Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your own presence is presence enough. I already had too
- 0:33Speaker 1: much stuff, So how do you dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Bridger Wineger, Happy holidays.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's the holiday episode, it's the big holiday episode. What's
- 1:01Speaker 2: going on? Well, I think we should probably just address
- 1:03Speaker 2: what's happening up top. If you're listening, you aren't aware
- 1:07Speaker 2: of what I'm currently wearing. This was a network call.
- 1:12Speaker 2: This was what I'm currently wearing. The network kind of said,
- 1:16Speaker 2: if you don't wear it, the podcast will be canceled,
- 1:20Speaker 2: the masters will be destroyed. But if you're listening, what
- 1:24Speaker 2: I would describe what I'm wearing. People are obviously watching
- 1:27Speaker 2: this on YouTube. They already know the cat's out of
- 1:29Speaker 2: the bag. I mean kind of a tiny tim costume
- 1:32Speaker 2: wearing kind of a mid thigh skirt.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Well, it's more of a dress.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Made out of what I assume is a flammable velvet,
- 1:42Speaker 2: the white fringe and a little bit of itchy tool underneath.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Of course, got these gorgeous gloves on and the network, Yes,
- 1:50Speaker 2: you know, they said put it on or the show goes.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I said, it's the holiday. I'll make the threats. I said,
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'll walk if we don't get a snow machine. Can
- 1:58Speaker 2: we get the snow going? Okay, so that's enough snow
- 2:05Speaker 2: for now. It's the holidays. I believe this is our
- 2:08Speaker 2: second holiday special. We did one years ago, maybe twenty
- 2:11Speaker 2: twenty one. Is that right, Alice?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Alice, what are you wearing?
- 2:15Speaker 2: What is that on your head?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Just trying to be festive?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Take that off? It looks ridiculous. Alice is trying to
- 2:20Speaker 2: pull focus. No, this is our second holiday episode. We
- 2:25Speaker 2: would have done other years, but I was in jail,
- 2:27Speaker 2: so we're trying to get back into the spirit of things.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It's a busy season, The holidays are hectic. I'm trying
- 2:34Speaker 2: to get everybody to refocus on what's really important. Me.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Of course, there's the one big one for me. I
- 2:41Speaker 2: grew up with older Driver Safety Awareness Week. That's kind
- 2:47Speaker 2: of my big holiday. That, of course, takes place in
- 2:50Speaker 2: the beginning of December. I think it's December fifth to
- 2:54Speaker 2: how long is a week? But if you missed it,
- 2:56Speaker 2: you probably should just take a look at yourself, ask yourself,
- 3:01Speaker 2: what sort of Christian am I? I feel like it's
- 3:04Speaker 2: almost everything. Could we there's one more thing I'd like
- 3:06Speaker 2: to talk about. Could we get some more snow before me?
- 3:08Speaker 2: This is probably the most holiday oriented thing I'd like
- 3:11Speaker 2: to talk about. Snow. Please. Okay, if you're just listening,
- 3:18Speaker 2: you're just getting the audio. But there's some gorgeous snow falling,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and it puts me in the mood to talk about.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Last night I watched an episode of Tabitha Takeover. Now
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm back in my Tabitha bag. I of course had
- 3:29Speaker 2: watch all of tabitha Salon Takeover. Tabitha does salon takeover.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's just Australian woman that I kind of got hooked
- 3:36Speaker 2: on last year and I powered through her salon takeovers.
- 3:40Speaker 2: She of course has the sequel, Tabitha's Takeover. Last night
- 3:44Speaker 2: I watched an episode, and Tabitha's Takeover is a little different.
- 3:47Speaker 2: They do more than salons, They do all sorts of
- 3:50Speaker 2: small businesses. So last night's Tabitha's Takeover was a salon
- 3:54Speaker 2: and she was taking over a salon in I think
- 3:58Speaker 2: it was Douglasville, Georgia. And it was I believe it
- 4:02Speaker 2: was called Pat's Hair Shop. All kinds of things going
- 4:05Speaker 2: wrong for Pat. Half of her staff had walked. The
- 4:08Speaker 2: store was terrible. She had all sorts of garbage furniture,
- 4:12Speaker 2: kind of a troubled employee destroyed someone's dye job. Tabitha
- 4:17Speaker 2: actually had to step in and strip some of the
- 4:19Speaker 2: hair from color from her hair. But ultimately I think
- 4:22Speaker 2: it was Tabitha was able to solve all of their problems.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I haven't looked into Pat's Hair Shop shoppe to see
- 4:31Speaker 2: if it's still in business. Elis is it still in business?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Any idea? Let's look into Pat's Hair Shop in Douglasville, Georgia.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It's the holidays. We should check in with our loved ones.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yelper's report this location has closed.
- 4:47Speaker 2: We're sorry to hear that about Pat's Hair Shop. Christmas
- 4:51Speaker 2: is right around the corner. That's one of the holidays.
- 4:54Speaker 2: If you need a last minute gift, I always say
- 4:57Speaker 2: a Pfcheng's E gift card. I assume you can get
- 5:01Speaker 2: those between five dollars and probably thousands of dollars. You
- 5:04Speaker 2: just want to think about the recipient's general appetite for
- 5:08Speaker 2: you know, chain Chinese food. I think that is all
- 5:11Speaker 2: of our business that we've needed to cover. Again, our
- 5:16Speaker 2: older drivers, Let's be aware of their safety, especially during
- 5:20Speaker 2: the holidays, the roads are slippery. I think we should
- 5:22Speaker 2: bring our guests. And it's a holiday special, so I said,
- 5:24Speaker 2: we've got to have a couple old favorites, a couple
- 5:28Speaker 2: real holiday sweethearts. So let's let's demand some of my
- 5:31Speaker 2: favorites come in. So we've got Maria Thayer and ten Tran,
- 5:35Speaker 2: two of my all time favorites. Could we bring them in?
- 5:38Speaker 4: Oh, happy holidays, Happy, come on in, come on in.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Thank you, Oh, thank.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You so much. I was just telling a listener this
- 5:55Speaker 2: was a network call. They said the show would be
- 5:58Speaker 2: canceled if I didn't wear this.
- 6:00Speaker 3: What was your What was your pitch?
- 6:02Speaker 2: I had a very conservative I'm not comfortable with my
- 6:04Speaker 2: body on camera, and I told them that several times
- 6:07Speaker 2: in writing.
- 6:09Speaker 3: You're sitting like you're very comfortable with your body.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Well, I had to get comfortable with it quickly, because
- 6:15Speaker 2: you know, I'm a professional.
- 6:17Speaker 5: With those legs, you should be comfortable with your body,
- 6:19Speaker 5: and I'm glad to see them.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Those are like ballerina legs.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Cravy again, I have a gun trained on.
- 6:32Speaker 3: How are you too good?
- 6:35Speaker 2: You've got to put your gifts somewhere?
- 6:36Speaker 3: Sorry, this is the show.
- 6:38Speaker 2: The format of this show right now is so uncomfortable
- 6:41Speaker 2: for the guests because they have no idea where.
- 6:42Speaker 3: To put that, and there's so many I know, we should,
- 6:45Speaker 3: we should. These are not real, I mean, not here
- 6:50Speaker 3: we go, let's put those.
- 6:51Speaker 2: You two are so nice to bring things, and the
- 6:53Speaker 2: staff was so cruel tops. I'm fighting for my life
- 6:59Speaker 2: there for my life.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Do you too care about the holidays? I like the holidays? Okay,
- 7:07Speaker 3: I like the holidays. I like spending time. It stresses
- 7:09Speaker 3: me out, though, I will say right, just like holiday
- 7:12Speaker 3: planning logistics with my family. Maria, I just called in
- 7:20Speaker 3: a hurry, called.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Uh psychiatrist to get on anti anxiety medication yesterday.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Okay, we're okay for you. This is a little intense.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I feel a little intensely about everything.
- 7:35Speaker 5: I need to protect my friends and family from my
- 7:40Speaker 5: All I want to do is to a fight with
- 7:42Speaker 5: someone else so I can.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Fight with either one of you. It's because it hasn't
- 7:45Speaker 3: kicked yet.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Well, this is the show for fighting.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I have already brought again, Yeah, is very tough. Are
- 7:57Speaker 3: you both traveling? I'm my parents live like two hours
- 8:02Speaker 3: south of here, so like, technically your parents, I'm doctoring
- 8:05Speaker 3: my parents. That's where they live. My sister, actually older sister,
- 8:11Speaker 3: she kept telling me that she was going to come,
- 8:13Speaker 3: and I was like, okay, one of the dates, one
- 8:14Speaker 3: of the dates, and she texted me yesterday to be like,
- 8:16Speaker 3: we're coming to these dates, but we don't know if
- 8:18Speaker 3: we're going to tell mom and dad because we want
- 8:19Speaker 3: to surprise them. And I'm like, stop, I don't know
- 8:23Speaker 3: if that's you can't surprise someone at their house for
- 8:26Speaker 3: a whole week. That's a lot with a husband and
- 8:29Speaker 3: two kids.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You can't surprise someone at their house for more than
- 8:32Speaker 2: half an hour?
- 8:33Speaker 3: No, I agree, completely agree.
- 8:35Speaker 2: That's like a stop in. Oh I was in the neighborhood.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Yes, Like yeah, I'm trying to figure out a reason
- 8:40Speaker 5: to do that, Like why who was the perfect person
- 8:44Speaker 5: to surprise for an entire entire week?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Hampton in they're trying to call Hampton now they're just
- 8:52Speaker 2: calling it Hampton, trying to I'm not letting them get away.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Are they dropping the Inn because they feel like it
- 8:58Speaker 3: doesn't feel.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Classic yeah, I think like this is like the elevated Oh.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Have Hampton in part in your name?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yes, like except that, Yeah, we all know what we
- 9:10Speaker 2: love it.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Yes, they paid so much money for someone to tell
- 9:13Speaker 3: them to drop in, right, and.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Here comes here comes Bridger saying, okay, so your sister,
- 9:22Speaker 2: did you come to a conclusion she I.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Think she's going to surprise my parents for god, well,
- 9:26Speaker 3: they're big listeners to the show.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I know.
- 9:28Speaker 3: That's why I'm telling because I want to get the
- 9:30Speaker 3: word mom, dad, please be ready. They're coming the whole family,
- 9:34Speaker 3: So get enough food for I don't know eight people.
- 9:38Speaker 3: That's such a huge, such a huge surprise. It doesn't
- 9:41Speaker 3: it doesn't make any sense at all good grief.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Is there a way that you can somehow like softly
- 9:46Speaker 5: sort of prepare your family without without ruining it for
- 9:50Speaker 5: your sister and her husband and.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Their children big surprise. I think it would absolutely destroy
- 9:56Speaker 3: the family dynamic if I ruined well surprise for my
- 10:00Speaker 3: older sister.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Could you do could you do the grocery shopping in advance?
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yes, that kind of thing. Okay, Now now you're I'm
- 10:08Speaker 3: taking on the emotional labor of it. And my therapist
- 10:11Speaker 3: said not to do that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Oh, I take on all.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Okay, that's why.
- 10:16Speaker 5: I have to get on anti anxiety.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Okay, wait, do you have siblings three? Where do you
- 10:21Speaker 3: fall in the birth order?
- 10:22Speaker 2: I'm uh, it's weird with four. I'm middle, but the
- 10:25Speaker 2: middle middle.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I'm middle as well.
- 10:27Speaker 2: How many do you have?
- 10:28Speaker 3: Four? Four? That's why we're that's why we Now.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Are you lower upper middle? I'm I'm third.
- 10:36Speaker 3: What do you consider that lower middle?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Okay, then I lower middle.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I'm lower middle. Yes, I say Hampton.
- 10:42Speaker 2: In Hampton, And you have one siblings.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I have one sibling who's younger, and I'm the oldest.
- 10:50Speaker 5: But I feel like the oldest has to do everything emotional,
- 10:54Speaker 5: glue planning, sucking up ship.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I just feel like they.
- 11:01Speaker 5: I feel like my brother just like flounces around and
- 11:04Speaker 5: just has a jolly old time.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And you're going to Montana.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I'm not going to Montana.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Christmas used to be our big holiday. I never missed
- 11:14Speaker 5: one ever, no matter what happened. But after my brother
- 11:20Speaker 5: had kids, then something rearranged, and now Thanksgiving is our
- 11:26Speaker 5: big holiday and Christmas.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Can you know you kind of just wow? Sorry, I
- 11:32Speaker 3: don't mean that, like for real.
- 11:34Speaker 5: Obviously, Christmas is no, you're on record now, Christmas is
- 11:40Speaker 5: the one true holiday.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's they.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I just basically a gridge in a Christmas dress. Why
- 11:53Speaker 3: not good? But is it because they want to be
- 12:00Speaker 3: their own Christmas with their kid? It's because the kids.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Now, the kids are the most important thing about the holidays.
- 12:06Speaker 3: It's just fine.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Love.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I mean, I love my nieces y.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Yeah we used to get a lot of attention, but
- 12:11Speaker 5: now for that three year old. But but yeah, so
- 12:16Speaker 5: we just so the the.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Mother in law gets Christmas. I don't know how this was.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I was not I was not consulted.
- 12:25Speaker 5: But so that's what happens and Christmas and Christmas is
- 12:29Speaker 5: and my family is.
- 12:30Speaker 3: More loosey goosey, and.
- 12:33Speaker 5: My brother's my brother's married in family is more like
- 12:36Speaker 5: straight lace and so how we plan is very different
- 12:40Speaker 5: than how they plan.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And I think our planning style, which is just like.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Maybe we'll be there, I don't know, I would drive
- 12:48Speaker 5: everyone crazy. It's so we're like we're not like it's
- 12:51Speaker 5: not we're not like we're not invited, but it's like
- 12:53Speaker 5: it's just you're not invited.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And you can't you ultimately can't count on each other
- 12:57Speaker 2: for anything.
- 12:58Speaker 5: So that's important, which is not which is anti the
- 13:01Speaker 5: Christmas spirit?
- 13:03Speaker 2: I think having children is a real power move, and
- 13:05Speaker 2: especially during the holidays. It's the one I don't want
- 13:07Speaker 2: children at all, but to be able to stay home
- 13:09Speaker 2: for the holidays, you children are an anchor. Then everyone
- 13:12Speaker 2: has to come to you. It's so powerful.
- 13:15Speaker 3: It's so powerful. Sister, when she had kids, she was like,
- 13:18Speaker 3: they will wake up at their home on Christmas. Right,
- 13:23Speaker 3: you can'thing you can do.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Unless you have like an extravagant thing you can do
- 13:29Speaker 2: for them. So it's really they've they've got us all hostage.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I can't say I have no reason not to go
- 13:35Speaker 2: home for the holidays, So what do you? Where are
- 13:38Speaker 2: you going to Utah? Which I obviously I have a
- 13:41Speaker 2: good time, but it's never an option for me. It's
- 13:44Speaker 2: not like you come to me.
- 13:45Speaker 3: You always have to go there.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they'd be like, why are we coming? What are
- 13:48Speaker 2: we have to move everything for you? Of course I
- 13:52Speaker 2: have to get on a plane. I have to go
- 13:53Speaker 2: through Burbank. That's a smiled challenge for me. So I
- 13:57Speaker 2: don't know.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I can't believe even being so close to Burbank, the
- 14:03Speaker 5: studio is so close to Burbank, makes me.
- 14:05Speaker 3: When I was driving here a Suburbank, it makes me.
- 14:07Speaker 3: It gives me such joy.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Like I love Burbank Bank too fantastic. Yeah, it's I can't.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I never. I never.
- 14:15Speaker 5: I never go into Burbank and fly or come into
- 14:17Speaker 5: Burbank without just being great.
- 14:20Speaker 3: No, I love it. I live in a time with Burbank.
- 14:22Speaker 3: There's a lot of other problems, but Burbank Airport exists.
- 14:26Speaker 3: The last time I talked about this, I like a
- 14:30Speaker 3: Burbank little shopping area. I can go to ri I
- 14:32Speaker 3: get some camping chairs and like Ohyd, I can get
- 14:38Speaker 3: everything I need. I can get a hose from Lows
- 14:41Speaker 3: and lovely the hose from Lows, and camping chairs from ARII,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and grab some Panda Express. It's literally a wonderful afternoon. Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I got some climbing shoes from.
- 14:52Speaker 3: ARII are climbing.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Ope, I did for a while. Then I put my
- 14:56Speaker 2: I froze my account. So it's just been kind of
- 14:59Speaker 2: ten dollars a month for me. It's like a charity.
- 15:02Speaker 2: At this point. I need to get back into it.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Are you bouldering, Yeah, it was bouldering for quite a while.
- 15:08Speaker 3: That's why those legs are so attract that's.
- 15:10Speaker 2: What permanent good legs from bolder. No, it was for
- 15:15Speaker 2: quite a while, and then for no, I had no
- 15:19Speaker 2: actual excuse to freeze my account. I just stopped. But
- 15:22Speaker 2: then I just found out that my bank has been
- 15:23Speaker 2: charging me a ninety five dollars a month fee. And
- 15:26Speaker 2: I thought that could have been going towards bouldering. So
- 15:28Speaker 2: I reversed all the fees and now I'll start bouldering.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Wait, why are they why for what?
- 15:32Speaker 2: I'm glad I caught.
- 15:33Speaker 3: It keeping keeping it clean. They do that, you keep
- 15:36Speaker 3: it clean, you know, isn't there a bank fee? That's like,
- 15:38Speaker 3: we're just like, oh, just kind of an organic Yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 3: like we're just checking on your account. Interesting and then
- 15:44Speaker 3: they charge you, yes, but I don't.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Whoh So they say that we're charging you to mop
- 15:49Speaker 2: up your progress. Now this was something. This was something
- 15:52Speaker 2: and I hadn't even noticed. I was just looking at
- 15:54Speaker 2: my account. I was like, oh wait, this is new.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I got them on the phone. They were wonderful to me.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I'm on the side of banks.
- 16:01Speaker 3: This is crazy, but I think banks are bad. No greed.
- 16:07Speaker 5: There are two monopolized and Chase Bank can go the
- 16:11Speaker 5: way of thanks reach out.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I think all banks are good and everyone should celebrate Christmas.
- 16:20Speaker 2: You're launching some sort of no I got them, I
- 16:28Speaker 2: thank god. I think I was saying this to someone recently.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I think that even bank employees are not on the
- 16:33Speaker 2: side of banks at this point. So you call them,
- 16:35Speaker 2: You're like, I don't know where this came from. Please
- 16:37Speaker 2: reverse this for me. They were so easy about.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Because you're nice. Yes, as long as you're nice.
- 16:42Speaker 2: This is something that shocks me with service workers when
- 16:44Speaker 2: they're so like, I can't believe you were nice to me,
- 16:47Speaker 2: or I'm like, what is everyone else doing? What if
- 16:49Speaker 2: if you thank somebody had a drive through their eyes
- 16:53Speaker 2: light up, because I think most people are just like
- 16:55Speaker 2: they don't even hit the brakes on the drive through,
- 16:56Speaker 2: they're just grabbing going through. It's shocking to me. It
- 17:00Speaker 2: is the abuse that must be happening at the drive
- 17:02Speaker 2: through window. I can't imagine.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Have any of you worked like customers? Okay, I worked
- 17:12Speaker 3: at Arby's. Arby I'm so jealous. Oh why why are
- 17:16Speaker 3: you jealous of it?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Because I love Arby's.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Oh, and then I won't talk about it.
- 17:22Speaker 2: What you have to say about Arby's We've got to
- 17:23Speaker 2: get into the insulted chase.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Big Christmas. You're taking down all the big.
- 17:31Speaker 2: The biggest biggies is extremely powerful. It's so powerful outside
- 17:35Speaker 2: of Banks. It's like Banks. Arby's.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot to love about Arby's. The Horsey sauce.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Okay, that's the one thing I don't care about.
- 17:45Speaker 3: The onion pedals.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Onion.
- 17:49Speaker 5: I think back in when I worked there, there was
- 17:51Speaker 5: no onion pedals.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Okay, onion pedal.
- 17:53Speaker 2: This is innovation that sounds like something Arby's would have.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that I got onion pedals. There is
- 17:59Speaker 3: like an onion string. Yeah. Joa shakes. I can get
- 18:02Speaker 3: her to shakes. It's like a chocolate coffee shake. Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 3: They have them all the time. I don't think they're
- 18:07Speaker 3: even seasonal time.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Not in Los Angeles of course, because they've closed down
- 18:12Speaker 2: our final Arbys. That's the last arby within the Los
- 18:16Speaker 2: Angeles area. It's devastating.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Best Arby's. They had the best sign Yes, best time
- 18:21Speaker 3: by far.
- 18:21Speaker 2: They had a listener. If you're not familiar, you've really
- 18:24Speaker 2: lost out on a life event. But it's a giant
- 18:26Speaker 2: cowboy hat and neon. This says Arby's. It's gorgeous. They
- 18:30Speaker 2: should preserve that, or something that should be put on
- 18:32Speaker 2: top of the Netflix.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I'm sure someone has, oh my gosh, after we burn
- 18:39Speaker 3: it down.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yes, make a lot of holiday episodes, they do, and
- 18:46Speaker 2: I feel like we're all gunning for a Christmas episode
- 18:48Speaker 2: or a Christmas movie on Netflix.
- 18:50Speaker 3: They would buy that, they would buy that, and then
- 18:52Speaker 3: anytime they open their movies, it's.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Like Netflix, Well, you know what my dream is. My
- 18:58Speaker 2: escorp is called Mervin's. Are you too familiar with Mervin's?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah? Is it like the discount store.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It was like a discount department store. Up until the
- 19:07Speaker 2: early thousands, that was like mostly I don't know what
- 19:10Speaker 2: their national strategy was because it was mostly West Coast,
- 19:13Speaker 2: and then a couple throughout, probably like very small areas
- 19:17Speaker 2: of New York or whatever, they all closed down. Okay,
- 19:19Speaker 2: And when I started an escort, you have to pick
- 19:20Speaker 2: a name, and I thought, what better name than Mervin's.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And my lawyer looked into and he said, you can
- 19:25Speaker 2: take it. There might be a season desist at some point,
- 19:28Speaker 2: but I was like, well, I'm taking it for now,
- 19:29Speaker 2: and if I ever Hollywood reach out produce the show
- 19:32Speaker 2: it'll we'll have the Mervins logo and cheapen everything.
- 19:36Speaker 3: No matter what I work on, it will be diminished
- 19:39Speaker 3: by So there's not a single store left, no wow.
- 19:44Speaker 2: A lot of remaining buildings, of course, but no stores.
- 19:47Speaker 2: And occasionally, once, probably every two years, I'll get a
- 19:50Speaker 2: piece of mail from like some sort of employment service
- 19:54Speaker 2: or whatever, like demanding that Mervns pay that this employee
- 19:57Speaker 2: or whatever, Like, oh wow, I'm just not that Mervyns.
- 20:02Speaker 2: How am I supposed to let the world. How do
- 20:04Speaker 2: they even find me? I guess they look up.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That owes me money?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Get him, get him boys different Mervyns. So I don't
- 20:13Speaker 2: have the well, I probably have moremurvnt more money than
- 20:16Speaker 2: Mervin's at this point, you.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Definitely did you love Mervin's? Is that why you? Or
- 20:19Speaker 3: did you?
- 20:20Speaker 2: You know?
- 20:20Speaker 3: I have a lot of that you made that made
- 20:23Speaker 3: you feel like you wanted to.
- 20:24Speaker 2: It's given my life a certain texture. There were a
- 20:27Speaker 2: lot of back to school shopping trips there. There are
- 20:29Speaker 2: a lot of memories of kind of wandering through their
- 20:31Speaker 2: very dark department stores.
- 20:33Speaker 3: It like Filine's basement. You what's this?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Oh?
- 20:37Speaker 3: You feel like you would have loved fil we spell Fileing.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I love that f I L E n E right
- 20:46Speaker 3: Fileinge's basement. She's so classy. I just remember Phileine's Basement
- 20:51Speaker 3: was a discount department store. And the the main memory
- 20:54Speaker 3: I have is that the dressing room had no private
- 20:57Speaker 3: so it's just it was like a public shower. It
- 21:00Speaker 3: was like a public shower, just a bunch of women
- 21:03Speaker 3: in one room, all ages, trying on like everything that
- 21:09Speaker 3: they It is just like a barn. It's just like
- 21:12Speaker 3: a barn.
- 21:12Speaker 5: And it was wasn't like there was a place like
- 21:14Speaker 5: it wasn't fin Leeds basement, but it was. There's a
- 21:16Speaker 5: place in New York City that was like that too,
- 21:18Speaker 5: and I can't remember.
- 21:18Speaker 3: What it was now Entry.
- 21:23Speaker 5: And it was it was crowded with you like it
- 21:25Speaker 5: it was not just that it was just a big room,
- 21:28Speaker 5: but it was full of people like with sacks.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, wow, this is a Now Murfins is starting
- 21:36Speaker 2: to sound like top tier.
- 21:38Speaker 5: You man also be something where you'd be trying something on.
- 21:40Speaker 5: You'd be like, I don't like this, and someone would
- 21:41Speaker 5: be like, can I try that?
- 21:44Speaker 2: So it's a sense of like ye, sense of community.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really it was.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Like the dressing rooms in America, everyone each other drawing
- 21:57Speaker 2: on discount clothes, but you two would shop there first.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I don't feel like we had any of those in Utah.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Sounds a little immodest, to be honest, and like with
- 22:05Speaker 2: the prevailing culture, and you talk about like probably don't
- 22:07Speaker 2: want to get dress undressed in front of other people.
- 22:10Speaker 2: We would have Mervin's. We would have dress barn. Okay,
- 22:14Speaker 2: rough name for any closing business dress barn, but Mervin's
- 22:20Speaker 2: r I P. They tried to become Murvins California at
- 22:23Speaker 2: one point. Try to spice it up with the calf.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I want to know if that ever works, Like, is
- 22:28Speaker 5: Hampton Right doing better as Hampton's Hampton Hampton's Hampton Hampton's.
- 22:35Speaker 2: That would have been an interesting move.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Okay, they're trying to confuse people deliberate. Wow, Actually that's genius.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'm going to Hampton and no one would well, no
- 22:47Speaker 3: one would correct us. They mean they would be like,
- 22:49Speaker 3: you mean Hampton's.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, yeah, that's kind of witness protection vibe. Well,
- 22:54Speaker 2: if they switched names every single year, I think that
- 22:57Speaker 2: would probably be a good business plan because people would
- 22:59Speaker 2: be like, what's this new business. It kind of reminds
- 23:01Speaker 2: me of Hampton In, but it seems to be something
- 23:03Speaker 2: better the Ritz, the Rits. Hampton In becomes Hampton Hampton's
- 23:08Speaker 2: and then their fourth choice is the Rits. Wait, so
- 23:13Speaker 2: we were talking. I do need to circle back to
- 23:15Speaker 2: Arby's for just a minute because it seems like there
- 23:17Speaker 2: were some horror stories about oh god, this is I'm
- 23:25Speaker 2: not liking what you've seen.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I feel like I've already thought I have an image
- 23:30Speaker 3: of what the Arby's back kitchen is like.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And I've heard myths, rumors. Yeah, really, I've heard maybe confirmed,
- 23:37Speaker 2: some rumors, some urban legends. What what they What I
- 23:40Speaker 2: heard is that the meat comes as a liquid.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That's yes, yes it doesn't. Well, yes it does. I'm
- 23:46Speaker 3: not a total.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Liquid but I but I don't know how because they
- 23:50Speaker 5: roasted okay and it becomes it solidifies for sure.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Meat.
- 23:56Speaker 5: But my first day there, my and through me a
- 24:03Speaker 5: a meat. It comes in bags through me, and it
- 24:05Speaker 5: was like it was like sort of it was sort
- 24:07Speaker 5: of it was just sort of like this, like listeners,
- 24:11Speaker 5: I'm just as if you had a bag that was made.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Out of jelly and you're you're trying to hold it,
- 24:17Speaker 3: but it's slipping.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Like one of those, like one of those the snakes
- 24:21Speaker 5: that you can't Okay.
- 24:24Speaker 3: That's a little want my meat a little bit, But
- 24:28Speaker 3: you know, I don't know, I don't.
- 24:30Speaker 5: I mean, this was, this was, you know, eighty years
- 24:33Speaker 5: ago when I worked there, so so I think it's
- 24:36Speaker 5: I think it's I think it's probably changed.
- 24:38Speaker 3: But did you ever see it outside of the bag?
- 24:41Speaker 3: I never said.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I'm trying to do the math here. It gets roasted,
- 24:43Speaker 2: At what point does the big question?
- 24:45Speaker 3: And then does it turn into this? It turns into
- 24:48Speaker 3: a thing that is on the slicer. I know, I don't.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I was never allowed near the slicer when I work.
- 24:54Speaker 4: I was.
- 24:56Speaker 3: More of a fry fry and ordering person. But I
- 24:59Speaker 3: was a bad back then.
- 25:01Speaker 5: I would daydream too much, just as a rule, and
- 25:05Speaker 5: so when people would like tell me their order, I
- 25:08Speaker 5: would just like, I could not concentrate on what they
- 25:10Speaker 5: were saying, so I would just sort of daydream about
- 25:13Speaker 5: whatever I was daydreaming.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Probably not long did you work there?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Half an hour.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Was back for her half hour shift. I don't know.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I don't know how long I worked there. Not too long.
- 25:29Speaker 5: I mean that probably the regular rb is amount, which
- 25:32Speaker 5: is probably you know four months, right, that's like that's
- 25:35Speaker 5: a that's a that's after that you get a pension.
- 25:39Speaker 3: It is very but I just wouldn't remember anything that.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Anyone said, and so I would just like sort of
- 25:49Speaker 5: right like ring up what I thought that they might want,
- 25:52Speaker 5: and it was always wrong.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Of course. So then they put me on like the
- 25:56Speaker 3: friar which was named Big Bertha, which is that they
- 25:58Speaker 3: did give it that fun name, and so that I'm
- 26:02Speaker 3: just like in the back with you know, a little
- 26:04Speaker 3: hair nut. Anyway, I just it was not a it was.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Not a I don't want this to become the Rby's episode,
- 26:08Speaker 2: but it's just everything you say it like brings up
- 26:10Speaker 2: more questions for me. Did you ever after learning that
- 26:15Speaker 2: the meat was essentially slime? Did you ever have the
- 26:19Speaker 2: meat again? Of course I was okay, Well, then I
- 26:22Speaker 2: feel a little more comfortable about it.
- 26:23Speaker 3: It was fourteen I would have eaten slime. Then becomes
- 26:27Speaker 3: like DELI, this is.
- 26:30Speaker 5: All a really good there's a really good questions that
- 26:32Speaker 5: I cannot answer because I just I noticed it and
- 26:35Speaker 5: then I don't know, it just didn't.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Is it like when you make paper from wood?
- 26:39Speaker 2: Pulp or creepy crawlers. Do you remember creepy crawlers. It
- 26:43Speaker 2: was like it was kind of like easy bake oven
- 26:46Speaker 2: for boys, and it was like a little thing that
- 26:48Speaker 2: you would dump slime into different bugs and then bake
- 26:51Speaker 2: them and then it would become a delicious roast beef.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Oh you can eat it.
- 26:58Speaker 2: There would be like a little slant like a little
- 27:00Speaker 2: rubber toys. But this is what that's kind of what
- 27:02Speaker 2: I'm picturing with the Arby's slide.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe that's.
- 27:07Speaker 2: But I just don't know how it'd be like solidified.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And I don't know why, like as a company is
- 27:11Speaker 2: like just do that as a factory.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Or also why that's like an that's an extra step.
- 27:16Speaker 3: It's a huge extra. You're gonna you're gonna make the beef.
- 27:19Speaker 3: You're gonna roast it, you're gonna slice it, you're gonna
- 27:21Speaker 3: liquefy it, and then you're gonna re reanimate it to slice.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Right, Maria, Now I feel like you've just come on
- 27:29Speaker 2: to kind of souley the name of Arby's. They have
- 27:32Speaker 2: good chicken fingers there fingers, I was there, okay, or
- 27:39Speaker 2: onion pedals.
- 27:39Speaker 3: It was almost I'm pretty sure. I got onion pedals there.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I love the name onion. It's gorgeous. No, it's really beautiful.
- 27:49Speaker 3: It doesn't fit with the rest of the Arby's menu,
- 27:51Speaker 3: I feel, I mean, if you're going roast beef, sandwich,
- 27:55Speaker 3: chicken ted.
- 28:00Speaker 2: This is look. I love Armies, but the one thing
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'll say is that the menu has been a little
- 28:04Speaker 2: all over the place over the years.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I guess that's why I don't.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, right, I feel like there's I mean, Burger King
- 28:10Speaker 2: is way more offensive. Like they're bigger offenders on this
- 28:13Speaker 2: part where they have a new menu item probably daily. Yeah, Army's,
- 28:17Speaker 2: it's like quarterly they have a new menu outside of
- 28:20Speaker 2: the chicken fingers and roast beef. They're like, suddenly we
- 28:22Speaker 2: have onion pedals, and so I believe they had onion pedals.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I believe you.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Thank you, I see you, and thank God. Seriously.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Also, if you're wrong, you should patent that on Oh
- 28:38Speaker 5: my god, a poem, okay, and.
- 28:42Speaker 3: To write a poem. Other poets are coming for you. Okay,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you're right, this is my time. The industry is crazy
- 28:52Speaker 3: right now, and I really could get into poetry.
- 28:54Speaker 2: We're all getting into pivoting to poets.
- 29:00Speaker 3: So beautiful. Oh, my gosh, I also want to but
- 29:04Speaker 3: I do want to say that I love I do
- 29:05Speaker 3: love the taste of Arby's.
- 29:06Speaker 2: And my god, you're in good company.
- 29:09Speaker 3: It's I I think I ate Arby's. Within the last
- 29:12Speaker 3: five years. I let's say, I think I me Arby's,
- 29:16Speaker 3: and I ate and I loved it.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I've been to I went to the Hollywood Arby's almost
- 29:21Speaker 2: exclusively alone. It was just a sad no, I've been
- 29:32Speaker 2: there in the last five years, I would say, And
- 29:33Speaker 2: I love their Arby's reach out open one in Los Angeles.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Curly fries, I do love curly Curly fries are so good.
- 29:41Speaker 2: They are really And you've been suspiciously quiet about how
- 29:44Speaker 2: much you love Arbies.
- 29:45Speaker 3: I honestly, I don't mean to go back to the
- 29:49Speaker 3: onion medals, but that's kind of all I remember eating
- 29:52Speaker 3: the sand I can't remember the last time I've had Arby's.
- 29:56Speaker 3: I'm really sorry.
- 29:56Speaker 2: That's fine, that's fine, fine that you know it could
- 29:59Speaker 2: be a new chapter.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Did you were ever work in fast food in your
- 30:02Speaker 3: I worked, and I worked at a barbecue restaurant. Oh,
- 30:04Speaker 3: what's the name of Damon's Barbecue. It was Honestly, it
- 30:09Speaker 3: was pretty good barbecue rest It was a pretty good
- 30:11Speaker 3: barbecue restaurant.
- 30:12Speaker 2: And did the meat come solid or liquid?
- 30:15Speaker 3: It came fully solid? Okay, yes, full solid, which is
- 30:20Speaker 3: a really good question. I'm going to be asking restaurants
- 30:22Speaker 3: from now on, every every single one, excuse me, is
- 30:26Speaker 3: the meat liquid? I will be coming. I'm not coming
- 30:33Speaker 3: if it's not liquid? You ask on. I showed up
- 30:41Speaker 3: and it was. It was solid, and.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it was before it was on my plate.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like this. No, I used to work
- 30:48Speaker 3: at I don't I did anyone? Did you have you
- 30:51Speaker 3: heard of Damon's. It's a chain, but it's also it
- 30:54Speaker 3: was like a sports barbecue restaurant. So it had like
- 30:59Speaker 3: four big, big projection screens playing like football, basketball, sports.
- 31:05Speaker 2: You know, this is the only sort of restaurant I'll
- 31:07Speaker 2: go to. I know, you love You'll catch me at
- 31:08Speaker 2: the sports bar sports barbee.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And it's it's hard to work at a sports barbecue
- 31:15Speaker 3: restaurant because like people don't even more so paying less
- 31:17Speaker 3: attention to you as a server. Oh, because they've got
- 31:19Speaker 3: the because they got the big.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Game on yea and they're probably in a bad mood.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And they're in a bad mood, and they're drunk and
- 31:26Speaker 3: and they're kind of mean and like you're bringing their food.
- 31:29Speaker 3: It's almost I almost felt like an early version of
- 31:32Speaker 3: the Alamo, you know how, like, oh, because draft house,
- 31:39Speaker 3: Davy Crockett died or whatever. I was like, WHOA got famous.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Ball and write that down in his history. I remember
- 31:47Speaker 2: the Alamo because that's where Davy Crockett. Let's assume I.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Think so.
- 31:58Speaker 2: You're a historian first, Arby's employees, sick historian.
- 32:02Speaker 3: First, I just want to say that, yes, Davy Crockett
- 32:07Speaker 3: did die in the battle.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Wait, can you look up onion pedals and see while
- 32:15Speaker 2: we're in the research court, WHOA Davy Crockett died at
- 32:18Speaker 2: the Alamo?
- 32:19Speaker 3: I mean, who? I don't even know who that? Who?
- 32:21Speaker 2: Didn't die at the album?
- 32:23Speaker 3: He was the guy with the hat, right, yeah, yes,
- 32:27Speaker 3: interesting coonskin.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Right now, I'm I was at the Alamo in twenty nineteen,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure they sold a lot. I'm such
- 32:34Speaker 2: a fool. How didn't I put that all together?
- 32:36Speaker 3: It's okay, okay, there's a lot of things I don't know.
- 32:39Speaker 2: This is embarrassing, especially during the holidays, not to know
- 32:42Speaker 2: where Davy Crockett died.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Wait, actually, now we all do.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Everyone's learning. This is an education.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Christmas is the time to celebrate Davey Crockett.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yes, and to learn just about Ellis onion pedals.
- 32:54Speaker 3: They were a popular, discontinued side dish featuring lightly battered
- 32:57Speaker 3: petal shaped onion woods. Okay, this is huge for me.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Popular and also removed from the menu around twenty ten.
- 33:08Speaker 3: So maybe they were they poisonous?
- 33:10Speaker 2: Like what.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Popular? And were they recalled?
- 33:14Speaker 2: No? See, this is Arby's big problem. It's like we
- 33:17Speaker 2: hear the word popular and discontinuance like I mean the wheel.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I feel like Arby's is like you know, tagline is
- 33:25Speaker 3: Arby's popular.
- 33:28Speaker 2: But you can't get it anymore and part of the
- 33:31Speaker 2: menu is liquid before you eat it. Okay, so you
- 33:35Speaker 2: were working at Dane's Barbie, it was.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Like the Alamo draft hoops where you had to like
- 33:42Speaker 3: serve like huge people would get full racks of ribs
- 33:46Speaker 3: and I would have to serve full racks, like four
- 33:49Speaker 3: full racks on a huge tray, and I don't have
- 33:52Speaker 3: upper body strength.
- 33:55Speaker 2: It was like this.
- 33:57Speaker 3: That's why we brought you here too, Yeah, because I
- 33:59Speaker 3: need to start thing or whatever. It's clicking is when
- 34:05Speaker 3: you just walk off a cliff and you only get
- 34:07Speaker 3: to do it once, but you don't care about it.
- 34:10Speaker 3: You don't care, you just do it. I'm going.
- 34:18Speaker 6: Is that a threat?
- 34:21Speaker 3: Go by anxiety?
- 34:26Speaker 2: Wait? So you it was hard to lift off?
- 34:28Speaker 3: So hard?
- 34:28Speaker 2: It's like you know flint Stone level was right?
- 34:33Speaker 3: Yeah? Or I put it on the table and it
- 34:34Speaker 3: tips the table right exactly. Do you have any mishaps
- 34:37Speaker 3: like that? Thankfully? No, I never I like pride myself
- 34:40Speaker 3: on having never ever dropped a tray. I feel like
- 34:44Speaker 3: you would be. I was very hard pore about it. Yeah,
- 34:48Speaker 3: what you didn't have an arms strength? You would work
- 34:50Speaker 3: out of balance.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Yes, wow, that's amazing to hear. I love to hear that.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Did you have to do that thing? Where that the
- 34:57Speaker 3: Alamo draft House? When people when people are watching that,
- 34:59Speaker 3: they sort of like around. You don't like about Almo depressing?
- 35:04Speaker 3: It's a bad business model. Yes, it makes me feel depressed.
- 35:08Speaker 2: It throws everyone into a weird mood. I'm trying to
- 35:11Speaker 2: watch the movie. There's a distraction. Yes, I've never had
- 35:16Speaker 2: the food, but I assume it's fine at best, it's great.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Okay, it's great. I mean I love it. Okay, so
- 35:25Speaker 3: you're you're in there making people go. I'm like lower
- 35:29Speaker 3: lower serving me.
- 35:34Speaker 2: You just love people serving?
- 35:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you love me crawling to you don't look at me,
- 35:41Speaker 3: and it feels so weird. You love it? I love it.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I mean when I say bad business model, it is well.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Actually I think they went bankrupt.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Did they really?
- 35:52Speaker 2: There was some financial issue It seems like or they
- 35:54Speaker 2: were bought out by private equity, as everyone.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Is private equity. Go away, Alice? Do we know what
- 36:01Speaker 3: happened with go Away?
- 36:04Speaker 2: Light day?
- 36:05Speaker 3: Private banks day rip lame private equity? Oh well, I
- 36:13Speaker 3: mean I have.
- 36:14Speaker 2: More questions about all of especially Arby's, and I do
- 36:17Speaker 2: just want to during the holidays we should mention the goblets,
- 36:20Speaker 2: the limited edition goblets you could get at Arby's. I
- 36:23Speaker 2: can't believe neither of you.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I don't know about that at all.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Go to a goodwill you'll find one. They had every
- 36:29Speaker 2: year they had different limited edition gobleinets.
- 36:32Speaker 3: But that feels like it doesn't align with the cowboy
- 36:35Speaker 3: hat theme.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Well again, who's the wheel?
- 36:39Speaker 3: At once a year?
- 36:41Speaker 2: They made it nice?
- 36:41Speaker 3: We were the goblets made out of plastic or glass?
- 36:44Speaker 2: I'm sure glass. The gorgeous goblets. I love it themes
- 36:49Speaker 2: sometimes they had movie themes. Beautiful, but I think we
- 36:54Speaker 2: should talk about something else.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I was excited to have you two here for the holidays.
- 36:58Speaker 2: I thought, no one will ruin the holidays for me
- 37:00Speaker 2: this year, especially Tian and Maria. Uh So I invited
- 37:04Speaker 2: you here on the show. I said no gifts, and
- 37:08Speaker 2: for the last half hour or so, I've been seeing
- 37:11Speaker 2: because you walked into the studio holding what are clearly gifts.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Are these for me? Yes?
- 37:17Speaker 2: Okay, fine? Should we open them here on the podcast?
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yes you should. Yeah, okay, you're.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Grinding my teeth to dust, I didn't wear my nightguard.
- 37:35Speaker 2: We'll open this first one on top. Who's this from?
- 37:37Speaker 3: This is for me? Okay, yeah, hand it.
- 37:40Speaker 2: This is kind of an Alamo situation. This is surprisingly heavy.
- 37:54Speaker 3: Yes, yes, it's it's a it's a. Yes, it is
- 37:56Speaker 3: surprising to.
- 37:56Speaker 2: You, and I want you to experience how heavy that is.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Oh my god, I did not. Now.
- 38:01Speaker 5: I'm glad you've been bouldering, because otherwise you would have
- 38:03Speaker 5: been able to.
- 38:06Speaker 4: No.
- 38:06Speaker 2: I would say this is probably a good two pounds
- 38:09Speaker 2: and it's not that big. It's kind of I.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Want to go. Last time you were I brought a
- 38:14Speaker 3: gift and you were so enraged. I didn't want to.
- 38:18Speaker 2: It's part of the studio designing listener, it's a if
- 38:22Speaker 2: you are so cruel not to remember it's a seed
- 38:25Speaker 2: design that Maria made. Uh, this is murder Seed wrote
- 38:29Speaker 2: and it's Angela Lansbury with a magnifying glass and scarf.
- 38:33Speaker 2: It's gorgeous and it's now part of the permanent studio design.
- 38:38Speaker 2: And your gift, unfortunately, is in a little drawer in
- 38:42Speaker 2: my house.
- 38:42Speaker 3: It was bangs.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I experimented with them. Didn't work for me, but I heard.
- 38:46Speaker 3: You looked good. I thought you looked really good.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Well maybe I'll try it again. Okay, let's open this here. Okay,
- 38:57Speaker 2: both of these, by the way, beautifully wrapped gifts. Thank
- 39:00Speaker 2: you you really you two went all out. Okay, we're opening.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Can we have the snow while I'm opening this? There's
- 39:07Speaker 2: the snow going. Oh no, oh my god, Happy holidays.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Okay, that's incredible.
- 39:21Speaker 2: That is incredible.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Or do you get something like that. That's a good question.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Probably, I don't know. Probably at your local gas station
- 39:29Speaker 2: or something.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Okay, I bet they do sell that dinner forks is
- 39:38Speaker 3: a pack of twelve a pack of twelve mirror polish. Look,
- 39:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:42Speaker 5: I know that this is a boring gift, but this
- 39:45Speaker 5: is a gift that I would want to get because
- 39:47Speaker 5: I don't know how you feel about but I can't
- 39:50Speaker 5: keep forks in my house.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Okay, I knew I would say things like that. I
- 39:57Speaker 3: knew that would happen. So this is just me. It's
- 40:02Speaker 3: not just me, because I talk to another friend and
- 40:04Speaker 3: she had the same problem. I don't know where they're going.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I don't know where they're going.
- 40:08Speaker 5: You know, maybe I'm just like throwing them out willy nilly,
- 40:12Speaker 5: But honestly, I can't keep forks.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I have two forks, two forks in my.
- 40:17Speaker 5: House, and then I'm constantly I have so many knives,
- 40:20Speaker 5: so many knives.
- 40:21Speaker 3: I have the opposite problem.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I have really two butter knives, and I have always
- 40:28Speaker 2: had more room for forks. So let's be honest, this
- 40:29Speaker 2: is a great deal.
- 40:30Speaker 3: I might ask for them back, but I do have
- 40:34Speaker 3: this problem.
- 40:35Speaker 2: With butter knives. But this is my defensive butter knives.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Occasionally you're like I need to pry something open in
- 40:39Speaker 2: the backyard, or I need to scrape something.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You throw it away?
- 40:42Speaker 2: Of course, why everything I own is one use?
- 40:46Speaker 3: TVs?
- 40:47Speaker 2: Cars, clothing?
- 40:52Speaker 3: Are you doing with your sowre question?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Again, I'm defending myself here. I use it as a
- 40:57Speaker 2: tool more than a I'm not scraping a lot of
- 41:00Speaker 2: butter onto toast, I guess. But your forks, this is.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Are you bringing them to lunch? I'm not.
- 41:06Speaker 5: I'm not I'm not bringing I'm not consciously bringing that
- 41:09Speaker 5: out of the Who knows what I'm doing.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:12Speaker 3: I don't, I don't they're they're I just I don't
- 41:17Speaker 3: think this is a just me problem. I really don't.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I'm glad that it's not a problem. I don't think
- 41:23Speaker 3: it's just me. Problem is I don't have enough data
- 41:27Speaker 3: to support Oh gosh, if this is a universal thing.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Yeah, this, I mean, they're out of three people here,
- 41:35Speaker 2: two of them have a lot of forces.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I have so many for you have more forks
- 41:39Speaker 3: than anyone.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I've just essentially doubled my swimming at forks.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to like run, I mean I can't.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I'm constantly fishing them out.
- 41:49Speaker 5: I really do, really have just three forks, two or
- 41:51Speaker 5: three forks, and I'm constantly putting them in the dishwasher
- 41:54Speaker 5: and then I'm like, I need a fork.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I'm wiping it off.
- 41:57Speaker 2: How many do you think you have a home right now?
- 42:00Speaker 3: Forks?
- 42:00Speaker 2: Forks three?
- 42:01Speaker 3: I think I have three? What's your spood? What are
- 42:02Speaker 3: your spoons? Like spoons? Have a million spoons?
- 42:05Speaker 2: Well, Maria, you can't take I can't take all of
- 42:07Speaker 2: this I'm going to give you.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Is this the first time you've given Look at how
- 42:10Speaker 3: there and now you gave me a gift?
- 42:17Speaker 2: Well, look, I control the podcast, I control what happens
- 42:21Speaker 2: here to me, and I know you're jealous. How many
- 42:23Speaker 2: forks do you have? I have?
- 42:24Speaker 3: I am flushed with forks?
- 42:26Speaker 2: Well you should have?
- 42:27Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, chow, but you're losing first.
- 42:33Speaker 5: I mean, I'm mister holiday, mister holiday, thank you, thank you.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Wow, So you're losing all of your forks. This to
- 42:43Speaker 2: me is this sort of gift I'm thrilled to get
- 42:45Speaker 2: because I'm not having a wedding. I'm never having a wedding,
- 42:48Speaker 2: and I think, you know, people are so spoiled at
- 42:50Speaker 2: weddings with things that you don't really buy.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I agree.
- 42:54Speaker 2: You know you're getting all sorts of appliances things that
- 42:56Speaker 2: you're like, I don't want to buy that for myself.
- 42:58Speaker 3: You're like, you don't need a fucking standing mixer. You're
- 43:00Speaker 3: never gonna make lighting. Okay, fine, sorry I brought it up.
- 43:03Speaker 3: That's listen. I know so many people that have like
- 43:08Speaker 3: put that on their wedding registry and I don't think
- 43:11Speaker 3: they've made it. They're like, I've made pasta one time.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Well, the pasta attachment is like it not putting it
- 43:17Speaker 2: in kitchen maid. No one's making the pasta exactly. They
- 43:20Speaker 2: might make dough or something, but the pasta thing gets
- 43:24Speaker 2: thrown in a drawer and is never used again.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I completely agree.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Homemade pasta is such an ambitious thing to do.
- 43:30Speaker 3: It's it's I find it kind of like pompous.
- 43:34Speaker 2: It's ridiculous. It's just it's not that much better homemade pasta,
- 43:38Speaker 2: and like dry pasta. Is that true?
- 43:40Speaker 5: I feel like I feel like forty years ago I
- 43:43Speaker 5: made a made homemade pasta.
- 43:45Speaker 3: It is really good.
- 43:47Speaker 2: What sort of pasta?
- 43:50Speaker 3: Long pasta? It was one street just looped around. It's incredible,
- 44:00Speaker 3: be like a mile away oh, so.
- 44:05Speaker 2: One person starts like across town with the spaghetti and
- 44:08Speaker 2: the other person they end up uh, absolutely in love,
- 44:11Speaker 2: Absolutely in love. That's interesting. That feels like something someone
- 44:14Speaker 2: should try. Actually, like a big o oh.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I could see that as some like Instagram sort of video.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Every day, I'm gonna keep eating this plasta till I
- 44:22Speaker 3: meet my love. Like that's what That's what I am at.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Do you know that? Like, do you have you seen
- 44:27Speaker 3: videos like that? Like I'm gonna walk around the world
- 44:30Speaker 3: until I meet my love. No, But like there are
- 44:33Speaker 3: people there's a man that I thought, there is a
- 44:34Speaker 3: man that I follow on Instagram. I do actually really
- 44:37Speaker 3: love him. He's walking around the world.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Wait, this is the guy who's been doing it for
- 44:40Speaker 2: like twenty seven years.
- 44:41Speaker 3: I just saw that guy.
- 44:43Speaker 2: This is a difference.
- 44:44Speaker 3: It is a different guy. This is a guy who
- 44:45Speaker 3: ripped off that guy. This is a guy who talking.
- 44:48Speaker 3: He's been on now for I'm trying to I'm trying
- 44:51Speaker 3: to listen to his voice in my head because I
- 44:54Speaker 3: think he's like day seven hundred and ninety eight. Yeah,
- 44:55Speaker 3: Oh that's that's a press. Yes, where is he? Where
- 44:58Speaker 3: do you start? He's started in Australia and then walked
- 45:03Speaker 3: up and I think he's now in Oh gosh, I
- 45:09Speaker 3: should know this Georgia.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Okay, So he got to the edge of Australia and
- 45:14Speaker 2: then took a boat and walked around the boat the
- 45:16Speaker 2: entire time.
- 45:16Speaker 3: And then I didn't sit down, and then and then
- 45:19Speaker 3: is now walk It's really, it's actually really, I'm really impressed.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I don't know. My complaint here is like, don't start
- 45:24Speaker 2: on Australia because then you immediately have to like start
- 45:27Speaker 2: in South America so you can walk all the way
- 45:29Speaker 2: out that.
- 45:31Speaker 3: He started there. Yeah, he just went through like up
- 45:34Speaker 3: coasts and right.
- 45:35Speaker 2: You want to start with at least two continents without
- 45:37Speaker 2: a yeah comment.
- 45:40Speaker 3: I'll comment, this isn't a real walk around the world
- 45:47Speaker 3: because you had to take a boat. But he's going,
- 45:50Speaker 3: he's going. He just wants to meet is he like
- 45:53Speaker 3: he's not meeting The love part is I've just had
- 45:57Speaker 3: three dates a day just whenever he meets on.
- 46:01Speaker 2: The road, he's looking for someone to drive him.
- 46:06Speaker 3: After that, I would meet my love in like in
- 46:09Speaker 3: like a week ago. Immediately I know I can't walk anymore.
- 46:13Speaker 3: This guy said the phrase meet my love like that's
- 46:17Speaker 3: also is a strange thing. I've never said anything like
- 46:20Speaker 3: that before. Meet my love, My love.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Would be good.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Rby's slogan mee, I love trying to.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Save the company.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Right, he's not really trying to save the company, but
- 46:31Speaker 3: he's walking around the world. He's walking around the world,
- 46:33Speaker 3: which always feels like kind of a scam to me.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Does he he should swim?
- 46:37Speaker 3: Also, he's not swimming anytime a machine comes in, he's
- 46:41Speaker 3: not swimming.
- 46:42Speaker 2: If a machine is involved, then it's just not for me.
- 46:45Speaker 2: That is just someone who's a little bored. Okay, I
- 46:48Speaker 2: don't know.
- 46:48Speaker 3: I'll tell him.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Okay again, that's if a machine is should not be
- 46:53Speaker 2: a machine involved.
- 46:54Speaker 3: But how is there a machine involved? Because he just
- 46:56Speaker 3: because he had to take like I see, because you know,
- 47:00Speaker 3: he should swim. I think he should get to the
- 47:03Speaker 3: edge of the continent that he's doing just a land base.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Yes, I need him to experience every element.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Yeah you if I'm going to send it to you,
- 47:13Speaker 3: you're gonna lie in. Okay.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Well, I can also just go like in circles around
- 47:17Speaker 5: Australia until he gets into the middle of Australia.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Oh interesting, and then dies and then cliffs and then
- 47:22Speaker 3: and then cliss up. I think.
- 47:27Speaker 2: I think that's a better idea again, write that down.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Three comments so far they need to get meaner and
- 47:34Speaker 2: more racist.
- 47:35Speaker 3: So let's do that, person, I will do that.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Okay, So the fat did we over got to spaghetti?
- 47:45Speaker 2: Kitchen aid mixer. I do think that's a good wedding gift.
- 47:49Speaker 3: I think that's a good gift for anyone.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love it.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Because everyone I know that has it is not using
- 47:56Speaker 3: it often. Do you have to use it for you
- 47:59Speaker 3: to feel like they're youth?
- 48:00Speaker 2: It? O? Good question.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I feel like if you have a kitchen aid mixer
- 48:03Speaker 3: that you should be using it once a quarter.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Once a quarter, that's a I don't think that's asking
- 48:07Speaker 2: too much. I don't think if you if you use
- 48:10Speaker 2: it three times a year, then you're not using it enough.
- 48:12Speaker 3: No, I don't think.
- 48:13Speaker 2: So throw a fourth time in and it's like at
- 48:15Speaker 2: least for every season.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Every season you made something.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Yeah, there's like a holiday that you celebrate with your
- 48:19Speaker 2: kitchen aid mix or a cookie or pie in your.
- 48:23Speaker 5: Kitchen celebrating the holiday that you guys use special It's crazy, guys.
- 48:32Speaker 2: So do you have a kitchen aid mixer.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I don't.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Okay, well that's the problem.
- 48:36Speaker 3: It's a jealousy, jealous jealous about a queens and art.
- 48:40Speaker 3: I do have a queens of art.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I don't have one of those.
- 48:43Speaker 5: What does that do?
- 48:44Speaker 3: It just chops and dices, just chops and it makes Also, yeah,
- 48:49Speaker 3: you can. You can get like a dough attachment.
- 48:51Speaker 2: That seems unnatural to me. It seems like what sort
- 48:54Speaker 2: of dough it is?
- 48:55Speaker 3: Whipping it up so strong?
- 48:57Speaker 1: Right?
- 48:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 48:58Speaker 2: Yea, and over it. That's tough.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Yes, it is a tough cook it's not.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Its first thing is to make like a Pico de
- 49:04Speaker 2: gao exactly right. I think pesto, delicious pasto. I think
- 49:09Speaker 2: I owned something that's like a quisin Art. It's just
- 49:11Speaker 2: a chopper, yeah right, okay, I barely use that, so
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'm kind of the opposite. But you're making dough in
- 49:17Speaker 2: your queisin.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Art one time? Yeah, but I use it for everything else,
- 49:21Speaker 3: like I use it for sauces. Go to gyo.
- 49:25Speaker 2: What sort of dough did you make?
- 49:27Speaker 3: We just made cookies recently. It was a pumpkin oat
- 49:33Speaker 3: meal cookie.
- 49:35Speaker 2: It's nice. It was nice fall based. Yeah, it was nice, right,
- 49:41Speaker 2: And Marie, I feel like you are a little more
- 49:43Speaker 2: in favor of a quis or of a kitchen. Eight
- 49:45Speaker 2: are you making dough in yours?
- 49:47Speaker 3: I've made? Yeah, I probably made dough. And I think
- 49:51Speaker 3: I made some dough. I don't remember.
- 49:53Speaker 5: I think I made I made some biscuits recently, and
- 49:56Speaker 5: I don't know if I used the quisin art or not,
- 49:58Speaker 5: but I use it.
- 49:59Speaker 3: I have a quisin Art in all, so I have
- 50:00Speaker 3: a mini queis and art for just small.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Things like what a single nut?
- 50:05Speaker 3: Like last night I used that's well, but last night
- 50:09Speaker 3: I used it for a fetet dip that I made what.
- 50:17Speaker 5: Well, feta obviously lemon, lemon, rined garlic and a lot
- 50:23Speaker 5: of pepper.
- 50:24Speaker 3: And for like a pita it was for roasted uh squash.
- 50:31Speaker 5: Oh that's what happened for mesh when you serve it
- 50:36Speaker 5: on a bed of a whipped pa Oh.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Incredible. Was this for an event or just yourself? No?
- 50:46Speaker 5: A friend came over for dinner and but but then
- 50:49Speaker 5: he told me that he didn't like cheese, which I
- 50:51Speaker 5: knew before you.
- 50:55Speaker 3: But he likes pizza.
- 50:57Speaker 5: So I'm constantly my best friend constantly trying to push
- 51:01Speaker 5: him more cheese, because cheese.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Is cheese is a pretty universally enjoyed product.
- 51:07Speaker 3: I know I now understand cheese now because I didn't
- 51:11Speaker 3: grow up with like I grew up eating a lot
- 51:13Speaker 3: of Vietnamese food. There's cheese based you're not getting like
- 51:16Speaker 3: cheesy fu. Right, No, it's not.
- 51:18Speaker 2: A bad idea.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I think it would be.
- 51:22Speaker 2: That's like a cheese beef soup and sounds nice. Does
- 51:25Speaker 2: it sounds like an Arby sandwich?
- 51:27Speaker 3: It does sound like an Arby sandwich. Cheese beef soup.
- 51:30Speaker 3: They serve it in the goblet. You gotta just drink it.
- 51:34Speaker 2: But yeah, So when did you first start really getting
- 51:36Speaker 2: into cheese? Like college, I started to understand and was
- 51:39Speaker 2: it hard to get into?
- 51:43Speaker 3: I was open to it. I'm open to it, and
- 51:45Speaker 3: I'm still getting like being introduced to cheeses. But you're
- 51:49Speaker 3: not a cheese lover yet, I think I would. I
- 51:51Speaker 3: love a bree. I love a brea that I can
- 51:55Speaker 3: like always be like I love breath.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Right? Is there a cheese you won't do?
- 52:00Speaker 3: No, I'll try all of them. Okay, I'll try all
- 52:03Speaker 3: of them. Really stinky ones I haven't quite figured out yet.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Right those ones are I can't imagine anyone eating those
- 52:09Speaker 2: for the first time and enjoying them.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they're a little intents. I haven't quite gotten there yet.
- 52:13Speaker 2: I've only in the last five years come around to
- 52:15Speaker 2: blue cheese. Wow, yeah, me too, my beginning of the
- 52:21Speaker 2: difficult cheeses. Are you a blue cheese?
- 52:24Speaker 3: Any cheese, any cheese at all?
- 52:27Speaker 2: Incredibly stinky cheeses?
- 52:29Speaker 5: Any any cheese, like the stinkiest cheese you've ever I
- 52:31Speaker 5: don't remember names of businesses or cheeses.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Or okay, fine, but your friend came over. You knew
- 52:46Speaker 2: he didn't like cheese. You still made a cheese based
- 52:48Speaker 2: It's so funny like it.
- 52:51Speaker 3: No, he did it, he didn't like it was yeah, fair,
- 52:55Speaker 3: it's fair. And then I said, I said do you?
- 52:57Speaker 3: I said, do you?
- 53:00Speaker 2: What just happened? Something?
- 53:03Speaker 3: Something clift somebody got left.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Oh, this is the ghost of Chris Fleming. He was
- 53:11Speaker 2: the last person in this room, and this is the
- 53:14Speaker 2: gift he gave a while ago. But now, oh my god,
- 53:18Speaker 2: we're haunted. Everyone is haunted by Chris Fleming at some point.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Oh, I love him.
- 53:22Speaker 2: We love Chris Fleming, except for when he's haunting a
- 53:25Speaker 2: holiday episode the ghost of.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Podcast Gun.
- 53:31Speaker 4: You Have.
- 53:33Speaker 3: It's honestly, you're too careful about it. It is so
- 53:36Speaker 3: it feels very natural to you. It's when I when
- 53:39Speaker 3: I when I, uh my dad got me a gun
- 53:42Speaker 3: that was like that think Derringer when I got into college.
- 53:49Speaker 2: And do you still own it?
- 53:50Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 53:51Speaker 5: I got stolen out of a car, that's right, Which
- 53:53Speaker 5: is so I myself constantly.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Because it probably has been used to kill someone. Yes, no,
- 54:01Speaker 2: for sure you're going to be framed.
- 54:02Speaker 3: I didn't think about that. Yeah, if someone still think, yeah,
- 54:07Speaker 3: you what if you came in and I had a little.
- 54:11Speaker 2: What a mystery solved?
- 54:15Speaker 3: Scary? Oh did someone give you that?
- 54:18Speaker 4: Yes?
- 54:18Speaker 2: This was given on the podcast actually by Lizzie Cooperman.
- 54:21Speaker 3: Oh wow, Okay, that's really good. Did it have little?
- 54:24Speaker 1: Uh?
- 54:24Speaker 2: It came with nothing. It was ultimately a bad gift
- 54:27Speaker 2: by her. It should have had a bullet or a
- 54:29Speaker 2: little pellet or something.
- 54:31Speaker 3: What are the they have like little things that make sounds? Right?
- 54:34Speaker 2: What are called?
- 54:36Speaker 3: I don't think it's always there for us and we
- 54:38Speaker 3: know what it is. It's a I know what you're saying, Elic.
- 54:41Speaker 3: You have any idea what the sort.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Of gun is called? It's a toy cap gun cau
- 54:46Speaker 2: but let's make a satisfying click.
- 54:48Speaker 3: It does.
- 54:49Speaker 2: I know, it's right into a little handbag.
- 54:52Speaker 5: Did you have anything like that when you're growing up,
- 54:55Speaker 5: real guns or toy guns, but that kind of gun
- 54:59Speaker 5: would be.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Oh joy killed joys.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Absolutely killed joys.
- 55:04Speaker 2: We would have nerf guns, which you know, fired the
- 55:07Speaker 2: We had super soakers, super soakers.
- 55:09Speaker 3: It does hurt when you got shot. No, super soccers
- 55:12Speaker 3: were just like you fill a thing with water. It
- 55:13Speaker 3: was just a water gun and then it would break
- 55:16Speaker 3: and then it would break almost one time use again,
- 55:19Speaker 3: which I love.
- 55:20Speaker 2: I support plastics that are one time use.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Did you have guns growing their guns? But then we
- 55:26Speaker 3: also had like cap guns like that, and we also
- 55:28Speaker 3: had BB guns. Did you shoot the guns? We shot them?
- 55:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I shot all the guns, but yeah, but the
- 55:34Speaker 5: BB guns, Like my brother shot me with the BB
- 55:36Speaker 5: gun and that hurts.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I grew up in a culture of guns.
- 55:40Speaker 2: My brothers both had BB guns. I think at some
- 55:42Speaker 2: point my parents there was a vibe coming from me
- 55:45Speaker 2: whether they're like, well, we don't need to get him
- 55:46Speaker 2: one of those.
- 55:47Speaker 3: They didn't know what it was.
- 55:49Speaker 2: They were like, for whatever reason, we don't think he
- 55:50Speaker 2: needs a gun.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I've gone paintballing. That's like the paintballing. Yeah, it hurts.
- 56:01Speaker 3: Can I take it again? Take it again? Christmas? It
- 56:06Speaker 3: freaking sucks. It was part of a bachelor party.
- 56:12Speaker 2: It's always part of it.
- 56:12Speaker 3: It's always part of a bachelor party. And like the
- 56:15Speaker 3: only lesbian at the bachelor party. And it hurts. Yeah,
- 56:20Speaker 3: it probably you're you're like so scared. I was scared,
- 56:23Speaker 3: But I.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Think that's kind of important. Otherwise the game is not
- 56:26Speaker 2: that fun. It's important to be scared of all times
- 56:28Speaker 2: of your life, to never stop worrying constantly.
- 56:32Speaker 3: One second I thought I could be good For one second.
- 56:36Speaker 3: I was like I could get low and kind of
- 56:39Speaker 3: run around and hide. And no, it was shot you.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Oh I don't remember who?
- 56:44Speaker 5: And did it hurts?
- 56:44Speaker 3: It hurt? Like and where did they shoot you? In
- 56:46Speaker 3: my arm? Yes? And I stopped. I was like, I'm
- 56:51Speaker 3: I was like, I'm not doing And is it like
- 56:53Speaker 3: a winner the winner is the last person standing? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 3: I'll tell you.
- 56:58Speaker 5: I definitely think that I would do this. If I
- 57:01Speaker 5: had to play paintball, I would start out just being
- 57:04Speaker 5: like shoot me so I could get like me.
- 57:07Speaker 3: I don't want to spend.
- 57:08Speaker 5: I know I'm not gonna win, and I don't want
- 57:10Speaker 5: to spend like an hour or however long it takes
- 57:13Speaker 5: being scared that someone's gonna hit me in the head
- 57:15Speaker 5: with a and like whatever and can cuss me.
- 57:18Speaker 2: That describes my end of the world's opinion, Like the
- 57:22Speaker 2: moment it happens, just like, Okay, I'm done.
- 57:24Speaker 3: We don't need to survive for that.
- 57:25Speaker 2: No, I don't want to be I don't want to
- 57:26Speaker 2: scam and defend myself in any way.
- 57:29Speaker 3: I can like.
- 57:30Speaker 5: Lucid dream so when I'm when I'm dreaming about somebody
- 57:34Speaker 5: trying to kill me, I purposely run towards them. And
- 57:40Speaker 5: I'm not joking, so I can like get it over with,
- 57:44Speaker 5: you know, And then I know, like I know, I
- 57:45Speaker 5: know it's just a dream and I'm just like I'm
- 57:47Speaker 5: just gonna let this person, it's a guy, always kill me,
- 57:51Speaker 5: kill me and stab me or whatever whatever he wants
- 57:53Speaker 5: to do, and then I'll be old.
- 57:55Speaker 3: It'll be over with this away from I know that
- 57:59Speaker 3: what is normal. I don't know problem solving. Would you
- 58:03Speaker 3: escape people in your dreams? Well, I know I don't
- 58:06Speaker 3: wake up, you just wake up. I was wake up. Yes,
- 58:09Speaker 3: if something scary is happening, I remember just being like
- 58:13Speaker 3: wake up.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Wow.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 58:15Speaker 2: All I want is to be able tolucid dream and
- 58:17Speaker 2: I can't. It's interesting to me that, like within the
- 58:20Speaker 2: world of like you're dreaming and you could do literally
- 58:22Speaker 2: whatever you want, some one has a gun and you
- 58:23Speaker 2: don't like then become.
- 58:25Speaker 3: Really strong and like bight turn. You know what that
- 58:30Speaker 3: is interesting? It works. It works for my personality, I think.
- 58:35Speaker 3: I think that is what I'm like.
- 58:39Speaker 2: No, I've tried to train myself to lucid dreams. They
- 58:42Speaker 2: tell you that, like, uh, in real life, you should
- 58:46Speaker 2: like if you see text or numbers, you should look
- 58:48Speaker 2: at them, look away, then look at and make confirm
- 58:50Speaker 2: that they're still there. Because I guess you can't do
- 58:51Speaker 2: that in dreams. Like in a dream, if you were
- 58:54Speaker 2: to do that, you would look and it would be
- 58:55Speaker 2: a different thing. Oh, you're supposed to take do dream journals.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Barely did that, so I guess I'm not trying very hard.
- 59:02Speaker 3: I think journal after you, yeah, write down.
- 59:05Speaker 2: What you wrote, And I've never been able to get
- 59:08Speaker 2: into it, and I want maybe I want it too bad.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to be a little more likely, Yeah,
- 59:13Speaker 3: you have to be like, I don't want to dream.
- 59:17Speaker 2: I can't constantly respond to the text.
- 59:18Speaker 3: Yah, take a few weeks of.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Yeah, right now, this is me.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Let me lose.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Listen, I'm holding a gun to the camera. You're missing out.
- 59:32Speaker 2: Gather the TV around the computer.
- 59:33Speaker 3: It's the holiday TV.
- 59:37Speaker 2: Gather the TV around the computer.
- 59:39Speaker 3: I'm so drunk.

- 59:48Speaker 2: I've given you each forks. I have this bounty of
- 59:51Speaker 2: forks that I get to take home with me. Should

- 59:54Speaker 3: I would like to see this.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Okay, right, this is lighter than I expected. I was
- 59:59Speaker 2: hoping for something really dance.

- 1:01:36Speaker 3: For me Arby's meats, and I love that it just

- 1:02:55Speaker 3: force like kind of like a pack of recipe book.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: And I saw that and I was like, this is perfect.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: It does and I bought two and because there were
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: two of these. This is the thing that I have
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: found across two different things. Like I have one for
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: myself whoa that I bought at a different in Chicago.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: This one I found in Champagne. Wow, because I was like,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: I will have to give this. I think I could

- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a mess. That's disgusting.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: It is gross.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Let's say barbecued hamburgers. This is salad oil. One of
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: the rest of One of the things you need is
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: salad oil and a quarter cup of sugar. We all

- 1:04:30Speaker 2: good advice is good gravy This is brought to you
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: by a fire truck. When gravy from the roast, you're

- 1:05:15Speaker 2: itally sized. Little. Don't overdo it with the cold water.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Stirn too bouleon cook until thickened. So I guess it's
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: one of these things where it's like, well we have
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: a tablespoon of flavor. Yes, now make beef colored water, yes,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: which is for emergency.

- 1:05:43Speaker 3: I love I kind of love meat. Meat.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Did it start with Damons?
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: It didn't start with Damon's. Like my my growing up
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: the weekend, my parents loved doing like Vietnamese barbecue, and
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: so like from there, I've just always kind of love
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Like my mom would make incredible ribs and chicken wings
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: in like a fish sauce sort of based marinate uyuni lunchtime,
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: and then I would I loved grilling, oh okay, and
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: so I still and what is it called? Not tang uh?
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: What is it when you put meat in a mar
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: And yes, I love a marinade.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: So how often are you cooking a big meat meal?
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: I mean, my wife would like it to be less,
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: but it is.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Not a man.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: No, she's not a man.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: So she's on the right path.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: She is on the right path. Probably like I think
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I grew probably like once a week. That's amazing, crazy,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: that's okay, Okay, I.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Think that I would love for somebody to grill for
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: me once a week, And yeah, I do.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: I think I do do that.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Wow, And do you have like a famous recipe? Do
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: you say here comes famous that like.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I have adapted. I can't make the ribs to taste
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: exactly like my because you never can. It's so hard.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: But that is like amongst my friends, that's the one
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: that is the one that people remember what.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Sort of things we're putting in the marinade.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: So it's brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, low sodium soy sauce,
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: and a little bit of a little dark soy sauce.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: So I think that's just me trying to be like
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: heart health healthy, Okay, even though it's even though it's
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: bad meat brill.
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: Something I'm gonna take care of, something that'll makes sense,
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: I understand.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: And a little fish sauce for that little like kind
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: of ineffable and an onions, garlic, salt and pepper, what
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: about some and a little ketchup ketchup right, a little
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: ketchup that makes sense within a like a barbecue sauce. Yeah,
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: and it's like very a little sweet, little savory. And yeah,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: I used to make it all the time and I
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: still do. But that is what I like to make.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: So jealous do you grill at all?
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Well, I have a grill. I don't you just turn it?
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, no, I but I have started to get
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: into like I've gotten gotten it and I want to
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: ask you where you get your meats because I've started
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: to like go in different places to get me like,
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: you know, like meats that are that are raised on
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: the little farms and stuff.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Socall, we've talked about that cookbook and Lazy Acres is
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: the other place that.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Lazy which is kind of Bristol Farms.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Junior, Yes it is. Yeah, so that is where I'm
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: getting good meats.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Well, I'm thrilled about this. I'm absolutely over the moon.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I'm going to have to have some sort of beef
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: party forks for everyone.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: A beef party. Invite women though, or do you want to?
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Are we just making it for you? You'll be Yeah,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: you'll be behind the scenes. You will not be seen. Yeah,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: you will leave once the meat is ready. The lights
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: go out.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Everyone suddenly there's a plate of food in front of them.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: The women have vanished.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: I love this. This sounds good for us ultimately, it's
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: good for you for me too.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I'm giving here, I'm giving, and I'm giving and I'm giving,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: and all that you two do is take. It's kind
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: of gross. Ultimately, well, I'm gonna put this here. I
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: think we should play a game. Okay, O, great, We're
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: going to play a game called Gift or a Curse.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Do you too have anything to promote or recommend? It
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: is the holidays. I'm willing to give you a chance
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: to do something for yourselves.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: I will be in San Francisco doing San Francisco Sketch
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Fest at the end of January. So if you're in
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: San Francisco, come come see a stand up show.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Oh that's great.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: It's the end of January and end of January January thirty,
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: first listener.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: If you don't do that, then what are you doing
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: in a Bay Area?
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Come on, get on the bart, Get on the bart,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: go come to punch on the trolley. Get on the trolley.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: I love this.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Do an entirely track based way to get there.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Don't take away mo get to me.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: Okay, Maria, do you have anything?
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: Well, I feel like it's the things that I have
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: to promote are not coming out recently, so so I
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: just really know.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: You're You're on Instagram, You're in all sorts of good uh,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: film and TV. Yeah, what he types, Maria Thay are
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: into Google to.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Yes, go on a journey. There's some old stuff, there's
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: going to be some new stuff. I think that may
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: be on an episode. Well, I don't know, you know what.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: I like that Now someone's going to watch every single
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: episode of television on.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: An episode of television very soon that you know. Oh,
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: I can't wait a movie coming out at some point.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: Okay, I wrote on a television show that's coming out
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: in months.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: I guess, I don't know. Anyway, the people that.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: You're working for are not happy with you right now.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: They were already not happy with it.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Right now, they're busily trying to edit you out of the.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: Right right you know whatever feeling.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: I tried to give you a nice.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Little you did you did? You did a really lovely
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: you did something very nice, You did something very nice.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: You were missus clause type you are? You are missus
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: clause and uh, but we should play the game. I'm
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: going to name three things. You'll tell me if there
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: are a gift or a curse, and why then don't
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: tell you if you're right or wrong, because there are
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: correct answers. You two are competing against each other.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, this could destroy Yes, I told you that
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: I would run right into the as soon as I can,
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: So that's competitive.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: I am all right, Well, I'll be very careful. This
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: first one is from a listener named Noah, and these
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: are a holiday theme. Doesn't that fun for a holiday episode?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Noah has suggested gift or a curse cinnamon scented pine cone.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Pine I answer, okay, who wants to go? I'll go?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Curse was just pointed at me. It's high, like blacked out?
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Did I even say my answer?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Even four hours?
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: A curse has already smelled good enough. They don't need
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: anything that same.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Okay, both of you are cursed. Yeah, I would say
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: curse as well, because I'm just like, why ad I
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: if I get the pine cone? I'm getting the pine
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: cone for the pine cone smell.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: Right right?
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I like pine better than me? Too interesting?
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: I do too wrong?
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Woh god?
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Why I stepped on a pine cone with a bare
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: foot before? Yes, this disgusting cinnamon scent is a great
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: way to alert you that you're coming up on a
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: pine cone that's rolling around on the ground that fell
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: off of the display in your robe your early morning.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: If it were just pine, you would probably confuse it
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: with the Christmas tree and think nothing's wrong. You smell
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: that disgusting cinnamon, you know something's wrong. You're able to
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: go and pick it up off the floor.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: What about pine? That smell like pine? But they they
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: scream all the time, or like they make a sound interesting?
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Yeah, pine cone?
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: I like that. Okay, so that's okay. I'd be what
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: is it saying? Don't know? Can you haven't say whatever
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: you want?
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Screams kill me?
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Well, you both got that wrong, had to hear it.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: I disagree.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Well, of course you disagree. You got it wrong, and
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: you're a sore loser. It is a holiday, it's trying
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: to be in a better mood. Okay. This next one
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: is from a listener named Casey. Gift or a curse
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: White Elephant Gift exchanges.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: I can go first this time. I'm gonna say gift.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: Why because I like the element of surprise, And I
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: know people like what is white elephant? The one where
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: you just put it in the middle and then everyone
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: takes it one at a time and then you can
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: steal someone else's gifts. Yeah, I like that. I like
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: the addition of sort of anger and drama into a
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: sort of gift giving element like I like, I like
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: the way that like like. I did it once with
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: my family and I ended up with the gift that
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: I brought, which is which is wit some time. But
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: I loved it. I loved every second of it. What
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: was the gift? It was a cocktail. It was honestly
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: not a great gift. I understand why it was left
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: on the table. It was a cocktail recipe book interesting,
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: honestly helpful, but no one and recipes I am. I
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: love them interesting. I love recipe books.
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: Right, so gift, gift and gift because well, because it's
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: a gift, it's literally a gift, and I'm a literalist.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Wrong curse.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I hate these things.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: I hate.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: I think about it last minute. I find something in
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: the closet that's neither useful or funny, it's just junk.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: I take it to the party. I see something I
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: actually want.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: The one person that brought something nice, probably a gift card,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: twenty five dollars gift card. I want it so bad
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: I become very competitive to get it. I don't get it.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: I drive home from every white Elephant exchange in tears. Oh, horrible. Wow,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: the bad.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, there was one. There was one at my office
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: when I worked in advertising, and there was the boss
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: had put an iPod. That's that is very that is
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: very cruel. Yes, if everyone is doing fifty and under,
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: you can't just drop in an iPod. And god, I
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: can still picture the faces of my coworkers getting the
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: iPod stolen and being handed like socks. It's tough.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: That would ruin the holiday.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: They would ruin the holidays.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Oh, I hope it went to a good home. Or
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: was it one of your least favorite coworking.
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: I think it was one of my least favorite. I
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: think it was the woman who had two rats as pets.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Oh god, well, she needed something, she needed something, something
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: to take home.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: And ratip pets are good. I don't want the rat
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: I don't want the rat community to come after me.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Had it happened before, after before, I've had it happened before.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: And rats are really smart.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: Let's say some good things about rats.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: So really smart. They're there. They are rodents. The rodents. Yes,
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: they're not cockroaches, and they're not cockroaches. They from certain
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: angles are cute.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see why someone would love a rat.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: I can also for myself to see why it would
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: be the most horrifying creature. The tail is a horrible
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: tr move.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: It's the hit. It's the tail for me as well.
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: But it's the tail for you. That's good.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: If it's the tail for you, then it is weird.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I can understand the rest of the.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: Rat in the rat community.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: We love rat owners. I just have a deep trauma
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: with rats, and I have a hard time.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Wait, what is it from?
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: I had a rat as a first grader and it
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: escaped and went to live in the garage as a
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: rabbit animal and had a tragic end, and then the
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: betrayal the idea of rabies and then becoming disease carriers.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: Just stayed with me for the rest of my life
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: and ultimately as my mom's fault splinter. Because I wanted
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: a Ninja turtle. My mom thought I would get sell
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Manila from a turtle, so she thought, let's get a rat.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: I've talked to with her about this and I've made
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: sure she was a bad parenting movie.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: Okay, so you both have gotten zero? All right?
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: This final one is from Kathleen Gift or a Curse
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Vegan Eggnog.
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: I guess, uh, I don't know this one is this one?
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: I could go either way. I guess I don't like egnog.
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: I think eggnog is a curse, personal curse. I wouldn't
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: say it's a curse for everyone. It's a personal curse.
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: And I'm gonna say it's a you know, gift. I
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: don't know, it's just a gift. It's a gift to
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: have a choice.
- 1:18:45Speaker 7: Of Okay, I'm gonna say, curse the pure. Some things
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: don't need a vegan version. Some things don't need a
- 1:18:54Speaker 7: vegan version. And I want my I want eggs in
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: my eggnog. That is spoken like a true meeting.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: I'm sorry. No, I love that you can have a choice.
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: But for this, I'm going to say, curse. It's a gift.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: It's a gift. It's a gift.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: This is the only way I'll drink my eggnog. And
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: I'm a dairy heavy person, but I don't like the
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: I don't even know if it actually has eggs. It
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: does it, but that's the word there, and then it's
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: so thick and the dairiness of it it all is horrifying.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: But for whatever reason, when we say almond milk or
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: oat milk with those flavors, I think it's a delightful beverage.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: I think that's the only way I'll drink an eggnog
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: is if it's not dairy based. And I drink milk
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: every single day, that's something wrong with.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: Me, as I drink milk every way. But I also
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: drink milk every day. But when you when you say
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: it out loud, it does sound freaking in cereal or like, yeah.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Mi, you've been trying. Look, someone was trying to shame
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: us out of drinking milk. And I'm standing up and
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: I'm saying, look, I eat a cookie. I need milk
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: me too. I'm sorry.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: So, okay, I understand cereal. Every day, sometimes I have
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: like a I don't know, like this morning, I had
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: an RX bar, okay, and a glass of milk right water.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Can you imagine that feels like stranded?
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Yeah. It hasn't drank milk since I was a kid.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: I mean unless it's like I have a chocolate chip
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: cookie and somebody it's just like the perfect thing that happen.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Okay, So if you had a chocolate chip cookie every day,
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: you would drink milk every day.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Do you have a chocolate chip cookie?
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Almost? I have some type of cookie every single day,
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: so I.
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: So much. That makes me happy. I Oh, I do
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: you make these?
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: This is something I I will make a batch of
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: dough and then I freeze, you know, because if I
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: had a bunch of cookies, I would eat all of
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: them at the same time. So the listeners like, shut up, Richard,
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: we know. But I will make the dough, turn it
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: into balls, freeze it, and then bake myself one cookie
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: every night. My boyfriend Jim used to have one cookie
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: as well. He doesn't know how good he has it.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: He's now eating those ice cream sandwiches from Trader Joe's
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: every night, which I recently discovered. The cookies and cream
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: ones are pretty good.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: They're pretty good.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: The other one I don't. I could, the chocolate chip
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: cookie one doesn't work. Oh, the mini cones I've heard
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: are good.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I haven't hand really good.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: But I every night a cookie unless I run out,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: and then I'll always have a backup of like frozen
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: something from the store just in case I need a
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: treat every night.
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: No, I love this and I feel like it if
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: fits perfect. Something about it, yeah, something about it. It's
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: just perfect.
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: Do you to not finish the day with a treat?
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: I do?
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Okay, what's your truth?
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Sometimes a little chocolate, a little dark chocolate, classy, sophisticated. Yeah, okay,
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: take it, okay, dark, a dark chocolate, or a little
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Trader Joe's mini cone.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: Okay, I do love that. I need a treat at
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: the end of the day. It's a reward. It is
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: a reward, something you can always count on. What are you?
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: I don't know though. Yeah, it's a little treat.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't have to be an extravagant thing. It
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: could be a life saver.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be sad. That would be sad.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but the last thing you have before bed, you
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: have a single life saver. No, that's a tough thing
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: to think about.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: It'd be hard for me to have the self control.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: I would have to do what you do.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Yes, this is something I had to learn because there
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: was no self control whatsoever. But I'm having my milk,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: I'm having my cookie. Everyone's going crazy about protein these days.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: I get a little protein.
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: At the milky.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Look, I'm with the dairy council. Sue me, you guys.
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: Milk is like ten grams of protein.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: This now feels like sponsored content, and unfortunately it's not
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: like something we even get something free from. And they're
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: not going to send us a gallon. That's not something
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: I want on my porch. Maybe a subscription to a milkman.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Imagine I having a milkman deliver a bottle of milk
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: every moment, old fashion with that. That's very meat for man,
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: that is very meat. And oh yeah, I'm sure that exists.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure it does too. Like Oberweiss, I feel
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: like probably does it interesting? Sorry, dropped a milk name, Oberwiss, Oberwise.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: That sounds fancy. Yeah, you can buy it is out
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: of a glass bottle. Nothing better, nothing better. Well, unfortunately,
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: and we've come together in a lot of things in
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: the last few moments where you did lose the game.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: I did lose Maria one.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: She got one out of three, which is bad. So
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: you lost to a looser. Merry Christmas, Okay, we uh,
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: we should answer at least one listener question. The unfortunate
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: thing about this podcast is people write into I said
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: no gives at Gmail dot coffee Calm, and they often
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: have Christmas questions. But they often come in after we've
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: recorded for the holidays, so then they don't get their answers,
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: so we should answer at least one Christmas question. Let's
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: see here bu bu buh.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Hm.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: And then I open it and I'm immediately like, what,
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: who cares? Let's see here? Bup up up? I thought
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: I had the holiday ones. Oh, here we go, let's see. Okay,
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: hello Bridger and guest. So unfortunately doesn't. It's just one
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: of you.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: You should probably both feel free to speak, and says
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: as the holidays what sorry, excuse me, we were trying
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: to decide who was guest.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: Okay, I'll throw a knife between the two of you
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: and let you figure it out. As the holidays grow nearer,
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: I realize we are in a bind. My family buys
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: alcohol as the default gift for everyone. To me, this
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: is not an issue at all and is actually a
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: welcome gift. However, my husband is newly in recovery. He
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: does not want to draw attention to this fact, but
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: also does not want to get a bottle each for
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: my parents, brother, and sister to tempt him. How do
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: we mention this to my family that we would greatly
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: appreciate if they stray from their tradition of easy gifts
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: of whiskey and get a non alcoholic gift. Thank you
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: so much. That's from Emily. So this is a this
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: is an actual question, which is surprised Emily. I think
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: you just tell them, but I don't know.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: The family.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: Yeah, family, troubled group of people. They're all drunk all
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: the time.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: Congratulations to your husband.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, marrying into this horrible group of people. Yes, they're
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: all like it's set off by the smallest things change
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: and yeah, they're horrible with change. They just want whiskey
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: and to keep living the lives that are already living.
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: So how do we get them? I think I know. Well,
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: first I would be like Emily, go to therapy, Go
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: to therapy, learn about how to set the boundaries. No, no, no, no,
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: you're right, you're right.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: It's her fault. Everything here is Emily's fault. She brought
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: this husband in who she's tiptoeing around his feelings, she's
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: tip tiptoeing around her drunk family's feelings, and she's writing
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: into podcasts. What what are we supposed to do with
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: this person?
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: Okay, I have got so I have I do like
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: to drink, but also when I I do like also
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: a lot of also do. I'm going to keep saying.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Also, that's your last also, and then you'll be asking.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Non alcoholic drinks. Okay, I actually do really like there's
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: a whole new industry and I feel like, Emily, you
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: should just pick the non alcoholic drinks that you think
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: your husband will like and send them to you, like
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: make the gift shopping easy. Already have it picked out,
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: because if you send, if you tell drinkers or this
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: family of gift givers that like, go buy now an alcoholic,
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: I could I could hear them being like where would
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: I get that?
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: You know, like right, they're already so mad. They're already
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: so mad, mad and lazy. They're mad and lazy. They
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: don't want to do that research. Where am I going
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: to get that non alcoholic? Is it in the same aisle?
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Like you can just hear them like, oh, look at him.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: I guess he doesn't he doesn't want jim p so true.
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: Souls like I feel like I feel like I wonder
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: if like she said that, she said that she didn't
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: want to draw attention to Is that right?
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: It?
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: Let's see, he doesn't want to draw attention to the fact.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: But then you have to have to Well again, it's communication,
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: which this family is fails at you every year. But
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: I think maybe, well, unfortunately, it's an unsolvable problem. There's
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: no way this can be solved outside of Emily maybe
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: buying a box of like a right and wrapping it
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: up and avoiding the family this year Sprite twelve cans
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: of Sprite, Sprite zero, Sprite Cranberry Sprite Ginger regular regular.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: If that's I think that's dangerous.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: Well, I think that Unfortunately, we've determined Emily has an
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: unsolvable issue.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: Shame to hear that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: But not everyone can have a good holiday, that's the thing.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd never promised to solve No, no, no, we're
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: just here to We kind of just listen.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Right, And there's so many of us. If everyone had
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: a good holiday, I don't know if the energy would
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: be too much.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: No, it would be too much.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: At least one person should have a horrible family and
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: a husband.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: That's mad at them, beautifully said.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: We answered that perfectly. And now I've got my forks,
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: I've got my meat recipes. I've just spent two hours
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: of my two best friends. I did bring you.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: Each of this is kind of rare.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: I thought about each of your personalities. You'll know as
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: soon as you open these, and okay, this is for you.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: They're beautifully wrap Trader Joe's bags and.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: The holiday themed bags, Holiday themed bags.
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: This is very nice. Feel free to open them here
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: on the podcast.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: Okay, would here God of War?
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: You got a copy of God of War three for
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: the PlayStation three.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: I knew you would love this. I saw that.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: I saw them at the store. I was at the
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: store sweating, panicking. I had looked at so many things.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: I thought, that looks kind of like to you and that,
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: and then I saw this. I thought, she needs got four.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Yes, because I've done this make up look recently. Yes,
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: you had a big red stripe across the red stripe
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: across my face. In the end, there will only be chaos.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: That's kind of that actually makes sense for you. That
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: makes sense for you, and so play it in good spirit.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: That's something you can gather the family or the TV
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: around the family, or the family around the TV and
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: fire it up and just get into God of War three.
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: Of course, of course, and Maria, let's see what you've

- 1:30:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's and The Wire season one. That's it's not

- 1:33:23Speaker 3: He could walk. I'm sorry.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: They were manipulating that wonderful Scrooge, very rich. Yeah, all
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Scrooge wanted to do was be left alone in some
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: of his families. They can feel bad about trying to
