Latest / Best of the NFL Podcast Network / Can the Chiefs Keep Winning, Sam Darnold, and the Sneaky Good Game of the Week: Good Morning Football Selects
Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. I think the Chiefs showed
- 0:29Speaker 1: us that, you know, they can win a variety of ways, obviously,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but when it does come down to crunch time, no
- 0:34Speaker 1: one is better than them.
- 0:35Speaker 2: And I'm not comparing the.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Way that Buffalo handled the clock at the end versus
- 0:38Speaker 3: the way Kansas City did. But if you look at
- 0:40Speaker 3: time of possession on a piece of paper from that
- 0:42Speaker 3: Chiefs Chargers game, thirty minutes for the Chargers twenty minutes,
- 0:47Speaker 3: like it felt like it was all Chargers. But in
- 0:49Speaker 3: those final six minutes, which wasn't really captured in the highlight,
- 0:52Speaker 3: every time there was a third down conversion to be
- 0:54Speaker 3: made to bleed the clock even more, the Chiefs found
- 0:57Speaker 3: a way. This is the stuff that isn't going to
- 0:59Speaker 3: show up in next gen stats, and this is the
- 1:01Speaker 3: stuff that's not going to show up when we do
- 1:03Speaker 3: all twenty two film. It's just the ability to make
- 1:05Speaker 3: the play when it matters most. I look at the
- 1:08Speaker 3: Chiefs and I'm like this, at some point, it's not
- 1:10Speaker 3: a coincidence. It's not some lucky feather, it's not some
- 1:14Speaker 3: rabbit's foot that's doing this.
- 1:17Speaker 2: They win these games because they.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Know how to win games, and they've got great experience
- 1:22Speaker 3: winning games, and they've been in these big spots. All
- 1:25Speaker 3: due respect to a lot of those Chargers.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Players, they haven't played as big games in the NFL before.
- 1:30Speaker 3: This is the biggest game of many of their careers,
- 1:33Speaker 3: and when they needed to make a stop, they couldn't.
- 1:34Speaker 2: And it's just simply that.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And that's what it's been the last you know, eight
- 1:37Speaker 3: weeks for the Chiefs, whether it was a win over
- 1:39Speaker 3: the Panthers by three points or a win over the
- 1:42Speaker 3: Raiders on Black Friday.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It's not pretty. It's not going to.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Be the stuff that we start to show off doing
- 1:48Speaker 3: flips about mahomes like we used to with no look passes.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And yet you look at the record there as good
- 1:53Speaker 3: as they've ever been in a season. They're twelve and
- 1:55Speaker 3: one right now and they keep on just knocking.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Off division of homes.
- 1:58Speaker 3: They haven't lost in the division yet, they've already clinched
- 2:00Speaker 3: the division title.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Pretty impressive.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Fourth team in five years for Sam Darnold. And it's
- 2:05Speaker 3: a one year deal, so it's likely like fifteen and
- 2:08Speaker 3: six years or is it. This guy's been unbelievable. His
- 2:10Speaker 3: numbers yesterday were incredible.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Guys.
- 2:12Speaker 3: He thre for three hundred and fifty yards, five touchdowns,
- 2:15Speaker 3: no interceptions.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yep. They won the.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Turnover battle three to nothing, and Jefferson and Addison both
- 2:20Speaker 3: went off like, here's my thing with Donald. It's very
- 2:23Speaker 3: easy to look at him and say, Okay, he's a
- 2:25Speaker 3: game manager who's not gonna hurt you.
- 2:26Speaker 2: He's not gonna talk the back. That's not Sam Donald.
- 2:28Speaker 3: He has in the past been the guy that has
- 2:30Speaker 3: thrown the bad interception, or has made the bad fumble,
- 2:32Speaker 3: or has said something afterwards that makes you scratch your
- 2:35Speaker 3: head and say, wait, why. This season, he's completely different.
- 2:38Speaker 3: They rely on his arm to win these games, guys.
- 2:41Speaker 3: And I know you're not looking at it and saying,
- 2:43Speaker 3: all right, Donald's in the same breath as Josh Allen
- 2:45Speaker 3: or Mahomes or even Herbert, But you go back these
- 2:48Speaker 3: last three weeks. Let's start with Chicago outside in overtime.
- 2:51Speaker 3: They got to go ninety yards to win this game
- 2:54Speaker 3: in overtime, and Donald was just a technician on this drive,
- 2:57Speaker 3: perfect on the drive, leads him the whole way. Last
- 2:59Speaker 3: week against the Cardinals. They were down ten in this
- 3:01Speaker 3: game the fourth quarter, it's like, all right, Donald, we're
- 3:04Speaker 3: gonna put the ball in your hands. In the fourth
- 3:06Speaker 3: quarter of that Cardinal's victory, it was Donald Donald, Donald Donald.
- 3:11Speaker 3: And then you go to yesterday and it's the Falcons
- 3:14Speaker 3: and it's we're not just gonna run the ball with
- 3:16Speaker 3: Aaron Jones and and hope for the best.
- 3:19Speaker 2: We're gonna we're just.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Gonna blow these guys out by throwing all over them.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Like Donald's been great, and it's it's a misnomer to
- 3:25Speaker 3: call him a game manager. It's also insulting. It's insulting
- 3:29Speaker 3: the callbo game manager. He has huge numbers this season.
- 3:32Speaker 3: He doesn't throw interceptions. In these last three games, he
- 3:36Speaker 3: has thrown nine touchdown passes and zero picks.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Please game manage that. Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I had the rare opportunity of being with Gronkowski, Brady,
- 3:45Speaker 3: and Edelman on Sunday and was able to talk to
- 3:47Speaker 3: them both on camera and off about this, and like
- 3:50Speaker 3: there are in original responses are just like smirks, like no,
- 3:52Speaker 3: like how is.
- 3:53Speaker 2: He gonna recruit and you're gonna come to our school.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And then you start talking about unpeeling the onion a
- 3:58Speaker 3: little bit, and it's like there might not be an
- 4:00Speaker 3: NFL job waiting.
- 4:01Speaker 2: For Bill Belichick.
- 4:03Speaker 3: A college job might be and right now this is
- 4:06Speaker 3: and by the time you're watching this that news might change.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But he got a staff ready to go.
- 4:12Speaker 3: McDaniels, Patricia, his son is the defensive coordinator up at Washington. Steve,
- 4:17Speaker 3: he might be the coach in waiting. He might say, hey,
- 4:19Speaker 3: bring me to get it. You got Mick Lombardi, who's
- 4:22Speaker 3: Mike's son, who is on all these Belichick staffs, Like
- 4:25Speaker 3: they have a crew ready to go. It's almost like
- 4:27Speaker 3: the Avengers, like.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Where are we going to get the call assembled? Let's
- 4:30Speaker 2: go assemble and let's do it.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I think that it would be a shame if this
- 4:35Speaker 3: crew sat and waited for an NFL job, and that
- 4:38Speaker 3: NFL job wasn't guaranteed yet. Look, three teams are open
- 4:41Speaker 3: right now, the Saints, the Jets, the Bears. From when
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'm gathering, none of those organizations have reached out to Belichick,
- 4:47Speaker 3: even though they are completely free to do so.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I don't know if there's an.
- 4:51Speaker 3: NFL job, And if that's the case, maybe college is
- 4:53Speaker 3: where he should be and he can bring these guys
- 4:55Speaker 3: and he can rebuild the.
- 4:56Speaker 2: North Carolina football program.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I think it's actually the sleeper game of the week.
- 5:01Speaker 2: You've got big.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Shiny ones in Steelers Eagles, and of course we.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Love of our lions built. This might be for a
- 5:08Speaker 2: playoff spot.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Now you look at it and say, why do you
- 5:10Speaker 3: talk six and seven verse eight and five. If the
- 5:12Speaker 3: Colts beat the Broncos head to head, that makes them
- 5:15Speaker 3: seven and seven. It makes the Broncos eight and six.
- 5:17Speaker 3: The Broncos have a fairly difficult schedule left. The Colts
- 5:20Speaker 3: have a cakewalk left. You should see the last three games.
- 5:22Speaker 3: And I think it's cool because you look at these
- 5:24Speaker 3: two quarterbacks, two young guns, going at it, and you
- 5:27Speaker 3: might think, well, Anthony Richardson's in his second year, he's
- 5:29Speaker 3: got all this more experience than bon Knicks. No, no, no, no,
- 5:32Speaker 3: bon Knicks is older. Bon Nicks has played a lot
- 5:34Speaker 3: more football, and bone Knicks comes in with a lot
- 5:38Speaker 3: different of a resume over the course of their time.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And yet Richardson can steal a playoff berth from them.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Colts have a very manageable last few weeks in the season.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Broncos have a far more difficult one. If the Colts
- 5:50Speaker 3: win this game, write it down, we might be seeing
- 5:52Speaker 3: Indianapolis in the playoffs and not Miami and not Denver.
- 5:56Speaker 3: What this did was it opened up a local story
- 5:59Speaker 3: and made it a huge national story. We're starting our
- 6:02Speaker 3: a bloc on a Wednesday in week fifteen to talk
- 6:05Speaker 3: about a very specific issue for a team that should be.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Having no problems at all.
- 6:10Speaker 3: But when you get those comments, and then you get
- 6:13Speaker 3: Brandon Graham, who I love and it's a fifteen year
- 6:15Speaker 3: veteran and I'm sure regrets the second he said those
- 6:17Speaker 3: words about friends, it now becomes this other issue. But
- 6:21Speaker 3: then it also opens the microscope to those of us
- 6:24Speaker 3: who wouldn't have been looking at it this way, to say, well, actually,
- 6:27Speaker 3: what is the problem. The Philly passing attack has been
- 6:31Speaker 3: dreadful this year.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You saw the stats.
- 6:34Speaker 3: They have two hundred yards receiving on average, thirtieth in
- 6:37Speaker 3: the league. If you go through the history of teams
- 6:39Speaker 3: that go on to win Super Bowls, as they at
- 6:41Speaker 3: least have something in the top half when it comes
- 6:44Speaker 3: to that, I actually went and did the deep dive.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I listened to the.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Entire Brandon Graham interview full hour, a full hour like
- 6:50Speaker 3: maybe this was taken out of context. BG's been a
- 6:53Speaker 3: guy that we've had on the show a million times.
- 6:55Speaker 2: He's no dummy.
- 6:56Speaker 3: He wouldn't say something to cause problems. Kind of wasn't
- 6:59Speaker 3: out of context. It was really just he threw it
- 7:01Speaker 3: out there and you're like, wait.
- 7:02Speaker 2: What was that?
- 7:03Speaker 3: And now it's going to be dissected by all of
- 7:05Speaker 3: us talking on ESPN, NFL Network and of course all
- 7:09Speaker 3: of the other shows and especially locally.
- 7:11Speaker 2: What does that all meant? They have to fix this
- 7:14Speaker 2: passing game.
- 7:14Speaker 3: It is now an issue because it's become a national
- 7:17Speaker 3: issue and they can't go on with every single week
- 7:19Speaker 3: having to deal with this, and that's when it becomes
- 7:21Speaker 3: a distraction.
- 7:22Speaker 2: The truth of the matter is Jalen hurts.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Hey, if you ask me, will you take this this
- 7:26Speaker 3: record at this point in the season.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Of course, stats wise no. If you're an AJ Brown.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Or Davonte Smith, and you'd say would you take it
- 7:35Speaker 3: record wise yet?
- 7:35Speaker 2: But stats wise no?
- 7:37Speaker 3: At some point, the fear is this is going to
- 7:39Speaker 3: catch up with them. But Kellen Moore, AJ Brown, Davante Smith,
- 7:43Speaker 3: and of course they're without Dallas Goddard now, which hurts.
- 7:45Speaker 3: He's in such a key part of that offense. I
- 7:48Speaker 3: feel like this weekend it has to be now a
- 7:49Speaker 3: concerted effort to get that going. I'm not sure it
- 7:52Speaker 3: would have been such a concerted effort in the game
- 7:54Speaker 3: plan to get these guys the rock early and to
- 7:57Speaker 3: make sure AJ's happy had this all blown up the
- 8:00Speaker 3: way it.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Has in the last three days.
- 8:01Speaker 3: So my long answer to the short question is yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 3: I think it's a distraction. I think it's something they
- 8:07Speaker 3: have to all deal with and they have to open
- 8:08Speaker 3: up and talk about.
- 8:09Speaker 2: It might be good in the long term, but you
- 8:11Speaker 2: better believe they're going.
- 8:12Speaker 3: To try to get that passing game going against Pittsburgh,
- 8:13Speaker 3: maybe even more so than they would have been to
- 8:15Speaker 3: just say, hey, running the ball with Saquon works, we're
- 8:17Speaker 3: all happy, we're all winning.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Apparently that's not the case. What's up, everybody?
- 8:37Speaker 3: Welcome back to Good Morning Football.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And they've been another week of the Fab Five.
- 8:40Speaker 3: This segment we give the top five rookies of the
- 8:43Speaker 3: week their due. Now, in some weeks we have an
- 8:46Speaker 3: incredible list of household first round picks, and other.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Weeks it's guys you might not know.
- 8:51Speaker 3: This is one of those other weeks, And I'm so
- 8:53Speaker 3: happy to share some of these names.
- 8:55Speaker 2: The first one, you.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Do know, come on, because he's in the conversation for
- 8:57Speaker 3: defensive Rookie of the Year and he was outstanding again
- 9:00Speaker 3: on Sunday. That's Quinion Mitchell, the rookie corner for the
- 9:04Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Over the field thirty five snaps. They threw out him
- 9:09Speaker 2: four times, he only give up nineteen yards. Now he
- 9:12Speaker 2: lined up.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Across that fellow rookie, Xavier Leaguette, who has been having
- 9:16Speaker 3: an outstanding second half of the season. Lagett and him
- 9:19Speaker 3: one had had seventeen times. Do you know how many
- 9:21Speaker 3: times Bryce Young threw the ball at Mitchell? Zero? Zero
- 9:27Speaker 3: times did Bryce Young throw the battle leget when he
- 9:29Speaker 3: was covered by Mitchell. Now, Mitchell in the season has
- 9:33Speaker 3: been an absolute dog.
- 9:34Speaker 2: He has ten passes.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Defended, tied amongst all rookies, and has yet zero past
- 9:39Speaker 3: interference penalties against him.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Really cool stat. He was outstanding again. Now Cooper Dejemed
- 9:45Speaker 2: got picked on a little bit in this game.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Quean Mitchell did not quew Mitchell has been a stud
- 9:50Speaker 3: throughout and he's one of those rare corners that is
- 9:52Speaker 3: outstanding since day one in the league.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Our number four is a.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Guy who stepped it up in a big moment when
- 9:59Speaker 3: the first two players at his position were down. It's
- 10:02Speaker 3: running back Isaac Garndo from the forty nine ers.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Let's go. Everyone picked him up in fin fantasy.
- 10:10Speaker 3: You had no McCaffrey, you had no Mason, and Grendo delivered.
- 10:14Speaker 2: This was his first NFL start.
- 10:16Speaker 3: But here's the crazy stab, and they set it on
- 10:18Speaker 3: the broadcast. He only started one game his entire college career.
- 10:23Speaker 3: He played at Wisconsin and Louisville and only started one game.
- 10:27Speaker 3: In those two combined places. He had seventy eight rushing yards,
- 10:31Speaker 3: two rushing touchdowns, he had two catches, and he had
- 10:35Speaker 3: fifty yards receiving.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Girndo a hugein Now.
- 10:38Speaker 3: He got hurt at the end of this game and
- 10:40Speaker 3: he had a foot sprain, so we're not sure we're
- 10:42Speaker 3: going to see him tomorrow night against the Rams. They
- 10:44Speaker 3: already went to Patrick Taylor, his backup in the fourth
- 10:48Speaker 3: quarter of this game.
- 10:49Speaker 2: So Gorendo doing this and then he got hurt, But
- 10:52Speaker 2: we have to give him his love.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Isaac Girndo, Peter, I'm picking on Patrick Taylor right now.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Time to get doctor Taylor.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Min segment and get Patrick Taylor's back up.
- 11:01Speaker 2: There we go. You know they run the ball in
- 11:03Speaker 2: San Francisco.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Number three, it's a rookie wide receiver of the University
- 11:07Speaker 3: at Washington. It's not Jalen Polk, it's not Roe mcdoonsday.
- 11:10Speaker 3: It's Jalen McMillan, the rookie for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- 11:15Speaker 3: who had a big day against the Raiders. McMillan had
- 11:18Speaker 3: fifty nine yards receiving, but he had two receiving touchdowns.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Both of them key in this victory.
- 11:25Speaker 3: He had two career games with two plus receiving touchdowns
- 11:28Speaker 3: in his entire career at college, and yet he did
- 11:31Speaker 3: it twice here in this game against the Raiders as
- 11:34Speaker 3: a rookie. The cool part about McMillan's weekend he turned
- 11:37Speaker 3: twenty three on Saturday and on Sunday catches two touchdown passes.
- 11:43Speaker 3: A loaded rookie wide receiver class this year, Jalen McMillan
- 11:48Speaker 3: is performing at as high as a level as just
- 11:50Speaker 3: about anybody.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Every week.
- 11:51Speaker 3: He has become a guy that Baker Mayfield can trust.
- 11:54Speaker 3: We see you, Jalen McMillan, Number three on this list.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Number two It's a player whose name we mentioned on
- 12:00Speaker 3: the show a couple of weeks ago, and he has
- 12:02Speaker 3: been just a force for a hot.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Team in the NFL.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Get to know see Hawks linebacker ty Reese Knight. Ty
- 12:10Speaker 3: Reeves Knight getting out there and has been absolutely awesome.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Guys.
- 12:14Speaker 3: He had twelve tackles in this win against the Cardinals
- 12:19Speaker 3: on Sunday. He had two passes defended as well. He
- 12:23Speaker 3: leads all rookies and tackles since he became the starter
- 12:26Speaker 3: in Week ten.
- 12:27Speaker 2: The Seahawks are six.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And one in twenty twenty four when Knight plays at
- 12:31Speaker 3: least ten snaps on defense. Their only lost was when
- 12:34Speaker 3: they played the Lions, who basically have beaten everybody. Now,
- 12:37Speaker 3: as we know Tyrese Knight, the linebacker, Mike McDonald is
- 12:41Speaker 3: a former linebackers coach. Knight is the only linebacker that
- 12:45Speaker 3: the Seahawks drafted in the draft this year. They've been
- 12:49Speaker 3: shuffling linebackers all season. They had Dodson, they waved Baker,
- 12:52Speaker 3: they traded, they traded, Ernest Jones came in, and then
- 12:55Speaker 3: they got.
- 12:56Speaker 2: This guy at Knight.
- 12:57Speaker 3: And I'll tell you, what he's doing is outstanding. And
- 12:59Speaker 3: if you look at the record the Seahawks. They are
- 13:01Speaker 3: one of the best teams in the NFL over the
- 13:04Speaker 3: past four weeks. But who's number one? Who is number
- 13:07Speaker 3: one on the list? Quarterbacks were on bie weeks. Caleb
- 13:10Speaker 3: didn't play particularly great. Can't throw him in here.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Usually it's a quarterback, we love the quarterback. It's a
- 13:15Speaker 2: wide receiver this week.
- 13:16Speaker 3: And it's a guy who has not been on this
- 13:18Speaker 3: list often because his team is usually on the losing end,
- 13:21Speaker 3: but he has had an out standing rookie season. In
- 13:23Speaker 3: his first round pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brian Thomas
- 13:27Speaker 3: Jude all Right. Thomas was awesome Sunday against the Titans.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Big numbers and if you played fantasy and you started him,
- 13:34Speaker 3: you might have gotten into the playoffs because of his performance.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Eight catches eighty six receiving yards in the jags first
- 13:43Speaker 3: win since October. It was his seventh game of the
- 13:47Speaker 3: season with seventy five receiving yards or more.
- 13:50Speaker 2: You want a cool stat.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Only one player has more games of seventy five receiving
- 13:55Speaker 3: yards or more and that's another former LSU star, Justin Jefferson.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Thomas has been great all season. It's a shame we
- 14:01Speaker 3: haven't had on this list that often the Jaguars just
- 14:04Speaker 3: don't win enough. We like to reward the winners. Look
- 14:06Speaker 3: at Thomas here as far as rookie ranks go in
- 14:09Speaker 3: a loaded wide receiver class, fourth in reception, second and
- 14:12Speaker 3: receiving yards, second.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And receiving touchdowns.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Neale Dahldon the twenty plus receiving yards.
- 14:17Speaker 2: He was really good on Sunday.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Twelve targets, eight catches, eighty six yards. Brian Thomas Junior,
- 14:23Speaker 3: we see you, and there you have it, folks. It's
- 14:26Speaker 3: my fabulous five and an orthodox list compared to some others.
- 14:29Speaker 3: These are not your typical names that you'd see of
- 14:32Speaker 3: just littered with first round picks. We got two of them,
- 14:34Speaker 3: and then you got guys who would stepping it up
- 14:36Speaker 3: night McMillan and Grindo. Hopefully we see Grendo tomorrow.
- 14:39Speaker 2: We'll see spring.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Foot usually doesn't bode well, Kyle, your thoughts on a
- 14:43Speaker 3: very unusual fat fuck.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I will keep banging the drummer, banging the bricks for
- 14:50Speaker 2: this guy. Jake Freaking Baits. Jake Bates was a brick salesman.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Guys, a brick salesman as early as last spring, and now.
- 15:01Speaker 2: He is the kicker for argue me, the best.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Team at all of football, and he's winning games week
- 15:06Speaker 3: after week after week. The trust that they have in
- 15:08Speaker 3: Jake bates the fact that Dan Campbell throws this guy
- 15:12Speaker 3: a game ball every single locker room speech.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And now he's like, guys, so let's keep on.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Fighting one week at a time, Pleas you're playing for
- 15:19Speaker 3: you boys.
- 15:19Speaker 2: He's one of the guys.
- 15:21Speaker 3: It's one of the best stories you all have ever imagined,
- 15:23Speaker 3: from the UFL where he would bang in these sixty
- 15:26Speaker 3: yarders to not being with an NFL team, to then
- 15:29Speaker 3: the Detroit Lions saying, hey, you're with us doing the
- 15:32Speaker 3: bringing in the boom big Justice.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And agent we bring them boo. Love this guy.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Jake Freaking Baits is my story of the year. I
- 15:39Speaker 3: love his deal and I think he's gonna have to
- 15:41Speaker 3: make a big kick in a big game soon and
- 15:43Speaker 3: we're gonna see if he's up for the challenge. Each
- 15:45Speaker 3: week on this show, we gave a Coach of the
- 15:47Speaker 3: Week award. Sometimes it's a coordinator, sometimes its assistant. Sometimes
- 15:50Speaker 3: it's just the head coach of a team that got
- 15:52Speaker 3: a big win. Week fourteen's case we're giving it to
- 15:54Speaker 3: Sean McVay aved to make a big decision. On fourth
- 15:57Speaker 3: and five, with the ball and a lead, do you punt?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Do you kick a field goal, a long one with
- 16:02Speaker 3: a rookie kicker, or do you decide to go for it? McVeigh,
- 16:05Speaker 3: with the time I'm ticking away here, decides let's rely
- 16:09Speaker 3: on two to.
- 16:10Speaker 2: At Well on a crossing route.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Not Nakua, not Karen Williams, and not Cooper Cup but
- 16:15Speaker 3: two to two at Well coming across the middle gets
- 16:18Speaker 3: the play.
- 16:18Speaker 2: This was just one of.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Several gutsy calls, but also one of several huge offensive
- 16:24Speaker 3: plays for.
- 16:24Speaker 2: The La Rams yesterday.
- 16:26Speaker 3: This is the credit to both Sean and Mike Lafleur,
- 16:29Speaker 3: the offensive coordinator, and of course the players who did this.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Four hundred and fifty seven yards, one hundred and thirty
- 16:36Speaker 3: seven rushing yards, forty two rushing attempts, six different offensive touchdowns.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I know, yeah, Kuka Nakua had one hundred and sixty
- 16:43Speaker 3: two receiving yards.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Sean mcvay's team needed to win.
- 16:47Speaker 3: They got the win, and they beat a team that
- 16:49Speaker 3: looked like they were unbeatable coming into this game.
- 16:52Speaker 2: In the Buffalo Bills. Sean McVay is our head coach
- 16:55Speaker 2: of the week.
- 17:03Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 17:06Speaker 1: NFL and partnership with iHeartRadio.
