- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and with me as always is Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm ready to learn some more Spanish. What are we doing today? Lucas: Today we're going back to the park, but this time we're focusing on some different playground equipment. Remember from previous episodes we learned el columpio, el tobogán, and el arenero? Luna: Yes! El columpio is the swing, el tobogán is the slide, and el arenero is the sandbox. Lucas: Exactly. Now we're going to learn three more: el sube y baja, la resbaladilla, and el pasamanos. Luna: El sube y baja... that sounds like 'up and down'? Is that a seesaw? Lucas: Yes, you got it! El sube y baja is the seesaw. The word literally means 'up and down'. Let's say it together: el sube y baja. Luna: El sube y baja. That's fun to say. Lucas: Now, la resbaladilla. This is another word for 'slide', but it's different from el tobogán. La resbaladilla is more common in some Latin American countries. Luna: Oh, so it's like a synonym? La resbaladilla. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is, but you'll get it. Try again: la resbaladilla. Luna: La resbaladilla. Okay, I think I've got it. Lucas: And finally, el pasamanos. This is the monkey bars, or literally the 'hand-pass' — you know, the bars you swing across. Luna: Ah, like the overhead ladder thing. El pasamanos. Got it. Lucas: Great. Now let's put them in simple sentences. First: Los niños juegan en el sube y baja. Luna: Los niños juegan en el sube y baja. That means 'The children play on the seesaw.' Lucas: Perfect. Next: Me gusta la resbaladilla. Luna: Me gusta la resbaladilla. 'I like the slide.' Lucas: And: El pasamanos es alto. Luna: El pasamanos es alto. 'The monkey bars are tall.' Wait, is pasamanos singular or plural? Lucas: Good question. El pasamanos is singular, even though it sounds plural. So we say 'es alto', not 'son altos.' Luna: Okay, that's a bit tricky, but I'll remember: el pasamanos es alto. Lucas: Now let's practice all three. Repeat after me: el sube y baja. Luna: El sube y baja. Lucas: La resbaladilla. Luna: La resbaladilla. Lucas: El pasamanos. Luna: El pasamanos. Lucas: Great job. Now, let me tell you a little story. Ayer fui al parque con mi sobrino. Vimos a los niños jugar. Luna: Yesterday you went to the park with your nephew. You saw the children playing. What did they play on? Lucas: Los niños jugaban en el sube y baja y luego en la resbaladilla. Mi sobrino quería subir al pasamanos, pero es muy pequeño. Luna: Aww, so he wanted to try the monkey bars but he's too small. That's cute. So the children played on the seesaw and the slide, and your nephew wanted to climb the monkey bars. Lucas: Exactly. You understood everything. Now, let's do a quick role-play. Imagine you're at the park and you see a seesaw. What do you say? Luna: Umm... ¡Mira, un sube y baja! Look, a seesaw! Lucas: Perfect. And if you like the slide, what do you say? Luna: Me gusta la resbaladilla. Lucas: And if someone asks you about the monkey bars, how do you say they are tall? Luna: El pasamanos es alto. Lucas: You've got it. Now, before we wrap up, I want to mention something. If Fexingo has been helping you learn Spanish, whether it's for a trip or just for fun, consider supporting us. Luna: I'll definitely try to use la resbaladilla next time I see a slide. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: Thanks for joining us. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Spanish with Fexingo.
