Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: And here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, Faithful?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely incredible, a beauty, you guys.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Man, very few hours in between the last time we were hanging out with the late game, last night for the 49ers, but really excited.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to the NFL.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: They totally botched week one of the pre-season with the film, getting that out there.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: do it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was up right in early morning.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I started film breakdowns just a little after seven.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's so got the first quarter done.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's up on the 49ers rush.com.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's up on our Patreon page.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to go watch the coach's tape and zone all that stuff, go sign up now, seven day free trial.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's up.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's so
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: I even alluded to this yesterday.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: I've got some family in town again, my cousin in the Air Force is in town.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I had to get a show out kind of early this morning.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't get a finish breaking down the entirety of the tape, but finish the entire first quarter defense special teams offense all of that.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's up.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's so man, a lot of takeaways.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: You watch the tape after watching the game and just
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's it's it's a completely different feel, especially whatever you're talking Connor Colby, Carver Willis, all those different things.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: If just from the starters that played in the first quarter, which a lot of them played two series, you know, the defensive starters talking OCDZua, you got to include the Sean Stribling in the starter category.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now I love that he played 14 plays, Luke Feral 13 plays, property 12 plays.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: You go through off it's a defensive studs, the amateur, the norr.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think that you saw a lot of what you wanted to see.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that a lot that came across was, all right?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like some of these guys are ready to go.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're gonna be processing some of the analytical grades plus film notes see where they agree disagree with the starter top end players.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the goal of today's show.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: As always, I have to say thank you to the countdown crew.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go and H9ers in here first.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's say it with me, whether third and to John, three, third down conversions, he only played 14 plays, three, third down conversions, 14 plays should have been four, but that's okay.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Tim Ford, my man?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: Glad that you guys are here, Flynn in the house.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Love that he says, I love K-Lon Black, he look great.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: I really want to see them throw him some passes next to him.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's the question.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Katelyn Black definitely the, you can go back to his time at James Madison, had about 30 receptions one year.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: Most of them were just flare routes and out in the flats.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: There was one play where Katelyn Black got split out and he ran just a quick out route.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: It was all right.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: But it's really, really hard in this offense to put a running back on the field that can't help in the passing game.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the receiving prowess is just one avenue in the passing game.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: The other one is pass protection.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, absolutely crushed that.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: He was incredible.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 78.1 pass block grade, one elite performance stepping up against the blitz, three good performances.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: And my thing, I said this yesterday,
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: when you're watching K-Lum Black, the biggest positive is no negatives.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: He is a consistent winner, whatever it comes to, man, should have had a tackle for loss.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: He gets zero yards.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, all right, we're talking about a zero yard rush or with a rookie runback where we talk about, well, Brandon Parker completely missed his guy free defensive linemen through the B gap, which is designed to run the play through.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: shimmies a little bit and fights for two extra yards should have been a negative two yard play.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: There was a three, you know, he had a seven yard run that should have been a three yard run.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Those are all huge kept Brock pretty and Mac Jones from taking hits.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Versus the blitz.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: So many pauses helping other people around you.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: That is what Katelyn Black Neo brings the chosen one.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: The third round, Roddy Beck, that's finally going to pay off.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: had to happen eventually, right?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is Caleb Black.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, to Sean Stribling, let's talk about him, highest rated player, he had a 90.5 grade from PFF, highest rated, nobody else was even in the 80s.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 90.5 and that's with, that's with,
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: to drop touchdown pass.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't have been in touch.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't have been down at the two.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: He got tackled whatever else.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: But came in with the 86 run block great to Shonstribling was my second highest rated run blocking wide receiver in this draft class and it matters for the four dares.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: No block, no rock like that.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's just the way it goes.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's funny.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: You see the 86 grade.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of shocked by that because there were two or three negative run blocking plays for Jishan Stripling and man, shout out to, you know, Croc, he's the best you know, Eric Crocker with locked on.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's good friend of the show.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome dude.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like he put out there like it's crazy how much people are talking about wide receivers blocking and whatever else it's not important.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't say it's not, I want to phrase it the way in which he said it because he said also the wide receiver blocking thing, it's definitely requirement, but kind of overrated thing like a big hitting corner back as a receiver, I need you to put effort into blocking, but I pay you to catch passes and make plays corner back should better be able to tackle, but I pay you to cover a great.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: But whenever you're a flawed prospect, this is where Jordan Walken's Jacob Cowen conversation comes in, it can keep you off the field, Katelyn Black, yeah, you're running back, why we talking blocking, because that can keep you off the field.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can't put you out there if you're bringing negative plays on all the plays that we don't target.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Why receivers might get four to five targets a game, but you play 45 snaps.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: And half of those, 20 of those plays of those 45 snaps are running plates.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're negative for 20, only positive for the routes you run, that's an issue.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, if you're different, somebody that commented on it's like, oh, imagine overlooking just, that's all I'm saying.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you're elite at something, you can overlook the discrepancies, the weaknesses,
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Black eight day, he's a third round pick and that was a major reach, but hey, he's passing the test now.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkets, Jacob Cowling, those guys, they're now if you're in a lead, punt returner, Jacob Cowling, you can overlook some of those.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hard to find what Jacob, or just sorry, Jordan Walkets is a lead yet, but if the consistencies and there are no negatives to your game, then it's so easy to trust you, and that's what I see,
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: in Caitlyn Black so far.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now we we haven't seen the receiving aspect at all through two games.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't play in the first game.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: It had some injuries missed some time.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: But the fact that the past protection steps in is already awesome.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, you want complete players.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you want 11 all pros and all fence and defense.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's never happened in the NFL.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's never going to happen.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: The negatives keep players from playing that are back in of the roster players and for talking all pros, yeah, we talked about this last night, but to Sean Strivley, I thought major up tick.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: and blocking Jordan walkins major uptick and blocking still very, very soft.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: But that's okay to Sean's dribbling is not soft to Sean's dribbling is freaking awesome.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: It had just love that he got to starting treatment.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Ferrell's second highest rated player for the offense had some good had some bad.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: The drop pass on third down went up in a first down anyway had some decent blocks.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like the way Luke Ferrell wins.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's so hard to play and, you know, George Kiddo even talked about how people are given way too hard of a time and, you know, first year in the offense, whatever else.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so hard to see the way George Kiddo dominates the way he wins in their past and run game.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Ferrell's not that he's a finesse blocker.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to pancake guys.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to get vertical movement.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a different style player, but that doesn't mean he can't be consistently good.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: The tape was all right on him.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Had a couple negatives, missed a block.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: But he played 13 plays.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue 10 were a positive place where he got the job done.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: Not a dominator.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's that's the problem whenever you watch Luke Feral.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Number 89 out there.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, go get him like, be tough.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, not just not what he is.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not what he is.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Jordan Walkins not bad.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: He played the most snaps offensively with 53 snaps.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: He was out there not stop had a 55 run blocking grade that kind of shows you what it is that did have the drop touchdown that was huge, but a lot of positives.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: very bad at special teams.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's a thing.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: Having a back-end wide receiver that can't play special teams is a problem.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: I know he's getting reps to the returners, but it's so bad.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Brock Party was as advertised.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: I love the very first play of the game.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: He gets out there, can't can't cause it.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's first quarter, preseason game.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: He don't give it damn.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing this right.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Making quick decisions, mitigated, getting hit, like that.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: play 12 plays, I thought Brock was fine.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really did.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Bendole, man, you got the full Jake Bendole experience in 12 plays.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Had three negative plays, one forgot to snap count.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do that as a center.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Two had complete like there was a run up the middle.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was like second and two.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: There was a run up the middle did touch anybody.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Stops turns around, watches the guy that he was supposed to block tech like Jake Brindell.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I keep saying wrong, Jake Brindell.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: He said, mid-season four, baby.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, at a 59.9 grade.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: That is 60 grade from PFF is a replaceable starter player.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is the baseline average play in the NFL.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 59.9.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're getting what you're paying for.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jake Brindell is exactly what we know, and that's exactly what you're gonna be getting this year.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, yeah, it was funny, Captain.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Brindell looked to the sideline to see who the block.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: He did, he even held his hands up like this one time, like you've just like, I don't know, like, he's, he's what he did have the very first play of the game block two players in the run game.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: That was awesome.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: So you got some pauses, three negatives from your starting center out of 12 plays,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here, debo.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he looked like debo.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, finished with the 55.5 grade.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: He was an outlet pass from Brock Perty.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think on the second play, just ran a hitch route, not getting complex routes, not getting separation.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Thought he was really, really bad in the punt return game, but that's okay.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Mac Jones was awesome.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Shoulda had two damn touchdown passes.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Mac Jones played great.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really did.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, probably what I wanna spend the most time on
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: And again, go watch the film break down that we have up through the first quarter.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Watch it 74 verse 75.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Watching Carver Willis at left guard and Connor Colby at right guard.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now understand, this is an incomplete process.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: We've gone through the first quarter of tape so far.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby way more consistent way more.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Way more negative plays and way more highlights for Carver Willis.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of I don't want to say up ticked like again the past pro Connor Colby had a 41.6 grade horrible Carver Willis had a 41.1 grade horrible.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Lure Overall grade Carver Willis was the second worst player on the field he had a 40 grade only had a higher score than Adrian Martinez Who threw a pick six and another interception and threw the ball out of the end zone on fourth down and goal Carver Willis was worse
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now there are highlights and I'm sure those are going to get put out there on social media, which I love of Carver Willis where man, there are three plays in the first quarter where it's like, yes, they're all run place.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: That is where he shines.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: But man, what are the biggest question marks with Carver Willis?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Can he anchor?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Can he redirect and pass pro, he did not pass either of those tests in the first quarter versus quality opponents will continue that because he played 42 snaps Connor Colby played 45, but if we're talking the first quarter and I'm going to
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: copy and paste my analysis from the first preseason game with these two players, Connor Colby is more consistent.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Neither players good.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Neither players good.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby is more consistent.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby should be the starting.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: If the season started today, I would want Connor Colby to be the guy.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sealing play, Carver Willis has it.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Highlights, Carver Willis has it.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: More negatives, Carver Willis has it.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: And there was just this one play where there's a blitz coming.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not even really a true blitz.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis was getting help from Drake Neuchet, the center.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: This was working with the twos after Prindale's already gone.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: And like he's getting help and can anchor the defensive tackles pushing him and Drake Neuchet into the quarterback.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: And Carver Willis lands and steps on Mac Jones.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, meanwhile, one on one on the right side, Carver Willis's man, textbook post snap, he's got the back arch, he's anchored, pass rush or doesn't get with the three yards of the quarterback.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: You just see it, there's just certain plays.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you right now, like, Connor Colby is a better player right now.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: I hope they rotate them.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: But if you got a pick, a starting left guard right now, Connor Colby's the answer.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shennahan said, you know, nobody's really making that easy.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna go down to the wire.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Said that there's now an issue with Robert Jones, who's gonna be out next week as well.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones, that's done.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, there's no way he can make the roster.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not with, if that's the only tape he put up, you just can't.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way and like nobody is going to pick up Robert Jones if you look at that tape from the first preseason game like I said like dude might retire That might be what's happened in there.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: But Connor Colby's overcarver will us right now.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: The good news is you don't have to make the decision right now Can you add somebody try put in pleasant there he was even worse then he got injured that that experience over
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: And not good, but better.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: One has to be better than the other, right?
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: G-Bass, what's up?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that one left guard's knee is relatively okay.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking about Austin Pleasant's there.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what's up?
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: We got David Gilman, forget executive producer of the house, what's up, brother?
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's preseason, so I'm at the stage where I'm wondering if the Super Bowl parade go to be hosted in San Francisco or San Jose.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: That game was fun like and I get it and like you know every single thing I post on social media or whatever and even like the YouTube comments or just like dude It's just a preseason game.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, that that's not how we operate here.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: That is not what we do We celebrate what we can.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is the first football that we've had and so freaking long
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: And man, who knows the next time we're going to see a lot of these rookies, right?
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: So you take what you can and you be excited about that.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's right.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let's start making play.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's for the Super Bowl right off of a pre-season game.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this mark by man.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Mark.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: He did actually see a part return for a touch at first time in 15 years.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's not a regular season.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: So that
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like a full one, but yeah, Jacob Cowling, man.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: And again, like to pick up a conversation on yesterday's live show.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody asked like, man, didn't like a touchdown to touchdown, doesn't matter if it's special teams or Jordan Walkins, his touchdown, they're the same.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Once an 83 yard touchdown, the other one's a 20 yard touchdown.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: Big, big difference.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, shout out to Jacob Cowling.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, Hugo.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Hsxcc, I still don't know how I feel about the tight in-group.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Braiden Willisplay consistently will as a blocker.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Feral, look like Luke Feral, a little bit better.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Tanja's made some good plays.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 43 grade.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: He had some negative plays to play in 18 reps. Should have looked at Tanja's on a couple plays.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Max Jones should have.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: He was open.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's so you didn't get a CJ Tanja's what he's best at, which is being a receiving game weapon.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I don't know, even Hayden Roochie, which, you know, I'm just going off the broadcast tape for the second half yet.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't done all the breakdowns for those.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: I feel a little bit better, a little bit better about the Titan room.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: But understand, capped it up with you.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: The Titan room is blow average without kiddo.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: But if you tell me you get average to slightly blow average till kiddo returns, I think kiddo comes back week three.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take it.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't want to bismal, right?
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest weaknesses on this roster are tied in and safety.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: If those two could just be average, you sign up for that right now.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Slightly below average, all right.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now, well below average, maybe not.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's huge.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the Titan room is still, yeah, right here from OMG.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's the starting left guard on this team.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Four of ours don't care about guard players.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: don't look for them to add.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you can claim somebody that can come in and rotate and compete.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: But, man, you've got Connor Colby's not horrible.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's not good.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis might be good eventually.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to be the starting center.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: Ugh.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's hard.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: Big toe, my man.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super chat.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: His mama named him Brown.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call him Brown.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: For now, J.C. the King of movie references.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Dugger is raw, but sick.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's just winging it, but I like it too.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Jaden Dugger had some negatives in this game.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: For sure, let's jump over to the defense.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: But man, start it off, you know, gets the tackle for loss right off the bat.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: And, man, you start looking at his scores.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, where's my boy, J.Dugger at?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: There he is.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's right in the middle played 32 stats had a 65 grade 77 point zero tackle grade You you love seeing the wingspan you love seeing what he can bring the anticipation still there That was huge watch at 53 in the first quarter.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Dude gets it.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Dude gets it.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: The IQ is there.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: You love that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: You love that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: He reads the underkey with the blocks and he goes right where he's supposed to go, not all the time, most of the time.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, man.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you, big tone.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're the freaking man.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, back from OMG.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: How many defense of tackles do you think we keep?
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: They were talking on the broadcast last night.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: They did a great job that you know, you usually keep 10 linemen.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, the 40 hours usually keep 11.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then you start looking at the roster.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, man, if you keep 11, 11 defensive linemen.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's the 49ers have kept six defensive tackles in five D ends.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: They've kept five defensive tackles in 60.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: And they kind of flipped it throughout the
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: But all right, let's start counting the defensive ends.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, both someone from Mellowheit 2, Keyon White 3, Samo 4.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: The kill wave is gonna be on the pub.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Do you keep Ocaronco?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so, Quentin Bell played really well, by the way.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think you keep them on the 53.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Victor caught Diamond Kegy.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you keep him on the 53.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a chance you only keep four defensive ends on your initial 53, which gives you a spot to keep an extra defensive tackle.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: So let's count the defensive tackles.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: And remember, we're keeping four D ends, plus McKell Williams coming later.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: We'll bring back Ocaronquo, Quentin Bell, Victor Diamond Kegy
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: But like you can keep more than your usual allotment of defense of tackles.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Also, Digi Zua, awesome, Alfred Collins, you're keeping.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West, you're keeping Grace and Houghton, you're keeping that's four.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your four locks.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: I am not letting go of Bryson Eason or James Thompson Junior.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I have them way ahead of Sebastian Valdez, personal.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Sebastian Valdez played great played 23 snaps had a 75.5 grade.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was awesome.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yes, what?
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Bryce and ESA played 26 snaps had an 80 grade and James Thompson junior played 26 snaps had a 90.3 grade.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, it's great.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Fender.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I like Sebastian Valdez.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's the fan favorite.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: I like James Thompson and Bryce and he's in way more.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're way more consistent.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're way more consistent.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like you guys remember the chargers player who got his ACL blown out.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know why he got his ACL blown out because Sebastian Valdez got picked up power clean thrown across the room into his knee.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know why he's doing that to Bryson Eason James Thompson plays too high.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: But man, he is going the penetrating forces right like those guys can be rotational players with upside.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you're asking, I'm keeping six defensive tackles, period with this roster.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: My six in no particular order, also did use it with CJ West, Alfred Collins, Grace and Houghton, James Thompson, Bryce and Ethan.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm keeping those six.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm keeping six.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: If I have to, like if I got the extra spot, Sebastian Valdes would be my seventh, but I'm keeping James Thompson Jr. and I'm keeping Bryce and Ethan over, Sebastian Valdes right now.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's say you only keep six and you keep C bass and James Thompson Jr.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: But like I'm not turning those undrafted free agent team fits of tackles.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: You spend so much the 40 hours value that position more than almost anything.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm keeping them man.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm keeping them.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's go through the defense aside.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones was unbelievable.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones was unbelievable.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Two pass breakups played consistently great.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: Diomador, the North played 17 snaps was awesome.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: It probably defits a player of the game that third, and I think five, he runs strifer strides, stays, and perfect, phase with lad Maconkey, forces the punt.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Demo making the run play, Demo look great, man.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: not out of place, and he was where he should be for 17 plays.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take that.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: I will take that.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Ramello High played 13 snaps, not very many no pressures, but did get the TFL.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: No pressures through two games now.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's, uh, little problematic.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, up to Stout played eight snaps.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's my
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Upton Stout needs to play more football.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting the start of level treatment rightfully so, especially after Leonardo's green guy hurt.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want Upton Stout on the damn sidelines.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: The starters played 17 snacks.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: He got eight.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want him getting in a 50% snap rate.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is a negative.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest critique with this defensive coordinator who I love by the way.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest critique, dude.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: 20 needs to be out there.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta stay in 20 personnel.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: You got to.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's free.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know what else is free?

- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: All right, right here.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a question from the man himself.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: He says, you know, is there any safety is out there.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: that, you know, they can make moves before the season.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Taylor rap just signed.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been a good one.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: Darnell Savage, I think it's still out there.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: Marcus may still out there.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Odom still out there.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: He ain't going to help you there.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Jimmy Ward.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you can bring him back with all the off the field stuff going on there.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: You got to wait in either.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think the safety position one you signed a retired player that once
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody cuts the safety you bring them back, but I think you roll with what you got in a dress it later.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the 49ers entire game plan is, man, let's see what we got.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of know what you got with Jair Brown, but he did just put up a solid 17 place, Marky Seagull played, he was always where he needed to be.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: But like again, like you start looking at a marquee, see, he's played 17 snaps, right where I needed to be.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: No major negatives.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you want with the safeties.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to notice them too much.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: But man, yeah, I think you roll with what you got.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna get Malat and stuff at back, which brings depth.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: You've got three young rotational players, Ash and David, it's might make this roster as a special teams player.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he's just consistent, man.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he was the worst rated player in the game.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: So you do have to kind of give him that.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't gone through a second half tape yet, but we'll get there.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think you roll with what you got.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's glaring, you make a move, you know, week three, week four, you know, some of the rebuilding teams will then have shown themselves and you can trade for back end of the roster players on an expiring contracts.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's the move that those teams make.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what the Niners are kind of, they're hoping Jair Brown, Marquis Seagull,
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Mustafa, two of those guys show up.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they're hoping for.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't anticipate many moves.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a trade, but they just don't.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: Four of ours don't value safety.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, you trade for Atlanta's safety.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: They might be a team that goes full tank.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're quarterback situations just a disaster.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd love to trade for the proble safety out of Atlanta.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's freaking stuff.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see that and what are you going to give up a fifth round pick maybe six round pick maybe they don't even spin fifth round picks on safeties.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: They don't they don't so you're going to trade for a guy an expiring contract.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see it.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see it.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do with that.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: What you will now right here Tony Martin can Nick Martin take gift for spot on special teams.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: I love Nick Martin's tape.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, again, showing anticipation, showing spot zone drops and coverage so much violence, awesome on special teams.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love Nick Barton.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford, dude, is one of the best in the NFL.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing what they do now.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Usually you keep five to six linebackers because of special teams, okay?
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Warner won, Drake Greenlaw, too.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Jaden Dugger, three, Luke Gifford, four.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's hard, because you've got Nick Martin, Garrett Wallow, Tatum Betthum.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're not keeping seven.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're not.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, dude, this light, like everybody talking about like trades and whatever else, the lightbacker room is where I'm like, dude, that is where you should trade somebody.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: Tony says linebackers, Warner, Green Law, Dugger, Martin, Wallow, dude, Tatum, Bethoon's awesome.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: And you gotta keep Gifford.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's a proble, special teamer.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're not cutting him.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: You got to trade somebody.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Trade Tatum bathroom, man.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Trade Garret Wallo.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: I had Nick Barton, maybe like those three.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: Trade Bethoon Wallo or Nick Barton.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to trade Nick Barton.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: I want to keep him.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: But you can't keep seven.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can't.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's the strength of the team.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't even talked about Larry worth the third.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Who's been great.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Chalent Graham.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's been on the practice squad forever.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, how do you keep seven backers with this roster?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the biggest difference.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest difference in the $40, 20, 25 versus 20, 26 is just the depth that certain positions.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: This linebacker room is stacked.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallo, Tate on Bethroom, they were starters.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford were starters.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now we're talking about trading, cutting those guys.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: That is frustrating.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: That is it that like you start talking about like the wide receivers that you're going to keep or not keep and it's like dude.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not keeping I'm not keeping Jordan walkins over Luke Gifford like ever like you don't do that.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not keeping Jordan walkins over Nick Martin.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not doing that or Tane on Petton.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how they navigate.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: Oh
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: that's got to be the hardest time ever in that 53 man room.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: And just try to go through it say, yeah, we're cutting this.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're not cutting that it been or nine days away.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: And we're eight days away from our zoom hangout where we do this every single year.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: where we get together and we talk and we come up with our 53 man roster day before the actual cut down.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: So join us Saturday.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: August 29th at 2 p.m. Pacific time.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're having a zoom hang out.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Go side up the 49ers rush.com.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Get your, you like, man, we have seven day free trial.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Come join us.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's an absolute blast.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: We need to hear from you.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be fun.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Tony.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's going to be a blast.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: The 40 Irish Rush.com or a Patreon channel.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Check it out.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Check it out.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Check it out.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: And man, we're going to do the best we can to try to predict it with the brain trust.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's always fun.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you're not getting ready to get for it.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right here Bobby wore Hodges at wide receiver five or six.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: I like his game.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: He does some things that the Niners don't have that true possession underneath guy.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: Hodges does that like he does the tough dirty yards all that stuff.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think he's moved up past guys like Pauline Wesley Grimes Trent and Irwin.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see him making this roster, but he has look good.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: He has looked good.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: I do agree with that.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome point there, Bobby.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Big tall back at it again.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for the super chat man and support.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: Martin is good when there's an open lane.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: He looks allergic to TFL's thinking we're over crediting Martin.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the second year next step get off the blocks?
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's looked way more consistent.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I remember him giving up like a 60 yard run in the preseason last year, just because he went to the wrong way.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's taking a huge step.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: Special teams have been awesome.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: Past drops pretty damn good.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: You look at you play 33 snaps.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he had a 42 grade tackling.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's an issue, but dude, the upside is there.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: You see it, you see it.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not there all the time.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's not there all the time.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite thing about Nick Martin
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: The misdesignments have a bit now getting in there and missing a tackle but tripping up the running back like I don't count that as a negative too much if you're in the backfield, yeah, you want to finish the play, but I think that he has taken a solid step up.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: Is he a lock to start?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, in today's NFL, count, chip to what's up, man?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: The legend.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: Martin is too small to get TFL's.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: I disagree with that.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's just he plays explosive and he shoots a he's a rhino got a kind of curtail that just a little bit, but man do the violence that Nick Martin hits with it just it's different.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: You got to figure that out.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: You got to figure that in my favorite trade.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe in the Kyle Shanahan era and there are some good ones you can talk about, you know, getting Lincoln Tomless in a proble, guard for pennies on the dollar.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Trent Williams is a Hall of Famer for a third and a fifth rounder.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe one of my trading away that horrible contract you gave Quanalexanders to the Saints.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: That was huge.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite trade.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: That Kyle Shanahan
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: pairing.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a six round pick and Dakota Watson.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: You guys remember to Dakota Watson.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: You pack into six rounder and Dakota Watson.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: You send it to the Broncos for a fifth rounder.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love those type moves.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know what that fifth rounder became became Drake Greenlaw.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: like package some of these guys.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we're going to, we're going to give you Tatum Bethoon and a six rounder for a fifth next year.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right, like we got to make, we got to make some room.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to trade Tatum Bethoon because I like the veteran debt, but somebody got to go, you're not trading Jayden Doug or you're not trading Warner and not trading Green Law, you're not trading Luke Gifford, Pro Bowl Special Team or you're not doing that.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking Nick Martin,
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: can Garrett Wallow draw like the highest values Nick Martin, the most pro-ready, take on Bethoon, the most versatile Garrett Wallow, right?
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: You fight somebody that wants one of those players.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, man, you fight somebody.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: Dang man.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: I like this.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I need dug her to move in a friend's house.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: Just break it down film.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: How do you eat?
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: How do you like go through everything?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Figure it out.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right there.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's you if you can only have one of Martin or Bethton Martin has the higher ceiling by far.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, once a third round pick.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: One was I think it's six rounder.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a seventh rounder, say them, Bethton.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Martin has the higher ceiling.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the better player right now?
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: Tate on Bethton.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the better special teamer, Nick Martin?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who has the higher upside, Nick Martin?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, for me, Nick Martin does.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: If I can only have one, I'm keeping Nick Martin.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that he's getting all these reps. Now he just hurt his hamstring, right?
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're gonna have to see how bad that is.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: But he's gotten a lot of snaps.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, somebody that hasn't played a lot of football, he played 33 snaps in his hamstring went.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: So how serious is that?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's gonna factor into the equation.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, you just put them on NFI or not NFI but IR for the rest of the year and just say, you know what, we're going to sandbag and just dude, your season's over.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, you got hurt.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: Season's over, Nick Martin.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to roll you into next year.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: And when Drake Greenlaw walks out the door, because he plays so well and has a pro bowl year and gets paid to go elsewhere again.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin, Jayden Dougher.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are fighting for those will snaps maybe.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, Sonia, do you think the defensive line was good?
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: Or is the charges off in the line just terrible with the lack of run yards for the chart?
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers controlled the line of scrimmage on that side.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: Samo was awesome.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: The undrafted defensive tackle was awesome.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: Also was awesome.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Quentin Bell was awesome.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of that has to do with your defensive coordinator setting up and putting your players into position of advantage with the slants
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: the overload blitzes, the 4300 over the five man fronts, all those things like you're putting them in a spot.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the charges off its lines, not great.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: And they had some rookies out there playing, but Niners dominate the Niners D line dominated that game.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: Got to give them credit to the DC and the D line.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: They played great.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: They controlled the line of
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not a lot of pressures.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nine total pressures, one quarterback hit two sacks, but like control the line of subscribers, they could do anything.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: They couldn't do anything.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: You look at just their rushing numbers, 68 rush yards on 20 attempts.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: They average 3.4 yards per carry.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you want.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you want.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, right here got to keep wallow.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: He has natural instinct special teams plays all three linebacker spots.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: The hero defensively of that playoff when it gets on the road.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, he just looks at man.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: He looks it.
