- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's Almost Famous Podcasts. And we're here in Carmel, California
- 0:09Speaker 2: at the AT and T Pebble Beach pro Am. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 2: here today with former bachelor Zach Across. Zach, good morning,
- 0:19Speaker 2: Good morning, Thank you for having me, Zach. Serious question
- 0:22Speaker 2: for you to start this thing out, fire away. How
- 0:24Speaker 2: does it feel to be a TikTok husband?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Oh my god?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Oh kay? What she puts me through?
- 0:34Speaker 3: I am not Yeah, I am not the biggest TikTok
- 0:37Speaker 3: guy at all.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Is it a parent on my face or something? I
- 0:40Speaker 4: don't know. I hate it.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I am very much not a social media person. Yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 2: in all ways, Like I don't get on it a lot.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I don't scroll on it a lot. It's just not
- 0:50Speaker 2: a huge part of my life. But no, it has
- 0:53Speaker 2: benefited me in the past and then benefits my wife
- 0:56Speaker 2: because she educates on skin and she here's what you've
- 1:01Speaker 2: got to do, here's the secret. They just can't listen
- 1:04Speaker 2: to this. I doubt either of them. Will. You just
- 1:08Speaker 2: have to start being like naturally bad at it and
- 1:12Speaker 2: she'll stop asking you. That's what happened with me. Jessica
- 1:15Speaker 2: would come in and be like, hey, I need I
- 1:16Speaker 2: need you to be in this video for me, or
- 1:18Speaker 2: will you show off your skin Carrey teen, or will
- 1:21Speaker 2: you put this outfit on? I'm like yeah, And I
- 1:23Speaker 2: tried like it wasn't like I was not doing my
- 1:25Speaker 2: best for her. But every time she'd be like, God, yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 2: come on, We'll just do that again and do it.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I'm like, I just don't think I'm made for this.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I try that. I've been trying that for years.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I think it was one of the first things I
- 1:39Speaker 3: told her as that I'm not built for this TikTok stuff.
- 1:43Speaker 3: So you're doing like and she's like, Oh, I got
- 1:45Speaker 3: this new trend. I found this new sound. We have
- 1:47Speaker 3: to do it. And it's almost started to like a
- 1:49Speaker 3: bartering tool, like, Okay, if you want to watch football
- 1:52Speaker 3: for nine hours a day, you got to film two
- 1:53Speaker 3: tiktoks with me. And I go, hmm, all right, fine deal,
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm a sucker.
- 1:58Speaker 2: A minute for nine hours, I guess I will do that.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Before we kind of dive into some of the big
- 2:05Speaker 2: updates in your life, and there are some I think
- 2:09Speaker 2: something really interesting with you and I want to just
- 2:11Speaker 2: chat with you, and I don't necessarily know how to
- 2:13Speaker 2: phrase it, but you were the Bachelor. You are a
- 2:17Speaker 2: success story from the Bachelor one a few and yet you,
- 2:24Speaker 2: I think, even since you're on the show, said I'm
- 2:26Speaker 2: going to keep a full time job. Yeah, like I'm
- 2:29Speaker 2: not like this, this is a chapter a season. And
- 2:34Speaker 2: I did that. So I worked two years after I
- 2:36Speaker 2: was the Bachelor still for a software company. Yeah, and
- 2:39Speaker 2: then this happened in life happened, and I said, Okay,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I can transition out of it. But for me personally,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and I'm only speaking for my own person I was
- 2:48Speaker 2: very I got it was a very weird season where
- 2:50Speaker 2: I got very jealous and envious because so many other
- 2:53Speaker 2: people had left their job and were able to do
- 2:55Speaker 2: it successfully. Yeah. Now there's a conclusion to that that
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'll talk to about. But I want to stop there
- 3:03Speaker 2: and say, this has been your decision. Yeah, yeah, your world.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Why how does it feel like? Just walk us through
- 3:10Speaker 2: the No.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Uh, it's a great question because I what was very
- 3:15Speaker 3: clear to me, like I wasn't the biggest like uh
- 3:21Speaker 3: fan slash ball nowhere of what Bachelor looked like back
- 3:24Speaker 3: like when it started, and like I but I did
- 3:27Speaker 3: know like it was obviously one of the biggest successful
- 3:30Speaker 3: shows of all time. And what I like saw from
- 3:33Speaker 3: like my parents' perspective or they would watch it or
- 3:36Speaker 3: my sisters, it's like, okay, like these people were on
- 3:38Speaker 3: the show and you know they were forever, you know,
- 3:42Speaker 3: the guy from the Bachelor or the girl from the
- 3:44Speaker 3: Bachelor at or whatever, and like they could write a
- 3:47Speaker 3: career from that, and in my eyes, I thought, like
- 3:49Speaker 3: that is not necessarily something I want. And number two
- 3:53Speaker 3: is like I think over the years, the show doesn't
- 3:57Speaker 3: like automatically mean like you can have a career pivot
- 4:00Speaker 3: or career change, and I I know that, and so
- 4:03Speaker 3: like I I think for longevity of like my uh
- 4:07Speaker 3: you know, for my life, for me and my wife,
- 4:10Speaker 3: like security, having a solid stable like career is what
- 4:15Speaker 3: I find, I guess the most secure for us. And
- 4:19Speaker 3: like I knew it wasn't going to come from the show,
- 4:21Speaker 3: like I was gonna you know, we were gonna do
- 4:23Speaker 3: all the fun and exciting things that you can get
- 4:25Speaker 3: out of it. But I think for it's like it's
- 4:27Speaker 3: like a needle in a haystack to really have that
- 4:30Speaker 3: like opportunity to really like totally career pivot, So that's
- 4:34Speaker 3: how I viewed it, and I just kind of stuck
- 4:38Speaker 3: true to it, and like Kate and I were very like,
- 4:41Speaker 3: we're we're in a great spot. So it works out
- 4:43Speaker 3: very well. But yeah, I just I just figured it
- 4:47Speaker 3: like that won't happen on us, Like the no way
- 4:50Speaker 3: is the show at the same level as what it was,
- 4:53Speaker 3: So it's just not going to happen, So let me
- 4:54Speaker 3: just do everything in my power to keep things normal.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Did did you ever? It makes a lot of sense.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Did you ever get the like comparison envy jealousy though.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Not from Bachelor really, so like people that were on
- 5:13Speaker 3: the Bachelor or Bachelorette prior, Like not really that because again,
- 5:16Speaker 3: I'm not like a big social media guy. I don't
- 5:18Speaker 3: find enjoyment from you know, making little tiktoks or like
- 5:22Speaker 3: constantly doing stuff on Instagram or whatever. I don't find
- 5:25Speaker 3: any enjoyment but what I do. But I did get
- 5:28Speaker 3: like a little bit of envy or jealousy. And I
- 5:31Speaker 3: don't think it came from really anyone from the Bachelor world,
- 5:36Speaker 3: but it came from like my uncle who's a voice actor.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I thought, like, oh, that kind of lifestyle, I know,
- 5:41Speaker 3: it's completely different from my software background and what I do.
- 5:44Speaker 3: But I was like, oh, that would be a route
- 5:48Speaker 3: I'd like to go. So I had a little bit
- 5:50Speaker 3: of envy of like, well, I mean, it'd be cool
- 5:52Speaker 3: if I could do some voice acting and stuff like
- 5:54Speaker 3: pivot from the Bachelor to do that, But that was
- 5:57Speaker 3: the extent. It was, like, that'd be cool. I'd like
- 5:59Speaker 3: to still pursue that, but I tried not to because
- 6:04Speaker 3: you know, this living in the world a Bachelor, like
- 6:07Speaker 3: social media like shows one thing, but behind closed doors,
- 6:11Speaker 3: you really know, like it's different, you know, it is different.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I uh, you know, I did this for two years
- 6:18Speaker 2: and I got a phone call one now I won't
- 6:20Speaker 2: mention who, from somebody who's on the show, and they
- 6:23Speaker 2: they were this was like probably yeah, two years after
- 6:27Speaker 2: my time. They were on the current season and they said, hey,
- 6:29Speaker 2: they're they're they're a big name. And they called me
- 6:32Speaker 2: and they said, hey, what do you kind of do
- 6:36Speaker 2: with this? Like how do you navigate this afterwards? And
- 6:39Speaker 2: I said, well, honestly, I went back to work because
- 6:41Speaker 2: I wanted health insurance and I had no money at
- 6:46Speaker 2: the time. I was making minimum wage. And he said yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 2: but everybody from the show becomes like millionaires after the show, right,
- 6:53Speaker 2: And I said, I don't know. I mean, I'm sure
- 6:57Speaker 2: somebody has, but this unless you kind of find your
- 7:00Speaker 2: niche and like this almost famous worked out because it
- 7:03Speaker 2: was ten years ago, one of the first podcasts to
- 7:06Speaker 2: ever be launched and existed, Right, this was kind of
- 7:08Speaker 2: like that we found lightning in a bottle. But it's
- 7:13Speaker 2: harder and harder. As you know, media gets more saturated
- 7:16Speaker 2: and it's harder and harder to find opportunities. And not
- 7:19Speaker 2: every person, I mean, Wells is a great example of this.
- 7:22Speaker 2: He's a host by trade, Like he was a host
- 7:24Speaker 2: way before he was on the show, So he's skilled
- 7:27Speaker 2: and talented. Not all of us are made to be
- 7:29Speaker 2: the Bachelor and then go host a television show. And
- 7:32Speaker 2: there's only a few shows out there, and there's a
- 7:34Speaker 2: lot of pros that should be getting those jobs and
- 7:38Speaker 2: do get those jobs. And so it was it was
- 7:42Speaker 2: a clear decision for me. But I did feel a
- 7:46Speaker 2: lot of envy. And my conclusion that story was I
- 7:49Speaker 2: actually started to get talk to people and they're like,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm jealous of you for having a full time job,
- 7:53Speaker 2: Like I was jealous of them because it looked like
- 7:56Speaker 2: they were out trapped in the world making money and
- 7:58Speaker 2: living lavish lea on social media, and then when we'd
- 8:04Speaker 2: sit and talk, they'd be like, I'm envious of you
- 8:07Speaker 2: because you have a stable like income and you have
- 8:10Speaker 2: a stable job. You're not searching all the time. Bob
- 8:13Speaker 2: Getty's a good example. He's here with us right now.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Bob has held a job for fifteen years. Yeah, post show.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And I think that's the part that I only mention
- 8:23Speaker 2: this because I think it's something that people should be
- 8:25Speaker 2: educated on, is that everybody goes on reality television, comes
- 8:28Speaker 2: off and just works in entertainment.
- 8:32Speaker 3: It's taken care of for the rest of the hunt.
- 8:34Speaker 3: It's like going to be a millionaire, famous beyond belief.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Like no, that's the thing where I think a lot
- 8:39Speaker 3: most people would assume that, And I just hopefully I
- 8:43Speaker 3: tried to see through the bs and just now like
- 8:45Speaker 3: I know this is going to be like really exciting
- 8:47Speaker 3: and fun and really probably short lived, because like at
- 8:51Speaker 3: the end of the day, Kate and I joked about it, like, yes,
- 8:53Speaker 3: we had this awesome experience we met each other on
- 8:55Speaker 3: the Bachelor, and like people know of the bachelor and
- 8:59Speaker 3: all this, but we don't have any special talents or skills,
- 9:03Speaker 3: like in particular, normal guy, I worked a sales job
- 9:07Speaker 3: before you were in nurse from Canada, Like, we don't
- 9:09Speaker 3: have any special talents, Like we are lucky to be
- 9:12Speaker 3: here and like we'll take what we can get. But like, shoot,
- 9:15Speaker 3: I'm not a singer or anything like that. Then that could, like,
- 9:18Speaker 3: you know, help your career.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I don't know, say yes to the fun things that
- 9:21Speaker 2: pop up along the way. I got advice that I've
- 9:25Speaker 2: talked about before, but the advice was use this to
- 9:27Speaker 2: enhance life. You already had not changed it completely. Love it,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and it's felt like that. I would also imagine kind
- 9:33Speaker 2: of moving into your relationship and catching up a little
- 9:35Speaker 2: bit there. This I don't want to say normal, because
- 9:39Speaker 2: it's not normal. You guys are living a great life.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You're building a home right now, you're on television. But
- 9:45Speaker 2: I'm imagining that it also helped you to feel like
- 9:48Speaker 2: you had more of a real relationship than if you
- 9:51Speaker 2: did come off the show and just put your you know,
- 9:55Speaker 2: fame out there and burn it as bright and as
- 9:58Speaker 2: long as you could. It probably stabilized you to it
- 10:02Speaker 2: helped the relationship. I think a ton.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I mean, I think at the end of the day,
- 10:07Speaker 3: all you can have is normalcy from this and you
- 10:09Speaker 3: don't like you got to find your normalcy because you
- 10:11Speaker 3: won't have that. Like once we got back off the show,
- 10:14Speaker 3: it was like, oh wow, like life is different.
- 10:16Speaker 2: People like no of us.
- 10:17Speaker 3: This is kind of weird attention, but like having the
- 10:20Speaker 3: job security, having us like fortunately living in the same
- 10:24Speaker 3: city when we got off the show was huge, But
- 10:26Speaker 3: we did kind of follow the right tracks of like,
- 10:29Speaker 3: you know, date a little bit more separate places and
- 10:31Speaker 3: then move in that. You just have to find the
- 10:33Speaker 3: normalcy wherever you can, and we just we're very vocal
- 10:37Speaker 3: about it, but we were like, hey, this is so
- 10:39Speaker 3: cool that we just did this and this is batch crazy,
- 10:42Speaker 3: but let's be normal here, like remember like health insurance, Yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 3: let's have a job, car like anything, like we got
- 10:50Speaker 3: to buy a house.
- 10:51Speaker 2: When are we planning kids? Like it's crazy, yeah, well,
- 10:54Speaker 2: and but it's it's an incredible thing to watch because ultimately,
- 10:59Speaker 2: if the sh show is about finding love, and that's
- 11:01Speaker 2: when the show's most successful, you found it and you
- 11:05Speaker 2: two made the decision No, our relationship is more important
- 11:07Speaker 2: than anything else that comes from this experience. Let's again stabilize,
- 11:13Speaker 2: build a home together, build a family together, and then
- 11:16Speaker 2: what comes comes. Speaking of building a home, you are
- 11:29Speaker 2: building a home recently on social media. I saw that
- 11:35Speaker 2: you went into the home that's being built and you
- 11:37Speaker 2: wrote letters on the pillars. I'm sure that was your idea. Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 2: of course, yeah, I found it on TikTok. Tell everybody
- 11:46Speaker 2: about this process of designing the home and why you
- 11:49Speaker 2: chose to build and not buy, and just kind of
- 11:51Speaker 2: walk catch everybody up. Yeah, so.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Little less than a year ago, Kate and I we
- 11:57Speaker 3: made a decision, like we were already married at this
- 11:59Speaker 3: point point, like we would love to just like start
- 12:03Speaker 3: or start our roots, grow our roots in Austin and
- 12:06Speaker 3: have our own place instead of renting because we'd moved
- 12:08Speaker 3: a handful of different places throughout the years. We found
- 12:12Speaker 3: this neighborhood that we fell in love with immediately.
- 12:15Speaker 2: It's like a.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Newish community, a lot of young parents and families and dogs,
- 12:22Speaker 3: and it's nice and pretty and it's on the outskirts
- 12:25Speaker 3: of Austin, and we're like, this has to be it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And after a few months of just touring, we found
- 12:31Speaker 3: like literally a dirt lot and we just like we
- 12:34Speaker 3: saw the lot, we felt where it was in the
- 12:36Speaker 3: whole community, and we go, this is it, this is
- 12:38Speaker 3: where we need to be. And we found, you know,
- 12:40Speaker 3: the model that we really like. We've we found like
- 12:43Speaker 3: the best builder that we really liked. And the fact
- 12:47Speaker 3: that we built instead of just found one was My
- 12:49Speaker 3: wife is very particular about how things look and how
- 12:52Speaker 3: things feel. She's got this incredible interior design eye that's insane.
- 12:56Speaker 3: She spends literally hours a day just like building interest
- 13:00Speaker 3: words of like our living room and office and like
- 13:02Speaker 3: and changing it every day.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Oh and you're going to benefit so much from that
- 13:05Speaker 2: because you're going to live in the most like comfortable place.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Oh it's going to look so beautiful. It look like
- 13:10Speaker 3: in a magazine. And uh so we're like, okay, if
- 13:14Speaker 3: we build, we can do that stuff. So we picked
- 13:16Speaker 3: the florest to fixtures, to everything. And then it's just
- 13:19Speaker 3: been awesome because we got really close with the builder
- 13:22Speaker 3: and we've been going on site to see the updates,
- 13:24Speaker 3: doing inspections and whatnot, and and the Kate came up
- 13:27Speaker 3: with the idea like we should write no it's and
- 13:29Speaker 3: I actually love the idea because I was like, you
- 13:31Speaker 3: know what, at.
- 13:31Speaker 2: The I think it's great. It's idea, it's.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Awesome, right, and just like knowing that's there, and who knows,
- 13:37Speaker 3: maybe down the road when you're I got to put
- 13:39Speaker 3: it in a new outlet and bust some drywall, I'll
- 13:41Speaker 3: see a little note from years before. So it's been awesome.
- 13:45Speaker 3: It's it'll be done in June, they say May, but
- 13:48Speaker 3: we're playing in June.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Do you think it will be your forever home? No,
- 13:52Speaker 2: you don't. We we've talked about it.
- 13:54Speaker 3: We've I mean, we'd love to have this home for
- 13:57Speaker 3: a long time, but with being Canadian, my family just
- 14:02Speaker 3: recently moved to Arizona. I think that eventually we might
- 14:06Speaker 3: explore other locations, but this will be our home for
- 14:09Speaker 3: our kids.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, and speaking of kids, obviously, that's what you
- 14:13Speaker 2: get asked about which you're in your lifetimes. Yeah, is
- 14:17Speaker 2: it something that you guys are thinking through processing? Is
- 14:19Speaker 2: it one of the reasons why you decided to build
- 14:22Speaker 2: this house. It's like a big reason.
- 14:24Speaker 4: For sure.
- 14:24Speaker 3: It wasn't no reason, but oh there's like already you know,
- 14:28Speaker 3: a date in mind, and she'd loved it. So yes,
- 14:30Speaker 3: there's there's kids somewhat not really on the.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Way but soon. Yeah, it's it's the best chapter of
- 14:37Speaker 2: like really, oh my gosh, it is uh it really
- 14:41Speaker 2: wrecks you though, Yeah, like being away socks. I FaceTime
- 14:44Speaker 2: sure with them this morning, and like you don't understand
- 14:48Speaker 2: just like how much your heart can like break and
- 14:52Speaker 2: feel for this like little thing that you're now responsible for.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I hear it's the moment like they're boring you, like
- 14:59Speaker 3: something kind of feel different, like a click.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I've always been cautious of telling people that because I
- 15:03Speaker 2: have buddies who are like, it didn't happen for me. Sure,
- 15:06Speaker 2: I think for the woman she carries the baby for
- 15:09Speaker 2: nine months, yeah, they feel this thing. For me, it
- 15:12Speaker 2: was that, but it was more it was a relief
- 15:14Speaker 2: for the safety of my wife. And then like a month,
- 15:17Speaker 2: then when the baby smiles at you or like needs
- 15:21Speaker 2: you as the hut like the dad, which isn't really
- 15:24Speaker 2: a thing for the first like five months, something like
- 15:28Speaker 2: something sparked in me and I was like, I am
- 15:32Speaker 2: I'm fully connected. It's a weird moment where you know
- 15:35Speaker 2: it happens, but I have buddies who are like, it
- 15:37Speaker 2: didn't happen, right, away. I think I felt protection more
- 15:41Speaker 2: than I felt connection, and then connection came a few
- 15:46Speaker 2: weeks in and I was like, it's all over me.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I know, Oh that's so cool. But it's an amazing thing.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I recommend it to anybody that wants a child to
- 15:56Speaker 2: definitely give their best shot. And the lead ups really fun.
- 16:02Speaker 2: It's really great. Now are you Valentine's Day's coming up? Zach?
- 16:07Speaker 2: You two are obviously have a lot going on in
- 16:09Speaker 2: your life. Are you a very romantic guy? No? Not
- 16:14Speaker 2: really No, And you know Valentine's Day was coming up? Yeah?
- 16:21Speaker 4: No, Kate, Kate made sure.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I know. Yeah, we've we've got plans and you know,
- 16:25Speaker 3: get her a little like a couple of gifts or
- 16:27Speaker 3: something like that.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I do try to be very cognizant and well in advance.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I'm not like a last second guy. I'm very much
- 16:35Speaker 3: a planner. But am I romantic?
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah? I know that's a fair Like my wife loves
- 16:43Speaker 2: receiving gifts and she loves giving gifts. I don't like
- 16:46Speaker 2: receiving gifts, and I'm not great at giving gifts. Yeah,
- 16:49Speaker 2: So it's like more like of an intentional decision I
- 16:54Speaker 2: have to make to be like, okay, let me think
- 16:57Speaker 2: about what I do. But we've also, in our mayriage
- 17:01Speaker 2: made it clear like hey, Valentine's Day doesn't mean that,
- 17:04Speaker 2: like I do something crazy for you, because then your
- 17:07Speaker 2: birthday comes up like two months later, and I'll do
- 17:09Speaker 2: something like this. We try to just like maybe enjoy
- 17:12Speaker 2: a bottle of wine and have a dinner and hang
- 17:15Speaker 2: out and be like, hey, I love you. Yeah, that's
- 17:17Speaker 2: like and for me that feels very romantic. Yeah, like
- 17:20Speaker 2: more romantic than anything else. I think she would love
- 17:23Speaker 2: a gift. She'd love a gift. Yeah. On to some
- 17:27Speaker 2: fun stuff here. Katie's a huge Justin Bieber fan, the
- 17:30Speaker 2: biggest How does that make you feel? It was an
- 17:33Speaker 2: adjustment for sure, you know, being in a threattle. I
- 17:39Speaker 2: didn't know this about her. This is in my notes here.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I had no clue that she was a Justin Bieber fan.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I knew like right when we got off the show.
- 17:46Speaker 3: You know, she would be like, oh I love Justin
- 17:48Speaker 3: Bieber and you know it's like he's got great music.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Sure I grew up listening.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, No, it's like pure infatuation and she's like
- 17:58Speaker 3: it's like she's like it was like not about like
- 18:01Speaker 3: him or like what who he looks like? It's like
- 18:04Speaker 3: his music transformed her life or like got her through
- 18:08Speaker 3: like her entire life. So she has this like I
- 18:13Speaker 3: got an obsession of jbb that I'm fully supportive of.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I love jbbes now because of her, and.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I liked him before.
- 18:21Speaker 3: But it's I mean, she she might be like top
- 18:25Speaker 3: ten super fan in Canada.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Well, because he's Canadian? Is it a Canadian thing? Do
- 18:32Speaker 2: you think? For sure? Yeah?
- 18:33Speaker 4: For sure?
- 18:34Speaker 3: Because he's like he was from Canada, became the biggest
- 18:37Speaker 3: pop star in the US, and Kate a lot like
- 18:40Speaker 3: she would say like when she was growing up, she'd
- 18:42Speaker 3: want to eventually go to the States and like it's
- 18:44Speaker 3: a little bit of a tough transition to do and
- 18:47Speaker 3: then boom, oh my gosh, our guy from you know,
- 18:50Speaker 3: Canada is now the biggest thing in the US.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I'm gonna follow that, you know, Like how cool is that?
- 18:55Speaker 2: We're gonna get in trouble for this conversation because I'm
- 18:58Speaker 2: I'm just saying it because I'm naive. Yeah, is it
- 19:02Speaker 2: similar to like a Taylor Swift thing? Because when I
- 19:05Speaker 2: hear people who love Taylor Swift, they're like because her
- 19:07Speaker 2: music got me through life. It is exactly that. And
- 19:11Speaker 2: you just said that about Justin Bieber and I'm like,
- 19:13Speaker 2: is it similar?
- 19:14Speaker 3: It is, and I don't I don't know if I've
- 19:16Speaker 3: like truly ever met because there's a lot of tea Swifties,
- 19:19Speaker 3: right or swift whatever the fan the whole Swifties. I
- 19:22Speaker 3: think Swifties are you don't hear like I guess Believers
- 19:25Speaker 3: might be one, but you don't hear them as much
- 19:27Speaker 3: as like Swifties. But she is definitely that to where
- 19:30Speaker 3: it's like it's on another level of like I don't
- 19:33Speaker 3: know what happened, but like got her through like a
- 19:37Speaker 3: lot of things, and he.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Makes her so happy.
- 19:39Speaker 3: It'll be like we were watching the Grammys the other night,
- 19:41Speaker 3: and I mean, just like you you could hear a
- 19:44Speaker 3: pin drop like showed up on there and she's got
- 19:48Speaker 3: her camera film in she's getting all that and I'm like,
- 19:51Speaker 3: all right.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Baby, whatever makes you happy. But if I do this
- 19:55Speaker 4: with dua lipa, it's a problem all.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Of a sudden, Yeah, it doesn't work too well. I
- 20:02Speaker 2: only say we'll get in trouble because I've questioned and
- 20:05Speaker 2: not more just asked about the Swifties. Yeah, and I'm
- 20:09Speaker 2: guessing believers are very similar. They're passionate and I always
- 20:12Speaker 2: say something wrong and they get offended or I'm uneducated
- 20:15Speaker 2: on the matter, but I'm I'm so removed that I'm
- 20:20Speaker 2: learning as I go.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Nothing against them, no nothing, I'm just I'm curious. I
- 20:26Speaker 3: wish I could find like a like if I look
- 20:29Speaker 3: at it another way, like if I wish I had
- 20:31Speaker 3: a musician I looked up to that I love that much,
- 20:34Speaker 3: I don't really care, like maybe I'm missing this like
- 20:37Speaker 3: joy for or listening to music that is like on
- 20:40Speaker 3: another level, like swifties who like love that I don't
- 20:43Speaker 3: have that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I got asked this question at the super Bowl last week.
- 20:57Speaker 2: They said, Okay, in your golf group, I'm gonna ask
- 20:59Speaker 2: you the same questions. Okay, start paying. You have a foursome, right,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you're one of those forums. You get to pick three
- 21:05Speaker 2: who would be the three people dead or alive that
- 21:08Speaker 2: you would want to play golf with. They asked me
- 21:11Speaker 2: this question and I answered it, but it was hard
- 21:14Speaker 2: for me to answer because I was like, well, my dad,
- 21:17Speaker 2: like my mom, my father in law, like that would
- 21:21Speaker 2: if I had my ideal that would be the golf group.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I don't have this like raging excitement for anybody. Tiger
- 21:28Speaker 2: Woods would definitely be up there, mostly because I just
- 21:31Speaker 2: want to tell people I play golf with Tiger Woods.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I would have to say that popped in my mind first.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It's not like it's not a oh my gosh, freak
- 21:38Speaker 2: out Tiger Woods. It's like, I just want to play
- 21:39Speaker 2: golf alongside Tiger Wood with a legend, you know, with
- 21:41Speaker 2: the legend, you know. So I have that going for me.
- 21:44Speaker 2: But if you had your ideal golf group or some
- 21:47Speaker 2: you're one of them. So you pick three people that
- 21:49Speaker 2: are alive, who would it be? And it can't be family.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say, it's too easy.
- 21:52Speaker 3: You have to said up, okay, shoot, okay, I'll start
- 21:55Speaker 3: with I'm just going to think of alive because it's
- 21:58Speaker 3: too many if you do this, yeah, live Probably my
- 22:01Speaker 3: favorite football player Brian Cushing.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Brian Cushing, he's a stud. Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I know it's kind of like a random poll, but
- 22:14Speaker 3: he's the reason why I'm I'd love I got into football.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Alive alive. Let's do.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Oh Justin Bieber because which is funny. I was actually
- 22:29Speaker 3: in Hawaii with we were on a couples trip with
- 22:32Speaker 3: like Joey, Kelsey and Kate and I, Charity and Dalton,
- 22:36Speaker 3: and we were staying in Kawhi at Joey's old resort
- 22:39Speaker 3: he played tennis at and so we were playing golf
- 22:42Speaker 3: a ton and we met up with some of Joey's
- 22:43Speaker 3: old friends and guess who took a private jet to
- 22:46Speaker 3: Hawaii to get a quick round in in.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Kawhi before his wife was about to get birth.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Jabibs and Hayley and the buddies that we met of Joey.
- 22:57Speaker 3: They were going to grab us to go like hang
- 22:59Speaker 3: out and meet with him. And I'm trying to I'm
- 23:03Speaker 3: blanking out what happened, And I guess, like Jbib's only
- 23:06Speaker 3: played like.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Shep a little katie like she was.
- 23:09Speaker 3: She wasn't even at the course when we heard this,
- 23:11Speaker 3: because like the guys were like, yeah, it was.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Just I played with Biber like twelve times and I go,
- 23:15Speaker 4: what what?
- 23:16Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. She had to be panicking and.
- 23:18Speaker 4: So I call her.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I go, oh my gosh, babe, you're not going to
- 23:20Speaker 3: believe this, and she goes, where where is she? So yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 3: that was just a little thing. So I would do
- 23:24Speaker 3: that so I could be like, I'm buddies, yes, Bieber.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Sorry, babe, Oh I love that.
- 23:30Speaker 3: And then last one, I guess can just be hmmm,
- 23:36Speaker 3: I mean you said Tiger, I would love to play
- 23:37Speaker 3: with Tiger. I'll just go Rory. Oh yeah, yeah, I
- 23:46Speaker 3: feel like that'd be interesting to play with him.
- 23:47Speaker 2: We're out here with him right now at the Pebble
- 23:51Speaker 2: Beach eighteen. He's a he's a former champion, so he
- 23:54Speaker 2: came me one last year. He's the defending his title
- 23:56Speaker 2: here at Pebble Beach. Final question for you when it
- 24:00Speaker 2: comes to golf, Yeah, how is your game on a
- 24:03Speaker 2: skill of one to ten?
- 24:04Speaker 4: Ooh, the you're gonna ask me a handicap?
- 24:07Speaker 2: In it?
- 24:08Speaker 3: Pretty high? I'd say, right like ten being the best? Yeah, Like, oh,
- 24:15Speaker 3: I think I'm like a five. Hey, that's perfect. We're
- 24:18Speaker 3: out here, we're going to be playing here this afternoon.
- 24:20Speaker 2: You're so excited about it. It's a wonderful course. We're
- 24:23Speaker 2: playing an amazing piece of property. I guess I do
- 24:26Speaker 2: have a final question for you to wrap this thing
- 24:27Speaker 2: up for listeners out there. Obviously, we talked about you
- 24:33Speaker 2: building a home, we talked about you know, your life.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Just maybe in your own words, give everybody a little
- 24:38Speaker 2: update on where you and Katie are at in terms
- 24:41Speaker 2: of like life, how's it feeling, how's it going.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Just update everybody. Yeah, I get a little update. It's
- 24:48Speaker 3: just right now. Things are going amazing with Kate and I.
- 24:52Speaker 3: We have the house a couple months away. We are
- 24:55Speaker 3: planning for a family, and we'll say a couple months
- 24:58Speaker 3: several months, and you know, we're just beyond excited to
- 25:04Speaker 3: see what twenty twenty six. As we say, there's like
- 25:06Speaker 3: a really good feeling about this year. We're both like
- 25:09Speaker 3: pursuing some like exciting hot hobbies that we you know,
- 25:11Speaker 3: initially didn't like really want to or didn't really pursue,
- 25:15Speaker 3: and it's just going to be an exciting year of growth.
- 25:17Speaker 3: So you guys fight yeah, oh yeah, okay, Oh we
- 25:20Speaker 3: had to fight at the airport yesterday.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 3: But it's like we call them TIFFs, yeah, because they're like,
- 25:27Speaker 3: I'm very much so like figure it out in the moment,
- 25:30Speaker 3: and we do typically, so we like get it out
- 25:33Speaker 3: of the way.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we just my wife and I have oh yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 2: but nobody expects it because my wife is so sweet
- 25:40Speaker 2: and kind and like passive. Yeah, and so we were
- 25:44Speaker 2: we go to well, we haven't done it in a while,
- 25:47Speaker 2: but we we did like a year of marriage counseling,
- 25:50Speaker 2: and a lot of it was about how do we
- 25:52Speaker 2: fight well because I am more of like, let's figure
- 25:56Speaker 2: it out, and my wife is more of a like
- 25:58Speaker 2: you're good, whatever you want, honey, and I'm like, no,
- 26:01Speaker 2: I want you to. I need some like pushback here,
- 26:06Speaker 2: like tell me what's wrong. Let's get this problem solved. Now.
- 26:10Speaker 2: This isn't night like, this isn't scary, this isn't bad.
- 26:13Speaker 2: So we've worked on it so much. But oh yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 2: we do uh and uh. And it's always funny because
- 26:19Speaker 2: I have yet to meet a healthy married couple who
- 26:23Speaker 2: does not have the ability to like go at each
- 26:27Speaker 2: other a little bit. Well, yes, but it's taking years
- 26:31Speaker 2: of work because it used to just be I like,
- 26:33Speaker 2: I was like, Jessica, you have to tell me what
- 26:36Speaker 2: you're thinking. You have to tell me when I make
- 26:38Speaker 2: you mad, I'm gonna make you mad. It's me, I
- 26:40Speaker 2: meet myself made can imagine what it's like living with me.
- 26:45Speaker 2: But it's always healthy to hear when somebody can argue.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Yes and yeah, and it's like it's a work in progress,
- 26:51Speaker 3: like from the start to now, Like you have to
- 26:53Speaker 3: learn how to effectively fight. Yeah, that effective, actually effectively Yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 3: to come to a resolution because I mean yeah, yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 3: every couple will fight.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And she she's vocal, Like I know, she's cute, she's vokee.
- 27:07Speaker 2: That's a great way to end it. She's cute and
- 27:09Speaker 2: she's vocal. Zach Burnham A great day to day. Can't
- 27:12Speaker 2: wait to be out there on the course with you.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us, Thanks for coming out to Carmel
