- 0:00Speaker 1: Spoil Dad This Father's Day with the Chemist Warehouse Fragrance Sale.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Shop the huge range of big brand fragrances at the
- 0:06Speaker 2: lowest prices.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Chemist Warehouse, helping you spoil Dad This Father's Day.
- 0:10Speaker 1: This dude in Taiwan caught his wife cheating on him
- 0:13Speaker 1: in a really smart way. So basically, he was suspicious
- 0:17Speaker 1: something was up when he found someone else's toothbrush in their.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Home, right?
- 0:21Speaker 5: Well, I mean.
- 0:21Speaker 6: That's an obvious one, isn't it?
- 0:23Speaker 1: I mean, but, you know, it could just be a
- 0:24Speaker 1: spare toothbrush laying around. Women, like, I use a toothbrush
- 0:27Speaker 1: for cleaning as well.
- 0:28Speaker 6: Okay.
- 0:28Speaker 3: In little crevices.
- 0:30Speaker 6: Have you ever heard of the water bottle test? No. Okay,
- 0:33Speaker 6: so if you're, so stupid.
- 0:35Speaker 7: If you're suspicious that your partner's cheating, you go and
- 0:37Speaker 7: buy a water bottle, just any water bottle, so it's
- 0:39Speaker 7: not theirs.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah, a reusable one.
- 0:41Speaker 6: Yeah, reusable.
- 0:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 7: And you go, oh, you left your water bottle lying around.
- 0:45Speaker 7: If she's playing up, she'll go, oh, thanks, and quickly
- 0:47Speaker 7: hide it away because she thinks.
- 0:49Speaker 3: It's the other person.
- 0:51Speaker 6: And if she doesn't, so if Cain handed you a
- 0:53Speaker 6: water bottle that you'd never seen before, what would you say?
- 0:56Speaker 3: I'd go, that's not mine.
- 0:57Speaker 6: Exactly. It's a good test, isn't it? The water bottle test.
- 1:01Speaker 4: That is smart. Good one.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So, yeah, he thought something was up because of the toothbrush.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And then he watched the CCTV footage from outside of
- 1:09Speaker 1: the house and he saw a strange man dropping his
- 1:11Speaker 1: wife home.
- 1:12Speaker 3: And he was like, that's weird.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Why is this man here? So he thought about it
- 1:17Speaker 1: and he's like, hang on, we've got a robo vacuum.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Oh, we were giving them away last week. And said Robo.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Vacuum not only has like a built-in intercom system apparently,
- 1:28Speaker 1: but also has a camera. He activated the camera and
- 1:32Speaker 1: caught his wife with her lover.
- 1:35Speaker 3: He even recorded them getting busy.
- 1:37Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And filed for divorce using the video as evidence. Plot twist.
- 1:42Speaker 1: He successfully got the money in damages, but then he
- 1:45Speaker 1: landed in criminal court for invading her privacy and he
- 1:48Speaker 1: got prison time.
- 1:49Speaker 6: Jesus. Okay. But he caught us cheating.
- 1:51Speaker 3: The point in the story is the robo vac.
- 1:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I didn't even realize.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Obviously, it's got sensors on it because it has to
- 1:57Speaker 1: be able to detect where the walls and furniture is.
- 1:59Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I had no idea that some of these had cameras
- 2:02Speaker 1: on it. And why is there an intercom?
- 2:04Speaker 6: Yeah, to talk to.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Is it because it doubles as like a pet cam?
- 2:07Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I mean, like, I keep joking to my girlfriend, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 6: she bought me that cat feeder. Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 7: And I'm like, I reckon she really bought it so
- 2:14Speaker 7: she can see if I'm getting it on with another woman.
- 2:17Speaker 3: But can she also hear audio from it?
- 2:18Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Has she got the login too?
- 2:20Speaker 11: No.
- 2:21Speaker 6: So there the joke falls apart. But also the joke
- 2:23Speaker 6: would be I'd have to be banging the girl in
- 2:24Speaker 6: front of the- Not really, because.
- 2:26Speaker 3: If there's audio, she could just listen. If you ever
- 2:29Speaker 3: get a pocket dial from someone and you answer and
- 2:32Speaker 3: then you realize, oh, they didn't mean to call me,
- 2:33Speaker 3: do you just hang up or do you sit there?
- 2:35Speaker 6: No, I hang up.
- 2:36Speaker 12: Why?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Oh, I sit there for hours.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Why?
- 2:38Speaker 9: Why?
- 2:40Speaker 6: You just want to hear what's going on.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 6: There would be devices.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It's a conversation where they're talking about me or something.
- 2:45Speaker 6: I want to know.
- 2:46Speaker 3: There would be devices all over your house though.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Now.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Totally.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Everything.
- 2:49Speaker 3: You get smart fridges. You can probably hack that.
- 2:52Speaker 6: You could watch them.
- 2:53Speaker 7: So I think the lesson is if you're going to cheat,
- 2:55Speaker 7: you've got to cheat off site.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You've got to cheat off grid.
- 2:58Speaker 6: Not at home.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Not at home.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Not around any sort of technology because even like, Teslas
- 3:04Speaker 1: and things have trackers on them now.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Yeah, or your MetaSmart glasses.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I love that women are getting involved in the designing
- 3:10Speaker 1: of things. I feel like this is all our doing
- 3:13Speaker 1: and we know what we're doing.
- 3:14Speaker 6: All right, it's 25 past six and it is the
- 3:17Speaker 6: 3rd of September. Birthday wheel. Let's do it.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It is time for the birthday wheel, yes.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Call in if you want to play 131065. Now, it's
- 3:27Speaker 7: got to be a birthday today. If it is, you
- 3:29Speaker 7: instantly could win yourself a car.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yes, the Cherry Tiggo 4 Urban SUV.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So everyone who spins the wheel between now and the
- 3:37Speaker 1: end of the year has a chance to win that car.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But of course, by getting on air and spinning the wheel,
- 3:41Speaker 1: you also get a prize for your birthday.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Yeah, man. So you'll spin our wheel. What will you win?
- 3:46Speaker 6: We don't know. Call in.
- 3:47Speaker 3: There's a team of surprises on there, but it'll be good.
- 3:49Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 6: So if it's your birthday, call us up right now.
- 3:51Speaker 7: 131065 to get on for the birthday wheel here on KISS.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Dr. KISS is here with all your medical questions. It's
- 4:01Speaker 6: like a free doctor.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't swipe the Medicare card.
- 4:05Speaker 4: No.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Oh, we might need to put his mic on, Doug.
- 4:07Speaker 6: Yeah, let's put him on. You there?
- 4:09Speaker 4: Hello.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Is that better?
- 4:10Speaker 6: Yeah, welcome. You are here. All right, let's go. Bernie's
- 4:14Speaker 6: up first. Go for it, Bernie.
- 4:16Speaker 8: Okay, so I've got an ingrown toenail. I've had it
- 4:19Speaker 8: for like two years on.
- 4:20Speaker 11: My big toe.
- 4:20Speaker 8: It does not go away no matter what I do.
- 4:22Speaker 3: It's very painful.
- 4:23Speaker 12: Oh, what does it do? Why do you say ingrown toenail?
- 4:27Speaker 12: What does it look like?
- 4:28Speaker 1: So my toenail on the outside, on the right-hand side,
- 4:33Speaker 1: it's like growing in, like it's curling into my actual skin.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Oh.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 12: And does it get red and festery and pus coming out?
- 4:42Speaker 8: No, there's no pus, but it's like all red.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You know how they tell you to cut that V
- 4:48Speaker 1: in the middle of your toenail so that the nail
- 4:50Speaker 1: grows in and away from the corners?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Does that work?
- 4:52Speaker 12: I think that does a little bit.
- 4:53Speaker 6: Cut it? No, no, she was talking to the doctor.
- 4:56Speaker 6: You're right, Ernie.
- 4:56Speaker 3: No, she's very confused.
- 4:57Speaker 6: Hold there.
- 4:58Speaker 13: So what happens is that people will cut their nails
- 5:01Speaker 13: too short, and the very sharp corner then starts to
- 5:05Speaker 13: dig in, pushed in by shoes and so forth, and
- 5:08Speaker 13: it just keeps cutting the skin around the nail, which
- 5:11Speaker 13: then allows bugs and stuff to get in.
- 5:13Speaker 12: It goes around and around in circles.
- 5:14Speaker 6: Years ago, you would have died.
- 5:16Speaker 12: Well, potentially.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Back in the day.
- 5:18Speaker 1: My dad had a really bad ingrown toenail to the
- 5:21Speaker 1: point where he had to get surgery and now one
- 5:23Speaker 1: of his big toenails is just really long and skinny.
- 5:26Speaker 12: Yeah, so what they do is they go and chop
- 5:29Speaker 12: out those.
- 5:29Speaker 13: Sides of the nail so that it's flat and it's
- 5:32Speaker 13: not curly.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks odd.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Chelsea, you've got a rank toe, do you?
- 5:36Speaker 1: No, no, but yes, I do get really bad ingrown
- 5:38Speaker 1: toenails and it all started after I decided.
- 5:41Speaker 2: To start running because apparently.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Oh, running.
- 5:44Speaker 3: For no one. Yeah, it's not good for anything really,
- 5:46Speaker 3: but definitely not your toes.
- 5:47Speaker 13: Yeah, because that's pushing the corner of that nail deeper
- 5:50Speaker 13: and deeper into your toe every stride.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So what should Bernie do with this ingrown toenail that
- 5:54Speaker 1: won't go away? Do you suggest going to a podiatrist maybe?
- 5:58Speaker 13: Well, firstly, go and see your doctor. See how much
- 6:00Speaker 13: there's an infection there. Do you need some antibiotics or not?
- 6:03Speaker 13: And then, yes, a podiatrist can often help with at
- 6:06Speaker 13: least educating as well about what nail care you need
- 6:10Speaker 13: for that nail.
- 6:11Speaker 3: A podiatrist is a specialist foot doctor, Bernie.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 3: She said, what's that?
- 6:15Speaker 6: Poor doll.
- 6:16Speaker 3: She's only young.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Well, don't write down proctologist. That'd be a different one.
- 6:19Speaker 5: True.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Anal doctor, right?
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Did you ever think of being a proctologist when you
- 6:23Speaker 6: were training?
- 6:24Speaker 12: Oh, look, it was on the list.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Was it really?
- 6:26Speaker 1: Was there a certain kind of person who at uni
- 6:28Speaker 1: was like, I'm going.
- 6:29Speaker 3: To be a gynecologist? You know, like there was always
- 6:33Speaker 3: that one guy and you're like, of course you are.
- 6:35Speaker 13: Look, there are certain personalities that tend to go into
- 6:37Speaker 13: different streams. Yes, you know, all the bushwalkers become anesthetists,
- 6:42Speaker 13: and the list goes on.
- 6:43Speaker 12: You know, orthopaedic surgeons, they're always usually rugby players.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It just does feel like an odd one to want
- 6:48Speaker 1: to specialise in proctology, doesn't it?
- 6:50Speaker 6: Yeah, who would want to be the proctologist?
- 6:53Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 3: It must be a specific kind of person, yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Mitchell, you're on.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Hello.
- 6:58Speaker 14: Morning, guys.
- 7:00Speaker 8: How are we?
- 7:01Speaker 5: Good.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Go for it. What's your question?
- 7:03Speaker 14: Bit of a sensitive one. I've woken up and the
- 7:07Speaker 14: left testicle is about three to four times bigger than
- 7:10Speaker 14: the right one. And I'm a bit slightly tender.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Oh, did you get kicked in the balls?
- 7:17Speaker 14: No, no, I haven't.
- 7:19Speaker 13: And is it soft and squishy or does your nut
- 7:22Speaker 13: feel hard and knobbly?
- 7:24Speaker 14: Yeah, it feels slightly hard.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Hang on, which one is it supposed to feel like?
- 7:30Speaker 3: Like what's a normal.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Soft, yeah?
- 7:32Speaker 13: Well, a normal nut feels not dissimilar to a boiled egg.
- 7:36Speaker 12: A really hard boiled egg.
- 7:38Speaker 6: In a sack.
- 7:39Speaker 12: Take the shell off.
- 7:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 12: Dangling down in a sack.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 13: And then when we get a really big swelling that
- 7:45Speaker 13: occurs quickly.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Hardened.
- 7:47Speaker 12: It's often very... It's full of fluid. We call that
- 7:50Speaker 12: a hydroseal.
- 7:51Speaker 13: And your party trick is you can get your watch, sorry,
- 7:54Speaker 13: your torch off your phone and behind it, and it
- 7:56Speaker 13: will light up.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Why are you doing that at home, are you?
- 7:59Speaker 12: No, because I don't have one. But that's the party trick.
- 8:02Speaker 13: But when we're thinking about hard, knobbly ones, mate, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 13: we do then want to think about infection and down
- 8:08Speaker 13: the list. Could be a testicular cancer.
- 8:11Speaker 12: So they're the things that we always.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Go and get that checked out then, Mitchell. I have
- 8:14Speaker 6: a rule.
- 8:15Speaker 13: Any changes in the scrotum, see a doctor, get an
- 8:18Speaker 13: ultrasound because we can see what's happening.
- 8:20Speaker 7: Is it true one's always bigger or lower? That is right,
- 8:23Speaker 7: isn't it?
- 8:24Speaker 13: Look, we're not all symmetrical. So certainly one of your
- 8:27Speaker 13: nuts might be bigger. And yes, one often dangles down lower.
- 8:30Speaker 13: But the muscles pull them up and down anyway.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It's kind of like a woman's breasts.
- 8:35Speaker 6: One's bigger, isn't it? Like just slightly?
- 8:37Speaker 3: It depends. Some women, there's a big difference.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Like I know one girl who has to get special
- 8:41Speaker 1: made bras because one's like a D and one's like a.
- 8:44Speaker 6: You're kidding.
- 8:44Speaker 8: An A.
- 8:44Speaker 5: No.
- 8:45Speaker 8: No.
- 8:47Speaker 3: But that can happen if someone's had like a mastectomy.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Yeah, of course.
- 8:50Speaker 3: And they have one breast removed.
- 8:52Speaker 12: And all of that's very normal. Very normal.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Everything's normal.
- 8:55Speaker 12: It's normal to be a bit asymmetrical.
- 8:57Speaker 6: Right. Good on you, Dr. Kiss. Thank you.
- 9:00Speaker 7: 10 to 7 the time right now. Nat, you've got
- 9:03Speaker 7: to hit a celebrity news.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I do.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Coming up next.
- 9:05Speaker 6: All right. We'll do that right here on Kiss.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey, NFL player, husband of Taylor Swift. He had
- 9:12Speaker 1: a brand new episode of his podcast come out, New Heights,
- 9:14Speaker 1: that he does with his brother Jason. And he finally
- 9:17Speaker 1: started talking more about that wedding of his that we
- 9:19Speaker 1: all can't shut up about.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 3: The one that happened at Madison Square Garden back in July.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 3: And, yeah, we're still talking about it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So he kind of addressed direct to head on why
- 9:28Speaker 1: he actually chose or why they chose Madison Square Garden
- 9:33Speaker 1: as the venue because everyone was pretty shocked, particularly for
- 9:35Speaker 1: Taylor Swift.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It didn't seem like her vibe. This is what he said.
- 9:39Speaker 15: Thank you to everyone at MSG that allowed us to
- 9:41Speaker 15: do this. We wanted to do it somewhere where we
- 9:44Speaker 15: could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a
- 9:50Speaker 15: lot of distractions. And we needed it to be a
- 9:52Speaker 15: private feel. And MSG went above and beyond to give
- 9:56Speaker 15: us that.
- 9:57Speaker 6: Is it because it was indoors?
- 9:58Speaker 3: I think it's because that's... could literally create their own
- 10:01Speaker 3: universe in there, right? Because everything was blocked off.
- 10:03Speaker 1: You couldn't get any drones or helicopters for the footage
- 10:06Speaker 1: and stuff like that. So it's almost like they created
- 10:10Speaker 1: their own world away from the real world.
- 10:12Speaker 3: But the only thing that bothered me is he said intimate.
- 10:14Speaker 3: They had 1,000 guests. A thousand guests.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Also, it's indoors.
- 10:18Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 10:18Speaker 7: Like getting married indoors, the whole thing indoors.
- 10:21Speaker 3: If you're a smoker, where'd you go?
- 10:23Speaker 6: I think, didn't they find like a bunch of smokes
- 10:26Speaker 6: and vapes and stuff in the bin?
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they found like condoms and stuff.
- 10:29Speaker 6: They probably just did whatever they wanted.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Oh, they found an ovulation test on the ground in
- 10:32Speaker 3: the bin out the front.
- 10:33Speaker 6: I reckon you could just do whatever you want in there.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Oh, they would have allowed whatever for Taylor Swift and
- 10:40Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey. Travis also gave a massive thank you to
- 10:43Speaker 1: their wedding celebrant, Adam Sandler.
- 10:46Speaker 15: I can't say thank you to everyone without to give
- 10:48Speaker 15: a special thank you to the Adam Sandler.
- 10:51Speaker 8: Oh, my gosh.
- 10:52Speaker 15: He has been just the best person ever. You're on
- 10:57Speaker 15: this planet. And for him to be up for getting
- 11:01Speaker 15: ordained in the state of New York and marrying me
- 11:04Speaker 15: and Taylor in the way he did in the very,
- 11:07Speaker 15: you know, Sandman style and giving us more than we
- 11:10Speaker 15: could have ever imagined in that moment, knowing that it
- 11:13Speaker 15: was the biggest night of both of our lives.
- 11:15Speaker 6: You reckon they paid him?
- 11:18Speaker 3: No, he wouldn't have taken money. Also doesn't need it.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I suppose.
- 11:21Speaker 3: He's got like his Happy Madison Productions has the deal
- 11:24Speaker 3: with Netflix now. Yeah. And he's like making bank.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Such responsibility to do that though.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I would love to be a celebrant for someone one day.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I think I'd do a really good job.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I think you would. You know, you've got to go
- 11:34Speaker 6: and I didn't realize.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I know.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I looked into it.
- 11:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And it's not cheap. I looked into it as like
- 11:38Speaker 3: a side hustle once to do. And then I just, yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 6: You got over it?
- 11:42Speaker 3: Well, I looked at the price of it and thought,
- 11:44Speaker 3: am I really going to use this?
- 11:45Speaker 6: There's good money in it though, isn't it?
- 11:47Speaker 3: Absolutely. Like what would you charge? Anything wedding related, you'd
- 11:50Speaker 3: make good money for.
- 11:51Speaker 7: So if you were doing someone's wedding this Saturday, do
- 11:54Speaker 7: you know what you could charge?
- 11:55Speaker 6: Just like 5k more?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Oh, I think it's a couple of grand. I don't
- 11:58Speaker 3: think 5k.
- 11:59Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yeah. No.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And also I've thought about emceeing like the receptions and
- 12:04Speaker 1: stuff like that, but actually that seems like, cause then
- 12:06Speaker 1: you got to hang around all night and make sure
- 12:07Speaker 1: like the wedding element, you're kind of reading from a script.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And you just got to make sure. Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And then you're done for the day.
- 12:12Speaker 6: So if a radio doesn't turn out for you, you
- 12:15Speaker 6: can always do that. Yeah, sure.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Um, also 50 cent. I love 50 cent.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Don't you? Don't dislike him.
- 12:22Speaker 1: He hasn't had new music in ages, but he's since
- 12:24Speaker 1: gone on to produce TV.
- 12:26Speaker 3: He produced Power.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But also he was very funny when all the Diddy
- 12:30Speaker 1: stuff was happening on social media and stuff like that.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He's just a massive troll.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Right.
- 12:33Speaker 1: He also made that whole documentary about Diddy where he
- 12:36Speaker 1: basically trolled.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Oh, Diddy really?
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, hates him.
- 12:37Speaker 8: Oh, wow.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Hates him.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But anyway, he shared his favorite secret to enjoying life.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I reckon you'll like this, Mikey.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Take a listen.
- 12:44Speaker 12: I turn off my phone.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's smart.
- 12:46Speaker 6: That's it.
- 12:47Speaker 4: When you can get away from everything for a little while,
- 12:49Speaker 4: it feels good.
- 12:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 12: But I only need like a day or so.
- 12:52Speaker 6: Yeah, man. I totally agree with that. I leave my
- 12:55Speaker 6: phone like.
- 12:57Speaker 3: When you go for a walk, you don't take your phone,
- 12:58Speaker 3: which I find odd.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Yeah, even if I go, like, shopping, I just pull
- 13:02Speaker 6: my wallet out. Old school wallet still got that.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Oh, do you pull out a physical card, you boomer?
- 13:07Speaker 7: Oh, it's like a card holder, and I leave the
- 13:09Speaker 7: phone in the car. Your phones are the worst thing
- 13:11Speaker 7: in the world. I reckon we're going to look back
- 13:13Speaker 7: on it one day and go, wow, these were, like, please.
- 13:16Speaker 3: No way, because the technology will only progress and we'll
- 13:19Speaker 3: be using something else. We'll probably have a phone built
- 13:22Speaker 3: into our eyes.
- 13:23Speaker 6: I don't know. Can you take time off your phone?
- 13:27Speaker 3: Uh, I do like a couple of hours.
- 13:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Like I have a friend who likes to switch it
- 13:31Speaker 1: off for a whole weekend sometimes. And I'm just like,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I'm not, I don't have trouble with my phone. So
- 13:36Speaker 1: I don't feel the need to do that.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Like if I had a negative relationship with myself due
- 13:40Speaker 3: to what I'm seeing on social media.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Yep.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I'd more actively take time off, but I'm
- 13:45Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 13:45Speaker 7: There's other things you can do too. Like as I
- 13:47Speaker 7: was driving in this morning with my girlfriend, we were talking.
- 13:50Speaker 7: She goes, oh, look on Instagram. And she goes, oh, no,
- 13:52Speaker 7: I've deleted the app. So she doesn't have Instagram on
- 13:54Speaker 7: her phone. I'm sure she'll re-download it.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Is that because she noticed she was spending too much
- 13:58Speaker 3: time on it?
- 13:58Speaker 6: She keeps scrolling on it.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Oh, I looked at my screen time the other day
- 14:01Speaker 1: for Instagram. I'll see if I can get it up
- 14:03Speaker 1: quickly now.
- 14:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I bet it's terrible.
- 14:05Speaker 3: It's not great. Yeah. I wonder if anyone, everyone out there, look,
- 14:08Speaker 3: I wonder if mine's bad comparatively.
- 14:09Speaker 6: That would be the worst.
- 14:11Speaker 1: No, I don't know if it's, yeah, I do a
- 14:14Speaker 1: lot of mindless scrolling.
- 14:16Speaker 6: That's the thing. So the other thing I've done, I
- 14:18Speaker 6: don't delete the app. I log out.
- 14:20Speaker 7: So you can log in and it's just a bit
- 14:22Speaker 7: of a control mechanism. So it's like, it doesn't take
- 14:24Speaker 7: long to log in obviously, but it makes you question
- 14:27Speaker 7: why you're logging in.
- 14:28Speaker 6: You know what I mean, Sean?
- 14:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 16: I've started leaving the phone behind as well. Like I
- 14:31Speaker 16: know you said that you leave it when you go
- 14:33Speaker 16: on a walk. I do the same thing. And you
- 14:35Speaker 16: realize that, It is better without it.
- 14:38Speaker 6: Totally, man. Like yesterday, I left it in the car.
- 14:39Speaker 6: I went for a swim, laid down on the sand
- 14:42Speaker 6: for a bit, and I looked around. Everyone was on
- 14:44Speaker 6: their phone.
- 14:45Speaker 7: It's like, why have you even come to the beach
- 14:46Speaker 7: if all you're doing is sitting and playing on your
- 14:48Speaker 7: damn phone?
- 14:48Speaker 6: Because it's... Be in the moment, brah.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Well, my daily average on Instagram is one hour and
- 14:53Speaker 1: 48 minutes.
- 14:55Speaker 3: What's everyone out there?
- 14:57Speaker 6: You're never getting that time back. Two hours and six minutes. Oh,
- 15:00Speaker 6: things worse.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Anyone else worse than that?
- 15:03Speaker 5: 133, so not too bad.
- 15:04Speaker 8: Okay.
- 15:04Speaker 3: In the middle.
- 15:07Speaker 5: 133.
- 15:07Speaker 3: 117, our social guy has the least.
- 15:09Speaker 6: He's on there less than you are, Nat.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't see 1 hour 48 as a problem.
- 15:14Speaker 1: 1 hour 48 when I'm awake for like 16 hours.
- 15:17Speaker 9: A day, nah.
- 15:18Speaker 6: You don't need that amount of time.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but I work on my phone.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Like I use my phone for celebrity news. I use
- 15:25Speaker 1: my phone, yeah, for research.
- 15:27Speaker 6: Right, so you're going on holidays. We're all having a
- 15:29Speaker 6: break end of September or something. You're not. No, I'll
- 15:33Speaker 6: be here. Thanks. But whatever. The point is, will it
- 15:36Speaker 6: still be an hour 48? No, it'll be more.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Because I have nothing else to do.
- 15:42Speaker 11: All right.
- 15:42Speaker 7: Three past seven right now. Let's do our Pop Queers.
- 15:45Speaker 7: Your chance to win thousands every morning. First chance to
- 15:49Speaker 7: play now. 13-1065. You want to get on for the
- 15:52Speaker 7: Pop Queers.
- 15:56Speaker 1: We have Magnus Ferrell, the son of Will Ferrell, live
- 15:59Speaker 1: with us on Kiss Breakfast.
- 16:00Speaker 6: Hello, mate. How are you?
- 16:01Speaker 5: I'm so good.
- 16:02Speaker 9: How are you?
- 16:02Speaker 6: We are good. So you're single, asleep talking, rocking the
- 16:06Speaker 6: charts all over the world, including here in Australia. Have
- 16:10Speaker 6: you been here?
- 16:11Speaker 8: I have not, no.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Well, get on a bloody plane.
- 16:13Speaker 1: No, I want to know, because I always hear what Americans'
- 16:16Speaker 1: perception of Australia is like, and it's normally so wrong.
- 16:20Speaker 3: So I want to know, when you think of Australia.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Are you one of those people that thinks there's kangaroos
- 16:24Speaker 1: just hopping around on the street everywhere or there's spiders
- 16:27Speaker 1: going to bite you and kill you everywhere you go?
- 16:29Speaker 4: A little.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Like, just a little bit. I know that's so wrong, but, like,
- 16:34Speaker 5: a little bit. In the back of your mind, you
- 16:35Speaker 5: kind of want.
- 16:36Speaker 11: Australia to look like that with kangaroos.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:40Speaker 11: I don't even know.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Koalas everywhere.
- 16:41Speaker 6: No, it's just not a thing. Whereas Australians, we think
- 16:44Speaker 6: you're all walking around with guns in America. You got
- 16:46Speaker 6: a gun on you?
- 16:47Speaker 5: That's kind of true, though.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Depending on where you are, right? You're in California?
- 16:51Speaker 5: Yeah. Yes.
- 16:53Speaker 6: Well, then no, right?
- 16:55Speaker 11: No, no, no. Yeah, gun laws are pretty strict here.
- 16:56Speaker 11: I mean, dude, you could go to a Big Five and, like,
- 16:59Speaker 11: purchase a weapon. That's the crazy part.
- 17:01Speaker 10: That is mental.
- 17:01Speaker 3: That is really weird to us.
- 17:03Speaker 6: A Big Five's like a Kmart or something, right?
- 17:06Speaker 5: It's a sporting goods show, yeah, or a sporting goods shop.
- 17:08Speaker 3: So it'd be like they're going to, I don't know, Kmart?
- 17:11Speaker 6: Yeah, no, no, but a sporting contest. Oh, Rebel, Rebel Sport.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Rebel Sport.
- 17:14Speaker 7: Going to get some new sand shoes and coming home
- 17:17Speaker 7: with a gun.
- 17:18Speaker 6: That's mental. Exactly.
- 17:20Speaker 3: That's actually crazy.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Hey, I want to talk about this song, Asleep Talking.
- 17:23Speaker 1: It's a really cool vibe and it's fully just not
- 17:27Speaker 1: what I expected when I heard.
- 17:29Speaker 5: What did you expect?
- 17:30Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:31Speaker 1: When I heard, like, Will Ferrell's son is a musician,
- 17:34Speaker 1: for some reason my brain went two places, rock or opera.
- 17:38Speaker 3: And I think the opera comes from the end of
- 17:41Speaker 3: Step Brothers.
- 17:42Speaker 11: Yes.
- 17:43Speaker 3: And I just imagined you to be really operatic. And, like,
- 17:46Speaker 3: your dad's actually got a really good voice as well.
- 17:48Speaker 3: But I want to know what's... He can kind of sing.
- 17:51Speaker 5: It's kind of crazy. I didn't really realise it, but
- 17:54Speaker 5: I've seen all these clips now.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Absolutely he can.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But I want to know, who are your biggest musical influences?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Aside from your dad.
- 18:02Speaker 11: I don't know if I would say I have my
- 18:06Speaker 11: biggest musical influences. I have a long list of musical
- 18:10Speaker 11: influences because I think there's just so many great musicians
- 18:13Speaker 11: and so many great artists in the past that.
- 18:16Speaker 5: are so good like I love Silk Sonic I love Stevie.
- 18:19Speaker 11: Wonder yeah um Marvin Gaye like Gap Band uh Bobby
- 18:24Speaker 11: Caldwell like anything old soul um.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Jamiroquai I could go like I could go on and.
- 18:29Speaker 3: On and on oh how good is Jamiroquai What happened
- 18:33Speaker 3: to him?
- 18:34Speaker 1: You know who we were talking about the other day
- 18:36Speaker 1: on this show? Remember Mika?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Was Mika a thing and he had, like, big girls,
- 18:40Speaker 3: you are beautiful, or are you too young for this?
- 18:42Speaker 6: Or was it not a thing?
- 18:43Speaker 1: No, you know Grace Kelly because your dad, I think,
- 18:45Speaker 1: actually sung Grace Kelly in a viral video once. with
- 18:48Speaker 1: another famous person. Well, bring back Jamiroquai and Mika, I say.
- 18:53Speaker 3: They're the two of the same level.
- 18:55Speaker 1: You're also nominated for a VMA coming up for Best
- 18:58Speaker 1: New Artist.
- 18:59Speaker 3: How does that feel?
- 19:01Speaker 11: The fact that that's a real sentence I get to
- 19:03Speaker 11: say is crazy to me. Like every time I say it,
- 19:06Speaker 11: it's just unbelievable. Yeah, I mean, that was like the
- 19:10Speaker 11: cherry on top. I went with VMAs last year and
- 19:13Speaker 11: I was like, man, I'd really love to be here.
- 19:15Speaker 5: In consideration and here we are. So it's just bonkers.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 3: How much can change in a year?
- 19:21Speaker 1: Now, other people that are nominated, Miles Smith, Sienna Spiro,
- 19:25Speaker 1: Stella Lefty, all huge names as well. If it can't
- 19:28Speaker 1: be you that wins, which by the way, my vote
- 19:30Speaker 1: is with you. If it can't be you that wins,
- 19:32Speaker 1: who do you want to see win?
- 19:33Speaker 11: Oh man, it's really hard to decide because everyone's so talented,
- 19:37Speaker 11: but the one that has had the biggest effect on
- 19:41Speaker 11: me is Sienna Spyro.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Her voice is just unreal. I was lucky enough to
- 19:45Speaker 5: see her sing a song live and I don't know.
- 19:50Speaker 11: Know.
- 19:50Speaker 5: It just falls into that thing of, like, she's a
- 19:52Speaker 5: real musician. It's crazy.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah, raw talent, vulnerable-sounding voice. She's amazing.
- 19:57Speaker 6: We will be back with Magnus Ferrell after this. He
- 20:00Speaker 6: is going to tell us what his dad, Will Ferrell,
- 20:04Speaker 6: is really like. We'll do that next right here on Kids.
- 20:07Speaker 6: We are back with Magnus Ferrell.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Now, can we talk about your dad for a second?
- 20:11Speaker 3: Because I'm sure you get sick of talking about him.
- 20:13Speaker 1: But also what we really like about you is the
- 20:16Speaker 1: fact that you don't shy away from your nepo baby status.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Like you embrace it. And you kind of just are like,
- 20:22Speaker 3: why would I get angry about it?
- 20:23Speaker 6: It is what it is.
- 20:24Speaker 3: So is there ever been a moment where you've sat
- 20:28Speaker 3: there and wished... you weren't the son of.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Will Ferrell or you've always loved that your dad was
- 20:33Speaker 1: a huge actor who made these movies.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Everyone around the world is quoting to this day.
- 20:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know.
- 20:40Speaker 11: I think like I just have to acknowledge the immense
- 20:43Speaker 11: amount of privilege I've had.
- 20:46Speaker 5: I also like I've.
- 20:48Speaker 11: Been lucky enough to chase a dream and been lucky
- 20:51Speaker 11: enough to do this thing full time.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Like some people don't even get a chance to. So
- 20:55Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 20:57Speaker 11: It's that, but, like, I also have worked incredibly hard
- 21:00Speaker 11: to get here.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 21:02Speaker 11: And continue to put in the work to get better
- 21:05Speaker 11: that I believe.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I don't know, it balances itself. No, you deserve to
- 21:10Speaker 3: be where you are.
- 21:10Speaker 1: And, honestly, anyone who hears your music would go, okay,
- 21:13Speaker 1: this isn't a situation where he's where he is because
- 21:16Speaker 1: it's because he's a talented musician.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, obviously it's opened some doors. I'm not
- 21:22Speaker 5: going to, like, deny that.
- 21:24Speaker 11: Yeah. You have to walk through the doorway and if
- 21:28Speaker 11: the music was bad, which, by the way, that has
- 21:30Speaker 11: happened before where the music wasn't ready yet.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 21:34Speaker 11: Yeah, and so it's like that can just happen. You
- 21:37Speaker 11: still have to make really good quality music.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Totally.
- 21:40Speaker 7: Do you get over people asking you about your dad then?
- 21:44Speaker 6: That could get annoying at some point.
- 21:46Speaker 11: No, I think that's kind of part of the thing.
- 21:49Speaker 5: It's like I get to do all these things.
- 21:52Speaker 11: I get to experience all these cool life experiences and
- 21:56Speaker 11: all I have to do is talk about my dad
- 21:58Speaker 11: for a little bit.
- 21:58Speaker 5: It's not.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Okay.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Well, then I'm going to ask two more questions about
- 22:01Speaker 3: your dad.
- 22:02Speaker 1: First one, how old were you when you realised that
- 22:04Speaker 1: your dad was Will Ferrell?
- 22:06Speaker 3: As in, like, the celebrity, not your dad.
- 22:09Speaker 5: I was probably, like.
- 22:11Speaker 11: Like 11 or 12 when I fully got to see
- 22:13Speaker 11: the full scope of things.
- 22:14Speaker 6: That old?
- 22:15Speaker 7: So when you were before that, what did you think
- 22:18Speaker 7: dad did? Or like, yeah, that's strange that you were older.
- 22:22Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I knew.
- 22:23Speaker 11: I mean, like I knew he was an actor, but
- 22:25Speaker 11: it didn't, you know, they made sure we had such
- 22:29Speaker 11: normal upbringings that.
- 22:32Speaker 5: You know, it didn't really strike us that he was famous.
- 22:36Speaker 6: That's great. But I'm guessing as well that you're in California, LA, right?
- 22:41Speaker 7: You'd be friends with so many other people that have
- 22:43Speaker 7: parents that are actors or musicians or producers or it
- 22:46Speaker 7: had just become normal.
- 22:47Speaker 1: That's also when we think that about California, like while
- 22:50Speaker 1: I was asking what you think of Australia, is that
- 22:52Speaker 1: the truth that in California it's just everyone's famous everywhere,
- 22:55Speaker 1: like walking around or not really?
- 22:57Speaker 5: No, that's not. I wouldn't say that's true, no.
- 23:00Speaker 11: Um, yeah, you see the occasional celebrity, I guess, but we're,
- 23:04Speaker 11: you know, they're all just.
- 23:04Speaker 3: A pretty normal life.
- 23:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: The last question on your dad is your favorite character
- 23:08Speaker 1: that he's ever played.
- 23:10Speaker 6: That's it. I'll leave it at that with your dad.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Uh, yeah, I mean, probably... Ron Burgundy. I think Anchorman.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Anchorman, there we go. Yeah, love it.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Hey, the Jonas Brothers are coming to Australia for the
- 23:22Speaker 1: NFL and they're going to play, it's like a full
- 23:25Speaker 1: NFL game that's being played in Melbourne and they're performing
- 23:27Speaker 1: at the halftime show.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Now, I know that you're lined up to support the Jonas.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Brothers on tour and I'm wondering, is there a way
- 23:34Speaker 1: that we can also get you to Australia to perform
- 23:36Speaker 1: the NFL halftime show in Melbourne?
- 23:38Speaker 5: No, that'd be really fun. I mean, if we can
- 23:39Speaker 5: make it happen, let's make it happen.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Who do we have to speak to, Mikey? Do you
- 23:42Speaker 3: know anyone we can make a call?
- 23:45Speaker 5: NFL, why?
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll call the head of the NFL.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Yeah, just call up Roger Goodell and see what he says.
- 23:49Speaker 4: All right.
- 23:50Speaker 6: And that is the head of the NFL that we
- 23:51Speaker 6: did not know.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we were like, who is it? Is it on
- 23:54Speaker 3: my notes?
- 23:55Speaker 6: Magnus' new single, Asleep Talking, is out now.
- 23:59Speaker 3: It is so good.
- 24:00Speaker 6: Everyone's loving it, mate. Thank you for being on the
- 24:03Speaker 6: show and get your ass to Australia at some point,
- 24:05Speaker 6: all right?
- 24:05Speaker 5: I appreciate it. I will very soon.
- 24:07Speaker 6: All right, a hit of celeb news coming up with
- 24:09Speaker 6: Nat right after this. You are listening to KISS. Good morning.
- 24:12Speaker 4: All right, thank you, Sean.
- 24:13Speaker 6: Let's go to Nat, get a hit of celeb news.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Laverne Cox is the transgender woman who you know mostly
- 24:19Speaker 1: from the Netflix series Orange is the New Black.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Do you know the one I'm talking about?
- 24:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I had a girlfriend that was really into that.
- 24:25Speaker 6: I was like, I don't care about this lesbian female prison.
- 24:26Speaker 6: It was huge at the time.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So she also became the first transgender person to be
- 24:31Speaker 1: nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in.
- 24:34Speaker 3: The acting category.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Now, she was recently on Kiki Palmer's podcast and was
- 24:38Speaker 1: telling a story about when she went on a Raya
- 24:40Speaker 1: date recently.
- 24:41Speaker 3: You know Raya?
- 24:42Speaker 6: It's the famous dating app.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Well, it's supposed to be, but in Australia, Raya is
- 24:46Speaker 3: not hard to get onto.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Why is there a bunch of nobodies on there?
- 24:48Speaker 3: There's just tradies on there. I don't know how they're
- 24:50Speaker 3: getting on.
- 24:50Speaker 9: Really?
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you just have to refer someone.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But then certain celebrities can't get on, but then they'll
- 24:56Speaker 1: let on, I don't know, bloody Mick the Builder.
- 24:59Speaker 8: Really?
- 25:00Speaker 10: Maybe they need, maybe there's not enough famous people, so
- 25:03Speaker 10: they'll just have to let trainees on. I reckon that's
- 25:06Speaker 10: what's happening in Australia. But anyway, this is what happened
- 25:08Speaker 10: when she went on a date with someone she met
- 25:10Speaker 10: in Raya.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I was so offended. This one guy, after our first date.
- 25:16Speaker 4: He.
- 25:16Speaker 12: Sends me a proposal for a documentary.
- 25:20Speaker 3: I was like, do you understand how many people want
- 25:23Speaker 3: to get a meeting with me?
- 25:24Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I don't need to be on Raya for meetings.
- 25:28Speaker 6: So not looking a date.
- 25:30Speaker 1: So like she thought it was for a date. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: then she goes on the date with this guy and
- 25:33Speaker 1: he asks her to be in his documentary. So he
- 25:36Speaker 1: saw her and thought, oh, this is my time. And
- 25:38Speaker 1: that's how I'm going to get her.
- 25:39Speaker 6: I like the hustle. I mean, it's hard to get
- 25:41Speaker 6: meetings with famous people.
- 25:42Speaker 1: But also dates are like job interviews enough. The last
- 25:44Speaker 1: thing you want is to actually be offered a job.
- 25:47Speaker 3: On a date.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Also, Nicole Kidman is in the sequel of Practical Magic,
- 25:54Speaker 1: Practical Magic 2, which is coming out soon. And she
- 25:56Speaker 1: was doing an interview with her niece, actually, where they
- 25:59Speaker 1: got to talking about the fact that their family's into
- 26:02Speaker 1: a bit of witchcraft stuff.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Like it runs in their family.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It all stems back to the Kidman grandma who was
- 26:07Speaker 1: into it and kind of passed it down the line.
- 26:09Speaker 1: So anyway, Nicole's niece asked Nicole what her favorite spell
- 26:13Speaker 1: is because apparently she does them herself in real life.
- 26:15Speaker 3: And this is what she said. You know this about
- 26:17Speaker 3: the Kidman women.
- 26:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 26:18Speaker 6: We sway to the more magical side.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Some people would say witches. That all makes sense now.
- 26:24Speaker 3: What are your favorite spells?
- 26:26Speaker 5: Love spells.
- 26:27Speaker 3: But if I'm a little bit upset with someone, I
- 26:29Speaker 3: will write their name and put it in the freezer.
- 26:31Speaker 8: What does that do?
- 26:33Speaker 5: Freezes the mouth.
- 26:34Speaker 6: She sounds like she's off for the fairies.
- 26:36Speaker 3: That name in the freezer thing, I've heard, well, I
- 26:40Speaker 3: did it.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Oh, so you're off for the fairies too then if
- 26:44Speaker 6: you believe in this stuff?
- 26:45Speaker 3: No, so it's just a thing that goes.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Whose name was it?
- 26:47Speaker 3: Kane's.
- 26:48Speaker 6: You put your fiancé' s name in the freezer. Lucky that
- 26:50Speaker 6: stuff doesn't work.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I think I've told him before, but maybe I haven't.
- 26:54Speaker 1: So, yeah, he might be finding this out for the
- 26:56Speaker 1: first time right now, but we dated– and then we
- 26:59Speaker 1: stopped talking.
- 27:00Speaker 3: And me and a few friends were doing it just
- 27:03Speaker 3: for like a bit of fun. And we were all
- 27:05Speaker 3: putting someone's name in the freezer and I put his
- 27:07Speaker 3: name in the freezer. So it obviously doesn't work. Or
- 27:11Speaker 3: it does and it makes them better.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Because then we came back, we got engaged, we're expecting
- 27:16Speaker 1: a child.
- 27:17Speaker 6: It doesn't work. But you girls can go off with
- 27:19Speaker 6: that woo-woo stuff. I just can't.
- 27:21Speaker 7: Get there like with my head and if i did
- 27:23Speaker 7: it's one thing when i was dating talking of if
- 27:26Speaker 7: a chick started going on about that and star sirens
- 27:29Speaker 7: and the universe and uh everything happens for a reason
- 27:33Speaker 7: and i'm just like glaze over not interested no woo
- 27:36Speaker 7: woo for.
- 27:36Speaker 6: Me sure you agree yeah most blokes.
- 27:38Speaker 7: Are just like no but you can even i know
- 27:40Speaker 7: you're a very sensible smart girl but you can still entertain.
- 27:43Speaker 6: That stuff yeah it's fun is it because it's fun
- 27:45Speaker 6: is that what it.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Is yeah why not and it doesn't harm anyone.
- 27:48Speaker 6: Yeah but you don't want a dude to be into
- 27:49Speaker 6: that do you really I.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Mean, entertain me, though.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Really?
- 27:54Speaker 6: Shut it down. I go, no, not real.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Yeah, look, like if I started telling my fiancé about it,
- 28:01Speaker 1: he'd entertain me to a little bit, but then he'd
- 28:02Speaker 1: also just be like, come on.
- 28:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:05Speaker 3: So it's just not a hard no for me.
- 28:07Speaker 7: Hey, talking of dating, I want to run this past you, Nat.
- 28:11Speaker 7: A three-step program. For successful first dates.
- 28:16Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 28:16Speaker 3: We unlocked the code.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 7: According to these women, so I'll run it past you,
- 28:20Speaker 7: see if you think this would work or not.
- 28:22Speaker 6: We'll do that right after Alex Warren. Wow, that concert
- 28:25Speaker 6: on Friday night that I was at. Here he is
- 28:27Speaker 6: right now. Such a liar. I was there.
- 28:30Speaker 4: All righty.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Dating sucks. We all talk about that. I don't think
- 28:33Speaker 7: anyone goes, oh, I enjoy dating.
- 28:35Speaker 1: They must because there's those people who don't settle down
- 28:39Speaker 1: or want to commit, so they must enjoy dating.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 7: Yeah, even then, though, I feel like they hate it,
- 28:43Speaker 7: but they just haven't found the right person.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I think they like playing the field.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 28:48Speaker 3: Multiple people giving them attention at the least.
- 28:50Speaker 6: How about this for a job?
- 28:52Speaker 7: Two online matchmakers, Alexia and Ellie, they have shared the
- 28:57Speaker 7: exact things you need to do in the run-up to
- 29:00Speaker 7: the first date that will make sure it's successful.
- 29:03Speaker 6: Now, look, I'll warn you, they're annoying and American.
- 29:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 6: Well, let's listen to these annoying American.
- 29:08Speaker 3: My favorite thing to listen to.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Here we go and see what you think.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Step one.
- 29:12Speaker 2: If you are on a dating app like Hinge or
- 29:15Speaker 2: if you're sliding into her DMs. You need to relocate
- 29:17Speaker 2: the conversation to text messages.
- 29:20Speaker 8: Ask for her phone number if you want to ask
- 29:22Speaker 8: her out.
- 29:23Speaker 2: She doesn't want you to ask her to hang out
- 29:25Speaker 2: on Snapchat or Instagram.
- 29:28Speaker 3: That's embarrassing.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Number two, after you have set the date and you
- 29:32Speaker 2: have set the time and you have made a plan.
- 29:35Speaker 8: Don't just stop there.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Continue talking and getting to know her. If you wait
- 29:39Speaker 2: too long and days she low-key gonna forget about you
- 29:42Speaker 2: step three when you get to her house or wherever
- 29:44Speaker 2: you're picking her up from two things you go to
- 29:46Speaker 2: her door and you open her car door Very simple,
- 29:49Speaker 2: very easy.
- 29:50Speaker 8: Don't text out your shirt.
- 29:51Speaker 6: Don't knock on her door.
- 29:52Speaker 3: You already open doors all the time.
- 29:53Speaker 8: It shouldn't be that hard to open.
- 29:54Speaker 3: It for a girl you like.
- 29:56Speaker 6: Why am I going to your house? You're meeting me out.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Let's recap over these and simplify here.
- 30:01Speaker 6: I was writing notes.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So firstly, their tip was conversation on text, not on
- 30:06Speaker 1: Instagram or Snapchat.
- 30:07Speaker 6: Take it off app.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I think first date can be on app because then
- 30:11Speaker 1: if you don't like them, they don't have your number.
- 30:12Speaker 6: So you're wrong, girls.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I think that one we can agree with.
- 30:15Speaker 7: On that, my cousin had one, the poor bloke. He
- 30:18Speaker 7: met a chick on Bumble.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Is this your cousin that's been single since when we
- 30:21Speaker 3: last worked together?
- 30:22Speaker 6: Yeah, still single. How you doing, mate?
- 30:23Speaker 8: Morning.
- 30:24Speaker 6: What's his name?
- 30:25Speaker 3: David. Hi, David. I wish you well.
- 30:28Speaker 7: He matched a girl on Bumble, lined up a date,
- 30:31Speaker 7: went to meet her. He's sitting in the cafe or
- 30:33Speaker 7: whatever waiting for her.
- 30:35Speaker 6: She's not here. She's not here. He went to check
- 30:37Speaker 6: the app to text her.
- 30:38Speaker 3: She unmatched him, didn't she?
- 30:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 6: Like, how far away are you? She just unmatched him.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Do you reckon she rocked up, saw him and unmatched him?
- 30:44Speaker 6: He's a good looking bloke.
- 30:45Speaker 12: Really?
- 30:45Speaker 3: Then why is he single?
- 30:47Speaker 6: I don't know. You'd have to ask him. Call in, David.
- 30:49Speaker 11: 131065.
- 30:50Speaker 6: Yeah, David, can you call in?
- 30:51Speaker 3: I want to ask you some questions.
- 30:52Speaker 6: He's a bit shy. That might be why.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Now, the tip number two they gave was keep communication
- 30:56Speaker 1: going in the run-up to the first date.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Again, disagree.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I think lock in the date. Don't ghost and go
- 31:01Speaker 1: completely quiet. But if you text too much, you lose
- 31:05Speaker 1: the mystery.
- 31:06Speaker 6: What are you going to talk about?
- 31:07Speaker 3: What are you going to talk about on the date?
- 31:08Speaker 6: I remember that being the awkward thing.
- 31:10Speaker 7: Like, let's say I lined up a date on Tuesday
- 31:13Speaker 7: and the date is for Saturday.
- 31:15Speaker 9: Yes.
- 31:15Speaker 6: You're like, well, what do you do?
- 31:17Speaker 3: I would say you locked it in on Tuesday.
- 31:19Speaker 1: You touch base with them on Thursday and again the
- 31:21Speaker 1: morning of the date. Like every couple of days and
- 31:23Speaker 1: just say, hey, hope your day's been or your week's
- 31:25Speaker 1: been going good.
- 31:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Blah, blah, blah.
- 31:27Speaker 3: But like, yeah. I think if you keep it going
- 31:30Speaker 3: in depth where it's all day, every day.
- 31:31Speaker 6: Oh, you've got to know everything about them.
- 31:33Speaker 1: But also then you get into the stupid games of playing, oh,
- 31:35Speaker 1: I won't reply for a couple of hours.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I hate that shit.
- 31:38Speaker 6: I used to do a bit of a game.
- 31:39Speaker 7: I'd lock in the date and I'd say every day
- 31:41Speaker 7: I'm going to send you a clue as to where
- 31:43Speaker 7: we're meeting and you've got to try and work it out.
- 31:46Speaker 6: That was my way of keeping the conversation going. How
- 31:48Speaker 6: did that go for you?
- 31:49Speaker 3: I hate that.
- 31:50Speaker 6: What do you hate?
- 31:51Speaker 3: It's just like unnecessary and not exciting because then where
- 31:54Speaker 3: did you end up taking him?
- 31:55Speaker 6: The pub? I do remember one girl going, you did
- 31:57Speaker 6: this game all week and we're literally here at the
- 31:59Speaker 6: Dolphin or whatever it was.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you can only do that if you take him
- 32:03Speaker 3: somewhere remarkable.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Really fancy.
- 32:04Speaker 1: The final tip they gave was knock on the front
- 32:06Speaker 1: door and open a car door for her.
- 32:08Speaker 8: Right.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yeah, look, the knocking on the front door is quite confronting,
- 32:12Speaker 3: I think.
- 32:13Speaker 8: Is it?
- 32:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, look, maybe you're not ready and then
- 32:17Speaker 3: they come to the front door and you're still running
- 32:19Speaker 3: around and stuff like that.
- 32:20Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean, the opening the car door, I
- 32:22Speaker 1: think that's a nice touch. I think the other thing
- 32:24Speaker 1: is if you drop them home, wait for them to
- 32:25Speaker 1: get inside the door before you drive away.
- 32:27Speaker 7: Right, to make sure they're not abducted or whatever.
- 32:29Speaker 6: Can I talk about opening the door, actually?
- 32:31Speaker 7: Because I just don't do that to my girlfriend, and
- 32:34Speaker 7: I don't know if I'm meant to.
- 32:35Speaker 6: Am I meant to open the car door?
- 32:36Speaker 3: Cain does it for me, not every time, but he
- 32:38Speaker 3: does it quite often.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Oh, and you like that?
- 32:40Speaker 5: Sure.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I think it's nice.
- 32:41Speaker 12: Do you do it?
- 32:42Speaker 4: I find it cringe, sorry.
- 32:43Speaker 8: You're cringe.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Yeah, isn't it?
- 32:44Speaker 6: Two? Like you're a lady, but you can open your
- 32:47Speaker 6: own door.
- 32:47Speaker 1: No, but he'll just quickly walk around that side, open it,
- 32:50Speaker 1: and then go around the back and go to his
- 32:51Speaker 1: own side. He doesn't stand there and go, come in,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and then close it for me.
- 32:55Speaker 3: I don't mind that. Yeah, it's kind of like a subtle, like,
- 32:58Speaker 3: here you go, babe.
- 32:59Speaker 16: I think the whole, like, getting out, say, at the shops,
- 33:01Speaker 16: you're at the shops and you just get out and
- 33:02Speaker 16: you walk around and just open the door.
- 33:04Speaker 9: Open the door?
- 33:05Speaker 6: You don't need to do that.
- 33:06Speaker 11: No.
- 33:06Speaker 6: It's not 90-02.
- 33:06Speaker 3: No, I get out of the car myself. I'm not waiting.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Yeah, God, we have places to be, yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 6: All right, our quarter to eight the time right now.
- 33:14Speaker 6: What's coming up for us now?
- 33:16Speaker 1: Oh, I have the most search topics and questions of
- 33:18Speaker 1: the week. I've gone through your search history. I'm going
- 33:20Speaker 1: to bring it to you next. Yeah, what are some
- 33:25Speaker 1: of the questions that Aussies are asking the internet this week?
- 33:28Speaker 3: I'm going to break down some of the.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Biggest trends online right now, starting with the biggest news
- 33:34Speaker 1: around the world, I'd say Nepal.
- 33:36Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 1: The disastrous floods in Nepal and Tibet are at the
- 33:39Speaker 1: top of everyone's mind. And last we heard, several missing
- 33:43Speaker 1: Aussies were found, but there's still about 38 that are
- 33:46Speaker 1: unaccounted for.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Is that right, Sean Fraser?
- 33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right.
- 33:48Speaker 5: Yep.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So the death toll stands at 939 with a total
- 33:53Speaker 1: of 4,400 people missing.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Now, what's the latest on all that?
- 33:58Speaker 4: Well, latest at the moment, obviously, it's been more than
- 34:00Speaker 4: a week there in Nepal.
- 34:01Speaker 16: So they're asking, there's obviously 38 families from Australia that
- 34:05Speaker 16: are missing their loved ones. So they're asking that DNA
- 34:08Speaker 16: be sent over to the region because what they are finding,
- 34:13Speaker 16: the bodies.
- 34:14Speaker 4: And the people they're finding, completely unrecognisable.
- 34:17Speaker 16: So they're asking for DNA to be sent over and
- 34:20Speaker 16: it's being flown over there so that if they do
- 34:22Speaker 16: find Some remains that they might be able to- Identify
- 34:25Speaker 16: them quicker.
- 34:25Speaker 6: To match them, yeah. Get some closure, yeah. Horrible tragedy. Oh,
- 34:28Speaker 6: it's just awful.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Hey, everyone's also searching for the Ray Gunn doco.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Now, everyone's talking about her because there's this new Netflix
- 34:35Speaker 1: doco that dropped just on Monday called Untold Ray Gunn
- 34:39Speaker 1: Breaking Badly.
- 34:40Speaker 6: No, I saw it come up on my Netflix. I
- 34:42Speaker 6: was like, do I- I have no interest. I have
- 34:43Speaker 6: no interest. I don't either, eh?
- 34:44Speaker 1: So what it's going to do is take us behind
- 34:45Speaker 1: the scenes of her breakdancing journey and to the 2024
- 34:49Speaker 1: olympics and then the fallout that came afterwards obviously so
- 34:52Speaker 1: it's ray gunn's side of the story she's in this
- 34:54Speaker 1: documentary as she became a national embarrassment an international meme
- 34:58Speaker 1: and she opens up about the shame she brought on
- 35:00Speaker 1: the country she says i feel like i was falling
- 35:03Speaker 1: into a dark pit um but people are still divided
- 35:06Speaker 1: on this a lot of people jumped online after seeing
- 35:09Speaker 1: the doco saying things like she's clearly lacking in self-reflection
- 35:13Speaker 1: The delusion is great in this one and she's only
- 35:15Speaker 1: got herself to blame.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Oh, wow. Okay, so no one's really supporting her.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Even after seeing her side of the story, I.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Just think, oh.
- 35:22Speaker 3: I don't know. There's some arrogance about this woman that, like,
- 35:26Speaker 3: I remember when it first happened and, like, she almost
- 35:28Speaker 3: needed to just come out and say, look, I tried
- 35:31Speaker 3: and I failed. I'm not as good as I thought
- 35:32Speaker 3: I was.
- 35:32Speaker 6: But she thinks she's good, right?
- 35:34Speaker 3: Because she studied breaking.
- 35:35Speaker 6: I know.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Like a university degree in, like, the art of break
- 35:39Speaker 3: dancing or something. Is that even a real thing?
- 35:42Speaker 6: Well, you can do it.
- 35:42Speaker 7: Like, I knew someone who did a thesis in The
- 35:45Speaker 7: Simpsons and I was like, oh, I like that one.
- 35:47Speaker 8: Oh, get off it.
- 35:48Speaker 7: You can do anything at uni if you want to
- 35:49Speaker 7: spend 80K on some stupid master's.
- 35:52Speaker 16: I remember when it all first broke and the Olympics
- 35:54Speaker 16: thing happened.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I went on her Instagram and I went all the
- 35:57Speaker 4: way back.
- 35:58Speaker 16: And I remember seeing that she was doing breakdancing like
- 36:00Speaker 16: 10 years before she even went to the Olympics.
- 36:02Speaker 4: So she does obviously love it.
- 36:04Speaker 6: But it's nuts. She means it.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Because if you've been doing it for that long, how
- 36:08Speaker 1: do you still have no skill?
- 36:10Speaker 6: No, but to her, it is.
- 36:10Speaker 3: What a waste of life.
- 36:12Speaker 6: She thinks her.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Okay.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Well, to my eye, I haven't done a thesis in
- 36:16Speaker 1: break dancing, but I think a lot of people can
- 36:18Speaker 1: wholeheartedly agree with me with my eyes.
- 36:20Speaker 6: That's shit.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So that's where I stand with that one. The Dyson
- 36:25Speaker 1: AI toothbrush. Now people are desperate to learn more about
- 36:28Speaker 1: Dyson's latest product. I'm a huge fan of Dyson products,
- 36:31Speaker 1: by the way, I've got the Dyson vacuum. I'm wanting
- 36:34Speaker 1: the Dyson mop. I've got some Dyson hair tools. Like
- 36:37Speaker 1: they just know how to make products.
- 36:39Speaker 6: And if it's AI, does that mean it'll just brush
- 36:42Speaker 6: my teeth for me?
- 36:42Speaker 3: Well, it's called the Dyson camera. Not quite.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It's called the Dyson camera jet. It does use AI
- 36:48Speaker 1: and it's got a camera in the brush head. So
- 36:50Speaker 1: it tracks how you're cleaning your teeth.
- 36:51Speaker 3: It blasts water.
- 36:52Speaker 6: It flosses.
- 36:53Speaker 3: It rinses all at the same time.
- 36:55Speaker 1: It can provide guided brushing routines, flossing insights, personalized feedback.
- 36:59Speaker 1: The weirdest part, though, you can connect it to an
- 37:01Speaker 1: app via the Wi-Fi and you can actually watch a live.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Visual stream of the inside of your mouth while you brush.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Oh, no thanks.
- 37:08Speaker 3: I don't want to see that. And by the way,
- 37:10Speaker 3: this toothbrush costs you $ 800.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, no thanks. But maybe parents could use it
- 37:15Speaker 7: to make sure their kids are brushing their teeth properly.
- 37:18Speaker 6: Oh, we don't need.
- 37:18Speaker 3: To monitor everything they're doing. Their teeth will be fine.
- 37:22Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean, I'm sure it's a great product,
- 37:25Speaker 1: but how obsessed with oral hygiene are we?
- 37:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not that much.
- 37:28Speaker 3: I'm not there.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Flossing, yay or nay?
- 37:31Speaker 1: Oh, not as often as I should, but I do.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I do when I'm like, oh, it's been a while,
- 37:35Speaker 1: but it's not my daily routine.
- 37:36Speaker 6: I do it if I get a bit of meat
- 37:37Speaker 6: stuck in there. That's about it. You know what the
- 37:39Speaker 6: worst thing is?
- 37:40Speaker 1: When you don't have a toothpick or floss and there's
- 37:43Speaker 1: just something in your teeth.
- 37:44Speaker 6: Oh, I find I do the old corner of the paper.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that works.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Yeah, get that in there.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I get a piece of hair from my head.
- 37:50Speaker 6: Oh, that's like floss.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. Spring weather forecast. So as you would say, Mikey,
- 37:55Speaker 3: today is the 3rd of spring.
- 37:57Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:57Speaker 6: I only said it on the 1st of spring.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Yeah, you kept saying instead of the 1st of September,
- 38:01Speaker 1: you kept saying it's the 1st of spring. So if
- 38:04Speaker 1: you feel like it's getting warmer outside, you are correct.
- 38:07Speaker 1: The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed we're in for an
- 38:10Speaker 1: unusually warm spring this year.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Sick.
- 38:13Speaker 3: This week is especially warm. Sydney's above 20 degrees every
- 38:16Speaker 3: single day, expected to reach 29 this Saturday. That's going
- 38:20Speaker 3: to be the peak, so the beaches will be busy tomorrow.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Melbourne had its warmest first day of spring in five years,
- 38:25Speaker 1: hitting 22 degrees. And Brisbane this weekend is going to
- 38:29Speaker 1: hit 32 degrees.
- 38:31Speaker 3: That is at the start of spring. We're also being
- 38:33Speaker 3: warned to brace ourselves for a bad hay fever season,
- 38:36Speaker 3: by the way, with above average pollen levels expected.
- 38:38Speaker 7: Well, that aside, how good's global warming? I mean, if
- 38:41Speaker 7: this is the fallout of it, let's keep polluting.
- 38:45Speaker 3: That's the message we're sending.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Nothing like a nice, warm start to spring.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Also, kind of on that, when is daylight savings? It's
- 38:51Speaker 1: nearly that time. People are starting to look it up.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Daylight saving.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Yeah, no, people call it daylight savings.
- 38:57Speaker 3: On my sheet it says savings.
- 38:59Speaker 6: Well, who wrote the sheet?
- 39:00Speaker 3: Not sure.
- 39:00Speaker 6: I did. It's daylight saving. Did you know that?
- 39:03Speaker 3: Let's fact check while I give you the answer.
- 39:06Speaker 1: While I give you the answer, which is Sunday, October 4. Now,
- 39:10Speaker 1: if you're looking that up, you might also find yourself
- 39:12Speaker 1: in a bit of a rabbit hole over what's going
- 39:14Speaker 1: on in the US.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Have you heard about that, Mikey?
- 39:17Speaker 6: No, what?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Trump is pushing ahead with a plan to make daylight
- 39:20Speaker 1: savings permanent.
- 39:21Speaker 7: Yeah, because it's all different states, all different.
- 39:25Speaker 6: It's all confusing.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I mean, it's a little confusing here because is it
- 39:28Speaker 3: only Queensland that doesn't do it?
- 39:30Speaker 6: And, ooh, WA. Do you not do it in WA
- 39:33Speaker 6: as well?
- 39:34Speaker 3: Our Perth listeners might be able to tell us.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Call up 131065 if you're listening in Perth. Definitely no,
- 39:41Speaker 7: Queensland don't.
- 39:42Speaker 6: They hold out, right?
- 39:42Speaker 4: Chelsea, you know the answer?
- 39:43Speaker 3: Queensland, WA and the Northern Territory.
- 39:45Speaker 6: They don't do it. They don't believe in it.
- 39:47Speaker 1: And it's something to do with their farming and agriculture
- 39:50Speaker 1: because the cows get confused at feeding time.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know.
- 39:54Speaker 6: I heard it fades the curtains if you turn the
- 39:57Speaker 6: time back. What? Yeah, that was one thing people were saying.
- 40:00Speaker 7: People are against daylight saving, and that was one of
- 40:03Speaker 7: their things.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Fading the curtains, bad for your health. Did we find out,
- 40:08Speaker 6: by the way? Can we confirm? Look, I think you're
- 40:11Speaker 6: technically right, but Seven News used daylight savings. Elle Australia
- 40:15Speaker 6: used daylight savings. Don't trust Channel 7. Daylight saving.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I'm going to continue to say savings just to go
- 40:21Speaker 1: against the grain.
- 40:22Speaker 6: I'm going to do it more to spite you, Mikey. Well,
- 40:24Speaker 6: I'll keep saying the 1st of spring then.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Happy 3rd of spring today.
- 40:27Speaker 1: As long as that makes you happy because saying daylight
- 40:29Speaker 1: savings makes me happy.
- 40:30Speaker 11: Saving.
- 40:31Speaker 16: I worked with a journalist once, a newsreader, and they
- 40:33Speaker 16: said it's not a bloody bank account.
- 40:35Speaker 4: It's not savings.
- 40:36Speaker 6: It's saving. Oh, did you get told off?
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, we're saving the daylight. I get it. I get it.
- 40:40Speaker 1: But everyone, like when people just say the same thing,
- 40:43Speaker 1: like I like to go with that and I think
- 40:45Speaker 1: everyone says daylight savings.
- 40:46Speaker 6: They do, but they're wrong. It's savings.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Have you ever watched the news and like they say
- 40:49Speaker 1: harassment instead of harassment?
- 40:51Speaker 8: Yeah, that's weird.
- 40:51Speaker 3: And you're just like, why are you saying it like that?
- 40:53Speaker 3: I know it's not that. Yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Like a harassment lawsuit. Harassment. It's harassment.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Well, in your new news reading job, get harassment right.
- 41:02Speaker 11: I will not.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Oh, well, I'm going to have to start saying harassment. Finally,
- 41:05Speaker 3: I did just want to touch on one more.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Millennial club trend is something that's going online, and that's
- 41:11Speaker 1: because it's picking up steam on TikTok and Instagram.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Basically, millennials aged.
- 41:15Speaker 1: which are aged like 30 to mid-40s, are sharing stories
- 41:18Speaker 1: of how we used to party and go out in
- 41:20Speaker 1: our younger years and the Gen Zs are shocked because
- 41:23Speaker 1: everything for them is so curated. So one millennial influencer
- 41:26Speaker 1: went through a couple of examples.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Take a listen.
- 41:29Speaker 17: These are things that us millennials would do on a
- 41:31Speaker 17: night out that the youth simply would not believe.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Pre-drinking, we were like aiming.
- 41:35Speaker 17: To get as close to blackout as possible before we
- 41:38Speaker 17: even left the house. And that in itself would be
- 41:40Speaker 17: like a five-hour event. And whatever was left, we would
- 41:43Speaker 17: just pour it into the big bottle on the train
- 41:47Speaker 17: or the bus. Whatever we were doing, we'd just take
- 41:48Speaker 17: turns chugging it. We'd be waiting in line, sort of
- 41:51Speaker 17: tottering to get into the club wearing heels. Now the
- 41:54Speaker 17: heels that we were wearing were diabolically high. We had
- 41:58Speaker 17: absolutely no business wearing heels that high. Even with a 0%
- 42:02Speaker 17: blood alcohol level, we looked like baby gazelles learning how
- 42:05Speaker 17: to walk as we tottered around.
- 42:07Speaker 6: Yeah, is that true? Gen Z's don't wear heels today.
- 42:10Speaker 1: No, they wear like sneakers out. But other people are
- 42:12Speaker 1: throwing some examples out there as well. Remember we used
- 42:14Speaker 1: to upload an entire Facebook album with hundreds.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Of photos after every night out?
- 42:18Speaker 6: From your digital camera.
- 42:19Speaker 1: There was always the one person with the digital camera.
- 42:21Speaker 1: The walk of shame with our heels in hand. And
- 42:23Speaker 1: also the lining up for taxis before Ubers were a thing.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Remember the taxi ranks and you just have to stand there.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Waiting for one to want to take you home.
- 42:32Speaker 6: And I'd tell him where I want to go and
- 42:34Speaker 6: he'd go, no, and drive off.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I always got that too because I lived far from
- 42:37Speaker 1: the city.
- 42:37Speaker 6: I didn't want to go.
- 42:38Speaker 3: So if I was in the city.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Those were the days. I miss it though.
- 42:41Speaker 6: I loved clubbing. Also.
- 42:43Speaker 3: They don't club anymore.
- 42:44Speaker 6: No.
- 42:45Speaker 7: And you could still chain smoke inside. I remember going home.
- 42:48Speaker 6: I'm not that old.
- 42:49Speaker 11: Oh.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Holes in your shirt is what I meant. You remember that, Sean? Yeah,
- 42:53Speaker 6: holes in your cigarette. Remember indoor smoking?
- 42:55Speaker 16: When I was 18, I think they'd just gotten rid
- 42:58Speaker 16: of the smoking indoors.
- 42:59Speaker 3: No, he's not that old either.
- 43:01Speaker 6: Just me. You know what? To be fair, it was
- 43:02Speaker 6: only a year.
- 43:03Speaker 7: And I remember, actually, when they first brought it in,
- 43:06Speaker 7: it was like half the club you could smoke in.
- 43:08Speaker 6: That's right. It's like I just wafted over to the
- 43:10Speaker 6: other half.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you would have reeked. Even if you weren't a smoker,
- 43:13Speaker 3: you would have reeked.
- 43:14Speaker 6: And you did get, like, you'd have holes. Holes in
- 43:17Speaker 6: your cigarette, yeah. Holes in your shirt, mate.
- 43:19Speaker 3: All right, we're doing a Remember Me this morning.
- 43:21Speaker 1: So basically how this works is the producers have organised
- 43:24Speaker 1: a guest for us.
- 43:25Speaker 3: They're on Zoom right now. They're about to join us.
- 43:27Speaker 3: But there's one catch. For right now, we don't know
- 43:30Speaker 3: who it is. Not even the gender, you're using non-binary
- 43:33Speaker 3: terms here.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Yes, because we have to ask a series of questions
- 43:36Speaker 1: to try and determine who this person is.
- 43:38Speaker 3: All we know is that we do.
- 43:39Speaker 6: Know who they are. It'd be embarrassing if we don't.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Yes, and it always gets awkward because sometimes you get
- 43:45Speaker 1: them really quickly, other times it doesn't matter how big
- 43:48Speaker 1: they are, you just can't land on the person. So
- 43:50Speaker 1: I am a little bit nervous, but let's start by
- 43:53Speaker 1: saying hello, mystery guest, and we'll hear if this is
- 43:55Speaker 1: a male or a woman.
- 43:57Speaker 9: Hello.
- 43:57Speaker 8: Hello.
- 43:57Speaker 5: Hello.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Oh, I said dude, but just to check. Wait, can
- 44:01Speaker 3: you confirm that you're a male?
- 44:02Speaker 8: Yes, I can.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Okay.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Oh, that's a nice voice.
- 44:05Speaker 7: Now, would we know you from like a movie, a
- 44:08Speaker 7: TV show or?
- 44:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 44:10Speaker 4: Not music.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Oh, he's not giving us much. Wait, wait, movie or
- 44:13Speaker 1: TV show. So would we know you from a TV show?
- 44:16Speaker 9: Yes.
- 44:17Speaker 6: We're not getting much here. He's going to be a
- 44:19Speaker 6: good one. He's just doing yes. Okay. What. Oh, and
- 44:23Speaker 6: he laughs. What era? Like when would we recognize your TV?
- 44:29Speaker 3: Oh, the biggest thing you're known for. What era was that?
- 44:32Speaker 9: I'm going to say in Australia, early aughts.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Okay.
- 44:37Speaker 6: The early noughties.
- 44:38Speaker 3: And were you like a heartthrob in this TV show?
- 44:44Speaker 6: I was. So he's a hottie.
- 44:46Speaker 1: And were you, okay, was this a long-running TV show
- 44:51Speaker 1: or did it only have like one or two seasons?
- 44:53Speaker 8: Longer than one or two. Burned bright.
- 44:56Speaker 7: Did you so have like a famous theme song or
- 44:59Speaker 7: something like that?
- 44:59Speaker 6: Oh, that's a good one.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Yeah, because like Friends and all that. Oh, okay. Can
- 45:02Speaker 3: we ask what the theme song?
- 45:04Speaker 6: Wait, okay.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Were there other people from this TV show who went
- 45:08Speaker 1: on to have like careers beyond their roles that they
- 45:11Speaker 1: had on that show?
- 45:12Speaker 8: Yes. Yes.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 45:15Speaker 6: This is really hard. And was it a funny show
- 45:17Speaker 6: or was it, like, quite serious? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 9: It had humour and drama. You know, I think we
- 45:21Speaker 9: often got classified as a teen soap opera.
- 45:24Speaker 6: Uh-huh, teen.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Okay.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Teen early noughties.
- 45:27Speaker 3: I think I'm getting it here from the voice. The
- 45:29Speaker 3: more he talks, the more I could be wrong, though.
- 45:32Speaker 6: Do we want one more question, then?
- 45:33Speaker 3: Can you ask a question, because I'm fresh out, of
- 45:36Speaker 3: one that will get a long answer, please?
- 45:37Speaker 7: Are you over 40 and how did you celebrate your
- 45:40Speaker 7: birthday if you are?
- 45:41Speaker 6: What did you do for it?
- 45:42Speaker 8: I am over 40.
- 45:43Speaker 9: My last birthday, I can't remember, which shows you how
- 45:47Speaker 9: past 40 I am.
- 45:49Speaker 8: I went to dinner with my wife. And my kids
- 45:51Speaker 8: probably gave me a card.
- 45:53Speaker 6: Married kids over 40, bigger than the noughties.
- 45:55Speaker 3: I'm going to take a stab in the dark here
- 45:56Speaker 3: because I think I'm right.
- 45:57Speaker 1: The reason that this came to me is because A,
- 46:00Speaker 1: huge fan, but also B, rewatched it recently.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Is it Ryan from the OC?
- 46:06Speaker 8: Yes, it is.
- 46:07Speaker 6: I knew that voice.
- 46:08Speaker 8: Ben McKenzie.
- 46:09Speaker 6: Oh, hello, Ben McKenzie. Oh, hi, Ben.
- 46:11Speaker 11: Hello.
- 46:12Speaker 6: Extra.
- 46:14Speaker 9: Extra points would have been given if you'd gotten my
- 46:16Speaker 9: actual name, but that's okay.
- 46:18Speaker 8: You've got my character name. That's important.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Okay.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Ryan Atwood. No, full character name. I was a huge
- 46:23Speaker 1: fan of the OC.
- 46:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 6: Now we've got to remember the theme. Do you hate
- 46:29Speaker 6: hearing that?
- 46:31Speaker 8: Good song, no. I mean, you could do a lot worse. Okay.
- 46:34Speaker 3: What is it, Phantom Planet?
- 46:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 46:37Speaker 3: How good is that? This takes me back.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I honestly, Ben, every couple of years, if not once
- 46:43Speaker 1: a year, will watch the OC from start to finish.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Like for me, it's like my ultimate TV show. Huge
- 46:49Speaker 3: in my world.
- 46:51Speaker 9: I now have kids come up to me, like kids, teenagers,
- 46:54Speaker 9: and they talk about how what a fan they are
- 46:56Speaker 9: of the show.
- 46:57Speaker 8: You know, you weren't even alive when it came out.
- 46:59Speaker 8: They watch it with their parents.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, well, they remade a couple of the
- 47:03Speaker 1: older shows because they redid Beverly Hills 90210.
- 47:06Speaker 3: They've redone Gossip Girl.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Has there ever been talks, do you know, of redoing
- 47:10Speaker 1: the OC? And wouldn't it be cool if you went
- 47:11Speaker 1: back and you were one of the, like you were
- 47:13Speaker 1: like Sandy, you were one of the dads?
- 47:15Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don't know that there's ever
- 47:18Speaker 8: been serious talks, but I'd be up for it, sure.
- 47:19Speaker 6: You'd do it?
- 47:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I think so, under the right circumstances. It was
- 47:23Speaker 8: a great show. We had a great time. I learned
- 47:24Speaker 8: a lot. I was so young. We were all so young.
- 47:26Speaker 7: Do your kids watch it? How young are your kids?
- 47:30Speaker 7: Have you shown them?
- 47:31Speaker 9: They're too young to watch it, and yet I showed
- 47:34Speaker 9: my middle child, who's 10, the series. And I forgot
- 47:39Speaker 9: that in the pilot episode, the first episode, there is
- 47:42Speaker 9: binge drinking... cigarette smoking cocaine and a threesome in the.
- 47:47Speaker 8: Pilot alone yes and of course my 10 year old
- 47:50Speaker 8: loved it and wanted to watch more show.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Me more dad yeah how did you handle though so
- 47:56Speaker 1: much fame so young because you were in your early
- 47:59Speaker 1: 20s though weren't you.
- 48:00Speaker 9: Yeah i had graduated from university i was the oldest
- 48:02Speaker 9: of the cast members but i was still yeah i
- 48:04Speaker 9: was early 20s i had no experience that was my
- 48:06Speaker 9: first thing uh effectively and uh I handled it, I don't.
- 48:11Speaker 8: Know, well enough.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 7: I mean, being early 20s would be better than what
- 48:16Speaker 7: we hear with a lot of teen stars where fame.
- 48:18Speaker 8: Screws them up, right?
- 48:19Speaker 9: It's hard, especially I think being a child actor, which
- 48:23Speaker 9: I was not, is a particularly difficult thing.
- 48:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 3: I mean, and as well, you just said you'd already
- 48:29Speaker 3: graduated from uni, so you'd kind of studied something. Your
- 48:32Speaker 3: whole life wasn't wrapped up in acting. And what did
- 48:36Speaker 3: you study?
- 48:36Speaker 4: Economics.
- 48:36Speaker 8: Economics.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Which would make sense with your current project.
- 48:39Speaker 6: Yeah, well, which is what we're looking at here. So
- 48:42Speaker 6: you've deep dived into crypto, which a lot of people
- 48:45Speaker 6: hear this word, they don't even actually know what crypto is.
- 48:47Speaker 6: Is that what you're working on now?
- 48:50Speaker 9: During the pandemic, I was really bored and a buddy
- 48:52Speaker 9: of mine came to me and he said I should
- 48:54Speaker 9: buy crypto. All the celebrities were selling it.
- 48:56Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 48:56Speaker 9: And my friend has given me terrible financial advice before.
- 48:59Speaker 9: Like a lot of us have this friend.
- 49:00Speaker 8: My friend, Dave.
- 49:02Speaker 9: literally has cost me money in the past. And I said, Dave,
- 49:04Speaker 9: I'm not going to buy this stuff.
- 49:06Speaker 8: What is it? And he couldn't, he couldn't explain it.
- 49:08Speaker 8: I went down a rabbit hole.
- 49:09Speaker 9: I ended up writing a book that was a New
- 49:11Speaker 9: York Times bestseller about my journey into it. But I
- 49:15Speaker 9: also turned a camera on, I made a movie out
- 49:17Speaker 9: of it called Everyone is Lying to You for Money.
- 49:18Speaker 8: And it's a how stupid the whole thing is.
- 49:21Speaker 9: I ended up interviewing Sam Bankman Freed, that guy that's
- 49:26Speaker 9: now in prison. You probably have seen his picture. The
- 49:29Speaker 9: curly haired kid who was a billionaire for a half
- 49:33Speaker 9: second and now is doing 25 years in a federal prison.
- 49:35Speaker 6: He ripped off a whole bunch of people, didn't he?
- 49:38Speaker 8: A whole bunch of people, yeah. And I interviewed him
- 49:39Speaker 8: before it all went sideways.
- 49:44Speaker 9: So it's a comedy documentary film with me and my wife,
- 49:48Speaker 9: Marina Baccarin, who you might also recognize from television and film.
- 49:52Speaker 9: And yeah, I'm really proud of it. And you can
- 49:55Speaker 9: watch it in Australia. The movie's about money and lying.
- 49:57Speaker 9: I know about money because of economics. I know about
- 49:59Speaker 9: lying because I'm an actor and I do it for
- 50:01Speaker 9: a living. I'm a professional BS-er. We do lie for
- 50:06Speaker 9: a living. We're also students of human behavior. And what
- 50:09Speaker 9: I saw with guys like Sam Begman-Fried and others is
- 50:12Speaker 9: Just lying.
- 50:13Speaker 8: I wanted to have fun with it.
- 50:14Speaker 9: I wanted to make a movie that people, that it
- 50:16Speaker 9: would entertain people and not be sort of like a
- 50:19Speaker 9: boring lecture about crypto.
- 50:21Speaker 8: And I think I've done that. The critics are loving it.
- 50:24Speaker 9: And honestly, a lot of people in Australia are watching it,
- 50:27Speaker 9: which is phenomenal.
- 50:28Speaker 7: Well, if you want to find out more about the film,
- 50:30Speaker 7: Everyone is Lying to You for Money, head to everyoneislying.com.
- 50:35Speaker 6: Hey, Ben, in a nutshell, crypto, bullshit or not? Like,
- 50:39Speaker 6: should we bother?
- 50:40Speaker 8: Bullshit. Simple advice that your parents probably give you.
- 50:44Speaker 9: Don't invest in something you don't understand.
- 50:46Speaker 8: If you don't actually understand what it is, Don't put
- 50:49Speaker 8: your money in. Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 6: Everyone is lying to you for money. Go and check
- 50:52Speaker 6: it out. There we go. Ben McKenzie.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Ben McKenzie, I want to see an OC reboot and
- 50:56Speaker 1: I want you as the lead.
- 50:58Speaker 3: I just need more OC.
- 50:59Speaker 5: Let's make it happen.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Yes, let's make it happen. Thank you so much for
- 51:01Speaker 3: joining us this morning.
- 51:02Speaker 8: Thanks, guys.
- 51:03Speaker 7: Oh, I regret putting that $ 50, 000 into crypto now.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Oh, see, I've just never bothered understanding it, which is
- 51:10Speaker 3: why I haven't put money into it. Same as the stocks.
- 51:12Speaker 3: I don't understand that.
- 51:13Speaker 6: Stocks I get, which can also be a gamble, but
- 51:16Speaker 6: I still don't actually know What is crypto?
- 51:20Speaker 3: Nor do I.
- 51:21Speaker 6: Do you get it, Sean? Do you know what it is?
- 51:23Speaker 4: Not really. I know a lot of people that do it.
- 51:27Speaker 4: It's never tickled my fancy.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Even beyond that, NFTs.
- 51:32Speaker 6: Oh, was that the digital drawings? No, what were they?
- 51:35Speaker 6: Is that what it is?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Yeah, they're like digital images.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Something, yeah.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 51:39Speaker 6: But people were making money off that stuff.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but these are the things you've got to be
- 51:43Speaker 1: ahead of the game. So if you bought crypto early,
- 51:46Speaker 1: for example, like I know someone who cashed it out
- 51:49Speaker 1: and got a decent chunk at its peak because they
- 51:51Speaker 1: bought it for nothing. But now I'm not sure that
- 51:55Speaker 1: unless you really know what you're doing and you make
- 51:57Speaker 1: it your full-time job, same as the stocks, you need
- 51:59Speaker 1: to know and watch it daily.
- 52:01Speaker 11: Yes.
- 52:02Speaker 6: Yeah. Stocks make more sense. Like all our super is
- 52:05Speaker 6: in stocks. Right? But they know what they're doing.
- 52:07Speaker 4: They're kind of gambling with it, right?
- 52:09Speaker 6: It is gambling.
- 52:09Speaker 3: And what happens if they lose it? We lose our super.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 52:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:12Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 52:12Speaker 6: Yeah, and it happens. But then it can recover.
- 52:15Speaker 3: I didn't approve of that, did I? When I gave
- 52:17Speaker 3: my money to them?
- 52:18Speaker 6: I think you want your super in stocks because it
- 52:20Speaker 6: can make a return of like 6% to 9%.
- 52:22Speaker 3: So, wait, my money can go up?
- 52:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:24Speaker 6: It can also go down.
- 52:25Speaker 3: But who's making the decisions on behalf of my money?
- 52:27Speaker 7: So, to be a super company, whatever company you're with
- 52:30Speaker 7: and they employ a whole bunch of that decide what
- 52:33Speaker 7: they're going to invest their money in for Super.
- 52:35Speaker 3: God, I may as well give people cash to play
- 52:37Speaker 3: the pokies.
- 52:38Speaker 6: Well, I know you are fond of the pokies.
- 52:41Speaker 16: You do all right on them too, I've seen.
- 52:43Speaker 6: Yeah. What's your latest win on the pokies?
- 52:45Speaker 1: I haven't won in a little while, but Kane on
- 52:47Speaker 1: the weekend won like $ 1, 900.
- 52:49Speaker 5: Really?
- 52:51Speaker 7: Forget Super, invest in pokies.
- 52:53Speaker 4: That's it, everyone.
- 52:54Speaker 3: The gamble responsibly.
