- 0:16SPEAKER_02: I just thought we're still friends.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Go.
- 0:21SPEAKER_03: It wasn't in question this year.
- 0:24SPEAKER_03: But there have been times when it's been in question.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: I also didn't troll you horribly after we won.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: So ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the bike blitz.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Mike Wade, my co-host Southside Richmond over there, Mike White.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Victory uh Wednesday for you, sir.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: How are you doing, man?
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: I'm good, man.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: It's uh it's been a short week, obviously coming coming off of a great weekend.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: Got to see a lot of my old um best buddies from UT.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: Uh enjoyed a wonderful game, went to one of the best, greatest, craziest haunted houses in the United States, and uh we got Bama coming up.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: So uh things are good.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Things good, good, good.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: I was in Charleston, South Carolina.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: I was at a uh fundraiser for a bunch of guys in my hometown, uh Drew Wynn Foundation.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Shout out to those boys.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: Uh I watched the first half of that game at a barbecue joint.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Food was great, the game was terrible, and I immediately left.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: And then I watched the rest of it on DVR later.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: I don't think I missed much, but we'll get more into that.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: Uh uh, we'll get more into that uh later.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Uh what are you drinking tonight?
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: I'm drinking a dogfish head 90-minute imperial IPA.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Ooh, not the 60, not the one thing.
- 1:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, felt felt like fall, you know.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: I wanted something a little different.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Haven't had a dogfish head in a long time, and uh pretty good.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: It's a lot drinking out of one of your favorites, the old long neck.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: I do love a good long neck.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Um, what's the what's the octane on that thing?
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: It's it's a little higher, isn't it?
- 1:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, nine.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Nine, okay.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: It's a little beefier.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: It's a little beefier.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: I can I can when it gets double digits for a beer, it's it's it's it's a different category for me, almost in a lot of respects.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: So I'm glad to hear that.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: I am drinking some high quality H2O.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, tell me about that.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: I got a sore throat.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: I'm in like deal, my kids gave me a cold from I mean, who knows?
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: They're all back, they're back in school now.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: It's not COVID.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: That's the good news.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: We tested for that.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Um, but it's I got a cold from them.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Never from about you, but ever I drink alcohol when I'm like just a little sick.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: It doesn't taste good.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Like it just there's not, it messes with everything.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: So I don't know.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Hydrate to be great.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna have some beers this weekend for LSC Florida.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: So this is my pregame drink for Yeah, get your body right.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: You know, you gotta dress for success, so to speak.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: All right, let's hit the news.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, so this is the first week since like week one.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: We don't have a head coach fired per se.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: But I do think it's worth mentioning that Matt Rule was just fired uh from uh the Carolina Panthers.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Uh Matt Rule, the previous coach at Temple and Baylor, was awesome in the college ranks.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: All thought he was gonna ascend to uh NFL.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: He really burned out there in just miserable fashion.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Coming back to coming back to college, you got to think he's if any job that's available this year, and it seems like there's gonna be some pretty good, pretty good ones, he's top everyone's list, right?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think so.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: Uh he'd be a natural candidate for anybody, and I'm sure um, you know, a top college program would be an easy landing spot for him after what he did a few years ago.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: He does have a$40 million O2 by the Carolina Panthers.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Maybe he'll just like surf for a while.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know, or like take up, I don't know, take up origami or something.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: That's a lot of money to not work.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: He can do whatever he wants.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: He might go back to um coach for the uh Nick Saban school for wayward coaches and just be an analyst for like 40 grand a year.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Do that, and then he'll he'll land at Auburn, probably in Fari or something like that, or whatever.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Some FGC job will would love to have him back.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Uh the Ruckers, Rutgers University did fire their offensive coordinator, also not a head coach, but notable.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I'm a little sad.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, honestly, like Brian Harson survived again.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Let's just start there.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: We'll start like we've literally started, although we've we have a new number one, we'll start from the top again.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Georgia uh crackback game against Auburn.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: I thought Auburn was gonna find a way to keep it close.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: They did not.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Brian Harson still has a job.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know what's going on there.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's one they expected to lose.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: And you know, they're probably getting their ducks in the row behind the scenes, so no need to pull the trigger on a knee-jerk, Georgia beatdown.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: It seems like at this point, it's just like when it does happen, and it's like it's just gonna happen.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Like we're all we're gonna see it on Twitter.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be the bottom, it's gonna be on the little your bottom ticker on ESPN.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, Harson's finally, oh, okay, he he finally got fired.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: You know, it's like it's like something it's not a if, it's a when.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like a house plant that's like pretty much dead.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: You know it's gonna dead, it's not gonna make it with you to the next home.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: It's just kind of waiting around.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: It's uh okay, it died.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: All right, we're good.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's the Christmas tree in the living room in February.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: It's it's time, it's time to put him out the pasture.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: So uh uh kudos to Georgia.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, obviously, they look kind of they look kind of kind of non-Georgia-esque.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: They didn't say bab, not Georgia-esque for a couple weeks.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: So um a game to get their get their get their mind right, get their get their act right against Auburn, who's a longtime rival.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: Uh, kudos to them.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Uh you know, uh they're they are they are now turning their turning their blinders to uh their their their eyes to uh to Tennessee here in a second, which all of a sudden is gonna be a monster showdown.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: The game of the week, I think, um, outside of LSU uh Tennessee, which we're gonna talk about last.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Uh talking about uh Texas AM Alabama.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Bama was a 24-point favorite.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Uh Bryce Young went down, landed on his shoulder, spraying shoulder, he went out.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Uh the backup, I can uh Milo, his name Jalen Mill, Jalen Milrow, excuse me, uh did not look good.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Was a wild game, came down to an incomplete pass in the end zone, four-point loss.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: I was watching this game at a bar of Charleston.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: I was like, there's is this really gonna happen?
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that would have saved Annem's season, probably.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: Um, and the line, the line is is interesting because everybody kind of thought um Bryce Young was gonna play, and then he didn't.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: And um Milro looked pretty pedestrian.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: He made some plays, but he, you know, he's a freshman.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: Um well he's not is he a freshman?
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: Uh anyway.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: He's not Bryce Young, I know that.
- 6:12SPEAKER_03: He hasn't played, yeah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_03: He just hasn't doesn't have the experience, he's got the talent, he's more of a runner, he's kind of an Anthony Richardson type right now, with less experience and less um less less talent, probably.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: But um, yeah, uh Bama continues to make mistakes and kind of shoot themselves in the foot, turn the ball over, kept AM around.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: And uh if AM had had any sort of coaching competency, they probably would have won that game.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm I don't think it's that hot to take.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: I don't think Alabama's a top three team without Bryce Young.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Um, frankly.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: I don't think, I mean, I would put Georgia, Ohio State, and now Clemson ahead of them if Alabama doesn't have uh Bryce Young.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: They just looked pedestrian.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: But tech saying that's not that hot of a take.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: You lose your husband trophy winner, no team is really going to be who they are.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I know, but Bama's had quarterbacks at the Wazoo.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: This they've just been on a five-year stretch of Mac Jones, Jalen Hurts, and uh Tua.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: So like I almost, I mean, honestly, I don't know anything about this backup, but he's the backup quarterback at Alabama.
- 7:10SPEAKER_03: He hasn't played.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, of course.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying, but he's the backup quarterback at Alabama.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: He got there because he's awesome at something.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: I just assume without even without even seeing it, he's without ever seeing him take a single snap of the football, I just assume he's pretty darn good.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: And I've not seen that in the Arkansas game or the NANM game.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: So I think at this point, right now, without them, it's it's not a hot take.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: It's a warm take.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: It's a warm take, maybe.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Well, I think I I heard some some some things saying that um with him in there still, I think, uh three or four-point favorite or something like that against Tennessee on the road top 10 team with with Bryce Young, it's more like a 10 to 12 point.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: And Vegas is kind of splitting the difference, is what I've heard.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Um, is that happening?
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: Take that what you will, but that says a lot about their team that they can lose a Heisman trophy winning quarterback, go on the road against the top 10 team and still be you know favored by the I don't think I knew that.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: I assumed I think I assumed the seven and a half was uh brought in for Bryce Young to play.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: So maybe what do I know?
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: No, they don't know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: They don't know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: All right, well we'll we'll we will find out here very, very soon.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: Uh Jimbo Fisher, the$86 million buyout ban, another loss.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Three and three.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: Man, they cannot be happy in Com Station.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Yowsers.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Um this was a kind of a moral victory for them, though.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: It almost was.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: So I was oh, here's a question for you.
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: I wrote this down actually.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: So for you, given given you're gonna face them next week, were you thinking that, oh man, watching Bama lose would be great, the melt, the TV would be fun, awesome.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: Or were you like, man, it'd be nice to not have to play a pissed-off Alabama who just lost at home?
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: No, I always want Bama to lose.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: I always want Bama to lose.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: There was easy.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Always, always, always.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Do you put any stock into the uh the the angry, you know, the the the the coming off a bad loss, just unleash on the next opponent.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: Do you put any any any stock in that theory?
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: I think especially with a team as talented as Bama, it there there are always times when you can get guys' attention, you know, and and if they're not playing that well, for them, um I think a lot of factors played into that and a lot of there's been a lot of knee-jerk reactions.
- 9:14SPEAKER_03: They still have an outstanding defense.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, you they've made some uncharacteristic um turnovers and some errors that they probably wouldn't normally make.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Um they've looked vulnerable, but when you look at them, you're comparing them against Bama of Bama past.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: Who else can I compare them to?
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: It's true.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: You would compare them against teams who are playing right now, who are normal teams, who have flaws.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, you're comparing them against Georgia, you're comparing them against Michigan, who hasn't played anybody.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is what we should be doing, not comparing them against you know, the 2019 Bama team.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: I don't hate that take because there were times last year where they looked bad.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: They should have lost to Florida, they should have lost, they almost lost to LSU, who was truly pitiful.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: We were a touchdown throw into the end zone last year.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Bama had the last two years.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, 2020 was that magical season, the COVID year with Mac Jones.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: It broke all the records.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: 2021 and halfway through 2022.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: This team has looked uh has looked woozy in these middle, in these middle of the game, uh, mid-season games against competition that is good, but maybe not up to their level.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Obviously, in the end of the last year, didn't really matter.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: They went to the national championship and they were fourth, they were a better fourth quarter away from from winning it all again.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: But I, you know, I wonder how many close calls Nick Saban can survive, especially when the top half or the top third of the SEC seems to get a little tighter with Ole Miss and Tennessee um inserting themselves, as I think, especially Tennessee, and I think Ole Miss as well, we'll find out for sure in a couple weeks, as real forces.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know that it's you know, we I think you are both ready to crown them as the East and West champions in August, but I'm not I'm not I'm I'm certainly not there anymore.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean things look vastly different right now, for sure.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Very cool, very cool.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: But they still have all the talent in the world.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: So they can flip the switch at any time.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: That's the thing, is they are capable of just turning it on and you know being the being the being the the Imperial uh March force that we all that we all know and love.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: All right, let's keep it in one.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: Uh Red River, Red River, Red River Rivalry, a Texas, what's it called?
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: Shootout.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: Sorry, Red Shoot, yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Red River shootout.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Uh Texas, Oklahoma, another outstanding college football rivalry.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Texas beat the absolute breaks off Oklahoma, 49 to nothing.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: Texas, here's okay, new hot take.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: New hot take.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Texas with Quinn Eures is the best, is is not only that, is the best team in the Big 12.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: Is that a hot take?
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: I don't hate that.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: I I think uh, I mean, you think about the when they played Bama.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: We were already talking way too much about Bama this podcast, but but yeah, you look back at their season and and you plug in yours, it it he doesn't get hurt.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: I mean, who knows where they are right now?
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: They probably don't lose to Texas Tech, and they're probably gonna they're probably not gonna lose another game this year anyway.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're five well their schedule is tough.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: They play they they played everybody with a pulse in the in the Big 12.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: So, like, you know, this take of mine is really hot.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: But here's a funny scenario for you.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: If they go 10 and 2, and we're with well, let's say Quinn Ewers comes back and just rips apart the Big 12, which in the Big 12 overall is a pretty top to bottom, pretty quality.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's covered.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: It's been pretty, pretty there's no competitive across the board.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: There's no awful Kansas.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: There's a Colorado and there's other, you know, there's a there's a Missouri, but there's no awful Kansas out there.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: So every game's a game.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: My point is blah blah blah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: If they go 10 and 2 and they rip off everything with Quinn Ewers, are are they are they are they are they are they talking about the first two lost playoff team?
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: I kind of think, I mean, depending on how things play out, obviously that a lot of chaos would have to happen to put them in that situation.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: But I do kind of think you have to look at it the same way that the uh the NCAA selection committee in March Madness looks at things, and you know, they do give you a break if they know that your best player was out.
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: They do give you a break if you know they know that you know things are happening off the court.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, you have your quad four, your quad one, your quad two.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: Um the losses aren't all equal.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: And that's that's that should be what it's like in college football.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, a loss isn't always just a loss.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: No, I agree.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: Um I I think I would I would like part of me would actually love to see it just to kind of see see the chaos, see what happens.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: And you know, Texas Quentin Earl is really he's fun, he's a fun kid to watch play.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: I watched a little bit of that uh Texas game, uh Texas game on D VR, and he is good.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's gonna be, you know, he's I don't think he's gonna make it, I don't think he's gonna I don't think he has a bunch of chance to make it to New York this year, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's the 1A Heisman candidate going into 2023.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: But we'll see.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Long way laugh football we see there.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Fun fact Oklahoma is the only FBS team that did not score a point on Saturday.
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: Dagger.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: And it was in their biggest rivalry game.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: And their biggest rivalry.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: That's tough.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: That's tough.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Uh let's talk about Oklahoma really quickly.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, Brett Vulnerables is the nickname I saw on Twitter a bunch.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Pretty fun.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: I still think he's a great coach.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: He's got he's got his word cut out for him.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: The defense is really troubling.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Dylan Gabriel's not the solution.
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: Somebody else will come in.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: They've got they've got recruits.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Uh it's just that he's gonna need time.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: He's not, you know, we all thought Brent Vulnerables was gonna wasn't gonna pick up the D, and we thought that Lincoln probably maybe left them in a better situation, but with the with the transfer exodus, Oklahoma is is a rebuild.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think the biggest thing, I mean, Oklahoma had 39 passing yards in this game, 39.
- 15:05SPEAKER_03: That's not a typo.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Gabriel was out after getting concussed last week, so they didn't have much of an answer there.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: They're they're kind of thin.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: Um, remember their whole roster went to USC.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, remember that?
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: Does everyone remember that?
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: I know everyone who's undefeated, by the way.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know everyone said, like, oh, okay, Oklahoma, they're just gonna pick up where they left off.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: But you know, just keep that in mind.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Um, they they've been woeful against the run this year.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Uh, and like we talked about last pod, um, Texas put up 296 on the ground, and Bijan Robinson is a stud.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: So yeah, uh, this is not a surprising loss.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: I think the margin is a little surprising, but I wouldn't have been surprised for Oklahoma to drop this game by like 21 or something like that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I took I took uh Texas uh minus seven.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I'm feeling pretty good about that.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: I didn't know it was gonna take a minus 48 and a half, but you know, what are you gonna do?
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: Worked out worked out well in my favor.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: Uh good stuff.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: All right, let's keep it, let's keep it rolling.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: We'll go we'll ask more about Texas and Oklahoma.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: JMU, James Madison University, the best football team, the best football team in the state of Virginia, um, uh ranked in number 25 for the first time.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: They made the jump from FCS or 1AA to 1A this year.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: They have been absolutely murdering people, um, with exception with the exception of App State, which is a 28-point comeback, very impressive in its own right.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: Um, this is just wild.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: Um, two questions for you, Mike.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: One, so the so there's a rule that uh they can't go to a bowl this year because it's their first year of FPS what the purpose is for this rule.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: So dumb you're I mean that they are starving for winning teams.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: They can't they're if you know they're trying to make they're trying to fill these bowl games.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Why would you not take them?
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: Question number one if they're 13 and 0, are they in the playoff?
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: Um, no.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: Because it's because they would be too crowded up there?
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: They could be they could be Cincinnati part two?
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: No, they're because no, no.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: They uh okay, listen.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: This is a great story.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: I love JMU.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: It's fantastic to hear that they're ranked.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: It's a great, feel-good story, but there's no way in hell they belong in the college football playoff.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Full stop.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: Even if they go undefeated.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Their best two games, I think, are Louisville, who's like three and three, and Coastal, who's undefeated.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: That's gonna make that's gonna make for I think it's like the last second of life.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: Let me ask you this.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Please.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Let me flip it back to you.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: They're ranked 25th this week.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: Teams just outside of the rankings.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: Tell me who JMU can beat in this in this list.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: I'll just give you a couple.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: North Carolina, Baylor, BYU, Notre Dame, Florida, Tulane, Purdue, Florida State, LSU.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: I off at first glance.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: JMU beating any of those teams.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: At first glance, might want to say Tulane or Florida.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: The rest of them, I would, I would probably, I'd probably, I'd probably fade them.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, I you're you know I mean you're I mean you're making it.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: We'll see what they do against Louisville, which is an ACC team, and we'll see what they do against uh uh coastal, who is very good.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Coastal, you know, but like I you're not yeah, you're you're you're not I I pick what you're putting down.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna throw it back at you.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Can you name a single player on the JMU?
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: Not me neither, not a single one.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: I'll beat you to it.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: Negative.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Not that's why it's a good story.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Nobody, I mean, across the country, nobody can.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, nope.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: That's that's no knock on them.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: It's just that's the state of the program right now.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: They're the new guy on the block, they're doing great, they're doing what they're what they're supposed to be doing, but you gotta, you know, you gotta do more, you gotta earn it a little bit longer.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Who knows?
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Maybe Homer time, maybe maybe this podcast 2023, we're gonna have a JMU section.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: We already have a UVA and tech section.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: Also, you said something about they play Louisville, they'll earn, they'll they'll we'll see how they do against Louisville.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Come on, man.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Louis Louisville's three and three, they're in the bottom of the ACC Atlantic.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: Yes, but it's but it is an away game.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty sure.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty sure that game is in uh Louisville, and they're playing uh they're playing coastal.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: George, I mean the Sunbelt is a pretty decent conference.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I mean, I guess I know it's not a resume.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: And to be fair, Cincinnati beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame, who was a few who finished the season as number five or number six in the country.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: So Cincinnati, in addition to winning the AAC, which is a better conference, going undefeated, they also had Notre Dame.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: So no, it's not the same.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: But the Sun Belt is a great story this year.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: And it's the fun belt.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: They've injected a lot of fun belt into college football.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: They have.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: And the thing is, when the playoff expands in 2025, whatever 12 teams, they are gonna be then we're talking.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: And that's good fun.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: Then we're gonna have to.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: Then they'll get blown out by Michigan in in week one.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: And I can't wait to see it.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: I cannot wait to watch it.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Go Dukes, go Duke Dogs.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Uh, good stuff.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Speaking of uh uh new box news shows in town, interim coaches absolutely balling.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Since we saw this uh this early exodus of coaches, Georgia Tech 2-0, Nebraska, 2-0, Wisconsin, one and oh, Arizona State, one and two, but that upset was against UW, Washington.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: They beat a ranked team, good for them.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: Colorado, 0-0.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: They were on a bye, so they haven't lost either.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: Good for you, Colorado Buffs.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Good for you, Colorado buffs.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: So my all of these interim coaches are an impressive, what's that?
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: Uh like eight and two, which is wild.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't know if that's just like pressure from the new guy going.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Obviously, some favorable scheduling, but I'm just saying, all of these teams, all these fans who won Ding Dong the Witch is dead, too, they're getting some wins.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: So yeah, that's a that's a big win for the fans.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: You you love to see that because you know, if someone's not performing, you want to see him gone, and but you don't want to write off the rest of your season.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: So you've got an interim guy in there.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: Uh, the players are playing with house money.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: As fans, you're you're getting kind of the best of all worlds.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you wait, you wait nine nine months for this.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: You you're you you're we're still playing.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: We're we're not gonna get away.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you know what you know the other thing about this is this is kind of an underrated, uh, maybe it's kind of a conspiracy theory of mine.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: I think it makes these jobs more appealing.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Like when you see like a Georgia Tech, which is like a really talentless roster, turn around and get two wins.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Like if they can string together, I'm like, imagine if like Georgia Tech could like somehow make its way to six and get to a bowl or something.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, like the next level doesn't hurt at all.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: So, you know, and Nebraska, which I mean, Nebraska is so high profile, we know all about them, not gonna talk about them anymore.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: But to see that roster, that turnaround, say, we're still fighting, frost is gone, he's a disaster, but you know, we're still fighting, we're still getting wins.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: I think that I think Husker Nation, that's a big sale for them for the next one.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: Well, and you see so so often that in college football, you know, there's so much that's asked of these head coaches, you know, to maintain the culture of the program.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: Um, it's just a different different animal than the NFL.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: Uh, they're in charge of everything, everything they've got to recruit constantly.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: And so often you see situations where it's just a lack of buy-in, it's a lack of of consistency, culture, habits, and all it takes is a different guy to step in, and you know, the roster may be pretty good, and you get some buy-in from the guys, you know, you you you have a rallying cry and you go on a run.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: I really like what you said about just kind of playing fast and loose because the reality is like at that point, expectations are shot.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: The coach is like nobody expecting you to win.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: So when you're doing that, no one's playing scared.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: You know, no one's no one's worried about making a play.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: It's easy for stuff to get toxic when you're losing and you're there's a lot expected of you.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: Uh, I know Scott Frost was doing a lot of weird things himself, or at least it's what we've heard, allegedly.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Legendary.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: So we'll go for it.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Speaking of Scott Frost, have you seen the souls on Twitter this week?
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: The curse of Scott Frost?
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: No.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: So listen to this.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: Sounds like a spooky Halloween story.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: The ghost of Scott Frost.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: Northwestern, Georgia, Southern, Oklahoma all beat uh Nebraska.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: After they beat Nebraska, those three teams are combined one and eleven.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Oof.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Not good.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: So obviously taking beat Nebraska takes it out of you.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: I mean, I mean, I must say, like, Nebraska's just bad, and they lost the bad teams who lost a lot afterwards.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: I like the curse of Scott Frost better.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: That's way more fun.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: But uh that sounds like a boxcar children's uh it's it's a good one.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Choose your own adventure story, you know.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, where you read a book for only 17 pages.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: I was a big fan of those when I was a kid.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Uh very cool.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Uh Kansas TCU.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Um, man, uh that's I think it's Barnburner.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: Barnburner game day was there, I'm pretty sure.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Um nobody going to 2022 thought that was gonna be a game worth watching.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Um, Sonny Dykes, uh, you know, it's crazy.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: This is this has been such a good year for uh crazy good coaching stories, Josh Heppel being one of them.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: Sonny Dykes in his first year at TCU has got TCU playing at such a high level.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: Uh Lance Leopold on the other side, the Kansas coach, also turned that disaster around.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: On any other given year, I think Josh Heipel would be a shoe for coach of the year, but there's like seven viable candidates right now.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and and TCU, I mean, he picked up a good program.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: I mean, they're they're they were kind of running.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: Patterson had him had him going for a long time.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: Um Patterson's the awesome coach.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: Lance Lifold has, I mean, that's the biggest turnaround.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, in in the history of college football, maybe.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: I mean, if they can if they can continue on this track and and finish where we think that they might finish.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Um you're talking about a program who's averaged like 1.5 win over the span of like eight, nine years.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: They're an afterthought.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: They're a complete afterthought at the university.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: And let and Les Miles, former LSU coach, made it worse.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: He went there and somehow turned that program even worse.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, I mean, I mean, Atlanta Lampold has been and honestly, I just want to talk about that game really quickly.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: Um, just a wild game, great game.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, really impressed with um Kansas and TCU.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Uh, quick stat line, uh, TCU Quentin Johnson, that receiver, massive.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: 14 catches, 206 yards, and touchdown.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Um, they threw a lot of offense to him.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: He's fun to watch.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: He's a guy who's gonna play on Sundays.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: On the other side, Jason Bean, the quarterback, came in for um Jalen Daniels, who went down with an injury, who apparently may or may not be hurt according to Twitter.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: We will find out.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: Mike posted on that.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Um, they didn't miss a beat.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: He came, he came out and scored three or four touchdowns.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: Bean played really well.
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: Played really well for a team that has just relied on on Jalen Daniels to do everything.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, you couldn't have asked for for much more out of your backup.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: No, absolutely not.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: What that tells me is I think Kansas is running something schematically, the T scheme.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Because TCU is a good defense, and they scored 31 points on that defense.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: I was kind of expecting TCU to shut it down, especially when I heard when I saw the ticker that Jalen Daniels went out, and they just kept rolling.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: So I'm looking at Kansas as a well-run, well-coached awesome offense that's gonna give they're gonna win a bunch more games.
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: Um, and I hope I mean it's clearly not because they have the talent, because they haven't recruited for years.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: They have a talent on the sidelines, not on the in the head coach, other than, but you know, we will see.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: Um, so guru is to that.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Um, I want they're they're playing Oklahoma this week, who's an absolute spiral right now.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: So I will but we'll touch back on that a little bit later.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Um, Notre Dame solidified, bounced back after a rough start, got a solid win um against the Mormons, uh, BYU.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Uh they're gonna be fine.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: That is a solid win.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: It's a solid win.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: BYU's a good team.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: I don't have much else to say here other than Notre Dame is not the dumpster fire that we talked, we kind of joked about in week two.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: Um they're gonna win seven or eight more games, six or seven more games.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but they're not a top five team.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: No, they're not top five team.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: Not a playoff team, and maybe mainly, and mainly because their offense is still so bad, but they are they're gonna be fine.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: They're gonna win a bunch.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: And they're gonna have some fun games coming to the end of the year.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: I think they get USC at home this year.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: That's a big one.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: That'll be a big one.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: Uh uh, other teams that are are winning, uh uh doing what uh UCLA.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: UCLA is legit.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: Um I guess.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: I guess I guess I I said prove it, and they did, I guess.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: I mean they won.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, I didn't pick them to win, and they they proved me wrong.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: Um I think Utah, well, I don't want to.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: I think Utah's still a really good team.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: Um, UCLA is just firing all cylinders.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: I mean, they've got a three-headed monster that's just clicking on offense big time.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: So, one thing I will say about Utah, I'm agree with you.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: I I just think they're a good team, top to bottom.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: They, the two or two losses, uh Anthony Richard and DTR, they struggle with mobile quarterbacks.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: And I wonder if that was a big part of uh the offensive success that they had.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: Um, and obviously the next week it's USC and Caleb Williams, he can move too.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: So we'll talk about that game a little bit, but I wonder about that.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: Uh other teams that are kind of quietly putting together great seasons, which all of a sudden which are gonna thrust us to talk about them a whole lot more.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Thrust.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Miss Thrusts.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Mississippi State uh is a very quiet five and one, K-State five-and one, Syracuse five-no, Illinois five and one.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: I didn't think we're gonna be talking about any of these teams in the matter that we are at this point.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: Uh, there's a lot of teams.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Syracuse is undefeated.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Syracuse undefeated, that's right.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Uh 5-0, excuse me.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Illinois 5-1, K-State 5-1, and Mississippi State at the LSU game, which is now looking speaking of kind of weird wins, I'm not really sure why we have to do that.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: I'm looking at our schedule, I don't know how many more we're gonna get.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: And I actually think Mississippi State's pretty darn good.
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna lose to Alabama and they might win the rest of their games.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, I, you know, including we'll talk about Mississippi State, Kentucky in a little bit.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: Um, Mississippi State's good.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: Will Rogers is leading the nation with like 2,000 PRs.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: I think they will too.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: Um, spoiler alert for later in the show.
- 28:45SPEAKER_02: Spoiler alert.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: Damn it, didn't they do again?
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: Uh blah blah blah.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: Really quick, speaking of Mississippi State.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Uh man, they put it on Arkansas.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Six and six Pittmans.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Here it comes.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Uh Whoopig.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Uh, I'm, you know, they came out guns blazing.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: We all thought Pittman was the second Jesus.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I'm not so sure.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: Well, here's the thing they're without their quarterback.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: So they are who we thought they were without KJ Jefferson.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: I mean, we said that he they they're not gonna win the amount of games that we thought they would win, especially with their schedule without their star quarterback.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: It's you know, sometimes it's pretty simple.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and he is back this week.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: So, and that and that so they're they're we'll see, we'll see how they how they look the rest of the season moving forward.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: Um, other only note I have kind of on takes uh Michigan kind of play with their food for a while.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: They had that really scary incident with Mike Hart on the sideline.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Those of you who don't know, Mike Hart, running back's coach in Michigan, former uh Michigan running back.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: He had a seizure, I believe, in the first quarter, like early first quarter, the whole game was delayed.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: It was pretty pretty terrifying for a while.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: Um, they took him to local hospital, he was okay.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: Um, and uh, you know, I've some folks and some beaut writers I saw on Twitter were saying that was kind of set their set a weird tone for Michigan football game, which is really understandable.
- 30:01SPEAKER_02: Um, they kind of told they kind of play with Indiana for a while, second half pulled away.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: Um, I guess Michigan's good, um, despite what we've seen the last we're like halfway through the season, and their best win is a messy win against Maryland.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, a a feisty, very punchy Maryland, uh Talian Sonvailo's player.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: They have probably the worst resume of any team in the top off the top of my head, eight, probably.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: No, and then and they're number five.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna say, you know, my only my last note here is in Tennessee should probably be five.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: Uh Michigan should probably be six or seven.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know, you know, but I mean, like this is the most like this is the most who cares take of all time because both Michigan and Tennessee have monster games this week.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: And so we'll find it'll play itself out and down the road, not only this week, down the road.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: Not only this week, down the road.
- 30:49SPEAKER_02: I was like, 'cause I was I was coming up with before the show, like an argument for each team.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: I was like, who cares?
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Literally, who cares?
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: We're gonna find out in four days.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Michigan, yeah.
- 30:59SPEAKER_03: This is why preseason rankings happen, is because you put a Michigan up there and they play nobody six weeks into the season.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, they are where anyone would expect them to be, having not lost and being ranked super high.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: For what it's worth, I thought Tennessee was number five.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: I just want you to know that as your buddy.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: I just want you to know that I thought Tennessee was in the top five.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: Just to say that.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: You're sucking up to me after last weekend.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: I appreciate it.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: I'm just, you know, I'm I'm happy.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: It's been a long time coming.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: It's been a long time coming for the Vols.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: I'm not here.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: I'm riding, I'm I'm riding this rocket to the moon with you.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: Um, uh, let's let's talk about some homers.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Um, UVA, uh, ugly loss, 34-17, Louisville started the game 10 to nothing, 10 to nothing, a couple turnovers, and it just uh fast start went to hell.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: Uh Brent Armstrong plays really hot and cold, like within not just like certain games, like certain drives.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: Like within quarters, he'll go really hot, really cold.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: Um run game was terrible.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: This team just looks broken.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: Um uh and it takes UVA and six yards of rushing.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: I don't care how good Brandon Armstrong is, I don't care what quarterback you roll out there, especially if your scheme is not like an air raid attack, you need balance.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: You've got to be able to run the ball.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: Conversely, Louisville put up almost 500 yards on offense.
- 32:18SPEAKER_03: So we're talking about huge deficiencies on both sides of the ball.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Probably, I mean, we're I don't I'm I'm not super well versed in the intricacies of UVA's personnel, but to me, that screams problems in the trenches.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and the offensive line was a you know the offensive line, they had a couple guys that actually uh transferred one to Michigan, I think, someone somewhere else, other uh P5 school.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Um, and there was a bunch of G5 and Ivy League transfers.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: Like they were the the I to the the the offensive line is very, very patchwork and yeah has continued to plague him.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: But Louisville's bad.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: They didn't even have Malik Cunningham and it just it didn't matter.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Um this is that's the biggest, that's the biggest, biggest like yeah, eye-opening sort of head scratching.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Louisville is not a super talented team.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: Malik Cunningham is a showstopper and he can do great things, but he didn't play, and it didn't matter.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: Um that means no excuses.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: No excuses.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: Um for that.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: They're all they're off this week, thank God.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: They get Georgia Tech on a Thursday, who's not a good team, despite the last two wins they've just gotten.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: Um my question, but they're they're playing together and they're they're they're actually they're playing playing pretty well.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: That's my can that's my question.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, you're right, Georgia Tech or UVA?
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: Georgia Tech.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: Georgia Tech is my question for UVA is I mean, can they do that?
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: Can they fight through this?
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: Because right now they've they've seen a bunch of bad losses.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: They're only well this is the perfect time for a buy because this is where you take a few days, you get back to fundamentals, you re-coach some things, you know, you focus on some deficiencies, and you know, you have a full week to focus on yourself.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: Try to get these guys pulling in the right direction.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: I hope you're right.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: I really do.
- 34:04SPEAKER_02: They're they're looking down a bunch of ACC games that I don't know how many are winnable.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: I think this Georgia Tech game is winnable.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: It's winnable for sure.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: It's I just I what I what I what I'm hoping to see is I guess it's a week from tomorrow.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, eight days from now is how much they can fight and how much they can.
- 34:19SPEAKER_03: I think you I think you can tell a lot about a coach on how their team comes out and plays after a bye, especially in the situation UVA's in.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: Um this is not a situation where they need to draw up a bunch of new plays.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: I mean, he just needs, you know, he needs his guys playing hard and and all pulling together and playing for each other.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: And a bye week is a good time to kind of regroup after a bunch of losses.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: And so, you know, it that first quarter against Georgia Tech is gonna tell us a lot about what's going on inside that locker room.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: If they come out prepared and fired up and ready to play, yep.
- 34:55SPEAKER_03: Um that'll bode well for them, I think.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm hoping I'm I'm I'm optimistic for the Wahoos.
- 35:03SPEAKER_02: Um, they still have those weapons, they still have those guys.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Um, the other side, uh, down in Blacksburg, another blowout, uh three straight, ugly losses.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: This one was Pitt.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think it was 45-27 or 49-27 was the final score.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: Um, quick shout out to Pitt, running back, Israel Ibanaconda.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: The stat line 36 carries, 320 yards, six touchdowns.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he ran for almost nine yards of carry.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: He's he's a beast.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: He's a he's an NFL player.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he sure is.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: Um, you just hate to yeah, as a hooky fan, you hate to see that um happen to your team, but you know, um, that's just that was just tough.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Um, um notes from this game.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, for me, it was kind of like last week.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Like, what are the silver linings from this game?
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: I thought Grant Wells played better.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: He uh one of the better games he had.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: They ran for over 100 yards.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: He played better.
- 35:55SPEAKER_03: They still have to throw the ball almost 50 times.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: Yep, yep.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: He didn't, he he he was better, it was one of his better games.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: Um, I mentioned this guy last week, uh, Daquan Wright, their true freshman tight end.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: He is a stud.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: He's a four-star.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: He can play, he's gonna be on the field a lot for the next three years, two years at least.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Um, he's a kind of guy that hopefully tech recognizes and they feed him a lot.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: So there are pieces, there are things.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: My point, I'm trying to give hookie fans things to kind of grab onto.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: Um, because there's not a lot the moment for either team.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: They do play each other, so someone's gonna win that game.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, here's the other thing, too, is that um Pitt has a pretty good defense, especially in the trenches.
- 36:37SPEAKER_03: Their front seven is really good, and Virginia Tech moved moved the ball pretty well.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: Uh, you would have liked to see a little bit more um success on the ground, but that's pretty hard to come by.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: That's kind of like Pitt's MO is stop the run.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: Uh Grant Wells played better.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: He was efficient, he didn't turn the ball over much.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: I think he had one interception.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think that's right.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Um, so yeah, I mean that's progress.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 37:03SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: All right, very cool.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: Last game we're gonna review.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: Let's go ahead and do it, get this over with.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: Uh, Tennessee comes to Baton Rouge on noon and just puts the smack down on my tiger.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: I think the final score was 40 to 13.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: Um, I have some takes.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: I know you do too.
- 37:19SPEAKER_02: You want to go first?
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: You want me to?
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, you go ahead.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: Um, sure.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, Tennessee is a very good football team.
- 37:25SPEAKER_02: They are this is the best football team that I've seen put eyes on Tennessee since uh 1998.
- 37:30SPEAKER_02: I even saw some folks on Old Row selling feels like 98 t-shirts, which feels like a huge change.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: So I wouldn't.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: And they sell those every year for like the last 20 years.
- 37:38SPEAKER_03: I really recommend just to be clear.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: I would recommend against that.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: I, you know, being the uh being the Tennessee fan by association, um, this is the best team that I have seen up close Tennessee in a long time.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: Really, what what being what Hucker and those guys are doing on offense, those guys are studs.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: I was impressed with defense.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: Defense, I thought our defense would challenge you more.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: Um, I'll let you talk more about Tennessee on the LSU side.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Um, our special teams are disaster.
- 38:01SPEAKER_02: We gave away 10 points immediately.
- 38:03SPEAKER_02: Coaching decisions were really questionable.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Uh, the three fourth down calls, uh, especially the one at the end of the end of half.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Um can I say something to you about the coaching decisions?
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: Because this is something that I have seen all year long and even in the last year.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: So I want to get your take on it.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: The way that Tennessee plays offense gets into the head of the opposing coach and forces them to kind of make some dumb decisions.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, what do you think on that?
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: You think Brian Kelly does that against 90% of the opponents?
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: I don't well, I don't well, I mean, I think it's true to an extent.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's true against teams where Tennessee is gonna have to go toe-to-toe with like Alabama and Georgia.
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: Teams that are worse than Tennessee and they know they're worse and they know they're going to need some breaks, they're gonna have to play the game to win.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I equate that kind of to like I you equate the worst team playing on the road, tying up the game with a touchdown with 19 seconds and going for two, because they're like, we're not gonna survive another quarter of this, so let's take our shot to win now.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: I I mean it's not the same, obviously, but I think Brian Kelly was saying to him the first fourth down call, I don't really hate deep in Tennessee's red zone.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: I think it was like fourth and two.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Um, I think that play call was actually pretty decent as well, which is parable blocking.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Um they they they thought that they had they needed seven.
- 39:20SPEAKER_02: They were down 10-0 at that point, and they felt like they needed a touchdown.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: So I don't hate it in that situation, but no, to yours to your point, I absolutely think opponents who know and think they might be dogs, and the fact that we're also losing it at all through the fourth down calls, we were we had already losing.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: We gave you 10 points this moment the game started.
- 39:39SPEAKER_02: We started playing desperate right away.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: So I see I do think there is some truth to that when you play a high power offense where you're afraid of trying to catch up with.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I say that just to to give Brian Kelly, I think, a little pass because I I know he's taking a lot of heat, and I've seen that from opposing coaches quite a bit against against us.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: So yeah, that's why I bring it up.
- 40:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do, but I but I but I I mean I'd I don't think Saban or Smart would have I think they would have taken the three down 10.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, I mean, those are two of the best teams in the country.
- 40:10SPEAKER_03: It's a totally different ball game, yeah.
- 40:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: Um what else about them?
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: Um Jaden Daniels is is what he is.
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: Um, he's not the answer long term, but he I I really think given of the inconsistency of our offensive line, he's gonna do what you did.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: He threw for actually 300 yards, 300 some yards, 108 in the first half.
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: He did okay.
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: Um how much let me ask, let me ask you this.
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: Sorry to interrupt.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: No, how much how much of what how much of their lack of downfield passing is scheme, and how much is Jaden Daniels?
- 40:41SPEAKER_03: Because that was gonna be the emphasis coming into this game.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: And I know that there were some times I think they were trying to take shots and maybe he didn't have time because you know we had some injuries on the O-line.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, how much, how much of that is scheme?
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: How much of it is the O-line?
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: How much of it is Jaden Daniels?
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think it's O-line uh inability to pass block really well.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: It's but on the left side, it's we're we're missing.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: We we lost our left set our left tackle the night before the game.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: Uh Will Gamble that hurt.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: And Garrett Dellinger, who's been a who's been awesome as a sophomore, he's young.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: He went out with a knee, uh, MCL sprain.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: He'll be back in two weeks, which is good news, not in a season ending.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Um, but the offensive line's been inconsistent all year.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: And so I think I think I I think Jaden Daniels is a big problem limitation, but I think Denbrook, the offensive coordinator for LSU, is calling the game to say, you're you're gonna have to you probably have to scramble, and we cannot, we can't do play action, five-step drops, slow developing, you know, mesh routes like a playing at Wakeforce or anything.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: So I think it's scheme in the respect that we're not calling those plays, but I think we're not calling those plays because we don't have the personnel, the blocking, or the quarterback to do that.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: You know, Joe Burrow could hit you for a 40-yard pass in a second and a half.
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: Jaden Daniels, you better be 50 miles wide open or he's not gonna throw it.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: That's fair enough.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: That's that's I know the O-line had had their problems.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: I think that was evident in the run game.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Um, I thought we'd run the ball better.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did too.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: And I I mean every week, you know, people keep saying, you know, Tennessee's defense is suspect, and every week they're the they at least continue to be strong against the run and hanging their hat on on some defensive pressures.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Um secondary still has a lot to be desired, obviously, but um they played really, really well against the run again.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: They have about 55 yards, a huge disparity in the rushing yardage.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: Uh Tennessee went for 263.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: Um, so yeah, I mean, this game didn't go as I expected.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: I expected it to be quite frankly, I expected it to be a kind of a comfortable win, but I think LSU shot themselves in the foot quite a bit, and everything went Tennessee's way.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I told you this on when we originally talked on Sunday or Monday.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think if we I think if LSU brings their I think if this version of LSU brings their A game, those special teams mistakes aren't there, there's they make the right decisions, we still probably lose by 10 points.
- 43:02SPEAKER_02: Um, I mean, I was I was really I thought LS I thought Tennessee's rush defense was better than I thought it was.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: Uh the past defense, I mean, obviously we're not the team to punish you with it, but I could see what you're talking about.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: I could see where that's a vulnerability to keep an eye on going, but like I was your rush defense, Tennessee's rush defense was much better than um they did really.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, they came to play.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: They came to play in all three assets, all three facets of the ball, and giving up 300 yards to Jane Daniels didn't matter at all.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: So I mean, well some of those stats don't matter that much, quite frankly.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: I mean, we were ahead by three scores when Jamie Daniels put up 150 yards or so on through the air.
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: Um, conversely, or on the other side of that, we ate up eight minutes of clock in the fourth quarter and ran the ball, I think like 13 of 14 plays.
- 43:51SPEAKER_03: Um and that's not what Tennessee does.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: That's a that's a game-killing end this game drive.
- 43:59SPEAKER_03: You know, that's not our offense.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: That's not put up points.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: That is an ice the game drive.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: Um and so, you know, it was nice to see that because that was an area we struggled with, uh, trying to put the game away against Florida.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I mean I would argue Tennessee LSU's probably probably quit at that point, but they did they they did it, but can I get credit to Tennessee that they did exactly what they're supposed to do, which is we're up by the fourth quarter, they're up by what was that?
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Uh you're up by 30 30 points at that point.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: Just finish the game.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: You know, get it, you know, do what you do what you have to do, get out of there without as many injuries, kill the clock.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: And um, Tennessee executed that to perfection.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: Fourth quarter, I didn't even watch it live.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Because I turned it off at halftime.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: I was so I was so despondent about my tigers.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: But sorry, buddy.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: Hey, dude, it is all right.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: This is I am still very optimistic about these Tigers.
- 44:50SPEAKER_02: I still love what they're doing.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: Our recruiting has been.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: Brian Kelly, I think, is a good hire.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: You're always going to recruit well.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Recruit really well.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'll say this right now.
- 44:59SPEAKER_02: LSU is playing a lot of games that we really want to win because we always really want to beat these FCC West and Florida opponents.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: All that really matters in 2022 for this team is to get to a bowl, which is two more wins.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: Obviously, we're going to beat UAB.
- 45:14SPEAKER_02: We'll probably pick up one or two other because all we really need, all this team really needs is that next month, that bowl team practice to stay, to stay training, stay coaching, get those guys to still uh develop this, uh, develop the rapport with their receivers, understand the scheme.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: That's what all that matters for this team at this point.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: I don't care what bowl we're playing, who we're playing it, or where it is.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: It really doesn't matter any of those things to me anymore, especially in light of the playoff, which is where we are now of all eyes on the playoff.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, that's what I hate.
- 45:44SPEAKER_03: That's that's that sentence right there, exactly what I hate about.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: I hate it too, but I but this is just how I feel.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, literally, I'm thinking about right now, I'm like, we're just you know, I want to keep I want to keep the recruiting going well.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: I'd like to continue because every the thing is LSU has looked better every week of the seasons from Florida State up until the Tennessee game where the wheels came off the bus.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: But we had looked better, substantial improvement at just about every unit.
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: So if we can just keep doing that, pick up a win or two, finish, let's say my our ceiling is nine and three, every win every game except Bama, probably closer to seven, five, eight and four.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: Great, let's go.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: Let's, you know, we'll we'll get another class.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: This defense is gonna be nasty in a year.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: I expect the offensive line to get better.
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: Walker Howard, the five-star true freshman, um, pro-style quarterback coming is here on campus registering right now.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm still very super optimistic for the future.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: But for now, go volse.
- 46:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for now, Tennessee is light years ahead of where we thought they'd be.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: And let's keep rolling.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: Uh, good stuff.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Should we switch to anything else you want to say about uh this week or move to next week?
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's keep rolling.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: We're we're we're we're creeping along over here.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: We're creeping along.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you all for if you're still listening for entertaining our uh Tennessee LSU.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: We will have hours more of that offline in the next several months between him and I.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna have to do that anymore on here.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Uh let's start with um let's start with a big game.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: Let's start with Bama at UT.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: Uh Bama UT plus seven, plus seven and a half, depending on where you look.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: Games at 330 on CBS.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: This is the third Saturday in October, T SIO.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Famous, famous rivalry for these two teams.
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: This is the best Tennessee team in ages.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: Just give me your thoughts, man.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: How are you feeling?
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: Let's let's hear it.
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: Well, my first my first personal thought is we're playing with house money.
- 47:28SPEAKER_03: It feels awesome.
- 47:29SPEAKER_03: There's no pressure.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: Um I know from hearing all the coaches talk, hearing every interview, every ounce of content I can consume about this game and previous games.
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: Um, this staff and this these players are just a different bunch.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: Hypo has them believing, they're preparing, they're not worried, they're not approaching this game differently, they don't get too high, they don't get too low.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: Um, I love the approach.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: Uh I am personally just trying to enjoy the ride as best I can.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: Um, I also think that we are being massively, massively, massively written off and disrespected because of the way that the last several years have gone within this program, which have zero bearing on the here and now.
- 48:23SPEAKER_02: Um if you take the Alabama name off that helmet and it's just nameless team, nameless, no, nameless coach, nameless players, I think you're probably right.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: I think you're probably I think Vegas is probably giving them two, three, and them pundits and all the talking heads, the same situation because it's just been, you know, this game has not been maybe 2016, uh, the Mount Cody block.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: There haven't been that many competitive masters, but you're right.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: None of that matters.
- 48:47SPEAKER_02: That's what those none of those teams are playing in four days in Neyland, which is gonna be the most electric it's been since since when?
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: I don't even know when the last game this big was in Ayland.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Um, the last game that was this big in Nealand was Florida a few weeks ago.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: And the last one before that, we were probably there.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: It was probably Oklahoma in when was that 2016?
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: The Baker Mayfield game.
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Um, and before that, I mean 2015-16, before that, maybe 2000.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: So it's been a while.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: This is and this is and this is the and this is the first one where in a while that it's been Bama, you know, and Bama and Tennessee have been, I mean, this game is going to be hyper competitive, I certainly believe.
- 49:29SPEAKER_02: Um, for me, the question from the outside looking in, I think Bama probably has the better roster.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: Nick Saban's probably the greatest coach of all time.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: We know all those things.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: For me, it comes down to what I've seen on the football these last six weeks at Alabama and whether they have Bryce Young or not.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: Um, Bryce Young is a damn good passer.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: And Alabama, even though they don't have Jamison Williams and they don't have the proven superstar receivers they've had a couple of years, I know they have dudes, I know they have guys, and they're just waiting for a coming out party.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: I really hope it's not against Tennessee Vols and that week's secondary.
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: Um, but it could be.
- 50:01SPEAKER_02: But if he's not playing and it's that true freshman, I'm ready.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: I'm ready to see Tennessee.
- 50:06SPEAKER_02: Tennessee, I'm ready to bet a lot of money on Tennessee.
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: If it's Milro, I'm all in.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: We're gonna win this game.
- 50:11SPEAKER_03: If it's Bryce Young, we still have a shot to win this game.
- 50:14SPEAKER_03: That's the thing.
- 50:15SPEAKER_03: Uh, this offense and what Hypel's doing, this is not a gimmick.
- 50:19SPEAKER_03: This is not this is not happenstance.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: Every single week he draws up plays where guys are running wide open for 50, 60, 70 yard bombs, two, three, four times a game.
- 50:31SPEAKER_03: This is not like a coincidence, and we're doing it without our best wide receiver.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is just insane what he's doing in year two.
- 50:38SPEAKER_03: And you're you're getting him and the lineman back this week, is my understanding, right?
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: Mincy, um, which we were short on uh against LSU, uh, should be back on the O line.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 50:48SPEAKER_03: Um, but Tillman is still questionable.
- 50:51SPEAKER_03: There was a report out of Knoxville um quoting unknown sources that he was not gonna play.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: Um, so take that as you will.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: But he got he got the tie rope surgery with the Bama game circled to try to make it back four um after the Akron injury.
- 51:09SPEAKER_03: So that's been you know three plus weeks.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Um, I I mean the offense has not skipped a beat without him.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: Um, but obviously you want your number one NFL wide receiver in there.
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that helps.
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: I like this game from a from the matchup for Tennessee of even let's assume Bryce Young is there because that's that's I'm let's just let's play let's play it that way.
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: Um, but on the other side of the ball, which I with which I think is more which I think is gonna be more interesting anyway.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm obviously Alabama is known for their pass rush, their front several.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: Will Anderson is probably the best player in college football.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, probably number one pick next year.
- 51:43SPEAKER_02: He's a defensive rush, absolute freak so it up tempo offenses give these guys problems.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Um and it's not like Alabama has Minka Fitzpatrick and Patrick Stertain back there.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: These are they don't they do not have the all-world secondary.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: But secondary is their weak unit.
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: There is their weak unit.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, honestly, this is not, you know, if if if Tennessee was the greatest triple option rushing team going to Alabama, I would not be very optimistic because Alabama is gonna stop the run, even if they were the greatest of all time.
- 52:13SPEAKER_02: Just because but their pass defense is suspect and it is it is vulnerable.
- 52:17SPEAKER_02: Their secondary back, their back end is not the infamous Alabama secondary back ends with multiple first rounders that we've known.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: So I, you know, if they if Hypel can find a way and Hooker, Hooker with his legs, if he can find a way to kind of neutralize Will Anderson or at least slow him down, contain him, give kind of game plan for him.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: I like I like Tennessee's opportunity to have success on offense in nayland in front of that crowd a lot.
- 52:42SPEAKER_03: Well, they're still gonna need to run the ball.
- 52:44SPEAKER_03: Um, the offense still operates best when they're running the football.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: Uh and and they're gonna have to know where Anderson is at all times.
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: But if they can get the sticks moving just a little bit and get that up tempo going, he's not gonna be able to move around.
- 53:02SPEAKER_03: He's not gonna be able to surprise them and and and kind of bounce around um the line the way that he's used to doing and come from different angles and things.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: Um, and so that will definitely make things easier.
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: The offensive line has actually performed pretty well.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, I I really trust the staff.
- 53:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, they know what they're going up against, they're gonna be ready on offense.
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: I'm not too worried about our ability to score points.
- 53:28SPEAKER_03: Whether it's enough points is a different story.
- 53:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Bryce Young, you know, how healthy is he gonna be?
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: Is he gonna be 80%?
- 53:34SPEAKER_03: What does an 80% Bryce Young look like?
- 53:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um, does he get hit in the second quarter and go down again?
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, all these things, I mean, that's all anyone wants to talk about is Bryce Young for good reason.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: Um, but that's the biggest question mark here.
- 53:48SPEAKER_03: I just like the vols.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: I just feel it just feels like I said against Florida, it just feels different right now.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: And if there were ever a time for this to happen, um Bama's looked vulnerable.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: We're clicking on on so many different levels.
- 54:04SPEAKER_03: I just I think now's the time.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: I think now's the time too.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: I'm taking the vols.
- 54:08SPEAKER_02: Taking the vols.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: So am I.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: Uh, I'll take the points though.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: I'll take I'll take plus seven.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: But I really hope you guys win as well.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: And if Bryce Young is out, then I'm gonna hit that money line too.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, very cool.
- 54:17SPEAKER_02: Uh let's talk quickly about LSU at Florida.
- 54:19SPEAKER_02: Florida minus three, seven o'clock on ESPN.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: Um, Anthony Richardson against Jaden Daniels.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, this is a crazy weird game.
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: Uh LSU's one super weird.
- 54:28SPEAKER_02: Super weird.
- 54:28SPEAKER_02: The the shoe game a couple years ago.
- 54:30SPEAKER_02: Um throw's a shoe.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Honestly.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: Um, it's uh neither team.
- 54:36SPEAKER_02: The Billy Napier is in his first year at Florida, Brian Kelly's first year at LSU, Anthony Richardson came with a lot of hype, beat Utah.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: It's kind of fallen off sense.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: Uh Jaden Daniels is we've already talked about him hit or miss.
- 54:49SPEAKER_02: This game could go either way.
- 54:50SPEAKER_02: Uh, it's in the swamp, which is a hell of a place to play.
- 54:53SPEAKER_02: Um, it's tough.
- 54:54SPEAKER_02: This uh series um has gone to LSU's favor a bunch of a bunch of the last 10 years, so I kind of like that.
- 55:00SPEAKER_02: Um, but I don't have much confidence that we're gonna win by 10 or lose by 10 for that matter.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: I'm what I'm expecting this game to be is just a cluster.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: Um, there's gonna be something weird happening.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: There's gonna be there's but Florida special teams aren't great either.
- 55:14SPEAKER_02: A punt block on sides.
- 55:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, literally flip a coin.
- 55:18SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't have a good read on this game either.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: I think um Anthony Richardson is kind of like a better version of Jaden Daniels.
- 55:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like that.
- 55:27SPEAKER_03: That's a fair assessment.
- 55:29SPEAKER_03: And they both have good defenses.
- 55:31SPEAKER_03: LSU, I would give the edge um on the line and and and really in the front seven, probably every I would probably give LSU's defense the edge in general.
- 55:41SPEAKER_03: Um I think Florida has a little bit better identity on offense and it's at home.
- 55:47SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 55:48SPEAKER_03: I do think special teams could play a big part in this.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: LSU's special teams continue to look pretty bad.
- 55:53SPEAKER_02: For the most like three and a half, it was my LSU minus, depending where you look, LSU minus, I mean, Florida minus three, excuse me.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know who's gonna win this game, but Florida being at home, I would probably take them to win.
- 56:05SPEAKER_03: I don't know about covering, but that's that would be my pick.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: I think it's a toss-up.
- 56:09SPEAKER_03: I think I think this could be a fluky, turnovery, messy, sloppy.
- 56:15SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm expecting.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: I'm expecting both teams that can kind of continue what they do, which are what teams with inconsistent rosters, miss uh different levels of talent, different spots, uh sporadic quarterback play.
- 56:27SPEAKER_02: Everyone's this is so both floor.
- 56:29SPEAKER_02: I expect both Florida and LSU to be to be substantially better teams next year, and maybe even the year after that.
- 56:34SPEAKER_02: But this year, it's gonna be an ugly game.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: I have no idea who's gonna win.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: So that's my take.
- 56:39SPEAKER_03: Well, I wouldn't even look towards next year.
- 56:41SPEAKER_03: I think what you're looking for both for both of these squads is week-to-week improvement.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: So it'll be interesting to see which of these teams makes the jump from last week.
- 56:50SPEAKER_02: There would be there's a world where LSU plays like a flawless game and they lose by three, and I'm like, okay, that's okay.
- 56:56SPEAKER_02: We played, you know, no penalties.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, we we kicked all of our field goals, we covered all of our punts, you know, like okay, like no turnovers.
- 57:02SPEAKER_02: Like, there's there's a world where we lose this game and doesn't feel like a loss just because if everybody plays the football game, they're supposed to play.
- 57:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, and and Florida's coming off of a respectable win against Missouri.
- 57:13SPEAKER_03: Um, Missouri looked sharp against Georgia, which is why I say that's respectable.
- 57:19SPEAKER_03: I was gonna say, I was like, where are you getting that from?
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, it's fair.
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: Anytime you take Georgia to the anytime you take Georgia to the wire, then you you can put some respect on the Missouri name.
- 57:29SPEAKER_03: Anthony Richardson didn't have a very good game, but yeah.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: Uh uh, let's keep it rolling.
- 57:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, Miami at Virginia Tech.
- 57:36SPEAKER_02: This is like the 2005 like biggest game of college football.
- 57:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, these two programs are obviously not where they used to be.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: We're talking talked about Virginia Tech a little bit.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: This game's at noon.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: Miami's seven and a half point favorite.
- 57:46SPEAKER_02: Tyler Van Dyke is probably looking for a bounce back game.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: He's probably looking at Virginia Tech as the team to kind of cure uh his offensive woes.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm thinking Miami because I just I'm I'm not seeing a lot in tech.
- 57:56SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 57:57SPEAKER_02: They're just we've we've talked about it enough times.
- 58:00SPEAKER_02: Miami has less questions and they have a better quarterback.
- 58:03SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah.
- 58:04SPEAKER_03: Van Dyke put up almost 500 yards um last week.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, wow.
- 58:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they lost.
- 58:10SPEAKER_03: I think it was like four seventy something, I don't know.
- 58:13SPEAKER_03: Um, and I think they play better on the road.
- 58:16SPEAKER_03: I think Miami has a really bad home environment, and this will be a fun environment for him as a as a college football player.
- 58:25SPEAKER_03: Miami has more horses, just flat out.
- 58:27SPEAKER_03: And Virginia Tech does not have the offense to keep up.
- 58:30SPEAKER_03: I think it's pretty simple in that regard.
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: So Miami should win this one.
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: Uh all right.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: We've we are we're a little under an hour, so we're just gonna do we're gonna do one take from here on for the rest of these games.
- 58:41SPEAKER_02: Uh let's whip through them.
- 58:42SPEAKER_02: Uh number 10, Penn State at number five, Michigan.
- 58:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, Michigan's minus seven at noon on Fox.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Michigan is good, but I get this is the game that we'll actually find out.
- 58:54SPEAKER_02: Uh, I'll take Aid McMara at home that they cover.
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like Michigan.
- 58:59SPEAKER_03: I I kind of think Penn State has been propped up a little bit.
- 59:02SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, everyone kind of looked at that early season win against Auburn is pretty substantial, and Auburn's a miss.
- 59:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:10SPEAKER_03: Uh and that, you know, so how much how much does that mean?
- 59:12SPEAKER_03: I think Michigan hangs on in a probably a pretty good game.
- 59:15SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: Uh number eight, Oklahoma State at number 13, TCU, TCU minus four at 330 on ABC.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: Sonny Dykes and Max Duggan and TCU, Quentin Johnson, they are good.
- 59:26SPEAKER_02: Um, and I think they are I think Okie State is uh I I I I like TCU.
- 59:31SPEAKER_02: I every every time I see them on television, I'm impressed by them.
- 59:34SPEAKER_02: TCU covers.
- 59:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like both of these teams, but I like TCU's offense better than than Okie State.
- 59:39SPEAKER_03: So I'll I'm going TCU too.
- 59:41SPEAKER_02: Okay, we agree.
- 59:42SPEAKER_02: Uh number 15, NC State at number uh 18, Syracuse, Syracuse minus three.
- 59:47SPEAKER_02: Um uh in that whatever dome is the carrier dome at three at 330 on ABC.
- 59:52SPEAKER_02: Um Syracuse has the number one defense in the country, but NC State's also awesome at D.
- 59:58SPEAKER_02: I don't know who's winning this game.
- 59:59SPEAKER_02: I'm taking the under.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_03: Um I think Syracuse has survived on some kind of juju luck, you know, some kind of weird thing all season long that has gotten them where they are.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_03: And it's it stops now.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_03: They just they keep winning these fluky games that they shouldn't have won.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_03: And NC State is the better team, they're they're better on defense, and they've got the better quarterback.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_03: I like NC State.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: Do we know that Devin O'Leary is playing?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_02: I know that they they've talked about his.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm assuming he's a go, but they're thinking he might not be.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_02: Do you know?
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_02: No, I thought he was a go.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_02: Um, which obviously Devin O'Leary is one of the better quarterbacks in the ACC.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_02: That would make a big difference.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, very cool.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_02: Uh, number seven, USC against number 20 Utah.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_02: Uh, this game is uh in the mountains.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: Uh USC is minus three and a half.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_02: Um mobile quarterbacks have been, I write this earlier in the show, mobile quarterbacks have been plaguing Utah, uh, Anthony Richard and Dory Thompson Robinson.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: Caleb Williams can move.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: I think Utah is a better team, top to bottom, but Caleb Williams and Jordan Addison and their ability to dial things up.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_02: Rink Lincoln Riley's gonna have him on rollouts, uh doing all kinds of fun stuff.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_02: Keepers, um, give me give me USC.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I I kind of wanted Utah in this game from preseason even until a couple weeks ago.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: But the more that I look at it, the more that I think USC just continues to get better, continues to figure it out, and I like USC.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_03: Very cool.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_02: Uh Auburn at number nine, Ole Miss.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, Ole Miss playing great defense and running the ball consistently.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: Auburn, this is the game they're gonna fire Brian Harson.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_02: Auburn Ole Miss is obviously gonna win.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_02: This is the game that that that's my call.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: That's my better.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: But they went by.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: Uh I think the spread is.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_03: What do the points need to be for him to get fired?
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: I think it was 16 or 17.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: They're gonna win by three touchdowns.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: So Ole Miss is going by 21.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: Brian Harson gets fired this week.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_02: I'm not betting on the cover of the spread.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: I'm betting on the firing.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_02: Brian Harson gets fired.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: Over.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_03: Um, what's the over under on a Sunday night fire?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_03: He'll make it to Monday.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_02: He'll get to his office Monday morning, he'll have his coffee.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_02: You run it here first.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_02: Say good day.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_02: Uh, number 19, Kansas at Oklahoma.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_02: I don't care that if Jalen Daniels is playing or not.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_02: I think Jason Beam is running this schematic offense so well, and Oklahoma is in an absolute tailspin on defense.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_02: Lock.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_02: Lock it up.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_02: Kansas is gonna win this game.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: They are seven and a half point dogs.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_02: Take that juicy money line.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: Thank me on Monday or Sunday and put me, get at me sliding up our DMs, do whatever.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_02: Kansas uh is gonna don't even take the points, they're gonna win.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_02: They're gonna win that game.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I agree.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_03: Um, I wish that I had some awesome follow-up to that, but Kansas has looked better.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_03: Oklahoma has looked like garbage.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: This is not a knee-jerk reaction.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_03: Um, Kansas is doing things better schematically, they look like the the more well-coached team, and I don't think that a Texas beatdown is enough to wake Oklahoma up to survive this game.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_03: Me neither.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: I it's yeah, I I don't I Oklahoma will be has better days ahead of them.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_02: It's not this week.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_02: There is so much to be said for a well-coached team with a lot of buy-in, and Kansas is exactly that.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_02: I cannot believe I'm taking a Kansas money line, the seven and a half point favorites.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_02: We are you and I are both sticking it to Vegas.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_02: Unbelievable.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_02: But I I don't know.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_03: I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_02: I don't tell you either.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_02: We're super smart over here.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_02: Super smart.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_02: Wicked Smat.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: Number 16, Mississippi State at number 21, Kentucky.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: Will Levis is back as on is playing that, but I don't think I care because the better will is on the other side of the ball.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_02: Um, the Vegas has moved sharply against it.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_02: Went from minus seven to minus four.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: Money's coming in on Kentucky.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: I guess they're really banking on Chris Red, Chris Rodriguez and uh Will Levis.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: I don't see it.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: What I saw out of them last week in that ugly game against uh South Carolina, I know Levis wasn't playing, but they looked terrible.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_02: And Mississippi State, that that all Mike Leach has that offense humming.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_02: Give me the give me this give me the uh give me the ball, dogs.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've said all year long that this is not the same Kentucky team that we saw last year.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_03: And it starts on the offensive line.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_03: They're they're there's no, it's not a coincidence that Will Levis is turning the ball over.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_03: I mean, he he was a turnover machine last year too, but they have the one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC, if not the worst.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: And that doesn't change no matter who you put at quarterback.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_03: Chris Rodriguez is gonna get his, but Mike Leach has found something on the ground, and their offense looks good.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_03: And Kentucky is not gonna be able to do enough on either side of the ball.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_03: So I like I like Moose State.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_02: Shout out Moose State's defense, too.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_02: It's full of uh full of uh third year, fourth year, and fifth year guys who are just solid defenders.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_02: They're they're one of the better defenses in the SEC, which Mike Leech teams are not known for.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_02: So kudos to Mike Leach uh Bulldogs give them a play.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_03: If Kentucky does win this game, it'll be kind of one of those hero games for Levis.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: So that'll be interesting to tune in and see if it's close, if you know what he dials up.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: Number four, Clampson at Florida State.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_02: Florida State with a back breaking loss to NC State on that horrendous interception in the end zone.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: Um I Mike Norvell is gonna need he can't win this game, but he's gotta show up.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: Um if Florida State, this is year three, they've had to arrive some highs and lows this season, they're not gonna win, but if they're not competitive, they're in big trouble.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm not sure they're gonna be competitive.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_03: Clemson has looked really good.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_03: They continue to kind of teeter on the edge of, you know, will they, won't they, um, on the on the side of FSU.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_03: So, you know, DJ Uy on Delalay still playing really well.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_03: Clemson's defense still lights out.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: This is this should be this should be a Clemson game, start and finish.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_02: Go ahead and put Clemson in the playoff.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: This is their last quote unquote test before the mighty coastal championship.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_02: I guess Pitt is Pitt back?
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_02: Is Pit the is Pitt the clean?
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_02: I don't know what's pit's not back.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_02: Pitt's not back.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_02: Uh last one, Iowa State at number 25, Texas.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_02: Iowa State Matt Camilla team is good, but Quinn Ewers and Bijan Robinson, those guys are flying.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_02: Um, Texas is back, Texas in a route.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Iowa State does not have the offense to keep up.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_03: Texas can can do it however they want.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_03: If they want to hand it off and give Bichon 250 yards, they can do that.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_03: If they want to continue to get Quinn Ewers sharp after the injury and give him you know 300 plus yards passing, they can do it that way too.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_03: Texas all day.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_03: Texas all day.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_03: We we're agreeing on like every single one of these, so we're probably gonna be wrong on a few.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's that's probably fair to say.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_02: Or we're gonna make you guys really, really rich this week, and you're all gonna thank me, including that Brian Harsh one, the most important one.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_02: All right, that's the last game that I want to talk about.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_02: Any anything else you want to mention before uh going on this week?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_02: Uh Louisiana is playing Marshall right now.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: Marshall is a minus seven point favorite.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_02: They're losing by 16.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_02: Uh Lego Rajan Cajun.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_02: Fight back.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I did.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_03: I wanted to um to to to put everyone's eyes back on JMU because I think that what was that, a 14 and a half point spread against Georgia Southern?
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_03: Take Georgia Southern.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_02: Yes, if you do not live in the state of Virginia, it's a 12-point JMU minus 12.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: If you do not live in the state of Virginia, because we can't bet on it because we're here in Virginia.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_02: Um, but Georgia Southern's a very respectable 3-3 going against the Buzzsaw, which is a 5-0, 3-0.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_02: I'll take just so we have something different.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: I'm taking Duke's.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_02: I'm picking Dukies every game this this year until they show me other they've been murdering everybody.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_02: Georgia Southern having a good season.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_03: Georgia Southern almost beat your coastal Carolina team.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_03: You know, they're they're pretty solid.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: They have they have not seen the the dogs of Duke, though.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_02: And they beat Nebraska, they put the first nail in Scott Frost's coffin.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_02: Does that mean anything at this point?
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_03: It does.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_03: That was before Nebraska quit.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_02: That's yeah, although they're better now, too.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: No sense.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, very cool.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_02: Any any other matchups we want to touch on before we get out of here?
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_03: No, no, it's go balls, getting disrespected all week.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_03: Let's go.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_03: Count it.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_03: Now is the time.
