- 0:00Speaker 1: There he is very is how's it going everybody?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Now?
- 0:04Speaker 3: Look, Dan and Joelle have both changed up their backgrounds,
- 0:09Speaker 3: and you appear to have a dress case you might
- 0:11Speaker 3: wear today hanging.
- 0:13Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 0:14Speaker 3: No, what's that dress for you?
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's not for me? First of all, hold on, how
- 0:22Speaker 1: are you?
- 0:22Speaker 3: I miss you?
- 0:23Speaker 1: No, well you don't because you started off with some
- 0:26Speaker 1: type of rude shit.
- 0:27Speaker 3: You know what was rude about saying, is Casey gonna
- 0:30Speaker 3: wear that dress that's hanging?
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's a very When I said she wasn't gonna wear
- 0:33Speaker 1: that today, you automatically asked if it was for me?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Right now? I am one who doesn't mind dress is
- 0:44Speaker 1: hanging in the background. You, however, seem to have a
- 0:47Speaker 1: phobia of it.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I think my point was in the spirit you're dress
- 0:50Speaker 3: a phobia, in the spirit of everyone changing their backgrounds.
- 0:55Speaker 3: All three of you have a new background, and you
- 0:59Speaker 3: do not. You're not drinking coffee.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I've turned over a new leaf. I don't know if
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know this, but it's.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Time for another leaf. What leaf did you turn over
- 1:08Speaker 3: this morning?
- 1:09Speaker 1: I've turned forty six? Yes, Donald, thank you, everyone, thank you.
- 1:15Speaker 3: This will get wearing late. Everyone but Donald's birthday was
- 1:18Speaker 3: the twenty second.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yes, and I turned forty six years old. And I
- 1:22Speaker 1: want to thank everybody for all the love that you've
- 1:25Speaker 1: given me. And I want to say to all my
- 1:28Speaker 1: fans out there that listen to the podcast and all
- 1:31Speaker 1: of Zach's fans that listen to the podcast, it's working.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Come join the dark side. Oh yeah, combine strength, we
- 1:41Speaker 1: can rule this galaxy.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I saw a lot of talk on my Instagram about
- 1:46Speaker 3: how how everyone needs to follow Donald and some girl
- 1:49Speaker 3: wrote you need to help Donald get more followers because
- 1:52Speaker 3: he quote caught feelings or something like that. I thought
- 1:55Speaker 3: that was a funny. Did you catch feelings?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Who doesn't catch? I always catch, always catch feelings?
- 2:01Speaker 3: You got feeling about it? By the way, your wife
- 2:03Speaker 3: slid into my DMS today because she was not happy
- 2:06Speaker 3: with the picture I posted a view. It's an old picture,
- 2:11Speaker 3: by the way, obviously, because we're lying on a chaise
- 2:13Speaker 3: lounge together and it's we're in quarantine. But Donald was
- 2:17Speaker 3: during one of his heavier periods and his wife slid
- 2:21Speaker 3: into my DMS to be like, why are you posting
- 2:24Speaker 3: that picture of top? She said?
- 2:25Speaker 1: She said to me, she said, did you see the
- 2:27Speaker 1: picture of Zach posted. I was like, yeah. She was
- 2:29Speaker 1: like he couldn't crop anything.
- 2:31Speaker 3: That's what she said. She said, you couldn't get a friend,
- 2:35Speaker 3: he couldn't and do some cropping.
- 2:37Speaker 1: He couldn't have cropped that. I was like, crap. What
- 2:42Speaker 1: she was like your belly?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Oh shit, Well, I didn't know. I love you so much.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I didn't notice that you were in that picture having
- 2:49Speaker 3: a large belly. Time. I thought you looked.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Very handsome and thank you very much wife.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Your wife was like crop that ship?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah right, and and and you know, I I think
- 3:00Speaker 1: everyone out there deserves someone like I have. I have
- 3:04Speaker 1: a wonderful woman who uh is very supportive and takes
- 3:09Speaker 1: care of situations that I might be a little bit
- 3:13Speaker 1: uh you know, apprehensive to no, no, no, yeah, you know.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Instead of me being like, well why did Zach post
- 3:21Speaker 1: that and get upset at Zach, I'll stay away from
- 3:24Speaker 1: the confrontation and the conflict. Whereas my wife's like, no, no, no,
- 3:28Speaker 1: we ain't letting that shit slide. What's what's what's Zach's number?
- 3:32Speaker 1: And she will call you on. She's like the.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Mom, I know some people that are very gifted at photoshop.
- 3:37Speaker 3: If you want, I could I could take off some
- 3:39Speaker 3: pounds from that picture for you.
- 3:40Speaker 1: No, no, no, I like, I mean, I think all
- 3:43Speaker 1: of me is beautiful.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Can an extra I could paint in abs?
- 3:47Speaker 1: No, no, no, I think I think all Like I said,
- 3:49Speaker 1: all of me is beautiful, even the extra. Just ask
- 3:53Speaker 1: my wife.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You know, it's funny that we're starting off a little
- 3:57Speaker 3: bit confrontational because in this episode, do you remember what happened?
- 4:02Speaker 3: We got in a fight. We got in probably our
- 4:04Speaker 3: first fight.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I don't remember when.
- 4:07Speaker 3: This was during the lasso thing in the ICU fantasy.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Because I was pulling you too hard.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Told me way too hard.
- 4:15Speaker 1: And screamed like a like, no, don't say I got
- 4:21Speaker 1: hurt because you were fucking really legit.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yanking me across the ground with your.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Lasso and you were like, don't pull me so hard.
- 4:29Speaker 3: No, And then we got in a fight, and I
- 4:30Speaker 3: think the rest of that scene we're like not speaking
- 4:33Speaker 3: to each other.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Really, you don't remember this.
- 4:35Speaker 3: When I watched this episode, I went, oh, that was
- 4:37Speaker 3: like our first time we got in a legit argument.
- 4:40Speaker 3: And then we had to like do the rest of
- 4:42Speaker 3: the scene, I think, and we were did.
- 4:45Speaker 1: We make up before the rap party? Because right After
- 4:47Speaker 1: this we moved to New York together.
- 4:49Speaker 3: We must have dude. I think it was like a
- 4:50Speaker 3: few day TIFFs. We had a few day TIFFs.
- 4:54Speaker 1: What have you been doing with your time? You went
- 4:56Speaker 1: away for a bit? What did you do?
- 4:58Speaker 3: The gall and I went to Joshua Tree to get
- 5:01Speaker 3: out to go to the desert.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Did you get out? Did you see anything? Did you
- 5:05Speaker 1: see rattlesnakes?
- 5:07Speaker 3: We saw lots of bunnies. I think they're bunnies. Hairs
- 5:10Speaker 3: are large, right, I didn't know if it was a
- 5:11Speaker 3: hair or a bunny. I think it was a bunny.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think a hair is really large and bunnies are
- 5:15Speaker 1: really tin. I don't know. Man, there's jack rabbits too
- 5:18Speaker 1: that are.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Listen the puppy. Everywhere the puppy went, it was getting
- 5:23Speaker 3: cactus thorns. Are they thorns in a cactus? Yes? All
- 5:28Speaker 3: over its paws. So we didn't know what to do.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So we got baby socks and we put the baby
- 5:36Speaker 3: socks on the puppy, but the baby socks kept falling off,
- 5:39Speaker 3: so then we got rubber bands and tied them around
- 5:44Speaker 3: the top of the baby socks so their booties would
- 5:46Speaker 3: stay on the dog's paws.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Did it cut the circulation off of the dogs.
- 5:51Speaker 3: We're not idiots, dude. It wasn't like super tight, but
- 5:54Speaker 3: we did it so the socks wouldn't fall off. So
- 5:56Speaker 3: then the dog is running around with four little babies
- 6:00Speaker 3: ox on because we must have done Oh man, it
- 6:06Speaker 3: was You can't bring a dog to Joshua Tree, or
- 6:09Speaker 3: if you can, you're more experienced dog owner than we are.
- 6:12Speaker 3: The dog couldn't figure it out. We couldn't figure it out.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Wait, so you took you you brought your kid on
- 6:18Speaker 1: vacation with you.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Pretty much, Yeah, that's what you do.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Well, you could have kindled the dog and then no.
- 6:25Speaker 3: No, no, well I don't mind a kennel for an
- 6:29Speaker 3: older dog. This is I mean, especially the kennel we
- 6:31Speaker 3: go do is like they run around and they're and
- 6:33Speaker 3: they're free and they're not like caged, and I'm down
- 6:36Speaker 3: with that. But but more often than not, I would
- 6:39Speaker 3: sooner get a house sitter, some a friend of mine too,
- 6:43Speaker 3: or my my assistant to stay here and and take
- 6:47Speaker 3: care of the dog here. But we it's our baby,
- 6:49Speaker 3: so we you know, you wouldn't want to leave your newborn.
- 6:51Speaker 3: It's like our newborn. So we brought it to the desert.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But it was a mistake because now I know in hindsight,
- 6:57Speaker 3: they sell like legit dog boots.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh, you need to get your dogs some elevens man
- 7:03Speaker 1: some Jordan eleven and that'd.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Be so funny. By the way, if they made dog Jordan's,
- 7:07Speaker 3: I would get or dog easies.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean the easies might be a little
- 7:12Speaker 1: bit more expensive than the Jordan elevens.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You know, dog easies would be hilarious. I would if
- 7:17Speaker 3: anyone makes those on like Etsy, I'll take them. But yeah, no,
- 7:21Speaker 3: they'd make legit dog booties. But we didn't have those,
- 7:24Speaker 3: so we we we Jerry rigged some baby socks, made
- 7:28Speaker 3: a trick to a giant Walmart. We gloved up and
- 7:30Speaker 3: masked up and went into like the biggest Walmart.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So what is the deal? I thought you didn't necessarily
- 7:37Speaker 1: need to glove up anymore.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I don't. I'm just I'm just I'm just trying to
- 7:41Speaker 3: be as serious. You know, cases are spiking here in California,
- 7:45Speaker 3: so I'm trying to be as serious as possible.
- 7:47Speaker 1: But is it okay? This is what I read, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: I could be wrong, Dan Joel, please jump in if
- 7:53Speaker 1: I am wrong. And if I'm right, jump in as well.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But I was under the impression that a lot of
- 7:59Speaker 1: the spike that we're having in California, this all could
- 8:02Speaker 1: be propaganda, are delayed tests that have finally come in,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and that we're testing more people than most states, and
- 8:12Speaker 1: so because of that.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But the President is broadcasting that.
- 8:16Speaker 1: No, I wasn't. I didn't get this from the President.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I got this from California. Actually, the president's broadcasting, yes,
- 8:24Speaker 1: that we are getting spikes because of our testing situation.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But California, from what I was told, was we had,
- 8:33Speaker 1: at least from what I heard from Newsom and what
- 8:35Speaker 1: I heard from Garcetti and all of that stuff like that,
- 8:38Speaker 1: is that we had flattened the curve and we were climbing.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But we were climbing because more tests were coming in.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Well, let's test Dan, He's very knowledgeable.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Dan, you honor me. You know, we are definitely. Donald
- 8:50Speaker 4: is certainly right that as we test more, we are
- 8:52Speaker 4: seeing more positive cases. I think the measure of wearing
- 8:55Speaker 4: gloves at places like the supermarket, I think is not
- 8:58Speaker 4: necessarily over As you know, you're bringing your germs out
- 9:02Speaker 4: into the world, and who knows how many of those
- 9:04Speaker 4: cans someone has already touched, et cetera. I mean, I
- 9:07Speaker 4: think all safety measures are good. The best one you
- 9:09Speaker 4: can take is not touching your face before you come
- 9:12Speaker 4: back and wash your hands, and yeah right that We wash.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Our stuff too when we go to the grocery store.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm here.
- 9:18Speaker 3: We we spray and wash everything down because you don't
- 9:21Speaker 3: know if someone with COVID took that off the shelf
- 9:24Speaker 3: and was like, oh, I don't need it, and then
- 9:25Speaker 3: you grabbed it exactly.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But the but from what I heard, from what the
- 9:28Speaker 1: CDC said, and from what a lot of doctors said,
- 9:31Speaker 1: it's not necessary. You can't necessarily get it from surface contact.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It has to be it droplets and airborne. From what
- 9:39Speaker 1: I understand, I.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Don't know if that's true.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Maybe this is what the CDC is saying.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I know, but don't be fucking steering our listeners wrong, because.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You're like, I'm not staring anybody. I'm not steering anybody wrong.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying what I heard. I don't know.
- 9:51Speaker 3: What about Djokovic. Huh, what about Djokovic?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I know Djokovic got that ship, dude.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Yeah, because he's fucking partying with his like and doing
- 9:59Speaker 3: like sweaty chest to chest hugs.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Really do you saw this for you know this for
- 10:04Speaker 1: a fact.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I read this on the interwebs that he there's video
- 10:07Speaker 3: of him raging at like some I think it was
- 10:09Speaker 3: a Croatian tennis tournament. And then at that tournament they
- 10:13Speaker 3: were doing like after the match, like sweaty naked chest
- 10:18Speaker 3: to chest hugs. Wow, and now he's out. He's about
- 10:21Speaker 3: to start a tournament, right Dan. Was it the French openers?
- 10:24Speaker 3: I think so?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, he can't ship. He got there, he got that ship.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Now are they here? I don't want to upset Bill.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Are they in the room?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Can't hear you?
- 10:32Speaker 3: Damn new mic Ironically the tech wizard can't figure out
- 10:37Speaker 3: his new fucking MinC. It's okay, let's have a party.
- 10:49Speaker 3: It's the final episode of season one. Hey, I love
- 10:57Speaker 3: that she's representing.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Hi got how Charlotte Lawrence.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You're representing with your Charlotte Lawrence merch always Now to
- 11:06Speaker 3: remind our listeners, when COVID began, Christa told Bill that
- 11:12Speaker 3: he would be She set up a guest room in
- 11:14Speaker 3: the house and she said, Bill, that's your office. You're
- 11:19Speaker 3: allowed to come out for lunch. But you worked there
- 11:22Speaker 3: nine to five, now, right, Bill.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not.
- 11:26Speaker 5: I don't think she was even comfortable with the idea
- 11:27Speaker 5: of me venturing out to do this together, so I
- 11:29Speaker 5: still have to stay down in here.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Well, Bill wanted to be in my office together doing it,
- 11:37Speaker 6: which would have been squashed and he would have stopped
- 11:39Speaker 6: hugged me, so I said, no, he's got to go downstairs.
- 11:43Speaker 1: We were hoping to get a stop hugg on this.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Listen. I want to tell you that, Bill, this is
- 11:49Speaker 3: so annoying to me because it involves shit that you've said.
- 11:53Speaker 3: But they sent us, you know, merch options for the podcast,
- 11:57Speaker 3: and there's like one hug that says stop hug. There's
- 12:01Speaker 3: another mug that says five to six seven eight. I'm like,
- 12:04Speaker 3: this is all the fucking Bill's jokes.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Here's the this is the real I appreciate this. The
- 12:11Speaker 5: five six seven eights. I think that's funny and that
- 12:13Speaker 5: doesn't count as one Dan, but I am the boss
- 12:25Speaker 5: of this show.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We didn't even get into two minutes of the podcast.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Wanted to be the first one to do the song
- 12:31Speaker 5: before the song, so the but what but what bums
- 12:35Speaker 5: me out is that stop hug is a real and
- 12:38Speaker 5: cherished thing, and now it's a joke that's out there,
- 12:40Speaker 5: and I don't like that at all.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I don't like other people joke.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it's I think it's important in our relationship, and
- 12:47Speaker 5: I think that you secretly love it.
- 12:50Speaker 7: No, I don't.
- 12:53Speaker 1: So a second. Let me think this straight, Krista, if
- 12:56Speaker 1: stop hug was to go away forever, you would be happy.
- 13:01Speaker 8: I'd be good myself.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I found myself recently wanting a hug from my girlfriend
- 13:10Speaker 3: and when she was busy, and I kind of tried
- 13:12Speaker 3: to do a stop hug and she was not a
- 13:15Speaker 3: fan of the stop hug because she was making dinner.
- 13:19Speaker 3: But I was like, mine, can I have a stop hug?
- 13:23Speaker 2: You guys can talk. You guys can all talk about
- 13:26Speaker 2: stop hugs going away as if that's a real thing.
- 13:28Speaker 2: But it's like a fake premise. They're never going.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Away and they will they will always always be part
- 13:35Speaker 5: of my and my wife's life.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Listen, you know you know who loves the stop You
- 13:39Speaker 1: know who loves a stop hug. Case Cobb loves to
- 13:42Speaker 1: stop really Yeah? Yeah, yeah, so I can get I
- 13:45Speaker 1: mean she she, I take it back. There are times
- 13:48Speaker 1: where I'm like, let's hug, and she gives me the
- 13:51Speaker 1: face like, goddamn it, we just did that ship five
- 13:53Speaker 1: minutes ago.
- 13:54Speaker 2: But Donald, Donald, those are the best stop hugs man.
- 13:57Speaker 3: That is.
- 13:59Speaker 1: When she when she rolls her eyes right before we hug.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I am so excited.
- 14:04Speaker 9: Oh my god.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Yeah, thinking about it nothing better than when you know
- 14:08Speaker 5: for sure they don't want it.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 14:11Speaker 6: I mean, we can go into a longer discussion about boundaries,
- 14:15Speaker 6: but perhaps it's not something we want to address.
- 14:18Speaker 2: No, I don't think people want to do that on
- 14:21Speaker 2: a fun podcast.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I think you guys are a very adorable couple because
- 14:25Speaker 3: you keep it fresh. You have a little bit of
- 14:28Speaker 3: a bickery banter, but you very much love each other.
- 14:33Speaker 5: That is true, Yes, and that was nice to say
- 14:36Speaker 5: a little bit of a bickery banter.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I love well. I've been on I've been on vacation
- 14:40Speaker 3: with you guys, so I know that at times it
- 14:42Speaker 3: might peak a little higher.
- 14:46Speaker 6: And then I get and then usually when it peaks,
- 14:48Speaker 6: I get a talking to from Zach.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like their therapist when we're on vacation. I'll
- 14:54Speaker 3: be like, guys, guys, guys. Both of my parents were therapists.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Let me let me do a little work on you to.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Tag in.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Hey Donald, belated happy birthday buddy, Thank you.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Brother, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm forty six
- 15:08Speaker 1: years old now.
- 15:09Speaker 2: You're a young looking man. Just to know that I.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Will accept and receive that, thank you very much.
- 15:15Speaker 7: Uh.
- 15:15Speaker 1: We had. I had a great day yesterday. The day
- 15:17Speaker 1: before my birthday was Father's Day. So I've had two
- 15:20Speaker 1: days in a row of just straight up appreciation from
- 15:24Speaker 1: my family, even if they were faking it. Even if
- 15:26Speaker 1: it was fake. Becau wasn't real, It's still warmed my
- 15:30Speaker 1: heart for two days. And I knew it was fake
- 15:32Speaker 1: when at midnight when I was like trying to, you know,
- 15:37Speaker 1: say good night to the wife, she was like, ah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I'm going to bed, And I was like, I guess
- 15:42Speaker 1: birthday's over. Huh, yeah, said it's over.
- 15:46Speaker 2: You know how you know what you just said.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Even if it fakes, even if it's fake, it still
- 15:51Speaker 5: feels great.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Not unlike a stop hug.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Not like a stophugg, Not unlike a stophug. I've learned.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I've learned to appreciate the annoyed because I know underneath
- 16:04Speaker 1: all of that there is love. So you know what
- 16:07Speaker 1: I will accept receive.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Well, I want you guys to know the level of
- 16:10Speaker 3: Casey's love of Bill and Christa that I posted a
- 16:13Speaker 3: really beautiful shot of Donald and I today on my
- 16:15Speaker 3: Instagram and it was it's an old picture obviously because
- 16:18Speaker 3: we're lying next to you.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Sorry, oh my god.
- 16:21Speaker 3: And Christy is the CHRISTI is the person in my
- 16:24Speaker 3: life who corrects that the most. And I'm nervous. I
- 16:29Speaker 3: find myself when I'm about to use the and me
- 16:31Speaker 3: or and I around Kristap being nervous, be like which one.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That's a hard one? That's a hard No.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Christ has a trick, Christa, do you teach the audience
- 16:38Speaker 3: your trick? Because I never learned this in school.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Well, if you're saying a picture with me, then you
- 16:46Speaker 6: wouldn't say with I right right now.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But you told me. You told me a thing where
- 16:51Speaker 3: you remove the other person and you just and you
- 16:54Speaker 3: just say how you would say it if you were
- 16:55Speaker 3: just saying with me or with I.
- 16:58Speaker 6: But you said, there's a cute picture of Donald and me.
- 17:01Speaker 7: There's a cute picture of me.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I see there you go, So I just removed Donald
- 17:06Speaker 3: and I go, there's a cute picture of me. I
- 17:09Speaker 3: wouldn't say there's a cute picture of I.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Thank you, Chris, But do you always have to go
- 17:14Speaker 1: with Donald first? Can you say there's a cute picture
- 17:17Speaker 1: of me and Donald?
- 17:18Speaker 7: No, okay, that's incorrect as well.
- 17:20Speaker 3: There's a cute picture of Donald and me I put
- 17:23Speaker 3: on Instagram, and it's old and Donald is a little hefty.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And wait, hold on, now, hold on if you are, you're.
- 17:29Speaker 3: A hefty in the Picture's unacceptable. Some of the some
- 17:33Speaker 3: of the comments has said things like how many months
- 17:36Speaker 3: is Donald? That kind of thing? And I because I
- 17:43Speaker 3: thought he looked cute, I thought he looked adorable, Like
- 17:46Speaker 3: I know, I'm sure you guys have this as a
- 17:47Speaker 3: married couple. Donald, I have to say, like, oh, I
- 17:49Speaker 3: thought you looked cute. I hate that picture of me.
- 17:51Speaker 3: How dare you pose that.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We have it?
- 17:52Speaker 7: You'll look cute in the picture.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Do I think I look cute?
- 17:55Speaker 2: No?
- 17:56Speaker 3: Exactly, I look cute.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yes, of course, of course he looks cute. That's why
- 17:59Speaker 1: he posted it.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Donald.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Kristen would post a picture of me shirtless and four
- 18:05Speaker 5: hundred pounds overweight and vomit all over my.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Chest if she thought she looked cute at it.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like me as a monster behind them.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's like all of those it's like all of those
- 18:18Speaker 1: ladies that have the picture of them and the baby
- 18:20Speaker 1: and the baby's not even looking and it's kind of like,
- 18:22Speaker 1: you know, got woozy face, but they look great and
- 18:24Speaker 1: they go, oh, look at the cute little baby, and
- 18:26Speaker 1: it's like, not even post for the baby.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like that.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And Casey got mad at your ass or what.
- 18:32Speaker 3: No, So Casey slid into my DMS and was like,
- 18:34Speaker 3: you couldn't have cropped him. And I just thought it
- 18:40Speaker 3: was funny because it was like a good wife looking
- 18:42Speaker 3: out for her husband's belly.
- 18:45Speaker 5: It makes me love Casey even more. Man, by the way,
- 18:47Speaker 5: that's that's another just idyllic couple. Donald, Man, you found
- 18:51Speaker 5: you found the right one there. That's a fucking rock star.
- 18:53Speaker 1: She does love me. Man.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I'm very lucky, but you are. You're both perfect couples.
- 18:58Speaker 3: You both are examples in my life. And I'm not
- 19:00Speaker 3: just saying this because you're on the phone of being
- 19:03Speaker 3: the perfect ying yang for each other. You're both couples.
- 19:06Speaker 3: The men and women are very different from each other,
- 19:09Speaker 3: very different, but compliment each other perfectly.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I think I thought it poetic that Kristal walked away during.
- 19:13Speaker 6: That No, no, no, I just wanted to show Zachi a
- 19:18Speaker 6: picture of he took.
- 19:21Speaker 7: Of Sarah Chalk and myself. That is so cute. How
- 19:27Speaker 7: cute is that?
- 19:28Speaker 3: That's from the Bahamassamamas.
- 19:31Speaker 7: Yeah, and you took it with my camera.
- 19:34Speaker 1: We were just talking about this whole camera situation that
- 19:37Speaker 1: went on during the Scrubs run. Did you have Were
- 19:41Speaker 1: you a big camera fanatic before Brendan Fraser showed up Krista.
- 19:47Speaker 7: Yes, I was.
- 19:49Speaker 6: I Brendan and I bonded over the over cameras.
- 19:54Speaker 7: But yeah, I had.
- 19:55Speaker 6: My mom's third husband was a photographer. I was often taking.
- 20:04Speaker 3: With you guys laughing because she's at third husband.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm laughing because I'm uncomfortable much. Bill started laughing.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I was like, I bet a laugh too.
- 20:14Speaker 3: So don't know why you will get married a third time? Like,
- 20:17Speaker 3: don't you just don't get married? You try it twice
- 20:19Speaker 3: and if it if it's not for you, just stop
- 20:21Speaker 3: getting married. Why can't you are.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Their fourth husband?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Now that one took though, that one took, Yeah, no, yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 5: that one's going all right.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So continue continued anyway, So.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Yeah, so, and I've always and then I stuck to
- 20:34Speaker 6: film because I think it's the most beautiful. And then
- 20:37Speaker 6: anytime I was modeling or you know, doing any shoots,
- 20:41Speaker 6: I would talk to the photographer and buddy up to
- 20:44Speaker 6: them and have them teach me tricks and techniques.
- 20:48Speaker 5: With stoggvery plus, Zach was a nerd. Brandon was Donald.
- 20:52Speaker 5: I never did it. You never did it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: No, I never did it.
- 20:55Speaker 3: We had we had Brandon on and Donald said something.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Like, no, we had Shae or when when she had.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Chase Rana on And we were talking about Brendan's first
- 21:02Speaker 3: episode with the camera and he Donald was like, why
- 21:05Speaker 3: do I have so many polaroid pictures of myself? And
- 21:08Speaker 3: I explained to him that Brendan got you and I
- 21:13Speaker 3: into old school polaroid photography.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 6: Yeah, and also Brendan you got me. Like Brendan, I mean,
- 21:21Speaker 6: I've just gotten back in time with photography. My cameras
- 21:24Speaker 6: just are bigger and clunkier than they were before because
- 21:27Speaker 6: I used the old school ones. But Brendan and I
- 21:29Speaker 6: used to go into his dark room. He hit a
- 21:31Speaker 6: dark room in his house when he used to live
- 21:32Speaker 6: in California, which I loved, and I used to go
- 21:34Speaker 6: over there like once a week and we used to
- 21:35Speaker 6: sit in there for hours. And it made me realize
- 21:38Speaker 6: that Bill would never let me have a dark room
- 21:41Speaker 6: here because he would never see me.
- 21:42Speaker 7: I mean, I would just go in there for Wow.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's also hard to stop hug on the red lights
- 21:48Speaker 3: of the dark I.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Have a question, is it because you would be experimenting
- 21:53Speaker 1: with different exposures or or I mean, I can't imagine
- 21:58Speaker 1: that you take that many pictures that you're going to
- 21:59Speaker 1: just develop everything, like you know what I mean after
- 22:02Speaker 1: you look at the contact sheet? Is it like? I
- 22:05Speaker 1: know that some people go into the darkment and then
- 22:07Speaker 1: they try to create a formula of dip and all
- 22:10Speaker 1: of that stuff where the pictures come out a little
- 22:13Speaker 1: different and everything like that. Is that what it is?
- 22:16Speaker 7: Yeah, there's great techniques to.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Printing film in a dark room that you are messing
- 22:23Speaker 6: with the exposures and with the shadows and trying to
- 22:26Speaker 6: bring maybe a picture with a little under exposed when
- 22:29Speaker 6: you shot it and then you try to fix it
- 22:31Speaker 6: in the dark room.
- 22:32Speaker 7: Things you can do digitally now easily.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It was a lot of fun.
- 22:37Speaker 3: It was a lot of fun doing. I got into
- 22:38Speaker 3: photography in high school because we had a photography class
- 22:41Speaker 3: in high school, and I learned about the dark room,
- 22:43Speaker 3: and I just thought it was so much fun. Now,
- 22:46Speaker 3: of course everyone just does it digitally, but it was
- 22:48Speaker 3: a really fun thing to be experimenting with and doing.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I loved it too.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Did you three all call each other and say we
- 22:55Speaker 5: should make sure we start by talking about something that
- 22:57Speaker 5: Bill doesn't know anything about, so he.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Doesn't talk all the time.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Know nothing about this. I know nothing about this. I'm
- 23:02Speaker 1: just trying to figure out how you know where it
- 23:04Speaker 1: all stemmed from, because Zach believes it stemmed from Brendan.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He believes that that was the beginning of more than me.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Zach, No, no, no, Donald's not remembering anyone. I said
- 23:15Speaker 3: that christ and I were both hobbyists, and then Brendan
- 23:17Speaker 3: brought the world of old school polaroids into our lives.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That's true.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I wanted to tell you that that Krista and Bill
- 23:25Speaker 3: Kristin knows they love cameras of all types. And I
- 23:27Speaker 3: went over to their house for Christmas, and I was
- 23:30Speaker 3: very excited about the present that I had gotten them.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I had found them these really really cool Japanese slippers,
- 23:37Speaker 3: and they were they were cool. I thought they were cool.
- 23:41Speaker 7: And then.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Christa said, here's the present from me and Bill. Mind you,
- 23:46Speaker 3: I hadn't given them the slippers yet, and I open
- 23:49Speaker 3: it up and it is the most gorgeous antique medium
- 23:54Speaker 3: format camera that is like priceless and vintage and special works.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Not only can you use it, but you'd also like
- 24:02Speaker 3: put it on your mantlepiece. And uh. And I'm like,
- 24:05Speaker 3: I'm thinking in my head, holy fuck, I bought them slippers.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Presence always thank you if it makes you, if it
- 24:15Speaker 5: makes you feel any better.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I didn't know what we got you until you opened.
- 24:24Speaker 3: That's funny. That's why you know what?
- 24:29Speaker 1: Before we go any further.
- 24:31Speaker 10: Stories that show we made about a bunch of dogs
- 24:37Speaker 10: and nurses, and he.
- 24:40Speaker 11: Said, here's the stories.
- 24:42Speaker 10: Nets, So gather here, yeather here.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Now we're in. Now, we're in. Now listen. We've been
- 24:57Speaker 3: doing this for a full season. Guys. We we did
- 24:59Speaker 3: not know this would be popular, and it's so fun
- 25:02Speaker 3: that it is. But we could Donald and I couldn't
- 25:04Speaker 3: think of a better way to and the first season
- 25:07Speaker 3: of it than to have you two on. Of course,
- 25:09Speaker 3: because you're both so funny and also, of course Bill,
- 25:13Speaker 3: this is your baby. And thirdly, we thought we might
- 25:16Speaker 3: get you guys bickering, which is always good radio.
- 25:18Speaker 6: Yeah, always thank you and congratulations loving it.
- 25:24Speaker 7: It makes me happy than you.
- 25:27Speaker 5: I listen as a fan and I think, uh, not
- 25:31Speaker 5: only do I love you know, revisiting a show that
- 25:35Speaker 5: I like you guys, I've almost forgotten all of it,
- 25:37Speaker 5: But listening to you guys live out your friendship in
- 25:40Speaker 5: real time on here, it gives me great joy.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It's super fun.
- 25:44Speaker 1: None of this would be possible if it wasn't for you.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So more than anything, thank you, man, Please thank you.
- 25:50Speaker 3: We as we always thank you for the show, but
- 25:52Speaker 3: we we we probably never thank you for the friendship
- 25:55Speaker 3: that you instilled inspired whatever the correct word is. And
- 26:00Speaker 3: uh and that's that's that's the gift that keeps on giving.
- 26:03Speaker 3: My our our our love for each other was born
- 26:05Speaker 3: when when you thought we did the best job in
- 26:07Speaker 3: the audition room. Even though we know now that Donald
- 26:09Speaker 3: fucked up. I could be sitting here doing a podcast
- 26:15Speaker 3: with dou lay Hill.
- 26:19Speaker 7: I have a question to you and donaldver bicker.
- 26:22Speaker 3: We were just so funny. We were just talking that
- 26:24Speaker 3: before you guys got on. Bill. You probably don't know
- 26:26Speaker 3: this because you weren't there. You were in the writer's room.
- 26:29Speaker 3: But this episode is one of the first times I
- 26:32Speaker 3: remember getting in a fight with Donald when we were
- 26:34Speaker 3: doing the stunt where he last thows me in the
- 26:37Speaker 3: ICU and pulls me. Donald of course got very excited
- 26:40Speaker 3: and uh and and pulled me like legitimately hard across
- 26:43Speaker 3: that floor and it fucking hurt and uh and then
- 26:47Speaker 3: he wasn't apologetic and we got in a fight. And
- 26:50Speaker 3: the rest of the no.
- 26:51Speaker 1: A fight, we got into an argument. I would have
- 26:53Speaker 1: whipped your ass if you were to put your hands
- 26:55Speaker 1: on Let's give me one.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I didn't mean to imply that we got in a
- 26:59Speaker 3: fist fight. We got in an argument, and then the
- 27:01Speaker 3: rest of the episode we're like, the rest of that scene,
- 27:04Speaker 3: we're like, we'ren't speaking to each other. So that scene
- 27:07Speaker 3: has played out in silent treatment.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Dude, what's the longest that we've gone without talking to
- 27:12Speaker 1: each other because of a fight? What's the longest? Oh,
- 27:14Speaker 1: probably a week, couple of no, a couple of months, dude.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Casey, Casey. Whenever we get in a fight, Casey usually
- 27:20Speaker 3: becomes the the arbitrator and works it out. She becomes
- 27:24Speaker 3: our couple's therapists.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's very interesting.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I want, I want to be.
- 27:28Speaker 5: My problem is I think Christa could go years without
- 27:32Speaker 5: talking to me, and I'm always like, I'll match her stubbornness,
- 27:35Speaker 5: and I fold after about six minutes.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Please please, please love me again.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I hate I hate being in an argument with either
- 27:45Speaker 3: a friend or a partner. I just like that that awkward,
- 27:48Speaker 3: like angrily making a sandwich in the kitchen. It's rowing
- 27:54Speaker 3: down the peanut butter knife.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I don't by the way, you reference one of the
- 27:59Speaker 5: moments I thought was really funny on the show.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Not to take it to the show, but.
- 28:03Speaker 5: That that universal concept of not wanting to get in
- 28:07Speaker 5: another couple's fight and getting dragged back into it. And
- 28:10Speaker 5: then what I I, since I watched all these having
- 28:12Speaker 5: forgotten him too, when I see you hand it to
- 28:16Speaker 5: Aloma to nurse Roberts. Yeah, and she and she gets
- 28:19Speaker 5: pulled back, but much more comfortably on her back.
- 28:23Speaker 3: On her back, I think, like on a skateboard or something,
- 28:25Speaker 3: because if you floating, she's floating like several inches above
- 28:29Speaker 3: the girl.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I think the grips made Aloma her own Dolly. Yes,
- 28:36Speaker 3: Maloma's not going to get dragged real for real by
- 28:39Speaker 3: Donald and uh and get in a fight with him.
- 28:41Speaker 5: No, there's no silent treatment there. How how long would
- 28:44Speaker 5: a real fight between you two last?
- 28:46Speaker 2: If it was physical? Donald, do you think Zach even
- 28:48Speaker 2: holds his own for a couple of seconds?
- 28:49Speaker 1: I think his cardio is way better than mine now,
- 28:52Speaker 1: so I'd have to hand it. I'd have to end
- 28:54Speaker 1: it quickly because if I didn't, I would get tired,
- 28:58Speaker 1: and then his little taps would turn into hard punches.
- 29:01Speaker 3: That's bullshit, listen, Donald and I, Well, true, dude, we
- 29:04Speaker 3: used to bull true. I've never heard the expression bull true.
- 29:08Speaker 3: We used to get in play fights and you know,
- 29:10Speaker 3: just like you know for ten boxing, and I would
- 29:13Speaker 3: feel beaten up even by that within seconds, because I'd
- 29:17Speaker 3: like throw a fake punch, then he'd block it and
- 29:19Speaker 3: then come with the other hand. I'd be like, oh,
- 29:20Speaker 3: I'd be knocked out by that. Let's get into the episode,
- 29:24Speaker 3: directed by Michael Spiller, who's always one of our favorites, right, guys.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Big round of applause for the season finale.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Season finale. I didn't remember a bunch of this, of course,
- 29:34Speaker 3: I remember it was Christa's epic monologue, which we'll get
- 29:37Speaker 3: to in the end. I didn't remember this mirror gag
- 29:39Speaker 3: at all.
- 29:39Speaker 6: I I wrote that I didn't remember Christa.
- 29:42Speaker 3: You look stunning, and I believe you're wearing a leather blouse.
- 29:47Speaker 7: What I'm wearing. But where was the mirror? I don't
- 29:50Speaker 7: remember that.
- 29:51Speaker 5: All I remember is that Scrubs was the one time
- 29:55Speaker 5: I was ever able to coerce you into having short hair,
- 29:58Speaker 5: because you know how I love you with short hair.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Yeah, But watching this episode, I'm like, do I go
- 30:04Speaker 6: with that?
- 30:05Speaker 3: Yes?
- 30:05Speaker 7: Yes? Yeah, well yes, yes, you say that.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I really, I mean you look, you look great and
- 30:10Speaker 3: all the way.
- 30:11Speaker 1: But I know Bill is hair.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Not everybody can pull off this hairstyle. And I think
- 30:17Speaker 3: you look really good.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You look so.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Choppy and pc.
- 30:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and a long short hair cut. It's like long
- 30:24Speaker 7: I thought I would.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not longer than the shoulders, but it's it's
- 30:29Speaker 1: it's it still has a little bit of a flip.
- 30:33Speaker 6: Yes, always like Donald, don't boys like long hair. I mean,
- 30:38Speaker 6: Casey has long hair.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but Casey has long hair because she likes long hair.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It's not because it's not what I like it's what
- 30:44Speaker 1: she likes, not everybody.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I don't think everybody can pull it off, Christa, but
- 30:48Speaker 3: you you, you, you show in this episode that you
- 30:50Speaker 3: can because I think you look great.
- 30:51Speaker 1: You look amazing in this episode.
- 30:53Speaker 3: And your leather I didn't know a leather blouse was
- 30:55Speaker 3: a thing, but you look great.
- 30:57Speaker 2: I remember that mere thing.
- 30:59Speaker 5: And this is what was cool about having a show
- 31:01Speaker 5: with fantasies is we are trying to reprise the mirror
- 31:04Speaker 5: thing from the pilot, and then we knew we had
- 31:07Speaker 5: to give everybody the backstory kind of from the whole
- 31:11Speaker 5: season so we could blow it up at the end,
- 31:13Speaker 5: and we just did it by having them all talk
- 31:14Speaker 5: to in the mirror really fast. Yeah, so you knew
- 31:17Speaker 5: Donald and Carlo were fighting, you knew that you hooked
- 31:22Speaker 5: up with Christa, Johnny C's wife, and we knew you
- 31:24Speaker 5: know that you and Sarah still had some shit going on,
- 31:26Speaker 5: so we tried to just get it all out there quick.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Well, so you're saying, as a writing device, you kind
- 31:30Speaker 3: of wanted to brief the audience on here's where we're
- 31:33Speaker 3: ending the season, right.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Here's all the things that we're going to blow up
- 31:36Speaker 5: at the end, some of which we aren't going to
- 31:37Speaker 5: talk about a ton in this episode.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Right, And so you have to build when you're writing.
- 31:44Speaker 3: I think I know the answer, But just for people
- 31:46Speaker 3: that are aspiring writers out there of TV shows, you
- 31:49Speaker 3: kind of also have to remember like what the audience
- 31:52Speaker 3: knows and what they don't know. And even if they're
- 31:54Speaker 3: an avid viewer, they may have missed a week. So
- 31:56Speaker 3: is there a little bit of an onus on you
- 31:57Speaker 3: to just kind of get everyone in a headspace of
- 32:00Speaker 3: knowing what's about to happen.
- 32:02Speaker 2: There used to be there used to be.
- 32:05Speaker 5: It's changed with streaming television binging and you know now
- 32:08Speaker 5: people do things that they put and I love it
- 32:10Speaker 5: because I'm a fan. They'll put something in one episode
- 32:12Speaker 5: and never mention it again, and they'll come up in
- 32:14Speaker 5: episode five and if you're a fan, you're.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Like, whoo, that's binge watching, right?
- 32:18Speaker 5: And when when network TV used to exist, they used
- 32:20Speaker 5: to tell you, uh, your most frequent viewer watches one
- 32:24Speaker 5: out of every three episodes.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I told you, I told you, Bill told us that,
- 32:28Speaker 1: I told you, Bill told us that last episode with
- 32:31Speaker 1: Shay and you guys were fucking clowning me because you
- 32:34Speaker 1: were saying that I didn't watch it. I would lie
- 32:36Speaker 1: to people, but Bill told us that back in the day,
- 32:39Speaker 1: they're most freaking and Starsnat comes up to you and says,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I fucking love your show. It's maybe seeing four episodes.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's like a huge fan. That network used
- 32:47Speaker 5: to say a huge fan. If you did twenty two episodes,
- 32:50Speaker 5: you say, a huge fan probably saw eight of.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Them that season.
- 32:53Speaker 5: And then know that and then more than well, that's
- 32:56Speaker 5: when member, that's when your audience would be ten to
- 32:59Speaker 5: fifteen million people, and you'd go like, oh, we have
- 33:01Speaker 5: four million that watched them all, and then six million
- 33:05Speaker 5: that watched ten episodes, and then a few million that
- 33:09Speaker 5: watched like three or four, you know.
- 33:11Speaker 2: And so it's.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Funny when I think back to as a kid, to
- 33:13Speaker 3: shows I loved, like, let's just to pick one, Cheers.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I saw a fraction of episodes of Cheers, you know, Like,
- 33:19Speaker 3: so I guess, as I think about it, I am
- 33:22Speaker 3: that I was that way too, And it was that
- 33:23Speaker 3: sort of viewing.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and we're TV fans that ended up in this
- 33:27Speaker 5: business and that was us so and now it's that
- 33:29Speaker 5: that that that ethos is gone. Now you you assume
- 33:34Speaker 5: with these streaming shows that people that are watching them
- 33:36Speaker 5: are binging them if they like them, and you don't
- 33:38Speaker 5: have to make reference to anything you've done episodes before.
- 33:41Speaker 5: So yeah, we felt the always felt the burden to
- 33:45Speaker 5: catch people up.
- 33:46Speaker 3: And Bill, another question is where was your head out
- 33:49Speaker 3: when we got here? I don't remember, and I wonder
- 33:53Speaker 3: if you do, how we how we were doing in
- 33:55Speaker 3: the ratings? Were you were you confident we were going
- 33:57Speaker 3: to get another season?
- 33:59Speaker 5: Well, yeah, we were, or we at this point we
- 34:01Speaker 5: were a very successful show, and uh, I was even
- 34:05Speaker 5: expecting us to be on After Friends, which we were
- 34:07Speaker 5: the next year, you know, And so the we were
- 34:12Speaker 5: just trying to blow everything up because we had kind
- 34:14Speaker 5: of done, you know, we had outlined a year to
- 34:17Speaker 5: get through their internship, and then we wanted to go,
- 34:19Speaker 5: let's not repeat it next year.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Let's blow it all up. Let's do them thinking.
- 34:23Speaker 5: That they're becoming doctors, but remind people what's still out there.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Elliott still has a thing for JD. Jordan, whether she
- 34:29Speaker 5: wants to admit it or not, is still in love.
- 34:31Speaker 2: With doctor cox h.
- 34:33Speaker 5: He is obsessed with Carla for his own narcissistic reasons.
- 34:37Speaker 5: Carl and Turk are considering getting serious in the relationship.
- 34:40Speaker 2: You know all that stuff.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I have to make you something, I have to admit
- 34:44Speaker 3: something to you, very embarrassing after twenty years. I had
- 34:46Speaker 3: forgotten that. And when and when, when Christis says at
- 34:49Speaker 3: the end, admit that you still have feelings for JD,
- 34:52Speaker 3: I personally got excited for JD. I was like, she
- 34:55Speaker 3: likes me still, like I had forgotten because Sarah does
- 34:58Speaker 3: such a good job Elliott. Sarah Elliott does a good
- 35:01Speaker 3: job of totally seeming like she's over it, like and
- 35:05Speaker 3: obviously I know where it goes in the end of
- 35:06Speaker 3: the show. But when you said that and Sarah gave
- 35:09Speaker 3: a look like you just outed me, I was like,
- 35:11Speaker 3: I was like happy for me. JD.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Well, you know it's so weird man TV and the
- 35:18Speaker 5: fandom and you guys decide what we do in many
- 35:20Speaker 5: ways with your performance, because we did that Pizza Clock
- 35:25Speaker 5: episode with you and Sarah because we.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Said we don't want to do will there won't they?
- 35:29Speaker 5: So Turk and Karla are going to be the couple
- 35:31Speaker 5: that's together for the whole duration of the show.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Will there won't They?
- 35:35Speaker 5: Will be Doctor Cox and Jordan and JD and Elliott
- 35:38Speaker 5: will have them hook up now and do that, run
- 35:42Speaker 5: the relationship fully through its course, and then we'll never
- 35:44Speaker 5: be back there again. But the second we did it,
- 35:47Speaker 5: people wanted it and wanted to track it, and it
- 35:49Speaker 5: became inevitable.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You guys had chemistry.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I mean, I want that. I mean, I guess I'm
- 35:55Speaker 3: the typical viewer. I love a will there, won't they?
- 35:57Speaker 3: I'm a sucker for that.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes great television, you guys. I didn't realize
- 36:02Speaker 1: that Cox and Jordan were the will they or won't
- 36:05Speaker 1: they until this episode. Really, when you see that Jordan
- 36:09Speaker 1: really does have feelings for it. Yeah, that was such
- 36:12Speaker 1: a vulnerable moment where she, you know, she first she
- 36:15Speaker 1: thanks him, like, yo, dude, first of all, thank you
- 36:17Speaker 1: for not pressuring me into having to, you know, go
- 36:22Speaker 1: into this thing tomorrow and speak up for you. I
- 36:24Speaker 1: truly appreciate that. And then his response and her face
- 36:29Speaker 1: and reaction to it all when he says, right, yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: it was like, well you could feel her pain, you
- 36:35Speaker 1: know what I mean, you can feel the pain like
- 36:36Speaker 1: she was with you know, she Jordan truly, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 1: as much as she fronch, she still loves this guy
- 36:45Speaker 1: and he's playing it. I mean, it's clear that he
- 36:49Speaker 1: loves her later on, but he's playing it at this moment,
- 36:51Speaker 1: like I know why you're here. He's oblivious, he's aloof
- 36:54Speaker 1: he's he's a he's a moron also for it too,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean. You gotta get to listen it.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Somebody shows up over and over and over and over
- 37:02Speaker 1: again for a booty call. Dude, wake up and smell
- 37:04Speaker 1: the flavor.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Man, this shit is real, right, And the first time,
- 37:07Speaker 3: for the first time, we see Jordan being vulnerable there, right,
- 37:11Speaker 3: christ I mean, she's like, you're like sitting even your.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Body language, your life, I know, I feel small.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah, And you've got a blanket over you, you know,
- 37:18Speaker 3: whereas you've been all this, this sexually confident woman who's
- 37:21Speaker 3: talking shit, you're curling. I thought it was a good
- 37:23Speaker 3: acting moment for you as well. You were kind of
- 37:25Speaker 3: curled up and and you had a blanket over you,
- 37:28Speaker 3: and you were you were vulnerable because you were you
- 37:30Speaker 3: were catching feelings, as they say.
- 37:32Speaker 1: But when when he said let's shake do you know,
- 37:35Speaker 1: shake it up? And she says, so you want me
- 37:36Speaker 1: to shake it up? That's when it was like, oh shit,
- 37:39Speaker 1: what has he done. He has no idea, He has
- 37:42Speaker 1: no idea what he just did.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I like.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Too, Donald.
- 37:45Speaker 5: I liked a scene with Sarah and Christa that Donald
- 37:48Speaker 5: just pointed out because it's it's cool and a writer
- 37:51Speaker 5: that something happens serendipitously that you didn't mean to set
- 37:54Speaker 5: it up. But we had done all these booty calls,
- 37:57Speaker 5: and then we had Jordan's say sex is for making
- 38:01Speaker 5: babies and revenge and that's it, and then Sarah. Then
- 38:04Speaker 5: Sarah says, I don't think you're getting a lot of
- 38:07Speaker 5: revenge on doctor Cox by showing up and servicing him,
- 38:11Speaker 5: you know.
- 38:11Speaker 2: While he watches Sports Center.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you know what I mean. And to me, I
- 38:17Speaker 5: I had forgotten it, and your face did it too.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I'm like, oh shit, she likes him, Stinger.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 38:25Speaker 3: We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Now.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Sorry to jump to the Todd for a second, just
- 38:37Speaker 3: because he's we've been talking. Donald and I have really
- 38:39Speaker 3: been going back you guys and laughing and acknowledging that
- 38:43Speaker 3: everything that Rob Maschio says is funny, and we're constantly
- 38:47Speaker 3: being like, you know, we we teased him a lot
- 38:49Speaker 3: while we were shooting the show, and uh, and now
- 38:52Speaker 3: when we go back and watch the episodes, like every
- 38:54Speaker 3: single thing he does makes us laugh, including in this episode.
- 38:56Speaker 3: He has a lot of funny stuff when you when you,
- 38:59Speaker 3: when you, when you're asking doctor Wen, when you and
- 39:02Speaker 3: Carl are asking doctor Wen for help, and he's in
- 39:04Speaker 3: the background like doing all this stupid stuff.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and I smacked the glass on his face.
- 39:10Speaker 3: And he's like, it didn't hurt.
- 39:11Speaker 1: It didn't hurt this time.
- 39:16Speaker 5: Also, I think he I think he speaks like monosyllabically.
- 39:21Speaker 2: What the Todd did bad?
- 39:25Speaker 5: Still referring to himself in third person, and turk Arry
- 39:29Speaker 5: upset with him.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Todd did bad. As a matter of fact, the Todd
- 39:32Speaker 1: did very very bad, very very bad.
- 39:35Speaker 6: But do you know what Bill I noticed in this
- 39:37Speaker 6: show There are a thousand one line funny funny jokes
- 39:44Speaker 6: through the whole. Everyone has these hysterical one liners that ever,
- 39:48Speaker 6: I was trying to write them down and like there
- 39:50Speaker 6: were too many, Like everyone has a funny thing to say.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Aloma has the best one to me, you didn't hear that,
- 39:57Speaker 1: you didn't hear you didn't No, but g Us.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Dude, Jesus.
- 40:02Speaker 1: And then she sings and then she sings the song
- 40:05Speaker 1: from Uh, the opening from White Man Can't Jump, just
- 40:09Speaker 1: Bojesus Sanity.
- 40:15Speaker 5: I also love that because I don't think we had
- 40:17Speaker 5: any song chosen and just it's one of the most
- 40:20Speaker 5: fun things for me, you know, on the show, or
- 40:22Speaker 5: the amount of stuff that we're left into the hands
- 40:24Speaker 5: of the actors and actresses. So I know, she just
- 40:26Speaker 5: picked that and started singing it, which was fantastic.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I believe Aloma was a religious woman, right.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we did, we did.
- 40:33Speaker 5: We did bet that at some point, but I can't
- 40:35Speaker 5: I know we wanted her to be from the.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Start, you know, no, I know the character was, but
- 40:39Speaker 3: I think that as I recall Aloma right is was
- 40:43Speaker 3: so maybe she knew that from church or something. I
- 40:46Speaker 3: don't know.
- 40:46Speaker 1: You gotta have her on the show, by the way,
- 40:49Speaker 1: she want to have her on her show. We want
- 40:54Speaker 1: to have on her show. We've discussed already bringing her
- 40:57Speaker 1: in the second season.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Yeah, she's a lovely man.
- 40:59Speaker 2: She's fine too. I forgot what a big presence she was.
- 41:01Speaker 3: We're gonna have rob on and and Uh. By the way,
- 41:04Speaker 3: it's funny, Bill, I don't know if you remember you
- 41:05Speaker 3: sent out a mass email to the whole cast about
- 41:09Speaker 3: doing some event and everyone was like, I'm down. I'm
- 41:12Speaker 3: down and down, and then Ken Jenkins was like, oh,
- 41:14Speaker 3: good to hear from you. I'm I'm moving way too busy,
- 41:17Speaker 3: and I was like and I was like, oh man,
- 41:19Speaker 3: we were going to ask him to come on the podcast.
- 41:20Speaker 3: But I'm a little nervous now that Ken's gonna blow
- 41:23Speaker 3: us off and it won't in my heart won't be
- 41:24Speaker 3: able to handle it.
- 41:25Speaker 5: The thing that's going to make me happiest is when
- 41:27Speaker 5: you ask him to do it next year and he's
- 41:29Speaker 5: still miraculously moving.
- 41:37Speaker 2: I'm moving, but.
- 41:38Speaker 1: It's a bad time. I'm moving.
- 41:40Speaker 3: I know you're still moving. It's a long move. It's
- 41:43Speaker 3: a long move. Yeah, we want to have Rob on.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Who else do we have on Aloma? I want to
- 41:48Speaker 3: have We were talking about having all the stand ins
- 41:50Speaker 3: on and like a group one.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Deonta's like Deonta Deontay said to me the other day,
- 41:55Speaker 1: he was like, listen, when you guys get to the
- 41:57Speaker 1: one with the chimps and they're all dressed up as doctors,
- 42:01Speaker 1: you gotta I'll call in or whatever it is, because
- 42:05Speaker 1: I've got a great story for that. Moment and he
- 42:07Speaker 1: told me the story and it is amazing, So.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Well, don't don't don't take it from him.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna take it from him.
- 42:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna wait because you gotta do that.
- 42:14Speaker 5: And then you also, I believe, if I'm not mistaken,
- 42:18Speaker 5: that Deontay I see him a lot when people do
- 42:21Speaker 5: the clip of Neil Flynn saying his actual name, and
- 42:25Speaker 5: then Deontay, I think, walks by and goes, hey, Tony right.
- 42:27Speaker 2: At the at the end of it.
- 42:29Speaker 5: So he's the reason that people don't believe that the
- 42:31Speaker 5: janitor is Glenn Matthews.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Oh really, really yes.
- 42:35Speaker 1: So Gwn Matthews is his real name.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Gwen Matthews is his real name.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Only you heard it right from Bill's mouth, guys, Glenn
- 42:41Speaker 3: Matthews is his real name. He just he just lied
- 42:44Speaker 3: to to Deontay's character and said he was Tony.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Yes, And we decided his name was Gwen Matthews because
- 42:49Speaker 5: he was the janitor on Clone High and introduced himself
- 42:52Speaker 5: as Glenn.
- 42:54Speaker 3: A no, we had we had nelon I don't know
- 42:58Speaker 3: if you I did. It was hilarious and we really
- 43:01Speaker 3: kind of stumbled into a really good TV show. Bill
- 43:04Speaker 3: that we'd love you to prose about a space idea.
- 43:08Speaker 1: It's a great idea.
- 43:09Speaker 2: And by the way, I will never waiver Bill.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Bill, Bill, you don't want you don't want one of
- 43:14Speaker 3: your fellow fancy showrunners to steal Space Janitor. We're giving
- 43:17Speaker 3: it to you.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Bill.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Don't say I never gave you anything as a president.
- 43:23Speaker 3: You're getting, you're getting, You're getting the rough treatment for
- 43:25Speaker 3: Space Janitor.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's a multi camera in front of a couch, Bill
- 43:30Speaker 1: in space. How can you.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Space Janitor?
- 43:33Speaker 5: And then another one I was going to hit up about, uh,
- 43:36Speaker 5: Sam Lloyd rips the Janitor and Sam is a legal.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great one.
- 43:44Speaker 3: I also like we stumbled into a thing and that
- 43:46Speaker 3: Neil episode. By the way, Neil's talking about how he's
- 43:48Speaker 3: finally developing something on his own because he's always been
- 43:51Speaker 3: in other people's stuff and he's now collaborating with someone
- 43:53Speaker 3: developing something and I just sitting riffing jokes with him
- 43:56Speaker 3: for an hour and a half. With Donald, I was like,
- 43:58Speaker 3: I feel like we could come up with ten shows
- 44:00Speaker 3: because he's so quick witted. The other one we stumbled
- 44:02Speaker 3: into was a classic multi camp sitcom, but it's a
- 44:05Speaker 3: castle and it takes place with with roy with old
- 44:08Speaker 3: school like medieval royals. So you just do like classic
- 44:14Speaker 3: multi caam sitcom jokes, but they're like in it's like
- 44:17Speaker 3: medieval times.
- 44:18Speaker 2: The Game of Throne.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yes, it's a Game of Thrones. It's Game of Thrones,
- 44:23Speaker 3: but it's a sitcom. Right, I'm in, Bill, I'm in.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I'll do I'll do eight to ten.
- 44:28Speaker 7: Right, So.
- 44:31Speaker 5: I still want to see you guys in some kind
- 44:33Speaker 5: of spies like us, you know, I know weapon some
- 44:38Speaker 5: kind of version of that said.
- 44:39Speaker 3: We were talking when we had Scott Foley on how
- 44:41Speaker 3: how we really need you to pull a jj Abrams
- 44:44Speaker 3: and start directing giant tentpole movies because what's his name,
- 44:47Speaker 3: Greg Grunberg.
- 44:49Speaker 2: I heard that one of you guys.
- 44:51Speaker 3: All these Star Wars movies. Man, we need you to
- 44:53Speaker 3: direct your big tempole movies so Donald and I can
- 44:55Speaker 3: be in it.
- 44:57Speaker 5: And christ By the way, my wife just said, yeah,
- 45:00Speaker 5: Bill is this is this is the reality of my wife.
- 45:04Speaker 5: My wife should be somebody that would be in all
- 45:06Speaker 5: of my shows, and yet she's only in the ones
- 45:10Speaker 5: that she picks as that she deems worthy of her
- 45:14Speaker 5: time and effort, so much so that I will occasionally
- 45:17Speaker 5: and she'll remain nameless.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Go there's a really thing. It would be really helpful.
- 45:21Speaker 5: You know if you did this part in this little thing,
- 45:23Speaker 5: and she's going, has the script changed it all since
- 45:26Speaker 5: the last.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Time I read it, And I'm like, no, but you're
- 45:32Speaker 2: still no, but you're still my wife. I feel like
- 45:36Speaker 2: she's like, pass.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Billy. This would always do that. Like the first draft
- 45:41Speaker 3: of of Christa's lines in the show would be would
- 45:44Speaker 3: be good, to be funny, and then like on the
- 45:46Speaker 3: day she'd show up like with Bill and like they
- 45:49Speaker 3: had both just been working together, and Christy would have
- 45:51Speaker 3: like a whole new pass. It was like a christ pass.
- 45:57Speaker 3: She had the ability that we didn't to go Bill.
- 46:01Speaker 5: My wife was on the show Cougar Town, and I'm
- 46:05Speaker 5: always telling this story.
- 46:06Speaker 2: We'll get back to this show one of my favorite things.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I alway stayed on.
- 46:08Speaker 5: That show for three of its six years, and I
- 46:11Speaker 5: went and did other stuff, and I remember telling Christa,
- 46:14Speaker 5: I'm like, look, you know, there's other shows I want
- 46:18Speaker 5: to do. There'll be different showrunners and all that other stuff,
- 46:21Speaker 5: but I love you, and she's like, oh, she took
- 46:23Speaker 5: it so.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Well that I was like, oh wow, that went better
- 46:25Speaker 2: than I thought.
- 46:27Speaker 5: And then the next year, like with their first episode,
- 46:30Speaker 5: I was working on a different show. When I came home,
- 46:32Speaker 5: there was a script on my pillow with her lines highlighted,
- 46:35Speaker 5: and just like she had she had just written things like.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Change beach, punch up, nange, Nope.
- 46:44Speaker 7: Bill had told me.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Bill.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Bill said to me, you know I'm only going to
- 46:48Speaker 6: run it, you know, these three years, and then it's
- 46:50Speaker 6: going to go. I just want you to know that
- 46:52Speaker 6: going in. I'm like, no problem, got it, no problem.
- 46:55Speaker 6: And then it was really the week you left.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it was immediately like you're like, this works for
- 47:02Speaker 5: me fine because you'll still do whatever I want you
- 47:04Speaker 5: to do, which is how our life works.
- 47:07Speaker 3: I love it. I would watch this shit out of
- 47:09Speaker 3: this sitcom, The Real Life Adventures of Bill and Christen.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I really liked. I don't know why it made me
- 47:17Speaker 2: so happy.
- 47:18Speaker 5: And take it back to the episode of You, Donald, You,
- 47:21Speaker 5: Zach and Sarah all coming in on that first day
- 47:25Speaker 5: being because it made me it felt real because I
- 47:27Speaker 5: know it was the last one.
- 47:28Speaker 2: We shot, and I got nostalgic because you were like,
- 47:30Speaker 2: can you believe it's our last day? You know what
- 47:32Speaker 2: I mean?
- 47:33Speaker 5: And it felt very last day of school, and I
- 47:37Speaker 5: looked at that.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I watched these shows with an.
- 47:40Speaker 5: Odd combination of pride nostalgia and then you know they're old.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Being a writer that goes, oh.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Man, I wish we had done that differently, or I
- 47:49Speaker 5: wish that was I'd fix that or whatever. But that
- 47:52Speaker 5: moment specifically made me remember what a gift it was
- 47:57Speaker 5: to have you guys all there and be so tight
- 47:59Speaker 5: and lovely and fun to hang out with in real life.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Just made me happy.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember feeling I remember feeling excited because I
- 48:10Speaker 1: think we all knew how well the show was doing
- 48:13Speaker 1: at the time, and we made it to the last episode.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It was the twenty third episode of the season.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Did we do twenty four the ID twenty four the
- 48:20Speaker 2: first year four?
- 48:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we did twenty four. Well, we did twenty
- 48:24Speaker 1: three episodes that year, not including the pilot, and I
- 48:28Speaker 1: remember being like, holy cow, were a hit. A lot
- 48:33Speaker 1: of things in my life are changing now, you know
- 48:35Speaker 1: what I mean. I can't believe it. As an actor,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I did it. I fucking did it. All my friends
- 48:41Speaker 1: from home, you know, we're watching my television show like
- 48:45Speaker 1: it was The Cosby Show, you know, what I mean,
- 48:47Speaker 1: like it was a different world or whatever it was,
- 48:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We came on after Frasier,
- 48:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Everything was really awesome at
- 48:55Speaker 1: that moment, and so when we when I watched the scene,
- 48:58Speaker 1: I remember feeling great about it. But when I watched
- 49:00Speaker 1: the scene, I had the biggest smile on my face.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And it's the opening of the show too, and you
- 49:04Speaker 1: know what I mean. But I had such a huge
- 49:06Speaker 1: smile on my face because you know, I remember the
- 49:10Speaker 1: feeling of it's a success. I'm a part of something successful.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I'm a part of something that people really like, and
- 49:17Speaker 1: I really enjoy the people that I work with. And yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 1: so you know.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Yeah, we were I agreed. Now we were being genuine.
- 49:23Speaker 3: That moment is the three of us as close friends,
- 49:27Speaker 3: hugging and being like, holy shit, this happened. We just
- 49:31Speaker 3: did twenty four episodes of a show that's popular, and
- 49:34Speaker 3: you know, there was there was There didn't need to
- 49:36Speaker 3: be much acting. There that was that was that was
- 49:38Speaker 3: very meta, very genuine.
- 49:40Speaker 5: Well that's what I got out of this man, the
- 49:41Speaker 5: gift of it. There's two things I wrote down. Was
- 49:44Speaker 5: one like how great Christ it was to have see
- 49:47Speaker 5: you in it, because not only are you my wife,
- 49:49Speaker 5: but you're so good, you know, and so funny and vulnerable.
- 49:54Speaker 2: And such a badass in this I love that. And
- 49:57Speaker 2: then the one thing I wanted to say too is
- 49:58Speaker 2: my only other thing I did reference with you guys.
- 50:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 50:01Speaker 5: So there's weird parts of the narrative, like how you
- 50:03Speaker 5: guys keep trying to disprove that Neil was a figment
- 50:06Speaker 5: of an imagination and you'll never ever bend me.
- 50:09Speaker 2: He was figurative. He didn't talk to anybody. I don't
- 50:11Speaker 2: care what you think you saw. But like one of
- 50:15Speaker 2: the other narratives.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Which was so interesting was you know how Judy and I,
- 50:22Speaker 5: you know, she would always come in at the beginning
- 50:23Speaker 5: of seasons and go I can be you know, funnier
- 50:26Speaker 5: and goofier.
- 50:27Speaker 2: And I would always be like, you're the you know,
- 50:29Speaker 2: emotional backbone of the whole show. And this was one
- 50:33Speaker 2: of those episodes that we earned.
- 50:35Speaker 5: It was it's never one or the other, like you
- 50:38Speaker 5: already talked about it when Donald is pulling Zach over
- 50:42Speaker 5: to him when they were fighting in real life.
- 50:44Speaker 2: You know, one of my favorite things is Judy's in
- 50:46Speaker 2: the background and going.
- 50:47Speaker 5: You got him, baby, you know what I mean, And
- 50:49Speaker 5: immediately it was made me laugh.
- 50:51Speaker 2: But then what we wanted to do in the show
- 50:54Speaker 2: was a moment.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Do you remember when you two and Sarah, even though
- 50:57Speaker 5: he had been your patient for the entire episode, one
- 51:00Speaker 5: of you knew what mister Bober looked like.
- 51:03Speaker 2: And then of course you hear Karla's.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Voice and she says, he's over here, and she knows
- 51:09Speaker 5: that none of you know him, and she's chastising you
- 51:13Speaker 5: without being judgmental.
- 51:15Speaker 2: And she was the only character on our show that
- 51:17Speaker 2: could do that.
- 51:18Speaker 5: You know, doctor Cox to do that moment would yell
- 51:20Speaker 5: at you and rub your faces in it. Kelso could
- 51:22Speaker 5: never do it, and you three it was so weird
- 51:25Speaker 5: because you three were all kids to her still grown up,
- 51:27Speaker 5: you know what I mean.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a good example too. I mean,
- 51:30Speaker 3: obviously we're doing it about the medical profession, but I
- 51:33Speaker 3: think everyone can relate to just getting used to something
- 51:37Speaker 3: and getting sort of cold to it. And again it
- 51:40Speaker 3: gets meta for the show too, because Donald and I
- 51:42Speaker 3: can attest that then we got used to it. We
- 51:45Speaker 3: were on a popular show and we had this awesome job,
- 51:47Speaker 3: and you know, it wasn't until it's over. In this
- 51:50Speaker 3: many years back, we look back and go, oh my god,
- 51:52Speaker 3: not only did we have a great job that we
- 51:53Speaker 3: all love, but we were all so close, so we
- 51:55Speaker 3: all got along so well.
- 51:56Speaker 7: And now you know what, things become your new normal.
- 52:00Speaker 6: Yes, so it becomes your new normal that you don't
- 52:03Speaker 6: treat patients the same way.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I always call it in writing because I'm never present
- 52:09Speaker 5: enough and I'm trying to be more now.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Is we used to call it a don't know how
- 52:14Speaker 2: good you got it disease?
- 52:15Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 52:16Speaker 2: Because then then we're all off to on other jobs
- 52:20Speaker 2: and other.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Shows and remembering how great those experiences were and not
- 52:24Speaker 5: saying that we didn't all enjoy them. But in the moment,
- 52:27Speaker 5: I was never walk around going, hey, I don't know
- 52:29Speaker 5: if I'm ever gonna work on a show that I'm
- 52:32Speaker 5: proud of with these people I love and would want
- 52:34Speaker 5: to spend time with forever and stuff again, So I
- 52:37Speaker 5: should suck in every moment.
- 52:38Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 52:39Speaker 3: Do you? You've worked on nine zillion shows since Scrubs?
- 52:42Speaker 3: Is there has there been another? We'll exclude Cougartown because
- 52:46Speaker 3: your wife was on it. Has there been another that
- 52:48Speaker 3: you that you feel that you had anywhere near us
- 52:53Speaker 3: close to as much fun.
- 52:54Speaker 5: On the only thing that is close to tell you
- 52:59Speaker 5: the truth was Spin City, because this way you guys
- 53:01Speaker 5: are talking was my first experience and it had this
- 53:04Speaker 5: very weird thing that we can all hope for, which
- 53:06Speaker 5: is somebody that is a idol of yours growing up
- 53:10Speaker 5: turns out to be exactly as cool as you would
- 53:12Speaker 5: want them to be in real life, you know. And
- 53:15Speaker 5: that's who Mike Fox was, and so to grow up
- 53:17Speaker 5: watching his shows and his movies and then he's respectful
- 53:20Speaker 5: to me and kind and great, and so.
- 53:23Speaker 2: That was fun. But I didn't leave there with lifelong friends.
- 53:27Speaker 5: The way I am with you Donald, you know, Judy,
- 53:30Speaker 5: Sarah and Neil and by the way, and John and
- 53:33Speaker 5: Ken told me not to say this when he was
- 53:34Speaker 5: doing my podcast, but Ken Jenkins did, by.
- 53:37Speaker 3: The way, you did you go out in the city
- 53:39Speaker 3: with Michael J. Fox?
- 53:41Speaker 2: No, he was when that show started. He was already sick.
- 53:45Speaker 5: And one of the you know, one of the first
- 53:47Speaker 5: things that you know, when I started that show, we
- 53:50Speaker 5: were taking aside and Mike and Gary said, look, Mike's
- 53:53Speaker 5: going to do one hundred episodes in four years because
- 53:56Speaker 5: he's sick and we have to do some production things
- 53:57Speaker 5: around it, and that early yeah, and uh, but still
- 54:04Speaker 5: got to, you know, with the concerts and dinners and
- 54:05Speaker 5: blah blah, had some fun with him and stuff.
- 54:07Speaker 3: I was just thinking how cool I would feel walking
- 54:09Speaker 3: into a bar with Michael J. Fox. I would just
- 54:11Speaker 3: I'd be strutting like Donald and I in that in
- 54:12Speaker 3: that in that fantasy where we're strutting down the hall,
- 54:16Speaker 3: I'd have a pimp coat on.
- 54:17Speaker 2: For some reason, I love that you guys did that again.
- 54:20Speaker 2: But you changed.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Outfits right because working.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Out because at that time I gott I was in
- 54:24Speaker 3: really good shape. So I'm like, I'm the shirtless one
- 54:26Speaker 3: this time.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Well, I take.
- 54:28Speaker 2: By the way, that's what friendship brings to a show.
- 54:31Speaker 2: And Christa, this is you too.
- 54:34Speaker 5: The amount of stuff that you guys were generous enough,
- 54:37Speaker 5: and Christa Jenner from that you would actually say, are
- 54:39Speaker 5: doing real life names you would call each other, dynamics,
- 54:43Speaker 5: et cetera. That made their way into the show, and
- 54:45Speaker 5: the lexicon could only happen because of how close everybody was, of.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Course, and by the way, you could still be writing
- 54:51Speaker 3: it because if if this show was in the modern era,
- 54:53Speaker 3: Judy would be the one who slid into my DMS
- 54:55Speaker 3: and be like, why did you post that picture at
- 54:57Speaker 3: Turk looking fat?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Hey, I don't want to I don't want to speak
- 55:02Speaker 1: out of turn here, so if I'm wrong, we could
- 55:03Speaker 1: cut this out and everything. But Bill, didn't you write
- 55:06Speaker 1: on Friends the first season?
- 55:08Speaker 5: I did write on Friends the first season. Somebody got
- 55:12Speaker 5: fired and so and I came in. It was me
- 55:16Speaker 5: at the end, but at the beginning, at the beginning,
- 55:20Speaker 5: I came in and got to write on that show.
- 55:22Speaker 5: And it was such a joke heavy show and some
- 55:24Speaker 5: amazing talented joke writers, the main one being David Crane,
- 55:28Speaker 5: who created that show went on to create episodes, and
- 55:32Speaker 5: he's just such a good.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Just a good writer. And I got to know Matthew
- 55:36Speaker 2: Perry a.
- 55:37Speaker 5: Little bit, mostly because someone made the joke that at
- 55:39Speaker 5: different points in time I looked like Matthew's fatter older brother,
- 55:44Speaker 5: skinnier younger brother, fatter younger brother, and then skinnier.
- 55:47Speaker 2: Older brother, all depending on the two of them.
- 55:49Speaker 5: Christa, by the way, here's the worst story about Matthew Perry,
- 55:53Speaker 5: and WI is relevant?
- 55:54Speaker 2: Tell them how I.
- 55:55Speaker 5: Tricked you, and how it became a huge issue in
- 55:57Speaker 5: our life when Matthew Perry directed scrubs so inappropriate.
- 56:04Speaker 3: Good, really good.
- 56:07Speaker 7: Want to hear that is not going to be told?
- 56:10Speaker 3: Okay, well my imagination better.
- 56:13Speaker 2: It is better that it won't be.
- 56:15Speaker 3: My imagination is way probably more twisted than it was.
- 56:18Speaker 6: I'll tell I'll tell a version of it. So I
- 56:21Speaker 6: was friends with Matthew Perry. We were on the same lot,
- 56:24Speaker 6: but I was friends with him before we got friends
- 56:26Speaker 6: and before I started doing Drew Carrey, and we always
- 56:29Speaker 6: used to play. We used to hang out all the time,
- 56:31Speaker 6: and we used to play paddle tests together. I loved
- 56:34Speaker 6: Maddie and we were always friends. I actually dated a
- 56:38Speaker 6: friend of his.
- 56:38Speaker 7: I did.
- 56:39Speaker 6: Matthew and I were always good friends, and we play
- 56:42Speaker 6: softball together, et cetera.
- 56:44Speaker 7: So Bill, the whole time since we.
- 56:47Speaker 6: Started dating from a weekend, said are you did you
- 56:52Speaker 6: ever fool around with Matthew Perry?
- 56:53Speaker 7: And I said no, we were just friends. And he goes,
- 56:55Speaker 7: I can't.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Imagine that that you were just friends, because you.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Know, I didn't being friends with him for six years
- 57:02Speaker 5: and different times been single on not once flown around.
- 57:05Speaker 6: So so I said no, we were just friends.
- 57:09Speaker 7: No no, no, no no. And then and then.
- 57:12Speaker 6: Bill would see us together and you know, we were
- 57:15Speaker 6: really good friends, and I would say, see, we're really
- 57:17Speaker 6: good friends. He goes, I know, I still don't believe
- 57:19Speaker 6: you at all. And the week that Matthew Perry was
- 57:24Speaker 6: directing Scrubs the first morning, you.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Know, I mean to work with me.
- 57:28Speaker 7: I yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 6: And I normally don't allow Bill to drive to work
- 57:31Speaker 6: to me because he wants to with me because he
- 57:33Speaker 6: talks all the time and I just like listening to Howard.
- 57:36Speaker 7: Stern, so he can't.
- 57:38Speaker 6: It keeps turning the volume down to chat about nonsense.
- 57:42Speaker 6: So I don't let him drive to work with me.
- 57:44Speaker 6: But I was first up, which you know, it was
- 57:46Speaker 6: early in the morning, and Bill said, do you think
- 57:49Speaker 6: it's going to feel awkward for matt Perry to direct
- 57:54Speaker 6: you since you guys fooled around?
- 57:56Speaker 7: And I said, no, it's gonna be fine.
- 58:00Speaker 5: I pulled the car over and went, yes, you know what,
- 58:08Speaker 5: you know what you know I did? I let it
- 58:09Speaker 5: sit for like a year before that, having not brought
- 58:11Speaker 5: it up, and then I went, super cash, that might
- 58:13Speaker 5: just be fun.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Today, it'd be weird with him directing you said, you
- 58:15Speaker 2: guys fooled around. She's like, no, it's not a big deal.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yes, Oh my god, he built you do the long
- 58:25Speaker 3: play with that.
- 58:28Speaker 6: Long play, and I really stuck to my guns and
- 58:31Speaker 6: it was such a little thing, but he got me.
- 58:35Speaker 7: It was too early in the.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Morning, seven years of it.
- 58:38Speaker 6: As Bill laughed the entire way for the rest of
- 58:43Speaker 6: the drive.
- 58:44Speaker 2: It made me so giddy. I was. I was just
- 58:46Speaker 2: going through all the lies in my head. It made
- 58:47Speaker 2: me so happy.
- 58:48Speaker 3: All Right, we have a fan waiting, and we're going
- 58:50Speaker 3: to go to break first. And then also when we're
- 58:52Speaker 3: done with the fan, I want you to tell the
- 58:53Speaker 3: story about Bill when you came across George Clooney leaning
- 58:58Speaker 3: against Christa's trailer.
- 59:00Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 59:01Speaker 3: We'll be right back and we're back, and we're back,
- 59:13Speaker 3: and Joel is going to bring in Joel. Who are
- 59:15Speaker 3: our guests or guest singular, our guest plural today?
- 59:19Speaker 9: Emily?
- 59:20Speaker 1: Emily is in the ladies and gentlemen, give it up
- 59:27Speaker 1: for Emily. That's my best Oprah, are you wearing scrubs?
- 59:33Speaker 3: Emily only appears to have a stethoscope. Emily, can you
- 59:36Speaker 3: hear us? Can you hear us, but Dan has messed
- 59:39Speaker 3: up again and we can't hear Emily.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Emily, can you hear us?
- 59:44Speaker 3: If you need anyone for your mediocre mixing services.
- 59:47Speaker 1: I recommend stop it.
- 59:49Speaker 3: I'm dppinning. I stop Daniel. I love Daniel.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Dan, You're the best. I'm not even singing the song
- 59:55Speaker 1: for me. You're the best.
- 59:59Speaker 12: No, I just want to.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Give a shout out if you if you're starting a
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: podcast and would like to only be able to hear
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: some of your guests. I can't recommends connecting Daniel's laughing.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Joelle is just shaking her head judgmentally it. Dani makes
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: me happy.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: In the meantime, Bill, have you ever seen the air
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: fresh Year that somebody made of me?
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, what does it smell like?
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: It smells like apple Teeni's yes.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I would like to talk about the fear Factor conversation
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: because we mentioned fear Factor on this show, and at
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: some point in record and filming uh Scrubs, we developed
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Scrubs Factor and we had a bunch of you know,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: and and anyone could be a part of Scrubs Factor
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: as long as you were on in the Scrubs cast
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: or crew. And I remember someone eating hot sauce off
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: of another person's foot after Franklin after a full day
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: of work.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Oh yep, and I remember another one was eating pigs feet.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Yeah, pigs feet.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Got a whole jar of pickled pigs feet and coming
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: then by the way, Randall would have rounded up anywhere
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: from two to five hundred bucks, you know, so it
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: would be quick cash.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Listen, I'm gonna tell you something right now. As
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: an as an African American man, that shit wasn't hard.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Scott Harris, Scott Harris was the one that did that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Who was another African American male.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: Yes, Scott Scott went for the pigs feet and and
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: won the cash.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Yeah he would. He got the cash, and everybody's like,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: eat the pigs feet. And let me tell you something
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: right now, what that ain't ship. So he's just in
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: the world.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: So you in your childhood, when you were growing up,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: you would you would eat pickled pigs feet.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: No, so all right, so listen, this is where soul
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: food came from, all right, little education. When slavery was happened, Uh,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: the slaves weren't given the choice meat, so it was
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: it you wouldn't get the the loin or the or
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: anything like that. You'd get the intestines and that's where uh,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: that's where Chitlin's comes from. And you didn't get the
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: you wouldn't get the meaty part, so you would get
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: the hooks and the feet and everything like that. So
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: that became soul food later on.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: So what you're saying is that Scott Harris hustled us.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: He acted like it was a big deal.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: I'm saying he acted like it was gross, and they
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: wolfed him down right.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: And then afterwards he came up to me, he was like, man,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: that wasn't ship. That was.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: On the other hand.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: On the other hand, by the way, there's nobody that
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: can get me near Franklin god Better's toe.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: There's no way hot sauce on it.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: They had to suck the hot sauce off the big
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: toe after a day of work.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: So after a day of work.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Another one was wasn't there something about spending an hour
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: inside a closed morg drawer.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: It was a night you had to go. You had
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: to sleep at night in a closed more drawer. And
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: no one ever took that up.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: That was there was That's a pretty advanced one.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: What about the young intern He became a sparazzi now,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: and I uh, I believe.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: He paparazzo Donald Paparo, the singular is paparazzo.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Thank you. He became a paparazzo, and I believe now
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: it's a downer. He has a brain tumor. But he
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: was one of our interns and still paint his face
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: with like marker or something like that and had.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: To keep it on for I can't I can't remember that.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: I can't remember that person, and now I feel sad.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, he's sure this was Scrubs. It might have
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: been homiees Pimoni.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: It was definitely Scrubbs. I forget the young man's name,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: but I remember it.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Was like face he had to do face painting for
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: the day and something and keep it one.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: No, it wasn't even faces paint. It was like sharpie.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: He had to he had to put sharpie on his face,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: and he did it, and he had it on for
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: like a week or something like that. It was something ridiculous.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: Let's get back to the episode for second and.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Then last one, and then last one. Mike Schwartz trying
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: to eat twelve Krispy Kreme donuts and failing.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Bill, I get a hug from doctor Cox at three
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: minutes into the episode. Granted it was a sarcastic hugs.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: A sarcastic one.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted to point out that even Scrubs Wiki
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: mentions that JD does get a doctor Cox hug in
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: the season finale, we felt.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: It never counted and we went back to it because
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: it was sarcastic almost immediately the other also left.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: I laughed out loud when I go careful, Tiger, I
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: wish people would call me tiger.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Awesome? Were those Johnny C's shades we always talk.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: About, Johnny and I want to I want to tiptoe
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: around these Oakley's because Johnny C listens to this podcast
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: while he works out, and I don't want him throwing
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: the waist down on the ground.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Just to just to hold on, just to just to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: start it off. John you are ripped in this episode. Yes,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: let's let's first of all, let me just say, I
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: don't know how old were you in your forties when
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: we started this, in your thirties when we started whatever
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: it is, it's working dog, and I wish at right now,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: at forty six, I looked like you did in this
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: episode of Scrubs. Holy cow, dude, you are ripped. That
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: being said was off with them glasses?
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: Dog? All right, I'm not gonna say anything, but I
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: can't imagine a scenario that A.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: I said, let's not shoot this scene until we.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Get those glasses that I saw a dude wearing on
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: the beach in Santa Mona or b that our wardrobe
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: and props people laid out those is one of the
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: choices for his sunglasses.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: But for having them, those are definitely Johnny's. We discussed
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: them before. I think they were his go to Oakley's
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: back in the day.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: But why orange, dude, why are.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: They take along on a guy on a jet ski?
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: That's all I know.
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: Well, they look like my mountain biking glasses. Yes, they're
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: not for for regular wearing around.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Here is in sunglasses that you wear when you're driving
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to make it so that you can see the road better.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Bloo blockers.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Those are blockers, I laughed out loud twelve thirty three.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: When I invite him at dinner, he goes yeah, and
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: then he goes he goes together.
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: I thought this was going to be like a gift certificate.
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: Oh oh, I said, can I buy you. I go,
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: I go, can I buy you dinner? And he goes sure.
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: I go really and it was, oh, you mean together?
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: He goes yeah, absolutely, and you go, that's great because
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I get off for like five minutes.
- 1:06:31Speaker 9: I can't.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: He's like, who whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: I thought this was a gift certificate type situation. No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: No, that's pretty funny. And he thought that I was
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: going to be like, here's a him individion for you
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: to have dinner.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Or you or you could just you can just tell
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: me where you want to eat and I'll pick it
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: up and have it dropped off.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: Now let's talk about Colin hay for a second, because
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Colin Hayes first time being played on the episode on
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: the show was here.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Ma, ma, ma, It's a beautiful world.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Beautiful song, beautiful world. And then he's actually in the
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: season two premiere Bill did how did Colin hay come about?
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Was it through christ huge?
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Huge huge.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: I got to speak for a second before Christa and
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: then she has to talk, which is not enough shout
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: outs for my wife, Zach, you were involved and Neil
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: was involved, but my wife on the show for what
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: it's worth Yeah, No, I know, but I mean I
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: have it. My wife is always been such a key
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: person in me and picking music for my shows and
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: having a taste in it that kind of defines tonally
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: what the show is. And she had taken me to
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: see Colin Hay a bunch at Largo even before our
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: show came out.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Go ahead, Christ, I'm sorry, interrupted.
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: Yeah, So we had we had seen him at Largo,
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: and I loved him and I knew that he was
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: His music was absolutely the right tone for Scrubs, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: so we used a few of Colin's songs on the show.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: And then did you know he could act? Because I
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: think he had. He had been on the Larry Sanders Show, right, Bill,
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: I mean, how did you know? Did you go the
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: idea to put him in the episode?
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: If you it's again it's Krista.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: But if you have a chance to see Colin at Largo,
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: it was, you know, half music and half him going
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: going I sold out Wembley Stadium with a bunch of dudes,
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: and now I'm playing here for forty five of you,
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: you know, and then just making jokes at his own expense.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: And I remember he used to.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: Say all my old mates said I should move to Australia,
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: open a bar called the down Under in Sydney, come
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: out every Saturday at midnight and play that song and
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: I'd be a billionaire, which is probably true, you know
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: what I mean?
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: And then he just tell jokes and stories about that
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: time it was. The show is so funny.
- 1:08:48Speaker 7: Do you want to hear what else is funny about?
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: Colin Hey? So, my uncle for two years used to
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: produce satur.
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: Night Live, and I used to go in high school
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: to watch the musical acts like six o'clock on a Saturday.
- 1:09:02Speaker 6: And then Colin hay Meant at work played Saturday Night Live,
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: and then we hung out with him afterwards.
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: He was a perfect gentleman, wasn't.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: He like that?
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: But we all hung out with him afterwards.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: And then when he did the show, he said to me,
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: your uncle gave me a chance and was so kind
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: to me on Satday Night Live, and it kind of
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: came full circle and he was excited to see me again,
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: and that's cool.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: That's cool. I was going to see him at years
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: of you.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I went with you, dude?
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: Are those of you don't know? Largo is a small,
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: very small music venue since changed, they probably made it bigger.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: But back in the day when we were going, I
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: don't know, it would hold maybe one hundred people, yeah,
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: I think less than that. Yeah, if that, maybe less
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: than that or maybe sixty. And it was a bar
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: and they served food and lots of comedians would would
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: would be there and musicians would be there, and it
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: was a really cool community. And I hadn't heard Colin
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: since he was in Men at work when I was
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: a kid. And then he and we just play his
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: songs acoustically, just him and a guitar, and it was
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: so beautiful because his voice is so incredible, and he
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: would do some covers of Minute Works songs and then
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: he would do a lot of his his own songs,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: his new songs, like Beautiful World that's in this episode.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: And I just don't think I'll ever get over you,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: which I ended up putting in Garden State, But I
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: remember that he was very funny in the episode, and
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: I just, uh, I just wondered where you got the
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: idea to actually put him physically in the show. But
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: there it is from Largo.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: He has some good ones. And then I just don't
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: think I ever get over you. I drink coffee every morning,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: comes from my place. That's fun.
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: By the way, in the history of your podcast, people
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: are gonna be like, when did it go downhill? And
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: they're gonna go when Zach and Donald decided just to
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: have it be them singing favorite songs of theirs everything,
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: that's kind of what it is already.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: That's kind of although I always duck out because Donald
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: has such a sultry, beautiful voice.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Such a good voice. Yeah, I gotta say, since we're
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: doing go ahead, Donald.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Sorry, I do love me some Colin hey though, man.
- 1:11:04Speaker 7: I just he's such a lovely man as well.
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: Yes, I didn't know if we're the show thing yet
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: that I can give my both positive and bone chilling
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: reaction to Donald already said. You know when doctor, when
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: Johnny c says, why don't you stir some things up?
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: When she comes to that table of all you happy
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: people at the end and decides to rip our show
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: apart for the next year, it gave me such glee
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: both to watch how it was performed and how it
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: affected every relationship, but also because you guys are also
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: close in many ways to your you know, your spirits
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: and your personas in real life. It gave me chills
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: because I've had I've been one of the people sitting
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: at that table before with my sons when my wife
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: comes in and says that, he's like, let me let
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: me talk to you guys about.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Your behavior yesterday.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: Thanks when you just get small and just immediately have
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: the By the way, I think Zach's voiceover says.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Uh oh, but the uh uh.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: I've had so many of those, and it was so
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: cool to watch you do it, my love.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: He was so good.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you did a great job with that monologue. Do
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: you remember did you work a lot on that or
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: did you just wing it? I mean, obviously I remember.
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: You know what you guys probably don't remember is that
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: that scene was shot on a Wednesday, and we did
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: Drew Carry on a Tuesday night, and for some reason
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: there was a mess up and I didn't get the script.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: I was doing Drew Carry late and.
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: I didn't get the script for the what that monologue
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: was till midnight, and I was so mad at Bill.
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: I was like, why didn't they deliver me the script early?
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: But it bills like it was out since seven, So
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: I was insane. And then so I had to learn
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: it and Drew went really late that night. I remember
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: being so annoyed, and I was first up, so I
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: had about five hours of sleep, and I didn't know
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: it that well. And I had only you know, I
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: was in the regular, so I'd only done one or
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: two episodes with you guys that season.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: No, this is like your fourth episode, so.
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: Fourth maybe not a lot though, And I came in.
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: I had this monologue and you guys and I kept
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: messing up the lines and I started getting into a
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: shame spiral, and it was Donald.
- 1:13:16Speaker 7: You were like, you got this. You've already done it.
- 1:13:20Speaker 7: You got it.
- 1:13:20Speaker 6: You were so kind to me. Donald, you probably don't remember.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: And I was like, you were like, take a deep breath,
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: you got it. You've done it already. You're just now
- 1:13:30Speaker 6: getting into your head.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I was just telling you all of the stuff that
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: they would tell me all year round.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: He was just regurgitating all the shit people had said
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: to him.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: By the way, you know what part of it was too,
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: my love is.
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: I remember because you were working on a show as
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: a regular in which you had two tries to get
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: it start to finish, you know, because it was multi
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: caam and I remember all of us trying to tell you, no,
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: you've never done it the way you want from the
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: beginning to the end. But you've done every part the
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: way you want, you know what I mean. And then
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: we're gonna cut and you really made you upset.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: I remember that.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: Now, Yeah, But then we got it in one take.
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: And then I also thought, this single camera is different,
- 1:14:14Speaker 6: like I had to do a different way of having
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: to learn things.
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: But I you know, And also it doesn't matter. I
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: realized when you get there, no.
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: One cares that you're working on another show and you
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: were up till one in the morning. Everyone just expects
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: you to know it and be great all the time.
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: And it was just a good It was a good
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: lesson for me and I love Also that monologue was
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: so good.
- 1:14:34Speaker 7: I didn't want to mess it up.
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: I think you did a great job. I think it
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: was a great way to It was a really clever
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: way to end the season too, Bill, because you know,
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: you can't you have to have some sort of cliffhanger.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: And and the whole episode is that we're all working
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: as a team, and you've got this montage set to
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: Colin Hay where we're all coming together and solving a problem.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: It's like, you can't end a season like that. You've
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: got to You've got to blow it up and uh.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: And then I thought that was really clever, how you
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: had just Chris to just come in and just fucking destroy.
- 1:15:00Speaker 7: Everybody, dismantle at all.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: My favorite part was that I wrote it down. Apparently
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: JD is very good in bed. That had not been
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: discussed yet. Oh boy, no, you know, because we didn't
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: see our love.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Be careful, be very careful.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Boy. Listen, dude, you know how to make it uncomfortable characters.
- 1:15:20Speaker 7: It was so good.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: That's what you say.
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: These guys at Krista, they've already done a thing of
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: joking around that. I like watching you kiss other people,
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: which I do not. I don't. No, don't make by
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: the way, don't make that expression, even though people can't
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: see this, don't make the expression.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Don't don't don't you were by the way, I'm a
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: second way from spreading up there for a stop hugging.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: You're not allowed out till five. You're not allowed until five.
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: True, that's a good point.
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: I pictured there's like a bike lock on the outside
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: of the door, and Crystal unlocks it at four.
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: Fifty nine you know what, also, but changing the subject
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: that that moment never happened.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: You can edit that out. I'm sure it's gone.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: The uh I liked after you gave your speech, And
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: I haven't given enough props to Johnny C and Ken.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: First of all, Johnny C's ability to make intense anger
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: seem immediately real. I found myself intimidated even and couldn't
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: imagine what it was like. You know, Donald, you and
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: Zach had to do it all more than anybody to
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: act in the face of that fury. You know what
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: I meant when he Oh, my goodness, it's so loud
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: and so not TV anger. That and I contrasted that
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: to this was the beginning of one of the things,
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: you know, when I say I watched the show and
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: just like stuff and love other stuff. Ken Jenkins as
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: a man was so funny and not just the personified villain,
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: you know, And one of the first things that got
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: us there because he starts changing in the second year.
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: He goes to speak to.
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: Johnny C after that speech, and it does the biggest car,
- 1:16:58Speaker 9: the biggest cartoons spin around, and it's so funny, and
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: I'm like, oh, man, dude, is funny and we should
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: let him be human and quirky and weird.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: I wish he'd come on the show. But he's always moving.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: He's still moving.
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: He's moving while we had didn't. Maybe he didn't runt
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: a truck and he's just just doing it by hand.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: While we have you here, Bill, here's a question that
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: all of the fans are asking us, you know quite
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: a bit, and I know it has a lot to
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: do with schedule or anything like that, but if you
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: could ever see another incarnation of Scrubs, what would be
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: your dream or your if you had to do it,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: what would how would you like to see Scrubs revisited?
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Wown't write to it?
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love the characters so much.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: And I think one of the things that we tried
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: to do on that show is it was an era
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: in which on the sitcoms I grew up with, everybody
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: stayed the exact same from episode one to episode two hundred,
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: and I like to feel that people grew and aged
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: and matured, and so, you know, like it's it's at
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: one point, by the way, Zach and Donald Kristo were
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: constantly pitching me that maybe we should just go shoot
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: Doctor Acula and which would which would be fun. Admittedly,
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: the two of them making that movie and I think
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: it'd be hilarious. But man, I'd love to see who
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: JD was as an adult and a father, and who
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: Donald you know, was with Judy and with their kids.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: And I just would want to visit with these people again.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: That's why I find the idea of doing a whole
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: other series daunting, But the idea of visiting with them
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: and seeing where their lives are at and seeing, you know,
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: how they react to medicine. I'll tell you the example
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: for it is real JD. Okay, not many people know this,
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: but the real JD was a young cardiologist when we
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: started the show. Then he became a heart surgeon and
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: a cardiologist, and then he became so beloved by the
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: interns and residents. He became a huge teaching figure and
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: ultimately the CEO of the Kelso of the hospital.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: He runs the whole hospital.
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: Of Kaiser in Los Felis, and in fact is running
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: their COVID command center now. And the fact that he
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: has gone from the beginning to that very same kind
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: of patriarchal figure that you guys needed. I'd love to
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: see j D and Turk. Doing that for other young people,
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: I would hope that they'd still love medicine.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Emily is here, Emily, it is working.
- 1:19:43Speaker 12: I am so so sorry.
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: Don't worry about Emily.
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: It's not you, miss Emily.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Emily, Emily, Emily, I'm going to be honest with you.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: You are worse than Sarah, but we are still very
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: excited the show.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Sarah had two tries and and mess them both up,
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: whereas Emily is just joining us for the first time.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Emily, Emily, you blew it. But it's okay. I'm gonna
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: give you the speech that Bill gave me. I need
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: you to come in here and bring the energy that
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: you were going to bring the first time.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: That is a callback. That's a callback to Donald's first audition. Goodness,
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: all right, go ahead, Emily. What's your question? You have
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Bill Lawrence, you have Krista Miller, Donald Faison, and myself,
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Zach brad Hi, everyone, and.
- 1:20:32Speaker 12: All right.
- 1:20:33Speaker 11: So I had I didn't know that Bill and Krista
- 1:20:36Speaker 11: were going to be on originally, so I changed my
- 1:20:38Speaker 11: question a little bit.
- 1:20:39Speaker 12: Okay, And since I think you.
- 1:20:41Speaker 11: Guys are talking about the season finale, which talks about
- 1:20:46Speaker 11: like all the impact that the characters had.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry to cut you off. I'm sorry to cut
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you off. I have to cut you off. I'm sorry
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: you have a stethoscope on. Is that a stethoscope?
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Nope, this is my braid.
- 1:20:57Speaker 12: But this is my name badge with my skull.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Okay, are you a doctor or are you I'm not.
- 1:21:03Speaker 12: I'm a EMT flebottomist. Combo. I'm calling from the office
- 1:21:08Speaker 12: right now. I'm hiding in the break room.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: That's awesome. Thank you so much for all the stuff
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: you does.
- 1:21:13Speaker 12: I've got surgeries going on through the other door.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, that is amazing. First of all, thank
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you very much.
- 1:21:21Speaker 12: Oh, thank thank you guys. You guys inspired me.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: Oh that's right off here.
- 1:21:26Speaker 11: But sorry, that's actually part of my question is I'm
- 1:21:29Speaker 11: I'm going to use the just because I'm not a
- 1:21:31Speaker 11: doctor or nurse yet, so I'm just an EMT flebottomist.
- 1:21:35Speaker 11: But have you guys heard from other fans any amazing
- 1:21:39Speaker 11: stories where they said that you got your show inspired them.
- 1:21:44Speaker 12: And that's for all four of you.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: I'll go first. Yeah, all the time. I will. I
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: will encounter nurses and doctors and paramedics and EMTs who
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: say Scrubs was the thing that that got them into it.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: Some say they had no interest before and Scrub and
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: Scrubs and the camaraderie and all the adventure made them
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: want to do it. And then some say they were
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: thinking about it and Scrubs put them over the edge.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, throughout my life there's been lots
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: and lots of people and sometimes I'll be walking along
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: the street and people be like they'll do a double
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: take because they're excited to see me, and I go
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: to talk to him like we'd weird doctors. We just
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: graduated in bed school and we'd scrub is our favorite thing.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: So it's such a good feeling. I mean, to the
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: fact that we could have inspired anybody is a really
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: really good feeling. I'm sure you guys have had the
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: same experience.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Right absolutely. That's also why we you know, we did
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the podcast. Also, this is this isn't just for the
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: fans of Scrubs. This is also for everyone out there
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: in the medical community, you know what I mean. Just
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: the respect and the love that we have for all
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: of you guys is immense. And so you know, when
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: we we were on a show that was a love
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: letter to everybody in that community as well. And so
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: this is all about y'all. So if it inspires anyone,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: if it makes anyone, if it makes anyone feel like
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: they want to get into medical, it makes me happy
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: that I was a part of something that, you know,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: has turned people's lives around. You know, I didn't know
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: what I wanted to do. Then I saw Scrubs, and
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: now I'm a doctor or now i'm you know, I
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: work in the medical profession. So absolutely, it happens all
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: the time, and I'm very I'm I'm very proud that
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I was on something like this that's reached out and
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: touched so many people.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: What about you, guys, Bill end or Christa.
- 1:23:38Speaker 6: I always you know, well, Bill, if he sees a
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: new doctor or has to get his tooth pulled, it's
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: the first thing he drops right.
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: That comes out fast, like he just gets it fast,
- 1:23:55Speaker 7: you know.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: Scrubs.
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: I often have people say to me, doctors and nurses
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: will say that Scrubbs was the first show that they
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: felt accurately portrayed what it's like to be an intern
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: in a resident you know, in terms of all the
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: stories that you guys did and the and the reality
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: of how hard it was, now tiring, et cetera.
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: And Bill, didn't the AMA come out and say we
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: were the most accurate show.
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: They did, They said, we're the most accurate medical show.
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: And first of all, Emily, thanks for doing what you do.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: That's super cool. And uh, secondly, you know it's really weird.
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: We're gonna I'm sure we'll talk about all this stuff
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: too on other podcasts, if you're ever nice enough to
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: have me and or Krista back, or Emily back, or
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: on Emily's podcast. But when you're involved in creating something
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: and it's been years, if you're in you know it's
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: even presumptous to call yourself an artist. You look at
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: these things and you go, here's what I got right,
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: Here's what I got wrong, Here's what I wish I
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: could fix, Here's what I wish I could change. And
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: the one thing that I thought we got right top
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: to bottom, actors, directors, everybody else was because of the
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: real JD said, We're allowed to do as many jokes
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: as we want, as long as you make it clear
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: how much the doctors and nurses truly care and how
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: much they will give everything for patients, and the fact.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: That the AMA this year.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: You know, however, many years after we wrapped twenty year
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: anniversary of the Start whatever, it was asked all of
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: you guys to do their graduation since their graduations got
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: canceled for all the new young doctors.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: Meant so much to me that you guys are still part.
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: Of the lexicon of young people, you know, who aren't
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: going into medicine anymore to be wealthy like the old cliches,
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: are going into it to be of service and to
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: do something really important. That's probably the best thing I'll
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: take from this show, and that's why it's so cool
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: to talk to people like Emily.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Hey, Emily, it seems like you have a lot of
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: people in the room with you. Want to turn the
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: thing around.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: Let's know, she got called into surgery.
- 1:25:59Speaker 12: We need you on the doors saying do not disturb.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Let him come in and let me come in.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Them in and let them.
- 1:26:09Speaker 12: To doctors and a nurse just walk in and they're like.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Guys, no, are they out there in the hall right now?
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Are they in the hall? Tell them to come in?
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: No, don't, don't Yes, yes, sa I want to say, dude,
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: man should be the freaking Queen of the freaking ore.
- 1:26:25Speaker 11: Okay, guys, the Scrubs podcast wants to see you all.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: There's a lot of y'all.
- 1:26:36Speaker 12: Right, Yes, that's part of my clinic.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: All right, that's very cool in my mind. Emily, they
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: were like, we need you stat he's coding, and you
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: were like, shut up, I'm on the podcast.
- 1:26:49Speaker 12: The fact that that hasn't happened yet.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: All right, do you have another question for us? Emily?
- 1:26:55Speaker 12: I do, and it's a little sillier.
- 1:26:58Speaker 11: Go ahead, all right, So, knowing how big of lame
- 1:27:01Speaker 11: is fans, you guys are.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: Yes, except for Christa going, except for Crystal.
- 1:27:08Speaker 11: Or maybe musicals in general, not me? In any Broadway
- 1:27:14Speaker 11: play or production? Which character and which play?
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: Oh, I would be Jean Valjean, you know. But I'm
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: not getting excluded, and I would be Jean Valjean. But
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: I would do it in Paris because I would sing
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: it all on.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: Po con do porcevetu. That's Wames and French.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: It's the only person I know that can sing pieces
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: of lame as in French. Donald, Who would you be.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: If I could be anyone in any Broadway show? Wow?
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: You know the one musical that I loved growing up
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: was Mary Poppins, and we were very lucky to have
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Dick Van Dyke on the on Scrubs uh for one episode.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: So if I could be any character that he played
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: on Broadway, I would love to be Bert from Mary Poppins.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: You'd kill it, kill it.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I would love that.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: Would even do that.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: I'd even do the fake accent and everything. I'd suck
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: up the accident on purpose. Oh Mary Pulpins.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: Wo.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Christy, you would go if Donald started Mary Poppins.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I really, I would call you every day and be
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: like Christa, I got a ticket for you.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: Christy, didn't you come to mind Broadway Musical?
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: Yes, you'd go for Donald?
- 1:28:26Speaker 7: I did. I would go for Donald, but why are
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: you guys pressuring me?
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: This would be one of those things where I pressure you,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: So I'd be like, Yo, come.
- 1:28:33Speaker 7: On, I real wish I would go for Donald. I wouldn't.
- 1:28:37Speaker 7: I'd be mad at him after.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: I'm I'm probably too old to do it now. I'm
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: not sure, but I always wanted to do Annie as Annie,
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: And I'm not sure if it's too late, but.
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: Maybe see if Zach or Donald and christ can finishes Emily.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: One of my favorite lines from a secondary character on
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: the show was, uh, Nurse Roberts had.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: To leave early, your nephew.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: You know what I love about that? Bill we talked
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: about I thought on the show, it's that Nurse Roberts
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: was offended that you would think her nephew would be
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: anything but the lead.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: How could her nephew not this show?
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: She had attitude like, bitch if the show.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: If the show is God's Spell, it would have been God.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: You know God, God.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: Well, Emily, thank you, we're going to keep you on
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: because the show is ending. We've done the show. We've
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: gone through it all. As Howard Stern always says, Krista,
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: what does he say?
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: So you've said it all.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: We've said it all.
- 1:29:51Speaker 7: You've said too much.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: We've said too much. We've said it all. I want
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: to thank Bill and Christa because, uh, this was fun.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: We did a whole season. Guys, we we did a
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: whole season of Scrubs. Rewatch podcast. Congratulations, Yeah, it's really.
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: I want to thank Joel and Daniel to not Daniel
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: after today, but they're both so kind.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I think Dan does not deserve thank you for today.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I disagree with you, Zach. I disagree with you. I
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: tell you something right now. You guys don't know this
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: out there every Tuesday and Thursday. If it wasn't for
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Daniel and Joel, y'all would to hear such crisp recordings
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: and great Hi Larry. Look, if it wasn't for them,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: we wouldn't be here on your podcast, radio thing, whatever
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: That you listen, You listen, listen, I will listen. I
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: want Yeah, I fell asleep while you were doing that monologue. Listen.
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: I want to thank these guys. They do a fantastic job.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: I want to thank everybody for listening. This has really
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: been fun. Donald and I thought this would be a fun,
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: little entertaining thing to do, but then COVID happened and
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: it became our only job and it's been so much fun.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: And it's a great escape, too.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Great escape, and just hearing everything everybody's reaction to it
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: has been been a blast. So so thank you. Thank
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: you for Bill for making all of this happen. Thank
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: you to Christa for so many things, including, as Bill said,
