- 0:00Speaker 1: Scam scam all right now, the ends it's it's really needed.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I think we're one of the only countries in the
- 0:08Speaker 1: world doing at Brooklyn. But there is a lot of
- 0:10Speaker 1: scamming going on.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Well absolutely, And these YouTubers, right, Drew and Pete, they've
- 0:15Speaker 2: had one point five million views on their first video
- 0:19Speaker 2: they did where they went out and confronted these businesses
- 0:23Speaker 2: who were pulling off scams to the NDS. It's incredible
- 0:27Speaker 2: what they're doing. But they're they're clashing like it looks
- 0:30Speaker 2: dangerous behavior because these business is doing it unhappy that
- 0:34Speaker 2: they're being exposed.
- 0:35Speaker 1: So you mean they're like rocking up to the front
- 0:36Speaker 1: of a business with cameras and everything and confronting them
- 0:39Speaker 1: a bit like a current affair.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Psychic current affairs.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, well we have one of them with us
- 0:44Speaker 3: right now.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Drew, Hello, Drew, Good morning, Drew.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Hello guys, thanks for having me on love It.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Good on your mate. All right, now, tell us why
- 0:52Speaker 1: did you start doing this, Like, are you just outraged
- 0:55Speaker 1: that people are using what is meant to be a
- 0:57Speaker 1: really good thing and earning money out of it more
- 1:00Speaker 1: they should be.
- 1:00Speaker 3: What's your motivation here?
- 1:03Speaker 4: Yeah, look, I just am sickened by the fact that
- 1:05Speaker 4: there is there are billions of dollars being stolen here.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I feel really bad for people who are disabled and
- 1:12Speaker 4: genuinely need the NDIS for support. We want people who
- 1:16Speaker 4: are severely disabled to have access to the NDIS. And
- 1:21Speaker 4: we've got stories now of people being trafficked by organized
- 1:24Speaker 4: crime gangs. We've got a case, We've got a case
- 1:28Speaker 4: where their participants being enslaved, like they're being forced to
- 1:32Speaker 4: work by the NDIS provided. So we're seeing disabled people
- 1:36Speaker 4: extremely abused and people being trafficked. I think that's wrong.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I want disabled people to have, you know, support, I
- 1:44Speaker 4: don't want them to be scammed and trafficked and enslaved
- 1:48Speaker 4: and brutalized by you know, people who should not be
- 1:51Speaker 4: in the disability care business.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Well, Drew, I think we all we all want to
- 1:54Speaker 5: support our disabled community members better in this country. But
- 1:58Speaker 5: this is this is Dane, what you're doing?
- 2:01Speaker 4: Right?
- 2:01Speaker 5: Do do you feel about? Why are you're putting yourself
- 2:04Speaker 5: in harm's way?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Look, I just have to do it.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I've had a lot of threats both Pete and I
- 2:12Speaker 4: Pizza Goulas on YouTube. I really encourage everyone to go
- 2:15Speaker 4: through and watch our latest YouTube video. It's unbelievable some
- 2:18Speaker 4: of the stuff that we've uncovered. I think it's ten
- 2:20Speaker 4: times better than our first video, Pizza goul Is Pizza
- 2:22Speaker 4: on YouTube.
- 2:23Speaker 3: But essentially, I think we have to do it. We
- 2:26Speaker 3: have to do it. If we don't do it, nobody
- 2:28Speaker 3: else is doing it.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It seems more than ninety nine percent of all complaints
- 2:33Speaker 4: to the government NDIS Safeguard's Commission don't result in a prosecution,
- 2:37Speaker 4: don't even result in prosecution, So nobody else is really
- 2:40Speaker 4: looking into this. The government isn't looking into this enough.
- 2:42Speaker 4: There are thousands of teop offs every year to the
- 2:44Speaker 4: government and ninety nine percent do not even get to
- 2:47Speaker 4: the stage of prosecution.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And let's talk about the dangerous thing though, mate. When
- 2:52Speaker 1: you rock up to like one of these dodgy.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Business and they've got security guards that they take.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, like you are you actually getting threat How
- 3:00Speaker 1: dangerous is it for?
- 3:01Speaker 3: Oh? I mean it's been dangerous.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Pete has had his glasses broken, his metaglasses, We've been
- 3:07Speaker 4: assaulted multiple times.
- 3:09Speaker 3: We're getting constant death threats.
- 3:11Speaker 4: After our recent video, someone called up Pete and basically said,
- 3:14Speaker 4: you know, you don't know what you're doing. You've made
- 3:16Speaker 4: some powerful leenemies. We're really lucky. We've got crowdfunding go
- 3:20Speaker 4: fumby and stuff, and from support from the public. We've
- 3:22Speaker 4: hired these two massive Samoan bodyguards who are just legends
- 3:26Speaker 4: of the game, these massive two hundred kilogram muscled up
- 3:30Speaker 4: sam Olan bodyguards. And if it wasn't for them, we'd
- 3:34Speaker 4: probably get smashed.
- 3:35Speaker 3: We'd probably get bashed. True, one of the biggest fighters.
- 3:39Speaker 2: What do you reckon, Drew? Is the ultimate fix for
- 3:42Speaker 2: the ndis like that. I think the way it's set
- 3:45Speaker 2: up it allows like a system that allows these companies
- 3:49Speaker 2: to do this. That means the system is broken in
- 3:52Speaker 2: a way.
- 3:52Speaker 3: What would you like to see done? Oh, the system
- 3:56Speaker 3: is fully broken.
- 3:57Speaker 4: The most conservative estimates from Sydney government minister say that
- 4:00Speaker 4: twenty percent of the scheme is fraudulent. That's like ten
- 4:03Speaker 4: billion dollars we're talking about, and that's the most conservative estimate.
- 4:06Speaker 3: We found some.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Stuff like, for example, people were prison harvesting, so they
- 4:11Speaker 4: were basically finding prisoners and basically telling the government they
- 4:15Speaker 4: were giving them twenty four to seven disability care.
- 4:17Speaker 3: They were submitting the invoices to the government.
- 4:19Speaker 4: The government didn't realize that there were prisoners sitting in
- 4:21Speaker 4: jail cells and just paid out the invoices.
- 4:24Speaker 3: So there's no invoicing.
- 4:26Speaker 4: There's the government is not looking into, you know, where
- 4:28Speaker 4: the money's actually going. Personally, I actually think the market
- 4:32Speaker 4: model for the NDIS is the disaster we've.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Let you know, all these thout rides. Yeah, genuinely.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Like the funny thing is people think of us going
- 4:42Speaker 4: after welfare for all. That sounds more right wing, but
- 4:44Speaker 4: I actually think on this one thing, it sounds a
- 4:47Speaker 4: bit more left wing. I think the market, the privatization
- 4:49Speaker 4: model has actually really failed with the NDIS, where you know,
- 4:52Speaker 4: they're not even you think about it, like there it's
- 4:56Speaker 4: harder to become a dog walker in some local council
- 4:59Speaker 4: areas than it is to become an NDIS worker, but
- 5:02Speaker 4: you literally need more regulations to become a dog walker.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Well this is but Drew. There obviously are some legitimate
- 5:07Speaker 5: providers though, right, So if someone is looking to find
- 5:11Speaker 5: an NDS provider find help, what are the telltale signs
- 5:14Speaker 5: that they can look out for? Should that kind of
- 5:17Speaker 5: make it obvious that this is a scam? Do not pursue?
- 5:20Speaker 3: Oh? Look, that is actually a really good question.
- 5:23Speaker 4: It's hard because all the businesses that we've been dealing
- 5:26Speaker 4: with are massively fraudulent. But essentially, here are some red
- 5:31Speaker 4: flags that I would really recommend people look into. You know,
- 5:33Speaker 4: pressure to sign over your plan management, sign long service
- 5:36Speaker 4: agreements very fast, asking you to hand over your MIC
- 5:39Speaker 4: of NDIS logins, offering to manage everything for you. When
- 5:43Speaker 4: you don't see the invoices. You have to see the invoices.
- 5:45Speaker 4: You have to have an independent plan manager. Don't give
- 5:49Speaker 4: these companies full access to your money, full access to your.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Plans.
- 5:55Speaker 4: That's where we've seen people their plans to be drained
- 5:58Speaker 4: by the providers. That's the big problem. You have to
- 6:00Speaker 4: have the independent plan management. You have to look at
- 6:02Speaker 4: the invoices. Please look at registered providers like there are
- 6:06Speaker 4: ways you can find you know, non fraudulent businesses.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Okay, and if not, Drew and Pete will be out
- 6:13Speaker 1: there with big Samoan security guards are doing great. You
- 6:19Speaker 1: can go and watch draw on Peze's investigations on YouTube
- 6:22Speaker 1: and you can sign the petition at stop nd I
