- 3:06Speaker 5: Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Good morning, Good morning, good morning. How are we doing today?
- 3:09Speaker 3: How I'm doing fine? Give us your bio. Thirty seven,
- 3:12Speaker 3: born and raised in Charleston. Has been fighting literally since
- 3:15Speaker 3: we got a playground at the Boys and Girls Club
- 3:17Speaker 3: on the West Side. I mean, I got three hundred
- 3:20Speaker 3: guns turned in just to champion for Charleston, have been
- 3:23Speaker 3: West Side together. I mean, there's so many things to
- 3:26Speaker 3: list in a couple of seconds, and I'm just.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I'm not timing you so you can listen to anything
- 3:31Speaker 5: you want.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Man, Just a champion for change, the champion for our city,
- 3:34Speaker 3: trying to bring Charleston back to what it's supposed to be,
- 3:36Speaker 3: the capital city. I fight for the children, I fight
- 3:38Speaker 3: for the elders, I fight for everybody who doesn't have
- 3:41Speaker 3: a voice in for those who do.
- 3:43Speaker 6: So.
- 3:43Speaker 5: When you say the city needs to be brought back
- 3:46Speaker 5: to what it was, what do you mean by that?
- 3:48Speaker 3: We're down population almost twenty thousand people, and it doesn't
- 3:53Speaker 3: feel like the capital city. There's nothing to pull you
- 3:55Speaker 3: off of the interstate. Back in the day, our mall,
- 3:57Speaker 3: our civic center, our municipal the events that we were
- 4:01Speaker 3: putting on used to pull people into Charleston. It wasn't
- 4:04Speaker 3: just people wanted to live here. They wanted to be here,
- 4:06Speaker 3: they wanted to visit here. That no longers happened. We
- 4:08Speaker 3: see that, you know, Kenna County school boards just having
- 4:11Speaker 3: to fire teachers because we have such a drop in population.
- 4:15Speaker 3: People say, that's not the mayor's job. Actually it is.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Anything that affects your life in this city is my job.
- 4:21Speaker 3: So we should be advocating and figuring out ways to
- 4:23Speaker 3: bring in more population. One of my plans is to
- 4:25Speaker 3: try to bring in ten thousand people within the first
- 4:27Speaker 3: three years that I get in an office, and I'll
- 4:29Speaker 3: be working with the county commissions and county commissioners and
- 4:31Speaker 3: other cities to make Charleston boom. There's no reason that
- 4:34Speaker 3: they spent one hundred million dollars in South Tarston on
- 4:36Speaker 3: one road and we're driving around in the capital city
- 4:39Speaker 3: on potholes.
- 4:41Speaker 5: That's pretty ambitious.
- 4:42Speaker 7: Though.
- 4:42Speaker 5: I mean, there's numbers of people that you want to
- 4:44Speaker 5: get into Charleston over the next what was the time
- 4:47Speaker 5: frame you said?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Three years? First three years?
- 4:49Speaker 7: First three years?
- 4:50Speaker 5: You want to get that many people? And how do
- 4:51Speaker 5: you plan on going? I know you said you're going
- 4:52Speaker 5: to work with the County Commission, but specifically, how do
- 4:54Speaker 5: you do that?
- 4:55Speaker 3: So we work with the County Commission, we work with
- 4:56Speaker 3: our tourism branch, we work with our legislator, and we
- 4:58Speaker 3: work with our governor. He's invest thing all across West Virginia.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I want those dollars to be invested here in Charleston
- 5:03Speaker 3: and Kanal County. We need to do more housing, and
- 5:06Speaker 3: we need to make sure that we're focusing on things
- 5:08Speaker 3: that make people want to come to Charleston or a
- 5:10Speaker 3: beautiful river city. Our river is polluted. That's terrible. That's
- 5:13Speaker 3: one money maker already off the thing. So once we
- 5:16Speaker 3: clean the river, that brings in people. People love to fish.
- 5:18Speaker 3: If I give you somewhere to fish, I don't care.
- 5:20Speaker 3: If you buy a vacation home here. You're paying your
- 5:21Speaker 3: taxes in this city. And that's what we have to do.
- 5:24Speaker 3: We have to have an open vision to bring people
- 5:26Speaker 3: in businesses in and that's what I plan on doing
- 5:28Speaker 3: and going out and talking and selling Charleston. Charleston is
- 5:32Speaker 3: a wonderful place to be. Come be here, and we're
- 5:36Speaker 3: going to do a couple different things with the tax rates.
- 5:38Speaker 3: The first year that you're here, I don't want to
- 5:39Speaker 3: charge you any taxes because I want to see you
- 5:42Speaker 3: stand on your feet. And then if certain goals aren't
- 5:44Speaker 3: met from year one through three, we're going to try
- 5:47Speaker 3: and work some things out in taxes so that we're
- 5:50Speaker 3: enticing and inviting peak businesses to start here. And then
- 5:54Speaker 3: one thing I want to do is I want to
- 5:55Speaker 3: give a lot of long standing businesses a tax break
- 5:58Speaker 3: to say thank you everything that's going gone from gas.
- 6:02Speaker 3: You just saw the water companies got a huge rate hike.
- 6:04Speaker 3: They say it's going to be six or seven dollars,
- 6:06Speaker 3: but it's gonna turn around to be twelve because you
- 6:07Speaker 3: have a hike and seer too. So you know, it's
- 6:11Speaker 3: just a lot of things that we can do that
- 6:12Speaker 3: we don't do. We like to put our mayor in
- 6:14Speaker 3: our city in a box and say this is the
- 6:15Speaker 3: best that we got. No, no, it's not, we have better.
- 6:18Speaker 5: You got some really big ideas and you're to be
- 6:22Speaker 5: applauded for that. But you, I mean, obviously you realize
- 6:24Speaker 5: you got to work with city council because and Charleston
- 6:26Speaker 5: has an incredibly large city council, you know. So, I
- 6:29Speaker 5: mean it's one thing for any mayor to come out
- 6:31Speaker 5: and say, well, I want to do this, this and this,
- 6:33Speaker 5: but you got to work with the within the confines
- 6:35Speaker 5: of the city council.
- 6:36Speaker 7: How do you plan on doing that?
- 6:38Speaker 3: Once I think they actually sit down and listen and
- 6:40Speaker 3: see the vision that we have for the for the city,
- 6:42Speaker 3: I think they will jump on it immediately. A lot
- 6:46Speaker 3: of the things that are happening in Charleston right now
- 6:48Speaker 3: are simply because I made a mention of it at
- 6:50Speaker 3: city Council. It goes all the way back to when
- 6:53Speaker 3: Opie Smith was taken out of office, to when Tyke
- 6:55Speaker 3: was taken out office. We're now trying to obtain ownership
- 6:58Speaker 3: of the mall. Some of these things you can't say, well,
- 7:02Speaker 3: we've been planning to do that. The mall has been
- 7:03Speaker 3: empty and whole groups owned it for five years. For
- 7:06Speaker 3: five years, you mean for five years you've watched businesses
- 7:10Speaker 3: go and just in the last two you decided to
- 7:12Speaker 3: take ownership back. Now we shouldn't take ownership of them all.
- 7:15Speaker 3: We should hold the whole group accountable. Start a grant program,
- 7:18Speaker 3: get businesses in their small local in big and so.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Once city council sees the expanded work that I've done,
- 7:24Speaker 3: and once they can fully see the vision in the
- 7:28Speaker 3: plan and there's not so much riff raff after the primary,
- 7:32Speaker 3: I think we can come together and create the best
- 7:36Speaker 3: vision for Charleston and really make trust in the capital
- 7:38Speaker 3: city of the state.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Talking again to a Martes Washington, who's a Democratic candidate
- 7:42Speaker 5: for mayor in the City of Charleston. Nine and fourteen
- 7:44Speaker 5: of Dave Island Show on five Edy Line, brought to
- 7:46Speaker 5: you in part by Morgan and Morgan with more than
- 7:48Speaker 5: two twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that when you're injured,
- 7:51Speaker 5: you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm.
- 7:54Speaker 5: There are those Martes that would say, well, things are
- 7:59Speaker 5: going on Charleston. I mean with the ad then opening businesses.
- 8:02Speaker 5: I'm I'm just presenting the other side, with the return
- 8:04Speaker 5: of the regatta and these other things. The things are
- 8:06Speaker 5: going well in Charleston. To that you would say what I.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Would say, Look at the results of what's going on.
- 8:10Speaker 3: We're losing one hundred and forty or one hundred and
- 8:12Speaker 3: forty teachers. Look at what's going on. Our legislator. Our
- 8:16Speaker 3: population is the clinic across the state. So I can
- 8:19Speaker 3: understand why you're saying that, and I can understand that
- 8:22Speaker 3: it does seem like a really good outlook, but it's
- 8:24Speaker 3: not enough. We're the capital city of the state. We
- 8:27Speaker 3: shouldn't begging and bumming for dollars from the County Commission.
- 8:30Speaker 3: We should be leading the way in everything, and we
- 8:33Speaker 3: don't do that often enough. And that's the difference between
- 8:36Speaker 3: me and the current administration is leadership. When people say
- 8:39Speaker 3: no or you can't, I will literally show you the
- 8:41Speaker 3: way that we can and if it's feasible, we can
- 8:43Speaker 3: go that way. But I also take ownership and accountability
- 8:46Speaker 3: for when things don't work out. I mean, when we
- 8:49Speaker 3: got a state of emergency declared on the West Side,
- 8:52Speaker 3: I will never forget reaching out to Richard Lindsay Hollis Lewis,
- 8:56Speaker 3: the Mayor's office, the Governor's office, and the only person
- 9:00Speaker 3: and they said we weren't important enough. Was the people
- 9:02Speaker 3: that were supposed to be fighting for us the most,
- 9:03Speaker 3: the city of Charleston. They said we didn't deserve a
- 9:07Speaker 3: state of emergency. That's crazy that the Governor's office had
- 9:10Speaker 3: to reach out to the city to say, hey, we
- 9:12Speaker 3: want to declare a state of emergency. You need people
- 9:14Speaker 3: that are actually fighting for better for all. That's why
- 9:18Speaker 3: my motto is together, everyone counts, because I'm not going
- 9:20Speaker 3: to leave nobody behind. I'm not saying one of my
- 9:22Speaker 3: ideas are perfect or that I have the perfect plan,
- 9:24Speaker 3: but guess what. I live in Charleston, and I'm among
- 9:26Speaker 3: some of the greatest people in the world, and I
- 9:30Speaker 3: can call on them for just about anything. And I
- 9:32Speaker 3: think that's how we're going to make this city better.
- 9:33Speaker 5: How's the campaign been going so far?
- 9:35Speaker 3: The campaign is going pretty well. It's hard to get
- 9:37Speaker 3: donations when people have a struggle. So I really have
- 9:40Speaker 3: a problem with asking people for money and to donate
- 9:43Speaker 3: solely because I know the struggle. If I'm happening to
- 9:45Speaker 3: help you find a food pantry because I see all
- 9:47Speaker 3: your messages, if I'm happing to help you get clothes
- 9:50Speaker 3: for your kids at school, It's going to be hard
- 9:52Speaker 3: for me to ask you for five dollars. But what
- 9:53Speaker 3: I can do is show up at your door, door knock,
- 9:55Speaker 3: and I can ask for your vote. And that's what
- 9:57Speaker 3: I'm hoping everybody does on May twelf. I hope everybody
- 9:59Speaker 3: comes out and votes tease from mayor because, like I said,
- 10:03Speaker 3: we need new leadership. What we're currently doing is just
- 10:06Speaker 3: it's not it and we got to do better for
- 10:08Speaker 3: our kids. One of my main plans is to make
- 10:10Speaker 3: sure that we're investing in our youth and changing over
- 10:12Speaker 3: our rec centers to team clubs for the kids on
- 10:14Speaker 3: the weekends, because that's one of the biggest complaints that
- 10:17Speaker 3: are here.
- 10:19Speaker 5: You've got quite the social media following. How does that translate?
- 10:25Speaker 5: I mean, I know you use your social media to get.
- 10:27Speaker 7: The word out.
- 10:30Speaker 5: What are you hearing from people on your social media
- 10:32Speaker 5: and how do you plan to continue to utilize your
- 10:33Speaker 5: large following on social media to get your word out.
- 10:35Speaker 3: What I'm hearing is that they feel forgotten and left behind.
- 10:38Speaker 3: But I also hear that people love where we've gotten
- 10:43Speaker 3: and I'm a fan of that too. We are better
- 10:45Speaker 3: than what we would have been eight years ago. Thankfully,
- 10:47Speaker 3: because Amy, there's people like being and Lance, I know
- 10:51Speaker 3: he's a Republican, but they have been really truly working hard.
- 10:54Speaker 3: But at the same sense, people are tired of doing
- 10:57Speaker 3: the bare minimum. They want to see the most in
- 10:59Speaker 3: the way. I use my platform as to where I
- 11:01Speaker 3: show them you can be better going to Kroger's getting
- 11:05Speaker 3: some clearance stuff that gives you extra money to take
- 11:07Speaker 3: care of your kids. You know what I'm saying. We
- 11:08Speaker 3: try to link them up with when they have bill
- 11:10Speaker 3: problems and just different things. Leadership, bringing us all together,
- 11:13Speaker 3: like I said, together, everyone counts in. Hopefully with all
- 11:17Speaker 3: of the things that we're doing on social media, it
- 11:18Speaker 3: translates and it shows people like I don't I'm not
- 11:23Speaker 3: in this for me, I promise you I'm not. I'm
- 11:24Speaker 3: in this because my nieces, my nephew's, you live here.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I want to see us prosper I want to see
- 11:29Speaker 3: you have a whole g league worth of people in here.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I want you to have to build out a bigger
- 11:33Speaker 3: radio station. These are the things that's supposed to happen.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And I also want to see Chick fil A down
- 11:37Speaker 3: at Panera Bread.
- 11:39Speaker 5: That's a big party. The thing is bringing Chick fil A.
- 11:42Speaker 3: In Yeah, because when people come here to our civic center.
- 11:45Speaker 3: We spend one hundred million dollars on that right, they
- 11:48Speaker 3: don't see any food options in front of them, not
- 11:50Speaker 3: a one. Wendy's is across the street and it's behind
- 11:52Speaker 3: Go Far. It is a food option, but it's across
- 11:55Speaker 3: the street behind Go Far. It would be amazing if
- 11:57Speaker 3: them all worked in tandem with the civic center that
- 12:01Speaker 3: we invested one hundred million dollars in. When we have
- 12:03Speaker 3: people here at hotels, they want to shop, they want
- 12:05Speaker 3: to eat. I'm not knocking Capitol Street. People are lazy.
- 12:08Speaker 3: We're free, not even health you know what I'm saying.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Number one in obesity. So there. The math has to
- 12:13Speaker 3: math for certain things. And I just want to show
- 12:16Speaker 3: people there's a better way and we can do this together.
- 12:19Speaker 3: It's not just me, it's together. When I say together,
- 12:21Speaker 3: everyone counts, I literally mean that. That's why you've seen
- 12:24Speaker 3: me at school board meetings. I don't have any children.
- 12:27Speaker 3: That's why you see me at city council advocating for dumpsters.
- 12:30Speaker 3: City picks up my trash, My trash. Guys lovet me.
- 12:32Speaker 3: That's why you see me advocating for police to get
- 12:35Speaker 3: a better high a higher pay wage, because I know
- 12:38Speaker 3: what they do, I know the work that goes into it.
- 12:40Speaker 3: People think I hate police, No, I'm actually a fan.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Both of my grandpas were police officers and my uncle
- 12:44Speaker 3: Buster was an officer in Charston. It's I don't know
- 12:49Speaker 3: how else I can say. We need better and we
- 12:51Speaker 3: are better, and so we just got to demand it
- 12:54Speaker 3: and hopefully, hopefully come a on primary day, I'll be
- 12:58Speaker 3: crying in the middle of colch Street saying we did
- 13:01Speaker 3: it because it's not about me again, it's about us.
- 13:03Speaker 3: We got to have a better Tarleston for not only
- 13:05Speaker 3: for our generation, but for future generations. It's not the
- 13:08Speaker 3: capital city. Does it feel like the capital c to you,
- 13:11Speaker 3: Dave Well, I mean it does it if you had
- 13:13Speaker 3: to think about it, if you had to think about it.
- 13:15Speaker 7: I'm just giving you your time, man.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, no, I mean that's just that's the thing though.
- 13:19Speaker 3: That's what I want people to I want people to
- 13:21Speaker 3: think that, like, dang, can we do better? Yeah? We can,
- 13:25Speaker 3: and we should. And I would love if the Mayor's
- 13:27Speaker 3: office would just reach out. I mean if I didn't
- 13:29Speaker 3: have to run for office and they would give me
- 13:31Speaker 3: a position to really make Charleston better. That would have
- 13:33Speaker 3: been wonderful the last time we ran, and he said
- 13:35Speaker 3: she would have a conversation that never happened. I understand
- 13:38Speaker 3: people getting their feelings and things like that, but if
- 13:40Speaker 3: we truly want a better Charleston, pull me in. It's
- 13:44Speaker 3: not like I can't make things happen. I worked at
- 13:45Speaker 3: one sixty Driving Academy. I was the number one school
- 13:47Speaker 3: in Parkersburg, West Virginia. When I worked at COAMC, we
- 13:50Speaker 3: changed things everywhere I go. I'm doing things. There's an
- 13:53Speaker 3: investment in West Virginia right now, ten million dollars from Tetenoble.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Guess who did that? Me working at Metro on the boulevard.
- 14:00Speaker 3: You never heard me say anything about it. You didn't ask,
- 14:03Speaker 3: You didn't see me asks for no proclamation for what
- 14:06Speaker 3: it benefits the people in the place that I love,
- 14:09Speaker 3: which is trust. In Myst Virginia.
- 14:10Speaker 5: We had a quick texture somebody just to ask your
- 14:13Speaker 5: opinion about the user fee in Charleston.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I agree with the user fee, but we have to
- 14:18Speaker 3: source and figure out where the money's going. Right now
- 14:20Speaker 3: in the budget it does not show where the money's going.
- 14:22Speaker 3: It shows, but it's not accurate. There's so many places
- 14:25Speaker 3: in the budget that you can hide money and hide things,
- 14:28Speaker 3: And the user fee was originated to make sure that
- 14:31Speaker 3: we were taking care of city infrastructure, our streets, in
- 14:33Speaker 3: our roads, and I feel like that was a good idea.
- 14:37Speaker 3: It's still a good idea because Trusting definitely needs a
- 14:39Speaker 3: little bit more money for our roads. But I feel
- 14:44Speaker 3: like all the user feed money's going to the police,
- 14:46Speaker 3: you know, over time, or to certain pet projects, or
- 14:49Speaker 3: you know, like it could be going to the commission
- 14:51Speaker 3: that's now studying to figure out what to do with
- 14:53Speaker 3: them all instead of just filling them all with people.
- 14:57Speaker 3: You know, like at the end of the day, when
- 15:00Speaker 3: I get to the city and I'm able to actually
- 15:02Speaker 3: look over the real budget because the budget that they
- 15:05Speaker 3: put out is not the real budget. There is there's
- 15:07Speaker 3: lines where you can hide stuff. I don't know if
- 15:09Speaker 3: you've ever looked at today, but it's crazy. Once I
- 15:12Speaker 3: get in there, we'll figure out where that user fee
- 15:14Speaker 3: is going. And I can tell you right now, I
- 15:15Speaker 3: will one hundred percent tell you exactly where it's going
- 15:17Speaker 3: and where I plan on it to go. And where
- 15:19Speaker 3: I plan on it to go is to help demolish
- 15:21Speaker 3: these homes and to get our roads together and to
- 15:23Speaker 3: fix our sidewalks because we want our city to be beautiful.
- 15:27Speaker 3: There's no reason that we've had people get hit by
- 15:29Speaker 3: cars because they can't ride their scooter on the sidewalk.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Personal question. Somebody ask if I want to know if
- 15:37Speaker 5: you still teach zoomba and hip hop class.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yes, we still.
- 15:39Speaker 7: They were so much fun, says the text.
- 15:41Speaker 3: We we definitely still teach hip hop, hip hop fitness.
- 15:44Speaker 3: We teach it at health Right on the West Side,
- 15:45Speaker 3: which I'm so thankful to West Virginia Health Right. They
- 15:48Speaker 3: saw a need during COVID. Asks me a question. We
- 15:51Speaker 3: have a building on the west Side, free gym, free
- 15:54Speaker 3: cooking classes, free personal training, free help, and free resources
- 16:00Speaker 3: over there. I teach on Tuesdays at six and Saturday
- 16:02Speaker 3: mornings at ten am, all free.
- 16:04Speaker 7: All right.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Final thirty. I do this at every candidate. We call
- 16:07Speaker 5: it the final thirty. Not really time though. Why should
- 16:09Speaker 5: someone vote for you for mayor?
- 16:11Speaker 3: You should vote for me for mayor because I'm the
- 16:14Speaker 3: best choice in you being recognized in your everyday life
- 16:19Speaker 3: and feeling like you're important. This race is not about me,
- 16:23Speaker 3: It's about us together together all we all count, and
- 16:26Speaker 3: I want every single person in trusting to feel like
- 16:28Speaker 3: you matter and that you have a voice. That is
- 16:31Speaker 3: why you should vote for me. Currently, we feel left out,
- 16:34Speaker 3: we feel disgruntled. Nobody's worried about our bills, nobody's worried
- 16:38Speaker 3: about if your roof is okay, or your children getting
- 16:40Speaker 3: off safe from the school. I'm already fighting and doing
- 16:43Speaker 3: all of those things absolutely free of charge. So let
- 16:45Speaker 3: me take charge in the mayor's office and really get
- 16:47Speaker 3: our city back to where it needs to be.
- 16:48Speaker 5: And you're available on Facebook. How do they find you

- 19:54Speaker 5: team did reach out. It's Team number four right, yes, Sir,
- 19:58Speaker 5: Melanie Palero and Jeff Priest, and they joined us this
- 20:00Speaker 5: morning the Jerick Construction Studios. Morning, guys, welcome to the show.
- 20:03Speaker 7: Good morning, thanks for having us.
- 20:05Speaker 5: No, let me start with you and then we'll go
- 20:06Speaker 5: to Jeff. What what made you want to do this?
- 20:08Speaker 5: What made you want to go Dancing with the stars?
- 20:11Speaker 11: You know, I've been blessed my entire life having people
- 20:15Speaker 11: that support me, family, friends, and I have a great
- 20:18Speaker 11: safety net, and by being able to raise funds for
- 20:21Speaker 11: the United Way that provides the resources to all the
- 20:24Speaker 11: folks that they serve as their safety net. So what
- 20:27Speaker 11: better way to give back that to community, to counties,
- 20:31Speaker 11: to individuals that I've been blessed to have people give
- 20:34Speaker 11: to me.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Jeff, what means you want to do this?
- 20:37Speaker 6: Uh?
- 20:38Speaker 7: The same?
- 20:39Speaker 5: I mean it's Melody Calton said, you're going to do this,
- 20:42Speaker 5: said the way it works with Melody.
- 20:43Speaker 7: Go ahead, she said, you better do this.
- 20:45Speaker 12: But uh, you know, being able to raise money for
- 20:47Speaker 12: the United Way, and you know, the more money that
- 20:50Speaker 12: we raised as a season and all of our couples,
- 20:53Speaker 12: you know, the more work and good that they can
- 20:55Speaker 12: do into community. So uh, it was yes, I mean
- 21:00Speaker 12: an easy yes. And then when you get to go
- 21:01Speaker 12: dance in front of a thousand people, so you wants
- 21:04Speaker 12: to have a little fun there.
- 21:05Speaker 5: So how are the rehearsals going so far?
- 21:08Speaker 7: Well?
- 21:08Speaker 12: Good, We had one last night, we have another one tomorrow,
- 21:10Speaker 12: so we're getting closer.
- 21:12Speaker 5: So what kind of I mean it explains to the
- 21:14Speaker 5: people that don't know how this works. As far as
- 21:16Speaker 5: the type dancing that goes on here, it's really.
- 21:19Speaker 7: Up to you. It's up to us.
- 21:21Speaker 11: I would think that you know, Originally I thought we
- 21:23Speaker 11: picked music and then go from there, but no, you
- 21:25Speaker 11: pick a theme. So we picked a theme and once
- 21:27Speaker 11: we've nailed that down, then you pick the music that
- 21:29Speaker 11: goes with that theme, and you have three to five
- 21:32Speaker 11: minutes to dance, do some skits, costume changes, whatever you
- 21:36Speaker 11: want to do during that time to get people to
- 21:39Speaker 11: pay to come and watch it.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Dance Now, can you tell us what the theme is now?
- 21:43Speaker 5: Or do you want or do you keep it a secret?
- 21:44Speaker 5: So that's the way it works. Okay, so you don't
- 21:45Speaker 5: know until the night of, Is that right?
- 21:47Speaker 7: I think that's a cool.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Way to do it, because you know, people really don't
- 21:50Speaker 5: know what to expect till you show up exactly right,
- 21:52Speaker 5: all right, and you have a fundraiser come it up.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Because if you go at which I did early this morning,
- 21:59Speaker 5: you go to the night Away of Central West Virginia website.
- 22:03Speaker 5: They have a listing of all of the teams on
- 22:04Speaker 5: there and they're different fundraisers that they do. Because that's
- 22:07Speaker 5: what this thing is all about. You don't just go
- 22:08Speaker 5: out and dance. You gotta raise money. You guys, get
- 22:11Speaker 5: something pretty unique coming up, tell us about them?
- 22:13Speaker 7: Yeah, we next week? Is that we're both golf people.
- 22:16Speaker 12: So next week is the master so we're going to
- 22:18Speaker 12: have a Master's Saturday party at Edgewood Country Club. So
- 22:22Speaker 12: it's going to be a lot of fun from six
- 22:25Speaker 12: to nine. So we'll have different Master's team, food, cocktails,
- 22:28Speaker 12: good time to socialize and hang out with people. And
- 22:31Speaker 12: Melanie can tell you where to get tickets.
- 22:33Speaker 11: Yes, you could do text four masters to for one
- 22:37Speaker 11: four four four. That gives you the opportunity to buy
- 22:40Speaker 11: tickets or be a sponsor. We'd love to have businesses,
- 22:44Speaker 11: individuals sponsor our event. We do you know some great
- 22:47Speaker 11: social media posts, give them recognitions and again all the
- 22:50Speaker 11: money goes to United Way and they provide great services
- 22:54Speaker 11: to so many different counties in central West Virginia that
- 22:58Speaker 11: it's a great opportunity to great way to spend some money.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Was the and I know you haven't actually competed yet,
- 23:05Speaker 5: but just the rehearsals, Melody, was this something that, Okay,
- 23:08Speaker 5: this is harder than I thought. This is exactly what
- 23:11Speaker 5: I thought. Are you are either one of you? Are
- 23:13Speaker 5: you good dancers going in? Or I mean, how has
- 23:15Speaker 5: the whole process been like Melody?
- 23:17Speaker 11: Back in my day, I was a cheerleader, so that
- 23:19Speaker 11: had a little something to do with it. But you know, dancing,
- 23:22Speaker 11: I think is the easiest part. I think the most
- 23:25Speaker 11: difficult part is trying to figure out your your topic,
- 23:27Speaker 11: what your theme is, your songs, and then all the
- 23:32Speaker 11: personalities together. I think dancing is the easiest part. The
- 23:36Speaker 11: challenging part has been coming up both creative ways to
- 23:40Speaker 11: get people to donate money. I mean, you know, you
- 23:42Speaker 11: have to be creative. You've got six couples, they are
- 23:45Speaker 11: all doing a fabulous job raise of money for you
- 23:47Speaker 11: to way, yeah, and so you want to be that
- 23:50Speaker 11: little unique event that somebody goes, oh yeah, I want
- 23:53Speaker 11: to I want to come to that and donate.
- 23:54Speaker 5: So and it's amazing to me, guys, how huge this
- 23:58Speaker 5: thing is. I'm I'm not just talking about months leading
- 24:00Speaker 5: up to it. I'm talking about just that night. I
- 24:02Speaker 5: mean it is one of one of Charleston's premiere events.
- 24:05Speaker 13: Yet.
- 24:05Speaker 12: Yeah, it's amazing. I've been in the past few years
- 24:07Speaker 12: and had some friends in it and the production. I
- 24:11Speaker 12: was telling Margaret this, like the production, the judges, the
- 24:14Speaker 12: whole night is amazing, and I don't know, just we're
- 24:18Speaker 12: just looking forward to being a part of it and
- 24:19Speaker 12: fortunate to be a part of it, and it's very
- 24:21Speaker 12: rewarding that we can do this and raise money.
- 24:23Speaker 5: So yeah, all right now she said that back her words,
- 24:26Speaker 5: not mine, by the way, she said back in the
- 24:28Speaker 5: day that she was a cheerleader. What do you bring
- 24:30Speaker 5: to the table as far as your your dancing skills?
- 24:33Speaker 7: Well, I never won any competitions. I was an athlete
- 24:36Speaker 7: growing up.
- 24:37Speaker 12: You know, thought I could dance, and you thought I
- 24:39Speaker 12: could dance. Coming into this and we get into rehearsals
- 24:42Speaker 12: and I'm like, five six do you try to remember
- 24:44Speaker 12: all these counts and moves?
- 24:45Speaker 7: And I'm like, man, you know it once it's all
- 24:48Speaker 7: put together.
- 24:49Speaker 12: These people that have done it in the past and
- 24:51Speaker 12: now they make it look awesome and great, But like
- 24:53Speaker 12: trying to remember everything and you know, not mess up
- 24:56Speaker 12: as is something that we're working on.
- 24:59Speaker 7: But I don't know. I think we'll get it. I
- 25:01Speaker 7: think we're going to be ready.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I think we're ready.
- 25:03Speaker 11: I think what Jeff is being a little bashful of
- 25:05Speaker 11: what he brings is his easygoing spirit. You want to
- 25:08Speaker 11: try this, sure, why not? And just very go with
- 25:12Speaker 11: the flow and blending. Well, I think that's his his
- 25:16Speaker 11: I get a little nervous, and he's like.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Just relax, you got this.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Yeah, well you survived the Capitol on a regular basis,
- 25:23Speaker 5: so this should be nothing to you, right exactly. You're
- 25:26Speaker 5: seeing all kinds of dance moves and things and the
- 25:29Speaker 5: spins and whatever going on to the Capitol. Now we
- 25:31Speaker 5: then you're a professional with this.
- 25:32Speaker 14: You're exactly right.
- 25:33Speaker 11: There's a lot of creativity going on there.
- 25:35Speaker 7: It's indeed there is.
- 25:37Speaker 5: By the way, I would be remiss because I know
- 25:39Speaker 5: you are a huge Marshall person as am. I you
- 25:41Speaker 5: committed wearing your green today. How about I got text
- 25:43Speaker 5: about it too. How about the Marshall women playing for
- 25:45Speaker 5: an n I T championship now on Saturday afternoon at
- 25:48Speaker 5: the camp.
- 25:49Speaker 11: I know, how wonderful is that? I mean, it's so excited.
- 25:52Speaker 11: I'm beaming, you know, been watching it and cheering it on,
- 25:56Speaker 11: cheering them on. And I'm a Marian County girl, and
- 25:59Speaker 11: we've got a Marian County girl on the team, Meredith Mayer,
- 26:01Speaker 11: and I'm a girl from Logan, and you know, we're
- 26:05Speaker 11: just so excited of what they're doing and what a
- 26:07Speaker 11: fabulous year. And they continue to play and let's fill
- 26:10Speaker 11: the cam.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go.
- 26:11Speaker 5: All right, so and I'll have Margaret on you know,
- 26:15Speaker 5: before the actual event. What does the for people that
- 26:17Speaker 5: have never gone, what does what does the main night?
- 26:21Speaker 5: What does it actually look like? How does it break down?
- 26:24Speaker 11: Well, there's tickets still available, so you could go to
- 26:27Speaker 11: United Way and get tickets. But the reception it opens
- 26:31Speaker 11: at six. Okay, you come in, you can register, find
- 26:34Speaker 11: out where your table are, where you're studying, you have
- 26:36Speaker 11: some refreshments that are available. And then at seven point
- 26:38Speaker 11: thirty is when Margaret gets on stage. Does her welcome
- 26:42Speaker 11: and then the show begins.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it's and like I said, it's become one of
- 26:46Speaker 5: those premiere tho's four or five big events in Charleston
- 26:49Speaker 5: that everybody comes out for because that's for the United
- 26:51Speaker 5: Way of Central West Virginia. Margaret and carrying. Those folks
- 26:53Speaker 5: do a fantastic job over there.
- 26:54Speaker 12: They do.
- 26:55Speaker 11: And then they're like, you know, we continue to go
- 26:57Speaker 11: back to the money. Reraise provides those sources that they
- 27:00Speaker 11: can use all year long, and they are just great
- 27:04Speaker 11: people doing a great service to individuals that need.
- 27:07Speaker 5: It, all right, and remind people how they can vote
- 27:09Speaker 5: for you.
- 27:11Speaker 11: Well, right now we're going to ask you to buy
- 27:13Speaker 11: tickets right now. It's five dollars a vote. But also
- 27:17Speaker 11: if you buy tickets to our event, texts four masters
- 27:20Speaker 11: to for to one four four four and come and
- 27:24Speaker 11: join us on Saturday, April eleventh, and then to get
- 27:28Speaker 11: more details, you can go to the United Way.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Okay, all right, and you guys have got your I
- 27:33Speaker 5: think you mentioned earlier you get your own like Facebook
- 27:35Speaker 5: event page about this because I saw that about your
- 27:37Speaker 5: big event up there and one of the one of
- 27:39Speaker 5: the more beautiful places to have something. And then you
- 27:42Speaker 5: got a little golf on the TV there, so.
- 27:43Speaker 11: Exactly, this is the best two weeks in golf. You've
- 27:47Speaker 11: got this week the Women's Amateur, you got to try the.
- 27:50Speaker 12: Drive tip and pod, and you got the Master's tournament

- 32:25Speaker 5: Party Rentals. A guy in charge, Aaron Wood, he joins
- 32:27Speaker 5: us this morning, and then the Jery Construction Studios. Good morning, sir,
- 32:30Speaker 5: welcome to the show.
- 32:31Speaker 7: Good morning, thanks for having me.
- 32:32Speaker 5: How many years has this been happening.
- 32:34Speaker 7: This is our third year to have the.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Event, Okay, and so tell letus give it the overview
- 32:39Speaker 5: of everything that goes on over there.
- 32:40Speaker 21: All right, Well, we're gonna have this year seventy five
- 32:43Speaker 21: inflatables in and around in the parking lot wherever we
- 32:47Speaker 21: can fit him. Over at Ladyfield, seventy five inflatables for
- 32:49Speaker 21: the kids to come and enjoy and jump on. And
- 32:51Speaker 21: the weather looks great, Oh my gosh, amazing weather forecast
- 32:56Speaker 21: zero present chance of rain eighty three degrees, Sonny. We
- 32:59Speaker 21: could have not asked for a better forecast.
- 33:02Speaker 5: And we don't want to jinx it because we know
- 33:03Speaker 5: how mother nature can be and things could change. But
- 33:06Speaker 5: I'm talking to meteorologists. Brian, he is a little bit
- 33:08Speaker 5: earlier out in the hallway, and he.
- 33:09Speaker 7: Says, we look good.
- 33:10Speaker 5: Some weather, maybe some severe weather Saturday night, but Saturday
- 33:13Speaker 5: during the day it'll be absolutely fantastic.
- 33:15Speaker 21: One are the hours again. We will be there from
- 33:17Speaker 21: twelve to five on Saturday. The cost to get into
- 33:21Speaker 21: twelve dollars per person that includes adults. You can get
- 33:24Speaker 21: tickets online at Quantum Party Rentals dot com under our
- 33:27Speaker 21: events page, or you can go to Facebook. We actually
- 33:30Speaker 21: have a Facebook group Easter Extravaganza, and.
- 33:33Speaker 7: The ticket link is under the event section.
- 33:36Speaker 5: What made you guys want to do this? This is
- 33:38Speaker 5: kind of you know your baby, What what made you
- 33:41Speaker 5: guys decide to want to do this?
- 33:43Speaker 21: Well, every year we have to have our inflatables inspected,
- 33:47Speaker 21: So rather than put them up and take them down
- 33:50Speaker 21: one at a time and have the inspector come over
- 33:52Speaker 21: to our warehouse, we thought, why don't we just go
- 33:54Speaker 21: ahead and put them all up at the same time,
- 33:56Speaker 21: and we'll do something special for the city and invite everybody
- 33:59Speaker 21: to come jump. So we did it the first year
- 34:02Speaker 21: and five thousand people showed up. We thought, well, we're
- 34:05Speaker 21: going to do this every year.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Somebody said, do you mean the University of Charleston Field.
- 34:10Speaker 21: For the Yes, University of Charleston.
- 34:13Speaker 7: Ladley Field, whatever you want to call. Everybody knows University.
- 34:15Speaker 21: Of Charleston Field.
- 34:16Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of a pretty good idea.
- 34:18Speaker 7: I didn't. I didn't realize that.
- 34:20Speaker 5: About putting the inflatables up there to be inspected, that's
- 34:23Speaker 5: actually a really good idea in your part.
- 34:25Speaker 21: Yeah. Yeah. And doing an Easter weekend. It allows families
- 34:30Speaker 21: who are in to come over and enjoy a family
- 34:33Speaker 21: friendly event. You know, the Easter Bunny is going to
- 34:35Speaker 21: be there. We're going to have six thousand eggs to
- 34:38Speaker 21: give out at the front gate. You know, some of
- 34:41Speaker 21: the eggs will have candy. Some of the eggs will
- 34:44Speaker 21: have a free indoor party at Quantum Sports Center. You
- 34:48Speaker 21: may have a free inflatable rental from Quantum, Party reunds,
- 34:52Speaker 21: free pizza from Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. But several eggs
- 34:56Speaker 21: actually have cash in them. Okay, you can't go wrong
- 34:58Speaker 21: with cash, No, can't go on cuss. One egg actually
- 35:01Speaker 21: has five hundred dollars in cash it.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Okay, And so it's just random, just you just hand
- 35:05Speaker 5: them out to people when they come in. Totally random, okay.
- 35:08Speaker 5: And it's one of the things I like about this too.
- 35:09Speaker 5: It's a it's a great environment. Our radio stations will
- 35:12Speaker 5: be there, you know, we're there every year. It's a
- 35:14Speaker 5: it's a really great environment. You get the kids, You
- 35:17Speaker 5: get to see the kids come out and have fun,
- 35:18Speaker 5: and the parents have a lot of fun too. And
- 35:20Speaker 5: there's I guess you have concessions, you have things available too, right.
- 35:24Speaker 21: So yep, uh, ladyfield will have their concessions stand open
- 35:27Speaker 21: and we'll have some food trucks, coffee truck, candy uh
- 35:31Speaker 21: vendor who's going to be selling freeze dried candy. Mom
- 35:35Speaker 21: and dad, I would suggest, you know, getting a little
- 35:38Speaker 21: pool cart, put some camping chairs and maybe a blanket
- 35:41Speaker 21: in it. Come claim your spot on the field. We
- 35:44Speaker 21: leave the field open so families can kind of have
- 35:46Speaker 21: home base somewhere on the field.
- 35:48Speaker 5: That makes sense. Well, that way they don't have to,
- 35:50Speaker 5: you know, mom and dad don't have to just you know,
- 35:52Speaker 5: follow them. The ones that are big enough to go
- 35:55Speaker 5: by themselves, they don't have to follow behind them. I
- 35:56Speaker 5: mean basically, I mean they can they can say go play,
- 36:00Speaker 5: We'll be over here, you.
- 36:01Speaker 21: Know exactly, they can relax, enjoy the sunshine. Of course,
- 36:06Speaker 21: Ladleyfield will have the adult beverage section open if any
- 36:10Speaker 21: If mom and dad want to enjoy a nice cold
- 36:11Speaker 21: beverage on the hot day, make sure your kids do
- 36:15Speaker 21: bring socks. Socks are required on the inflatables so you
- 36:17Speaker 21: don't burn your feet up going on those slides. But
- 36:20Speaker 21: it's it's really a great event for the family's it's
- 36:24Speaker 21: so much fun. You know, you're not going to find
- 36:26Speaker 21: this anyplace else in West Virginia. Seventy five inflatables up.
- 36:31Speaker 21: At the same time, you have slides, you have obstacle courses,
- 36:34Speaker 21: combo units, bouncers, eurobungies, rock walls, mechanical bulls. We'll have
- 36:41Speaker 21: our train going the Quantum Express taking rides around the track.
- 36:45Speaker 21: And you know, if mom or Dad wants to get
- 36:47Speaker 21: on the bull, come on, get on the bull, have
- 36:49Speaker 21: some fun. So the mechanical bull or mechanical three mechanical
- 36:53Speaker 21: bulls over there. So it really is fun for the
- 36:56Speaker 21: whole family. They'll be something for every age group.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:00Speaker 21: When you come in the gate. We're going to have
- 37:02Speaker 21: our todd zone available for kids one to six. That
- 37:05Speaker 21: way they don't get trampled on the bigger inflatables. They'll
- 37:07Speaker 21: have an area for the little ones to jump and
- 37:09Speaker 21: have fun. But it really is a family event for Easter.
- 37:15Speaker 5: I want to give you time, Aaron, to talk about
- 37:17Speaker 5: the you know, your businesses, the Quantum family of businesses
- 37:20Speaker 5: that are putting this whole thing on. Because you got
- 37:22Speaker 5: the you know, the inflatables, get the I mean the
- 37:24Speaker 5: other the other center. Talk about those businesses well.
- 37:27Speaker 21: Quantum Party Rentals is the largest inflatable company here in
- 37:30Speaker 21: West Virginia. We have around two hundred inflatables that we
- 37:34Speaker 21: rent out on a yearly basis and we go anywhere
- 37:38Speaker 21: in the state festivals, fairs, weddings, corporate events, backyard parties.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Do you do a lot of weddings.
- 37:45Speaker 13: We do.
- 37:46Speaker 21: We actually have started to pick up some weddings. We
- 37:49Speaker 21: have great, big wedding tents, you know, forty eighty.
- 37:53Speaker 7: That's not what I did.
- 37:54Speaker 5: I wasn't my simple mind wasn't thinking about you know,
- 37:57Speaker 5: the tents. I was thinking about slides and things. But
- 38:00Speaker 5: you can have those two, I guess right, if it's
- 38:02Speaker 5: that kind of wing.
- 38:03Speaker 21: We do have an all white wedding bounce house. Really
- 38:06Speaker 21: we do it is it was a thing that started
- 38:08Speaker 21: over in Europe and the trend has come across the pond,
- 38:12Speaker 21: they say, And we have a white wedding bounce house.
- 38:15Speaker 21: It's more for photo ops, you know, the bride and
- 38:18Speaker 21: grout and get on it and they bounce up in
- 38:19Speaker 21: the air and get some good pictures.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Okay. And the center you have to yep.
- 38:24Speaker 21: Indoor sports centers. We have one a Hurricane one in Charleston.
- 38:27Speaker 21: We do a lot of inflatable birthday parties at our
- 38:30Speaker 21: sports centers. We're pretty much known for that. We do
- 38:34Speaker 21: anywhere from twenty to twenty five parties a weekend. Kids
- 38:37Speaker 21: come in, we have five inflatables. It's more of an
- 38:39Speaker 21: active birthday party. We provide a sports coach to run
- 38:42Speaker 21: organized games for the kids, whether it's dodgeball, kickball, t ball,
- 38:45Speaker 21: flag football, or NRF gun battle. And it's nice because
- 38:48Speaker 21: the parents can actually participate with their kids. We usually
- 38:51Speaker 21: do like parents versus kids dodgeball game, you know, and
- 38:54Speaker 21: the parents get active and get involved, so it's fun
- 38:56Speaker 21: for everyone there.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Indeed, we're talking to Aaron Wood about and what are
- 39:00Speaker 5: the hours again over at the Laateleyfield or the University
- 39:03Speaker 5: of Charleston Field.
- 39:04Speaker 21: University of Charleston, the Ladyfield. We'll be there Saturday this Saturday,
- 39:08Speaker 21: April fourth, from twelve to five. I would suggest going
- 39:11Speaker 21: online and buying tickets, though usually the non ticket holders
- 39:14Speaker 21: the ones that have to buy tickets there. The line
- 39:16Speaker 21: is a thousand people deep, so you can get He's
- 39:19Speaker 21: not exaggerated.
- 39:19Speaker 5: I mean because I've been over there with the stations
- 39:22Speaker 5: the last couple of years.
- 39:23Speaker 7: It's a big old line.
- 39:24Speaker 5: It really really is. If you don't have your tickets
- 39:25Speaker 5: in advance.
- 39:26Speaker 21: Yeah, it goes down the street, wraps around the corner,
- 39:28Speaker 21: it goes around the back side of the stadium. You know,
- 39:30Speaker 21: you need to buy your tickets online. The far right
- 39:32Speaker 21: line for entry is for ticket holders and we just
- 39:35Speaker 21: scan your ticket and you go right in. But you
- 39:38Speaker 21: buy your tickets online at Quantum party Rentals dot com.
- 39:40Speaker 21: Go to our events page. The link is there, or
- 39:42Speaker 21: you can go to our Facebook page Easter Extravaganza and
- 39:46Speaker 21: you can buy tickets online there.
- 39:49Speaker 5: And as I mentioned, our stations are going to be there.
- 39:50Speaker 5: The beat V one hundred and KWS will all be there.
- 39:54Speaker 5: So we're looking forward to Senio over there. Great.
- 39:57Speaker 7: Good to see you guys too.
- 39:58Speaker 5: All right, it's all happening this Saturday, and Brian Hughes
- 40:01Speaker 5: tells me the why. That's going to be fantastic, as
- 40:03Speaker 5: you said earlier to the top of this. So a
- 40:05Speaker 5: great opportunity to get out there for a little sunscreen
- 40:07Speaker 5: on though, because it's gonna be a little it's going
- 40:09Speaker 5: to feel look more like summer on Saturday during the
- 40:11Speaker 5: day than what it's going to feel like spring.
- 40:13Speaker 21: Yes, definitely bring your shunstren. Gonna have to have it.
- 40:16Speaker 21: Eighty three d in sunny. I cannot believe the first
- 40:19Speaker 21: week in April we're going to have this kind of weather.
- 40:21Speaker 7: It's amazing.
- 40:22Speaker 5: All right, sounds good. And Aaron Wood, we'll see you
- 40:24Speaker 5: over there this Saturday. Man, thanks a lot, all right,
- 40:26Speaker 5: Thanks Da. It's fourteen minutes away from Tim. Will take
- 40:28Speaker 5: to break a little bit early. We'll come back after this.

- 40:49Speaker 8: the dirty work to benefit corporate mega stores. Durbin's bill
- 40:52Speaker 8: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
- 40:55Speaker 8: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores

- 43:41Speaker 5: turn it on at the right time and amazing things
- 43:43Speaker 5: can happen. Marshall got the win last night. They played
- 43:45Speaker 5: for the championship. They'll be taking a day. It'll be
- 43:49Speaker 5: at three o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the cam Henderson Center.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Tex said, I thought Trump was going to say, let's
- 43:56Speaker 5: drop a nuke or two like he he does, like
- 43:59Speaker 5: you in nukes, breakup tornadoes. Why not a war? It
- 44:03Speaker 5: says a tankster Texas. David simed to send Canawa County
- 44:06Speaker 5: board members a couple of them packing. They don't care
- 44:11Speaker 5: about public education. Well that's why you have an election day, Texa.
- 44:16Speaker 5: That would be a great event. Talking about the extravagance
- 44:19Speaker 5: are great event to have dogs and cats with the
- 44:20Speaker 5: animal shelter at interact with the kids, possibly new families
- 44:24Speaker 5: in great weather. I will bring it up to Angie
- 44:25Speaker 5: Gillenwater from the GNAAL Charleston Newman Association, who is on
- 44:28Speaker 5: the show. Tomorrow's excellent Idea coming up later today. Metro

- 44:42Speaker 5: series in Morgantown, all free shows and there's pretty good ones.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Fabulous Thunderbirds, one of my favorite groups. They're still out
- 44:49Speaker 5: there and still touring. They're going to be their thirty
- 44:51Speaker 5: eight special, another one of my favorite groups. You're a
- 44:55Speaker 5: kid of the nineties, you'll remember nineteen ninety seven Hanson,
- 45:00Speaker 5: that song It was impossible to escape that song. In
- 45:04Speaker 5: the late nineties, I was playing that song on the
- 45:06Speaker 5: radio a lot more times than I wanted to.
- 45:08Speaker 7: But they're still out there.
- 45:09Speaker 5: The Hanson Brothers are going to be there, contemporary Christian
- 45:12Speaker 5: act switch Foot, and a couple of iconic names from
- 45:16Speaker 5: the rock music world, Ever Clear and Tonic, just to

- 45:20Speaker 5: Ruby Summer Concert Series in Morgantown and all the shows

- 45:25Speaker 5: that event about that. Also, State Senator Jason Barrett will
- 45:27Speaker 5: join us. As I mentioned earlier, big win for the
- 45:29Speaker 5: Marshalls women's basketball team last night. We will get into
- 45:33Speaker 5: that's and also the WU men's team who began play
- 45:37Speaker 5: in Vegas. We'll have Daniel Woods cover that for us.
- 45:40Speaker 5: All that plus Open Line West Virginia METROC News Midday

- 45:55Speaker 5: to introduce you to another political candidate, Nicky Assoff. Welch
- 45:59Speaker 5: is her name. She's running for Charleston City Council as
- 46:02Speaker 5: a Democrat in Ward ten. We'll talk to her and
- 46:05Speaker 5: a little bit more about the upcoming Black and Gold
- 46:07Speaker 5: gala happening soon at West Virginia State. That is all
- 46:10Speaker 5: coming up on tomorrow's show. And also I do want
- 46:12Speaker 5: to mention when it comes to these interviews that I

- 46:29Speaker 5: honest with you, it's you know, a chance for you
- 46:32Speaker 5: to get your worded out to people. Drop me an email.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Dave dot Allen at wvradio dot com, Dave dot Allen
- 46:39Speaker 5: at wvradio dot com, or reach out to me on
- 46:42Speaker 5: social media Facebook. You can reach me at Dave A
- 46:45Speaker 5: seventy on x or also Dave Allen Radio on Thank
- 46:50Speaker 5: you to Dale Cooper, who's set in for me yesterday
- 46:52Speaker 5: as I had to have a medical procedure done in
- 46:54Speaker 5: conjunction with the with the cancers that I have. I'm
- 46:58Speaker 5: gonna paint a picture for you. I'm not gonna go
- 47:00Speaker 5: I'm not gonna paint that deep of a picture, okay,
- 47:02Speaker 5: but I'm gonna tell you what I had done yesterday.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Don't worry. You're not gonna lose your breakfast. You're Mary B.
- 47:08Speaker 5: You'll be fine, all right. But I had to go
- 47:11Speaker 5: in for something yesterday that they call mapping, and basically
- 47:16Speaker 5: it's not on inside, it's on the outside. And they
- 47:19Speaker 5: basically put you through this scan similar to an MRI,
- 47:26Speaker 5: and they put little tattoos on you, not in you,
- 47:30Speaker 5: but on you. And so when I start the treatments,
- 47:34Speaker 5: which will be later this month, I guess they can
- 47:36Speaker 5: more easily identify. But the funny thing to me was
- 47:39Speaker 5: I go in big shout out to the folks at
- 47:41Speaker 5: the c AMC Cancer Center across the bridge here Kenas City.
- 47:45Speaker 7: Just fantastic people to work with.
- 47:46Speaker 5: So I go over there yesterday I had a nine
- 47:48Speaker 5: o'clock appointment, and that's why I had to miss the
- 47:50Speaker 5: show yesterday. I was back though, by you know, back
- 47:52Speaker 5: in the building by ten o'clock yesterday. So I go
- 47:55Speaker 5: over there and they bring me back into the room
- 47:59Speaker 5: and they tell me to remove my pants, keep everything
- 48:04Speaker 5: else on. Pick out this what looks like boxing shorts
- 48:08Speaker 5: or boxing trunks, I should say, but they're actually maybe
- 48:10Speaker 5: of the same material that scrubs are. Put those on,
- 48:12Speaker 5: and then go sit out in the little waiting area
- 48:14Speaker 5: now not the main waiting area of the facility, but
- 48:17Speaker 5: a special waiting area. So sitting there with these you know,
- 48:20Speaker 5: boxing trunks on and shoes and socks, and you know,
- 48:23Speaker 5: I wear my glasses and my wedding band watch and
- 48:26Speaker 5: so on and so forth, it's like the most surreal
- 48:28Speaker 5: moment ever. I mean, just okay, this is.
- 48:31Speaker 7: Where we are now.
- 48:32Speaker 5: I just thought i'd throw it out there because I
- 48:35Speaker 5: thought it was funny. I'm trying to find as much
- 48:37Speaker 5: humor as I can in this whole thing, because it
- 48:39Speaker 5: is it is kind of funny. I did not see
- 48:42Speaker 5: the President's speech last night, way past my bedtime, but
- 48:45Speaker 5: basically selling the war in Iran to the American people.
- 48:48Speaker 5: I'll get into that a little bit more on talk line.
- 48:50Speaker 5: As for me, I am just looking for more ways
- 48:56Speaker 5: to weave in the word bimbo vacation into my daily vocabulary.
- 49:03Speaker 5: I got to give props to Ben Fields of the
- 49:06Speaker 5: Gazett Mail, who is the opinion page writer. I think
- 49:10Speaker 5: he might be the editor. If not, I just made
- 49:12Speaker 5: him the editor. I don't know Ben personally, but Ben,
- 49:15Speaker 5: I'm a fan of your work, and he's got a
- 49:19Speaker 5: very interesting editorial in the Gaset Mail this morning about
- 49:23Speaker 5: this whole thing with Benbofication. Now, if you don't know
- 49:26Speaker 5: what I'm talking about, Christin know, the recently unemployed Christy No,
- 49:32Speaker 5: I guess going through a divorce or separation from her
- 49:34Speaker 5: husband or whatever.
- 49:35Speaker 7: I don't.
- 49:36Speaker 5: I don't know, but word has come that he was
- 49:41Speaker 5: quite fond and I'm gonna keep it a family show, Okay.
- 49:44Speaker 5: I mean I just talked about me taking my pants
- 49:46Speaker 5: off and getting tattooed, all right, so I can, and
- 49:49Speaker 5: I did that semi tastefully. This Bimbofication thing is it's
- 49:55Speaker 5: kind of like cross dressing, but it's not exactly like
- 50:01Speaker 5: cross dressing. It's a little bit different. I wanted to
- 50:03Speaker 5: know more about it. So what I did was I
- 50:07Speaker 5: logged onto the computer under Ryan's name and I googled
- 50:11Speaker 5: it bembofication. So you're probably gonna be getting a call
- 50:14Speaker 5: from I t in for Ashley in HR just so
- 50:16Speaker 5: you know, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna take
- 50:17Speaker 5: a chance of doing that. So I logged in under
- 50:20Speaker 5: Ryan's name and I looked up bimbification. Uh. And it's basically,
- 50:25Speaker 5: like I guess, like sort of like cross dressing. But
- 50:28Speaker 5: the idea is to make it out as outrageous as possible.
- 50:31Speaker 5: And what I mean by that is large and again
- 50:34Speaker 5: keeping it family friendly, larger than normal.
- 50:38Speaker 7: Balloons in the front.
- 50:40Speaker 5: Okay, because the idea is they don't want it, you know,
- 50:45Speaker 5: they don't want like a drag queen or whatever. They
- 50:46Speaker 5: don't want to look pretty. They want to make it
- 50:49Speaker 5: outrageous looking. And that's apparently what her husband was into.
- 50:54Speaker 5: And if you read Benfield's column in the gazet Mail
- 50:59Speaker 5: this morning, I said, great job, Ben. It kind of
- 51:03Speaker 5: breaks it all down. And I think it also goes
- 51:07Speaker 5: to show the hypocrisy of a lot of people. Now,
- 51:11Speaker 5: I am not going to go as far as to say, well,
- 51:13Speaker 5: this is the hypocrisy of the Republican Party. Okay, it's not.
- 51:17Speaker 5: It's the hypocrisy of a couple of people who rallied
- 51:21Speaker 5: frequently against things like this. And to their credit, I
- 51:26Speaker 5: guess her husband, I guess you know, he didn't come
- 51:30Speaker 5: out and say, oh, it's not me, it was Ai
- 51:31Speaker 5: or what. No, he pretty much said it was him.
- 51:33Speaker 5: And look, if that's your thing, that's your thing. Ain't
- 51:35Speaker 5: my job to kink shame you. You know, whateverever you do,
- 51:39Speaker 5: you in the words of the late John lenn whatever
- 51:41Speaker 5: gets you through the night, you know. But when you
- 51:43Speaker 5: have set on a pulpit as many members of the
- 51:47Speaker 5: Republican not all, but as many members of the Republican Party,
- 51:50Speaker 5: and you're preaching family values, and you're preaching about the
- 51:55Speaker 5: perversion of the of the left and the other party,
- 51:59Speaker 5: then well, just to think, you know, pot, have you
- 52:05Speaker 5: met the kettle? A couple of minutes from wrapping it
- 52:08Speaker 5: up a Dave Island Show on five eighty Live, brought
- 52:09Speaker 5: to you can part by your hometown baseball team, the
- 52:12Speaker 5: Charleston dirty Birds. Single game tickets and season tickets are
- 52:15Speaker 5: available too at the website. Also, be sure to get
- 52:16Speaker 5: your tickets for the May fifth WVU Marshall Game, which
- 52:19Speaker 5: we played at Gomart Ballpark. For more, you can visit
- 52:22Speaker 5: Dirtybirds baseball dot com or go to the social media
- 52:27Speaker 5: pages of the Charleston dirty Birds, your hometown baseball team.
- 52:32Speaker 5: I don't know about you, but I'm really excited about
- 52:34Speaker 5: baseball season coming back to Charleston. I really really am.
- 52:37Speaker 5: By the way, my wife just sent me a tex so.
- 52:39Speaker 5: I was talking about all the surreal things that happened
- 52:40Speaker 5: to me at the CAMC Cancer Center yesterday. I forgot
- 52:43Speaker 5: they had a gentleman in the lobby playing piano while
- 52:46Speaker 5: this was going on yesterday. So as if they weren't
- 52:49Speaker 5: weird enough that I'm setting there in these boxing type
- 52:52Speaker 5: shorts and with shoes and socks and the whole deal on,
- 52:54Speaker 5: I got Billy Joel out here.
- 52:56Speaker 7: I'm tickling the ivories.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Too, So I guess, considering the situation I was in,
- 53:02Speaker 5: tickling the ivories was probably the probably the best way
- 53:05Speaker 5: that could have turned out all right. Coming up on
- 53:07Speaker 5: the show tomorrow again, we will spend some time talking
- 53:09Speaker 5: about the Black and Gold Gala at the West Virginia
- 53:11Speaker 5: State Introduce you to another political Candida City Council in
- 53:14Speaker 5: Charleston and Angie Gill and Water with our not me
- 53:16Speaker 5: please put of the week, see you later till they
- 53:17Speaker 5: have fun and love somebody.
- 53:31Speaker 2: WSA W two four three d RFN Charlestown, W two
- 53:34Speaker 2: A three HU Cross Lanes, a WVRC media station. We're
- 53:39Speaker 2: proud to live here too.
- 53:43Speaker 14: From ABC News, I'm Shery Preston. As the markets open
- 53:48Speaker 14: on Wall Street the morning after President Trump's big speech
- 53:50Speaker 14: to the nation, the Dow, S and P and NASDAK
- 53:53Speaker 14: are all sharply lower, and the price of crude oil
- 53:55Speaker 14: is jumped more than ten percent on X this morning,
- 53:58Speaker 14: Gas buddies Patrick Dehan says at the current pace, the
- 54:02Speaker 14: nation's national average for gas could hit four twenty five
- 54:05Speaker 14: to four forty five a gallon in the next two weeks.
- 54:08Speaker 14: ABC Chief White House Correspondent Mary Bruce has more on
- 54:10Speaker 14: the President's address.
- 54:11Speaker 17: His gas prices skyrocket over four dollars a gallon. The
- 54:15Speaker 17: President acknowledging the pain at the pump, but insisting it
- 54:18Speaker 17: will be short lived.
- 54:20Speaker 6: The short term increase has been entirely the result of
- 54:23Speaker 6: the Iranian regime launching deranged terror attacks against commercial oil
- 54:28Speaker 6: tankers and neighboring countries that have nothing to do with
- 54:31Speaker 6: the conflict.
- 54:32Speaker 17: Iron continues to choke off the Strait of Hormuz, but
- 54:35Speaker 17: Trump says it's up to other countries to reopen the
- 54:38Speaker 17: critical waterway.
- 54:39Speaker 14: The President said last night the war would wind down soon,
- 54:42Speaker 14: but Iranian officials aren't admitting defeat yet. ABC's matt Rivers
- 54:46Speaker 14: isn't Doha.
- 54:47Speaker 19: They continue to fire missiles. We saw more missiles targeting Israel.
- 54:50Speaker 19: Just right after the President gave his address. There were
- 54:52Speaker 19: missiles flying around this whole region. We've had two oil
- 54:55Speaker 19: tankers struck in this train of Hormuz just this week alone.
- 54:58Speaker 19: So what we have seen from the begin and what
- 55:00Speaker 19: we continue to see after this address, is a defiant
- 55:02Speaker 19: Iran who show no signs really of wanting this conflict
- 55:05Speaker 19: to end, at least on terms that the United States would.
- 55:08Speaker 16: Like to see.
- 55:08Speaker 14: The UK holding a summit with more than forty countries
- 55:11Speaker 14: about the Strait of Hormuz. British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper
- 55:14Speaker 14: says its closure is holding the global economy hostage. During
- 55:17Speaker 14: a procedural session, the Senate once again passed a bill
- 55:20Speaker 14: to fund the Department of Homeland Secure
