- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: You can follow him on social media, Ross to at Ross Tucker NFL.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Ross Tucker former NFL lineman who has been in the podcast social media game content creation game before contact creation was really a thing for quite a while.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Ross Tucker joining these things block party podcasts.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for coming on and joining us man really really appreciate it.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's my pleasure.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys ever heard the story, but I totally lucked out.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: I retired from football, and I knew Peter King, so I was writing for Sports Illustrated, and then ESPN hired me away.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there's gonna pay me more money for the articles I was writing.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, okay, cool.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's also what you host.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: our our football today podcast that said sure I would love to this is like two thousand nine maybe maybe ten I had no idea what a podcast was most people didn't do there in a pay me money to talk about football so I was like sure I loved those your podcast that'd be great no idea what I had like a droid razor phone like a you know motor hole I had no idea what a podcast was next thing I know I'm doing that for like three years and then
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: That was doing really well.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: I was able to go out on my own, but yeah, I like sometimes in life, fellas, you just get lucky.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: I would not have ever started a podcast to my knowledge.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: Now the flip side is
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: after I was ESPN for three years, and I heard about the numbers they were getting and the advertisers, I did think, you know what, maybe I should do some my own, you know, I've been building up this audience.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like in the Austin life, right?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's a combination of
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: luck and then making the most of that good fortune, I guess, you know?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, uh, tell me about that with the future fans.com.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're doing right now.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: What, how's that work?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: What's that about?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I just invested with those guys.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: You guys are going to love this actually.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: I met these guys maybe a year ago or so.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if either one of you have kids, but, uh, it's that impossible to explain the kids how football works.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking about like,
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: Four, five, six, seven, eight year old.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: My daughters are twelve and thirteen and just judging by some of the questions they asked me when I took them to the Super Bowl.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: I do some work for the Eagles.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I took them to the Super Bowl.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: There are Eagles fans.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: And judging by the questions they were asking me,
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't do a great job if you can.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Now listen, I'm a broadcast.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a way every weekend.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's my excuse.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: I talked to my buddies like they can't.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like it was for us back in the day where we all wanted to either sit with our dad or sit with our buddies and watch the game.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you got kids don't like that.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like they just want to see the highlights.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: They just want to be on their iPads.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: So these guys realize you know what?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: What are kids like?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Cause they've kids, right?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: They're bangles fans, right?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: So like, kids like to read like, you know, stories books, like they like, you know, fun books, and they like to play games.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: So what these guys did is they came up with basically a story book, led activity box that explains football.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because a few years ago, when the Saints went to the Super Bowl, I'm Saints.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: When the bangles went to the Super Bowl, they were trying to get their kids to watch the game with them.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: But the kids like, yeah, I don't want to.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'll do it next year.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, no, no, no, no, we're playing those fans.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's no, there's no, there's no next year in the playoff next year in the Super Bowl.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: So if you know anybody that has kids, I would say probably ages like between four to ten and you want to get them involved in football or what do them to understand.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Most importantly, you want them to sit there and watch the games with you.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like you want to think about, I think this thing is sixty bucks over at futurefans.com, sixty bucks to get your child to actually watch the games with you would be well, well worth it.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: So check out futurefans.com plus they got like a twenty percent discount if you go right now.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: So futurefans.com for your kids or your nephew or grandkids, whatever.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's all, like, my daughter's, my daughter's fifteen.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: She has no interest in sports at all, but I feel like had there been something like that when she was at, and those ages, the interest may have been there now.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, like, looking back at, I'm kind of glad that she's not interested in sports because I have.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: like I don't what they're having that emotional baggage of like wins and losses with a team but you do though you do though you want you want you want to you want to experience that's the fun you know like yeah when the Eagles first won the Super Bowl the amount of people that said like it it made them think of their dad who had passed away or their grandma because it was their first one ever I'm sure you guys can relate you're going back to two thousand nine but like
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: that it's like you have this bond, for years and years and years, and then when it finally happens, it's just like this, it brings back a lot of the emotions, all the pain, all the everything.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's also, anyway, we all want our kids, I understand your point for sure, but I'll just say this, you know, being in the stand with my girls for the Super Bowl, that was, that was really cool.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: That was really cool.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: So future friends.com definitely check that out.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some saints things to talk about on this eccentric podcast.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: A big reason we wanted to get you on.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're going.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: We want to preview the two thousand twenty five season a little bit, but just looking back because it's been a very hectic kind of crazy offseason for the Saints.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of goes under that radar because of where they are for most teams like most people's power rankings.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: You were one of the few people in the media landscape that really caught him pointing out with the direct car retirement of
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: pointing out that the amount of money he gave up to retire and kind of gave back to the team wasn't really kind of talked about and I feel like you were like one of the only people talking about like he could have just went on IR right right what like kind of like what is kind of really happening like why is he giving up this money and we have a whole bunch of other things to talk about like
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: There are cars on a teaming more, we're kind of looking for for the future, but I wanted to kind of go back in time a little bit and give you the props because it also went to the reporting that we had heard about what was really kind of going on behind the scenes regarding that whole situation.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's funny because initially, I had like no reporting.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: It was just common sense as a guy that played NFL for seven years for five team.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've never, what was it?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: Was it twenty five million?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I can't remember the number.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: So he got to keep ten and essentially he gave up like twenty.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, correct.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, so like that's not a thing, right?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: like nobody's like such a nice guy that like they're just gonna give the team twenty million dollars back and if they if they were the rest of us as players would be like you're gonna do what it's like top gun when a maverick says you're gonna hit the brakes that they fly right behind who's like you're gonna do what you're gonna give the team back twenty million dollars like do not understand what's going on here so um listen
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think if he could have easily, this is just my best guess, as what I'll say.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll also say, like, you know, I've heard rumblings or talk to people through the great buying after this, right?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that if he would have just said, hurt my shoulder going on IR, I want all the money.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, then there's things that the saints would have to really have really dug into, right?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, rightfully so, like, okay, well, why did you not report this at your end of the year, physical number one?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: Then number two, it's like, when did this injury happen?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Did it happen before after this new contract we signed with you?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then when this happened, were you out to facility, were you not at the facility?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: Let, I'll just say this, like,
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: if it was like, if he heard his shoulder, okay, at Midi Camp Rotias, he would have gotten all the money.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: He would have gone on IR and would have gotten all the money.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that it was like in this weird time between the end of last season, sort of this season, and they did a contract when negotiation during that time, that made it a lot murkier,
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: to the point where, and by the way, the Saints letting him keep the ten million, there was some type of conversation there, right?
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, because it's like the Saints could have said, like, hey, we can go after that ten million.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: To million.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: I do callers like, well, we can get the twenty, like, you know what, why don't we just, why don't we do this?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: Derek looks good.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just call it a deal.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm okay with that.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm okay with that, but don't, like,
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm okay with everything it went down but please don't like I don't need like the he's and I love Derek I like him as a player I like him as a person but I don't need all of like he's the most generous guy of all time he's giving this money back to the team it's like
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, like, you know, and I don't know what would have happened if the Saints had to file a grievance and they wouldn't add each other.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how it would have ended.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Derek gets all the money.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the Saints get to ten million back, right?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: But they decided more or less to like, let's figure this out as gentlemen.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: And that's fun.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that was then whole, or deal was just very impressive.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: You guys were on it and some other people were on it after I tweeted that, but there was a lot of people, you know, the reality is a lot of the information people.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: rely on agents to get that information.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: And so they have to report relationships.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: What the agent wants them to report are else the agent won't give them that information anymore.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't care.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not talking to the information people.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not talking to agents.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just using the powers of deductive reasoning to tell you what I think happened.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was all just very fascinating just to see all that works behind the scenes.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: We had James later on a couple of months ago, she was, you know, real insightful, you know, from the side behind the scenes stuff that she sees.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, as far as like, you know, the scene's going forward.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: You were offensive linemen for years, seven years, you played multiple teams.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Saints are going into this season.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Really hoping that they'd be finally rebuilt this offensive line.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, after they invested a lot over the years a lot of first round picks You got you know, they're drafted Kelvin banks this past season You got to us if a lot of flaga they move it back to right tackle Trevor pinning was been off and on, you know, gone through his struggles to prove him to guard
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: How do you see his thing working out?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like how do you know, just from your perspective?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: We all know the deal with the quarterback position, right?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: So for the Saints to realistically be able to be competitive this year, they need to have an above average offensive line.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like not even just average.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like they need to have an above average offensive line.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: And to your point,
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: They've got four first round picks and a second round pick.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, the second round picks probably the best of the bunch.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: Eric McCoy at center.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's probably the best of the bunch.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm not sure, you guys, maybe you've done the research, but there can't be many teams that have invested that much in the online.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: In terms of draft pickup, now the Eagles pay their whole line because just because they're all good.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: So they pay them all, but in terms of draft picks, to have both guards, both tackles, be first rounders, and by the way,
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: All these guys drafted within the last five or six years, all like in their twenties, all in the prime, like they should not even be above average, like they should be like a top five within that group.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see, you know, I have a differing reports on banks, right?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: There were people that really liked them, there were people that had some concerns, obviously the Saints fall into the really like them category.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Trevor at left guard is going to be interesting.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: I love his play style and demeanor.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: He just was not a natural past protector.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think maybe I called his first start at left tackle against the Titans in the open.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, here we go.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: He sure did.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was bad.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: But actually, I don't know if you guys remember.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: My philosophy is like the second time he got beat.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, okay, like you gotta you gotta help him.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you like, like, like, he can't do it.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: He can't do it.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: We know that.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: Some guys can't do it right now.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's already here, whatever.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: But for the rest of that game, you need to help him.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: So the interesting thing about that is I have seen the tackle to guard thing.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: It always seems to go one of two ways.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: It always seems to go really well or really poorly.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't seem like a guy that's average at tackle goes to guard and is average, right?
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like on the positive side there's some
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: high-profile examples of guys from college to the NFL like the Zack Martins and share from botoneo that are unbelievable players.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure you guys are talking about Robert Gallery who had some issues as a past protector at Tackle, but became a very solid guard.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that that's probably the best comp for Trevor.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Interestingly twice in my career
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: I was on teams, twenty-thousand two and two thousand seven in Washington where they tried to take a tackle, moving the guard, and both times it did not work out.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: It did not work out.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Twenty-thousand two I think was Rod Jones, two thousand seven Todd Wade, and the reason for that is because you're tied in with all of the blitzes
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so things happen so fast inside mentally, right?
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: So those guys were pretty good at the timing and one-on-one pass pro.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: But inside it's like tackle tackle.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Here comes the landbacker like so I don't know where Trevor's at mentally on
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, past protection blitz pickup because he hasn't had to do it.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then the other thing is you're going to get to different body type and they're on you right now.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: So some guys, they excel at that because there's no longer that time and space and Trevor can just get his hands on the guy right right away, right?
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's got like, just jump them, bam, be physical, run block them right there.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: And that might work.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: Other guys,
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: They're more used to the cadence or the tempo of playing tackle.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: So he'll he'll be the key.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like you know what you'll get from McCoy and and Caesar Ruiz, who was on the show recently.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: And Flaga, Penning will be the key.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's a bunch of years in a row where we're saying he's the key on the offense.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: We go back and listen to sometimes or just post our older episodes.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: And like I remember I post it one and I listened to it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like we were saying the exact same thing.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, Oh, Trevor pinning.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's the fourth annual Trevor pinning.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: The key to the offensive line episode.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Last one I have for you.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for giving us this time.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: This has been great.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: Every podcast we talk about, we have to talk about this quarterback competition.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: With the Tyler Schuuck thing, we are seeing more second round picks getting signed.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this earlier this week of how it's for him.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's so interesting because with the stalemate with the second round picks and the contract and guaranteed money with him, it's so imperative because he is a quarterback and he's in a quarterback competition.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Typically like when, I don't know, in your experience or just in general, like when do teams typically know of
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: who they're going to go with in terms of a quarterback competition because it's to me it's the most fascinating thing that's been since related in quite a while with the whole Tyler Schuch and Spencer Rattler competition that they'll have.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: The way I would describe that is they almost always have someone that they want
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: to be the starter.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: Usually based on draft choice or financial compensation, they're hoping and rooting's not the right word, but they're hoping a certain guys are starter.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: And what I've seen is that guy's going to be the starter unless it's
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: untenable.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna be like, unless it's clearly, he's clearly not the best guy.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, the tie, any tie or anything close to a tie is going to Tyler's shock.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: But if during training camp and especially the preseason games, because we can all watch that.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: They can fool us in training camp and they can script things the way they want in training camp.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: But the preseason games, they can't lie to us, right?
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: So if Chuck is horrendous in the preseason games and Spencer Ratler, Hainer, whoever lights it up,
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna have to go with that guy at least to start the year.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: And that wouldn't surprise me because on some level then it also gives them two bites at the apple.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: Because think of it this way.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: What they don't wanna do is start the year with shock and then bench him.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: They're much, much, much better off.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: If Kellan Moore wants to have two hands to play, right?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: You start Rattler or Hainer.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, if they're playing great, awesome.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: Let them go.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: If they're not, then you have, then you have bring in shock from the bullpen, so to speak.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: So that's something to watch.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: You'll start deceitering training camp.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how you do it with three guys.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: If they're in fact really letting all three guys compete,
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: I've always thought because of the fact that they script both the offense and defense.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: Look, I've seen quarterback competitions where there are certain guys that they're just better at that position when they know there's no chanting and get hit.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to say names, but it's just true.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's think about anything else in life.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, right now, you guys doing this podcast, which is super popular.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think you'd be as good?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: If there's a chance, every ten seconds, one of you get smoked in the ribs.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you're trying to be like this.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, guess what?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: When you're in a trading camp, practically.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: You go in the game.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-oh.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now the ribs, like now that's not off game, right?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of flaws in quarterback competitions.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: One is that you can't hit them.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: The other is, there's so much less practice time than they're used to be.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I go back to Marty Shottenheim or two thousand one.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: It was three hours, two practices, each full pads for twelve days, two other.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Nowadays, these guys, like, I go to these practices, taking now in fifteen minutes.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, that's it.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's all they're doing.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of reasons that make it hard to have a quarterback competition.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: So the best way I would describe it is they're going to go into it.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: based on the spring with sort of preconceived notions or an ideal of how they'd like to see it play out.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then the only way it doesn't play out that way.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: In my opinion, no matter what they say publicly, in my opinion, is if it's so obvious to people watching and to the players that they can't go with what they wanted to go with.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that's going to be so fascinating.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to see it play out.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: I know we were in an up against it.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: My only thing I wanted to bring up, I always thought was pretty a couple years ago, you made the extra throw up.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to know what you want to call it, but I know it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that it wasn't that
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: all around, or, you know, I think my comment was, taste some hills, one of the best football players I've ever seen.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think I wish I would have said like, all the best.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: One of the best, pure football players are all around football players.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: Could be like, I know which football players they want to compare them to Tom Brady or whatever.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my point, okay.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bunch of things a football player can do.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: They can run with it, they can tackle, they can throw, they can, they can punt, they can, whatever, right?
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: If Tom Brady and Tyson Hill played one on one football, Tom Brady would be dead in like five plays.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: He'd be dead on the field dead over, right?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like so, so, Tyson Mills, not as good of a quarterback as Tom Brady, okay?
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: Tom Brady wouldn't even be able to start for a high school team.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: at like fullback, tight end, linebacker, beyond the kickoff team, on the part returning, all the crazy things that Jason Hill can do at the NFL level.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: I worked my whole life to be able to play online, right, for him to be able to excel.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: In doing everything a football player can ever ask to be due.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: It ever asked to do it like blows my mind away, but that wasn't even going to save mine.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Go ahead.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, amen.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you brought that up because I appreciate you.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: You post like highlights that were just like, did you some kill on it?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: What are you guys doing?
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: I was bringing up.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think you put the sense to go like eight nine when you think it was like
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty-twenty-twenty-twenty-three.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, you're gonna go eat that.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: You got a little success.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he got density this little with eight games.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought that was hilarious.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, what did you do with it?
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because he only said eight games, like, like, only eight games.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and what they went seven.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was Derek's first year.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: It was two years ago.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: What were they?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: I can't do it.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: They went nine games.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think they went.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was nine.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: It went on that little.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: I was weird.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: I blew it.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: I choked.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: That little heater.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: You're going, don't you?
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: You're going, don't you?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: And all of a sudden, that's every team there.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: Every team no matter what I say.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm asked for my honest opinion and it's like, I'll give it.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: And especially if I'm on some other team's podcast or whatever, they all give that they're all in their teams at least two games better than I think they are, right?
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is is like the Saints win total of Vegas was like eight and a half.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like I'm like some crazy notion, right?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: But that's okay.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's why they're fans and that's why this time of year's great because they should be optimistic.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: They should be excited.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I like I prefer guys like you
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: who are die hard realists.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lie.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: I would describe it.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's a die hard realist term.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody loves the saints more than you guys, but you're also, you love them so much that you will call out their faults or call out their mistakes.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: which by the way, to me, just makes you even a better fan because it allows me to then appreciate when you are saying something positive.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because I know it's not just a Homer, everything's great, everything's positive, Mickey's never done a bad contract.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, counting more is the greatest coach of all time.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like if someone, if all you ever do is positive, then we know you're full.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: Which is you guys, as you give the negative and the positive, when you got, when I see you guys do positive, I know it's legit.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate it.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: People seem to think the exact opposite.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: Ross, it's been a pleasure.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for coming on.

- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Training camp, bro.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: There have been two more second round picks signed.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: The nine are signed.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Their second round pick defensive linemen.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: And the bear signed their second round pick to not not a fully guaranteed contract for both those players.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens with Tyler.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, bro.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's another one.
