- 0:36Dayna Roselli: Let's get to it and spin that wheel.
- 0:44Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 129, and summer is just it is absolutely flying by.
- 0:52Sean McAllister: We're already in August, and July seems like it was just like a blip on the radar, doesn't it?
- 0:57Dayna Roselli: It really does.
- 0:58Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli here, John McAllister.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: I am like, it's so humid here.
- 1:02Dayna Roselli: It feels like New York.
- 1:03Dayna Roselli: What's going on?
- 1:04Sean McAllister: I know.
- 1:04Sean McAllister: Everyone's having hair issues because we're not used to having this kind of humidity in the air.
- 1:10Sean McAllister: It's rained just about every other day, if not every day.
- 1:15Sean McAllister: Like little bits.
- 1:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah, five minutes.
- 1:17Dayna Roselli: Today we got a five-minute rain shower.
- 1:19Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: But there's been flash flood warnings, there's been thunderstorms, which I love a good thunderstorm.
- 1:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: I really do, and I missed them the last few years.
- 1:28Sean McAllister: We hadn't gotten a lot of rain.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: No, and you know, I don't think we've had a podcast since we had that big downpour and storm.
- 1:35Sean McAllister: No, we haven't.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: The rest of the world thinks that we're all like over here underwater.
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: Underwater, and you know, the the roof at Plant Hollywood.
- 1:44Dayna Roselli: There was video of it like kind of coming down right on some of the gaming tables.
- 1:48Dayna Roselli: Circa resort up in downtown Las Vegas.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: The entire sports book flooded.
- 1:52Dayna Roselli: Um, I saw Derek Stevens post a video after that.
- 1:55Dayna Roselli: He was a great sport and said, you know what, we're open today.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Thanks for everyone's support.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: I mean, everyone handled it really quick, but there were all sorts of casinos that were flooded, and everyone's like, How did this happen?
- 2:06Sean McAllister: I don't know, but and by the way, we're about uh a week uh out from when that flooding happened.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: It was we're recording this on Thursday.
- 2:17Sean McAllister: It was Thursday of last week, right, when all that crazy rainstorm, like back-to-back storm cells came through, lots of rain, torrential downpours.
- 2:29Sean McAllister: Um, and I just saw that the circus sportsbook is back fully open again.
- 2:35Dayna Roselli: Oh, good.
- 2:35Sean McAllister: So that's good that they got things you know back to where they needed to be.
- 2:40Sean McAllister: It was a mess for a lot of casinos.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: It really was.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, and it was a bit unexpected.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: Like I've been here a long time, you have too.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: I don't know that I've ever seen damage like that inside hotel casinos.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: We have our normal spots that always flood.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: And really, behind the link is kind of a spot that floods all the time, but it's more of a flood channel, actually.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: It's almost supposed to move the water through.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: And I know our friend uh Kip Kelly on Twitter was saying everyone was texting him asking if he was okay, thinking we're completely underwater, and then he was sending people a picture of sunny skies and you know, a hundred degrees the next day, because that's how we roll.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: It looks like, you know, absolute hell, and then we're just you know back to normal.
- 3:19Sean McAllister: Well, in the flooding, even in uh parts of downtown Las Vegas on just the roadways, there was up to a foot and a half of water in some places.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:28Sean McAllister: But that's kind of like I had uh, you know, working in TV, we've had meteorologists around us for years, and one meteorologist I used to work with said that Las Vegas is kind of like a bathtub.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: The mountains around us are like the edges of the bathtub, the the and picture it with a drain in the center, and that's how Las Vegas is shaped.
- 3:51Sean McAllister: So it's like the low spots in the center of this valley, and so when when it rains, all the water just comes down to one spot.
- 3:59Sean McAllister: And we have had some great flood control, you know, channels that have been built, and so when you see flooding happen in Las Vegas, I my point is it drains pretty quickly after the rains come, but for a period of time, there is a bunch of water around.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and and and there was a lot of cleanup, you know, like branches and stuff that gets washed along with it, and you know, garbage and all sorts of stuff that like gets picked up and moved.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: So definitely uh a big cleanup after that, that's for sure.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: It's funny because you and I were hosting a pilot game show that night, and we were there for about 10 hours, so we missed the entire thing.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: We were looking on our phone, but the funny part was is we were in the Luxor, and I was saying to you, like, we're in the best hotel casino for a storm because when the rain hits the Luxor, it just goes right down the side.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: Right down the side because we're in like a big trying to do that.
- 4:53Sean McAllister: Well, and it's funny because the next day when I had to be back down on the strip for something, I forget what, but I was looking at the uh casinos on the strip that flooded, and they do a lot of them have flat roofs, like the at Caesar's Palace.
- 5:09Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: The roof over their casino portion is a flat roof, they don't have hotel rooms built over top of the casino.
- 5:19Sean McAllister: It's just like kind of a one-story structure.
- 5:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, you know, Planet Hollywood, same thing.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: It's like they have the flat roof over the casino area.
- 5:28Sean McAllister: So that does make it more prone to flooding when you don't have those structures built over the big common areas.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: Well, and speaking of odd-shaped buildings, I guess that moves us right into what we wanted to talk about first today, and that's the MSG Sphere, which is being constructed right now and really coming along.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: If you've driven by that area near the Venetian, um, it's a huge, huge sphere that they're building.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: It's a$1.8 billion arena, and it's gonna have this incredible LCD screen around the whole thing.
- 6:05Dayna Roselli: We've been talking about it for a while, but set to open in 2023.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: But we had a big announcement recently, and we thought, you know what?
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: We haven't told everyone about this yet.
- 6:14Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 6:14Sean McAllister: Uh, Rock Legends, U2 are reportedly, this is according to Billboard, going to be uh the first headliners announced at the sphere, which is an incredibly huge get for Las Vegas.
- 6:30Sean McAllister: Huge.
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: I don't even because U2's never had a you know, quote unquote residency here.
- 6:35Sean McAllister: No.
- 6:36Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, it's cool because it's like a brand new feel and vibe and you know, show for Las Vegas.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: Um, and they're legends, like you said.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: So I think it's cool, and I think I think it's gonna be cool to see what they do over there and how they make the experience different.
- 6:53Dayna Roselli: You know, it's supposed to be immersive and uh and a whole new experience in in ex in in live concerts.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: So I mean, I I don't know what they're gonna do, but I can only imagine it's gonna be really cool.
- 7:04Sean McAllister: I mean, and with the visuals that uh you're able to uh really immerse everybody into, you know, with I think inside that sphere, um the audience will be surrounded with 270 degrees of uh screens, and that goes above them, behind them, to the side.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: So it really is going to be a very cool place for artists to perform because there's just so much creativity that goes into it.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: The last uh several years ago, it's several years ago now, like five years ago maybe.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: I saw you two, I believe, at MGM's Grand Garden Arena.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: They were here on tour, and you know, they had all these stages with these, you know, LED light panel boxes that were coming up and down, and so they're used to dealing with visuals, so it'll be cool to see what they do in this new space.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really will.
- 8:04Dayna Roselli: Um and they're gonna be doing, I guess, um, a several months that they've committed to, and they will perform on non-consecutive days.
- 8:13Dayna Roselli: So that's some of the information coming in.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: And the sphere will be connected to the Venetian via this like 1,000 foot-long pedestrian bridge, too.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: So you'll be able to get over from there.
- 8:22Dayna Roselli: So anyway, love a new update on the sphere because we're all watching it and just uh in Marvel going, you know, what is this thing gonna look like in the end and what's it what's it going to be like?
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: So excited to have you two coming as the first headliner.
- 8:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, and speaking of uh musicians, we didn't have this on our uh list of things to talk about, Dana, but I did want to mention um it was just announced that Bruno Mars, who is a headliner at Park MGM, is going to be opening his own lounge on the Las Vegas strip.
- 8:52Sean McAllister: It's called Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars, and it's going to occupy the space that is now known as Lily Bar and Lounge inside of Balagic.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay, right.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: I like the Lily Lounge.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 9:06Sean McAllister: I know, but that'll be cool.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: You know, Bruno, I bet it's going to be a super cool vibe, especially, you know, considering the vibe that Silksonic brings.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: I wonder if it'll have like that kind of funkadelic.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: Right, I'm sure it will.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, and that's a good shag room kind of spot.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: I think Bellagio needs more lounges like that, too, you know?
- 9:25Sean McAllister: It used to.
- 9:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, it used to be.
- 9:26Sean McAllister: And it was great.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: So I agree.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: So that's cool.
- 9:29Dayna Roselli: Bruno Marr is opening a lounge.
- 9:31Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 9:32Dayna Roselli: Well, also in the Bellagio, they announced that they're doing this new dinner there.
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: And we thought we'd chat about this just for a second because I'm just gonna say it right off the bat.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: It's pretty expensive, which makes you know right off the bat that this is something that I mean, if you want to come splurge in Vegas and have an experience like no other, you might want to do this.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: So it's the iconic Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens right there next to the front lobby.
- 9:57Dayna Roselli: You know, beautiful space.
- 9:58Dayna Roselli: They change it up all the time depending on the season, lovely gardens.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Well, they're doing this uh thing called the garden table.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: It's available for brunch or dinner, and it invites guests basically to enjoy this Epicurean adventure at a table set within this the beauty of the Bellagio like floral masterpiece there.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: So it's a special prefix menu, and there's a whole lineup, and and I don't know, maybe we'll post this at some point on Twitter or whatever, what it actually includes.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: But you sit, and I think it's right next to the restaurants there in that there's kind of like a gazebo-ish looking thing.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: I think it's right in there is where they put the table.
- 10:40Dayna Roselli: So uh, but it's$250 per person exclusive of tax gratuity and beverages.
- 10:48Dayna Roselli: It's available Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: to 10 p.m.
- 10:52Dayna Roselli: And that's the dinner part.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: And that's by chef Michael Mina.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: And then they're, like I said, they're doing like a breakfast too.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: But it's a whole big experience.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: There's tons of details to it, but if you want to splurge and do something like this, I mean 250 a person is is worth it for the experience.
- 11:12Sean McAllister: Well, and that's what it is.
- 11:13Sean McAllister: It's a very exclusive experience.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: It's not like you're going into a small restaurant with a handful of tables.
- 11:20Sean McAllister: No, no, no.
- 11:21Sean McAllister: Like you are the only person doing this experience as it's going on.
- 11:27Sean McAllister: So it's not like you have other people around, except for the people who are there to visit the Bellagio Conservatory.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: But I mean, this is like a very one-on-one personal, upscale, high-end dining experience that I mean, you're not gonna get anywhere else.
- 11:46Sean McAllister: No, it really is cool.
- 11:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a cool idea, so I love it.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: Uh Bellagio unveiling that just recently, and I believe it's it's up and running, so go check it out.
- 11:57Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, Calvin Harris returning to the strip this time at XS Nightclub, where apparently he hasn't been or appeared in over a decade.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: I didn't realize that.
- 12:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's kind of crazy.
- 12:08Sean McAllister: I guess he's been more over at like Omnia and Hakasan uh for his Vegas appearances.
- 12:15Sean McAllister: Um I r I remember talking about Calvin Harris all the time because he was here performing, like during his when he was with Taylor Swift.
- 12:25Dayna Roselli: Remember that?
- 12:26Sean McAllister: And then like, didn't he get into a car accident at leaving a parking garage or something?
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't know.
- 12:31Sean McAllister: There was something that happened.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:33Sean McAllister: I think that was in the Taylor era too.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 12:35Sean McAllister: But anyway, that's a that's a sidebar.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:38Sean McAllister: Calvin Harris is back uh XS Nightclub.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, one night only, but you know, probably not the only time that um you'll be seeing him here in Las Vegas, but at XS anyway.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's September 17th.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: Um, if you're interested in going over there, I'm sure it'll be packed, right?
- 12:58Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: And speaking of, you know, celebrity appearances, um, there is a new restaurant that has just opened here on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 13:08Sean McAllister: It's called Tokamadera, and it promises to be the new celebrity hotspot.
- 13:16Sean McAllister: Um, they have a restaurant already in West Hollywood.
- 13:20Sean McAllister: They have one, I believe, in Orange County.
- 13:23Sean McAllister: Uh, they have another one in Scottsdale down in Arizona.
- 13:29Sean McAllister: Um, but this is uh by the nightlife and dining group Noble 33.
- 13:37Sean McAllister: Um they spent something like 10 million bucks on this restaurant.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 13:41Sean McAllister: I went in there uh for a little preview dinner last night, and I mean it is uh a whole vibe.
- 13:48Sean McAllister: It's like a Mexican restaurant with a Japanese interesting twist.
- 13:54Sean McAllister: Okay, which is kind of cool, and you wouldn't think that that goes together, but it does.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: And they do it the way that they have the menu, um the decor is beautiful, the food is phenomenal.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:11Sean McAllister: I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it was it really everything we had was delicious.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: Oh good.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: And and it's right, just in case you're curious, uh, it's in the old spot where Todd English pub used to be.
- 14:24Dayna Roselli: Then it was called, I think, the pub, and now it's this.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: And somebody had said, I remember I even like tweeting, like, oh, a Mexican restaurant's going in there, and everyone's like, oh, we don't need another Mexican restaurant, but I didn't realize it was gonna be like at this level, you know, like it being, you know, yeah.
- 14:38Dayna Roselli: I just thought it was just gonna be some Mexican restaurant joint.
- 14:41Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: You know what I mean?
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: But like I didn't think it was gonna be like a high-level restaurant, and like, you know, Mexican with a Japanese inspired.
- 14:47Dayna Roselli: Like that's cool.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: I like that idea for there.
- 14:49Sean McAllister: Their cocktail menu, incredible.
- 14:52Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 14:53Sean McAllister: Um, so there's a lounge when you walk in with a bar, and then there's a dining room behind that.
- 14:59Sean McAllister: There's a private dining room, and also um a VIP dining room, which is also super cool.
- 15:06Sean McAllister: Um, live entertainment happening as well.
- 15:09Sean McAllister: We're gonna get into all of it.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: We're gonna go back and really have the experience again, and then give you our whole experience.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: But just wanted to let you know, Toca Madeira open over at the shops at Crystals.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: And who knows, you might see a celebrity there.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: And the reason we say that, real quick, is I talked to one of the managers over there.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: I was doing a Vegas onshoot, and he said, We've got this restaurant coming in that is going to be a celebrity hotspot.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: So that was from his mouth.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: He said that uh they expect a lot of celebrities to visit over there.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: So that's cool.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: And a place we've already seen celebrities at the grand opening was at Lisa Vanderpump's new restaurant over at Paris, Las Vegas.
- 15:47Sean McAllister: And Dana, you were saying you were just over there, and it looked like there were a bunch of celebrities by the way people were acting.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: Sean, it was like a Tuesday at like 6 p.m.
- 15:58Dayna Roselli: I'm walking by to meet my friend at Paris who was in town visiting, and I'm like, what's going on?
- 16:04Dayna Roselli: Like, where are all these, like what something's going on outside, you know, Vanderpomp.
- 16:08Dayna Roselli: But it was people waiting to like get in or trying to get in.
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: Before I went, I was looking for a restaurant in Paris Hotel that I could meet my friend.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: Like, oh, what's open, you know, what's not booked and stuff.
- 16:22Dayna Roselli: And Vanderpomp Apuree was completely booked.
- 16:25Dayna Roselli: And so I walked by, and it's like, yeah, it was like people were on their phones trying to like and trying to, you could tell schmooz the hostesses to get in.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: And I was like, that Lisa Vanderpomp.
- 16:36Dayna Roselli: Remember, we mentioned that the one at Caesars is always the same.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: And I wondered if this would be that way, but that whole pathway leading up there was not busy.
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: So it's not like the Paris was busy, and you know, it was like basically everyone was gathered around Lisa Vanderpomp's new cocktail lounge.
- 16:53Dayna Roselli: So it's an attraction.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: It's an attraction.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: She, I swear, whatever she touches just turns to cold.
- 16:59Sean McAllister: I mean, she has the she has the secret sauce.
- 17:03Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 17:03Sean McAllister: Whatever it is.
- 17:04Sean McAllister: She knows exactly what she's doing, and people do just flock to her restaurants and and night spots.
- 17:12Sean McAllister: Right.
- 17:12Dayna Roselli: It's it was insane.
- 17:14Dayna Roselli: So um that uh safe to say that that restaurant is doing well.
- 17:17Sean McAllister: So you didn't eat there.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: Where did you eat?
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Well, we ate at Gordon Ramsay's uh Hell's Kitchen, oh not Hell's Kitchen.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: Why am I gonna say Gordon Ramsay Steak?
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: Gordon Ramsay Steak, which I had never been.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: You recommended, and I said I was meeting my friend there, but it was booked on open table.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: And so I thought, well, let's just try and like walk in and see what happens.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: And they let us in, they had a space for us, which was really nice.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: Um, side note, gonna backtrack, I walked by Martha Stewart's restaurant and it wasn't open yet.
- 17:41Dayna Roselli: It said coming soon.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: We recently just looked it up and it looks like it's possibly open now.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: So now oh, the Bedford.
- 17:48Dayna Roselli: The Bedford.
- 17:48Dayna Roselli: So that's next to Vanderpump Apuri.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: Then we bend around.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: So we go to yeah, Gordon Ramsay's steak.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: I've never been, I've never even been inside.
- 17:57Dayna Roselli: I don't know why, but I guess I haven't.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we went there, we got in.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: First of all, the staff that greets you there is so nice.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: Like they are they really are like, is this your first time?
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: Welcome.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: They did offer a little prefix thing if you wanted.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: The waiter comes, tells you what you can get for the prefix, and it's like, you know, appetizers and your main dishes and a dessert and a wine.
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: Um, but we passed on that because we both kind of wanted to get something that was off the beaten path of that.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: I had a great steak though, some great sides.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: Uh the Caesar salad was delicious.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: It's definitely pricey there.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: It's expensive.
- 18:30Sean McAllister: It is.
- 18:31Sean McAllister: So it's like a strip steakhouse.
- 18:33Sean McAllister: It is, yeah.
- 18:33Sean McAllister: Price-wise.
- 18:34Dayna Roselli: And they said one of the chefs from Hell's Kitchen, one of the winners, was in the kitchen that night.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: So that was kind of fun.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: And then um, we decided to go somewhere else different for uh dessert.
- 18:46Dayna Roselli: And so that's gonna be in my tip segment.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: So you want to just head over to tips?
- 18:51Sean McAllister: Let's get right into it.
- 18:58Sean McAllister: All right.
- 18:59Sean McAllister: So, Dana, uh, these past three seconds, I've been on pins and needles to know about your dessert experience.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: Well, uh, my friend that I was with, Jeremy, he likes to, you know, because he was only in Vegas for literally like 48 hours to do a business deal.
- 19:12Dayna Roselli: So he was like, wanted to pop around to different places.
- 19:14Dayna Roselli: So I'm like, okay, well, let's go somewhere different for dessert.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: So we went over to Mona Mega B, which was also slammed as usual.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: Patio was full, but we're like, can we just sit down and have dessert?
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: And there was a line of people waiting to get in, and they're like, sure, you can sit at the bar.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, we can get dessert at the bar.
- 19:28Dayna Roselli: And they were like, Of course.
- 19:29Sean McAllister: I love the bar over there.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: No.
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: So there's the indoor bar bar and the outdoor bar, but and and you know, as long as there's seats and they were so nice, they're like, sure, like, what do you want?
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: And then we're like, Well, we already kind of drank a little, so do you care if we just get coffee?
- 19:43Dayna Roselli: And and they were like, sure.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: And like, you know, they were just so nice there, and we both ordered desserts, they were great at recommending, and then we had a little vibe around us, and it was a beautiful night.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: So I loved it.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: And that is uh that's a small bar area, right?
- 19:57Sean McAllister: When you walk into to Mona Me.
- 19:59Sean McAllister: But I I've had the same experience there.
- 20:02Sean McAllister: Every time we've gone in, whether we're, you know, waiting for our table to be prepared, or whether we're just going in for a couple drinks, um, it the staff really is so nice.
- 20:13Sean McAllister: They have great bartenders there.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: And and you know, it's always busy, so you think like these people get sick of you know, tourists, and they've got but now they handle it really well.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: They're so nice.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: Even the guy that had his like iPad out, I was like, can we sit out on the patio and have just dessert?
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: He was like, Listen, you can't just get dessert because I've got people waiting in line that are gonna get dinner.
- 20:32Dayna Roselli: So, like, and I totally understood he, but he was the one who was like, But go to the bar, and I was like, Okay, great.
- 20:37Dayna Roselli: They were so nice.
- 20:38Sean McAllister: You know what?
- 20:40Sean McAllister: Maybe this can be an ancillary tip of the week because chances are if you do a walk-in, a lot of restaurants, especially popular ones, are going to be fully booked.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: However, um, many of many of the restaurants you can walk in, and if you have a seat at a bar, they will offer a full restaurant menu.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: And you get like direct face-to-face service with the bartender.
- 21:09Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:09Sean McAllister: So you don't have to wait, you don't have to like put in the order for the cocktail and then wait for the server to bring it back.
- 21:15Sean McAllister: Like it's all done right there.
- 21:17Sean McAllister: And you do get great service at the bar.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: I love sitting at bars for dinner.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: I know, I know.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: It's fine.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: I think when there's two people, it's fine.
- 21:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 21:24Dayna Roselli: When there's a bunch, I'm like, I can't see you.
- 21:27Dayna Roselli: It's not curved and all that.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: But two people, you're right.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: I mean, why not?
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: So, all right, that's my tip.
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: And you've got something completely different you wanted to talk about.
- 21:35Dayna Roselli: Um, you walked into a store off the strip recently and you said it was really fun and you want to let people know about it.
- 21:41Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's over in Henderson.
- 21:43Sean McAllister: It's called Zia Records.
- 21:45Sean McAllister: So, Shane, my husband and I, we're we have a record player in the living room and a bunch of we have new music um on vinyl, but also like some old vintage music.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: It so it all started.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: Are you creating those Carrie and Mr.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: Big moments when they cook dinner in the kitchen and they play the record player?
- 22:07Sean McAllister: We we actually do do that.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: When we're making dinner, sometimes we will put on a record.
- 22:11Sean McAllister: We'll put on, you know, Frank Sinatra live at The Sands or live at Sahara, wherever he was.
- 22:18Sean McAllister: Love it.
- 22:18Sean McAllister: Um just like for a vibe, yeah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Um But it all started because at a few years ago now, uh Debbie Reynolds' estate, Debbie Reynolds, a Hollywood actress, um, they had an auction to get rid of a lot of the stuff that she had just had in warehouses, a lot of her personal things.
- 22:41Sean McAllister: And we bought some things at the Debbie Reynolds auction.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: Among them uh was her record collection.
- 22:48Sean McAllister: Oh, neat.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: And it's like her personal Judy Garland records from back in the day.
- 22:54Sean McAllister: Um like the Oklahoma original Oklahoma Broadway soundtrack that was like personally there's a personal inscription to her on the inside that she got for her 16th birthday.
- 23:08Sean McAllister: A lot of the records have like her handwritten notes on the inside about which tracks she liked.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: So really cool.
- 23:17Sean McAllister: So that's why we ended up going to get a record player back on track now.
- 23:22Sean McAllister: We went to Zia Records to see what we could add to the record collection, and it's great.
- 23:28Sean McAllister: They buy people's you know, records that they're getting rid of and add it to their collection.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: And we got a Joan Rivers uh stand-up album from I think 1983.
- 23:43Sean McAllister: She did this stand-up act, and so we came home, we listened to that.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: It was like$2.99.
- 23:49Dayna Roselli: Oh, and so like you just bought that.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: Just bought.
- 23:52Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, you're gonna have to share that with Frank Marino.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: Our friend Frank.
- 23:55Sean McAllister: It's great, and that's what I we listened to it, and Shane actually said he was like, Oh my gosh, this sounds exactly like Frank Marino.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, and and Frank, if anyone doesn't know, has been impersonating Joan Rivers uh in drag for many, many years on the strip.
- 24:10Sean McAllister: Yeah, so so that was great.
- 24:13Sean McAllister: Um, so Zia Records has all sorts of vintage vinyl, and it ranges in price, you know, depending on the collectibility of it.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: But there's some really affordable stuff.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: There's also new vinyl artists are releasing their music again.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: Harry Styles, his new stuff was out and displayed prominently there.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: Right.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: Um, so it was it's just a really cool spot.
- 24:39Sean McAllister: They also have DVDs and CDs and old stereo systems from back in the day that are still operational and really have great sound quality.
- 24:51Sean McAllister: But it's just kind of like, you know, it's not the newest thing out there.
- 24:55Sean McAllister: So people, you know, go for the new shiny thing.
- 24:59Sean McAllister: But the classic stuff is great.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but like you said, records are back, and I think Zia Records is probably gonna see a lot of people more than they're used to over the next couple of years.
- 25:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:10Dayna Roselli: Because you're right, artists are releasing uh my friend Matt Goss, our friend Matt Goss, uh, released his new album in the UK on vinyl, and people came to the record store for signings and bought the physical vinyl.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: They wanted that more than they were even buying cassette tapes.
- 25:24Dayna Roselli: It's like there's something about it.
- 25:26Sean McAllister: It's funny.
- 25:27Sean McAllister: There was just a story on the Today show about how cassette tapes are coming back.
- 25:31Sean McAllister: Right.
- 25:31Sean McAllister: It's like Like for the first time in in 15 years, sales of cassette tapes have gone up.
- 25:38Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, isn't that weird?
- 25:40Dayna Roselli: Well, speaking of that, this is gonna kind of a personal uh Matt and Dana moment.
- 25:44Dayna Roselli: We were just getting ready to move him, and you know, he was in a band called Bros.
- 25:48Sean McAllister: Because he moved back to the UK, right.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: He moved back to the UK, and um maybe go into more detail about that next podcast because I am getting a lot of questions about that.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: But anyway, um, but anyway, we were going through some of his old stuff, you know, and you know when you find those blank tapes, yes, and you're like, I don't know what's on it.
- 26:05Dayna Roselli: Like, because back in the day, you may have like said something into the recorder really stupid, or you were a teenager, or who knows what it was, right?
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: Or old songs.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we found a few cassette tapes that weren't labeled, and we he's and you know what you have to do before you throw them out, what he did was he took the you know the tape of the cassette and pulled it and broke it.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: You have to like destroy it.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: Isn't that weird?
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: Like, and I was like, oh my god, I remember doing this back in the day when I wanted to throw a cassette out, I would have to pull the tape and like break it to make sure that no one would like know what was on it.
- 26:37Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: So anyway, oh my gosh.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: I we had tons of those tapes.
- 26:41Sean McAllister: My sister, she's nine years older than me, so she tormented me as a child a little bit.
- 26:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, and when I was little, I couldn't say my R's.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 26:51Sean McAllister: And so she would sit me down in front of a tape recorder and she would say, say railroad tracks.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: And what'd you say?
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: L road.
- 27:00Sean McAllister: Well woe twax.
- 27:01Sean McAllister: Say, say shirt, say shut, say shorts, shut.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Yes, those are the kind of tapes that you had.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: That's the thing that we did on those cassette tapes.
- 27:12Sean McAllister: And then she would make me read a book that had all these R words in it.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm glad you can say Roselli.
- 27:20Sean McAllister: I Roselli.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: I have my R's down now.
- 27:23Sean McAllister: Okay, good.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: So anyway, Zia Records, and I believe that they're doing a pop-up event um for the Psycho Las Vegas weekend, which is happening at uh Resorts World August 22nd.
- 27:37Sean McAllister: Uh it's a music festival, and Zia Records is going to be doing a pop-up there as well.
- 27:42Sean McAllister: So look for them.
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, sounds good.
- 27:44Dayna Roselli: And it looks like they got a couple locations.
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: One on South Rainbow, too, so FYI.
- 27:48Dayna Roselli: But you went to the one on Eastern, right?
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: Eastern.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 27:52Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 27:52Dayna Roselli: Well, that's our tips.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: That's it.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: We got a lot of things on the agenda for next week.
- 27:56Dayna Roselli: We're already going to be talking about.
- 27:58Dayna Roselli: Um, Sean went to Frankie Marino's news show.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: Frankie Marino, not Frank Marino's.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Not Frank.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: Uh he had a longtime residency at the Strat, and he's been doing stuff at the South Point and the Smith Center, and now he's got a weekend residency at the Palms.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: We'll talk about that because we're also going to talk about Sean and I are going to go visit.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: There was a grand opening of the Ghost Bar the other day, but we decided, you know what, we're going to go spend some time there and get the real feel of what's different and the live music atmosphere.
- 28:25Dayna Roselli: Probably have a night out.
- 28:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, have a night out.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: Probably this week.
- 28:29Dayna Roselli: So we'll talk about that.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: Um, and then a couple different things that are open, some things with Nevada discounts if you're on the strip, if you have Nevada ID, a new liquidation center that opened with hotel furniture inside that you can get for cheap.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: So all that coming up on episode 130.
- 28:46Sean McAllister: 130, we're already there.
- 28:47Dayna Roselli: Can't believe it.
- 28:48Sean McAllister: Man.
- 28:49Sean McAllister: Summer blazes on.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: So bring your credit card.
- 29:00Sean McAllister: Let's go and baby, baby.
- 29:02Sean McAllister: Let's go and make it
