- 0:02So the question of the day is,
- 0:04to smear or not to smear?
- 0:07Let's find out.
- 0:19I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:20and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:22I always take what I want,
- 0:23and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:25Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:26Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:28I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:29Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:31Now wake up!
- 0:32It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:35Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:37friend to me.
- 0:38It's not working out,
- 0:39maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:40It's time to break up so I can
- 0:42make a better me.
- 0:42Eeeeee!
- 0:42Abba dabba doo!
- 0:49it's lunchtime what is going on everybody
- 0:55welcome to lunchtime with the cloudsdale i
- 0:59know that cowboy is here too we are
- 1:04here man we got people we got people
- 1:07competing to be in the chat today right
- 1:09paul king says he's first when i see
- 1:11third uh same um we got joseph ramirez
- 1:15we got frida we got craig we got
- 1:17mike devito
- 1:20My mind is all over the place this
- 1:22week.
- 1:24It's been like, you know,
- 1:26the Bears are really good,
- 1:27then the season ends and you go through
- 1:29this thing.
- 1:30And now, like,
- 1:31all they're talking about is the stadium
- 1:32and whether it's going to be in Indiana
- 1:34or Illinois.
- 1:35And it looks like it's all coming to
- 1:37a head at the end of this month.
- 1:39Basically,
- 1:42Illinois and Arlington Heights is the girl
- 1:45that you've been lusting after for like
- 1:48three years, right?
- 1:49Right.
- 1:50And you've been doing all the things and
- 1:51you bought her nice things and you bought
- 1:54three hundred acres of land and you've
- 1:57been talking nice and sweet to her and
- 2:01her mom and dad won't let her date
- 2:04you.
- 2:06And then this girl down south comes in
- 2:08and says, we got it all.
- 2:10We'll cook you every meal.
- 2:11We'll give you massages after work.
- 2:13We will rub your feet and you won't
- 2:16have to pay a thing.
- 2:21And you can keep that two billion dollars
- 2:22in your pocket that you were going to
- 2:24use to build the stadium.
- 2:26We'll build it for you and then just
- 2:28lease it to you for thirty five years
- 2:30and it'll become yours then.
- 2:36It's kind of hard to argue with,
- 2:40ain't it?
- 2:40It is.
- 2:40The Bears owners don't want to move to
- 2:42Indiana.
- 2:43Yeah, well, I imagine not.
- 2:44They're the Chicago Bears.
- 2:46But they basically told the Illinois
- 2:48legislator, there's one thing we need.
- 2:52We need to know what our taxes are
- 2:54going to be after we build this huge
- 2:56structure in your state.
- 2:58We just need to know what the taxes
- 3:00are.
- 3:00If you can tell us that by the
- 3:02end of the month,
- 3:02we're staying in Illinois.
- 3:04if you can't we're gonna go we're gonna
- 3:06go hang out with the other girl and
- 3:10it's utterly crazy yeah so and then the
- 3:20other thing i i actually watched part of
- 3:22the royal rumble for the first time in
- 3:24like probably twenty years right when i
- 3:28was a kid the royal rumble was the
- 3:30coolest event in wrestling
- 3:32Because you didn't know who was in it
- 3:34until they showed up every two minutes and
- 3:37showed up in the ring.
- 3:39And I remember as a kid, like, oh,
- 3:40my gosh, it's Coco Beware.
- 3:42Or, oh, my, you know,
- 3:43like the craziest wrestlers out of the.
- 3:46And so I watched the women's version and
- 3:49it was held in Saudi Arabia.
- 3:52So all the women had to wear full
- 3:54pants and full sleeve shirts.
- 3:59which is crazy but the then the stands
- 4:03what they thought was a cool thing they
- 4:04put an led light over every seat in
- 4:08the stadium and so when people came down
- 4:11like in the the screen went to who
- 4:13it was and and the light board all
- 4:16the seats lit up in the same colors
- 4:18and they like the whole arena
- 4:22for this really cool effect.
- 4:23But when they weren't on,
- 4:25they were this white thing.
- 4:27And when you looked at the stands,
- 4:28it looked like nobody was there.
- 4:31That's wild.
- 4:33Even though it was sold out,
- 4:34it looked like nobody was there at all.
- 4:39It was such a bad look on TV.
- 4:41And I'm thinking,
- 4:42so CrossFit's not the only one with the
- 4:44image issue when you're showing the stands
- 4:46empty.
- 4:47No, I would imagine not.
- 4:50I would imagine not.
- 4:54oh man that's all flown away for the
- 4:58weekend for coaches Congress and forgotten
- 5:00his slippers I'm so annoyed like my and
- 5:04now that I'm old right I'm in my
- 5:06fifties feet my feet being comfortable is
- 5:09like the most important thing on my body
- 5:14and I was just thinking to myself this
- 5:15morning I need a new set of slippers
- 5:17because I hate the ones I have
- 5:20I don't have slippers,
- 5:21but I am barefoot in my house from
- 5:23the time I get home until the time
- 5:25I wake up in the morning.
- 5:29No socks, no nothing.
- 5:30My feet need to be free.
- 5:32Now,
- 5:32walking around a hotel room with nothing
- 5:33on my feet, that ain't... No.
- 5:37That's questionable at best.
- 5:38Yeah.
- 5:39That's questionable at best.
- 5:41I usually, if I'm in a hotel room,
- 5:43I usually have, at the very least,
- 5:44like a pair of Hey Dudes on,
- 5:46just kind of moving around the room just
- 5:48because.
- 5:50It's a hotel room.
- 5:51Like,
- 5:51you want to know who was murdered there
- 5:52before you got there?
- 5:57Jake might be pregnant.
- 5:58Well, congratulations, man.
- 6:00Just had a baby.
- 6:01So, like,
- 6:03should be just about the right amount of
- 6:05time.
- 6:06Shay says slippers for life any time of
- 6:08the year.
- 6:11Mark Moss.
- 6:11I'm basically Rich Froning now.
- 6:13I've got the Vivo barefoot shoes.
- 6:16Vivo?
- 6:17Vivo?
- 6:17Vivo?
- 6:17Vivo?
- 6:18Vivo?
- 6:20Vivo.
- 6:21Vivo.
- 6:22Give me the Vivo barefoot shoes.
- 6:25Yeah.
- 6:27There's no way.
- 6:28I'm actually looking into purchasing some
- 6:30new slippers myself.
- 6:32You're looking into it?
- 6:36Like price shopping?
- 6:38I am not an impulse buy guy.
- 6:41Like,
- 6:43like i look like that that that lego
- 6:46rv of uh freaking bad right yeah i
- 6:50looked at that for three months before i
- 6:52purchased it as a matter of fact because
- 6:57uh my son bought his baby sister a
- 7:03lego uh the two girls from wicked and
- 7:08so the
- 7:10the Wicked Witch and the whatever her name
- 7:13is, Glinda,
- 7:14like a little set where you actually got
- 7:16to build them each.
- 7:17And she did that last night, dude,
- 7:19and was like all the way up in
- 7:22it.
- 7:22And she finished it right before she went
- 7:24to bed.
- 7:24And she was so proud of herself and
- 7:25whatnot.
- 7:26I said,
- 7:27there's somebody else who's all up into
- 7:28that kind of stuff.
- 7:30I'm Mark Phillips.
- 7:30I use the faux fur line Crocs.
- 7:32I can't tell if that makes me fancy
- 7:34or lame.
- 7:35Fancy.
- 7:36Yeah, I think I'd like those.
- 7:39Absolutely.
- 7:40I think that might be a solution.
- 7:46Mark likes the Vivo barefoot,
- 7:49but he had to use his kid's college
- 7:50fund to pay for them.
- 7:51Gosh,
- 7:52everything's so expensive these days.
- 7:55I'm tired of buying stuff.
- 7:56It's really fancy.
- 7:57She's got heated floors.
- 7:59Yeah,
- 7:59that's what I was like freaking out about.
- 8:01Heated floors.
- 8:03Man.
- 8:04Yeah, my in-laws,
- 8:05they've built all their own homes and they
- 8:07put like tubing into the floor.
- 8:10Yeah.
- 8:10And they pour it like the concrete.
- 8:13And then it has water that goes through
- 8:15it that they hook up to their wood
- 8:16burning stove.
- 8:18And then the steam goes through that hose.
- 8:21So all of their floors are warm.
- 8:23I would imagine that's got to heat up
- 8:25the whole house too.
- 8:26I mean, you can't not.
- 8:28Yeah.
- 8:29but that'd be nice walking on this nice,
- 8:31warm wooden floor.
- 8:32The wood burning stove part is kind of
- 8:35interesting.
- 8:35I was expecting to hear you say like
- 8:37a, a tankless water heater,
- 8:40but not wood burning stove.
- 8:42That's, that's a new one on me.
- 8:45Yeah.
- 8:45It's dude.
- 8:46They live in the nineteen thirties.
- 8:48Is that when it's.
- 8:50That is where they live.
- 8:51They, they use their flux capacitors.
- 8:53They went to nineteen thirty.
- 8:55They're all there.
- 8:56They live on.
- 8:56My brother-in-law is a milk farmer.
- 9:00It is truly like the middle of nowhere.
- 9:03Alrighty then.
- 9:06Jay Birch says he's been a member of
- 9:08this channel for thirty months.
- 9:10Almost three years, baby.
- 9:11Dude, that's awesome.
- 9:12You and Ken at The Lap were like
- 9:13the original two.
- 9:16Mark Moss said walk barefoot almost
- 9:22anywhere.
- 9:22Draw the line at Porter Potties.
- 9:24Yeah.
- 9:24No, thank you.
- 9:29Shea,
- 9:29heated floors are a necessity in Canada,
- 9:32especially in bathrooms.
- 9:34That's why I don't live in Canada.
- 9:37Same as Sweden.
- 9:38Sweden!
- 9:44I, uh...
- 9:47speaking of Canada, you know,
- 9:48we talked about,
- 9:49I talked about the other day how my
- 9:51high school had this gold shirt test and
- 9:53we compared it to the man test.
- 9:55Right.
- 9:56I've got so many responses from Canadians
- 9:58saying that that was a thing in their
- 10:01elementary schools that you would take
- 10:03this fitness test and you would,
- 10:06and you got like a gold,
- 10:07there was a gold standard,
- 10:08a blue standard, different things.
- 10:11And it really was motivating for kids and
- 10:14their fitness as they were growing up.
- 10:16Um,
- 10:18And I think that's been lost.
- 10:21I grew up in the eighties and we
- 10:24didn't do any of that through elementary
- 10:26or we had PE every day.
- 10:29Yeah.
- 10:30But we didn't have like a presidential or
- 10:33any of that,
- 10:34like any kind of standards or whatever.
- 10:36We just had PE and then you went
- 10:37on about your business or you played
- 10:38sports.
- 10:40There wasn't no...
- 10:42When we get back together,
- 10:43when I get back together with high school
- 10:44friends,
- 10:44we still talk about the gold test.
- 10:46Because one of them was you had to
- 10:48tread water for an hour to get the
- 10:49gold level.
- 10:50So you literally had to come in before
- 10:52school started and go in the school pool
- 10:55and you had to tread water for an
- 10:56hour.
- 10:57And once you achieve gold level at any
- 10:59of the tests,
- 11:00you never had to take that test again.
- 11:02They were like, you're good.
- 11:06And like the tread water one was a
- 11:07big one because like that,
- 11:08it was time consuming.
- 11:10Yeah.
- 11:12and uh i don't know if i could
- 11:14shed water for an hour today yeah i
- 11:18mean i was swimming then so like it
- 11:20it was not a bit even a thing
- 11:22for me right and literally all it is
- 11:26is you just can't touch the wall right
- 11:27or touch the floor if you do your
- 11:30time is done um so i mean i
- 11:32could even swim like little laps and not
- 11:36it was it wasn't hard for me but
- 11:38there were there were a lot of kids
- 11:39who couldn't even get like the five minute
- 11:42blue test right which was the lowest level
- 11:45i am not buoyant i don't float so
- 11:50like that probably we won't be working
- 11:51against me because i would have to be
- 11:54like actually treading water the whole
- 11:56time yeah jay birch if you actually like
- 11:58used a gator for buoyancy you were
- 12:00disqualified as well
- 12:06Oh,
- 12:06there was no pool at my school anyway.
- 12:10It was cool how many people responded that
- 12:12they had something similar.
- 12:15One person responded that they used the
- 12:18presidential physical fitness test and
- 12:20actually created fitness teams.
- 12:22At their school.
- 12:24So it looks like a,
- 12:25like a lot of that stuff was done
- 12:27early on.
- 12:30And then of course we talked to like
- 12:31to Carolyn's Monday night about she has a,
- 12:35she owns an affiliate at her school.
- 12:38Yeah.
- 12:38I remember that.
- 12:39And so like she teaches CrossFit as phys
- 12:43ed at her school.
- 12:46But the complication of that is like if
- 12:48you want people to get involved in the
- 12:50open and their March break is what they
- 12:53call spring break is right in the middle
- 12:55of the open.
- 12:56So she can't do it with her kids
- 12:59because she loses them for a week.
- 13:02Yeah, that sucks.
- 13:03Yeah.
- 13:05But I would say the benefits far outweigh
- 13:09the fact that they can't do the open.
- 13:12Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:13But it would be cool to get people,
- 13:15kids at that age to sign up for
- 13:17the open and become like,
- 13:20this is the thing you do every year
- 13:22at fourteen, fifteen, sixteen.
- 13:25And then they do that for the rest
- 13:27of their lives.
- 13:27Right.
- 13:29Get them in early.
- 13:31Get them in early, get them in young,
- 13:32get them fit, baby.
- 13:34Get them building habits, man,
- 13:36because that's the biggest thing I try to
- 13:38instill in people all the time,
- 13:40especially new people that come up and
- 13:42they do a workout and they feel good
- 13:43or whatever.
- 13:45It's a couple months in,
- 13:46they're slogging through because they want
- 13:49to be able to do more stuff.
- 13:51They want to go farther.
- 13:52They want to go faster.
- 13:53Hey, man, keep showing up.
- 13:58Keep showing up.
- 13:59The number one habit you need to have
- 14:01is to show up to this place once
- 14:03a day for an hour,
- 14:05and I guarantee you it's going to pay
- 14:08off.
- 14:11Yeah,
- 14:11I think the hardest thing for me is
- 14:12I was in a sport every season.
- 14:14All four seasons I played a sport.
- 14:17And when I graduated and then I swam
- 14:19in college briefly, and then I quit that,
- 14:22I didn't know how to just train.
- 14:24I only knew how to train for something.
- 14:28And so like, I just didn't know,
- 14:32I didn't know what to do.
- 14:34So when all that was over,
- 14:35like I was lost.
- 14:37I would go to the gym and I
- 14:38would hop on a treadmill and I would,
- 14:40but I didn't really know what I was
- 14:41doing because I trained differently for
- 14:44football than I did for swimming.
- 14:46Like football was high weights, low reps.
- 14:50Swimming was low weights, high reps.
- 14:53So my whole like thing was discombobulated
- 14:56when I was done and I didn't know
- 14:58where to go.
- 14:59And there was no CrossFit in nineteen
- 15:01eighty nine.
- 15:02No, sir.
- 15:04So I didn't have a gym to go
- 15:05to to like teach me this is how
- 15:09this is how you train at all.
- 15:10Right.
- 15:11Right.
- 15:13No,
- 15:13and even global gyms back then were still
- 15:16people just in there doing back buys and
- 15:18tries.
- 15:18I mean, it was bodybuilding type shit,
- 15:21right?
- 15:21Yeah,
- 15:22I was doing the treadmill or the
- 15:24elliptical or the stairmaster,
- 15:26and then I would hop on the bench.
- 15:29I probably avoided squats at the time.
- 15:33Maybe do some curls.
- 15:35Curls for the girls, baby.
- 15:37You know how I'm saying it is how
- 15:39willy-nilly I went about it.
- 15:40Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 15:42Absolutely.
- 15:43Dude, before I started CrossFit,
- 15:44when I was at a global gym,
- 15:45I would literally go in,
- 15:46I would run maybe two miles or so
- 15:48on a treadmill, I guess,
- 15:50just to get myself going.
- 15:52And then I would literally go and see
- 15:54what machines were open and I would go
- 15:56do whatever those were.
- 15:57And then I would make some stuff up
- 15:59and then I would go to work.
- 16:03Jay Birch says it was called hauling hay
- 16:04and digging post holes, not crock.
- 16:07See, I did that for a summer too.
- 16:08Like, but, but I don't,
- 16:10I didn't look at that as training.
- 16:11Right.
- 16:11And then I moved to college and then
- 16:13I really had no clue.
- 16:15Like you have access to this really nice
- 16:17facility in this gym,
- 16:18but what do I do there?
- 16:21yeah a lot of the kids dude lsu
- 16:24has a ridiculous student center like a
- 16:28fitness center there's a they don't call
- 16:30it a lazy river but it's a lazy
- 16:32river outside spells out lsu right you can
- 16:35get in and in like to spend time
- 16:37outside whatnot the the workout facility
- 16:40inside is world-class
- 16:42period like anything you can imagine
- 16:45there's a functional fitness space i know
- 16:47it's my son goes there right and like
- 16:49how many people use it and he was
- 16:50like very very few and it's because they
- 16:52have no idea what to do like they
- 16:54got all this stuff there and it's shiny
- 16:55and it's brand new and whatnot but very
- 16:57few of them go in there with any
- 16:58kind of because there's no guidance
- 17:01they're just like here's the keys go for
- 17:04it do whatever you want
- 17:08Well,
- 17:08let's get into some of the topics of
- 17:09the day.
- 17:10Yesterday at the end of the show,
- 17:12we bled over into the CrossFit Games
- 17:15podcast, sport of fitness podcast.
- 17:17And so at that,
- 17:18they actually announced who was doing
- 17:20twenty six point one.
- 17:23So let's show that this is on the
- 17:25game's Instagram channel.
- 17:28If you did not see it.
- 17:32The CrossFit Games Open starts now.
- 17:41So that is who is doing twenty six
- 17:44point one.
- 17:44Any initial thoughts on that?
- 18:06Never bet against Colton Mertens.
- 18:12Actually,
- 18:12my initial thoughts was that it was very
- 18:14well produced.
- 18:15I like the graphics.
- 18:16I like the top gun looking graphics and
- 18:19whatnot.
- 18:21The whole thing was very,
- 18:21very slickly put together,
- 18:23but never bet against Colton Mertens would
- 18:25be my first,
- 18:26especially on the first workout for the
- 18:28Open.
- 18:29Because you know it's going to be more
- 18:30than likely going to be some sort of
- 18:31motor test,
- 18:32probably going to have some burpees in it,
- 18:33something along those lines,
- 18:34and
- 18:36i'm not betting against him i wouldn't
- 18:37there's no way so here was my initial
- 18:40thought they got all the trash talkers in
- 18:43one building at one time for the first
- 18:46opening holy smokes yes alan pepper has
- 18:48been calling out austin hatfield left and
- 18:50right in the last few weeks if you
- 18:52did not see his five favorite people to
- 18:56compete with and five people he hates to
- 18:58compete with um
- 19:01He calls out Austin Hatfield hard, right?
- 19:05Jason and Dallin have been ripping on each
- 19:07other nonstop for two years.
- 19:10For two years now, yeah.
- 19:12Colton shreds everybody equally all over
- 19:18the place, right?
- 19:19And Austin talks trash too.
- 19:23The problem is Austin hasn't backed it up
- 19:26yet.
- 19:29colton comes out there and says these
- 19:30nerds knew i was fixing to come out
- 19:31there and they were everybody else was
- 19:32competing for second place like he says
- 19:34that on camera well i don't know if
- 19:38i think he said like um i hope
- 19:42you believe in god because or it was
- 19:45something like he gave you a nightmare
- 19:48week one by pitting you against me or
- 19:50something like it something to that effect
- 19:54um
- 19:56It's completely insane,
- 19:58and I think it is what we need
- 20:01to lean into if you want the sport
- 20:03to grow.
- 20:03We've talked about that on this show a
- 20:05ton.
- 20:07The trash talk, smack talk,
- 20:09the rivalries are important to the sport.
- 20:14And Dallin has figured that out by his
- 20:17call-outs and his...
- 20:19Dallin has upped his game.
- 20:21Five hundred percent.
- 20:23In the last two months.
- 20:24On his YouTube channel.
- 20:26This is what I made.
- 20:27This is how I made it.
- 20:28This is who I like.
- 20:30This is who I don't like.
- 20:32And it's all done with like a comedic
- 20:34element.
- 20:35That makes it lovable.
- 20:36Instead of.
- 20:37Yeah.
- 20:38That you're like this guy's a dick.
- 20:41It feels authentic.
- 20:44Right.
- 20:44It feels like he's just being himself.
- 20:46Like.
- 20:47And I would.
- 20:48Yeah.
- 20:49venture to say that it probably has a
- 20:51whole lot to do with his wife,
- 20:52who was actually in charge of his social
- 20:54media, telling him probably what to say,
- 20:58but not necessarily how to say it.
- 21:00Like, hey,
- 21:01this is what we're going to do.
- 21:02And he just buys in and it's working.
- 21:05it's freaking awesome.
- 21:07And Jason has been great with the, like,
- 21:10Hey, get out of my DMS,
- 21:12that whole bit, get out off my feed,
- 21:15that whole bit.
- 21:16Um, Jay says,
- 21:17Austin is not a good trash talker.
- 21:20He's just a smart ass.
- 21:23Yeah.
- 21:23And I, and you know,
- 21:26Dallin called him out in the last video.
- 21:28Like he just repeats movie lines.
- 21:31Um,
- 21:33And he showed like,
- 21:34he shows the movie line,
- 21:35then Austin saying it.
- 21:37And it's, you have to see it.
- 21:40It's done really, really well.
- 21:43Again.
- 21:44Good.
- 21:46Uh,
- 21:46Frida said that looked like they went for
- 21:48the eighties superhero comic book.
- 21:49Look, everybody's copying off me for it.
- 21:52I know.
- 21:52Well, here's the thing.
- 21:55So like everything old is new again,
- 21:58right?
- 21:58Everything comes in cyclical cycles, blah,
- 22:00blah, whatever.
- 22:02Um,
- 22:04You just watched the Wrecking Crew movie.
- 22:07What did you say he gave you?
- 22:12The new Running Man.
- 22:13Have you seen it?
- 22:14Yep.
- 22:15same thing right like super ridiculous
- 22:18over-the-top action one-liners everybody's
- 22:23cussing the entire time just like it was
- 22:26in you know nineteen eighty five whatever
- 22:29so if we're leaning into all of that
- 22:31and we're getting like that was a great
- 22:32time a fun time for like any kind
- 22:36of media stuff and whatnot like it was
- 22:38good entertaining stuff and if that's what
- 22:40we're kind of leaning into as far as
- 22:41this kind of stuff is concerned then good
- 22:43because holy smokes
- 22:46it's fun and it's entertaining and it's
- 22:48going to capture people's imagination and
- 22:50make them want to kind of pay attention
- 22:51more because, because of that.
- 22:54Yeah.
- 22:55I agree.
- 22:55I agree.
- 22:56I,
- 22:58I wanted to get your take on the
- 22:59running man, but Jay Birch is asking me,
- 23:01don't spoil anything.
- 23:02So that's fine.
- 23:04So we'll talk about this.
- 23:05I enjoyed the shit out of it.
- 23:08I did too, but I felt like,
- 23:10so my wife and I watched it together.
- 23:12I remember vividly the original.
- 23:14Oh yeah.
- 23:15Same.
- 23:15She does not.
- 23:17And so I knew like the differences between
- 23:19the two and there were some things I
- 23:21liked in the original better than I liked
- 23:22in the new one.
- 23:23And some things I liked in the new
- 23:24one better than the original.
- 23:26And, but I still enjoyed both very,
- 23:28very much.
- 23:29They're two very, very similar,
- 23:31but very different movies.
- 23:33she was very like, I don't,
- 23:37I don't get this or I don't get
- 23:39that.
- 23:40And, and so because I saw the original,
- 23:43I, I could fill in the blanks better.
- 23:45I think if that makes sense, I don't.
- 23:48Sure.
- 23:50And that's the only reason I could think
- 23:51like that.
- 23:51I,
- 23:52I got it and she didn't because she
- 23:53didn't remember the original.
- 23:55I mean, it's a,
- 23:57it's a great Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 23:59one liner machine.
- 24:02There's a ton of them in there to
- 24:04watch.
- 24:04And like, it's entertaining.
- 24:07The one thing I will say was way
- 24:08better in the original was Richard Dawson
- 24:10as a game show host was way better.
- 24:13You were never going to top that.
- 24:15No,
- 24:16never ever going to top that one because
- 24:17he really was a game show host.
- 24:19Correct.
- 24:20And he just like, he went.
- 24:22Ten times of what his,
- 24:24what his persona was on TV.
- 24:26Right.
- 24:26And he just from the family feud to
- 24:28like,
- 24:30taken to its logical conclusion.
- 24:31If that somebody like had that much power,
- 24:35he just went all the way there.
- 24:36I will say this,
- 24:37the dude that they got,
- 24:38who's hosting it now,
- 24:40I think he did a fantastic job.
- 24:42He really did,
- 24:42but he is no Richard Dawson and he
- 24:44never will be.
- 24:44But he was an actor playing a game
- 24:47show host.
- 24:48Correct.
- 24:48That's what I'm saying.
- 24:49Richard Dawson was a game show host
- 24:50playing himself.
- 24:51Playing a game show host.
- 24:52Right.
- 24:55But no, I, whatever I said,
- 24:56I enjoyed the shout out of it.
- 24:58I'm going to watch it again.
- 25:01And Jay Burch,
- 25:01just to demonstrate how old he is,
- 25:03he liked Richard Dawson and Hogan's
- 25:05Heroes.
- 25:05We all did.
- 25:06We all did Jay Burch.
- 25:12So that is the opening twenty six point
- 25:14one.
- 25:14I think that's great.
- 25:15I think we're off to a great start.
- 25:17I think that's a great way to kick
- 25:18it off.
- 25:19And I think that the the vibe on
- 25:21that reel is it is sponsored by the
- 25:23Air National Guard.
- 25:24It gives it that top gun feel.
- 25:27They're trying to, you know,
- 25:29lean into that, which is cool with me.
- 25:30Yeah.
- 25:31To play it, play it up.
- 25:34So then when we came on live,
- 25:37I said to smear or not to smear.
- 25:39Oh, yeah, we did.
- 25:40We're going to talk about this,
- 25:41and as we go through it,
- 25:42I'll decide whether it becomes smear or no
- 25:44smear.
- 25:46But the WFP announced more signings
- 25:48yesterday.
- 25:49Oh, okay.
- 25:50I don't know if you saw that.
- 25:51I did not.
- 25:53And so on their Instagram,
- 25:56they – here it is.
- 25:59There's BKG.
- 26:02Chris Ibarra, Ty Jenkins, Enola Kai,
- 26:06and Tudor Magda.
- 26:08And those are added to the original group,
- 26:12which was Pat Vellner, Nate Ackerman,
- 26:15Jennifer Muir, Jack Farlow, Emily Rolfe,
- 26:17Yellow Hosta,
- 26:20Travis Mayer, Lydia Fish,
- 26:21Roman Krennikoff, Emmett Tull,
- 26:23Andreas Olberg, Sydney McElishan,
- 26:27Oda Lundvinkum, Guy Mejeros,
- 26:30and Chandler Smith.
- 26:33So what I wanted to do is show
- 26:38the leaderboard and see where the holes
- 26:40are.
- 26:41Because when they're announced on
- 26:42Instagram, you can see who signed,
- 26:45but we don't know who isn't signing.
- 26:47Right.
- 26:48Right?
- 26:49And I'm sure there are more that have
- 26:50signed we don't know about yet because
- 26:52James has said he's doing it and he
- 26:54did not appear on that Instagram post.
- 26:57Right?
- 26:58So here's the WFP leaderboard from the end
- 27:01of the tour season last year.
- 27:04James says he's doing it,
- 27:05but then we have Dallin Pepper,
- 27:06Ricky Garrard,
- 27:07Justin Medeiros not on the list.
- 27:11Then you have Roman and Guy and Tudor
- 27:13and Chandler.
- 27:14They're all there.
- 27:15Yona was not.
- 27:17We have Nolikai and Jack, they signed.
- 27:20Mertens, not on the list yet.
- 27:25Hosta, Vellner, and Mayer signed.
- 27:27And then we have Adler,
- 27:28not on the list.
- 27:30Ty Jenkins on the list.
- 27:32BKG on the list.
- 27:33Ibera on the list.
- 27:34And Ackerman on the list.
- 27:36So when you get down into this like
- 27:38ten through twenty,
- 27:39it's most of them have signed.
- 27:43But up at the top is where we're
- 27:45missing some people.
- 27:47And we don't know how they're going to
- 27:48handle that.
- 27:49They haven't announced if Dallin says no,
- 27:52does Ricky move up to two?
- 27:55And does he get the number two money?
- 27:59Excellent question.
- 28:00Vice versa, right?
- 28:01Or do you have twenty and if only
- 28:04fifteen sign,
- 28:06then the other five positions don't go to
- 28:08anyone and the money just goes back in
- 28:10the pot?
- 28:12I would like to know what their
- 28:13contingency plan is.
- 28:16Be honest with you, just out of curiosity.
- 28:18Cause I have no,
- 28:20like I have no dog in this fight
- 28:21whatsoever,
- 28:24but I would like to know what their
- 28:25contingency plan is just to see if they
- 28:27actually even have one or if they just
- 28:28flying by the seat of their pants at
- 28:29this point,
- 28:30because I don't think they were expecting
- 28:32that many people to not re up.
- 28:35So the women's side is worse.
- 28:39So when we look at the women's side,
- 28:40we have no Laura, no Amy, no Emma,
- 28:42no Lucy, no Ariel.
- 28:44Right.
- 28:45Emmett tall is the first sign.
- 28:48Brooke Wells retired Olivia curse date or
- 28:53no Sydney Wells.
- 28:54No Anika Greer.
- 28:55No.
- 28:57So it's Emmett tall.
- 28:58And then the next person is Andrea Solberg
- 29:00at eleven.
- 29:03It's two out of two,
- 29:05two out of eleven so far.
- 29:07And then Lydia Fish is signed.
- 29:08Sydney McElishan is signed.
- 29:09Emily Rolfe is signed.
- 29:11Danny Spiegel is not on the list.
- 29:14Hannah Black is not on the list.
- 29:17Mano Ankeny is not on the list.
- 29:20And then you have Jennifer Muir,
- 29:21Oda and Ella Wilkinson is not on the
- 29:24list.
- 29:27So it is really bare bones who is
- 29:29signed on the women's side.
- 29:35What was their timeframe?
- 29:38When we were live last week,
- 29:39someone was in the chat and said they
- 29:41had a ten-day window.
- 29:44It has been more than ten days.
- 29:47Ten business days?
- 29:48Again,
- 29:49they could change the rules and us not
- 29:51know and give more time or more...
- 29:55I was watching the spin this morning and
- 29:58Patrick Clark was in the comments saying
- 30:00that some of the people...
- 30:02have officially declined,
- 30:04but was not giving any more answers than
- 30:07that, that I could see.
- 30:09He's probably not allowed to,
- 30:11so I can't blame him for that.
- 30:13I'm just wondering, like, what's the,
- 30:14like you said,
- 30:15what's the contingency plan?
- 30:16Because out of the people you just
- 30:19mentioned on the female side,
- 30:20there's only like, what, seven of them,
- 30:23six or seven, six or seven, one, two,
- 30:27three, four, five, six, seven, seven.
- 30:33That's not a lot of and there's no
- 30:37competitive vision anymore.
- 30:39And yet you're going to fill a person
- 30:41roster for every event.
- 30:47That's a lot.
- 30:48It that's impressive.
- 30:50With what you're seeing at this point.
- 30:52Now,
- 30:52maybe we're jumping the gun and most of
- 30:56these people end up signing,
- 30:58but I don't think that's the case.
- 31:00I think there is going to be a
- 31:01significant group that decide not to do
- 31:04it.
- 31:04You can only go off of the information
- 31:06that you have, right?
- 31:07And the information that we have right
- 31:09now, it doesn't look great.
- 31:12it doesn't look great and how do you
- 31:14determine like you just keep going down
- 31:15the list they didn't go with fifty before
- 31:19right how many was it thirty and twenty
- 31:21so thirty pros twenty competitors
- 31:24basically what they're saying is we're
- 31:26gonna call you all pros now you all
- 31:28get to compete for the same points um
- 31:32so even if so that's fifty in and
- 31:34of itself you still lost
- 31:38Let's say it window shuts right now.
- 31:42You got seven women that have signed.
- 31:46Seven out of you.
- 31:47So you still got forty three that haven't
- 31:51obviously.
- 31:52Right.
- 31:52And you can send out the rest of
- 31:54those invites yet.
- 31:56Doesn't leave a whole lot of people.
- 32:00No, like, and remember, Torch Top One,
- 32:03if you made it to Copenhagen,
- 32:04you get a free invite.
- 32:05Right.
- 32:06So you don't have to do the qualifier.
- 32:09And they have five wild cards.
- 32:11But if only seven of twenty have signed,
- 32:14that's thirteen open spots they have to
- 32:16backfill.
- 32:18So you add the ten from Copenhagen,
- 32:20now you're still only at seventeen.
- 32:24And you have to get to fifty?
- 32:28How many people actually signed up for the
- 32:29qualifier?
- 32:31I don't think they've even opened it yet.
- 32:34Because I don't think we know.
- 32:36We don't know who doesn't need to do
- 32:38the qualifier.
- 32:39Man.
- 32:39I hope they get it together.
- 32:46I mean, again,
- 32:47like we have said a million times,
- 32:48nobody wants to see them fail.
- 32:50It's just very curious to watch.
- 32:54Frida says,
- 32:54I would not be surprised if Otis signs.
- 32:56She did sign.
- 32:57She is one of the signed athletes.
- 33:00She is one of the seven.
- 33:05But it's crazy.
- 33:07And to be honest,
- 33:08I was thinking about this.
- 33:09If I'm Sidney McAlishan and I've been
- 33:14borderline making the games or not and
- 33:16I've got guaranteed money,
- 33:18damn right I'm signing.
- 33:22Well, wouldn't you?
- 33:25This would pay for my season.
- 33:27And I get to go to these events
- 33:29for free.
- 33:29They pay my money because I'm a signed
- 33:31athlete now.
- 33:33Like, why wouldn't I?
- 33:34If I'm Lydia Fish or Sydney McElishan,
- 33:37and it's Hannah Black,
- 33:39it's iffy if I make the season or
- 33:41not.
- 33:42And it's a good way to compete against
- 33:46high-level competition,
- 33:47so you're going to get some more
- 33:48competition experience under your belt.
- 33:50Like, it's a win-win.
- 33:51Right.
- 33:52Especially for those fringe athletes.
- 33:54Like,
- 33:54let's go and see what you can do.
- 33:57Those are the people that probably need to
- 34:00sign.
- 34:00Should sign, yeah.
- 34:02Right.
- 34:03Now, if you're a top-ten games athlete,
- 34:06you've got choices.
- 34:07Like, I respect James.
- 34:09He's going to sign up and take the
- 34:10hundred grand, guaranteed hundred grand,
- 34:12and fit it into a schedule.
- 34:15But a lot of athletes don't want to
- 34:17fit it in.
- 34:18They just want to concentrate on what they
- 34:19want to concentrate on.
- 34:20They want to train for what they train
- 34:22for.
- 34:22James can take that,
- 34:23get the guaranteed hundred,
- 34:25and then if he does great, good.
- 34:29If he doesn't,
- 34:29he can't lose at that point.
- 34:32The only way he can lose is if
- 34:34he gets hurt doing one of the events
- 34:38and it's bad enough where he can't compete
- 34:39in game season because ultimately he wants
- 34:41to win the games.
- 34:44Will is heading to do a podcast with
- 34:45Rich,
- 34:45so maybe Will can answer some of those
- 34:47questions.
- 34:48Yeah,
- 34:49I'm not optimistic of him answering
- 34:51anything clearly enough so that we
- 34:53understand at this point.
- 34:55I'm sorry.
- 34:57Maybe he won't be chewing gum this time.
- 34:59Here's the smear campaign.
- 35:00I should set an alarm.
- 35:03When you surround yourself with yes-men...
- 35:07That's why all this stuff goes out without
- 35:09being double-checked,
- 35:11without being corrected,
- 35:13like the drug thing.
- 35:16There should be somebody there that is
- 35:19like the people you are calling the smear
- 35:22campaign.
- 35:23You should hire one of them to tell
- 35:26you before it goes out to the public
- 35:28what the hell you've done wrong.
- 35:30Yeah.
- 35:30Hey, man, this doesn't look great.
- 35:34But I heard directly from people that were
- 35:38initially working for WFP when they gave
- 35:41feedback were let go.
- 35:45Which is a... When you do that,
- 35:49you're setting yourself up for this shit.
- 35:51A hundred percent.
- 35:52Because you can't see the forest for the
- 35:54trees because you think you're doing
- 35:56everything right and you have nobody to
- 35:58double check your work.
- 36:01Because I...
- 36:03I'm doing Monster Games qualifiers right
- 36:05now.
- 36:05Before I send my videos and, like,
- 36:08upload them to Competition Corner,
- 36:09I go back and look at them because
- 36:12I am my own check at this point.
- 36:14If I have any questions,
- 36:15I get somebody else to look at them
- 36:17for me.
- 36:18Hey, man,
- 36:18can you take a look at this and
- 36:19tell me if you think, like,
- 36:20these reps look clean or whatever before I
- 36:23upload this?
- 36:24And that's just little me trying to make
- 36:27a –
- 36:28fairly decent sized competition as a
- 36:31master's athlete.
- 36:32I'm not trying to put on this thing
- 36:34where we're giving away millions of
- 36:35dollars.
- 36:40That's the problem that most people make
- 36:42when they start a business.
- 36:43They start it with all their friends and
- 36:45all the people that agree with them on
- 36:46everything.
- 36:48You need to have naysayers in the room
- 36:52that are willing to step up and tell
- 36:55you, hey, let's look at this again.
- 37:00Maybe we need to go in a different
- 37:01direction.
- 37:03Did you double check?
- 37:04Last year we had this PR nightmare with
- 37:07cannabinoids.
- 37:09Before we put out the rule book,
- 37:11let's get that shit fixed.
- 37:14Just make a checklist.
- 37:15Hey,
- 37:16what were the major talking points of last
- 37:18year?
- 37:19cannabinoids, equipment failures,
- 37:23information questions, right?
- 37:25And stuff that's going on to the public.
- 37:26Okay, cool.
- 37:27Did we address those things?
- 37:30Yes, no, maybe.
- 37:31Okay, what do we need?
- 37:33Let me make a flowchart.
- 37:34It really wouldn't be that hard to do.
- 37:38I just don't understand it.
- 37:39David Reed asks or says,
- 37:41is it a win if it impacts your
- 37:42pursuit of being the fittest on earth?
- 37:45It's a win for those people who are
- 37:47not ready to be the fittest on earth.
- 37:49Correct.
- 37:50Fringe athletes.
- 37:51There are a group of athletes who are
- 37:54borderline games athletes.
- 37:57That are your twenty to thirty place
- 37:59finishers at the games who are trying to
- 38:01get more competitive experience,
- 38:03who are trying to develop themselves into
- 38:06somebody who can compete.
- 38:09You get to do it on somebody else's
- 38:10dime if you can get one of these
- 38:12pro cards.
- 38:17And it's pretty decent competition.
- 38:19You can learn your game and you don't
- 38:21have to worry about finding money to pay
- 38:24for everything.
- 38:25And a lot of these level athletes aren't
- 38:27getting the sponsorships that a Dallin
- 38:30Pepper or an Emma Lawson are getting and
- 38:34can fund themselves through the season.
- 38:36They need help.
- 38:37And this is a way for them to
- 38:39do it and not have to worry about
- 38:42the financial aspect of the season.
- 38:45But you have to be realistic and look
- 38:46in the mirror and say,
- 38:47I need a year of development before I
- 38:50can go for this big goal.
- 38:53And it doesn't mean you don't do the
- 38:54open.
- 38:55It doesn't mean you don't try to compete
- 38:57and get to the games.
- 38:59It just means that you know that there's
- 39:01some development that you need in your
- 39:03game.
- 39:04And so you're going to take some time
- 39:06to look at that.
- 39:08It's an opportunity that they're literally
- 39:11handing to you.
- 39:12And if you look at it from the
- 39:13right perspective and go,
- 39:15I can take these people's money,
- 39:17let them get me to the competition,
- 39:21compete at the competition,
- 39:23pay me for being there.
- 39:26And then I got more experience.
- 39:28There's money in my pocket.
- 39:29That's one less thing I have to worry
- 39:30about trying to get a sponsor,
- 39:31trying to book plane tickets,
- 39:33all this other nonsense.
- 39:34It takes some stuff off of their plate.
- 39:36And like you said,
- 39:37especially the people who are hungry,
- 39:42who are trying to make those game spots.
- 39:44You make it or you don't, right?
- 39:46But if you don't,
- 39:47you still have opportunities to compete at
- 39:48a high level.
- 39:50And they're paying you for it.
- 39:51They're flying you to these places.
- 39:52As long as you wear a WFP shirt,
- 39:54you can fly wherever you want to go.
- 39:57Well,
- 39:59the pro card athletes don't even have to
- 40:00wear anything on their flight, right?
- 40:03They've earned that as part of their pro
- 40:05card.
- 40:07Chetanufi,
- 40:08that's a culture problem where dissenters
- 40:09are not only discouraged,
- 40:11they're silenced by firing them.
- 40:13No one's speaking up now.
- 40:16And that is, I think,
- 40:17the biggest flaw that the WFP has right
- 40:19now.
- 40:20They have nobody to check them before they
- 40:24release the stuff.
- 40:25Yeah.
- 40:27Because it was a group of people that
- 40:29were mad as hell and they were going
- 40:32to take on CrossFit and they were going
- 40:34to create something new,
- 40:35something they always thought would be
- 40:37better.
- 40:39And that group of people all thought the
- 40:40same way.
- 40:41They didn't bring anybody with them that
- 40:44might be a dissenter.
- 40:48The problem is that's when you make a
- 40:50decision based off of emotion instead of
- 40:52logic, right?
- 40:54Because the rage, the anger,
- 40:57the whatever that you had is eventually
- 40:59going to fade.
- 41:00You can't hold on to that forever because
- 41:01it's going to poison you.
- 41:02And then you're left with whatever you're
- 41:04left with.
- 41:04And now you're just making decisions based
- 41:06off of what?
- 41:07Because you have no other,
- 41:09you're in an echo chamber.
- 41:10If you fire the people that tell you,
- 41:12hey, man,
- 41:12this is probably not a good idea.
- 41:14And here's why.
- 41:15And they're just presenting it to you.
- 41:17They're not saying you're an idiot and
- 41:18this is why.
- 41:19They're saying, hey, man, look,
- 41:21this needs to be fixed.
- 41:25And you go, no, it doesn't.
- 41:26And you just run them off.
- 41:28Then you're setting a standard for
- 41:29everybody else that works there.
- 41:31Because they go, well,
- 41:32they just fired Scott because he told him
- 41:34it probably wasn't a good idea to do
- 41:36X, Y, Z. Well,
- 41:38I'm not going to say anything.
- 41:39I'm going to go ahead and hold on
- 41:40to my money at that point.
- 41:43You know, hold on to my job.
- 41:45I want to keep working here and kind
- 41:46of see where it goes.
- 41:48Ride this ship all the way to the
- 41:50bottom.
- 41:50You know, I don't understand it.
- 41:58Jenny says,
- 41:58we'll study change the drug policy back in
- 42:00March,
- 42:00but it took almost a year to actually
- 42:01update the drug policy.
- 42:03And when spin points it out, it's crazy.
- 42:07Yeah.
- 42:08Listen,
- 42:08I tried to defend them last year when
- 42:10it came out because the organization I
- 42:13work for the document always lags the
- 42:16policy for a month, two months,
- 42:21six months.
- 42:22Right.
- 42:24It's just where I work.
- 42:25I work for government.
- 42:26Everything takes forever to update.
- 42:28But when a full year comes and you
- 42:30put out the new rule book and you
- 42:32don't go one, it was your,
- 42:34one of your biggest PR nightmares from the
- 42:36year before.
- 42:38Why nobody went in and said, Hey,
- 42:40did we,
- 42:41did we get that shit fixed before we
- 42:43put it out?
- 42:45That's what's ridiculous.
- 42:46That's what I just cannot.
- 42:48I cannot fathom.
- 42:49Yeah.
- 42:55Ah, Frida, true.
- 42:57Just reacting to stuff will never work
- 42:58when you are in a leading position.
- 43:02The minute they got called out because the
- 43:04paperwork wasn't updated,
- 43:06they should have had someone in there
- 43:07fixing that document.
- 43:11I can edit a Word document.
- 43:12Doesn't happen again.
- 43:16I know how to edit a Word document.
- 43:18I'm just throwing that out there.
- 43:20Well, it's a Google document,
- 43:23which is even crazier because it's online
- 43:26and it shows when updates are made.
- 43:30It's the old saying, like, fool me once,
- 43:32shame on me.
- 43:33Fool me twice, shame on you.
- 43:35Anybody who's buying into this still,
- 43:38shame on you because they're showing that
- 43:41they're making the same mistake over and
- 43:44over and over.
- 43:46They're not even correcting the mistakes
- 43:48they made last year.
- 43:53And then we get a correction.
- 43:54Twenty four hours later.
- 43:57Why did it take twenty four hours to
- 44:00delete a line?
- 44:03It went out wrong and you knew it.
- 44:05It should have been done in five minutes.
- 44:08It was deleting a line out of the
- 44:10rule book.
- 44:14Delete, delete, delete, delete, delete.
- 44:16It's not hard.
- 44:20And then you just move on.
- 44:22You save that.
- 44:23Now it is deleted.
- 44:25It's your IT tip of the day, folks.
- 44:28Save that.
- 44:28Now it is deleted.
- 44:30And now you have an updated document.
- 44:32And you're good.
- 44:33Press release.
- 44:35And you say correction at the top.
- 44:38We removed cannabinoids from the drug
- 44:41list.
- 44:42Done.
- 44:46Taken care of.
- 44:48Taken care of.
- 44:51It takes three seconds.
- 44:52Exactly.
- 44:53Joseph Ramirez,
- 44:54highlight delete is a complicated task.
- 44:59Again,
- 44:59it all comes down to your surrounding
- 45:01yourself with like-minded people and all
- 45:06yes men.
- 45:08And because of that, yes men, yes women,
- 45:12it's not gender specific.
- 45:15It is,
- 45:16but you're surrounding yourself with all
- 45:19the same thought.
- 45:21And because you're in that same thought,
- 45:25nobody can call each other out.
- 45:28And because of that,
- 45:29you're making the same effing mistakes you
- 45:32made last year.
- 45:36the uh what's it what's the quote the
- 45:38definition of insanity is doing the exact
- 45:41same thing over and over again and
- 45:43expecting different results yeah yeah all
- 45:44right deep breath yeah so i guess we
- 45:53went smear instead of not smear all right
- 46:03I read some bad news today.
- 46:05If you're a feast of coffee fan.
- 46:08Oh, so I wanted to share this.
- 46:10I just came out this morning.
- 46:12I think she wrote a post on Instagram
- 46:16saying she hated to share this,
- 46:18but she is not doing the twenty twenty
- 46:20six CrossFit game season because she is
- 46:24injured.
- 46:26If you watched Copenhagen in the WFP,
- 46:30she was unable to do some of the
- 46:31events.
- 46:32It was due to,
- 46:33I'm going to go to the injury
- 46:36specifically.
- 46:37Start right there.
- 46:41Well, this is talking about the WFP.
- 46:44The injury was a great decision,
- 46:48so I decided to compete.
- 46:50MRI revealed a partial thickness tear of
- 46:53the supraspinatus rotator cuff tendon and
- 47:00a slap tear of the left shoulder.
- 47:03So she is now in the process of
- 47:05rehabbing.
- 47:06However,
- 47:07what is cool is she still signed up
- 47:09for the Open.
- 47:09Yeah.
- 47:11And she's going to do the open as
- 47:13part of her community and be humble about
- 47:18it and know what she can and can't
- 47:20do.
- 47:21And she said probably scale some of it.
- 47:25But she's going to sign up for the
- 47:26open and do it,
- 47:27which I thought was a really cool
- 47:28statement in all of this.
- 47:34She says here, the next time I compete,
- 47:36we're making sure that we are strong,
- 47:38healthy, and most importantly,
- 47:40competing through a weekend safely.
- 47:45This will be my first season in seven
- 47:46years that I will not be making the
- 47:48chase to get back to the CrossFit Games,
- 47:50and it's exposed me emotionally and
- 47:51spiritually in more ways than I ever
- 47:53expected.
- 47:54I'm hopeful that it'll be an incredible
- 47:56year of new growth and opportunities and
- 47:58reconnect.
- 48:00I will still be taking part in the
- 48:01CrossFit Games Open with my community
- 48:03testing what I can and keeping humility in
- 48:06the things that I might require scaling.
- 48:11Just because we are starting the season
- 48:12different doesn't mean we can't make it
- 48:14beautiful.
- 48:17So I thought it was a cool way
- 48:19to kind of wrap it up and ended
- 48:20up that she made it perfectly clear that
- 48:24while she cannot compete to get to the
- 48:27games,
- 48:28she is going to sign up for the
- 48:29Open and still do it with her community,
- 48:31which I thought was super, super cool.
- 48:34God bless her, dude.
- 48:38I can't imagine, right?
- 48:40Her entire identity, self,
- 48:42whatever you want to call it.
- 48:43I say entire, right?
- 48:45professional identity is tied up in making
- 48:47the games and trying to be the fittest
- 48:49on earth.
- 48:50And then now you got to take a
- 48:52year off and she's in her prime dude.
- 48:54Like she is fit.
- 48:58Several days.
- 48:59She was fitter than she's ever been.
- 49:01Absolutely.
- 49:02She was performing in ways that she had
- 49:05never performed in the past.
- 49:08And, uh,
- 49:09that's gotta be heartbreaking for her.
- 49:11I can't imagine.
- 49:12As someone that I know personally and have
- 49:14grown to love, she is amazing.
- 49:19I just want her to be good through
- 49:20this.
- 49:21Listen,
- 49:22I'm doing the Open differently this year.
- 49:23I don't know what I'm going to be
- 49:25capable of.
- 49:25I'm going through all of this stuff in
- 49:28my nose and my breathing,
- 49:30but I'm going to do it.
- 49:31I signed up.
- 49:31I'm going to do it,
- 49:32and I need to be humble like her
- 49:34and realize there are just things I'm not
- 49:36going to be able to do,
- 49:38but I'll do the best I can with
- 49:39what I got.
- 49:41That's all you can do.
- 49:42Chase did the same thing a couple of
- 49:43years ago when he had his shoulder
- 49:44surgery.
- 49:45He signed up and he did everything in
- 49:49the one arm category,
- 49:51whatever it was for adaptive.
- 49:52Do you remember that?
- 49:53Like that was,
- 49:55it was fun to follow along and see.
- 49:57So like you do what you can with
- 49:59what you have.
- 50:02Even if you're not,
- 50:03even if you have both good working arms
- 50:05and both, like everything,
- 50:06you're still working with what you got.
- 50:09It doesn't matter.
- 50:10Right?
- 50:11That's the beautiful thing about CrossFit
- 50:12is that you get out what you put
- 50:14in.
- 50:17Yeah.
- 50:17So you're going to work with what you
- 50:18got no matter what and bless her for
- 50:20even though, you know,
- 50:21she might not be able to do the
- 50:22stuff she wants to do,
- 50:23but she's going to do whatever she can
- 50:24do.
- 50:27That's a beautiful way to look at it.
- 50:29Good for her.
- 50:30I don't know how long it's been since
- 50:31I've shared this story,
- 50:32but when I was first into the media
- 50:33and I, you know, I didn't,
- 50:35there was a lot of times I didn't
- 50:36feel I belonged in the media.
- 50:38You know, I, I jumped in and,
- 50:40and did whatever.
- 50:41And we were at the games fee was
- 50:43on the demo team.
- 50:45And we got access to go out to
- 50:47the pit for the first time ever.
- 50:49And so I go down under the Coliseum
- 50:52in Madison, and I'm looking around,
- 50:54and there's all these games athletes,
- 50:56the demo team sitting on some sandbags,
- 50:59and I'm going out to the pit,
- 51:01and imposter syndrome is hitting me very,
- 51:04very hard.
- 51:04I understand.
- 51:06And Fi comes running over and jumps up
- 51:08and gives me a big hug and was
- 51:11like, I'm so glad to see you.
- 51:13And it just took all that imposter
- 51:15syndrome away.
- 51:17Like she said, Hey,
- 51:19I'm so glad to see you.
- 51:20You belong here.
- 51:21And it just took all the rest of
- 51:23it away.
- 51:24And because of that,
- 51:25like I know fee sign that letter and
- 51:31all that kind of stuff,
- 51:32but I will always have a special place
- 51:34in my heart because she did that for
- 51:37me.
- 51:38And she's,
- 51:39she was the first person to come out
- 51:40and talk to Dave and she did all
- 51:43that stuff.
- 51:43She did the open last year.
- 51:45She did not sit out the season and,
- 51:48And so I give her credit for all
- 51:49that too.
- 51:53I couldn't have said it any better.
- 51:54Yeah,
- 51:55she signed a letter and then came back
- 51:56out and said she regretted signing the
- 51:57letter and talked to Dave.
- 52:00She's about as real as it gets, dude.
- 52:03Yeah.
- 52:03About as real as it gets.
- 52:05So, yeah.
- 52:08Hopefully she will find her way through
- 52:11the season and we'll see her back and
- 52:12better than ever next year.
- 52:15The last thing, and again,
- 52:17it'll probably be more of a conversation
- 52:18for tomorrow because we're really going
- 52:19long.
- 52:21The Olympics start tomorrow.
- 52:25My question to everybody,
- 52:26and think about this,
- 52:29think about this over the next day,
- 52:32and we'll talk about it tomorrow.
- 52:34Are you hyped for the Olympics?
- 52:37I am jazzed for the Olympics, Scott.
- 52:39You are jet.
- 52:40Yeah.
- 52:46Oh, Jenny says Luca finished.
- 52:50Overall, they just announced he signed.
- 52:52So that's three who must have declined at
- 52:55a minimum.
- 52:56Let's add at a minimum.
- 52:57Yeah.
- 52:57Okay.
- 53:03I'll put it to you like this, Scott,
- 53:04as far as that living is concerned.
- 53:07Last night, I went on YouTube TV,
- 53:10went to my recording,
- 53:12whatever you want to call it.
- 53:13I set all of the curling to record
- 53:15because me and my wife watch curling like
- 53:17it's our job.
- 53:19All of the snowboard stuff because that
- 53:21stuff's cool to watch.
- 53:24And then whatever else we see that might
- 53:26catch our fancy,
- 53:27we might add that to it later on.
- 53:30But it starts today.
- 53:32Like there's curling going on today.
- 53:35The opening ceremony is just tomorrow.
- 53:39Yeah.
- 53:40Yeah.
- 53:41Yeah.
- 53:41When I was a kid,
- 53:42like I remember being even more hyped,
- 53:44right?
- 53:45One, my main sport was an Olympic sport.
- 53:48So the Summer Olympics were very big for
- 53:49me.
- 53:50Hell yeah.
- 53:51But I find now that like I get
- 53:54Olympic fatigue in week two.
- 53:58where I get hyped that I get to
- 53:59see the stuff I don't normally see.
- 54:01I do like curling.
- 54:03I do like the half pipe.
- 54:05I do like when the snowboarders are going
- 54:07down the hill at five hundred miles an
- 54:09hour,
- 54:09jumping off the houses and all that stuff.
- 54:14I love downhill skiing.
- 54:18And so I get into like all the
- 54:20new stuff that I don't normally see.
- 54:23But I find myself as I get older,
- 54:25more second week fatigue.
- 54:28Yeah.
- 54:30And then you wear us off, right?
- 54:32Cool, curly.
- 54:33And you watch like four matches and you're
- 54:34like, all right,
- 54:35that's probably enough of that.
- 54:36And the snowboarding,
- 54:38the snowboarding for me is a little bit
- 54:39easier to get into because various people
- 54:41doing various different tricks and
- 54:42whatnot.
- 54:43I mean, it's,
- 54:44the scoring is a lot more subjective,
- 54:46right?
- 54:46It's kind of, hey, what can you do?
- 54:48What can't you do?
- 54:49The racing obviously is objective because
- 54:51it's just how fast can you get down
- 54:52the side of this mountain?
- 54:54I never understood the luge.
- 54:56Because you're literally just on a sled,
- 55:01basically, just going down this ice chute.
- 55:03It's the skeleton where you're going
- 55:04headfirst that really boggles my mind.
- 55:08That's what we did every day as a
- 55:09kid, though,
- 55:10like going down the side hill.
- 55:12You could tie a dead person to a
- 55:15luge,
- 55:16and they'd probably still do pretty good,
- 55:18right?
- 55:19Because you just sling them down the thing
- 55:20and call it...
- 55:22I do think there's some steering.
- 55:24Maybe.
- 55:27Maybe.
- 55:29But even that,
- 55:30that's kind of fun to watch.
- 55:31But yeah, I get it.
- 55:33After the second week,
- 55:34maybe sometime around the third,
- 55:35you're like, okay.
- 55:39Anyway,
- 55:40we'll talk about this more tomorrow.
- 55:42Chattanooga grew up in Alaska and has a
- 55:44special love for the Olympics.
- 55:46I want to go back to a little
- 55:49bit of the Fee stuff and then we'll
- 55:50call it a day.
- 55:52Fee was cool as hell at the games.
- 55:54She took a few minutes several times
- 55:55throughout that weekend to say, hey,
- 55:57ask if we were enjoying everything.
- 55:59She just is that person.
- 56:02Chattanooga,
- 56:03one hundred percent how you handle
- 56:04something you regret.
- 56:04So, yeah, exactly.
- 56:08And
- 56:11Ortega asks their steering.
- 56:12Come on.
- 56:14Ortega,
- 56:15you've never been on a runner sled in
- 56:16your life.
- 56:20Anyway, with that,
- 56:23we'll talk about more Olympics tomorrow.
- 56:25We'll talk about more of all this WFP
- 56:26stuff.
- 56:27I'm sure they're releasing more signees
- 56:29and we'll get a better picture as to
- 56:31where they stand.
- 56:33How the hell they're getting fifty.
- 56:36How the hell they're getting fifty.
- 56:37I have no idea.
- 56:38But we'll see.
- 56:39I am curious to find out though.
- 56:42With that, man,
- 56:45I took my third Z last night.
- 56:46It took me literally like ten seconds to
- 56:48fall out.
- 56:50I was so tired last night when I
- 56:52took it out.
- 56:53I went,
- 56:53I did not wake up until this morning.
- 56:55It was great.
- 56:56My sleep stats from last night were
- 56:57fantastic as well.
- 56:58Like over an hour of deep,
- 57:02like an hour and a half of REM
- 57:03sleep, which is amazing in and of itself.
- 57:06Did not have to get up to go
- 57:07pee in the middle of the night.
- 57:08Always a plus.
- 57:09Yeah.
- 57:12Use code Jazzy at checkout.
- 57:14Get fifteen percent off your order and go
- 57:16to thirty.com backslash Jazzy.
- 57:18With that,
- 57:19Ortega was on a bobsled once and he
- 57:22was scared as F.
- 57:25People also want to hear how your monster
- 57:27games is going tomorrow.
- 57:28So we'll put that on the docket if
- 57:30you're here.
- 57:34Funny to hear Corey talk about winter
- 57:35sports.
- 57:35Have you seen snow in the last two
- 57:39years?
- 57:40We got over a foot last year.
- 57:44I mean, just once.
- 57:45But it lasted for about a week before
- 57:48it actually finally all melted away.
- 57:51So with that, guys,
- 57:51thank you so much for jumping on today.
- 57:55Even got a little mini smear campaign riff
- 57:58out of the deal.
- 57:58With that,
- 58:00we will check everybody tomorrow.
- 58:02See everybody then on lunch with the
- 58:05Clydesdale.
- 58:05Bye.
