- Adam Rutz: If you have big goals, they're going to require big trade-offs. See, everybody in life wants the result. They want to get that full ride athletic scholarship. They want to get in great shape and have a great body. They want financial freedom and the nice house. But here's a question most people don't ask. What are you willing to trade for it? Because every meaningful goal comes with a price. If you want to be a great athlete, guess what? You're probably gonna have to trade some late nights out with your boys to get to bed early and get some quality sleep. If you want to build a great business, you're gonna have to trade some entertainment for more deep focused work. If you want to become financially successful, you might have to trade buying something that looks appealing today for investing in your future. That doesn't mean you have to eliminate everything you enjoy. It means you have to understand your priorities. Because you can't continually choose what feels best right now and expect to build the future that you say you want later. That's where your commitment really comes into play. Being interested in something says, I really want this goal. But being committed to it says, I understand what the goal requires and I'm willing to pay the price to get it. So think about your biggest goal you're chasing in your life right now. What is the number one thing that you're getting after every single day? What means the most to you? Think about that for yourself. What does achieving this require from me? What do I need to do more of to get there? And more importantly, what am I going to have to do less of to get there? Because your calendar will eventually expose what you truly value. And so will your bank account based on what you spend your money on. So today. Identify one trade-off you know you need to make. Commit to it. Because the goal is not free. And if the goal truly matters to you, then the trade-off is pretty damn worth it. Mindset, process, discipline, execution that's mental performance daily.
