A Muscatine police officer shot during a high-speed chase is recovering after being hit in the elbow—thanks to quick action, the suspect, 59-year-old Mark Lee Jackson of Des Moines, was apprehended Monday evening. The incident began Friday night when a deputy tried to stop a car that refused to slow down, swerved wildly, and crashed. Jackson fled on foot, then triggered a pursuit where he allegedly opened fire. Police caught him without incident on Oak Street around 7:30 PM Monday.
