- 0:01Speaker 1: Yo, it's your girl Jessica and Smith and you already
- 0:10Speaker 1: know that you've entered the safe space for influencers to decompress,
- 0:14Speaker 1: have fun and just ask God.
- 0:17Speaker 2: For another do you already know what it is? And
- 0:19Speaker 2: then you know it's about to get real, So.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Be sure to show your girl the love and like
- 0:26Speaker 3: cow many, subscribe God.
- 0:27Speaker 4: For another day. Hey, hey, I know we could be
- 0:33Speaker 4: another way.
- 0:37Speaker 5: It's a new weekend, just as a podcast. The safe space,
- 0:40Speaker 5: what transparency meets transformation. It's your girl Jessica as Smith
- 0:44Speaker 5: and I do nothing.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Without my girl.
- 0:48Speaker 5: DESI rate, that's all right, Deli rate that a rate,
- 0:52Speaker 5: deiate Deli rate. Hey, hey, sisters, and you got them
- 0:57Speaker 5: lashes to day girls.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Well baby, you got to put a lash on baby
- 1:03Speaker 2: that last that last episode was on. It was one
- 1:06Speaker 2: of the episodes. I was like, baby, Christy and Dust
- 1:10Speaker 2: they can't do that again.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Mm hmm no, no, no, no no, we got a look.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Cute for the Saints. Cute for the Saints.
- 1:14Speaker 2: What's been going on with you? Desira, tell Us, tell us,
- 1:17Speaker 2: tell us, tell us.
- 1:18Speaker 5: You know, I'm just flowing with the Lord. Yeah, you know,
- 1:22Speaker 5: like every day it's been so interesting here, especially this
- 1:26Speaker 5: past week where I've had opportunities to that I need
- 1:31Speaker 5: to get things done, but it really felt like the
- 1:34Speaker 5: Holy Spirit was like, Nope, just sit there, Just sit
- 1:38Speaker 5: there and risk because you don't know how to sit down.
- 1:40Speaker 2: This is correct.
- 1:41Speaker 5: And so you know, I'm trying to just take every
- 1:44Speaker 5: day as every day it's supposed to be and just
- 1:48Speaker 5: trust that the things that need to get done will
- 1:52Speaker 5: get done and those that don't need to get done
- 1:55Speaker 5: to get done whenever they're supposed to get done. You
- 1:57Speaker 5: know how interesting it is that I don't know if
- 2:00Speaker 5: you deal with this, but when I supposed to be resting,
- 2:02Speaker 5: like oh my gosh, I feel guilty for resting. But
- 2:05Speaker 5: then when I'm not supposed to be resting, I have
- 2:09Speaker 5: like this major anxiety, like it's my anxiety beyond ten.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Like oh my gosh, I can't believe I have.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Something to get done and I really need to get done,
- 2:18Speaker 5: and maybe am I good enough to get it done? Well?
- 2:21Speaker 5: Oh all the thoughts, all the things, all the thoughts,
- 2:24Speaker 5: all the things, And so I think it's I think
- 2:26Speaker 5: it's it's so important to lean into Holy Spirit and
- 2:30Speaker 5: know the timing, like there's a time in Ecclesiastics. It's
- 2:35Speaker 5: really important to understand there is a time for this,
- 2:39Speaker 5: and it's a time for that.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Where am I? Where am I in time? The time?
- 2:43Speaker 5: And the only way we know where we are is
- 2:45Speaker 5: what through Holy Spirit. Which I'm so excited about today's
- 2:49Speaker 5: conversation because I don't know if I told you this
- 2:53Speaker 5: or not, but I am doing this Bible Plan currently,
- 2:58Speaker 5: and the Bible Plan is talking of about basically the
- 3:02Speaker 5: the the responsibilities of Holy Spirit, who Holy Spirit is,
- 3:08Speaker 5: way he does, how he shows up right. And the
- 3:10Speaker 5: devotionals are really not long, right, And so I've had
- 3:14Speaker 5: to like palls on this because I've gone into a
- 3:17Speaker 5: deep deeper study in some of these devotionals and I
- 3:21Speaker 5: was like, it looked like I'm skipping the day Bible out,
- 3:24Speaker 5: but I'm not.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm elongating the devotional. It's it's really it's really giving
- 3:30Speaker 2: me life right now.
- 3:31Speaker 5: And so let me see what this devotional called specifically,
- 3:34Speaker 5: just in case y'all want to, and I'll make suy'all
- 3:36Speaker 5: we link it, y'all get on desert. If if it's
- 3:39Speaker 5: not a link that description, y'all need to start calling
- 3:44Speaker 5: blame it own. DESI Ray Dance my fault. But the
- 3:50Speaker 5: but the the Bible Plan is called the Ministry of
- 3:54Speaker 5: Holy Spirit. It's by someone called Julie Gossick. Is g
- 3:59Speaker 5: o s it's a c k Okay, we'll make sure
- 4:01Speaker 5: we put the link. And so on day eight. Day
- 4:05Speaker 5: eight is about uh, the Holy Spirit convicts, right? And
- 4:11Speaker 5: I thought that was so interesting because we talk about.
- 4:15Speaker 2: How holy is he, how machic he is holy.
- 4:19Speaker 5: And he cut throat, and the Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit
- 4:25Speaker 5: is cutthrow And I think that when we think about
- 4:29Speaker 5: Holy Spirit, our original idea of Holy Spirit isn't that
- 4:36Speaker 5: we would experience uncomfort uncomfort with Holy Spirit because Holy
- 4:41Speaker 5: Spirit is what a counselor. We were introduced to him
- 4:44Speaker 5: first as a counselor. But my counselor convict me.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:48Speaker 5: I don't know about y'all. Does a rate when you
- 4:51Speaker 5: when you found out the Holy Spirit convicts?
- 4:53Speaker 2: What?
- 4:54Speaker 5: What hasn't been an experience that you have had the
- 4:57Speaker 5: Holy Spirit convicted you?
- 4:59Speaker 2: And how did you respond of that?
- 5:00Speaker 5: You know? The funny thing is it's not even like
- 5:03Speaker 5: the big things.
- 5:06Speaker 2: It's the it's the it's the little thing you're talking.
- 5:09Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. I like, you know, I
- 5:13Speaker 5: I'm trying.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I have been.
- 5:18Speaker 5: What's the word. I try not to use curse words
- 5:21Speaker 5: and things. You know, the delivery deliverance is still taking forth,
- 5:26Speaker 5: but it ain't like you don't be like just be like, oh,
- 5:30Speaker 5: but anyway, So let's say we drive driving if somebody
- 5:32Speaker 5: do something that's that's not very nice when they drive,
- 5:37Speaker 5: and I'll be like, your ugly self, and then I'd
- 5:40Speaker 5: be like, no, that I know, Holy Spirit, they're not ugly.
- 5:43Speaker 5: That's your child's scream. That's your child.
- 5:46Speaker 2: They're not ugly.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I don't. I don't even know the person. They are
- 5:48Speaker 5: fearfully and wonderfully made in the eyes of the Lord.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You say ugly, though, I do. I do.
- 5:58Speaker 5: I do I old ugly self, that what I say,
- 6:02Speaker 5: And then I be like, they're not ugly.
- 6:03Speaker 2: If ugly is a cussword, then I might be headed
- 6:06Speaker 2: to hell because.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I'm still that's my substitution, that's your substitution, your mouth.
- 6:13Speaker 5: I'm still finding my substitution right Shout out to my
- 6:17Speaker 5: our recover and bring on a hearted baby. She I
- 6:20Speaker 5: was talking to her, and I wasn't definitely in friend
- 6:22Speaker 5: mode when I was talking to her, and one of
- 6:25Speaker 5: them things slipped out, and I guess a couple of
- 6:28Speaker 5: them slipped out, and she stopped me. She said, when
- 6:30Speaker 5: you start that cussing, Oh, I knew. I knew it
- 6:33Speaker 5: wasn't friend no more, I knew it. I knew who
- 6:36Speaker 5: were I talking about? The prophet was coming out okay.
- 6:39Speaker 5: And that's also Holy Spirit helps you not only distinguish
- 6:43Speaker 5: the times, but Holy Spirit helps you distinguish who you're
- 6:45Speaker 5: talking to. I could be in one person. Desiree has
- 6:48Speaker 5: seen it most of the time. I could be with Desiree, friendly,
- 6:52Speaker 5: da da, and then some shift and she'd be like,
- 6:54Speaker 5: she gets quiet. I've really realized that you get quiet.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And so the Holy convicts.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Really, we really don't need to understand what conviction is
- 7:04Speaker 5: and what it's not right, because the enemy will try
- 7:08Speaker 5: to make us feel like that because you're being convicted.
- 7:15Speaker 5: There's no good in you. There's no no room for growth.
- 7:22Speaker 5: If I watch this, if the Holy Spirit doesn't love you, well,
- 7:27Speaker 5: didn't love you, he wouldn't convict you. I was just
- 7:29Speaker 5: gonna say, it's not that there's not anything good.
- 7:31Speaker 2: There is because it is good, and I'm trying to
- 7:33Speaker 2: get it out. Come on, I'm trying to get out.
- 7:35Speaker 5: So let me read this part of the devotion that
- 7:37Speaker 5: that got me, and I promise you like it's so simple.
- 7:39Speaker 5: It's so simple. It says, the Holy Spirit convicts. The
- 7:41Speaker 5: Holy Spirit reproves mankind of his unbelief. He reveals the
- 7:47Speaker 5: ways in which man has wronged God and departed from
- 7:51Speaker 5: his truth. He attests that mankind is deserving of eternal
- 7:57Speaker 5: judgment by a just and righteous goes. So the first
- 8:03Speaker 5: the first sentence of that is the Holy Spirit reproves
- 8:06Speaker 5: mankind of his unbelief?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Right?
- 8:10Speaker 5: Why is that so important? Why is that so important?
- 8:14Speaker 5: It's important because can you look up the word reproveing? Now, okay,
- 8:17Speaker 5: thank you.
- 8:18Speaker 2: It's so important because.
- 8:21Speaker 5: When you think about unbelief, that means that something does
- 8:24Speaker 5: not resonate with you. That means that that you are
- 8:29Speaker 5: that you are not in agreement. You're not in agreement
- 8:33Speaker 5: with these things. And so I want us to really
- 8:38Speaker 5: understand that conviction actually helps our unbelief. The question is
- 8:43Speaker 5: how do I help my unbelief? Conviction me getting convicted
- 8:47Speaker 5: of something, and me being conviction makes me aware, right,
- 8:52Speaker 5: Conviction brings stuff to light. So without conviction, you stay
- 8:56Speaker 5: in darkness, Thank your Holy Spirit. Reproof to reprove means
- 9:02Speaker 5: to scald, rebuke, or express disapproval of someone's behavior, typically
- 9:06Speaker 5: with a gentle corrective or kindly or kindly intent, rather
- 9:12Speaker 5: than with harsh condemnation. And this is where, okay, that's
- 9:16Speaker 5: where I got the word condemnation from, because it's like, okay,
- 9:21Speaker 5: if if they say without condemnation, why isn't conviction and
- 9:25Speaker 5: condemnation the same thing? And we're gonna walk this thing.
- 9:27Speaker 5: I don't know how long this one's gonna be, but
- 9:29Speaker 5: we're gonna walk this thing out because I think what
- 9:31Speaker 5: the enemy is trying to do, even like tries to
- 9:34Speaker 5: do continuously with us, is try to condemn us for
- 9:38Speaker 5: what we experience conviction for. And like we we God
- 9:43Speaker 5: is not a god of condemnation.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Right, We're gonna get to that. I think I'm moving
- 9:47Speaker 2: a little bit fast.
- 9:48Speaker 5: So it's John sixteen eight John sixteen, starting the eighth verse.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna read the Christian Standard version. If y'all haven't
- 9:58Speaker 5: been here, and y'all don't realize that we don't really
- 10:02Speaker 5: do the King James New King James version whatever.
- 10:05Speaker 2: When we need to, we will, but just go ahead
- 10:08Speaker 2: and get them.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Okay, all right, So John sixteen, the eighth verse, okay,
- 10:14Speaker 5: it says, and I'm reading eight through eleven, it says,
- 10:16Speaker 5: when he comes, he being Holy Spirit. When he comes,
- 10:20Speaker 5: he will convict the world about seining, righteousness, and judgment.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Let me pause right there. So basically the first the
- 10:29Speaker 5: first thing we were seeing here off rip this is a.
- 10:36Speaker 2: This is a.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Scripture, a chapter that explains the purpose of Holy Spirit,
- 10:43Speaker 5: right this chapter. So read the four chapter of sixteen.
- 10:47Speaker 5: But we're only taking bits and pieces out today. This
- 10:50Speaker 5: chapter understand makes it helps you understand the purpose of
- 10:53Speaker 5: Holy Spirit. And the reason why we're not seeing certain
- 10:57Speaker 5: things move or having levels of understanding is because we
- 11:00Speaker 5: don't do relationship with Holy Spirit. Why don't we do
- 11:03Speaker 5: relationship with Holy Spirit because we don't understand the purpose
- 11:06Speaker 5: of Holy Spirit. And so literally this chapter it tells
- 11:09Speaker 5: you the purpose of Holy Spirit, why Holy Spirit is
- 11:14Speaker 5: was left with us, and how he moves. Okay, And
- 11:18Speaker 5: in verse a he says, when he comes, he will
- 11:21Speaker 5: convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment. Now verse
- 11:25Speaker 5: nine says about sin because they do not believe in me.
- 11:30Speaker 5: About righteousness because I am going to the Father, and
- 11:34Speaker 5: you will no longer see me and about judgment, because
- 11:39Speaker 5: the ruler of this world has been judged, all right,
- 11:45Speaker 5: So as we as we walk through this, we have
- 11:47Speaker 5: to understand that these three things, what is that sin, righteousness,
- 11:52Speaker 5: and judgment.
- 11:53Speaker 2: He's coming for all of that right.
- 11:55Speaker 5: And I love how it even puts it in the
- 11:57Speaker 5: order does a ray where I'm convict you of your
- 12:00Speaker 5: sin right, And when you're convicted of your sin, it
- 12:04Speaker 5: leads to righteousness, and righteousness gives you what righteous judgment.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And so I'd rather be judged in heaven than go
- 12:14Speaker 2: ahead and be judged in here. You give what I'm saying.
- 12:17Speaker 5: And so I think that when we understand that the
- 12:19Speaker 5: Holy Spirit convicts us, it's actually a gift. When we
- 12:23Speaker 5: think about it, it's a gift for our future. It's
- 12:26Speaker 5: a gift so that we can meet the promises of God.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Right. Conviction helps us remain in alignment.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Oh this is good, I'm thinking about I've been kind
- 12:35Speaker 5: of slow walking through romans a little bit.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Uh huh, you're getting them walking through.
- 12:41Speaker 5: And what's coming up now. Why we need conviction is
- 12:45Speaker 5: because before before the law came right because of the fall,
- 12:49Speaker 5: you know, Adam and Eve sin which introduced sin into
- 12:52Speaker 5: the world.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:53Speaker 5: So people just living and doing what they thought was
- 12:57Speaker 5: just regular that they were just living life regularly.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:00Speaker 5: So as the law came, the law begin to show
- 13:03Speaker 5: them that what they're doing is actually harmful against themselves
- 13:06Speaker 5: and towards the Lord.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:08Speaker 5: So, hey, this is sin because X, y, and z,
- 13:11Speaker 5: and it also separates you from me the Father.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:15Speaker 5: So what conviction does is it begins it should turn
- 13:20Speaker 5: our heart towards the sin and re and and and
- 13:24Speaker 5: and lead us to repentance, right to get us back
- 13:27Speaker 5: to the right standings, the righteousness of the Lord. So
- 13:30Speaker 5: without conviction, we don't ain't gonna say we don't know.
- 13:34Speaker 5: But it's like a a unknowing in a sense, like
- 13:37Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. It's like like like if
- 13:40Speaker 5: I am accustomed to doing something right like a baby,
- 13:43Speaker 5: like a baby just they just following around. They just
- 13:45Speaker 5: trying to, you know, figure life out that or not.
- 13:47Speaker 5: If you don't say, hey, this is hot, yeah, right,
- 13:51Speaker 5: then you haven't not quite set them. Now you're setting
- 13:53Speaker 5: the boundaries up for what their safety is, right, right.
- 13:56Speaker 5: If you say, hey, don't walk down, don't go down,
- 13:58Speaker 5: these stairs, right, they may not unders so we put
- 14:00Speaker 5: guardrails at the stairs when they walk down the stairs.
- 14:03Speaker 5: So what the conviction is? They be like, ah, I remember.
- 14:07Speaker 2: This is hot. Yeah, come on, you know what I'm saying, Oh,
- 14:10Speaker 2: this is there.
- 14:11Speaker 5: I'm not supposed to go down there. But that's what
- 14:14Speaker 5: the conviction does for us. It helps gives us these
- 14:17Speaker 5: safety boundaries so that now we can choose, we can
- 14:21Speaker 5: choose to do the right thing.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I think that's so.
- 14:24Speaker 5: I love how you use the analogy of a baby, right,
- 14:27Speaker 5: because we are sons and daughters of Christ. And so
- 14:30Speaker 5: if we are sons and daughters, the conviction is different,
- 14:33Speaker 5: you wonder, and we sometimes we want to be like, well, Lord,
- 14:36Speaker 5: how do they get to do it and I don't
- 14:38Speaker 5: get to do it. It's because you are a son,
- 14:40Speaker 5: you are a daughter. And what happens in our household
- 14:44Speaker 5: and is allowed in our household, which is the Kingdom household,
- 14:48Speaker 5: it looks different. And so if I'm in proximity with
- 14:51Speaker 5: Holy Spirit, that means I feel I feel more responsibility
- 14:57Speaker 5: to navigate as the Father wants me to know navigate.
- 15:00Speaker 5: And so, like you said that, there's boundaries and so
- 15:03Speaker 5: I can't worry about what the other children are doing
- 15:05Speaker 5: who do not claim to be followers of Jesus Christ.
- 15:08Speaker 2: That's not my responsibility. Now. My responsibility is to.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Love them and to show them, you know, the love
- 15:14Speaker 5: of the Lord, and be a representation. But there's certain
- 15:17Speaker 5: things that I can't do. Like I was telling someone
- 15:20Speaker 5: something I don't do, and I just I won't say
- 15:22Speaker 5: say that, just because I just had to think about that.
- 15:25Speaker 5: But there's certain things I won't do before recording. There's
- 15:29Speaker 5: certain things I won't digest before recording. There's certain moves
- 15:32Speaker 5: I will make. And I'll just say this because this
- 15:34Speaker 5: has been said before. At podcast summit, right, I've been
- 15:38Speaker 5: a podcast summit every year. If you don't know what
- 15:41Speaker 5: that is, a bunch of creators come together under the
- 15:45Speaker 5: leading of David Shan's one of my mentors, and we
- 15:50Speaker 5: get all the knowledge we need to make sure that
- 15:52Speaker 5: we're full of fake If you're interested in going July
- 15:55Speaker 5: second through July third, just go ahead podcast summit dot com.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Tell them just to sence you. Okay, So at my
- 16:01Speaker 2: very first podcast summit, at my very first podcast summit,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I knew nobody. I went by myself. You remember that
- 16:08Speaker 2: you had just came on board.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Only you, and it was you and Greg that knew
- 16:13Speaker 5: that I was going down there understood, and I got
- 16:16Speaker 5: all this knowledge. But before people were trying to link
- 16:21Speaker 5: up and network or whatever. So I found out where
- 16:25Speaker 5: a certain group of people were looking up and I
- 16:27Speaker 5: met Cookie. Cookie is a podcast out of Talent. I
- 16:29Speaker 5: think it's Dallas, Texas, I think. And so I met
- 16:33Speaker 5: heard some other people and they you know, they were eating,
- 16:36Speaker 5: they were drinking all stuff like that, and I was like,
- 16:39Speaker 5: give me, give me water with lemon, please, water with
- 16:43Speaker 5: lemon please. Everywhere I went, water with lemon please. You
- 16:45Speaker 5: get what I'm saying. I'm not here for that. I'm
- 16:48Speaker 5: not here for that. And I didn't know that that
- 16:51Speaker 5: stuck out to Cookie until she came to the podcast
- 16:55Speaker 5: a couple of years ago. She was like, Oh, yeah, Jessica,
- 16:57Speaker 5: you don't play no games. I didn't even think you
- 17:00Speaker 5: you drink.
- 17:01Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I spur you know, I
- 17:02Speaker 2: can drink a little wine all and stuff like that.
- 17:04Speaker 5: But but I also went through a year where the
- 17:08Speaker 5: Lord said, no, You're not doing this this year. You
- 17:10Speaker 5: get what I'm saying. So I had so I had
- 17:13Speaker 5: control over it. My conviction was different. Now, my conviction
- 17:16Speaker 5: is not, oh, don't drink. My conviction is don't be
- 17:18Speaker 5: doing it and you gotta you have to. You're you
- 17:22Speaker 5: are the representation for in this space, for these people, right,
- 17:27Speaker 5: And so I didn't think it mattered. But I didn't
- 17:29Speaker 5: think that was something that people were paying attention to.
- 17:31Speaker 5: And when Cookie said, hey, Jessica, I noticed that you
- 17:35Speaker 5: weren't drinking, and I like, people really pay attention to that.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Sometimes the conviction is not necessary, ooh, this is so good.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Sometimes the conviction is not about you. The convictions about
- 17:46Speaker 5: your witness and what people will see. Because if you
- 17:50Speaker 5: go in certain territories, they might be struggling, they might
- 17:53Speaker 5: be trying to navigate where they are with Christ.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And you all here talk about why I'm not convicted
- 17:58Speaker 2: by that. But in that moment, God is probably trying
- 18:00Speaker 2: to get your teachers like, hey, it's a scripture that talks.
- 18:03Speaker 5: About say, it's a scripture that said like even if
- 18:07Speaker 5: it's I'm paraphrase Parra, even if it may not be
- 18:10Speaker 5: a conviction for you, if you're in a space where
- 18:12Speaker 5: a brother or sister is there and it's something that
- 18:15Speaker 5: they're dealing with it's better to not do it so
- 18:17Speaker 5: that you help keep them from fault. Yes, and that's
- 18:20Speaker 5: not that's not the burbatim on the world. But that's
- 18:22Speaker 5: pretty much just of what it's saying. Because what did
- 18:24Speaker 5: God asks homeboy that killed his brother? He said no,
- 18:29Speaker 5: The guy said, am I my brother's keeper? And it's like,
- 18:33Speaker 5: but why aren't you your brother's keeper? We try, we
- 18:36Speaker 5: try to push the responsibility on like others, but some
- 18:40Speaker 5: people are just not strong enough to see you do
- 18:43Speaker 5: it and not do it themselves. You get what I'm saying.
- 18:45Speaker 5: And so if we are kingdom, if we are kingdom builders,
- 18:49Speaker 5: we're not just convicted victed for ourselves. We also have
- 18:53Speaker 5: the responsibility of others convictions and to manage that because
- 18:57Speaker 5: as a kingdom kid, as a kingdom citizen, you just
- 18:59Speaker 5: carry a different level of authority and anointing that you
- 19:04Speaker 5: may not necessarily recognize, but other people do so, like
- 19:07Speaker 5: you have such a higher level of influence than probably
- 19:10Speaker 5: sometimes in what we realize when we step into spaces,
- 19:13Speaker 5: like people are watching you know what I'm saying, and
- 19:15Speaker 5: we don't realize how closely people watch it sometimes until
- 19:17Speaker 5: somebody say something, until they say, but we have such
- 19:20Speaker 5: a great influence and annointy. It may look different. It
- 19:22Speaker 5: may not look like, oh I got a million followers,
- 19:25Speaker 5: but you walk into the gas station and somebody may
- 19:27Speaker 5: recognize something on you or the way you carry yourself
- 19:29Speaker 5: in a group of people.
- 19:30Speaker 2: That's that's still an influence, right, you know what I'm
- 19:32Speaker 2: saying right now?
- 19:33Speaker 5: That's so good. So let's be clear about what conviction is.
- 19:36Speaker 5: The whole conviction is the Holy Spirit's inner prompting that
- 19:40Speaker 5: exposes sin, corrects and God's believers toward righteousness, acting as
- 19:46Speaker 5: a gift of love or restoration, rather than condemnation. Right,
- 19:50Speaker 5: So that's where that we see again that they are
- 19:54Speaker 5: saying rather than condemnation. That means conviction is not the
- 19:58Speaker 5: same as condemnation. Conviction is not the same as combination.
- 20:02Speaker 5: And I love that we've been in John a past
- 20:04Speaker 5: couple of times that me and Desiree have been by self.
- 20:07Speaker 5: So if you, if you, if you scroll on over
- 20:12Speaker 5: to John three. John three sixteen is a beautiful passage.
- 20:18Speaker 2: We all know it.
- 20:19Speaker 5: For those that you know are in this line of faith,
- 20:22Speaker 5: that you don't know it, it's okay if you don't know.
- 20:24Speaker 2: We gonna learn it today. Okay.
- 20:25Speaker 5: So with that said, John three sixteen, I'm reading from
- 20:29Speaker 5: the Christian Standard version, and it reads, for God loved
- 20:33Speaker 5: the world. Wait up, For God loved the world in
- 20:37Speaker 5: this way He gave his only and one and only son,
- 20:42Speaker 5: so that everyone who believes in him will not perish
- 20:45Speaker 5: but have eternal life. For God did not send his
- 20:49Speaker 5: son into the world to condemn the world, but to
- 20:53Speaker 5: save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him
- 20:57Speaker 5: is not condemned. But anyone who does not believe in
- 21:01Speaker 5: believe is already condemned because he has not believed in
- 21:06Speaker 5: the name of the one and only Son of God.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Sometimes we gotta go beyond three sixteen because now I'm thinking,
- 21:17Speaker 5: you can't think that condemnation is not real. I'm not
- 21:19Speaker 5: telling you that condemnation is not real. I'm telling you
- 21:22Speaker 5: that condemnation does not belong to people that believe in
- 21:25Speaker 5: Jesus Christ Christ.
- 21:26Speaker 2: The only way you're not condemned is through your belief.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yes, and what you believe in will convict you to
- 21:32Speaker 5: walk in your belief. Yes. I hope y'all understand what
- 21:36Speaker 5: we're saying, because what the ending will try to do
- 21:39Speaker 5: is let you only read because he knows scripture too.
- 21:42Speaker 5: He will limit you to only read John three sixteen
- 21:46Speaker 5: and say, you know what, the Lord didn't come to
- 21:48Speaker 5: condemn the world.
- 21:49Speaker 2: He didn't. And that's fact.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Also and also and he has this has to be
- 21:56Speaker 5: said because he saved the world through him. Anyone who believes, says,
- 22:00Speaker 5: anyone who believes in him is not condemned.
- 22:03Speaker 2: So to not be to not experience condemnation, you must
- 22:07Speaker 2: what believe in Jesus. Believe in Jesus.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Christ, who God said, who is the son, who is
- 22:14Speaker 5: the holy One. Jesus also is the one that had
- 22:18Speaker 5: to move out the way, so that what Holy Spirit
- 22:21Speaker 5: can It all works together.
- 22:24Speaker 2: That's why we're going through different scriptures.
- 22:25Speaker 5: That's why we're navigating through different things, because what the
- 22:29Speaker 5: enemy would do is limit you to these famous scriptures
- 22:33Speaker 5: and used to experience no no conviction. You still stuck
- 22:36Speaker 5: in the condemnation because you you you have limited your
- 22:40Speaker 5: belief in God. You have limited you have a limited belief.
- 22:45Speaker 5: And and what I'm learning is we read Psalm's one
- 22:49Speaker 5: when in safe space, we're reading Psalms and the first
- 22:53Speaker 5: the first chapter talks about two ways this that this
- 22:57Speaker 5: or that, okay, this, and then it tells us the
- 23:01Speaker 5: reason why we have to read meditator on the word
- 23:04Speaker 5: that or not, because we got to stay on the
- 23:06Speaker 5: righteous path of God.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Because it's so.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Easy, it's so easy to trick ourselves into a believing
- 23:12Speaker 5: that the other side is okay. Anything outside of God
- 23:16Speaker 5: and his permissive his permission, you get what I'm saying,
- 23:20Speaker 5: anything that's outside of God's standard. I think we got
- 23:25Speaker 5: to get back to appreciating the standard of God.
- 23:29Speaker 2: What keeps me in the standard of God. Conviction and
- 23:33Speaker 2: this is not it's not a mean thing. And so
- 23:36Speaker 2: let's get into it.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Let's what is condemnation, because this is what condemnation conviction Two.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Different things can feel the same. Now, it can definitely
- 23:44Speaker 2: feel the same, but.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Especially I would say it feels the same when you
- 23:50Speaker 5: don't understand what they the two things are, okay, So condemnation,
- 23:55Speaker 5: to condemn is to declare someone guilty past sentence or
- 24:00Speaker 5: expressed strong disapproval, often focusing on the judgment for sin.
- 24:06Speaker 5: So example, condemnation with sa W would look like this,
- 24:12Speaker 5: I commit, I commit going back to the adulterous woman
- 24:17Speaker 5: or the woman who committed adulter in the in the Bible,
- 24:20Speaker 5: condemnation looked like the people that were ready to stone her. Right,
- 24:26Speaker 5: the law says that I I we need to stone her.
- 24:31Speaker 5: She is she not only needs to be judged, but
- 24:33Speaker 5: she needs to be put to death because of what
- 24:35Speaker 5: she did.
- 24:36Speaker 2: That's condemnation.
- 24:38Speaker 5: But conviction looks like hold up, y'all, move out the way,
- 24:44Speaker 5: let me deal with this. Darted one on one and
- 24:47Speaker 5: moves everything out of the way, tells you, hey, what do
- 24:50Speaker 5: you see here?
- 24:51Speaker 2: What was the problem this? You know this is not right?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Go and say no.
- 24:55Speaker 5: More So the the conviction addresses you for the moment.
- 25:00Speaker 5: It does not condemn you for the lifetime. It's good.
- 25:03Speaker 2: It makes you aware of what happened.
- 25:05Speaker 5: It does not keep you ignorant from the wrong, but
- 25:08Speaker 5: it promotes you and pushes you to remove yourself from wrongdoing.
- 25:14Speaker 5: And so I think that sometimes because we marry, remember
- 25:17Speaker 5: we talked about shame, we married the thing that made
- 25:19Speaker 5: us shameful. Right, This is why the voice is so
- 25:21Speaker 5: important of divorce and shame, the voice of what you did,
- 25:24Speaker 5: divorce and sin right, cleansing and purifying yourself and your
- 25:27Speaker 5: thoughts in mind every single day. This is important because
- 25:31Speaker 5: condemnation can take you out. You can be condemning yourself.
- 25:37Speaker 5: I know about it. You can be condemning yourself into
- 25:42Speaker 5: hell and the Lord is like, hey, come, come, come here.
- 25:46Speaker 5: I'm not even trying to You're doing the most. When
- 25:49Speaker 5: the Lord is telling you you're doing the most, it's
- 25:52Speaker 5: you might be doing the most.
- 25:54Speaker 2: You might be doing the most.
- 25:55Speaker 5: When you said condemnation and can look the same, you
- 26:05Speaker 5: said why. You said why they can look the same?
- 26:08Speaker 5: I said why they could look the same because you
- 26:11Speaker 5: haven't basically the the idea of it feeling the same.
- 26:17Speaker 5: It's based on your relationship with the Lord. Yeah, that's
- 26:20Speaker 5: what That's what That's what came up. It's also your
- 26:23Speaker 5: relationship and your identity, you know, knowing your identity in Christ,
- 26:28Speaker 5: because it's all in Christ. We can't do none of
- 26:30Speaker 5: it on our own.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Shay.
- 26:31Speaker 5: First off, it's in Christ.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It's in Christ.
- 26:35Speaker 5: So knowing your identity in Christ, in your relationship with
- 26:38Speaker 5: the Lord, you know that that that condemnation, yes, it
- 26:43Speaker 5: is there. It's a real it's a real thing. But
- 26:45Speaker 5: in Christ, as you believe in Christ, that we aren't condemned,
- 26:48Speaker 5: we're just convicted.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:50Speaker 5: And the thing about the conviction is I think there's
- 26:55Speaker 5: a there's a step underneath that, which is the repentance
- 26:58Speaker 5: of it. Come on, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 27:00Speaker 5: convicted of the thing once you repent, repenting is just
- 27:04Speaker 5: you know, Lord, I'm sorry. You know I did do
- 27:07Speaker 5: the thing. Like it's not trying to say that I
- 27:10Speaker 5: did it. Yeah, I did it, and you know, and
- 27:15Speaker 5: now I am turning away from it and go sin.
- 27:17Speaker 5: That's why he said go sit no more. That's that's
- 27:19Speaker 5: the repentance of it. Like, Hey, you did this thing,
- 27:21Speaker 5: but you're forgiving. You're not. You're not being condemned of
- 27:24Speaker 5: this thing. I forgive you. Just don't do just don't
- 27:26Speaker 5: do it again. Just don't do it again. And even
- 27:29Speaker 5: even what you were saying right there about let me
- 27:33Speaker 5: not move too fast, hold up, let me go to
- 27:35Speaker 5: the scripture to support what you just said, because you
- 27:37Speaker 5: just said you was in Romans. So Romans eight started
- 27:40Speaker 5: at the first verse. It says, therefore, there is now
- 27:44Speaker 5: no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law
- 27:48Speaker 5: of the of the Spirit of life, and Christ Jesus
- 27:52Speaker 5: has set set you free from the law and sin
- 27:55Speaker 5: and sining of and death. For what the law could
- 27:58Speaker 5: not do since it was weakened by the flesh. God
- 28:02Speaker 5: did he condemned sin?
- 28:05Speaker 2: Why that's so good.
- 28:06Speaker 5: He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own
- 28:10Speaker 5: son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sinful offering,
- 28:15Speaker 5: of sin offering in order that the law's requirement would
- 28:19Speaker 5: be fulfilled.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And with us who.
- 28:22Speaker 5: Do not walk accordingly according to the flesh, but according
- 28:25Speaker 5: to the spirit. For those who live according to the
- 28:28Speaker 5: flesh have their mindset on things of the flesh, but
- 28:32Speaker 5: those who live according to the spirit have their mindset
- 28:35Speaker 5: on things of the spirit. Okay, And so I love
- 28:39Speaker 5: that part where he says when it says he condemned,
- 28:46Speaker 5: he condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own
- 28:49Speaker 5: son in the likeness of and the likeness of sinful
- 28:51Speaker 5: flesh as a sin offering. And so what that tells
- 28:56Speaker 5: me is the only thing that should feel that should
- 28:59Speaker 5: experience condemnation is the sin itself. Right, he came to
- 29:05Speaker 5: like cast judgment on the thing, not you. I think
- 29:10Speaker 5: that like when we understand that, and that that's what
- 29:14Speaker 5: that says to me. I'm not casting judgment on you.
- 29:18Speaker 5: I'm casting judgment on the thing, because the thing can
- 29:20Speaker 5: come off you like when God says he purifies you, dress,
- 29:25Speaker 5: you reclothe, you rewrope like it's a literal thing. When
- 29:29Speaker 5: Lazarus was was dead, right when Lazarus was dead and
- 29:34Speaker 5: they and and he came out, the first thing the
- 29:38Speaker 5: Lord instructed them to do was to change his clothes
- 29:42Speaker 5: because he wasn't the same person. They wrapped him and
- 29:45Speaker 5: and and and grave clothing. There was a practice to
- 29:48Speaker 5: wrap him in grave clothing. Think about it as sin.
- 29:52Speaker 5: That's why people you'll see people changing how they how
- 29:54Speaker 5: they dress, what they wear.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not saying that.
- 29:58Speaker 5: You know, some of these people like are going to
- 30:01Speaker 5: hell for some of the things that they're doing. Their
- 30:02Speaker 5: conviction has said, you know, I just I just can't
- 30:04Speaker 5: look like this anymore. I just can't be outside like
- 30:06Speaker 5: this anymore.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I can't.
- 30:07Speaker 5: It's certain things I'd be like, ugh, I can't what
- 30:11Speaker 5: it is. I can't do this because my witness is
- 30:15Speaker 5: that I'm a believer. They know me as a church lady.
- 30:17Speaker 5: You get what I'm saying. And so when he says
- 30:20Speaker 5: Lazarus come out, he says daughter come out. He has
- 30:22Speaker 5: son come out. Does a ray come out just to
- 30:24Speaker 5: come out. I'm not gonna come out. I'm gonna come
- 30:28Speaker 5: out in the grave clothes. But you're gonna have to.
- 30:30Speaker 5: It's gonna be a changing. Hey, go change his clothes,
- 30:32Speaker 5: Go change your clothes. Go do this, Go do this,
- 30:34Speaker 5: because now we can throw the sin away and work
- 30:37Speaker 5: on maturing and getting you to the place that God
- 30:40Speaker 5: wants you to be. The promises of God are yes,
- 30:42Speaker 5: and they man for the people that the promises of
- 30:44Speaker 5: God are yes and they man for. Don't expect the
- 30:46Speaker 5: promises of God if you don't want to, if you
- 30:48Speaker 5: are unwilling to be convicted by the Holy Spirit. We
- 30:52Speaker 5: need to be convicted into the promises of God.
- 30:55Speaker 2: We need to be convicted into the love of God.
- 30:57Speaker 2: We need to be convicted.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Conviction is a tool not to destroy us, but to
- 31:03Speaker 5: promote us.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Y'all, come on today.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Conviction is not here to destroy us. It's here to
- 31:09Speaker 5: promote us. Because watch this. The version of you that
- 31:14Speaker 5: was dead, the version of you that didn't understand the
- 31:17Speaker 5: love of God, the version of you could not manage
- 31:20Speaker 5: the promise of God. That promise of God is too
- 31:22Speaker 5: great for you to He is not about to sit
- 31:25Speaker 5: here and pimp himself out just to make you feel good.
- 31:28Speaker 2: This is not that. This is not that. And sometimes
- 31:31Speaker 2: I think that we.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Think that the Holy Spirit has come to play paddy
- 31:36Speaker 5: Cake and Beggar's Man with us. That's not it, that's
- 31:39Speaker 5: not it. We say we want the promise of God.
- 31:41Speaker 5: We say we want experience the Lord on new levels.
- 31:43Speaker 5: We say we want to do this. Then allow the
- 31:46Speaker 5: Holy Spirit to convict you. And watch this. When he
- 31:49Speaker 5: convicts you, how will your response be?
- 31:52Speaker 2: Would? What is your response?
- 31:53Speaker 5: So?
- 31:54Speaker 2: Watch this? Does a rab.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I want to answer the question why I feel condemn Right?
- 32:01Speaker 5: Why do I feel condemned?
- 32:04Speaker 2: Maybe you feel.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Condemned because you just didn't know that it was only
- 32:08Speaker 5: it was only your responsibility to accept the Lord, the
- 32:14Speaker 5: Lord as your savior, Jesus Christ.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Right, let's call salvation entering salvation.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Right, But then once you start walking the process of salvation,
- 32:23Speaker 5: you'll start experiencing things, and it's your responsibility to reject
- 32:27Speaker 5: what God reject what God rejects. Right, you're experiencing condemnation because,
- 32:34Speaker 5: like we've said before, you you're doing relationship, more relationship
- 32:38Speaker 5: with the sin than relationship with God.
- 32:40Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 32:41Speaker 5: What's the difference between being condemned and being convicted is
- 32:44Speaker 5: relationship and then the depths of relationship. There is into
- 32:51Speaker 5: the deep Like that's what I think about that phrase.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Into the deep. God gives us room to just grow
- 32:58Speaker 5: and flourish in Him, but sometimes we step out of
- 33:02Speaker 5: Him to where And I tell you the truth, it's
- 33:05Speaker 5: some Christians that's feeling condemned right now. It's some people
- 33:08Speaker 5: that say they believe in God and have seen the
- 33:10Speaker 5: hand of the Lord that's experiencing condemnation because they step
- 33:15Speaker 5: outside the standards of God. Sorry, not sorry, Sorry not sorry,
- 33:22Speaker 5: because because they're safety in conviction. There's instruction with conviction.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Condemnation don't provide you instruction comedim nations just say hey,
- 33:33Speaker 5: you did wrong, look at what you did. It makes
- 33:36Speaker 5: you feel bad, it makes you experience the bad thing.
- 33:38Speaker 5: But when you're in God and say hey, I know
- 33:40Speaker 5: you did that, but go and send no more.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I know you did that, but I'm here to help
- 33:47Speaker 2: you move forward and do X, Y and Z, that's
- 33:49Speaker 2: what condemnation is.
- 33:50Speaker 5: Watch this relationships. Relationship includes love. Love leads to obedience.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Obedience strengthens your belief the reason why you don't understand
- 34:02Speaker 5: conviction is because you don't have relationship. And when you
- 34:06Speaker 5: don't have a relationship, you don't experience the love of God.
- 34:08Speaker 5: When you don't experience the love of God, you don't
- 34:10Speaker 5: have a willingness to obey. And because you don't know
- 34:13Speaker 5: how tobay obey, you never get to experience the belief.
- 34:18Speaker 5: You never get to experience and see why people believe.
- 34:22Speaker 2: And so I'm I'm encouraging you guys to.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Understand the difference and and really give you yourselves an
- 34:31Speaker 5: opportunity to love God and allow God to love you.
- 34:35Speaker 5: And with that love comes Holy Spirit with his conviction.
- 34:40Speaker 5: It might be something small like, hey, don't eat that
- 34:42Speaker 5: chocolate bar. Don't but I disobey that conviction all the.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Time, all the time, all the time, all the time.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Chocolate for me. No, it's not. It's Edgars, y'all. If
- 34:55Speaker 2: y'all don't, if y'all ever come to Birmingham, Alabama area,
- 34:58Speaker 2: go to Edgars.
- 34:59Speaker 5: Okay, they're not paying me to say this. They just
- 35:02Speaker 5: they just have the anointing of the Holy Spirit in them.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Ca Okay, they are a thriving company, a bakery company.
- 35:10Speaker 2: They're anointing.
- 35:10Speaker 5: They got desserts, cookie cakes, Crak's piet, But anyway, I'll
- 35:14Speaker 5: be convicted.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Of not eating turtles.
- 35:18Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, Like does a ray said
- 35:20Speaker 5: at the beginning, no matter how small the conviction, it's
- 35:24Speaker 5: still it's to help the greater good, which is that
- 35:28Speaker 5: you being the greater good or the earth on your people.
- 35:32Speaker 5: That God is trying to get you attached to your assignment,
- 35:36Speaker 5: that being the greater good. One thing that came up
- 35:40Speaker 5: through this conversation as we talked about the Holy Spirit convicting,
- 35:44Speaker 5: one of the best ways for one of the areas
- 35:47Speaker 5: that he convicts us in is in the area of forgiveness, right,
- 35:58Speaker 5: And we tend sometimes not to obey that conviction because
- 36:03Speaker 5: we were wronged, right, And He understands that, yes, you
- 36:10Speaker 5: were wronged, Yes something bad happened to you. Yes they
- 36:13Speaker 5: shouldn't have done X, Y, and Z, But the forgiveness
- 36:16Speaker 5: isn't for them. The conviction to forgive is really for you,
- 36:21Speaker 5: because what begins to happen as you don't forgive those Literally,
- 36:29Speaker 5: He's not gonna forgive us. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 36:32Speaker 5: we want the Lord to forgive us. We want to
- 36:34Speaker 5: walk into blessings and all these things. The Bible says,
- 36:38Speaker 5: forgive others as I have forgiven you, and unforgiveness. When
- 36:43Speaker 5: we begin to walk in unforgiveness, it's just a domino effect,
- 36:47Speaker 5: Like we're wondering why so many people are walking around
- 36:49Speaker 5: with sicknesses, illnesses, diseases. You know what I'm saying. Some
- 36:55Speaker 5: of this is spiritual, lot of spiritual. So that conviction
- 37:01Speaker 5: of the Holy Spirit. Yes, yes, he knows what happened, right,
- 37:07Speaker 5: but also he loves us enough to try to help
- 37:10Speaker 5: us help ourselves. And we just have to believe, like
- 37:14Speaker 5: like when you say vengeance, shelled me mind, Like.
- 37:17Speaker 2: People can't do.
- 37:19Speaker 5: People think that they can do what they want to
- 37:21Speaker 5: people and and nothing's gonna happen. The Lord is a
- 37:28Speaker 5: reward of all things. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:31Speaker 5: And so that's the biggest thing. Like when you when
- 37:33Speaker 5: you feel that conviction and for forgiving, saying I forgave,
- 37:37Speaker 5: but I'm not going to forget. That's not full forgiveness.
- 37:41Speaker 5: A lot of us say those say it because we
- 37:46Speaker 5: it's not a full release, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:49Speaker 5: So that's the biggest thing that I think that keeps us, stuck, stagnant, delayed.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Is the spirit of unforgiveness. Yeah, so Holy Spirit is
- 37:58Speaker 5: definitely a convictor of all. I just don't eat that.
- 38:02Speaker 5: Don't say that, but forgive, but forgive I agree. I
- 38:06Speaker 5: agree with you on that.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Does a ray? I agree with you on that.
- 38:10Speaker 5: And with that being noted, if there's a convision to forgive,
- 38:15Speaker 5: you might want to forgive them. So because what you
- 38:18Speaker 5: don't know what the Lord is trying to not just
- 38:20Speaker 5: do with your heart, but with others hearts. And so listen,
- 38:24Speaker 5: if this register resonated with you, if you like Dog Jessica,
- 38:28Speaker 5: does a ray like Adam, I am living in condemnation.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Listen you free from that. Just believe your freedom, your belief.
- 38:39Speaker 5: Here she is talking and she is not on my spirit.
