- 0:03Speaker 1: Wow, and we have an hour left. What a show
- 0:08Speaker 1: by passed Tuesday, March twenty fifth, Show fifty three forty three,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and I am joined by entertainment editor for Breitbart dot Com,
- 0:19Speaker 1: author of the Fifty Things books, and topping it all
- 0:23Speaker 1: off on the resume, a friend, ladies and gentlemen, Jerome
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hudson joins us.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Good morning friend, Good morning sir. Oh, I'm terrific. You know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I woke up, thank the Lord and got to reading,
- 0:43Speaker 2: so my mind is sharp and you know I'm filling
- 0:49Speaker 2: that workout from last night. Oh, everything's great. Thanks.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We just had Riley Gaines on the program and she'll
- 0:57Speaker 1: be coming to Florida State this week. And we've had
- 1:00Speaker 1: around before and I'm just curious, what's it going to
- 1:05Speaker 1: take Drome for the majority of this American public to
- 1:12Speaker 1: have their way and for us to get back to
- 1:13Speaker 1: protecting women's spaces and women's athletics.
- 1:20Speaker 2: So I think it's happening, And you know, I would
- 1:24Speaker 2: look to Virginia and that was sort of an inflection
- 1:29Speaker 2: point I think for the country. You obviously saw the
- 1:32Speaker 2: political ramifications of adults, administrators of schools and sports leagues,
- 1:41Speaker 2: parents obviously furious as the truth came out, not necessarily
- 1:47Speaker 2: because the local media or the national media outside of
- 1:50Speaker 2: Bright Partners and a few other outlets were reporting it,
- 1:55Speaker 2: but because parents were showing up to meetings. And I
- 2:05Speaker 2: think that is generally sort of the pressure that it
- 2:09Speaker 2: takes right of people oriented energy in which people realize
- 2:16Speaker 2: that an unjust is being carried out in the people. Again,
- 2:22Speaker 2: in the government in this case, school administrators oftentimes elected officials,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and in the sports realm particularly, I guess you know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: ages K through twelve and then beyond in the collegiate realm,
- 2:39Speaker 2: there are systems in place. California settled this in twenty
- 2:45Speaker 2: thirteen when their legislature essentially and Governor Brown signed the
- 2:49Speaker 2: law that allowed for boys who were born boys to
- 2:54Speaker 2: play in leagues and on teams with girls. And you know,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you have to assume that it's worked for California. There
- 3:03Speaker 2: have been issues, certainly, and and politicians out there trying
- 3:08Speaker 2: to wrestle with Gavin Newsom just made headlines because he
- 3:11Speaker 2: had he you know, contradicted the law of his of
- 3:17Speaker 2: his land in California when he was he was lieutenant
- 3:21Speaker 2: governor when Brown signed that law. In in places, I
- 3:27Speaker 2: mean the long and short of it is I think
- 3:32Speaker 2: this is a ninety five to five issue. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: maybe that five percent of people when you asked him,
- 3:39Speaker 2: do you think that it's fair for you know, biological
- 3:44Speaker 2: males to play in women's sports leagues. You know you
- 3:49Speaker 2: probably would have let five percent down to less than
- 3:52Speaker 2: one percent. And you know, I don't know why the
- 3:56Speaker 2: left and largely the Democratic Party has seated such a
- 4:00Speaker 2: a very common sense issue to the right, to conservatives,
- 4:04Speaker 2: to Republicans, if you want to look at it through
- 4:07Speaker 2: the political lens. I just think it's one of those
- 4:10Speaker 2: It's one of those things, you know, just water's wet
- 4:13Speaker 2: and right is right. Boys should play with boys, Girls
- 4:18Speaker 2: should play with girls after the competition's over. Boys should
- 4:21Speaker 2: go to boys locker rooms, girls should go to girls
- 4:23Speaker 2: locker rooms. So at time and time again, and I've
- 4:26Speaker 2: said of it nausea. Among this program, usually the least
- 4:30Speaker 2: and the Democratic Party, they've been toward a policy or
- 4:37Speaker 2: a philosophical framework that doesn't really care about individualism individual freedom,
- 4:43Speaker 2: and oftentimes that falls out of alignment with common sense.
- 4:58Speaker 1: E lived minutes past the hour Jerome Hudson with me
- 5:01Speaker 1: from Breitbart Jrome. I was I was chuckling yesterday as
- 5:04Speaker 1: I thought about our conversation and and I'm curious when
- 5:09Speaker 1: a movie like Oh, I don't know snow White comes out,
- 5:13Speaker 1: do you do you go see that movie? Do you
- 5:16Speaker 1: get an advanced preview of it? I mean, how does
- 5:20Speaker 1: Disney first of all, treat Bridbart And secondly, just how
- 5:25Speaker 1: much do you have to go through to cover that
- 5:27Speaker 1: kind of thing?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Uh So to your second to the last question. In
- 5:32Speaker 2: the last couple of years, Disney PR has been good
- 5:36Speaker 2: about reaching out to us on stories. It's not necessarily
- 5:41Speaker 2: that we made a mistake in our recording at Breidbart,
- 5:45Speaker 2: but it's it'll it'll, they'll they'll come to us with
- 5:48Speaker 2: a with a statement if you will, sort of explaining
- 5:51Speaker 2: their side of the story. And that actually happened a
- 5:55Speaker 2: couple of times with this movie. Yeah, we get screeners
- 6:01Speaker 2: all the time, sort of the lingo they used to
- 6:04Speaker 2: sing you DVDs, but now it's it's basically digital copies.
- 6:09Speaker 2: The PR team of a production company will reach out
- 6:13Speaker 2: and you know, if we want to interview casts or whatever,
- 6:17Speaker 2: they'll send us a digital copy of the film. I
- 6:20Speaker 2: try to see everything that I cover that includes comedians,
- 6:27Speaker 2: you know, actors, bands, and obviously TV and film. I
- 6:34Speaker 2: really tried to find time this weekend to see snow Light,
- 6:38Speaker 2: and I because John Notti, one of the greatest writers
- 6:43Speaker 2: on the Internet, usually reviews films, and he's been on
- 6:46Speaker 2: a Gene Hackman run of late because obviously if that
- 6:51Speaker 2: tragical loss of him and his wife. But John Notty
- 6:55Speaker 2: saw the movie and he said, quote, it's a bad
- 6:58Speaker 2: film end quote. He said, it is. It is incongruent
- 7:01Speaker 2: with human human nature, and it is an affront to
- 7:08Speaker 2: the original film. And now that's not just John Milti
- 7:11Speaker 2: for a news saying it. That's not just me agreeing
- 7:14Speaker 2: with it. That is born out in the numbers. Snow
- 7:17Speaker 2: White should have been a movie president that should have
- 7:20Speaker 2: at least done one hundred million dollars easily here in
- 7:23Speaker 2: the United States and somewhere between one hundred and fifty
- 7:27Speaker 2: and two hundred million dollars internationally. The problems began early
- 7:32Speaker 2: with this film. The budget was reportedly two hundred million
- 7:37Speaker 2: dollars that mushroomed to seventy because there were there were
- 7:45Speaker 2: disagreements in creative direction, apparently going back two years ago.
- 7:49Speaker 2: They finished the bulk of the film two years ago,
- 7:53Speaker 2: writer strike, actor strikes and COVID protocols. The budget just
- 7:58Speaker 2: ballooned up to almost one hundred million dollars. You tack
- 8:01Speaker 2: on another one hundred t one hundred and fifty million
- 8:04Speaker 2: dollars to promote the film, which they scaled back because
- 8:08Speaker 2: the star, Rachel Ziegler, is so toxic. It's a four
- 8:13Speaker 2: hundred maybe million dollar disaster, and Disney deserves it. It
- 8:19Speaker 2: is an anomaly in terms of multinational companies, specifically their boardroom.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I mean it is still filled, not wholly, but a
- 8:29Speaker 2: lot of the people who run Disney. Kathleen Kennedy, who
- 8:34Speaker 2: runs Lucasfilm, she hates Star Wars, she hates the franchise.
- 8:38Speaker 2: She thinks it's too masculine. She wants to girl boss
- 8:41Speaker 2: the whole thing up, and a lot of that Wokensissippi
- 8:44Speaker 2: will led into snow white Rachel Ziegler pashed and disparage
- 8:48Speaker 2: the original film. It was a beloved film. It was
- 8:52Speaker 2: an international box office success. Was it was you know,
- 8:56Speaker 2: mostly critically acclaimed. It was a passing project for Walt
- 8:59Speaker 2: Disney himself, and it helped fun the Burbank Park in
- 9:05Speaker 2: southern California. You know, we may not have a Disney
- 9:08Speaker 2: world as we know it today if it were not
- 9:11Speaker 2: for snow White and to put this movie in the
- 9:17Speaker 2: hands of a person who is so vowed, who's twenty
- 9:21Speaker 2: three but thinks she knows everything, and has just further
- 9:24Speaker 2: destroyed an already toxic brand in Disney.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Back with Jerome Hudson at bridebard dot com, entertainment editor,
- 9:34Speaker 1: author of the Fifty Things book. So, is there any
- 9:36Speaker 1: chance while there are some little glimmers of hope in
- 9:41Speaker 1: and around Hollywood since the Trump administration has taken over, Jerome,
- 9:47Speaker 1: is there any chance that a lesson has learned inside
- 9:53Speaker 1: the movie industry, inside Hollywood from this fiasco with Disney
- 9:58Speaker 1: and snow White, that they become more careful about who
- 10:02Speaker 1: they hire for what roles, and how they handle, you know,
- 10:08Speaker 1: just all decisions moving into movie projects moving forward.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Has learned since nineteen ninety four when the Canadian style
- 10:19Speaker 2: tacon center structure sort of cross pollinated to California, is
- 10:25Speaker 2: that Georgia is now the Hollywood or Atlanta, I should
- 10:29Speaker 2: say it now the Hollywood of the South. So the
- 10:32Speaker 2: economic lesson in one part is we will go where
- 10:37Speaker 2: it is economically advantageous for us as an industry to
- 10:41Speaker 2: film movies and TV shows and commercials.
- 10:45Speaker 1: But let me hang on, let me interrupt you for
- 10:46Speaker 1: a second there. But it even if snow White is
- 10:50Speaker 1: filmed in Georgia, it doesn't change much of the bottom
- 10:54Speaker 1: line because of the toxic nature that you outlined so
- 10:57Speaker 1: well of the actress and everything surrounding the film. And
- 11:01Speaker 1: that's what I'm wondering. I'm wondering if this is just
- 11:03Speaker 1: now going to be look at the money they're going
- 11:05Speaker 1: to lose on this thing, all because of an idiot
- 11:09Speaker 1: running the studio and lead actress.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Right, this was so snow Light was never going to
- 11:17Speaker 2: be a film that you know, males, I guess preteen
- 11:22Speaker 2: to the sixty we're going to go see right, So no,
- 11:27Speaker 2: Rachel Ziegler. Should they have known that Rachel Ziegeler guests
- 11:31Speaker 2: a massive social media community and following in presence, Yes,
- 11:36Speaker 2: and they tried to trade on that. But what Disney
- 11:39Speaker 2: couldn't account for is that she's a very toxic woman
- 11:43Speaker 2: who is on the wrong side of the Israel Palestine war.
- 11:47Speaker 2: She's on the wrong side or gender issue, She's on
- 11:50Speaker 2: the wrong side of political issues, and by wrong side
- 11:53Speaker 2: of political issues. I mean, you can support Kamala Harris,
- 11:56Speaker 2: but to damn all Trump's supporters and voters to hell
- 12:00Speaker 2: is essentially what she did in a way like Disney
- 12:03Speaker 2: can't account for that. And this is the new generation.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It's like you talk to any sports coach. The kids
- 12:10Speaker 2: are just different these days, and so Hollywood trying to
- 12:13Speaker 2: navigate that is. You know, there are not a lot
- 12:17Speaker 2: of Rachel Zieglers, and I'm pretty sure lessons will be learned.
- 12:20Speaker 2: But the reports are president that she ignored Disney executives
- 12:24Speaker 2: who were trying to rein her in, trying to explain
- 12:28Speaker 2: to her the simple math that you cannot smear and
- 12:33Speaker 2: castigate half the country.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Well, she bragged people would wait in line to see
- 12:37Speaker 1: her in this movie, and no one waited in line anywhere.
- 12:40Speaker 1: There were previews where the theaters were empty.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I published the story yesterday of those just
- 12:49Speaker 2: a collection of videos of how this snow white bombed
- 12:53Speaker 2: in real time. Again. Disney is a little bit of
- 12:57Speaker 2: an anomaly in the sense, you know, Warner Brothers has
- 13:02Speaker 2: a resident and CEO Wanner Discovery in David Zaslov. This
- 13:05Speaker 2: guy is a slasher, he's a barner, He's no nonsense.
- 13:09Speaker 2: He's about good content, and he's canceled wope projects that
- 13:14Speaker 2: are one hundred million dollars in and so over time,
- 13:19Speaker 2: these we're this is gonna happen again, and it's it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: gonna happen outside of Disney. It's probably more likely to
- 13:25Speaker 2: happen with Disney. But the economics of this are are
- 13:30Speaker 2: are dismal because most of the theaters in this country
- 13:33Speaker 2: are owned by by people like you and me, but
- 13:36Speaker 2: by people listening in the audience right now, they're not
- 13:40Speaker 2: owned by mega corporation. It's now that's changing a little bit.
- 13:43Speaker 2: But Disney going woke is actually hurting the bottom line
- 13:47Speaker 2: of small business multiplex owners, and that is the part
- 13:54Speaker 2: of it. It's because so much of it could be mitigated.
- 13:57Speaker 2: President just make classic movies and TV shows, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 2: like he did for the first eighty five yigures of
- 14:04Speaker 2: your history. This is truly a sad example of going
- 14:09Speaker 2: woke and going broke. It hurts communities with the theaters
- 14:15Speaker 2: and it didn't have to be this way. Mark Read,
- 14:17Speaker 2: the director, is an amazing visionary, but he, you know,
- 14:22Speaker 2: five years in, was given this horrible product that nobody
- 14:27Speaker 2: wants to see because it's star was so toxic.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Well, it might be bad for the business world of
- 14:35Speaker 1: Hollywood and those affiliated with it, but it's great for
- 14:37Speaker 1: your business Jerome and Breitbart dot Com and the entertainment page.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Yeah. I the other side of my mouth, I don't
- 14:46Speaker 2: hesitate to say that, you know it is it is
- 14:49Speaker 2: good content. Look, I would coach up the leftist consultants,
- 14:55Speaker 2: Democrat politicians, but they won't listen. There is an error
- 15:00Speaker 2: gifts right now, even in defeat, even as they have
- 15:03Speaker 2: lost politically, as clearly the country has shifted. I mean,
- 15:07Speaker 2: the data on the election is still coming out. And
- 15:10Speaker 2: if if every Republican registered Republicans voted, Kamala would have lost,
- 15:16Speaker 2: Like Kamala's defeat could have been bigger. It's almost, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 2: a gift that some people just thought that Trump had
- 15:24Speaker 2: it in the bag right in itself is interesting, but
- 15:28Speaker 2: the less they don't get it rest And I mean again,
- 15:31Speaker 2: these are these are people who on the issue of life.
- 15:34Speaker 2: They weren't talking about the emotion and of the the
- 15:40Speaker 2: hard decision that it that it would take to have
- 15:43Speaker 2: an abortion and lost in the pain. These were people
- 15:46Speaker 2: talking about shout your abortion.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I know, I know, tone deaf, my friend tone deaf.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Jerome got to run, brother God bless talk to you soon.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Love you, Love you too, all right.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Jerome Hadson with us bridebart dot com entertainment page editor,
- 16:04Speaker 1: but he waxes on anything, and often does here on
- 16:08Speaker 1: the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
- 16:10Speaker 2: M hmm
