- 0:00Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome, welcome, welcome. It
- 0:03Speaker 1: is time now for One-on-One with the Pro. And we've
- 0:06Speaker 1: got Becky Gailey in here with us from Truity Credit Union.
- 0:09Speaker 1: And young lady, you have been busy. You have been busy, busy,
- 0:13Speaker 1: busy getting people all signed up to buy houses and everything. Yes.
- 0:16Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm doing good. It's been a good summer. How are you?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Wonderful, wonderful. So not only are the temperatures hot, so
- 0:26Speaker 1: is the weather. The real estate market, I guess. Because
- 0:29Speaker 1: if people are buying houses, that's a good thing. Yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And if they're calling you, it's an even better thing. Yes.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Tell us about the rates.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Rates are a little volatile right now. Rates are up.
- 0:41Speaker 2: But I'm still... It's still a great time to buy.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It is.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I will always say that. It's a good thing to
- 0:47Speaker 2: be a homeowner. There's never a bad time. I think
- 0:51Speaker 2: right now it's better for buyers because there is more...
- 0:55Speaker 2: I mean, there's more houses... They're on the market. They're
- 0:59Speaker 2: staying longer. I know rates are up, but as a buyer,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you still have more negotiating power, I think. It's more
- 1:11Speaker 2: advantageous to you as a buyer because you can negotiate
- 1:14Speaker 2: closing costs. I mean, you can ask for the moon
- 1:18Speaker 2: right now, really.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And probably get it.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and the worst they could say is no.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That is awesome. Now, I will tell you, I am
- 1:27Speaker 1: old enough to remember, personally, when rates were in double
- 1:33Speaker 1: digits to buy a home.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And that shakes with me. So every time I see
- 1:38Speaker 1: them in single digits, I'm saying, what are you worried about, kid?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Buy that home.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You know, this is an awesome time. Yeah. And, of course,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know, Bartlesville is a destination for a lot of people.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Not only for young professionals coming in, we also have
- 1:53Speaker 1: folks who are moving in because of other jobs that
- 1:56Speaker 1: are being provided here in Bartlesville. Other people are just
- 1:59Speaker 1: taking advantage of what a great town. We even have
- 2:02Speaker 1: seniors moving here for their golden years. So we've got
- 2:06Speaker 1: them all across the spectrum coming in.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of first-time homebuyers I've been talking to
- 2:11Speaker 2: and trying to educate. People moving in with the company.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Blue Whale is hiring a lot of people, which is amazing.
- 2:20Speaker 2: And so just, yeah, across the board, just like you said,
- 2:23Speaker 2: it's all buyers, really.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It is. And we've got to have some bricks and
- 2:27Speaker 1: sticks to live in, don't we? Yes.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yes, we do.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Now, do you help out people who are looking to
- 2:33Speaker 1: perhaps purchase a little land and build their own home? Yeah. Uh-huh.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I just did one the other day. Yep, we can
- 2:39Speaker 2: do land. If you want to just secure the land
- 2:42Speaker 2: now and then maybe in a year or two, three years,
- 2:44Speaker 2: we can do a construction loan for you to build
- 2:47Speaker 2: your forever home. We can do that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: My goodness sakes, you take a lot of the objections
- 2:52Speaker 1: away real quick, don't you?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I try.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Because you fill them up with positives. Here's the upside
- 2:58Speaker 1: of this. I like the way Truity works because, you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: when you ask a question, you might have a variety
- 3:06Speaker 1: of different ways that you can actually go. There's not
- 3:10Speaker 1: always one answer. There are usually several options, and I
- 3:14Speaker 1: like that.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And if I don't know the answer, I know somebody
- 3:17Speaker 2: that does.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You got a whole house full of them down there.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Downtown. That's the incredible thing is the wealth of institutional
- 3:25Speaker 1: knowledge that we have right here in our hometown institution,
- 3:29Speaker 1: Truity Credit Union. Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 2: There's a lot of smart people in the building for sure.
- 3:34Speaker 1: You're one of them. You ought to know.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 3:36Speaker 1: You've been working really hard. Now, Truity, you guys are
- 3:41Speaker 1: growing like crazy. We've got the Pawhuska thing going. Ready
- 3:44Speaker 1: to roll. Got to go down to Collinsville.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yes, you heard about that.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I did. That is crazy good.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I know. Hopefully next summer we'll have some brick and mortar. Hopefully.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So, you know, once again, on the move. And, of course,
- 3:58Speaker 1: our locations right here in Barnesville are splendid. You got
- 4:01Speaker 1: the modern art down there on Washington. Then downtown, you
- 4:06Speaker 1: got the mural, which... I know people get a little
- 4:09Speaker 1: tired of me saying this, but I always see something
- 4:11Speaker 1: different there.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It probably was there the last time I just didn't
- 4:15Speaker 1: notice it. But, you know, that's kind of like my
- 4:17Speaker 1: personal challenge when I go downtown. And then I get
- 4:22Speaker 1: my business taken care of. So if I look like
- 4:24Speaker 1: a doting old man out there, folks, don't worry about it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You know, I'm just entertaining myself before I get the
- 4:28Speaker 1: professional help I need, financially, that is.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Did you look at all the pictures, too, around the building?
- 4:33Speaker 2: They're so good.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They are. They are. It's really incredible. But the thing is,
- 4:38Speaker 1: it's the people inside. One thing that is really amazing
- 4:44Speaker 1: about the services you offer at Truity is that there
- 4:49Speaker 1: are accessible people. If you can't make it in, you
- 4:53Speaker 1: can go to the website, and you've got this little
- 4:58Speaker 1: chat person you can talk to yeah that's amazing because
- 5:01Speaker 1: that that's it's in real time that's not just you
- 5:05Speaker 1: know hey we'll get back with you later uh you
- 5:08Speaker 1: know during the daytime i mean it's a real honest
- 5:11Speaker 1: to goodness live and breathe and so uh on top
- 5:14Speaker 1: of that you have modern technology those am i saying
- 5:17Speaker 1: this itms itms yes that that is so like space.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Age cool I know, but really, they're not that scary, honestly.
- 5:27Speaker 1: They're not. They're cool.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's the same thing as going through the drive-thru.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You do everything right there at the ITM. You can
- 5:35Speaker 2: talk to a teller, too. It's the same thing.
- 5:38Speaker 1: My goodness sakes. The culture there at Truity is quite infectious.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It's really neat. It's that can-do spirit. It's that let's-get-it-done spirit,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and it's this community spirit that I see that just
- 5:53Speaker 1: permeates the whole building. I mean, I've told you this before.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I not only see you in here or at Truity,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but I see you out at social functions. I see
- 6:03Speaker 1: everybody I know from Truity at social functions or at
- 6:07Speaker 1: charity functions or at civic functions because you're all so
- 6:11Speaker 1: intermeshed with our community.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I know. I think that's the great thing about Truity
- 6:16Speaker 2: is how involved everyone is in the community even across
- 6:20Speaker 2: the board like in Kansas I mean everywhere we're so
- 6:24Speaker 2: into the community and we've been I guess logging our
- 6:29Speaker 2: volunteer hours trying to as a as a whole as
- 6:33Speaker 2: a as the company wide and we just recorded our
- 6:37Speaker 2: biggest month of volunteers so far with Company-wide, which it's
- 6:42Speaker 2: 230 hours of volunteer throughout the company, which I think
- 6:46Speaker 2: is major, just shows how awesome Truity is.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Well, you know, you also have this little wagon that
- 6:55Speaker 1: shows up at a lot of charity functions. Yes. And
- 6:58Speaker 1: it's going to be up there at the car show
- 7:00Speaker 1: this weekend, too. And it's kind of neat because, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 1: whenever you see Truity and you associate it with good things,
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's always a good mindset, and that's kind of where
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm coming from here. Now, let's get back to wanting
- 7:16Speaker 1: to buy a home or going about it. You're not
- 7:19Speaker 1: a realtor, but you lend, but you know a lot
- 7:23Speaker 1: of the real estate game because that's what it's all
- 7:25Speaker 1: about here. So, like you said, if folks have questions,
- 7:30Speaker 1: they can make an appointment with you, go over a
- 7:32Speaker 1: few things. Like you said, you've got a whole staff
- 7:35Speaker 1: of people who can just, Pop right in and say, hey,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I got that. Oh, yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 2: They can come in any time to talk. They can call, text, email, whatever. Oh, really?
- 7:44Speaker 2: That's the great thing is that we're around. We're here.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, the market is we were talking about. We
- 7:53Speaker 1: have plenty of room for buyers because we do have
- 7:57Speaker 1: units that are up for sale.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:59Speaker 1: We also have some ground around town, too. Yes. So
- 8:02Speaker 1: it's not like you're boxed out.
- 8:04Speaker 2: No. Mm-mm.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Mm-mm. When you said you're in charge, you have an advantage.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I believe that because, you know, despite the, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 1: the rates being, you know, not too like it was
- 8:17Speaker 1: a couple of years ago.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Right, which is never going to happen.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Never going to happen. Yeah. You might as well, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: it doesn't hurt to buy dirt, as.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Somebody once told me. 100%, yes. And the rates are
- 8:29Speaker 2: higher than they have been, but they're still not, it's
- 8:32Speaker 2: not detrimental.
- 8:33Speaker 1: No.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And we can still work with it. You can refinance.
- 8:38Speaker 2: There's always an option to refinance when the rates do
- 8:41Speaker 2: go back down because they will. And so this time.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I've known people who've done that. And that worked out
- 8:48Speaker 1: fantastically for them.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Because they never otherwise would have had their dream house. Right.
- 8:54Speaker 1: They were able to do it at maybe a rate
- 8:55Speaker 1: that they went in and they went ahead and did it.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And a few years later, you know, and things do
- 9:02Speaker 1: go in cycles. And suddenly you're like, they're in love
- 9:05Speaker 1: with their house again. Again!
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. And so I think now with the
- 9:11Speaker 2: rates being where they are, you're getting more educated buyers
- 9:16Speaker 2: that aren't as quick to jump as they were back
- 9:19Speaker 2: during the COVID days. And they're asking more questions, which
- 9:23Speaker 2: is a good thing when buying a house because it's
- 9:25Speaker 2: one of the biggest investments of your life. And I
- 9:29Speaker 2: think overall... They're more prepared buyers, which is always good.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And there's always a little help out there. Veterans, I understand.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You have options there that coincide with what you do?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you can do, there's FHA loans, which are easier
- 9:50Speaker 2: for first-time homebuyers to get approved. I call those temporary loans.
- 9:57Speaker 2: We can talk more about that later. Or you can
- 9:59Speaker 2: do VA loans. which is another government-backed loan, and then
- 10:02Speaker 2: conventional loans.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And you walk people through these too? Yes. So we
- 10:08Speaker 1: don't lose you in this process. We get to keep you.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I will always hold your hand.
- 10:12Speaker 1: All right, good. I think that's important for people to know.
- 10:16Speaker 1: You're not going to be switched off to somebody.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And if maybe... It doesn't work out where they can't
- 10:21Speaker 2: get approved right now, but I talk through how they
- 10:26Speaker 2: can maybe build their credit or work on your debt ratio.
- 10:29Speaker 2: We go through steps on what you need to do
- 10:33Speaker 2: or what you should be doing to help you get
- 10:35Speaker 2: approved to buy a home in the future.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I'm just going to say this to the young people.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It's always a good idea to want to buy a home,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but you need to know what it takes, and Becky
- 10:45Speaker 1: can walk you right through.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Definitely happy.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Very happy. You know, when that time comes, when things
- 10:53Speaker 1: are right for you, she's going to be there for
- 10:58Speaker 1: you to help you get the home you want.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Always. And another thing about Truity is that it's we're,
- 11:04Speaker 2: of course, local and the whole team is here. So
- 11:08Speaker 2: from me, where you start the process to. When you
- 11:12Speaker 2: go under contract and your loan's in processing and underwriting,
- 11:16Speaker 2: and then when we close and we service the loan
- 11:19Speaker 2: and you go to make your payments, we're all right
- 11:22Speaker 2: here in Bartlesville, which I don't know of any other
- 11:26Speaker 2: lender that could say that.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That's amazing, too. And you know what? That's a relief
- 11:30Speaker 1: and a comfort to a lot of people.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think it's important.
- 11:33Speaker 1: You're going to see her. You're going to know her.
- 11:37Speaker 1: You're going to know her name, and she's going to
- 11:38Speaker 1: be with you through the whole process. And you live here, too. Yes.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Which is great. It's not like you're visiting just to
- 11:46Speaker 1: sign a loan.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Nope. We live, work, and play here.
- 11:49Speaker 1: That is key, and that's why we often say that
- 11:53Speaker 1: Truity Credit Union, a better way to bank.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:57Speaker 1: There you go. Now, your website is wonderful, and it's concise,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and it doesn't speak to me like a lawyer.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's easy to navigate. Exactly.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Very easy to navigate. I don't get lost, which is
- 12:11Speaker 1: important because I'm looking up there. And it answers so
- 12:17Speaker 1: many questions. And I don't know who your technical people are,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but hats off to them. They do a great job.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I'll tell them.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Plus, they can put me in touch with you if
- 12:25Speaker 1: I need you.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yes, for sure.
- 12:27Speaker 1: That is awesome.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And if you can't find what you're looking for, you
- 12:31Speaker 2: just open up that little chat box that you were
- 12:33Speaker 2: talking about and you can find it.
- 12:36Speaker 1: They'll find it. Yeah, the chat box, a human will
- 12:39Speaker 1: get that. That is a human. We'll get the information
- 12:43Speaker 1: you need. I'll tell you that it's quicker than I thought.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I thought that this was going to be one of
- 12:50Speaker 1: these things that, you know, I got kind of a
- 12:53Speaker 1: complicated question. This probably might take a couple hours. I'll
- 12:56Speaker 1: carve out an afternoon for this. No, a couple minutes. Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It was a couple minutes, and the rest of my
- 13:02Speaker 1: day was just heavenly because I didn't have any stress.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I know. I used it the other day, too, maybe
- 13:08Speaker 2: a month or so ago.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 2: You even use it, too?
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I did.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, for some on my account. And then, yeah, she
- 13:15Speaker 2: answered right away. It was super quick.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Well, Shazam. Shazam. So if folks want to get a
- 13:24Speaker 1: hold of you, do they get a hold of you
- 13:25Speaker 1: through the website? Do they get a hold of you
- 13:27Speaker 1: by phone? You'll answer your phone.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. You can do the website. There's an option
- 13:32Speaker 2: if you go into the home loan section. You should
- 13:35Speaker 2: see a picture of me. You just click on it
- 13:36Speaker 2: and you can contact me. Or you can call me
- 13:40Speaker 2: at work. My number is 918-337-7625. Or you can come in.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Do you have, like, applications available online that people can
- 13:50Speaker 1: look at so they can get an idea of what's
- 13:52Speaker 1: going on?
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yep. They can go online to do our application. Yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 2: super easy.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Preliminary application. Son of a gun. You guys think of everything.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Takes about 15 minutes, I'd say.
- 14:04Speaker 1: If that. Yeah. If that, you know. And once again,
- 14:07Speaker 1: that is TrudyCU.org. That's TrudyCU.org.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:13Speaker 1: It'll take you to anywhere you want. It'll even take
- 14:16Speaker 1: you to Becky if you ask it. Yeah. But once again,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I want to thank you for coming in. Is there
- 14:21Speaker 1: anything I missed? Because I'd hate to have you here
- 14:24Speaker 1: and then have to yell out the door, Becky, we
- 14:26Speaker 1: missed her!
- 14:27Speaker 2: No, I'm just happy to be here. Happy to be
- 14:31Speaker 2: in our community. And if anybody has questions about home
- 14:35Speaker 2: loans or even general questions on what it takes, I'm
- 14:38Speaker 2: happy to help always.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Thank you very much. I appreciate you coming in here today. Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 1: All righty. Good luck. Okay.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Folks, you've been watching and listening to our One-on-One with
- 14:49Speaker 1: the Pro right here on K1, The One You Trust.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Thanks for listening to One-on-One with a Professional, a paid
- 14:59Speaker 1: presentation of 1400 K1.
