- 0:24Thank you again to everyone that supports Grand Touring Motorsports,
- 0:27our podcast, Brake Fix, and all the other services we provide.
- 0:34The drive through is our monthly recap where we've put together a menu of local,
- 0:38racing, and random car adjacent news.
- 0:41Now let's pull up to window number one for some holiday shopping news.
- 0:45This month, we're taking our traditional holiday shopping article and bringing
- 0:49it to you in the form of a podcast.
- 0:52That's right!
- 0:53It's that time of year again, to answer the age old question.
- 0:57What do you want for the holidays?
- 1:00Most of the time, we've already bought what we needed throughout the season.
- 1:03But your loved ones really want to get you that something.
- 1:07So what do you get for the enthusiast that already has all their toys?
- 1:12You know, Tanya, it's an extremely difficult thing to do, putting
- 1:16this list together year after year.
- 1:18And it's a tradition here at GTM that we do this.
- 1:21And I tell you what, I think I've been listening to Mariah Carey sing
- 1:24about Christmas since about Halloween.
- 1:26What do you think?
- 1:28I quickly turn the radio channel off when the Christmas music is playing
- 1:32because it is not past Thanksgiving yet.
- 1:34And so here we are, if you're listening to this episode on its air date, just
- 1:39after you stuffed yourself with turkey and getting ready for these Black Friday
- 1:44day sales and preparing for holiday shopping, some last minute scramble.
- 1:48So what do you get?
- 1:50For the automotive enthusiast that has it all cash because he's bound to have some
- 1:55broken car part that needs replacing.
- 1:57There's always that option.
- 1:59That is a great way to start off any holiday shopping guide cash
- 2:03people cash cash cash is king.
- 2:06Speaking of cash.
- 2:08It wouldn't be a drive through episode if we didn't kick off with.
- 2:11Rich people doing rich people thangs.
- 2:14You didn't say that right.
- 2:15Rich people doing rich people thangs.
- 2:17Doing rich people thangs.
- 2:18I mean, I think we can just read this headline and then move on.
- 2:22Now there's a licensed three quarter size Ferrari 250 Testarossa.
- 2:26For fancy kids, how much does this thing sell for?
- 2:30That's what we want to know.
- 2:30It's up there with the Bugatti baby too.
- 2:33It's up there with that Aston Martin, James Bond thing.
- 2:35What are we talking about?
- 2:36Price wise?
- 2:37I'm just curious.
- 2:38We are talking about for a whopping 37 miles an hour.
- 2:43It is so expensive.
- 2:44They don't list the price in the article.
- 2:46That's a Ferrari.
- 2:46Of course you only pay for the best.
- 2:48No, my baby too is on order.
- 2:51Is there a baby three, three?
- 2:52No, what are we talking about?
- 2:55No, this actually is.
- 2:57But it's actually not really rich people doing rich people things
- 3:00because this is a one off build that I think is going to go up on auction.
- 3:04So, I guess a rich person will buy it.
- 3:07But it is a small sized replica of a Porsche 917.
- 3:1330.
- 3:14That's the Can Am, Porsche, Audi, blue, yellow, liveried, 917.
- 3:19Correct.
- 3:20And essentially, it's a go kart with the 917 body on it.
- 3:25I like it.
- 3:25That sounds way better than the Bugatti Baby 2.
- 3:30And you know what got me about this article?
- 3:32It made me think for a minute, like if you could put a body like this on
- 3:35a go kart, how cool would it be To have a race that's like a mini IMSA
- 3:42or WEC where you're in a go kart that looks like a legendary race car.
- 3:46Think about how awesome that would be.
- 3:49This sounds like the Power Wheels races.
- 3:53Well, for this, I actually think you're onto something with the Uh,
- 3:58go kart racing of these classic liveried and classic bodied vehicles.
- 4:02And I think if Dr.
- 4:03T and race are listening to this episode, there's a business model
- 4:07in here that you should tap into.
- 4:09This is an untapped market.
- 4:11Can you imagine?
- 4:12It'd be bonkers.
- 4:12And I heard a guy talking the other day about how he was going to.
- 4:16Purchased the option package for his Tesla so that it could
- 4:20sound like a hemi challenger while he was going down the road.
- 4:22Apparently they mount these speakers and they can like project the sound.
- 4:26So it sounds like something else.
- 4:28And I'm like, put that on the go kart.
- 4:30So it doesn't sound like a weed whacker.
- 4:31Can you imagine being like a Ferrari three 33 SP replica mini?
- 4:35And it sounds like you got a screaming V 12 boom mental.
- 4:40I would, I would love this.
- 4:41I'm on board.
- 4:41Sign me up.
- 4:42Ever wonder.
- 4:43If you could outrun a police pursuit, this one pulls at my
- 4:51ascended button pretty hard.
- 4:53You won't have to wonder for very long if that police is a Tesla.
- 4:57Brah!
- 4:58Or an ID3 or whatever.
- 4:59Yeah, or any electric vehicle.
- 5:02But now your wish can come true because in the United Kingdom, you can pay to try.
- 5:07So wait a second.
- 5:09And the very next subtitle to this article is It's you and a Porsche
- 5:15Boxster or Mazda Miata versus a law enforcement Dodge Charger, GTFO.
- 5:22Right?
- 5:23That's what I said.
- 5:24A Miata versus a Dodge Charger.
- 5:27On a racetrack.
- 5:29On a highway.
- 5:30Different problem.
- 5:32On a racetrack.
- 5:33First off ramp and then Miata would be gone.
- 5:35But here's the deal.
- 5:36Let's give you the bluff, right?
- 5:38The bottom line up front.
- 5:39An hour and a half, Includes the introductions to the basics, right?
- 5:43So they're assuming people don't have track time, whatever.
- 5:46So they go over safety, racing lines, throttle and braking, typical HPDE
- 5:50and HPDC type of stuff, testing on the track, getting familiar.
- 5:54And then you get to choose between the Boxster or the Miata.
- 5:58I would personally choose the Boxster knowing what Miata's are like.
- 6:01No offense to Miata lovers.
- 6:02Just saying I'm in a police pursuit.
- 6:04I think I want the Porsche.
- 6:06Yes, it's a 15 minute police pursuit.
- 6:08So think about it as a shortened track session and you're being chased by
- 6:12a Dodge Charger in your attempt is to escape where you're escaping to.
- 6:16I don't know because you're lapping the track.
- 6:18I feel like I do this on any given weekend at the track anyway.
- 6:22And it probably costs a lot less, but I like the idea of the cherries and berries
- 6:27chasing me around, but not in a Miata.
- 6:30That's for sure.
- 6:31That is for sure.
- 6:32Now, if you had told me, come to the track with your own car and outrun
- 6:36the cops, hell yeah, let's do this.
- 6:38I'm in it to win it.
- 6:40Yeah, I mean, it seems it seems a little gimmicky.
- 6:43I was the headline was I was like, Oh, this is going to be awesome.
- 6:47I think it was one of the old top gear episodes.
- 6:49Maybe it was top gear us where they had like a military base where
- 6:52they'd abandoned the housing section.
- 6:55And so they ended up doing some little contests where they're running from
- 6:58Stig or Stig's chasing them around.
- 7:00The housing section.
- 7:01And so you had this kind of residential setup, but of course there's nobody there.
- 7:05So if you jump a curb or run into a house or something, it's not a big deal.
- 7:08I was hoping it might be something like that.
- 7:10It seems like just a way to play flashlight tag on a racetrack.
- 7:13Yeah, exactly.
- 7:13And in a Miata, you're not going to get very far in 15 minutes.
- 7:16I hate to break it to you folks, especially with a Hemi charger behind you.
- 7:20It's not going to work.
- 7:21It's not going to take him very long to catch you.
- 7:22You better have like a three minute headstart or something,
- 7:25but so if you didn't.
- 7:28Spend all your money on all these other rich people things and you're
- 7:31flush with cash, as we said at the beginning of the episode, what can
- 7:34you buy with all that extra do re mi?
- 7:37Well, you've probably never thought about going to lamborghinistore.
- 7:41com.
- 7:43Oh.
- 7:43And honestly, you can get yourself this lovely, is a strong word.
- 7:50Safety cone yellow.
- 7:52Let's call it what it is.
- 7:54According to the listing, green soft shell jacket with what I think
- 8:01appears to be reflective striping.
- 8:05So you'll be safe at night.
- 8:06Now it's on sale.
- 8:08So you're getting a steal here at 404.
- 8:1060, regularly 5.
- 8:1378.
- 8:14So look at this bargain you're getting for almost 200 off.
- 8:17For a jacket, you could buy a tractor supply.
- 8:20I do not understand.
- 8:22Go to REI.
- 8:23Get yourself a cycling jacket.
- 8:26It'll be highly reflective.
- 8:28It'll cost a quarter of this.
- 8:30But it won't say Scooteria Lamborghini Automobili on the back.
- 8:35It's okay, because you can still get it in this obnoxious green color.
- 8:39Trust me, because I've seen them.
- 8:41But you're right, it will not have the Lamborghini badge
- 8:45on the arm or the Lamborghini wording on the back of the hood.
- 8:51But you know what that jacket might be useful for?
- 8:53Because I don't think too many Lamborghini owners are going to be
- 8:55riding their bicycles in the dark, especially if they own a Lamborghini.
- 8:59I was going to take a guess, but continue.
- 9:02It might make you highly visible at the Miami Grand Prix.
- 9:08Oh, see, I was going with when your Lamborghini breaks
- 9:11down on the side of the road.
- 9:13If you're standing outside of it waiting for AAA, he'll see you.
- 9:17That's a very good point as well, but if we're searching for you on TV, you would
- 9:22definitely stand out in that Lamborghini jacket at the Miami Grand Prix, right?
- 9:26Or would you?
- 9:27I don't know, because with 275, 000 of your other friends sporting their
- 9:32Lamborghini jackets, I don't think you're going to be seen in the crowd.
- 9:36275, 000 tickets sold for an 80, 000 person capacity event.
- 9:43So if you missed out on this inaugural Miami Grand Prix Formula
- 9:48One race, you didn't get your tickets, you're out of luck.
- 9:52You didn't spend anywhere from 1190 to 1550, and I'm not saying 15.
- 9:5950, 1, 550 for turn 18 tickets.
- 10:05Not that I know where turn 18 is quite honestly, but nonetheless,
- 10:08turn one as high as 1, 695.
- 10:12Now if you're on a budget, you could have gotten a beach ticket for 640.
- 10:18Sounds like a deal.
- 10:19I thought COTA was expensive.
- 10:22This is ridiculous.
- 10:24I mean, compared to this, shoot, the tickets at COTA were free.
- 10:27Right?
- 10:28Yeah, that's absolutely true.
- 10:29But yay.
- 10:29And it came with a concert at COTA.
- 10:32I saw Miss Taylor Swift.
- 10:34Thank you very much.
- 10:35This is why we're talking about rich people doing rich people things
- 10:38because this is just, it's insane.
- 10:40I mean, you can go to an SCCA race for free.
- 10:42So, you know, Hey, whatever.
- 10:43If you missed your opportunity to go to the Niami Grand Prix, you have
- 10:49still the opportunity to buy tickets for the Goodwood festival of speed.
- 10:54They just went on sale.
- 10:55At the same weekend as the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, where I was
- 11:00live there with folks from Garage Riot, MIE Racing, and a few others.
- 11:04Festival of Speed is the hill climb.
- 11:06I want to clarify that there are actually two races at Goodwood.
- 11:09There is the Festival of Speed and the Revival.
- 11:11The Festival of Speed is the hill climb and the Revival is the track event.
- 11:16The track event tickets are not yet available.
- 11:18And the festival of speed is going to be held in June of 22.
- 11:22And you can learn more about Goodwood at www.
- 11:27goodwood.
- 11:28com.
- 11:28So get your tickets today.
- 11:29And I guarantee you could probably buy them for 10 of your other friends for
- 11:32the cost of that Miami Grand Prix ticket, taxes, tags, airfare, lodging, and other
- 11:39things need not apply to my statement.
- 11:42I'm thinking here's the bargain.
- 11:44You buy that Lambo jacket for 404 on sale.
- 11:49And then instead of buying a ticket to the race, just sit in your
- 11:53living room and watch it on TV.
- 11:54Look, you just saved an extra thousand dollars, but that's pretty good.
- 11:59You're you're ahead in that, that mathematics.
- 12:02Well, if you're in the market for a luxurious motorhome and
- 12:07you happen to have a cool 2.
- 12:104 million burning a hole in your pocket, you could check out a German
- 12:15brand called Volkner Mobil that makes a very luxurious motorhome for which
- 12:20you could also slide your Bugatti Or other high performance luxury car
- 12:26underneath in its own private garage.
- 12:30I love that the second picture is an I eight.
- 12:33That's a bit of a change.
- 12:37I mean, we should number one Bugatti Chiron picture number two and I ate.
- 12:41We picked up for five bucks.
- 12:44We've seen these before on the old top gear, where they showed this
- 12:47being done with a Morgan arrow eight, if I remember correctly, and
- 12:50they had an older Volkner on there.
- 12:52So I'm glad to see that they're still around.
- 12:53Didn't realize there was a huge market for these things, redefines the toter
- 12:57home and the toy hauler and whatnot.
- 13:00But, uh, yeah, if you got 2.
- 13:014 million bucks to burn, what, what the hell not sending,
- 13:04it looks super nice inside.
- 13:06I don't know if it looks 2.
- 13:074 million nights though, and maybe if 2.
- 13:104 is Too steep?
- 13:11Maybe the stereo system is an option because that would save you 355, 000.
- 13:16Whoa.
- 13:19Brings it down to a cool 1.
- 13:209 million.
- 13:22All right.
- 13:23More taxes, tags, and insurance.
- 13:26So like most years, we like to talk about Things for your garage.
- 13:30This year was a little bit tougher.
- 13:31We have a huge list of things in our show notes in the category of tools, and
- 13:36we're not going to cover all of them.
- 13:37Some of them are dead pullers and rivet makers and all sorts of really neat stuff
- 13:43that you could use for working on the car.
- 13:44And so we've listed that in the show notes.
- 13:46Go ahead and check it out.
- 13:48It's pretty extensive, but I did come across something I thought
- 13:50was pretty cool for maybe your office, your den, your man cave.
- 13:55Or even the garage.
- 13:57That's right, and I found it on all places, Etsy.
- 14:01Etsy can be a little underrated for car related things, I think, because
- 14:06surprisingly there's some interesting things and sometimes artists will
- 14:12post their work through Etsy.
- 14:14And there's some pretty good card drawing artists.
- 14:18So if you're ever bored, Etsy is an interesting place to find maybe some
- 14:21unique gifts, but this one in particular.
- 14:24Happens to be a set of logo to banners that you can get for different marks.
- 14:27The one in particular that we're listing in the show notes is for
- 14:30team Corvette racing, and it's a.
- 14:32I think it looks really cool in some ways is better than having
- 14:36the team flag because of how long it is and how skinny it is.
- 14:39I could find more places for it either in my office or in my garage.
- 14:42I like the way it looks and there's more things like this on Etsy.
- 14:46Well, this one is like, it's got this Punisher vibe to it, right?
- 14:49Because they put the Corvette flag in a Punisher type.
- 14:53Helmet.
- 14:54Oh, that's you don't know about that?
- 14:55That's Jake.
- 14:57That's Jake.
- 14:58Jake from State Farm?
- 14:59No, that's Jake, Team Corvette mascot.
- 15:01That's been around for since the C5R now.
- 15:04So that's a long time logo that Team Corvette has been using.
- 15:07So this is really cool.
- 15:09Wow, I have not Seen that before.
- 15:13Yeah, yeah.
- 15:13I have been under a rock.
- 15:15So speaking of Etsy, do you remember our friends from Everything I
- 15:19Learned from Movies, the crossover episode we did earlier this year?
- 15:22Do you mean Steve and Izzy?
- 15:23That's right.
- 15:24And here's a quick word from Steve and Izzy.

- 16:20UntidyVenus.
- 16:20etsy.
- 16:21com.
- 16:21The goddess who's bad at housekeeping.
- 16:23Check it out now.
- 16:26All right.
- 16:27And we're back.
- 16:28So.
- 16:29Let's talk about things for your ride.
- 16:31And if it wouldn't be a drive thru episode, if we didn't do some
- 16:34Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche news, right?
- 16:38So this little bit of information is brought to us by New German Performance.
- 16:43They've got all sorts of deals on parts from black forest industries.
- 16:47Oh, 34 Motorsports, APR, CTS, and more.
- 16:54That's right.
- 16:54Both of NGPs locations are stocked with sale items and you can find
- 16:59it on their website and gpracing.
- 17:01com.
- 17:02We also put a link specifically to those sale items in the show notes.
- 17:06So check that out on our website.
- 17:08And if you need help getting those parts, those sale parts installed,
- 17:13NGP can set that up for you as well.
- 17:15Also, if you are looking for something in particular that isn't on their
- 17:19list of preferred brands or sale items, be sure to reach out to Mike
- 17:23Humphrey at NGP at Mike at NGP racing.
- 17:27com for additional information and assistance with anything you
- 17:30might be looking for, for your Volkswagen, Audi, or Porsche.
- 17:33You know, we would be remiss if we didn't just find random car adjacent things to
- 17:39talk about in this particular segment.
- 17:40And one of them that got me really scratching my head
- 17:43the other day was when I was.
- 17:46Searching on newegg.
- 17:47com and realize they now sell car parts.
- 17:50Did anybody realize that is this like the end of Newegg?
- 17:54But then I also came to find out that they quietly went IPO this past week.
- 18:00And so I'm like, huh.
- 18:02That's kind of weird.
- 18:03Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 18:04So maybe Newegg will be the new advanced auto or something online
- 18:08and we can order car parts and stuff.
- 18:10I mean, I looked at the catalog.
- 18:11There's an interesting array of things, accessories and stuff to wash your car.
- 18:15And I'm not going to probably buy oil filters from there, but just,
- 18:19you know, if you want to save a buck or two, maybe check out newegg.
- 18:21com and see if they've got something that you Can't actually buy on Amazon?
- 18:26I will say that they are accepting multiple different
- 18:28currencies, especially Dogecoin.
- 18:31So anybody who's got some Dogecoin lying around Is that like Doge?
- 18:34Is that Dogecoin?
- 18:35Yeah, whatever.
- 18:36Dogecoin.
- 18:37I say Doge because it's a dog.
- 18:39What
- 18:44That's awesome.
- 18:46So another item for your ride track decals is having a 15 percent off everything
- 18:51sale and if you've never been to their website, if you're looking for numbers
- 18:56for your car or you want to tattoo your ride with the latest track you've
- 19:01been to head on over to track decals.
- 19:03com and check out their inventory.
- 19:05That's right.
- 19:06And they also provide all of the safety stickers and club racing stickers
- 19:10that you'll need for next season.
- 19:11So 15 percent off goes a long way if you're gearing up or doing a new livery

- 19:58So stay tuned for more on that.
- 20:00Remember AmericanMuscle.
- 20:02com for all your high performance domestic parts, accessories, and performance needs.
- 20:07Now let's talk a little bit about gifts.
- 20:10For you, let's be a little bit selfish.
- 20:12Let's, and as we hopefully put COVID in the rear view mirror, be
- 20:17able to get out more, travel, get on airplanes again, trains, planes,
- 20:23automobiles, whatever your flavor is.
- 20:24You know, when you're doing that, you need to store your stuff in something, right?
- 20:28What do we normally use?
- 20:30We use luggage, travel bags, roll ons, carry ons.
- 20:33All of the above.
- 20:34And who do you usually think about?
- 20:36You usually think of, uh, Jan sport.
- 20:38I'm thinking Jan sport, Jan sport backpacks.
- 20:41No Samsonite was what I was thinking of for, for luggage, for the
- 20:45roller bags and things like that.
- 20:47You don't normally.
- 20:49Think of Sparco or exactly what you do think of them for helmet bags
- 20:56or, you know, other car accessories, seats, little booties, sweatshirts
- 21:01like you're wearing right now, but they have a line of travel bags.
- 21:08So not just backpacks, but also duffels and carry on luggage for airplanes.
- 21:14I really like these.
- 21:15There's some cool styles in there, especially their new martini racing
- 21:19livery inspired peril and accessories.
- 21:21They have like this luggage.
- 21:23I think it looks super cool.
- 21:24Obviously that's a throwback to the martini launches and
- 21:28Porsches and things like that.
- 21:29But yeah, I also like the fact that some of the bigger bags, if you're not
- 21:34traveling on a plane, have a compartment for your helmet, along with your clothes.
- 21:39I kind of wish I knew about that before I bought my track luggage that I have.
- 21:46I mean, I went with Swiss Army, it is what it is.
- 21:48But had I known these existed, I could do a two in one helmet and clothes together.
- 21:53Talk about amazing.
- 21:53And they look stellar.
- 21:55I mean, even their basic black, I like the way it's stitched together, the way
- 21:59it looks just there's that flair to it.
- 22:01It's a Sparco thing, you know?
- 22:03And you might be rolling your eyes going, Oh, that's nice.
- 22:06Sparco.
- 22:06Huh?
- 22:07How much did those cost?
- 22:08Like a Lamborghini coat?
- 22:09But actually these are actually on par with standard luggage prices.
- 22:16I mean, 179 for a carry on roller bag.
- 22:20That's really not astronomical or out of the range of something you,
- 22:23you know, walk into Macy's and go to the luggage section and see.
- 22:28And with, you know, Sparko quality, I've had a lot of Sparko gear over the years.
- 22:32It holds up really, really well.
- 22:34And their warranties are really good.
- 22:36Plus you can look for items like this through our sponsor, OG Racing.
- 22:40So if you want, reach out to Mark at ogracing.
- 22:44com and inquire about the Sparko bags or reach out to us as well.
- 22:48And find out what the pricing might be like on some of these Sparco accessories.
- 22:52And remember, more than just bags, it's apparel, it's shoes, it's gloves, helmets,
- 22:56you name it, steering wheels, seats.
- 22:59I mean, they've been making motor sports related, uh, gear for a very long time.
- 23:05You remember a while back we talked about the Mach E 1400.
- 23:10Do you guys recall that?
- 23:11Yes.
- 23:12So Ford put out that monster super drift car equivalent to 1400 horsepower.
- 23:18It's a Ford performance factory only vehicle.
- 23:20They've got some factory drivers, you know, doing all these videos and whatnot.
- 23:24So to give you a taste, quote unquote, of what the experience
- 23:29is like in the Mach E 1400.
- 23:31They have partnered with Hot Ones to create the Mach E hot sauce.
- 23:36And so we posted the video of this as Ford factory driver and the
- 23:40host of Hot Ones sit down together and kind of go back and forth.
- 23:44It's, it's an interesting kind of fun little two minute video showcasing
- 23:47the maki and this hot sauce, which probably tastes like liquid fire.
- 23:52As far as I can tell.
- 23:53I mean, they're near tears in the video as they're eating these chicken wings
- 23:56and they keep pouring the sauce on there.
- 23:58And it's, it's pretty brutal looking.
- 24:01I don't know.
- 24:02Get yourself some maki 1400 hot sauce.
- 24:04That's all I'm going to say.
- 24:05Well, since we're talking about ways to blow your money, two things
- 24:08came across my desk this month.
- 24:10I found some really cool logo merch, officially licensed
- 24:15products at paddockcollectionstore.
- 24:18com.
- 24:19So if you're looking for stuff from F1 teams, Bermos Porsche, IMSA related
- 24:24stuff, pretty much different facets.
- 24:26Of the motor sport world, check out paddock collection store.
- 24:31com.
- 24:32Actually great sales, reasonably priced, officially licensed merchandise.
- 24:36And on top of that, I saw an ad on Instagram for something called the
- 24:39block zone, which is the coolest custom Lego sets I have ever seen.
- 24:45So there's a group in the UK that puts together and sells sports
- 24:49cars, race cars, et cetera, for you to buy, you know, they're not.
- 24:53Lego sets, they are the block zone sets, although they are comprised of Legos.
- 24:59You can order these reasonably priced.
- 25:01What's funny is if you want to search for certain brands like Porsche or
- 25:05Lamborghini or Ferrari, you have to use kind of creative ways to look them up.
- 25:09Like the old bull.
- 25:11is what they call the Countach and the prancing horse is Ferrari, but you
- 25:16learn their nomenclature pretty quickly.
- 25:18And there's some very cool sets out there.
- 25:20I highly recommend the Porsche 917 kit came in right around 150 pounds
- 25:26or so, which, you know, can be kind of expensive, but it's a 2000 piece
- 25:30set and it looks really, really good.
- 25:33So check it out.
- 25:33Check that out.
- 25:34We'll post a link for it in the show notes and maybe think about that as a Christmas
- 25:38gift for your petrol head this winter.
- 25:40Well, it wouldn't be the holidays if you didn't have an ugly
- 25:46Christmas sweater party to go to.
- 25:49Oh God, that's become such a thing now.
- 25:51You know, I've never had an ugly Christmas sweater and I felt into
- 25:56spirit this year, but instead of getting ugly Christmas sweater, I
- 26:00opted for an ugly Christmas t shirt.
- 26:03I have one of those too.
- 26:04It's pretty heinous.
- 26:06Although mine isn't.
- 26:07It's quite cute.
- 26:10Shall be debuted later this year.
- 26:13So according to AutoWeek, there are now car themed holiday sweaters.
- 26:18Yes, this is true.
- 26:20And they are the vibe of the ugly Christmas sweater.
- 26:25Pattern and design, but car themed and you know, they're, they're pretty nice.
- 26:29Actually.
- 26:30I like that drifting through the snow Lambo or GTR.
- 26:33And there's another one with an old Mustang on it.
- 26:36They've got winter turbo, they've got rotary friends.
- 26:40I like the Bronco one.
- 26:42I mean, it reminds me of the Denver football team, but I'm
- 26:46like, I kind of like that one.
- 26:47I like the one with the tow trucks.
- 26:49I mean, they're all pretty cool.
- 26:50They've got what Mercedes Porsche with a Christmas tree on top.
- 26:54Those look a little rad racer to me, a little out Sega outrun.
- 26:57I mean, that's fine.
- 26:58That's fine.
- 26:59That rotary one's pretty cool though.
- 27:01So these are, these are really neat.
- 27:02There's something to check out and price wise you're sitting at 34.
- 27:0699.
- 27:08Yeah.
- 27:0832 bucks somewhere anywhere, anywhere between 29 and 35.
- 27:11It looks like, and some of these are directly available on amazon.
- 27:15com.
- 27:15So we have a link to this in our show notes as well.
- 27:18And so if you're looking for something fun for your petrol heads soon to
- 27:22be attending ugly sweater party, this is, this is a way to go indeed.
- 27:27Now, one of my favorite gifts as a kid Model cars.
- 27:32I still have a large collection of model cars.
- 27:36I've specifically have always been a big fan of 1 18th scale cars, which
- 27:41are becoming harder and harder to find anymore, especially in high quality.
- 27:45Now there's, there are brands like auto art out there and others that came on
- 27:49the scene, you know, already a decade ago at this point, compared to the classic
- 27:53days of like the Burgo and the Maisto and those types of cheaper brands that
- 27:58are still out there and still available.
- 28:00But I always get this boyish grin on my face.
- 28:04Anytime I see a new way to get a one eighteenths to go car.
- 28:07And so again, from auto week, just like the collection of sweaters, there's a
- 28:12collection of model cars for us petrol heads of a certain age, what do we think?
- 28:17Uh, I mean, this is an interesting collection.
- 28:19I guess this is just a snippet of their collection.
- 28:22I mean, it ranges from everything from the Bugatti Chiron to a 62 VW bus.
- 28:29To a Ford Velociraptor.
- 28:32So I think you could find anything, uh, for that car enthusiast in your life.
- 28:36A 1934 Dusenberg, two sj.
- 28:40That's actually not bad looking.
- 28:41I mean, the sizes are a little bit over the map in their collection here,
- 28:45ranging from 1 24 scale to one 18 scale.
- 28:47So 1 24 scale is gonna be about six.
- 28:50And a half inches versus a one 18 scale is nine to 10 inches depending on the car.
- 28:55But I did chuckle a little bit.
- 28:57The bottom right hand corner there is a, what, what does that
- 28:59Tanya, what does it say there?
- 29:01A one eighth horse.
- 29:02R eight.
- 29:03The mall?
- 29:04Yeah.
- 29:05And what, what's the picture of.
- 29:06Not a Porsche.
- 29:08That's the privateer champion Audi R8, you know, after the crocodile car of Alan
- 29:15McNish, who, by the way, I just happened to see, I rode Atlanta not long ago.
- 29:20Now, the real question is, did you click on the Audi R8 and see how much it costs?
- 29:25Because this is a rich people doing rich people thing.
- 29:28Yeah, it has the whopping price tag on it.
- 29:31Well, for four interest free installments of 2, 912.
- 29:3650, it could be yours, or a one time payment of 11, 650,
- 29:41taxes and shipping not included.
- 29:45It's cool, but for that price, I think I'd rather buy a real car off of racingjunk.
- 29:50com.
- 29:51And that's another thing.
- 29:51If you haven't heard of racingjunk.
- 29:53com and you're listening to this, go check them out for some ideas
- 29:56for your petrol head as well.
- 29:57Maybe you can find a spare engine or something on there, uh, if
- 30:00that's what they're looking for.
- 30:01But you know, on the cheaper side of things, I came across a new brand of
- 30:05model car that I didn't know about.
- 30:08And so there's a company called Solido.
- 30:10They're based out of.
- 30:11France.
- 30:12And they only sell through dealerships, which I think is kind of interesting.
- 30:16And their catalog skews quite European and very French in some cases.
- 30:22And there's a U S dealer in Georgia.
- 30:24And I don't know if the dealer I bought from at the petite You
- 30:28know, happens to be on their list.
- 30:29But I did pick up a Solido 1 18th scale Momo 935 while I was there.
- 30:35And I tell you what, the quality was really good and it was inexpensive.
- 30:38It was under 70 bucks for a 1 18th scale model.
- 30:40Now, retrospectively, I'm like, Oh my God, 70 bucks.
- 30:44That's a lot by today's standards is actually quite cheap.
- 30:47A lot of these die cast models have gone.
- 30:49Really up in price.
- 30:50And when you compare it to like an auto art where they clock in
- 30:53at nearly 200 each, it's a steal.
- 30:56It's a bargain, right?
- 30:57It doesn't have full suspension and things like that.
- 31:00Like you come accustomed to on some of the higher end ones, but to put on my
- 31:03desk to go, Ooh, I got a Momo nine 35.
- 31:06It's pretty cool.
- 31:07And it gets your attention, you know, from.
- 31:10That was very nice.
- 31:11I mean, I haven't seen it in person yet, but in photo seems nice.
- 31:15So speaking of other things that you can get for yourself.
- 31:17I don't know how many times I've been getting ready for a presentation,
- 31:21and someone has leaned over to me in a conference room and
- 31:23said, isn't that the GTI plaid?
- 31:26Or, where did you get those socks?
- 31:28Because let's face it, socks are the new tie.
- 31:31Portugal based Heeltread is a unique brand of socks that draws its inspiration
- 31:36from motorsports and aircraft.
- 31:39Their collection pays tribute to some of the world's most

- 31:46We get to take it out there on the streets and show people, Hey, check out this
- 31:48cool design or you get that question.

- 34:23And if you're thinking about other things for yourself, each box contains hand
- 34:28picked items, including tools, wearables, garage gear, detailing supplies,
- 34:34magazines, collectibles, and coupons.
- 34:37Whoa, what are we talking about, you ask?
- 34:40Tonight, we're talking about We're joined by John Sayre from Petrelbox
- 34:44to discuss why this Petrelhead curated monthly box is something
- 34:48you'll be anxiously anticipating.
- 34:51What are the tiers?
- 34:52What do you get in the different tiers?
- 34:54And what do they cost?
- 34:55So we have our Petrelbox basic, which is typically two to three
- 34:59items each month, starting at 19.
- 35:0195 a month.
- 35:02Then we have our petrol box premium, which is typically five to seven items.
- 35:06Some of the bigger, heavier items in this box starting at 39.
- 35:0995 a month.
- 35:10And depending on how long you subscribe, it does get a little bit cheaper as well.
- 35:14So there's two tiers and obviously it's probably cheaper if you
- 35:17buy the whole year up front than going monthly as well, right?
- 35:21Correct.
- 35:21Yeah.
- 35:21If you bought 12 months for the subscription, you're basically
- 35:25getting like two months free.
- 35:26You know, like a lot of other companies that do this, there's
- 35:28usually sister brands or other things that people aren't aware of.
- 35:32So is there anything else that Petrobox or that you're involved in that
- 35:36you'd want to let people know about?
- 35:37So recently, just this year, we did start our dog accessory brand.
- 35:41It's called Petropup.
- 35:42Petropup is a thing I've been working on for a while.
- 35:46I have.
- 35:47Probably the cutest dog in the world.
- 35:49And, uh, he just needed some more space to shine.
- 35:53So we, uh, got him his own little brand of car enthusiasts, motorsports
- 35:58inspired dog collars and leashes.
- 36:01Right now we have about seven different designs.
- 36:03Cause my dog loves going to the car shows and all the attention he gets.
- 36:07So we just get them, uh, looking good for the car shows.
- 36:11Doggy bandanas are big to do.
- 36:12We actually have them available on our store site as well with our logos on them.
- 36:16And a lot of our members, you know, put them on their dogs and
- 36:19obviously they switch them up.
- 36:20It's like wearing t shirts, right?
- 36:21Well, this time I'm going to wear formula one bandana next week.
- 36:24I'm going to wear petrol beds, bandana or whatever.
- 36:26So, you know, it all works, but so you were talking about
- 36:29the subscription, all that.
- 36:30So that being said, you know, with us looking at the holiday season,
- 36:33that's very fast approaching any shout outs, promotions, special discounts,
- 36:39anything you want to throw out there, do you want to let people know about?
- 36:41Yeah, absolutely.
- 36:42The, one of the best coupon codes we have out there is 2021.
- 36:47You'll get 21 percent off your entire first order from Petrobox.
- 36:50So you'll get that first month's box for.
- 36:5321 percent off.
- 36:54That's a really solid deal.
- 36:56And that's good through the end of the calendar year through 2021.
- 37:00Correct.
- 37:00Oh, that's awesome.
- 37:01Check that out.
- 37:02Listeners get 21 percent off your subscription of Petrobox starting now on
- 37:07the holidays through the end of the year.
- 37:08That's really, really cool.

- 37:14out Petrobox hop on over to mypetrobox.

- 37:22using that coupon code 2021 to get 21 percent off your subscription or follow
- 37:29them on social at Petrol dot box.
- 37:32In addition to that, you know, thinking about yourself, gear it
- 37:36up for next season, maybe it's time to refresh your safety gear.
- 37:41Personally, I go through a set of gloves almost annually.
- 37:44I, if I'm lucky, I get two years out of them before I basically destroyed them.
- 37:48It's one of the first things to go.
- 37:49Shoes is the next, especially if you're wearing driving shoes around
- 37:52the paddock and you're not switching in and out, you know, you could
- 37:54consider the normal brands, right?
- 37:56The race quips and the sparkos and all these different ones, but how
- 37:59about Checking out our friend and GTM member, John Caffeese's project
- 38:04motoring line of safety gear.
- 38:06He's SFI certified.
- 38:08He's got some really cool designs and some techniques on personalizing
- 38:13your safety gear, your driving suits, your shoes, your gloves, etc.
- 38:17To match your style, match delivery of your car.
- 38:20And we're actually going to be airing an episode where he explains how this all
- 38:24came about the process he's undergone and what he offers coming up here really soon.
- 38:29So pay attention to break fix two weeks from now, where you can learn more about
- 38:34project motoring abbreviated PMX and their line of safety gear and safety equipment.
- 38:40Since you have your ugly Christmas sweater and you're going to your now ugly
- 38:44Christmas car theme sweater party, you need some activities to do at that party.
- 38:50Why not some board games?
- 38:52Are you talking about Settlers of Catan?
- 38:54No, well, I mean, that's always a crowd favorite, generally.
- 38:57Ticket to ride?
- 38:58Ooh, I love me some ticket to ride.
- 39:00Monopoly.
- 39:01Monopoly I haven't played in a hot minute.
- 39:03You lose friends playing Monopoly,
- 39:09but always a solid choice as well.
- 39:10And risk is always a favorite, especially if you've seen the Seinfeld episode
- 39:14and Newman and Kramer and they're going through the subway and they don't, you
- 39:16know, don't want to mess up the board.
- 39:18Fantastic stuff right there.
- 39:19If your ugly Christmas car theme sweater party is a week long, then
- 39:24yes, risk would be a viable option.
- 39:26However, I'm thinking more car related.
- 39:29Okay, war games.
- 39:31And if you happen to be in tarjay anytime soon, they have a game called downforce.
- 39:39Whoa, what?
- 39:41And I actually believe you might have this game, a previous version.
- 39:45So this is a redesigned version of basically a car racing game.
- 39:51Um, the highlights, tires screech, gear shift, drivers push their
- 39:54million dollar cars to the limit.
- 39:56The difference between victory and defeat could be a single car.
- 40:00So essentially you put out this game board that looks like some
- 40:03sort of street course, right?
- 40:04And then everyone has little cars and you roll dice and, and you, you pull cards out
- 40:09of the deck and you move your race car.
- 40:12Along predetermined slots on this game board.
- 40:15And you're trying to get to the corner apex, the corner correctly
- 40:19come out at the right speed.
- 40:20It's all about like the number on your die that you roll and all this
- 40:24stuff to, you know, get to the finish line at any rate, it's car related.
- 40:28I got two questions.
- 40:29One, does the car look like the little car from the game of life?
- 40:33And can I put a little peg people in it?
- 40:34And two, maybe not a question, more of a statement, sounds wholly more exciting
- 40:40than all of last season's Formula One.
- 40:42I'm just going to lay it out.
- 40:43They are Formula One style cars.
- 40:45Okay.
- 40:46Well, that makes it that much better.
- 40:48I might not fall asleep while I play this game.
- 40:50Well, if you don't like that one, you might want to check out this next
- 40:55one, which you'd want to play while wearing your Lamborghini jacket.
- 41:01The high vis one?
- 41:02I don't know.
- 41:02The high vis Lamborghini jacket.
- 41:04This also from Tarjay, hey, hey, is a game called Lamborghini,
- 41:11the official race game board.
- 41:17The true listing is Lamborghini, the official race game board game.
- 41:22That's too many words.
- 41:24It doesn't make sense.
- 41:25It's a race game.
- 41:26That's a board game.
- 41:27Whatever.
- 41:28At any rate, this one, the Lamborghini official board game is
- 41:32a fascinating economic management of a racing Lamborghini team.
- 41:36Sign the best driver, buy your car and its components and
- 41:40equip it at your fingertips.
- 41:41best to face the qualification session.
- 41:44Then drive your Lamborghini Murcielago at 350 kilometers an hour
- 41:48on the Munzar Hockenheim Straits.
- 41:51The game is both managing and racing.
- 41:53The five miniatures in the box, scale 187th, are also a toy for adults and kids.
- 41:59Lamborghini is the official board game which will drive the sports car fans mad.
- 42:04It comes with micromachines.
- 42:07You have to wear a high vis jacket.
- 42:09And this sounds exactly like, if you remember Parks and Recs, when
- 42:13they brought in the teachers from the rec center, and the guy was
- 42:16showing people how to use Quicken.
- 42:18This is exactly like that.
- 42:20Like, this is how to be an accountant as a board game.
- 42:26Now, I'm not deterring anyone from trying it out, or checking it out,
- 42:29or adding it to their collection.
- 42:30It is officially licensed Lamborghini Merchandise.
- 42:33But, You know, hey, whatever, take it with a grain of salt.
- 42:36It could be the next best game and we just don't know it.
- 42:39And there's one more thing we got to talk about, which is, you
- 42:42know, right out in left field.
- 42:44The Ford Mach E fragrance.
- 42:46Is that ode to toilet?
- 42:48I mean, toilette?
- 42:50Sorry, I just got a whiff.
- 42:52Okay, hold on.
- 42:52So Ford Mach E.
- 42:55Fragrance.
- 42:56So the Mach E is an electric car, right?
- 42:59Yep.
- 42:59I know this.
- 43:00I'm just, you know, being, being that way with my rhetorical.
- 43:03I get it.
- 43:03Yeah.
- 43:03No, no.
- 43:04And it's good that you answered who here has played with a train set.
- 43:08I know where she's going with this electric train set.
- 43:11Who remembers that smell, that, that taste almost that gets in your mouth.
- 43:16It's called ozone.
- 43:17Right?
- 43:18Like even, I guess, if you went to an electric go kart
- 43:25track, it'd be the same thing.
- 43:26So is that what this smells like?
- 43:29Oh no, no, no.
- 43:31As I read the article, it says the Moc O, okay, spelled E A U.
- 43:37What?
- 43:38That's the name of the fragrance.
- 43:40Yes, that's French.
- 43:41Like many French references we've made on this episode this time.
- 43:44It is designed to please the nose of any wearer.
- 43:48A high end fragrance that fuses smoky accords, aspects
- 43:53of rubber, and even an egg.
- 43:56Element to give a nod to the Mustang heritage.
- 43:59What are we talking about?
- 44:01So it smells like a horse stall because the mach is a Mustang.
- 44:06That's exactly what I was thinking.
- 44:08It smells like horse shit.
- 44:10And this is a pile of marketing horse shit.
- 44:13I like that you said stall because I thought you were gonna say horse's ass.
- 44:17Uh, I have, I have class.
- 44:21This is right up there with the whole Maki 1400, what is it?
- 44:25Red chili Tabasco sauce that came out with like two months ago.
- 44:30So instead of like, can't even remember who the, the fragrance
- 44:33models are, you know, when they walk down and they do their little
- 44:37thing for like, Dior or whatever.
- 44:39Who is going to be the spokesperson, the spokesmodel for this?
- 44:44Is it going to be?
- 44:46Ken Block.
- 44:47Sorry.
- 44:48No, that would be good.
- 44:50Let me do it again.
- 44:50I'll get it.
- 44:52Shit, I'm gonna get it.
- 44:53Hold on.
- 44:57This has gotta be good.
- 44:58This has gotta be really good.
- 45:01Is it going to be?
- 45:03Mr.
- 45:04Ed, cause it is a Mustang.
- 45:06He's a horse.
- 45:07Of course, of course, that might be a little too old for some of our listeners.
- 45:12It might be right in their wheelhouse too.
- 45:15Uh, y'all get new balances for Christmas.
- 45:18This memorabilia collectibles and automobile ista as we call it over
- 45:23on Garage Riot has been brought to you by the friendly folks at
- 45:27Garage Riot, where we talk about this stuff a lot in a specific way.
- 45:30Channel over there, but here's a couple of words from Donovan.
- 45:34About the new platform that's coming out.
- 45:36Yeah, that's right.
- 45:37So garage ride is moving platform.
- 45:40So Eric's been helping out a lot with that, doing a lot of the work there.
- 45:43So we've been working pretty closely together, but pretty excited to
- 45:45announce that, uh, we're moving sort of, we're definitely changing platforms.
- 45:49Our old one's been around for five years.
- 45:51It's served us well, but, uh, we're excited.
- 45:53Some of the new features coming and some new stability in the platform.
- 45:56So.
- 45:57If you haven't already, you can visit the, uh, the new platform.
- 46:00Uh, there's links on the current.
- 46:01com site.
- 46:02We hope to have everything built out and switched over
- 46:04officially sometime in November.
- 46:05So look forward to seeing you online.
- 46:07That's right.
- 46:07And there's a new phone app coming out as well, right?
- 46:09So we should be looking for some big changes.
- 46:11That's right.
- 46:12Yeah.
- 46:12Those will replace your existing apps.
- 46:14Uh, should just be a regular update from the app stores.
- 46:17So yeah, looking forward to it.
- 46:18So to add to that, here's a couple of highlights from things that
- 46:22we talked about on Garage Riot.
- 46:24Donovan and I bought a bunch of stuff from Tuned in Tokyo.
- 46:28It is definitely geared towards the JDM crowd.
- 46:31However, the gear is really cool.
- 46:34Original designs, lots of things throwing back to, you know, again,
- 46:38petrol heads of a certain age.
- 46:39If you were a fan of Initial D, a lot of Mount Akina stuff, a lot
- 46:43of, you know, Toyota specific, uh, Nissan specific, et cetera.
- 46:47Really cool gear on the site.
- 46:48I have a sweatshirt that I bought from them and even my wife went.
- 46:52Where'd you get that?
- 46:52That's really neat.
- 46:53I like the way that looks.
- 46:54It's actually a lime sweatshirt, so it's double thick.
- 46:57I love wearing it on cold days like today where you're out and about running around
- 47:01and you don't wanna throw on a jacket.
- 47:02So a lot of cool stuff over on.
- 47:04Tuned in tokyo.com.
- 47:06On top of that, I also happen to pick up a pair of shoes based on an article
- 47:11that somebody posted on a garage riot, and they came from hard tuned store.com.
- 47:16They're listed as at hard tuned store or at Hgx JPN on Instagram.
- 47:20And what did I buy?
- 47:21I bought the infamous Fujiyara Tofu Shop Hachiroku AE86 Converse Chucks.
- 47:28They're amazing shoes.
- 47:29I love them.
- 47:30I posted about them on Instagram.
- 47:32They're very classy looking and they definitely get people's
- 47:34attention if they're petrol heads.
- 47:36Most people are like, Oh, you're wearing these like black and white panda.
- 47:39Chucks, what are these?
- 47:40I love them.
- 47:41I like shoes like that.
- 47:42I like things that are neat and get people's attention and
- 47:45get us talking about things, especially from when we were kids.
- 47:47And don't forget another apparel retailer, Blipshift, usually around this
- 47:52time of the year, or at least heading towards The Christmas holiday season,
- 47:56they start pulling out old designs kind of from the archive from the vault.
- 48:00And so designs you might've missed earlier in the year, even in the
- 48:03past, start coming back available.
- 48:06So if there was something you missed, go to blipshift.
- 48:09com and don't forget to check out what they've got.
- 48:11Some really cool stuff over there recently.
- 48:13It's some Sauber C9 Mercedes, some Corrado, some IMSA Jaguar V12, which
- 48:19actually we saw that car in person at Watkins Glen and got to speak with Mike
- 48:24over at Havoc Performance about it.
- 48:25Sneak peek.
- 48:26There's an episode with Mike coming.
- 48:28So if you want to catch up on some of these designs from this year over to
- 48:31Blipshift, definitely check it out.
- 48:32Blipshift.
- 48:34com for all of your petrolhead tees.
- 48:37Let's talk about other brands, sister brands to Heeltread that
- 48:41people might not know about.
- 48:42I was digging around and I noticed on the website recently, there's curatorsocks.
- 48:46com.
- 48:46What's that all about?
- 48:47Actually curator, our office manager, Madalena, she's a big art fan.
- 48:52And what we re branded our company to be a company that caters to passions.
- 48:57So our biggest passion is art.
- 48:59So we did a sock brand inspired by all the famous artworks.
- 49:03And we launched in February last year.
- 49:05And it worked out really, really well.
- 49:07Not as good as Siltred.
- 49:09I think the Petrelheads are more possessive on that way than our guys.
- 49:12And in July last year, me and João are also big music fans.
- 49:17We launched Stereo Socks.
- 49:19It's, it's inspired by the coolest album covers.
- 49:21It doesn't need to be, The album that sells more records or most famous, but
- 49:26we do socks inspired on the cool socks.
- 49:28Like Depeche Mode's Violator album, right?
- 49:30That would make sense.
- 49:31It's a sock.
- 49:32Beautiful.
- 49:32Yeah.
- 49:33Well, it's really, really cool.
- 49:34It's a black sock with only the, um, the flower and we did
- 49:38it in a really special way.
- 49:39That was really cool.
- 49:40Exactly.
- 49:41And I showed my wife the curator socks because that's more her style.
- 49:44And she was like, I didn't know they, I didn't know they did this.
- 49:47And I'm like, yeah, I think you can order some, or at least I know
- 49:50what, at least I know what I'm getting her for Christmas this year.
- 49:52That's for sure.
- 49:54Another thing we talked about at Garage Riot.
- 49:56His watches, Donovan is a huge watch collector.
- 49:59I nerd out on them, but I'm super specific.
- 50:01Last year, we talked about the DeLorean watch, the DMC watches
- 50:05by Charlie Foxtrot in the UK.
- 50:07By the way, folks, those are no longer available.
- 50:11So they were available for about an entire year and now they have been pulled.
- 50:15So if you've got one good on you, I love mine.
- 50:17Couldn't recommend it enough, but we keep an eye on motor sports inspired watches.
- 50:22There's every once in a while, there's like a golf liveried,
- 50:24something or rather, you know, by.
- 50:26Tag our Breitling or something like that.
- 50:28And then Donovan and I were even joking recently about how there's
- 50:31now Chevy and Ford sports watches and things like that, but there's always
- 50:36those classic Porsche ones, right?
- 50:38And so recently PCA has put a bunch of different articles right in time
- 50:46for the holidays, talking about new watches that are Porsche inspired
- 50:50or designed specifically for Porsche owners or Porsche enthusiasts.
- 50:53So there's a.
- 50:55901 slash 993 exoskeleton called the Chelsea.
- 50:59There's a Porsche designed, uh, sport chronograph, which looks like the clock
- 51:04from the latest 991s and 992s modeled after the clock that's in the car.
- 51:09And then they have some legends reborn series, things like that.
- 51:13So this is a really cool watches.
- 51:15Maybe I'm the line of rich people doing rich people things in terms
- 51:19of price compared to, you know, some of the other watches that are
- 51:22out there, but Do a search online for motorsport inspired watches.
- 51:28That's a search that I generally use.
- 51:29And you'll be fascinated to see what you come up with, but we've
- 51:32linked to all the ones that we've talked about here in our show notes.
- 51:35So check them out.
- 51:35If you're interested.
- 51:36They're so expensive.
- 51:38The price isn't even listed here.
- 51:40I don't even know, like you must have to like knock on a door and say the
- 51:43secret passcode to see what the price is.
- 51:45I mean, that's like some of those Ferrari kits and Bugatti baby twos.
- 51:50And you don't want to know what the price is.
- 51:51Maybe it's free.
- 51:52I don't, I'm good.
- 51:55Something that could be perhaps more in the, uh, price range wallet
- 52:02ability of, of listeners is, uh, don't forget to go to the Lego shop.
- 52:06So in the recent years, they've created a set theme known as speed champions.
- 52:13And so.
- 52:13Seems about every year, at least, or even multiple times a year,
- 52:16they're kind of coming out with a new vehicle in their lineup.
- 52:19I mean, they've got the rally Audi sport Quattro.
- 52:22They've got 1974, nine 11.
- 52:24They've got trucks.
- 52:26They've got Mercedes and rather Ferraris small size and also large size.
- 52:31So there's also a 74, nine 11 that's one eighth scale.
- 52:35Yeah.
- 52:36So, uh, don't forget to check that out.
- 52:37If you want a fun toy, maybe, you know, for yourself or for the kids in your life.
- 52:43That's right.
- 52:43Or yourself's.
- 52:45And going back to what you said about earlier about Jake from
- 52:47Team Corvette, there's even some CR as well as Bronco kits now.
- 52:53So they are on the front end of new models that are coming out.
- 52:56So don't, uh, you know, Legos aren't just for kids, like you said for yourself.
- 53:00I know that there's a bunch of us in GTM and, and even over at Garage, right.
- 53:04That love putting some of these bigger kits together.
- 53:06Some of these one eighth scale Bugattis and Porsches, Lamborghinis
- 53:11and things that have come out.
- 53:11So keep an eye on them.
- 53:12And the other thing I'll say about Legos is don't wait, grab it now.
- 53:17If you see it, usually it's low production runs, especially on the car based stuff
- 53:21and the prices go through the roof.
- 53:24If you try to get them later from a collector, if you see it
- 53:27now, grab it now, especially at places like Walmart and target.
- 53:30And don't forget stocking stuffers, Hot Wheels and Matchbox.
- 53:33always go a long way.
- 53:35It's a great way to spend 94 cents.
- 53:38If you're looking for something else, maybe for yourself or for someone
- 53:42else, a loved one, let's rewind the clock a little bit and go back to
- 53:47our crossover episode with John W.
- 53:50Warner the fourth author of the little Anton series.
- 53:54And as a reminder, his new book, book, Lion, Tiger, Bear just
- 53:58released and is available on Amazon.
- 54:00You know, if you're not turning wrenches over the winter and you've got a voracious
- 54:04reader at home, or you are one yourself and you want to add something to your
- 54:07collection, pick up Lion, Tiger, Bear, or the entire little Anton series as it is.
- 54:14adjacent.
- 54:15But I don't want to spoil it for you.
- 54:16Go back and check out the episode we did called Beyond Little Anton with John W.
- 54:21Warner the fourth.
- 54:22And it explains everything about the series.
- 54:25And oh, by the way, there's a bonus episode on Patreon that will release
- 54:28probably later in 22 that you can get a head start on Lion, Tiger,
- 54:33Bear and get a little bit Behind the scenes on some aliens too.
- 54:38So in the spirit of giving, we want to highlight a couple quick things.
- 54:42Uh, obviously there's different organizations out there that
- 54:45are keeping track of events in a sort of non denominational way.
- 54:48We'll, we'll call it that.
- 54:49And one of them is always Garage Riot.
- 54:51And right now, you know, obviously the tail end of the year is upon us
- 54:54and a lot of things are winding down, but posted on Garage Riots, site.
- 54:58I noticed that there is a charity 5k going on at National Corvette Museum.
- 55:05I noticed that as well because I get NCM emails.
- 55:08That's true.
- 55:09So, but they call it the Run Run Rudolph 5k and it'll be happening
- 55:14on December 11th at 5pm at the National Corvette Museum track.
- 55:19So if you live in the Bowling Green area and want to give back to the community
- 55:23in a motor sports sort of way, it's a great opportunity to get out there.
- 55:27In addition to that, a little bit of a sneak peek on an upcoming partnership
- 55:31and episode that we're doing.
- 55:32The collector card guide is also your source for events and recommended vendors.
- 55:39They're kind of new on the scene within the last year to 18 months.
- 55:42They have a paper publication that they put out, but also their
- 55:46website is very comprehensive.
- 55:48And you can look at events.
- 55:49throughout the East coast in the motorsports community from car
- 55:53shows, track events to, to others.
- 55:55And so they are also listing some charity events and festivals and car shows here
- 56:00for the late fall and early winter.
- 56:03So check out collectorcarguide.
- 56:05com.
- 56:05Before we get into some shout outs and close out the episode.
- 56:08Wouldn't be a drive through episode unless we went down
- 56:12South to our Southern neighbors.
- 56:14We talking holiday Florida man stories.
- 56:18Holiday Florida man stories.
- 56:20And yes, folks, the holidays have not happened yet.
- 56:23So we do not have fresh out of the oven holiday stories of 2021 for you.
- 56:29So we are going to go back in time to last year when you would have thought.
- 56:34Thanks to COVID lockdowns, there wasn't really much holiday getting together.
- 56:38Not in Florida.
- 56:39Hold on.
- 56:40I got to add more rum to my eggnog before we get into this.
- 56:43We'll go reverse because Thanksgiving at the time of this
- 56:46recording is a mere two days away.
- 56:48So we'll start.
- 56:49Christmas time.
- 56:50And we'll work our way back to Thanksgiving.
- 56:52So headline alone, like start with those because they're always good.
- 56:57Florida woman charged with assaulting sister with Christmas decoration.
- 57:01And I got really excited because I'm thinking there's lots of kinds
- 57:06of Christmas decorations here.
- 57:07Are we talking about like, you know, the big pieces outside outdoor?
- 57:11Rudolph Rudolph's getting a beat down.
- 57:14I was a little disappointed when it's merely a beaded cone tree.
- 57:22So I guess it's like a Christmas cone, like a little mini Christmas tree that's
- 57:28shaped like a, like an ice cream cone.
- 57:30It's a stabbing device.
- 57:33And she stabbed essentially her sister in the left side of the dorsal
- 57:39with the Christmas cone due to some sort of altercation that they had.
- 57:42And there was that, but then further kind of reading through the article.
- 57:48Apparently there was another incident in Florida, fights at Christmas time, using
- 57:52Christmas decorations is a big thing.
- 57:55This one's even better.
- 57:56I think they said a similar incident, similar.
- 57:59Okay.
- 58:00Well, and similar in that it's a Christmas decoration, but this is the
- 58:03kind of decoration I was looking for.
- 58:06Florida woman hit her boyfriend with sections of her family's
- 58:10artificial Christmas tree.
- 58:12With sections of the Christmas tree.
- 58:16The woman's last name is Graham, told the police, the couple began arguing because
- 58:20her boyfriend had set quote, the TV volume on too high while she was sleeping in
- 58:27response, she had quote, squared up to the victim and was screaming in his face,
- 58:32she admitted to the police that she quote, took apart an artificial Christmas tree
- 58:38and through three sections of the tree.
- 58:40At the victim.
- 58:41I mean, apparently in Florida, you could weaponize anything.
- 58:45Wow.
- 58:46I mean, that takes you had nothing else to go for.
- 58:50I mean, what was that guy doing while she's disassembling the Christian?
- 58:54Or was it like rapid fire?
- 58:55Like the Tasmanian devil?
- 58:57Like, was he just standing here?
- 58:59And he's watching her like take apart the Christmas tree and
- 59:01then he gets chucked in his face.
- 59:02I mean, how much of a Doug's can you be?
- 59:05I don't know because I mean, regardless of a pre lit tree or
- 59:08not, I'm going to go out on a limb.
- 59:11You have lights strung around it.
- 59:13And if they're not pre lit.
- 59:15Well, even if they are, you got to disconnect the strands.
- 59:18If not, the whole tree is still like kind of together by virtue of the lights.
- 59:23And then you got the balls flying everywhere or whatever other
- 59:26hanging ornaments you have.
- 59:28I mean, what was that dude doing?
- 59:32He was, I don't, I don't, I don't understand.
- 59:34Please folks, don't let your Christmas turn into this disaster.
- 59:37That's for sure.
- 59:38Please don't get a misdemeanor jail time on your record for.
- 59:42Throwing Christmas tree parts at your boyfriend or girlfriend.
- 59:45How does that 9 1 1 call go?
- 59:47Excuse me, operator, I've been assaulted by a Christmas tree.
- 59:52Like, seriously?
- 59:53Like, I don't understand.
- 59:54Oh, who did it?
- 59:55Santa?
- 59:57Right?
- 59:57I mean, how do they even keep a straight face?
- 59:59Were you naughty this year?
- 1:00:02It's ridiculous.
- 1:00:03Oh, God.
- 1:00:06But here we go.
- 1:00:08Also saving the best for last.
- 1:00:11Whoops.
- 1:00:12Move to Thanksgiving.
- 1:00:13You don't even need to read the rest of that.
- 1:00:15There's not even anything else to the article, okay?
- 1:00:18Honestly, because it's summed up in its entirety by the title.
- 1:00:22Florida man defrosts Thanksgiving turkey in swimming pool.
- 1:00:31Y'all be worried about, Oh snap, I haven't taken my turkey out of the freezer yet.
- 1:00:36Thanksgiving's in two days.
- 1:00:37How will it ever defrost?
- 1:00:39No, you got a swimming pool in Florida.
- 1:00:41Throw that sucker in there.
- 1:00:42It takes just a few hours, apparently.
- 1:00:44So does the salmonella only takes a couple hours too.
- 1:00:48I mean, Add that little extra something, something.
- 1:00:52Oh God, really?
- 1:00:54I mean, in the hot tub, but then you'd end up cooking it, right?
- 1:00:57Quote.
- 1:00:58We saw our turkey in the pool.
- 1:01:00That's how you do it when you live in Florida.
- 1:01:03I didn't know that.
- 1:01:04I've also never lived in Florida.
- 1:01:06I mean, we learned something new every month.
- 1:01:09Every year, a different family member throws the turkey into the pool.
- 1:01:14I mean, that's tradition.
- 1:01:15I mean, that's almost slam dunk.
- 1:01:16Throw it in.
- 1:01:17Most people wonder, doesn't the chlorine get into your turkey?
- 1:01:22That's a little extra.
- 1:01:23That just keeps it moist.
- 1:01:25He says, these bags are sealed by the factories.
- 1:01:28We've never had a leakage yet.
- 1:01:30And no chlorine is in our turkey.
- 1:01:32All right.
- 1:01:33I mean, and it's like a sous vide at that point, right?
- 1:01:35So, I mean, I get it.
- 1:01:37I get it.
- 1:01:37I mean, those turkey bags are pretty thick, but.
- 1:01:40So is the skull of the person doing this, but you know, hey, whatever.
- 1:01:44And please, people, before you get any ideas, the United States Department of
- 1:01:47Agriculture does recommend that there are three ways to safely thaw your turkey.
- 1:01:52One, in the refrigerator.
- 1:01:54Two, in cold water.
- 1:01:55Or three, Apparently in the microwave.
- 1:01:57That sounds like a lot of work.
- 1:02:02All right.
- 1:02:04Well, thank goodness.
- 1:02:06I don't like turkey.
- 1:02:07Well, now that we've spread a little holiday cheer, it's time
- 1:02:10for us to wrap out with some local news and some shout outs.
- 1:02:13So first let's kick off.
- 1:02:16With Mike Arrigo from Hooked on Driving.
- 1:02:18We do two promotions at the end of the year and the beginning of the year.
- 1:02:21So basically right before Christmas, we have our frequent
- 1:02:25driver program that comes out.
- 1:02:26So you're going to be able to buy a gift certificate that never expires.
- 1:02:29You're basically saving somewhere in that 10 percent range.
- 1:02:32David Ray puts it out every year, but come right around December, we
- 1:02:35send an email out to everybody, you know, the frequent driver programs on.
- 1:02:39And then, uh, at the beginning of the year, they do it also.
- 1:02:41So in January, right after the new year starts.
- 1:02:44So for people that are balancing budgets and different businesses
- 1:02:47from, you know, one year to the next year, have two opportunities
- 1:02:50to kind of grab those out there.
- 1:02:52And like I said, they never expired.
- 1:02:53They're good for everything we do out there, except for the, uh,
- 1:02:57private coaching that we provide.
- 1:02:59So that gift certificate is good for anything out there.
- 1:03:01The one thing people need to know is like the gift certificates are regional.
- 1:03:04You can't buy a gift certificate and say, I'm going to use it and,
- 1:03:07you know, You know, a New York track and then a California track
- 1:03:10and then head down to Texas.
- 1:03:12So they are regional for your region.
- 1:03:13And that's why there's two levels, you know, our sponsorship packages
- 1:03:16are going to be coming out soon.
- 1:03:17Again, that go out to everybody out there for our, you know, regional sponsors
- 1:03:21for the year, like you see up on our website and some of the people I've
- 1:03:23talked about that do stuff for that.
- 1:03:25So, uh, I know there's a lot of people out there with businesses and,
- 1:03:28you know, our sponsor packages are very flexible out there for people.
- 1:03:31So it could be anything from a yearly sponsorship, you know,
- 1:03:34where you're, you know, you're.
- 1:03:35A title sponsor and you're on our website to something that's more
- 1:03:39localized and regional where, you know, you might have something at
- 1:03:42a certain track and say, you know, that's a title sponsor for that event.
- 1:03:45And, you know, lunch has been provided by, you know, ABC
- 1:03:48dealership or anything like that.
- 1:03:49So, uh, we're very adaptive and what people need and want to do like that.
- 1:03:54And to continue our HPD e junkie.
- 1:03:57com trackside update, all these trackside news brought to you by our
- 1:04:01friend, Dave Peters over at HPD junkie.
- 1:04:04com.
- 1:04:04He is underway in terms of updating the track day schedule for 2022.
- 1:04:10And guess what?
- 1:04:12Our friend Nabeel sent us his 2022 schedule already, and we
- 1:04:17haven't even finished the gear yet.
- 1:04:18And that means Dave is going to have it up.
- 1:04:22Let's, let's review really quickly.
- 1:04:23Starting in January, they're kicking off at Barber motor sports park, then
- 1:04:27headed to AMP Roebling road, road, Atlanta, Atlanta motor sports park again.
- 1:04:31And so on down the line, they're going to be a Carolina again in August.
- 1:04:34We hope to join them there.
- 1:04:36Maybe at some of these other events, but they've got a full
- 1:04:38schedule from January through.
- 1:04:40through December.
- 1:04:41I'm looking at 15 events.
- 1:04:43That's awesome.
- 1:04:44So Nabil also gives an exclusive little sneak peek here on the 2022 schedule.
- 1:04:48He is offering an off season rate for the barber event in January.
- 1:04:55That would make a great Christmas gift for a lot of people if they
- 1:04:58live in the Southeast or are looking to check a bucket list track.
- 1:05:02Off their list.
- 1:05:03So you can get a special discount with just track it at their January,
- 1:05:0815, 16, Barbara motor sports park.
- 1:05:10Beautiful track.
- 1:05:11It is absolutely beautiful track.
- 1:05:13And remember to check out the full length episode that we did with Nabil
- 1:05:16from just track it earlier this season to learn all about their program.
- 1:05:20If you're hearing about them for their first time.
- 1:05:22Again, stay tuned for updates on their registration and their events will all
- 1:05:26open up shortly on club registration.
- 1:05:29net.
- 1:05:30So if you're from the East coast and you're used to using motorsport
- 1:05:33reg, they use a different platform.
- 1:05:35That's prevalent in the South known as club registration.
- 1:05:38net.
- 1:05:38So be sure to check out their events there or check out their website, just track it.
- 1:05:42net.
- 1:05:42And also be sure to go to HPD junkie.
- 1:05:45com as your source for track days across North America.
- 1:05:48Chin has also already posted their track list for next year.
- 1:05:54So go to ChinTrackDays.
- 1:05:56com to check out their list.
- 1:05:57And please note something very exciting that I picked up on as I perused their
- 1:06:03list, as soon as I got their email, May 14th and 15th, 2022, Saturday and Sunday.
- 1:06:09Chin breaks the ice at a brand new track.
- 1:06:13Ooh!
- 1:06:14Ozarks International Raceway.
- 1:06:17O I R.
- 1:06:18I'm excited.
- 1:06:19How far is that?
- 1:06:20Far.
- 1:06:22Where is it?
- 1:06:22It is in Gravois Mills.
- 1:06:25Missouri, which if you're from, let's say, Washington, D.
- 1:06:30C.
- 1:06:30area, that is a mere 15 hour.
- 1:06:35Oh, is that all?
- 1:06:3615, 16 hour drive, approximately 995 miles, depending on route.
- 1:06:41Basically get on 70 and just keep driving till you make a left to IR.
- 1:06:47That would be our longest cannonball yet.
- 1:06:49But for our members in the middle and west region, region five, that are based out
- 1:06:54of Bowling Green, based out of Michigan and Ohio and other places, it's not that
- 1:06:59far of a stretch for them to get there.
- 1:07:00Maybe report back to us or, hey, if you guys got a car for rent, Let me know.
- 1:07:04And I did hear that OIR is going to have some cars available.
- 1:07:08So that might be a way, you know, fly out there, drop in, even if it's in a Miata,
- 1:07:12it's a cool way to check out a new track.
- 1:07:14And on that note, our friends, Jason and Sarah over at auto interests are also
- 1:07:18having an extended black Friday sale.
- 1:07:21So there'll be running a black Friday bonus value gift card special.
- 1:07:25And we've added that link to our show notes.
- 1:07:27And in addition to that, they're also offering what they call track packs.

- 1:08:19Well, you know, looks like we've come to the end of our
- 1:08:22holiday shopping guide, but.
- 1:08:25I think there's some people that we need to thank.
- 1:08:27There's some messages that we need to give.

- 1:11:08Expert Tom, right?
- 1:11:09He's also the lead for our virtual racing league, which we hope to be

- 1:11:50And I think there's one last bit of news.
- 1:11:54A sad farewell we have to get to a guest that has been on the show multiple times.
- 1:11:59It's with a heavy heart that we share this news.
- 1:12:02As many of you probably already aware before the recording of this episode,
- 1:12:07one of our esteemed members of GTM, Matthew Yip, had been struggling
- 1:12:12and striving through his battle with kidney failure for many years now.
- 1:12:17And unfortunately, on November 15th, 2021.
- 1:12:21He lost that battle.
- 1:12:23We were all very shocked and saddened by that sudden news.
- 1:12:26And we hope that wherever he may be now, he's at peace.
- 1:12:30That's right, folks.
- 1:12:31And more details to come on Matthew's celebration of life.
- 1:12:35So please stay tuned to emails coming from GTM HQ, as we reveal
- 1:12:41more information as you know, things are kind of playing out and whatnot.
- 1:12:44So again, it was a shock to all of us that this happened.
- 1:12:48Matthew's.
- 1:12:49Extended family is huge.
- 1:12:51There's so many people that are coming out and sharing stories.
- 1:12:54It's hard to get our arms around all this stuff.
- 1:12:56So he had a major impact in the motor sports community,
- 1:13:00especially here in the DMV.
- 1:13:01And so if you're hearing about Matt for the first time, or maybe you
- 1:13:04knew him on the periphery, we did a special episode this year that.
- 1:13:09aired on his 55th birthday.
- 1:13:11So you could check out, uh, some of the, his backstory, some of his more
- 1:13:14famous stories in his own words.
- 1:13:16The title of that episode is called y'all be yippin big shout out to Matt again,
- 1:13:21and a thank you, even though he's not here to hear it for coming on break fix and
- 1:13:25helping us get this show off the ground.
- 1:13:27He was a big part of season one and he was on a ton of episodes.
- 1:13:31So we've linked to that in a time capsule article that That's
- 1:13:34on the GT Motorsports website.
- 1:13:37So if you search for y'all be yipping, all the information is there.
- 1:13:40So a big GTM salute to Matthew.
- 1:13:43You are with us in our thoughts and our prayers from here on out.
- 1:13:47And that being said, it's always important to remember something
- 1:13:50that Brad says over and over again.
- 1:13:52If he's said it once, he said it a hundred times without members like you.
- 1:13:56and the folks and the family and the friends that support organizations like
- 1:14:01GTM, none of this would be possible.
- 1:14:04Oh, and wait, did I forget to thank Tanya again?
- 1:14:08Our executive co producer of the drive thru.
- 1:14:10Of course, thank you.
- 1:14:13And on that note, happy holidays everybody.
- 1:14:16Happy holidays.
- 1:14:18Don't be throwing decorations at anybody.
- 1:14:20Don,
- 1:14:23here
- 1:14:35we are in the dries
- 1:14:38in front of us cars in back of us all just waiting to order.
- 1:14:42There's some idiot in a Volvo with this brights on behind me, I lean out
- 1:14:47the window and scream, Hey, watch it.
- 1:14:49Trying to do blind me.
