We're going to talk about the difference today between being a child of God and a child

Well, let's talk about what Jesus said.

But first, let's go to John, or first John, chapter four, which says, beloved, do not

believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many

false prophets have gone out into the world.

And by this, you know the spirit of God, ready?

Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.

And every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.

This is the spirit of the antichrist of which you have heard is coming, and now is already

in the world.

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is He who is in you

than He who is in the world.

They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world and the world listens

to them.

We are from God.

He who knows God listens to us.

He who is not from God does not listen to us.

By this, we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

So I've got some other things I want to read.

And I wasn't going to share some of this because I'm still kind of in my heart going, what

do people need to hear and what is unnecessary because the reaction of some on the left

has been really awful to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

This shouldn't surprise us when we understand what you and I are going to talk about on

So you heard what I read from first John and I know you have your thoughts on how we

can discern and how we need to distinguish between children of God and people who are

not children of God, different worldview, we are not the same.

I love when we use biblical illustrations to help drive home a biblical principle, right?

So we know that it was a very real and literal account when a mob gathered and of course

there was a choice to be made and the choice was between Brabis whose name actually means

Bar Abba, Son of the Father and Jesus who we know is the true Son of the Father and

the crowd of course incited by lies stirred up by troublemakers and of course we know

where there's trouble, where there's smoke, there's fire, where there are lies, there's

the liar, right, the father of lies and who did they choose?

They chose Brabis and the weak and woke mind often chooses Brabis because those spirits

connect and the awake mind, the mind that is awake to righteousness chooses Jesus.

So that's a perfect way to begin because John spells it out in his first epistle, first

John you read it and it's very clear there's a juxtaposition and a distinction between

two spirits, the spirit of truth as defined by Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the spirit of

lies and of course we can use the spirit of Christ and as John he gives us that phrase

the spirit of the anti-Christ.

So again every time I am on your show it seems like this theme comes to the surface that

there's a clash between worldviews, between kingdoms, between two spirits, it's not

that complex, it's not that complicated, you begin to see who's who.

Now the question is how do you discern who's who, what are the signs or the patterns

that identify a believer who's harnessed by heaven and a nonbeliever and this is where

kind of gets a little bit muddy because the enemy doesn't always show himself as this

demonic and evil entity that you can say that's evil and if sometimes he comes masqueraded

as light disguised which is why you have to have the Holy Spirit within you to be able

to discern the truth from the lie.

So we can talk about that but I also think we should clarify that not everyone is a

child of God, right?

And that's what I wanted to talk about because there's this faulty idea going around even

among Christians that someone would kind of think like yeah we're all God's children

that's why we need to love one another, said no you kind of got different verses mixed

up there and taking out a context, believers in Christ and those who follow God and obey

his word and have put their faith in Jesus, our children of God, Jesus talked to the most

religious leaders of his day and said you are of your father, the devil, whoa, wait a minute,

that's Jesus now and you're going to wait a minute, how could he say such a thing?

So they did not have God's business in mind, they had man's business.

So at the wonderful God glorifying Jesus exulting memorial service for Charlie Kirk, the gospel

was shared over and over and over his wonderful event.

Not everybody who took the stage was a Christian if that wasn't church, it was a memorial

friend so stop being nitpicky.

But the gospel was shared, now few people did say certain things and that's why I wanted

to talk to you about this because we've heard this for a while but then we heard this

at a big event that went all over the world.

We're all children of God, no we're not, why do I say that Matthew can you help me explain?

It's the safe thing to say, right, it's the nice thing to say, we're all children of

God, but biblically speaking, that is not accurate.

We are all created in the image of God, right, that's Genesis 127.

So I say it like this and it's very simple that you are born into God's image but you

must be born again to enter into God's family.

And John, John chapter 1 verse 12 tells us those that receive Christ to them, they are

given the right or the word is power to become children of God.

So there's a clear distinction in Scripture that only those in Christ who accept Jesus

as their Lord and Savior become adopted into God's family and they become sons and daughters

of God.

And that's why there is a clear distinction between the children of God, the sons and daughters

of the King and obviously as you started Jesus said, hey, your children of the devil,

your father is a liar and a murderer from the beginning and you are the offspring of

him.

So that's a hard message, but that's the truth of the message.

Every life has value because of the Amago day, the image of God, every life has moral implications

I say, characterological implications, emotional implications, spiritual implications, we are

triune beings, mind, body and spirit.

So there's value intrinsically in every life on planet earth, which is why every life

should be valued, but make no mistake.

The only way to be a child of God is through Jesus Christ and he said that, I am the way the

truth and the life and no one can come to the father and call him father except through

And that is why you can be an orphan in a home, but without adoption papers, you don't

And when we become part of God's family, we have a new name, a new nature, a new inheritance,

and by God's grace, we have a new home.

That's what it means to be a child of God.

the same and we are of a different spirit because there is the Holy Spirit.

And then what you might want to call the unholy spirit, the spirit of Antichrist, demonic

spirits, there are spirits, there are minions, powers and principalities, and they are manifesting

in this natural world that we're seeing some of the fruit, and it is awful.

It is destructive because he is the father of lies and he comes to kill, steal and destroy.

So I read this post from Benny Johnson last week, Charlie Kirk was killed by a leftist

and we'll get to that response.

What did the right do?

Now when you say the right, we can define it as conservatives, politically or morally,

we can put Christians in there, biblical Christians, we can put independence or Republicans

or whatever, but he says, what did the right do?

Pray, mourn, go to church, encourage other people, and he said, what did the left do?

And this is just right after right following the assassination.

First of all, a pedophile who was apparently a registered Democrat, George Zinn, distracted

law enforcement right after the assassination, claiming to be Charlie's shooter to help

the assassin get away.

Well, he was charged criminally.

That was the first immediate act.

A bomb was planted on a Fox News vehicle by two Democrat voters, criminal and terrorism

charges, massive Charlie Kirk Memorial vandalized and destroyed in Arizona, that guy got criminal

charges.

A DNC super donor, Democrat super donor shoots up the ABC affiliate building in Sacramento

because Jimmy Kimmel was apparently taken off the air.

He got criminal charges.

The Kimmel show was suspended for lying about left-wing terrorism, thousands upon thousands

of leftists losing their jobs for celebrating Charlie Kirk's death publicly.

Now a lot of people thought it, a lot of people, but some were to bold enough to just put

it on in social media or whatever, and a lot of people lost their jobs.

A Texas tech student assaulted a Charlie Kirk supporter.

That person was, I believe, suspended criminal charges.

Another student mocked Charlie's death and threatened TPUSA students.

Another suspension, 58 House Democrats vote against disavowing political violence.

By the way, during this time Brett Kavanaugh's left-wing political assassin revealed he was

transgender, a bomb threat at RFK Jr's house.

That person got criminal charges and we could go on, but this was all in one week.

The point is, there are a different spirit.

We are not the same.

This reaction alone proves that this is not a both sides problem.

Let's talk about the facts and the truth.

So go ahead, and maybe we'll get to some recent polling data that again shows that these

people are of a different spirit.

They need the gospel and they need Jesus.

Once they reject God and they're in their rebellion, this is what's happening.

Yeah, that's what we would call biblically a reprobate mind.

So people do put people on the spectrum from right to left, but at my church I try to get

them to see up and down heaven and hell because that's ultimately what it comes down to.

There was one side, whatever spirit there of, organizing violence after the tragic death

of George Floyd.

And then fast forward these five years later and you have a different side, organizing

So on one side you have violence.

On the other side you have vigils.

On one side you have riots.

On the other side you have revival and you have prayer.

There's clearly two different spirits now.

And we found out from camera angles that his knee wasn't on the neck and he died based

on other reasons.

But the reason I bring that up is because when you had me on your show last, I talked

about the vulnerability of the neck and America's neck was exposed.

The spirit behind the neck, our neck's dropped in humility and mourning and grieving and

prayer and brokenness and the other side's neck's hardened and got calloused and stiffened

in mockery and jeering.

And there's two spirits.

Let me read this passage, Ephesians chapter 2.

And you he made alive.

That's Jesus making us alive who were dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked

and now here's the key phrases.

According to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, and here

it is, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, not the spirit at work in

all of God's children, know the spirit, which is the anti-Christ spirit at work in the

sons of disobedience.

So clearly the scriptures delineate.

There's the spirit of God in Christ.

We become children of God and hopefully we're not walking in the flesh.

We're talking in the flesh.

We are walking in the spirit.

We are led by the spirit of truth.

Or conversely in the opposite, you see those that are walking in an anti-Christ spirit

and you see the Romans road that I want to talk about is Romans 1 where you see reprobate

And that is the clash of kingdoms that we are currently witnessing.

I want to mention something I don't often say this but I'm hoping that if you've been

all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Not everybody will because people will reject him and look at some of the actions of those

who would mock Christians and believers and they have rejected God and read Romans 1

But I want to say not every Democrat is evil.

It's amazing that I feel that they need to say that because we are talking a lot about

the left and just as on the right you wouldn't want to put if one wacko did something on the

right and did something to whatever or some Democrat, we wouldn't want to all be blamed

for it.

Well, so, but we are talking about a spirit behind all this.

We are talking about a rebellion against God.

We are talking about a worldview issue and we are talking, we're seeing a lot of fruit

and I would say rotten fruit if it's evil, if it's sin, if it's reprobate mind.

But I just want to mention a couple things because first of all, I don't like people

putting blanket coverage over groups and I think that's dangerous.

They've done that in recent years, Matthew, with Christian nationalism.

I love this nation because we were one nation under God and I love the Church of Jesus Christ.

I am a Christian.

But when someone's accused, they use these derogatory terms.

They try to attack you with Christian nationalism.

I always ask them, well, what do you mean by that?

Define what you mean by nationalism and then what is a Christian nationalism?

Do you want to share some thoughts on that because a lot of people are still defensive

when they hear that true believers that really are loving, compassionate, God fearing biblical

Christians and they don't know how to respond to that because that's the enemy trying to

attack and what's the word intimidate?

Yeah, well, first and foremost, it's a made up term that has been weaponized, right?

Because you don't want to be identified as and kind of the funnel, it goes like this.

It's Christian nationalism, right, and it eventually kind of leads to they think white

supremacies connected to that and obviously fascism, which is a derogatory word from Nazi

But I love what Vody Bachum said and I don't know if it was recent or not, but he said,

what's the alternative?

Do you want secular nationalism, which is a godless state?

Do you want Islam nationalism, which is sharia law, which again becomes tyrannical?

Christians are the ones who understand civil government more than anyone else because

we have the God who gave it to us.

So it's a made up term to weaponize and silence true believers who are taking the truth of

God's word to the public square who are intending to be salt and light, which is what we

And I think when that word comes at me, I take it as a compliment.

In fact, we're the only ones, Christians, that allow freedom of religion.

And I think coming back to our original topic, right now, the mystery of lawlessness, the

The unveiling of lawlessness is permeating the world.

We're seeing it on a global scale.

And of course, the clash in America is because if America, this bastion of freedom, if America

falls, that anti-Christ globalist spirit will be able to do what the anti-Christ is positioning

and posturing himself to do, which the Bible spells out for us.

So we're not going into this thing blind.

We know how it all ends, but until then, we're going to call it as it is, David.

a blanket statement on one entire political subversive of the other, there's Republicans

So the reason we're able to say the left, the ideology of the left today is not political.

And the moment it became moral was the moment the church had the authority to speak to it.

There's only two genders, which side espouses biology as God defines it or the transgression

We believe life begins in the womb, the value of life, which side, which ideology says

life matters or it's, you can terminate it at any juncture along the way.

I mean, the marriage between a man and a woman, which side, which ideology, if that's the

We can blur those lines.

So if you believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, if you believe that life

is valued in the womb, if you believe that there's only two genders, if you believe that

nation should have secure borders, then it's time to come to the side where your values

And the most important thing that Charlie Kirk wanted the people to know was you need

to know Jesus.

You know, you need to have a relationship with Jesus Christ when it's all said and done.

And that's kind of what keeps us centered.

this because one of the reasons is we have generally, as believers in Christ, as the

church in America, we've kind of, we're losing the war of words, the narrative, the redefining

of terms, redefining of truth, right?

So in the last couple of weeks, we've seen countless lost souls or rebellious people,

spirits who are not children of God, they're, you know, they're celebrating the death of

a man, Charlie Kirk, who believed the same biblical principles and had the same worldview

as most of you watching and listening and as Matthew and myself, how do we respond

to this?

We don't have a podcast on that, but let's just end with some, keep the faith encouragement

from a pastor, your pastor's perspective.

That's a great question.

So the Christians response should never be reactive.

We don't react because at times when I react, it's in the flesh.

We are called to be redemptive in our responses, which means I take a moment to pray.

And I just said that to my church in light of all the conspiracies that are floating around

on the internet around Charlie's death, that we are not called to share conspiracy.

We are called to share Christ, to bear witness to the truth.

That's why Jesus came.

That's why he was born to bear witness to the truth to himself.

So as Christians in a world of confusion, keep the main thing, the main thing.

Do not respond in the flesh to everything you see, especially online.

The media is a cesspool right now.

It's set ablaze by the fires of hell and only use it to clarify God's Word, to offer

truth to the church at large.

If anyone follows me, they know that is true.

They don't engage in debates online.

I got some of the most antagonistic people pop up on my page and try to stir things up.

I'll either like it and let them know I saw it, but I will not respond.

And that's how the church, stable and steady, should move forward.

We should keep Christ at the forefront of our minds.

Keep our minds set on eternity.

Know that the battle that we are in has already been won by our king.

And it's in his name that we move forward.

The devil will continually prowl, looking he can devour.

But God recycles it just as Genesis 50, 20 says, what man meant for evil, God, he meant
