- 0:09Speaker 1: What's going on.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This is the check Odally Andrew de Cheko, Eagles beat
- 0:13Speaker 2: reporter Friendsidethebirds dot Com, and our positional preview continues on.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I've discussed quarterbacks, running backs, tight end, and today I'm
- 0:24Speaker 2: going to take a look at the wide receiver room
- 0:26Speaker 2: where there are a lot of questions and I'm expecting
- 0:29Speaker 2: it to have a new look going into the twenty
- 0:32Speaker 2: twenty sixth season. Well, I guess we'll naturally start with
- 0:36Speaker 2: AJ Brown. There's been a ton of chatter for the
- 0:41Speaker 2: better part of a year now as to whether or
- 0:44Speaker 2: not AJ Brown will be traded or whether he's going
- 0:47Speaker 2: to stay in Philadelphia and play out the rest of
- 0:50Speaker 2: his deal. There's been so much discourse surrounding the AJ
- 0:54Speaker 2: Brown saga, and it would be disingenuous for me to
- 0:56Speaker 2: sit here and tell you that I'm leaning towards one
- 1:00Speaker 2: way or the other. I've teetered between different on different
- 1:05Speaker 2: sides of the fence there based off of information that
- 1:08Speaker 2: I've gathered this offseason. Look, the NFL scouting Combine is
- 1:12Speaker 2: approaching next week. That's where a lot of conversations take place.
- 1:16Speaker 2: The Eagles certainly aren't going to give away AJ Brown
- 1:19Speaker 2: for a song, it's going to take something pretty substantial
- 1:22Speaker 2: to blow them away.
- 1:24Speaker 1: But make no mistake about it.
- 1:26Speaker 2: And this feels like it goes without saying, but the
- 1:28Speaker 2: Eagles are a much better football team with AJ.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Brown on it.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Look at the levels of success that they've had with
- 1:36Speaker 2: him in the mix.
- 1:36Speaker 1: They've been to.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Two Super Bowls with AJ Brown as the top receiving
- 1:40Speaker 2: option on this offense. But I guess the root of
- 1:43Speaker 2: all this is derived from what does AJ want? Because
- 1:48Speaker 2: if AJ wants to go somewhere else, if he won't
- 1:51Speaker 2: be happy, or if he has questions about whether or
- 1:55Speaker 2: not he's going to see the kind of volume that
- 1:57Speaker 2: he likes week in and week out, they'll be games
- 1:59Speaker 2: where he would see nine ten targets a game. But
- 2:03Speaker 2: that's not going to be something on a consistent basis.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Not with what we've seen, it's been a low volume
- 2:10Speaker 2: passing attack. AJ has talked about his willingness and his
- 2:15Speaker 2: infatuation with having an impact on a game and dominating
- 2:19Speaker 2: the player in front of him, and this offense isn't that.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It doesn't present those kind of opportunities on a week
- 2:28Speaker 2: to week basis, And so it ultimately comes down to
- 2:31Speaker 2: if you'r aj is this where you want to be?
- 2:34Speaker 2: He's set, He said all the right things, and there's
- 2:38Speaker 2: going to be so much poking and prodding and discourse
- 2:42Speaker 2: that's going to continue through the offseason because this isn't
- 2:44Speaker 2: going to quiet down any at any point. But if
- 2:48Speaker 2: you're going to implement this style of offense where you're
- 2:51Speaker 2: not going to throw the football at a heavy clip,
- 2:54Speaker 2: maybe on an average of twenty five times a game,
- 2:56Speaker 2: I think that feels reasonable. I would make the argument
- 3:00Speaker 2: to pre eminent wide receivers in Devonte Smith and AJ Brown,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you can make an argument that you wouldn't and I
- 3:07Speaker 2: think you could in theory, get by with a DeVante
- 3:10Speaker 2: Smith and a rookie wide receiver. And let's say I
- 3:14Speaker 2: don't know Romeo Dops, who's a free agent and has
- 3:18Speaker 2: familiarity with Sean Mannion and Ryan Mahaffey, probably falls right
- 3:23Speaker 2: within a price range that isn't going to be prohibitive
- 3:27Speaker 2: for the Eagles as they look to retool, or they
- 3:32Speaker 2: have a lot of questions and a lot of pieces
- 3:34Speaker 2: that they're going to try to look to keep in house.
- 3:37Speaker 2: But Aj Brown had over one thousand yards last season
- 3:40Speaker 2: just to tick over one thousand and seven touchdowns seventy
- 3:44Speaker 2: eight catches, So it was considered a down year for him,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and he clearly wasn't happy with the offense. But make
- 3:53Speaker 2: no mistake about it. AJ Brown is and was a
- 3:58Speaker 2: Kevin Patullo support. He was vocal in that, so was
- 4:02Speaker 2: Saquon Barkley, so was a lot of the offensive linemen.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So I look at it more through the lens of
- 4:09Speaker 2: Aja being frustrated with the offensive and efficiencies, and I again,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I go back to so many different layers factoring into
- 4:16Speaker 2: that Patulo's no longer here. But you know, I keep
- 4:22Speaker 2: reverting back to twenty twenty four where we were expecting
- 4:24Speaker 2: to see so much change under Kellen Moore. You saw
- 4:28Speaker 2: it a little bit and then they had to scale
- 4:30Speaker 2: it back. And that's something I keep reiterating because we're
- 4:33Speaker 2: expecting to see pretty considerable changes across the board on
- 4:37Speaker 2: the offense in terms of how it functions, and it's
- 4:41Speaker 2: expected to be modernized. That all sounds good and well
- 4:44Speaker 2: in February, but come training camp or early in the
- 4:49Speaker 2: regular season, if it's not going well, any good coach
- 4:52Speaker 2: is going to play the strengths of their players and
- 4:55Speaker 2: find ways to accentuate that that right there, I mean
- 4:59Speaker 2: that it's going to cause frustrations for AJ Brown. You
- 5:02Speaker 2: don't want those frustrations boiling over into another season. It
- 5:07Speaker 2: presents awkwardness tension that you just don't need. And for
- 5:11Speaker 2: as talented as he is, he wants to be among
- 5:13Speaker 2: the greats. He wants to be a Hall of Fame
- 5:15Speaker 2: caliber player, and for a while there he was in
- 5:20Speaker 2: twenty two and twenty three. He's on a Hall of
- 5:22Speaker 2: Fame trajectory. But knowing that the volume is going to
- 5:26Speaker 2: be sporadic in this offense with this quarterback, if you're
- 5:31Speaker 2: AJ Brown, You're going to have to make a decision.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Do you want to leave it all cost Do you
- 5:36Speaker 2: want to go somewhere else? Do you think the grass
- 5:38Speaker 2: is greener somewhere else? But what I will say is this,
- 5:43Speaker 2: AJ Brown is a good positive locker room influence. He's
- 5:47Speaker 2: beloved by teammates, He's loved inside that building. You'd be
- 5:52Speaker 2: hard pressed to find someone who would say anything negative
- 5:54Speaker 2: about AJ Brown.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Not going to happen.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So for all of the outside perception, trust me, he
- 6:01Speaker 2: is valued and beloved inside that building.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So keep that in.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Mind when you maybe form or your opinion of AJ
- 6:10Speaker 2: Brown maybe shifts a little bit. He's a great guy,
- 6:13Speaker 2: and everybody is driven by something different. Everyone is fueled
- 6:19Speaker 2: by different types of motivations and it's not a one
- 6:23Speaker 2: size fits all thing. And I think what I've learned
- 6:25Speaker 2: covering aj is that he's very misunderstood in this city.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And it's not that he's not appreciated, because I think
- 6:32Speaker 2: the fan base is very well aware of his contributions
- 6:35Speaker 2: and what this team would be without AJ Brown. Just
- 6:38Speaker 2: look at the twenty twenty one season when there was
- 6:41Speaker 2: Jalen Rager, Greg Ward, jj Arthega Whiteside I think was
- 6:45Speaker 2: still around at that point. They're not too far removed
- 6:49Speaker 2: from those years, those lean years, and I think it
- 6:52Speaker 2: gives you a new found appreciation for AJ Brown. Best
- 6:56Speaker 2: case scenario, they're obviously able to work something out and
- 6:58Speaker 2: keep him here, but it's going to be a.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Huge talking point.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I hope to learn more about this next week when
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm in Indianapolis, but.
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's where it stands right now.
- 7:10Speaker 2: With the Eagles and their top wide receiver, Davonte Smith,
- 7:14Speaker 2: on the other hand, is probably one of the more
- 7:16Speaker 2: underappreciated wide receivers in the NFL. I think he could
- 7:20Speaker 2: be a number one. You saw the year where he
- 7:22Speaker 2: had to be a number one in twenty twenty one,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and he was going up there and taking the football
- 7:27Speaker 2: away from Patrick Certain against the Denver Broncos coming down
- 7:31Speaker 2: with that contested catch. He doesn't have the prototypical size
- 7:35Speaker 2: that would lead one to suggest that he could be
- 7:37Speaker 2: that number one, But I think he is positioned right
- 7:40Speaker 2: now to benefit from this offense, perhaps more than anyone,
- 7:45Speaker 2: because I think you're going to see them take advantage
- 7:47Speaker 2: of his three level of ability, but more importantly the
- 7:52Speaker 2: short to intermediate routes and things like that lining him
- 7:56Speaker 2: up around formations. Devonte Smith should thrive in theory in
- 8:01Speaker 2: this Seawan Manney in offense, but he doesn't talk nearly
- 8:04Speaker 2: as much. He's quiet, but he was frustrated as well
- 8:07Speaker 2: with the offense. He just conveys it differently.
- 8:10Speaker 1: There weren't. I mean, trust me, if you're a competitor
- 8:13Speaker 1: and you.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Know the amount of you know the ability that that
- 8:16Speaker 2: offense can really perform to, and they weren't.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I mean it's not just aj Brown who wasn't happy
- 8:23Speaker 1: with it.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Davante had seventy seven catches just over a thousand yards
- 8:27Speaker 2: four touchdowns, and I do believe that he is sort
- 8:31Speaker 2: of underutilized in this offense, and there's so much more
- 8:35Speaker 2: damage he could do if you put him in position
- 8:37Speaker 2: to run after the catch. Probably one of the better
- 8:40Speaker 2: route runners in the NFL. I've watched Davante quite a
- 8:44Speaker 2: bit over the years and training camp and of course
- 8:46Speaker 2: in the regular season, and it's like poetry in motion
- 8:49Speaker 2: watching him run routes, and I think his best football
- 8:53Speaker 2: is still ahead of him. He gets overshadowed by Aj.
- 8:56Speaker 2: They compliment each other quite well, and him being the
- 8:59Speaker 2: slim reaper who as tough as they come, by the way,
- 9:04Speaker 2: tougher than his build would would lead you to believe.
- 9:07Speaker 2: He takes a lot of big time hits, gets back
- 9:09Speaker 2: up and keeps on ticking. And then you have AJ
- 9:13Speaker 2: who's the prototypical alpha wide receiver Chisel.
- 9:19Speaker 1: He he's going to bully corners.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And then you have Davante, who can win with speed
- 9:24Speaker 2: and finesse and route running prowess and he has really
- 9:27Speaker 2: strong hands. They compliment each other well, and I think
- 9:29Speaker 2: if you're the Eagles, you want to find a way
- 9:32Speaker 2: to keep that duo intact for at least one more season,
- 9:37Speaker 2: because I think that they could really do some damage
- 9:39Speaker 2: here in.
- 9:40Speaker 1: This offense if they open things up.
- 9:43Speaker 3: You can call me neurotic, but I was a little
- 9:45Speaker 3: nervous when the revolution started for people sending money electronically,

- 12:08Speaker 2: Adding Josh Grizzard, the pass game cordator who comes over
- 12:11Speaker 2: from Tampa Bay, who was their offensive cordator last.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Year, is going to do.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Is going to be able to implement certain concepts in
- 12:20Speaker 2: terms of route running that should create more spacing and
- 12:24Speaker 2: I think you're going to see a little bit more.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I know you're going to see more diversity and things
- 12:29Speaker 2: like that. So with those two wide receivers in the fold,
- 12:34Speaker 2: the future of the Eagles passing game looks quite bright.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Then you have Johan Dotson, who, believe it or not,
- 12:41Speaker 2: all we had in the combined seasons. He was here
- 12:44Speaker 2: for two years, but thirty seven catches for four hundred
- 12:50Speaker 2: and seventy eight yards and one touchdown in the regular season,
- 12:53Speaker 2: that's all we had. If you combine his two years
- 12:55Speaker 2: here in Philadelphia. Now he had some big moments in
- 12:58Speaker 2: the postseason, the twenty seven yard down the sideline in
- 13:00Speaker 2: the Super Bowl that his focus on ball security. He
- 13:05Speaker 2: had Nick Sirianni in his ear pretty much, don't stretch
- 13:08Speaker 2: the ball over the pylon, don't run the risk of
- 13:12Speaker 2: losing the football.
- 13:13Speaker 1: That probably cost him a Super Bowl touchdown. I think
- 13:16Speaker 1: he admitted as much.
- 13:17Speaker 2: He also had the first touchdown on the Eagles postseason
- 13:19Speaker 2: after orn Burk's forces the fumble on the opening kickoff
- 13:23Speaker 2: against the Packers in that wildcard game. Johan Dotson catches
- 13:26Speaker 2: a touchdown, and there's been moments here and there where
- 13:30Speaker 2: he's made some highlight reel worthy catches. I think in
- 13:33Speaker 2: the Jacksonville Jaguars game in twenty twenty four where Nikobe
- 13:38Speaker 2: Dean intercepted the ball to end the game and seal
- 13:41Speaker 2: it was another example, but just not a volume guy,
- 13:45Speaker 2: and certainly not in an offense that already struggles getting
- 13:48Speaker 2: the football to aj Brown, Devonte Smith and Dallas Goddard,
- 13:51Speaker 2: whom the passing game runs through. All three of those players,
- 13:55Speaker 2: then you have Saquon Barkley. So Johan Dotson's a little
- 13:58Speaker 2: bit further down the list, and he never quite was
- 14:02Speaker 2: able to put his stamp on a defined role, which
- 14:06Speaker 2: is something that when he was traded for ahead of
- 14:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, about a week before the Eagles left
- 14:12Speaker 2: for Brazil, I was under the impression that that was
- 14:14Speaker 2: going to be a positive because Kellen Moore has been
- 14:17Speaker 2: known historically to utilize that third wide receiver as he
- 14:22Speaker 2: did at previous stops, and that just never manifested. But
- 14:25Speaker 2: I will say that Johan Dotson had a tremendous training
- 14:27Speaker 2: camp last year. He was the go to guy Johan
- 14:30Speaker 2: Dotson and Dallas Goddard. I think he can play and
- 14:33Speaker 2: be a number two for another team, not here in Philadelphia.
- 14:37Speaker 2: He did get bumped off his routes a little bit
- 14:39Speaker 2: more than he'd like to see. Doesn't play with great physicality,
- 14:42Speaker 2: but when the ball is in the air, he has
- 14:44Speaker 2: really good body control and strong hands to bring it down.
- 14:47Speaker 2: But I think talking to him at locker clean out
- 14:50Speaker 2: kind of gave me all the answers that I needed.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He was grateful for his time here, talked about having
- 14:57Speaker 2: to really tap into the patient aspect of his demeanor,
- 15:03Speaker 2: and he said, I've always had patients, but I had
- 15:05Speaker 2: to really learn how to be patient here in Philadelphia,
- 15:08Speaker 2: talked about learning from aj and Davante and wide receivers
- 15:11Speaker 2: coach Aaron Moorehead and that he came into Philadelphia thinking
- 15:16Speaker 2: he knew everything, but he learned how to practice. He
- 15:19Speaker 2: learned how to conduct himself in a different manner than
- 15:22Speaker 2: he had in his previous stop with the Washington Commanders.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And he also said.
- 15:26Speaker 2: That I believe that I can help a team win
- 15:28Speaker 2: football games, and my best football is in front of me,
- 15:31Speaker 2: which I agree with. It's not going to be here
- 15:33Speaker 2: in Philadelphia, And so that kind of closes the book
- 15:37Speaker 2: on the Jahan Dotson conversation here.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I mean, well, I'm sure.
- 15:42Speaker 2: We'll whenever he signed somewhere else, I'll talk about it.
- 15:45Speaker 2: But as we're running through the wide receiver room going
- 15:48Speaker 2: into twenty twenty six, that's the update on him. Johnny
- 15:52Speaker 2: Wilson will be for all intents and purposes coming back.
- 15:57Speaker 2: We'll see how he returns from the knee ankle in
- 16:00Speaker 2: injury that he sustained in training camp that ended his
- 16:03Speaker 2: season prematurely. Brett Toth I remember rolled up on him
- 16:06Speaker 2: during a team period and they lost a big bodied
- 16:10Speaker 2: wide receiver who helped immensely in the running game, did
- 16:12Speaker 2: a lot of the dirty work to free up teammates,
- 16:15Speaker 2: and he was having a solid training camp. It looked
- 16:18Speaker 2: like he was making notable improvements from the previous season.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And I think it was an understated absence for the
- 16:25Speaker 2: Eagles to not have Johnny Wilson, who provided value, as
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mentioned, doing some of those things that aren't going
- 16:31Speaker 2: to show up on the box score. So Holby added
- 16:35Speaker 2: to the mix this year. I imagine he's going to
- 16:37Speaker 2: have still have to battle to make the team. Then
- 16:40Speaker 2: you have Darius Cooper. Darius Cooper is a great story
- 16:43Speaker 2: made the team as an undrafted free agent out of
- 16:45Speaker 2: Tarlatan State, and I think Aaron Moorehead, for all of
- 16:49Speaker 2: the criticism that he seems to get from the fan base,
- 16:52Speaker 2: that's somebody that should get credit for developing under Aaron
- 16:57Speaker 2: Moorehead's tutelage. Cooper was a He was a standout obviously
- 17:02Speaker 2: a Tarlatan State, but he had to learn to establish
- 17:06Speaker 2: a different type of role knowing that you have so
- 17:08Speaker 2: many playmakers here. That's not going to be your ticket
- 17:11Speaker 2: to the roster. It's going to be on special teams.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It's going to be returning kicks and doing dirty work
- 17:17Speaker 2: as a blocker, which.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Is really where he found his footing.
- 17:21Speaker 2: He was actually blocking the perimeter on the push plays,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and I thought later in the season his snapshare increased
- 17:29Speaker 2: while he didn't see a ton of targets. I think
- 17:30Speaker 2: he caught nine balls last season. He really made his
- 17:34Speaker 2: presence fout as a blocker, strong, compactly built, kind of
- 17:39Speaker 2: built similar to aj Brown. I would say this year,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I think he's gonna have more of a role in
- 17:45Speaker 2: the passing game. But to what extent we thought we
- 17:47Speaker 2: were gonna see Johan Dotson catch a plethora of footballs,
- 17:51Speaker 2: certainly after the training camp that we saw, and by
- 17:53Speaker 2: a plethora, it's all in context. He caught just eighteen
- 17:58Speaker 2: or whatever it was his first year. I thought any
- 18:01Speaker 2: twenty eight to thirty would have been considered a breakout
- 18:05Speaker 2: year or having a more prominent role in the offense.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But Darius Cooper right now will be the three. I
- 18:13Speaker 2: imagine the Eagles are going to draft the receiver, which
- 18:16Speaker 2: I'll do a whole podcast on that.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Whether or not they draft one early.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I think they still should to kind of fulfill the
- 18:22Speaker 2: Johann Dotson role and eventually overtake a starting role.
- 18:27Speaker 1: But Darius Cooper.
- 18:29Speaker 2: He has a decent footing to make the team. Once again,
- 18:33Speaker 2: he's certainly not a shoe and he has to show up.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He has to He has to show that he made
- 18:37Speaker 2: strides and provide value in different ways. But I think
- 18:41Speaker 2: that he has proven enough at this point to give
- 18:44Speaker 2: you confidence moving forward that he can at least be
- 18:47Speaker 2: a number four receiver for this football team. Britain Covey
- 18:52Speaker 2: is still around. Britain Covey, if you remember, signed with
- 18:57Speaker 2: the Rams in the twenty twenty four offseason in after
- 19:01Speaker 2: winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He was injured for the Super.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Bowl, couldn't play, had a lot of nerve, had nerve
- 19:07Speaker 2: issues that stemmed from his shoulder, and he couldn't grip
- 19:12Speaker 2: a football. He didn't have a lot of strength in
- 19:15Speaker 2: his and his arm at all, and so that that's
- 19:18Speaker 2: sidelining for the remainder of the season. Signs with the Rams.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Felt like himself around the spring, he said, and he
- 19:26Speaker 2: believed that up until the final moment, that he was
- 19:28Speaker 2: going to make the team as a depth wide receiver
- 19:31Speaker 2: as a return specialist. It didn't happen, and he said
- 19:35Speaker 2: that he had options. But if everything being were being equal.
- 19:39Speaker 2: He wanted to return to Philadelphia. He loves Philadelphia. He
- 19:42Speaker 2: signed their practice squad.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,

- 21:52Speaker 3: There's no safe like simply safe.
- 21:55Speaker 2: It took shockingly, a shocking amount of time for him
- 21:59Speaker 2: to be able to get to the active roster given
- 22:02Speaker 2: the Eagles struggles there at returner, whether it was Johan
- 22:04Speaker 2: Dotson who really just fair caught it or Xavier Gibson
- 22:09Speaker 2: who had a couple gaffes. Then eventually they moved on
- 22:14Speaker 2: from him and then it was Britain Covey's turn. But
- 22:16Speaker 2: I thought he did a nice job settling it down,
- 22:18Speaker 2: stabilizing the return role. I do think that he has
- 22:21Speaker 2: something to offer as a receiver, if nothing else, a
- 22:25Speaker 2: manufactured touch player which the Eagles don't have.
- 22:28Speaker 1: He'll have to battle to make the roster.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Because there's a lot of wide receivers in this draft
- 22:32Speaker 2: class who double as return specialists, so that could add
- 22:36Speaker 2: some more competition there. But Britain Covey is such.
- 22:40Speaker 1: A good guy.
- 22:41Speaker 2: It's easy to see why he's beloved by teammates. He's
- 22:45Speaker 2: one of the more popular guys there, easy to talk to,
- 22:48Speaker 2: always in a good mood, works really hard, takes a
- 22:52Speaker 2: lot of hits and keeps getting up, and he has
- 22:55Speaker 2: provided some juice and stability to the punt return game.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But he will have to battle for a roster spot
- 23:03Speaker 2: as well. You have Ques Watkins who signed a reserve
- 23:06Speaker 2: futures deal.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He's going to be backed for training camp.
- 23:10Speaker 2: It's interesting because when you think back to twenty twenty two,
- 23:14Speaker 2: he was getting snaps in the Super Bowl and he
- 23:18Speaker 2: then he goes to the Steelers and his career never
- 23:21Speaker 2: quite never quite caught on from there. He was never
- 23:27Speaker 2: able to build off of that. And I know that
- 23:29Speaker 2: his name here has been toxic in the city of Philadelphia,
- 23:33Speaker 2: which I don't think is fair by any means. And
- 23:35Speaker 2: I do think he's obviously a long shot to make
- 23:38Speaker 2: the team, but you're getting a player who's going to
- 23:40Speaker 2: give you quality reps in practice. He's played in a
- 23:43Speaker 2: number of games and gives you some experience there. So
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in camp.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But no, I don't factor him into the twenty twenty
- 23:52Speaker 2: sixth equation at all as we sit here on February
- 23:55Speaker 2: twenty second. They also have Danny Gray and those who
- 23:58Speaker 2: will follow with my Draft cuver Bridge. You can grab
- 24:01Speaker 2: the interview back in twenty twenty two or I interviewed
- 24:04Speaker 2: Danny for the Draft Dreams podcast when he was coming
- 24:07Speaker 2: out of the draft out of SMU gets drafted by.
- 24:10Speaker 1: The forty nine ers in the third round. Struggle with injuries.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Is on the Eagles practice squad last year, got hurt
- 24:16Speaker 2: in training camp. When he last summer, I thought he
- 24:19Speaker 2: was going to make a strong push for the for
- 24:21Speaker 2: the roster. He's someone who he talked to starters, whether
- 24:25Speaker 2: it's Cooper dejen or Quinnon Mitchell, and they laud Danny
- 24:29Speaker 2: Gray for his ability to just shape free, get win deep,
- 24:36Speaker 2: come up with some contested catches.
- 24:38Speaker 1: He's just a.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Tough guy to cover and he really made his mark
- 24:42Speaker 2: on the practice field, which I would imagine open the
- 24:45Speaker 2: eyes of the coaching staff.
- 24:47Speaker 1: They he hurt him. He got hurt in training camp.
- 24:50Speaker 1: He was waived.
- 24:52Speaker 2: He was out of football for a little bit while
- 24:53Speaker 2: he recovered from I think it was a thumb or
- 24:57Speaker 2: a finger.
- 24:58Speaker 1: He got a procedure on it.
- 24:59Speaker 2: When he was good to come back, the Eagles brought
- 25:01Speaker 2: him back on the practice squad.
- 25:03Speaker 1: He finished the season there.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Look, I think he's going to be someone that will
- 25:07Speaker 2: open some eyes if he can stay healthy. With his
- 25:10Speaker 2: speed and just his ability to separate. He's a hungry guy.
- 25:15Speaker 2: He's very confident and I think that could be a
- 25:18Speaker 2: dark horse, one in a very early dark horse, without
- 25:21Speaker 2: knowing what the Eagles do in free agency, the draft
- 25:24Speaker 2: or undrafted free agency.
- 25:26Speaker 1: But that's kind of the.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Synopsis there of the Eagles wide receivers going into twenty
- 25:31Speaker 2: twenty six. And we'll take a look at the offensive
- 25:34Speaker 2: line the next time I talk to you all, But
- 25:36Speaker 2: for now, that's gonna do it for this edition of
- 25:39Speaker 2: the Czech Odaily. I'm Andrew Decheco and I'll catch you
- 25:42Speaker 2: all in the next one.
