- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Dude, they said I got to come off the bench.

- 0:12Speaker 3: Cane Studio.

- 0:57Speaker 5: who typically joins us at 8 we'll join us at
- 0:59Speaker 5: 8 15 because well baton rouge is baton russian right
- 1:02Speaker 5: now with the traffic that got caught in it as
- 1:05Speaker 5: well it's all over so if you're out there please
- 1:07Speaker 5: stay safe and uh don't do what we did to
- 1:11Speaker 5: get here this morning on time it's not legal what
- 1:15Speaker 5: do you mean i know me.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I jumped over jumped over a curb and maybe went
- 1:20Speaker 1: to the uh the deepest shade of red when it
- 1:23Speaker 1: turned red It's okay. Let's turn left, though.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fine.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You can turn left on her, Ed.
- 1:28Speaker 6: Not all the laws are in play before 7, right?
- 1:30Speaker 7: No, because I didn't see any police out, so I
- 1:33Speaker 7: don't think it counts.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Depends on how late you are.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Like, if they're not out, I don't think you're good.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Just put your flashers on and do it.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Nope.
- 1:40Speaker 7: That, nope.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Draw the attention to yourself?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43Speaker 1: God, you're a noob.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You don't know how to break the law.
- 1:46Speaker 1: What a loser.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Now people will see and be like, oh, that guy
- 1:51Speaker 4: must be an emergency.
- 1:53Speaker 2: This guy doesn't know how to drive. We're going to
- 1:54Speaker 2: let him go.
- 1:56Speaker 7: What if this is just like Lane and Greg doing
- 2:00Speaker 7: like a publicity stunt?
- 2:02Speaker 3: You know, Lane loves the publicity.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Trying to get the eyes.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Viewerships.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I'm just trying to make it to where Greg Sankey
- 2:09Speaker 3: doesn't look like a little bee.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's going to be hard.
- 2:13Speaker 1: If they take it to a vote, it takes 11.
- 2:15Speaker 1: 11 out of the 16. I wonder what Ole Miss
- 2:19Speaker 1: will vote.
- 2:20Speaker 4: To happen.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I mean, they're not the only ones.
- 2:24Speaker 4: But yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure most of the schools probably want
- 2:28Speaker 3: LSU out the SEC.
- 2:32Speaker 7: Like, what does it benefit every other school to have
- 2:36Speaker 7: LSU in the SEC?
- 2:39Speaker 6: I know we weren't going to talk about it, but
- 2:42Speaker 6: if they kick them out, it just basically tells everybody,
- 2:44Speaker 6: don't get too good.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I get it. We've only won one game. I got it.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I feel like there's some fear out there.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Is it don't get too good or don't challenge authority?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Don't challenge authority. Even though at the end of the day,
- 3:03Speaker 1: you didn't do it.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And then now they're trying to use, yeah, but you
- 3:07Speaker 1: talked to those guys and you kind of told them, hey,
- 3:11Speaker 1: if it doesn't work out here, you should challenge the
- 3:13Speaker 1: rule so you can come play here.
- 3:15Speaker 8: And before you say anything, call Greg, make sure it
- 3:17Speaker 8: doesn't upset him.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Not to mention it wasn't LSU. In the lawsuit, right?
- 3:25Speaker 1: To my original players, yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Players.
- 3:28Speaker 6: And it wasn't, the SEC wasn't named at first anyway.
- 3:33Speaker 6: They were only in this thing for like a week.
- 3:39Speaker 3: What's the better nickname for the commissioner? Greg Wanky or
- 3:42Speaker 3: Greg Spank Me?
- 3:44Speaker 8: Ooh.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Greg Spanky.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Like Wanky's good.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Wanky's pretty good. Stanky. Stanky. Trump called him Sensitive Stanky.
- 3:58Speaker 3: He did. Said he was butthurt.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Said he was butthurt.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I got a 10.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Woo!
- 4:04Speaker 3: Do y'all think the other coaches support Stanky's vendetta? They
- 4:07Speaker 3: all bend the rules.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I got a hard time, like, if I'm trying
- 4:12Speaker 4: to just be realist.
- 4:13Speaker 3: You think Kirby is going to be like.
- 4:15Speaker 6: I got a hard time believing anybody's going to vote
- 4:17Speaker 6: for LSU to get kicked out. Like, that's a bad
- 4:21Speaker 6: precedent to set. And what grounds would anybody have to
- 4:26Speaker 6: vote LSU out? Because they didn't do it. Now, if
- 4:29Speaker 6: they would have rostered them, maybe you get a couple.
- 4:31Speaker 6: But they didn't roster.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If they would have rostered them, then yeah, you would have.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I believe in my heart. Now, this is not on
- 4:40Speaker 1: my brain.
- 4:40Speaker 6: In my heart that other teams would not vote out
- 4:43Speaker 6: LSU because they are going to lean on, you know,
- 4:47Speaker 6: let's just follow the commissioner and do what he wants.
- 4:49Speaker 4: But LSU is getting pretty good. It doesn't help us.
- 4:53Speaker 4: To have LSU here.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But LSU, like, had a run where they were good. So,
- 4:59Speaker 3: I don't think it's, like, a good thing. Like, oh,
- 5:02Speaker 3: LSU's too good. Let's get them out of here. I
- 5:04Speaker 3: think it's just.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I don't think anyone's going to vote.
- 5:06Speaker 3: They hate Lane Kiffin.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that. Like, that's not even coming into. Like,
- 5:10Speaker 1: if you're the SEC, you're the other members of the SEC. Like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the SEC is what it is because the sum of
- 5:16Speaker 1: all of its parts.
- 5:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Because you have these massive brands. You have Texas.
- 5:19Speaker 4: You have Georgia.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You have Alabama. You have LSU. You have. you know,
- 5:23Speaker 1: whoever you want to put into that category, right? You
- 5:26Speaker 1: have all of these massive brands and they're put together.
- 5:28Speaker 1: We like to say an amalgamation of parts put together.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And that's what makes the SEC the SEC, right? And
- 5:35Speaker 1: LSU is a charter member of that conference since 1932, right?
- 5:40Speaker 1: So the history there and all the things. So I
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't think it's going to get to that point. And
- 5:44Speaker 1: if it does over what we're talking about, then we'll
- 5:47Speaker 1: continue to say that's utterly ridiculous. from what actually happened
- 5:52Speaker 1: to what you're trying to get done.
- 5:53Speaker 8: Well, and also, like, everyone wants to talk about, oh,
- 5:55Speaker 8: this is unprecedented. Like, it's hard to kick a member
- 5:58Speaker 8: out and this, this, and this.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Once you kick somebody out once, it becomes easier to
- 6:02Speaker 2: do it again.
- 6:02Speaker 8: So I don't know if these presidents want to throw
- 6:05Speaker 8: that out there and set this type of precedent.
- 6:07Speaker 4: I wouldn't.
- 6:10Speaker 6: I think it's really small-minded because there are a lot
- 6:13Speaker 6: of people saying, like, man, they're going to kick him
- 6:15Speaker 6: out because it's one less strong opponent or it lessens,
- 6:18Speaker 6: it weakens an opponent. I think people are looking for
- 6:21Speaker 6: a competitive advantage that way.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I don't think that's the way.
- 6:25Speaker 6: That's why, like, if that's the reason, I got a
- 6:27Speaker 6: hard time believing they're going to get one yes vote.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Like, yes to expel them?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Like, no one's doing that to kick an opponent out, because...
- 6:37Speaker 6: That weakens an opponent? That's ridiculous to think. The SEC
- 6:41Speaker 6: is going to lose money on this. Some people yesterday say,
- 6:45Speaker 6: you think LSU's brand is bigger than it is. My
- 6:47Speaker 6: question is, who are you going to add that is
- 6:50Speaker 6: equal or better value-wise to college football than LSU if
- 6:53Speaker 6: you kick them out?
- 6:54Speaker 2: Who are you adding?
- 6:56Speaker 1: There were so many people that thought they had the
- 6:58Speaker 1: smartest ideas yesterday on that. I'm talking about national people
- 7:03Speaker 1: that I kind of respect. and they were throwing names
- 7:06Speaker 1: out there. Well, you could replace them with them. If
- 7:07Speaker 1: you think that team and whoever, Florida State, Clemson, whoever
- 7:11Speaker 1: that is, is the same brand.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Florida State can't even pay Norvell's buyout.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Or the light bill.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Or the light bill. You think they got the money?
- 7:16Speaker 1: No, that's why Jimbo left there, because they didn't have
- 7:19Speaker 1: the money. That's why he went to Texas A & M.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I saw North Carolina thrown out there. Basketball, great. Outside
- 7:23Speaker 2: of that, they're not making the kind of money you are.
- 7:27Speaker 4: For real, though. Honestly.
- 7:29Speaker 6: People are saying in the chat, Ole Miss is going
- 7:32Speaker 6: to vote to kick him out.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Take the pettiness aside. Like, are you going to vote
- 7:37Speaker 6: completely on pettiness? Money talks at some point. LSU makes
- 7:40Speaker 6: SEC more valuable, which makes the TV contracts more valuable,
- 7:43Speaker 6: which means everybody gets paid more money, right? If you
- 7:46Speaker 6: look at the football people and decision makers, probably at
- 7:48Speaker 6: every single school, nobody dislikes or hates Lane Kiffin. It's
- 7:53Speaker 6: the people on the outside. It's the boosters. It's the
- 7:55Speaker 6: people that give money. It's the people, it's the fan bases.
- 7:58Speaker 6: They hate, right? They love to hate. That's the beauty
- 8:01Speaker 6: of sports. That's why we love sports because it's easy
- 8:03Speaker 6: to love. It's easy to hate. It's easy to argue.
- 8:06Speaker 6: That's what's a, it stirs up passion in everybody, but
- 8:10Speaker 6: the actual like football people, again, Lane Kiffin is on
- 8:13Speaker 6: a group text with every head coach of the sec
- 8:15Speaker 6: and they're texting right now saying, did you see that?
- 8:18Speaker 4: Did you see that?
- 8:19Speaker 1: Like nobody I've been to spring meetings and spring meetings
- 8:22Speaker 1: down in Dustin is like the best access that you
- 8:24Speaker 1: possibly can have. And I have been in that room
- 8:26Speaker 1: when lane was the old miss coach LSU does not matter. And,
- 8:31Speaker 1: You'll see him with Kirby when Coach Saban was still coaching.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You'll see the athletic directors. They're all at a table together.
- 8:40Speaker 1: They're all together laughing it up.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Him and Dabo look like they were like old war buddies.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Best of buds.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Before the game.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Before the game.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Dabo did mention that they could go 11-1 yesterday. He
- 8:55Speaker 1: did say that. He said, judge me after the season,
- 8:58Speaker 1: not when we lost one game.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Don't ask me super– Basic and relevant questions.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, the coaches all love him, but it's not the
- 9:09Speaker 3: coaches voting.
- 9:10Speaker 4: I mean, it's the football. I mean, are the presidents
- 9:13Speaker 4: going to be that butthurt?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Why?
- 9:16Speaker 6: It's going to affect their university eventually.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 6: It would be a virus if LSU got kicked out
- 9:28Speaker 6: because it would spread.
- 9:34Speaker 1: If that did happen, where are you trying to go?
- 9:39Speaker 1: Fun belt on a Wednesday night?
- 9:40Speaker 3: Let's go run the Pac-12.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Big 12. Big 12, you'd make playoff every year.
- 9:46Speaker 1: ACC too? ACC.
- 9:47Speaker 6: I like the fun belt though. Wednesday night. Taylor gave
- 9:54Speaker 6: me just a nightmare scenario. What if scenario.
- 9:59Speaker 1: What?
- 9:59Speaker 7: When?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Oh, during break.
- 10:02Speaker 8: What if LSU decides to go independent and Notre Dame
- 10:05Speaker 8: takes their place in the SEC?
- 10:07Speaker 2: What's Matt going to do?
- 10:08Speaker 6: I'm going to probably just start a farming community.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Live off the land.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Live off the land forever.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Amish, no TV.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I'm not going to hear from him.
- 10:19Speaker 7: Mm-mm.
- 10:21Speaker 4: All right.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We'll take a break. And when we come back, our guy, Dr.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Stephen Etheridge, made it through the traffic. He is here
- 10:32Speaker 1: with us. We'll have Doc on when we jump back
- 10:34Speaker 1: here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Off the bench.
- 10:38Speaker 4: All right.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Go to russellpools.com. Russell Poole Company, been in the game
- 10:42Speaker 1: since the 1960s here in South Louisiana. And as we
- 10:45Speaker 1: always say, weather conditions here, well, they can be harsh. But...
- 10:49Speaker 1: When you've got a pool built by Russell Pools, they've
- 10:51Speaker 1: been in the game this long. Again, we're talking about
- 10:53Speaker 1: since the 1960s. They know exactly how to build that
- 10:56Speaker 1: pool to make sure that it stands the test of time,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and they're going to customize that pool as well. So
- 11:02Speaker 1: whatever you can dream up, they can build. They'll be
- 11:04Speaker 1: there from the very start to the very end, and
- 11:07Speaker 1: then even after that. What do I mean by that? Well,
- 11:09Speaker 1: they're going to be there to draw up your pool,
- 11:11Speaker 1: build your pool. They're going to be able to obviously
- 11:15Speaker 1: put anything you want on that pool, but when it's done...
- 11:18Speaker 1: They're going to be the maintenance for your pool as well,
- 11:20Speaker 1: so they never go away, RussellPools.com.
- 11:23Speaker 6: If you have been thinking about building a pool, maybe
- 11:26Speaker 6: you have a family, you have young kids, and they're
- 11:29Speaker 6: not getting any younger. They're getting older. You want to
- 11:31Speaker 6: be like the cool house. You want to be where
- 11:34Speaker 6: the kids want to congregate, where they want to hang out. Well,
- 11:37Speaker 6: make sure you're doing it with Russell Pools, the best
- 11:38Speaker 6: custom pool company in all of Louisiana, RussellPools.com.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Welcome back to.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Off The Bench. Wednesday's show is brought to you by Poncho.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I woke up this morning.
- 12:18Speaker 9: All right, welcome back in.
- 12:20Speaker 1: OTB here live from the Raising Cane's studio. Now joined
- 12:43Speaker 1: by our guy, Dr. Steven Etheridge. Doc, future sex love
- 12:47Speaker 1: sounds is 20 years old yesterday. It's pretty crazy to
- 12:50Speaker 1: think about.
- 12:51Speaker 6: 20.
- 12:51Speaker 9: They're definitely, you know, growing up when I did, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 9: that was when the NSYNC had kind of gotten big. And,
- 12:59Speaker 9: you know, I loved to make fun of JT back
- 13:01Speaker 9: then with the kind of crazy curly hair that he had.
- 13:05Speaker 9: And it was hard to kind of embrace that, you know,
- 13:06Speaker 9: he's actually, you know, a pretty cool dude. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 9: as a guy, you know, because. I was trying to
- 13:11Speaker 9: be macho back in the day. You look at this
- 13:12Speaker 9: little skinny guy with Jerry curl hair, and you're making
- 13:15Speaker 9: fun of him and saying, gosh, this guy, why do
- 13:16Speaker 9: girls like him?
- 13:17Speaker 1: And then you kind of say, okay, he's got some
- 13:20Speaker 1: pretty good swag.
- 13:21Speaker 9: He's not so bad. Once he went on SNL a
- 13:23Speaker 9: couple times, made some funny jokes. I was like, okay,
- 13:25Speaker 9: this guy's okay.
- 13:27Speaker 1: There was a song about something in a box. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: the box. I think that was a turning point.
- 13:30Speaker 9: I was like, okay, I can get behind this dude
- 13:32Speaker 9: at this point.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I think you're right. Last Saturday was fun as we
- 13:36Speaker 1: finally get away from LSU versus the SEC here for
- 13:39Speaker 1: a little bit. Um, probably pretty cool to be down
- 13:41Speaker 1: there on the sidelines for that one.
- 13:43Speaker 4: It was great. It was great.
- 13:44Speaker 9: I mean, I will say, I don't know that I've
- 13:46Speaker 9: ever been on a sideline that was as energized at times,
- 13:50Speaker 9: borderline chaotic pregame, especially the pregame was, was, it was awesome,
- 13:54Speaker 9: but it was crazy. And, and, and in mind, that
- 13:56Speaker 9: was after, you know, that two hour delay, I was thinking, okay,
- 13:58Speaker 9: some of these people are going to go home, especially
- 14:00Speaker 9: some of these, you know, you know, big, big time,
- 14:02Speaker 9: famous people that we had everywhere.
- 14:04Speaker 1: They're not going to sit around for two hours. They,
- 14:06Speaker 1: they did. It was, it was everybody nuts. Everybody did. I, I, Typically,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I like to go down there because I like to
- 14:11Speaker 1: talk to the assistant coaches and like to if I
- 14:15Speaker 1: know somebody on the other team, just to kind of
- 14:16Speaker 1: get a feel for it before we call the game,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you know, see if I can get something for the broadcast.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And I went down there because I wanted to see
- 14:22Speaker 1: Rich Passaccia, who was a special teams coordinator for us
- 14:25Speaker 1: in San Diego. He's now that for Clemson. So I
- 14:28Speaker 1: went down there and I was like, I'm going to
- 14:30Speaker 1: get in and I'm going to get out. because if
- 14:32Speaker 1: I get down there, it's going to be hard to
- 14:33Speaker 1: get back up to the booth. And it was chaotic.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And I'm talking about like, as soon as that 90
- 14:38Speaker 1: minute clocks actually started, it became chaotic. It was crazy.
- 14:43Speaker 9: We, we always go, we do what's called a medical
- 14:44Speaker 9: timeout before every game where we meet with the other teams,
- 14:47Speaker 9: medical staff. And we talk about, you know, this is
- 14:49Speaker 9: how we're going to handle these emergencies. You know, this
- 14:51Speaker 9: is where our EMS is set up. This is where
- 14:53Speaker 9: we have x-rays. This is just kind of going through,
- 14:55Speaker 9: this is where everything is. And this is what we're
- 14:57Speaker 9: going to do if something happens. And we, we typically
- 14:59Speaker 9: go to their locker room for it. So, We have
- 15:01Speaker 9: to rush out there. We usually do it somewhere around 30,
- 15:04Speaker 9: 45 minutes. And trying to get through the crowd to
- 15:06Speaker 9: get to their locker room and then getting back, I mean,
- 15:08Speaker 9: it was crazy.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Again, I've never seen anything like it.
- 15:11Speaker 6: It didn't affect you in how you do your job,
- 15:15Speaker 6: did it?
- 15:15Speaker 1: It did not.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Okay, good. Because it was pretty wild out there. And
- 15:20Speaker 4: I wasn't there. I was watching. But, my God, it
- 15:23Speaker 4: was pretty incredible scenes.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I can't remember. Do you all come down with the
- 15:27Speaker 6: team or are you already there?
- 15:30Speaker 4: Off the buses.
- 15:30Speaker 1: For the buses, no. We're already there. So we get there.
- 15:33Speaker 1: That way we have everything set up.
- 15:34Speaker 9: Because, you know, guys sometimes need something right when they
- 15:36Speaker 9: get in, treatments and things like that. So we usually
- 15:39Speaker 9: have one or two of our trainers that come with
- 15:41Speaker 9: them that are on the team bus, but we're already there.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Well, how did the game go from a, I guess a...
- 15:45Speaker 6: just an overall injury standpoint, it looks like LSU is
- 15:48Speaker 6: pretty much the hammer, not the nail. So we probably
- 15:50Speaker 6: should be more worried about the guys on the other sideline,
- 15:52Speaker 6: but everything pretty, pretty standard.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, it was a pretty clean game.
- 15:56Speaker 9: You know, there, there, there was not a lot of
- 15:57Speaker 9: stoppage for, for our guys, which is what we hope for.
- 16:00Speaker 9: You know, I tell people all the time, I'd love
- 16:02Speaker 9: to be bored. You know, I love sitting there having
- 16:04Speaker 9: nothing to do during a game. You know, there were
- 16:06Speaker 9: a couple of injuries on the other side and I,
- 16:08Speaker 9: you know, wish those guys the best, you know, we
- 16:10Speaker 9: never want to see it for either side. You know, that's, that's,
- 16:12Speaker 9: it's never something anybody wants. And, Fortunately, this one, we
- 16:15Speaker 9: came out of it pretty clean. There's always little things, but.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Oh, I do have a question for you.
- 16:19Speaker 6: There is a, is there anything that, um, what would
- 16:24Speaker 6: you prescribe for somebody like in a power position, get
- 16:26Speaker 6: his feelings hurt?
- 16:27Speaker 4: That's a big injury. It's on some of your feelings.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 9: Apparently feelings have become a big topic. There's gotta be
- 16:37Speaker 9: something we can do. And I, you know, I, I
- 16:39Speaker 9: don't know. I, I've, I've, kind of racked my brain.
- 16:41Speaker 6: On yeah all the advances in modern medicine we can't
- 16:44Speaker 6: still can't fix hurt feelings.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Hurt feelings are people lash out like yes.
- 16:48Speaker 6: Like children children when they get their feelings hurt my
- 16:51Speaker 6: god they just try to say anything to hurt people's.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Feelings there's a lot of going around so i've told
- 16:58Speaker 1: people this and then maybe they don't believe it from
- 16:59Speaker 1: me but when i've been around this team with all
- 17:03Speaker 1: the stuff things if you were going on around them
- 17:07Speaker 1: a lot of people ask, are they distracted? Are they
- 17:09Speaker 1: thinking about those things? I said when I spoke with
- 17:11Speaker 1: the team, no, not at all. I mean, they were
- 17:15Speaker 1: focused on that day. They were focused on that practice.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It didn't look like a team that had any distractions.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You are literally on the sideline for the game, and
- 17:24Speaker 1: that looked like a team that didn't have any cares
- 17:27Speaker 1: in the world outside of beating the hell out of Clemson.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Is that the same feel that you get being around them?
- 17:31Speaker 9: Yeah, 100%. I think it's funny. I have you know,
- 17:34Speaker 9: I have my different, we all have our little group
- 17:36Speaker 9: chats on our phone. I have some with some of
- 17:37Speaker 9: my friends from, you know, my background being a Florida
- 17:40Speaker 9: State guy, history not being from here. So a lot
- 17:42Speaker 9: of guys around the country that I've known is in
- 17:44Speaker 9: med school and other people. So people that are of
- 17:45Speaker 9: different fan bases and they're all, you know, kind of like, gosh,
- 17:48Speaker 9: this has got to be, I was like, y'all, the
- 17:49Speaker 9: more the better. Honestly, from a football standpoint, I mean,
- 17:52Speaker 9: am I tired of hearing about all the nonsense, the
- 17:53Speaker 9: outside stuff?
- 17:55Speaker 2: I am, yes.
- 17:56Speaker 9: This is galvanizing. It is something that I truly think
- 17:59Speaker 9: this team Not only do they not pay attention to
- 18:01Speaker 9: the noise, but I think it's more that they grow
- 18:03Speaker 9: strength from the doubters. One of the things that made
- 18:07Speaker 9: Jordan great is he would always find something.
- 18:09Speaker 1: He would find that something to give him the edge.
- 18:11Speaker 9: He would say, that guy, he talked that one time,
- 18:13Speaker 9: he made that one comment 18 years ago, I remember that,
- 18:16Speaker 9: and he's going to hold on to that. And the
- 18:18Speaker 9: greats do that, and I think great teams do that.
- 18:20Speaker 9: I think right now they're taking all this, and thus
- 18:23Speaker 9: far I don't feel like it's been a distraction for
- 18:24Speaker 9: the players.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Maybe everybody else, but they're doing just fine.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Doc, what I saw Saturday night was a testament to
- 18:30Speaker 6: training camp. Now, we've talked so much about on this show,
- 18:33Speaker 6: training camp. We've asked you about past training camps before
- 18:36Speaker 6: this one, specifically the last couple of years. Well, I
- 18:40Speaker 6: could tell from pad level, from contact, how they played
- 18:43Speaker 6: in the trenches, just the conditioning about how well training
- 18:47Speaker 6: camp went. Now, that has a lot to do with,
- 18:50Speaker 6: you know, of course, the coaches, starts with the coaches,
- 18:52Speaker 6: starts with Lane and his staff and the, But it's
- 18:55Speaker 6: also about the players. And it's also about being pretty
- 18:57Speaker 6: fortunate when it comes to injuries as well to make
- 19:00Speaker 6: sure everybody is out there. Man, it looked like LSU
- 19:02Speaker 6: was 100%, which is not always the case when you
- 19:06Speaker 6: go into week one because of training camp. But, man,
- 19:09Speaker 6: they looked in shape. And I know you had talked
- 19:11Speaker 6: about how good training camp was, how fast it was,
- 19:14Speaker 6: how impressed you were throughout this entire process. But, man,
- 19:18Speaker 6: did it shock you to see at all how LSU
- 19:22Speaker 6: came out and performed?
- 19:24Speaker 9: I wouldn't say shocked, but I think it definitely is
- 19:27Speaker 9: a testament to what these guys have been doing. Because
- 19:29Speaker 9: your point, the players got to do it first.
- 19:30Speaker 1: They got to buy in.
- 19:31Speaker 9: Now, it starts at the top with Coach Kiffin, the
- 19:33Speaker 9: way he runs his practices, the way that we do everything.
- 19:36Speaker 1: There's a purpose.
- 19:36Speaker 9: There's a high tempo with Coach Savage and the strength
- 19:39Speaker 9: and conditioning guys.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Obviously, they've done a great job.
- 19:42Speaker 9: So my hat's off to all of them. But the
- 19:44Speaker 9: players got to take the credit, too. They have to
- 19:46Speaker 9: buy into it. You can give the message over and
- 19:48Speaker 9: over and over, and you can tell guys, to do
- 19:50Speaker 9: this and you can even force them to to do
- 19:52Speaker 9: the workouts but at the end of the day they
- 19:54Speaker 9: have to buy in it's a lot of a mindset
- 19:55Speaker 9: and they've got it you know and i know i
- 19:57Speaker 9: know on the other sideline just from talking to people
- 19:59Speaker 9: that i know that were on the other side kind
- 20:01Speaker 9: of watching them i mean they were gassed they were
- 20:04Speaker 9: sucking eggs and i i never saw that from our
- 20:06Speaker 9: guys i mean they looked You know, a couple guys tired,
- 20:09Speaker 9: a couple guys maybe, you know, towards the end of
- 20:10Speaker 9: the game maybe cramping up a little bit here and there,
- 20:12Speaker 9: things you're going to see early in the season. But
- 20:14Speaker 9: it's a testament to the conditioning and to hydration, of course.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Of course. You said the word cramping.
- 20:21Speaker 7: No.
- 20:21Speaker 1: It doesn't happen at LSU. No rain and no cramping.
- 20:24Speaker 4: No, just different.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That's actually my next question. Good segue there. I was
- 20:29Speaker 1: going to ask, what do you do in a delay
- 20:32Speaker 1: that's that long? for like for, for y'all, for your standpoint,
- 20:36Speaker 1: like you want to make sure the hydrator, you want
- 20:38Speaker 1: to make sure that they don't tighten up after stretching
- 20:40Speaker 1: and all those different things. So like for y'all, what
- 20:42Speaker 1: was that two hours like? Yeah, it's, it's hard. Cause
- 20:45Speaker 1: there are certain things you even want to do.
- 20:46Speaker 9: Like even something as simple as getting a guy taped
- 20:49Speaker 9: or some of the guys that maybe we're going to
- 20:50Speaker 9: give them some extra fluids and things like that. You
- 20:52Speaker 9: kind of have a clock in your head of when
- 20:54Speaker 9: you want to do these things, you don't write. And
- 20:55Speaker 9: then all of a sudden it gets messed up, you know,
- 20:57Speaker 9: it gets, it gets changed, it gets altered and you
- 20:59Speaker 9: don't know for how long, you know, it's the most
- 21:01Speaker 9: frustrating thing. Cause you know, so I think, I think
- 21:03Speaker 9: the biggest thing is, is, you get the guys off
- 21:05Speaker 9: their feet. You don't want them, you don't want that
- 21:07Speaker 9: adrenaline getting too high. You don't want them to kind of,
- 21:10Speaker 9: you know, kind of get all that energy out and then,
- 21:11Speaker 9: then they're kind of fatigued. So you want to get
- 21:13Speaker 9: them off their feet. You want to make sure they're
- 21:14Speaker 9: hydrated and eating well, you know, and trying to kind
- 21:16Speaker 9: of slow the process down, you know, and, and for
- 21:18Speaker 9: those that, I mean, the, these lightning delays, every time
- 21:22Speaker 9: you have a lightning strike within eight miles, it resets
- 21:24Speaker 9: this 30 minute clock.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And most of the time you talk about a lot
- 21:26Speaker 1: in baseball.
- 21:27Speaker 9: Some, I mean, I felt like I was at a,
- 21:29Speaker 9: a regional baseball tournament.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. That's, that's what it felt like.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:34Speaker 9: And because that happens all the time in the spring,
- 21:35Speaker 9: especially when we're hosting these regionals, the super regionals, it
- 21:38Speaker 9: is the most frustrating thing. Because every time you see
- 21:40Speaker 9: that clock go back to 30 minutes, it's like, oh,
- 21:42Speaker 9: no lightning.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And then it'll get down and hit it again. So
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's frustrating. You don't really know.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Doc, I've never really been over there, but how bad?
- 21:49Speaker 6: I'm sure you have, maybe because you know people over there.
- 21:52Speaker 6: You had to go over there for some sort of something.
- 21:54Speaker 6: How bad is the visitor locker room? It's pretty bad.
- 21:57Speaker 1: You never been in there?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Oh, I've never been over there.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Oh man. It's special. It is bad. We did a
- 22:03Speaker 1: high school deal. Like when I was at Evangel, we like,
- 22:05Speaker 1: we practiced here like a walkthrough in tiger stadium and
- 22:09Speaker 1: that's where we dressed and it looks the exact same.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And I hadn't been in high school in a long time.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It's, it's, but I will say this, that is not
- 22:18Speaker 1: anything that's unique.
- 22:18Speaker 9: At all across the sec everywhere. And I don't, I
- 22:21Speaker 9: don't think we have a good visitors locker room, you
- 22:23Speaker 9: know what I mean? So there's some that are better
- 22:25Speaker 9: than others. Um, I can't think of one that's great.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Matt, do you remember war Memorial?
- 22:31Speaker 4: That was pretty bad.
- 22:33Speaker 1: That was rough. That was, that was like, they had
- 22:36Speaker 1: to go to Walmart and buy tarps to try to
- 22:38Speaker 1: separate like the training room from the locker room from the,
- 22:42Speaker 1: it was like blue tarps and they put them on
- 22:44Speaker 1: shower curtains. There's again, it's just, that's just a thing,
- 22:47Speaker 1: you know, you're not gonna, you're not gonna make it nice.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You're gonna make it acceptable. That's basically, you don't want
- 22:52Speaker 1: to make it comfortable. You don't want to be comfortable.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And again, that's just, that's gamesmanship. It happens everywhere. And again, that's,
- 22:57Speaker 1: Because people don't complain about our locker room. Yeah, it
- 22:58Speaker 1: is bad.
- 22:59Speaker 9: But, like, I've been in every SEC locker room now.
- 23:02Speaker 9: None of them, none of the visiting locker rooms are nice.
- 23:04Speaker 7: I know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I was trying to think of, like, one that's maybe
- 23:07Speaker 1: nicer than the others. And the fact that it's taking
- 23:10Speaker 1: that long. I mean, I didn't say anything. There are
- 23:11Speaker 1: some that are better.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I don't remember. Honestly, I don't remember any.
- 23:14Speaker 1: The old home one, I think, right?
- 23:15Speaker 9: The Mississippi State one, I was going to say, especially
- 23:17Speaker 9: from a locker room, is probably one of the better ones. Now,
- 23:20Speaker 9: we don't have much space in that one. So, I
- 23:21Speaker 9: always look at it from both the training room and
- 23:23Speaker 9: the locker room. The locker room there is pretty good.
- 23:25Speaker 9: The training room there is pretty small.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Ole Miss is bad. Ole Miss is bad. Georgia's bad.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Georgia's bad. Alabama. I mean, none of them. I mean,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I can't think of a single one.
- 23:34Speaker 9: Texas turns the air off. I will say this, actually. Vanderbilt,
- 23:39Speaker 9: they also changed theirs when they kind of did their
- 23:40Speaker 9: stadium renovations.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Oh, that's right, yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 9: Remember how bad that one used to be? The old
- 23:44Speaker 9: one was bad. I will say the new one, I'll
- 23:46Speaker 9: give them some credit. It's probably, maybe it's the nicest
- 23:48Speaker 9: one now for us. It was actually pretty good, but
- 23:51Speaker 9: we only did that one once.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah. We played this past year. Oklahoma's decent-ish, but.
- 23:56Speaker 6: I honestly, I don't remember any visitor locker room. I
- 23:59Speaker 6: just don't have a memory of it.
- 24:03Speaker 1: The, I just, I know more to your point. I
- 24:06Speaker 1: know more from covering the team and actually playing. I
- 24:09Speaker 1: remember going to games and being folk like, no, none
- 24:12Speaker 1: of them are good. And if you showed me a
- 24:14Speaker 1: picture of it, I'd be like, oh yeah, I remember.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 6: I remember Bama's because I remember having a, I very
- 24:19Speaker 6: vividly remember having a distinct conversation with Bo Pelini in
- 24:22Speaker 6: the locker room after the game.
- 24:23Speaker 1: We'd be after we'd be.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Bama and oh seven.
- 24:25Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Um but other than that i don't like remember like.
- 24:29Speaker 1: How they look i remember nfl ones i think a
- 24:33Speaker 1: little bit more i had my wedding ring stolen out
- 24:36Speaker 1: of my locker when we were at candlestick playing the
- 24:38Speaker 1: 49ers i was like is this the pros what are
- 24:41Speaker 1: we doing here that's kind of crazy who was who
- 24:44Speaker 1: came in here and took wedding rings what are we
- 24:46Speaker 1: doing which is not worth that much really not i
- 24:50Speaker 1: mean yeah worth that effort yeah it's a lot of
- 24:52Speaker 1: metal because it's On this hand, but.
- 24:54Speaker 4: It is. It's not going to fit anybody. Nobody.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's a necklace for most people.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Needed an anklet.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Not for you. Because they're so strong.
- 25:04Speaker 4: I know, dude. That's not good.
- 25:07Speaker 1: All right, Doc. We appreciate you, as always. We certainly
- 25:09Speaker 1: appreciate you fighting the traffic. And I'm glad there's not
- 25:11Speaker 1: a whole lot to talk about from an injury standpoint.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Yeah. Again, hammer, not the nail. And I got a
- 25:17Speaker 6: feeling Elsie's going to be hammering a lot.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I think so.
- 25:21Speaker 9: Like I've said, the intensity has been great. The staff,
- 25:25Speaker 9: I've really been very impressed top to bottom. Everything has
- 25:28Speaker 9: a purpose. I know people outside are giving some of
- 25:31Speaker 9: them grief. I would say that's not the way it
- 25:33Speaker 9: is in the building, though. It's a great place to
- 25:36Speaker 9: be right now.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I will agree with that.
- 25:38Speaker 4: I love it.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That is what I saw as well. All right, we'll
- 25:39Speaker 1: take a break. More OTB when we come back here
- 25:42Speaker 1: live from the Raising Cane Studio. Off the bench. All right,
- 25:46Speaker 1: when it comes to your money, you want a bank
- 25:48Speaker 1: that knows your community, knows your business, and knows you
- 25:52Speaker 1: by name. And that is First American Bank and Trust.
- 25:55Speaker 1: They've been serving Louisiana since 1910 with personal banking, business banking, mortgages,
- 26:00Speaker 1: commercial loans, and much more. They've grown with the times,
- 26:03Speaker 1: but they've never lost that personal service that makes a
- 26:05Speaker 1: local bank different. So find a First American Bank and
- 26:09Speaker 1: Trust location near you. Remember Baton Rouge, Gonzales, Hammond, Houma, Mandeville, Metairie.
- 26:14Speaker 1: They've got them all over. South Louisiana. Go find that
- 26:17Speaker 1: location at FABT.com.

- 26:25Speaker 6: to bank, make sure you're doing it with a local bank.
- 26:28Speaker 4: And I get it.
- 26:29Speaker 6: You know, some of these big national banks, they got
- 26:31Speaker 6: like good websites and well.
- 26:32Speaker 4: First American bank of trust.
- 26:33Speaker 6: They got all the bells and whistles at those big
- 26:36Speaker 6: national banks, but they're making local decisions for you and

- 26:41Speaker 6: So go bank with the best or their first American
- 26:43Speaker 6: bank of trust. FABT.com.

- 26:49Speaker 10: Bye.
- 27:01Speaker 5: I'll let you with me if I misbehave.
- 27:28Speaker 2: It's just that no one makes me feel this way.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Welcome back to Off the Bench. Wednesday's show is brought
- 27:33Speaker 3: to you by Poncho.
- 27:49Speaker 10: All right, welcome back in.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I cannot get Garrett Wobble out of my head now.
- 28:07Speaker 4: I'm being sexy, babe.
- 28:10Speaker 1: She said that.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 28:12Speaker 1: We appreciate Doc.
- 28:13Speaker 4: I'm going to throw.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Some Justified in here. I'm going to throw some Justified
- 28:19Speaker 3: in here.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I mean, you could go song for song every break
- 28:21Speaker 1: from this album of all time.
- 28:23Speaker 4: This album came out when Nip Tuck was popping.
- 28:26Speaker 7: Bro.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Popping.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Popping. Even I remember a little Nip Tuck.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Are you kidding me?
- 28:31Speaker 1: I mean, it used to get announced at practice. Nip
- 28:34Speaker 1: Tuck tonight.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Nip Tuck tonight. Thursday nights.
- 28:38Speaker 1: FX?
- 28:40Speaker 4: FX.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Is FX still a channel?
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 28:43Speaker 1: All right.
- 28:44Speaker 4: It doesn't pop like it used to.
- 28:45Speaker 2: No shot.
- 28:45Speaker 8: I mean, You know how many people still do the cable?
- 28:48Speaker 2: I think you can get FX on Hulu.
- 28:51Speaker 4: FX pushed the limits.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 3: That's where American Horror Story used to be on.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Always Sunny.
- 29:01Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Always Sunny was on there.
- 29:02Speaker 3: My name is Earl.
- 29:04Speaker 4: The Bear. The Bear.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Oh, is that?
- 29:06Speaker 2: I thought that was a Netflix thing.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Okay, so FX is, okay.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And The Bear is on FX.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Basically, I think everyone just watches that on Hulu, though.
- 29:13Speaker 7: Right.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Hulu has the FX.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 29:16Speaker 4: The game within the game, you know? Am I right?
- 29:20Speaker 4: Like the SEC.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Just like it.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Exactly. FX, Hulu, SEC, same thing.
- 29:28Speaker 2: LSU.
- 29:29Speaker 4: LSU.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I'm not saying we're, you know, going to go undefeated
- 29:33Speaker 1: and win a national championship. Now, we certainly look like
- 29:35Speaker 1: a team that has that ability.
- 29:36Speaker 2: We'd be pretty sick if we did that.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Imagine what it'd be like if we did.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Davos. of said that. We might be the best team
- 29:41Speaker 4: in the country.
- 29:42Speaker 1: He did say that.
- 29:44Speaker 3: He said, damn, they whooped my ass. He was like,
- 29:47Speaker 3: I'm not going to lie.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Best team I've ever seen. Fastest kid alive.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Everybody uh but i think everybody in here in this
- 29:55Speaker 1: room certainly a lot of people listening i know we
- 29:57Speaker 1: got some trolls from other schools in the chat and
- 29:59Speaker 1: that's fine we welcome you whatever.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Oh it's good it's fun we love you i like
- 30:02Speaker 3: it but i.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Will say there's some people i'm not saying everybody but
- 30:05Speaker 1: there's some people that in times like this like they
- 30:09Speaker 1: just don't like it like they don't like confrontation they
- 30:11Speaker 1: don't like that somebody's angry with them and they want
- 30:14Speaker 1: to make it better and then they over communicate and
- 30:16Speaker 1: they're trying to fix it well There's people like that
- 30:19Speaker 1: in this world, and I'm not saying there's anything wrong
- 30:20Speaker 1: with it, but there's people like that. LSU athletics is
- 30:23Speaker 1: not like that. LSU athletics thrives in confrontation. LSU athletics
- 30:29Speaker 1: is okay with you not liking them. They just, they are,
- 30:32Speaker 1: they always have been, and I'm not saying like, oh,
- 30:35Speaker 1: look at us, we're so cool. I'm not saying that.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I'm just telling you that during conflict, LSU typically thrives.
- 30:43Speaker 1: No matter what the conflict is, no matter what the
- 30:46Speaker 1: roadblock in front of them is. They've just always done
- 30:49Speaker 1: like that. LSU fans will band together and not care
- 30:53Speaker 1: that all other 15 fan bases hate them.
- 30:56Speaker 4: They don't care about that. They just don't.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So right now, that's what's about to happen. It's about
- 31:03Speaker 1: to be the LSU community against everybody else. And again,
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm not saying in absolutes, but most times during something
- 31:11Speaker 1: like this, when LSU fans have to come together.
- 31:16Speaker 6: That's when LSU is the most dangerous. And look, Doc
- 31:19Speaker 6: just kind of mentioned that a little bit. He used
- 31:22Speaker 6: the word galvanized.
- 31:23Speaker 4: He said that is a galvanized locker room.
- 31:26Speaker 6: So all this other noise, everything that everybody's saying, it's
- 31:29Speaker 6: doing nothing but positive things for the actual team and
- 31:33Speaker 6: the people within that building. So I guess other teams, like,
- 31:39Speaker 6: be careful kind of like what you asked for because
- 31:41Speaker 6: this is a motivated team.
- 31:43Speaker 4: They are coming together.
- 31:45Speaker 6: And they are, you heard Lane Kiffin say it in
- 31:49Speaker 6: his leaked halftime speech. The whole world hates you. So
- 31:53Speaker 6: this is your chance to go tell everybody to f themselves.
- 31:56Speaker 6: It's my favorite part. So I believe it's that mentality
- 32:03Speaker 6: that we are going to see.
- 32:06Speaker 4: The rest of the way.
- 32:07Speaker 6: And if I hope this, this whole conversation keeps up,
- 32:10Speaker 6: I don't know what's going to happen. I doubt they
- 32:12Speaker 6: get one yes vote on Thursday, if it even goes
- 32:15Speaker 6: to a vote. I doubt they get one yes vote
- 32:17Speaker 6: to kick them out of the SEC or to expel them,
- 32:19Speaker 6: whatever they want to say. But I hope they get one.
- 32:25Speaker 6: And I hope it's from Ole Miss, because guess who
- 32:27Speaker 6: will play next week? And I hope it leaks that
- 32:29Speaker 6: they got one from Ole Miss. They should do a
- 32:31Speaker 6: live stream. So, Ole Miss, I would be careful, Mr. President,
- 32:36Speaker 6: at Ole Miss, of voting yes, because LSU goes to
- 32:40Speaker 6: Oxford next week. And by God, if you watched LSU
- 32:43Speaker 6: versus Clemson and then watched your team play Louisville, I
- 32:48Speaker 6: don't think I'd give them any extra motivation. Because they
- 32:53Speaker 6: ain't going to get kicked out. You're not getting 11 votes.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Sorry. I doubt you get one. But if we do
- 32:57Speaker 4: get one, I hope it's Ole Miss.
- 32:59Speaker 3: And Ole Miss don't want to see the ACC.
- 33:02Speaker 4: They don't want to see it.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Last year, you beat Louisiana Tech 23-7. It was ugly.
- 33:10Speaker 1: It was clunky. It was a disgusting game. It was
- 33:15Speaker 1: sitting there. I'm like, thank God I'm getting paid to
- 33:17Speaker 1: watch this. It was bad. With all this going on
- 33:22Speaker 1: right now, with all the talk about LSU, with what
- 33:25Speaker 1: happened last week, with the messaging, I think, from the
- 33:29Speaker 1: coaching staff, you haven't done anything yet, right? Louisiana Tech's
- 33:34Speaker 1: beaten LSU before was a sign, whatever. Louisiana Tech scored
- 33:39Speaker 1: 80 points last week. I don't care who they were playing.
- 33:41Speaker 1: They scored 80 points last week. So they're going to
- 33:43Speaker 1: be confident coming in here, certainly with the way the
- 33:46Speaker 1: game went last year and to what they just did
- 33:49Speaker 1: last week. But Louisiana Tech could catch this wrath. This
- 33:55Speaker 1: doesn't feel like a coaching staff that, and we've been
- 34:00Speaker 1: around coaching staffs like this before, that if once you're
- 34:04Speaker 1: playing a school like this and you kind of get
- 34:06Speaker 1: uncomfortable and it's like take the foot off the gas
- 34:08Speaker 1: and Just coast to victory. We'll worry about next week.
- 34:11Speaker 1: This doesn't have that feel to it. Like, I can't
- 34:15Speaker 1: speak for Charlie Weiss Jr. We haven't seen him in this.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I know Blake Baker. And it doesn't matter who's in there.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Blake's not going to just run, you know, cover two.
- 34:27Speaker 1: He's not going to just run quarters and just play coverage. Yeah, just.
- 34:31Speaker 1: He's not going to do that.
- 34:31Speaker 4: It's like a preseason game. Let's play like that.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It's not going to happen.
- 34:35Speaker 7: And.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Based off what I saw against Clemson, how no matter
- 34:38Speaker 1: who was in at quarterback, they played three different ones.
- 34:40Speaker 1: They were in the offense. If I'm LSU, it doesn't
- 34:46Speaker 1: matter who's in there, I am putting my foot all
- 34:50Speaker 1: the way to the ground. For a lot of reasons,
- 34:53Speaker 1: but you don't want, I think, to let up after
- 34:57Speaker 1: what you did last week. I think you want to
- 34:59Speaker 1: continue to do that. You want to continue that into
- 35:02Speaker 1: Ole Miss. And I think you also want to send
- 35:05Speaker 1: a message to the rest of the country of just
- 35:09Speaker 1: how focused you are because there's been a lot of
- 35:11Speaker 1: people saying you're not going to be focused that aren't
- 35:13Speaker 1: around the program.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I mean, I.
- 35:19Speaker 6: Think this whole thing is certainly motivating. And look, you
- 35:22Speaker 6: as a coach, you have to use the tools around
- 35:25Speaker 6: you to motivate your team every single week. whatever tools
- 35:32Speaker 6: around you, you like the coach Saban used to always
- 35:34Speaker 6: say like, man, I hope I always wished that the opponent,
- 35:38Speaker 6: somebody would say something from the other team leading up
- 35:41Speaker 6: to the game. I always like hope, like I hope
- 35:43Speaker 6: the coach said something that was a little off or
- 35:45Speaker 6: a player tweeted something because I'm going to use that
- 35:48Speaker 6: as motivation. It makes it easy for me to motivate. Now,
- 35:50Speaker 6: if they don't say anything, then it's hard, but well,
- 35:53Speaker 6: LSU has got all the motivation in the world. I mean,
- 35:55Speaker 6: this is, this is one of those deals where.
- 35:59Speaker 4: I think it's already happening.
- 36:01Speaker 6: You can't shelter them from the outside noise because they
- 36:03Speaker 6: all got social media.
- 36:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 4: So they're just like they have the FU mentality.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Do you remember when we played? This is a long
- 36:09Speaker 1: time ago, Matt. We played at Florida in 2004. Do
- 36:13Speaker 1: you remember anything about Coach Saban's speech before that game?
- 36:17Speaker 4: Which game? 2004.
- 36:19Speaker 1: We're at Florida. It's basically Joe Adai beats Florida. Joe
- 36:24Speaker 1: Adai was a beast that game. You know, at the point,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I think Florida was good. We were good. Whatever. Crowd
- 36:30Speaker 1: was great. But Coach Saban, we come back in after
- 36:34Speaker 1: we go out. You come back in, pregame speech, and
- 36:37Speaker 1: you go back out. And he's like, I am so
- 36:41Speaker 1: pissed off. You should be pissed off that they invited
- 36:43Speaker 1: you to play this game here today. They invited you
- 36:47Speaker 1: to this game because they think they can play with you.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I can't believe they showed up. I'm pissed off that
- 36:52Speaker 1: they showed up.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I mean, like, I was like.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Oh my God. Like what?
- 36:56Speaker 4: I feel disrespected. They came to play.
- 36:58Speaker 1: That's what he said. He's like, I'm pissed off that
- 37:00Speaker 1: they showed up thinking they have a chance to play you.
- 37:03Speaker 1: You should be mad that they opened the gate to
- 37:04Speaker 1: let you in this stadium. I'm like, he's creating this.
- 37:09Speaker 4: And it's kind of working for me. What is he
- 37:10Speaker 4: talking about? They're like, okay. Were they not going to
- 37:12Speaker 4: show up ever? Is that an option?
- 37:14Speaker 1: I'll never forget. I mean, looking at him, he's like,
- 37:17Speaker 1: you should be pissed off they opened the gate to
- 37:19Speaker 1: let you in this stadium. I'm like, hell yeah, coach.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I didn't know that was an option, coach, but yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 4: I can't believe they showed up.
- 37:26Speaker 1: To your point, there was nothing there. And he was
- 37:29Speaker 1: trying to search and find it. And he found it
- 37:32Speaker 1: in the most basic way possible. They opened the gate
- 37:36Speaker 1: to let you in their stadium. You should be pissed off.
- 37:39Speaker 1: And I'm like, hell yeah, you should be. I believed it.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And I was a freshman. Maybe that was the reason.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I don't know. But everybody else was fired up. And
- 37:47Speaker 1: we went and ran the football right down their throats
- 37:50Speaker 1: that game. I mean, I don't know that we threw
- 37:53Speaker 1: too many passes that game.
- 37:54Speaker 4: I'll tell you what. And the holder for LSU dominated
- 37:57Speaker 4: Florida's holder.
- 38:00Speaker 2: That's what did it.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Beat his ass.
- 38:04Speaker 7: What about the second decoy signaler?
- 38:09Speaker 6: You might have moved to first by that point. I
- 38:11Speaker 6: might have moved to first decoy. I don't know if
- 38:12Speaker 6: I was decoying at that point. I can't remember. I
- 38:15Speaker 6: think I retired the decoy signals after the natty because
- 38:17Speaker 6: you can't go any higher.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Oh, true.
- 38:20Speaker 7: What was your favorite signal to give? What was your
- 38:22Speaker 7: go-to move? Someone has to have a go-to.
- 38:26Speaker 4: This one. 144 Ohio.
- 38:29Speaker 3: If you were doing it today, you would definitely dabbo.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I would dabbo.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I'm trying to see what we were on field goals
- 38:37Speaker 1: for that game.
- 38:37Speaker 2: I saw one.
- 38:38Speaker 1: We were one for three.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Oof. Hey, hey.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Can't kick it, too. I can't kick it, too.
- 38:44Speaker 2: One by three points, too.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I did my job.
- 38:47Speaker 4: I did my job.
- 38:47Speaker 2: We were one for three. Check the PATs. Oh, my gosh.
- 38:52Speaker 2: One by three points?
- 38:53Speaker 4: Who's kicking that day?
- 38:54Speaker 1: Chris Jackson.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Come on, Chris.
- 38:56Speaker 1: One for three. He was a 47-yarder.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Over there thinking about baseball.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Ryan Goday actually did the extra points, and then Chris
- 39:03Speaker 1: Jackson did the field goals. And Chris Jackson punted that day, too.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Was that before or after the Auburn game with Goday?
- 39:13Speaker 1: Good question. After, because we were four and two.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Nothing to do with on the field.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I think it was really the one catch for 11
- 39:22Speaker 1: yards a fullback had that day. Oh, yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Not a huge deal.
- 39:25Speaker 1: We call that a first down.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Was that 246 at UConn?
- 39:29Speaker 1: No doubt it was. No doubt.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Every third and a half a yard. Pull back to
- 39:37Speaker 4: the flat.
- 39:37Speaker 1: We ran for 210 that day. We carried the ball
- 39:39Speaker 1: 45 times.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Is that a mouse in your pocket?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Joseph Adai. He only carried it 10, but he had 93.
- 39:46Speaker 1: He had 9.3 yards per carry.
- 39:49Speaker 4: He caught some. For some reason, I remember him catching
- 39:53Speaker 4: a flat route.
- 39:53Speaker 2: He did.
- 39:54Speaker 8: He caught four for a touchdown. Four catches for a touchdown.
- 39:58Speaker 8: He did not catch four touchdowns.
- 40:00Speaker 1: It was one of those games. I know we've got
- 40:01Speaker 1: to take a break. It was one of those games
- 40:02Speaker 1: that you could tell at the end of Joe's carries.
- 40:05Speaker 1: They started to jump out of the way a little bit.
- 40:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 40:08Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Like, try to tackle him to the side.
- 40:09Speaker 4: This guy's, like, hurts when he hits me.
- 40:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I actually saw Joe Adai in the stadium Saturday.
- 40:15Speaker 4: I love Joe.
- 40:15Speaker 8: I just got a public service announcement on my phone
- 40:18Speaker 8: that I-110's closed the government street, guys.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Breaking news.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Oh, breaking news. Sorry, you're late. Broke down an.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Hour 45 ago.
- 40:24Speaker 7: I saw his son was on the sideline, too, as
- 40:26Speaker 7: a recruit.
- 40:27Speaker 1: His son and JoJo LaFell's son?
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Like, they're, like, top recruits.
- 40:31Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 40:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Like, big time.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Adasun's a receiver, too, and he's.
- 40:35Speaker 1: They can do whatever. They play all over. They play
- 40:38Speaker 1: all over. Joe Adasun. I got the little shoe, and
- 40:41Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm supposed to play the position he plays.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Got it.
- 40:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 4: And not to mention, one of my favorite teammates.
- 40:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Check Joe Adasun.
- 40:53Speaker 4: A monster of the Colts, too.
- 40:56Speaker 1: What was the Bruce Lee, like, was it six-inch punch?
- 40:58Speaker 4: I think it was, yeah, six-inch punch.
- 40:59Speaker 1: That's Joe Adasun. All right, we'll take a break. More

- 44:04Speaker 1: was on Get Up this morning. And here's what he
- 44:07Speaker 1: had to say about what the latest LSU versus the SEC.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Is that one minute? Is that one second?
- 44:14Speaker 4: That's your number one.
- 44:15Speaker 1: All right.

- 44:44Speaker 7: Weird.
- 44:44Speaker 10: Oh.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Well, let's just wait.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Yeah, let's just wait. Let's, you know.
