- 0:00Speaker 1: Good morning. This is George Agnelli filling in on the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Lee Elsie Show. We're going to bring you a great
- 0:05Speaker 1: show today. We got some big-name guests, and I hope
- 0:08Speaker 1: you listen in, and I hope I do a good
- 0:11Speaker 1: job of filling in for my favorite friend. We have
- 0:15Speaker 1: John Bolton today. We have Betsy McCoy, Amy Borden, and
- 0:20Speaker 1: we're going to top the show off with Ryan Fazio
- 0:22Speaker 1: in the 8 o'clock hour. So just some of the
- 0:25Speaker 1: news that's coming out today. Greenland is now going to
- 0:28Speaker 1: be part of the United States. or a controlled territory
- 0:32Speaker 1: of the United States, which is a really nice bonus
- 0:34Speaker 1: for us for protection from Russian ballistic missiles. California legislation,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you can't make this stuff up. The Senate just voted
- 0:44Speaker 1: to give illegal aliens deposit money to buy houses. We
- 0:48Speaker 1: have a housing shortage in the country. We have a
- 0:50Speaker 1: worse housing shortage in California yet. They're going to make
- 0:53Speaker 1: sure illegals get the right to own a house. Before
- 0:58Speaker 1: your kids that grew up in California do. And you
- 1:00Speaker 1: paid all those taxes. Can you make this stuff up? Because,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know, what happens in California winds up happening in
- 1:06Speaker 1: Connecticut three or four months later. And it's just stuff
- 1:09Speaker 1: you just cannot make this stuff up. No matter how
- 1:13Speaker 1: you do it, how you look at it, what's going on,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you just have to question. You have to say, is
- 1:22Speaker 1: there any brain cells left in California?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 1: You know, when you think about it, I mean, I
- 1:27Speaker 1: don't know what they're smoking, what they're drinking, what the
- 1:30Speaker 1: sun does to you out there, but what is happening
- 1:33Speaker 1: out there. And then it winds up coming to our
- 1:36Speaker 1: state because as the EPA laws have all been reduced
- 1:40Speaker 1: so that cold fire utility plants can open back up
- 1:45Speaker 1: and everything else, we don't follow the EPA standard in Connecticut.
- 1:49Speaker 1: We follow California's EPA standard, which is stricter than the
- 1:54Speaker 1: federal government's. So you have to think about all this
- 1:58Speaker 1: stuff that's going on, and you have to think about
- 2:00Speaker 1: all the things that are going on. And what people
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't realize is two of the largest oil-to-gas, oil-to-diesel plants
- 2:08Speaker 1: in California have been shut down in the last six months.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So 20% of the supply for the West Coast no
- 2:16Speaker 1: longer exists. And that's what's creating a lot of shortage.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And I know the war is causing some of the
- 2:21Speaker 1: gas because of the global pricing issue. But the shortage
- 2:24Speaker 1: is because we have $ 2 trillion plants that have been
- 2:28Speaker 1: shut down by Newsom and their EPA standards. And these
- 2:31Speaker 1: are all things that need to be talked about and
- 2:33Speaker 1: need to be brought around to the public. So let's
- 2:36Speaker 1: think about these things. We have 15 million illegal people
- 2:40Speaker 1: living here, right? 15 million were let in under the
- 2:42Speaker 1: Biden administration. Do those 15 million people need less housing?
- 2:48Speaker 1: Do they need less gas? Do they need less food?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Do you want to know where the inflation is coming from,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and do they need less care? In the state of
- 2:56Speaker 1: Connecticut alone, just in the state of Connecticut alone, if
- 2:59Speaker 1: you go to the Yankee Institute, and you can research this,
- 3:04Speaker 1: they feel that we are spending an average of $ 1. 5
- 3:08Speaker 1: billion a year just in Connecticut on illegal immigration. Okay, $ 1. 5 billion.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Can you imagine if we actually put that into our schools?
- 3:19Speaker 1: So think about this. You have 15 million more people.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So let's say 300,000 are living in Connecticut. That's how
- 3:26Speaker 1: many more houses do you need? Why do we have
- 3:28Speaker 1: a housing shortage of 100,000? Because maybe we have families
- 3:32Speaker 1: living here that shouldn't be living here. Maybe we would
- 3:35Speaker 1: have gas prices come back down. Maybe our demand on
- 3:39Speaker 1: the system in the United States, electrical, on our grid,
- 3:43Speaker 1: everything else would drop right back off because our country
- 3:46Speaker 1: was not made to absorb 20 million people in a
- 3:49Speaker 1: year or two years or three years or actually four
- 3:52Speaker 1: under the Biden administration. So when you look at all
- 3:55Speaker 1: these different things, these are things that we have to
- 3:57Speaker 1: talk about. These are things that we have to discuss.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And these are things that I would love to have
- 4:02Speaker 1: your phone calls on. It's 94 News Now. It's the
- 4:05Speaker 1: Lee Elsie Show. And the phone number for anyone to
- 4:08Speaker 1: call in is 860-464-7000. Nine four nine. Oh, as we
- 4:13Speaker 1: go through this morning and we have some great interviews
- 4:15Speaker 1: for you, you're going to your head's just going to
- 4:18Speaker 1: spin with some of this stuff that people are going
- 4:20Speaker 1: to come up with. We have an attorney general that
- 4:22Speaker 1: says either you vote my way or you shouldn't be
- 4:25Speaker 1: on the ballot. Hello, Napoleon. What's next? You know, when
- 4:30Speaker 1: you look at all these different things that are going
- 4:32Speaker 1: on and happening, it's just absolute craziness. And you can't
- 4:39Speaker 1: make it up. This morning, as I'm Googling California news
- 4:45Speaker 1: or doing a research on it, I cannot believe it's
- 4:48Speaker 1: actually going to the House that they're going to give
- 4:51Speaker 1: down payment assistance to illegal aliens who can't even get
- 4:53Speaker 1: a mortgage. Are they bypassing the mortgage rules? Because you
- 4:57Speaker 1: have to have at least a green card to get
- 4:59Speaker 1: a mortgage. Are we going to back them with government loans, FHA, CHFA, FHA?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Are we going to just say, okay, no, you now
- 5:09Speaker 1: qualify for a VA loan because veterans served our war,
- 5:13Speaker 1: almost died, or maybe died for our country, but their
- 5:16Speaker 1: families don't deserve the same thing you do as if
- 5:19Speaker 1: you just cross the border illegally and get it. I
- 5:24Speaker 1: was with a friend of mine from Toronto, and she goes, well,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I'm just going to move to California. They're going to
- 5:29Speaker 1: give me down payment assistance. Can you imagine that? Why
- 5:33Speaker 1: stay here? Just drive to California. And let me tell
- 5:37Speaker 1: you something. This person flew to the United States for
- 5:41Speaker 1: the first time. Landed in Washington, D.C., landed in Bradley,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and she goes, where do I go to immigration? They go, no,
- 5:48Speaker 1: you just go right out the door. She did not
- 5:50Speaker 1: get checked by one person what she was doing in
- 5:53Speaker 1: the United States, what was happening, nothing. You cannot make
- 5:58Speaker 1: this stuff up that's going on in the state of Connecticut,
- 6:01Speaker 1: that's going on in California, that's going on in these
- 6:05Speaker 1: blue-run states. They're all in deficit trouble. They've all got
- 6:10Speaker 1: big problems going on. If you look at truth in accounting,
- 6:15Speaker 1: the state of Connecticut ranks 49th out of 50th to
- 6:18Speaker 1: go bankrupt. Yet you will never hear it on Channel 3,
- 6:22Speaker 1: Channel 30, Channel 8. They will never talk about the debt,
- 6:26Speaker 1: the spending that's out of control. You will never hear
- 6:29Speaker 1: any of this stuff that's going on. So as we
- 6:33Speaker 1: go through today's show, you're going to hear bits and
- 6:35Speaker 1: pieces of all this different information. You're going to hear
- 6:38Speaker 1: Brian Fazio from him, and you're going to hear how
- 6:43Speaker 1: he's tried to put legislation in where nurses don't have
- 6:45Speaker 1: to pay up to $ 375 for a license. So they're
- 6:48Speaker 1: saving your life. They're taking care of you in the hospital.
- 6:52Speaker 1: They're wiping your rear end if you need that help.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And they're getting charged $ 375 in the state of Connecticut
- 6:57Speaker 1: to have a license to take care of you. And
- 7:02Speaker 1: I think he's right. I don't think that makes sense.
- 7:04Speaker 1: He's put several bills forward to remove licensing fee for
- 7:08Speaker 1: nurses and service industry people who are helping you to
- 7:14Speaker 1: survive in your lifetime. And a lot of these things
- 7:17Speaker 1: don't make sense. So I agree with him on that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: We're going to talk a little bit about that today.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We're going to talk about our attorney general, how he
- 7:25Speaker 1: has sued the Trump administration, I don't know, 35, 40 times.
- 7:29Speaker 1: How many millions has he spent? Because on our sister
- 7:33Speaker 1: radio station, he was asked a question, what is your
- 7:39Speaker 1: DTS system? What is the problem with DTS? And Gary
- 7:48Speaker 1: asked him, on a scale of 1 to 10, what
- 7:50Speaker 1: is your DTS? His answer was 12. So he admits
- 7:54Speaker 1: he has this problem and is speaking of September 10th
- 7:57Speaker 1: when he came out and said, If you support anything
- 8:01Speaker 1: that Trump supports, you shouldn't be on the ballot. I mean,
- 8:04Speaker 1: these are some of the things we're going to talk
- 8:06Speaker 1: about this morning. I'm sorry for going all over the place,
- 8:08Speaker 1: but there's so much going on, and my mind's all
- 8:10Speaker 1: over the place with all this stuff. So as we
- 8:15Speaker 1: bring it back, and then, you know, the big story
- 8:18Speaker 1: in Connecticut right now is the Casas Diamantis that went
- 8:26Speaker 1: to Greece. And they knew he was a dual citizenship.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Why didn't they put an ankle bracelet on him? You know,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you're at house release. And, you know, he basically showed
- 8:35Speaker 1: that anybody can do anything they want to do if
- 8:39Speaker 1: they have the money to do it. And he knew
- 8:41Speaker 1: he was facing 10 years for his corruption charges. And
- 8:44Speaker 1: he was older. And you can't blame him. His lawyer
- 8:46Speaker 1: was sort of laughing at Norm Pattis, was sort of
- 8:50Speaker 1: smiling about what he got away with. And Greece does
- 8:54Speaker 1: not have extradition if you.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Wind up uh if you had a murder or you
- 9:02Speaker 1: did some of this but for collusion or um anything
- 9:08Speaker 1: to do finances uh you cannot extradite a greek citizen
- 9:11Speaker 1: and i don't think they're going to be able to
- 9:13Speaker 1: bring him back and then they canceled his um his
- 9:19Speaker 1: retirement and i don't think they can do that legally
- 9:22Speaker 1: i know they can you know make him they can
- 9:24Speaker 1: stop direct deposit but But I don't believe that they'll
- 9:27Speaker 1: be able to confiscate his retirement account with just stopping
- 9:36Speaker 1: it and saying, sorry, we're not paying you anymore because
- 9:38Speaker 1: you've been convicted of a felon. You know, he did
- 9:40Speaker 1: work to 30 years. He's entitled to the retirement. I'd
- 9:44Speaker 1: like to get your thoughts on some of this stuff and,
- 9:47Speaker 1: you know, see where you are and go from there.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I mean, this is just, you know, the guy doesn't
- 9:53Speaker 1: show up. Wasn't anybody paying attention? to making sure this
- 9:56Speaker 1: guy didn't leave the state of Connecticut? Or was he
- 9:59Speaker 1: such a friend? of the governor that everybody was hoping
- 10:01Speaker 1: he got away? The only guy that's really smiling the
- 10:04Speaker 1: most is the governor because he doesn't want any of
- 10:07Speaker 1: this backlash, you know, to come to him. Because if
- 10:11Speaker 1: you look at Lamont and you look at all the
- 10:13Speaker 1: things that are going on and you see where he
- 10:16Speaker 1: was told, that the charity fund in Waterbury shouldn't be
- 10:22Speaker 1: getting any more money, and they received $ 1. 5 million to
- 10:27Speaker 1: pay light bills for people, and they had to pay $ 1. 2
- 10:30Speaker 1: million to the state of Connecticut, and their check bounced
- 10:34Speaker 1: because they were overusing their budget. And that's the company
- 10:38Speaker 1: in Waterbury. And then there's Senator McCoy in.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Bloomfield, along with Cicero, was using the Ponzi scheme of
- 10:50Speaker 1: moving audit money from charity to charity to charity. And
- 10:56Speaker 1: these are the different things that happen. So they're allowed
- 10:59Speaker 1: to audit money that goes to a nonprofit. But when
- 11:03Speaker 1: it goes from one nonprofit to another, so they basically
- 11:06Speaker 1: had a three-ring circus between three nonprofits, and they got
- 11:11Speaker 1: in $ 5 million. to this nonprofit. Then they moved it
- 11:14Speaker 1: to that nonprofit. Now it's not auditable. So they couldn't
- 11:17Speaker 1: see where the money was being spent. They couldn't see
- 11:20Speaker 1: where the money was. And, you know, these are the
- 11:23Speaker 1: different things that have happened. And it's all circling this governor,
- 11:28Speaker 1: all this fraud. It's not hasn't touched him yet. It's
- 11:30Speaker 1: circling above him because, again, Channel 8, Channel 30, Channel
- 11:33Speaker 1: 3 won't. do the diligence that's necessary because it's a Democrat. Unfortunately,
- 11:41Speaker 1: we have Democratic news stations that will not hold our
- 11:44Speaker 1: governor accountable for all the things that are happening in
- 11:47Speaker 1: the state of Connecticut, and we need them to get involved,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and they need to do, actually, reporting. It's craziness. All
- 11:57Speaker 1: you hear about on the news is who got shot,
- 12:00Speaker 1: who got murdered, where the fire is. You don't hear
- 12:04Speaker 1: them holding any of these politicians accountable. How much has
- 12:08Speaker 1: Tong spent suing Trump? How much money has been lost
- 12:12Speaker 1: by these nonprofits? And how many nonprofits have been not
- 12:15Speaker 1: audited to see where the money is really being spent?
- 12:18Speaker 1: And if just several of them already have money issues,
- 12:24Speaker 1: maybe it's time that we do an audit of all
- 12:26Speaker 1: of them to see where the money is being spent.
- 12:29Speaker 1: There's like no checkers of the checkers going on. So,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I mean, if you're not checking where the money is
- 12:35Speaker 1: being spent and nobody's paying attention to it and every
- 12:38Speaker 1: year you're getting another amount of money, you're like, well,
- 12:42Speaker 1: they won't miss this money and I'll put it back.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You know, it's like a gambler gambling, you know, his
- 12:48Speaker 1: life savings thing. Oh, OK, my retirement account. Well, I'm
- 12:52Speaker 1: going to double it. I'm going to triple it. I
- 12:55Speaker 1: want to run it on red and run it on black.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But I'll pay it back when I win. And that
- 12:59Speaker 1: usually never happens. And that's what's happening with all these nonprofits.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And rather than having government-run programs, we give these monies
- 13:07Speaker 1: to charities and churches and everything else. And they're not
- 13:15Speaker 1: balancing all these accounts. So while all this stuff is
- 13:19Speaker 1: going on, it is very rough to see as a taxpayer,
- 13:28Speaker 1: as a citizen. that we owe, according to Truth in Accounting, $ 44, 000
- 13:34Speaker 1: per taxpayer, but only owe $ 8, 000 per resident. So that
- 13:38Speaker 1: means basically every sixth of us is paying for the
- 13:44Speaker 1: other five. And that's how it works in a democratic society.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Take it from the ones that can pay and divvy
- 13:50Speaker 1: it out to the ones that can't. And then what
- 13:53Speaker 1: happens is you have five votes to one and you
- 13:55Speaker 1: keep winning and winning and winning and Unfortunately, that's what's
- 13:59Speaker 1: happened in the state of Connecticut. And at some point
- 14:01Speaker 1: in time, you have to say uncle. And I think
- 14:05Speaker 1: that that's starting to happen as I talked to some
- 14:08Speaker 1: of my minority friends in Hartford and everything else. And
- 14:11Speaker 1: they're like looking around like the illegals are getting treated
- 14:13Speaker 1: better than us. And there's the minority population is starting
- 14:18Speaker 1: to say, hey, wait a minute, there's something wrong. They're
- 14:20Speaker 1: even realizing there's something wrong with the picture when the
- 14:23Speaker 1: guy just shows up and gets a cell phone, he's
- 14:27Speaker 1: getting food stamps, and he hasn't worked a day. And
- 14:31Speaker 1: the more kids you have, the more money you get,
- 14:33Speaker 1: the more money you get. And that's why we, the
- 14:38Speaker 1: population of Connecticut, can't reproduce kids because we can't afford them.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Because we're not handed all this free stuff to have kids.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And that's what's happening to our society. And when a
- 14:48Speaker 1: society stops reproducing, it becomes big problems for that society.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And when you have foreigners that are reproducing at an
- 14:57Speaker 1: alarming rate because we're paying for them and they don't
- 15:01Speaker 1: really belong here and they're like, well, OK, you have
- 15:04Speaker 1: your first kid. We pay for it. You have your
- 15:06Speaker 1: second kid. That's it. We cut you off. You have
- 15:08Speaker 1: to figure it out.
- 15:09Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 15:10Speaker 1: You're going to have 20 kids. It doesn't matter. We're
- 15:12Speaker 1: going to give you funding for all 20 kids. And
- 15:15Speaker 1: there's no limitation. There's no saying, hey, you know, you
- 15:19Speaker 1: have to be responsible for yourself. So I know I've
- 15:23Speaker 1: gone on and I've rambled on about a lot of
- 15:25Speaker 1: different things, but there's just so much going on that
- 15:29Speaker 1: we need to talk about it and we need to
- 15:31Speaker 1: discuss it and we need to have conversation about all
- 15:34Speaker 1: of it and figure it all out. And then we're
- 15:39Speaker 1: on 94.9 News. We're going to take phone numbers now.

- 27:57Speaker 1: Elsie Show, and we have a great guest that hopefully
- 28:01Speaker 1: is going to help end our little communist... Attorney General,
- 28:10Speaker 1: and I would like to really introduce you to your
- 28:13Speaker 1: new friend and mine, John Bolton. John, good morning. Good morning.
- 28:18Speaker 6: How are you, sir?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Great. How are you?
- 28:21Speaker 31: Well, I have to tell you, you said you were
- 28:23Speaker 31: all over the place in the first half hour in
- 28:25Speaker 31: your opening monologue, and boy, you look at the last five, six,
- 28:28Speaker 31: seven days and so many issues out there that you
- 28:31Speaker 31: highlighted in the beginning of the show that touched upon
- 28:33Speaker 31: my campaign, and Connecticut overall, it's just... Yeah, you're right.
- 28:38Speaker 31: It's hard to keep it straight, especially on a Monday
- 28:40Speaker 31: morning at 630. But I'm glad to be here.
- 28:43Speaker 6: Yes.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Thank you very much for coming on last minute. And
- 28:45Speaker 1: we appreciate it. But, you know, as September 10th or
- 28:49Speaker 1: was 11th attorney, the attorney general said, oh, you know,
- 28:55Speaker 1: if you don't vote my way, you shouldn't even be
- 28:57Speaker 1: on the ballot. I would you like to comment about
- 28:59Speaker 1: that a little bit?
- 29:01Speaker 31: Yeah, because I actually put a lot of material out
- 29:03Speaker 31: and I rebutted that. I responded to that immediately. What
- 29:08Speaker 31: he said was that an outdoor– it was funny because
- 29:10Speaker 31: it was the same time that I was doing a
- 29:12Speaker 31: presser on the south lawn of the Capitol with Ryan
- 29:15Speaker 31: Fazio and Matt Corey about corruption, of all things. And
- 29:18Speaker 31: what he said was, I can't call Republicans Republicans anymore.
- 29:21Speaker 31: They're all MAGA. And what you need to do is
- 29:24Speaker 31: you have to declare where you stand. If you stand
- 29:28Speaker 31: with the president, then you are not fit to serve.
- 29:31Speaker 31: You are not qualified to serve in public office. Now,
- 29:34Speaker 31: he used the word MAGA He said this twice, by
- 29:37Speaker 31: the way, that rally he was at. And he used
- 29:39Speaker 31: the term MAGA as a qualifier. But you know, and
- 29:42Speaker 31: I know, he was talking about Republicans and people who
- 29:45Speaker 31: don't agree with his policies. And I have to tell
- 29:48Speaker 31: you something. In all of my 36 years of practicing law,
- 29:51Speaker 31: and I really mean this.
- 29:52Speaker 4: This is not.
- 29:52Speaker 31: Campaign hyperbole right now. I have never heard a public official,
- 29:56Speaker 31: especially the state's chief legal officer, enforcement officer, say such
- 30:02Speaker 31: an anti-democratic, authoritarian comment like that. He wrote off essentially
- 30:07Speaker 31: half the entire state of Connecticut from public service. And
- 30:10Speaker 31: that is just mind-blowing. George, it was mind-blowing to me.
- 30:15Speaker 1: A lot of things he does is mind-blowing to me,
- 30:16Speaker 1: and a lot of things that are happening in the
- 30:18Speaker 1: state of Connecticut, especially 40% of our– offices did not
- 30:26Speaker 1: do their proper auditing of equipment and there's like something
- 30:29Speaker 1: like two billion dollars worth of equipment cars vehicles not
- 30:34Speaker 1: accounted for never mind all these credit cards that are
- 30:37Speaker 1: out there that everybody's just using like it's their household
- 30:39Speaker 1: credit card and it belongs to.
- 30:40Speaker 31: The state of connecticut so i didn't hear the 40
- 30:44Speaker 31: number but i sure don't doubt it i know that
- 30:46Speaker 31: for example like the department of education they haven't done
- 30:49Speaker 31: an inventory of any of their equipment in 15 years
- 30:52Speaker 31: 15 years I mean, who knows if that stuff is
- 30:57Speaker 31: being sold on eBay or off the back of a truck.
- 31:00Speaker 31: And that's a lack of institutional control. It's precisely what's
- 31:04Speaker 31: really upsetting voters. Add to the fact you have the
- 31:07Speaker 31: situation with, you mentioned Diamantis, the Cardona contract. Everybody's wondering,
- 31:15Speaker 31: who are they serving? The state government has become so detached,
- 31:20Speaker 31: so tone deaf from really representing the people and doing
- 31:23Speaker 31: the people's work. that it's staggering. And that's 40%. I've
- 31:26Speaker 31: got to look into that because that's an amazing stat.
- 31:28Speaker 31: But sure, you're talking about a lot of assets out
- 31:31Speaker 31: there unaccounted for. I mean, there's been grants given to
- 31:34Speaker 31: Connecticut by the federal government that haven't been spent in
- 31:38Speaker 31: four or five years. And the question is, where's the
- 31:41Speaker 31: money going? Is it going to no-show jobs? Is it
- 31:43Speaker 31: political patronage? And it's become a culture of corruption in
- 31:47Speaker 31: this state that the entitlement at the highest levels It's
- 31:52Speaker 31: actually breathtaking, you know, when you really look back and
- 31:54Speaker 31: think about it. And I can only tell you that
- 31:59Speaker 31: Matt Corey, Ryan Fazio, and I have discussed this. You know,
- 32:02Speaker 31: one element of my campaign is going to be an
- 32:05Speaker 31: anti-corruption strike force. We're going to start taking those whistleblower
- 32:08Speaker 31: complaints that come from the Auditor of Public Accounts, which
- 32:11Speaker 31: ironically my dad was a veteran of 30 years. He
- 32:13Speaker 31: worked for the Auditor of Public Accounts. And when things
- 32:16Speaker 31: went awry, they had a report to the Attorney General's office.
- 32:19Speaker 31: I was brought up with concepts of transparency and open
- 32:23Speaker 31: government and just doing the right ethical things, and we've
- 32:28Speaker 31: lost our way. We are fighting for the soul of
- 32:31Speaker 31: our state right now in this election cycle, and we
- 32:34Speaker 31: have to get our state back. We have to give
- 32:36Speaker 31: it back to the people. We certainly have to give
- 32:37Speaker 31: the people's lawyer's office back to the people because I
- 32:40Speaker 31: think my opponent has been anything but Connecticut. I call
- 32:43Speaker 31: him the ABCAG because he puts all sorts of different
- 32:46Speaker 31: priorities ahead of the people of the state. And I
- 32:49Speaker 31: think there's going to be an enormous pushback in November.
- 32:51Speaker 31: I'm getting a tremendous amount of feedback. And there's an
- 32:55Speaker 31: undercurrent out there. Whether you're independent, Republican, or Democrat, what
- 33:00Speaker 31: is he doing for us? What has he done to
- 33:02Speaker 31: advance the agenda of the people of Connecticut? And when
- 33:05Speaker 31: people say, and they talk about affordability, yep, it's about
- 33:08Speaker 31: utility rates and yes, and taxes. But I'll tell you
- 33:11Speaker 31: one thing. The number one, in my opinion, my humble opinion,
- 33:14Speaker 31: the number one cause of the affordability crisis in Connecticut
- 33:18Speaker 31: is corruption. Corruption is what drives the cost of living
- 33:21Speaker 31: up in Connecticut.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And I feel very strongly about that. There's no question
- 33:26Speaker 1: about it. Millions upon millions are going to nonprofits who
- 33:30Speaker 1: are preachers and teachers and all different things. They don't
- 33:34Speaker 1: know how to handle a couple million dollars or $ 10
- 33:38Speaker 1: million or $ 15 million. They've never handled that kind of
- 33:41Speaker 1: money in their life. They've done a church budget, which
- 33:43Speaker 1: is $ 60, 000 a year or $ 80, 000 a year, and you
- 33:46Speaker 1: give somebody that kind of money... And all of a
- 33:48Speaker 1: sudden it starts finding different ways. Well, they won't miss
- 33:51Speaker 1: this little bit of money if I do this. Look,
- 33:55Speaker 1: look at just our what are we? We're paying three
- 34:00Speaker 1: retired or fired. heads of our community colleges, like $ 1. 2
- 34:07Speaker 1: million a year plus benefits, and one was fired. He
- 34:11Speaker 1: didn't even follow the contract. He didn't even move to
- 34:13Speaker 1: the state of Connecticut, and he was buying steak dinners,
- 34:16Speaker 1: and he was doing everything on his credit card. One,
- 34:19Speaker 1: the amount of fraud just there alone, and yet we
- 34:22Speaker 1: keep paying these people, and they don't even live in
- 34:24Speaker 1: a state or help our school system.
- 34:26Speaker 10: Not at all.
- 34:27Speaker 31: And a lot of them get recycled into different agencies
- 34:29Speaker 31: and get buried. thinking that, well, they went on to
- 34:32Speaker 31: different greener pastures. In fact, you're absolutely right. They're still
- 34:35Speaker 31: on state dime. And you look what's going on here
- 34:38Speaker 31: right now with Diamantis actually sued Connecticut on Friday to
- 34:46Speaker 31: prevent or preempt any type of revocation of his pension.
- 34:51Speaker 31: I'll be fair, okay? The statute in Connecticut is very
- 34:55Speaker 31: clear that the attorney general cannot petition the superior court
- 34:59Speaker 31: to revoke or claw back, as they call it, the
- 35:02Speaker 31: pension that Diamantis has until he is sentenced. Because under
- 35:06Speaker 31: the federal guidelines and under the way the statute in
- 35:09Speaker 31: Connecticut is written for the AG authorizing this, it is
- 35:13Speaker 31: the sentencing that confirms the conviction. That's the triggering event
- 35:17Speaker 31: that you now go back after the pension. So I
- 35:20Speaker 31: saw on social media a lot of people were criticizing
- 35:22Speaker 31: my opponent's office for not– uh... doing that and he
- 35:26Speaker 31: couldn't okay the law was very clear he's preempted until
- 35:30Speaker 31: had he shown up last thursday the amount is that
- 35:32Speaker 31: he would have had the trigger event to the right
- 35:34Speaker 31: superior court so he stalled out on that but here's
- 35:36Speaker 31: where i'm going to criticize the attorney general on this
- 35:38Speaker 31: one issue with the amount is he's been very vocal
- 35:41Speaker 31: he gives a lot of testimony uh... they they they
- 35:45Speaker 31: shape a lot of public policy on laws that they
- 35:48Speaker 31: want to advance so for example on this trust act
- 35:51Speaker 31: expansion and the original trust act my opponent was a
- 35:54Speaker 31: key contributor to the writing of what I think is
- 35:57Speaker 31: a violation of the Supremacy Clause with Connecticut's Trust Act
- 36:01Speaker 31: and many aspects of it. Tremendous. A cheerleader. Why hasn't
- 36:06Speaker 31: anybody gone out there and tried to cheerlead or introduce
- 36:10Speaker 31: legislation that refines and brings up to date in situations
- 36:14Speaker 31: like Diamantis when you can go after the pension so
- 36:17Speaker 31: that you're not stalled out because of the literal definition?
- 36:20Speaker 31: That should have been expanded on. These are situations that
- 36:23Speaker 31: they have to have some prescience for, and they're not
- 36:26Speaker 31: doing it because that's not on the top of their agenda.
- 36:28Speaker 4: And that's sad.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I mean, just the whole– you knew the guy had
- 36:33Speaker 1: a Greek citizenship. Why didn't he have an ankle bracelet on?
- 36:37Speaker 1: You're out on bail or bond, and if you weren't
- 36:42Speaker 1: the governor's buddy or his second in command for all
- 36:46Speaker 1: the things that he did– Why didn't he have ankle
- 36:50Speaker 1: bracelet on? You knew he had a Greek citizenship. You knew,
- 36:52Speaker 1: you know, he's 70 years old. Hey, I'll take a
- 36:54Speaker 1: shot of going to Greece and being on a topless
- 36:57Speaker 1: beach the rest of my life or, you know, spend
- 37:00Speaker 1: the rest of my time with Bubba. You know, so
- 37:03Speaker 1: when you think about those different things and you just look,
- 37:06Speaker 1: it's just it's just Heinz in the state of Connecticut.
- 37:09Speaker 1: It's always Heinz. Oh, we wish we did that. We
- 37:12Speaker 1: wish we stopped that. Oh, well, we didn't see that coming.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And that's always what happens because our politicians aren't paying
- 37:18Speaker 1: attention to what's really happening to the people in the
- 37:21Speaker 1: state of Connecticut.
- 37:22Speaker 31: Because we're not at the top of their priority. And
- 37:25Speaker 31: that's when I say the ABCAG, anything but Connecticut. So
- 37:29Speaker 31: you said something to the effect of 40-something lawsuits brought
- 37:33Speaker 31: against the federal government by my opponent. Actually, my count,
- 37:37Speaker 31: and don't quote me on this, I mean I'm not
- 37:39Speaker 31: the greatest at adding the math, but I have 69
- 37:41Speaker 31: since January 20th, 2025. that he's joined or initiated, mostly joined.
- 37:48Speaker 31: And let me just give you a quick blurb on that.
- 37:52Speaker 31: He's had some wins, but his wins are procedural, meaning
- 37:56Speaker 31: that you never get to the ultimate substantive issue, the
- 37:59Speaker 31: merit of what he was trying to knock out or
- 38:01Speaker 31: what President Trump was trying to do. So, for example,
- 38:05Speaker 31: when they knocked out the executive order regarding the SAVE Act,
- 38:10Speaker 31: turning over the voter rolls and whatnot, It was a
- 38:13Speaker 31: procedural defect that won that case for him and got
- 38:16Speaker 31: him the injunction because the president can't do that through
- 38:20Speaker 31: an executive order. It's an act of Congress. It's in
- 38:22Speaker 31: the Constitution. All right, so basically I agree 100% of
- 38:26Speaker 31: what Trump was trying to do with that in terms
- 38:29Speaker 31: of verification and cleaning up the voter rolls, everything, 100%. However,
- 38:34Speaker 31: he went about it in a manner that was counter
- 38:37Speaker 31: to what they call the Administrative Procedures Act. So he
- 38:39Speaker 31: gets a win on that, on the technicality. And then
- 38:42Speaker 31: he spikes the football and makes it sound like he
- 38:43Speaker 31: just stared down the entire federal government on the issue. No,
- 38:46Speaker 31: it's procedural. It doesn't go to the ultimate substance, the
- 38:49Speaker 31: merits of the matter. What's going on in our voter rolls?
- 38:52Speaker 31: You know, people say to me, well, can you prove
- 38:54Speaker 31: voter fraud in Connecticut? And my response simply, George, is
- 38:57Speaker 31: I don't have to. All right? Four out of ten
- 39:00Speaker 31: voters think their votes don't count. And when you have
- 39:03Speaker 31: that kind of– such a low confidence in our electoral system,
- 39:09Speaker 31: government– I believe, is charged with restoring that confidence. And
- 39:13Speaker 31: you restore that confidence by ensuring citizenship and whatever else
- 39:16Speaker 31: was in the proposed SAVE Act. I'm sorry, but that's
- 39:22Speaker 31: the way you have to approach it. Because what the
- 39:24Speaker 31: other side likes to do is they say, well, give
- 39:27Speaker 31: me examples of actual voter fraud and prove it and
- 39:29Speaker 31: this and that. Well, you know, it's a very high
- 39:31Speaker 31: bar to do that. My approach is very simple. Restore confidence.
- 39:36Speaker 31: Do what you got to do to restore the confidence
- 39:38Speaker 31: and the story.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I think voter confidence is a lot of people say, well,
- 39:42Speaker 1: my vote doesn't count anymore, so why bother voting? And
- 39:45Speaker 1: that's the sad part. And I tell them, I go,
- 39:47Speaker 1: then don't complain. I don't want to hear a complaint
- 39:49Speaker 1: if you didn't vote. At least if you voted, you
- 39:51Speaker 1: have a right to complain. And that's the most important thing.
- 39:55Speaker 1: This election is so important. And we're going to have
- 40:00Speaker 1: to go to break right now, but we'll be right

- 42:57Speaker 33: When you hear the term tax plan, you may think
- 43:00Speaker 33: April 15th, but at Tumalo Financial, they're teaching clients to
- 43:03Speaker 33: look at taxes differently. Many spend their working years saving
- 43:06Speaker 33: into pre-tax accounts like a 401k because you've been told
- 43:09Speaker 33: that you're being a lower tax bracket when you retire.
- 43:11Speaker 33: That doesn't always happen. Ken and Nick Tumalo have seen
- 43:14Speaker 33: many cases where people end up in a higher tax
- 43:16Speaker 33: bracket after they stop working. At Tumalo Financial, they can
- 43:19Speaker 33: run the numbers on your savings to show what your

- 45:31Speaker 1: Hey, this is 94.9. Good thing you can't hear what
- 45:37Speaker 1: we say off the air. You can read me.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Anyway, we are here with John Bolton, and we're going
- 45:44Speaker 1: to talk about something that is so important to Connecticut
- 45:47Speaker 1: right now, is the natural gas pipeline coming out of Pennsylvania.
- 45:51Speaker 1: We could add a billion dollars to the Connecticut economy
- 45:54Speaker 1: if we could get this. And I know, John, this
- 45:56Speaker 1: is near and dear to your heart and Ryan's heart.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Can you let us know what you think about it?
- 46:07Speaker 31: Folks in the Pennsylvania area that want to build wells
- 46:10Speaker 31: from the Marcellus Shales. And Marcellus Shale is the Atlantic
- 46:13Speaker 31: Ocean of natural gas that's located under Pennsylvania and parts
- 46:17Speaker 31: of eastern Ohio. Underneath that, you have Utica Shale, which
- 46:21Speaker 31: is the size of the Pacific Ocean. And we were
- 46:24Speaker 31: all getting ready to start negotiating land deals to get
- 46:28Speaker 31: the pipelines because they have to go over people's property.
- 46:30Speaker 31: And it was going to have to go over through
- 46:31Speaker 31: New York State. New York State, in 2014, for some reason,
- 46:35Speaker 31: decided that the Clean Water Act was being violated by
- 46:38Speaker 31: natural gas pipelines. And so Cuomo shut it down at
- 46:43Speaker 31: that time, which is a policy that's being continued by
- 46:45Speaker 31: Kathy Hochul. And when I accepted the nomination to run
- 46:48Speaker 31: for attorney general at the convention, I made this a
- 46:50Speaker 31: top priority in my speech because it's been bothering me
- 46:53Speaker 31: for now 12 years because I was back in it
- 46:55Speaker 31: back then. I will have to go to New York State,
- 46:59Speaker 31: Letitia James, Kathy Hochul, both, and simply say, what are
- 47:03Speaker 31: you doing? You are interfering with interstate commerce. you're completely
- 47:07Speaker 31: impacting in a very prejudicial way Connecticut's economy and ability
- 47:12Speaker 31: to pay our utilities. And so you have 60 days
- 47:14Speaker 31: to come up with a plan for me to allow
- 47:15Speaker 31: this to come through your state to get to Connecticut. Otherwise,
- 47:18Speaker 31: I'm going to have to take some kind of litigation action. Now,
- 47:22Speaker 31: when a state chooses another state, it goes right to
- 47:24Speaker 31: the Supreme Court. Essentially, it's kind of a rare procedure
- 47:27Speaker 31: to do. But I'm going to have to pull every
- 47:29Speaker 31: lever and use every tool in my toolbox as the
- 47:31Speaker 31: Attorney General to get New York State to come around because...
- 47:35Speaker 31: It is outrageous. And you're 100% right on that billion-dollar figure. And,
- 47:39Speaker 31: you know, Ryan is great with energy. He knows that
- 47:41Speaker 31: stuff like the back of his hands. And I know
- 47:43Speaker 31: about two weeks ago they cranked out some numbers that
- 47:46Speaker 31: were staggering as to the amount of relief the taxpayer
- 47:50Speaker 31: and the ratepayer in Connecticut would receive by just having
- 47:53Speaker 31: that access to natural gas. My opponent filed, you know,
- 47:56Speaker 31: comment letters with the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee to slow
- 48:00Speaker 31: walk a proposal to fast-track natural gas pipelines that the
- 48:06Speaker 31: Trump administration wants to go forward with. And they're saying, nope,
- 48:11Speaker 31: can't do that. It's impacting air, water, and the social
- 48:17Speaker 31: justice or environmental justice communities. Meanwhile, Plainfield, which is a
- 48:21Speaker 31: lot closer to you than it is to me, is
- 48:23Speaker 31: going through this energy or this trash plant issue that
- 48:26Speaker 31: a lot of people have valid opinions excellent points about
- 48:29Speaker 31: what it's going to do to the environment and the
- 48:31Speaker 31: quality of life of people in playing field, and not
- 48:34Speaker 31: a word from the Attorney General. Because he's much more
- 48:38Speaker 31: interested in frustrating and resisting and obstructing the federal government
- 48:43Speaker 31: than he is representing the people of Connecticut. And the
- 48:45Speaker 31: word is out. This is not a Republican or a
- 48:47Speaker 31: Democrat issue. It's very simple. It's common sense. When are
- 48:50Speaker 31: you going to start going to bat for us? I
- 48:53Speaker 31: will do that. And whether you vote for me or not,
- 48:55Speaker 31: I'm going to be your Attorney General. He always likes
- 48:58Speaker 31: to say nobody's above the law. I like to say
- 48:59Speaker 31: nobody's beneath the law's protection. And he needs to start
- 49:02Speaker 31: being the attorney general for all the people of Connecticut.
- 49:05Speaker 31: And the comment that you– when we started out this
- 49:07Speaker 31: interview about what he said about who's qualified to serve,
- 49:10Speaker 31: he told you exactly where he stands. That's the people's lawyer.
- 49:14Speaker 31: He's only the people's lawyer for half of the state.
- 49:16Speaker 31: He wrote off the other half and said we're not
- 49:18Speaker 31: even qualified to serve. it's amazing people are starting to
- 49:22Speaker 31: see it we're getting our message out there.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Yeah well it's great i mean just think about if
- 49:25Speaker 1: you have a high school and they could save 30
- 49:27Speaker 1: percent on their gas bill and every town could save
- 49:31Speaker 1: 30 percent on their gas bill and the homeowner was
- 49:33Speaker 1: saving 30 percent of gas bill It would be really
- 49:36Speaker 1: easy to absorb these electric rate increases and everything else
- 49:40Speaker 1: if you were saving it somewhere else. It's not bad.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Every once in a while, I save like $ 300 a
- 49:45Speaker 1: month on something, and then, of course, something comes up
- 49:47Speaker 1: and eats that $ 300 a month, but at least I
- 49:49Speaker 1: was able to save it.
- 49:50Speaker 4: Correct.
- 49:52Speaker 1: People need something in their favor to say, oh, my God,
- 49:56Speaker 1: our government's actually doing something for us. And the only
- 49:59Speaker 1: good thing that can happen is if Kathy Hochul loses
- 50:02Speaker 1: in New York, which I think is going to happen
- 50:04Speaker 1: because it looks like the trend is going that way,
- 50:07Speaker 1: just like it's going in Connecticut. People are just fed
- 50:10Speaker 1: up and sick and tired of a government for people
- 50:13Speaker 1: that it shouldn't represent. They've signed him. an oath to
- 50:17Speaker 1: represent the people of the state of Connecticut, not the
- 50:19Speaker 1: illegal immigrants. And they do more to protect the illegal
- 50:22Speaker 1: immigrants than they do to protect the people of the
- 50:24Speaker 1: state of Connecticut. And the same thing is happening in
- 50:28Speaker 1: New York, and I think the frustration level is going
- 50:31Speaker 1: to really help us this November.
- 50:35Speaker 31: No, I agree with you. People aren't stupid. They think
- 50:37Speaker 31: we are, but we're watching and we're not stupid. And
- 50:41Speaker 31: as usual, when somebody's in power way too long, as
- 50:44Speaker 31: this crew is up in Hartford, They become tone deaf.
- 50:47Speaker 37: Yes.
- 50:48Speaker 31: And they don't even see what they're doing. And they
- 50:50Speaker 31: push too hard.
- 50:51Speaker 1: John, unfortunately, we only have one minute left. I know
- 50:53Speaker 1: you want to talk about Cardona a little bit.
- 50:55Speaker 31: Yeah, you know, listen, the whole issue again with corruption,
- 50:58Speaker 31: it's simple. You execute a contract with a commissioner of
- 51:04Speaker 31: a commission that hasn't been created yet. And then you
- 51:06Speaker 31: put a deadline on that commission for its staffing to
- 51:09Speaker 31: be like November 5th. I'm making that date up, but
- 51:11Speaker 31: it was November 5th. And then they say, well, we
- 51:14Speaker 31: have a deadline we have to get to, so we
- 51:15Speaker 31: have to go the no-bid contract route. Are you kidding me?
- 51:19Speaker 31: I mean, this is when you have a power-drunk government
- 51:25Speaker 31: that doesn't even care. They get the sequence all messed up,
- 51:27Speaker 31: and they sit there and they give this excuse that, well,
- 51:29Speaker 31: we have to go the no-bid route on contracts because
- 51:32Speaker 31: we have a deadline. Yeah, well, you created that deadline,
- 51:35Speaker 31: so you know exactly what you were doing. That's the
- 51:37Speaker 31: hubris I'm talking about.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Really quick, John. Really quick, John. How can somebody contribute
- 51:41Speaker 1: to your campaign?
- 51:43Speaker 31: So it's going to be John Bolton, number four, ag.com.
- 51:47Speaker 31: John Bolton for ag.com. You'll see a link in there,
- 51:50Speaker 31: and you can range anywhere from $ 5 to $ 340. We
- 51:53Speaker 31: still have a lot of catch-up to do. I got
- 51:55Speaker 31: into this race late. I'm glad I did. We're going
- 51:57Speaker 31: to win. We're going to do great. It's going to
- 51:59Speaker 31: be close, and we're all going to be exhausted November 3rd,
- 52:01Speaker 31: but we're going to shock the state.
- 52:03Speaker 1: And you're having a fundraiser Monday night at Crystal Ridge
- 52:05Speaker 1: Winery in Glastonbury?
- 52:07Speaker 31: Correct, on the 28th, and it's a really beautiful backdrop,
- 52:09Speaker 31: and I want people to come out and ask me
- 52:11Speaker 31: some tough questions because nothing's off the table. I'm ready
- 52:14Speaker 31: for this, and I'm looking forward to leading the state
- 52:17Speaker 31: under a FASIO administration.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Thank you for your time today, and enjoy your big holiday.
- 52:23Speaker 31: Thank you so much.
- 52:24Speaker 5: Broadcasting live from the Bruce Delon Buick GMC Studios, WJJF, Montauk, Ledger, Mystic, Norwich, 94.9

- 52:38Speaker 38: DHS says the man is an illegal migrant from Venezuela
- 52:42Speaker 38: who illegally entered our country under the Biden administration and.
- 52:45Speaker 8: Had a final order of removal.
- 52:47Speaker 38: Police say federal agents were pursuing the man in a
- 52:50Speaker 38: car when he got out and ran, prompting agents to

- 1:02:23Speaker 47: Well, thank you, George. I'm glad to be on, especially now,
- 1:02:27Speaker 47: 43 days till Election Day, and my message is it's
- 1:02:32Speaker 47: time to take off the gloves.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Oh, definitely, 100%. We're in the second round, and we're
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: warming up like Sylvester Stallone or Rocky.
- 1:02:42Speaker 47: That's right. And when I say take off the gloves,
- 1:02:45Speaker 47: I mean raise the issue that nobody seems to be discussing,
- 1:02:50Speaker 47: but everyone in Connecticut should know about, because it makes
- 1:02:54Speaker 47: it clear that the Democratic Party in this state is
- 1:02:58Speaker 47: as far left and as radical as in New York
- 1:03:01Speaker 47: and California. The Connecticut Democrats are trying to ram through
- 1:03:05Speaker 47: a statewide property tax. They call it a mansion tax.
- 1:03:11Speaker 47: it would impact all real estate over $ 3 million. That
- 1:03:16Speaker 47: means if your primary residence is worth $ 3 million, lucky you,
- 1:03:20Speaker 47: or if you live in an apartment building, George, and
- 1:03:23Speaker 47: the apartment building is worth $ 3 million, your landlord is
- 1:03:27Speaker 47: going to get clobbered with that tax and pass it
- 1:03:30Speaker 47: on to you. We don't need a statewide property tax
- 1:03:33Speaker 47: in Connecticut. We need property tax relief, not more taxes
- 1:03:38Speaker 47: on top of the property taxes we're already paying.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Right, but when you're spending, according to the Yankee Institute,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: they're saying we're spending an average of $ 1. 5 billion a
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: year on illegals. They have to keep taxing everybody. They
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: have to find new ways to create taxes.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: That's right.
- 1:03:56Speaker 47: Connecticut has a declining population, so state spending should be declining,
- 1:04:01Speaker 47: not increasing. But I want to bring to everyone's attention
- 1:04:05Speaker 47: this statewide property tax because whether you are an owner
- 1:04:08Speaker 47: or a renter— You are going to get hit with this.
- 1:04:12Speaker 47: Voting for Democrats this time amounts to suicide because you
- 1:04:17Speaker 47: will be hit with this statewide property tax. And they
- 1:04:21Speaker 47: say houses worth $ 3 million. You know when they reintroduce it,
- 1:04:26Speaker 47: it'll be $ 1 million or maybe even $ 500, 000. The fact
- 1:04:30Speaker 47: is it's going to hit everybody, and that statewide property
- 1:04:34Speaker 47: tax is on top of what you're already paying.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Correct, and you pay a conveyance tax. Most people, because
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I own a real estate company and a jewelry store,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: almost fall off their chair when I say, well, when
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: you sell the house, you've got to figure 5% for
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: the realtor, 4%, whatever you negotiate, 6%. And then you've
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: got to add 1% conveyance tax to the state and town,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: and they go, what? I go, yeah, when you sell
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: your house, you have to pay a tax to sell
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: your house. And they're like, they fall off their chair.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: And think about how many houses are sold in Connecticut today.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: and the state is getting a half a percent of
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: your house, and the towns are getting a quarter to
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a half a percent of your house, depending on which
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: town you're in, and it adds up to some serious
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: money every month, and you wonder where that money goes.
- 1:05:16Speaker 47: But that's already on the books. Let's just make it
- 1:05:19Speaker 47: clear what we're discussing here. At stake in this election
- 1:05:23Speaker 47: is whether you're going to have a statewide property tax
- 1:05:26Speaker 47: in addition to the local property taxes, that are already
- 1:05:29Speaker 47: killing us, and especially driving seniors out of the state
- 1:05:32Speaker 47: and out of their homes. And every single Democrat in
- 1:05:37Speaker 47: committee voted for this statewide property tax, except Jill Berry,
- 1:05:43Speaker 47: who is now running as an independent and voting, caucusing
- 1:05:46Speaker 47: with the Republicans. So every single Democrat is committed to
- 1:05:50Speaker 47: voting for this statewide property tax. That means it gets
- 1:05:53Speaker 47: through no matter what, unless we have a red wave
- 1:05:57Speaker 47: and break the Democrats' supermajority in the legislature. Nobody wants
- 1:06:03Speaker 47: a statewide property tax. They're keeping it silent. I haven't
- 1:06:07Speaker 47: heard our wonderful candidate for governor, Ryan Fazio, discuss this
- 1:06:12Speaker 47: statewide property tax, but he should be discussing it. If
- 1:06:16Speaker 47: he's coming on today, please ask him about it. I
- 1:06:19Speaker 47: don't mean it as a criticism, but as I said,
- 1:06:21Speaker 47: it's time to take the gloves off. And when people vote,
- 1:06:25Speaker 47: either early voting or they go to the polls, just remember,
- 1:06:28Speaker 47: you pulled that lever for the Democrats, you are voting
- 1:06:31Speaker 47: for a statewide property tax on top of the local
- 1:06:35Speaker 47: property tax you're already paying. And if you're a renter,
- 1:06:39Speaker 47: you're voting to raise your rent.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: No, it's craziness. And then I know the gas pipeline
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: was something you had in your campaign, and we know
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: it will add a billion dollars– a year to the economy.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Imagine if we can reduce people's gas bills by a
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: billion dollars a year. That's what the research says it's
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: going to bring. And, I mean, that would just help everybody, renters, landlords, municipalities.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: It will help everybody. And this governor won't even talk
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: about it.
- 1:07:08Speaker 17: Right.
- 1:07:08Speaker 47: He won't talk about it. But you know what he
- 1:07:10Speaker 47: really won't talk about, George? He won't talk about the
- 1:07:14Speaker 47: fact that Connecticut is tied with Oregon for the second
- 1:07:18Speaker 47: worst unemployment figures in the nation. He's actually going to
- 1:07:23Speaker 47: business groups and bragging about his performance over the last
- 1:07:26Speaker 47: eight years. Connecticut ranks almost last, second to dead last,
- 1:07:32Speaker 47: for unemployment. Unemployment. There is no reason why unemployment should
- 1:07:37Speaker 47: be a problem in Connecticut. We have great resources. We
- 1:07:41Speaker 47: have a highly educated workforce. We have a major airport.
- 1:07:45Speaker 47: We are sandwiched between two of the biggest cities in
- 1:07:49Speaker 47: the United States. And we have our own thriving economy.
- 1:07:54Speaker 47: It was thriving, but it's not thriving anymore because under
- 1:07:57Speaker 47: Lamont's heavy taxes and regulations, businesses and other employers have
- 1:08:03Speaker 47: left the state. And now Connecticut's unemployment.
- 1:08:07Speaker 31: 5.1 percent.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: It's a disgrace.
- 1:08:09Speaker 47: Tied with Oregon for the second worst employment figures in
- 1:08:15Speaker 47: the nation. Only California is worse. a little higher, a
- 1:08:18Speaker 47: little more than 5.1%. So the Dems are Californicating Connecticut.
- 1:08:24Speaker 47: That's what they're doing. They're far, far left Dems, and
- 1:08:27Speaker 47: they are destroying the state. They're socialists.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Well, you know, I believe that, you know, unemployment, the
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: problem with unemployment in the state of Connecticut is you
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: go on LinkedIn and you make three appointments for your job,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: and then you don't have to show up, and you're getting,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: you know, you wind up getting, you know, the help
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: from the federal government. So you get $ 300 to $ 500
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: a month in food stamps, and then you wind up,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: call it food stamps because that's what it is. They
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: have different names for it now. More politically correct, I
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: call it food stamps. Then you have... you're getting $ 600
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: or $ 700 a week unemployment, and there's no reason for
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: you to go get a job. But, okay, after six weeks,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: you should start losing 5% a week of your unemployment.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: So it's going down, so it forces you to get
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: a job because sometimes the job.
- 1:09:12Speaker 10: You have to take.
- 1:09:13Speaker 41: There's only one person to blame for this, George.
- 1:09:15Speaker 47: It's not all these benefits. It's Ned Lamont. Lefty Lamont
- 1:09:20Speaker 47: is to blame for this very high unemployment rate. And
- 1:09:24Speaker 47: the Connecticut Republican Party should have billboards up and down 95, 84,
- 1:09:32Speaker 47: all the different roads, calling attention to the fact that
- 1:09:36Speaker 47: we are almost tied for last place in the worst
- 1:09:41Speaker 47: unemployment figures in the nation. How can you explain it
- 1:09:44Speaker 47: when we have such an educated workforce And so many resources.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Outrageous.
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: But if you Google or you research the top 25
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: companies that left the state of Connecticut, it's major industries
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: like Lego, major manufacturing, Stanley Works. You lose these type
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: of jobs and you don't replace them. And then if
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: you research the top 25 companies that have come in,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: we're opening branches at Chase Bank. We have Dave's Little
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Chicken opening three franchises in Connecticut. And that's what we're
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: replacing it with. So when you lose jobs of Lego
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: and lower paying jobs, and then you have these people
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: on unemployment and they don't want to take the lower
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: paying jobs because we're not bringing in the big people.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: That's right. That's the problem.
- 1:10:30Speaker 47: And when our kids graduate from high school or college
- 1:10:33Speaker 47: and want to stay in Connecticut, they can't because there's
- 1:10:35Speaker 47: no future for them here. So we have to revive Connecticut.
- 1:10:40Speaker 47: As you know, when I ran, my major platform was
- 1:10:44Speaker 47: phasing out the state income tax because it will make
- 1:10:48Speaker 47: Connecticut competitive again. All those companies you just mentioned that
- 1:10:52Speaker 47: have left Connecticut, they've all gone to states. with zero
- 1:10:56Speaker 47: state income tax or states that are phasing it out
- 1:10:59Speaker 47: using the same plan that I've proposed. It doesn't create
- 1:11:02Speaker 47: a big hole in the budget. Basically, it says the
- 1:11:07Speaker 47: legislation says we're capping spending at the current level. I
- 1:11:11Speaker 47: can't go up. Very reasonable since Connecticut's losing population. And
- 1:11:15Speaker 47: then when new revenue comes in, and it will, once
- 1:11:18Speaker 47: you announce you're going to zero, business picks up, activity
- 1:11:21Speaker 47: picks up. All that new revenue... is devoted to axing
- 1:11:25Speaker 47: the tax. Every time new revenue increases 5%, you slice
- 1:11:29Speaker 47: that tax rate again. And in five to seven years,
- 1:11:33Speaker 47: you have created a state that will be the economic
- 1:11:36Speaker 47: engine of the Northeast.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, no, there's no question about it. And just
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: think about it. If the gas pipeline came in, we'd
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: save businesses 30% on their gas bills to heat their buildings.
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: That's right.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: You know, just that alone would create jobs right off
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: the top of the bat because if The companies had
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: an ease in, like, let's say they paid a million
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: dollars a year to heat their plant, and now they're
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: paying $ 700, 000. That puts $ 300, 000 in their budget to hire
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: more people or do more development or do more product
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: development that they're not paying for a basic utility cost
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: that they won't have to pay in South Carolina or
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: North Carolina or Kentucky, where all these businesses seem to
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: be heading to because the utility costs are so much
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: lower in those states.
- 1:12:17Speaker 47: So, George, are you going to have any Democrats on
- 1:12:20Speaker 47: your program?
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Well, I am a Democrat, but my party has left me.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I've built a homeless shelter. Let's get them on and
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: nail them over this statewide property tax. They won't come on.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I've tried. Trust me, I've tried. I've invited them all on.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: They will not. And I'm a Democrat.
- 1:12:37Speaker 47: I'm not criticizing you. I'm not criticizing you. I just
- 1:12:40Speaker 47: want to nail these Democrats on the statewide property tax.
- 1:12:44Speaker 47: I haven't seen it discussed. We ought to have billboards.
- 1:12:47Speaker 47: We ought to have it in social media. We ought
- 1:12:50Speaker 47: to be warning everybody in the state about what's to come,
- 1:12:54Speaker 47: because as soon as they get back into office after
- 1:12:56Speaker 47: the break, they're going to push.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: This bill through. They'll probably call a special session and
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: put it through before Christmas, you know, as our Christmas present.
- 1:13:03Speaker 47: You bet. This bill was sponsored by Martin Looney, the
- 1:13:06Speaker 47: majority leader, and everybody is falling into line. They're probably
- 1:13:10Speaker 47: going to call it the Looney Bill, and it should be.
- 1:13:13Speaker 48: It's lunatic.
- 1:13:14Speaker 47: It's lunacy to pass a statewide property tax.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: As soon as Jill Berry voted against them, she got
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: voted out of her seat because she voted with the
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Republicans for two things. She voted for backing the police
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: and she voted for this bill not to happen. And
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: as soon as she did that, they took over her
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: committee meeting with like 80 Haitians. And we don't even
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: know if they were registered. She was not allowed to speak.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: She was not allowed to do anything. Thank God Jill
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Berry has the strength to move forward and go for it.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: And the Republicans had offered her that if she does
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: win as an independent, that they will caucus with her
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: so that she will have a party and she will
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: have a say. So this is huge news. I'm going
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: to be on October 4th. I plan on having Jill
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Berry on that show to discuss what happened with her
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: so she can explain everything. She'll talk more about the
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: housing bill and that bill and why we're short 1,000
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: state police officers and the overtime has run amok. God
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: bless them, but they can't work as many hours as
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: replacing 1,000 state police, but nobody wants to take the
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: job because their governor's not backing them and their attorney
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: general's not backing the state police. So you're looking at 1,000
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: people short.
- 1:14:26Speaker 47: Now, there's one other issue we need to call attention to,
- 1:14:30Speaker 47: and now I'm talking specifically to all the people listening
- 1:14:33Speaker 47: this morning who are driving to work.
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: Work.
- 1:14:36Speaker 47: Remember work?
- 1:14:37Speaker 49: W-O-R-K.
- 1:14:39Speaker 47: Well, our attorney general and Lefty Lamont, our governor, They
- 1:14:45Speaker 47: don't care about work. They want to hand welfare benefits
- 1:14:49Speaker 47: to immigrants who don't work, right? They want immigrants who
- 1:14:53Speaker 47: don't work and collect Medicaid.
- 1:14:56Speaker 32: Food stamps.
- 1:14:57Speaker 47: You call it food stamps, and I call it... It's
- 1:14:59Speaker 47: actually SNAP benefits. When Donald Trump and the feds said, okay,
- 1:15:05Speaker 47: we're not going to allow those welfare benefits for immigrants,
- 1:15:10Speaker 47: and immigrants who take them... will not be eligible for
- 1:15:14Speaker 47: permanent status, like a green card, right? That's reasonable. We
- 1:15:18Speaker 47: shouldn't be bringing in people from all around the world
- 1:15:22Speaker 47: who are needy and need welfare. We should take care
- 1:15:24Speaker 47: of our own first. If somebody's down and out, we
- 1:15:27Speaker 47: help them. But that's because they're our neighbor. They're not
- 1:15:29Speaker 47: a newcomer who just came here. But Lefty Lamont and
- 1:15:33Speaker 47: the Democrats are suing the federal government Because the federal
- 1:15:38Speaker 47: government doesn't want to give green cards and permanent status
- 1:15:42Speaker 47: to freeloaders, right? We're all working hard. We're driving to
- 1:15:46Speaker 47: work right now. And they want to take our money
- 1:15:49Speaker 47: and hand it to people who just arrived.
- 1:15:52Speaker 31: And want to be freeloaders.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Well, just think about this. California Senate passed a bill.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: that they're going to give down payment assistance to illegal
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: aliens for houses. And it's going to the House, Republican House,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: and they're probably going to pass it. And I really
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: think we should just send all the illegals to California
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: and then just have Trump continue the border wall between
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: California and all the boarding states and say, okay, California,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: you're here. You're your own country. God bless you.
- 1:16:18Speaker 47: You know, and— You know, that's a darn good idea, George.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: You know, I mean, it is what it is. They
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: all want them. They all hug them. They all— They
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: all want him until it's in... No, no, not in
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: my neighborhood, not in my house, but yeah.
- 1:16:30Speaker 47: Listen, Lefty, Lefty Lamont, wants to Californicate Connecticut. He has
- 1:16:35Speaker 47: said again and again, when California passes these various extremely
- 1:16:40Speaker 47: left-wing bills, he wants Connecticut to imitate. And this is
- 1:16:43Speaker 47: the same thing. Connecticut is now holding up the sign,
- 1:16:47Speaker 47: if you are a newcomer, an immigrant, and you want
- 1:16:50Speaker 47: to go on all kinds of dole, we're going to
- 1:16:53Speaker 47: defend you... and we're going to make sure you get
- 1:16:55Speaker 47: a green card. We're going to sue Trump, and we're
- 1:16:58Speaker 47: going to make sure that the federal government is forced
- 1:17:01Speaker 47: to give you permanent status even though you are mooching
- 1:17:05Speaker 47: off hardworking people driving to work right now. Yep, that's
- 1:17:09Speaker 47: what they want to do here.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: What Trump should do is say, you know what, we're
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: going to give all the illegal aliens a green card
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: as long as you vote Republican and sign up for Republican,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: and then the Democrats will want them out of the state.
- 1:17:19Speaker 47: Nah. No, I think sending him to California was a
- 1:17:22Speaker 47: better idea.
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Well, we've got to have ideas. You know, we can
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: talk about them at least. But I think California should
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: become its own property and let them just dissolve amongst themselves.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: And we should take Alberta. Alberta's got better rules, better rights.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: And we can take the Canadian oil and gas and
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: make our country stronger and let California go float on
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: its own.
- 1:17:48Speaker 47: I just want to see. Connecticut respects working people instead
- 1:17:52Speaker 47: of the moochers. That's the key here. Respect the working people,
- 1:17:57Speaker 47: the law-abiding citizens, not the moochers, the freeloaders, and the
- 1:18:01Speaker 47: people who are just arriving illegally.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Well, you're going to have– we're going to know in
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: how many days we have left until the election?
- 1:18:10Speaker 9: 43.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: 43 days. So in 43 days, we'll know what's going
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: to happen to the state of Connecticut. Two of my
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: kids live in Florida and will not move here. They'll
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: work at grocery stores bagging before they'll come back to Connecticut.
- 1:18:25Speaker 47: Well, I'm urging everyone listening to get out and vote.
- 1:18:28Speaker 47: Get out and vote for our great Republican candidates. And
- 1:18:31Speaker 47: I'm saying to the candidates whom I respect greatly, time
- 1:18:35Speaker 47: to take off the gloves, right? It's time to take
- 1:18:38Speaker 47: off the gloves and start by saying, discussing on every
- 1:18:43Speaker 47: radio show, on every TV appearance, put up the billboards,
- 1:18:47Speaker 47: alert people that the Dems are pushing. a statewide property
- 1:18:51Speaker 47: tax on top of the property taxes.
- 1:18:54Speaker 31: That are already killing you.

- 1:25:39Speaker 8: What's my line?
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: This one.
- 1:25:42Speaker 19: We should just do this.
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: No, you do this. You do this line.
- 1:25:46Speaker 46: So, yes, we may be a little off the beaten path,
- 1:25:48Speaker 46: but that's only because the beaten path doesn't have this
- 1:25:52Speaker 46: much good stuff in it.
- 1:25:53Speaker 37: On it.
- 1:25:54Speaker 26: On it.

- 1:26:57Speaker 19: More than a score.
- 1:26:58Speaker 32: Brought to you by Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, where
- 1:27:01Speaker 32: members bank better. Well, it's almost fitting the way things
- 1:27:05Speaker 32: have gone this season for the Boston Red Sox that
- 1:27:08Speaker 32: they would clinch a playoff spot on a.
- 1:27:11Speaker 8: Day that they lost.
- 1:27:12Speaker 32: It fits perfectly with the way this Red Sox season
- 1:27:15Speaker 32: has gone. I mean, think about it. At the beginning
- 1:27:18Speaker 32: of the year, fans filled Fenway Park and chanted to
- 1:27:21Speaker 32: the owners, sell the team.
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: Then a few weeks later, after the team was.
- 1:27:25Speaker 32: Bad, they fired their super popular World Series winning manager,
- 1:27:29Speaker 32: Alex Cora. And heck, at one point, the Red Sox
- 1:27:31Speaker 32: were the worst team in baseball. The season looked like
- 1:27:34Speaker 32: a lost cause. Then somehow they managed to win 15
- 1:27:38Speaker 32: in a row, a team record, and go 27-3 over
- 1:27:41Speaker 32: 30 games. And now a team that once looked dead
- 1:27:44Speaker 32: and buried is one of 12 teams left standing that'll
- 1:27:47Speaker 32: have a chance to win a World Series.
- 1:27:50Speaker 7: Unbelievable, right?
- 1:27:51Speaker 6: With more than just a score, I'm Fish on Sports.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 1:27:58Speaker 8: I'm Sean Murphy.
- 1:27:58Speaker 30: Becoming partly sunny today with a high around 70. Norwich
- 1:28:02Speaker 30: police responded to Boswell Avenue Sunday evening after a woman
- 1:28:06Speaker 30: allegedly sprayed a man with raid after he punched her
- 1:28:10Speaker 30: in the face. Firefighters and EMS were called when the
- 1:28:14Speaker 30: man reported difficulty breathing. It was not immediately clear if
- 1:28:19Speaker 30: either faces charges. A judge ordered New London financial offender
- 1:28:23Speaker 30: Stephen Gurney to pay nearly $ 588, 000 to his victims. He
- 1:28:30Speaker 30: admitted violating probation by failing to pay restitution and working
- 1:28:34Speaker 30: in prohibited financial businesses. Waterford and New London firefighters responded to.
- 1:28:39Speaker 8: An RV fire.
- 1:28:40Speaker 30: On I-95 North near exit 82A Saturday afternoon. The flames
- 1:28:45Speaker 30: spread to nearby grass and woods. No injuries were reported.
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: The cause is being investigated.
- 1:28:51Speaker 30: The Eastline Privacy Group wants the town's six flock cameras
- 1:28:55Speaker 30: turned off. while officials consider regulations. A public meeting is
- 1:28:59Speaker 30: scheduled for October 1st at the Community Center. More than 1,000 U.S., Australian,
- 1:29:05Speaker 30: and British defense officials and contractors will attend a classified
- 1:29:09Speaker 30: undersea warfare conference at the Naval Submarine Base this week.
- 1:29:15Speaker 30: The three-day event will focus on submarine technology, artificial intelligence, security,
- 1:29:21Speaker 30: and military readiness.
- 1:29:23Speaker 8: I'm Sean Murphy. When news breaks, we break in. The
- 1:29:26Speaker 8: seat of honor.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Brought to you.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: By Densmore Oil and Bugbee Plumbing.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Good morning. This is George Agnelli on 94.9 News Now.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: I'm covering for the Lee Elsie Show. And I have
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: an exciting guest with a lot of energy, a young
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: lady that started a group called Take Back Connecticut. Her
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: name is Amy Borden, and I know she could go
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: on for hours on this show, but we're going to
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: give her a half hour to get some of her
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: points across, and I think you're going to love them.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Good morning, Amy.
- 1:29:57Speaker 37: Good morning, George.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 1:30:00Speaker 37: Thanks for having me on.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: Oh, anytime.
- 1:30:03Speaker 37: And I hear that Ryan Fazio is coming up after me.
- 1:30:06Speaker 37: What an honor to precede him.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Yes, well, I needed my warm-up. I had to get
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: everybody fired up and then get Ryan on.
- 1:30:15Speaker 37: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I mean, you know, Ryan's doing
- 1:30:20Speaker 37: a great job out there hammering home what we're facing
- 1:30:25Speaker 37: and what we have been facing in Connecticut, which is
- 1:30:28Speaker 37: just total government overreach on so many levels. And, you know,
- 1:30:33Speaker 37: affordability packs a punch in the state of Connecticut when
- 1:30:38Speaker 37: it comes to the cost of living, like Betsy McCoy
- 1:30:41Speaker 37: was talking about. And one of those things that we
- 1:30:44Speaker 37: can control as the voter is who we put in office,
- 1:30:49Speaker 37: because these are the folks that are legislating new taxes
- 1:30:55Speaker 37: and raising existing ones. And so to try to go
- 1:31:00Speaker 37: in and help Ryan Fazio and the Democrats, I'm sorry,
- 1:31:06Speaker 37: the Republicans that are on the ticket this election year,
- 1:31:10Speaker 37: I've been doing some research on just how far and
- 1:31:14Speaker 37: wide some of these taxes that have been implemented over
- 1:31:18Speaker 37: the years go. And, you know, Ned Lamont, obviously a Democrat,
- 1:31:24Speaker 37: and hopefully there's independent and unaffiliated voters that listen to
- 1:31:28Speaker 37: this show. I know Lee draws that crowd heavily, so
- 1:31:33Speaker 37: I hope they're paying close attention to this segment because
- 1:31:37Speaker 37: they're the ones that we need to swing this vote
- 1:31:40Speaker 37: to the right to help us stop the bleeding. But
- 1:31:44Speaker 37: Ned Lamont and Governor Malloy, all of the Connecticut Democrats
- 1:31:50Speaker 37: that our citizens here in Connecticut have put into office
- 1:31:55Speaker 37: over the years have just, I mean, stacked tax upon
- 1:32:01Speaker 37: tax upon tax. One of the things that I wrote
- 1:32:06Speaker 37: about last week, if you go to my Facebook page,
- 1:32:10Speaker 37: my name is Amy Borden, and it's spelled B-O-U-R-D-O-N. You
- 1:32:15Speaker 37: can go. I'm going to pin that post again, and
- 1:32:18Speaker 37: it talks about 2011. 2011 was a banner year for
- 1:32:24Speaker 37: tax implementation here in the state of Connecticut under, as
- 1:32:29Speaker 37: we are now, Connecticut supermajority rule. And, I mean, they
- 1:32:35Speaker 37: just blanketed everything that hadn't been taxed yet that they
- 1:32:39Speaker 37: could think of, everything from nail salon services to parking
- 1:32:43Speaker 37: a trailer, parking an RV. You know, you get your
- 1:32:47Speaker 37: car towed, they wanted to tax that. As if it
- 1:32:50Speaker 37: wasn't bad enough that you needed to tow your car,
- 1:32:52Speaker 37: they got to kick you when you're down. And I
- 1:32:56Speaker 37: just went year by year, and I'm trying to put
- 1:32:58Speaker 37: together a nice timeline just to show that, how bad
- 1:33:02Speaker 37: it has gotten. You know, I mean, I'm resurrecting things
- 1:33:06Speaker 37: like the grocery prepared foods pack. You go to the
- 1:33:11Speaker 37: grocery store, you buy a rotisserie chicken, the state government
- 1:33:15Speaker 37: thinks they should be able to tax that because it's prepared.
- 1:33:19Speaker 37: The bag that you put it in to carry home,
- 1:33:21Speaker 37: they think they should be able to tax it. You know,
- 1:33:25Speaker 37: ambulatory services. Someone, literally companies that are taking care of
- 1:33:29Speaker 37: somebody that broke their arm over the weekend or whatever.
- 1:33:33Speaker 37: They walk into an urgent care. These folks are getting taxed.
- 1:33:38Speaker 37: These businesses are getting taxed. You know, it just it
- 1:33:43Speaker 37: never ends. It never ends with the Connecticut Democrats. And
- 1:33:47Speaker 37: then the other pattern that I discovered is they put
- 1:33:51Speaker 37: the tax in place and within five years they raise it.
- 1:33:55Speaker 37: So you'll see these taxes get implemented 1%, 2%, 3%.
- 1:34:01Speaker 37: And then if you fast forward, you'll see that instantly, boom,
- 1:34:06Speaker 37: they jumped it to 5% or 6%. They've raised our
- 1:34:10Speaker 37: income tax in the state of Connecticut. So there's a
- 1:34:14Speaker 37: clear pattern here. And we, I feel like as Republicans,
- 1:34:19Speaker 37: we have kind of pigeonholed ourselves into only talking about
- 1:34:25Speaker 37: what has happened in the previous election cycle. And that
- 1:34:28Speaker 37: does the voter a disservice because some of these folks
- 1:34:33Speaker 37: in Hartford have been in office or they're new and
- 1:34:37Speaker 37: they're freshmen senators or freshmen house reps, but they vote lock, stock,
- 1:34:43Speaker 37: and barrel with their colleagues in the Democrat Party. They've
- 1:34:47Speaker 37: been in there for so long or they are just
- 1:34:50Speaker 37: so emboldened thinking that the average voter has no idea
- 1:34:55Speaker 37: what's going on. And I have to agree with some
- 1:34:58Speaker 37: of that because as Republicans, we don't go far back
- 1:35:02Speaker 37: enough and say, wait a minute, how long has this
- 1:35:05Speaker 37: been going on? We say, you know, they've been in
- 1:35:08Speaker 37: office for decades.
- 1:35:09Speaker 32: Okay.
- 1:35:09Speaker 37: But what does that mean? What has it cost us?
- 1:35:13Speaker 37: And so I'm going to be rolling out on my
- 1:35:16Speaker 37: page and through my group page, Take Back Connecticut, which
- 1:35:19Speaker 37: people are welcome to go ahead and join. Um, some
- 1:35:23Speaker 37: of these, you know, taxations that, uh, we, you know,
- 1:35:27Speaker 37: I was out with my girlfriends getting my nails done.
- 1:35:29Speaker 37: I said, look, look back in 2011, they put the
- 1:35:32Speaker 37: manicure pedicure tax in. I mean, there's no dry cleaning,
- 1:35:36Speaker 37: you name it.
- 1:35:37Speaker 47: Over the years.
- 1:35:38Speaker 37: They just, if you buy it, if you, if it's
- 1:35:41Speaker 37: a service you utilize, look at the receipt right now,
- 1:35:45Speaker 37: we need everyone to be looking at receipts and invoices,
- 1:35:49Speaker 37: taking a picture of it, circle what Connecticut is collecting
- 1:35:54Speaker 37: and post it to social media and tag Ryan Fazio,
- 1:35:57Speaker 37: tag your local House rep that's running on the Republican ticket,
- 1:36:01Speaker 37: tag your local Senate rep that's running on the Republican ticket.
- 1:36:05Speaker 37: We need this stuff to go viral because they have
- 1:36:08Speaker 37: to own it. They have to stand up and say, yeah,
- 1:36:12Speaker 37: we did that and here's why. And the bigger question is,
- 1:36:15Speaker 37: and I want to let you comment on this, and
- 1:36:19Speaker 37: I've been talking for a while, but The bigger issue
- 1:36:21Speaker 37: is why. What do they have planned for the following
- 1:36:26Speaker 37: year that they need to implement a new tax? What
- 1:36:30Speaker 37: are they already dreaming up that they're going to spend
- 1:36:33Speaker 37: it on? What have they earmarked it for? Who have
- 1:36:37Speaker 37: they promised money to? That is at the core of
- 1:36:41Speaker 37: why they're doing this.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: It's out of control.
- 1:36:43Speaker 37: It's out of control.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: So it's going to go to charter schools because that's
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: what Stephen Mandel's policy is. He wants very expensive charter
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: schools that he can run, and he wants public housing,
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: which he can run. And he's a billionaire out of Greenwich,
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: and he's really pulling the puppet strings for the Democratic Party.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: And if you go against him, he eliminates you. He
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: finds somebody to run against you, and that's what happened
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: to John Larson. John Larson was against charter schools, and
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: he— basically funded Luke Brunnen's campaign. And Luke didn't take
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: any money from other people because he's what Mr. Mandel wants.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: And he's not going to go against he's not going
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: to do what's best for the state of Connecticut. He's
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: going to do what's best for Mr. Mandel. And, you know,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: he's a hedge fund billionaire. And he's really set up several.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: I mean, I can't tell you how many different companies
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: he's set up and he's getting state grant money and
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: he's He's really doing illegal lobbying, but our attorney general
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: is not going to pay attention to what he's doing.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: So we're hoping that we can change this and that
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: something can happen. But as long as they have a
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: supermajority and they keep winning a supermajority, they're going to
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: keep saying, well, you don't mind taxes. We're going to
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: give you a few more. We're going to add a
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: few more in. And those are things that happen. So
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: you buy it, you pay tax. You repair it, you
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: pay tax. You have it towed, you pay tax. You
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: then give it to your kids and you pay an
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: inheritance tax. So that same item is taxed. And if
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: you store your RV at a storage facility, you pay
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: tax on the storage. You're paying tax on the RV.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: You're paying tax. I mean, you just taxed it. By
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: the time you're done, if you buy it for $ 50, 000,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: by the time you're done repairing it, storing it, towing it,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: you may have paid another 40 grand in tax for
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: a $ 50, 000 vehicle. It's just absolutely. And if you live
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: in like East Hartford or Hartford or, you know, where
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: the town's tax rate's 50%, you know, the mill rate's
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: 50 points and you have a $ 20, 000 car, you're paying $ 1, 000
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: just to drive a secondhand car.
- 1:38:47Speaker 37: That was another issue is how they decided to tax
- 1:38:50Speaker 37: the MSRP. People were opening their automobile tax bills and,
- 1:38:55Speaker 37: you know, jaws were hitting the floor. And some of
- 1:38:58Speaker 37: these people on social media, I'm like, no, no, you
- 1:39:01Speaker 37: don't get to complain because you voted for that.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:39:04Speaker 37: So don't take your post down and go complain somewhere
- 1:39:07Speaker 37: else or else go into the ballot at the, you know,
- 1:39:11Speaker 37: the election booth and change what you're doing. And There
- 1:39:15Speaker 37: has to be, you know, Betsy said it best when
- 1:39:19Speaker 37: she said Connecticut is just like California. And I say
- 1:39:22Speaker 37: it all the time. I mean, Connecticut is just like
- 1:39:25Speaker 37: California and Canada.
- 1:39:27Speaker 47: I mean, we.
- 1:39:29Speaker 37: Mimic what they're doing in the two worst, like most
- 1:39:34Speaker 37: socialism implemented policy places there are. And how'd that go
- 1:39:39Speaker 37: for Canada?
- 1:39:40Speaker 47: That's what I say to everyone.
- 1:39:41Speaker 37: I'm like, if you want to watch how bad this
- 1:39:43Speaker 37: experiment is, with Democrat rule, and giving everything away for free,
- 1:39:49Speaker 37: and thinking that every single thing, you can just throw
- 1:39:52Speaker 37: a tax on it to fund some cockamamie agency implementing
- 1:40:00Speaker 37: new ideas for this, and we'll give this organization... Remember
- 1:40:04Speaker 37: when Gary did a segment on all the different organizations
- 1:40:08Speaker 37: that got $ 480, 000, almost a half million dollars, and there
- 1:40:11Speaker 37: was like a page and a half of them. I mean,
- 1:40:14Speaker 37: just a half million. It's like, Oprah, you get a
- 1:40:16Speaker 37: half million. You get a half million. You get a
- 1:40:18Speaker 37: half million. It's like, that's our money. How come there's
- 1:40:23Speaker 37: all this money, and they ran a surplus, and they
- 1:40:26Speaker 37: haven't given any relief to the taxpayer?
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:40:30Speaker 37: I mean, there was one Democrat in Connecticut that got
- 1:40:34Speaker 37: caught on a hot mic saying you could tax You
- 1:40:38Speaker 37: can tax my people. That's what she called them. You
- 1:40:40Speaker 37: can tax my people more. They won't even notice.
- 1:40:43Speaker 31: I mean, look.
- 1:40:45Speaker 37: Like, how do people go back in and reelect these folks?
- 1:40:50Speaker 37: I don't, I mean, I don't get it. I really
- 1:40:52Speaker 37: think this year it's going to take the collective in
- 1:40:55Speaker 37: order to change the trajectory dramatically. It's going to.
- 1:41:00Speaker 47: Take the collective.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry to interrupt you, but we've got to take
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: a break right now.
- 1:41:03Speaker 37: That's okay.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: And I know getting you going is like spinning a top, man.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: You just get it going. This is George Agnelli with
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: 94 News Now. We're going to come back with Amy Borden,
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: take back Connecticut, and then we're going to talk about
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: the big party tonight that she's coming to and helping promote,
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: the Red, White, and Blue Party. Be back in a
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: few minutes.
- 1:41:27Speaker 49: And I'm giving up hope for the afternoon soaps and
- 1:41:31Speaker 49: a bottle of cold brew.
- 1:41:32Speaker 26: In East Lyme, the exit 74 on-ramp from Route 161
- 1:41:34Speaker 26: to I-95 northbound is closed today.
- 1:41:48Speaker 10: Going over the Gold Star Bridge, the road construction continues.
- 1:41:53Speaker 10: Route 12 is stop and go in both directions and rotten.
- 1:41:57Speaker 10: Route 32, slow northbound of the Coast Guard Academy. Slow
- 1:42:01Speaker 10: northbound just past Connecticut College.

- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Hi, this is George Agnelli with 94 News Now. Filling
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: in on the Lee Elsie show for you on this
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: gorgeous Monday. Nice fall day. Getting ready for the party
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: tonight with Amy and most of the Republicans will be there.
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: It's going to be a fun event at Water's Edge.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: It's the third annual Red, White, and Blue party. Lee
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Elsie Gary Byron, George Agnelli bring this party to you.
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: And there's no speeches, so you don't have to come
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: and be bored. But there is locomotion, so make sure
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: you bring your dancing shoes because it is one of
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: the best dance bands in Connecticut. And we're going to
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: have a fun time tonight. And we look forward to
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: everybody coming. And, you know, it's only $ 50 to get in.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: And you don't have to buy anything. You can just
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: come for the $ 50. You can have water. If you
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: want to, Water's Edge gives us the whole resort, so
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: we have plenty of room for everybody. And they allow
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: us to eat in the dining room, eat outside, eat
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: in the bar. Whatever you'd like to do, they open
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: up the whole place to us. And you're going to
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: get to meet some great people tonight. And we'll have
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: a lot of fun. Amy, how are you doing there?
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: I know Amy does Take Back Connecticut. It's free to
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: be on her Facebook page. And it gives you a
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: lot of insight of what's going on. And I advise
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: everybody to join it.
- 1:47:07Speaker 37: Yeah, we have quite a mix. You know, it's conservatives, Republicans.
- 1:47:13Speaker 37: We have quite a few unaffiliated and independent. I love
- 1:47:17Speaker 37: hearing their perspectives. You know, we try to post myself
- 1:47:23Speaker 37: and the members and other administrators that I've appointed. We
- 1:47:26Speaker 37: try to post event information like you just mentioned for tonight.
- 1:47:31Speaker 37: So we've been posting about the Red, White, and Blue Party,
- 1:47:33Speaker 37: which I love coming. It's a great time. The proceeds
- 1:47:38Speaker 37: go to the Connecticut GOP, and it's a huge fundraiser.
- 1:47:42Speaker 37: We really need people to come buy a ticket. If
- 1:47:45Speaker 37: you can't make it, you can still buy a ticket online,
- 1:47:49Speaker 37: and the proceeds go to the Connecticut GOP. It just
- 1:47:53Speaker 37: helps to fund. We have a website. We have other things,
- 1:47:56Speaker 37: but there's an overhead to running the Connecticut GOP, and
- 1:48:00Speaker 37: this helps to cover some of those costs so that
- 1:48:03Speaker 37: we can have a little extra to help kick back
- 1:48:05Speaker 37: the candidates and to put back into the community and
- 1:48:09Speaker 37: try to drive awareness through a lot of the things
- 1:48:11Speaker 37: we're talking about. So I'm looking forward to going.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: And it's from great sponsorship. This is a free event.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: So if you buy a $ 50 ticket, all $ 50. goes
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: to the Connecticut Republican Party. Dave from Barber Utilities sponsored
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: the band. We have a ton of raffle prizes. It's
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: a silent, so you don't have to sit there and
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: listen to numbers being called out. It's a silent raffle.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Whoever the highest bidder is gets it. There's a lot
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: of restaurant gift certificates, a lot of bottles of wine.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: If you want to come tonight, drop off something for
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: your company so you can be promoted. There's going to
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: be 400 to 500 like-minded people at this party. It
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: will be a lot of fun. We will have a
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: great time. You'll have great food, great wine, great drinks.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: If more people would buy online, we would know how
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: many people will be there. which would help us with service,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: but they're going to be fully staffed, and we're going
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: to hopefully do our best to make sure everybody has
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: an amazing experience. And you're not going to some dingy
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: hall for a fundraiser. You know, we're trying to, you know,
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: bring you to one of the best spots in Connecticut,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: and they're tired of paying, you know, $ 30, 000 to $ 50, 000
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: a month for lights, and that has to go to
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: their guests.
- 1:49:26Speaker 37: It's a beautiful venue there, beautiful venue, and.
- 1:49:29Speaker 41: They do a nice job, and, you know.
- 1:49:33Speaker 37: And part of what we were talking about earlier is how,
- 1:49:36Speaker 37: you know, Ned Lamont and the Democrats get up there
- 1:49:39Speaker 37: and they talk about bringing tourism into the state. And
- 1:49:41Speaker 37: then they kill the tourists with taxes, left and right,
- 1:49:43Speaker 37: occupancy taxes. They've raised them over a year, over a year.
- 1:49:47Speaker 37: You as a jeweler should know this one. They put
- 1:49:50Speaker 37: a 7% tax on jewelry over $ 5, 000. So for young
- 1:49:55Speaker 37: people trying to get engaged and stuff like that, they
- 1:49:57Speaker 37: got to pay 7%. Right.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: So we have to buy it unassembled. So it helps
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: So we sell the setting as one item, and usually
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: that's under $ 5, 000, and then we sell the diamond, and
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: hopefully we can make the numbers work so you stay
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: under that $ 5, 000 number.
- 1:50:15Speaker 37: Oh, there you go.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: So we sell it as two parts rather than one
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: piece just to help people out in the state of Connecticut.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Because the setting is completely different, or the mounting is
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: a completely different sale than the diamonds.
- 1:50:27Speaker 37: We found a way to throw the tea in the harbor.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: Oh, I'd like to pour a lot of tea in
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: the river.
- 1:50:34Speaker 37: Yes. We need more people throwing tea in the harbor.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: We have one minute, Amy. Anything else you'd like to
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: bring up?
- 1:50:42Speaker 37: I just want to encourage people, you know, you've got
- 1:50:44Speaker 37: to bring someone to the polls with you, if it's
- 1:50:46Speaker 37: your child, if it's your spouse, if it's grandma, if
- 1:50:48Speaker 37: it's your neighbor. We really need a big turnout year.
- 1:50:52Speaker 37: You've got to bury the hatchet. We're asking people to
- 1:50:55Speaker 37: vote party lines. As a conservative, I don't often say
- 1:50:58Speaker 37: go bubble in the whole ticket across the ticket, you know,
- 1:51:02Speaker 37: bubble in who you believe in and all that.
- 1:51:05Speaker 53: But this is a.
- 1:51:05Speaker 37: Year that I firmly believe we need to vote Republican
- 1:51:10Speaker 37: across the ticket and turn out in high numbers. And
- 1:51:14Speaker 37: join my page. Follow me on Facebook. Keep the conversation
- 1:51:19Speaker 37: going as we zero in on Election Day. We need
- 1:51:22Speaker 37: to really be driving these issues of why Connecticut is
- 1:51:26Speaker 37: so unaffordable and how long it's been going on to
- 1:51:30Speaker 37: time it so that when people walk in to the polls,
- 1:51:33Speaker 37: they are, you know, they're ticked off. We want people
- 1:51:36Speaker 37: to be ticked off and take it out on the
- 1:51:38Speaker 37: ballot this year.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Thank you for your time this morning, Amy. This is
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: George Agnelli with 94. 9 News Now, stimulating talk, and
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: we're coming back with the myth, the man, the Clark

- 1:52:13Speaker 5: 94.9 News Now.

- 1:52:22Speaker 19: I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. What led to an ICE agent.
- 1:52:24Speaker 39: Shooting that immigrant in Austin, Texas, is under federal investigation.
- 1:52:28Speaker 39: He's now in stable condition in custody. Fox's Griff Jenkins reports.
- 1:52:31Speaker 38: Protesters taking to the streets, causing authorities to deploy tear
- 1:52:35Speaker 38: gas in an attempt to break up the unlawful assembly. Meantime,
- 1:52:39Speaker 38: Texas Democrats are demanding a full investigation while speaking out
- 1:52:43Speaker 38: against the agency.
- 1:52:45Speaker 29: It is awful that this horror has come to Our
- 1:52:49Speaker 29: doorstep for Austin to be safe.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: Ice should. and its surge here in our community.
- 1:52:57Speaker 19: That is Congressman Greg Kassar.
- 1:52:58Speaker 39: The Department of Homeland Security says Wilbur Rafael Garces Perez
- 1:53:01Speaker 39: was a Venezuelan national, came here illegally and had.
- 1:53:04Speaker 19: An order for removal.
- 1:53:05Speaker 39: His family's lawyer disputes that, saying he was here lawfully
- 1:53:09Speaker 39: with a work permit.
- 1:53:10Speaker 19: President Trump will travel this afternoon.
- 1:53:11Speaker 39: To New York City, where he'll meet with Mayor Zoran Mamdani,
- 1:53:15Speaker 39: a Democratic Socialist.
- 1:53:16Speaker 53: It is expected to take place at Gracie Mansion, the
- 1:53:19Speaker 53: mayor's official residence. A very short statement from Mayor Mamdani's
- 1:53:23Speaker 53: office said the two men will focus on issues affecting
- 1:53:27Speaker 53: New York City and New Yorkers. This will be the
- 1:53:30Speaker 53: third meeting between Trump and Mamdani. The previous two have
- 1:53:34Speaker 53: been in the Oval Office.
- 1:53:35Speaker 39: Fox's Grinnell Scott. Tomorrow, President Trump goes to the U.N.,
- 1:53:38Speaker 39: where world leaders will gather.
- 1:53:39Speaker 25: The president will speak at the United Nations General Assembly.
- 1:53:42Speaker 25: On the sidelines, he's expected to meet with golf leaders.
- 1:53:45Speaker 25: Comes as the administration faces continued criticism over Iran and
- 1:53:49Speaker 25: rising prices domestically.
- 1:53:50Speaker 19: The price of oil inched up another penny today.
- 1:53:52Speaker 39: New record high, $ 6.

- 1:53:55Speaker 39: And Fox's Alex Hogan also reports.
- 1:53:57Speaker 25: And also tomorrow, Denmark, Greenland, and the U.S. are set
- 1:54:00Speaker 25: to sign a deal on Greenland's security. This new deal
- 1:54:03Speaker 25: will bolster U.S. capabilities by giving Washington permanent access, basing,
- 1:54:08Speaker 25: and overflight rights. It would also bar adversaries from making
- 1:54:11Speaker 25: investments in Greenland.

- 1:57:31Speaker 1: get him near a debate. Bring to you Ryan Fazio
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: for governor.
- 1:57:38Speaker 41: George, good to be with you this morning.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate this.
- 1:57:44Speaker 4: Well, we're crisscrossing the state, and as you kind of
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: led in with, we just saw a new poll that
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: found that the race is tightened to single digits. But
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: more importantly than that, that the governor's approval rating is
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: and remains below 50%, and the governor remains below 50%
- 1:58:03Speaker 4: in a two-way race. And that's a danger zone for
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: an incumbent because everyone knows who he is. He's been
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: on the job eight years. And it means that we
- 1:58:13Speaker 4: have a competitive race that's up for grabs. And we
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: need to fight every single day in order to get
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: to that 50% mark. People are ready for change. That's
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: what the polling is saying. That's what our progress is
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: saying on the ground.
- 1:58:29Speaker 41: But we need to fight as.
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: Hard as we can to cement that change over the
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: next 45 days.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: Well, there's no question. You know, I mean, I'm out talking.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: I'm out working. You know, owning a business is not
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: the best thing to do. But I ask one simple question.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: Is your life better than it was eight years ago?
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: And nobody is giving me a yes answer. Has your
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: taxes gone down? Has your quality of life gone up?
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: And the answer is no and no. And as these
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: questions keep getting asked, they start looking at me. And
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: the next thing you know, they're starting to research you.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: And then, you know, I have a lot of nurse
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: friends and a lot of them will be at the red,
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: white and blue party. You know, tonight we're going to
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: that party together and your lawn signs will be out.
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: It'll be a wonderful thing. And I know I noticed
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: that you put a bill in that was going to
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: remove fees for nurses. It almost got passed, but it
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: didn't get passed. You want to talk a little bit
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: about that?
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a great example of, you know, a narrow
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: issue that's very important. So Connecticut charges licensing fees to
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: maybe 25 or 30 percent of its entire workforce and
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: forces them to pay a fee to the government to
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: renew their license just for the right to work every year.
- 1:59:44Speaker 4: And for some of our professions, those fees in Connecticut
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: are much higher than other states. I have every single
- 1:59:51Speaker 4: year proposed legislation to cut those licensing fees to zero
- 1:59:55Speaker 4: dollars or a maximum of a hundred dollars per year
- 1:59:58Speaker 4: for people who are licensed to work who are skilled
- 2:00:02Speaker 4: who want to contribute to our state.
- 2:00:04Speaker 41: Economy we should be rolling out the red.
- 2:00:05Speaker 4: Carpet for them we should not be forcing them to
- 2:00:08Speaker 4: pay a fee to the government just for the right
- 2:00:10Speaker 4: to work.
- 2:00:10Speaker 41: Every single year but that's what we.
- 2:00:13Speaker 4: Do in this state so i'm appreciative that some of
- 2:00:16Speaker 4: your nurse friends saw the bill that i i put
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: in uh in that case you know i i would
- 2:00:21Speaker 4: govern the same way that i carried myself in the legislature,
- 2:00:25Speaker 4: which is to be substantive, to focus on the issues,
- 2:00:28Speaker 4: to try to make people's lives better, and.
- 2:00:31Speaker 41: To work extraordinarily hard.
- 2:00:33Speaker 4: And I put in over 60 pieces of legislation in
- 2:00:38Speaker 4: the Senate every year, which I think is a little
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: more than most legislators. But I took my job seriously
- 2:00:44Speaker 4: in trying to propose everything under the sun that can
- 2:00:47Speaker 4: make people's lives better in this great state and it's
- 2:00:50Speaker 4: about time we had a governor who was on his
- 2:00:52Speaker 4: front foot and assertive and tried.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: To do the same right and you know i you
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: know i googled you and you have to turn in
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: your net worth you're an average guy with an above
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: average attitude towards fixing the state of connecticut and that's
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: a nice part you're not some billionaire coming in it's
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: going to help all your buddies make another billion or
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: another two billion or another three billion you're coming in
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: pretty much with a clean slate saying, hey, I'm the guy.
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: I'm just the guy for Connecticut. I'm going to be
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: your leader. And when you look at all the bills
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: you've proposed, a lot of them are all for the
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: basic average person.
- 2:01:28Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely. I think it's really the middle class that's
- 2:01:32Speaker 4: getting crushed in this state. If you're in one of
- 2:01:36Speaker 4: the positions or you work for one of the companies
- 2:01:38Speaker 4: that is supported by the government, you're going to be okay.
- 2:01:42Speaker 4: If you're extraordinarily wealthy, you might unfortunately move to a
- 2:01:46Speaker 4: different state, but you're going to be okay. But for
- 2:01:49Speaker 4: the people who are in the middle who have to
- 2:01:51Speaker 4: work for what they earn and pay taxes and follow
- 2:01:54Speaker 4: the rules, it's almost impossible to live in Connecticut prosperously.
- 2:01:59Speaker 4: And those are the types of people that are leaving
- 2:02:01Speaker 4: our state. And those people deserve better choices. And they
- 2:02:04Speaker 4: deserve better leadership. And they deserve someone in leadership who
- 2:02:07Speaker 4: understands that they deserve better and that Connecticut can do better.
- 2:02:11Speaker 41: And that's why I'm running.
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: And then the other thing we're doing is we're losing
- 2:02:14Speaker 1: a lot of retirees that have that $ 100, 000 in income,
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: but it's only $ 64, 000 here when you take out taxes.
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: And when you go to other states, you know, like Florida,
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: that money becomes more like $ 85, 000. So you have $ 15, 000
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: or $ 20, 000 more to live on, the same amount of money.
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: And it's forcing their hand, especially with the utility rates
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: and all the different things that are happening in Connecticut.
- 2:02:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's exactly right, isn't it? The taxes are middle-class taxes,
- 2:02:43Speaker 4: and they tax everything in this state. They tax everything
- 2:02:46Speaker 4: under the sun. But to your point, it's exactly that
- 2:02:49Speaker 4: type of person.
- 2:02:50Speaker 41: I saw a study a few years ago that said that.
- 2:02:53Speaker 4: The average income of the average person who is moving
- 2:02:56Speaker 4: out of Connecticut is like $ 120, 000, $ 130, 000 per year. So
- 2:02:58Speaker 4: it's a little higher than the average income in our state.
- 2:03:04Speaker 4: Those people are working hard. They're... They're paying their taxes.
- 2:03:09Speaker 4: They're the people you want to stay in this state,
- 2:03:12Speaker 4: and you need to stay in this state in order
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: for our economy to grow. But it's exactly those people
- 2:03:17Speaker 4: that under Governor Lamont have been pushed out and are.
- 2:03:20Speaker 31: Really, really hurting.
- 2:03:21Speaker 41: So we need an eye to policies that will improve
- 2:03:25Speaker 41: their lives, that will make it easier for them to
- 2:03:27Speaker 41: raise a family here, that will make it enticing for
- 2:03:29Speaker 41: them to retire here, and that will reward work. And
- 2:03:33Speaker 41: we're going to do everything.
- 2:03:34Speaker 4: We can to make that happen. This week we're going
- 2:03:37Speaker 4: to release a tax cut plan that will cut their
- 2:03:40Speaker 4: taxes by thousands of dollars. We're going to cut their
- 2:03:43Speaker 4: electric bills by 20 percent. We're going to cut the
- 2:03:45Speaker 4: cap their property taxes. And we're going to bring common
- 2:03:48Speaker 4: sense back to state government so that we don't see
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: corruption run wild and we don't see a party in
- 2:03:53Speaker 4: power that only runs to the far left. That's what
- 2:03:57Speaker 4: we've seen under Governor Lamont. But it's hurting the middle
- 2:04:00Speaker 4: class and it's pushing people out of our state and
- 2:04:02Speaker 4: it needs to end.
- 2:04:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: Oh, there's absolutely no question about it. And do you
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: want to talk a little bit about the gas line
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania? And we're buying our gas from foreign countries.
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: You know, if we ever went to war or there
- 2:04:16Speaker 1: was ever an issue in their country, we'd be in trouble.
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: What are your comments about that?
- 2:04:21Speaker 4: So for your listeners, natural gas is the most important.
- 2:04:26Speaker 4: It's the largest.
- 2:04:27Speaker 41: Share of all the the base load.
- 2:04:30Speaker 4: Electricity production in our state, followed by nuclear, and after
- 2:04:36Speaker 4: that it's probably solar. But there is a bottleneck in
- 2:04:42Speaker 4: natural gas supply in that our natural gas pipelines, our
- 2:04:48Speaker 4: existing natural gas pipelines, which come across New York from
- 2:04:52Speaker 4: Pennsylvania where the natural gas is.
- 2:04:54Speaker 41: Produced, is at a limit. So we can't really.
- 2:04:58Speaker 4: Take in any more when the demand is high. But
- 2:05:01Speaker 4: there's been proposals from companies to expand or build a
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: new natural gas pipeline, which one study from Standard & Poor's,
- 2:05:11Speaker 4: the famous research company, said would lower our energy costs
- 2:05:16Speaker 4: in New England by billions of dollars into the future.
- 2:05:21Speaker 4: The problem is that.
- 2:05:22Speaker 41: The state of New York has up until.
- 2:05:24Speaker 4: Now basically tried to block it. The problem is that
- 2:05:29Speaker 4: New York has also approved natural gas pipeline expansions going
- 2:05:33Speaker 4: into their state. So we have a clear case, I think,
- 2:05:37Speaker 4: of New York basically violating the rights of our state, Connecticut,
- 2:05:42Speaker 4: and New England states writ large by doing something that
- 2:05:46Speaker 4: clearly is meant to punish Connecticut when they're doing the
- 2:05:50Speaker 4: same exact thing. They're approving of the same exact thing
- 2:05:53Speaker 4: that's helping themselves.
- 2:05:54Speaker 41: That's a violation of the U.S.
- 2:05:56Speaker 4: Constitution under the Interstate Commerce Clause. The governor of Connecticut
- 2:06:01Speaker 4: has a responsibility to protect Connecticut residents to fight for affordability,
- 2:06:06Speaker 4: but also to protect their rights under the U.S. Constitution
- 2:06:09Speaker 4: and the Interstate Commerce Clause. The problem is that the
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: governor has not taken a single official step to criticize
- 2:06:16Speaker 4: or to negate what Kathy Hochul in the state of
- 2:06:21Speaker 4: New York is doing to Connecticut residents. Governor Hochul, the
- 2:06:25Speaker 4: state of New York are essentially raising Connecticut's energy costs
- 2:06:29Speaker 4: by billions of dollars into the future. And there has
- 2:06:33Speaker 4: been no steps taken by this governor to fight for Connecticut.
- 2:06:36Speaker 4: I would not only immediately intervene in the federal process,
- 2:06:41Speaker 4: the regulatory process to try to get new energy capacity
- 2:06:45Speaker 4: approved into Connecticut, but I would be prepared for the
- 2:06:48Speaker 4: state of Connecticut to sue the state of New York.
- 2:06:50Speaker 4: And part of the reason not only is that we
- 2:06:53Speaker 4: have the good case, we have the right case on
- 2:06:56Speaker 4: our side. But if one state is in a lawsuit
- 2:07:00Speaker 4: with another under the U.S. Constitution, it has to be
- 2:07:03Speaker 4: resolved directly, immediately by the Supreme Court of the United States.
- 2:07:08Speaker 41: So this is not some lawsuit, some litigation that.
- 2:07:10Speaker 4: Would take years and years to resolve. It could potentially
- 2:07:13Speaker 4: get resolved very quickly, and I think the facts are
- 2:07:16Speaker 4: on our side.
- 2:07:17Speaker 31: And more importantly, if we.
- 2:07:18Speaker 4: Have a governor who's fighting for Connecticut, we could see
- 2:07:21Speaker 4: billions of dollars in lower energy.
- 2:07:24Speaker 6: Costs in the future.
- 2:07:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and what most people don't realize is that 38%
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: of our electricity is produced by natural gas creating it.
- 2:07:33Speaker 1: And so if you can reduce the cost of natural
- 2:07:35Speaker 1: gas by 30%, It will not only help schools and
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: towns and budgets and large manufacturers, it's going to help
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: everybody in the state of Connecticut. That's why it's a
- 2:07:46Speaker 1: billion-dollar issue, because we'll bring down the light bills and
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: the gas bills all in one shot with a simple pipeline.
- 2:07:55Speaker 6: Yep.
- 2:07:55Speaker 4: If you use math, you know, 38% times 30%, you're
- 2:07:59Speaker 4: reducing the total electricity bill by more than 10% if
- 2:08:04Speaker 4: you can substantially lower the cost of natural gas. And
- 2:08:08Speaker 4: the times when the natural gas prices get really expensive
- 2:08:11Speaker 4: and that we're having to pay for it are in
- 2:08:13Speaker 4: the winter and in the summer when people are using
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: the most energy.
- 2:08:16Speaker 10: Right.
- 2:08:18Speaker 41: So you see the.
- 2:08:19Speaker 4: Natural gas price go up, you know, sometimes 300, 400
- 2:08:22Speaker 4: percent in Connecticut because we just don't have enough capacity.
- 2:08:27Speaker 4: But there's plenty of gas in Pennsylvania. We're just not
- 2:08:30Speaker 4: bringing enough to Connecticut. I mean, again, these are the existential,
- 2:08:34Speaker 4: you know, highest order importance issues for the governor of
- 2:08:38Speaker 4: Connecticut to deal with. But this governor is basically asleep
- 2:08:41Speaker 4: at the wheel. He's stuck in neutral at best.
- 2:08:45Speaker 17: But.
- 2:08:46Speaker 4: If he is to make Connecticut's economy work in the future,
- 2:08:49Speaker 4: this is an issue that needs to be solved. And
- 2:08:51Speaker 4: if you have eight years to do it and you
- 2:08:53Speaker 4: don't do it, you know, time's up.
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no question. He's not going to do anything
- 2:08:58Speaker 1: for that. He's just he's not interested. If he was interested,
- 2:09:01Speaker 1: he'd be doing it. But he's going to get your
- 2:09:03Speaker 1: deep boots out, like get your waders to go all
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: the way up to your neck. Like if you were
- 2:09:07Speaker 1: fishing in the river just past Springfield, once they let
- 2:09:11Speaker 1: all the pollution down our river. he's going to have
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: a nuclear summit on the 28th with the other Democratic
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: governors to talk about how they're going to expand nuclear power.
- 2:09:19Speaker 1: Isn't it funny he's doing it like five weeks before
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: the election, and as of six months ago, he wanted
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: to phase out nuclear power?
- 2:09:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and listen, there's been no stronger voice in defense
- 2:09:33Speaker 4: of the nuclear industry, nuclear power, than I have been
- 2:09:38Speaker 4: as a state senator, and I've pushed— the legislature to
- 2:09:41Speaker 4: pass legislation that would be supportive of expanded nuclear capacity.
- 2:09:46Speaker 4: You know, the governor hasn't been horrible on this issue
- 2:09:51Speaker 4: in particular, but when nuclear wasn't as popular a couple
- 2:09:55Speaker 4: of years ago, the governor was basically saying it's Republicans
- 2:09:59Speaker 4: who are pushing nuclear in the state. And now all
- 2:10:02Speaker 4: of a sudden he wants to take credit for it.
- 2:10:04Speaker 8: So he's got to.
- 2:10:05Speaker 4: Keep his story straight. The governor seems to be a
- 2:10:08Speaker 4: friend of nuclear, but, you know, he was criticizing Republicans
- 2:10:11Speaker 4: for supporting it just a couple of years ago. We
- 2:10:14Speaker 4: need someone who's going to keep their story straight at
- 2:10:17Speaker 4: the helm.
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: Well, here's the problem is a 330 Channel 8. They'll
- 2:10:21Speaker 1: do big stories about this nuclear summit, but they're not
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: going to produce the truth. That's the biggest problem. He's
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: doing it as a political grandstand. That's all it really
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: is because nothing's going to happen. And nothing's going to
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: happen in the future because he's already showing you what
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: he expects. He says, oh, you guys can just afford
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: to pay a little bit more. Ah, you can just
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: pay a little bit more. Not a big deal.
- 2:10:46Speaker 4: Then there's nothing actionable there. You know, they could do
- 2:10:52Speaker 4: a summit. They could do a meeting. They could talk
- 2:10:53Speaker 4: about what policies and make things better versus worse. But
- 2:10:57Speaker 4: It's probably not going to affect power prices in 10 years,
- 2:11:00Speaker 4: anything they're talking about there, whereas fighting New York to
- 2:11:04Speaker 4: expand natural gas capacity, whereas reducing the hidden taxes and
- 2:11:08Speaker 4: fees in your electric bill, you could get actionable improvement.
- 2:11:11Speaker 1: You could get.
- 2:11:12Speaker 4: Lower energy costs pretty quickly. If you start dealing with
- 2:11:16Speaker 4: some of these hidden taxes and fees, you could provide
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: energy relief immediately. The governor has that option. He's not
- 2:11:23Speaker 4: undertaking it because it doesn't fit kind of his ideological
- 2:11:26Speaker 4: worldview where the government should be imposing all these taxes
- 2:11:29Speaker 4: and fees on the middle class in order to fund
- 2:11:31Speaker 4: whatever kind of grand schemes they have. But Connecticut has
- 2:11:35Speaker 4: tried that over and over again, and the consequences that
- 2:11:39Speaker 4: we live in one of the highest taxed, most unaffordable
- 2:11:42Speaker 4: states in the country. And it's about time we change direction.
- 2:11:46Speaker 4: That's the only way we can start to make the
- 2:11:48Speaker 4: state affordable and bring opportunity back.
- 2:11:51Speaker 1: I'm hoping for my kids and my future grandkids so
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: that they'll stay in the state of Connecticut, that you
- 2:11:57Speaker 1: can do this, because this is really an important issue.
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: Everything's an important issue. We're just so far to the
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: wrong in the state of Connecticut. And, you know, our
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: attorney general, I know they're saying now has sued Trump
- 2:12:09Speaker 1: 70 times. I mean, how much money have we spent
- 2:12:14Speaker 1: on lawsuits? And, you know, he says his DTS is.
- 2:12:17Speaker 1: 12 on a 1 to 10 scale. He called it
- 2:12:20Speaker 1: a 12 on Gary's show. And when you look at
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: these things and how much money we're spending on frivolous lawsuits,
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: we're not paying attention to all the nonprofits that are
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: just burning through state money, and it's not going to
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: the people it's supposed to go to.
- 2:12:36Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 2:12:36Speaker 4: That's exactly right. Listen, I can't understand why the governor
- 2:12:42Speaker 4: hasn't been running for a third term. He hasn't said
- 2:12:45Speaker 4: what he's going to try to accomplish, what relief he
- 2:12:48Speaker 4: would provide citizens. Everyone in the state understands that it's
- 2:12:52Speaker 4: too high tax, that there's too much corruption and that
- 2:12:55Speaker 4: we're paying for it, that there's too much power held
- 2:12:58Speaker 4: in the hands of bureaucrats and politicians in the state capitol.
- 2:13:02Speaker 4: But there is absolutely no plan, no vision for this
- 2:13:06Speaker 4: governor to improve things, to bring opportunity back to our state,
- 2:13:11Speaker 4: to provide relief to our residents. There's no promise. There's
- 2:13:14Speaker 4: no ambition for a third term here. I guess it's
- 2:13:18Speaker 4: just more of the same. That's one of the things
- 2:13:20Speaker 4: that on a human level, you know, away from the
- 2:13:23Speaker 4: campaign trail, I can't really understand. I don't really understand
- 2:13:27Speaker 4: what the governor wants to do with the third term,
- 2:13:29Speaker 4: what he thinks he can make better with the third term,
- 2:13:31Speaker 4: you know, what he's actually trying to deliver to people.
- 2:13:35Speaker 4: It's just more of the same.
- 2:13:37Speaker 1: Well, I think he needs a third term to cover,
- 2:13:39Speaker 1: to figure out how to make things disappear that he
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: did in the first and second term for his record.
- 2:13:44Speaker 1: You know, when you look at Des Montes, you look
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: at New Beginnings, you look at McCrory, the senator out
- 2:13:51Speaker 1: of Bloomfield, that he didn't even sanction the gentleman for
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: misappropriating state funds, and he's in a federal indictment. He
- 2:13:58Speaker 1: didn't even come out and make a statement about it.
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: He let him keep all his leadership roles and everything else.
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: He didn't say, oh, hey, I think it's time you
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: step down. I think it's time you do something different.
- 2:14:07Speaker 1: And he knew the corruption's going on. He knew the
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: corruption was— he had a letter saying that we should stop
- 2:14:12Speaker 1: giving New Beginnings— and now the state has had to
- 2:14:16Speaker 1: get involved, and they were giving money to pay people's
- 2:14:19Speaker 1: light bills, and they gave them a check for like $ 1. 5
- 2:14:22Speaker 1: million for $ 1. 2 million in light bills, and then they
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: bounced the check to the light company, and that's when
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: finally somebody actually had to do something about it. And
- 2:14:32Speaker 1: for eight years, auditors were telling him, hey, you've got
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: problems here.
- 2:14:37Speaker 49: Yeah.
- 2:14:38Speaker 4: The level of corruption that's proliferated under this governor's You know,
- 2:14:44Speaker 4: eventually the people in charge have to take responsibility. And
- 2:14:47Speaker 4: it's because this governor has an entirely laissez-faire attitude towards
- 2:14:52Speaker 4: the goings-on in government and what has become a very
- 2:14:56Speaker 4: corrupt state government. You know, there are people in the
- 2:15:00Speaker 4: leadership of this state who, you know, gain profit from
- 2:15:04Speaker 4: their power. And that should never be what government is.
- 2:15:08Speaker 4: But it has been for far too long in this state.
- 2:15:10Speaker 4: And the governor's in charge. The governor has responsibility. The
- 2:15:14Speaker 4: buck doesn't stop somewhere else. The buck stops with the governor.
- 2:15:18Speaker 4: And so, you know, when Doug McCrory, a state senator,
- 2:15:24Speaker 4: you know, is being actively investigated by the federal government
- 2:15:27Speaker 4: for potentially stealing millions of dollars, the governor's attitude is
- 2:15:30Speaker 4: kind of hands off when, you know, it's brought up that,
- 2:15:36Speaker 4: Costa Diamantis, who is convicted of bribery charges at the
- 2:15:41Speaker 4: federal level, was promoted and only put in that position
- 2:15:45Speaker 4: because Governor Lamont gave him a promotion. You know, there's
- 2:15:49Speaker 4: not an accounting for, you know, whether he's responsible or
- 2:15:53Speaker 4: why he gave him a promotion in the first place.
- 2:15:56Speaker 4: You know, there's been, I think, over a half dozen
- 2:15:58Speaker 4: senior Democratic officials in state government arrested since Governor Lamont
- 2:16:03Speaker 4: has been in office. And That just signals to me
- 2:16:06Speaker 4: that there's a culture of tolerance of corruption and that
- 2:16:09Speaker 4: there isn't zero tolerance. There isn't high standards and accountability
- 2:16:14Speaker 4: for people and their allies in state government. We need
- 2:16:17Speaker 4: to have a zero tolerance approach. We need to have
- 2:16:20Speaker 4: a governor who's willing to call out a Democrat or
- 2:16:23Speaker 4: a Republican when they take advantage of the public trust.
- 2:16:26Speaker 4: Nobody is above reproach. In my eyes, everyone should be
- 2:16:30Speaker 4: held to the same standard, and we need to have
- 2:16:32Speaker 4: the highest of standards for people in leadership in this state.
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: I 100% agree with you. I mean, if you look
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: at we have a CCSU president that they hired that
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: was supposed to move here. And they fired him because
- 2:16:46Speaker 1: he was using a company credit card like it was
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: his own state credit card, like his own personal. And
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: he never moved to the state of Connecticut. Yet we're
- 2:16:53Speaker 1: still paying him a half a million dollars a year
- 2:16:55Speaker 1: plus benefits to stay in the state of New York.
- 2:16:58Speaker 1: Why is he getting paid? He violated the contract. You know,
- 2:17:02Speaker 1: I mean, again. This all goes to– and I know
- 2:17:05Speaker 1: it's only a half a million dollars when you look
- 2:17:07Speaker 1: at the time, but it's a half a million here.
- 2:17:08Speaker 1: It's a million and a half over here. It's a
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: million over there. It's a million– next thing you know,
- 2:17:12Speaker 1: it's $ 40, $ 50, $ 60 million that could have really gone
- 2:17:15Speaker 1: to the good of the people, the citizens of the
- 2:17:19Speaker 1: United States and the citizens of Connecticut who they swore
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: to take an oath for that they said that they're
- 2:17:25Speaker 1: there to protect the citizens. And unfortunately, they're not protecting us.
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: They're not even looking out for us. And they're like, oh,
- 2:17:32Speaker 1: that's just small potatoes. That's just small potatoes. That's just
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: small potatoes. Well, pretty soon you're going to need a
- 2:17:38Speaker 1: small potato bowl the size of New Haven for all
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: these small potatoes that they have going wrong.
- 2:17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's, you know, for people listening to George,
- 2:17:48Speaker 4: that is actually what the governor, said. The governor called
- 2:17:51Speaker 4: the corruption small ball, you know, that it wasn't that important.
- 2:17:55Speaker 4: But I think the public trust is enormously important. And,
- 2:17:59Speaker 4: you know, you bring up the CCSU scandal. It's impossible
- 2:18:03Speaker 4: for any single person to remember all the scandals at
- 2:18:06Speaker 4: the top of their mind. when they're reciting them. I
- 2:18:09Speaker 4: joked at my press conference where I laid out a
- 2:18:11Speaker 4: very clear anti-corruption agenda.
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: Yes, Brian, we have to take a quick break now

- 2:27:51Speaker 1: Good morning. This is George Agnelli with 94.9 News Now
- 2:27:54Speaker 1: and Stimulating Talk. And I have got the privilege of
- 2:27:58Speaker 1: bringing you the next governor of the state of Connecticut
- 2:28:01Speaker 1: with us for this hour. We have a half hour
- 2:28:03Speaker 1: left and I there's just so much corruption to talk
- 2:28:07Speaker 1: about with this governor. We're going to talk about it
- 2:28:09Speaker 1: for a few minutes more and then we're going to
- 2:28:11Speaker 1: go into what Ryan's going to do for us as
- 2:28:14Speaker 1: the state of Connecticut and the promises he's making to you. Ryan,
- 2:28:19Speaker 1: we're paying two or three, maybe four presidents, who knows,
- 2:28:24Speaker 1: of CCSU, and I think the number's like $ 1. 2 million
- 2:28:28Speaker 1: a year plus benefits, and they no longer work for
- 2:28:30Speaker 1: us because of either a sexual harassment lawsuit or using
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: our government credit card to buy stakes and airline tickets
- 2:28:39Speaker 1: and everything else, and they're making a half a million
- 2:28:41Speaker 1: dollars a year.
- 2:28:43Speaker 18: What is it?
- 2:28:45Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 2:28:46Speaker 4: Listen, what does it say to taxpayers? What does it
- 2:28:49Speaker 4: say to other public employees that you could be engaged
- 2:28:56Speaker 4: in stealing money from the state and using your public
- 2:29:00Speaker 4: credit cards for personal items, for accused of credibly mistreating
- 2:29:07Speaker 4: your employees, and as a consequence, you end up with
- 2:29:11Speaker 4: a golden parachute, hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay
- 2:29:14Speaker 4: without any responsibilities. There's never going to be accountability in
- 2:29:18Speaker 4: state government if that level of corruption is allowed to persist.
- 2:29:22Speaker 4: And yet it has been allowed to persist under this governor.
- 2:29:25Speaker 41: That's why I say that we're paying.
- 2:29:27Speaker 4: A corruption tax in the state of Connecticut, where with
- 2:29:31Speaker 4: all the corruption that's condoned, with all the misbehavior that
- 2:29:36Speaker 4: is allowed to continue without any.
- 2:29:39Speaker 41: Sort of.
- 2:29:41Speaker 4: Negative consequences for the perpetrators, you can expect that services
- 2:29:46Speaker 4: at the state level will be diminished and that the
- 2:29:48Speaker 4: cost to the taxpayer will continue to increase. It's common sense,
- 2:29:52Speaker 4: and yet the governor, by being asleep at the wheel,
- 2:29:56Speaker 4: is basically diminishing your level of services and increasing the
- 2:30:00Speaker 4: taxes that you have to pay. You know, when a
- 2:30:02Speaker 4: guy who's getting paid $ 400, 000, like Chancellor Chang was, can
- 2:30:07Speaker 4: spend tens of thousands of dollars on steak and entertainment
- 2:30:11Speaker 4: and other personal spending, and then as a consequence gets
- 2:30:15Speaker 4: to sit in an office for the next two years
- 2:30:17Speaker 4: without any real work and continues to get paid $ 400, 000,
- 2:30:21Speaker 4: the fact that you wouldn't just fire someone like that
- 2:30:25Speaker 4: out of hand is just such malpractice on the part
- 2:30:30Speaker 4: of the governor and the leadership of the state government
- 2:30:32Speaker 4: that no wonder we continue to see instances of corruption.
- 2:30:36Speaker 4: Because no one is being held accountable to the point
- 2:30:39Speaker 4: that they should.
- 2:30:40Speaker 1: And then the other thing is that his contract specifically
- 2:30:43Speaker 1: states he must move to Connecticut for this job. And
- 2:30:47Speaker 1: he's not even, as far as I know and what
- 2:30:49Speaker 1: I can do the research, he's not even, he's still
- 2:30:52Speaker 1: a New York resident paying New York taxes with our money.
- 2:30:55Speaker 4: Remember, he was tasked, after he was relieved of his
- 2:30:59Speaker 4: duties as chancellor and he was put into that rubber
- 2:31:02Speaker 4: room where he would get paid $ 400, 000 per year. He
- 2:31:06Speaker 4: was given one task, which was write a review of
- 2:31:09Speaker 4: how the university operates and how it should operate, as
- 2:31:12Speaker 4: this guy would be a credible source into answering those questions.
- 2:31:16Speaker 4: It was a 1,000-page report that was found to be
- 2:31:19Speaker 4: mostly done with AI, and he spent most of his time,
- 2:31:24Speaker 4: according to FOIs of his own email account, looking for
- 2:31:28Speaker 4: other jobs. He couldn't be fired for cause. We couldn't
- 2:31:32Speaker 4: stop payment. I mean, the state of Connecticut's taxpayers are
- 2:31:35Speaker 4: forced to pay this guy sitting in a room looking
- 2:31:38Speaker 4: for other work and asking AI to generate all of
- 2:31:42Speaker 4: his homework. It's an absolute joke. It sounds like I'm
- 2:31:46Speaker 4: making it up.
- 2:31:47Speaker 41: But this has kind of become commonplace.
- 2:31:49Speaker 4: Under Governor Lamont in Connecticut. He isn't holding people who
- 2:31:52Speaker 4: are bad actors accountable. And what's that do to the
- 2:31:55Speaker 4: state workers, the state employees who are good actors who
- 2:31:58Speaker 4: want to contribute? It demoralizes them more than anyone else.
- 2:32:02Speaker 4: This is just a crisis of leadership that we face
- 2:32:04Speaker 4: in this state. The fish are out from the head,
- 2:32:07Speaker 4: and that's exactly what we're seeing now.
- 2:32:09Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mean, you look at some of the
- 2:32:10Speaker 1: things that are out there, and it says 40% of
- 2:32:13Speaker 1: the state's programs or budgets, you know, like Department of Education,
- 2:32:19Speaker 1: hasn't turned in an audit in 15 years. We don't
- 2:32:22Speaker 1: know where the computers are, the smart cards are. They
- 2:32:24Speaker 1: might be in Tennessee, for all we know. And as
- 2:32:28Speaker 1: you look at these audits that aren't being done, you
- 2:32:30Speaker 1: wonder if somebody ever actually looks at the credit cards
- 2:32:33Speaker 1: they're paying, or do they just pay it? When's the
- 2:32:35Speaker 1: last time personal state credit cards have been audited to
- 2:32:39Speaker 1: make sure there's not personal stuff on there? I mean,
- 2:32:43Speaker 1: if he's getting away with it, everybody's getting away with it.
- 2:32:47Speaker 4: There are many more people getting away with it. Exactly right.
- 2:32:50Speaker 4: And there's just, you know, the lights are on, but
- 2:32:52Speaker 4: there's no one home. You know, Department of Education hasn't
- 2:32:56Speaker 4: performed an audit in over a decade. You know, what
- 2:32:58Speaker 4: is the Department of Education doing?
- 2:33:00Speaker 41: Because we've actually seen them make, you know, decisions.
- 2:33:03Speaker 4: That restrict the ability of students to access a great
- 2:33:06Speaker 4: education system. They've been engaged in trying to regulate homeschoolers
- 2:33:11Speaker 4: in the last year. There's been no effort from the
- 2:33:14Speaker 4: Department of Education to have a mission to improve outcomes
- 2:33:18Speaker 4: for students. And you've actually seen test scores fall overall
- 2:33:21Speaker 4: since Governor Lamont has been in charge of the state government.
- 2:33:24Speaker 4: So what are these people doing if they're not at
- 2:33:27Speaker 4: least auditing themselves and protecting taxpayers? Because I don't see
- 2:33:31Speaker 4: any other leadership coming out of so many of these departments. Again,
- 2:33:35Speaker 4: there is just a total vacuum of leadership here. in
- 2:33:37Speaker 4: the state of Connecticut and the state government. There is
- 2:33:40Speaker 4: no mission to significantly improve services or reduce costs. And
- 2:33:46Speaker 4: that's why you see the Chancellor Chang scandals of the
- 2:33:49Speaker 4: world proliferate with little to no consequence for the perpetrators.
- 2:33:55Speaker 1: Well, they also, you know, I was reading an article
- 2:33:56Speaker 1: the other day that says of the $ 8 billion of
- 2:34:01Speaker 1: things that we've purchased, 2.8 billion of them are not
- 2:34:04Speaker 1: accounted for, cars, vehicles, trucks, you know, because these audits
- 2:34:10Speaker 1: aren't being done. So we don't know where all these
- 2:34:12Speaker 1: computers are or they're being bought, if they're even going
- 2:34:15Speaker 1: to where they're supposed to go, because there's no audit
- 2:34:17Speaker 1: to tell us, yes, we bought 33 computers for this
- 2:34:23Speaker 1: office and they have 25. Well, what happened to eight
- 2:34:25Speaker 1: of them? Did the 33 even go to that or
- 2:34:29Speaker 1: were they sold on a black market? We have no auditing.
- 2:34:33Speaker 1: I mean, we have a governor that is just completely clueless,
- 2:34:36Speaker 1: and then he keeps saying, it's small ball, it's small ball,
- 2:34:39Speaker 1: it's small ball. Well, that small ball is adding up
- 2:34:42Speaker 1: to about 150 runs. That's exactly right.
- 2:34:47Speaker 4: The small ball continues to add up to the point
- 2:34:50Speaker 4: that we have the highest taxes in the country, that
- 2:34:53Speaker 4: we see so much... corruption in the news, that we're
- 2:34:57Speaker 4: becoming numb to it. But we shouldn't become numb to it.
- 2:34:59Speaker 4: We should have higher expectations in this for our great state.
- 2:35:04Speaker 4: And we should just simply not settle for, you know,
- 2:35:07Speaker 4: corruption scandal after corruption scandal. I mean, the guy who
- 2:35:12Speaker 4: fled to Greece was only put in a position of
- 2:35:16Speaker 4: power and influence over hundreds of millions of dollars of
- 2:35:19Speaker 4: state spending because the governor gave him a promotion. You know,
- 2:35:23Speaker 4: it's not like this guy, you know, appeared.
- 2:35:25Speaker 41: Out of thin air in the state government.
- 2:35:28Speaker 4: It's not as if this was a low-level actor in
- 2:35:30Speaker 4: state government. This was someone who was promoted by the
- 2:35:32Speaker 4: governor himself and put into a position of power to
- 2:35:35Speaker 4: steal money from the taxpayer. Again, there's, you know, if
- 2:35:39Speaker 4: there was one or two incidents that were, maybe you
- 2:35:43Speaker 4: could call it a small ball, but when you're talking
- 2:35:45Speaker 4: about instance after instance, hundreds or tens of millions of
- 2:35:49Speaker 4: dollars stolen from the taxpayer, This is adding up to
- 2:35:53Speaker 4: a trend that is flourishing under this governor's watch.
- 2:35:59Speaker 1: I believe, and I'm not sure if I'm– because we
- 2:36:02Speaker 1: don't talk before we go. The knowledge you have is amazing.
- 2:36:07Speaker 1: There was another senator or house member that steered millions
- 2:36:13Speaker 1: of dollars to some nonprofits, and then he was the
- 2:36:17Speaker 1: only contractor– doing the cleaning and the landscaping of these
- 2:36:21Speaker 1: companies for like $ 800, 000, and there was no competitive bid.
- 2:36:25Speaker 1: And I can't remember the gentleman's name. And there was
- 2:36:27Speaker 1: no competitive bid, but yet he's using his power as
- 2:36:30Speaker 1: a legislator to steer money to these companies. And then
- 2:36:33Speaker 1: the two companies that he set up don't even have
- 2:36:35Speaker 1: websites that they offer services to anyone else. And I
- 2:36:41Speaker 1: don't know if you know about that, but I think
- 2:36:43Speaker 1: that was breaking about a week ago. They were going
- 2:36:45Speaker 1: to start talking about it.
- 2:36:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't remember exactly which one that is
- 2:36:50Speaker 4: because I can't even keep track of all the instances
- 2:36:52Speaker 4: of corruption in our state government. And if you had
- 2:36:54Speaker 4: a case like that, you know, it should be the
- 2:36:58Speaker 4: top priority of the state government to make sure that
- 2:37:00Speaker 4: the state government is beyond reproach. The governor should say,
- 2:37:05Speaker 4: I don't know exactly what's happening here, but we should
- 2:37:07Speaker 4: get to the bottom of it. Instead, this is an
- 2:37:09Speaker 4: instance because you're dealing with a Democratic official where they're
- 2:37:13Speaker 4: going to want it ignored. They're not going to want
- 2:37:15Speaker 4: to confront it.
- 2:37:16Speaker 41: But, you know... I don't know why you would want to.
- 2:37:19Speaker 4: Be governor if you are not going to assertively try
- 2:37:22Speaker 4: to act in the public's interest and improve the services
- 2:37:27Speaker 4: and the integrity of our state government, which is so important.
- 2:37:30Speaker 15: Lacking.
- 2:37:30Speaker 4: You know, we have, you know, there's Republican legislators who,
- 2:37:36Speaker 4: if they, through their work for a company, you know,
- 2:37:40Speaker 4: see a potential conflict of interest, not even a conflict
- 2:37:42Speaker 4: of interest in casting a single vote, they will recuse
- 2:37:46Speaker 4: themselves from voting voting. But on the Democratic side, you
- 2:37:50Speaker 4: have people in charge of, you know, the unions whose
- 2:37:54Speaker 4: contracts come up for a vote, and they vote on
- 2:37:57Speaker 4: the bill despite the conflict of interest. Whether you're for
- 2:38:00Speaker 4: or against the actual policy, it shouldn't matter. You should
- 2:38:04Speaker 4: want to be above reproach in any way and to
- 2:38:07Speaker 4: have total, you know, total removal from any conflict of
- 2:38:13Speaker 4: interest And yet it's almost a thumb in the eye
- 2:38:16Speaker 4: of the taxpayer in this state that the people in
- 2:38:20Speaker 4: charge of our state government are willing to blatantly and
- 2:38:24Speaker 4: flagrantly act in a way that is, I would say,
- 2:38:29Speaker 4: compromised at best.
- 2:38:31Speaker 11: Yes.
- 2:38:31Speaker 1: Well, you know, the same thing. A different lifetime ago,
- 2:38:34Speaker 1: I was on the city council in East Hartford back
- 2:38:37Speaker 1: in the early 90s. And I had a very good
- 2:38:40Speaker 1: rapport with the manager of the Showcase Cinemas. And before
- 2:38:45Speaker 1: I was in office, he always would say, hey, come
- 2:38:47Speaker 1: see this show, come see this show, come see this show.
- 2:38:49Speaker 1: And after office, he goes, hey, come see this show.
- 2:38:51Speaker 1: I said, only if I pay, because I can't go
- 2:38:54Speaker 1: and do something for free when you're in our tax
- 2:38:56Speaker 1: base and somewhere where I could be voting on legislation
- 2:39:00Speaker 1: for you. And that's something you have to hold. You
- 2:39:02Speaker 1: have to hold yourself accountable first. You have to have
- 2:39:04Speaker 1: respect for yourself and when you don't have respect for
- 2:39:08Speaker 1: the people around you and the people that are the
- 2:39:12Speaker 1: ones that are actually electing you, this will happen. There's
- 2:39:15Speaker 1: so much corruption circling over this governor's head. And I
- 2:39:20Speaker 1: don't want to call out my former other or other
- 2:39:23Speaker 1: talk shows, but if any of these investigative reporters started
- 2:39:27Speaker 1: really investigating this stuff, you would fall off your chair
- 2:39:30Speaker 1: what they would really find the amount of, things that
- 2:39:33Speaker 1: are wrong and i just how about just audit the
- 2:39:35Speaker 1: credit cards how about saying well hey if if the
- 2:39:38Speaker 1: chancellor's doing wrong with a credit card why a chancellor
- 2:39:40Speaker 1: has a credit card he's not supposed to be handling
- 2:39:42Speaker 1: money uh for for he shouldn't even be in charge
- 2:39:45Speaker 1: of money for this he's supposed to be there to
- 2:39:47Speaker 1: run the college to make it the best college possible
- 2:39:50Speaker 1: not to have it why does he have a credit
- 2:39:52Speaker 1: card that's what i that's what i can't even understand
- 2:39:55Speaker 1: you know doesn't he have a controller doesn't isn't there
- 2:39:58Speaker 1: isn't there an accounting firm that handles it isn't there
- 2:40:01Speaker 1: a You know, somebody in the state college system that's
- 2:40:04Speaker 1: handling the money in and out?
- 2:40:07Speaker 4: You'd think the comptroller would be in charge of that, but,
- 2:40:10Speaker 4: you know, any executive in business that I've dealt with,
- 2:40:15Speaker 4: you front purchases if there's travel or anything like that,
- 2:40:20Speaker 4: and you get reimbursed for it. You don't have your
- 2:40:22Speaker 4: own credit card. Only someone who's involved in kind of
- 2:40:26Speaker 4: the day-to-day purchasing for a department for an organization would
- 2:40:30Speaker 4: have a credit card. for that organization. The executive, the
- 2:40:36Speaker 4: management of that organization should not have a credit card
- 2:40:39Speaker 4: because it's ripe for abuse. But we've never had a
- 2:40:41Speaker 4: policy on these things at the state level. As you said,
- 2:40:45Speaker 4: when you go into these offices, you need a mindset.
- 2:40:48Speaker 4: You need to tell yourself ahead of time that I
- 2:40:50Speaker 4: am here to help the public. I'm not here to
- 2:40:52Speaker 4: serve myself. But clearly that is not a mindset that
- 2:40:57Speaker 4: permeates the leadership of the state government where they remind
- 2:41:01Speaker 4: themselves every day. They know why they're there, and they're
- 2:41:03Speaker 4: there to serve others, not serve themselves.
- 2:41:06Speaker 8: Yes.
- 2:41:06Speaker 1: No, I once sold a building in East Hartford, and
- 2:41:10Speaker 1: it had some office building, state of Connecticut employees. And
- 2:41:14Speaker 1: I went in, you know, I'm showing the space. It
- 2:41:17Speaker 1: had like 33 employees. There was a girl there answering
- 2:41:20Speaker 1: the phone. There was never, every time I showed that building,
- 2:41:23Speaker 1: there was never one person. And she goes, oh, everybody
- 2:41:25Speaker 1: works from home. I said, what do you mean everybody
- 2:41:28Speaker 1: works from home? I mean, it just doesn't make any
- 2:41:31Speaker 1: sense that everybody's working from home in an office. How
- 2:41:33Speaker 1: are you getting anything done? How are you talking to
- 2:41:37Speaker 1: your neighbor next door in the cubicle to say, hey,
- 2:41:40Speaker 1: I got this issue. How would you handle it? Or
- 2:41:42Speaker 1: how would you make it better? I don't think those
- 2:41:45Speaker 1: people even worked for the state of Connecticut. They were
- 2:41:47Speaker 1: just doing other jobs and just not being there, doing
- 2:41:51Speaker 1: other work on their time. It was just craziness.
- 2:41:56Speaker 4: No, and the fact that so many of the public
- 2:41:59Speaker 4: employees are only having to work one day a week
- 2:42:02Speaker 4: in person from the office, you know, on top of
- 2:42:05Speaker 4: getting four and a half percent raises year over year.
- 2:42:07Speaker 4: You know, there needs to be some standards and some
- 2:42:10Speaker 4: accountability and you just simply cannot deliver the highest quality
- 2:42:14Speaker 4: of product while being in an office, you know, just
- 2:42:17Speaker 4: one day per week. Younger employees cannot build their skills
- 2:42:21Speaker 4: and teams cannot develop if you're in the office one.
- 2:42:23Speaker 41: Day per week, you know, Guess what?
- 2:42:26Speaker 4: This is also a matter of life and death because
- 2:42:29Speaker 4: the Department of Child and Family Services, you know, has
- 2:42:32Speaker 4: presided over the deaths of over 20 children over just
- 2:42:35Speaker 4: the last couple of years. And their workers are, in
- 2:42:39Speaker 4: many cases, just required to be in person talking about
- 2:42:42Speaker 4: these important issues, coordinating about these important issues only one
- 2:42:45Speaker 4: day per week. You know, this is just not acceptable.
- 2:42:49Speaker 4: But this is symptomatic of a governor... Vermont administration that
- 2:42:54Speaker 4: just is absent from providing leadership and vision and accountability
- 2:42:58Speaker 4: to our own state government.
- 2:43:00Speaker 1: We're getting down to our last like six minutes before
- 2:43:02Speaker 1: we have to go to commercial break and they're going
- 2:43:04Speaker 1: to kick me off the radio, although I could stay
- 2:43:06Speaker 1: all day if they would allow me. We're going to
- 2:43:10Speaker 1: see you tonight, the red, white, and blue. We're going
- 2:43:12Speaker 1: to have lawn signs there. Your campaign manager said she
- 2:43:15Speaker 1: will have plenty of lawn signs if anybody wants to
- 2:43:17Speaker 1: come by. And if you don't want to come to
- 2:43:18Speaker 1: the event and you want to pick up a lawn sign,
- 2:43:20Speaker 1: we'll be at the red, white, and blue party at
- 2:43:22Speaker 1: Water's Edge at 1525 Boston Post Road. And Gary and
- 2:43:27Speaker 1: I and Lee run this party, and we're actually going
- 2:43:29Speaker 1: to let Ryan have a microphone for 10 minutes and
- 2:43:31Speaker 1: break our rules on speaking because we just feel this
- 2:43:34Speaker 1: election is so important. let's take the next seven or
- 2:43:38Speaker 1: eight minutes or whatever we have left and talk about
- 2:43:40Speaker 1: all the positive things you're going to do for the
- 2:43:42Speaker 1: people of the state of Connecticut.
- 2:43:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and I appreciate that, George, because we spend a
- 2:43:48Speaker 4: lot of the time criticizing the leadership of this governor,
- 2:43:51Speaker 4: and it's valid because the governor has allowed corruption to
- 2:43:54Speaker 4: run rampant, and he's raised costs and made Connecticut one
- 2:43:57Speaker 4: of the most unaffordable states. states in the entire country.
- 2:44:00Speaker 4: But we also need leadership that is going to provide
- 2:44:03Speaker 4: vision and an actual path to a better future in
- 2:44:07Speaker 4: the state. So first and foremost, I'm going to deliver
- 2:44:10Speaker 4: the largest middle class tax cut in state history. We're
- 2:44:13Speaker 4: going to cut taxes by thousands of dollars to the
- 2:44:16Speaker 4: average family in my first term. That can be done
- 2:44:20Speaker 4: by reducing wasteful spending and politically ideologically oriented spending, like
- 2:44:25Speaker 4: taxpayer benefits for people who aren't in the like over-budgeting
- 2:44:31Speaker 4: for various government departments and more. We're going to reduce
- 2:44:35Speaker 4: the general growth rate of government spending because government shouldn't
- 2:44:38Speaker 4: be growing faster than people's paychecks are growing or faster
- 2:44:42Speaker 4: than inflation is growing. And finally, we need to reduce
- 2:44:45Speaker 4: the special interest carve-outs in the tax code. Everything from
- 2:44:49Speaker 4: special tax exemptions that the governor supported for data centers
- 2:44:53Speaker 4: and more.
- 2:44:53Speaker 6: If we do those things, we.
- 2:44:55Speaker 4: Can provide billions of dollars of tax relief the middle-class
- 2:44:58Speaker 4: families who are struggling in this state and deserve real
- 2:45:02Speaker 4: long-term tax relief. Second, we're going to cap property taxes
- 2:45:06Speaker 4: in the state, stop them from spiraling out of control
- 2:45:09Speaker 4: as they have. We can do that by eliminating hundreds
- 2:45:12Speaker 4: of the unfunded state mandates on our towns and cities
- 2:45:16Speaker 4: that the state has imposed. These unfunded mandates are, you know,
- 2:45:21Speaker 4: there's so many of them, it's literally death by a
- 2:45:24Speaker 4: thousand paper cuts, but basically it's instances of the state
- 2:45:27Speaker 4: government telling towns and cities what they need to do
- 2:45:31Speaker 4: without giving them the funding to do it. And that's
- 2:45:33Speaker 4: what causes your property taxes to go up. And this
- 2:45:36Speaker 4: governor has signed into law over 100 new laws that
- 2:45:40Speaker 4: increase the number of those unfunded mandates even more, forcing
- 2:45:43Speaker 4: towns to raise your property taxes. That's a problem. We
- 2:45:47Speaker 4: will end hundreds of those unfunded mandates to ensure that
- 2:45:50Speaker 4: towns have their reasonable, predictable share of funding and cap
- 2:45:55Speaker 4: property taxes into the future. We're going to cut electric
- 2:45:59Speaker 4: bills by 20% by eliminating every hidden tax and fee
- 2:46:03Speaker 4: in those electric bills and bringing in new forms of
- 2:46:06Speaker 4: affordable power that we talked about earlier through pipeline capacity
- 2:46:11Speaker 4: or otherwise. You shouldn't have to pay taxes to the
- 2:46:15Speaker 4: government through your electric bill every month as a matter
- 2:46:18Speaker 4: of course, whether it's the hidden fees in your supply charge,
- 2:46:22Speaker 4: whether it's the public benefits charge, we can end those
- 2:46:25Speaker 4: things and make energy more affordable in this state.
- 2:46:28Speaker 41: And finally, you know, we need common sense back at.
- 2:46:31Speaker 4: The state level. This governor has chosen ideology and hyper
- 2:46:35Speaker 4: partisanship over kind of common sense and balance over at
- 2:46:39Speaker 4: every turn. He's basically run open arms to the far
- 2:46:44Speaker 4: left of this party in the last couple of years. Um,
- 2:46:49Speaker 4: He's embraced some of the most radical ideas in our country,
- 2:46:53Speaker 4: including when he tried to ban the sale of gasoline-powered
- 2:46:57Speaker 4: vehicles in the state of Connecticut, which I stood up
- 2:47:00Speaker 4: to him on and which he ultimately failed to do.
- 2:47:04Speaker 41: When, similarly, he paroled.
- 2:47:07Speaker 4: Over 44 convicted murderers in this state. Now, this is
- 2:47:11Speaker 4: not a governor who is trying to find common ground.
- 2:47:14Speaker 4: This is a governor who has embraced, you know, to overpracticality.
- 2:47:20Speaker 4: it's about time we had leadership in this state who
- 2:47:22Speaker 4: brought common sense back, who fought for middle class families
- 2:47:26Speaker 4: and made Connecticut affordable for all. I know we can
- 2:47:29Speaker 4: do it, but we're going to need to work as
- 2:47:32Speaker 4: hard as can be over the next 45 days. And
- 2:47:34Speaker 4: we're going to need everyone's help to accomplish it. So
- 2:47:38Speaker 4: I know we can.
- 2:47:39Speaker 1: That's the good news.
- 2:47:40Speaker 41: We can.
- 2:47:41Speaker 1: Well, I know I'm in your corner and I'm pushing
- 2:47:43Speaker 1: as hard as I can and doing as much as
- 2:47:45Speaker 1: I can for you. We appreciate you coming on the
- 2:47:48Speaker 1: radio and giving us an hour of your time with,
- 2:47:50Speaker 1: you know, running a campaign. And, you know, I know
- 2:47:52Speaker 1: your phone is ringing off the hook to get you
- 2:47:54Speaker 1: on different shows. And I cannot thank you enough for
- 2:47:57Speaker 1: helping me make this hour a great hour, 94.9 on
- 2:48:01Speaker 1: Lee Elsie's show. And I'll hopefully see everybody tonight, Lee
- 2:48:05Speaker 1: Elsie and everybody at Red, White & Blue, Water's Edge. Tonight,
- 2:48:10Speaker 1: thank you again so much, Ryan. I can't wait to
- 2:48:13Speaker 1: call you governor.
- 2:48:15Speaker 31: Thank you, George.
- 2:48:15Speaker 4: See you tonight. Yes.
- 2:48:18Speaker 1: Thank you. Good night. Goodbye, everybody. And have a great Monday.
