- 0:00Speaker 1: What does Vegas think of the Eagle skill position players?
- 0:04Speaker 1: Take a look right now. Yesterday we discussed, you know
- 0:07Speaker 1: what we had heard about Jalen Hurts having a really
- 0:11Speaker 1: good tie with Sean Manning. He likes the principles of
- 0:15Speaker 1: this offense. So what will that mean for his status
- 0:19Speaker 1: this season, his stats this season? Let's bring it. Adam
- 0:21Speaker 1: Kaplan from the Inside the BYRDS Podcast. I guess him
- 0:24Speaker 1: and Sean Manning are getting along pretty good.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I mean, I saw that report from ESPN, but I
- 0:29Speaker 2: just caution people. They haven't Hurts usn't practiced yet, so
- 0:32Speaker 2: let's just relax. It's good. I mean, what's happening is
- 0:37Speaker 2: they've talked. This is my underting they've talked. Hurts knows
- 0:40Speaker 2: exactly what's coming in terms of schematics, he knows what
- 0:42Speaker 2: it's going to look like, but he'sn't practiced in it yet.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I would go back to two years ago and our
- 0:46Speaker 2: reporter on Kellen Moore, Jalen was really interested, like he
- 0:50Speaker 2: knew that everything was going to change, like he In fact,
- 0:52Speaker 2: he came out with that was a major exaggeration. He
- 0:56Speaker 2: said ninety percent of it was changing, which you know,
- 0:59Speaker 2: the Eagles found that was not They just felt like
- 1:02Speaker 2: that was a little bit of an overstated number percentage.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But look, it sounded great. We sell in training camp
- 1:09Speaker 2: it looked phenomenal. Hurts actually looked good in training camp
- 1:12Speaker 2: with the new scheme with Kellam Moore, the great week
- 1:15Speaker 2: one against the Packers in Brazil Mic and then as
- 1:17Speaker 2: you know, it started against Atlanta and for most of
- 1:21Speaker 2: the season they're past. The game was not very good.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It was majorly disappointing. Yet somehow they won a super Bowl.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So we'll see what happens. Mike, I'm very bullish on
- 1:30Speaker 2: Manny and everything. I actually talked to a coach who
- 1:32Speaker 2: knows him. He said, if it doesn't work, it's not
- 1:35Speaker 2: because of him. He said, well, because they're not buying
- 1:38Speaker 2: in or they're not understanding what they're expected to do.
- 1:42Speaker 2: This is what the off season practices are for. Then
- 1:45Speaker 2: as we get into training camp, we'll see what it
- 1:47Speaker 2: looks like. But I'm actually optimistic about it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: All right, Well, I think a lot of people are
- 1:50Speaker 1: very intrigued on what could happen here. Let's see what
- 1:53Speaker 1: Vegas thinks, Adam Kaplan. You know at Jalen Hurts has
- 1:56Speaker 1: been at some points. He has been the favorite to
- 1:59Speaker 1: win MVP. He's a couple of years ago, at least
- 2:01Speaker 1: by some sports books, he's been in the top five
- 2:04Speaker 1: area for odds. Where is he sitting at right now?
- 2:08Speaker 2: All right, so as we speak currently, this is interesting.
- 2:12Speaker 2: He's right there exactly the same as bo Nicks. He's
- 2:16Speaker 2: plus thirty five hundred. Jared Goff, who someone says a
- 2:20Speaker 2: better panswer than Hurts, but Hurts might be overall if
- 2:22Speaker 2: you take everything to that counts a better football player.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Jared Goff is plus four thousand. Baker Mayfield plus five thousand.
- 2:30Speaker 2: How about this is ridiculous. This guy might not even start.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Tyler Murray's plus five thousand, Like, I don't know what
- 2:37Speaker 2: the odds make of that. That's the I would think
- 2:39Speaker 2: outs would be ten thousand to win MVP, but no,
- 2:42Speaker 2: they only see this plus five thousand.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So plus thirty five hundred for Hurts. Okay, I think
- 2:47Speaker 1: you could throw a couple bucks there if you're really,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, looking forward to what Seawn Manning can do
- 2:52Speaker 1: to change Jaaling. Let me ask you this before we
- 2:54Speaker 1: move on to what is Jalen Hurts his rushing gonna
- 2:59Speaker 1: look like in this okay.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I you know, I look for that because it's
- 3:02Speaker 2: not out yet. They don't have that that out yet.
- 3:05Speaker 2: But this is what our understanding was at the time
- 3:08Speaker 2: that Menu was hired. As I told you, Mike, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I was probably on with you within a day or
- 3:13Speaker 2: so after he got hired, and I said, look, it's
- 3:15Speaker 2: going to be a complete West Coast offense. It's nothing
- 3:17Speaker 2: that they've run here. Quarterbacks are going to be under
- 3:20Speaker 2: centered more way more. We don't know. It can't give
- 3:22Speaker 2: you a percentage. You still can't. It's impossible to do that.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You're going to see a slot receiver, which ironically, who
- 3:28Speaker 2: do they they draft Mackay Lemon, and you're gonna see
- 3:32Speaker 2: pre stapp motion a lot more of it. We'll we'll well,
- 3:34Speaker 2: you know, also we'll get a better idea. But in
- 3:36Speaker 2: terms of running, it's a great question. I can't answer that.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I don't know how much more he's going to run.
- 3:42Speaker 2: You know, last year was surprising, but they didn't like it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Just he's not running as much as we thought he would.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Well, and Jenn and I talked yesterday about how much
- 3:50Speaker 1: more they probably going to go under center a lot
- 3:52Speaker 1: more play action. You wonder how much that, Uh, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: a lot of his rushing were off of design runs
- 3:58Speaker 1: or r pos.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Right, well, if you might, if you look at just
- 4:03Speaker 2: go back to really twenty twenty two, Mike, in twenty
- 4:08Speaker 2: twenty one off RPOs, especially when Shane Stecken took over,
- 4:13Speaker 2: He's like, Okay, this is what's gonna have to happen
- 4:15Speaker 2: if we're gonna win. And it worked. It worked in
- 4:18Speaker 2: twenty one when he took over. They became a running team.
- 4:21Speaker 2: In twenty two, their passing game was great off of
- 4:24Speaker 2: the run. You know, whether it's Hurts or whoever else
- 4:28Speaker 2: they had in there, it just it works. So in
- 4:31Speaker 2: for fantasy it absolutely impacts it. But I'm going to
- 4:35Speaker 2: tell you this, Mike, and I know I seem to
- 4:37Speaker 2: be in the minority. As we discussed on our inside
- 4:41Speaker 2: the Burchhoes with Jeff and I is that you know,
- 4:44Speaker 2: I've asked a lot of people around the league, what
- 4:45Speaker 2: do you think? What do you know? And it's a
- 4:47Speaker 2: lot of thumbs down. Not on the OC. It's whether
- 4:51Speaker 2: Hurts could be successful in a timing based offense.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Is the RPO gone? And we think we're gonna not
- 4:56Speaker 1: see that.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We might I mean, we might see some of it,
- 4:59Speaker 2: but my see, the thing is we can't put a
- 5:02Speaker 2: percentage on anything because they don't even know they know
- 5:05Speaker 2: they're going to run it. They know they're gonna run
- 5:06Speaker 2: the quarterback under center way more. And look, it's play
- 5:12Speaker 2: action generally, and Greg Costell told us this Greg Greg
- 5:15Speaker 2: Flomas tape study works way better visually when the quarterbacks
- 5:20Speaker 2: under center when they're opposed to when they're on the shotgun.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So let's see what happened to Mike. I just can't
- 5:26Speaker 2: wait because I remember my course of my career whenever
- 5:29Speaker 2: they've changed offenses with this team. When Ship Kelly came in,
- 5:33Speaker 2: seeing the first practices in May in May of thirteen,
- 5:36Speaker 2: I was like, wow, this is great. When Doug Petersen
- 5:41Speaker 2: came in, they run what's called a spread West coast,
- 5:43Speaker 2: heavy eleven personnel. That was very interesting. And then with
- 5:48Speaker 2: Kevin Batulo changed obviously, Brian Johnson had a spin on
- 5:52Speaker 2: Serrianna's scheme. With Syrianna, you didn't quite know. But then
- 5:56Speaker 2: then here with Kellen Moore. It's very excited because I
- 5:59Speaker 2: know Kellen will a little bit, so I kind of
- 6:01Speaker 2: knew what he wanted to run and he didn't really
- 6:03Speaker 2: wind up running any We're close overall to what he
- 6:06Speaker 2: wanted to run. But here we go. You got a
- 6:08Speaker 2: young play caller thirty three years old, Mike, He's he's
- 6:12Speaker 2: only been in coaching three years. So this could go
- 6:14Speaker 2: for variety of ways. But I'm choosing the high road.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I might be in the minority, but I just believe
- 6:19Speaker 2: it's actually gonna work.
- 6:20Speaker 1: All Right, I agree with you. I'm well, I'm yes.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a more fluid offense
- 6:27Speaker 1: than we have seen the last couple of season. Let's
- 6:29Speaker 1: just say that it's been so close.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's a little different. But you have to have buy in,
- 6:35Speaker 2: and the thing is one thing before we move on
- 6:37Speaker 2: to look these odds. Buying comes with command. That's a
- 6:42Speaker 2: coaching term. We don't know about Sean Manning and the
- 6:45Speaker 2: buy in factor. It all sounds great, Mike. We're in May,
- 6:48Speaker 2: we're not in August. We don't know if you could
- 6:51Speaker 2: connect well enough and get these guys to buy in.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Because remember, it's not Nick Sirianni scheme. Trust me, it
- 6:57Speaker 2: has nothing to do with Sirianni. It's all about Sean
- 7:00Speaker 2: Manning going forward here, all right.
- 7:02Speaker 1: What about Lemon. All right, he is the first round pick.
- 7:04Speaker 1: People are excited. What does Vegas think about McKay Lemon's
- 7:09Speaker 1: rookie season.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, offensive Rookie of the Year plus eleven hundred. I
- 7:13Speaker 2: think that's See. Here's the thing they don't have, well
- 7:17Speaker 2: they actually do. They don't have his reception total out
- 7:19Speaker 2: and we'll get to that in a second. I am
- 7:22Speaker 2: really bullsh of mkaye Lemon because every West Coast offense
- 7:26Speaker 2: features they feature to some extent an inside or a
- 7:30Speaker 2: slot receiver. Mkayle Lemon is going to be the main
- 7:33Speaker 2: slot receiver. In fact, they really have not had a
- 7:35Speaker 2: true slot in years. The s why they drafted mkaye
- 7:39Speaker 2: Lemon for this offense, and he's going to fit in great.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I kind of look, it's going to be hard. It's
- 7:45Speaker 2: going to be hard for him to win it. There're
- 7:48Speaker 2: gonna be plenty of other players and we'll talk more
- 7:49Speaker 2: about these. We have plenty of time now in May
- 7:52Speaker 2: and June to talk about the other candidates and we'll
- 7:54Speaker 2: talk about we'll talk about the fantasy props too, But
- 7:58Speaker 2: for Lemon finishing him off the over under receiving ards,
- 8:02Speaker 2: it's funny my number Okay, I'm doing some projections would
- 8:05Speaker 2: have been seven hundred. They've got it six fifty point
- 8:08Speaker 2: five the over and the owners minus one ten. So
- 8:11Speaker 2: for every one ten you bet because you have to,
- 8:15Speaker 2: it's the juices. The extra ten bucks you get your
- 8:18Speaker 2: bet back plus one hundred. If you lose, obviously you
- 8:19Speaker 2: lose one hundred and ten dollars. I kind of like
- 8:22Speaker 2: the over, I'm see. The thing is like, I can't
- 8:25Speaker 2: wait to see what they have for hurts, for passing
- 8:28Speaker 2: tempts per game. They probably won't have that for a while.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I mean, is he Is he going to be over thirty? No?
- 8:34Speaker 2: But I got a thick in the high twenties. I
- 8:36Speaker 2: just can't. I The other thing is, Mike, will they
- 8:39Speaker 2: ever be a great running team again after what happened
- 8:42Speaker 2: last year?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Well let's do what Vegas things on that coming up here,
- 8:46Speaker 1: Goon Barkley, what is the rushing yard over under?
- 8:52Speaker 2: I love this Over two years ago. I loved it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: It actually hit like nine games in. I justticularly remember
- 9:00Speaker 2: talking to Scott Farrell in Sports Grid. We were going
- 9:02Speaker 2: to all the fantasy props. That was my number one
- 9:04Speaker 2: favorite one. Last year, I I was wrong. Who could
- 9:09Speaker 2: have seen what happened. This is the This is when
- 9:11Speaker 2: we say it's a year to year league. Mike, Who
- 9:12Speaker 2: could have thought the Eagles had the worst run blocking
- 9:16Speaker 2: O line in the National Football League? I just it
- 9:19Speaker 2: could have made that up. They had the best year before.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I don't know. I did we know they break down
- 9:24Speaker 2: physically like they did. No way to know that. But
- 9:27Speaker 2: so the over undertotal is eleven hundred point five. I
- 9:33Speaker 2: see fourteen there. It's going to start with a run.
- 9:36Speaker 2: That's my understanding. It's not going to change. How could
- 9:41Speaker 2: they be worse, Mike than last year? How could they
- 9:43Speaker 2: possibly be worse running football?
- 9:44Speaker 1: I don't think you could be worse. And you're hoping
- 9:47Speaker 1: that your offensive line is healthier?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, healthier? Right, I agree, it's got to be healthier.
- 9:52Speaker 2: How could think about it? Lane Johnson Okay hurt for
- 9:55Speaker 2: a big portion of the season, Landon Dickerson hurt the
- 9:58Speaker 2: entire season. Cam Jurgen's hurt the entire season. How could
- 10:00Speaker 2: they be any worse physically?
- 10:03Speaker 1: I hope not because that would be a brutal situation. Again,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I mean, you know, if you can't if they offen
- 10:08Speaker 1: the line is what it was last year? We will
- 10:10Speaker 1: be having some interesting conversations.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Will not be good. He's good for anyone.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Right, let's go to the Offensive Player of the year,
- 10:19Speaker 1: because this throws in everybody.
- 10:21Speaker 2: All right, hurts plus eight thousand. Remember as the MVP,
- 10:27Speaker 2: it's different. MVP is the most valuable player to his team.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Offensive Player of the Year is more of a stats
- 10:32Speaker 2: oriented deal, and it hurts his plus eight thousand. Barkley,
- 10:37Speaker 2: this is interesting, Mike, He's only plus fifteen hundred. Now again,
- 10:42Speaker 2: it is stat oriented for Barklay. Look, if he goes
- 10:46Speaker 2: for eighteen hundred tough two thousand yards, he's not hitting
- 10:48Speaker 2: two thousand yards, No chance it happens. But well, let's
- 10:51Speaker 2: say he goes sivteen hundred yards. He's in the conversation
- 10:54Speaker 2: for Offensive Player of the Year. Now, this one's comical
- 10:57Speaker 2: because he's gone to He's going to New England. AJ Brown, Okay,
- 11:02Speaker 2: that's going to happen. Okay, that's my understanding is that's
- 11:05Speaker 2: the way that Patriots are operating. AJ believes he's gone,
- 11:08Speaker 2: as I understand it, so buying a surprise, a shock,
- 11:12Speaker 2: He's going to be a Patriot. Well, are the odds
- 11:15Speaker 2: makers not buying into that? Because he's plus five thousand.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Now if by a minor miracle he's back with the Eagles,
- 11:22Speaker 2: there are too many mouths defeat in the pass can
- 11:24Speaker 2: I don't see how it will work. But with the
- 11:26Speaker 2: Patriots he'd be their number one past target. So I'll
- 11:29Speaker 2: be very interesting to see on June second, when this
- 11:31Speaker 2: trade should go down. Does it go down to plus
- 11:35Speaker 2: three thousand plus four thousand, We'll see. And by the way,
- 11:39Speaker 2: DeVante Smith, who will lead them in pass targets plus
- 11:44Speaker 2: fifteen thousand to be Offensive Player of the Year. He's
- 11:48Speaker 2: so grit. Why does he not get the national recognition?
- 11:51Speaker 2: Devanteah never understand me.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Maybe this will be the year when he's the kind
- 11:54Speaker 1: of the guy by himself.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, fairpoint, fairpoint. And then finally Defensive Player of
- 11:59Speaker 2: the Year. Now Jon Carter is coming off of two
- 12:02Speaker 2: bad shoulders. He's plus twenty five hundred for DPOY. This
- 12:06Speaker 2: one's fascinating. This one I would take Mike. I'll put
- 12:09Speaker 2: down a hundred bucks and get sixty six hundred back.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Cooper jjeen plus sixty six hundred. He's so special in
- 12:16Speaker 2: his role. Mic. You know what the word has gotten out.
- 12:20Speaker 2: It's not a seagull fans or the reporters locally. It's
- 12:23Speaker 2: got around around the league. How special this kid is
- 12:26Speaker 2: as a super freak athlete. Why not? And then this
- 12:29Speaker 2: other guy. You'll hear us talk about this tomorrow. We
- 12:32Speaker 2: drop our inside backer, as Vic Fangio calls him. He
- 12:36Speaker 2: refused to call. He refuses to call him off the
- 12:38Speaker 2: ball linebackers. He refuses to call a nickel defender a
- 12:42Speaker 2: nickel corner. He will not call him that. He calls
- 12:43Speaker 2: him nickel. It took me like a year and a
- 12:46Speaker 2: half to finally give in and call him just Nichols.
- 12:48Speaker 2: But Zach Bonn is plus twelve twelve five hundred mike
- 12:53Speaker 2: way more of a long shot. He's another one where
- 12:56Speaker 2: people just the league doesn't like. If you talk to
- 13:00Speaker 2: coaches around the league that they buy in and personnal
- 13:02Speaker 2: people that go, he's really a good football player. But
- 13:05Speaker 2: the national media doesn't really follows that bond. It seems, yeah, he.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Was, you know in that conversation a couple of years ago. Uh, dies,
- 13:12Speaker 1: he will be the interesting one, yeah, you know, because
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know obviously he's I'm assuming he will be there there. Well,
- 13:19Speaker 1: they don't like to call him Nickel, but he'll be
- 13:21Speaker 1: the inside slot.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Corner is nickel. They call him nickel, that's what it is.
- 13:26Speaker 2: He doesn't call him corner. It's slot. I think Vic
- 13:29Speaker 2: did once. I do distinctly remember him saying slot. He's
- 13:33Speaker 2: only said at once. He calls him nickel. It's just
- 13:37Speaker 2: really funny. He's so old school. It will But but
- 13:40Speaker 2: to his point, though, if you look at the personnel
- 13:43Speaker 2: usage right, the way that he uses him, and he's
- 13:45Speaker 2: really what personal people call it, dynamics, dynamic slot, the
- 13:48Speaker 2: most athletics nicol slash slot defender in the league. I
- 13:51Speaker 2: didn't say corner. Vic refuses to call him that because
- 13:55Speaker 2: what he says is Corner is an outside player. That's it. Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and Nickel is an inside player, though you move him around.
- 14:04Speaker 2: See this is where I don't agree with Fangio. He's
- 14:06Speaker 2: a coverage player. He's moved around for coverage purposes. VIC
- 14:10Speaker 2: won't acknowledge that, but he knows that better than anyone listening.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So I'm a little bit surprised he says that. But hey,
- 14:14Speaker 2: it's all good.
- 14:15Speaker 1: But he's not a safety. No.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's funny, Mike, they're not. Their plans
- 14:21Speaker 2: were not to play him there, but if they don't
- 14:24Speaker 2: get that safety by the end of their offseason program,
- 14:30Speaker 2: at the end of the mandatory camp, I'm not rolling
- 14:32Speaker 2: anything out. At least see some snaps there. Maybe crosstream
- 14:34Speaker 2: a little bit. They cross tream. They haven't played with
- 14:37Speaker 2: Nickel yet. They haven't even they haven't even trained him there.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Michael Carter is the guy we we nailed, you know.
- 14:42Speaker 2: We said when they trade it for him, he's going
- 14:44Speaker 2: to get crosstrated safety. People thought we were crazy. He
- 14:46Speaker 2: wound up doing that. Michael Carter is their in house
- 14:49Speaker 2: candidate to play safety for the start. I'ms Macoba, but
- 14:53Speaker 2: they got a long waves to go. I put that
- 14:55Speaker 2: in pencils certainly all right.

- 15:03Speaker 1: Thanks Adam.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Thanks
