- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gadagal Land Always was, Always
- 0:04Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land py Chix.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm sal and I'm mean.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And you're listening to to Road Chicks to show that
- 0:22Speaker 1: she has life lessons and tips to help make you
- 0:24Speaker 1: rich in life.
- 0:25Speaker 3: And welcome to our July favorite.
- 0:29Speaker 2: We're officially in less time to Christmas than it has
- 0:33Speaker 2: been since the start of the year, and that is
- 0:35Speaker 2: how I will be measuring the rest of the year.
- 0:38Speaker 3: That is how we always measure time.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's not by minutes or hours or seconds, it's by
- 0:42Speaker 1: the proximity to Christmas.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah, literally, how many days until Christmas? They're officially twenty
- 0:48Speaker 2: one fridays until Christmas.
- 0:52Speaker 3: That's exciting.
- 0:53Speaker 2: How good is that? One hundred and forty eight days?
- 0:55Speaker 2: That doesn't sound as good. So twenty one fridays Christmas.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Let's go people, Santa's coming in Sana very.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Exciting as our July favorites like It's Christmas or July
- 1:11Speaker 1: Christmas yep. But for any of you chicks who are
- 1:15Speaker 1: new round these parts. In our July Favorites, we're sharing
- 1:18Speaker 1: all of our favoritex from the month.
- 1:21Speaker 3: What we've been shopping, listening to, reading, loving, Oh Yeah,
- 1:26Speaker 3: live bluff.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Love, Live, love Love.
- 1:28Speaker 3: So what's your first favorite for July?
- 1:30Speaker 2: My first favorite for Juaane is my new kindle holder.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I have reached a new level of lazy and I'm
- 1:40Speaker 2: happy to be here.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Tell me about it. So you a lot of.
- 1:44Speaker 2: People are probably seen these online. But it's essentially a
- 1:47Speaker 2: thing that holds my kindle when I'm in bed and
- 1:51Speaker 2: it has a little clicker on it.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Oh so does it clip onto like your bedside table?
- 1:55Speaker 2: So I bought one, didn't rate it. So which was
- 2:00Speaker 2: that's the one that I clipped onto my bedside table
- 2:01Speaker 2: because it came with this little swively arm that was
- 2:05Speaker 2: just such a pain in the ass to use. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 2: not a huge fan of it. It kind of just
- 2:09Speaker 2: like it would fall off. I also think like having
- 2:13Speaker 2: those clamps on my bedside table. I was worried about
- 2:15Speaker 2: it damaging the table. So the one that I love
- 2:17Speaker 2: is actually a floor stand and it's so it's got
- 2:22Speaker 2: so much better structure to it. It's a floor stand
- 2:24Speaker 2: and you can really move it around, lean it over
- 2:27Speaker 2: the bed, and I basically just don't have to hold
- 2:30Speaker 2: the kindle. But the other part of it is like
- 2:33Speaker 2: it has a little clicker thing on it. So I
- 2:36Speaker 2: am just tucked into bed, dooner to the chin, little
- 2:41Speaker 2: clicker under the blanket, and it's just sitting there and
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'm just clicking and reading my book.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I have never entered a flow state quite like it.
- 2:49Speaker 4: And it was like thirty.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Bucks on Amazon, literally so affordable and just so good.
- 2:56Speaker 2: If you're not a huge reader, like, probably not worth
- 3:01Speaker 2: the investment, because as well, like I do just whenever
- 3:04Speaker 2: I get out of it.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I just put it in the corner of my room
- 3:06Speaker 4: and then when I go to bed, I put it back.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And if you're not a huge reader, it'll probably piss
- 3:10Speaker 2: you off having something in the corner of your room,
- 3:11Speaker 2: or you'll just be like, I don't really use it, so,
- 3:14Speaker 2: which is so fair enough. But it got me thinking
- 3:18Speaker 2: about how much my kindle has saved me. So we
- 3:23Speaker 2: did like a series online and it was like things
- 3:25Speaker 2: to buy that save you thousands of dollars.
- 3:27Speaker 4: So it's kind of like a double whammy.
- 3:29Speaker 2: How we do your favorites. I find that we and
- 3:31Speaker 2: I often think of what have I bought this month?
- 3:34Speaker 2: What have I seen this month? Because naturally it's X
- 3:36Speaker 2: month favorites. But I've started trying to make sure that
- 3:39Speaker 2: I am incorporating things that I've had for a long time.
- 3:43Speaker 2: That is still my favorite thing. Cue the jingle. It's
- 3:48Speaker 2: just the one from last month that was really big,
- 3:51Speaker 2: my kindlestand no, I'm not doing it. So if you
- 3:55Speaker 2: were to buy two books per month, that cost annually
- 4:00Speaker 2: comes to about four hundred.
- 4:01Speaker 4: And eighty dollars for the year.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Right, However, the cost of a Kindle is one hundred
- 4:07Speaker 2: and fifty nine dollars, and then I also pay for
- 4:09Speaker 2: the Kindle Unlimited subscription, which is fourteen dollars per month.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So for twenty twenty six, for one year of savings
- 4:17Speaker 2: buying the device and the subscription, I would save one
- 4:20Speaker 2: hundred and fifty three dollars. But I've had my Kindle
- 4:24Speaker 2: for like seven years, so over the cost of its lifetime,
- 4:29Speaker 2: it then increases to savings of three hundred ish dollars
- 4:34Speaker 2: per year. My Kindle has saved me seventeen hundred dollars. Yeah, whoa,
- 4:40Speaker 2: My Kindle has saved me one thy seven hundred and
- 4:42Speaker 2: thirteen dollars by having it for as long as I have.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And give or take that number a little bit, because
- 4:49Speaker 2: sometimes there's books that aren't included in the Kindle Unlimited subscription,
- 4:54Speaker 2: and so those books I have bought, but they're always cheaper.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And sometimes if I really like like the book, I
- 5:00Speaker 2: buy the physical book. Yeah. So like that number could
- 5:04Speaker 2: probably be a little bit lower, maybe a little bit higher,
- 5:06Speaker 2: depending on how much I haven't run the numbers on
- 5:08Speaker 2: every single book as a general guide. As a general guide,
- 5:13Speaker 2: it's definitely saved me money, like without a doubt in
- 5:16Speaker 2: my mind, and it is just my favorite thing. Ever.
- 5:20Speaker 4: We've just been in Europe this whole time, and I.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Think about things.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I put things on the scale of if I forgot
- 5:26Speaker 4: it on a holiday, would I buy it? Yeah, and
- 5:29Speaker 4: I would, so, like if I.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Forgot my Kindle on like a month long holiday, I
- 5:34Speaker 2: would have to buy it. It's the same thing as
- 5:36Speaker 2: if I forgot my phone charger, Like it's not actually
- 5:40Speaker 2: it's a negotia, it's a non negotiable.
- 5:42Speaker 4: It must be there. I have to have my book,
- 5:45Speaker 4: my block of Bucker.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we need the blocker bocker time.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I completely agree with that. And what I
- 5:51Speaker 1: do love about like a Kindle in comparison to some
- 5:55Speaker 1: other tech items that you might be investing a little
- 5:58Speaker 1: bit more money in.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Is that they're very very very durable.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It last a long time, waterproof really Yeah?
- 6:06Speaker 3: Whoa lay on like.
- 6:08Speaker 2: A Lilah in the pool?
- 6:09Speaker 4: Yes, yes you could.
- 6:12Speaker 5: I like that.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Do you know what ones I like when those are
- 6:14Speaker 2: like the ones that are like a little bean doughnut
- 6:16Speaker 2: with the mesh in the middle and your butt really
- 6:19Speaker 2: sinks down and hangs in it.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that too.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see.
- 6:23Speaker 5: That for you.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:32Speaker 1: My first July favorite is an article that I read
- 6:35Speaker 1: that was published on Pop Sugar by the writer Christine Thompson,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and the headline was no more maxing.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Why I'm minusing?
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think I saw this, yes, yeah, yeah, but I
- 6:49Speaker 2: didn't read it, so I'm excited to hear about.
- 6:51Speaker 3: It, to hear all about it.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So you know how like the concept of look looks
- 6:56Speaker 1: maxine or fibermaxing, health maxing, longevity max sleep maxing, like
- 7:01Speaker 1: everything's maxing at the moment, and you know some of
- 7:06Speaker 1: these terms, like I don't.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Know the looks maxing thing.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Obviously that has very problematic roots, but.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I do also think that it's kind of like a
- 7:16Speaker 3: term that is now.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Being just tacked onto everything, and I'm over it are
- 7:22Speaker 1: you Yes, I just am like yeah, and I think
- 7:26Speaker 1: you know we do like we.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Love a glow up, we love a reset.
- 7:30Speaker 1: We love an opportunity to look at life and be like,
- 7:32Speaker 1: where can I optimize here and there?
- 7:35Speaker 3: But I think that like a hack.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I love a hack and a tip.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, something that's going to be optional.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Here you go if you want to hear if you
- 7:43Speaker 1: need yeah it might you need wing attack absolutely, yes, absolutely,
- 7:48Speaker 1: the wing attack tips of the wing attack hacks.
- 7:52Speaker 3: That's what I want a book, whereas I feel like
- 7:55Speaker 3: the maxing trend is like all or nothing. It's giving said, giving.
- 8:00Speaker 2: You fucking huh and it's giving.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Like you ugly lazy, stupid fuck.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and I worked on this seven. If you're not
- 8:10Speaker 2: up at four A and then you're losing money, you
- 8:12Speaker 2: stupid fuck that. How did you get in?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Was it who gave you a key? Did you get
- 8:18Speaker 3: a key?
- 8:19Speaker 4: You're unaware that you only piece.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Of ship my grament you mom bought me this talk.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I love fucking.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Going this is my grandma did this for me.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Like one thousand, like, hey, that is you are right.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Don't talk to me like that. You need to talking
- 8:37Speaker 4: to poractive boys.
- 8:39Speaker 3: You're being passive.
- 8:40Speaker 4: You're being passive aggressive? You fuck, that's an alphatone.
- 8:44Speaker 2: What I just like, are you all right?
- 8:47Speaker 4: Something happened to yourself against?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's the part that is all over the internet, right,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I can do that for this whole episode.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm over it.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And clearly this all three is too And you know
- 9:01Speaker 1: she was talking about it, and I'll link the article
- 9:04Speaker 1: on the show notes so you can read the whole
- 9:06Speaker 1: thing if you were so inclined.
- 9:08Speaker 3: But you know, she was.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Saying that she agrees like it's kind of like a
- 9:13Speaker 1: lot of pressure to feel like you're constantly optimizing and
- 9:17Speaker 1: that your whole life is like a work in progress project.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And instead of X maxing whatever it is, she's adopting
- 9:26Speaker 1: a new philosophy, which is minusing.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Which that's what that means.
- 9:31Speaker 4: At the start of the episode.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Needs Chad and basically neck is just as thick as
- 9:41Speaker 1: his head.
- 9:41Speaker 3: It's a trade trunk.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's dumb thumb. He's been next maxing, thumb maxing.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Your thumbs are too weak to fuck.
- 9:56Speaker 3: You give her thumbs off and they're.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Like, loso dumbs up anymore?
- 10:01Speaker 4: You thumb bitched?
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, So she's instead pose this new philosophy of minusing,
- 10:09Speaker 1: which I definitely related to more and it's all about
- 10:13Speaker 1: getting in touch with yourself and noticing the elements in
- 10:16Speaker 1: your life that are genuinely improving it and then subtracting
- 10:20Speaker 1: the things that aren't. So instead of like looking for
- 10:23Speaker 1: ways to like add more and more into your life,
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's like, what are the things that I'm doing that
- 10:28Speaker 1: aren't working for me and I'm not enjoying and how
- 10:31Speaker 1: can I do less of that?
- 10:33Speaker 3: So she likens it to.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Gardening, where you remove like the weeds and the things
- 10:38Speaker 1: that you don't need in your life, and that gives
- 10:40Speaker 1: space for the things that you actually like.
- 10:42Speaker 2: To chads, yeah, weap the fucking chads out of your life.
- 10:48Speaker 1: And Yeah, while maxing is a trending topic, the article
- 10:52Speaker 1: just reminded me that having a healthy life isn't about
- 10:56Speaker 1: having like maximum of anything.
- 11:00Speaker 3: It's about balance.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Like, instead of focusing all of your time on yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: like protein maxing or look maxing or whatever, it is, like,
- 11:10Speaker 1: let's just look at the things that we genuinely need
- 11:12Speaker 1: in day to day life to feel happy and healthy
- 11:16Speaker 1: and check in and just make sure they're all kind
- 11:18Speaker 1: of being taken care of in a similar level.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that. It's like kind of like there's
- 11:25Speaker 2: protein versions of everything now. Yeah, and that's the thing,
- 11:29Speaker 2: Like this show makes me happier than a non protein meal,
- 11:33Speaker 2: you know, like a vodka paca rigatony no protein.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we're pastor maxing.
- 11:40Speaker 4: I'm pastor maxing.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm wine maxing.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Okay, I'm kissing maxing and I'm laughing maxing.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, fuck off, Chad.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, any Chad's listening to this, I'm sorry.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Or if like, your partner's name is Chad, Yeah, I'm.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Sure you have a lovely partner unless he's like the
- 12:00Speaker 2: guy that broke in at the start.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, did you give.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Him the key? No neck to?
- 12:07Speaker 3: He just giraffe spite.
- 12:10Speaker 2: That's how Chad broke down.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Fullya.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Okay, My next one is binoral beats, not beat troop.
- 12:26Speaker 3: What's that? Okay?
- 12:28Speaker 2: I think you're gonna like this, I know, be with me.
- 12:30Speaker 2: If you haven't heard of them, here's the simple version.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Binoral beats are an audio technique where two slightly different
- 12:37Speaker 2: frequencies are played into each ear simultaneously, so your brain
- 12:44Speaker 2: detects the difference between the two and essentially it sinks
- 12:48Speaker 2: to it, I know. And so the process is called
- 12:52Speaker 2: brainwave entertainment, and it's basically a life hack to lock
- 12:56Speaker 2: in and focus. So depending on the freequency, you can
- 13:00Speaker 2: nudge your brain into a deep state of focus. Relaxivity
- 13:05Speaker 2: is not a word. I was joining two things, so
- 13:10Speaker 2: you can kind of put your brain into like deeper
- 13:13Speaker 2: states of focus, calm, creativity, or even sleep. So as
- 13:18Speaker 2: someone here, I don't know if anyone would pick up
- 13:20Speaker 2: on this, I'm not very good at focusing on one
- 13:22Speaker 2: thing at a time. We have to have like three
- 13:24Speaker 2: hours of best work, and I think every twenty minutes.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I was like, ow, yeah, what's.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Going on with it?
- 13:30Speaker 2: Have you seen?
- 13:32Speaker 4: And I was like, chop the fuck half. It's my
- 13:34Speaker 4: tail that I like pop these on.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And you've probably heard it every now and again when
- 13:38Speaker 2: I would take my headphones off. But it basically helps
- 13:42Speaker 2: you like drop into that like focused statement mode where
- 13:47Speaker 2: you're like, wow, oh so much done. So I really
- 13:51Speaker 2: like it because I find it really helpful. So for
- 13:53Speaker 2: focus specifically, you want beta waves that are roughly fourteen
- 13:58Speaker 2: to thirty hurts HZ. I've actually kind of made up
- 14:02Speaker 2: that that's hurts but I'm assuming it is. So it's
- 14:06Speaker 2: kind of good because it's not necessarily relying on like
- 14:09Speaker 2: caffeine or like convincing yourself to sit down or literally
- 14:13Speaker 2: like taping yourself to a chair, which I did once
- 14:15Speaker 2: in high school. It didn't really work that well, but
- 14:17Speaker 2: I've been using it for when I need to kind
- 14:18Speaker 2: of get into deep work sessions and not be such
- 14:21Speaker 2: like a squirrel.
- 14:23Speaker 3: So it's not like a playlist of ambient noise.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So yeah, the best part of it is it's free,
- 14:29Speaker 2: so you can go on YouTube or on Spotify and
- 14:33Speaker 2: they have full playlists, and the playlist on Spotify has
- 14:36Speaker 2: like different beats for different purposes, so you can have
- 14:41Speaker 2: it for sleeping, you can have it for calm, you
- 14:43Speaker 2: can have it for focus, and.
- 14:45Speaker 4: It kind of distracts your brain from being like.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It always, Yeah, my brain is in guitar mode all
- 14:55Speaker 2: the time.
- 14:58Speaker 1: My next July favorite is I don't know, I'm kind
- 15:02Speaker 1: of embarrassed to admit it, but it's a backpack because
- 15:04Speaker 1: I'm a notorious bag lady and I'm always carrying a
- 15:06Speaker 1: bunch of shit and I've like caused serious nerve.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Damage to my should seriously.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so I've done this roundup of like everyday work
- 15:13Speaker 1: handbags and brands that you can get good quality handbags
- 15:17Speaker 1: from right, and then a lot of people were like, yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 1: but I want.
- 15:19Speaker 3: A backpack, and I was like, okay, good point.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And then when I was also doing my own research
- 15:24Speaker 1: before we went on our trip, I'd found this Australian
- 15:27Speaker 1: brand called Ella and Earth and they do a lot
- 15:30Speaker 1: of really beautiful handbags and backpacks, and the one that
- 15:33Speaker 1: I got is the Odyssey Insulated bag, and you can
- 15:37Speaker 1: get them in.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Like a smaller or a larger size.
- 15:40Speaker 1: And the reason that I like it is that you
- 15:42Speaker 1: can wear it as a backpack, but also it has
- 15:44Speaker 1: a shoulder strap, so you can wear it as a
- 15:45Speaker 1: shoulder bag if you want to as well.
- 15:48Speaker 3: It also has one of those straps on the back that.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You can like slide onto your luggage, so if you
- 15:53Speaker 1: want to take it as like you carry on when
- 15:56Speaker 1: you're traveling.
- 15:57Speaker 3: It is also insulated.
- 15:59Speaker 1: As it says in the name, you're using it as
- 16:00Speaker 1: a work handbag, you can take like your water bottle
- 16:02Speaker 1: or your lunch and it's going to keep it cool.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It has like secret pockets on the inside so that
- 16:08Speaker 1: you can put your passport and stuff in there. It's
- 16:10Speaker 1: just a really good, like multi purpose handbag that is
- 16:15Speaker 1: pretty good quality, durable.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And is the sort of bag that you would be
- 16:20Speaker 3: able to use for work or if you're on a trip,
- 16:22Speaker 3: which I love.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Backpack, backpack, backpack, what's your next July favorite?
- 16:37Speaker 2: Okay, it's creating your little black book of favorite.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It's not sexually you free.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So basically I feel like we have this conversation a
- 16:49Speaker 2: couple of times, but it's like, I like being able
- 16:51Speaker 2: to go I know a guy, you know, And it's
- 16:56Speaker 2: creating a collection of your fate things in terms of restaurants, services,
- 17:05Speaker 2: you know, handy tradesmen, whatever, and like even beauty therapists
- 17:12Speaker 2: whatever that is, and getting the people that you're like, yep.
- 17:15Speaker 4: That's my person that does that. I like the idea
- 17:19Speaker 4: of that.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I like building that out and being like, cool, I
- 17:23Speaker 2: need my hair done. Bang. If you don't have one
- 17:26Speaker 2: of those, or if you're like, what the fuck are
- 17:28Speaker 2: you talking about?
- 17:29Speaker 4: You could just do it in your notesapp.
- 17:31Speaker 2: But the reason I like it is because it saves
- 17:33Speaker 2: you time, money or a headache. So time because you're
- 17:35Speaker 2: not researching the same things over and over again. You
- 17:38Speaker 2: already know the restaurant, the electrician, the dry cleaner. Decision
- 17:42Speaker 2: is made in seconds, not hours. Money because panic buying
- 17:46Speaker 2: obviously is costing a lot of money. So the first
- 17:50Speaker 2: plumber who picks up the restaurant you booked out of
- 17:52Speaker 2: desperation almost always costs more. Like your little black book
- 17:57Speaker 2: full of people is who's pricing? You know about one,
- 18:01Speaker 2: You're already on the front foot, you know what it is.
- 18:04Speaker 2: But two, I find when you are consistent with the
- 18:07Speaker 2: same people or services or restaurants, you create relationships with
- 18:12Speaker 2: these people that you kind of can like build rapport
- 18:16Speaker 2: and relationships that sometimes you know, you get good deals
- 18:19Speaker 2: and mates rates. And if people put their prices up,
- 18:22Speaker 2: sometimes your price goes up too, which is fine. People
- 18:24Speaker 2: are allowed to price.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Themselves ever they want.
- 18:27Speaker 2: But often I find that people are like, no, no, no,
- 18:29Speaker 2: it's fine, just do the normal thing. Like if you're
- 18:31Speaker 2: an existing client or if you're.
- 18:33Speaker 1: In a bit of a bind and you need like
- 18:34Speaker 1: a last minute thing, like they're probably more likely to
- 18:36Speaker 1: try and fit you.
- 18:37Speaker 4: In yes, timing wise for themselves.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not saying that in terms of
- 18:42Speaker 2: trying to get discounts for people that's not what I'm saying.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And then obviously the headache because like bad experience or
- 18:47Speaker 2: expensive ways that don't show up on receipts, and just
- 18:51Speaker 2: trying to find someone can also be a bit of
- 18:53Speaker 2: a fucking headache and time consuming.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, not the vite.
- 18:56Speaker 2: So how to build your little black book of favorites
- 18:59Speaker 2: is art with what you already know. Think back over
- 19:02Speaker 2: the last year, who showed up, who did the job,
- 19:05Speaker 2: who left you thinking, Wow, I'd use them again, And
- 19:08Speaker 2: that's your foundation to write them down. Then organize it
- 19:11Speaker 2: by category, not alphabetically, so you want to open and
- 19:15Speaker 2: see restaurants and then go Italian, Greek, ti, whatever that is,
- 19:20Speaker 2: and you can kind of run through that bars blah
- 19:23Speaker 2: blah blah, happy hour at this whatever. That is so
- 19:27Speaker 2: adding context, not just the details, so like why did
- 19:31Speaker 2: you like it?
- 19:31Speaker 4: What's it really good for?
- 19:33Speaker 2: I also find this so helpful because when friends even
- 19:36Speaker 2: just ask like where should we go for dinner?
- 19:38Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 19:38Speaker 4: Or does anyone know.
- 19:39Speaker 2: A good hairdresser or whatever it is, you can be like, yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I know someone.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And it's xyz.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Nothing gets me going more than being like Dell the
- 19:50Speaker 2: male sent you. Yeah, exactly, Like just being like, yeah, yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 2: tell them I sent you street Cred, street Cred, street Cred.
- 20:00Speaker 4: I know, okay, let me Yeah, I'll message them all.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I'll get loved doing that. I know someone.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Afraid someone. I'll get your booking doing.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yeah. So the other point is, don't you can't have
- 20:16Speaker 2: too many favorites, otherwise it's not a favorite anymore. So
- 20:19Speaker 2: obviously have you know, maybe you're number one, maybe some backups,
- 20:22Speaker 2: but create a one in one out eventually, like you're
- 20:26Speaker 2: allowed to find things.
- 20:27Speaker 4: That work better for you.
- 20:29Speaker 2: And if that's the case, you know, you can still
- 20:30Speaker 2: keep your favorite in there if you want, but you
- 20:32Speaker 2: can also swap things out. Otherwise you just end up
- 20:34Speaker 2: with a really long fucking list and you're in the
- 20:36Speaker 2: same thing where you're like, I don't know a guy,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I just have.
- 20:39Speaker 3: A list, keep it curated.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Then also, you know, use this wisely. Ask the
- 20:46Speaker 2: people you respect most where they go, ask around, like
- 20:50Speaker 2: you can. You don't have to create this all from
- 20:53Speaker 2: personal experience, Like you can ask friends, be like, do
- 20:56Speaker 2: you know anyone? What's this? What's that?
- 20:59Speaker 1: You know?
- 20:59Speaker 3: Love word of mouth, rare.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Word of mouth is the best, and then just be
- 21:04Speaker 2: deliberate with who you're adding like, don't do it because
- 21:07Speaker 2: I say this as me and.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Being like, yeah, I love the idea of.
- 21:09Speaker 2: A little black bock gun.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Yeah that I just like start adding to it just
- 21:12Speaker 4: for fucking fun.
- 21:13Speaker 1: So like done.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, But it's like it's a process, it's you know,
- 21:17Speaker 2: end results. So things I would add to my little
- 21:21Speaker 2: black book or what I'm adding to it. So home
- 21:24Speaker 2: and trades, like you know, a handyman, cleaners, pest control, plumbers, electricians.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Then health and body obviously a GP that you actually
- 21:34Speaker 2: trust and asks you the right questions makes you feel heard.
- 21:37Speaker 2: But a dentist, a physio, an optometrist, all of those
- 21:41Speaker 2: you're also like, there needs to be trust there, Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 2: because so many of these, you know, you can also
- 21:47Speaker 2: kind of get scammed a little bit. Food and drink
- 21:50Speaker 2: my favorite, you know, your reliable weeknight spot, whereas your
- 21:54Speaker 2: favorite happy hour is what's your favorite table? I just
- 21:57Speaker 2: love going to places and knowing the name of.
- 22:00Speaker 4: The person that works there and like speaking to them.
- 22:02Speaker 2: We went to a restaurant last Friday, Robin I, and
- 22:06Speaker 2: there was no one there and they were like, oh,
- 22:08Speaker 2: thanks for coming out tonight. Guys, like you know, winters,
- 22:12Speaker 2: not many people coming in, everyone just gets takeaway and
- 22:15Speaker 2: they were just the nicest and we ended up like
- 22:17Speaker 2: chatting with them and learning their names and it was
- 22:21Speaker 2: just really fun and really nice and like I just
- 22:24Speaker 2: love getting to know places like that. Then obviously the
- 22:28Speaker 2: glow up vibes, the hairstylists, the dermatologists, your nail girl,
- 22:33Speaker 2: the nail girl, the botox, you know, like who are
- 22:37Speaker 2: the people the eyebrow person, not me, don't like me
- 22:40Speaker 2: near them. Then you can also go into like services
- 22:43Speaker 2: and admin like accountants, financial advisors, wellness massage, therapists you know,
- 22:49Speaker 2: yoga studios, therapists who resets you, and then convenience like mechanics, pharmacists.
- 22:57Speaker 1: The list goes on to be honest, So it's good
- 23:00Speaker 1: to have that because especially when it comes to like
- 23:03Speaker 1: if it is a bet or for your own personal health,
- 23:06Speaker 1: somebody who's not going to diminish what you're feeling is
- 23:09Speaker 1: gonna you know, like validate you and.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Then also like support you through whatever it is.
- 23:15Speaker 4: So like my favorite thing this month has just been
- 23:17Speaker 4: having like.
- 23:18Speaker 2: A little black book of people that especially like in
- 23:21Speaker 2: the lead up to going to Europe, Like obviously I'm
- 23:24Speaker 2: always like hair tan browns, whatever, nails, like whatever it is,
- 23:30Speaker 2: and like being like cool off to go see my friends.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, the reunion.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, the two weeks before going away on holiday is
- 23:38Speaker 1: the most expensive time in.
- 23:39Speaker 3: A girl's life.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, literally, and the first day of that holiday is
- 23:43Speaker 2: the best she's ever looked.
- 23:45Speaker 3: One thousand. Yeah, well I love it.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Do you have one more?
- 23:52Speaker 5: Fuck?
- 23:52Speaker 3: I got one more.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It'll keep it short and sweet.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So my final July favorite is a new elevated Dad sneaker.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Oh I'm like, oh, I was with you, I was there,
- 24:07Speaker 2: you were there.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I was supposed to be in the video.
- 24:12Speaker 3: I think we all sing, m Yeah.
- 24:15Speaker 1: So I've got a new new Dad's sneaker in the
- 24:18Speaker 1: rotation and it's the new balanced twenty four l It's
- 24:23Speaker 1: like a two thousands inspired version of their running style.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But why I like it is because it has sneaker
- 24:30Speaker 1: proportions and maybe some of the other Dads like sneakers.
- 24:33Speaker 4: A little bit less chunky.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Yeah, a little less chunky than some of the other
- 24:36Speaker 3: Dad sneakers that I've been wearing.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So I feel like it just looks a little bit
- 24:39Speaker 1: more like elevated and you can dress it up or
- 24:41Speaker 1: dress it down. But again, I feel like this is
- 24:44Speaker 1: another thing like take a shot every time we say Europe.
- 24:46Speaker 3: But the reason that I got them is because I
- 24:48Speaker 3: needed a new.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Pair of sneakers that I would be able to wear
- 24:51Speaker 1: on some of those like twenty thousand step days.
- 24:55Speaker 3: And I have worn.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Them on a couple of like ten thousand step days
- 25:00Speaker 1: and they've been really comfortable. No blisters, feel very supportive,
- 25:03Speaker 1: my feet aren't hurting at the end of the day.
- 25:05Speaker 3: And they look core.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Speaking of that little like address book thing that you're like, yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 2: that feels good. The other thing that feels good is
- 25:13Speaker 2: when you would go to athleteses foot and they would
- 25:16Speaker 2: do the measuring thing on your foot with like the
- 25:19Speaker 2: little metal thing.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yeah, oh that was good.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I was with so hot when she was buying them,
- 25:23Speaker 2: and I was like literally had like my purse on
- 25:25Speaker 2: my shoulder and I was like, okay, cool, how they feel?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Okay, now go for the walk End store.
- 25:30Speaker 1: But yeah, and at the time of recording, they're actually
- 25:32Speaker 1: on sale, so oh how good.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah, keep an eye out because new.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Balance are always on sale here and there. Never buy
- 25:38Speaker 2: a sneaker full price, yeah, definitely, never buy a sneak.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Well that's wrap on our July favorites. What a chaotic episode.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for having us in
- 25:50Speaker 3: the ear holes. We love to be here. By bye.
