- 0:05A significant east -west pipeline in Saudi Arabia
- 0:08has been disabled by drones sent by Iran -backed
- 0:11Houthi rebels. The pipeline was a crucial link,
- 0:14drawing oil away from the Persian Gulf to the
- 0:17Red Sea. Additionally, more islands have been
- 0:20occupied along the Red Sea by the Houthis, further
- 0:22weakening Saudi Arabia's control of shipping
- 0:25in the region. Repairs are expected to take up
- 0:28to five weeks. The attack has been cited as a
- 0:31reason for a 2 % rise in oil prices over the
- 0:33weekend. CalMatters is suing University of California
- 0:38Berkeley to force the institution to release
- 0:40financial data on how much its student -athletes
- 0:43earn from name, image, and likeness deals. A
- 0:46previous suit from last month against the University
- 0:48of California Los Angeles was also filed by CalMatters
- 0:51for the same concern over a lack of transparency
- 0:54related to the income of student -athletes. The
- 0:57complaint argues that the college athletes are
- 0:59being paid from publicly sourced resources and
- 1:02should therefore be subjected to public oversight.
- 1:06According to Willamette Week, last week's Portland
- 1:09City Council discussion about investment policy
- 1:12digressed into a disagreement about Jewish identity
- 1:14and support for Israel. The discussion began
- 1:18with a disagreement over city funds being invested
- 1:20into by certain industries related to oil and
- 1:23gas production, small arms manufacturers, and
- 1:26correctional facilities. The conversation turned
- 1:29into one of speculation as to whether certain
- 1:31council members were referring to the United
- 1:33States' support of Israel in its war, and whether
- 1:36some members had actual anti -Semitic viewpoints.
