- 0:01The old ads goes in life hard work pays off.
- 0:08So when exactly at a certain point did that saying lost its
- 0:15purpose in a lot of ways me now there are a number of ways to
- 0:22kind of sum up how the hard work work, hard effort and the God
- 0:31having mentality at any cost is seriously lacking in the society
- 0:38today. OK, that would be one of the
- 0:42huge understatements obviously, but it does kind of raise the
- 0:50alarm bell. Why are so many people nowadays,
- 0:55especially, you know, the ones who feel as if life owes some
- 1:01whole bunch of things, why is the work ethic still lacking
- 1:10within them? Could it be because many of
- 1:16them, for one reason or another, don't have the just the mindset
- 1:23in general to really wanna go get something that they want?
- 1:29Whatever way you want to kind of describe it.
- 1:33The point of the matter, people don't value and appreciate the
- 1:41true importance of how hard work will actually help them in life
- 1:47and how you just can't costar through thinking that you're
- 1:52going to get whatever you want by not working hard for it.
- 1:58So here's just my take on the lack of not having a work ethic
- 2:07and how it's costing people a lot more in society today than
- 2:13it ever has before. You know, when I was growing up,
- 2:24I never, I never was a person rather than had we've been
- 2:30impressed by the materialistic side of things as far as, you
- 2:38know, the flash materials. I mean, I did have nice things
- 2:43going up, but I just never really been the type of person
- 2:47to be swayed by, you know, the flashiest of things.
- 2:54Simple has always been the way to go for me.
- 2:58If I see something simplistic, I stay with it and I don't try to
- 3:04go above or beyond what my thought is as far as you know
- 3:11when it comes to certain things. And even now as an adult, I
- 3:16still have that same mindset even today that I've always
- 3:22appreciated the simple things cause the flashiest stuff, it
- 3:29just hasn't really suited me. And more so this is for my dad
- 3:36who always tells me even today, always stay low key, never go
- 3:45beyond what you don't need and just live a simple life.
- 3:52And especially for my mom, you know, even today she always
- 3:55tells me simple is better, always appreciate the basics and
- 4:01never take those things for granted.
- 4:04Now, while I can't really speak for everyone, at a certain point
- 4:11in time it seems as if that even having the simple basics of
- 4:17things in life just isn't good enough for anybody anymore.
- 4:23Now it's easier to point to just one thing as far as why people
- 4:30feel as if that even having, excuse me, the basics of life
- 4:39won't never be good enough. I mean, you can point to a
- 4:43myriad of things 'cause it's never just one specific thing,
- 4:52but it's like if people don't have the best of things in life,
- 4:58then it's like their whole life doesn't matter.
- 5:03And that's the crux of where I'm going right now, of why people
- 5:10feel as if they have to just stay one step ahead of others or
- 5:15even in a lot of cases try or out do the other.
- 5:26There's another old saying in life, keeping up with the
- 5:29Joneses. And while unfortunately that
- 5:35saying has actually been more poetic in a way, nowadays, why
- 5:42do people feel as if they have to have the best of things?
- 5:47See, if you combine that kind of, you know, mindset of wanting
- 5:51to have the best of things with the lack of, you know, work
- 5:57ethic, it it's kind of like a clash of hot versus cold.
- 6:09See, nowadays people essentially don't want to work hard for
- 6:16anything that they claim they want to have 'cause they always
- 6:21say they want this, that and the third and the whole 9 yards.
- 6:30But yet if you actually ask a person, well, how you plan on
- 6:38making it happen, that's when they get dumbfounded.
- 6:45Cause see, it's easy to say a whole bunch of stuff like that,
- 6:49but if you would ask them how you plan on getting those things
- 6:54that you claim you want and they don't have a real
- 6:57straightforward answer, that's when you know you got.
- 7:02The reality is, is that you can't really say that you want
- 7:07this, that and the third in your life, but yet not have a
- 7:11legitimate plan for it as far as how do you plan on getting it
- 7:17and what will be the backup scenario if you don't.
- 7:24Unfortunately, people nowadays aren't really too, you know,
- 7:28smart and blind enough to even go that far, but that kind of
- 7:36remains to be seen. The other issue that is that
- 7:40players is that it just seems like nowadays people don't want
- 7:45to work period. You know, most people really
- 7:49want to be on their phones, on social media, want to hang out
- 7:52with their companions and essentially just coast through
- 7:57life. Unfortunately, one that's
- 8:05unfortunately not the way life goes.
- 8:07And #2 and this is obviously the most important thing.
- 8:13If you think life is all about just coasting on by and not
- 8:19really having a care in the world, boy do I got good news
- 8:24for you. And actually bad news.
- 8:31The good news is, is that you can actually do all those
- 8:36things, you know when it's warranted and that you've earned
- 8:40it. The bad news is you actually
- 8:45have to work hard to get that luxury and privilege.
- 8:50Now, that part of it I will explain in a little bit.
- 8:56The bottom line is, you know, without the work ethic and the
- 9:02willingness to try to do whatever is needed to get what
- 9:06you feel like you want, if you don't work hard for it, you're
- 9:10not going to get it. At a certain point, it really
- 9:14comes down to with people, how is it that the work effort that
- 9:22isn't instilled in you believing that you can essentially get
- 9:27through life, not really have it, but you have this laissez
- 9:34faire attitude and or I guess mentality that you don't really
- 9:41need to work hard, that you can essentially just breathe on
- 9:47through life. Everything is going to be given
- 9:49to you on a silver platter and that you'll be OK.
- 9:55Oh, you'll be OK all right, OK and being your own worst enemy.
- 10:05See, for a lot of people, you know what, and it's not just
- 10:09here in America, but it's essentially throughout, you
- 10:12know, the world. Many of them will tell you that
- 10:19working hard and having the hard work ethic that there is no
- 10:25other way they can try to go because it's the only thing for
- 10:30many of them that they only knew in their life.
- 10:36See, put yourself in some of these people's perspectives for
- 10:40a moment. Whether and if it's not just
- 10:45here in America, take like a different country that maybe
- 10:49doesn't have the resources that we do.
- 10:54I mean, you have tons of families out there that are
- 10:58scraping just to get by. Even the smallest, I guess luck
- 11:04that comes their way. They are just happy to have it,
- 11:09unlike some people here who feels as if even having the
- 11:14most, I guess with joyous luxury.
- 11:18I am is, you know, something that they feel like they are
- 11:25entitled to. Yeah, good luck trying to tell
- 11:31that with those people who essentially have to scrape by,
- 11:36scrap and do everything that they have to do to essentially
- 11:40put food on the tables for their family.
- 11:43Another problem that persists is that not only so much of the
- 11:49entitlement aspect of I mentioned, but it's also the
- 11:54privileged fact. And if you are a parent of a
- 12:00kid, especially in this generations nowadays, I think
- 12:06this might actually be something you should take note.
- 12:13Many times, you know, when I was growing up, and I'm sure you
- 12:17were growing up in a different generation, our parents always
- 12:22told us no. Now when you were a kid, let's
- 12:28say 8 to 10 years old, joining a note there, you probably didn't
- 12:33really know why or even understood why your parents
- 12:36always told you no. But it wasn't until you get laid
- 12:41on close to a doctor to an extent that you finally
- 12:46understood to a large extent why they always told you that.
- 12:51And part of it, it wasn't because they didn't want to give
- 12:56you what you were asking for, but it was really a layer that
- 13:01they were trying to get through to you.
- 13:03And that was nothing. It's just given to you.
- 13:12You have to work hard for it. You have to earn those things.
- 13:17You have to be willing even when you get to a certain point later
- 13:22on in life. You have to be able to work hard
- 13:25for what you want. Even if you don't get it
- 13:29immediately, eventually you will get those sad things.
- 13:35OK. That's why parents, at least
- 13:41when I grew up, and I'm sure you did, they always said no.
- 13:45Not because they didn't think you want worthy of getting sad
- 13:50things, but they were telling you there's another way of
- 13:55getting it outside of simply asking for it.
- 14:02And you know what? Right now I can actually say I
- 14:07am so glad that my parents kind of instilled that in me, even at
- 14:15a young age. And just for clarification
- 14:18purposes, I've never been really the type of person even growing
- 14:24up to really ask for a bunch of things.
- 14:26I mean, I was pretty much content, you know, with what I
- 14:30had. Now, if I was doing my house
- 14:35chores as I was supposed to, not getting in trouble in schools
- 14:39and everything like that, and I was keeping up with my grades
- 14:42and stuff and acting right in public, yeah, they would reward
- 14:46me every now and then, especially, you know, when it
- 14:50was report card time at schools and, you know, all that stuff.
- 14:55But other than that, I never really asked for a lot of things
- 15:01'cause I was pretty much comfortable with what I had.
- 15:05But also I knew that in the back of my mind I also thought about,
- 15:10you know, the main people, not just in America but in the war,
- 15:17who all as fortunate as I am. So that was really something I
- 15:24held on to in the back of my mind when I was growing up
- 15:31mostly. But nowadays it seems as if
- 15:35parents are just so quick to give their children whatever
- 15:42they want 'cause if they say no to them, they essentially hate
- 15:47them. I don't know why that is the
- 15:49case, but Echo, welcome to society today.
- 15:57In the end, here's what it comes down to.
- 16:01You can't get through life thinking hard work is not going
- 16:05to be beneficial if you really think that life is just going to
- 16:10give you everything you want simply by asking for it.
- 16:14Or if you don't want to have the attitude of God, go get it by
- 16:19any means. You really only have yourself to
- 16:22blame when you put yourself in a untenable and quite frankly,
- 16:27unwinnable situations because you choose not to have the
- 16:32mindset of I'm going to work hard for whatever it is I want,
- 16:36and I'm going to get it no matter what.
- 16:41Hard work is always the thing that will help you when talent,
- 16:48personality and charm even isn't enough.
- 16:53And quite frankly, those things will never be enough as far as
- 16:59trying to get through life. So if you have that mindset that
- 17:03those 3 will carry you, you need to get that out of your head
- 17:08almost immediately. Hard work pays off when
- 17:14everything else doesn't work. And look, there's another saying
- 17:18that even I still refer to. Nobody cares.
- 17:24Work hard. And quite frankly, that's what
- 17:28society needs to get back to. That if you want something, you
- 17:35go work for it. And regardless of the outcome,
- 17:40you feel proud that you didn't take the easy way, but you took
- 17:45the way that should have been instilled in you from a young
- 17:51age, which is that hard work always pays off.
