Latest / Connor with Honor: AI, Real Estate and Real Life / AEO: Why AI Overviews Are Killing Clicks, and How Santa Clarita Businesses Can Become the #1 Answer (Not Just the #1 Rank)
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: So back in the uh late 90s, early 2000s, of course, the big push was how to get ranked online for different keywords.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: If you ran a real estate business or real estate company, one of the questions you would want to have answers is how can I get my real estate website ranking higher on sites like Google?
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: And in fact, for a very long time, Google really was seemingly the only game in town.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Now, you could be uh over on Microsoft, Internet Explorer if you were using those search engines over there.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: They also had their game, but it just wasn't nearly as fast.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: It didn't take off as big as Google.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Well, today, Microsoft has their AI system copilot.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Google has theirs, which is Gemini.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And both of these systems are really wonderful in the way that they've changed in the way they give results.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Now, both of them still have sponsored ad placement.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And you remember that if you've been in business any amount of time back in the uh early 2000s, all the way through, I mean, just so much money to be able to have your business placed on these systems and the sponsored results.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Back when we first started, the whole trick was to try to get above the fold.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: And that means like referencing a newspaper.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: If you have a newspaper folded in half and you pick it up from the newspaper stand, usually above the fold would be what's appearing on the paper till you expand the newspaper and open it up.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Above the fold would be being in that top portion of the newspaper where the headline happens to be.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Same thing with real estate search or any kind of other internet search.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Sorry, still tied to real estate in the brain.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So basically, when you are on a search engine result page, S C R P, you will then be above the fold, meaning you're going to be where people first see.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Now, for people go to go or scroll down to page two or page three.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And now I think you can just do unlimited scrolling depending on what kind of browser you're using.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So it just keeps going on and on and on.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: But at one time you had to go to page two by clicking page two, page three, or the arrows that moved you forward.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: If you wanted to hide a dead body back in the day, you would say, well, you would want to hide that on uh just not on page one.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: You want to get that dead body on page two so nobody would find it.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Well, things have changed a lot.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: In fact, we're watching as people are really not Googling anything anymore.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: They're using whichever large language model they've come become comfortable with, and they're using that to search for things, products, real estate, whatever it may be.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And then within these different large language models, they have agreements with particular vendors and companies.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: For example, if you're looking for real estate, uh open open AI's Chat GPT, they have an agreement with Zillow.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So they're gonna be producing those types of results.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Zillow's a syndication site, it's been put out there to monetize your personal and private information.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It's data driven.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Maybe part of their agreement would be sharing some of your data with OpenAI.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's why they're allowing Google to get, or excuse me, Zillow to get into their platform because they're gonna be, well, kind of giving them a handshake behind the door agreement saying, hey, listen, you can have all of our AI because that's or all of our data from people looking for real estate because that's super important for us, because that establishes search habits, and then we can utilize that when we start to do more than just monetizing our platform in a membership type way.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Once they establish it and start having each of those results uh having to be paid for for placement within their open AI engine when people are searching for their various things, wanting to book trips, looking for flights, and these sorts of things.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Once they get that dialed in, then the money's just going to be hand over fist, just remarkable that they're gonna be bringing in.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: But if you remember, maybe you don't, but the Google's original intention by Brim and this other cat was to build this system so it gave the best search results.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: There for a while at the very beginning, as they were getting their C-LAIDs and building out the right algorithms to be able to protect people from being spammed to death or have people try to get their websites to score higher by keyword stuffing, which was definitely what was considered back then a black hat strategy with regard to search engine optimization.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And that's a cowboy reference.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Usually the cowboy in the movies with the white hat, they're the good cowboy, the one that's on the right of good justice and everything.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: The people with the black hats, they're more of the villain type cowboy.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: They stand for bad things and all of those.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So you have black hat strategies, black hat SEO or search engine optimization strategies.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: That was just the way people tried to game the search engines back in the day.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Now there's very little gaming anymore.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Um people can make, you know, tons of sites, tons of systems out there and get those links, but those the AI engines and even the SEO engines, they're all very understanding of the best ways to uh try to create content out of nothing and using those black hat strategies, they typically derank a lot of those sites that try to do it, just like Yelp has certain requirements, as far as you never have anybody, you never ask anybody to leave you a Yelp review.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And if you publicize that you're asking people to give you a Yelp review, it creates bad, uh, bad intel with regard to Yelp and your brand.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So you never want to do that.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking for reputation management or somebody to manage your reviews, you want to make sure they understand that.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: They also understand gating is also against the rules, which happens to be with that solicitation of content or only just trying to let in those that give you those highest results instead of those that are going to be reviewing you differently.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: And again, that's not it's against the rules, also.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: So if you're gonna be hiring people using AI strategies to be able to make your business appear higher in these different realms, then just be wary.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: We have those systems and offerings in place as well.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: And here's the selfish plug for Santa Clarita Artificial Intelligence.com.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: You can also check out the blog there.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: And it's not so much dependent, but as you will find out for your business, the more niche you start to get, the more QA you start to get, the more conversational you become in the social media posts and the content that you publish, the better off you're going to be ranking in these different AI engines.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: And there's certain ways, and I did a blog post on this, and that'll be up if you by the time you watch this video at Santa Clarita Artificial Intelligence dot com forward slash blog.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: You'll find the article there.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Basically, when you're entering information into a blog post, there's kind of the best way to structure it.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: So the search engines, the see, still there, the artificial intelligence engines or the AEO, the answer engine optimized text should be, so it picks it up readily and then starts to provide your business as the result of particular people's search queries.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Now, whenever people are searching, before we had limited amounts of search history, search habits, the way that people search, the things they look for, the time they spend online, the interaction, their social media platforms.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: We had some of that data being pulled and probably more than a lot of people would admit, because those searches, if I did one on my computer, it's going to reflect differently than somebody else doing it on their computer.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: But now with AI, if you're plugged into that model and it you're using maybe even its own browser, you're going to see those results are going to be totally different than something I would potentially pull up asking the same question.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: It's going to be feeding everybody specifically.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: And if you look at the way social media has been set up with AI, the stuff that you're getting in your feed is absolutely 100%.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, you'll be there for hours without accomplishing anything in the real world because of the way that they use AI to structure the content that it's feeding specifically for you.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: And I guess we could kind of feel special because now we're getting information and content that's just for me, just what Connor wants to see.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And now I'm seeing all of it, and maybe I should be flattered that they care so much.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But at the end of the day, they really don't want to make Connor a better person or increase Connor's longevity or help Connor be better in the world.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: They just want to keep Connor distracted so Connor buys more stuff.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And that's the same with you.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: They want you to be more distracted so you buy more stuff.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: If you have a business, you probably would like people to hire your service or to buy more of your stuff.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So that's the reason why I'm putting this particular video together.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: So when you're putting together content, you want to make it so there's more references to your business, almost an uncomfortable amount.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: I know that when we were working on SEO back in the day, when we were building out real estate channels and other business websites, we would find out that if you did too much of that self-promotion within a particular blog article or post or even a social media update, it was frowned on by the algorithms that were in place by these different search engines.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: And I know bringing up Lycos and Yahoo and AOL search, and then Google search came along and really just grabbed the entire industry and ran away with it and left just dust in front of all the rest of them.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Now we're watching that's going to change as well.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know if it's going to be Gemini that's going to pull it up.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Google has a lot of data.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: It seems like a lot of the main uh advertisers out there and these other people that that do these uh CRMs and this different data mining for clients and set them up with their particular business structures, write content for them and these sorts of things.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: They're leaning more towards open AI by uh or ChatGPT by open AI, actually being the winner of everything.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: But we're dealing with a smarter-than-everything intelligence, a smarter-than-us intelligence, and it's really going to be difficult to see where that goes.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: It might even be somebody that nobody expects.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: And then what does that win actually look like?
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: That win would basically be when these systems get to AGI, artificial general intelligence, basically better than every human being in every specific task imaginable.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: And then from that point to artificial superintelligence, again, we still can't see what that means for the world either, because, well, it's smarter than us.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: It's like a minor dimensionally trapped creature not being able to understand the dimensions of other beings or creatures in dimensions higher than them.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: A one-dimensional creature can't really do very well at conceptualizing a two-dimensional creature.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And a two-dimensional creature has a difficult time, if not an impossibility, trying to figure out a three-dimensional creature.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: And from us being in three dimensions, and if you strap time onto that, four, for us to see beyond that, they have models that you can look at, but they just look like funny looking squares to me.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: But people maybe are gifted and can really wrap their mind around that concept.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: It's the same with us as human beings, trying to imagine what the results are of an entity that's smarter than us, smarter than us in all areas, that isn't biological, doesn't have that same, we have a soul created by God set.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: And you might not, but that's a majority of people believe that there's this higher power out there that maybe was responsible at least for the Big Bang, if in fact that's what happened.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: And then moving through, there's been names assigned to this greater than us intelligence or power.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: That's God in a lot of realms.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: But now, as people have talked about, is there going to be God in the machine?
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Is there going to be something that's now smarter than all of us in all realms that people are going to start praying to and worshiping to?
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: And yeah, that's probably too late already because it seems like there's something called robotheism, and there's that.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: So we are probably going to go down that realm, and then other people fall back, and they do a lot of consciousness explanations stating that, you know, we're a particular level of consciousness.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: You look at the animal kingdom, what animals are conscious?
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: I've heard frogs pretty much, and then everything below a frog wouldn't be, everything above a frog.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is all conjecture.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: But we as human beings have a very unique ability.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: We can sit down and think, you know, three weeks from now, I want to do this, or three years from now, I want to be like this, or I got some weight to lose.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: So next year I want to have this much weight off and look this way.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: We can fantasize about the future.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I can very much seeing being in a rocket ship strapped and taking me somewhere else.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: I can see that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: I can imagine that.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: I can fantasize about that.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: That's part of our consciousness.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: I can fantasize about what I believe to be my particular religion and my God and what's going to happen to me after I croak and check out.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: What's that going to look like?
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: I can also fantasize about me living for eons of time, thousands and thousands of years, because of the advancement and the AI systems that are putting in place or having been put in place, and maybe them changing the disease thing so we don't have disease anymore.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: All of our cells continue to improve and we don't age.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Maybe they solve that riddle.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Now, if they had the technology, would they?
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: What would it cost?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Would everybody get it, or just special people get it?
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: We're still running for towards this capitalist ideal, making as much money as possible.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: And then now we have other questions.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: And I hate to even go on this tangent, but it just seems like everybody's talking about job displacement.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: And then are people going to be retrained for other jobs?
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe, but probably not anywhere close to the amount of displacement it's going to create.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: And then are there going to be rules be put in place by particular governments stating, listen, I understand you want to you want to build an AI, but it's going to cost you to do that just as much as it would cost you to keep an employee.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: So wouldn't you rather just have that employee strap a hundred IQ points to their brain and use AI in the advancement of your business and their position?
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot to be thought about.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: I've been crawling down this hole for a while.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: When you're ready, reach out, Santa Clarita Artificial Intelligence.com.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: This should give you at least an idea of not that you care, but where my mind is currently.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: And if I had a dollar for every time everybody asks me where AI is going to be next year, I would probably have about five bucks.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Be well with that.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor with honor.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: We'll see you in the next one.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Thanks for watching.
