- 0:43for all our shows is go to our website at
- 0:45www.worldwidesportsradio.com. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Nicks
- 0:51are down by 8. Makes me sick to my stomach.
- 0:54But it's a high scoring game. You don't want to see that when
- 0:57you're what you're playing the Pacers because the Pacers are
- 0:59playing high pace and when they're playing a high pace
- 1:02game, it's going to be a high scoring game.
- 1:04I think whoever wins this game is going to score at least 130
- 1:07points in this game. The Knicks are going to have to
- 1:08play shut down defense, call Anthony Towns needs to come back
- 1:12in the game and and help Jalen Bronson out on the on the
- 1:15offensive side of the ball. It's I love Josh Hart, but there
- 1:20are times where I wonder if Josh Hart is playing in the same game
- 1:24that we've seen over the last couple of last couple of games.
- 1:27I I mean, there are games that he just, he plays very well and
- 1:29then he doesn't show up in a certain quarter.
- 1:31And then I wonder if he's even playing in the game.
- 1:34He's out, He's letting this team out, rebound him out beat him to
- 1:38the ball. And and that's something that
- 1:39Josh Hart doesn't allow and doesn't usually do.
- 1:42I want to see more beat, you know, game changing defense for
- 1:46guys like Josh Hart and and then obviously, you know, Mitchell
- 1:49Robertson and then Jaylen Bronson take over the game and
- 1:52not shoot breaks because at the tail end of that tail end of
- 1:56that two minutes of that quarter, Jaylen Bronson shot two
- 1:59shots and couldn't hit a lick. So he gets into these spurts and
- 2:02and this I say this isolation is going to affect the Knicks
- 2:07winning this GameStop with the isolation.
- 2:10Pass the ball to the open guy and let the guy hit the shot.
- 2:13Caitlin Clark will miss at least two weeks after suffering a left
- 2:18quad strain during Saturday's game versus the New York Liberty
- 2:21India. The Indianapolis Star reports
- 2:24that the quad injury is not the same one that prevented her from
- 2:28playing in the preseason game against the Brazil Brazil
- 2:31national team. Several WNBA fans on social
- 2:35media believe that this injury has been as a result of many
- 2:39instances where Clark has been unfairly knocked to the floor
- 2:44and contacted on plays that aren't basketball plays.
- 2:48Ryan Brewer and the Professor of Finance made a projection that
- 2:54Caitlin Clark's presence is likely to create over 1 billion
- 2:58in revenue for the WNBA in 2025. Brewer mentioned that Caitlin
- 3:02Clark was responsible for 26.5% of the WNBA's entire economic
- 3:09activity during her rookie season.
- 3:12Since Clark's rookie year, merchandise sales having
- 3:15increased over 200% and officially double official WNBA
- 3:21gear has increased over 500%. Clark's merchandise has also
- 3:25been top 20 among all athletes on Fanatics since her rookie
- 3:30year. 41 out of 44 of the Indiana Fevers games are
- 3:35nationally televised games since the season.
- 3:40Since this this season because of Caitlin Clark.
- 3:43And I don't know why you put that Speedy, but what whatever.
- 3:46I'll I'll say this. Caitlin Clark is the face of the
- 3:50WNBA. She is the Steph Curry of the
- 3:54WNBA. She's not only going to bring
- 3:57deals that are going to you're never going to see the WR you
- 4:01would have never have seen the WNBA get if it wasn't for her.
- 4:05Because of what she does. The young, the young fans, the
- 4:08young athletes, the young girls that want to see her play her
- 4:12seats. When you go and watch a fever
- 4:13game in Brooklyn, when she in Brooklyn last year, the seats
- 4:17were $400.00 or more that even the high boonie seats were
- 4:22$400.00 or more. I mean you have a better chance
- 4:25of seeing LeBron James or Steph Curry then you see Caitlin
- 4:29Clark. She is a a full grown superstar
- 4:32for the WNBA. This is what you want to see the
- 4:34WNBA have. It's going to bring in many
- 4:37opportunities for these young ladies, these ladies to make a
- 4:41living for their families, not have to go overseas, not have to
- 4:45to play in Germany, not have to play in Lithuania, not have to
- 4:48play in Spain or Portugal. This is an opportunity where
- 4:52these girls can play 82 games in a season like the men do and
- 4:56where they're getting shoe deals that are worth 10s of millions
- 4:59of dollars as Caitlin Clark just got a first shoe deal.
- 5:02This is good for the WNBA. Why is there so much hatred for
- 5:06Caitlin Clark And I, I, I agree with some of the fans.
- 5:10I I've watched her get slammed on the ground.
- 5:12Now I'm not saying Caitlin Clark doesn't plan her own fouls and
- 5:15and some of them I would say are bad fouls by Caitlin Clark.
- 5:19But the what these some of these girls do when she's going up for
- 5:22a layup or going up for a 3.3 pointer and they're knocking
- 5:26her, her ass the way they have over the last couple, like
- 5:30really last year and a half is despicable.
- 5:32And the WNBA need to protect their superstar player as the
- 5:36LJA always does. The LJ LeBron James Association
- 5:40protects their superstars. They have to protect this girl.
- 5:44She is going to bring in a significant amount of money for
- 5:48this, the WNBA and for women's basketball, for women's sports.
- 5:52This is what you want to see, merchandise going off the
- 5:55shelves. Her being a top 10 merchandiser
- 5:59and she will be by the end of this year.
- 6:01Her jerseys are going to sell just as much as WNBA player.
- 6:05I mean, all the WNBA players put together, all the NBA players
- 6:08right there amongst the NBA players at Major League players
- 6:12and then even NHL players there. She stands for something for
- 6:16basketball. And this is what you like.
- 6:18I know everybody loves Steph Curry.
- 6:20He changed the the NBA, the three-point shot.
- 6:23She's changing the WNBA. This is where girls are going to
- 6:27actually want to play girl, you know, women's basketball instead
- 6:30of running track and field or swimming or doing something of
- 6:33that magnitude, they're going to want to play women's basketball
- 6:36because there's money in it and there's fame in in it and
- 6:39there's opportunity to become a star in it.
- 6:42This is great for women's basketball.
- 6:45I don't want to see this anymore.
- 6:46I don't want to hear it anymore. And I absolutely agree with
- 6:50whoever's writing it, Brewer, Mickey Mantle, you know, in his
- 6:53grave or anybody, whoever's writing the story, they can
- 6:57continue writing the story because their stories will be
- 6:59written 15 years from now when the WNBA is going to be a multi
- 7:05billion dollar organization. Teams are going to be worth
- 7:08millions and millions of dollars.
- 7:10I would say closer to the hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 7:13Instead of buying the WNBA team is worth what, 20,000,015
- 7:17million? You could go out and buy your
- 7:19own WNBA team. Ask Alex Rodriguez, he just took
- 7:22over the Timberwolves and took over this this WNBA team.
- 7:26By the way, it's a pretty good WNBA team.
- 7:28So I, I just, I think that this is good for basketball.
- 7:32Why are we complaining about this?
- 7:34Why is everybody pressing on this young lady?
- 7:37Let her play her game. Let her bring in opportunities
- 7:41for some of these girls to make money that they couldn't imagine
- 7:44making. And their families and their
- 7:46daughters and their their sons get a chance to see mommy go out
- 7:50there and play year in and year out basketball. 82 games in a
- 7:53season where they don't have to fly to another country and and
- 7:56try to get school taught by some woman named Bertha from Spain or
- 8:01something. I'm just saying, Yeah.
- 8:03And there's a lot a. Lot of the reasons they got.
- 8:05A lot of weird names over there. Bertha.
- 8:07More tree. You know Gertrude, you know the
- 8:10weird ones. Yeah, and also you look at like
- 8:12you were talking about like why they're not getting as much
- 8:14money overall. One of some of it is a shorter
- 8:16season. 44 games in a season is not a lot, but again, the
- 8:19revenue could go up. You're looking at possibly maybe
- 8:21a 6070 game season, which is going to help more.
- 8:23Also, there's not a lot of teams comparatively to the NBA and the
- 8:25WNBA because they just can't afford it because they're not
- 8:27making enough money because of this revenue that has been
- 8:30showing. And even if these projections
- 8:31aren't exact, like the fact that their projections that are going
- 8:35up 200 and 500% in just merchandise and and gear a lot
- 8:38alone, that's already the accelerated start that you're
- 8:41going to want to have. If you hear just over 90%,
- 8:44that's great. When you're hearing 200% and
- 8:47then 500% increasing by the end of the season, that's
- 8:51ridiculous. That's ridiculous.
- 8:53And he he was mentioning in that report to a lot of the things
- 8:55about the ticket sales, a lot of the things about if Indiana
- 8:59Fever game specifically even going back to last year too.
- 9:01And I think that is where the element of Caitlin Clark brings
- 9:05it from a national standpoint to even just for even from other
- 9:08regions as well. It doesn't be just home games.
- 9:10It could be all the road games across the WNBA.
- 9:12You're going to get more expansion teams that way, which
- 9:14will allow more players to, like you said, make their living
- 9:17playing in the WNBA where these rosters are very small and
- 9:20there's just not a lot of teams to go along with it too.
- 9:22And somebody like Clark, there's a reason she was Time magazine
- 9:25Athlete of the Year last year. Like the influence?
- 9:27Well. I I also believe she was time
- 9:30athlete of the year because of who she was and and what she's
- 9:33done for women's basketball, not because of being that she's
- 9:38white or she's a woman. I don't think it had anything to
- 9:40do with it. I know a lot of people think
- 9:42that, but it had nothing to do with it.
- 9:44She came to the WNBA like on fire and and everybody,
- 9:48including yours truly thought that she was going to score.
- 9:51Yes, 30 points per game. And I know snogging and Jeff
- 9:54want to make jokes, but the girls doing even better than
- 9:57that. Even averaging 16 points a game,
- 9:59she's averaging almost a triple double.
- 10:01That's better than 30 points a game.
- 10:03So make a joke all you want. She's doing something that the
- 10:06WNBA is has never had nobody. You can go up and down some of
- 10:10the great women's basketball players of all time, even Lisa
- 10:14Leslie, remember her. None of those girls will ever be
- 10:18what Caitlin Clark has been for two years of the WNBA's
- 10:22existence since she's been there.
- 10:24This is great for women's basketball.
- 10:27It's great for men's basketball. It's great for sports.
- 10:31Why is anybody bitching and moaning about this?
- 10:34And. This is great.
- 10:35Yeah, the other thing too, the last bit of the.
- 10:37That report that was mentioned to 41 out of 44 being prime time
- 10:41games or or feature games on these big networks.
- 10:43Like you don't see that in any sport like the NBA.
- 10:46That's not true. Aaron Rodgers with The Jets give
- 10:48me AI mean where it's all but three games.
- 10:50I don't I don't think they had 14 out of 17.
- 10:52Aaron Rodgers. Well, there's there's not enough
- 10:54games over there in, in in in the NFL.
- 10:57If there was 40 games in the NFL, don't you think that if the
- 11:01way Aaron Rodgers was being portrayed when he went to The
- 11:03Jets, they would have had 25 out of the 40 games on national
- 11:07television? Games.
- 11:08Yeah, because she's a star. They're going to be on
- 11:10nationally televised position. I think the most we've seen in
- 11:13NFL channels whatever 10 or 11 though, like not even not even a
- 11:16hot that that's 90 / 90% of your games being nationally.
- 11:20I just, I think there's a problem with some people that
- 11:23when it comes to jealousy, there's no reason to be jealous
- 11:25of anybody. You think Jabba was jealous of
- 11:28Phil Hughes when they came up together?
- 11:30Or was Jabba, you know, obviously jealous of any of the
- 11:33young pitching relief pitchers that he came up with that he was
- 11:37being compared to? No, he went out there and played
- 11:40his butt off and he proved to everybody that he was a better
- 11:43pitcher than both of all three of those guys.
- 11:45So that's what you do. Go out there, if you think
- 11:47you're better than Caitlin Clark, go out there and beat
- 11:50her. Go out there and show everybody
- 11:52why you deserve the spotlight from her.
- 11:54But until you do that, there should be.
- 11:56Any complaints? I think it's and I, and I hate
- 12:00that it. This is kind of a little bit of
- 12:03the narrative like because she is a white female doing what
- 12:06she's doing in a, in a predominantly black dominated
- 12:09WNBA where you know that now they're realizing that she's the
- 12:14truth. And you know, if you can't beat
- 12:17them, join them. But then if you can't beat them,
- 12:19you beat them. And I think we've seen that in
- 12:21the frustrations because they're like, what is she doing?
- 12:24Like she's being Caitlin Clark. And like, I never really watched
- 12:30the WNBA, but if it's on and there's nothing on, I'm I'm
- 12:34going to check it out. I'm going to see what she's
- 12:36doing. Of course, done everything.
- 12:38I mean, she's done everything the right way.
- 12:41She's handled it perfectly, which why wouldn't she?
- 12:44Like, first of all, obviously she's surrounded by a great
- 12:47group of people, inner circle. She doesn't.
- 12:51Have to like she just goes out, plays her game well, let me just
- 12:54sign another course. It's a tough one for me because
- 12:57she is from Iowa, but I, I was spoiled because I got a watcher,
- 13:03you know, because all of the, the big 10 and stuff here.
- 13:06So, but I it doesn't make sense to me how you can hate on
- 13:09somebody for being. Good like.
- 13:12I don't it does like it doesn't make sense when you're body
- 13:15checking her and doing whatever. Like I I don't understand.
- 13:19I agree with, by the way, Kevin Fitz coming out on our our group
- 13:22message over here saying that what is what is all the hype
- 13:26with the Angel Reese? Angel Reese obviously was a
- 13:29champion. She won a national championship,
- 13:31but that's great for her. Congratulations to Angel Reese.
- 13:34The problem with Angel Reese is ever since she came into the
- 13:37WNBA with Caitlin Clark, she has some kind of like she hates on
- 13:42her. I mean, Angel Reese wouldn't
- 13:44have gotten all these deals that she's gotten through
- 13:46sponsorships and advertisements if it wasn't for Caitlin Clark.
- 13:49They're both superstars. They both can be compared to
- 13:52each other and that's what you want.
- 13:54They could be the bird and magic of the WNBA.
- 13:57That's what you want to see. You want to see?
- 13:59Did you? See what they're calling her
- 14:00rebounds though? Because they're not rebounds.
- 14:03They're calling them me bounds because she's she misses.
- 14:05She's shooting less than 30% from 4 feet.
- 14:08Errol, she did something that I've only ever see Charles Smith
- 14:11do on a basketball court the other day, and that was just get
- 14:155 rebounds and brick five shots over and over and over.
- 14:18Again, the only time I've ever seen that it was like the
- 14:20Belgian national team or something like that in the
- 14:22Olympics, I think. It it's, it was pretty comical,
- 14:26like she's a really good rebounder.
- 14:28I think it might be a little overblown about her offensive
- 14:31prowess is at least at this point in this in her career, but
- 14:36she does your right job. But she is just been some well,
- 14:40I think it goes back to the fact that she won a championship in
- 14:43college and Caitlin didn't. And Caitlin got the popularity
- 14:48because she's a much better player, but she got the
- 14:51popularity and she won. So she feels like since she's a
- 14:53champion, she should get that popularity.
- 14:56And that's that's an interesting kind of reason to be upset at
- 14:59somebody. But I think as we know, there's
- 15:01some other components that go along with it too.
- 15:03Pagebacker's won a championship. She's not upset with Clark.
- 15:07Well, I know. It's just that they obviously
- 15:09faced each other. They were rivals, like head to
- 15:12head rivals in the media, obviously made big deals of it
- 15:15at the time because they're both very outspoken players in
- 15:18college basketball. One just happens to be
- 15:20significantly better than the other.
- 15:22Well, Paige really can't either because she was kind of, I guess
- 15:27she could be on the Mount Rushmore of NIL Dales for
- 15:29college basketball, for women's, because she was the first one to
- 15:32ever get like a a decent deal coming out of high school.
- 15:35And then obviously she had some injuries.
- 15:37But yeah, no, like there's no reason.
- 15:40I I think there's, there's some underlying things too.
- 15:43But I I want everybody to be successful because let's look at
- 15:47it this way. If she's getting more money and
- 15:49I play good, that means I'm going to have a chance to make
- 15:52more money. Like, why aren't they
- 15:53celebrating one another? Like wouldn't you want like if a
- 15:57dude signs a bigger contract than me, like you're excited
- 16:01because you're going to have a chance to sign that.
- 16:03And he said of Mark. So now she's said, like,
- 16:05wouldn't you want to celebrate that?
- 16:06Because OK, so she's getting these types of deals.
- 16:08So we're getting more eyes on our product.
- 16:11Now maybe I get to sign something that I necessarily
- 16:13wouldn't, like sing their praises.
- 16:15Like I love when a dude signs for a crazy amount of money
- 16:18because then that gives the people behind him.
- 16:22I had a chance to be like, Oh, I can, I can shoot for something.
- 16:24I play well, I can do this. So I just I don't have any room
- 16:28in my body for hate in any way, shape or form.
- 16:31I don't care what it is, but you should want to celebrate all of
- 16:35these girls that are playing Paige Angel.
- 16:38I mean, shit, Donald's value meal or whatever it was named
- 16:40after you signed with McDonald's.
- 16:42You're you're doing something. So celebrate them, enjoy them,
- 16:46embrace them. Like I just for the league to
- 16:50not embrace these young women cuz let's really they're young
- 16:54women and to see how it's kind of flourished and what she's
- 16:58done and the magnitude of how. That's right OG, Sorry I had to
- 17:02do that. I.
- 17:03Have to. I have to, I have to cheer for.
- 17:07Did you guys see Spike's hat? What it?
- 17:10Spikes is spikes got to stop with the crap.
- 17:12But by the way, Josh, you're right.
- 17:13Wright is playing fantastic. He did have that double, triple,
- 17:16but nevertheless. To be fair, he was trying to
- 17:19make like an awesome pass and he realized he couldn't.
- 17:21He's like, oh, he got, he got. Caught in between?
- 17:24No, Still a lot better than anything campaign did.
- 17:28The entire playoffs. Oh stop.
- 17:29Why is camp? That's why.
- 17:31Campaign's not playing because but they're playing good
- 17:33defense. And now you can see this
- 17:35rotation should have been going on all playoff long.
- 17:38I don't understand, Thibodeau. Look at the speed that the
- 17:41Knicks are playing with. They're be able, they're running
- 17:43up and down the court with this young team because they got
- 17:46right and they got Comet. They're they're actually playing
- 17:49young ball basketball, something that the Knicks haven't done all
- 17:53season long. Now they're finally playing this
- 17:55base. Why couldn't the Knicks beat
- 17:57them? They did it in game #3 and if
- 17:59they do it in game #4 and they keep playing at this base, the
- 18:02Knicks should win this game. What's going on over here This.
- 18:05Job was a big fan of Josh's comments.
- 18:07Stevie Wonder is better than campaign.
- 18:09He's probably right. He's probably right.
- 18:11I mean, campaign is probably, I think campaign's probably more
- 18:15blind than Stevie Wonder actually.
- 18:17Every time he shoots the ball, I wonder if it's going to be an
- 18:20air ball or if he's even going to hit the rim.
- 18:22So I campaign is just as like I said.
- 18:26He's definitely I'm campaigning. Any teammates to pass to?
- 18:29I said it in the beginning of my take.
- 18:31I'm campaigning that we never see him for the rest of the the
- 18:33playoffs. Okay.
- 18:34I don't want to see him anymore. It's absolutely horrendous
- 18:38watching that guy play. It's the ugliest shot I've ever
- 18:40seen since Sean Marion, so you know.
- 18:43What? You know what Tibbs is doing?
- 18:44I used to work for a guy and job.
- 18:46I'm sure you've had coaches like this as well.
- 18:48And Earl, you probably have had him too.
- 18:49Yes, where they do like this, where they just know how to call
- 18:53the right blitz at the right time and you're like, how the
- 18:55hell did you come up with that? Or like, you put the guy on like
- 18:59for a late switch and it's going to lead to a goal arrow.
- 19:01Or, you know, in baseball, you just know, like, remember, we
- 19:04were watching, you know, the the Indians put in that big, big
- 19:07Noel or whatever is Nick. Nolan's Noel at 100 Merry
- 19:11Christmas, John. 'S John's strickencio or
- 19:14something and they just knew to put him in at that time.
- 19:17Some guys just have that sixth sense and they all those coaches
- 19:20and the one that I, I'm thinking of, the guy I played for, he
- 19:23always said there's a method to my madness and that's Tibbs.
- 19:27Tibbs is just one of those old school coaches who's if he,
- 19:30whatever he does, he's got a reason for it.
- 19:33He's not going to tell you what that reason is ever.
- 19:36He's just going to say, you know, this was the right move
- 19:39because he felt like it was the right move and that's why they
- 19:41pay him to be in charge to make those moves.
- 19:43Well, after watching Jalen Brunson and foul the way he has
- 19:47in this series, they need speed too.
- 19:49They don't have any and with these older players, and I'm not
- 19:53saying Bridges or OG and Obi's old, but they don't play running
- 19:59gun basketball with Comet, with McBride and then obviously with
- 20:04Wright. That's that type of game that
- 20:07they play. And that's if the Knicks want to
- 20:08win this series, they're going to have to play running gun
- 20:10basketball at least in the mid parts of the game in the second
- 20:14and third quarter, because in the fourth quarter becomes a
- 20:16half court game and whoever makes their shots is going to
- 20:19win the game. That's what usually happens in
- 20:21basketball. It becomes a time out.
- 20:24You know who goes on the? On the runs, who's on the
- 20:26hottest runs in the fourth quarter and who keeps those runs
- 20:30keep, you know, obviously, going where it's a 10/2 or or 15 three
- 20:34run. And the Knicks need to do that,
- 20:36by the way. Triple H is at the game, by the
- 20:39way. I'm sure he is he is looking for
- 20:41new for new talent. This guy had the. 15 Here we
- 20:43are, baby. Can he hire campaign?
- 20:46Maybe he could take over there. Please, I'd shove campaigns head
- 20:50up a triple HS ass. That's what I would do.
- 20:53It's like a giant. I'm not going to say it, I just
- 20:55want to be nice. I'm.
- 20:56Going to be nice. I'm loving the Landry Shamit
- 20:58minutes. I this is something I've been
- 21:00calling for as well. He's a good defender, A.
- 21:02Little bit he's a good defender, he's a good shooter.
- 21:05He there's no real reason why he wasn't playing other than he had
- 21:08that injury in the beginning of the season, didn't even make the
- 21:11roster because he was coming back from that injury and but
- 21:14they always stayed in ties with them.
- 21:16It's just a really good job of roster construction having guys
- 21:19like this. But now you have them and you're
- 21:21going to use them at your disposal.
- 21:23And why is Tibbs doing? If there is a method to his
- 21:25madness, it's because Rick Carlisle is such a good coach.
- 21:28You know that Carlisle has come up with ways to stop his normal
- 21:30rotations. So what does Tibbs do?
- 21:33OK, how about something I've never done before?
- 21:36He put out a rotation setup of five guys that he had never done
- 21:40all season in game three. He knew how you prepared for
- 21:43that, Carlisle, and he wasn't. He knew that if he didn't do
- 21:47this, they were going to lose this series, and it wasn't even.
- 21:49I think it's because Carlisle is too good.
- 21:50I think it's just we need to keep throwing different looks at
- 21:53this, this coach, because he's going to have an answer for us
- 21:56and that's you got to give. I think you got to give some
- 21:58tips a little bit more credit than we're giving him.
- 22:01I give obviously I, I believe Leon Rose had something to do
- 22:04with I, I believe the executive, we're in all involved in the
- 22:07conversation that we need to change this rotation and make
- 22:10this rotation a little bit more faster, especially in the second
- 22:13and third quarter, which the Knicks have been just
- 22:15absolutely. Well, really the first quarter
- 22:18and, and in the third quarter have been the worst quarters.
- 22:20And by the way, that's what I want to see Karl Anthony Towns
- 22:23do, draw fouls. That's what I want to see him do
- 22:26because that puts them in foul trouble and that puts him on the
- 22:29line, which she's a 92 or 93% free throw shooter if he
- 22:33actually hits the ball the fat ass.
- 22:35But that's just my opinion. That's something the Knicks can
- 22:37do, by the way, in that in game three, Brunson and Hart hit 43
- 22:42throws down the stretch. Cold as ice, no problem.
- 22:46And as a fan, there's many times where I've been like, Oh my God,
- 22:49I just I know you're going to miss one of them.
- 22:52I had complete confidence and they both and they hit both of
- 22:54them. Each of those guys we got guys
- 22:56that are have just like steal of nerves at the end of games.
- 23:00I love it. I love that we have guys like
- 23:02that and I love that Towns is a good shooter like that as.
- 23:04Well, and he missed the free throw.
- 23:06As I, I said, the fat ass was going to miss one.
- 23:09I, I hate watching Karl Anthony Towns play this game because he,
- 23:13he, there are days that you're, you're wondering like is his
- 23:15heads in the game? Is his head in the game or is he
- 23:18his head up his ass? Because how do you miss a free
- 23:20throw? You're a career 92% playoff free
- 23:24throw shooter and you're missing free throws.
- 23:27You shouldn't almost missed that one rolling in the rim.
- 23:30So it's a problem and and the Knicks need to be can be more
- 23:33consistent. They definitely have to be more
- 23:35consistent. He missed the oh I'm sorry, it
- 23:38was 3 points. He missed both of them.
- 23:40And then Tyrese Halliburton hits a three pointer.
- 23:42Typical. How do you miss 2 free throws
- 23:45and you're you're the best free throw shooter on the New York
- 23:48Knicks? Well, he's he's not that as good
- 23:50as you're saying. He's only like 80% but he he.
- 23:5393% throughout the playoffs throughout the playoffs in the.
- 23:57Playoffs maybe. He didn't miss one earlier
- 23:59tonight. He had a couple earlier in the
- 24:00game. Look that it's bound to happen.
- 24:03You're going to miss a couple. I'm not worried if he keeps
- 24:06getting there. Just keep getting there.
- 24:07Like you said, put them in that trouble because once their bigs
- 24:11go down, there's not much they're going to be able to do
- 24:14against this next team. If they can't protect the R.E.M.
- 24:17All they have is perimeter defenders and I'm not really
- 24:20worried about them. So I would.
- 24:21I love this attack mode from towns.
- 24:24I think this is exactly what they need to.
- 24:25Do they need to put them in foul trouble?
- 24:27They need to put the the Pacers where they go to their bench and
- 24:30and put players in that are not comfortable playing in this.
- 24:33Wear them down. You're better than them in the
- 24:35fourth quarter. I, I trust the Knicks in the
- 24:37fourth quarter after what I've seen this post season, I really
- 24:40do. But you got it.
- 24:42You got to stop playing from behind.
- 24:43You got to stop being in foul trouble when you get there.
- 24:45So right now they're doing a halfway decent job.
- 24:47Hit your free throws. Hit your damn free throws.
- 24:51I mean take more of them than the other team.
- 24:53Takes I don't care you're you're you just hit.
- 24:55You just hit one out of three hit all of these right here.
- 24:59You got to hit him. I don't want to hear any no.
- 25:01He's he's got him. He's he's, he's hit like six of
- 25:03eight tonight. He's still.
- 25:04He's still it doesn't matter. We we I again, the Knicks have
- 25:07to every single point counts in this series, especially in this
- 25:11game, because if they fall behind in this game and they
- 25:14lose this game, they're going back to New York 31.
- 25:16The chances of them winning is very slim there how many teams
- 25:20again has has come back from this 1313 of them.
- 25:23I I don't think the Knicks are going to be one of those 13
- 25:25teams. They need to tie this series.
- 25:28They need to beat them in Indiana, go back home and give
- 25:30them you know, give them the best chance of winning the
- 25:32series as we expected by the way, before we get off and we go
- 25:36to tic tac No, I want to say one more thing about Caitlin Clark
- 25:38that I don't like that fans, you know, not fans, players have
- 25:43treated her over the last couple of years.
- 25:46This girl, OK, has never gone out there and put praise on
- 25:51herself. She's not Anthony Edwards.
- 25:53She doesn't go out there and say I'm the best player.
- 25:55I'm this, I'm not. She goes out there and she just
- 25:58plays her game. She keeps quiet and the fact
- 26:01that she goes out there and after the game and she, she
- 26:04really cheers on her, the girls that she's playing with and
- 26:07she's she's she's changed that organization.
- 26:11Indiana Fever. Indiana Fever was the worst team
- 26:14in the WNBA until she went there.
- 26:16Then they make the playoffs. Now they're one of the best
- 26:18teams in the WNBA. Hi, How could you hate on a girl
- 26:21that's helping your your, your league, helping your sales,
- 26:26bringing in money and revenue to your organization and you're
- 26:30crying about it. Give me a break.
- 26:32Absolutely despicable. Get your head out of your asses.
- 26:36Including you, Angel Reese. What a crappy, gruddy little.
- 26:40You know what? I'm not going to say it, but you
- 26:42know what? I'm you know what I'm trying to
- 26:44say. Anyways, ladies and gentlemen,
- 26:46we do this every single week. We call this tick tack.
- 26:51No tick, tick. Morris right in the butt.
- 26:57We get the prizes cheap because they're stolen.
- 27:01No. No, no, no, no, no.
- 27:06No. Now here's your host, The Tick
- 27:09himself, Owen. The Tick.
- 27:11Ragnar. Ragnar.
- 27:14By the way, every time the Knicks look like they're coming
- 27:16back in the game, they make these stupid mistakes and then
- 27:19they go down by two. Bad pass.
- 27:22Josh Hart makes me sick to my stomach.
- 27:24What the hell are you doing? What are you doing?
- 27:29What are you doing? That's what you get with a
- 27:32player like him though, you know he's he's the transition
- 27:35Tasmanian devil type player. Like he's just causing chaos,
- 27:38he's jumping around. You got to have guys like that.
- 27:41You got to know they're going to turn the ball over every once in
- 27:43a while, too. They gave the ball away again.
- 27:47And I guarantee you on the next drive, he'll end up, you know,
- 27:50running the lane and maybe fixing a Jalen Brunson layup
- 27:54and, you know, to put in it right back in or something like.
- 27:56That he just, he literally just did that.
- 27:58I know they're on delay. I was trying to pretend like I.
- 28:00Know in the future. But guys, we got Tic Tac.
- 28:05No, Speedy, it's been you for since Owen's been out for a
- 28:09little while. I hope that you get to see Owen
- 28:12back soon. I know that we're going to I'm
- 28:14excited for that, but we got some great questions from the
- 28:17one and only Speedy PD. All right, Speedy, start us off.
- 28:20Yeah. So since we had the trend of the
- 28:23three one series, who was the last team to come down, come
- 28:26back down 3 to one in an NBA series?
- 28:28They did so in 2020. 2020 last team to come back down 31.
- 28:33So that's the bubble season. I have my answer.
- 28:35So that's gonna be tough to remember.
- 28:37That's gonna be the bubble season.
- 28:39Nuggets is correct all. Right, there we go.
- 28:40Wow. Tommy.
- 28:41Off the top of my head, that was when those Nuggets were going on
- 28:44like 2 back-to-back three one wins.
- 28:47I forgot who it was against. I think it was the Clippers
- 28:48might. Have been the Clippers.
- 28:49Clippers was 1. You remember the other.
- 28:52One Goody's face or it was spider body the.
- 28:54Jazz and I'll go with Goody's face.
- 28:57All right, Goody's face it is good piece right there.
- 29:02It's like taking the shoe in Monopoly.
- 29:03Where are we going? Let's.
- 29:04Go the middle. Middle, middle, there he is.
- 29:09All right, next question. So.
- 29:11The next one will go to hockey. So Connor McDavid in game three
- 29:14against the Dallas Stars had his 44th multi point playoff game of
- 29:19his NHL career. He surpassed a player that is
- 29:22still playing in the playoffs right now.
- 29:24Who is that? What was that a question?
- 29:27Crosby in the playoffs right now.
- 29:29Who is still on one of the remaining teams in the playoffs
- 29:31right now? So Connor McDavid had his 44th
- 29:34multi point playoff game in his career.
- 29:37So the guy he surpassed on the all time list is still playing
- 29:40in the playoffs right now. Who isn't?
- 29:46This might be like a super random one.
- 29:48It's in the Eastern Conference. It's one of the it's not, it's
- 29:50not no, it's a, it's a big name fish.
- 29:51It's not somebody. In the Eastern Conference.
- 29:53No, but like somebody super random that was a big name but
- 29:57hasn't been in a little while. That's my guess.
- 30:03I don't know any hockey. I do.
- 30:07It's Carolina. It's Carolina.
- 30:09And who? I'm sorry, I'm.
- 30:11I'm lost. Oh, is it Florida?
- 30:12He can't. He can't have that many points,
- 30:15can he? And they haven't.
- 30:18I'm going to say I got 1. There you go for it.
- 30:21Brad Marshall. Errol's correct.
- 30:23That's who I was thinking. It's Marsh and Yep. 43 he had.
- 30:26McDavid just got his 44th. Wow.
- 30:30All right, Errol, where are we going?
- 30:37Bottom left. Bottom left, it is speedy.
- 30:42You're going to have to to, you know, ask us a tougher question.
- 30:47These are pretty easy so far all.
- 30:48Right, let's go to. We need this segment to go a
- 30:50little longer, so you got to do better.
- 30:52Let's go, speedy. All right, we'll go to some
- 30:54baseball for this one. Max Freed right now is a 1.21
- 30:57ERA. As it stands right now, which
- 30:59Yankees starter holds the modern ERA record?
- 31:02So since 1950 for the lowest ERA in franchise history for a
- 31:07starter. So it's not Mariano Rivera.
- 31:09Yeah, first season. So it's not Mariano Rivera.
- 31:11He has the all time with some single seasons.
- 31:14All right, we got to make sure. All right, I'm wow and.
- 31:19It's just this, just the starting pitcher.
- 31:21A starting pitcher since 1950, you said right?
- 31:24Yes, the all time record was some guy like 19.
- 31:26It's going to be somebody that is like.
- 31:28About oh wait, I'm going to go that I'm going.
- 31:30To go. I'll go Whitey Ford.
- 31:35Nope. All right.
- 31:37He is. He did have a one point.
- 31:39I think he did have a 1.68 at some point.
- 31:42I mean, Whitey Ford's a good guess for.
- 31:43You 1.86 Yeah, I think he had one too that was under 2, but
- 31:48that wasn't the one that is the all time leader.
- 31:52Give us a hint. What at what?
- 31:54Like we need, he needs to stump us.
- 31:56He he can't, he need, I mean. What decade?
- 31:58I mean, it's still give us a decade.
- 32:01So he did it in the 70s, OK. We're still not going to get it,
- 32:07so I'm just letting you know. That oh, I know the answer. 70s.
- 32:12And I already blew it. The lowest starters ERA since
- 32:171950. It's a great question. 70s
- 32:27Yankees pitching all. Right, let's get some guesses.
- 32:30I don't know, Tommy, throw a name out there, you know, a
- 32:34single Yankee from the 70s. And when you say people from the
- 32:3790s, I'm going to be feeling old and upset at you.
- 32:41Ron Guidry. I don't know if I say his name
- 32:43right. No.
- 32:44Am I right? Ron Guidry, He.
- 32:45Is late 70s. And he is that he is correct.
- 32:48Right. Yeah, he is.
- 32:52Correct. I didn't.
- 32:53I didn't even. Ron Guidry.
- 32:54Yep. 1.78 or 1.680, you're right, he had that season.
- 32:59Is that the year he won? He won the Sai young that year,
- 33:01didn't. He, I believe he did.
- 33:03All right. In 1978.
- 33:04In 1978. Look at me coming through with a
- 33:06baseball question. Instead of all right, so instead
- 33:10of the segment lasting. Long How is that not a foul?
- 33:13They pushed Mitchell Robinson from behind and they didn't call
- 33:16a foul and they hit it open. It's just ridiculous.
- 33:20Ridiculous. They're I, I'm telling you.
- 33:22What? What?
- 33:24Win 3 Nothing. 1.7 and four, yeah.
- 33:27That year, how is that not a foul?
- 33:29How is that not a foul? They've been fouling the Knicks
- 33:32in this, in this quarter. They're getting all the fouls
- 33:35and the Knicks aren't getting fouls.
- 33:37It's just ridiculous. They they pushed Mitchell
- 33:40Robinson from getting the rebound and that's not a foul.
- 33:44What other questions you got for us, Speedy?
- 33:46All right so some bonuses ones here's my 1 football one that we
- 33:49had who had the most Pro Bowl appearances among cornerbacks in
- 33:53NFL history. I themed this based on Jalen
- 33:55Ramsey who is in a lot more trade talks now.
- 33:58He has the motional and active players.
- 33:59This player who has the all time record has 12.
- 34:03I thought we won already. You're dead.
- 34:05That's just what it's. Curious we need.
- 34:07That's fine. It's fine.
- 34:09We can talk about something else.
- 34:10I, I, I like to talk about the Islanders.
- 34:13I like to talk about the Islanders.
- 34:15I mean, the Islanders did win the draft and they did land
- 34:17themselves a pretty good GM, so we could get into that.
- 34:21I mean, that doesn't hurt. I mean you did that in the Golf
- 34:24Club. Do we have AI?
- 34:26Did it for 2 minutes. Is Keith calling?
- 34:29No, no, I thought Keith was supposed to call.
- 34:32Keith is not calling, he always. Says that he wants to call, but
- 34:35he only wants to call at the beginning of the show that fits
- 34:37into his schedule. She needs his his on topic phone
- 34:40call that you owe him. That's what I'm saying, I want
- 34:43he's waiting and own up for his bet where he has to for one time
- 34:48stay on task. He did.
- 34:50He called to. One topic for the show and just
- 34:54do what we asked him to do. He hasn't done it.
- 34:56He hasn't been on the show yet and do and done it yet, so I'm
- 34:59waiting to hear Keith actually be a good sports radio guest.
- 35:05By the way, Snug, I just saw your comments because I was
- 35:08hosting the segment. I'm not talking about all, all
- 35:11sports. I was just talking about just
- 35:12NBA, not the Red Sox coming back to all three O against the
- 35:15Yankees. It's happened in the MLB and NHL
- 35:18where it's three O. That's never happened to the
- 35:20NBA. I was just talking about 3-1,
- 35:21the last team in the NBA and Alex Ovechka is also not still
- 35:25in the playoffs. By the way, I don't know if
- 35:29anybody's ever done this before. Has anybody actually put their
- 35:32their feet in their mouth to chew their toenails?
- 35:34Has anybody actually done that before?
- 35:37Anybody. Have to chew them.
- 35:39Yeah, you put your. You mean to like RIP to like RIP
- 35:41them if? Like no, like hanging something.
- 35:43No, I'm talking about put your foot in your mouth to take.
- 35:46Like just to chew on your toenails.
- 35:48Yeah, your toenails. Have you ever?
- 35:49Done that like you needed, like you're out of sunflower seeds.
- 35:52You're like toenails are closed. No, I'm just saying that if you
- 35:54ever put your feet in your mouth and try to, you know, clip your
- 35:57toenails with your teeth, have you have you ever done that
- 35:59before? Come on, don't lie.
- 36:02Don't lie. I would tell you, I mean, I've
- 36:05had my butt hole licked. I don't care.
- 36:06I'm going to tell you the truth. I'm sure you have Speedy has.
- 36:09Too, That would. Yours was probably from a woman.
- 36:14And they were probably both on all fours.
- 36:18No, I got, I got folded up like a lawn.
- 36:19Chair. Hamstrings and knees up up top.
- 36:27Baby pulls it out of my ass. Pour into stretch.
- 36:30I had just I had just left Patty Mcguire's at about as long as
- 36:33she's using dude wipes and taking care of my 2 hole, I'm
- 36:35good. Were there dude wipes used on
- 36:39that day? Java.
- 36:40That is the real question I. Mean.
- 36:41At least he admits to it. He.
- 36:43Haven't. It was straight from.
- 36:45It was straight from barstool to hold it up like a lawn.
- 36:48Chair, you know that would not. Pasco do not show.
- 36:50That would be like an all time selling video if you actually
- 36:54had that recorded. Java Chamberlain getting his ass
- 36:57licked. Overall, so I didn't know what
- 37:04was going on. That was my first experience, so
- 37:06it kind of caught me off guard. But John, it's funny you
- 37:09mentioned that, you mentioned that reference with the bar, but
- 37:11my my brother Aiden, who just turned 21 last year, actually
- 37:15got a actually got a beer Monopoly themed game.
- 37:18I like anal Christmas. Stick.
- 37:22Yeah, Well, I, I will say this. I've, I, I ask you this question
- 37:26because when I was a kid, I, I used to have, I used to do that.
- 37:30I'm not going to lie, I used to do that.
- 37:31But I will say this and I, I want to, and we have, we got a,
- 37:35we got somebody actually watching and Lyle, he's a big,
- 37:38he's a big Islander fan. And I, that's why I wanted to
- 37:40speak a little bit about the Islanders because this is a big
- 37:43story. What do we got over here?
- 37:45What is that? All right, we'll get into that.
- 37:47That's fine. We'll get into that after the
- 37:48hour. Yes, that's fine, but what I
- 37:50want to say? Gosh clips his nails with his
- 37:53mouth. He does.
- 37:55I clip, I clip. I.
- 37:56Used to I used to I used. To this, this lady does this all
- 38:00the time the halftime show she kicks the things on her head
- 38:08like I've seen her like 6 times. I'm watching it right now too.
- 38:11I, I don't, I don't really care. I'm watching.
- 38:14I'm watching the Knicks get absolutely robbed by the
- 38:16referees. I don't care about a lady
- 38:18putting plates on her head and dancing around on a stilt,
- 38:21whatever the hell she's doing. But yeah, we got Lyle.
- 38:24I think it's Lyle. Allegedly, Lyle he doesn't want
- 38:27to claim to admit that he's actually.
- 38:29In the chest, definitely Lyle. It's definitely Lyle.
- 38:31And but I will say this and I, I, I want to get back, I want to
- 38:35finish up. I do want to say something about
- 38:37the Islanders because I know I said that on my sport, what was
- 38:41my Golf Club, The Islanders deserve a lot of credit.
- 38:44And I, and I, I want to say this because I am an Islander fan and
- 38:48a lot of Ranger fans have tortured the Islanders over the
- 38:51last couple of years because of Lula Amarello and some of the
- 38:54executives they have brought in. And I can name a torturous
- 38:57amount of crazy, terrible executives the Islanders have
- 39:01brought in and bringing in somebody like this it, it shows
- 39:05that the Islanders actually want to win.
- 39:08That's what it, that's what it tells me right now.
- 39:11And the Islanders and, and why doesn't Matthew are Darsh not
- 39:14want this job? This is an opportunity for him
- 39:18to get the number one pick in this year's class.
- 39:20It could be me. So it could be Hagen, it could
- 39:23be Schaefer, it could be any one of these guys.
- 39:27And no matter where they go and I, I I stay away from the
- 39:30defensive man, defence man, even though he's the number on
- 39:32prospect on practically everybody's list.
- 39:35I don't draft the and the first pick in the first round.
- 39:38I don't draft the defenseman unless he is by far the best
- 39:40player in this class. And I don't know by far with me
- 39:43saying Hagen, some of the guys that they have, I I'm telling
- 39:46you right now, it's Schaefer, whatever, Why?
- 39:49Who cares? You know what, you want to give
- 39:51him a name? If the Islanders draft Schaefer,
- 39:54I'm going to smack you in the back of the head, OK?
- 39:57I do not want to see the Islanders draft a defenseman,
- 40:00OK? I do not want to see the
- 40:02Islanders do that. You draft me, Sir.
- 40:05He's the best player on this class offensively, averaged a
- 40:08point and 1/2 every single game. That's where you go if you were
- 40:12the Islanders and and by the way, for your Islanders, yes,
- 40:15Lyle, your Islanders that have choked year in and year out and
- 40:20not really drafted the right guys.
- 40:23They finally have a chance with Colin Ricci and they have guys
- 40:28in their farm system that are going to get called up in the
- 40:30next couple of years. They got a good young prospect
- 40:33in Colin Ricci, like I just said.
- 40:35And now you have the number one pick in this year's class, 2
- 40:38number ones in next year's class and two number ones in a year
- 40:41after. You can practically rebuild your
- 40:43team if you draft right in the next three years.
- 40:46So, yeah, if you're an Islander fan and you're Matthew Darsh,
- 40:50you should be very happy to take this job because he could
- 40:53absolutely rebuild this team. You don't have, I think Kyle
- 40:57Palmieri is a free agent, if I'm not mistaken.
- 41:00They could start, you know, getting rid of old players and
- 41:03building around the goaltending that they have.
- 41:06They still have to, I think, trade one of these defence men,
- 41:10maybe Mayfield, maybe one of these guys.
- 41:13That's where I would go if I were the Islanders and start
- 41:15building around some youth and, and, and you have Barzell still
- 41:19there. I said this, sweetie, I told you
- 41:21this. A couple.
- 41:22I I think it was a couple of weeks ago we had this
- 41:25conversation. I think Josh was on the phone
- 41:26with us. Yeah, I remember.
- 41:27This, and I said this, I said that the Islanders, before they
- 41:30won the draft, before they got the number one draft, I said
- 41:33that the Islanders are either going to have to trade Barzell
- 41:37or what's his name again, Horvatt, Horvatt.
- 41:40They were going to trade either Horvatt or Barzell in the
- 41:42offseason to rebuild this team. Then all of a sudden Lou
- 41:45Lavarella sleeping Lou trades Brock Nelson at the trade
- 41:49deadline and gets gets Colin Ricci, which I have no idea what
- 41:54Colorado was thinking, and two first round draft picks and 1/3
- 41:58for Defore and Brock Nelson, who by the way, Brock Nelson might
- 42:02not resign with Colorado. So they traded away three first
- 42:05round draft picks for one guy who's a rental, who by the way,
- 42:08they couldn't even get out of the first round.
- 42:10I I mean, this is a by the way, is by what is he saying?
- 42:14Right drafting right is taking. You.
- 42:17He wants to take Shaffer, apparently.
- 42:18Let me tell you something, Lyle. If the Islanders take Matthew
- 42:22Schaefer, it's the biggest mistake that organization makes.
- 42:26You don't draft a defenseman. They got already a bunch of
- 42:29defenseman and they got a #1 defender.
- 42:32Right now you draft the offensive players.
- 42:34DAW, The Islanders have been one of the worst offensive teams in
- 42:38the NHL for the last, I don't know, century.
- 42:41OK. And you go after the best
- 42:43offensive player, not a defensive player.
- 42:46That's the problem with Islander fans.
- 42:48They're blind. They're blind.
- 42:51Matthew Shaffer. That's what you're going to show
- 42:52us. Get Nisa, get Hagen.
- 42:55That's where you go. Got all of them.
- 42:57Shaffer's highlights in my opinion are the best.
- 43:00He seems to do more on the highlights that I just.
- 43:03Hagen's looks incredible every time I watch him live,
- 43:06especially in that tournament. And Mesa I haven't seen as much
- 43:10but I have some highlights. I'll put them all but.
- 43:12Higgins was like the consensus pick for a while, probably up
- 43:15until January. I'm going to tell you, I'm going
- 43:17to tell you this right now. If the Islanders don't draft
- 43:21Mesa, if they don't draft him, the Islanders are making a big
- 43:24mistake. I'm just telling you right now,
- 43:26if they don't draft this kid Mesa, who's 6 foot almost 6 foot
- 43:30three with speed, could play defense and offense, penalty
- 43:34killer. He's averaged a point and a half
- 43:36a game in the OHL this past year.
- 43:38They're making a mistake. No, I'm not wrong, Lyle.
- 43:41You're wrong, Lyle. Lyle, let's, let's not get into
- 43:45the Islanders. I know you're an Islander fan,
- 43:47but you, that you think so highly of the New York Islanders
- 43:50organization and the Islanders and a bunch of chumps.
- 43:53They've made so many mistakes, so many executives.
- 43:56And you Islander fans spend your money to watch this team, this
- 43:59old man team go out there and lay up lousy goose eggs, OK.
- 44:04And, and for you to even think that for them to draft a
- 44:08defenseman as the number one pick, big mistake.
- 44:10And, and if the Islanders do that, I, I don't even think, I,
- 44:13I don't even think I want to watch the Islanders this coming
- 44:16year. I, I, I want the kid Misa.
- 44:18That's where I go. Yeah, I was going to mention
- 44:21before we go to sign it out, I just wanted to say, like a lot
- 44:23of times when you're building the foundations of the team, a
- 44:26center that has that much speed in today's game is the perfect.
- 44:28And he's a defensive center, right?
- 44:30And I was, I just could play wing.
- 44:32I was mentioning this too when we brought it up in the Islander
- 44:34segment we did two weeks ago when they won the number one
- 44:36pick. He's another guy that's very
- 44:37hard to get off the puck too for his side, which is the perfect.
- 44:40Thing car is what first of all call macar.
- 44:42You keep bringing up macar, nobody's macar.
- 44:45Stop this. You you want to compare it's
- 44:48like this is a big problem. It's like comparing Adam Fox to
- 44:51Brian Leach. It's retarded.
- 44:53It's dumb. Why are you bringing this up?
- 44:56He's not in the car. Stop with this crap.
- 44:59He's not stop it. And the guy can't stay healthy.
- 45:02And Colorado, when they drafted Mccarr, had still good offensive
- 45:05foundation already to do that. The Islanders have some decent
- 45:09players, but they're not Nathan McKinnon and Rotnen and those
- 45:11guys that they had when they Mccarr was drafted as a
- 45:13youngster and they had just a bad year.
- 45:16So they ended up getting that high of a draft pick.
- 45:17They have. They need to start the
- 45:19foundation on offense like they did with Tavares.
- 45:22And this prospect in Mesa is better than Tavares.
- 45:24And a lot of aspects where speed, yeah, speed.
- 45:26And like I said, it's hard for him to get off the puck.
- 45:29Tavares had that problem at the beginning in his career and he's
- 45:32much better defensively. That's a virus.
- 45:33Ever was. If the Islanders draft
- 45:35Schaefers, they're making a big mistake.
- 45:38And, and I'm going to tell you this right now, Matthew Darsh is
- 45:41not drafting A defenseman as his first pick in his first time as
- 45:45a as, as AGM for the New York Islanders.
- 45:48I guarantee you the Islanders are not drafting Schaefers.
- 45:52Guarantee it. You could book it, cook it,
- 45:55Lyle. And if I'm wrong, Lyle, I'll buy
- 45:57you a steak dinner. But if I'm right, Lyle, you're
- 46:00buying me a steak dinner. How about that?
- 46:03Tell me the last time you ever got a perennial N candidate
- 46:05you'll never get. Them, what are you talking
- 46:07about? They have a perennial Norris
- 46:09candidate, a candidate if they actually get him and they put
- 46:12him in the right position to to do what he does best and that's
- 46:15put the buck in the net. They got a great defense.
- 46:18Man, that's all. Those Norris winners don't
- 46:19usually win it. He's actually a great he's
- 46:21running. The top five offensive Talented
- 46:24defenseman in the league. Why do you need another one?
- 46:27Why do you need another one? And most of the time the Norris
- 46:29winners are not great all around defenseman either, so you can't
- 46:32really use that award as a Merrick.
- 46:33I'm sorry, Lyle. Lyle forgets that.
- 46:36Lyle forgets that the Islanders can't score goals and they
- 46:39scored the last year. They had the the least amount of
- 46:42three goal games out of all the teams in the NHL last year.
- 46:45Three power play and a bottom three power play.
- 46:47But we're going to go with the defenseman.
- 46:49That's where we're going to go. What a ridiculous statement.
- 46:52You're an Islander fan. You want to draft a defenseman?
- 46:57I, I, I, I just here's what I think Here.
- 47:00I'm, I'm here. It is.
- 47:01There it is. There it is.
- 47:02Papadoodle looked it up. I think a couple of weeks ago,
- 47:05Errol, there's only been like a couple of defenseman picked that
- 47:08high in the last 25 years, yes. No, he's no way.
- 47:12It just doesn't. If there's a look you want to be
- 47:15sitting at three, I would say in this draft because you just sit
- 47:18there and you land one of these three really great players,
- 47:21probably the defenseman. That's where that's where I
- 47:23think they go because right now, who's the number 2?
- 47:27Who's? San Jose San Jose is 2 in
- 47:28Chicago. San Jose is drafting an
- 47:30offensive player, so it's Hagen. Hagen's going to probably what
- 47:35Hagen and Hagen played in that tournament.
- 47:37He looked pretty damn good. I'd say Hagen to Mesa One and
- 47:41the island. Just pass up on Mesa.
- 47:43You island fans are going to regret it.
- 47:45If the Islanders do that, they're regretting.
- 47:47They're going to regret it. I'm telling you right now, OK?
- 47:50I have Shaffer as one, all right.
- 47:52You're wrong. You're wrong.
- 47:54That's all I'm going to say. You're wrong anyways.
- 47:56And by the way, I'm going to enjoy my free dinner and liar,
- 47:59you are going to Take Me Out to the dinner.
- 48:01Don't give me this thing like you're going to take me to
- 48:02Burger King or Wendy's or Taco Bell.
- 48:05I want a nice dinner. I want a nice dinner.
- 48:08That means if I want to go to a top end, give me a give me a
- 48:12good steak dinner over here. I don't know.
- 48:15I'm not even thinking right now. I'm not going a Sizzler, OK?
- 48:19I want to go to a nice. Sizzler, yeah.
- 48:21Hey, don't, don't, don't throw that Olive Garden.
- 48:24Olive Garden. I love me.
- 48:25I love me a square Patty. There.
- 48:27There you go. I I I want myself.
- 48:28I, I How about this? What is?
- 48:30I'm trying to think of a steakhouse here.
- 48:32I can't think. I can't.
- 48:34Like like a Ruth's. Chris or something?
- 48:35Yeah. Insignia.
- 48:36That's where you're going to take me to.
- 48:38Insignia where, you know, the steaks are like $100 each.
- 48:41That's what you're going to do. Because I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm.
- 48:44You could book it. You could book it, ladies and
- 48:46gentlemen, you could take it. I promise you, the Islanders are
- 48:49drafting an offensive player. You can book it 110%.
- 48:55They're not going defenseman. You can book it.
- 48:57That's all I'm going to say. And now, ladies and gentlemen,
- 48:59before our guest comes in, we call this sound it out, say.
- 49:02Roll here. Jay Quelen?
- 49:04Who's Jay Quelen at? No, Jay Quelen here.
- 49:06Do you mean Jacqueline? Let's sound it out.
- 49:08What you call? Me.
- 49:10Sound it out out. OK, guys, sound it out.
- 49:15We do this every week. It's just a funnel game where
- 49:19Errol gets to learn and be educated about some of these
- 49:23names that are a little bit more obscure in sports.
- 49:26And Errol, we're going to stay where we were last week because
- 49:29we had a great WNBA story tonight.
- 49:32We will stay with the WNBA. And you have three names to
- 49:36decipher. Are you ready?
- 49:38Go ahead, spit it out to sound it out.
- 49:41Oh. My.
- 49:43God this is a second team all WNBA player.
- 49:47Naneka Ogwamaki, am I right? No what?
- 49:54The. Hell no.
- 49:55It's a great effort but incorrect.
- 49:59What is it that's not going to get it done?
- 50:00What is it? It's pronounced NECA.
- 50:03The first N is silent. NECA Ogwumaki, I guarantee.
- 50:09You, if you didn't actually pick these words, these names, you
- 50:13wouldn't have gotten that either.
- 50:14So go ahead. You, you get a chance to sound
- 50:16it out because you get to look them up.
- 50:18Guy, give me another one. Let's hear it.
- 50:20I'm you. You.
- 50:21It's just great that you get to hear these names and learn them
- 50:23though you. Know no, I'm never going to
- 50:25remember it for the rest of my life.
- 50:27Why do I all? Right, here we go.
- 50:28Next one, Errol. Sound it out.
- 50:33I have no the first one. Michaela.
- 50:38Halfway there. On yen where onion where onion?
- 50:44Where you were so close that is not correct.
- 50:50It's Michaela own yen Where it's ridiculous.
- 50:58It was a great effort. You're over 2 still.
- 51:00One more chance. How wonderful.
- 51:02One more chance to embarrass me to get on the board.
- 51:05I don't think you've had a single one where you haven't
- 51:08gotten at least one. Yeah, well, that's because.
- 51:10You're giving me these? Crazy names.
- 51:11I'm never going to be able to sound it out.
- 51:14I don't think anybody could you imagine Niff and try to sound
- 51:16these things out. I would love to hear.
- 51:20You I'll negotiate a deal. One is.
- 51:22It shut up on your face. Errol, good luck on this one.
- 51:28Sounded out. Are you kidding me?
- 51:31What I I asto nidorful? What the hell kind of names are
- 51:43these? Who gives their kid a name?
- 51:45Professional athletic names. They're not what these names
- 51:49are. Are you kidding me?
- 51:50This name is pronounced Astudu Fall.
- 51:54You think a studio? A studio?
- 51:56The N? How about doodoo?
- 51:58Are all silent A doodoo fall. Don't marry.
- 52:03Hyphenated fall, a studio. Snatch and that I like anal.
- 52:10We all like it. Now here's my here's my
- 52:13negotiation. We all have Nathan do sounded
- 52:15out next week. If we also could have Nathan do
- 52:17analytics. I'm not.
- 52:18Doing any freaking tag team? That would be an interesting
- 52:22guest spot for for Nathan. Anyone.
- 52:28Somebody's got to let it go, right?
- 52:29Speedy? Will you let it go?
- 52:31No, Nathan will let it go. Well, Nathan always lets it go.
- 52:33I mean, everybody lets it go. Even Jabba.
- 52:35Like, frozen Beneficial as we all know that Jabba likes to let
- 52:39it go. Especially.
- 52:40I have to ask Jabba's fiance how bad his farts smell.
- 52:44I mean, seriously, it probably stinks.
- 52:46It depends on what he's eating. What are you?
- 52:48What are you rubbing over there? You're rubbing your.
- 52:50Nose itches all right, your nose itching.
- 52:52I feel like in Nebraska. Cocaine, ladies and gentlemen.
- 52:55Jabba sniffing cocaine. I'm sorry.
- 52:58At least 40% like made-up of corn like for sure like the
- 53:01farts generate with the corn ethanol gasoline inside you from
- 53:06the the natural no essence of Nebraska.
- 53:10Somebody's got. A corn Well, we have we have
- 53:12soybeans too, for. Alternative fuel.
- 53:14How about this? Has anybody tried to light their
- 53:17fart on fire? I mean, I've heard it.
- 53:19Actually, you can do that. You can do that.
- 53:21I've seen it done. Could How about this?
- 53:24Who dares me to do it on live radio?
- 53:26Who dares me? I've done it.
- 53:27I put Ben Gay on my, you know, my wonderful snozzo over there
- 53:33broke a record. Ladies and gentlemen, World
- 53:36Records has one on that one, Errol.
- 53:38Would you? Would you?
- 53:38Be able to get a good angle in the studio.
- 53:40I think I could. I think I could.
- 53:42Who dares me to do it? I mean, this is I'm gonna have
- 53:45to shave my. I gotta shave some clean over
- 53:47there. I mean, I gotta clean it.
- 53:48I gotta be Mr. Clean over there You.
- 53:50Don't have to be naked to do it. What are we talking?
- 53:52About I mean, I'm gonna stand over there, I'm gonna light
- 53:54freaking. What the hell is wrong with?
- 53:55He lights it on fire and there's some like, you know, backdraft
- 54:00or wind. There's some hairs in that area
- 54:02that got trapped. I saw a dude.
- 54:05On a. TikTok that like blew up in his
- 54:07face. That sounds terrible.
- 54:09Yeah, you just made my nipples hard, pulled it out of my ass.
- 54:13Yeah, somebody's got to pull it out of his ass.
- 54:15Especially me when I'm taking a crap.
- 54:17Anyways, I'm going to do this. Who dares me to do this on live
- 54:20radio? Fine.
- 54:21I dare you. I dare.
- 54:22You all right so we got to pick a day and I'm going to have to
- 54:24get ready I'm going to have to clean on that area I mean it's
- 54:27clean anyways. I'm the cleanest person when it
- 54:29comes over there, but I I wonder how people are going to be able
- 54:32to see it. You know, I'm going to have to
- 54:33get the right angle. Speedy, you're going to have to
