- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beecham.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Stand by for good news.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Today we begin a new week together.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: And I want us to think about something we all see every day.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Knowledge is everywhere.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: It's on our phones, it's on our televisions, it's in our cars and in our homes.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: It is even in our pockets.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: If we want to know something, we have the answer in a flash.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: We pick up a phone, type in a question, and in a very few seconds, answers begin to appear.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Now that has become ordinary to us.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: But it really is amazing.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: The Bible spoke about a time that would move like this long ago.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Daniel 12 and 4 says, Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Daniel heard these words in a world that moved very slow, but the prophecy sounds like it was written in the world that we live right now.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: In Daniel's day, people had not sent a message across the world in an instant.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: They did not make phone calls.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: They did not watch live news from another country.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: They walked.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: If a person wanted to learn, they had to find a teacher and sit at that teacher's feet.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: But God looked down through time.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: He saw what Daniel could not see.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: He saw our highways.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: He saw our airlines.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: He saw our computers and our internets.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: He saw people moving quickly from place to place.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: He saw information moving even faster than people.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And he said that knowledge would increase.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: That should get our attention, not to make us afraid, not to make us proud, but to make us watchful.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Because here is the thing.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: More knowledge does not always mean more wisdom.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: More information does not always mean more truth.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: A person can know a lot and still be lost.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: A person can read all day and still miss what matters most.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: That is why Psalms 119 105 is so important.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: It says the word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: God's word gives light.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: It helps us know where we're stepping.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: It helps us know what to believe.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: It helps us know how to live.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And so let me ask this question.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Why all the knowledge around us are we becoming better people?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Are we becoming kinder, more faithful, closer to God?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Or are we just becoming busier, louder, and more distracted?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: John 8 and 32 says, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Notice this it is truth that makes us free, not just information, opinions, or headlines.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Truth makes us free.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And that brings us to responsibility.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Jesus said in Luke 12 48, for unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: We have been given much.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: We can hear preaching any time of the day we want.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: We can read scripture in many ways.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: We can encourage people with a message.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: We can share the truth with people we may never meet face to face.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So if God has allowed us to live in this time, we should ask him how to use our time well.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Jesus said, But you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you, and you shall be my witnesses.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: So today, don't just ask, What do I know?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Ask, what am I doing with what I know?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Am I using my knowledge to honor God?
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Am I using it to help my family, encourage the church?
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Am I using it to point somebody toward Jesus?
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: The increase of knowledge should not make the Christian cold.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: It should make us thankful.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: It should make us humble.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: It should make us careful.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: And above all, it should make us faithful.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Let your knowledge be guided by Scripture.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Let your words be guided by love, and let your mind be renewed by God.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: I hope the message today has touched your heart, make you to think, causes you to have a good day.
