  SPEAKER_00: I'm uh I'm on the road again, in case you can't tell.

  SPEAKER_00: I am uh I'm in Nashville actually, and uh just meeting some new folks, working with some new uh a new church, and uh just um enjoying it.

  SPEAKER_00: Wanted to talk to you today about kind of an occupational hazard that I experience, uh, and and I'm kidding, but um being in the business, you might say, of helping people recognize and and and change their behavior, their thought processes.

  SPEAKER_00: In other words, um just kind of break out of cycles, really.

  SPEAKER_00: And um one of the occupational hazards, remember that movie, um uh I think it was called The Sixth Sense and uh Haley something Osman, young kid in the movie, and the famous line with Bruce Willis in the movie.

  SPEAKER_00: But the famous line was uh the kid, the young boy, uh said, I see stuck people.

  SPEAKER_00: I mean, I see dead people.

  SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I gave my punchline away.

  SPEAKER_00: I see dead people, and what I what I deal with is I see stuck people.

  SPEAKER_00: I uh I just kind of in my normal everyday banging around, I see people who are are not enjoying the fullness of what God has for them.

  SPEAKER_00: And again, uh I see them when I look in the mirror too.

  SPEAKER_00: I am one of them, but that's my point.

  SPEAKER_00: My point is all of us are stuck in some area of our life, all of us are stuck in some uh cycle that we we're like, gosh, why do I keep doing that?

  SPEAKER_00: And um, if you feel like there's any repetition to these eight-minute mind shifts, it's because bottom line, that's my thing.

  SPEAKER_00: My thing is to come at you from any direction I can to help you figure out how to um how to break out of these cycles, how to stop doing things that are not getting where you where you want to go, and how to help you start doing things that will get you where you want to go.

  SPEAKER_00: So uh in in an effort to do that, I just wanted to talk to you a little bit today.

  SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna introduce kind of an interesting you know, prop, if you will, that I like to use.

  SPEAKER_00: But let me uh let me read something first.

  SPEAKER_00: In uh Joshua chapter 14, Caleb comes to uh Joshua, and this is uh you know after Moses is dead, and here's what he, I'm gonna jump around, so forgive me, but it's Joshua 14, 6 through 12 thereabouts.

  SPEAKER_00: So I'm like I said, I'm gonna jump around a little bit.

  SPEAKER_00: So Joshua comes, Caleb comes and says to Joshua, you know the word which the Lord spoke to Moses, the man of God, concerning you and me.

  SPEAKER_00: And and here's what I mean by that.

  SPEAKER_00: You you know the seed of hope, the seed of vision, the seed of dream.

  SPEAKER_00: In other words, this a word was spoken to them that gave them a sense of where God wanted to take them, a sense of where their future was meant to go.

  SPEAKER_00: I guarantee you right now, you have maybe some of us, it's it's it's gotten buried under disappointment and all kinds of things.

  SPEAKER_00: But deep inside of you, you've got kind of a dream of what you'd like your life to look like.

  SPEAKER_00: You've got a dream of what you'd like your marriage to look like.

  SPEAKER_00: If you're single, you've got a dream of the person you'd like to meet one day and marry.

  SPEAKER_00: You I promise you, you have a dream buried inside of you.

  SPEAKER_00: You you you have a a desire buried deeply inside of you that uh you'd like to see happen.

  SPEAKER_00: So that's what he's saying.

  SPEAKER_00: But an interesting thing, he says, I was 40 years old.

  SPEAKER_00: In other words, when that seed was planted, I was 40 years old.

  SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm just stressing that because here's what it says.

  SPEAKER_00: Uh a little bit later, he says this, now behold, the Lord has kept me alive.

  SPEAKER_00: Now, I believe, yes, his heart was still beating, his lungs were still breathing, his legs were still working.

  SPEAKER_00: In other words, he was still alive in the sense we normally mean it.

  SPEAKER_00: But I also believe he meant God has kept that dream alive.

  SPEAKER_00: God's kept that that sense of what I think life could be, where I think life could go, what I who I could become, um, the people that I could have around me that that I cherish and that cherish me.

  SPEAKER_00: Um in other words, this vision picture sense of what the life could look like.

  SPEAKER_00: So he says, uh now behold, the Lord has kept me alive, just as he said these 45 years.

  SPEAKER_00: Now remember, the seed was planted, the seed of that dream was planted at 40.

  SPEAKER_00: And here he is saying, the Lord's kept me alive these 45 years.

  SPEAKER_00: Let's do the math.

  SPEAKER_00: That makes him 85 years old.

  SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Jesus.

  SPEAKER_00: Boy, that gives me hope, man.

  SPEAKER_00: Because in case you can't tell, I'm I'm not a youngster anymore.

  SPEAKER_00: I feel like one on the inside.

  SPEAKER_00: I want to be honest with you.

  SPEAKER_00: I feel like one on the inside, man.

  SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.

  SPEAKER_00: I I I just I love the goodness of God.

  SPEAKER_00: And he's just been so good to my wife and I.

  SPEAKER_00: And oh my gosh.

  SPEAKER_00: From the time that the Lord spoke to me, spoke this word to Moses when Israel walked in the wilderness.

  SPEAKER_00: Now behold, I'm 85 years old today.

  SPEAKER_00: Listen to what he says.

  SPEAKER_00: I'm still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me.

  SPEAKER_00: As my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.

  SPEAKER_00: Now then, listen to what he says.

  SPEAKER_00: This 85-year-old dude says, Give me, now then, give me that hill country which the Lord spoke on that day.

  SPEAKER_00: Here he is, 85 years old, and he says, Give me, give me what God promised me.

  SPEAKER_00: 85, the Lord kept me alive, he planted a seed in me.

  SPEAKER_00: Here's what we're gonna do for the next few weeks.

  SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about how to how to how to protect that seed.

  SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about how to get unstuck, we're gonna talk about how to not continue in cycles that are not getting you where you want to go.

  SPEAKER_00: And um we're gonna try to do it in a way that it gives you stuff to think about, stuff to ponder.

  SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you a question.

  SPEAKER_00: If you if you took this to heart that you believe God wants to um dust off, you might say, dust off your dreams.

  SPEAKER_00: God wants to reinvigorate them.

  SPEAKER_00: God wants you to, you know, the Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick.

  SPEAKER_00: God wants you to dare, dare to take that dream back up.

  SPEAKER_00: And again, please remember, it doesn't have to be a dream of some crazy accomplishment.

  SPEAKER_00: It could simply be a dream of overcoming an anger problem, uh learning how to how to uh have victory in an area that may be of depression or uh pornography addiction.

  SPEAKER_00: It could be your marriage that's stuck in a cycle that you're just like you've almost given up hope that it could be any different.

  SPEAKER_00: So what I'm saying is I I want to just talk a little bit over these next few weeks in our eight-minute time together.

  SPEAKER_00: How do you, how do you, how do you take it back up?

  SPEAKER_00: How do you and I think you've gotta you've gotta be a little bit ruthless with yourself.

  SPEAKER_00: You've got to be willing to uh answer some questions, ask some questions first, and then answer them.

  SPEAKER_00: And um, last week we talked about with misses, people that you need in your life, you need to find some people that want to go on the same journey as you.

  SPEAKER_00: So here's the question I want you to and uh I want you to ponder a little bit.

  SPEAKER_00: Um if I finish well, if I if God were to do what I feel like he planted in my heart, it might be days ago, weeks ago, months ago, years ago, decades ago.

  SPEAKER_00: If if God did what I felt like he said he wanted to do, what would my life look like?

  SPEAKER_00: What does finishing well, what does crossing over into that promised land?

  SPEAKER_00: Land of promise God promised, and I want to enter the land of that fulfillment.

  SPEAKER_00: What is it what would it look like?

  SPEAKER_00: In other words, what I'm really trying to get you to do is think about, talk about um what would it look like if God did what I believe He promised to do for me?

  SPEAKER_00: And and I just want to awaken that thing in you because here's the thing you're not gonna you're not gonna do what you have to do if there's not something you want bad enough to do it.

  SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna do what you have to do unless there's something you want bad enough to do it.

  SPEAKER_00: I've learned this about people.

  SPEAKER_00: We don't change until staying the same hurts more than changing does.
