- 0:30Speaker 3: Hello, it is Friday, July seventeenth, here at Breaking Points Fridays.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Uh oh, it's me and Emily. Emily, how are you.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Goovn You're doing the Sager thing where you scream at
- 0:42Speaker 4: the beginning of the show, which the people love, so
- 0:45Speaker 4: if it's.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Working, go for it.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I was screaming all last night at the TV when
- 0:50Speaker 3: we're watching that beautiful, that beautiful Trump speech. Sorry, the
- 0:54Speaker 3: rest of the Friday host they had a Taco Bell
- 0:57Speaker 3: party without us, and so it's just us here today.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Be much more likely to be the other way around
- 1:03Speaker 5: to be fair.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know what, we're more Del Taco, aren't we.
- 1:07Speaker 3: We're Del Taco conservatives. So you know, never once have
- 1:10Speaker 3: I had Del Taco. I'm ashamed to say, wow, tried
- 1:14Speaker 3: their cheeseburger. But anyways, we've got quite a that's my
- 1:17Speaker 3: order at Del Taco. We've got quite a show today.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Setting aside the fast food anomalies, Trump gave a riveting
- 1:24Speaker 3: speech that saved democracy in the nation. We're going to
- 1:28Speaker 3: get into that with Shelby Talcott from Semaphore in just
- 1:31Speaker 3: a minute. We also have some high tea testosterone directives
- 1:37Speaker 3: from Pete Hegseth. Got some more strikes in Iran with
- 1:41Speaker 3: the US and Iran trading strikes over control of the Strait,
- 1:47Speaker 3: and what else do we have? Oh, we might get
- 1:49Speaker 3: into a little bit of Biden towards the end. But wow, Emily,
- 1:53Speaker 3: we stayed up last night to cover Trump's big speech.
- 1:58Speaker 3: His big announcement, which essentially correct me if I'm wrong,
- 2:02Speaker 3: was that the election was stolen by in twenty twenty
- 2:07Speaker 3: by China.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Well he was a little more.
- 2:12Speaker 4: For example, in playbook this morning, you could sense Politico's playbook.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You could sense his aids breathing a sigh of relief
- 2:18Speaker 4: because they didn't know how much he would be riffing
- 2:20Speaker 4: and how much he would stick to the carefully constructed script.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And Shelby can tell us more about this, but.
- 2:26Speaker 4: I think it was probably restrained, a restrained version of Trump,
- 2:30Speaker 4: still though, arguing there was a vast international conspiracy to
- 2:35Speaker 4: tamper with American elections starting in twenty twenty. He talks
- 2:39Speaker 4: about how Maduro sought to change vote vote tallies in Venezuela.
- 2:45Speaker 5: That was one of his big points. It was not
- 2:46Speaker 5: about the United States.
- 2:47Speaker 4: It was supposed to kind of augment his point about
- 2:50Speaker 4: how these electronic voting machines can be tampered with, and
- 2:53Speaker 4: his argument was that Maduro had tried to do it.
- 2:56Speaker 4: His argument then was also that China had tried to
- 3:00Speaker 4: interfere on behalf of Joe Biden in twenty twenty, and
- 3:02Speaker 4: that the FBI slow walked by the way, if they
- 3:06Speaker 4: were doing that in twenty twenty, it would have been
- 3:07Speaker 4: under Donald Trump's first administration, But anyway, that the FBI
- 3:11Speaker 4: slow walked an investigation into Michigan Democrats trying to have
- 3:17Speaker 4: some type of voter interference scheme, he said the CIA,
- 3:21Speaker 4: or he said the deep state tried to cover up
- 3:24Speaker 4: China's election interference, and immediately dumped a bunch of documents.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Like Griffin, I went.
- 3:29Speaker 4: To the White House website as the speech was happening,
- 3:31Speaker 4: and there were zip files on the website. They created
- 3:36Speaker 4: a website for the speech, and there were four points,
- 3:40Speaker 4: and every single one of them came with its own
- 3:43Speaker 4: zip batch of documents which people have been piecing through.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Some are rather amusing, some are a bit more serious.
- 3:51Speaker 4: But he's trying to create this idea that there is
- 3:54Speaker 4: some vast international conspiracy that the American deep state and
- 3:59Speaker 4: the media is in on to hurt him at the
- 4:03Speaker 4: ballot box, and that elections are insecure. And he did
- 4:05Speaker 4: a big plug for the Save America Act, of course,
- 4:08Speaker 4: at the end of the speech. So my read on
- 4:11Speaker 4: it is that just politically, you have a president who
- 4:14Speaker 4: is his frustration is clearly boiling over and Griffin. On
- 4:19Speaker 4: a production level, you rarely see such an l from Trump,
- 4:24Speaker 4: like the staging was off. And why am I mentioning that,
- 4:28Speaker 4: because again, I think it just speaks to him being
- 4:32Speaker 4: beyond frustrated and starting to spiral a bit like inflation
- 4:37Speaker 4: is really stubborn because of the Iran War in some
- 4:40Speaker 4: sense because of the Iran War. Obviously, the Iran War
- 4:43Speaker 4: has been intractable for him, stubborn, dare is say, And
- 4:47Speaker 4: his numbers are showing it, and clearly he's frustrated. Plus
- 4:51Speaker 4: he can't get Congress to pass his signature piece of legislation,
- 4:55Speaker 4: so it felt like he was frustrated. You joked before
- 4:58Speaker 4: we came on air that it was it was giving
- 5:02Speaker 4: Joe Brandon.
- 5:03Speaker 3: It was in real time, Yeah, it was.
- 5:06Speaker 5: It was giving Brandon a little bit.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Like the lighting was really harsh, the mic was so hot,
- 5:12Speaker 4: like it made him sound really hoarse, and it made
- 5:15Speaker 4: him sound just weird. And the stage was off kilter,
- 5:19Speaker 4: like you had this gold curtain covering most of the backdrop.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Yet you can see it here, it's not in this clip.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I think Fox zoomed in on the shot. I was
- 5:27Speaker 4: watching it on the White House feed, and the White
- 5:29Speaker 4: House feed you you got the white wall behind it,
- 5:32Speaker 4: so it was off center.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Oh so, anyway, let's tick a list here.
- 5:35Speaker 3: That's probably the biggest crime YEP.
- 5:37Speaker 6: And these government strategy against the United States was focused
- 5:41Speaker 6: on undermining domestic confidence in the US president. They wanted
- 5:45Speaker 6: to just make you sound like your president wasn't so hot. Actually,
- 5:50Speaker 6: your president has done a great job, and they did
- 5:54Speaker 6: everything possible to do exactly that.
- 5:57Speaker 3: China was trying to make him not hot when he
- 6:00Speaker 3: is very much hot. Yeah, this was so boring, I
- 6:03Speaker 3: have to say, just incredibly boring. And you know, you
- 6:07Speaker 3: went to the website. I went to the website when
- 6:09Speaker 3: he'd ound it, and it was very Obamacare because it
- 6:11Speaker 3: said temporarily shut down. The website was not active when
- 6:15Speaker 3: he first mentioned it. He mentioned quite a few websites too. Actually,
- 6:19Speaker 3: but yeah, we're supposed to go to a website and
- 6:20Speaker 3: learn it all. And I guess we'll get in more
- 6:23Speaker 3: to this with Shelby. But I didn't see anything in
- 6:26Speaker 3: these documents that actually ascertained his claims at all.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Did you my quick Well, so my quick read on
- 6:34Speaker 4: it is that there's probably a kernel truth in a
- 6:36Speaker 4: couple of things, like, for example, we do know that
- 6:39Speaker 4: from Peter Struck to whomever else, there were people inside
- 6:42Speaker 4: of the FBI and the CIA, like the CIA was
- 6:45Speaker 4: organizing signatures for that fifty one former intelligence agent's letter
- 6:50Speaker 4: that got leaked to Natasha bertrand dot Politico saying the
- 6:52Speaker 4: Hunterrebreddon laptop was fake. So obviously there were people who
- 6:56Speaker 4: were using their like intel positions to undermine Trump, and
- 6:59Speaker 4: that happened during his first presidency. So it wouldn't be
- 7:02Speaker 4: insane to me if the Presidential Daily Briefing memos that
- 7:05Speaker 4: he released, which are highly redacted, so I don't think
- 7:07Speaker 4: they're conclusive at all, But if those were reflective of
- 7:10Speaker 4: some real effort to keep intel about Chinese election interference
- 7:15Speaker 4: away from him, okay, wouldn't surprise me if that had happened,
- 7:18Speaker 4: And it also wouldn't surprise me, like the stuff about
- 7:21Speaker 4: the Michigan voter registration thing wouldn't surprise me. We saw
- 7:25Speaker 4: that happening in weird ways in twenty twenty across the country,
- 7:28Speaker 4: but that doesn't amount to a vast international conspiracy to
- 7:31Speaker 4: install Joe Biden into office. So the scale and scope
- 7:35Speaker 4: of it, I think are the big question, is what
- 7:39Speaker 4: I would say. So I think we should bring in
- 7:41Speaker 4: Shelby to tell us how people inside of the White
- 7:43Speaker 4: House are reacting to this.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Shall we talk out of semaphore? It joins us.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Now, thank you Shelby for being here and for staying
- 7:50Speaker 4: up late to cover the speech last night, so that
- 7:52Speaker 4: you could cover it, of course for.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Your own publication, but also here on breaking.
- 7:55Speaker 7: Points more importantly for breaking points.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yes, yes, sorry, Ben, But let's get into the reaction
- 8:04Speaker 4: I've seen so far, some of the kind of Beltway
- 8:08Speaker 4: rags as we call them in the biz, Shelby saying
- 8:11Speaker 4: that the White House is breathing a little bit of
- 8:12Speaker 4: a sigh of relief right now because people didn't know
- 8:15Speaker 4: to what extent Trump would be riffing in his big
- 8:19Speaker 4: primetime address last night.
- 8:20Speaker 5: It looks like he's stuck pretty closely to the script.
- 8:23Speaker 5: But I don't know.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Can you give us what you're hearing from your sources
- 8:28Speaker 4: about what the expectation for the speech was, and then
- 8:31Speaker 4: the reaction to the reality.
- 8:33Speaker 8: So Republicans writ large, I think we're really nervous ahead
- 8:37Speaker 8: of this speech because, as we know, the President has
- 8:40Speaker 8: been focused for years on the twenty twenty election. We're
- 8:43Speaker 8: getting into the midterms. There was a real concern that
- 8:48Speaker 8: if the President came up last night and said the
- 8:51Speaker 8: twenty twenty election was stolen, YadA, YadA, YadA, that that was.
- 8:54Speaker 7: Going to really set them back.
- 8:56Speaker 8: And so I actually think for a lot of Republican lawmaker,
- 9:00Speaker 8: this speech could have gone a lot worse. He did
- 9:04Speaker 8: really stick to the script, you know. John Solomon told
- 9:07Speaker 8: reporters afterwards at the White House that every single word
- 9:11Speaker 8: of this was reviewed by the CIA, So the administration
- 9:15Speaker 8: was taking sort of the legal aspect of this, I
- 9:17Speaker 8: think pretty seriously. And it's notable that the President didn't
- 9:22Speaker 8: go off script, because I mean, this is maybe the
- 9:25Speaker 8: first the third time ever of it he has stayed
- 9:29Speaker 8: on script, and so that's really unusual and I think
- 9:32Speaker 8: speaks to just kind of how focused the administration was
- 9:36Speaker 8: on what they can say and what they can't say.
- 9:40Speaker 3: So what were the big takeaways? Because from my layman's experience,
- 9:44Speaker 3: it seemed like he was insisting that China in some
- 9:47Speaker 3: way affected the twenty twenty election. But then the documents
- 9:51Speaker 3: revealed on the website, according to multiple alets, don't really
- 9:55Speaker 3: say that. What do these documents posted on the website
- 9:59Speaker 3: actually say.
- 10:00Speaker 8: Yeah, So there were several documents, and I think the
- 10:02Speaker 8: big takeaway for me is that, you know, when you
- 10:06Speaker 8: heard the president's speech, he was sort of I think
- 10:08Speaker 8: insinuating a lot more than the actual documents say. So
- 10:12Speaker 8: the documents do do note this sort of push from China, but.
- 10:18Speaker 7: We've also known that for a really long time.
- 10:20Speaker 8: The administration knew that during the first term, like that
- 10:23Speaker 8: wasn't necessarily new, and they didn't go so far as
- 10:26Speaker 8: to say China did affect the twenty twenty election, right.
- 10:30Speaker 8: And then there was the Venezuela aspect, which I thought
- 10:32Speaker 8: was really interesting, where the President was talking about this
- 10:35Speaker 8: alleged plot by the Maduro regime to influence Venezuelan elections
- 10:41Speaker 8: and the Trump administration believes that that has sort of
- 10:45Speaker 8: vulnerabilities for the US elections. But again, the actual documents
- 10:50Speaker 8: that the administration posted don't necessarily back that up.
- 10:54Speaker 7: They don't go as far as the president was going.
- 10:56Speaker 8: And so for me, the takeaway was that the president
- 11:00Speaker 8: sees a lot of these documents as sort of proof
- 11:05Speaker 8: of his twenty twenty stolen election claims, but the actual
- 11:09Speaker 8: documents don't go as far as the president is going.
- 11:13Speaker 8: But what I also thought was really interesting from the
- 11:15Speaker 8: actual speech is we've heard Trump directly say the twenty
- 11:20Speaker 8: twenty election was stolen, et cetera four years now, and
- 11:23Speaker 8: I thought he was much more couched in his analysis,
- 11:27Speaker 8: and you could see how the administration was trying to
- 11:29Speaker 8: frame this as this is all about looking forward, this
- 11:32Speaker 8: is all about election integrity, even as all the documents
- 11:35Speaker 8: that were being released we're talking about past elections.
- 11:40Speaker 3: And specifically on that timeline. Emily before we I just
- 11:42Speaker 3: have one more follow up on this. So China, according
- 11:46Speaker 3: to Trump, not these documents, China steals the election in
- 11:49Speaker 3: twenty twenty. But then now that they've accessed and are
- 11:53Speaker 3: successfully hacking our elections and they allowed Biden to win,
- 11:59Speaker 3: So what is the But then they allowed Trump to
- 12:02Speaker 3: win again in twenty twenty four, So what's the logic there?
- 12:06Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 12:06Speaker 8: I think that that's an example of sort of the
- 12:09Speaker 8: president looking at maybe one specific aspect and coming to
- 12:13Speaker 8: a conclusion that the documents don't necessarily conclude, and then
- 12:18Speaker 8: kind of just ignoring the rest in his mind, you
- 12:21Speaker 8: know what I mean.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Yeah, And that does appear like what it's looking like
- 12:27Speaker 4: to me so far as is a question of scale
- 12:29Speaker 4: that he wants to allege. There's this vast international conspiracy
- 12:33Speaker 4: and what the document show is probably some modest attempts
- 12:38Speaker 4: that aren't entirely surprising to the intelligence world. And there's
- 12:41Speaker 4: this DHS review we should talk about as well. Trump
- 12:45Speaker 4: says his Department of Homeland Security did a big review
- 12:47Speaker 4: of voter registration rules and found I think it was
- 12:51Speaker 4: like two hundred and seventy eight thousand non citizens had
- 12:54Speaker 4: been registered to vote in California, New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
- 12:59Speaker 5: The states are already pushing back on that.
- 13:01Speaker 4: But Griffin, I want to see if we could just
- 13:02Speaker 4: roll some tape here, a couple of the clips, let's
- 13:06Speaker 4: go with.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Let's go with the Vote's clip here.
- 13:09Speaker 6: Put together, these disclosers reveal an election system so broken
- 13:14Speaker 6: and so vulnerable that no one can possibly defend it.
- 13:18Speaker 5: It is not defensible, Okay.
- 13:21Speaker 4: And let's also, then, Griffin, play the Venezuela clip, just
- 13:24Speaker 4: so folks get a taste of what was happening.
- 13:26Speaker 5: At one point, Shlby, he blamed, the media will get it.
- 13:28Speaker 6: People question whether it could actually be possible to electronically
- 13:33Speaker 6: manipulate vote totals or change election results on these terrible machines.
- 13:39Speaker 6: Today we are releasing documents that show the CIA obtained
- 13:43Speaker 6: reporting of a specific plot to do a big number
- 13:48Speaker 6: in favor of the corrupt Maduro regime in Venezuela. And
- 13:54Speaker 6: that's exactly what happened, conspiring to digitally rig their own countries'
- 14:00Speaker 6: elections in twenty twenty, and that's.
- 14:02Speaker 3: What they did.
- 14:03Speaker 6: This reporting included precise details about methods to regime develop
- 14:10Speaker 6: to digitally alter vote totals and ways that could not
- 14:14Speaker 6: be detected even with an audit.
- 14:16Speaker 3: No matter how deep they went.
- 14:19Speaker 6: This intelligence underscores why we must take urgent action to
- 14:23Speaker 6: ensure that our own system can never ever be hacked
- 14:27Speaker 6: or compromised like it was in the past. The fourth
- 14:31Speaker 6: set of doctors.
- 14:32Speaker 4: So that's really interesting the way he finished the last
- 14:35Speaker 4: point there shell be because it's obviously giving Rudy Giuliani
- 14:38Speaker 4: and Sidney Powell, but he's very much different. He's much
- 14:43Speaker 4: more restrained obviously than they were. But in this big
- 14:46Speaker 4: speech he's talking about I mean, I think he might
- 14:48Speaker 4: have even started with this point about how it was
- 14:51Speaker 4: proven by Maduro allegedly that you could tap into the
- 14:55Speaker 4: electronic voting machines, which is that he was changing the
- 15:00Speaker 4: MAMDUA was trying to change vote tallies electronically, and Trump
- 15:03Speaker 4: at the very end there said it's been proven that
- 15:06Speaker 4: it can happen, and then he very carefully says, you know,
- 15:09Speaker 4: we know our elections have been corrupted, So is this
- 15:12Speaker 4: an effort to kind of walk the line between the
- 15:15Speaker 4: twenty twenty wildness and what our intelligence actually shows. Is
- 15:20Speaker 4: any of this from Maduro possibly now that he's been
- 15:23Speaker 4: imprisoned in the Southern District of New York, there have
- 15:25Speaker 4: been conversations about or Delsa Rodriguez obviously, who is now
- 15:28Speaker 4: basically the being told what to do by Secretary of
- 15:32Speaker 4: Rubio per reporting like that's a that seemed like maybe
- 15:36Speaker 4: the riskiest part of the speech.
- 15:38Speaker 8: Yeah, And I think that this is my understanding, is
- 15:41Speaker 8: that this came from sort of a CIA discovery, not
- 15:44Speaker 8: necessarily as trum Madurero himself post arrest. Of course, I'm
- 15:49Speaker 8: sure that they're talking to Maduro and maybe we'll learn more,
- 15:52Speaker 8: and I'm sure that they have asked him about this
- 15:55Speaker 8: because Trump is so focused on it. But I did
- 15:58Speaker 8: think that that length which that he used was really interesting,
- 16:02Speaker 8: and I think it just goes back to my earlier
- 16:04Speaker 8: point of this was.
- 16:06Speaker 7: A very carefully reviewed speech.
- 16:08Speaker 8: And I remember talking to Trump administration officials when they
- 16:11Speaker 8: were on the campaign trail, and they were a lot
- 16:13Speaker 8: of them sort of understood that they weren't going to
- 16:16Speaker 8: be able to get Trump to stop focusing on the
- 16:19Speaker 8: twenty twenty election, but hoped that he would. And so
- 16:22Speaker 8: there has been sort of this year's long acknowledgment among
- 16:26Speaker 8: at least some of the administration officials that this is
- 16:29Speaker 8: not necessarily the best thing for the president to focus on,
- 16:33Speaker 8: but we can't get him to not focus on it,
- 16:35Speaker 8: so let's try to figure out a way to work
- 16:38Speaker 8: around it. And I think this is sort of the
- 16:40Speaker 8: first time that you're seeing that they've actually been able
- 16:43Speaker 8: to get him to kind of walk around the twenty
- 16:50Speaker 8: twenty stolen election claims instead of, you know, hurtling straight
- 16:53Speaker 8: through it.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Okay, so it's kind of like a participation trophy that
- 16:57Speaker 3: he's getting here. That's nice. He'll also talk about the
- 17:00Speaker 3: Save Act? Can we ask can we talk about the
- 17:01Speaker 3: Save Act for a second here? He mentioned that quite
- 17:05Speaker 3: a few times, and you know, that's to you know,
- 17:08Speaker 3: secure our elections ahead of the midterms. But kind of
- 17:11Speaker 3: feels like the midterms are already here, that if they
- 17:14Speaker 3: even passed this Save Act, it would probably not be
- 17:18Speaker 3: implemented in time for the midterms. How is he thinking
- 17:21Speaker 3: about all of that, and our Republicans like hoping that
- 17:25Speaker 3: he also kind of drops that, and what's the popularity
- 17:29Speaker 3: amongst the GOP in terms of this Save Act.
- 17:33Speaker 8: Republicans are past the point I think of hoping that
- 17:36Speaker 8: he's going to drop it, because he very clearly isn't.
- 17:39Speaker 7: And this for people.
- 17:40Speaker 8: Who don't know, The Save Act has been a focus
- 17:43Speaker 8: of the presidents for a few months now, and he's
- 17:47Speaker 8: actually held up other legislation, bipartisan legislation, in order to
- 17:52Speaker 8: try to get it passed. And so this is something
- 17:54Speaker 8: that he has been sort of acutely, acutely focused on,
- 17:58Speaker 8: regardless of the fact that lawmakers have come to him
- 18:01Speaker 8: and said, we don't have the votes to be able
- 18:03Speaker 8: to do this. And so ostensibly I think that this
- 18:06Speaker 8: speech was an effort to get Republicans to pass the
- 18:11Speaker 8: Save Act, because the president's thinking was, I'm going to
- 18:14Speaker 8: present all of this evidence to show that our elections
- 18:18Speaker 8: allegedly aren't secure enough, and that will change some of
- 18:22Speaker 8: these lawmakers' minds, and then this piece of legislation that I.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Want will get past.
- 18:28Speaker 8: That was sort of the whole background reasoning behind this
- 18:31Speaker 8: primetime address.
- 18:33Speaker 7: I don't know that it's going to work right.
- 18:35Speaker 8: We talked to a lot of Republicans beforehand, we talked
- 18:38Speaker 8: to republicans afterwards. I think people are pretty set in
- 18:41Speaker 8: their beliefs at this point about the Save Act, and
- 18:45Speaker 8: there's no path right now to breaking a filibuster in
- 18:48Speaker 8: the Senate either, which the President has called for.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Well and Shelby, I'm sure you saw this Daily Call
- 18:53Speaker 4: report at the time that John Throun, in a closed
- 18:56Speaker 4: door meeting of Senate Republicans basically said in multiple sources
- 19:01Speaker 4: that there are some senators who just hate Trump so
- 19:04Speaker 4: much that they will refuse to support to Save America Act.
- 19:07Speaker 4: And the reason I put this up on the screen
- 19:08Speaker 4: is that I'm curious for your take on the genesis
- 19:11Speaker 4: of this speech, Like, is this something that is rooted
- 19:16Speaker 4: in Trump's frustrations with Senate Republicans about the Save Act?
- 19:19Speaker 4: Is this him genuinely concerned about the midterm elections, which
- 19:23Speaker 4: he's also said he doesn't care about and he's not
- 19:25Speaker 4: on the ballot, So is this him trying to claw
- 19:30Speaker 4: his way out of where the numbers have gone over
- 19:33Speaker 4: the course of the Iran war. Gas price is still
- 19:35Speaker 4: hanging pretty high, could go higher because the MoU blew up, basically, like.
- 19:41Speaker 5: What was this coming from.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Why did this have to happen last night, Why did
- 19:45Speaker 4: he decide to make it a primetime address? What was
- 19:48Speaker 4: the thinking as best as you can tell, behind it.
- 19:51Speaker 8: So the big reason why it's happening now, I will say,
- 19:55Speaker 8: is because the President appointed Acting Director of National Intelligence
- 19:59Speaker 8: Bill a few weeks ago, and one of his directives
- 20:03Speaker 8: from the President.
- 20:04Speaker 7: Was, I want you to go in there.
- 20:05Speaker 8: I want you to declassify all of this stuff from
- 20:09Speaker 8: past elections regarding election integrity. And so that was a
- 20:14Speaker 8: direct directive for Bill Poulty, and so he went in
- 20:17Speaker 8: and on day one started trying to do that.
- 20:19Speaker 7: And so that's I think the timeline.
- 20:22Speaker 8: Wise why you're seeing it all of a sudden, sort
- 20:24Speaker 8: of seemingly randomly come up. But I also think that
- 20:29Speaker 8: the president thinking on this is he wants to pass
- 20:32Speaker 8: the Save America Act first and foremost, and I think
- 20:35Speaker 8: it's less about the midterms, which he has grown to
- 20:39Speaker 8: care about more than he did a few months ago,
- 20:44Speaker 8: and more about his focus.
- 20:47Speaker 7: His continued focus on the twenty twenty election.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Interesting what signals that he is caring more about the
- 20:58Speaker 3: mid terms now? I mean he's been quite rambunctious with
- 21:02Speaker 3: this Iran war and that that seems to not be
- 21:05Speaker 3: going well, the economy, gas prices. What was the moment
- 21:09Speaker 3: that signaled to you that he's actually cared or worried
- 21:12Speaker 3: about the midterms.
- 21:13Speaker 8: Now, I get that sense from people who are close
- 21:16Speaker 8: to him inside and outside the administration, who have admitted
- 21:19Speaker 8: to me in prior months that he is not as
- 21:22Speaker 8: focused as they would like him to be on the midterms.
- 21:25Speaker 8: And so they have argued that they've seen a little
- 21:29Speaker 8: bit of a shift, And I say a little bit.
- 21:30Speaker 8: It's not like he is that is the only focus
- 21:34Speaker 8: focused on right He's still very much focused on his legacy.
- 21:37Speaker 8: He's still very much focused on foreign policy, despite lawmakers
- 21:40Speaker 8: urging him to just ignore all of that and talk
- 21:43Speaker 8: about the economy and try to get gas prices down.
- 21:46Speaker 8: But I think that they have They sense that over
- 21:51Speaker 8: the past few months he's had some wins and that
- 21:54Speaker 8: has gotten him more interested in the midterms than he
- 21:59Speaker 8: was prior. I think originally his thinking was, and he
- 22:03Speaker 8: said this out loud, was well, you know, every time
- 22:06Speaker 8: if a Republican is in office, we do poorly in
- 22:09Speaker 8: the midterms. Democrat is in office, they do poorly in
- 22:11Speaker 8: the midterms, so he was kind of like, what's the point?
- 22:15Speaker 8: And I think that the advisors close to him who
- 22:17Speaker 8: care really a lot about the midterms have been able
- 22:20Speaker 8: to convince him at least a little bit that it
- 22:24Speaker 8: is actually important.
- 22:26Speaker 4: And Shelby, finally he implicated NBC and I think ABC
- 22:29Speaker 4: News in some plot and threatened to revoke their licenses,
- 22:33Speaker 4: or at least he said they should have their licenses,
- 22:36Speaker 4: because they did at one point and right at one point,
- 22:39Speaker 4: by the way, or I should say overall, it did
- 22:41Speaker 4: seem like the speech was a bit low energy, and
- 22:44Speaker 4: it did feel kind of off kilter for a man
- 22:48Speaker 4: like Trump that, like love him or hate him, his
- 22:50Speaker 4: skill is television. He schedules his primetime address, and it
- 22:53Speaker 4: just felt weird for Trump, but that we shouldn't downplay.
- 22:57Speaker 4: I guess the severity of what he was alleging and
- 23:00Speaker 4: the directions he did go in at certain points talking
- 23:03Speaker 4: about potentially revoking media licenses. It's the threat that he's
- 23:05Speaker 4: made over the last ten years. But Shelby, why are
- 23:09Speaker 4: you complicit in this? And why do you hate America?
- 23:12Speaker 3: You know, right? Question?
- 23:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm trying to get out of here.
- 23:17Speaker 5: L this Y, No, we will not do that.
- 23:22Speaker 4: But how serious was that moment and is that also
- 23:25Speaker 4: reflecting anything? I guess it's probably not new. He's been
- 23:28Speaker 4: doing this over the last ten years, but I don't know.
- 23:30Speaker 4: To me, he just seemed really frustrated, more so than
- 23:34Speaker 4: usual in that speech lesson.
- 23:35Speaker 8: Yeah, it's not new, but also this term you have
- 23:38Speaker 8: seen him actually act on some of these threats against
- 23:42Speaker 8: media companies and against media individuals. So I would take
- 23:45Speaker 8: it pretty seriously because this is something that he has
- 23:48Speaker 8: grown increasingly frustrated about. As much as he has this
- 23:52Speaker 8: sort of relationship with the press where he'll answer our
- 23:54Speaker 8: calls and he'll you know, attacker reporter and then talk
- 23:59Speaker 8: to them in private and act like nothing's wrong, he
- 24:04Speaker 8: has grown really really frustrated overall with the media.
- 24:09Speaker 7: And you've seen that.
- 24:10Speaker 8: You've seen that in how he has directed the DOJ
- 24:13Speaker 8: to go after reporters. You've seen that in the way
- 24:15Speaker 8: that Brendan Carr is operating on that side of things.
- 24:20Speaker 8: And so I would take that threat seriously. And I
- 24:24Speaker 8: do think that there is a growing frustration from him
- 24:28Speaker 8: because he feels like nobody is taking these claims seriously.
- 24:34Speaker 8: That really, he's one of the only people that is
- 24:37Speaker 8: still focused on it.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Well, so it's very lonely at the top. And I'm
- 24:42Speaker 3: speaking of media companies not taking it seriously. Box News
- 24:45Speaker 3: was very very careful in their reporting of this speech.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I think they're still feeling the sting of the dominion lawsuits,
- 24:53Speaker 3: you know. I think they hear election integrity and they
- 24:55Speaker 3: feel trauma, trauma triggers from that. So Box News, I
- 25:00Speaker 3: don't know if you've caught any of their coverage, but
- 25:02Speaker 3: they were very very careful to say that even they
- 25:05Speaker 3: cannot confirm any of the allegations in the speech or
- 25:08Speaker 3: reaction to.
- 25:09Speaker 8: That, it doesn't surprise me after the lawsuit, and I
- 25:15Speaker 8: think that's the reason why a lot of the networks
- 25:18Speaker 8: were reluctant to air it live, because you knew that
- 25:20Speaker 8: it was going to be about elections, and you just
- 25:24Speaker 8: don't know what the president is going to say, and
- 25:26Speaker 8: he does have a track record of saying things that
- 25:29Speaker 8: aren't backed up by the information that we have, and
- 25:34Speaker 8: so I think a lot of the networks took this
- 25:36Speaker 8: as a precaution. I'm sure that they talked to their
- 25:39Speaker 8: lawyers who said, listen, this is just not worth. It
- 25:42Speaker 8: will air portions of it after the fact, we'll talk
- 25:44Speaker 8: about it, et cetera. But Fox is in an interesting position,
- 25:48Speaker 8: right because they are a conservative leading news outlet that
- 25:52Speaker 8: the president watches a lot.
- 25:54Speaker 7: But I thought it was really.
- 25:56Speaker 8: Telling that they were so careful in how they were
- 26:00Speaker 8: describing his allegations and noting that they were not able
- 26:05Speaker 8: to independently verify it.
- 26:07Speaker 7: That is that came straight from the lawyers, I'm sure.
- 26:10Speaker 3: And finally meant, oh, sorry, go for it.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Go for it, Griffin.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I was just gonna say. Emily also mentioned that he
- 26:17Speaker 3: was off kilter, but that's because he didn't have his
- 26:19Speaker 3: favorite teleprompter operator.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Noah, Yeah, possibly, this is what I was gonna say.
- 26:25Speaker 5: I I'm finiking a new guy.
- 26:28Speaker 7: That it will go for a time.
- 26:30Speaker 4: So, so this teleprompter operator who has now been implicated
- 26:33Speaker 4: in a Calshi trading situation and they're trying to maybe
- 26:38Speaker 4: get like a settlement where he just says he won't
- 26:40Speaker 4: do it again and pays restitution.
- 26:41Speaker 5: He'd been with Trump for what ten years, Shelby.
- 26:44Speaker 4: So you can you can tell us now he had
- 26:46Speaker 4: a new guy doing the prompter last night.
- 26:48Speaker 8: Yeah, So Caroline Levitt confirmed that the individual who was
- 26:53Speaker 8: the subject of this investigation, who was placing bets, and
- 26:58Speaker 8: I think he got like a hund one thousand dollars,
- 27:01Speaker 8: which I don't know if that's worth ruining your entire
- 27:06Speaker 8: life over.
- 27:07Speaker 7: That's the question for another day.
- 27:09Speaker 8: She confirmed that he is on unpaid administrative leaves and
- 27:13Speaker 8: so he was not operating the teleprompter last night.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Well, the clips that we've shown so far, this has
- 27:19Speaker 4: absolutely nothing to do with anything. But the clips that
- 27:22Speaker 4: we shown so far were zoomed in by the networks.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I think we were showing Fox clips and what you
- 27:26Speaker 4: saw on the White House feed was different.
- 27:28Speaker 5: It was completely off center.
- 27:30Speaker 4: And it's got to be nice at the end, Yes,
- 27:33Speaker 4: and Shelby, It's just again, it's a small thing.
- 27:35Speaker 5: It means absolutely nothing.
- 27:36Speaker 3: You care.
- 27:39Speaker 4: I'm just saying for Trump, that's weird, Like he never
- 27:42Speaker 4: lets that stuff happens.
- 27:44Speaker 8: It is really interesting because, as we all know, Trump
- 27:47Speaker 8: is a performer at heart. He did television for years,
- 27:52Speaker 8: and over the years people have talked about how obsessed
- 27:56Speaker 8: he is with how things look. If he talks about
- 28:00Speaker 8: his administration officials being out of central casting, he likes
- 28:05Speaker 8: how people look. He will sit down before an interview,
- 28:09Speaker 8: and there's clips of him out there. There'll be there'll
- 28:12Speaker 8: be a water next to him, and he'll say, no, no,
- 28:14Speaker 8: let's put this on this side. And then he'll say, okay,
- 28:16Speaker 8: let's move it back.
- 28:18Speaker 4: He knows down to the lighting like he actually will
- 28:20Speaker 4: control the lighting. He'll say the lighting should be like this,
- 28:23Speaker 4: let like and you should have it on this number
- 28:25Speaker 4: this warmth, Like he actually is that detailed us.
- 28:27Speaker 8: He saw him at the recent he recently was interviewed
- 28:31Speaker 8: by NBC and it was like downpouring rain and whatever
- 28:33Speaker 8: structure they were in I think was like entirely metal,
- 28:36Speaker 8: and he was so frustrated.
- 28:39Speaker 7: By the noise of the rain he ended the interview.
- 28:44Speaker 8: And I think that was part of the reason why
- 28:46Speaker 8: was because there were like all these technical logistical issues
- 28:49Speaker 8: and for him that like doesn't compute and vascinating.
- 28:54Speaker 3: This teleprompter guy he went down for like making like
- 28:58Speaker 3: one hundred grand, which I shouldn't be a lot more
- 29:01Speaker 3: than that. If you're know the worst coming up like
- 29:05Speaker 3: these are somehow very conservative bets to me. You know,
- 29:07Speaker 3: I think if the speeches are going to continue to
- 29:10Speaker 3: be this boring and lethargic, bring that guy back. Let's
- 29:13Speaker 3: get the old guy back in there. Okay, let's have
- 29:15Speaker 3: some fun. Let's have some fun. Shall be any final thoughts?
- 29:20Speaker 3: That's it for me, all right, thanks for joining us.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Where can people find your work? Obviously semaphore and where
- 29:27Speaker 3: can people find you online?
- 29:29Speaker 8: I am on X I still almost said Twitter at
- 29:32Speaker 8: Shelby Talcott and then I post on my Instagram, which
- 29:37Speaker 8: is just sb Talcott.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Very nice. Everyone one of the best follow Shelby and uh,
- 29:44Speaker 3: we'll of course see you soon for potentially more election
- 29:49Speaker 3: integrity or whatever else happens this year with the midterms.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Thank you, We'll see you soon. Thanks well. One Tucker
- 29:59Speaker 3: Carlson was not impressed with the speech. Maybe this was
- 30:03Speaker 3: taped before the speech, but one Tucker Carlson went on
- 30:06Speaker 3: a podcast and said, God, bless the Democrats. Let's take
- 30:11Speaker 3: a list.
- 30:11Speaker 9: I'm so thankful and we were saved by the Democrats.
- 30:15Speaker 9: Don't often say that, but it's true in this case.
- 30:17Speaker 9: Ten years from now, no member of Congress is going
- 30:20Speaker 9: to vote to appropriate money to the IDF because by
- 30:23Speaker 9: that point we'll know exactly what they did in Gauza.
- 30:25Speaker 9: What they're trying to do is codify this and take
- 30:28Speaker 9: that decision from a public democratic form, the Congress, the
- 30:31Speaker 9: lawmaking body, and move it to the Pentagon Procurement Office,
- 30:34Speaker 9: which is totally opaque.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:36Speaker 9: So, and that's why bbe' is like, oh, you know, really,
- 30:38Speaker 9: we think we should get off.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Us military aid.
- 30:40Speaker 9: No, you're trying to make it permanent in a way
- 30:43Speaker 9: people won't proceed. With O'Connor, for example, we don't agree
- 30:46Speaker 9: on much, but we strongly agree on this. Well, I'm
- 30:50Speaker 9: still an outlier on the right and you guys are too.
- 30:53Speaker 9: But on the left, I know from going through airports
- 30:57Speaker 9: two days ago there this is a huge issue on
- 31:00Speaker 9: the left, and God blessed them for making it that
- 31:03Speaker 9: against the wishes of their leaders. By the way, Chuck
- 31:05Speaker 9: Schumer doesn't want to talk about this, but a lot
- 31:07Speaker 9: of Democratic voters do. And I just think representatives watching
- 31:14Speaker 9: those three races in New York City, those primaries where
- 31:17Speaker 9: Mandannie got behind three Democratic Socialists and they all.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Beat incumbents, like, wow, how'd that happen? Israel? That's how
- 31:23Speaker 3: it happened.
- 31:24Speaker 4: So that was him on with the American Conservative definitely taped,
- 31:28Speaker 4: not with the speech, but that was him on with
- 31:31Speaker 4: Harry Berger American conservative guys.
- 31:33Speaker 5: They have a podcast and Griffin.
- 31:35Speaker 3: The conservative guy's last name is Berger. That's awesome.
- 31:39Speaker 5: He's Glenn's old producer.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Yeah, he probably wouldn't call himself conservative, but he does
- 31:44Speaker 4: work attack anyway. So that's Tucker saying actually something that
- 31:49Speaker 4: reminds me of when he apologized Griffin for supporting Trump
- 31:53Speaker 4: after the Around War was launched. It saying that he
- 31:56Speaker 4: regrets it and has guilt over it. So not entirely surprising,
- 32:01Speaker 4: but probably we'll send Tucker into another controversy, spy a
- 32:05Speaker 4: spiral on the right for saying, God bless the Democrats.
- 32:08Speaker 4: But you know, meanwhile, let's actually just talk a bit
- 32:12Speaker 4: about developments in the Iran War because right now as
- 32:15Speaker 4: we're recording this, uh the According to CBS News, Iran's
- 32:19Speaker 4: Revolutionary Guard claimed a new series of strikes targeting US
- 32:22Speaker 4: military facilities across the Middle East on Friday.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I'll just put it up on the screen.
- 32:29Speaker 4: They say that spaces on Syria, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and
- 32:32Speaker 4: Jordan and Syria. They claim to have sent quote large
- 32:35Speaker 4: numbers of criminal American forces to their deads. We don't
- 32:38Speaker 4: have any updates about that so far. On Friday, from
- 32:41Speaker 4: the American military ship crews are on the strade of
- 32:44Speaker 4: horror moves, CBS says are unwilling to make the risky
- 32:47Speaker 4: trips to the strade of Hormus because of the breakdown
- 32:48Speaker 4: of the ceasefire.
- 32:50Speaker 5: They said they've gone back.
- 32:51Speaker 4: This is they're quoting the CEO of a Greek maritime
- 32:54Speaker 4: risk management company who said, quote, we've gone back to
- 32:57Speaker 4: the worst case scenario.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Is willing to move.
- 33:02Speaker 4: The US military said it completed a six consecutive night
- 33:06Speaker 4: of strike's early Friday, hitting quote dozens of Iranian military targets.
- 33:10Speaker 4: So again, Griffin, if you're Tucker Carlson, you probably do
- 33:13Speaker 4: have a lot of.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Guilt at this point.
- 33:15Speaker 4: This is the one thing you had been advocating over
- 33:17Speaker 4: and over again against. And then even when some people
- 33:21Speaker 4: on the right thought Trump had struck what felt like
- 33:23Speaker 4: a durable MoU with the Iranians, it pretty quickly fell
- 33:28Speaker 4: back into the escalation trap territory.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Yeah. So, I mean Tucker is reacting to this vote
- 33:36Speaker 3: to fund aid to Israel that the largest amount of
- 33:40Speaker 3: Democrats ever voted against, even people that you know, people
- 33:46Speaker 3: like Rep. Adam Smith, Who are you know about Zionists
- 33:51Speaker 3: who now see the writing on the wall. Now it
- 33:55Speaker 3: still did pass, but I mean it was a sea
- 33:57Speaker 3: change to see people like Pelosi even see where the
- 34:01Speaker 3: winds are blowing, which I think makes you know if Pelosi,
- 34:04Speaker 3: who is you know, on her way out, can see
- 34:07Speaker 3: where the wind's blowing. But we still have people like
- 34:10Speaker 3: a King, jeffries and Chuck Schumer, the people that are
- 34:12Speaker 3: supposed to be like around for longer, They're still going
- 34:16Speaker 3: to die on this hill. I think is quite stunning,
- 34:20Speaker 3: to be honest with you. What is Catherine Clark.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Kevin Clark is the number two Democrat in the
- 34:26Speaker 4: House of Representatives, not somebody seen as like a squad
- 34:30Speaker 4: adjacent person in any way whatsoever. So to see that
- 34:35Speaker 4: the number two House Democrat wouldn't even go along with
- 34:38Speaker 4: Jeffries on that is really powerful. And to Tucker's point,
- 34:42Speaker 4: he said he discovered this in an airport, I think
- 34:45Speaker 4: he probably knew this long before. But Griffin, this has become,
- 34:48Speaker 4: and you know this the animating force behind the twenty
- 34:51Speaker 4: twenty six primary season for Democrats.
- 34:54Speaker 5: It is where the energy is.
- 34:56Speaker 4: It is the central litmus test for Democratic candidates, even
- 35:00Speaker 4: to the point where candidates who in the case of
- 35:03Speaker 4: Scott Wiener simply didn't say they believe it was a
- 35:06Speaker 4: genocide quickly enough, are getting shouted out of a Pride parade,
- 35:11Speaker 4: Pride event because again, like he was just too late
- 35:14Speaker 4: to it.
- 35:15Speaker 5: That's how central of a litmus test it is.
- 35:17Speaker 4: And for Hakim Jefferies to not pick up on that,
- 35:21Speaker 4: to still vote the way that he did, I don't know,
- 35:23Speaker 4: maybe he's just trying to run out the clock.
- 35:25Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's like, you know, I think the lines
- 35:30Speaker 3: that I hear from the more centrist liberals is just
- 35:35Speaker 3: like why is everyone still talking about Israel? Like why
- 35:38Speaker 3: can't we care about this or that? And it's like, well,
- 35:40Speaker 3: they're dumping like forty million dollars into races across the country,
- 35:45Speaker 3: Like it's they have made it impossible to ignore. I
- 35:50Speaker 3: would love to have to get to stop talking about
- 35:54Speaker 3: Israel and APAC. You know, we have to talk about
- 35:56Speaker 3: it every week because they are central players, not only
- 36:00Speaker 3: in the war that was started that's raising all the
- 36:03Speaker 3: prices in our economy, but in our basic democratic process
- 36:08Speaker 3: all across the country. So you know, we would love
- 36:11Speaker 3: it to stop talking about them. But there's also this question,
- 36:15Speaker 3: you know, like where does like in your opinion, Emily,
- 36:18Speaker 3: like Tucker's where's Tucker's like base operate? Because if you
- 36:22Speaker 3: look at like MAGA base polling on the they still
- 36:25Speaker 3: support the war. So is is Tucker's audience now MAGA
- 36:31Speaker 3: Is it just young barstool conservatives and then some like
- 36:36Speaker 3: disaffected Democrats. You know, I know that Jank Yuger at
- 36:41Speaker 3: the TYT has been trying to make this sort of
- 36:44Speaker 3: this MAGA left alliance or what have you. But it
- 36:48Speaker 3: really seems like, based on this vote that just occurred
- 36:52Speaker 3: that now Tucker is saying, God bless them for that.
- 36:56Speaker 3: The real route to checking Israel is not with the
- 36:59Speaker 3: report publican party. It's with the Democratic.
- 37:01Speaker 5: Part at least for now.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I mean, that's one thing Republicans are underestimating is how
- 37:08Speaker 4: much the public opinion has shifted, particularly with Republicans under
- 37:12Speaker 4: the age of thirty. So that doesn't necessarily mean there's
- 37:15Speaker 4: a change coming imminently. It just means that their position
- 37:18Speaker 4: is probably unsustainable depending on again, like we're in the
- 37:21Speaker 4: middle of Ron is claiming that they killed a bunch
- 37:24Speaker 4: of American soldiers and our military is denying that today.
- 37:28Speaker 5: But if that happens, this into the future.
- 37:31Speaker 4: It's clearly not going to be a viable position for Republicans.
- 37:37Speaker 4: But the question is there's still plenty of boomers voting Republican.
- 37:41Speaker 4: It's not as polarized with gen X Republicans. The question
- 37:44Speaker 4: is what happens when does it become When do millennials
- 37:47Speaker 4: and Z voters hit critical mass in the Republican voting block.
- 37:51Speaker 5: So I get that.
- 37:53Speaker 4: So I think for now it clearly is from the Democrats.
- 37:56Speaker 4: And you have people like Thomas Massey, who are you know,
- 38:00Speaker 4: as he talked about on breaking Points this week with Rocana,
- 38:03Speaker 4: trying to buck the trend a bit, But they're still
- 38:05Speaker 4: in the minority. And that's where I think Tucker's audience,
- 38:07Speaker 4: to get back to your question comes from. Is Yes,
- 38:11Speaker 4: MAGA is overwhelmingly still behind Trump on the Iran War.
- 38:14Speaker 4: MAGA is favorable towards Israel, but there has been some
- 38:19Speaker 4: peeling away of people from MAGA. It's not a lot,
- 38:22Speaker 4: it's a slim minority. Those are the people I think
- 38:25Speaker 4: that are listening to Tucker. Along with the record number
- 38:27Speaker 4: of Americans who identify as independent that we've seen.
- 38:30Speaker 5: I think it was Gallop that had that polling.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So I think it's people who are more and more
- 38:34Speaker 4: identifying not even as Democrats or Republicans, but as independents.
- 38:37Speaker 4: And then also the people who peeled away from MAGA
- 38:40Speaker 4: because they thought the one thing Trump would never do
- 38:43Speaker 4: is stirt war in Iran, which I think it's doesn't
- 38:46Speaker 4: make a lot of sense to think Trump would not
- 38:48Speaker 4: start a war in Iran. But here he was last
- 38:51Speaker 4: night talking about how we are winning big in Iran.
- 38:55Speaker 6: We are likewise winning big in Iran, and you will
- 38:58Speaker 6: see the fruits of that labor very very shortly. America
- 39:03Speaker 6: is back and doing really well.
- 39:06Speaker 3: We're back and doing really well, and I did meanwhile,
- 39:09Speaker 3: I wanted a flag. There's been some dust ups with
- 39:13Speaker 3: lots of boats in the straight. US Central Command posted
- 39:18Speaker 3: that American forces have redirect three commercial vessels trying to
- 39:22Speaker 3: run the blockade, disabled one that didn't comply, and boarded
- 39:25Speaker 3: one to ensure full compliance. And I think they have
- 39:30Speaker 3: some images here that they threw up of boarding ships.
- 39:34Speaker 3: And I do think that this did spook the Iranians
- 39:38Speaker 3: a little bit because they're one, for lack of a
- 39:41Speaker 3: better word, Trump card is control of this straight and
- 39:45Speaker 3: it does seem like as we are resuming hostilities, that
- 39:48Speaker 3: we're trying to make a bigger show that we are
- 39:51Speaker 3: controlling the straight and taking away that card from the Iranians,
- 39:55Speaker 3: which I think means that the Iranians have said they're
- 39:58Speaker 3: going to have to escalate. It does feel to me
- 40:02Speaker 3: like the Iranians are really scared of sort of a
- 40:05Speaker 3: like a like a media story of them actually blowing
- 40:09Speaker 3: up like big commercial ships. They've kind of pulled back
- 40:13Speaker 3: and like restrained themselves from a big slide show of
- 40:16Speaker 3: images where they seem like the bad guys where they're
- 40:19Speaker 3: where they're taking down a bunch of ships in the Strait.
- 40:22Speaker 3: But it does seem like with efforts like this that
- 40:24Speaker 3: they're going to have to potentially do that. What do
- 40:26Speaker 3: you make of that, Moy That's.
- 40:28Speaker 4: An interesting point because obviously Trump is at a hard
- 40:30Speaker 4: time rallying like the international community around the Iran Warren.
- 40:34Speaker 4: I think it's not necessarily because you know, some of
- 40:37Speaker 4: some American allies wouldn't support, especially like more neo conservative
- 40:44Speaker 4: folks in those governments wouldn't support a robust military action
- 40:48Speaker 4: against Iran. It's probably just because of the way Trump
- 40:50Speaker 4: has executed it. Even the fact that we're talking about
- 40:52Speaker 4: the Strait of Hormoz right now shows why some of
- 40:55Speaker 4: those allies probably have not rallied around Trump. It's just
- 40:59Speaker 4: that wore Mouse was open and the traffic was flowing freely.
- 41:02Speaker 4: I mean, the prices in other countries are way more
- 41:05Speaker 4: dramatic if you think that they've been bad here. In
- 41:07Speaker 4: places like Australia, they're dealing with this on another level entirely,
- 41:12Speaker 4: and they have been over the course of the war.
- 41:16Speaker 5: So I could see.
- 41:18Speaker 4: How Iran wouldn't necessarily want to give members of the
- 41:22Speaker 4: international community, who might be American allies, reason to change
- 41:27Speaker 4: the way they see the war and to maybe be
- 41:30Speaker 4: more supportive. So it could be coming from something like that.
- 41:33Speaker 4: But I also think it's worth noting this is Senator
- 41:36Speaker 4: Tommy Taberville who was on I think this is Newsmax
- 41:41Speaker 4: recently saying this is just in the last twenty four
- 41:44Speaker 4: hours quote. I'm all for President Trump and what he does.
- 41:47Speaker 4: He knows a lot more about it than we do.
- 41:48Speaker 4: I don't think we would put ground troops in Iran now.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Ground troops on carg Island is different because it is
- 41:53Speaker 4: a way from mainland Iran, and I have seen more
- 41:56Speaker 4: of a drum beat Griffin towards potential action on carg
- 42:00Speaker 4: Island just in the last couple of days. So that's
- 42:04Speaker 4: leaves us back in the escalation trap territory. And even
- 42:07Speaker 4: the fact that this is the straight of hor Moves,
- 42:10Speaker 4: which was open, I just like, it's so ridiculous to
- 42:15Speaker 4: even be talking about it, because it's not him saying
- 42:18Speaker 4: we are winning big in Iran. It makes literally no
- 42:24Speaker 4: sense whatsoever because by that standard, we had won so
- 42:28Speaker 4: resoundingly before the war, because the war moves was open
- 42:32Speaker 4: and ships were flowing freely through it.
- 42:35Speaker 3: I am fully tired of the winning here. And it
- 42:39Speaker 3: does seem like we are in that escalation trap, in
- 42:42Speaker 3: that loop. Trump has mentioned We've done forever wars in
- 42:46Speaker 3: the past. Vietnam took nineteen years, you know, all round Afghanistan.
- 42:50Speaker 3: But you know, Vietnam was not able to halt the
- 42:53Speaker 3: global economy, which which then you know, it questions whether
- 42:58Speaker 3: like can actually go on forever. I mean, we could
- 43:01Speaker 3: do it for a little bit stop refuel again, I guess,
- 43:05Speaker 3: but it does seem to be just structurally so different
- 43:10Speaker 3: that I don't think we can continue this and continue
- 43:14Speaker 3: to put these strains on the economy with any kind
- 43:17Speaker 3: of political future for the Republicans, well, I.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Just don't think the American people.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I mean, Vietnam was so different because most of the
- 43:24Speaker 4: public was bought into this idea for a long time
- 43:27Speaker 4: until we lost so many people in that war. The
- 43:30Speaker 4: public was nuclear warfare was fresh on everybody's mind, literally
- 43:35Speaker 4: people diving under desks to do nuclear drills, and the
- 43:39Speaker 4: public was much more brought into this idea that the
- 43:41Speaker 4: Soviet Union and containment or let's just say the Soviet
- 43:45Speaker 4: Union was a really serious foil to the Western system
- 43:49Speaker 4: and you had that buy in for containment type policies
- 43:52Speaker 4: and things like the war in Vietnam, where people were
- 43:55Speaker 4: genuinely afraid that there was a serious, kinetic, constant threat
- 43:59Speaker 4: of nuclear retaliation from the Soviet Union and like a
- 44:03Speaker 4: mass casualty, potentially apocalyptic event at any given moment. And
- 44:09Speaker 4: there's nothing like that right now from people related to
- 44:12Speaker 4: a run which doesn't even unlike the Soviet Union at
- 44:14Speaker 4: the time, does not have nuclear weapons, and so that's
- 44:19Speaker 4: it's much higher harder for the president to if he's
- 44:22Speaker 4: looking back at Vietnam for the politics of this, which
- 44:25Speaker 4: some conservatives do, because they look at how Nixon handled it.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Now there's a big Nixon renaissance on the right, and say,
- 44:31Speaker 4: you know, you had the silent majority, you have the
- 44:35Speaker 4: hippie backlash and all those sorts of things. It's not
- 44:38Speaker 4: even close in terms of the politics though, Like it's
- 44:41Speaker 4: not at all in anywhere near what that was. So
- 44:44Speaker 4: if Trump is looking back on Vietnam as like an
- 44:47Speaker 4: constructive parallel for a potential long conflict with Iran.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Good luck.
- 44:55Speaker 3: So thankfully we have a new strategic solution to change
- 45:01Speaker 3: the momentum of the war because it seems like too
- 45:04Speaker 3: many of our soldiers are low te Now I've been
- 45:07Speaker 3: saying this for a long time, Emily, every day I'm
- 45:10Speaker 3: really happy that the Secretary of War Pete Hegseith came
- 45:13Speaker 3: out and he's changing all that.
- 45:15Speaker 10: At the Department of War, we have the most elite
- 45:17Speaker 10: warriors on the face of the earth. Every single day,
- 45:21Speaker 10: you are pushed to your absolute physical and mental limits
- 45:25Speaker 10: to master the freaking points and you can hand your
- 45:29Speaker 10: all and you give it. But while we invest heavily
- 45:33Speaker 10: in our weapons systems, platforms and gear, our most decisive
- 45:37Speaker 10: tactical advantage will always be the individual war fire.
- 45:42Speaker 3: We have a sacred duty.
- 45:43Speaker 10: To maintain that advantage, which is why we must constantly
- 45:46Speaker 10: look for new ways to optimize your performance, your resilience,
- 45:51Speaker 10: and your long term.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Health and to meet that commitment.
- 45:54Speaker 10: Today, I'm authorizing a new screening program for testosterone deficiency
- 46:00Speaker 10: for our service members, ensuring you have the right testosterone
- 46:04Speaker 10: levels to operate at your absolute best, because it's well
- 46:08Speaker 10: established science that as we age, testosterone levels often naturally drop.
- 46:15Speaker 10: Under the supervision of our world class medical professionals, war
- 46:18Speaker 10: fighters age thirty and older are going to be tested
- 46:22Speaker 10: annually as part of their periodic health assessment. It's a
- 46:25Speaker 10: health assessment that happens every year. We're just adding this test.
- 46:29Speaker 10: Those under thirty can voluntarily choose to get the test
- 46:32Speaker 10: as well.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Okay, good, it is recommended.
- 46:36Speaker 10: It's entirely your choice to receive testosterone replacement therapy.
- 46:41Speaker 3: All right, So we're going to get everyone on testosterone.
- 46:45Speaker 3: How do you feel about that, moy?
- 46:47Speaker 5: Is this a breaking points policy?
- 46:49Speaker 4: Will this also be implemented for our teams that we
- 46:53Speaker 4: can also operate.
- 46:54Speaker 5: I'm not saying that the women.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I don't want to single out any sex, but so
- 47:00Speaker 4: that the maybe the men on the show could operate
- 47:02Speaker 4: at their highest level.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I've been giving the men estrogen, which I which I thought,
- 47:07Speaker 3: you know what would help you know Ryan's coffee I have.
- 47:13Speaker 3: I have Sager specialty brand of coffee or whatever. You know.
- 47:18Speaker 3: This also leads I think we're probably all for this.
- 47:21Speaker 4: By the way, I wish Saga were here because he
- 47:22Speaker 4: would probably fully endorse this from sectary heg seth.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Yes, everyone should get a tatosterone and a pack is
- 47:29Speaker 3: in which I'm sure they already already have. Now this
- 47:33Speaker 3: kind of also leads to a flyover that occurred that
- 47:37Speaker 3: was getting some uh some comments. Have you seen this
- 47:41Speaker 3: fly over? Emily?
- 47:48Speaker 5: So it was July. I think I saw this if you're.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Just listening to the podcast, We've got a US Navy
- 47:57Speaker 3: jet fighter flying feet uh above a beach of onlookers
- 48:02Speaker 3: here that maybe this was the first guy to get
- 48:07Speaker 3: on some tea here. He was just.
- 48:10Speaker 4: High t flying. Well, actually, Griffin, this reminded me go ahead.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Are you are you? Are you a fan of this?
- 48:16Speaker 3: Are you does this? Is this patriotic? Uh near near
- 48:21Speaker 3: collisions with with crowds of people. I gotta still image here.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I also want to pull up while you react to it.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Oh yeah, let's let's that's incredible. I mean, listen, that's
- 48:29Speaker 4: impressive flying. It's a dangerous that's impressive flying. Yeah, you know,
- 48:34Speaker 4: the flyowers just don't really ever do it for me.
- 48:37Speaker 5: I think it's a meal versus female thing. Probably.
- 48:40Speaker 4: I know, men get really excited about the planes going fast.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I love it, and I want to. I want to
- 48:48Speaker 3: one up it. I want to say, you know, let's all,
- 48:50Speaker 3: let's let's let's not just flyovers. I want to do driveovers.
- 48:53Speaker 3: I want to lay down in the street and have
- 48:55Speaker 3: the tanks roll over me. You know, I want to.
- 48:57Speaker 3: I want to.
- 48:58Speaker 5: I would like that.
- 49:00Speaker 4: Well, on a serious note, did you catch the point
- 49:03Speaker 4: where he's talking about as you age or just ostering
- 49:05Speaker 4: goes down. It reminded me of people probably remember back
- 49:08Speaker 4: in March the Army and looking at an ABC news
- 49:11Speaker 4: headline quote extends maximum recruitment age to forty two, allowing
- 49:15Speaker 4: older recruits to join. So might actually be reacting to
- 49:21Speaker 4: the fact that for in order to meet recruitment targets.
- 49:26Speaker 5: I would imagine that's why they extended the age.
- 49:29Speaker 4: It does make I don't want to mock it too much,
- 49:31Speaker 4: So that's a jump from thirty five years old to
- 49:33Speaker 4: forty two. That happened during two thousand and six, that
- 49:37Speaker 4: was the Iraq War. But then they brought it back
- 49:41Speaker 4: down to thirty five. According to this ABC News report,
- 49:45Speaker 4: Marines capped at twenty eight.
- 49:48Speaker 5: I think, listen, it doesn't.
- 49:49Speaker 4: It's not entirely crazy, as people are just like maximizing longevity,
- 49:55Speaker 4: living longer, those sorts of things that you would bump
- 49:57Speaker 4: it up to forty two.
- 49:58Speaker 5: The average forty two year old who would be.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Interested in joining the army right now, that is to say,
- 50:04Speaker 4: self selecting group of people, is probably healthier than they
- 50:08Speaker 4: were I don't know forty years ago, just based on
- 50:11Speaker 4: what your biological ages.
- 50:13Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 50:13Speaker 4: There's a lot of unhealthy Americans out there, of course,
- 50:16Speaker 4: But anyway, maybe this is what it's about, is they
- 50:19Speaker 4: have an older group of people joining the army now,
- 50:24Speaker 4: and you can screen yourself for testosterone.
- 50:28Speaker 3: I want to meet the forty two year old that's
- 50:31Speaker 3: signing up to get involved. That would be a very
- 50:34Speaker 3: interesting breaking points interview. Someone was very happy about the
- 50:38Speaker 3: disosterone news though, and one Jesse Waters on Fox, let's
- 50:42Speaker 3: hear what he has. You lose your endurance muscle mass.
- 50:46Speaker 3: So yeah, I want these guys on it. But you
- 50:48Speaker 3: know what's gonna happen. The guys that don't need it
- 50:51Speaker 3: are gonna take it to triple boost, right, and then
- 50:54Speaker 3: they're gonna get out there and women on base. You
- 50:56Speaker 3: guys better be careful. Port calls women in Asia. You
- 51:01Speaker 3: better be careful because these guys are going to be animals.
- 51:05Speaker 3: You better watch out.
- 51:09Speaker 5: You should have, yeah, but I don't know if I
- 51:12Speaker 5: would have.
- 51:14Speaker 3: All right, so.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Fox watch out in Asia, which, by the way, from
- 51:26Speaker 4: Jesse Waters, who is admitted to having an affair with
- 51:28Speaker 4: his producer.
- 51:29Speaker 5: This man knows high tea behavior, so.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Well, yeah, maybe maybe uh you know, uh so high
- 51:36Speaker 3: T that he.
- 51:37Speaker 4: Tried to have a fistfight with Ryan Groom, that that
- 51:40Speaker 4: was a that was a low T.
- 51:41Speaker 3: That was probably pre testosterone because I think he got
- 51:44Speaker 3: his ass kicked.
- 51:45Speaker 5: I know Ryan.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Ryan should be the one lecturing us about tests.
- 51:53Speaker 3: I would love to see uh Ryan on some tissosterone
- 51:56Speaker 3: instead of what he normally does, which is micro does
- 51:59Speaker 3: so but maybe we can all microdose a little tea.
- 52:03Speaker 3: But uh maybe maybe leave the pork call women alone
- 52:08Speaker 3: if we can, if we can avoid it or we'll
- 52:10Speaker 3: have to go back to.
- 52:12Speaker 4: My take on this is that it seems like it
- 52:15Speaker 4: might be a perfectly reasonable thing to do, but it
- 52:19Speaker 4: seems rather telling that they decided to make a big
- 52:22Speaker 4: public show of this with a message from Hegseth, like
- 52:26Speaker 4: a direct to camera announcement.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Bragging about it.
- 52:30Speaker 4: Like I could see that there's probably possibly some medical
- 52:35Speaker 4: rationale for doing this, but Hegseth doing this like direct
- 52:39Speaker 4: to camera, big rollout of it is somewhat amusing.
- 52:44Speaker 3: All right, well, let's turn our attention to another high
- 52:49Speaker 3: tea individual. Of course, I'm speaking about Joe Biden, who
- 52:53Speaker 3: is out with a new book about his times and travels.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Let's take a lesson.
- 53:04Speaker 11: Since that's the presidency. I've had a lot of people
- 53:06Speaker 11: ask me, Joe, what have you been doing. I'm spending
- 53:14Speaker 11: a lot of time with my family. I'm dealing with
- 53:16Speaker 11: the cancer diagnosis, and I've been getting treatment and it's
- 53:19Speaker 11: been going really well.
- 53:20Speaker 3: Oh goodness.
- 53:23Speaker 5: I want to take all.
- 53:24Speaker 11: Those offer their prayers and support and well wishes who
- 53:27Speaker 11: spent the world to me and to Jill. I've written
- 53:32Speaker 11: a book about my time as president. It's called Promised
- 53:35Speaker 11: Me America. It's coming on November. It's available for pre order.
- 53:40Speaker 3: Now, all right, Well, it goes on for another minute
- 53:43Speaker 3: thirty that I will not subject people to. But let
- 53:46Speaker 3: me just say, like, so he's like he's going through
- 53:49Speaker 3: a cancer treatment, but he was going to be president again.
- 53:52Speaker 3: And you know this is an edited thing that he
- 53:55Speaker 3: probably got multiple takes and is still slurring through it.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I mean, what an incredible I guess, just an ego
- 54:05Speaker 3: that he's still willing to walk out there when I
- 54:09Speaker 3: think the majority of the Democratic Party wants to never
- 54:12Speaker 3: hear from him again.
- 54:13Speaker 5: It's amazing.
- 54:14Speaker 4: And the book, actually, now that you say that it's
- 54:16Speaker 4: worth mentioning, is coming out I think November seventeenth, so
- 54:19Speaker 4: it's coming out after the mid terms, which Jill Biden
- 54:22Speaker 4: did not have the courtesy to wait for Jill Biden
- 54:24Speaker 4: to drop that book what was it last month? And
- 54:26Speaker 4: has been on a disastrous media tour. Do you have
- 54:29Speaker 4: the clip Griffin of It's horrible? Horrible?
- 54:34Speaker 5: Crystal said this in our group chat yesterday.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I was watching it and thought that I was actually
- 54:38Speaker 4: physically going to have some type of allergic reaction.
- 54:42Speaker 5: This is ninety second why.
- 54:45Speaker 4: A weird moment at the end of a Jill Biden
- 54:49Speaker 4: book talk with Whoopi Goldberg. If you're listening to this
- 54:52Speaker 4: there on stage at ninety second, why Biden himself is
- 54:55Speaker 4: in the crowd and they are clapping and turning to him.
- 55:09Speaker 3: All right, so lots of applause. He's wandering, he's sauntering
- 55:14Speaker 3: up slowly, all right, all right?
- 55:22Speaker 12: Oh, Joe has a question like you couldn't ask it later?
- 55:29Speaker 12: Who you love most of the whole world? Whoopie, And
- 55:42Speaker 12: so I'm going to do the last No, I love
- 55:49Speaker 12: you most, Joe?
- 55:51Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 55:52Speaker 4: It?
- 55:52Speaker 12: Is that the answer he wanted? Yeah?
- 55:57Speaker 7: Overwhelming?
- 55:58Speaker 12: Well that's what keeps him on his two it's never
- 56:00Speaker 12: one sure, I always keep him guessing.
- 56:03Speaker 7: Is that not true?
- 56:06Speaker 3: He's doing the Sign of the Cross, which would I
- 56:09Speaker 3: thought you? I thought you'd like that, Emily.
- 56:11Speaker 13: This thing I have to say is please remind people
- 56:16Speaker 13: to pick up now.
- 56:18Speaker 3: I know it's his book, So whoop He's trying to
- 56:20Speaker 3: reassert control over the stage. But Joe has not laughed.
- 56:24Speaker 3: Joe is frozen at the front ear but look up.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, gooks, it looks they were all on a
- 56:30Speaker 4: racial slurt.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Wait, really I missed that. Let's go back well to
- 56:36Speaker 3: pick up.
- 56:38Speaker 13: Now I know it's his books, but look up.
- 56:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah, gooks, it looks like gooks.
- 56:45Speaker 3: What what is going on? Jill? You're not you're not senile?
- 56:51Speaker 3: Like what is that? It's infectious? Maybe, yes, you're right, but.
- 56:56Speaker 13: I'm going to remind them, but I'm to remind people
- 57:00Speaker 13: to pick up books on your way out. The name
- 57:03Speaker 13: of the book is the View from the East Wing.
- 57:06Speaker 13: And that concludes our conversation. Thank you.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Okay, So now they hug, and now Joe is still
- 57:15Speaker 3: there and he's trying to get some more words in
- 57:21Speaker 3: and then I'm going to have to lower the uh.
- 57:25Speaker 3: So they're trying to play him off Oscar music style
- 57:28Speaker 3: and he's putting his finger up, sir. So now they
- 57:40Speaker 3: hand him a mic.
- 57:42Speaker 11: Book which comes out.
- 57:47Speaker 12: I have to remind him this is my event.
- 57:54Speaker 11: The only thing Jill does better than right.
- 57:56Speaker 3: She's a beautiful woman. Wow.
- 58:03Speaker 5: I always say that about Crystal.
- 58:06Speaker 3: As you wander around the stage.
- 58:09Speaker 5: We only think Crystal's betterise beautiful.
- 58:12Speaker 3: One, beautiful woman, incredible. That's the if. That's the one
- 58:16Speaker 3: thing she's right about. It's that it's terrible. Yeah, these
- 58:21Speaker 3: people don't understand that everyone hates them. Now, I mean,
- 58:25Speaker 3: I guess, I mean, like maybe the people in that
- 58:27Speaker 3: room are fine or whatever, but I mean it's like
- 58:31Speaker 3: Jill Biden, the Jill, not Joe, is such a villain,
- 58:36Speaker 3: like the fact that this is like some level of
- 58:40Speaker 3: elder abuse that she was trying to drag him through.
- 58:43Speaker 3: I mean, this guy can't operate a car much less
- 58:46Speaker 3: like a golf cart. And she wanted this guy to
- 58:50Speaker 3: be in office for another four years so she could
- 58:52Speaker 3: what like do more rearrangement of the Rose Garden, like
- 58:57Speaker 3: what like it's it's it was just so slimy and evil.
- 59:02Speaker 3: But I guess you got to sell your books, got
- 59:04Speaker 3: to get your book sales out there. But well, I
- 59:07Speaker 3: cannot imagine him doing four more years in office.
- 59:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's great to never lose sight of that. And
- 59:14Speaker 4: you probably remember when it was Favreau on Pod Save
- 59:18Speaker 4: a couple of months back was talking about how it's
- 59:20Speaker 4: not as though people are going to the polls and saying,
- 59:23Speaker 4: I refuse to vote Democrat because I don't trust the
- 59:26Speaker 4: Democratic Party that told me Joe Biden was fine and
- 59:28Speaker 4: should be president and then you know, prevented us from
- 59:31Speaker 4: having a real primary after he had to drop out
- 59:33Speaker 4: in the debate, but it's something that lingers in people's
- 59:36Speaker 4: heads and probably is a huge barrier for them to
- 59:40Speaker 4: voting Democrat in the future. And now Republicans will have
- 59:42Speaker 4: a similar problem with Trump probably where people just don't
- 59:46Speaker 4: necessarily trust all of the folks around Trump if they're
- 59:50Speaker 4: running for If Jade Vance is running for office and
- 59:52Speaker 4: there's a general election and he's the Republican nominee, Trump
- 59:56Speaker 4: is at fifty six percent on popularity ability, I should say,
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: in the real coup politics average right now. So it's
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: not like it's just a Democrat problem. But when you
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: see videos like this, I think it does remind people
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: of how much enabling, complicity and just evil there was
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: surrounding Biden.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: The media's unwillingness to publish tough stories until like the
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: very last minute. It's just crazy. It's absolutely crazy.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: And yes, the White House was threatening people, bullying the
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: press and trying to conceal this, and they couldn't at
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: you a certain point, they couldn't keep a lid on it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: But to see it now and think that he could
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: be the sitting president of the United States is just Yeah,
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: it's a reminder of how I think You're right, Joe
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Biden ends up looking truly despicable because she's out there
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: hockey in her book. Her husband's the president, the former president,
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: and they're making him like sit and they clearly don't
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: want to deal with him. When he wants to say something,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: they're making it like sit in the audience. He doesn't
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: want to he doesn't want to just sit in the audience.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: He wants to say something. He wants to promote his
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: own book, and they're like, get out of here, get
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: out of here.
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: This is the Jill Show.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I think like a smart Democratic party
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: would get rid of her completely, like I think they should.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, no one's gonna read these books.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: They're just gonna fill up warehouses somewhere.
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: Would she refuse to do events like that? Ninety second?
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Why should refused to do events like that?
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean, it's it's absolutely absurd. And I just
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: wanted us to just take a trip down memory lane
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: to when things could have been changed, when there could
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: have been a pivot. Jill Biden stuck her nails in
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: even deeper into probably my favorite quote of the twenty
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: twenty four election that you knew all the facts. You
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: answered every question. This is after Biden's disastrous debate. Let's
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: drop it, Jo, You.
- 1:01:51Speaker 12: Did such a great job. You answered every question.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: You knew all that.
- 1:02:00Speaker 12: That crowd, what.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Did truck do?
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: Live?
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: So she writes about this in her book and says
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: she believes that Biden was having her husband at one
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: point during the debate when he crashes out and says
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: we'd be back.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: She says she.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Thought he was having a stroke and then went on
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: stage afterwards and says, you did a great job, you
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: do all the facts, and talks about in the book
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: what was I supposed to do?
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: What was I No, don't do the event afterwards, cancel
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: the event.
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: If you thought your husband had a stroke, get him
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: to a hospital.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: Ma'am, Yeah, she said. She she said, like, uh, it
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: was a stroke. But imagine he did really well if
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: it was a stroke, right, that's pretty good.
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: That's a good point. That's a good point.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: Actually, if anything, she was just being honest because he
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: did know all the facts and answered every question despite
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: having a stroke, which is something to celebrate.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Yes, And I guess that takes us like full circle
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: from what you know, felt like Trump in some stage
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: of the brandoning, decaying process. I think he's Trump is
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: just more at the lethargic kind of sleepy Joe I
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: would say stage. We're not at the wandering stage with
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Trump as much. But wow, we truly do have some
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: of the oldest politicians that have ever spoken to or
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: been alive. I mean, it is truly embarrassing. So I
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: think we will leave.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Well, you said alive, but we don't. We're not.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: We're not fully sure about that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: The there's a man right now who is in control
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: of a committee that does defense appropriations as we are
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: funding the warren Ukraine and are now basically at war
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: in Iran who there's serious debate about whether or not
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: he's alive, and that would be Mitch McConnell. So while
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: you said they're alive, I just wanted to add that, uh,
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: that clarification, Griffin, it's up at unclear.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: You know, I appreciate that flag, and actually in context,
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: I have a lot more respect for Mitch McConnell because
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: he's not trying to speak, he's not trying to put
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: out a book. He you know, he doesn't know all
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: the facts. He's not going to answer every question exactly
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: that's classy. I respect that, you know, like we don't.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: Finally, his politician, and I don't have.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: To deal with his wife. His wife just immediately just
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: disappeared to China.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: She well the story, she was in China and didn't
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: think she had to come back, even though we now
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: know the nine to one one call is that he
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: was unresponsive and ZPR was being performed.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: It just didn't warrant or returning from a trip.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: To China where she was meeting with some of Shedin
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: Ping's top allies.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: So good stuff, Thank you, Elaine Chow.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: The love story of a lifetime. Well, I think that's
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: going to do it for this segment. All right, let's
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: answer some questions from the Breaking Points members. Of course,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: you can submit one yourself if you become a member
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: of Breakingpoints dot com and we try to read them
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: on Fridays. Let's start with, well, he guess Kevin would
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Emily consider giving a breakdown of Wisconsin's upcoming elections. Now,
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: I've been tracking one Francesca Hong DSA, another DSA candidate,
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: another crazy communist who is running for governor of Wisconsin.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: What do you think her chances are?
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: Well, I think they're probably not terrible. If we're talking
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: about the primary, I think it's it's possible she wins
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: the primary. Wisconsin, I think people forget is one of
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: the kind of traditional social bastions in modern American history.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: So it's not like completely insane that a socialist in
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: Wisconsin would have some chance in a general election that
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: obviously gets a lot tougher, But we should, Griffin, I think,
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: zoom in on that race. It's I want to say,
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: it's the week after the Michigan primary, so it'll be
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: front and center in the weeks ahead. But it's definitely
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: an interesting Democratic primary to watch, just because you have
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: a state like Wisconsin with a history of socialism, with
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: a lot of the problems that DSA folks are talking about.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: And bear in mind, Bernie trounced Tiller Clinton in Wisconsin,
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: like it was not even close in the primary in
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: twenty sixteen, So not crazy that Francesca Hong. I just
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: don't I don't know, like i'll we should have a run, obviously,
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: I think, so okay, good, Yeah, I'm on the right,
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: so my perspective is deeply skeptical, but we'll see what happens.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: I was driving through because well, I mean not just
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: the DSA thing. I probably have more in common with
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: some DSA folks on particular issues than I do with
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: some Republicans on particular issues, but also a bunch more differences.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: But still I'm driving through rural Wisconsin. I was driving
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: through Royal, Wisconsin on Tuesday, and the amount of Trump
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: signs still significant. I drove past one that was like
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: homemade big sign on the highway and it said King
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: Trump twenty twenty eight, King Trump twenty twenty eight.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: I love that homemade. Incredible because one.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Of those in LA put it outside your apartment.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, I would get it completely evicted. I would
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: have to. I would have to get Spencer Pratt to
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: protect me on that one. Who is Spencer Pratt? You
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: know he's like he's fully, He's fully. He tried to
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: be a little like Maga light, but now he's like full,
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: He's full like Maga. How do you how do you
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: feel that Spencer Pratt right now as a sore loser
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: but now kind of like social media pundit.
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: I think Spencer Pratt is still really interesting. Probably so Trump.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: We didn't even mention this earlier in the show, but
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Trump brought up the Pratt race in his speech last night.
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: And this is where the election stuff is kind of
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: frustrated from my perspective, because it's just indisputably true. I
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: was arguing with some people on my Instagram about the
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: is its disputably true that when.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: It wasn't the DMS it.
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: Was in the comments Actually that it is indisputably true
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: when you have this pattern where votes come in on
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: election night, Nitthia Ramen is crying the margin is massive,
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: and then over the course of the week it changes. Yes,
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: I understand fully the reason that happens male and well
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: that's fair. But I understand fully the reason that happens
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: it is going to make people think crazy shit's happening
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: in the background no matter what. And I think the
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: same thing is true with the electronic voting machines. They
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: just make people feel weird. And so there are real
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: questions like if you look across the board, people's trust
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: and institutions obviously is down, but trust in elections is down,
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: and it's not just Republicans, And so I do think
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: there is room for us to come to, like some
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: solutions about how to do this better. But it makes
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: me so frustrated when Trump, I think, praise on you know,
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: this is what he did in like went in super
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: crazy directions and prayed on people's legitimate concerns about for example,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: Mark Zuckerberg coming in pouring all this money into like
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: dem areas disproportionately to Republican ones.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: That's a real thing. That is like an.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: Actual billionaire coming in and trying to shift the election
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: in ways that make people uncomfortable.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: But then you just end up with this silly stuff.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: But you're actually in La Griffin, So I'm kind of
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: curious for what your take is on Prat right now.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: I think just let me tee this stuff by saying
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: his new War Foundation is explicitly yeah, it's explicitly going
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: to be acting in a journalistic capacity. And my theory
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: of that case is smart new media politicians realize, like mom,
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Donnie did that bringing new information to voters. Remember his
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: food kiosk actually as a food truck video right during
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: his campaign. Yes, it was him bringing new information on
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: social media. That's what does well on social media is
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: like I am exposing so thing, And I think that's
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: what Pratt is like actually kind of doing right now
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: in ways that dams are not prepared for unless their
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: mom Donnie piled.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Yeah. But the but the the thing about Pratt that
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: was like sort of like confusing and frustrating, like he
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: doesn't really know where he's running, Because I do think
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: that Pratt was probably charismatic and forceful enough to peel
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: off some normy liberals like I talked to a few
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: normy liberals who even think that something was like funky
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: with the election or or what have you, that it
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: was odd that Pratt was up and down. Now, in reality,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: it would be insane for the the Kami Karen bass
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: to rig Karen Bassura, for her to rig the polls
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: so that Nithya, who's much more likely to beat her
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: in a one on one than Pratt, like she want
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: she wanted Pratt to be in the top two with her,
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: So it would be insane for her to rig the
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: election to knock out Pratt from the top two general.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: So it just doesn't make sense on a on a
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: stolen election strategy.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Well unless it was a Nythia thing that's like that
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: would be his rebuttal I'm not saying it was.
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: Obviously you can see where people would be like.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: Nity can't tie your shoes. She can't even cut a video.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: She's gonna steal the elections. I mean, I'm sorry, Like,
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: like that's also, uh, you know, I think complimenting Nythia
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: a little too much. But with the with the Pratt thing,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: it's like he he did have a shot at it,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: but in the last two weeks before the election, he's
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: like in New York City, he's going on Gutfeld and
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Fox News. Yeah, what a mistake. Like he should have
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: been going on Pod Save America. He should be talking
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: to fucking Alana Glazer. He should be he should be
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: trying to talk to Amy Poehler, you know, about whatever
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: whatever the funck happens on Amy polar podcast. But I
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: mean maybe that maybe they wouldn't have let him on.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: I think Pod Save to let him on. So I
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: just think it's it was a total mistake strategically for
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: him in how he played it. So I kind of
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I lost with little respect that I had for him,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: and and and I'm like, where's the reality show? I
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: want the reality show now, I guess. But you think
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: he's going to be doing sort of a vertical new
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: media thing where he just like whinds and complains because
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: I don't think there's any political future for him in California,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: especially as he seems to post loss be kind of
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: pulling off the mask and even being more clearly right
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: wing than before.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: So that's a good point that if he's going to
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: go full Maga, he becomes less viable in California, because
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: he was insistent during the election that he was running
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: as an independent. He's registered for biblegam but he's running
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: as an independent, running as an independent, and there are
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: a lot of voters in like cal you go Inland,
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: in California, it gets much redder pretty quickly than like
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: It's there's less people obviously, but it does change, and
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: it's just a kind of different state the further inland
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: you go versus the coast.
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: So there's something there.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: I mean, there's something there for a person who does
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: a good job at like meeting the moment, as I
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: think Pratt did during the election. But to your point,
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: if that's the trajectory long term, it probably does make
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: him less viable. On the other hand, I do think
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: if he starts going back to the roots of the
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: Pratt campaign several months ago, where he's like going into
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: skid row and being like, why is this getting bigger?
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: What are they doing to dogs?
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: That stuff can be powerful, but if it's combined with
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: full maga, it's certainly not going to be viable.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: I think that's right, Griffin.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: We do need to save the skid Row dogs. That's
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: actually how I first experienced the Pratt campaign is I
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: was helping volunteering at skid Row, and I had no
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: idea that all the people at skid Row were like,
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: we're like rhydoids because we were talking about the dogs
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: and that's why we need Spencer Pratt. I was like, oh,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: what really you were?
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: You were out there harvesting ballots for Nancia Rahman and
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: skid Row.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: I was, I was, I was, I was. I was
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: taking a hit off the crack pipe. I was signing
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: people up. It was incredible.
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: But were you out there helping puppies because you do that?
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it.
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: It is.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: It is terrible down there, and and when I tell
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: people about it, they treat me like I'm a crazy
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Fox News Alex Jones host when I talk about the
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: horrible things that happened down there, but they are really happening.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: And that was Pratt's That was like Pratt's power in
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: a sense to to talk about some of the things
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: that we that are happening that are real, and you
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: know that the that the city and in certain ways
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: is falling apart.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: So that was the group that's mostly responsible, at least
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: from an outside like organization perspective, nonprofit perspective, for pushing
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: and gain a function research and undermine the credibility of
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: Anthony Fauci is called white waste, and it's we've had
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: them on the show before. It's like in Moost people
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: who used to be with PTA and said, we think
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: we can get Republican voters to support ending animal testing
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: even if they don't have like a super moral peda
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: style ethical objection to it because it's like wasteful government spending.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: But during the pandemic they used that and actually had
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: like a major priority on the beagles accomplished because they said,
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: we're going to work with Republicans And now you see
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: a lot of Republicans like Nancy Mace and others being like,
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: actually this is terrible. Like they they worked with the
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: Maha movement and sometimes you can get shit done that way.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: Why do conservatives own the animal issue that? Why do
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: you think that is they they like new. Is that new?
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: They seem to be like ahead of the game on that,
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: Like obviously there was there was that beagle rescue that
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: was not political. It wasn't like a rhdeoid thing. But
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: but I do see like the Conservatives is it because
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: it's like an easy moral issue for them to talk
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: about when they feel like they don't have a lot
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: of other moral issues to and on. I don't know
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: where it's coming from, but it does seem like they
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: care a little bit about more about dogs than homeless
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: people and then and their rights and experiences on the streets.
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: But I'll take what I can get as a dog lover.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: I guess I don't know.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: I thought it was interesting how Pratt was pretty he
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: did a good job of breaking the Republican what's the
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: best way to put it. We've now spent so much
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: time on Spinster Pratt, but like he didn't do a
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: good job, but he did a good job of not
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: falling into the trap of how Republicans typically talk about
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: homemost populations and atticts.
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: In the streets. Like he did a pretty good job.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: I think of framing it as like this isn't good
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: for anybody including them, and the dogs were like a
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: gateway drug. To that point, I feel like where you
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: just say, like nobody is thriving in this situation. Yeah,
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: but yeah, your point about how it's an easy moral
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: victory is well taken.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: So let's get away from Pratt for a second. I'm
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: sure he'll be rearing his head again in future AMAS.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: This is from this person doesn't have a name, just
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: called subscriber. Would you call Jeremy Skayhill's session with Roe
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: Conna an interview or an inquisition? For what it's worth,
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: it sure felt like an inquisition to me. I thought
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: it was horrible. Emily you've seen the clips.
- 1:17:18Speaker 7: Well.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: Tybee wrote a post yesterday Let's go laying into Ryan
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: and Jeremy. He criticized Brian for petting his dog during
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: the interview. But that was Ryan's cat, I believe, not
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: Ryan's dog. But that was a criticism, yeah.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Really critical.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: He was really critical of Jeremy for being I think
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: he would probably say performative and not looking to get
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: a real answer out of Roe, but just looking to
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: make a point and make an argument more than elicit
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: an answer.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: I actually disagree with that.
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: My take on it is that Jeremy comes from his
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: position where he genuinely believes what he's saying, and his
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: frustration with Roe. I'm very curious what you make at
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: this Griffin. His frustration with Rocana is that he's come
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: out here and positioned himself as a champion of the
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: Palestinian cause. But from Jeremy's perspective, as somebody who's been
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: like in those trenches for a long time, he's saying,
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: nobody is going to push Rocana to be consistent. And
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: I agree more with Roe on his position than I
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: agree with Jeremy's position. But I actually thought that was
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: a fairly courageous line of questioning, and I thought he
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: was trying to get a real answer out of Rocana
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: about whether.
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: The quote armed resistance.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: Of Hamas had any legitimate military or could make any
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: claim to legitimate military action on October seventh.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: Now, obviously that was a terrorist attack.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: Jeremy was saying that it started as an attack on
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: military institutions. Seems to me like it was a planned
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: terrorist attack. But I thought from Jeremy's perspective, he was
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: pushing Kanna to be consistent, and I do think he
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: was trying to get him to say yes or no genuinely,
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: So I totally disagreed. I thought it was if you
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: have Jeremy's worldview and you're looking at Rokanna become the
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: sort of champion of the Palestinian cause in the American Congress,
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: then asking whether there is any legitimate room for an
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: armed resistance against the Israeli government seems like a legitimate
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: line of questioning if that's your worldview. So I totally agree.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: I disagreed with the criticisms of it. I don't know,
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: but I'm curious what you thought.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess if Roe was like, well, you can
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: attack the military bases, but then when you attack the
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: music festival or whatever, that's when it becomes a terrorist
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: attack or something. I do think it's interesting that for
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: the last two years, the litmus test has been is
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: is it a genocide? Which broke Rona has said, But
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: now now we're going to go to was October seventh justified?
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Which I think is very interesting and really, you know
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: what what Weather wrote wherever he was, he was saying,
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: he was justifying the the October seventh, you know, Alcosom
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: flood against the military bases, taking down the fences, and
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: what have you.
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: Well, that narrowly, and this is where I think it was,
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: like I would argue about this with Jeremy, but like
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: I think he was saying, is there he was using
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: that example of from his perspective, the early attacks being
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: on military targets, and he was just narrowing it down
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: to that and trying to say, is that acceptable at
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: any level whatsoever?
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: And I thought that, like seeing Roe's.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: Answer was genuinely valuable, and even Jeremy's critics seem to
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: have thought it was valuable because they've used it to
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: explain how Row from their perspective of his worlds you
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: falls apart when pressed on that particular question. Now I
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: don't agree with that, but he wasn't saying like do
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: you justify a tax on the music festival?
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: You're saying, is there any legitimate military like I don't know.
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: I think he was using an example to make that.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: Point, Yeah, which I think, of course, which I think,
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: of course there is if you're if you're being occupied
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: by a foreign power. I think these are actual like
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: laws like laws of war, that you are allowed to
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: engage in military actions against an occupying force, an illegal
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: occupying force. What would you say to that.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: I was thinking about this over the course of the week,
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: and I think that's part of what the problem is
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: for Palestinians who are in Gaza and want the or
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: want a solution to the problem. It's like your option
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: right now is Hamas, which is terroristic, and you don't
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: have like sort of a what's the best way to
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: put it, non terroristic, more legitimate.
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: Representation?
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: Sure, I mean, and it was said in the and
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: it was said in the interview. Oh more, Rose said
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: I'm more Doctor King than Malcolm X or what have you.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: But well, I try. I mean, they tried the Doctor
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: King route, and you know, they did the March of Return.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: They all got shot in the kneecap. That's also mentioned
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: in the interview. So yeah, so at what point, at
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: what point then do you have you exhausted all options
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: or what have you? I mean, I think rosemen really brave,
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: uh braver than most Democrats on this. And I also
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: respect that Roe is willing to just kind of sit
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: there and like, you know, duke it out and fight
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: it out. I think like most politicians are not going
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: to do that, and I think that they that they
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: should because you know, regardless of Rose answer you there's
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: some respect there right to to to go through that interview.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: And also I guess like, because I don't have anything
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: super smart to say, I wanted to I wanted to
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: mention what Ryan kind of said in the post interview
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: once Roe was gone. He made this comment about Lincoln
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: that when Lincoln was when when Lincoln was running, when
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Lincoln was president, he was never saying the things that
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: the abolitionists would say, sort of the most far left abolitionists,
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: things that every I think American today would feel like,
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: is the normal base reality segregation is wrong, you know
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: that that we need racial justice.
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: And he wasn't saying Barley Constitution go full John Brown.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he wasn't. He wasn't saying any of that stuff.
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: But he was, you know, behind the scenes, working with
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: you know, abolitionists and organizers and all that stuff to
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: create a coalition that included the most far left abolitionists
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: and more of the at the time, more of the
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: kind of the weaker liberal positions on this. And so
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: I thought that was an interesting point too. And I
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: do think that is that is somewhere where row can
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: kind of fit.
- 1:24:09Speaker 13: Well.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and he does come from the tradition, like he
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: mentioned of Gandhi, like his grandfather I believe was an
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: associate of Gandhi.
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: And that's where I come down too.
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: I think it's part of the problem with the IDF
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: is that you end up justifying mass civilian deaths for
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: a particular goal, and you're going in a really bad direction.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: And that is obviously obviously a massive problem if you're
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: genuinely trying to justify October seventh or any other terrorist
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: activities from Hamas, and it sucks if you're a Palestinian
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: who doesn't want to see that happening too israeally civilians either,
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: and you're in this position where they're like basically between
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: a rock and a hard place. It's something, of course,
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: that every political movement has dealt with. The point about
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: Malcolm X, the point about if you think about like
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: the anti abortion movement, which I consider myself a part of,
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: they historically in the last thirty years have dealt with
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: this question. It's not really something people talk about now,
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: but you know, they were saying, if you genuinely believe
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: that thousands of babies are being slaughtered every single day,
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: then that's why people were saying well, let's go ahead
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: and fire bomb abortion clinics. Not good, it's not good.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: It's not the right answer. But it's not unique to
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: one political movement or another. The question of like, what
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: justifies is that the protection of human life is a
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: real one.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: Yes, so I think we've come down on it was
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: an inquisition, but a just inquisition by Jeremy sk Hill.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: It was an inquisition.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: Not all inquisitions are bad. They're not all made the same.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: All right, let's do one last one now. This is
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: an amalgamation of multiple multiple comments here. So everyone's asking
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: about Eric. So we had an interview with Donovan McKinney,
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: who's running for Congress in Michigan. Jake Mogul asked, will
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: we be getting more from the Wednesday host? Eric loved
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: his style and how he really stepped up for the
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: team covering Emily's family emergency and Ryan being a nose show. Yes,
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: So I'll give a little bit behind the scenes here.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: When we bring people in remotely, they are a zoom call,
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: and the zoom window had Eric at the bottom under
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Ryan because Eric is our studio manager that runs the control.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: So Eric's name was on the zoom call, which confused
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: Donovan and made him think that was Eric. So it's
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: not Donovan's fault. It is my fault. That has now
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: been changed and now just says breaking points.
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: But and by the way, that doesn't mean he's not
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: a real breaking points for and because if that happens
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: and you're maybe nervous and you're doing a media hit
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: and you want to make sure you get it right
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: in your mind in those high pressure moments, it can
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: go to weird places like you can suddenly be oh, okay,
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: so I'll just I'll do what's on the screen, or like,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: am I wrong? You feel like you're being gaslt You're like,
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: it's a Eric.
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: I know that's Ryan, but it's as Eric.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a big Ryan fan. So I think I
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: think that was that was that was my fault. But
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: then it Ryan. I told Ryan after you got to
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: correct him. At some point you gotta say something, and
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: I say, and we told Ryan after the interview, and
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: he goes, oh, really, he didn't even notice. So if
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Ryan didn't notice, then you know, I think, Okay.
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: So this is actually more funny behind the scenes because
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: so I was back in Wisconsin from my grandfather's funeral
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: and travel got super messed up because it was in
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: the middle of like basically nowhere, and so we're scrambling
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: to make this happen, which is why I was coming
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: to everybody from the Milwaukee Airport. But I'm getting the
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: show messages as I'm going through security, and I'm getting
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: random notes from Griffin saying like, no, we need to
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: end this before there's another.
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: Eric correct him. I'm like, what the fuck is happening.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: We're still We're gonna work. That's awesome, And finally we'll
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: end with a really fun one from Benjamin krabs. Ryan,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: can you address allegations you're distantly related to the Gilgo
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: Beach killer Rex Hureman. You look early similar. I'm gonna
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: throw this up on screen. This does not look like Ryan.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: No, it does not.
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: But people think that Ryan looks like Tate Reeves, who
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: I could say, does look a little bit like the
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: Gilgo Beach Killer. This is so Ryan Ryan. Yeah, put
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: this up. Ryan owns this. He posts this on X
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: all the time. I think it's unflattering comparison because I
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: don't think it's I think I think Ryan's got some
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: some real riz on Tate Reeves. But Ryan owns this comparison.
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: I think it's the hair and the glasses when Ryan
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: was doing Rising did look like this.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: That the hair and makeup woman at Rising when we
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: were co hosting there definitely gave Ryan the Tate Reeves.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: Wow. Well for for audio only listeners, Tate Reeves looks
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: like if Ryan was not on ozem pic and high tea,
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: this is a low t.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: He's the Republican was the Republican governor of Mississippi.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: So all right, well, I think on that note, that's
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: going to do it for us on this Friday show.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: It was a Griffin and Emily show. We really we
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: barely made it, but we did. We are here and uh,
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: I think we did. Okay.
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: I thought we did. Okay, I'd give us a five
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: out of ten. I thought we.
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: I was going to suggest we do a review of
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: the new Army Hammer films Citizen Vigilante, Oh.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: An Ouie Bowl flick, So look forward to that potentially
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: as a weekend clip sometime. Have you seen those clips?
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: They're terrible, They're so bad.
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, they's so bad.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: The funniest part of all of it is that Armie
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: Hammer says he cried when watching the footage. It's like, bro, like,
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: how are you surprised you shot the footage?
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: You're the one thing I didn't cover this on after Party.
