- 0:01[SPEAKER_02]: Today's conversation, we're going to play this video and it's going to be a basis of what we're discussing today, which we think is really, really important for the plate of entrepreneurs.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: Shout out to Kevin Stakes.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Years ago, I bought a Mazurati and with one of the worst financial decisions I made in my life.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Big mistake.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: Huge.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to afford the payment, that wasn't a problem, but what I was unprepared for was how much more expensive it was to have a luxury foreign car.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: My previous car was a fully paid off, 09 Toyota Corolla.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: I went from that to a 2020 Mazarati lease.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: I learned the first mistake was your insurance is going to change.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I called the change my insurance like I had done from car to car and it just sent you the wind number, sent you new cars.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: They were like your insurance is going up thousands of dollars.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: I said, why?
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, well because it's a mouse body.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Luxury cars are harder and shorter and more expensive.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't do no research.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh okay, cool dang dang.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I wish I didn't do that.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: Then when I first went to get an oil change, I took my mouse body to Jiffyloo.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'd taken all my cars in my entire life to Jiffyloo.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: I pull up to the thing and they're like, what are you doing?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I want to, I want to, I want to all change for the 60 bucks.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, we can't do an all change for this.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, why not?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's car, oil, change it.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: I got the 60?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, so you got to take this to the dealership.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: We don't do this up a car.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh dang, I got to the dealership.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: The all changes are $1,000.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: I said for a fruit, would you feel a little bit in the 60 and 80 if you get the premium synthetic oil?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: $1,000 for what didn't do my research didn't know that.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: Then, unfortunately, I lost the key to the car.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: When to get it remade, you can't go to the grocery store like I did with my tour.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: You get that car made ran at the grocery store at Home Depot all kinds of places.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: You got to go back to the dealership.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: I replaced me key for that miles ride with $1,500.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: I said, oh y'all can have it back.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: As soon as that lease was up, take this back.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I am now back where I belong in a Toyota.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Toyota is good for me.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: That luxury car life, that ain't for everybody, it ain't for me.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Not to mention the door handle kept coming off and all kind of stuff was wrong with that stupid car.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a good choice, and then it was good for my sake, because I was struggling with Blake.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: Am I doing okay in life?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: Can I afford this?
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: But for my actual life, terrible choice, I would never do it again.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Zero out of ten.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do not recommend it.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: So back in the toilet, we're out below.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm back in the toilet, we're out below.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Imagine being used to just being able to run over to Home Depot, get another duplicate key made, and they're saying, no, not for that car, we can't do it.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you go to the dealership, and they tell you, it's $1,500 for a key that would normally have cost you less than 100 bucks.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy, unbelievable.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when people upgrade their lifestyle, maybe you make some more money, you're like, oh, well, I make it more money, I can get a new car or I can buy this house and you're comparing apples to apples.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, my one house was, I don't know, 2300 miles a month.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: I make it more money, I can afford a higher mortgage, maybe 2800 miles a month.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: And we're thinking, oh, it's just $500.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm out.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: But we don't take into consideration.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, with that particular neighborhood or side of town, the taxes are more expensive.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you got some, you got some grass.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's nice grass, too.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the nice grass.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Lush.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: You got to just pay for my garden back there.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: I've got a pace of body to get a grip.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: I was looking at a building and I was like, dang, I want this other building and it's bigger.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the biggest thing that I would have bought, but then I love it around there.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I started to look at it and I was like, ooh, we, if that elevator goes out, we have to calculate that in the cost of this upgraded situation.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: So upgrading has a lot more cost than just the number that we're looking at.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: 1,000 percent, which brings me to what something that you've that you started spending money on that in hindsight was just way too early, but you started spending money on it because you felt like the business had finally taken on.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Watches.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: Watches.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: Ridiculous.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely ridiculous.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I can see about like I like about this one watch and this is like my watch, but I bought.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: What's six of them?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: What's six Rolexes and what time frame?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: And within like two years you're an half, but I'm listening to all these people saying, yo, watches are an investment and they appreciate.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, not these.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: These didn't appreciate.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: Most the large majority of Rolexes do not appreciate.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I can't get more, okay, I bought this maybe 20, 22.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: I can't get more than I pay for it.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe able to get what I paid for it.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Probably less.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: I went to other day.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: This is okay.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sick.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: I went to other day.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking about this and I was like, bro, I need to sell some of these watches.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I take this watch that I remember I paid $18,000 for and I take it because all my financial literacy friends said, oh, they appreciate it.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: So my, oh, I paid 18.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: I know I could at least my 18 back.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: That man said, I get you 10.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yikes, where'd you take it?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: To know the mall and the little store in Linux.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Rolex store?
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well it's not the Rolex store.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a resell.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if Rolex buys it.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Why should they do that?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they sell pre-owned watches, so they have to.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I don't think they're going to take a use when back and give me more or the same price, because they can't resell it.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I'm going to get the decision for them.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: You feel me?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, unless it's appreciated in value, so then they may give it to you, give you the same amount of money for it.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: it was dumb.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was dumb.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: I got the one box that I always wanted, which was a two-tone date just, and it's like, these are the ones I saw in the videos growing up.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Same one that I, I low-key like pressure due to kid, and I'm like, yo, you've got it.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: That would have, okay, let me just tell you, the Rolex is probably, the Rolex, I didn't buy anything, like I don't think I, I don't think I went crazy on buying stuff that I wasn't buying anyway, if that makes sense.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: But the Rolex was an unnecessary purchase for me.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: You pressure me into getting it.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never forget, we were shooting a podcast.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: You thought it was so important.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to upgrade.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't I didn't wear watches before that.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay I didn't I didn't wear a watch the watch that I owned before that was there was like maybe a Gucci watch or something was I had several watches I had like several fashion watches, but
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're like Gucci and Louis Vuitton and things like that.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: And they sit in the case.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't wear them.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: And you've convinced me to go get this Rolex.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was like $23,000, $24,000.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I take, we finished recording the podcast.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: I drive to the bank.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I'm gonna go get the money now because if I don't go get the money, I'm never gonna get it.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, go do it.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I go to the bank.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: take the money out.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like recording the whole thing.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: I've got this money and I'm like, let's go, let's go right now.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: We go to the mall, we go to fips and we go and get this watch.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: This was probably 2021 maybe.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I say this to say, I don't even know the name of the watch that I own.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the Rolex.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the Rolex and I don't know that I could say
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: for certainty, like, a door has never opened for me because somebody was like, oh my God, Rolex, let's talk.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah,
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then, fast forward, so many people have Rolexes like are they really like an exclusive group of people who wear a Rolex.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you know what I mean?
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I did not have to buy the Rolex 15 is just 15 to 25% of Rolex models appreciate.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: Here's what's cool.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: This says roughly 25 to 40% of Rolex is specifically, depreciate.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: What percentage?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: 25 to 40% of you are less when you try to resell them.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, here's what's funny too because I go into the mall and I got the watch in my bag And I try to be I want to bring the watch out because the worst thing that could have is somebody look at it Like oh David what you doing?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: What are you watching?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh podcasting?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: What's that you doing?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: I was so embarrassed.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: I like looking around so I have my bag over on my back.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking around.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like here.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, what the y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like I was like liquidating my life because like things were going wrong or something.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's how I felt.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Why do we feel that kind of pressure?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I feel that kind of pressure.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I have to think maybe there's something that makes me feel that kind of pressure.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I won't walk into the flea market and say, I want this.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't do work with that for us.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I take the box out and I got the box, the watch.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: The card I got the little the little string thing that it came with all that kind of stuff He looks at it and he offers me $10,000 and I'm like, bro I'm not about to go buy crack with the money.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like I need right he's like do you need the money right now, but no And come down like lower your voice
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: No, you're a voice bro.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: Are you done a jury source like glass windows so people can see me in there So but I try to add my book bag going.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: I just I just make sure we were like just like a little pillars Like Brian Miller just check out over there buddy But yeah, it was it was dumb.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: Tancy your question.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: That was dumb
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: And even like, I think about everything that I bought, you peer pressure me into buying, even like the car.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: I never even wanted the car.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I bought the car after two years with the car.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: I said, take this car back.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I did, I did talk you off of a cliff one time.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: You face time me from the Mercedes dealership where you bought the buy this $100,000 over price G-wagon.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: It was $180,000 over price.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: It was over the price.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: This is just a pandemic somewhere.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was $300,000.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but it was so beautiful.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: They could have taught me how to anything.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm like, at the dealership, and they're telling me, you could get whatever you want.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: And that's like, new to me, you know what I mean?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: I had been used to, like, at this time, I had purchased a couple of Mercedes and when I went into the first time, they like, you can get whatever you want, but let's stay in this limit.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then I go back this time and they're like, oh, you can get whatever you want.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, whatever, anything, anything.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like,
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like suddenly that G-Wag and started to illuminate behind the sales person's head, I don't hear anything they're talking about.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was at that time, my dream car.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: It was the screen saver on my phone.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, I want that.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: I want that.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm only there just how they get you.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm there for a service bee.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's time for the service bee on my car.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever that is.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so while my car is over there getting serviced, I'm on the sales floor.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a relationship in my name.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: They're bringing me champagne and drinks and all the things.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you know,
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: I could get it and they're like, but it's a little over the price right now because there's a shortage But this one right here, it's going to appreciate and value If it's going to do this that any other and I'm like, I don't know anything about these cars.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let me phone a friend We're going back and forth like we go through all of the things where we're at paperwork and I'm like How is this gonna like I do know about appreciation and depreciation?
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I used to sell cars and I'm like
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: What happens if this price comes back down?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they're telling me at that time, oh, the price isn't coming back down.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's not how Mercedes operates.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Once it's up here, it's up here.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's like a $300,000 Mercedes, like a $300,000 G-wag.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you need a may-back for that, okay?
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm like, hmm, I just don't know if I believe the price is never gonna come back down.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't wanna be a $100,000 upside down in this car.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm like, let me just call my friend real quick.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: and I called Dave and they said, walk away.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Leave the dealership, I'm like, I'm just waiting on my car, get an Uber right now.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: Leave the dealership right now because I wanted that car so bad, I wanted that car so, it was a baby blue with a blue interior.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember that car?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: I remember if it looked good.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, in my mind, I'm like, yo, you could buy two of these, and, you know, pandemic was just a special special time.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was a special time.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: Everything was more expensive.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was in a 2022 or 2023 because I had already had the electric Mercedes, so they had to be like 2023.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: That electric Mercedes was fire, right?
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: But I never drove the car.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: I never drove, I never drove the car, so I have a
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty twenty-one Mercedes that I purchased purchased and when I bought my electric Mercedes and like twenty twenty-three I gave the other one to my mom I still have that car right that car has like twenty thousand miles on it The car is five years old And the car has like twenty thousand miles on it when I turned in the electric Mercedes it had and I was leasing it
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: It had like 8,000 miles on it in two years.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't drive a whole lot.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm in there and I'm like, but I gotta buy something like you said, I could get anything.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: I got, I wanna buy something.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: And they just so happened.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna get another electric Mercedes and they just so happened to only have white cars in at that time.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: It was only white and I didn't want a white car.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm about to do some traveling for a couple of weeks, just calling when something comes in.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm out and I'm living my life and I'm spending that money and I'm just doing things and they call me like a month later and say, good news, something's coming in and I'm like, okay, cool, I'll be up there.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: And on my way up there, I said, I like being chauffeur around.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: I prefer to take cars like what do I need the car for?
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: It had 8,000 miles on it in two years.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: So how buying is impulse is like I'm buying off of a feeling that necessarily logically what I need at the time.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's why that's why they wash the car and make it look shiny.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: And put that good smell in there.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Well now I want a rose voice.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: Do you?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: To sit here for a grudge.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: For sure.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's others in there.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: And that kind of wanted a rose voice.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Do you really want?
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: I either want that or it may be extra.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you want it?
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: They're so cute.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote in somebody's name.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote in somebody's name.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote in somebody's role's voice recently and I'm like, I deserve to drive this.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm asking myself, if I had this car, would I drive it?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: There was a time where I think it was during the pandemic.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're women we're being robbed in their cars and so I had always said I'll get a nice car But up to this limit because I don't want to be sitting at a red light and be a Mark you know what I mean, and so there's just a little bit of I don't know I don't know I just be going through asking me next week.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: I got stuff happening right now
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: But I know some people that would answer, I would say, buying a huge house when the money came in.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just a regret, because my wife wants to get into a house.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I have to like, constantly reminder, half of the square footage that we have, nobody uses.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: So we have a basement with like, it's built out.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a little live room area.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: Now my office is there, I go to my office maybe twice a week to do a call if I just don't come up here.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: But no one, no one's turned on that TV in a year.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like we want a bigger house, but somebody told me this is like years ago, there's like you can calculate, or if you really think about it.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: Most people use what, like, 40% of their house or something like that.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: There's rooms that aren't used in their house.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: So she wants a bigger house, but I'm like, why do you want a bigger house?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: You can use all the house we got now.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I have a 1500 square foot apartment.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: I probably used the sofa in a bit.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: where I live right now.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: And what I pay right now for rent is pretty expensive.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be about 40% more, right?
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I've convinced myself that I need three bad rooms instead of two bad rooms.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: I've been living the condo life since 2014.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: The night have you had to.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: I love the condo life.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: I did a Q&A on Instagram the other day.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: And somebody said,
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: ultimate dream life like would you rather have a mansion or a penthouse, penthouse me all day.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: All right, penthouse at this stage that I'm in in life, penthouse me all day.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: I would have raised my toddler in a penthouse, like it's just, it's amazing.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's convenient.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: I like the service.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: I love that I don't have to upkeep anything.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: I love that there's a person to call for this or that or whatever is going on.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I've convinced myself that I need this
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason that I need the three-bed room is because I want to turn one of the bedrooms into a closet.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: What would be the price difference between the new spot in the one you live in now?
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Another $3,000.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: Extra.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: You deserve it.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: I deserve it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: Don't I?
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, sure.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: I believe you deserve whatever you want.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I have a friend who they have, they have an incredible home, but they want a different feeling.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I've been doing the subdivision life for too long.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: I want something different, right?
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: And their home, I don't know, mortgage I would guess is about $8 to $9,000 a month on their mortgage.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: They just list a penthouse.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: But not even a penthouse is a really, really nice condo.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: for $25,000, but it's still have the house.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: Just wants something a little different, shake things up.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I mean, what depends on their financial situation.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: The financial situation allows for it.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: So now I'm sitting here and I'm like, I could pay $3,000 more.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean, I could pay three, like I could pay three, that I could, right?
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like I could, like I can, I could do that.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: No problem.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and this is how I talk myself into things.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: So then I say that the same.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now my friend has like this really banging like condo that they just put a lease on and all the things.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I know people will say, oh, it's dumb because you don't own it.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I get one life experience.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna do what I want to do.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: You deserve it.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I deserve it.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I do own a condo.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: But I like to move around.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: So here's the thing.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: I go to the building's website to see what's available.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm convinced if you gonna go do this at 25, I can definitely do this for just another $3,000 more.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I go to the website and they released a penthouse.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm looking at this floor plan for this penthouse.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, I deserve this.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: I really do want it.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at it.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then I said, request more info.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know how much the penthouse is?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: how much for the, and let's, let's paint a picture just so people know the penthouse isn't just another nice apartment in the building.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's, it's the, and, and so you guys have seen some influencers put some penthouses on the internet, right?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: Those be apartments.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was a nice view.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: With a nice view.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: The penthouse is the two story.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Top of the building is gonna be your top floors only.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: This particular building is like 61 floors.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: So this is gonna be like floors 60 and 61.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Two stories, panoramic views, all the fixings, everything you want.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: But there's 20,000 dollars a month.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: You deserve it.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, have I done it.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: You deserve it.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't deserve that yet.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I have to now, you know, I am willing to.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't deserve that yet.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't deserve that yet.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: I am willing to pay whatever I want to live, however I want.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't let people fear munger me into owning the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, my my mystery, she got a crib that I own.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm worried about.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I cannot.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: I was willing to do a cool like 12.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: 12.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: I was I could have done just for one year just to have that kind of house life Mm-hmm.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I could have done it like what I'm just imagining me being Mary Jane my Gabrielle Union season Where I'm just like penthouse view skyline what mm-hmm do it again.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm timid in men
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: what that intimidate.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that would intimidate me?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, because you're not letting me up to the house like that.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: So it is for you.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: In the penthouse, I might entertain.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: I might entertain a situation.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's 12 billion.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's 12 billion.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: For 12, for 12, for 12, for 12.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to see this.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody else got to come and experience this with me.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I just, I just love it so much.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing it.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to do that.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: But this is where I am right now.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: The next question is what's a financial commitment you made based on money you expected to make?
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of money, the business has already proven it could make it consistently.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: That wouldn't be me getting the $20,000 penthouse off of what I expect.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: I expect the, okay, nothing, I'm not afraid that way, I don't operate off what I think is going to happen or what growth I think is about, I don't do that.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever spent money too slowly on something?
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: All right, for sure.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: All right, all right.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Irene.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: So you had an inflection point where you kind of need somebody, but you don't want to commit to it because if it slows down, but if it starts picking up, you might lose opportunities because you're not operating at a high velocity because you get handle.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: You can't handle at the time the velocity, so the velocity of the business slows down because you've waited to make that decision.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: What's up CEO, your business is not necessarily at the beginner level and you hadn't quite hit scale yet.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: You're consistently making money, you have confidence in your offers and you're getting some testimonials about your products and services.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: The problem is you cannot get to that million dollar mark for some reason and the issue is you are the smartest person in your business, you're the smartest person in your brand, you're the smartest person as you talk to, you need community and coaching.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: Those things would take you to that million dollar level.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm being totally honest with people today, oftentimes you know what it is that you have to do, but you're so busy trying to do everything that you can't get your thoughts straight.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: You can't sit down long enough and get clarity and you end up staying stuck where you are in your business.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: We want to invite you to change that and walk into a new season with us.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: In the social proof circle, we have created a community for entrepreneurs who are interested in personal

- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: So click the link, join the social group circle.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Will see you in there.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
- 26:16[UNKNOWN]: Peace.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: I have hired two slowly, two.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's also hired two quickly, so.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know that I've hired too quickly, but I have for sure consistently hired too slowly like I think about when when I hire and I understand the result of hiring somebody when I understand the how how that decision has taken my business to the next level.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, man, I should have done this a year ago when I first thought about it.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how much further along could we be right now?
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: If I had done this a year ago when I first thought about it.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that would be, but yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't buy stuff based on money that I expect or client that I still, there have been people who, you know, you get approved for a house and you get so excited you start.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: finance and all this furniture and then you can't get the house because you're not supposed to buy stuff in this process and now you're like it's like I'm paying for something in advance for something that I'm expecting to come but I'm such a pessimist.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even really have full confidence in like my own expectations like that.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: You're a pessimist?
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah a little bit.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: Are you more of a pessimist
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, shows up as caution.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: So in this assessment, I'm a high C, a C is very analytical, and they think caution, which is how I like my attorney to operate.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want you to tell me, well, I don't want you to be fine.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to be cautious.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: What if this happens?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: What if that happens?
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: What if this happens?
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a part of how I operate.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe it's slow me down in some ways, but
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I always operate, I usually operate from a place like I'm going to run all of the scenarios, but I usually lean to what's in favor of working out for me.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I always think things are going to work out.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so it'll be fine.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there's a closing like we're going through the process.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say they accept the offer.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: In my mind, I never plan for it closing necessarily.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: I plan for it.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: I may not announce it.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: I plan for it, though.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: I definitely plan for it.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so distracted.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: I see.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not you.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm that right there.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'll lower just a little bit.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like I'm so I'm in here right here and then I'm over here.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going on in the studio y'all and my attention is like all over the place.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at her page walking around them over here talking I'm like oh my god, I'm so distracted.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's like what's it?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: What's it?
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: I've gotten used to that because in first when she did it I'm like oh my god, what's going on?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: Are you trying to tell me something but the sound the walking in all I'm like what the heck is happening?
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: I usually see things from the positives, but I am not so optimistic that I prematurely announce things.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't like a premature announcement.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's where you and I differ.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_00]: You love a good premature announcement.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, rock it or not.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna announce everything.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: Because I know what I'm gonna go after.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: It helps me old kind of ability, but even if somebody says hey, I got your money And I'm gonna pay you on Friday.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't expect that to come.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: I want it to and I'm not like thinking all that all week But I don't know this is I'm this is maybe that has inspired against me I can think of somebody who owes us money now and they've owed us money for the last three years
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: And every time that person says, I'm going to pay on Friday, I'd be like, OK, we never got that little money back.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, maybe I need to be not so negative.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: We got to this is ultimately about what decisions we're making as entrepreneurs, like what decisions do we make as business owners that maybe we make prematurely or maybe we make too far behind the eight ball and it's keeping us
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that I have been slow to say yes to some things and if I had said yes to those things, I could even be a little further along right now.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever how do you think about paying yourself like what should an entrepreneur know before increasing their personal distributions from the company?
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: I set myself a salary that I think first the health of the business and will me paying myself more hurt the business.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: I paid myself enough to take care of my lifestyle.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I calculate my lifestyle is not like I come up with an arbitrary number.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: I calculate what my lifestyle is, how much is my mortgage, how much of my car notes, and all that kind of stuff, I calculate that.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm saying, I don't necessarily, I don't necessarily desire to have an abundance in my personal life where I just do a bunch of cool things personally.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm more so desire and abundance in my business where I have the flexibility to invest in something
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: need both.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: When I'm thinking about what I must earn like my personal distribution, I'm factoring in which trips do I want to take?
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Where do I want to live?
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: What do I want to buy?
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: What do I want to invest in?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: Who do I want to help?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: I need all of that.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, I just feel like I'm living in the pay bills.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm working to pay bills.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't travel much though, so.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: You got to get out of the
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I did set a date where I got a finished this book, and I just got a, you know, my permission to slide by my wife, but I'm proposing a date, like a week somewhere, just to write the book.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: I have to just lock in and write, but I can't do it while I'm in Atlanta.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: But that, you know, I think you could go get a sleep like at the Waldorf and just lock in.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, if I'm in Atlanta, I'm an in a need me to do something.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to the studio or I'm a do this or my kids might have something to do and they want to hang out.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: You're doing?
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: We still have to plan our six year anniversary trip.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with that.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: We allocated that in the budget.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Remember?
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: December.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: Is it December?
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: Our birthday, ma'am.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I was thinking like two weeks from now.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: Because when the Bart bay comes, then there's a bright nature.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, I'm cool, I'm cool, but I gotta get this week of just me and me writing, writing, writing, writing, writing.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we're not gonna have fun.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I also go, you know, to the pool, I mean, it has to be a place that has water.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you like to do.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: It goes to the pool and eat french fries.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna eat french fries.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe I'll be, Adam, I said, no, I won't even be out.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: You won't be out of the 75 hard time.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: How is the 75 hard challenge going for you?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: Really good.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I realized that I am going to be in New Orleans during the 75 hard challenge.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know what we started?
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: September first.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: We don't finish until October 15 November 15 I am going to be in New Orleans the last week of 75 hard.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so I have to stay in extra day or two, just so I can eat right.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: What are you doing?
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: I have a, my family is going.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going with my family for birthday and like you don't go to New Orleans and not be able to eat bread, sugary drinks.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I have to stay another day or two so that I can close out the trip with what I want to eat.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: How old are you like a little 65?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: No, we've already committed and the way that can we pause the 75 they come back and knock out the last 15 days?
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely not.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: What data are you looking at?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_02]: The first week in November.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be deep into it and here's the thing.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: You can't get to the last two weeks of the challenge and throw it all away because then you're starting over.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I know you don't celebrate holidays, but I am so thankful that this is over before Thanksgiving.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: because I need to eat my food.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do away.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of trip is the trip you can't eat?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: A trip where you can't eat.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: I remember, I forgot.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember when we were in Tampa?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: We were there for, I think, a myron golden mastermind.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: And me, you, Neo, all of us, whoever the gang was, that was there at that time, we went to this, the seafood restaurant.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: Neo sent, oh, you gotta go, they got the best this, they got the best that.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I was on a water fast, a juice fast, a liquid fast.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: And you were sitting right here, and Neo was sitting right there.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: and y'all took pleasure in passing crab legs back and forth.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: Pass my face.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: Thinking that I would break page, they took the butter sauce and just passed the occasion, butter sauce and passed it.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I sat there with the cranberry juice.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like my break.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just won't.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't happy about it.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: See food is my crab legs, favorite food.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: Cross it, favorite food.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm not gonna break.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe instead of like out of the country, I just go to like I go to what's the name clear water.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: You were going to you were going to go out of the country.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: You can't go out of country by yourself.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: One is dangerous.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: But you go over here.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: What do you go?
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: My think trip.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like I go somewhere.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like last year, I want to say I did Jamaica.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I didn't know you did that.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think trip over here.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to Miami again.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I pick my amy is in consideration of the fact that you don't like to go out of the country.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I do like local country stuff.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like we do like St. Tom is Virgin Islands or can't cool or something, you know?
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm cool.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to Paris next year for our think truth.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, water in Paris?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: In a water in Paris?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we're going to go to Italy.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, but I don't like authentic Italian.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: I like you know chicken parmesan isn't Italian It's not no chicken parmesan.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: It is a town.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's not It's not so you don't chicken parmesan in the state.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the bread chicken breast pasta Yeah chicken breasts with cheese on top pot.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's not Italian.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's American is chicken parmesan originally in Italian dish
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you so I know that there is this really authentic Italian place that I ordered from here and when I get the chicken parmesan it doesn't come with my little side of spaghetti it's just the chicken It's American it's Italian American yeah, it's crazy.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: It did not it was it was inspired by an Italian dish called Melon Zain ala parmesan
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: or eggplant parmesan.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: So eggplant parmesan is the Italian version.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_00]: And we just took it and made it.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think it still comes different.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot different.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: It says where eggplant is layered with tomato sauce and cheese.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's no pasta.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I realized that chicken parmesan pasta is not a standard.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's just some American smell.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: American fried chicken is spaghetti.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: But here's the thing.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want authentic Italian to give me
- 38:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's like I went to Paris years ago, and I was so excited to try their chocolate in Paris, like, because everybody's like, oh, you've got to have desserts.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: I want it the croissants and the chocolate and the, the pastries.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: I say, oh, this is super mid.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't, I don't want the authentic version.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: My good friend Ashley Fox is like, let's go to Paris, let's go to Paris.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, Ashley, I gotta go places.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: where I am going to just be indulged in delicious food.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: If I can't have delicious food experiences, I don't care where we are.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: OK, I'm not going to enjoy it.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: But she's convinced me that I just didn't do Paris right.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_00]: And at that time, I went with my daughter who didn't eat anything at that time, but chicken nuggets, hamburgers, and pizza, so maybe I need to do it differently.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: I only want to go somewhere that has good food.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: The food got to be delicious.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, and Jamaica, all that food is not delicious.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a, what is it, Conk?
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never eating that.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_00]: But what is that?
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you making food?
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not like...
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: I like curry and jerk.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: It depends on where you go.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: Once they start getting into a goat, I'm not eating that.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to eat goats, okay?
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I don't come for me.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jamaican people but when I go, I stick to the same stuff.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: I want to eat what I can get in America but just make it Jamaican.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: I want the jerk chicken, I want the curry chicken, I want the rice and peas, I want sweet coconut water.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate the coconut that you give me and I'm going to take pictures with it.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I want the sweet cook and no one on that.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_02]: You are hilarious.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to drink it straight from the coconut.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I do drink it straight from the coconut.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's not true.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's not delicious.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Any other dishes?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I will go to Miami for my mind.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: Miami is not the place to go for a thing trip.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, not my thing trip, but for the writing trip.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: Because I know Miami has good food.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: And they're at the water I'm looking for.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I've decided.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: My Emmy only has good food at expensive restaurants.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know any like, see in New Orleans, you could go to the corner store and get good food.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the gas station got delicious food.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: My Emmy, you have to make a reservation for some good food.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna find something.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's get one more question in here.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, one more question.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: Mm.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: Mm.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: Mm.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, let's since we're here, we're talking about, um, we're talking about decisions that were making particularly around our lifestyles and things that we're doing in our business.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: What should an entrepreneur look for before they decide to upgrade their lives?
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: What should an entrepreneur look for?
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, maybe what does the business need to prove before you say now I can upgrade my life?
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: Um, a longer track record of success, mostly upgrade their lives based off of a cool season.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: And you got to ask yourself, am I upgrading because I want to upgrade or am I upgrading for another reason?
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that in order to fit into certain elevated groups that there's going to be a level of upgrade required of lifestyle?
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: Sadly, I think so.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: Was it a Nissan used to add an ultimate that used to have that burgundy car?
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, Lexus.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, you didn't have a Nissan ever?
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: I did just a year ago before I met you.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was before you met me.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I had a Lexus.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_02]: My first Lexus was like 2,000 to 14 maybe.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: Was that when we started the pocket, it was still around that time?
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, 2013, 2013, I got a Lexus.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: No matter what, yeah, really.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, no, yeah, I had a Lexus.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: OK, so do you think if you were still driving that exact Lexus today, you never bought the Rolexes,
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: a popular podcast, but you never bought the Rolexes, never bought the chains, never stopped wearing just your own brand.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that you would be in the same circle that you're in today?
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: And still lived in the apartment that you had before you bought your house.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: The reason I would say no,
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: is not because you're not accepted if you don't have like these trappings of success.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's not the reason.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I think
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: When you upgrade your lifestyle, you upgrade your thinking, and it presses you to go do bigger things and make more.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: When you go get more, you start speaking in the language of the person to ask more.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think it's not that I wouldn't be accepted or anything like that, but I do think that plays a role in the shaping of who you are, your lifestyle, your expectations, things that I nature.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: I believe that my zip codes at some point have definitely validated some things.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: I have seen how I remember walking into a bank one time and I'm in the neighborhood where I live and I walk into the bank and I'm opening a business account and they're typing everything out.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, okay, so what's the address?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: They don't know what I'm putting in the account yet.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's just
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: the posture change.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_00]: The posture one thousand percent change because they knew what it took to live in that particular environment.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I have definitely seen that before.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I also think that.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: We all do it just naturally, just when you see somebody who looks, who's wearing their wealth, who's driving their wealth, I think people will treat it differently as a result.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I agree.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking about upgrading my cart.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_02]: Only problem with upgrading my car is I don't know how well it fits in the house that I have.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're thinking about upgrading your
- 44:28[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get rid of the Tesla?
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now get rid of it.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: What has paid off?
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm thinking about, there's something to having a really nice car and pulling up to a place.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think you've got to invite it more places.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think Neil and I have known have invited me certain places because they just, I'm not in a little car club.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: you're not in the car club and you can't park in the house.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: I know, you can't park, you got to take it to the park a lot, bro.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm never going to park you.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never going to the park.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now I used to be able to park in the, but then, you know, I came park in the other Mercedes that I got.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know, Donnie park at the church and get, and I won't.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just take a black car.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like, again, I'm comfortable when we're on that because,
- 45:14[SPEAKER_02]: I know the goal and the plan.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: What car do you want to get?
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I just feel like I want something.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to get a different car.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: And it's only because I don't think that you should be driving anything made by Elon Musk.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just because of that person?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's a horrible person.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: The car is really cool, though.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: The car is really cool, but there's other cool cars.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not as not as not as affordable.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's like it.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be that.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: Not not any cool car, bro.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's a cool car, but he's not the coolest person.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think you should get rid of that car.
- 45:57[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say, and I don't know that like not wearing a watch has not gotten me certain relationships, because you never know, it's smart.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: When they have something, some people will maybe accept you and say, oh, at least they know what's going on.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure I have been looked up and down in a certain city.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I definitely feel it when I'm not dressed in certain environments.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like I can walk into certain establishments, busted, and I'm like, hmm.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: I can tell that the greeting wasn't the same.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: The greeting was different.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: The level of math helped you was a little less serious.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: But that usually happens in like stores and things like that.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was in Louis Vuitton last week.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I walked in Louis Vuitton and I was dressed in.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: I had just finished working out.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I had on my workout clothes.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I needed to stop in the mall.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I go into Louis Vuitton and nobody greets me.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody says a word and they get everybody at Louis Vuitton.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: No, for you any water?
- 46:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, for sure not.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody offered me anything.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: And nobody's being rude, but everybody looks busy.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: And typically it's an environment like quick trip.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like no matter what they're doing, they're going to speak, right?
- 47:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, I didn't feel disrespected.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't feel like they would.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_00]: they do what cardio with salespeople like cardio with ships do, they see what you put up in, they see how you get out and they say, oh, I want that one, that one looks like a good lead.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so usually that's what happens in these stores like cause, you know, they work off of whatever they work off of, oh, I want her, good lead.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm dressed real down.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: And so it wasn't that they didn't speak, they just weren't eager to come and greet me.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I go into the Louis Vuitton store and somebody finally says, hey, do you need some help?
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just browsing for now because you saw me walk in.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just that person.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: And so then this guy comes up and he's like, I watch the podcast.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_00]: And he, I'm like, shout out to Chris the first of all at Louis Vuitton.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all go shout with Christopher at Louis Vuitton.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I watched the podcast.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_00]: I love everything you do.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's showing me around and showing me stuff.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: And so everybody else is looking and he's trying to find this one fragrance for me, because they just dropped a line of new line of fragrances, a couple of fragrances.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: And there's one that's really popular that was off the shelves and he's going from person to person to see if they may have one stashed away.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so now there's starting to look at me like, who is this woman that he's going above and beyond to serve?
- 48:36[SPEAKER_00]: So there's three new fragrances.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_00]: The one that I thought I wanted is the one he's looking for.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get it because there's not any in the store, but I tried on another one.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wearing it today, in fact.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_00]: that when I got home, I walk out of the store empty handed, I walk home, I go home and I'm like, no, this is it right here.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: Is this when that dry down is something serious?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: But when I walk out of the store, they're all looking like, mm-hmm, she ain't buying nothing, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 49:17[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, they couldn't pull up my profile to see just how much I've purchased in there because they don't care if you're white, black or indifferent.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: They're looking to see if you are their shopper.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sure, sure.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so I go back home and I'm smelling it.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: And the very next day, I go back.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm dressed.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I look good.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: Come on.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: I look good.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm leaving church, in fact.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I look good, everybody's like a piranha on me.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Boba, hey, can I help you, can I help you?
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the end, I'm wearing my Louis Vuitton stuff.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: That thing.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_02]: Come on.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, thank you.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: It was Christopher here.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_00]: Christopher is with a customer.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_00]: It may take him a minute.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: Our weight as long as Christopher needs me to weigh.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: Because I came back for this bottle of perfume, simple purchase.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_00]: Every purchase hasn't been simple.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_00]: Today's purchase is simple.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to go with the person
- 50:06[SPEAKER_00]: felt like they wanted to help me when I didn't look like I was about the shop.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: I waited another 15 minutes or so for Christopher to become available for this one bottle of perfume.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, here's the thing though.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes judging you'd be right.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: I was embarrassed to even be in the mall, but I had to return something, and that was the last day that I had to return it, I'm like, dang, I'm gonna have to go now to make this return.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: I had purchased this stuff from the store and they have like a 30-day grace period.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_00]: I have a bad habit of buying stuff, putting the bag in my closet and never looking at it again.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I had an organizer come over and she's like, hey, what do you want me to do with this stuff in this bag?
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh my god, none of it fit.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I call them and the lady just so happens to say,
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you come on Sunday, I'll make an exception for you.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_00]: You're outside of the 30-day grace period by five days.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: But if you come on Sunday, I'll make an exception for you.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I had to go.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or it wasn't Sunday.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_00]: Sunday is when I went back.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: But whatever day that was, Saturday, I had to be Saturday.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you come that day, I'll make an exception.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is my name, blah, blah, blah.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I had to go.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I was busted.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't have wanted to serve me either.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like I had on, I had to do rag on my head.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: I had on some hot pink crops and probably like I think a mustard yellow outfit and I had been walking some miles that day so I took my sneakers off and just slipped my crops on.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_00]: I get it, but there's also a lesson and you never judge a book by his cover.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: I understand why people judge.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes that cover reflects the inside of that book.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sometimes it does, but do you?
- 51:53[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to me.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about most.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to me.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I know that often.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_02]: I am a career server and I can pinpoint with a really good accuracy.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_02]: If they're going to leave me a tip a good tip or not.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, and I hate that I hate that this game, but I mean, I've never treated anyone different because sometimes, you know, you're sometimes you're wrong, right?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't I don't treat anyone different because they deserve to get good service and I'm serving them because I'm a server and I operate in excellent so I don't judge people however.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: They're with good accuracy.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_02]: Y'all ain't really going to get me a tip.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to get me five, no matter what you order.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that I present as a good tipper in a restaurant?
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: Hard to tell.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: I give you good service now, because you're not, you're not, you seem like you've been somewhere before.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_00]: I see.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: You'll say hello.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh for sure.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to be like loud for no reason.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's just I'm a good tip or and that's probably a fault of mine because I'm going to tip regardless of your service.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's not even a really, for me, as I'm going back to my server history, it's not really about your how you dress, it's who you are and how you talk and how you move and operate.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: bring some bring some bread to the table.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we're going to eat more that brown bread.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give me some more brown bread.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_02]: We both done that not like that.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we both like can I already tell you we're going to eat more this bread.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, can I have some can I have some more bread.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's not how to bring bring bring bring bring every I mean,
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: You ain't going to give me no money, bro.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm still going to give you a good tip.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm still going to treat you the way you treat.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_02]: Because I would like to be wrong.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm telling you, as a server, and a lot of my servers can relate a lot of times, we get it right, based on who you are.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_02]: OK, not color just skin, but based on.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_00]: So then how does an entrepreneur interpret that, like, especially with leads, because when there's a sales call, we usually
- 54:33[SPEAKER_00]: apply like a question there to weed through the tire kickers, right?
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: But there are some people who are going to answer the questions in a way that you can't count, you can't count how much they're worth.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like they're going to say, no, I'm not prepared to invest today, but they are the ones that could invest in your highest level package.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: How then would you tell an entrepreneur to judge when somebody doesn't look qualified to proceed even when they've
- 55:03[SPEAKER_02]: I believe if you're gonna be in business, everyone goes through the process.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_02]: There's a process.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like when people, when you walk in a quick trip, they don't judge whether you look like something or not.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_02]: They say, welcome, welcome, welcome, everybody gets to welcome.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_02]: If I know it's a table that I feel like, based on the last seven years of serving people, this is the type of group that typically isn't going to give me a big tip.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still going to offer them the strawberry lemonade, find out if they want a drink.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still going to do my dessert presentation.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: I, everyone gets the process.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I let the situation judge how fruitful it is for me, but I'm not giving someone less or more energy.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: No body because I'm here to do a job.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: So if I have sales called now somebody signifies that they're not ready Well, that gives me more data.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still going to be respectful.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still going to act as if they might be ready until they say I don't got the money right now.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not doing this or your process might say if they answer this question this way
- 56:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you get the process that says, you aren't qualified.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to spend time trying to convince you that you are qualified.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm only wanting to get on the phone with people who are, at least telling me that they're qualified.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_02]: But everyone gets the same process based on the process, not who you are as a person.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: Or you'll throw them into the backup process to ask Donnie.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: let Donnie make the decision because I'm looking at an email that I received right now in a real time of someone who has apparently had an interaction with you but now they're being pitched to me to be a guest on this lecture through five years.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say their name on the camera.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let me see it because I don't say their name.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, it could be cat.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_00]: I can't be like, oh, David, it's a, unless it's like, because if this person already met you, then why scroll down.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's a scroll down.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, none of them.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: I did you did say it.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 57:18[SPEAKER_02]: but I was like, oh, but this is a person that was brought in.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_02]: But this isn't him saying, like, I, I, I talked to him.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_02]: So it looks like somebody is interpreting our conversation to you, but he's not ready.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_02]: So he didn't say, yo, let me be also.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, you can't be also screwed.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's never a no, you can't be on social proof.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: You'd be like, yeah, my man.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_00]: Look, just wanted by Donnie real quick.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, I would never do that.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_02]: I would never do that.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's selection process and there's single icing them to you for sure.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: You see five.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know my type.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think you like them.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think you like him.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get him booked.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's fine.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's super cool.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's super, uh, he's smart, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
- 58:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's see if we can get them on a, it looks like though he wants to talk about business.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_00]: So he may not want, did you mention selection process to him?
- 58:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think so, yeah.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, from this, it looks like a story is done.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I would interview him, actually.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: I would interview, but I just don't remember him asking me.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: I would apply.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: But if we talked about selection process, I probably was like, y'all, you need to update, she enters the singles, something like that.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_02]: But he's dope.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_02]: incredible.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_00]: What do you love most?
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love the the feedback that's been given from people who are struggling in this area.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_02]: I get the feedback from people that are struggling in their relationship space, but I also get the people who are operating in excellence and they're giving their perspectives of what's coming out.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm loving it.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_00]: the people who are operating in excellence, what do you mean?
- 59:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you can never tell, but people are seasoned.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: Getting their perspectives of the conversations.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_02]: Very valuable.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_00]: I love it as well.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: I do love it.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_00]: What I love about it, I am getting obviously single people.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, who are watching it, but I'm, and giving feedback and that feedback can vary, but I'm also getting feedback from married people who often say things like, man, watching this just remind it me to go and tell my wife I love her it just reminded me to make sure I go and appreciate my husband or, you know, whatever the case may be because sometimes they look at people and
- 59:57[SPEAKER_00]: they can see a version of themselves in the scenario where they can see an opportunity where they need to grow or be better.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: They'll look at somebody like, oh, I really like that.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_00]: I like that transparency or they'll look at somebody and be like, oh, I don't want to be a part of any of that.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_00]: at the end of the day, we get really positive feedback.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever I go into the comments and engage with the comments on that show, it's always people who are like, y'all don't ever stop this show.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, y'all love it.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all love it.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think selection process is going to be in 12 months larger than social proof was in that same time frame.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_02]: And there's some people that need to grow this because we got the picture on now.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_02]: is in the description.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes it is.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes it is.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: Listen.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: And the Patreon I'm telling you guys, it is.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's an experience.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like it is such adult experience.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we got to wrap up this episode.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_02]: So we could like prepare it and make sure it's ready to go.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_02]: This is an experience, we're saying this, it's so funny because we've been delaying and I would take the the brunt of it.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_02]: We've been delaying this because I guess we just got a bunch going on, things that are nature and we're actually actively shooting the show and we want to give the people that are viewers and fans of the show and experience and we're about to drop a bunch of content in
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: So what I love about what we're doing now with the Patreon.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, people will still be able to see the episodes on YouTube, but we're putting a little bit more in the Patreon.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_00]: I did an incredible after the show and after the show kind of behind the scenes take with a previous with a recent guest of a episode that hadn't dropped yet and just kind of like,
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_00]: They were so nervous like what happened like what because sometimes feel people feel like Especially on my show because sometimes people come on my version of the show Sometimes people come with like the wildest stuff and I have to be like all right now And they think that maybe I've cornered them or what but sometimes you don't know that people are coming in They're looking for a viral moment or they're coming and they really want to get something off their chest Like they they really want to talk about a thing and so the behind the scenes you get to fit you get to learn
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: what they were nervous about, what they wish they would have answered differently.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's, that's one that's been working a lot, Dave, I'll say so based on this conversation what's one thing you said that you wish you didn't say or something that you said that you wish you would have said differently because it's always, always after the show it's like dang I wish I would have said or a man I wish I wouldn't have said.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: is there now.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_00]: But why do you wish you wouldn't have said it?
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to get the there always an authentic interview.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: But when people know it's not going to be on YouTube, there are authentic her.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_00]: You'd like that word?
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's a more authentic.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_00]: They're they're authentic her.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: I can make stuff up if I want to.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_02]: You can.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's really.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm explaining our stuff.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you want the offense to occur, if you want the more authentic takes and conversation, we show you a little bit about what happens as we're getting set up before the interview ever starts.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then we give you more on the back end of what's happening after the interview was over and you want to be a part of that.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_00]: You want to be able to give direct feedback.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_00]: Guarantee responses and community conversation and things, join us in the Patreon.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: You'll see the link wherever you see this code.
