- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, hi, hi, hi jall hi, don y'all everybody like,
- 0:11Speaker 1: how hool listeners, it's cold raining fin wait what? Yes,
- 0:21Speaker 1: it is it is. You're not supposed to have this weather.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It's wrong going on, it's amazing. Oh my god, you
- 0:29Speaker 1: know what. Mammoth is just getting stumped on our two
- 0:34Speaker 1: local ski mountains, Big Bear and Mammoth are are are
- 0:38Speaker 1: covered with with fresh powder that's nice, like cocaine. Yes,
- 0:46Speaker 1: looks like cocaine covered in beautiful, beautiful. I always hear
- 0:49Speaker 1: in the rap songs that they talk about skiing. Is
- 0:52Speaker 1: that what they mean? The powder, the cocaine, the ski
- 0:55Speaker 1: they do? Yes? Really the rappers do coke? Yes? Are
- 0:58Speaker 1: you kidding me? The smoke blunts. I think my wife
- 1:02Speaker 1: and myself are the only people in America that don't
- 1:04Speaker 1: do coke in the world that don't. What Joe, that's
- 1:08Speaker 1: not true, No, Joel, do you do? It's the worst.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Have you ever done it? What I have? But I
- 1:14Speaker 1: have never, never in my life. You're not missing anything.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I know. You know why, because if I did, I'd
- 1:20Speaker 1: be hooked. I have a very addictive personality and I
- 1:23Speaker 1: know this, So things that I try to stay away
- 1:25Speaker 1: from are things like booze because once I got on
- 1:28Speaker 1: a binge, it's crazy crack cocaine uh and and other
- 1:33Speaker 1: forms of cocaine, and I don't want to try them.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't ever want to try them because of my
- 1:40Speaker 1: addictive personality. I'm hooked on weeds so bad. Right now,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure away off the ship. Oh yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I thought you were trying. Were I am trying. I'm
- 1:49Speaker 1: still working on it. I just like it so much.
- 1:52Speaker 1: But also it's freaking you know, it's funk what they say.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The truth is, it is very addictive. Yeah, I agree
- 1:58Speaker 1: with you. You're not the only pot head addict I know.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I know a couple. Well, you don't have to call
- 2:04Speaker 1: me a fucking addict, man. That hurts a little bit. Well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm just saying that I love ganja as well. But
- 2:10Speaker 1: people saying that it's not addictive, is I always thought
- 2:13Speaker 1: a bit silly. Yeah, that is very Sillybably it's something
- 2:16Speaker 1: not physically addictive, but it's definitely mentally addictive, right absolutely.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Just it's like that oral fixation, the feeling of putting
- 2:23Speaker 1: cigarettes to your mouth and all of that stuff. Because
- 2:26Speaker 1: you can eat marijuana, you could totally eat it. But
- 2:29Speaker 1: there's nothing like smoking it. It's also the pandemic is
- 2:33Speaker 1: a little like, oh, I'm so bored. You know, it's
- 2:36Speaker 1: so long too, man, the pandemic. Jeez. Do you find
- 2:43Speaker 1: when you're watching like TV shows and movies and people
- 2:45Speaker 1: are all hanging out in like a bar or doing
- 2:47Speaker 1: like things we can't do anymore, that you're like, oh,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it looks so fun. But just look at Australia. They're
- 2:53Speaker 1: having a blast over there. Really, they got like they've
- 2:57Speaker 1: got like under a thousand cases of COVID, like two
- 3:00Speaker 1: hundred and something cases of COVID over. Yeah, they're doing great.
- 3:04Speaker 1: They're doing great, and they're probably still on lockdown. They're
- 3:07Speaker 1: still taking it very seriously. You know, it's seriously, you
- 3:09Speaker 1: know what I mean, it's still taking very serious. They're like,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go outside. There's a
- 3:14Speaker 1: possibility they probably still have masks on and everything. Right,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm speaking out of turn. Hey I'm
- 3:20Speaker 1: one Australia. Let me know. I want to thank everyone
- 3:23Speaker 1: for all the love I got because my my big
- 3:26Speaker 1: announcement came out that I cheaper by the dozen. So
- 3:31Speaker 1: you guys are swirling in this Huh, welcome to the
- 3:34Speaker 1: swirl baby, laugh to myself, swirl. I was laughing to
- 3:38Speaker 1: myself as I was dialing into this. I was like,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I'm kind of playing Donald like I'm in the relationship.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Interracial relationship with twelve kids. Kenya Barris wrote the script
- 3:50Speaker 1: and it's really really good and I'm just so stoked.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So thank you all for the for the love you
- 3:56Speaker 1: gave me. I saw lots of your comments and a
- 3:59Speaker 1: lot of people were like, oh, is that the thing
- 4:01Speaker 1: that you guys beeped and when when you were talking
- 4:03Speaker 1: about it, And yes, that is indeed the thing. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm really really, really really excited. It's really cool man.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Thank you. Is it just you two right now that
- 4:13Speaker 1: have been cast? All the kids have been cast, okay,
- 4:17Speaker 1: because it's such a process to cast twelve children, as
- 4:21Speaker 1: you can imagine, and they're of different races, and they're
- 4:25Speaker 1: of uh, you know, one of them is handicapped in
- 4:28Speaker 1: a wheelchair, and they wanted to have an actual girl
- 4:31Speaker 1: in a wheelchair and so and of so many different
- 4:34Speaker 1: types of children, of course, and so to do that
- 4:37Speaker 1: they had to do a huge search across the country
- 4:42Speaker 1: and the director has been doing it the entire time
- 4:45Speaker 1: we've been in lockdown, She's been doing it over over video,
- 4:48Speaker 1: over the web. I have a question, Yeah, why is
- 4:51Speaker 1: it cheaper by the dozen? I would think a dozen
- 4:54Speaker 1: it would be expensive. I thought it would be cheaper.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I mean, I guess if you round it out, we
- 4:59Speaker 1: got are you gonna pay less by like a little bit?
- 5:03Speaker 1: By the does it? But if the impression is when
- 5:05Speaker 1: you buy things? But I know, I get it, I
- 5:08Speaker 1: get it. That doesn't But why is it always cheaper
- 5:11Speaker 1: that way? I think the Baker's. I think the Baker's
- 5:14Speaker 1: doesn't it is cheaper than that doesn't though? Right, isn't
- 5:17Speaker 1: the Baker's doesn't cheap? Did you have? It's only one o'clock.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I smoked so much weed today? All right? Who we
- 5:29Speaker 1: got on the show? Who's on the show today? We
- 5:31Speaker 1: have Sarah Chalk today on the show and that's very
- 5:34Speaker 1: exciting because everybody loves Sarah Chalk. And we also have
- 5:38Speaker 1: GT from GT's Kombuche because Joel we wanted to figure
- 5:44Speaker 1: out a way to better explain to people we're always
- 5:46Speaker 1: hyping up Get's kombucha and Donald and I genuinely love it,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but we don't really necessarily explain it that well, so
- 5:53Speaker 1: we thought we would have gt On to explain. First
- 5:55Speaker 1: of all, he's a really interesting guy who made this
- 5:57Speaker 1: ginormous company and is a huge success. He's got a
- 6:01Speaker 1: great story behind it too. It's kind of interesting, just
- 6:05Speaker 1: American businessman story. But also he can explain kombchter better
- 6:10Speaker 1: than weekend is He is he here, Guys, he is here.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Let's invite him in hunt Donald's. Yeah. Absolutely, Ja and gentlemen,
- 6:21Speaker 1: give it up for kombucha. Dude, you're so young. It
- 6:28Speaker 1: really is like I forgot how young you are, and
- 6:31Speaker 1: you've made this ginormous company. I'm just taking in your
- 6:35Speaker 1: your long, your young beautiful face. He's not young. He's
- 6:38Speaker 1: really seventy five. It's that would be a funny thing
- 6:44Speaker 1: if that were true. I'm just gonna tell everyone that
- 6:47Speaker 1: he's really seventy five years old. But he's young and
- 6:49Speaker 1: handsome looking. Yeah, and I bathe in kombucha and that's
- 6:53Speaker 1: the secrets of my ntality. I don't know if you
- 6:55Speaker 1: rub it on your face or something. Man, you look great,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Thank you well, listen, great to see you. It's so
- 7:00Speaker 1: goad to see you. We this is, by the way,
- 7:02Speaker 1: this is Joel and Daniel. Hi, Hey, we want to
- 7:07Speaker 1: have you on man because we're always talking about how
- 7:09Speaker 1: much we love your product, and I think that Donald
- 7:12Speaker 1: and I, other than saying the obvious things, it tastes
- 7:15Speaker 1: awesome and we know it's good for our gut. We
- 7:18Speaker 1: we kind of fall short and we've we've spoken to
- 7:20Speaker 1: you about it, so we thought you could help explain
- 7:22Speaker 1: to our listeners first and foremost, you know, in very
- 7:26Speaker 1: simple terms, because you know, you can get technical about
- 7:29Speaker 1: like gut health and everything. But just like they have
- 7:31Speaker 1: this thing on Reddit called explain it Like I'm five,
- 7:34Speaker 1: so I was thinking you could explain it, like we're
- 7:36Speaker 1: all five. Why Why is kombucha so good for our
- 7:41Speaker 1: for our health? Kambucha is good for your health because again,
- 7:44Speaker 1: as we all know, our stomachs really are the source
- 7:47Speaker 1: of our nutrition and our vitality. But over the course
- 7:50Speaker 1: of our lives they become compromise and we're not really
- 7:53Speaker 1: digesting completely the foods that we eat. Therefore we're not
- 7:56Speaker 1: getting the nourishment. So that's number one. So kambucha kind
- 7:59Speaker 1: of helps restore that balance to allow your digestion to
- 8:01Speaker 1: fully function and do everything it's intended to do. In
- 8:05Speaker 1: addition to that, I mean, we're learning more and more
- 8:07Speaker 1: that our stomachs do more than digest food. There are,
- 8:10Speaker 1: in many ways kind of the second brain, and they're
- 8:12Speaker 1: the center of many things, whether it's our moods, our
- 8:15Speaker 1: energy levels, things that we crave, things of that nature.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And of course ultimately they go hand in hand with
- 8:21Speaker 1: our immune system. So I mean to sum it all
- 8:24Speaker 1: up that that the gut and the stomach and the
- 8:27Speaker 1: digestion is really the center of our wellness. And so
- 8:30Speaker 1: nothing else will get better until we take care of
- 8:32Speaker 1: our digestion. And and okay, so here's my question. Why
- 8:38Speaker 1: does it taste so damn good? I mean, how do
- 8:40Speaker 1: you do that? How do you do that? Because I've
- 8:42Speaker 1: had other I have had other ones, other brands, and
- 8:44Speaker 1: they don't taste as good. And are you the are
- 8:47Speaker 1: you the biggest brand in in in the USA? We're
- 8:51Speaker 1: the actually the biggest brand in the Worldbody, look at you,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and how old are you? But you don't have to
- 8:57Speaker 1: tell me, but you look like you're thirty years old?
- 9:00Speaker 1: And I'm happy to tell you I'm forty three. Well
- 9:03Speaker 1: are you really you look twenty nine? And are you
- 9:06Speaker 1: really forty three. Yeah, nineteen seventy seven. Baby, So wait, wait, wait,
- 9:12Speaker 1: go back, because Donald Donald and I are proud of you.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You get the first You are the first person that
- 9:17Speaker 1: I can say, well, you can't say it's not just
- 9:20Speaker 1: black that don't crack. You got that Paul Rudding you
- 9:25Speaker 1: what are y'all doing it? You're s that's right, that's wait. Wait,
- 9:30Speaker 1: so wait, Dave tell us about how will you tell
- 9:33Speaker 1: us the short version? Because you know, I've heard the
- 9:37Speaker 1: long version and it's fucking extraordinary, but it's probably too
- 9:39Speaker 1: long for this podcast. But will you give everyone just
- 9:41Speaker 1: the bullet points of how you made this company because
- 9:44Speaker 1: I just think you're also just an inspirational story of
- 9:47Speaker 1: creating this thing by yourself and you're the biggest kombucha
- 9:51Speaker 1: company in the world. That's pretty cool. Well, first of all,
- 9:53Speaker 1: thank you for saying that. And so I mean again,
- 9:56Speaker 1: my company kind of started is just this personal passion
- 9:59Speaker 1: and almost as happy accident. You know, I was raised vegetarians,
- 10:02Speaker 1: so I was raised with the importance and understanding of
- 10:04Speaker 1: how food can be your medicine as well as your poison,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and my parents incorporate a lot of unique foods into
- 10:09Speaker 1: the household so in addition to kombucha, it was no
- 10:12Speaker 1: knee chia seed, ali vera, juice, wheat grass, things of
- 10:15Speaker 1: that nature. And so kombucha came into the household when
- 10:18Speaker 1: I was starting to become a teenager and my parents
- 10:21Speaker 1: were making it and drinking it, and they became fanatic
- 10:25Speaker 1: about their consumption to the point where they were drinking
- 10:27Speaker 1: multiple glasses a day, giving it to every friend and
- 10:30Speaker 1: family member that walked into the household. But it wasn't
- 10:32Speaker 1: until kombucha helped my mom with her breast cancer, which
- 10:35Speaker 1: was about two years later, and that was kind of
- 10:37Speaker 1: the moment that we truly understood that not only can
- 10:40Speaker 1: food be your medicine, but it can actually help your
- 10:43Speaker 1: body heal itself. And so I was now around the
- 10:46Speaker 1: age of fifteen. So my mother was my best friend
- 10:49Speaker 1: and is my everything, and so the fact that her
- 10:52Speaker 1: health was on the line and then this pungent tasting
- 10:55Speaker 1: team called kombucha had helped her is really what became
- 10:58Speaker 1: the catalyst for me. You have this desire to share
- 11:01Speaker 1: it with the world. Again, I was too young to
- 11:03Speaker 1: be an entrepreneur or a businessman or anything you know
- 11:07Speaker 1: of that nature, and so I really was just leading
- 11:09Speaker 1: from the heart, as I loved kimbucha, wanted to share it,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and so I didn't. And I went about it in
- 11:15Speaker 1: many ways or just again a personal passion and just
- 11:19Speaker 1: almost like a hobby that I was happy if just
- 11:21Speaker 1: one person liked it. Right, Well, were you like the
- 11:25Speaker 1: lad were you like the lemonade stand? But it was kimbucha?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Was that? Was that? How you really? Exactly? Young? Yeah?
- 11:32Speaker 1: I was like this young little guy sampling an air One,
- 11:35Speaker 1: which was my first store. Of course, air One's like
- 11:38Speaker 1: this phenomenon lately in Los Angeles, like every Yeah, if
- 11:41Speaker 1: you don't live in La air one is like an
- 11:44Speaker 1: even healthier, more beautiful whole foods, right, Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
- 11:49Speaker 1: It's it's a pretty amazing market. And and and you're
- 11:53Speaker 1: really represented there well because you guys always send me
- 11:57Speaker 1: and Donald flavors. And I went into to Air one
- 11:59Speaker 1: and it was like where all, wow, come, we haven't
- 12:01Speaker 1: had all these there's so how many different now? Oh
- 12:05Speaker 1: my god, we have over thirty and you're right, are
- 12:07Speaker 1: one and stores like Krewe. You walk in and it's
- 12:09Speaker 1: like this oasis of kombucha. You have like every single flavor,
- 12:13Speaker 1: every single every kind of size you could your heart
- 12:16Speaker 1: could desire. And that's why naturally I started are one
- 12:19Speaker 1: and so yeah, I mean I was sampling, and I
- 12:21Speaker 1: was really just like, as you said, almost like this
- 12:23Speaker 1: kombucha stand within the store, and I would be there
- 12:26Speaker 1: or my mother would be there virtually every weekend and
- 12:28Speaker 1: we would just sample, sample, sample, talk about it. And
- 12:31Speaker 1: so your point earlier is to be honest, kombucha back then,
- 12:34Speaker 1: at least wasn't something that people really gravitated to purely
- 12:37Speaker 1: from a flavor standpoint, because back then we were programmed differently,
- 12:41Speaker 1: or at least our palate was where it was Snapple,
- 12:44Speaker 1: it was seven Up Coke, Pepsi, Gatorade. I mean, those
- 12:47Speaker 1: were really the iconic brands, especially in the beverage space.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But it's amazing how much sugar we were drinking, you know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: like and not like natural sugar, like bullshit sugar. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: mean I was a big snout. I would drink peach
- 12:59Speaker 1: Snap when I was like in high school and then
- 13:02Speaker 1: we were like it was going out of style, Oh
- 13:04Speaker 1: my god. And and and of course regular coke when
- 13:08Speaker 1: we were kids, my dad would get the two leader
- 13:10Speaker 1: bottle of regular coke and you look back and go
- 13:13Speaker 1: just just man, we were just pounding processed sugar. Oh
- 13:17Speaker 1: my god, you're so right. I mean the two things
- 13:19Speaker 1: that snappled it brilliantly is made from the best stuff
- 13:22Speaker 1: on earth, which is like the world's biggest scam. And
- 13:24Speaker 1: then the second one was the high fud dost corns
- 13:26Speaker 1: are up that I remember me and my friends were like, look,
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's it's corn. So it's a vegetable and it's fruit
- 13:32Speaker 1: dose and that's found in fruit. Like we're good, this
- 13:34Speaker 1: is this is gonna work. And then we all got diabetes.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So no, it's just amazing how how much sugar for
- 13:43Speaker 1: no reason, we were all just pounding. Yeah, it's true.
- 13:47Speaker 1: So I mean that's a great thing. And so that's
- 13:48Speaker 1: why it's your point. Now, kombucha is really more of
- 13:52Speaker 1: a popular thing. Is as I think our palates and
- 13:55Speaker 1: the consumer's behavior has evolved, kombucha is a perfect opportunity
- 13:58Speaker 1: to participate in new kind of palate, which is why
- 14:02Speaker 1: you're seeing more sour foods, more sour drinks. You're seeing
- 14:06Speaker 1: things that have more of an alternative flavor versus like
- 14:09Speaker 1: the just the highly salty or highly sugary stuff that
- 14:12Speaker 1: we used to drink, you know, a decade ago. I
- 14:14Speaker 1: like it because for me, it tastes so different from
- 14:17Speaker 1: everything else that it feels like an afternoon treat, like
- 14:22Speaker 1: it's something I can look forward to having, because it's not.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's just it's I've said this to you before, and
- 14:29Speaker 1: I've said it to the audience before that it almost
- 14:32Speaker 1: feels like you're having a cocktail. I mean, there's no
- 14:34Speaker 1: booze in it, or there's a microscopic amount of boosing it,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but you but you feel like it's the feeling you
- 14:39Speaker 1: have like oh cool, days over, I'm gonna have a beer,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but this you can have. Like at one, it's like,
- 14:44Speaker 1: oh cool, after lunch, I'm gonna have a I'm gonna
- 14:46Speaker 1: treat myself to a kimbucha, you know what I mean.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Has that feeling to me? It definitely feels like sometimes
- 14:50Speaker 1: it also sometimes feels like a substitute instead of a beer.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You can reach for a kimbucha and you feel and
- 14:55Speaker 1: you also you know that when you're drinking it, you're
- 14:58Speaker 1: feeling you're filling your body with probiotics, which is crazy
- 15:03Speaker 1: to really think about. Like when I think probiotics, I'm
- 15:06Speaker 1: thinking I'm gonna hold my nose. I'm gonna get it
- 15:08Speaker 1: down as quick as possible. But with this, it's just
- 15:10Speaker 1: like I feel like, you know, I feel like I'm
- 15:13Speaker 1: having my evening beverage, you know, but I'm also getting
- 15:19Speaker 1: I'm also giving I'm also giving my body the nutrition
- 15:23Speaker 1: it needs, and that's always a great feeling. Yeah, And
- 15:26Speaker 1: that's exactly what we hear actually from our fans, is
- 15:28Speaker 1: that a lot of people say, you know it, when
- 15:29Speaker 1: I drink your kombucha, it feels like a reward. It
- 15:33Speaker 1: feels like a treat. It feels like I'm rewarding myself
- 15:36Speaker 1: or something great and so, but it's completely guilt free
- 15:40Speaker 1: and guiltless. So it's almost like, I mean, there's a
- 15:43Speaker 1: lot of analogies that I could use, you know, working
- 15:45Speaker 1: out to one of them, But this is gonna sound
- 15:47Speaker 1: like a silly wood almost like dancing. Dancing something that
- 15:49Speaker 1: you have fun when you're doing, but it's also a
- 15:51Speaker 1: great workout. So kombucha is kind of like that, where
- 15:54Speaker 1: you enjoy it and it's experiential in that respect, but
- 15:57Speaker 1: it's actually also helping your body. I feel it about
- 15:59Speaker 1: pellets on. Yeah, Donald and I have both Donald and
- 16:03Speaker 1: I have both been spinning and it's like fun. I mean,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I mean, granted it sucks sometimes and you and you're
- 16:08Speaker 1: cursing at the sky, but but you're still like, it's
- 16:11Speaker 1: definitely the most fun form spinning and or or or cycling.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I should say, if you don't have a like, it's
- 16:16Speaker 1: almost it's really fun to me. Now, how do you
- 16:19Speaker 1: feel about how do you feel about celebration with kimbuchts,
- 16:23Speaker 1: like you know, like I once put tequila. Yeah, we
- 16:28Speaker 1: wanted to ask him because this has come up with
- 16:31Speaker 1: Donald and I were like, we a lot, we know
- 16:33Speaker 1: he's a health matter. We allowed to ask him about
- 16:34Speaker 1: putting booze in it because I want to know what
- 16:37Speaker 1: your thoughts as a company are on this, because I
- 16:38Speaker 1: have friends not just Donald's, who loved to mix it
- 16:41Speaker 1: with a little something something, and I want to know
- 16:42Speaker 1: what you thought about that. Well, actually, I'm all for
- 16:45Speaker 1: it because, first of all, as we know, you know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: until recently, mixers were just kind of loaded with sugar
- 16:51Speaker 1: and loaded with preservatives and had really no nutritional value.
- 16:53Speaker 1: So kimbucha is a great replacement for those just on
- 16:56Speaker 1: that alone, But then when you factor in that, yes,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you could argue mixing alcohol with something healthy is somewhat counterintuitive,
- 17:04Speaker 1: but in reality, you're actually reducing the negative impact of
- 17:06Speaker 1: the alcohol, because a lot of people say that not
- 17:08Speaker 1: only do they get a kind of a clearer buzz
- 17:10Speaker 1: when they mix their alcohol with kombucha, but nine out
- 17:13Speaker 1: of ten times, if not ten out of ten times,
- 17:15Speaker 1: they don't get a hangover the next That's what John
- 17:17Speaker 1: what I was saying. My buddy Josh Rayden, he we
- 17:23Speaker 1: went over to his house. Donald, were you there? We
- 17:25Speaker 1: must have been together. I wasn't there. I wasn't there.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I must have. I don't know how you told about.
- 17:29Speaker 1: We went over his house and he's like, my new
- 17:30Speaker 1: things at your house, dude, at your house. Oh, at
- 17:32Speaker 1: my house. He brought it over to my house, but
- 17:34Speaker 1: I first did it. He's like my new thing. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: figured it out. You mix any of the GTS kombucha
- 17:39Speaker 1: flavors with tequila, no hangover. And we were like what
- 17:44Speaker 1: and but that's like his whole jam. That's that's his
- 17:45Speaker 1: drink of choice. It's true. And he's a bachelor. He's
- 17:48Speaker 1: a bachelor. So you go over his house and the
- 17:50Speaker 1: only thing in the fridge is like an array of
- 17:53Speaker 1: GT's kombucha flavors and tequila. He knows how to live. No,
- 18:03Speaker 1: it's funny. I was like nervous, I said it. Donald
- 18:05Speaker 1: was like I was nervous to ask him, like, I
- 18:07Speaker 1: know he's super healthy. Like are we allowed to mix
- 18:09Speaker 1: booze with loose? No? No, listen, you know, let's share
- 18:12Speaker 1: with you my philosophy. First of all, you should never
- 18:14Speaker 1: demonize anything, right, Like, so, whether it's alcohol, whether it's
- 18:18Speaker 1: even sweets or things of that nature. Like, we should
- 18:20Speaker 1: allow our bodies to eat whatever we want them to eat,
- 18:23Speaker 1: but in moderation, because if I think an extreme of
- 18:26Speaker 1: anything is unhealthy. And so, yeah, go ahead, mix your
- 18:29Speaker 1: kombucha with alcohol. I mean again, at least it's a
- 18:32Speaker 1: better choice and a better option, right And and how
- 18:36Speaker 1: are you? Like you must be so successful? Like are you?
- 18:39Speaker 1: Are you wearing gold shoes? Is your mom are oud
- 18:45Speaker 1: of you? Is your mom proud of you after all
- 18:47Speaker 1: of us? Yeah? Yeah, my mom is very proud of me.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But you know what, I really owe it to her.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It's her story, her experience, her love, her light, her
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know, spirituality that helped me do what I do
- 19:00Speaker 1: and navigate it through twenty five years because I have
- 19:02Speaker 1: to be honest. You know, when starting kimbucha twenty five
- 19:04Speaker 1: years ago, it was not easy. I mean, I can't
- 19:06Speaker 1: tell you how many times people would spit it up
- 19:08Speaker 1: in my face or say, no, way, no, how will
- 19:09Speaker 1: this ever be sold in my store? It tastes weird,
- 19:12Speaker 1: looks weird, smells weird. But it was really having the
- 19:14Speaker 1: support of my mother constantly telling me that you're doing
- 19:18Speaker 1: a good thing. You know, it's lonely at the top,
- 19:20Speaker 1: but at least it's not crowded. But the reason why
- 19:22Speaker 1: it's lonely at the top is it's a long, slow
- 19:25Speaker 1: path to success. And you know, imagine being a teenager
- 19:29Speaker 1: not having any friends, not doing the participating the things
- 19:32Speaker 1: that your teenage friends do, and feeling completely alone. You really,
- 19:36Speaker 1: it's almost like what I've always said before is it's
- 19:38Speaker 1: a lot like being, you know, a teenage mom, where
- 19:41Speaker 1: you're just kind of pushed into this adulthood and you
- 19:44Speaker 1: really have to commit to this living thing. In many
- 19:46Speaker 1: ways you have to sacrifice. And so yeah, so it's
- 19:48Speaker 1: been great and I don't take it for granted, and
- 19:50Speaker 1: every day is a blessing in my mind, and the
- 19:53Speaker 1: success they've been able to experience is something I've never
- 19:55Speaker 1: ever ever dreamed of and can and I ride on, wait,
- 20:01Speaker 1: hold on, let's let's just talk about this. Twenty five
- 20:03Speaker 1: years ago you started the company, right, yes, and now
- 20:06Speaker 1: we're coming up on World Kombucha Day. Is this really happening? Yes? Yeah?
- 20:12Speaker 1: What is World Kombucha Day? We wanted to ask you
- 20:14Speaker 1: what that what that is because we want to participate. Yeah, absolutely,
- 20:18Speaker 1: and thank you for asking. So World Kimbuuta Day is
- 20:20Speaker 1: something that we debuted a year ago because kombucha was
- 20:23Speaker 1: first consumed in two twenty one BC, which is a long, long,
- 20:27Speaker 1: long time ago, wait before even I started drinking it.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So we decided to have a World Kombucha Day on
- 20:32Speaker 1: February twenty first, so two twenty one, just like two
- 20:35Speaker 1: twenty one BC. And that kind of the philosophy behind
- 20:38Speaker 1: World Kombucha Day is to really share with the world
- 20:41Speaker 1: people who are relatively new to kombucha. It's history, because
- 20:44Speaker 1: I think a lot of times, especially in this country,
- 20:46Speaker 1: we sometimes overlook history and legacy and lineage when we
- 20:50Speaker 1: just focus on the populary something right here, right now,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and we kind of forget about its soul, forget about
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's you know, it's humble beginnings in its origin. So
- 20:58Speaker 1: World Kombucha Day is really intended to shine a bright
- 21:00Speaker 1: light on that talk about its history, it's tradition of
- 21:03Speaker 1: being consumed, the ritual of making it, and the most
- 21:06Speaker 1: importantly what makes kimbucha special, which it's as a nature
- 21:09Speaker 1: crafted elis or if you will, that's rich with so
- 21:12Speaker 1: many good things that can make us healthy and happy
- 21:15Speaker 1: no matter who you are, where you live. So two
- 21:19Speaker 1: twenty one, because of two twenty one BC two twenty
- 21:21Speaker 1: one is World Cambucha Day, will be celebrating it. Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: we will. All of our factors, real friends, right, fake doctor's,
- 21:30Speaker 1: real friends. We got a date yo, Dave, thank you
- 21:34Speaker 1: so much for coming on. We really appreciate you. And
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know it's it's no bullshit because Donald and I
- 21:40Speaker 1: always say when we have to have the advertisers on
- 21:43Speaker 1: the show, we would so rather it be something we
- 21:45Speaker 1: genuinely love. We try and edit out things that we
- 21:49Speaker 1: don't really believe in or use, and well you'd be
- 21:52Speaker 1: surprised what comes at us. And it's like, yeah, come on, man,
- 21:56Speaker 1: probably gonna say. One thing we've also said no to
- 21:58Speaker 1: is things that we feel are unhealthy for people. We liked.
- 22:00Speaker 1: We like to promote healthy things and so so we're
- 22:04Speaker 1: super stoked that you support the show, and uh, and
- 22:07Speaker 1: we really appreciate you. And i'd also feel like i'd
- 22:09Speaker 1: also kind of feel like a jerk if you know,
- 22:13Speaker 1: you know, we have something it's such a it's such
- 22:16Speaker 1: a healthy product and so good for everyone. I'd feel bad.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Then right after that, I was like, go eating mcdonnald'.
- 22:27Speaker 1: But I mean, I've been watching that. I was. I
- 22:29Speaker 1: was watching them that Jordan documentary about the Bulls of
- 22:33Speaker 1: the Last Dance, which I'm finally watching, and it's so good,
- 22:36Speaker 1: but it's so shameless how these athletes who are in
- 22:38Speaker 1: like the best shape anyone's in, or like be like
- 22:41Speaker 1: sometimes I feel like he is me and they're drinking
- 22:44Speaker 1: gatormane and eating cheeseburgers. It's like, it's like, I know,
- 22:48Speaker 1: get that money, Mike, But come on, you gotta remember
- 22:51Speaker 1: back in the eighties, man, I remember watching tennis players
- 22:54Speaker 1: drink Coca Cola on the on the sidelines of smoke
- 22:57Speaker 1: cigarettes during breaks. Man, were you see those ads, because
- 23:01Speaker 1: they show the ads of like Michael Jordan happily eating
- 23:03Speaker 1: like a gross McDonald's cheeseburger. Yeah, get that money, Yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 1: get that money. I'm grateful to you guys as well,
- 23:11Speaker 1: because I mean, we rarely do advertise and the reason
- 23:13Speaker 1: why we genuinely seek that authentic kind of connectivity that
- 23:17Speaker 1: you guys have shared for us. So from the bottom
- 23:19Speaker 1: my heart, I'm also very grateful. Well, thank you, thank you,
- 23:22Speaker 1: and you're an inspiration. Last question, just because I'm sure
- 23:26Speaker 1: there's a lot of entrepreneurs or young entrepreneurs who dream
- 23:30Speaker 1: of having a success like you've had. What do you
- 23:33Speaker 1: say to people who are just starting out and they're
- 23:35Speaker 1: looking up at the giant mountain of trying to create
- 23:38Speaker 1: a business or a product like do you have any
- 23:41Speaker 1: words of wisdom for them? Oh? Absolutely, And I share
- 23:45Speaker 1: this with anyone who ever reaches out to me for
- 23:47Speaker 1: business advice. I always say, first and foremost, follow your
- 23:51Speaker 1: heart and do what you love the most importantly, do
- 23:54Speaker 1: what makes the world a better place, because I think
- 23:57Speaker 1: sincerely gone are the days where we just create businesses
- 24:00Speaker 1: and products for selfish reasons. I think, you know, even
- 24:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty has told us we all need to work
- 24:05Speaker 1: together to not only heal the planet, but also heal
- 24:08Speaker 1: each other's lives. And so I believe that if you
- 24:12Speaker 1: follow those tips, if you will, that only good things
- 24:15Speaker 1: will come your way and people will genuinely resonate with
- 24:18Speaker 1: what you're trying to offer. That's what we do. We're
- 24:20Speaker 1: just offering laughs and giggles exactly, making people happy. And
- 24:24Speaker 1: that's all we really want, right, Happiness and love, yes,
- 24:27Speaker 1: that's absolutely. And health all we want, and health and health,
- 24:29Speaker 1: hell and health, happiness and love, the pursuit of happiness.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It's in our constitution, dude, it is that's crazy that
- 24:36Speaker 1: they said the pursuit. I know it's in that movie
- 24:38Speaker 1: and everything the movie? Is that the constitution or the
- 24:41Speaker 1: declaration of independence? Daniel, Life, liberty and the pursuit of happening.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I'm calling on you, Daniel. I'm so embarrassed. I think
- 24:51Speaker 1: it might be the declaration of independence. I think you're right.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I think it's okay. We'll check it. We'll check it, Joel, please, Oh,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I am right? All right? Yeah, let me ask my wife.
- 24:59Speaker 1: She'll know, don't apprecie, what happened? Is that that's just independence?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Or is that anything? That's a hard question to answer.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I just wanted seventeen seventy six. She said, whatever she said,
- 25:16Speaker 1: whatever is what's the seven? All right, Dave, thank you
- 25:21Speaker 1: so much for coming on. We appreciate man. I want
- 25:23Speaker 1: to say bye too, all right, say bye. Stop talking
- 25:25Speaker 1: to your wife talking to da. Thank you man, it's
- 25:27Speaker 1: good to see you. Man, it's good to see you.
- 25:29Speaker 1: A good mass. Let me ask you a question. You're
- 25:31Speaker 1: working out like crazy right now? What's going on? Because
- 25:34Speaker 1: I am a we're having conversations on the show. Zach's
- 25:37Speaker 1: a younger man than I am. I have reached that
- 25:39Speaker 1: age where I can't cheat anymore. If I cheat. Guess
- 25:42Speaker 1: what happens. It doesn't go away, It never you know
- 25:45Speaker 1: what I mean? Like if I have a cheat meal,
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'm in deep trouble. So my question is, my question
- 25:50Speaker 1: is are you what what? Other than the kombucha? What
- 25:54Speaker 1: are you doing? This looks so good man, you're looking
- 25:56Speaker 1: you're looking fit. You look he doesn't get high and
- 25:58Speaker 1: eat fried chicken and wad Well, no, actually I do
- 26:01Speaker 1: get high, so you fried waffles. I mean, I'll break
- 26:06Speaker 1: it down if you're really simply. First of all, you know,
- 26:08Speaker 1: I think being plant based as much as possible is huge, right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: But it's not just being plant based, it's making sure
- 26:14Speaker 1: that you're eating a diet that's whole, in a rich
- 26:16Speaker 1: and whole food, So things that aren't in a box,
- 26:18Speaker 1: a can, or a bag, because chances are those are
- 26:21Speaker 1: heavily processed and loaded with stuff that's not good. You know,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I don't believe in cheap days, but as I said earlier,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I do believe in allowing your body to have a
- 26:29Speaker 1: little taste of dessert or a little something just so
- 26:32Speaker 1: you aren't depriving your body of it. But then after
- 26:35Speaker 1: a bite or two, you kind of push the plate away.
- 26:37Speaker 1: And then most importantly, make sure that you break a
- 26:40Speaker 1: sweat every day, right that you just do something, whether
- 26:43Speaker 1: you swim in your pool if you can, or walk
- 26:45Speaker 1: your neighborhood, or go to the gym, or even do
- 26:48Speaker 1: push ups or yoga in your house, because a lot
- 26:51Speaker 1: like brushing your teeth. I think physical fitness is a
- 26:54Speaker 1: daily practice, and when you make it a daily habit,
- 26:57Speaker 1: you never have to make an excuse of why you
- 27:00Speaker 1: to do it or why you couldn't do it. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: so that's what I do, and I work out every day.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And in addition to that, which goes hand in hand
- 27:06Speaker 1: with physical fitness is making sure you get a good
- 27:09Speaker 1: night's rest every night, so I really allow myself eight
- 27:11Speaker 1: hours of sleep no matter what, and that with physical
- 27:13Speaker 1: fitness keeps me in shape. Wow, you look great, man,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and I want to look more like you. I really do.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And I thank you for being on the show man.
- 27:21Speaker 1: You really really really appreciate you. Thank you for having me.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm honored. All thank you for love. All right, take care,
- 27:30Speaker 1: We welcome good bye you too. It's always great to
- 27:34Speaker 1: have him on, man, right, it's always great. We haven't
- 27:38Speaker 1: had him on before. What are you talking about? We've
- 27:41Speaker 1: had it, well, had on zoom. You know what I mean,
- 27:44Speaker 1: what we have when we talk to him on zoom
- 27:47Speaker 1: and stuff. Oh my god, fucking hell, you're so stone
- 27:50Speaker 1: right now, I am right now. You just said it's
- 27:53Speaker 1: always great to have him on. We haven't had him
- 27:54Speaker 1: on before. That's how high. Let me let me try
- 27:59Speaker 1: and let me try and save. Let me hear, Let
- 28:03Speaker 1: me hear it, Let me hear it's from the zooms man,
- 28:05Speaker 1: because we do. Yes, we've we You and I have
- 28:08Speaker 1: privately zoomed him. Yes, that has and that I kind
- 28:11Speaker 1: of confused said, it's always great to have him on
- 28:13Speaker 1: zooms to talk to him. No, all bullshit aside. He
- 28:21Speaker 1: is the inspiration man because not only is he a
- 28:23Speaker 1: super healthy guy, he like created this company when he
- 28:26Speaker 1: was a baby, and uh, he's the biggest, biggest Combucher
- 28:30Speaker 1: brand in the world. What's crazy is that is that
- 28:32Speaker 1: I would never have guessed that he was forty three
- 28:35Speaker 1: years old. That's he doesn't look it. He looks a
- 28:38Speaker 1: lot younger than that. All right, should we should we
- 28:40Speaker 1: go to break and come back with the Sarah Chunk? Sure,
- 28:45Speaker 1: we'll be right back with Sarah Chunk and we're bad. Yes,
- 28:57Speaker 1: game stuff? You want to talk about? Game? Stop? Donald?
- 28:59Speaker 1: Should we talk about what's going on? I don't quite understand.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I understand that I don't understand how the stock is
- 29:05Speaker 1: being driven up? Is it? I've read enough and Daniel
- 29:07Speaker 1: will probably have a better answer, But I've read enough
- 29:10Speaker 1: to let me try. Okay, Joe, Well, Joel also probably
- 29:13Speaker 1: knows a lot. Okay. My guess is my I often
- 29:16Speaker 1: guess which one of you will know more about a
- 29:19Speaker 1: given topic, and I'm usually kind of right. You always go, Daniel, say,
- 29:24Speaker 1: Joel is so knowledgeable. Joel, I go Joelle. I go
- 29:27Speaker 1: for pop culture things because she's a critic and knows
- 29:30Speaker 1: a lot about pop culture. Daniel and I go for politics.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I think he knows a lot about politics, and well
- 29:37Speaker 1: after when his dad did that one time. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 1: go ahead, So let me give my my I'm gonna
- 29:45Speaker 1: give him my my my quickest take on it. Okay,
- 29:48Speaker 1: and Daniel will correct me. You can bet that a
- 29:52Speaker 1: stock will fail because you think that the company is
- 29:56Speaker 1: going to crash. So when all these game companies came
- 29:59Speaker 1: out with their downloading the games and not buying them anymore,
- 30:02Speaker 1: it didn't take a genius to be like game Stop
- 30:05Speaker 1: is doomed. Everyone was even joking about that, like rip
- 30:08Speaker 1: game Stop when all those new consoles came out, and
- 30:12Speaker 1: so the hedge fund and the stock market folks said, oh,
- 30:15Speaker 1: we're gonna short this, meaning we're going to we're gonna
- 30:18Speaker 1: bet that it's going to fail. Okay, it's very intricate
- 30:22Speaker 1: how it all works, but they're basically when you're playing
- 30:25Speaker 1: craps exactly exactly. And what they didn't expect is that
- 30:32Speaker 1: the people this group on Reddit called Wall Street Bets
- 30:35Speaker 1: would say we can do what's called a short squeeze
- 30:39Speaker 1: if we all band together, which means if we start
- 30:43Speaker 1: buying that if enough of us start buying game Stop stock,
- 30:47Speaker 1: it will drive the price up, which is the exact
- 30:50Speaker 1: opposite of what all these people betting against it thought
- 30:52Speaker 1: it was going to do. And what happens is they
- 30:56Speaker 1: have to then to get out, they have to buy
- 30:59Speaker 1: it back, and as they buy it back, it drives
- 31:02Speaker 1: the price up again. So it creates this loop of
- 31:07Speaker 1: the redditors, the people without a lot of money who
- 31:10Speaker 1: were just sort of independent, independent stock purchasers. They their
- 31:15Speaker 1: stock goes crazy and they start making insane money and
- 31:17Speaker 1: they're burying these huge hedge fund companies. How long does
- 31:22Speaker 1: this last? For? How long? That? I don't know, Daniel,
- 31:24Speaker 1: you go, I think so, Zach, that was one hundred
- 31:28Speaker 1: percent correct. Thank you very well. Put I didn't understand
- 31:31Speaker 1: it at all until I read about it. I also
- 31:33Speaker 1: want to preface that I am not a financial expert,
- 31:35Speaker 1: and this is not financial advice. Yes, okay. I think
- 31:38Speaker 1: an important part to add to this conversation is that
- 31:42Speaker 1: and one of my favorite tweets about this is that
- 31:45Speaker 1: this is kind of like Occupy Wall Street, but twice
- 31:48Speaker 1: as stupid, but twice as effective. Yeah. So, because they're
- 31:52Speaker 1: giving the finger to these hedge funds precisely. I mean,
- 31:55Speaker 1: Occupy Wall Street was an opportunity for people to express
- 31:58Speaker 1: their concern with the amount of money at you know,
- 32:00Speaker 1: Wall Street was controlling and how much that was controlling politics,
- 32:03Speaker 1: And this was a way for people to make that
- 32:06Speaker 1: like a headline news story by literally destroying these hedge
- 32:11Speaker 1: funds one at a time. Now, the problem and the answer,
- 32:14Speaker 1: the question of how long is this going to last,
- 32:16Speaker 1: is that companies like robin Hood or the the app
- 32:18Speaker 1: robin Hood, who is allowing this kind of trade, or
- 32:21Speaker 1: is allowing retail investors to trade in such small ways,
- 32:25Speaker 1: has all of a sudden stopped allowing trading on things
- 32:28Speaker 1: like GameStop, AMC, Nokia BlackBerry. I think the pause there, right, Yeah, yes,
- 32:36Speaker 1: they are back on. Sorry, that's right about I'm getting
- 32:39Speaker 1: to all that. So they stopped, and that is what
- 32:42Speaker 1: is basically this whole draw aware. Yeah, this was to
- 32:46Speaker 1: draw awareness to the power of Wall Street over politics,
- 32:52Speaker 1: over trading, over all of that, because this is a
- 32:54Speaker 1: situation where we're saying the little guy has the opportunity
- 32:57Speaker 1: to trade, and rich people are saying, wait, don't do that.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I totally I told yeah, dude, that's where that's where
- 33:04Speaker 1: that's where it gets messed up. It's like, wait, hold on,
- 33:07Speaker 1: we're just doing what you did. I'm lumping myself in
- 33:10Speaker 1: with all the people these games out people, I have
- 33:12Speaker 1: no I have no investment in game staff, just to
- 33:15Speaker 1: be clear. But let's put it this way. I wish
- 33:22Speaker 1: I'd be selling right now. I'd be selling soon. But wait,
- 33:25Speaker 1: that's let me finish. Let me finish question the problem.
- 33:29Speaker 1: The thing that's crazy is that it's like out of nowhere,
- 33:34Speaker 1: all of these people who were working the crap out
- 33:38Speaker 1: of this system are trying to stop the common person
- 33:44Speaker 1: from doing it themselves. And that's that's and that's wrong.
- 33:47Speaker 1: That's that's where the BS comes in. It's like, wait
- 33:49Speaker 1: a second, how can you shut down the site for
- 33:52Speaker 1: one night? And or sorry, how can you restrict for
- 33:55Speaker 1: one night? Do you know not how much money they
- 33:58Speaker 1: blew in one for all of these common people who
- 34:02Speaker 1: don't have the opportunity to invest like this. That was
- 34:06Speaker 1: like what is it? Like millions and billions? They were
- 34:08Speaker 1: allowed They were allowed to sell. I believe they just
- 34:11Speaker 1: weren't allowed to buy more. Correct, But but that is illegal.
- 34:13Speaker 1: It's a nineteen thirty six Act about you know, you're
- 34:15Speaker 1: not allowed to stop trading on the open market at
- 34:18Speaker 1: any point. You are not allowed. That is against the law.
- 34:22Speaker 1: And that's what Robin Hood did effectively, was stop trading
- 34:24Speaker 1: on the open market, and solely because apparently bigger companies
- 34:29Speaker 1: called them and said you gotta stop si we're gonna
- 34:32Speaker 1: go broke or potentially the government right which is which
- 34:35Speaker 1: which would be really fucked up? Well, now that isn't
- 34:38Speaker 1: there an investigation as an investigation, Yeah, the government is
- 34:42Speaker 1: stepping in now. And ultimately what this will probably lead
- 34:44Speaker 1: to a stricter regulations against retail traders, making it harder
- 34:48Speaker 1: for the common man to invest or a common person
- 34:50Speaker 1: rather to invest into the open trading market. Which was
- 34:54Speaker 1: the goal of this in the first place, was to
- 34:56Speaker 1: draw attention once again to the power that the super
- 34:59Speaker 1: wealth you have over what is supposed to be a
- 35:02Speaker 1: global stock market. We're talking about billions of dollars in
- 35:05Speaker 1: wealth just appearing and disappearing because people were deciding to
- 35:08Speaker 1: be like, hey, guys, see what's going on here, the
- 35:10Speaker 1: short squeeze that's happening. Boom, game stop, this is where
- 35:13Speaker 1: it's happening right now. And then the government says whoa, whoa,
- 35:15Speaker 1: whoa you you know you. I don't want to sit
- 35:20Speaker 1: pores you you know, regular folk are they? But that's
- 35:24Speaker 1: what people like. People feel like this. Yeah, it feels
- 35:30Speaker 1: like tat meat cake situation kind of know what feels like?
- 35:36Speaker 1: What's the exit though? Where where my brain? Or at
- 35:39Speaker 1: least what I understand about this ends is how do
- 35:42Speaker 1: they how do how does everyone dismount? So basically the dismount,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I mean the dismount is that a bunch of people
- 35:49Speaker 1: sell their shares and game Stop I mean like this
- 35:50Speaker 1: is not this is not a long haul where all
- 35:52Speaker 1: of a sudden, game Stop is this huge, super profitable company.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Well know, and one of the elephant in the room
- 35:58Speaker 1: is the game Stop is not worth three hundreds of
- 36:00Speaker 1: dollars a share, No, not at all. Not So so
- 36:02Speaker 1: what happens now this stop? What we hope for is
- 36:05Speaker 1: more transparency. You know what I'm saying, How did these
- 36:08Speaker 1: people get out? They just sell them and somebody's gonna
- 36:11Speaker 1: be stuck with that bill, somebody's gonna be stuck with
- 36:12Speaker 1: at someone's gonna get stuck with the bag. And that's
- 36:15Speaker 1: the problem. That's the that's the problem. Basically, Wall Street
- 36:18Speaker 1: bets is at the start was meant to be like
- 36:21Speaker 1: stupid ass stock calls, Wall street bets is not a
- 36:24Speaker 1: place to give legitimate financial advice. And despite the fact
- 36:27Speaker 1: that during this time it has evolved kind of into
- 36:31Speaker 1: that where it's more about like, here's how you can
- 36:33Speaker 1: help take thet. Bets is for people who may not
- 36:37Speaker 1: know Zac was saying that at the beginning. But Wall
- 36:39Speaker 1: street bets is a subreddit, yeah stubreddit and read it
- 36:42Speaker 1: as a website that's like a content aggregator. There's a
- 36:45Speaker 1: lot of smaller what are called subreddits that are based
- 36:47Speaker 1: on different categories, and one of them is called Wall
- 36:49Speaker 1: street bets, which is basically for meme stocks. It's stock
- 36:53Speaker 1: memes jokes about where people are investing in dumb shit.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But over the past couple of weeks it is evolved
- 36:57Speaker 1: into people like taking it more and more seriously and
- 37:01Speaker 1: the issue that it's creating and I think what should
- 37:03Speaker 1: is going or not should, but what is going to
- 37:05Speaker 1: become The central narrative of this is that regular people
- 37:07Speaker 1: are going to lose the ships on of money because
- 37:08Speaker 1: they participated in this meme stock thing thinking they could
- 37:11Speaker 1: make it rich when they're not going to so you
- 37:13Speaker 1: can make it rich. If you can make it rich
- 37:15Speaker 1: if you get out like before, Yeah, if you get
- 37:17Speaker 1: out of immediately, if you're paying attention this whole time.
- 37:19Speaker 1: But people are seeing this now, like even yesterday and
- 37:22Speaker 1: being like, oh shit, I'm gonna put like ten grand in.
- 37:24Speaker 1: It's like, oh well, now it's too late. But I
- 37:26Speaker 1: mean if they if they cash out now though, they
- 37:28Speaker 1: can make a lot of money. Right. I even feel
- 37:32Speaker 1: bad saying that on the podcast right now because like
- 37:34Speaker 1: the fact is no, Like the fact is no. It's
- 37:36Speaker 1: like people should not be participating in this at this point. No,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I don't even investing now, but I mean there are
- 37:41Speaker 1: people investing in general. No, I'm saying there are people
- 37:45Speaker 1: that are in already who made a million dollars or more.
- 37:49Speaker 1: There's a there's a user on Reddit a deep fucking
- 37:51Speaker 1: value who was looking at a twenty two million dollar
- 37:54Speaker 1: come up off of this. So how do you how
- 37:55Speaker 1: do you how do you get that? How do you
- 37:57Speaker 1: get that money? Though? How do you get that money?
- 37:59Speaker 1: If nobody's going to buy this stock now at this point? Well,
- 38:02Speaker 1: you've got credit? Well, like what the fuck? Like the
- 38:07Speaker 1: how's you gotta claim this? Twenty two million. The hedge
- 38:09Speaker 1: funds that own that stock have to pay them out.
- 38:12Speaker 1: And that's and that's because they instead of those hedge
- 38:17Speaker 1: funds dissolving after paying this and going bankrupt and stuff
- 38:19Speaker 1: like that, the government is probably going to bail them,
- 38:22Speaker 1: bail them out to keep the hedge funds going. And
- 38:24Speaker 1: that is what we need to all be paying attention to,
- 38:27Speaker 1: because that is where we're going to see. This is
- 38:29Speaker 1: like one of those mass we bail them out last time.
- 38:31Speaker 1: It's it's it's like that. The it's two thousand and
- 38:33Speaker 1: eight all over again. I know there's a movie about this.
- 38:36Speaker 1: You think everybody would be worth paying attention to this,
- 38:38Speaker 1: but yet money has so much control over politics, like
- 38:41Speaker 1: all of the stuff still continues to this side. Way.
- 38:43Speaker 1: If you're so confused and board about this conversation, I apology, No,
- 38:47Speaker 1: it's fine, but I want to talk about it, and
- 38:48Speaker 1: so did Donald and Joel. But anyway, listen, there's a
- 38:52Speaker 1: movie that Adam mckamain called The Big Short R. And
- 38:55Speaker 1: The Big Short sort of explains it in a much better,
- 38:57Speaker 1: funnier way. You never counted us in? Do you want
- 39:01Speaker 1: to count us in? Right before Sarah joins us stories
- 39:06Speaker 1: about show we made about a bunch of nurses stories
- 39:19Speaker 1: yea around here, yea around m Sorry, I got very
- 39:29Speaker 1: heated about that. Great, it's such a great topic. Like
- 39:34Speaker 1: America's changing, America's changing before our eyes. Man, Like, literally,
- 39:39Speaker 1: we are witnessing, we are witnessing a revolution. Literally, can
- 39:43Speaker 1: you imagine? Like the guy who who? Who's who? Made
- 39:46Speaker 1: twenty two million dollars off Game Stop? Do you want it?
- 39:49Speaker 1: You should see if you should see a picture of him.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It's really funny. He better not do what we Run did.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Remember when we Run got those credit cards and he
- 39:57Speaker 1: bought the Scooba tech on what's happening? It's not like that.
- 40:00Speaker 1: The twenty two million after taxes, My man, that's freaking
- 40:07Speaker 1: he is banked, dude. Yeah, he can have a couple
- 40:09Speaker 1: of scuba tanks. By more than a couple of scuba tanks.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Another funny part of this is that like after he
- 40:15Speaker 1: made like, he doesn't a daily update it's called the
- 40:18Speaker 1: GMI Yolo update every day about how much money he made.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yesterday he lost thirteen million dollars. It was one day
- 40:25Speaker 1: because he didn't get out. Well, it's not that he
- 40:27Speaker 1: I mean he's holding because we're still trying to fuck
- 40:29Speaker 1: over this hedge fund. So the people who have all
- 40:31Speaker 1: the money right now, Yeah, everybody's holding. What they're doing?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Are they aren't they online? Please don't sell whatever you do,
- 40:42Speaker 1: don't sell. But wait, wait, can you explain last point
- 40:44Speaker 1: in this audience? I'm sorry if this isn't interest you,
- 40:46Speaker 1: but it's so interesting to me. Why why now? Why
- 40:52Speaker 1: not sell now? Because it's gonna come crashing down? Don't
- 40:55Speaker 1: you want to sell and get your money out while
- 40:57Speaker 1: you can. It's just I mean, the goal again, this
- 41:02Speaker 1: is about sending There's a large part of this about
- 41:04Speaker 1: sending a message, and a lot of people are putting
- 41:06Speaker 1: a lot of money behind sending a message. And I
- 41:08Speaker 1: think that's where the disparity comes in between people who
- 41:10Speaker 1: are kind of getting in late seeing this is a
- 41:12Speaker 1: money making opportunity and people who are participating in fuck
- 41:16Speaker 1: all of these hedge funds just short squeezing companies to
- 41:19Speaker 1: make even more money for you know nothing. They're like,
- 41:22Speaker 1: fuck you, we are going to get in this. We're
- 41:24Speaker 1: going to invest a bunch of money, and we're not
- 41:26Speaker 1: going to let go until you pay for it. It
- 41:28Speaker 1: is kind of fucked up though. Can you imagine like
- 41:31Speaker 1: you create a company and you know, it becomes huge
- 41:34Speaker 1: and then and then you're let's say it's not doing well.
- 41:37Speaker 1: All of a sudden, there's people who's they're like, they're like,
- 41:41Speaker 1: what are those birds that fly above all? They're like
- 41:44Speaker 1: vultures who are like, great, let's all bet that this
- 41:47Speaker 1: company's gonna fail. Now when it dies, I'm eaten. And
- 41:50Speaker 1: then tell everyone. Let's tell everyone it's going to fail,
- 41:53Speaker 1: because then we're gonna make money off of it because
- 41:55Speaker 1: we need to broadcast, we need to we need to
- 41:57Speaker 1: gossip that it's about to fail because then we'll make money.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I know Elon Musk was really upset because these hedge
- 42:03Speaker 1: funds like shorted hist Tesla. Yeah, and so he's gleeful
- 42:08Speaker 1: about this. Yeah, And I mean it's just, you know,
- 42:12Speaker 1: the stock market, it's controlled by such a small group
- 42:15Speaker 1: of people sharing billions and billions of dollars, and it's
- 42:18Speaker 1: like the regular person wants to get in and enjoy
- 42:21Speaker 1: and people are saying, no, not for you. Yeah, that's
- 42:24Speaker 1: the thing, man, When when when when when you get
- 42:26Speaker 1: into the stock market, It ain't like the movies where
- 42:30Speaker 1: it's you know, where you're where you're all it's all
- 42:32Speaker 1: fly and fancy and stuff like that. You can do that,
- 42:35Speaker 1: but most likely you're gonna lose all your money doing that.
- 42:38Speaker 1: The best way to do it is to get like
- 42:40Speaker 1: little things that are that are solid and can't go down. Right, Yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 1: I mean that's but it's still gambling. But the joy
- 42:50Speaker 1: is but I know, but the joy is freaking living
- 42:53Speaker 1: that fast life and making that fast cash. I don't
- 42:56Speaker 1: think a lot of I don't think a lot of
- 42:58Speaker 1: day traders a ton of luck, right, I mean, like
- 43:01Speaker 1: some don't, get me wrong, some do, but I think
- 43:03Speaker 1: in the movies they do. I think that Dan Lareen
- 43:07Speaker 1: I write that a lot of day traders like really
- 43:10Speaker 1: get fucked. I mean, I don't know about I can't
- 43:12Speaker 1: give you a stat on a lot versus a little,
- 43:14Speaker 1: but what I can say is that like, day trading
- 43:17Speaker 1: is not like a it's a full time job. It's like,
- 43:20Speaker 1: if you decide to be a day trader, you're talking
- 43:22Speaker 1: about an incredibly diverse portfolio where some of your money
- 43:25Speaker 1: is going up and some of your money is going down.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And like if you're getting part of one stock, you're failing.
- 43:31Speaker 1: You want to have like one hundred things you're invested in,
- 43:33Speaker 1: because then you're just watching all the numbers go up
- 43:35Speaker 1: and it's like, oh, I made a hundred dollars here,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I'm made a thousand dollars here, I'm ind ten grand here,
- 43:38Speaker 1: I lost fifty grand here. But it's okay because blah
- 43:40Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah. It's like day trading is. It's
- 43:42Speaker 1: not a joke, and it's not like a small thing either,
- 43:44Speaker 1: So it's like, yeah, it's yeah, it's you can make money,
- 43:48Speaker 1: for sure, but it's like, you know, do you want
- 43:50Speaker 1: to invest as much time into getting it to learn
- 43:52Speaker 1: the stock market as you did to get into acting. No,
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm not saying. I'm not saying. I'm not saying I
- 43:57Speaker 1: want to become a day trader. And I think the
- 43:58Speaker 1: people that do this, and I know they sit in
- 44:00Speaker 1: front of screen and it's their full time job. I
- 44:03Speaker 1: saw like a doc about it. I feel like that's
- 44:05Speaker 1: vaguely in my brain but correct. But I think a
- 44:07Speaker 1: lot of people. Again I have no stats, but I
- 44:10Speaker 1: feel like people get in over their heads totally. They've
- 44:13Speaker 1: got and they and just like gambling totally, just like
- 44:15Speaker 1: Donald going back to the atm in Vegas. They keep going,
- 44:19Speaker 1: keep going, and then all of a sudden they fucking
- 44:21Speaker 1: lose everything. Yes, the only point I was making about
- 44:23Speaker 1: acting was just about an investment of time. Because when
- 44:25Speaker 1: people look at you two, they say they're incredibly successful.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I could not imagine the skills it took to be
- 44:31Speaker 1: as good at acting as these two are. It's like,
- 44:34Speaker 1: think about putting that exact same amount of time and
- 44:37Speaker 1: investment into being a day trader. I'm not saying that's
- 44:40Speaker 1: what you're doing. I'm saying that, like as people look
- 44:42Speaker 1: at easy money making opportunities in here, it's not easy.
- 44:45Speaker 1: It takes work, it takes time, just like everything else
- 44:48Speaker 1: that we do. It's like craps. Really, it really is
- 44:51Speaker 1: like craps. It really is like you gotta be able
- 44:55Speaker 1: to watch so many things when you're playing craps. You
- 44:57Speaker 1: gotta you make so many bets, and you put so
- 44:59Speaker 1: many things out there, and it's really easy to lose
- 45:02Speaker 1: track of what's what and how much what pays and
- 45:05Speaker 1: all of that stuff. You're really good at craps. I've
- 45:09Speaker 1: been I've been robbed at craps, I know, but I've
- 45:11Speaker 1: had fun with you. I've been robbed you, literally doing
- 45:15Speaker 1: you at least understand every time I said that dealer himself.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Every time I step up to the craps table, I'm
- 45:22Speaker 1: usually with I only do it when I'm with someone
- 45:24Speaker 1: who knows how to play, like Donald, and I'm always like,
- 45:26Speaker 1: how the hell are all these people keeping track? Even
- 45:29Speaker 1: like the dealers or whatever you call them. I don't
- 45:31Speaker 1: know if you call them dealers at a craps table,
- 45:32Speaker 1: but how are they possibly or isn't it like croupier
- 45:37Speaker 1: or something. I think it's crew pier. I don't know.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I know that game is fun, dude, you know when
- 45:42Speaker 1: your brain vomits up a term that you didn't even know.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I was like, whatever they call those crap creupier. Anyway,
- 45:49Speaker 1: I'm always like, how do they keep track of all
- 45:51Speaker 1: that's going on? It's so impressive. But anyway, Donald, i've
- 45:54Speaker 1: been with you and we've had some fun. I'd never
- 45:56Speaker 1: know what to do. I'm like, what do I do?
- 45:57Speaker 1: And You're like, do this? Do this? It's a fun
- 46:00Speaker 1: game even when you just know it a little bit.
- 46:03Speaker 1: It's so confusing. But it's like, wait, I get paid,
- 46:06Speaker 1: I'll take it. What do you mean you're taking my money,
- 46:09Speaker 1: aren't you? Aren't you impressed that the that those guys,
- 46:13Speaker 1: the croupiers, they can keep track of all that's going
- 46:15Speaker 1: on the table. I just like the way they call numbers,
- 46:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean. They get very creative with
- 46:20Speaker 1: calling numbers, like that. First time I ever heard somebody
- 46:23Speaker 1: do the Sports Center theme to nine nine nine. Really? Yeah, alright?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Is Canada's favorite actress here? Yes she is? All right?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Let her in. Let that girl in. You love to
- 46:39Speaker 1: love it, the cutest blonde on earth. Or camera's off
- 46:43Speaker 1: and she's let's see if she's figured it out. Let's
- 46:50Speaker 1: see if she can figure it out. I figured it out.
- 46:55Speaker 1: We can't hear you. Oh it air pods. I take
- 46:58Speaker 1: the air pods out, lead them out, lead them in.
- 47:03Speaker 1: You can't do it, Okay, I are better? Hi, Hi,
- 47:10Speaker 1: guys gets so fancy. I just got these air pods,
- 47:14Speaker 1: and then Daniel had told me how to connect them.
- 47:17Speaker 1: But I guess I don't need them. I don't need
- 47:20Speaker 1: you do need them? You do need them? So funny.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I love you so much. I really thought this many times.
- 47:29Speaker 1: She'd be like, you know what, it's not gonna be
- 47:30Speaker 1: funny anymore because she's gonna be able to figure out
- 47:32Speaker 1: how I got on a zoom call. So I need
- 47:36Speaker 1: to make sure it is that I have the air pods. Sarah, Sarah,
- 47:52Speaker 1: I just can't imagine how you go about your day.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I just can't. So, Sara, this is zoom and it's
- 48:00Speaker 1: it's a video conferenceation. Can you hear me? Okay? So
- 48:08Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe me, but I just finished like
- 48:09Speaker 1: this three day press junket for Firefly Lane, and I
- 48:12Speaker 1: was like, I was so proud because there was not
- 48:16Speaker 1: one technical glitch and I just thought I was gonna
- 48:20Speaker 1: prest you guys. I honestly was thinking, oh, man, Sarah's
- 48:26Speaker 1: got this, Sarah's got this dialed, so we're never Why
- 48:29Speaker 1: can't I hear Zach? I can't hear you? No, gosh,
- 48:32Speaker 1: just Sarah, just to make sure, so you know, in
- 48:34Speaker 1: the bottom in zoom, in the little next to the microphone,
- 48:38Speaker 1: just make sure, okay, So just make sure that the
- 48:40Speaker 1: speaker is set to your air pods, because we can
- 48:43Speaker 1: hear you through your computers mic, which is good, but
- 48:45Speaker 1: we need to make sure we're only coming through your
- 48:47Speaker 1: air pods. Talk to me down, Hi, can you hear me? Am?
- 48:51Speaker 1: I coming through just your air pods. No, you're coming,
- 48:54Speaker 1: I'm going also coming through my speaker. Okay, so we
- 48:57Speaker 1: need to stop that. Oh my god, don't edit this out.
- 49:01Speaker 1: It's too amazing. Ed Daniel. Daniel loves me, he's gonna
- 49:04Speaker 1: edit this out. So he's gonna edit it out. Just
- 49:07Speaker 1: remind me really quickly. I'm going into the microphone at
- 49:10Speaker 1: the bottom of the big zoom window and the bottom
- 49:12Speaker 1: left is a microphone symbol. Yeah, oh yeah, we's down
- 49:14Speaker 1: a little arrow next to it. And then for speaker,
- 49:16Speaker 1: make sure it's set to air pods. And then for microphone,
- 49:19Speaker 1: make sure it's set to like a microphone or a
- 49:22Speaker 1: computer microphone. Oh thank god. Yay. So now we're just
- 49:26Speaker 1: coming through your AirPods and not coming through the speaker.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Just sweating, just dripping, just you're doing sweat right now.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I'm just nailing it. I'm really fucking nailing this. Guys.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Let's be on. You talked about it early, you talked
- 49:36Speaker 1: about it. Let's tell everybody about your new show. Sarah. Yeah, Sarah,
- 49:39Speaker 1: tell us about your new show. Congratulation, congratulations Katherine Heigel, right, yes,
- 49:45Speaker 1: thank you so much. It was it was Katherine Heigel
- 49:48Speaker 1: and I playing best friends over three decades, and it's
- 49:52Speaker 1: based on a book Firefly Lane, and we play these
- 49:56Speaker 1: two best friends. We get to play ourselves at eighteen,
- 49:59Speaker 1: twenty three and forty three? Wow, how did you possibly
- 50:04Speaker 1: do forty three? Sarah? Because it is a mystery really,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I mean the aga, because I don't understand how you
- 50:14Speaker 1: would ever play forty three. I know if they did,
- 50:17Speaker 1: they got like Elmer's glue and they rubbed it on
- 50:20Speaker 1: their hands and then put on my face and they're like,
- 50:24Speaker 1: it's still only thirty six. We gotta get some other
- 50:26Speaker 1: I don't know what we're gonna do. It was so
- 50:28Speaker 1: humbling to sit in a hair and makeup trailer and
- 50:32Speaker 1: have people consult on how to make you look younger.
- 50:36Speaker 1: So if if you've put tape right on your neck,
- 50:38Speaker 1: like what if we just you know, I was like, what,
- 50:43Speaker 1: oh my god? Do they do the things where they
- 50:45Speaker 1: tape here on your eye? We tried that, but it
- 50:48Speaker 1: just instead of making you look younger, just made you
- 50:51Speaker 1: look like you had like a kind of like a facelift. Yeah,
- 50:53Speaker 1: and we were because we were in wigs too, so
- 50:55Speaker 1: the wigs kind of naturally and then I think they
- 50:58Speaker 1: just Benjamin buttoned us and use some CGI. But that
- 51:02Speaker 1: I mean, that was like so ridiculously fun. Obviously, the
- 51:05Speaker 1: eighties is like my favorite decade. I still have like
- 51:08Speaker 1: a drawer full of dress up clothes for my kids
- 51:10Speaker 1: of my own things from the eighties, and so yeah,
- 51:14Speaker 1: that piece was ridiculous. We got to go and play.
- 51:16Speaker 1: So what network is on? How do we find it? Netflix? Netflix? Netflix?
- 51:21Speaker 1: Everybody chill and when a Netflix and Chill? When does
- 51:25Speaker 1: it come out? February third? Tomorrow, guys, tomorrow on Netflix.
- 51:30Speaker 1: You know you're tired of all the ship and you
- 51:32Speaker 1: have on your on your streaming. You look and you're like, no, no, no, no,
- 51:38Speaker 1: Well guess what Sarah Chalk is giving you a present.
- 51:41Speaker 1: It's called fire Fly Lane, right, yes, tomorrow on Netflix,
- 51:47Speaker 1: maybe saying a little bit more confident. Sorry, let me
- 51:49Speaker 1: do that again, you guys. It's called Firefly Lane with
- 51:53Speaker 1: the Sarah Chalk and the Catherine Heigel and it's funny
- 51:56Speaker 1: and I bet it's charming. Is there romance? Do you
- 51:58Speaker 1: have a love interest? Should I be jealous? There's there's
- 52:01Speaker 1: actually I have a few. I was at one day
- 52:02Speaker 1: where I looked on the call sheet and I was like,
- 52:04Speaker 1: there's not one boy on this call sheet that I
- 52:06Speaker 1: haven't made it with. And definitely, yeah, I got I
- 52:11Speaker 1: mean obviously on scrubs, like I got to wear a
- 52:13Speaker 1: lot of broad and underwear. But it's very different doing
- 52:15Speaker 1: that in your twenties versus your forties. And so I
- 52:18Speaker 1: mean there was a lot of days where I was like, oh,
- 52:20Speaker 1: naked in a pool swimming at night in Canada. Excellent,
- 52:23Speaker 1: and so wily didn't. So friend, sorry to interrupts you, Sarah,
- 52:26Speaker 1: but for those of you who might be interested, Sarah
- 52:29Speaker 1: is often scantually clad. So watch that tomorrow. Do we
- 52:33Speaker 1: see crack? Do we see crack? Do you show there
- 52:36Speaker 1: was a there was a conversation about that. We did not,
- 52:40Speaker 1: but you know, it still was definitely getting like so
- 52:44Speaker 1: far out of my comfort zone because even though the
- 52:47Speaker 1: way you know, obviously you can shoot it in different ways,
- 52:51Speaker 1: but you're still there in front of like one hundred
- 52:52Speaker 1: crew members who you know very well by this point,
- 52:55Speaker 1: in not a lot more than stickers. Let me ask
- 52:59Speaker 1: you a question, yeah, and you can answer it or
- 53:03Speaker 1: don't answer it. Are you simulating sex in this movie? Yes,
- 53:06Speaker 1: they're simulated. No? No, I mean, you know Katherine Heigel's
- 53:12Speaker 1: character Tully goes a little bit further than mine, and
- 53:15Speaker 1: those types of scenes I do have to do like
- 53:18Speaker 1: kind of no, it's more like the beginnings of it's
- 53:21Speaker 1: never No, you're not humping. There's no humping. You know what,
- 53:25Speaker 1: you got to watch everybody show. You gotta watch this show.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I'm kind of gonna watch now. I was gonna watch,
- 53:31Speaker 1: but now I'm gonna extra watch. I'm gonna sit watch.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna sit closer to the TV. Now, you guys
- 53:37Speaker 1: are gonna relate to you, guys, I'm seeing you in
- 53:39Speaker 1: a long time. Sarah, you're looking good. Yeah, you look beautiful.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Oh it's because I just had to do this junket
- 53:45Speaker 1: thing and they showed me how to go into zoom
- 53:46Speaker 1: and like there's a button to like touch up your appearance.
- 53:50Speaker 1: So it's just you don't need like Sara. Well, you
- 53:55Speaker 1: guys are going to be able to understand why this
- 53:59Speaker 1: was like scarier for me than any of that, you know,
- 54:03Speaker 1: level of undress. The thing that was the most terrifying, uh,
- 54:08Speaker 1: and the thing I had to get most outside of
- 54:09Speaker 1: my comfort zone was I had to sing no way,
- 54:14Speaker 1: oh no, no, you're the one's always broadcasts that you're
- 54:19Speaker 1: you always broadcast that you're a horrible singer. But I'm
- 54:21Speaker 1: sure you can carry a tune. No, she cannot. I can't.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I truly can't. So so the Maggie said, to the
- 54:28Speaker 1: Maggie Freeman, the creative our show said, so, how do
- 54:30Speaker 1: you fee about karaoke? Or you can rap. We're gonna
- 54:33Speaker 1: have you rap an Eminem song. And I was like,
- 54:35Speaker 1: I'm so down. That's so fun. I love it. I
- 54:37Speaker 1: can't wait. So then the Eminem song did not clear,
- 54:40Speaker 1: and it was right before like a two week break
- 54:42Speaker 1: for Christmas holidays, and she said, okay, so we've cleared
- 54:45Speaker 1: these five songs, so pick anyone that you want and
- 54:48Speaker 1: you can sing it for karaoke. And I I was like, oh,
- 54:53Speaker 1: but the like these are all singing. There's no rap here,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and she said, yeah, you have to pick one. So
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'm driving up to Whistle. My sister Piper's driving. I'm
- 55:01Speaker 1: in the passenger seat, my kids in the back, and
- 55:03Speaker 1: I'm just like given her, just belting out one after
- 55:06Speaker 1: the next, and Piper's like, nope, next one, not a chance,
- 55:10Speaker 1: next one hundred percent, no, next one. Don't even think
- 55:14Speaker 1: about it, and so then I'm like, Piper, we're out
- 55:18Speaker 1: of songs, Like, we're out of songs. I have to
- 55:20Speaker 1: pick one of these. So I call up Maggie and
- 55:22Speaker 1: I was like, Maggie's sure, there's like not any rap
- 55:24Speaker 1: song in the history of turning. They're clear, please please,
- 55:27Speaker 1: for the love of God, I was kicked out of
- 55:28Speaker 1: the choir by missus McKinnon in grade five in Discards
- 55:30Speaker 1: for Life, and I, you know, told chalk girl's mouth
- 55:33Speaker 1: the words for this performance singing Christmas Carols in the
- 55:36Speaker 1: mall and she said, no, it's really it's one of
- 55:40Speaker 1: these five third songs. So I had to sing and
- 55:44Speaker 1: I asked for a singing lesson, so they gave me
- 55:46Speaker 1: a singing lesson, which was great. And then and then
- 55:49Speaker 1: it comes to the day to do it, and we
- 55:51Speaker 1: get to the bar and they're like, well, there's no
- 55:53Speaker 1: place to set up a screen for karaoke, and we
- 55:57Speaker 1: really want to get the audio from today, so we're
- 55:59Speaker 1: just put an earwig in your ear and so you're
- 56:03Speaker 1: gonna be singing. The bar will be silent. Oh my god,
- 56:07Speaker 1: the sound of my grating voice. What's salting out to
- 56:13Speaker 1: something by Chumba Womba and what's that song I get
- 56:18Speaker 1: knocked down? Whiskey good times? Do you think that times?
- 56:29Speaker 1: Danny Boy? Will you give our audience a little preview
- 56:34Speaker 1: of this, Sarah go, Yeah, yeah, you know. I mean
- 56:40Speaker 1: it was I will just start sweating even more than
- 56:42Speaker 1: I did try to figure out the headphones and the
- 56:44Speaker 1: your pods piece of this interview. I love that you
- 56:47Speaker 1: are singing now. Well well, so, I mean I came
- 56:51Speaker 1: home and told my sisters this story, and they were like,
- 56:52Speaker 1: stopped talking. I can't They were like, I can't even
- 56:54Speaker 1: hear it, It's just the idea, Like they just got
- 56:56Speaker 1: so uncomfortable hearing that. I had to get up in
- 57:00Speaker 1: front of one hundred people and just like fill this
- 57:02Speaker 1: bar with the sound of only my voice, and I
- 57:04Speaker 1: had this earwig, not with the actual song playing, but
- 57:08Speaker 1: just sort of like this clicking rhythm of like, and
- 57:12Speaker 1: I was like, but you know that I'm not musical,
- 57:14Speaker 1: and I don't understand when to jump in, like just
- 57:17Speaker 1: jump in with my dialogue. And so I was just like, okay,
- 57:22Speaker 1: the only way I just through I just gotta I
- 57:24Speaker 1: just started dancing, like while I was singing, to try
- 57:26Speaker 1: and distract for the fact that I was singing, And
- 57:28Speaker 1: let me ask you something. How was your Katherine Heigel experience?
- 57:34Speaker 1: Did you enjoy working with her? So, Katie, Katherine and
- 57:38Speaker 1: I had never met. Douley Hill is a mutual friend.
- 57:41Speaker 1: My god, how why does Da Hill come up every
- 57:43Speaker 1: episode when we don't bring even when we don't bring him,
- 57:49Speaker 1: bring him up, our guests bring him up because he's
- 57:52Speaker 1: when you have him on. Let me come on and
- 57:54Speaker 1: say thank you to him. Because what happened was he
- 57:57Speaker 1: called me and he was like, my friend, Katherine Heigel
- 57:59Speaker 1: is doing this Netflix series called Firefly Lane in Vancouver,
- 58:02Speaker 1: your hometown. Can you guys, you know, chat about neighborhoods
- 58:04Speaker 1: and schools and stuff that for her kids. And so
- 58:07Speaker 1: we got on the phone and we talked for like
- 58:09Speaker 1: an hour and just really had the best time. And
- 58:14Speaker 1: it was like a month later, I think I got
- 58:15Speaker 1: this script in my inbox and I opened it up.
- 58:19Speaker 1: I was like, wait, this is this is Katherine Heigel show.
- 58:21Speaker 1: And I read it and it was just this incredible
- 58:25Speaker 1: story and I was so in love with the part
- 58:28Speaker 1: and in love with the idea of playing somebody over
- 58:29Speaker 1: three decades. And so then we met at the cast party,
- 58:34Speaker 1: and then our first two days together were like, you know,
- 58:37Speaker 1: playing dressed up in the hair and makeup trailer, going
- 58:39Speaker 1: like wait, put that, wait, cut your hair short, longer,
- 58:42Speaker 1: try this wig on, more blue eyes, shadow less shoulder pads,
- 58:45Speaker 1: more stirrup pants. And then we just you know, started
- 58:50Speaker 1: hanging out on the weekends and hiking the dogs. And
- 58:53Speaker 1: then she would have wine and cheese nights for the
- 58:56Speaker 1: cast at her house, and then I had parties at
- 58:59Speaker 1: my house and her husband and Josh would come over
- 59:00Speaker 1: and bring his guitar, and then it evolved into like
- 59:02Speaker 1: dance parties in my backyard. And it was just one
- 59:04Speaker 1: of those things where we got so lucky because I
- 59:09Speaker 1: think you have to fake. I mean, it's like you
- 59:11Speaker 1: guys are best friends in real life, and so that's
- 59:13Speaker 1: just like translated in the show. We just got along
- 59:15Speaker 1: so well, and I think having to fake when you're
- 59:17Speaker 1: actually doing scenes where you're sobbing on someone's shoulder. Okay,
- 59:20Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe this. Hang on a second, I'm
- 59:23Speaker 1: taking this. Women, I had I had a time to eat,
- 59:27Speaker 1: so right before we started, I thought it would make
- 59:29Speaker 1: a cruel youth. Ever, oh my god, in case, in case,
- 59:44Speaker 1: anyone didn't know if Sarah was her real character as Elliott.
- 59:49Speaker 1: It's fine, it's fine, it's fine. You know what I
- 59:51Speaker 1: was like what it smells so good and bad all
- 59:53Speaker 1: at the same time. You are such a character, Sarah talk.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Should we get into the show? Yeah, we should probably
- 59:58Speaker 1: talk about Scrubs? All right, Sorry, sorry for the one
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: hour prologue. It's time to talk about the television show Scrubs.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Donald Ready, are you ready with your recap? Ready? Let
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: me set my timer because everyone wants to know and go.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Carla has competition in the advice department. Cox needs a win.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Jd and Elliott seemed to be on the relationshipment and
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Molly Clock played by Heaven Graham, could be its own
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: investigative medical comedy with the cast of Scrubs as a
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: supporting element. Being competitive is one of the most resourceful
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: human assets in life. It can fuel a person to greatness.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Some people go too far, some people have a problem.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Life isn't a competition, but I often find I'm most
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: effective and successful, and I compete in its game, in
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: its game. Nice forty six seconds graft guy. Hey, I
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: was not to mention the Jordan documentary again, but you
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: just made me think of it. How they were like,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: do you have a gambling problem. He's like, no, I'm
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: addicted to competing. And it made me think of what
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you just said, because he just wanted to He wanted
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: to bet, He wanted to compete on anything and everything
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: in his life. And yeah, and my point is it
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: drove him, Like you're saying, the characters in this episode, yeah,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I mean, you can become great just because of the
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: because of your competitive nature. You know. It's it's half
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: of the half of the game is to compete. Yeah,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: And everybody in this episode is competing absolutely in some way,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: shape or form. Yeah. Now, this episode has a very
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: famous moment in it for the Scrubs fans, and that
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: is when Johnny c McGinley starts the episode off by saying,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: either this kid has a light bulb up his butt
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: or his colon has a great idea the X ray.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: That is one of the funniest little jokes I think
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: ever in Scrub's history. Now, was there another episode about
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the ass box or was this the only ass box episode? No,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: there's no, there's there's a episode that's solely about right
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: and and and as Scrubs Wiki points out the light
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: bulb that's finally pulled out of this young man's sphincter
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: anus cavity would likely go in the ass box if
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: it weren't for the fact that the guys decide to
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: put it in Kelso's lamp. Right, and that's so funny
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: he goes there. The heat from the light that's so gross,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: perculates the ship the whole. The major storyline of this
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: episode is how do you get a light bulb out
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: of someone's anal cavity. You got to go from the
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: top and push. I mean, everyone has everyone has different theories.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: And the janitor who knew who knew the janitor would
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: be up such service? And when the fuck is the
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: janitor doing in an operating room and the same time,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: at the same time on a mask. Nobody has on
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: anything at this end, you have to you know, if
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: it's framed out, obviously, but you have to imagine that
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: the guy is on all fours with his anus opens
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: of the sky, right and and and the two doctors, okay,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: they're there, but so is the janitor just looking down
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: like how is that guy? Okay? It was like, what
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: would he never think to say? Guys can you kick
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: the janitor out of there? Well, the fact that they're
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: doing it for this guy and Kelso's like when Cox,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: He's like, let me guess he donated a wing and
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Kelso goes, he donated a wing, a thigh and the
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: breast as he goes, yes, genius in this metaphor of
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: the hospital is a chicken. That was very funny. I
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: laughed at this episode. Yeah, there's very much you want
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: to remember this episode at all. I don't remember this
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: at all. First of all, it's the first time you
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: ever call Neil janitor. That's usually Saturah's thing. But you're
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: like Canada, right, yeah, dude, Like I love the three
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: of them together. The three of them together was a
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: lot of fun. It was like it was when Neil
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: shows up in a doctor's coat and then he puts
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: on the old school mirror, right, where'd you get the coat?
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: There's some very funny Neil things. What about when Satura
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: and I are are are in the we're coat chiefs, right,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: and we're in our tiny office and uh and Neil
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: comes in and he bangs his card against our desks.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: He's like, sorry, sorry, time to clean, and we're like
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: and then he goes, oops, he's spraying. He goes, oops,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: that one got away, and I'm like, oh, it burns
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: since in my eyes over he goes, I'm only burns.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Write that down, Write that down. I want to talk
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: about the supporting cast in this episode, because the three
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: of them were hilarious. Todd, Doug, and Uh and Nurse
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Roberts have some of the funny. But I wrote down
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: a Looma was on fire in this episode. When she goes,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: maybe she's racist. That shit had me rolling. Why is
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: everybody why Elliott taking advice from Molly and not me?
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Maybe she's racist? That was funny. What if I went,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Alma so straight, so straight and so dry? She goes,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Doug wants to give this guy five hundred thousand milligrams
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: a morphine. I thought I'd check with you before I
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: killed him. Many delivery was perfection, I thought, Castle and
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Alma right on the show. We got gotten a lot
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: of requests, we got Joelle, we gotten a lot of requests.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Let's have both of them on at the same time.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: About that and what if? The what about when Zeltzer?
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: When Bob Glenn does That's why my wife and I
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: use candles. Yeah, what does he mean though? He means
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: they shove candles up each other. That's this, dude. They
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: jam candles up each other. They do that. It's a
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: lot of this. Yeah, how it hurts. Zeltzer is such
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: a twisted fuck. I love Bob Clendon, another person we
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: need to have on the podcast. And Nickhead was so
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: funny in this one. I want to talk about beard
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Face or beard Face in different points in the background. Yeah,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: they can't figure out where Beards works in this hospital,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Like he's all over the place. Have you even noticed that.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I've really noticed because I'm always tracking the progress of
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: beard Face. He's very often in the pharmacy window, so like,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: is he a pharmacist? And if he's a pharmacist, how
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: come he's everywhere else? Like, shouldn't we be filling Bruce
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: in hospital? Right, He's in the er all the time.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: He's everywhere Beards. Yeah. The thing about the key background
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: players like Beard Fasse, Mickhead Snoop Dogg Resident, they always
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: knew where the camera was, so they were smart. They knew, like,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: my background work will be like where the camera is, obviously,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: but I'm trying to like process, who Beard Fuss is
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: in the hospital. Like, if he's not the pharmacist, why
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: is he always in the pharmacy window? Right? Mickhead is
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: a doctor. Snoop Dogg is an intern? Is Johnny Castle's
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: a resident? Johnny Castle didn't make resident. He didn't make resident,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: make a resident. It's so funny. It's so funny when
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Sarah and I each have to pick our interns and
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Doug goes pick the hot chick and I go, shut up, Doug,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: We'll take the hot chicken. So that was very funny.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: When when when Cox on the ramp tells me that
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Sarah has been chosen as the chief, that was very funny.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I screamed, you throw all there? I go, I just
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: like this was this is a meme that I see
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: all the time, or a gift? Why do you hate
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: me when I show you nothing but love? And then
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I scream It was one of my favorite moments of
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: the episodes, that you're like, I just I just have
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: three questions. Why do you I mean, who's gonna tell
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: my mom? And what the hell am I gonna do
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: with five thousand dorian residente president business cards? Yeah, I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: made the cards made and then I and then right away.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I used it to hit on a hit on a chick.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: We should talk about Heather because she's really sad and
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: and and even though this is an episode and you're narrating,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: she kind of is the storyteller in this episode. Yeah,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: popping in and out of everywhere. I thought she did
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: a wonderful job. This actually could be a show. I
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: remember that after she did her run with Us, she
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: went on and did another show for a little bit.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: But I don't know what that Emily's reasons why not? Yeah,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: was that a was that the medical show that she
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: did right after us? It wasn't medical, but it was.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: It was. It was short lived, it didn't it didn't
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: have a long run. But yeah, I mean I think
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: that this, I mean, I just I'm sure Heather would
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: agree that this, Like this showed a new side to her.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: People knew her as like, you know, the sexy blonde,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: you know, leading lady, and this really showed that she
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: could be versatile and be really funny. Yeah, she's very
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: well she character actor. She showed that she has the skills. Yeah,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: she's really funny in this. Yeah. One of my favorite
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: moments is when when she Judy goes up. Why did
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: you just close your eyes at me, just like oh,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I can't blink, and she just she's so weird. The
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: character she sets up, She sets up work on a
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: bench because she can't find her office. Yeah, this is
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: not my She walks into your office and goes, this
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: is not my office. You know what movie that's from?
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: If you can come on, man, Pebley Hills cop, this
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: is I think it's too, is it too? This is
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: not my locker. This is the first one. This is
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: not my locker. It's the first. Is that motherfucking acces
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: of Polly in here? That guy was so good that
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: actor play get it chewed off to be the man
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you see, I ain't got no ass left. You still
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: got a little bit as a little bit. Don't fuck
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: with me, ACXL, that great actor so was the captain
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: of the Beverly Hills. When he's like, yeah, bok a mill.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: But is this the man who? Oh that guy right?
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: We we we And my sister used to laugh so
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: hard at him, going it is this the man who
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: wrecked the buffet at the Harrow Club. And then he
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: walks out, and then he walks out and Eddie Murphy
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: picks up on. It is just the man who wrecked
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Is this the man who disabled one of our patrol
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: cars by sticking a banana? And the tailor but disabled
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: disabled one of our patrol cars with banana? That guy,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: that guy was amazing. I bet no one has ever
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: pointed out that both captains in Beverly Hill's coup are
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: masterfully played, well played, well play guys. You didn't, did you? Five, six, seven,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: eighth before? You can't? Did it before you? Sarah? Do
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: you want to try it? You can do it on
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: the way out, Sarah, you can. You got that, you
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: got the extro. So let's explore this. This is the
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: beginning of JD and Elliott rekindling their friendship, trying. But
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't understand what the hell j I
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: didn't understand what the hell JD's doing. He's like, he
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: just broke this woman's heart, and I mean he's I mean,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I'm just watching these backs, Sarah, I'm so infuriated by
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: my character. Sometimes it's like he just he just broke
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: up with her and broke her heart and broke her
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: up with Sean for no reason. And now he's like, hey,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: it'd be really great if we could like hang out,
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: you know, like his friends like outside coffee, and she's
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: like so nice to him, like, well, I need a
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: little more time, like she should be like fuck you agreed,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: although she is like fuck you for a lot of it.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: But then they do have I thought, I don't know,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I thought that coffee, Like that coffee scene was kind
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: of sweet. I know, but didn't you feel that it
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: was a little soon, like knowing what JD has done
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: to this poor woman. Yes, yeah, I don't know how
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: she can ever forgive. I don't know how she could
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: ever forgive you. The thing is, I mean she has
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: to because you guys work in the same place, so eventually,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: you guys are gonna have to be and you work,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you guys seem to have the same shifts all the time,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: so you're gonna have to be. I wish they'd explained
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: a little bit more. And I get, I know the
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: truth that fucking people do this all the time and
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: and it's and it's real. But I wish they'd explain
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: a little more, like what what JD was so afraid of,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: because he's clearly crazy about her. He's afraid of commitment
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: or something whatever. I just feel like it's never really exposed, like,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: why is he playing such mind games with her? It's
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: not he's not sinister because we obviously does truly love
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: her at the end the end, because we're trying to
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: go nine seasons, dude, that's why. Just because seas do
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: we can't remember? Do we do? Do? We find out later?
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: And I think Donald's right that the production reason is
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: because people are so into will there, won't they get
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: them together? Break them up? Get them together, break them up?
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: But I don't remember, And just watching it, I'm like,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: why is this guy's your fucking asshole people? And it's
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: not like that in real life too. The will there,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: won't they get them together? Break them up? That's only
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: for movies. Men. Well, I don't know. There's a lot
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: of people listening. I'm sure who who've gotten back together,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: broken up, gotten back together, broken up with the same person. Yeah,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: and that relationship still didn't work. You're saying that in
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: the end. If you're doing that bullshit, you can't really work. Ultimately,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: there's no way getting back together, breaking up, getting back together,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: breaking up, getting back together, breaking up works out in
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the end, there's no way. I can't His parents were
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: married three times, right, it's really actually yeah, Matthew McConaughey's parents. Yeah,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: and then his father died while he was having sex
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: with his mom. Yeah, that's impressive. I did not know
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: this story, Joel. With the imagine you mentioned, you get
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: married and then it doesn't work out, you get divorced,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: and then you go, I am not I regret it.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Let's get married again? No no, no, no, okay, no,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: we got divorced again? All right? You know what I miss? You?
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Should we get married again? Why? Why not just date?
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I just don't see that happening, Like I think. I
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: think even when you get back together with someone and
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: who you've been with a long time, like let's say
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: it was years since you had dated, and then you
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: meet each other again and you date again, I think
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: the minute that I don't think people change that much
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to where you know, the things that annoyed you back
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: then are going to pop up eventually and you're gonna
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: be like, this is the same ship that it was
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: ten years ago. But I'm a romantic. Don't you believe
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: that that you can meet someone down the line that
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you had a thing with and you can be like,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: all of a sudden it's new context and you've both
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: experienced a lot of life, and you went and you
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: go eureka, oh my god, When Harry met Sally is
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: a movie that shit does not happen in real life. Man,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: People don't have people aren't that busy telling you right? Oh,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: I don't think people are that busy, dude. I don't
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: think people have that much going on in their life
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: that all of a sudden four years five years makes
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: such a big difference when it comes to relationships. I
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: don't especially if the person and if the person annoyed
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: you five years ago, most likely they're going to annoy
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: you to five years later. Well, listen, if you're someone
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: that like got back together with there like high school
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: or college sweetheart after so many years, and maybe you
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: both got married other people, and that you came when
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: you contact you, well, because I'd like to have you
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: on well, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: hold on, hold up. You dated in the path. This
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: is what it has to be. You dated in the path,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: you broke up because it was a broke the relationship sucked,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: and then ten years later, however, you've got married and
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: then later on you got back together because you both
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: have changed so much. I am. I am eager to
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: talk to you. We want to hear and it has
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: to have worked out, and it has to have worked out.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Do you have to still be together? It can't be
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: all we dated for like a year and then it
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: shit didn't work or we've been dating for a year
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: now and the ship and it's going okay. You have
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: to you have to have did it broken up and
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: then been a success again for at least what how
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: how long should we say, guys? Tears? Two years? Two years?
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: And the sex has to be better than it ever was,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: and y'all better be fucking that's right, y'all better be
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: And we want to hear about it. Want to hear
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: about that. We want to hear you. We're gonna have
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: you on the fuck on the show, right, We're gonna,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: We're gonna, We're gonna, We're gonna we're gonna start only fans,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: fake doctors, real friends, only fans. Are we allowed you
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: well to have a couple copulate on the show live?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Is that my heart? I mean I think it it'll
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: be the realest only fans ever because we'll actually have
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: only fans, a fake doctor's real friends, doing sexual exciting.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: Do you want to come back when the couple bangs
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: on the show, and you're welcome to join us those
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: podcasts has companies just changed a lot since last We're
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: trying to tone back. We're trying to we're trying to
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: trim back the sexual talk of tiny bit. But in
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: this context, why do people write in? Do people comment? No,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: nobody nobody's really ill complain. People don't complain about the
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: R rated stuff that much joking faces hold up, Joel.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: They don't know. They don't complain about that. I think
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: they love it. I get come. I got a woman
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: who berated me for talking about how I was starving
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: myself and and drinking smoothies to lose weight. She said
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: that I should be more responsible for because children have
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: eating disorders. And I completely respect that, But I also
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: feel like I should be able to say, like, I
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: don't follow me. I don't have the healthiest diet in
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: the world. I'm just sharing what I do. But I mean,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: by all means, I respect that that young people, people
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: of all ages have. I got. I got. I got
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: two letters. This one was polite and one was not
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: so polite. One was polite, like, hey, listen, guys. I
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: know that you're very busy and you guys have your
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: own lives and stuff like that, but a lot of
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: us really look forward to when the show comes out.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: So if you guys would not take breaks in between shows,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: that would be great. Like if you could just if
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: you always did Tuesdays and Thursdays, that'd be great. Right,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: and then and then and then he goes, and this
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: was this Thursday. And remember the past episode dated late?
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: It posted late. And so then an hour later I
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: get another one. Oh never mind, it's I see that
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: you posted late. Right, that's the first one. The second
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: one is like, that's really fucking rude. Man, what the fuck? Man?
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: Don't you know how much I fucking need this shit?
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Fuck y'all for this? And then an hour later I apologize,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I see you posted late? Is that? Why? Is that
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: why you texted us like early in the morning, like
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: the show didn't post. Yeah, that's exactly why. But that's
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: so cute how much it means to people and how
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: much they're counting on it. People are very into the show,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: and we're very grateful about it. But man, so I'm
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: always surprised too, Sarah, Like people are we have the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: most incredible fans and people really really love this for
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: some reason. I'm very very very very surprised and very grateful.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: We have a fan caller, speaking of which we're gonna
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: gonna break, Sarah, would you like to toss to break?
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I would love to. What you're gonna say. What you're

- 1:22:05Speaker 1: it's it's a it's a car is. Hold on, hold on,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. I'm not gonna get her. I'm
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: just gonna ask her. Oh my god, oh my god.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: Donald has a real doctor's fake fake fake doctor's real
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: friends when I want to learn the name of the podcast, Sarah.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: But yes, Sarah, do you want one of those? Will
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: you wear it around? Are you kidding me? Right now?
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I want one? I want to I want a zach
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: and DoD ones you if you send me a picture
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: of you in the fake doctors real friends Onesie mombo taxi?
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Did you have a mambo taxi? I did not because
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: we were going to my son's first communion, so I
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: thought i'd been you didn't want to be hammered at
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: ventilations well, even though I'm not Catholic, But no, you
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: probably had the mombo taxi before. I think I had
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: a one time many years. What's in a mambo taxi?
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's like it's it really is
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: like it's like a delicious tangy shirt Heberty type of
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: sugar alcoholic and it gets you so drunk, like well,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: it's a sangria and a margarita. Mixed together. So good,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: You're not too bad? Hangover all that Sugar Hurting List
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: had a mambo taxi. Oh my god. All right, dude,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: welcome to the program, Jamie. Do you have a question
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: for any of us? Yeah? In fact, and a couple
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: of podcasts ago, you mentioned how much you were into cinematography. Yes, sir,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: so my question for the group is what movie has
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: the best cinematography? How could you possibly ask that question?
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Gordon state? Yes, Sarah, good answer. The best photograph movie
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: of all time? Thank you. Although that film was photographed
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: by Larry Sure, who I like to think I discovered
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: because then he went on to become famous. Now he's
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: very famous. He's had a lot of big movies, but
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: the Joker has made him. And I'll chernomine. Oh I
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: didn't know that. Yeah, who wants to go first? Donald?
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Do you have a feel? I'm sure it's gonna be
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: a Star Wars movie if a favorite sematography film. Yes,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: The Empire Strikes Back is filmed actually very well. If
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: you want to look at any of the Star Wars movies,
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I think that's the most innovative out of all of them.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: From that moment on it, I'm not gonna say it
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: was the same thing over again, but they just figured
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: out a way to. I mean before that, everything was
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: really slow, and then the Empire Strikes Back happens and
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: everything is ramped up and it's really fast and the
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: action is fast paced, and so I'm gonna go Empire
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: strikes Backe part. So it's one of the first tracking
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: shots of something that isn't real, Like they developed that shot.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Just the Tanton running in the snow in the beginning
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: is something that's never been done before. It had never
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: been done before, and they had to figure it out
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: at ILM. Just putting it out there, all right, Sarah,
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: do you have a favorite movie in terms of cinematography.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's been the years since I've watched it.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: Definitely deserves a rewatch. But I remember at the time
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: being obviously so Mind buln By Eternal Sunshine of the
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Spotless Mind. Yeah, that's a great one. What a beautiful
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: movie that is. We didn't say that about Empire Strikes Back,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: And I'm very disappointed. Well, I just I really need
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: to be honest. I zoned out. I was like, I'm
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: gonna let him do a solid two minutes on sorrow,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: so should face. The first thing that popped into my
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: head was the movie Manhattan. It's black and white, it's
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: a it's a Woody Allen movie. I know people have
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: very passionate feelings about Woody Allen and his films now,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: but that doesn't change the fact that it is a
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: beautifully filmed movie. That's That's like the first thing that
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: popped into my head. Similar thing with like Bradford Young,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: who's just like this incredible cinematographer for you people who
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: are like really into the popular movies, he did so
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: a little bit. Also, what's a director of photography for Selma?
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: But my cinematographer, David Charry, his favorite movie is Mother
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: of George and the way he just shoots like skin,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: which seems silly and maybe weird, but it's just so beautiful.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Everyone is luminescent in the whole movie that has just
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: like gorgeous glow and it's it's really great. I love
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Bradfordy Young's work, Okay, Daniel Joel, I'm writing that down
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Mother of George because I have not. Yeah, definitely check
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: it out. Really powerful movie if I get If I
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: get the chance, I would also say Goodfellas. That's yeah,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: it would be great if you It would be funny
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: if you would. If I get the chance, I'd also
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: like to say Return of the Jedi. You thought it
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: would funny? I would like to give you a second
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: take on that joke. Okay, you're ready, Yeah, god take
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: two go. If I get the chance, I'd like to
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: also say Return of the Jedi. The way they captured
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: that you walk for just there was a just beautiful
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: backlight on the ewalks. Fur ahead, channel your turn the
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: one that comes to mind recently, Blade Runner twenty forty nine.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Shout out, Roger Deakins. You like that? Yeah, I loved it?
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Yea not a lot of really, well, I wasn't. Did
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: you like the movie? The movie was fine, but the
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: experience of watching the movie was unmatched. It's just gorgeous
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: and somebody, Yeah, by the way, you just made me
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: think of another one that I don't know who shot it?
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Will you look up for me, Joel? But mad Max
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: fury Road, Oh so good that the fact that that
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: movie is not only beautifully photographed, if it weren't for
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: what even even even independent of the way they're filming it.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: But there's no green screen and they literally are all
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: flying through the endless desert And did you know that
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: while you're making that face channel, You're right, there's a
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: lot of practical but there's also a ship on the
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: green screen. I'm sure there's a little green screen, but dude,
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: for terms of movies that have that amount of action,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: I've watched behind the scenes featurettes on totally. You could
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: feel that heat when that's ship comes out. You feel
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: that heat. Man, a million examples, But it's always interesting
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: to know what you're brain vomits up. First, for me,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: it became I went Manhattan, oh and downs Good Fellows
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: for some reason that made me think of now, it's
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: probably you down. It's probably when you said Blade Runner
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: because it made me think of a remake or something.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: But anyway, those are our answers. There's a zillion answers.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: I think it's important if you're a film lover to
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: start to get to know cinematographers because they are such
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: an enormous part of the film that you love. I mean,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: directors in varying degrees are are are either super involved
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: in the cinematography or not at all, and so it
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: really is creating the images of the movie you love
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: so much is really a partnership between the director and
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: the cinematographer, and so it's it's take note of of
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: who they are because their their names are important to
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: John Seal is the DP who shot on that. Max. Hey, Jamie,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. What's yours? Well, Zach
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: kind of stole my thunder there with Fury Road. That's
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: not only was it great, real well shot, of course,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: but it's also like my second favorite movie. So that
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: that movie did. It was just such a that's move,
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: such an adrenaline rush. I watch it. I watch it
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: every year just for just because it's so good. All Right,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: what's your next question, Jamie Fullerton? Well, I guess this
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: is a real quick one. Will Ken Jenkins been coming
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: be coming back to Scrubs, to y'all's podcast because the
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: way his podcast episode ended, Oh, that was my favorite,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: the way he ended it, because and if you if,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: if the people out there haven't seen it, Donald's praise,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: Donald's giving him praise just like he's such a great actor.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: He does this, he does that, and Donald and I
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: called him the MVP of the show. That's right. I
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: was like, Ken, you are the MVP. Of the show.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: I mean Donald gave him a very nice thing for
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: a couple and then and then Ken with this with
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: this gravelly voice, says phase On. One of the reasons
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I agreed to come on this podcast was to hear
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: beautiful bullshit like that. Zach was in the background, just
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: shut it off, we're done, and he was. I was like,
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: you can't beat that. We should have him back? Should
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: we have him back? Joel? Will you do me a favor?
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: Do do everyone do Jamie Fullerton and all the listeners
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: a favor? Find out the most Ken heavy episode, and
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: let's ask him is Sarah, do you want to come
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: back when we have Kin on? Yes? All right, I
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: would love it. Oh, I miss Ken. Ken his son
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: was very helpful in orchestrating getting Kin on, and I'm
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: sure help us again because Ken is a barrel of laughs.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Maybe Ken could also helped me with the technical All right, Jamie,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: it's time for everyone in Dallas's favorite segment, it's time
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: too fixy And we also have the beautiful sar Chalk
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: here to help you all the way from Vancouver or
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Van Groovy. Don't they say Van Groovy, Sarah? Van people do? Yeah,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I've heard it called van groovy. Sarah has new color hair. Yah, Sarah,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: what color is that? Oh it's called quarantine cheek. Oh
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: so that's your natural Is that your natural color? This
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: has been a year and four months. You haven't died
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: it in a year? In four months. I like it.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: I haven't also beautiful, I have not died it in
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: a year four months. I also left it a boot. Uh.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: I think it was almost a year, but I hadn't
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: cut it, and I was just like so annoyed with
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: it and done. And my friend was like, if you
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: put it in a ponytail on top of your head
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: and you just cut the end of the ponytail, it
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: kind of makes layers naturally. I did it. I did it,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: and it does not make layers naturally. I didn't have
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: any else. Professional six was that you have no gray. Oh,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: it's like zoom. That's the zoom. I'm sure there's I'm
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: sure there's some in there if I got close enough.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I'm sad to say that my beard is like all
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: great and you can't. I thought that was your white
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: as skin. I thought that was your white ass skin.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: That's not laughing. You're saying that my skin is as
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: white as gray hair. I don't even have any beard
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: on him. Tick head, he's fucking tick All right, let's
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: focus on I know Sarah, he smokes so much pot
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: today he can barely focus. It's Friday, do it, man?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: He does it on a Munday morning a taxi. Jamie,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: you probably don't have legal weed down there yet, right, No,
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: I don't think so, not yet. Yeah. Well, yeah, it's
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: gonna take the southest mentioned longer. But Donald really takes
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: advantage of the recreational legal weed here in California. Go
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: for it, right, you know, I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: I am trying to stop. Well it's not going well,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: it's not I'm failing, all right, Jamie. How can we
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: how can we fix your life? Okay? Now I'm glad
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Sarah's here too, because I have because as a fellow parent,
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: I have a question. Did y'all find having raising when
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: it or having an eight year old to be very difficult?
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: M whenever he gets about eight years old? Is it?
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Is it very always? It's always difficult. I'm just saying
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: it seems to be getting yeah, a little more difficult. Yeah,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: there's started. He's very my son seven. He's very rebellious
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: now and very he's starting to u discover his personality
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: and the things that makes him who he is. And uh,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: he's very funny. He's very uh immature and very loud.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: And when I say immature, I don't mean immature like uh,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: like he's not keeping up. He's immature. Like his jokes,
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: albeit they are a little bit grown for his age,
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: are a little immature. Like you know, what he finds
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: funny is potty jokes and stuff like that. We find yeah, yeah,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: I know, I know, but nothing like a seven year
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: old telling a poop jokes. One of his jokes. He'll
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: be like, knock knock. So okay. So look, we were
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: watching Splash on Disney Plus the other night, and I
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: remember my wife was at the beginning it says this
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: film has been modified because I remember when I was
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: a kid, there's a little bit of booby nipple slippage
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: and splash. Oh I remember Daryl Hannah triggering some things
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: inside me. Right, And so we're watching the movie and
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: they've now covered all of that. So I'm like, great,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: we don't have to worry about it. But then the Swedes.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: The Swedes come to view the Mermaid and I don't
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: know if you guys remembering splash. When the Swedish scientists come,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks, and John Candy pose as these scientists.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: So Eugene Levy returns as the scientists, and then John
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: Candy and Tom Hanks pose as the Swedes, but they
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: don't speak a word of of of Swedish, right of
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: the Swedish language, and the the guy the guard at
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: the gate is the guard at the door is like,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: you know, guys, I gotta be honest with you before
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: you go. And I took Swedish lessons in college and
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: so I am actually kind of fluent. I'd love to
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: practice on you guys. And so he says something and
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: they look at each other and they're like sure, yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: sure yeah, And then they try to walk by and
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: he's like, wait, hold up, hold up, hold up, and
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: then he says something like what are in Swedish? He
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: says in Sweden? He says, what are two guys like
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: you doing in New York this time of year? And
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: John Candy goes in Swedish, hey, babe, you know I
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: have a twelve inch penis, And then they all start laughing.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: My son can read now he's seven, So now everything
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: every joke he tells is knock knock, Hey babe, Hey babe,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Hey babe. Who hey babe. You know I have a
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: twelve inch penis. That's problematic. So Jamie, all you gott
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: is watch Splash with your kids. They're always gonna be
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: They're always gonna be that way, dude. They're always going
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: to be difficult, is my point. You're never ever gonna
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: be comfortable in this situation as your dad. Your best job,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: your best thing you can ever do, the best thing
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: you can do is try to raise a good person.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: And they're going to annoy the shit out of you.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: But you got a persevere You're the adult. You're in
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: charge that by you. Sorry, you got any child advice? Child? Real? Well, okay,
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: so Jamie, tell me what is it specifically that's happening
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: right now. Well, it's just a lot of times he uh,
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: we need him to do something and he just starts
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: to try to make jokes. He tries to just blow
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: it off. I'll give you an example. Yesterday, his mom
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: wanted him to put away some clothes, you know, just
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: as something simple, and he was playing on his switch.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: So I told him, hey, and she said it twice.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: He didn't do it. I said, hey, hit pause on it,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: and you know, get these clothes put away. He says,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: there's no pause button. I'm like, wait, you say, I
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: know how this thing works. You hit when you hit
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: this button and it pauses. Yeah, but daddy, it doesn't
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: say pause. What's it matter? Just smart kids? Smart kid, kid,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: you can't be mad at that. You can't trying it.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: I'm guessing at that age they're trying exactly exactly. It's like, Sarah,
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: go ahead, Sarah, You've got Canadian's best here ahead. I
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: think you know It's it's at every age there's just
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: like another another challenge, and it just you're always one
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: step behind, right because you know, I have a four
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: year old and an eleven year old, and obviously like
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: at every age, it's like, oh, I have never parented
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: that age before and dealt with these challenges and keep
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: in mind like you're not just dealing with an eight
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: year old. You're dealing with an eight year old who's
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: in quarantine in a you know, completely unprecedented pandemic. So
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: the things that are coming up, I mean, I feel
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: like you know, uh, certainly in our household, it's that
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: you know, that balance of like you're trying to uh
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: set limits and also be compassionate for what they're going
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: through because it's certainly we did not have to go
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: through anything like this, and they're under so many challenges
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: to wrap their brains around what's happening and trying not
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: to absorb our stress over it. But what came to
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: light for me in this pandemic was, like I thought
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I was like doing all of the things that I
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: thought were important in terms of making my kids contribute
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: in the house and doing things like you're talking about,
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: like can you fold this laundry? Can you do that?
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: But life is so busy and it wasn't until it
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: all of a sudden settled that I was like, oh shit,
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: we're actually not doing nearly as much as I thought
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: we were of that. So we made that a huge
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: priority at the being in the pandemic. Who got chore
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: charts and if you don't like you know, there's there's
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: laundry and vacuum and you know, dishes and whatever, And
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: if you don't do your chore, then you have to
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: swap out someone else can pick your chore the next
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: time and make you do the bad chore, which take
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: the compost. It's like a reality show. I like that.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: It's like a reality And yeah, we just sort of
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: had ship get real, like, you know we I think
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: I thought I was saying no more than I was,
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: and I realized I have to do that more, which
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: is not always been my strong right. How do you
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: feel about, say, that's a good question. How do you
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: feel about saying no? Like I have a I don't
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: I don't mind saying no, but I have a problem
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: saying no, you know what I mean? Like I have
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: an issue with being like, you can't do that. I
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: you know, it's interesting. I really thought I was great.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: I thought I was good at it. I thought I
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: actually did that until I realized that I didn't. And
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: so that's been a huge thing. Is like more boundaries
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: more no, I think, you know, obviously as they get
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: bigger and bigger. Actually that's not true when they're a
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: little too. Structure is so key and so important and
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: feeling the you know, the walls and the boundaries because
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: they're always looking for them and if you don't put
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: them there, then they're gonna just test, test, test, Okay,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: well what if I can never find the pause button
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: on my switch? And yeah, yeah, you got you gotta
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: you gotta take charge, man, Like put the game away.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: That's what we're learning. What you know. We put the
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: game away for a bit, and because we were realizing
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: that he was doing things for the game, like everything
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: he was doing was just so he could play the game,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: and it was like, uh, we're gonna take the game
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: completely away. So now everything you're doing is because you're
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: doing it. And then every now and then we'll let
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: him play and it's so much more rewarding. And then
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: I don't have a hard time being like, get off
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: the game, because he knows. If he says, hold one second,
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: can I get five minutes? Yeah, he's never gonna play
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: that shit again. It's always a negotiations. There's never like
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: it's always like, but how about okay, ten more minutes? Kay,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: five more minutes. I say, I'll give you five more minutes,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: but then you can never play again. Okay, I'm done.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Good idea excellent? All right, Well Jamie, you're welcome. Thanks, guys,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: you're welcome. You're welcome. You're well so welcome. You can
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: stay on because you're you're delightful and we love Texas
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: and I think we're done. Guys, we did the show.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: I want to just say one last thing. A Looma
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: was fire in this episode. Yeah five, you're out out
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: right and we we hear you fans, and and you
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: said it a lot and I see it. And Joel
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: is going to be on it. We want to book
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Bob Plindennen. We want to book Johnny Castle, and we
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: want to book right Alma, right sorry, and we want
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: to book Kennigan. Mh. Maybe we do all three of those,
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: uh favorite secondary characters on the same episode. That could
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: be fun. That would be a lot of fun. Actually.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: I also want to shout out to Judy when she
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: said you don't have that cookie. We're getting a divorce right, Yeah?
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: And I like I like it when when Kelso says
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: to the guy who's given all the money regarding his
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: son who had the light bulb up his ass, he goes,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Lyle might be ready for that rough sex talk you
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: had with your other boys. I just love the name
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: name is Lyle. This is a funny oh. And then
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: and then Zach jumping around with the movers on the
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: bubble Rap Yeah, I was gonna say this. You look
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: like you were lifting weights back then came back and
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: you came back into season four and shape you had
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: getting some triceps there. Yeah, I'm trying to get back there.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I was there, I was. I had some nice definition
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: with you. See when I put that that whatever that
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: thing is the movers where that supports around your waist,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: I had that on. Look good, I'd hit it. All right.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: We love you everybody listening. Thank you for for tuning in. Sarah.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: I don't know what to say. The amount of love
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: that Donald and I have for you is just too much.
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: I'm really excited for your new show. Yes, I'm plug
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: your time for everybody. It comes on tomorrow Wednesday. Guys, Donald,
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: you don't remember the title name to you? Yeah, I do.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: What is it called? Uh, it's called Scrubs. We rot
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: show kids were try and do like a charades for
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: Donald and acted up kids, not even once? All right again, Sarah,
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: your it's Firefly Lane, Firefly Lane. Pa. You guys know
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. You're gonna do the same thing you
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: do every night. You're gonna be scrolling through Netflix, scrolling
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: through all the other services. Going no, no, no, and
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: you're gonna think of my voice going firefly lane. No,
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna think of Sarah's voice going firefly lane. It's
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: way better, right, fly lane. Well, I'm gonna think of
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: Zach's voice actually now because it was a little Sarah
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: Sarah self selling in a seductive voice for the listen. Okay, sorry,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: don't there's ain't only fans say it in French, sir,
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: it ain't only fans yet Netflix. I will watch it, Sarah.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: When you were do they ever ask you to dub
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: yourself in French? Because they should because you can do it.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: They they haven't and I have offered, So I don't
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: know if I should be offended. They don't want to
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: ge check. They don't want to check. I need to.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: I need to find some way to make sense of
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: my life that I went to school in French all
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: day from the age of five to eighteen, and to
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: German school after school. So I was like, if you want,
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: I'll do the dubbing in French and German and then
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: they didn't call. What's the most you've had to use
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: your German or your French? Have you had to be
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: like other than like vacationing to places where they speak
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: said languages. What it's like, the most you've ever had
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: to use it? Had it come in handy once. I
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: feel like I have to thank Bill Lawrence for that,
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: because I think the most I've had to use this
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: on scrubs, you know, Bill, Bill would write it into
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: the show and and I would have to what about
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: when you do? That was one of my God, that
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: was one of my That was one of my favorite
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: skits that we did. Uh skits that we did when
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: we were standing in front of the International Press junket
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: and Zach steps up and says, Sarah, you know we're
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: because we're international, we brought our own translator and he
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: brought you up. And so Zach says some very nice
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: things about the show and when we'll be coming on,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: and he goes, now, Sarah, and then you said, and
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: then you said it in French, and then everybody applauds,
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: and then Zach goes, now German and then everybody laughs.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: And then you did it in German and everybody applauds.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: And then me, being the dumb ass that I am,
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: I grabbed the microphone and said, and now any bonnics
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: for shizzle nizzle. I forgot about that, all right. No
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: Sarah's supposed to do it, Daniel, No, Daniel, no Sarah.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: Go ahead about we made a n sories. Gather around
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: you here, aub, gather around you here. Abscrst me while
