  The magicians were able to replicate certain degrees of
• 0:40
  those miracles, right? And so just because there's a
• 0:43
  miracle that occurs doesn't mean it's the Lord.
• 0:45
  The devil comes with lying signs and wonders.
• 0:49
  A matter of fact, in the last days, when the Antichrist comes
• 0:53
  on the scene and the false prophet, they'll be all kind of
• 0:57
  miraculous that'll be occurring like we've never, ever
• 1:00
  experienced. And there'll be a lot of people
• 1:02
  thinking that he's the Christ, they'll be the Antichrist.
• 1:06
  Don't be fooled by some of the supernatural things that happen.
• 1:10
  Like in any superhero movie, there's a hero and there's a
• 1:14
  villain. For every Batman, there's a
• 1:16
  Joker. For every Superman, there's a
• 1:18
  Lex Luthor. For every Spider Man, there's a
• 1:21
  Green Goblin. Today, Pastor Clark is bringing
• 1:24
  light to the fact that with God and the people he's using, he
• 1:28
  grants them some supernatural abilities.
• 1:32
  But there will also be those who are using some supernatural
• 1:35
  powers or magic that does not come from God, but from the
• 1:40
  devil. Now here's Pastor Clark in Acts
• 1:43
  chapter 19 with today's edition of Living Waters of Grace.
• 1:47
  We are in the book of Acts, chapter 19.
• 1:50
  Acts is the story of the power of the Holy Spirit and the New
• 1:54
  Testament Church over 2000 years ago when the church was birthed.
• 1:59
  And it continues the work of the Holy Spirit.
• 2:02
  He, God the Holy Spirit is still at work working in the lives of
• 2:06
  people all around the world. And now in verse 11, we're
• 2:09
  picking up now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of
• 2:14
  Paul so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his
• 2:18
  body to the sick and the diseases left them and the evil
• 2:22
  spirits went out of them. Interesting that that Laurie
• 2:25
  would talk about holistic things.
• 2:27
  You can't get any more holistic than a handkerchief or a a
• 2:31
  headband that was full of sweat with the perspiration of the
• 2:35
  apostle. Now you asked me how this kind
• 2:37
  of stuff happens, how it works, I have no idea.
• 2:40
  It's miraculous. And what's interesting with the
• 2:45
  the apostles, and I'm not an apostle, there is no more
• 2:49
  apostles in our day and age in the sense of the apostles that
• 2:53
  Jesus ordained. But in the book of Second
• 2:55
  Corinthians chapter 12, verse 2, it talks about the signs of
• 3:01
  those apostles, those who were authentic apostles.
• 3:06
  And the issue of, of Apostolic ministry is miraculous there.
• 3:13
  There's different things that happen because of their calling
• 3:16
  and their anointing by Jesus Christ that they're able to do.
• 3:20
  Now you got to realize that Ephesus was a Pagan city.
• 3:23
  It was full of sexual immorality, prostitution,
• 3:26
  idolatry with the temple of Diana and all these different
• 3:30
  edifices that they had in Ephesus at the time.
• 3:32
  Ephesus would be like modern day San Francisco, sexual
• 3:36
  immorality, whether it was fornication, adultery,
• 3:40
  lesbianism, homosexuality, it was prevalent then.
• 3:43
  And so sometimes the day we say boy, things are really bad.
• 3:46
  The day they were always bad since the beginning of time in
• 3:50
  the book of Genesis, that's when things really started going bad,
• 3:53
  when we fell away from the Lord. So Paul's in this city that is
• 3:58
  predominantly Pagan, there's very few Christians.
• 4:00
  There's not even a church at this time.
• 4:02
  So visualize yourself, your friend of Paul, he wants to have
• 4:06
  some Bible studies. He rented a facility from a guy
• 4:11
  that had some real estate that wasn't using it at certain hours
• 4:14
  of the day, between 11:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon.
• 4:18
  And he invited people like us at the time that were in the
• 4:21
  community to come and study the Bible, study the word.
• 4:24
  Of course, it would have been primarily the Old Testament
• 4:27
  Scriptures, but he was writing letters.
• 4:29
  So he was using things that the Holy Spirit had been giving him
• 4:32
  that were eventually codified in what we call the day our Bible,
• 4:36
  66 Books of the Bible. So as he's teaching these people
• 4:40
  that the things of the Spirit, people like you and me, we're
• 4:44
  sitting there and we're getting changed.
• 4:46
  We're hearing the word. So all these things are
• 4:49
  happening and they're learning. And so they're going out from
• 4:52
  this Bible study every day. Can you imagine being in a
• 4:55
  Bible? It's one thing to be in a Bible
• 4:57
  study with me. I ain't anywhere near Paul.
• 4:59
  OK, I'm lip synching what Paul wrote.
• 5:01
  This is all what he, you know, Luke translated this and put it
• 5:05
  into this book, the book of the Acts.
• 5:06
  But these these are the this is the life of Paul, his ministry.
• 5:10
  But to be able to sit with an apostle for six hours a day,
• 5:14
  five days a week for over almost three years, you would be really
• 5:18
  grounded. You'd really know what the Bible
• 5:20
  was all about. But not only that, they were
• 5:22
  going out and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
• 5:25
  They were impacting the community and the provinces
• 5:29
  around the area that Paul was ministering in at the time and
• 5:34
  act. So the purpose of the church and
• 5:37
  in our church to hear is to explode on the outside so that
• 5:41
  people that don't know Jesus begin to hear about him and want
• 5:45
  to know about him and they end up maybe coming here to hear
• 5:48
  more about him. OK, or or another Bible church,
• 5:50
  whatever. And so this is impacting the
• 5:53
  whole known world. At the time the gospel was going
• 5:57
  out in the power of the Holy Spirit.
• 6:00
  And so Paul, not any was preaching because the gospel in
• 6:04
  and of itself is the power of God and the salvation to
• 6:07
  everyone that believes, to the Jew 1st and also to the Greek.
• 6:10
  So I don't need to have a miracle in front of me before
• 6:14
  I'm a Christian to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
• 6:17
  the living God. The Holy Spirit does the miracle
• 6:21
  in my heart to cause me to believe the message of the
• 6:25
  gospel. And then when I believe that
• 6:28
  message, then my life is dramatically transformed.
• 6:32
  I'm saved, I become born again. I have new eyesight, I have new
• 6:36
  vision, new passion, new desires, and my my life is, is
• 6:39
  brand new and yours is too. When you come to faith in Christ
• 6:43
  and that is the miracle of miracles, you know of someone
• 6:46
  becoming born again, passing from death to light, from
• 6:50
  darkness to light. And now our followers of God as
• 6:54
  as opposed to followers of the devil in his lies.
• 6:58
  And so not any though the preaching at the time time, but
• 7:02
  Jews require a sign, it said. So signs are real important to
• 7:06
  the Jewish people. The Greeks seeked after wisdom.
• 7:09
  Jews seek a sign. So in order to authenticate the
• 7:12
  message that Paul is proclaiming that Jesus is the Messiah to a
• 7:16
  predominantly Jewish population at the time these miracles
• 7:20
  occurred. And so these handkerchiefs and
• 7:23
  these weren't like things he was blowing his nose on.
• 7:26
  These were sweat bands he put around his head when he was
• 7:28
  doing his tent making. The aprons were the made out of
• 7:31
  leather. And he used this to put his
• 7:33
  tools in whenever he was making his living as he was preaching
• 7:37
  the gospel and and making tents. And So what happened was I don't
• 7:41
  know who came up with the idea. I know it wouldn't have been
• 7:43
  Paul. He wouldn't have said we'll take
• 7:45
  this and put it on someone sick and, and they'll be OK and
• 7:48
  they'll be healed. No, that wasn't the way it
• 7:51
  works. Somehow the Spirit of God, this
• 7:53
  ended up getting some of this stuff out into these different
• 7:56
  places. And when it touched the bodies
• 7:59
  of some of these people, it says that they were delivered from
• 8:03
  their sickness. Diseases left them and, and, and
• 8:06
  not any of that evil spirits went out from them automatically
• 8:10
  just by the touching of this point of contact of a man who is
• 8:15
  highly anointed of God. It wasn't anything in and of
• 8:18
  Paul. It was Christ in Paul that
• 8:20
  enabled this to actually occur. Now, you don't really read about
• 8:24
  this in any other part of the Bible.
• 8:26
  You have to realize that the miracles in the Bible started
• 8:29
  with Moses primarily, and then they were Elijah and Elijah, and
• 8:34
  then they were Jesus and the apostles.
• 8:36
  Those were the three stages of the ages of miracles in, in
• 8:39
  church history and in the Bible. There's less than 100 miracles
• 8:44
  codified or quantified in detail where we can read and study
• 8:49
  them, tells us and John, Jesus did many other miracles that
• 8:52
  there wouldn't have been enough books in the world to contain
• 8:55
  everything he did. But God felt that it was
• 8:58
  necessary to give us enough indication that he does work
• 9:02
  within the miraculous realm. Now today I could RIP part of my
• 9:07
  sweater off here. If you had a headache and, and
• 9:09
  tell you to put it on your forehead, nothing's going to
• 9:12
  happen. These charlatans on TV that sell
• 9:16
  these things and tell you to send money in and they prayed
• 9:20
  for them and, and they soaked their sweat in them.
• 9:22
  If you send 50 bucks and they'll send you this cloth.
• 9:25
  I mean, it's just nothing but con artists and RIP off.
• 9:27
  This happened one time and you know, and other times, if you
• 9:31
  read church history documents from way back in the early days,
• 9:35
  there has been miracles that occurred that there was no
• 9:37
  explanation for. People have laid hands on me and
• 9:41
  prayed for me. And when I've been sick or
• 9:43
  having a problem, and I've done the same thing for other people
• 9:46
  and sometimes God shows up and brings healing and other times,
• 9:51
  OK, you take the medicine, right?
• 9:53
  That's just the way it is. I prefer to get the healing and
• 9:56
  not take the medicine. But you know, if I got to take
• 9:58
  the medicine, I take the medicine.
• 10:00
  And you do too. But there's nothing wrong with
• 10:03
  seeking God for a touch supernaturally.
• 10:07
  There was a true story. And I saw the movie and I read
• 10:11
  the history and it was authenticated that this guy,
• 10:14
  Victarius was his name. And he was a very godly,
• 10:19
  monastic kind of guy, praying all the time, a very holy man,
• 10:23
  very saintly man. And Mickey Rourke, the guy
• 10:27
  played in that movie, that boxing movie, he played the part
• 10:31
  of this drunk coal miner that was at living at the time that
• 10:36
  Victarius was living on this particular island.
• 10:39
  And he somehow, I think he had a drinking problem and he fell off
• 10:42
  a Cliff and paralyzed himself. So he's in bed and he can't
• 10:47
  move. And Victarius is in bed with
• 10:49
  prostate cancer. And this is what always
• 10:52
  fascinated me. Here's Paul able to do miracles,
• 10:55
  right? People getting healed,
• 10:57
  delivered. Paul had a physical affliction,
• 11:00
  the thorn in the flesh. He asked God three times to take
• 11:03
  it from him. He didn't like RIP off his shirt
• 11:06
  and put it on his wherever it was hurting and to say, OK, make
• 11:09
  it happen. He had to suffer it.
• 11:12
  And then the Lord said, hey, I'm not going to answer the prayer.
• 11:15
  My strength is made perfect in your weakness, that the power of
• 11:18
  Christ would rest upon you. So Paul had to deal with the
• 11:21
  illness and the affliction that he had.
• 11:24
  Everybody's going to die of something.
• 11:26
  Even after Lazarus was raised from a dead miraculously, guess
• 11:29
  what? He eventually died physically.
• 11:31
  We all have to die physically. But so anyway, this this
• 11:35
  nectarious guy, he's laying in bed and and Mickey Rourke, the
• 11:39
  actor, he's laying there. Why would God allow me to have
• 11:42
  this problem? I can't move.
• 11:45
  What good am I going to be to my wife and my kids?
• 11:47
  I can't make a living. He's depressed, he's complaining
• 11:50
  and Nectarious just sort of laying there in agony and pain.
• 11:53
  He just smiles as well. Maybe God will surprise you.
• 11:55
  That's all he said. Well, this is wild.
• 11:58
  So Nectarious dies. They come in, the nurses are
• 12:01
  taking the shirt and everything off.
• 12:03
  They throw the shirt on the bed to the guy, Mickey Rourke, the
• 12:06
  actor laying there in the bed and within several minutes he's
• 12:10
  completely healed and he's able to walk.
• 12:13
  His body's restored. Now.
• 12:14
  You can't reenact this stuff. You, you can't figure it out.
• 12:17
  I mean, even when Jesus did healing, they were always
• 12:20
  different. Sometimes he'd spit on the, the
• 12:23
  dirt and get the mud and rub it in someone's eyes or some other
• 12:27
  time a woman would touch the hem of his garment.
• 12:29
  I, I all I know is that God is able to do the miraculous and we
• 12:34
  can pray and ask him to do that. And sometimes we experience
• 12:38
  that, but there's no guarantee. There's no man.
• 12:40
  You can go to some woman that it's a holy person to ask him to
• 12:44
  pray, and just because it's them, they're going to be able
• 12:47
  to do something for you. It's only the Lord and he does
• 12:50
  everything after the council of his own will, even the gifts of
• 12:54
  the Spirit. He gives them out severally as
• 12:56
  He wills. The idea of faith healers is not
• 13:00
  biblical, but the the idea of the gift of healing is biblical.
• 13:05
  But even the people that have been used by God to pray for
• 13:09
  people and their health, and there's been evidence of maybe a
• 13:12
  higher percentage of people being healed doesn't mean that
• 13:15
  everybody's going to get healed. But anyway, this this instance
• 13:18
  of this occurring in here was to get the attention of these
• 13:22
  Jewish people. And it did in verse 13, and some
• 13:26
  of the itinerant Jewish exorcist took it upon themselves to call
• 13:30
  in the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits,
• 13:34
  saying, we exercise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.
• 13:38
  Also there were seven sons of Skiva, a Jewish sheep priest who
• 13:42
  did so. So these Jewish people at the
• 13:45
  time, unbelievers, had some kind of capacity because they did
• 13:50
  believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
• 13:52
  So there was some anointing authority in their lives and I
• 13:56
  guess they had experiences at times where they were used and
• 13:59
  God worked through them to deliver people from demonic
• 14:03
  possession or oppression. But their minds are thinking and
• 14:07
  they're not even believers yet. Well, like Paul, praise in Jesus
• 14:12
  name and there's, there's miracles that occur.
• 14:15
  So let's try this. Let's see if it works for us.
• 14:19
  Well, well, first of all, it's, it's humorous here.
• 14:21
  What's going to happen because these, these sons of the, the
• 14:25
  Jewish chief priests thought that maybe they could make some
• 14:29
  new kind of ministry going on here.
• 14:32
  And and it says in verse 15, the evil spirit answered and said,
• 14:36
  Jesus, I know, and Paul, I know, but who are you?
• 14:41
  Boy, that's scary, huh? They're in the house with this
• 14:45
  demonic person, the spirit. They think they're going to have
• 14:49
  an overcoming experience here and these demon demons going to
• 14:53
  be cast out. And this is what happens in
• 14:56
  verse 16. Then the man in whom the evil
• 14:59
  spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them and prevailed
• 15:04
  against them so that they fled out of that house naked and
• 15:07
  wounded. Wouldn't that be something?
• 15:09
  One guy, the strength of this person possessed by the devil,
• 15:13
  was able to whoop 7 grown healthy young men and not any
• 15:18
  beat them up but tear their clothes off and and have them
• 15:21
  running out humiliated by what it was they tried to do.
• 15:25
  The devil's always trying to replicate or duplicate the
• 15:30
  miraculous. We remember Moses with the rod
• 15:33
  and throw it down. It turns into a snake.
• 15:37
  Well, God allowed that to happen when the magicians were able to
• 15:40
  replicate certain degrees of those miracles, right?
• 15:43
  And so just because there's a miracle that occurs doesn't mean
• 15:46
  it's the Lord. The devil comes with lying signs
• 15:50
  and wonders, a matter of fact, in the last days when the
• 15:54
  Antichrist comes on the scene and the false prophet, they'll
• 15:58
  be all kind of miraculous. That will be occurring like
• 16:01
  we've never, ever experienced. And there'll be a lot of people
• 16:04
  thinking that he's the Christ and he'll be the Antichrist.
• 16:08
  And so this became known in verse 17 both to all the Jews
• 16:13
  and the Greeks dwelling in Ephesus and fear fell on all
• 16:17
  them. So we're in Greensburg here.
• 16:21
  It's in the newspaper. Channel 4 News is down there
• 16:24
  interviewing. We are all aware that something
• 16:27
  spectacular happened and scary. And so we know there's problems
• 16:32
  in Greensburg. There's demonic activity,
• 16:35
  there's demonic activity everywhere.
• 16:37
  There's satanic powers. There's a oh called there's
• 16:41
  astrology, there's false religions, there's all these
• 16:46
  kind of things that are happening in the day and age
• 16:48
  that we live. And these are the things that
• 16:51
  bind people into immoral lifestyles.
• 16:54
  Someone doesn't this one day wake up and say, well, I think
• 16:57
  I'm going to I'm a guy. So I think I want to have some
• 16:59
  sex with a guy. I mean, that's, that is demonic.
• 17:04
  It's not real. It's not, I don't care what any
• 17:06
  psychologists or what any kind of secular humanists or what
• 17:10
  they're trying to tell us in government now and all these
• 17:12
  things, these things are not normal.
• 17:16
  Matter of fact, Roman Empire fell because of the this
• 17:20
  promiscuity and this increase atmosphere of gay and lesbian
• 17:25
  lifestyle and abortion that eventually that nation was
• 17:29
  destroyed. And we are this close right now
• 17:31
  with testing God with what it is we're doing as a culture and
• 17:35
  people saying good is evil and evil is good.
• 17:39
  And we as Christians need This is why like we need to get out
• 17:42
  of the building, have conversations.
• 17:44
  We don't need to condemn people. We don't hate people.
• 17:46
  We need to love them enough to tell them, hey, what you're
• 17:49
  doing is sin and your sin will cause you to eventually be in
• 17:54
  hell. That's the bottom line.
• 17:57
  Now, I hope I'm not hurting anybody's feelings here today.
• 18:00
  But if you're living in a lifestyle that is not God's will
• 18:06
  and, and in his word, you're going to suffer consequences.
• 18:08
  You already are. The amount of people who are
• 18:11
  taking their lives that have tried this transgenderism and
• 18:14
  all this crazy stuff out there, sex changes and all this, it is
• 18:18
  unbelievable. You got to do the research, the
• 18:20
  statistics, and you know, and it isn't unloving.
• 18:23
  It's loving to tell people the truth.
• 18:25
  It's unloving to just say, well, it's OK, That's whatever you
• 18:28
  want to do, go ahead and do it. And so Paul wasn't that kind of
• 18:32
  guy. And nor are we these kind of
• 18:34
  people that just ignore these issues of sin today, even in our
• 18:38
  own time and our own culture. And So what happened was they're
• 18:42
  they're afraid now that the beginning of wisdom is the fear
• 18:46
  of the Lord and depart from evil.
• 18:47
  That tells us in Proverbs you're really catching on when you
• 18:51
  begin to fear the consequences of your sin.
• 18:56
  Don't play around with it anymore.
• 18:57
  You don't justify, you don't say, well, that's OK and
• 19:00
  everybody's doing it. No big deal.
• 19:03
  It's a big deal. It's a big, big deal.
• 19:07
  And So what happened was these people are are are starting to
• 19:09
  get frightened. And whenever you have an
• 19:12
  encounter with God to such a degree over your sin, and you
• 19:16
  know you have one or two choices to make, you either continue in
• 19:20
  your sin and you perish, or you get right with God and you
• 19:23
  repent and you leave your sin. And this began to cause such a a
• 19:30
  move of God's spirit. And the city of Ephesus, it says
• 19:33
  that fear fell on them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was
• 19:37
  magnified. That's what we need to have
• 19:39
  happen today. At the name of Jesus, every knee
• 19:42
  will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is
• 19:45
  Lord to the glory of God the Father.
• 19:47
  There is no other name given among men under heaven by which
• 19:51
  we can be saved or must be saved.
• 19:54
  Jesus is the truth. He's the way, the truth the
• 19:57
  life. No man comes to the Father but
• 20:00
  through him. So Jesus was magnified.
• 20:02
  He said if he be lifted up, he will draw all men to himself.
• 20:06
  Pray for Pastor Lewis and myself that when we preach the Word,
• 20:09
  we're preaching the Word. With the name Jesus involved in
• 20:12
  the word, because the Bible without Jesus is just a bunch of
• 20:16
  words, but the Bible with Jesus can turn the world upside down.
• 20:22
  And this is what was happening here.
• 20:23
  Now we'll read. Many are intimidated now they're
• 20:27
  fearful. And many who had believed came
• 20:30
  confessing and telling their deeds.
• 20:32
  Can you imagine Calvary today? Some of you guys are getting
• 20:35
  saved. Hey, I'm not leaving today until
• 20:37
  I tell you what God's delivered me from before I came here
• 20:41
  today, I was sleeping around with every, every woman I could
• 20:45
  find or whatever. I was chasing some guy down the
• 20:49
  street or some woman says, well, I'm sleeping with all the
• 20:52
  different girls out there in the community, you know, and the
• 20:58
  Lord convicted me and I couldn't live that way anymore and I
• 21:03
  repented. And I want to tell you guys what
• 21:06
  Jesus did for me, right? If you ever have a testimony,
• 21:10
  let me know. Because the more we hear what
• 21:12
  the Lord's done, the more he's glorified and the more people
• 21:16
  hear they say, well, maybe he could do that for me.
• 21:19
  People are trapped in sin. People don't just decide one day
• 21:23
  that they want to be immoral. They start becoming immoral and
• 21:27
  then they're trapped. They don't know how to stop
• 21:29
  being immoral. And they're they're in bondage
• 21:31
  and they're under the influence of the devil and says.
• 21:34
  And so these people, they're confessing and telling their
• 21:37
  deeds. Also, many of those who had
• 21:39
  practiced magic brought their books together and burned them
• 21:42
  in the sight of all. Now, I've been a student of all
• 21:46
  kind of religions my whole life, and I was into Buddhism for a
• 21:49
  while and I was into, you know, reading whatever was esoteric or
• 21:54
  ocaldic, and I didn't even know what I was doing at the time.
• 21:57
  It just fascinated me. What makes the world go round
• 22:00
  and why is this happened? Why is that?
• 22:02
  And how far is the sky going? And what's truth?
• 22:05
  You know, until I came to know Christ, I had no idea what truth
• 22:07
  was. So I have a bunch of books and
• 22:10
  there are a lot of them are in my garage now in a box.
• 22:13
  This, I don't know. What am I going to do with that?
• 22:15
  Maybe we should have a bonfire this summer somewhere.
• 22:18
  I'll bring my old books and you bring yours too, you know.
• 22:21
  But anyway, this is what was happening here, right?
• 22:24
  They were convicted about the things they were reading, the
• 22:26
  things they were studying, and they brought their books
• 22:29
  together and they burned them as sight of all.
• 22:31
  So all the people in Ephesus, there's a big deal going on
• 22:34
  here. People were magnifying the Lord.
• 22:37
  People are confessing their sins.
• 22:39
  They're bringing all their garbage and they're porn and
• 22:42
  whatever it might be and they're going to burn it.
• 22:45
  And it says they counted up the value of them and a total of
• 22:48
  50,000 pieces of silver in today's that could be between
• 22:53
  1:00 and $5,000,000. I read back and that day that
• 22:56
  silver was worth about $10,000, which is a lot of money.
• 23:00
  It was enough for 150 people to make their livelihood for a
• 23:04
  whole year. That's how much was destroyed in
• 23:07
  this in this fire. And as a result of that, what
• 23:11
  happened, it says the word of the Lord grew mightily and
• 23:15
  prevailed. So we have a calm church here
