- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guess to my home. You
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty, And I said, no, guess,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presence is presence enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how did you dare.
- 0:36Speaker 2: To surbey me.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Quickly? I have to just continue to remind you about
- 0:50Speaker 3: the upcoming live show at the Bellhouse in Brooklyn that's
- 0:54Speaker 3: October thirteenth, and listen to this lineup Bowen Yang, Jeff
- 0:59Speaker 3: Hillery Washington, a little musical surprise from Fenlily. These are
- 1:04Speaker 3: four of my all time favorite guests. If you haven't
- 1:07Speaker 3: listened to their episodes, you should go back and do
- 1:09Speaker 3: that homework before the big event. But right now you
- 1:13Speaker 3: should go to the bellhouseeny dot com for tickets, or
- 1:17Speaker 3: you can get the live stream. And where do we
- 1:19Speaker 3: get the live stream? I'm always forgetting. It's at veeps
- 1:23Speaker 3: dot events slash. I said, no gifts, or you can
- 1:26Speaker 3: look in the episode notes, or you can go to
- 1:28Speaker 3: the Instagram wherever you need to go to find your
- 1:33Speaker 3: path online towards enjoying the show. I expect everyone to
- 1:36Speaker 3: be there, every single one of you. No excuses. Let's
- 1:40Speaker 3: get into the show. Welcome to, I said, no gifts.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I'm Bridgard Weineger. We're in the backyard. We're back in
- 1:48Speaker 3: the backyard, not due to any pressuring or bullying by listeners,
- 1:53Speaker 3: but just by circumstance. You know, the backyard will continue
- 1:56Speaker 3: to be an option in the recording. So no one
- 1:58Speaker 3: freak out or stop freaking out.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Uh.
- 2:02Speaker 3: The temperature is no longer one hundred and eight degrees,
- 2:05Speaker 3: so it's tolerable. The temperature did drive the local fauna
- 2:10Speaker 3: insane and they dug up some of the garden, which
- 2:14Speaker 3: I had to take care of this morning. What else
- 2:18Speaker 3: is happening? I've been watching Mormon the Secret Lives of
- 2:21Speaker 3: Mormon Wives. As I've mentioned, I mean each episode is
- 2:25Speaker 3: a week long, and you maybe we'll get more into
- 2:29Speaker 3: that there. You know, there are a lot of characters.
- 2:31Speaker 3: There's a like several Whitney's, several Mikayla's only one tailor.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Is there anything else we need to talk about? No,
- 2:39Speaker 3: I want to get into the podcast. I adore today's guest.
- 2:42Speaker 3: It's Sam Taggard. Sam. Welcome to, I said, no gifts.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Wow, thank you so much for having me. Of course,
- 2:51Speaker 2: first off, the bat did you do you cave to
- 2:54Speaker 2: listener critique often?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Uh? Not often? Okay, if it's overwhelmed, yeah, I actually
- 3:02Speaker 3: only if I agree.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh I don't.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I would never if there was an overwhelming that demand
- 3:07Speaker 3: and I didn't agree, I wouldn't care. That's nice, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 3: it's a.
- 3:14Speaker 2: It's good. That means you have, you know, integrity. I
- 3:17Speaker 2: feel like I cave instantly.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I mean I do. I did on a recent episode
- 3:22Speaker 3: say that I do cave to mob and I will crumple,
- 3:26Speaker 3: of course, and in front of anything. So maybe we're
- 3:28Speaker 3: just waiting for something bad to come along that they
- 3:30Speaker 3: all demand. What would that be that was so horrible
- 3:34Speaker 3: that I give up my morals for the faceless?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Do it shirtless?
- 3:41Speaker 3: What if I started doing this shirtless?
- 3:44Speaker 2: May be like we love the Papa doing shirtless, it's
- 3:46Speaker 2: gotta be topless, or we're never watching this again. I will.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I will start doing this podcast topless. Or maybe I
- 3:53Speaker 3: started another podcast idea episodes.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You know, I've always wondered this. I'm wondering a lot.
- 4:00Speaker 3: That's this is again this podcast. We stick to a
- 4:03Speaker 3: topic for an hour. Okay, if you can't do that, I'll.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Have you leave. Okay, I've always wondered when people feel
- 4:11Speaker 2: the urge to create a second podcast, like, what does
- 4:14Speaker 2: that interesting? What internally tells you you need another one?
- 4:18Speaker 2: Because not to be I mean needless to say, I
- 4:21Speaker 2: have one of the hardest lives around, and having one
- 4:23Speaker 2: podcast I find to be so so complicated.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It takes up way more time than you would expend.
- 4:28Speaker 2: No one's talking about it, and yet we're still a punchline.
- 4:31Speaker 3: We're absolutely a punchline. We're being worked into the ground,
- 4:35Speaker 3: and everyone thinks we're just doing an hour of recording
- 4:37Speaker 3: each week. No, it's every minute of every day.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Every minute of every day. We have some of the
- 4:42Speaker 2: hardest lives around. We have worked to the damn bone.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I am essentially on the railroad.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So when people start a second one, I'm like, but
- 4:51Speaker 2: can't you just sort of start a new segment within
- 4:52Speaker 2: your one. That's That's where I stand on the on
- 4:55Speaker 2: the issue.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I think it's the listener demand. These people. You know,
- 4:58Speaker 3: people have two, three, four or five podcasts, and I
- 5:02Speaker 3: think that they're just too many listeners. It's eventually you
- 5:06Speaker 3: have to give more product.
- 5:07Speaker 2: No, you're right, I think I do you have trouble
- 5:12Speaker 2: perceiving success. I have.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I have trouble attaining success, but.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Even before attaining I can't even picture what it would
- 5:21Speaker 2: look like.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Oh I don't think you ever. I think it's like boiling,
- 5:24Speaker 3: like the frog boiling, right, Like you get to success
- 5:26Speaker 3: and you're like, well, this doesn't mean anything. I've been
- 5:28Speaker 3: working so long. It doesn't like it's just your life.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Then, because when people are like yeah, I just can't imagine,
- 5:36Speaker 2: like you're a successful person, and by well everyone's successful
- 5:40Speaker 2: in comparison to some other other person, there's no I
- 5:48Speaker 2: you know, I'm not. I'm not starting to podcasts successful.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm not. The fans are clamoring for a second podcast.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Do you have any ideas for a second podcast?
- 5:55Speaker 2: None?
- 5:56Speaker 3: Take my topless idea.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Well, to be fair, I would get ten percent of
- 6:00Speaker 2: your top this idea because it.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Was my idea kind of our co creator or at
- 6:04Speaker 3: least you sparked the idea that I kind of fleshed
- 6:07Speaker 3: out in a big way.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, fleshed out right, Come.
- 6:10Speaker 3: On, maybe that's the name of the podcast. Fleshed out.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Oh, I mean it does. You know. The whole thing
- 6:16Speaker 2: with it being a visual medium, it is like but
- 6:19Speaker 2: but why and and so I think the Shirtless answers
- 6:22Speaker 2: that question really quickly.
- 6:24Speaker 3: What you're saying a podcast is a visual media. Well
- 6:26Speaker 3: know that there's video element that people someone demanded.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And it's it's the damn arms race that we're stuck in.
- 6:33Speaker 3: No one knows who demanded the video podcast that you
- 6:36Speaker 3: have to find out who Patient zero is there.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Someone's lying. Here's what I think someone's lying along the way,
- 6:42Speaker 2: and I don't know who it is because the numb
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think the number, I think YouTube's lying. I think
- 6:47Speaker 2: everybody's lying, and the Instagram lying.
- 6:49Speaker 3: The numbers are always there's always a pivot to video
- 6:52Speaker 3: that no one asks for, and.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Then the success rate is like astronomical, right, and everyone's like, well,
- 6:57Speaker 2: then you should do it too, you have to do it,
- 6:59Speaker 2: And then I'm an, I do it not very astronomical.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Absolutely, no one wants anything to do it.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I've never seen I've never seen astronomical with something I've
- 7:08Speaker 2: put on the internet.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You have to start doing crowd work.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but even that's the thing is I have followed
- 7:14Speaker 2: trends before, and if I were to follow the crowbork trend,
- 7:17Speaker 2: I would be the first one to do crowd work
- 7:19Speaker 2: and not be astronomical.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Can you do crowd work on a podcast. That's the
- 7:24Speaker 3: big question here. We only have one one person in
- 7:28Speaker 3: the crowd on a lease, and on a lease, where
- 7:30Speaker 3: are you from?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Boulder, Colorado?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Well, Boulder, Colorado, more like Mountain Colorado.
- 7:35Speaker 3: See, now this is crowd work. And now that's a
- 7:37Speaker 3: huge viral hit.
- 7:39Speaker 2: This is a huge viral hit.
- 7:40Speaker 3: People are sharing it.
- 7:41Speaker 2: They're saying, that's so true.
- 7:44Speaker 3: This applies to my life. A lot of people in
- 7:47Speaker 3: Boulder who have heard of Boulder.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I bet every person in Boulder will be sharing and saying, finally,
- 7:53Speaker 2: someone said it.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Someone who has heard of Boulder, been to Boulder, is
- 7:58Speaker 3: familiar with the Boulder. Yeah, I mean it a place
- 8:03Speaker 3: to almost every person in the United States, that's every
- 8:05Speaker 3: English speaking person. Yes, so that's how you create a
- 8:09Speaker 3: viral clip.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Well, I think we should post yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And that's what and that's when we'll realize, Oh, it
- 8:14Speaker 3: was a smart move to pivot to video.
- 8:17Speaker 2: It's true.
- 8:18Speaker 3: But I don't think the numbers are going to translate.
- 8:21Speaker 2: No, they never do.
- 8:22Speaker 3: They do not translate.
- 8:23Speaker 2: You never do. I'm still waiting. You know, I do
- 8:25Speaker 2: post podcast clips, and you know every day I say
- 8:29Speaker 2: this at some point there's just supposed to take off, right,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and every day they managed to not. And I say,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you know what, maybe I'll be the first person to
- 8:39Speaker 2: continually post and have them do very mediocre to bad
- 8:43Speaker 2: And that's okay?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Are you posting them to Instagram and TikTok?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeahs to Instagram TikTok is like a scary place to
- 8:51Speaker 2: post a video. Well, you're basically posting it there to
- 8:53Speaker 2: get made fun of eventually. It might not be now,
- 8:57Speaker 2: but it'll happen.
- 8:58Speaker 3: You're posting it there for something to go wrong, hoping
- 9:01Speaker 3: something kind of goes wrong.
- 9:02Speaker 2: This how okay? How do you feel about.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Things going wrong in life?
- 9:07Speaker 2: Like, I'm obsessed currently with the idea I've been very
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'll say it, I'm a well liked person in my
- 9:16Speaker 2: community and if that's a crime, and lock me up
- 9:18Speaker 2: and throw away the key. But I've been recently like
- 9:21Speaker 2: all these people that are wildly successful are actually not
- 9:24Speaker 2: always well liked by everyone in their community. And in fact,
- 9:28Speaker 2: if you can go viral bad, that's as good as
- 9:31Speaker 2: going viral good, right, And.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I mean, I'm currently thinking about somebody kind of within
- 9:37Speaker 3: our shared community who's gone very viral for a few
- 9:41Speaker 3: years who I just despise as a person.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Well, of course, and I would love to know who?
- 9:47Speaker 3: Can you say podcast? But what if you like him?
- 9:50Speaker 3: And then the moon?
- 9:52Speaker 2: But that would be good actually, because that would make
- 9:55Speaker 2: this a viral moment?
- 9:56Speaker 3: Should I say it? And then we'll either be for edited.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah, oh of course, of course there's no okay, that's
- 10:06Speaker 2: there's some people where you're like you obviously.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Well, for a long time I felt very alone in
- 10:12Speaker 3: thinking this really.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well was it because of the pandemic.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Because of the pandemic. That's when it all happened, right,
- 10:19Speaker 3: And then I started seeing people in person and it
- 10:22Speaker 3: started sharing. We started sharing this with each other, and
- 10:25Speaker 3: it felt like I've got a new community. This is
- 10:29Speaker 3: my found family.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that whole thing that I mean. But that
- 10:34Speaker 2: actually did shift my perspective at least where I was like, oh,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I guess if you're fucking losing your mind on Instagram,
- 10:44Speaker 2: it will actually lead to many television deals and and
- 10:50Speaker 2: like somehow a global fan base. I've never I was
- 10:55Speaker 2: really like, oh, I guess I need to like not
- 10:57Speaker 2: think about what I'm doing at all. I think that's
- 11:00Speaker 2: the lesson, And I keep trying to learn it, but
- 11:02Speaker 2: I can't learn it.
- 11:03Speaker 3: It's a prison. Yes, you'll probably never escape it. This
- 11:06Speaker 3: is how I feel where I'm like some people, it
- 11:08Speaker 3: just flows out of them. They just you crash enough cars,
- 11:11Speaker 3: people are gonna start looking. But I can't crash single car.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I can't crush a car because I'm like, well, it's
- 11:16Speaker 2: gonna cost.
- 11:17Speaker 3: A lot, it's gonna cost a lot of money, and
- 11:19Speaker 3: the insurance will go up and people are gonna stop
- 11:21Speaker 3: trusting me. Yes, people know me as someone who doesn't
- 11:24Speaker 3: crash cars.
- 11:25Speaker 2: This is the problem with being well liked in your community.
- 11:28Speaker 3: And I'm not wow, but yeah, I'm trying to think
- 11:35Speaker 3: of people. I mean, there are people who are well
- 11:38Speaker 3: liked in communities who go viral. I mean I can
- 11:43Speaker 3: think of some, but it's a rare breed, a rare breed,
- 11:48Speaker 3: and you have to really be an exceptional person.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like we've really reached an end point
- 11:59Speaker 3: with talking about going viral.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Well, I even mean, I even and I obviously don't
- 12:05Speaker 2: every opinion I have. I also don't have first and foremost,
- 12:08Speaker 2: but I even mean, like what, like what's wrong? Like,
- 12:12Speaker 2: for example, I'm now mid thirties, right, and like, what
- 12:17Speaker 2: like crazy thing has happened to me that I'm like
- 12:19Speaker 2: writing a book about. It's like, actually nothing, because I've
- 12:22Speaker 2: been really like responsible the whole way.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I was thinking about this last night. I was thinking,
- 12:27Speaker 3: I don't have crazy stories because I make smart decisions.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I like, yes, I'll go out, but I'll be like, Okay,
- 12:33Speaker 2: that's enough, And it's like, well, there should still be
- 12:37Speaker 2: space for me. There should be.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Space for someone who's just lived a very ordinary life,
- 12:42Speaker 3: who's taken all of the correct measures and is well liked.
- 12:47Speaker 2: That's a hard thing to do. It's harder than getting
- 12:51Speaker 2: addicted to drugs.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It is, it's much harder. My problem is is I'm like, well,
- 12:57Speaker 3: maybe I start making wilder choices. But the problem is
- 13:00Speaker 3: is I'm gonna overcorrect and I'm gonna make the worst choices,
- 13:04Speaker 3: and probably the first one will lead to my death.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Of course, but then someone's writing a book about me
- 13:08Speaker 3: and again getting a book deal before I do.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Of course, that is true. I really well also, like
- 13:17Speaker 2: now everyone, because we've set up this reputation for ourselves,
- 13:21Speaker 2: it's sort of the we are all just moving forward
- 13:24Speaker 2: in it no matter what, even if like we will
- 13:26Speaker 2: only disappoint what people think we are rather than be
- 13:29Speaker 2: like this new cool thing, be like, oh, he's just
- 13:32Speaker 2: I liked him because he was responsible.
- 13:33Speaker 3: All right, that's not the person that I started liking. Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 3: that's a person for other people.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we need to move to London and then get
- 13:40Speaker 2: to the drugs.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Go back to college, a new college. Nobody knows your.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Name, nobody knows. That'll be perfect because and luckily they
- 13:50Speaker 2: won't know because none the clips have gone viral.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Exactly, we are absolutely unknown to everyone. It's a real
- 13:59Speaker 3: I think at our time we might just have to die. No,
- 14:04Speaker 3: I'm afraid we might have to die, Like, what do
- 14:07Speaker 3: you mean? And then people will be sharing about us online.
- 14:10Speaker 3: They'll say, remember Sam, he was so great, we all
- 14:14Speaker 3: loved him, wish we could have him back, wish we
- 14:16Speaker 3: had shared more of his content.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's maybe why people get married. It's like
- 14:23Speaker 2: so that you can everyone can, you can get that
- 14:25Speaker 2: post moment, right exactly. That's why you either like sell
- 14:30Speaker 2: a TV show or get or get married.
- 14:32Speaker 3: And then but after those two things, what are you doing?
- 14:35Speaker 3: Then you have to start doing hard drugs because there
- 14:37Speaker 3: you're still chasing this high and then is it like, well,
- 14:40Speaker 3: now heroin or or baby a baby? But then again
- 14:46Speaker 3: then heroin? Why so many parents do heroin? It's really
- 14:51Speaker 3: a tough game, right, It's a life.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Needing and needing to keep eyes on you at.
- 14:56Speaker 3: All, being absolutely obsessed with the tension. And that's what
- 15:02Speaker 3: makes our lives. That's what we're working so hard for.
- 15:05Speaker 3: And people don't realize that we're sweating.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Of course, work to the bone. It's harder than you think.
- 15:12Speaker 2: We have some of the hardest sizes around. I'll die
- 15:15Speaker 2: on that hill.
- 15:19Speaker 3: This is kind of slightly related, but I am watching
- 15:22Speaker 3: The More Secret Lives of Mormon. Have you seen any
- 15:25Speaker 3: of the show?
- 15:26Speaker 2: I have seen clips on Twitter.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Simply the most boring television show.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Oh why are people talking about it like it's not
- 15:32Speaker 2: They're lying? I hate when people do this.
- 15:35Speaker 3: There is I mean, I'm going to watch every single episode,
- 15:37Speaker 3: of course, but it nothing. Nothing is happening in the show.
- 15:42Speaker 3: These are six of the most boring people they could
- 15:45Speaker 3: have possibly ever found. But it is fun to watch
- 15:49Speaker 3: because they're constantly saying mom talk, and.
- 15:52Speaker 2: That's why people are talking about been talking about mom talk.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Mom? Do you know what mom talk is like? Mom TikTok,
- 15:58Speaker 3: which I guess these created or claim to have created
- 16:03Speaker 3: or brought to the forefront. Sure, and they're constantly talking
- 16:06Speaker 3: about how will mom talk survive? Is this good for
- 16:09Speaker 3: mom talk? But nowhere in the show is is it ever?
- 16:12Speaker 3: Like it's such a nebulous like if you weren't familiar
- 16:15Speaker 3: with them or the word mom talk and just we're
- 16:18Speaker 3: watching this show, random episode, you'd have absolutely no idea
- 16:21Speaker 3: what they were talking about. It's not like a football
- 16:23Speaker 3: team where you see them playing football or whatever. They're
- 16:26Speaker 3: never doing anything.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Are they influencers? I guess Okay.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I mean they can't all there's no way all six
- 16:33Speaker 3: of them are great influencers. You know one of them
- 16:36Speaker 3: is getting low numbers.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Well, I would I would assume it would show in
- 16:40Speaker 2: the power dynamics of the friend group.
- 16:42Speaker 3: That's probably true. There's Taylor and Whitney and they're kind
- 16:44Speaker 3: of the lead goals and then I can't even remember
- 16:46Speaker 3: the rest of their Mikayla and some other Sure, sure,
- 16:53Speaker 3: but you know they're just kind of wandering around drinking
- 16:56Speaker 3: soda and the drama is bare there. The fact that
- 17:01Speaker 3: people are talking about the show like it's exciting on
- 17:03Speaker 3: the Internet is again, the Internet cannot be trusted.
- 17:07Speaker 2: You really can't be trusted. I mean, that's how we
- 17:09Speaker 2: got your enemy that you mentioned before.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, yeah, of course. The Internet brings these
- 17:15Speaker 3: people right to the top and they're all screaming about it.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And to make sure you're a home alone feeling absolutely
- 17:20Speaker 3: out of your mind.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Uh huh uh huh.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I've been left behind by the human race.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It does feel that way. I generally have sort of like,
- 17:29Speaker 2: wait two years with most especially reality shows. Oh sure, sure,
- 17:34Speaker 2: because the Internet loves to talk about everything, literally anything
- 17:38Speaker 2: with like the grandest terms, and for some reason, reality
- 17:41Speaker 2: especially right, And so I'm sort of like I'm gonna
- 17:44Speaker 2: like I fell for Tiger King, okay, right, And I
- 17:47Speaker 2: said enough, like and like love is blind, Like people
- 17:52Speaker 2: act like it's the fucking super Bowl every season, I know,
- 17:54Speaker 2: And I'm like, I watched season one. I get it.
- 17:57Speaker 2: That's enough.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I don't need to twenty minutes. I got it.
- 18:00Speaker 2: It's not fun.
- 18:02Speaker 3: It's not fun. It's not dynamic. No, it's very like,
- 18:06Speaker 3: it's very just static and weird.
- 18:09Speaker 2: And it's like, I guess, notable because it's different than
- 18:12Speaker 2: the reality shows. Akay, bad, but I don't get why.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I'm just I'm not trying to be pretentious. No, but
- 18:22Speaker 2: I have only one life.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Because pretentious as you want, and.
- 18:27Speaker 2: There's so much stuff that I should be consuming, sometimes.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Of good stuff. You're right, And I guess you get
- 18:35Speaker 3: a pass for Tiger King because it was early pandemic.
- 18:38Speaker 2: We're looking for community, and it was more.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Of a documentary.
- 18:42Speaker 2: That's true.
- 18:43Speaker 3: It wasn't quite reality show, right, I mean it had
- 18:46Speaker 3: the level of trash of a reality show, yeah, but
- 18:50Speaker 3: was more edited and filmed like a documentary.
- 18:53Speaker 2: There does need to be another name for it, because
- 18:56Speaker 2: there are these documentaries that are like clearly meant to
- 18:59Speaker 2: be true, like trash right, right, but they have the
- 19:03Speaker 2: sheen of a documentary. So you're like, well, it's not
- 19:05Speaker 2: bad for me.
- 19:06Speaker 3: It's a I mean, it's not a docuseries because that again,
- 19:09Speaker 3: can just be a regular documentary.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds tasteful.
- 19:12Speaker 3: A reality docuseries, a reality a mental health check in.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Have you ever heard someone use the word streamium? No,
- 19:25Speaker 3: like premium streaming, so like, can you imagine I can't
- 19:30Speaker 3: believe I even recorded my voices said recorded, just like prestige.
- 19:35Speaker 3: I think it means like prestigious streaming content. Okay, And
- 19:40Speaker 3: I've heard people say that before, and it's just you
- 19:44Speaker 3: get to places in life you find yourself in rooms
- 19:47Speaker 3: with people saying things like that, and you do wonder
- 19:50Speaker 3: should I turn back?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:52Speaker 3: But and now I've said it, and I'm helping spread
- 19:55Speaker 3: this word.
- 19:58Speaker 2: You know. You know, we all have to be talking
- 20:03Speaker 2: at all times, and it does make things complicated because
- 20:07Speaker 2: because we're talking constantly, and everyone's talking constantly, we have
- 20:10Speaker 2: to come up with new things to talk about. So
- 20:12Speaker 2: new things have to come up, so sometimes you have
- 20:15Speaker 2: to invent them. Right.
- 20:16Speaker 3: The vocabulary has to continue expanding, and sometimes it's empty.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Sometimes it's just created to have something new to.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Talk about, right, and look at it's done for us.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Right here, they're having this rich conversation about streamium programming.
- 20:28Speaker 2: So what counts of streamium?
- 20:30Speaker 3: That's the good? That's a good question, because most streaming
- 20:33Speaker 3: stuff is the same price. You know, it's all like
- 20:36Speaker 3: what it's between ten and twenty dollars.
- 20:39Speaker 2: At this point.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Sure, So what what of that is premium? We all,
- 20:44Speaker 3: I mean, especially the same. They're all the same. They're
- 20:47Speaker 3: almost all bad, that's true. There's none of them stand
- 20:50Speaker 3: out does a single one of these things that you
- 20:53Speaker 3: pay for stand out? Is like, oh, that one's really
- 20:56Speaker 3: it's they have integrity.
- 20:57Speaker 2: No, well, I'm like Hulu, I don't know, that's the only.
- 21:02Speaker 3: One, like a shell company.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That's true, but it wasn't. The problem is like all
- 21:10Speaker 2: are shells. They all were good at one point. It's
- 21:14Speaker 2: just yeah, it's a race to the bottom.
- 21:16Speaker 3: And Hulu is showing the secret lives of Mormon.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Is that where it is? Yeah, never mind, I'm pretty ignorant.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'm pretty ignorant about what is on specific streaming sites.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Purposefully or you're just by nature, don't care.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think it just it just takes a lot to learn, right,
- 21:39Speaker 2: you know, there's so much in there, And I'm like,
- 21:42Speaker 2: I'm a person that like can't really plan ahead, like
- 21:45Speaker 2: I won't know what like if I'll enjoy it, Like
- 21:48Speaker 2: before an event and someone's like, is it gonna be fun,
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'll be like, I don't know. I have no opinion
- 21:54Speaker 2: on whether this will be fun or not.
- 21:55Speaker 3: That's an unfair question.
- 21:57Speaker 2: But sometimes some people will be like it won't be because
- 21:59Speaker 2: of this, or it will be because of this, And
- 22:01Speaker 2: I'm sort of like I'm going and I don't know
- 22:03Speaker 2: how I feel at all until the moment I walk
- 22:06Speaker 2: in the doors. Right.
- 22:07Speaker 3: How often is there an event you're going to that
- 22:10Speaker 3: you're certain is going to be unfund other than church? Never,
- 22:16Speaker 3: Like I guess if you're going to a party of
- 22:18Speaker 3: a horrible person, but the thing is.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Of course maybe even more fun.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You don't worry about it, of course, no pressure at all.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Maybe if I'm like extra tired, then I'll be like,
- 22:27Speaker 2: I'll be fun because I'm extra tired.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Okay, And that feels like a separate thing. That does
- 22:32Speaker 3: feel like that feels like your issue, not the event's issue.
- 22:36Speaker 2: That's true, so it's true. Will listen, that'd be fun
- 22:41Speaker 2: for you. No, because I'm extra tired.
- 22:47Speaker 3: How did we get here?
- 22:49Speaker 2: Oh? Because streaming services, I feel like, are the party
- 22:51Speaker 2: of Like I don't know what's on anything until I
- 22:54Speaker 2: open it, right, and then I'm like, oh, this is
- 22:57Speaker 2: what's on here.
- 22:58Speaker 3: It is interesting how quickly the rest of us, and
- 23:01Speaker 3: I'm sorry to exclude you, please, how quickly we're able
- 23:04Speaker 3: to learn and know that information about different streaming services
- 23:08Speaker 3: and where each piece of content. It's very odd because
- 23:11Speaker 3: there's nothing else in my life that I'm able to
- 23:13Speaker 3: just immediately put that information in my head.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I don't even Yeah, I have to write everything down.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I'm not a person who remembers. I hate when video
- 23:24Speaker 2: games don't have like a clear, like list of.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Things I need that. If I take two days off
- 23:31Speaker 3: a video game, I'm lost.
- 23:32Speaker 2: And that's so crazy.
- 23:35Speaker 3: It's too much. I can't handle this.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Give I'll give up.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I'll say, well, I put in a lot of work
- 23:40Speaker 3: and now it's not helping me anymore.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Because even if I'm like, okay, tutorial where like I'll
- 23:44Speaker 2: have to like look in the right, but you did
- 23:46Speaker 2: all this wrong, and I'm like, well, I don't know
- 23:47Speaker 2: where I am. I don't even know which direction I'm walking.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I don't know if I was walking in the right,
- 23:52Speaker 2: like forward or backward.
- 23:55Speaker 3: You're describing real brain deterioration. Something's actually going on.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That's true.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Podcasting podcasts, and have you have you heard of this
- 24:11Speaker 3: video game Astrobot? No, I've been playing this thing for
- 24:14Speaker 3: like six days straight.
- 24:16Speaker 2: What is it?
- 24:17Speaker 3: You're just a little robot flying through space. It's the
- 24:20Speaker 3: most joyful thing that I've done in I mean, it's
- 24:23Speaker 3: solving all my problems. Really, absolutely wonderful and it's the
- 24:26Speaker 3: sort of thing that you you don't need a list
- 24:29Speaker 3: of a checklist, you know, do you fight? You like,
- 24:32Speaker 3: knock little creatures out of your way. You're flying around.
- 24:36Speaker 3: It's beautiful. I mean, I just can't get enough of it.
- 24:38Speaker 3: It's really taken. But like I've just been on my
- 24:40Speaker 3: couch for a week. Wow, Mormon wives that I hate
- 24:45Speaker 3: to say it. Chimp Crazy? What's this now?
- 24:49Speaker 2: See?
- 24:49Speaker 3: This is really interesting. Chim Crazy is the new docuseriies
- 24:52Speaker 3: from the creator of Tiger King. Is it good? It's again,
- 24:59Speaker 3: it's really hard to say. I mean it does. It
- 25:02Speaker 3: is interesting? Okay, it's extremely bleak.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Wait, someone was telling me about this. It covers the
- 25:08Speaker 2: lady whose face got ripped off.
- 25:10Speaker 3: She's part of it. I mean you see some footage
- 25:12Speaker 3: and hear some footage which is unbelievably horrifying.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I mean you're hearing the nine to one one call all.
- 25:20Speaker 3: But it's about mostly about this other woman who owns
- 25:24Speaker 3: chimps and various things, and you follow her and it's
- 25:28Speaker 3: it's not Tiger King was like kind of trashy fun.
- 25:31Speaker 3: This is like you feel bad almost the entire time
- 25:34Speaker 3: because to see a chimp with like a Lee shan
- 25:37Speaker 3: Is there's something really dark about us.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's less ideal.
- 25:41Speaker 3: I mean there are some moments with this woman where
- 25:43Speaker 3: you know she's getting her lips plumped or whatever, and
- 25:46Speaker 3: it's like, oh yeah, I love of course, we love
- 25:47Speaker 3: to watch a trashy person do make themselves look crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 3: But then we get back to someone's face getting ripped off,
- 25:54Speaker 3: and I mean the swings are pretty violent. I would say, oh.
- 25:57Speaker 2: God, wait, I'm realizing I got to sort of hop
- 26:01Speaker 2: in and maybe I'm wrong on this. Were you former Mormon?
- 26:06Speaker 3: I am? Yeah?
- 26:07Speaker 2: So does it hit different?
- 26:09Speaker 3: What Jim Crazy?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Now? What's the other show? Sex sizes of wives?
- 26:21Speaker 3: Jim Crazy has been a very different experience for me
- 26:23Speaker 3: personally based on my religious upbringing. No, it has. It
- 26:28Speaker 3: has hit differently, I think because have you ever seen
- 26:31Speaker 3: Salt Lake City Housewives? No love that show. I adore
- 26:34Speaker 3: that show. That's the first real one of these things
- 26:36Speaker 3: I've ever gotten into. But it's not like a real
- 26:38Speaker 3: look at Mormon or Utah culture. This thing that i've
- 26:44Speaker 3: the Housewives, No, they I mean my Mormon WI that
- 26:49Speaker 3: thing is a real like it feels truly like a
- 26:53Speaker 3: document of Utah culture, you know, way or like the
- 26:56Speaker 3: bad parts of Utah culture, where everyone's drinking a soda
- 26:58Speaker 3: that's like this big and it's all full of coffee creamer.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And these women are like between twenty and thirty. I
- 27:05Speaker 3: don't even know how to describe them. I mean, they're
- 27:07Speaker 3: very immature. I mean because most of them got married
- 27:10Speaker 3: when they were like nineteen, right, right, and so they
- 27:12Speaker 3: just haven't read. But now they're like trying to break
- 27:14Speaker 3: out of it. And it's like watching somebody like a
- 27:16Speaker 3: thirteen year old like, yeah, get the keys to the car.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So it's tough.
- 27:20Speaker 3: It's very tough.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I wonder if maybe it feels boring to you because
- 27:26Speaker 2: you're like, well, yeah, none of this is shocking to me.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Interesting, great, great question. Yeah that might be true, but
- 27:34Speaker 3: that's also part of the appeal for me. Sure, but
- 27:36Speaker 3: other people must be like, what is happening?
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, this is wild.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Every one of these people lives like in a beige void.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Every one of their homes is just unbelievably colorless. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 3: and it's that and then they're drinking soda. That's essentially
- 27:52Speaker 3: the show.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Wow.
- 27:54Speaker 3: So I mean, I don't know if I'm selling this
- 27:56Speaker 3: to you or not?
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, unfortunately, I am addicted to being a
- 28:03Speaker 2: part of a conversation, right, so I may if people
- 28:06Speaker 2: keep talking about it, I will have to watch to
- 28:09Speaker 2: be able to be part of the conversation.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Well, this is the thing. It's only eight episodes, so
- 28:14Speaker 3: if you can stick it out for another like week
- 28:16Speaker 3: or two, you won't have to be part of any conversation.
- 28:18Speaker 2: That's the hope.
- 28:19Speaker 3: And then you wait if it gets picked up for
- 28:20Speaker 3: a second season, then you start considering, do I prepare
- 28:23Speaker 3: myself to be part of the real conversation. But there's
- 28:27Speaker 3: a chance it just gets washed away into the Hulu
- 28:31Speaker 3: world and you never have to think about it again.
- 28:33Speaker 2: That could be cool, that could be awesome. I mostly watch.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I'm realizing I'm trying to gauge what I watch. I
- 28:39Speaker 2: watch a couple of Therapy.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Do you watch all Therapy? Unbelievable show, so incredible. I
- 28:45Speaker 3: mean I've watched all of it.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm in season four right now.
- 28:48Speaker 3: It's such a beautiful I mean, it just is such
- 28:51Speaker 3: a comforting, fascinating show.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah. We watched like.
- 28:56Speaker 3: All four seasons and maybe a week and a half
- 28:58Speaker 3: could not stop watching. Yeah, and the episodes are what
- 29:01Speaker 3: twenty five minutes or something, which, again think everything. Have
- 29:05Speaker 3: you had a favorite couple?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Not a favorite necessarily, but like I was in talking
- 29:11Speaker 2: about the hearing on the Mormon stuff again, there was
- 29:13Speaker 2: the Mormon couple. The former Mormon couples were rough, and
- 29:16Speaker 2: I was like, this is so sad because they're like try,
- 29:19Speaker 2: like she's so traumatized, and they got married when they
- 29:22Speaker 2: were seventeen nineteen, and it's.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Like neither of them really knows how to live a
- 29:28Speaker 3: life or they don't know how to handle these issues
- 29:31Speaker 3: in a larger sense.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Like I did everything sort of out of order, where
- 29:35Speaker 2: it's like, yeah, now you want to be twenty right,
- 29:38Speaker 2: you're like thirty forty or something, and.
- 29:41Speaker 3: It's like, yes, those two And I think on top
- 29:45Speaker 3: of that, I think they're both annoying well needless to say,
- 29:47Speaker 3: which really adds to their problem.
- 29:50Speaker 2: That really does add to the problem. I actually it's
- 29:55Speaker 2: so funny to watch that show and obviously be like
- 29:58Speaker 2: which one of you do I hate? And I always
- 30:01Speaker 2: like to go back and forth. I'm like, wow, life
- 30:04Speaker 2: is so complex.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Life is extremely complex. I mean, most of the time
- 30:08Speaker 3: I can zero in on which person in the couple
- 30:11Speaker 3: I know is the problem, but there are some that
- 30:14Speaker 3: are more wishy washy. The most clear one I think
- 30:17Speaker 3: he's in season one. Do you remember this guy who
- 30:20Speaker 3: was just horrible that's the only character. Yes, yeah, that's
- 30:25Speaker 3: the only way I can describe you. Oh, he loved
- 30:27Speaker 3: birthday parties or something.
- 30:28Speaker 2: It was like they had they had trauma around, like
- 30:31Speaker 2: like whenever it was his birthday. She was like, let's
- 30:33Speaker 2: do a weird sex thing because I know how horny
- 30:35Speaker 2: you always are, and he was like, well, now that
- 30:38Speaker 2: you asked me what we were texting, I don't want
- 30:40Speaker 2: to do it anymore.
- 30:42Speaker 3: It was just a trap of a person. Yeah, and
- 30:44Speaker 3: the way he spoke was annoying. Oh, it pissed me
- 30:47Speaker 3: off immediately. You're not on board with him from the
- 30:50Speaker 3: first second he starts talking. Yeah, just like this person
- 30:52Speaker 3: is so terrible.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I think the worst guy though, was I think it
- 30:57Speaker 2: was like the I think it was the three who
- 31:01Speaker 2: was like truly just like, well, we're here to talk
- 31:03Speaker 2: about her anger and like she was like yeah, like it.
- 31:07Speaker 2: She was sort of like, yeah, it's totally my fault.
- 31:10Speaker 2: And she was like, oh, so what are you so
- 31:12Speaker 2: angry about? And she was like, oh, well, he's always
- 31:14Speaker 2: cheating on me.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I don't remember this couple at all what.
- 31:18Speaker 2: It was, so she like almost she was like, I
- 31:20Speaker 2: don't think I can be At some point she was
- 31:22Speaker 2: like I cannot be your therapist. And they were like,
- 31:24Speaker 2: we'll try to be better, and he did sort of
- 31:27Speaker 2: try to be better, but it was like so they
- 31:29Speaker 2: had to go to such a roundabout way to get
- 31:31Speaker 2: him to actually speak.
- 31:32Speaker 3: And did it actually work out in the.
- 31:35Speaker 2: End, it did help them. I don't know where it like,
- 31:38Speaker 2: where it is?
- 31:39Speaker 3: How do I not remember them?
- 31:41Speaker 2: It was it was very tense, like I would have
- 31:43Speaker 2: to like pace around and like I was like, I
- 31:45Speaker 2: cannot watch another episode of this man.
- 31:47Speaker 3: But then you get to Orna. Anytime the camera turns
- 31:49Speaker 3: back to Orna, you know you're in a safe spot
- 31:52Speaker 3: for me. Yeah, she's I mean the way she speaks,
- 31:54Speaker 3: the way she gestures, and when she gets mad at
- 31:57Speaker 3: somebody or when she's annoyed, it feels so good. I mean,
- 32:00Speaker 3: what a show, What a damn show.
- 32:02Speaker 2: And I really talk about not understanding what is entertainment.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I was like when hearing about that show, I was like,
- 32:09Speaker 2: I don't see how this is fun. To watch. Oh,
- 32:12Speaker 2: of course that's how I was people sitting in chairs
- 32:15Speaker 2: and just chatting like visual podcasts.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Why is not as big as that? I should be orna.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Your other podcast should be talking about me.
- 32:26Speaker 2: You're the partner of the inside about the Mormon thing
- 32:28Speaker 2: because you were Mormon and someone was boring make me
- 32:31Speaker 2: or wow?
- 32:36Speaker 3: Well, I actually think we have to talk about something else. Oh, look,
- 32:41Speaker 3: I was looking forward to having you here.
- 32:43Speaker 2: He was.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I thought, Sam's wonderful. How could we not have a
- 32:46Speaker 3: good time. He'll leave and everything will be fine. Yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 3: the podcast is called I said no gifts.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:54Speaker 3: As we've discussed at length, we both are familiar with
- 32:57Speaker 3: how difficult it is to podcast, how it is number
- 33:01Speaker 3: one most stressful job in the world. Yes, so I
- 33:06Speaker 3: was a little It felt unfair when I walked into
- 33:10Speaker 3: the backyard and saw that you had brought what is
- 33:12Speaker 3: clearly a gift for me.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's true. You know, I was just feeling
- 33:17Speaker 2: like I want to be bad. You know, I'm trying
- 33:19Speaker 2: to start a new met.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Oh interesting your first step.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yes, so I was trying to make a splash. I
- 33:24Speaker 2: thought maybe i'd be the first guest to bring a gift.
- 33:26Speaker 3: You thought, this is the book deal?
- 33:28Speaker 2: Yeah? Literally, I was like, our entire community is going
- 33:32Speaker 2: to shake in their boots when they hear about what
- 33:34Speaker 2: I did on the podcast.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Well, okay, that's an excellent, excellent reasoning. Yeah, should I
- 33:41Speaker 3: open it here on.
- 33:42Speaker 2: The podcast please? I would be so honored.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Okay, it's in this gorgeous bag that's kind of got
- 33:49Speaker 3: some holiday flowers on it. Yeah, oh, I've dropped it.
- 33:54Speaker 2: It's not fragile. I hope you don't already have one.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I hope you don't already have one.
- 34:00Speaker 3: It's Chromatica on CD.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Yeah, do you already have one?
- 34:08Speaker 3: I thought four? Do you actually three of them are sealed?
- 34:11Speaker 2: Do you know? Because can I tell you please? I
- 34:16Speaker 2: have three? You have three and two of them are sealed.
- 34:19Speaker 3: But no, that can't be true.
- 34:20Speaker 2: That's true.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Wait what I explained? Explain?
- 34:24Speaker 2: Well? I was, you know, we all lost our minds
- 34:28Speaker 2: in different ways in the pandemic. Yes, one of my
- 34:30Speaker 2: ways was being so obsessed with Gaga and Chromatica and
- 34:36Speaker 2: buying merch, like anytime I felt bad and so, and
- 34:42Speaker 2: with some of the merch came a CD. Interesting, So
- 34:46Speaker 2: then I have like three CDs?
- 34:50Speaker 3: Do you have a CD player.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Well in my car okay, right right, yeah, I have
- 34:54Speaker 2: a vintage car just in the eleven.
- 34:58Speaker 3: So how much merch did you buy?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Well? I have one, two, three, four T shirts.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Okay, five T shirts incredible? Yeah yeah yeah, any totes,
- 35:11Speaker 3: water bottles, key chains.
- 35:13Speaker 2: No, I was pretty focused on a vinyl.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Of course, the vinyl, right yeah, interesting album to have
- 35:18Speaker 3: on vinyl.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Well, I think you're you know, you're coming from a
- 35:22Speaker 2: logical place.
- 35:25Speaker 3: I actually, I really feel like I'm making a very
- 35:28Speaker 3: good point.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, but you're not coming from an emotional place.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Traumatica should only be a digital product, I think.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Well, I think she would disagree. It's sold on the
- 35:37Speaker 2: online store as a vinyl.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Maybe it wasn't her choice. I assume it wasn't her choice.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Kind of got out of her hands, you know.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I think she's a true artists and everything that she
- 35:46Speaker 2: puts out is her choice. I think there's a lot
- 35:50Speaker 2: of thought but in every single piece, but like a.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Big club dance album on vinyl, at Home feels like
- 36:02Speaker 3: one of the most insane things you could have. Yeah,
- 36:05Speaker 3: but have you played the vinyl?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Maybe like once?
- 36:08Speaker 3: Because am I am?
- 36:09Speaker 2: I wrong?
- 36:10Speaker 3: It feels like you want to have quick you're of course.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Right, But I honestly do listen to this album start
- 36:16Speaker 2: to finish plenty of times, even today, And so it's
- 36:23Speaker 2: not crazy. It just takes the right uh that sort
- 36:27Speaker 2: of let's say, like you come home from a party
- 36:29Speaker 2: and you're like, you know what'd be crazy if we
- 36:31Speaker 2: put on the chromatic of vinyl.
- 36:33Speaker 3: To me, it feels like preheating the oven to eat
- 36:35Speaker 3: a candy bar, if that makes any sense at all.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Like it's just.
- 36:40Speaker 2: This, this is coming from someone that doesn't cook, you
- 36:42Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like, like you're you're forgetting that
- 36:48Speaker 2: there's so much beauty in the in sort of this
- 36:51Speaker 2: the small things in right, and and finding the chromatic
- 36:54Speaker 2: of vinyl and and blowing the dust off, carefully placing
- 37:01Speaker 2: it and taking the needle and dropping it.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Down right, the love the labor, you know, it's just and.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Then it goes my name and you're like ah, and
- 37:11Speaker 2: then you're like, and now I put the vinyl on.
- 37:13Speaker 2: So now I'm gonna sit here.
- 37:14Speaker 3: For forty forty three minutes.
- 37:16Speaker 2: That's not that long, very tasteful.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Yeah, So these albums are getting too long.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Don't even get me started.
- 37:24Speaker 3: They're all trying to game the system.
- 37:26Speaker 2: They're literally trying to post reels. But for music, oh interesting,
- 37:30Speaker 2: and it's like, stop it. Stop trying to game, stop
- 37:33Speaker 2: trying to fix the numbers. Just put out something that
- 37:35Speaker 2: people like, Yes, have some integrity, have an ounce, believe
- 37:39Speaker 2: in yourself a little bit. Also, do you need to
- 37:41Speaker 2: be the biggest of all time and just put on
- 37:43Speaker 2: a smaller album and be beloved forever?
- 37:46Speaker 3: Right, be known as this person who had some restraint something.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Time will look back fondly.
- 37:52Speaker 3: On you, right, I mean, I guess everyone's just so desperate.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Everyone's clawing, clawing, clawing, It's true, But I mean, just
- 38:01Speaker 3: hold it together. A pop album should not be more
- 38:04Speaker 3: than forty three minutes. No, forty three is even kind
- 38:06Speaker 3: of pushing, that's true. I feel like thirty five to
- 38:09Speaker 3: thirty nine minutes is right where you want it. Like,
- 38:12Speaker 3: let's say ten songs, twelve songs, three minutes each.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Six sketches.
- 38:24Speaker 3: In a row.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I have to ask, how do you feel about Lady Gaga?
- 38:31Speaker 3: Lady Gaga? I that's an interesting question.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I love being LGBTQ plus talking about Lady Gaga on
- 38:37Speaker 2: a podcast.
- 38:37Speaker 3: I want to be careful about how I want I
- 38:39Speaker 3: speak about Lady Gaga because I feel like I have
- 38:42Speaker 3: complicated feelings. I don't dislike I don't. She's not in
- 38:47Speaker 3: my top even ten. Wow, real, you know, and when
- 38:52Speaker 3: we're talking about pop like club or you know, banger okay,
- 38:56Speaker 3: territory not in the top ten Okay. Something I have
- 38:59Speaker 3: pre she ate about her is there's this pretentious element
- 39:04Speaker 3: that she's obviously shooting for that she and what I
- 39:07Speaker 3: love is she doesn't have exactly what it takes and
- 39:11Speaker 3: watching that mess is I appreciate that. Yeah, does that
- 39:17Speaker 3: make sense?
- 39:18Speaker 2: Absolutely make sense?
- 39:19Speaker 3: And she's got a lot of great songs.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I think I feel very similarly.
- 39:22Speaker 3: She's like, yeah, yeah, I don't even know what I
- 39:24Speaker 3: would compare that to as a like a normal person
- 39:27Speaker 3: operating in the world. It's like a I was gonna say,
- 39:32Speaker 3: a failing restaurant, but that's not what it is.
- 39:37Speaker 2: She's a failing restaurant. That is so funny. It's almost
- 39:43Speaker 2: like it's like like when a movie is bad, but
- 39:48Speaker 2: it's like, but it's fun to watch. Like thinking of
- 39:52Speaker 2: one of my favorite films is A Valerian. Did you
- 39:55Speaker 2: see this movie? Oh?
- 39:56Speaker 3: What a I didn't see it, but I know. I
- 39:57Speaker 3: mean that, what a great analogy that is.
- 40:00Speaker 2: It's such an insane movie. It is not good, but
- 40:03Speaker 2: there's actually a lot of good ideas in it. And
- 40:06Speaker 2: sometimes it's so bad that they create these moments so
- 40:09Speaker 2: that you could never get on a normal.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Movie, right because another movie would have the control to
- 40:14Speaker 3: be like, let's not even try. Yeah, yeah, well, I
- 40:17Speaker 3: feel like there's a real theme of this episode.
- 40:22Speaker 2: It's choices, choices, It's it's control versus letting go. It's it's.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Interesting and no, yeah, I like her. I let's say,
- 40:37Speaker 3: I'm trying to think of songs of her. You know
- 40:39Speaker 3: what song I really like of hers, which I, as
- 40:41Speaker 3: someone who's not a huge Lady Gaga listener, I think
- 40:44Speaker 3: is a surprising choice. I like the song it is?
- 40:46Speaker 3: It called Summer Boy? Do you even know this?
- 40:49Speaker 2: I don't know this one? Do you know this?
- 40:50Speaker 3: On a lease?
- 40:51Speaker 2: If I'm the only person in this room, then this
- 40:54Speaker 2: backyard half of the Fame?
- 40:56Speaker 3: I guess what's it called. It's off of the album
- 40:58Speaker 3: The Fame.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's called summer Boy.
- 40:59Speaker 2: All one word?
- 41:01Speaker 3: Wow? Who put this in my who put this in
- 41:06Speaker 3: my life? It's great, fantastic song. But that's that's probably
- 41:11Speaker 3: my top one of my top five Lady.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Gagas that's so interesting.
- 41:14Speaker 3: It's really like kind of an out of character song
- 41:17Speaker 3: for her. Almost feels like early Gwen Stefani pop.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she kind of sounds out in the beginning,
- 41:24Speaker 2: right yeah, where she learned how to howl, where she
- 41:28Speaker 2: got all spooky haunted house.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Do you remember when you first encountered Lady Gaga.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Of course it was I was in college, and I
- 41:40Speaker 2: think it was like just dance on the radio or something.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Just dance in Paparazzi were on the radio around the
- 41:45Speaker 2: same time period. It was winter, it was Chicago. I
- 41:48Speaker 2: was home visiting my parents, and I said, I don't
- 41:52Speaker 2: think I'm like this fucking girl. She's always saying like
- 41:57Speaker 2: how weird she is, And I'm like, this song sounds
- 41:58Speaker 2: normal as hell, Like why is she always saying she's
- 42:01Speaker 2: weird just because she dresses weird? So little did I
- 42:05Speaker 2: know that one day I'd be so deeply obsessed. For me,
- 42:09Speaker 2: it was okay, it was a few things, one bad romance.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Like everyone, I was like, oh my god.
- 42:14Speaker 3: That song is I would say, kind of a perfect songs.
- 42:18Speaker 2: It's incredible and it really made me be like, like,
- 42:21Speaker 2: do you have those moments where you're like, like, I
- 42:23Speaker 2: was like, I'm so grateful that I'm in college while
- 42:26Speaker 2: this song is out, Like I'm like, this is a
- 42:28Speaker 2: moment that like only these people will have, Like I
- 42:33Speaker 2: will be at a stupid house party hearing this song
- 42:36Speaker 2: and that's heaven on earth.
- 42:39Speaker 3: In the moment you had this realization.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Oh, I've been zoomed out for a while.
- 42:43Speaker 3: That's really incredible.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I was really very aware of the temporariness of my
- 42:49Speaker 2: time in college.
- 42:51Speaker 3: You're the fleeting nature of yes learning, Lady Gaga.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I was addicted to being like this will only happen now,
- 42:58Speaker 2: wow and wow. And then I was also in like
- 43:02Speaker 2: indie rock circles in college. Okay, right, and I my
- 43:07Speaker 2: like coolest, like grungiest friend was like, actually, these songs
- 43:11Speaker 2: are fucking sick, and we'd like be at college parties
- 43:14Speaker 2: and be like watch this, and he'd like put for
- 43:19Speaker 2: the songs in a row and everyone like who did this?
- 43:22Speaker 2: And he'd be like and I'd be like, wow, these
- 43:24Speaker 2: are sick.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Bold choice. Yeah, yeah, I guess at the time, because
- 43:27Speaker 3: I mean, music has become such a mush and it's
- 43:31Speaker 3: like hard to tell what feels different anymore. At the time,
- 43:35Speaker 3: that probably did feel different from other pop music.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Yeah, because we were dealing with like, you know, normal
- 43:42Speaker 2: girl jeans and T shirts. Right, Like it was even
- 43:47Speaker 2: even almost credit if it like looked like you could
- 43:48Speaker 2: play guitar. Sometimes I feel.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Right, and I'm trying to think of like who else
- 43:52Speaker 3: in that moment was like a Newish pop star. I
- 43:55Speaker 3: mean like we were at the tail end of Britney
- 43:56Speaker 3: Spears obviously, like that's.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Like single Ladies was happening, like, right, hasn't been established.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Yet as like the Yeah, she was still able to,
- 44:07Speaker 3: you know, make moves that didn't feel completely calculated. Yeah,
- 44:12Speaker 3: not to say that she's calculating is bad. I'm just saying, yes,
- 44:20Speaker 3: they're not like, uh, they feel to me like more
- 44:23Speaker 3: artistic in a way that doesn't just feel like a
- 44:25Speaker 3: machine made them. Sure sure, sure that makes sense. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 44:29Speaker 3: but I guess Lady Gaga cracked it open again for
- 44:32Speaker 3: like fifty songwriters with me. That doesn't matter, everyone's aware
- 44:36Speaker 3: of it. Yeah, And then we then we start getting
- 44:39Speaker 3: you know, Kylie Ray Jibson, Charlie xc X. Now there's
- 44:43Speaker 3: a person who I think i'd love to know her
- 44:45Speaker 3: opinion on Lady Gaga.
- 44:46Speaker 2: I feel like she's like she's fucking crazy, She's like
- 44:51Speaker 2: fucking can't stand her. But I love those tracks.
- 44:58Speaker 3: I'm always so curious about the like the inner world
- 45:02Speaker 3: of musicians.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I've met one pop person once.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Okay, can you name them?
- 45:07Speaker 2: I guess I want Like Kim Petris was like los
- 45:12Speaker 2: of Spookies. Oh so we were like in Chile at
- 45:15Speaker 2: the same time shooting and it was like, you know,
- 45:18Speaker 2: there's no one there, so and there's like six of
- 45:20Speaker 2: us that are like shooting this thing. And I was
- 45:23Speaker 2: there for like a few days, but we would like
- 45:24Speaker 2: get dinner and stuff. Wow, fascinating, And it was like,
- 45:28Speaker 2: you know, the way that it's like they all do
- 45:30Speaker 2: know each other. They all have hung out, they've all
- 45:33Speaker 2: like talked about collaborating, and it's sort of like weird.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like I mean, I mean, I think I'm
- 45:40Speaker 3: curious about it because the same thing obviously happens within comedy.
- 45:44Speaker 2: But comedy they wear it on their sleeves a little
- 45:45Speaker 2: more because it's like, yeah, I did their podcast. It's like,
- 45:49Speaker 2: of course they know each other. You can see the
- 45:51Speaker 2: connections a little.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Bit pop stars do feel like they keep their distance
- 45:55Speaker 3: from each other. Yeah, that's why I think this is
- 45:58Speaker 3: like Charlie XCX thing with all these collabors has been
- 46:00Speaker 3: so interesting to watch.
- 46:02Speaker 2: It is interesting. I mean that's where the Lord the
- 46:04Speaker 2: Lord Charlie thing kind of freaked me out because I
- 46:06Speaker 2: was like, wait, you guys have like affected each.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Other, right, you are aware of each other and like
- 46:14Speaker 3: socially right.
- 46:16Speaker 2: So like, I'm sure you're gonna be like, oh, that
- 46:18Speaker 2: song is better than mine. Fuck, but but like you're
- 46:21Speaker 2: not gonna be like, oh, I keep asking you to
- 46:23Speaker 2: hang out and keep.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Saying no, kay, you're making me feel like a loser.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, wait, that's a comedy thing.
- 46:32Speaker 3: You can't take everything from us.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 3: That was the fact that they have each other's phone number,
- 46:37Speaker 3: Like I'm always curious, Like I guess they ask somebody
- 46:40Speaker 3: to get that person's phone number, or they run into
- 46:42Speaker 3: them at a well in an industry party.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know if this is I don't know this.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I also think pompsters are like give it out really quickly,
- 46:51Speaker 2: Like I'm I don't know if this is weird. I
- 46:54Speaker 2: don't know. But like when I was with competuous. I
- 46:56Speaker 2: was there for like three days and she was like,
- 46:57Speaker 2: here's my number. Oh, and I was like, wait, we've
- 47:00Speaker 2: barely spoken, and.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Maybe there's a loneliness.
- 47:05Speaker 2: It probably is, I mean, yeah, it was. It was interesting.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I do think there is obviously like the mindset of
- 47:11Speaker 3: a person who chooses to uh share their emotions through music.
- 47:15Speaker 3: It's just a different mentality that I can't even begin
- 47:18Speaker 3: to get behind. Yeah, well it's very vulnerable. Yeah, an
- 47:23Speaker 3: extreme vulnerability, which I guess leads to just allowing your
- 47:27Speaker 3: phone to be I mean anyone can call you.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Well talk about I mean, that's the again. The theme
- 47:33Speaker 2: is control and letting go. I do think mob stars
- 47:36Speaker 2: are the ultimate letting go, Like they had to do both.
- 47:39Speaker 2: They have to have control over everything and be like yeah,
- 47:42Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm like singing and naked on stage.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I don't I don't know what to tell you. Like,
- 47:49Speaker 2: I think you have to almost on the mindset of like, yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 2: I'll give my phone number and then when someone crazy
- 47:53Speaker 2: starts texting me all the time, I'll get a new phone.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Right, won't affect me in any way? Yeah, interesting. You
- 47:58Speaker 3: just have to keep making as many horrible decisions as possible.
- 48:02Speaker 2: It's it's you can't slow down, right, because when you
- 48:04Speaker 2: say down, it's like, well, yeah, none of your life
- 48:06Speaker 2: makes sense. It's like, well, yeah, I'm a pop star. Wow.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Wow, the really cracking open that Psyche is really fascinating, fascinating.
- 48:18Speaker 3: Have you texted Kim No, You've got to start texting
- 48:22Speaker 3: her now, let's catch up.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I saw her again because she did Fantasmas and we
- 48:29Speaker 2: were in the same scene for that. Interesting because it
- 48:32Speaker 2: was all Julio and he. But he was like, So
- 48:35Speaker 2: I saw her, and I was like, assuming she wouldn't
- 48:37Speaker 2: recognize me, it's been like two years or something, and
- 48:40Speaker 2: I was like, hey, She's like, oh, hi, are you.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I was like, okay, that's nice, okay, But then I
- 48:45Speaker 2: was like, but I'm still not gonna like I think
- 48:47Speaker 2: I'm also shy. And I'm also like, if I shouldn't
- 48:50Speaker 2: be hang out with someone, I won't text them to
- 48:52Speaker 2: hang out.
- 48:53Speaker 3: And what could you possibly text her?
- 48:56Speaker 2: I want to get dinner, just being like, hey, I'm
- 48:59Speaker 2: in La now, I want to get dinner.
- 49:02Speaker 3: That See, this is the sort of choice that you
- 49:04Speaker 3: need to make.
- 49:05Speaker 4: This is your viral moment. I'm just saying I'm a
- 49:09Speaker 4: producer sitting here. I know you have Kim Petris's phone number,
- 49:12Speaker 4: and the fact that no one has dialed it yet.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Can you imagine?
- 49:17Speaker 2: I am not reckless. I cannot be reckless. I can't
- 49:20Speaker 2: crash the car.
- 49:21Speaker 3: This is not a podcast where I will pressure you
- 49:23Speaker 3: into calling Kim Petris. I wish it was me.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Too, but unfortunately I wish this was a podcast where
- 49:29Speaker 2: I would be like, sure.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, But I guess we're not those.
- 49:33Speaker 2: People right now. What we're doing is we're choosing mediocrity,
- 49:39Speaker 2: but to stay beloved in our community.
- 49:41Speaker 3: And respect and respect, choosing respect, respect, and I think
- 49:45Speaker 3: that that's ultimately what will get us through.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta hope. You gotta hope. There's a long game.
- 49:51Speaker 3: People are going to look back and say, you know what, Sam,
- 49:54Speaker 3: he was respectful.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Yeah, in my fucking obituary.
- 49:58Speaker 3: What a legacy. Respectful till the end? Is there anything
- 50:05Speaker 3: left to say about Gaga?
- 50:07Speaker 2: I mean, of course we're about to enter a new
- 50:09Speaker 2: Gaga cycle.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, she's got the new album, got the new album, got.
- 50:13Speaker 2: The Joker too. And I am feeling like a bit
- 50:18Speaker 2: vulnerable because I can get really obsessed with her, I
- 50:21Speaker 2: can like really go crazy and in a way where
- 50:26Speaker 2: even like sometimes I'm like, no, I'm more powerful when
- 50:30Speaker 2: she is like promoting an album because my point of
- 50:32Speaker 2: view matters.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Again, it's like the sun has come out.
- 50:34Speaker 2: The sun has come out. It's like when it's your birthday,
- 50:37Speaker 2: and so it's like, oh, I actually feel like I
- 50:39Speaker 2: can speak with authority on everything that's going on.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Is there any fear, like what if the album's bad?
- 50:45Speaker 2: The thing is not at all, because if the album's bad,
- 50:47Speaker 2: it's like, that's correct. She like I have stood by
- 50:53Speaker 2: her through so many things for what fifteen years at
- 50:58Speaker 2: this point, basically, I mean the like, no one has
- 51:01Speaker 2: listened to Joanne more than me. No one on earth
- 51:05Speaker 2: has listened to Joanne.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I think you can absolutely claim that.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Talk about a vinyl that I have that I have
- 51:11Speaker 2: worn out. Wow, I listened to Joanne so much.
- 51:16Speaker 3: I don't think I know a single song off of Joean.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Oh my god, Well you should give it a listen,
- 51:21Speaker 2: especially as we get into autumn.
- 51:22Speaker 3: It's more of her autumn album of course, and she's
- 51:25Speaker 3: someone who has strictly summer albums.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well summer in winter.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of like late Dark Winter.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Late Dark Winter, indoors, indoors in the club you just
- 51:36Speaker 2: co checked.
- 51:38Speaker 3: But she does not do the in between seasons. No spring,
- 51:42Speaker 3: She's never touched What could that possibly even look like
- 51:44Speaker 3: that that would be complicated, it would be it would
- 51:48Speaker 3: be I don't think she can do fragile.
- 51:51Speaker 2: That would be scary.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want her to try it, I mean
- 51:59Speaker 3: for another four years. No, but maybe she starts at
- 52:03Speaker 3: least thinking about a spring album now.
- 52:07Speaker 2: For me, and I think a lot of people pop
- 52:09Speaker 2: stars need to fail in order to like fully love
- 52:12Speaker 2: them right, like I think I among many others. But
- 52:15Speaker 2: there was a time when I felt like I was
- 52:17Speaker 2: on the cutting edge of the like art pop is
- 52:20Speaker 2: actually quite good. And now that's like almost trite to say,
- 52:25Speaker 2: but I was a fight, an early early fighter in
- 52:28Speaker 2: the trenches.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Scary territory. Yeah, frustrating, But.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Because it was bad and because I got so obsessed
- 52:36Speaker 2: with being with being argumentative about it, then I was like, Okay,
- 52:40Speaker 2: I will be like this until I'm dead.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Until you're proven right. Yes that's good for you, Yeah,
- 52:51Speaker 3: absolutely good for you.
- 52:53Speaker 2: So you left the church, I found one?
- 52:56Speaker 3: How many Lady Gaga concerts have you been to?
- 52:59Speaker 2: Honestly only one?
- 53:00Speaker 3: Wow?
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah? Which one? The CHROMATICA Ball? And was that? Where
- 53:05Speaker 2: was that it was? It was in New York. It
- 53:06Speaker 2: was the MetLife Stadium.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Oh okay, did you have a good time before it?
- 53:12Speaker 2: It was in the heaven.
- 53:12Speaker 3: Oh that's wonderful to hear.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Oh emotional.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean those giant concerts are. It's a very
- 53:20Speaker 3: odd experience.
- 53:21Speaker 2: It's a very odd experience. And I was worried that
- 53:24Speaker 2: it would feel not fun because I was like, well,
- 53:28Speaker 2: it won't feel like personal or feel like like, Okay,
- 53:31Speaker 2: I get it. You're doing choreo, Okay, I get it.
- 53:33Speaker 2: And then I was like, no, she always manages to
- 53:35Speaker 2: do that thing that you're talking about where it's like
- 53:38Speaker 2: really shooting for something and it like sort of works.
- 53:41Speaker 2: But there's also all the stuff that's like not quite working.
- 53:44Speaker 2: But I'm like, I love to see that the not
- 53:48Speaker 2: shaved away weirdness.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Right. I'm now like I'm thinking about the movie Evil Dead. Sure,
- 53:54Speaker 3: that feels to me like a like a messy good movie.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think you know, some people would just
- 54:01Speaker 2: say campy, but I can't.
- 54:03Speaker 3: He feels like, yeah, campy is not the it's not it.
- 54:06Speaker 2: No, but I want to address the haters now and
- 54:08Speaker 2: say we are Obviously we could have said camp people,
- 54:10Speaker 2: we're not going to. We're not saying on purpose to.
- 54:12Speaker 3: We're artists as well, and we know we use these
- 54:16Speaker 3: words carefully and we treat other people with respect.
- 54:21Speaker 2: With respect in our opinions are our opinions until they're not.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Until somebody tells me I'm wrong, and then I bet
- 54:29Speaker 3: that I say I had a different opinion the entire time.
- 54:32Speaker 3: I of course agree with you. Okay, Well, I'm thrilled
- 54:38Speaker 3: to have this on CD.
- 54:39Speaker 2: You're gonna love it. You're don't really want to spend
- 54:41Speaker 2: some time with it.
- 54:41Speaker 3: I do love a piece of physical media.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Oh.
- 54:44Speaker 3: I feel like there is going to come a point
- 54:47Speaker 3: when the entire grid goes down and you're gonna have
- 54:50Speaker 3: two Lady Gaga albums to trade for other for food, well,
- 54:55Speaker 3: not for food for other Lady Gagaga albums.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Probably that'll be nice.
- 54:59Speaker 3: I think I own one CD currently, really Lady Gaga's CHROMATICA.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Well, that's amazing.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Well, I guess all my CDs are at my parents' house.
- 55:07Speaker 2: You're starting over. This is the first of.
- 55:12Speaker 3: This is the new me. Okay, I think it's time
- 55:15Speaker 3: to play a game. We're gonna play a game called
- 55:17Speaker 3: Gift or a Curse. I need a number between one
- 55:20Speaker 3: and ten from you two.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 55:22Speaker 3: I have to do some light calculating. So while I calculate,
- 55:26Speaker 3: you can promote, recommend, do whatever you want with the microphone.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I'll be right back. Okay. I have a podcast called
- 55:32Speaker 2: trady a Lab that you can listen to. You can
- 55:35Speaker 2: follow me on all socials at Sam Taggart on Instagram
- 55:39Speaker 2: and basically that's the only one I use, so only
- 55:41Speaker 2: follow me there. And I'd like to promote.
- 55:48Speaker 3: You've got You've promoted stuff that felt good?
- 55:51Speaker 2: Did that feel good?
- 55:52Speaker 3: Yeah? It's never a comfortable moment.
- 55:55Speaker 2: No, well, because I also you know, of course we
- 56:01Speaker 2: aren't intimate friends yet, and so there's an element of like,
- 56:04Speaker 2: is this a prank, you know, me setting you up
- 56:07Speaker 2: to promote? Of course, what would the prank have possibly been?
- 56:11Speaker 2: I have no idea. I don't know what's going on
- 56:13Speaker 2: that stick and twist ahead of yours.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Now. I want to think of a prank for that
- 56:18Speaker 3: moment for somebody.
- 56:19Speaker 2: There is something about like you going away into a
- 56:21Speaker 2: computer and putting the mic down and be like.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Go ahead, I was interesting going on. Wow, I've never
- 56:31Speaker 3: thought about that, but it kind of makes sense.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Wow, I've made every one of my guests probably uncomfortable
- 56:36Speaker 3: for a split second there.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Do you feel that they get really timid in that moment?
- 56:40Speaker 3: Yes, And I understand on other shows when they're like
- 56:42Speaker 3: and tell us where you can find you or whatever.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I hate saying yeah because we all know where we
- 56:48Speaker 3: can find each other.
- 56:49Speaker 2: It's embarrassing.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's embarrassing and we all know we're on the internet. Yeah. Yeah,
- 56:53Speaker 3: but yeah, a lot of people will shut down in
- 56:56Speaker 3: a way where I'm like, this is starting to feel
- 56:58Speaker 3: like acting.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Sure, Sure, there's a happy medium, I think, Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Just say the things.
- 57:04Speaker 2: No, you're right now, I'm like, damn, I shut down
- 57:06Speaker 2: a little too much. But I was going through that.
- 57:09Speaker 2: I wasn't just dealing with shame. I was dealing with paranoia.
- 57:13Speaker 3: You thought you were Sunday on a Frank Show, gotcha?
- 57:16Speaker 2: Cameras are on. I don't know what's going on.
- 57:20Speaker 3: None of this is being recorded on audio that who knows. Okay,
- 57:27Speaker 3: this is how we play gift or a curse. I'm
- 57:29Speaker 3: gonna name three things you're going to tell me if
- 57:31Speaker 3: there are a gift or a curse and why Okay,
- 57:34Speaker 3: and then I'll tell you if you're right or wrong
- 57:35Speaker 3: because there are correct answers. Okay, does that make perfect sense?
- 57:39Speaker 2: Yes? Okay.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Number one this is from a listener named Peter. Gift
- 57:42Speaker 3: or a curse, new cash register opening right when you
- 57:46Speaker 3: get to the front of a long line.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Curse why oh right? Because I'm like totally I get it. Uh,
- 57:57Speaker 2: Because then you have to like make a deal with
- 58:00Speaker 2: the people behind you where it's like do I deserve
- 58:02Speaker 2: to move over even though I'm about to go in
- 58:04Speaker 2: this one? And then they have to sort of be
- 58:06Speaker 2: like does this line matter at all? There's a moment
- 58:08Speaker 2: of anarchy that I think is a curse.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Okay, And so you're saying it's a curse. Yeah, you're wrong.
- 58:14Speaker 3: It's a gift. It's absolutely a gift. You know, it's
- 58:18Speaker 3: you learn a lesson there. Oh, you have to be
- 58:20Speaker 3: happy for other people in that moment. You can't. You
- 58:23Speaker 3: have to stop thinking about yourself. And it is like
- 58:25Speaker 3: an ego thing you have to overcome where you think
- 58:29Speaker 3: I deserve that you don't deserve that. Sure, the world
- 58:33Speaker 3: and the indifference of the grocery store has led to
- 58:37Speaker 3: you not getting that.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Do you decide if it's a cursory gift or does
- 58:40Speaker 2: the person.
- 58:40Speaker 3: That submitted it everything decides, I Askruth truth. Ultimately, there's something.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Again, I'm sorry that feels religious about this, where it
- 58:50Speaker 2: feels like you're like being like punishment is good because
- 58:55Speaker 2: it means you learn your lesson anytime you feel pain,
- 59:00Speaker 2: that's good.
- 59:02Speaker 3: This was submitted by the Catholic Church. No, it's just
- 59:08Speaker 3: ultimately truth decides the answer, and it does feel like
- 59:11Speaker 3: you're just trying to get the point which you're not
- 59:12Speaker 3: gonna get, which is shameful of course. Number two, this
- 59:16Speaker 3: is from a listener named Lydia. Gift or a curse?
- 59:19Speaker 3: Walking in a parade?
- 59:21Speaker 2: Curse? Why goes too long? Not that fun? And uh,
- 59:28Speaker 2: I don't see the appeal of parades in general.
- 59:31Speaker 3: You're right, Yes, there's no appeal there at all. It's
- 59:35Speaker 3: just walking but louder and busier. Yes, I don't want
- 59:38Speaker 3: either of those things when I'm walking.
- 59:40Speaker 2: I can't even enjoy watching a parade.
- 59:42Speaker 3: No, it's boring.
- 59:43Speaker 2: It's boring as hell.
- 59:44Speaker 3: I can just look at a picture of a float
- 59:46Speaker 3: and then move on with my life.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Floats aren't even that creative, to be honest.
- 59:49Speaker 3: Most of them are bad.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Most of them are bad. They it's a very more
- 59:55Speaker 2: as more thing going on there where they're like, but
- 59:57Speaker 2: look how many there are, and it's like, I give
- 59:59Speaker 2: me one good one. I would cheer for one good
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: one passing down the square.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Everyone works together to create one massive, beautiful float. Yes,
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: and it'll take less time.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: We can all make our lunch plans, right.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: We'll all be able to see it because it's so huge.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: And then yeah, we save resources. I think that's a
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: great And no one has to walk. There's one truck
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: kind of dragging this thing down the road.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Yeah, one block and then no more street closures too.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: Thank god. La beautifully played.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Number three. This is from a listener named Kelsey Gift
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: to a curse cooking videos where they slam each of
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: the ingredients down before shopping slash cooking them.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I think curse. I think because it demonstrates this theory
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: that's been working around of TikTok lights, sounds and colors
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: made to trick your brain into watching things longer. It's
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: not because you're engaged, is because they've figured out like
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: the right pattern of ways to make your brain need
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: to see more. And so I think curse.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: You're correct, it's a curse. There's nothing wrong with being
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: gentle with an ingredient. I think just setting it down
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: like a normal person. No one in their kitchen alone,
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: if you slam them alone in your kitchen. Okay, you
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: can put yourself on video. But there's also something wrong.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: With you, of course.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: And so you're obviously doing this as a performative thing, yes,
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: And if you're not, then hopefully someone in your family
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: or close friend circle sees the video and realizes that
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: they need to reach out to you. There's something going
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: on in your kitchen that's not right.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of unhealthy performance that has
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: been bred from TikTok culture. And I'm like, we need
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: to figure out, like we need more arts and schools
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: because we need people to have an outlet for their
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: need to perform that isn't like on the internet.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Wow, that's that's very true. Wow, that would solve so
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: many issues, so many societal ills. I mean, if we
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: had some arts and crafts to do in our lives,
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: we wouldn't be desperately seeking this attention and doing the
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: number one hardest job.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: Well, we still would be and you know we would
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: have excelled in the classes, of course.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: But if I had the tuba, well, look, everything would
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: be different from me.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Do you ever meet someone that lives in a small
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: town and they're like, well, my band and I'm like,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: what do you mean?
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: That's very fine? You're like, I'm trying to I'm trying
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: to understand. Like they have like a rock.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Band, yeah, like them and their buddies like get together
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: and play. And I'm like, but what.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: How to what end to?
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: What end? Like?
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: But I will say I feel like those we are
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: where the good bands come from, right, Well, but they
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: eventually just go to New York, yeah, or other city?
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Not really, I feel like, yeah, I guess musicians coming
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: to LA always feels like a confusing choice to me.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: They do do it, though, they.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Do, and it feels like the wrong place to come
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: when you're first starting as a musician.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Well, I couldn't agree more.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: It feels like you should go to New York or Chicago.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Chicago's a yeah, good town to be playing. It's cheaper,
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: right obviously. Portland Okay, we've named a three big ones interesting.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: But have you run into somebody who said my band?
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Did you go see the band?
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: I didn't see the band, but I was just sort
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: of surprised. Yeah, I think part of it. I think
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: so I'm from small towns and I left them because
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I was like, well, there's I can't do anything here
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: except except have a child, and I don't have interest
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: in having a child right at this stage of my life.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: And probably at that time it was before you could
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: really create a re in this on the internet. Yes,
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: which now people kind of because I'm in a similar
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: situation where like, growing up, every band in Utah was
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: absolutely dreadful, horrible musicians, bad songwriting, bad taste. But now
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: it feels like there's actually like a scene flourishing which
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: more democratized. Yes, exactly. But now I'm I'm gonna I know,
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna go home and someone's gonna mention their band,
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: and I don't know what I'm gonna say.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I always it's like, yeah, I'm pretty condescending, like and
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: I'm trying to be respectful, but I'm.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Like, I do that whether the band's good or not.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: It is just a strange thing to suddenly hear someone's
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: in a band.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: It's a surprise, that's true, unless they're currently holding a guitar.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, because it's not even like, oh, I play
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: this instrument. It's like I'm in a band. So it's
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: like you have coworkers, you have you found others.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: And then there's the uncomfortable question of what type of
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: music do you play?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: What's the music to play? And I'm not to be.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Not to be careerists are like, what are the goals?
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: I'm like, is it for fun? Because if it is,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: that's great. But I guess when someone's like I'm in
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: a band, it's like that implies to me, like and
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: we're working on an album, or like we have a
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: shoot coming up, but you're just like, I'm in a band.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: Thinking about a man like van Halen a shoot coming
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Come on?
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Bands have shoots, fans have shoots.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Bands rarely have shoots. Anymore money for videos?
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Do a shoot?
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Wow? Interesting? Well you got two out of three. Well
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: that's good really not horribly played, and that's all we
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: can possibly ask for. This is the final segment of
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: the podcast. It's called I said no emails, people write
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: in too. I said no gifts at Gmail. Dot com
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: to beg for answers. You help me answer a question, love. Okay,
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: this is dear Bridger and disobe guest. My partner, My
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: partner and I are looking to buy our first home
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: and we found a deal on a house that for
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: its size and neighborhood should be And I'm just going
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: to quickly note neighborhood has a youth, so dealing with
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: someone in a different territory, just be aware while you're
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: imagining this. Okay, for its size and neighborhoods should be
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: listed far beyond our budget, but is priced at a
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: discount because a man was murdered by his husband in
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: the basement.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: A few years ago.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Okay, I mean gay rights.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Needless to say, that's equality, allow allow the new villains.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: We know this because in Canada at least, you have
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: to disclose if a murder took place in a home
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: when selling it. While there is no confirmed reports of
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: the house being haunted, do we risk the curse slash
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: ghost of the murdered husband and put an offer in
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Appreciate your insight. And that's from Sabrina and Toronto.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Oh, so what is the question? Where should they buy this?
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: They buy the haunted house.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: I think yes. I think it's fucked up that Canada
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: makes you disclosed if someone was murdered in that.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: I think that's true of the United States. It is,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: it must be.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Why would that be anyone's business because if there's a ghost,
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: But what are you talking about? If someone's murdered in
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: the building. It's like, okay, like, do we have to disclose?
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Like if someone like yelled too loud, like if like
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: a relationship was just like not vibing, like what like,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: It's it's insane to me.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: I guess it is like you having to disclose if
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: it someone said a magic spell in a house.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Yeah, only three states require in the United States, Alaska,
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: South Dakota, and California.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Oh interesting, whoa wow. So if you're a real estate
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: agent that wants to sell murder houses, you've got forty
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: seven other states to pick from.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: What if you accidentally murder someone? What if it's manslaughter?
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: What if you dalk a bookshelf over?
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Interesting? They not, So you're just saying death in general.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: If someone's died in the.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: House, well at someone else's legally speaking.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: Okay, now that's yeah, do you have to disclose manslaughter?
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Well, this just is death, period death, So it doesn't
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: have to even be a murder.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Just about death to me is a bridge too far.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: Yeah, the government going the government overreach is insane.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm calling for smaller government on this podcast.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: I think I think I think they should buy the house.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: I think they should buy the house. I mean again,
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: if there's a ghost in the house, that has added
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: value to me. Of course, how is that in any
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: way taking away from the home. You have a third,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: you have a third built in, you can't escape.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: I'm curious of the sexual orientation of the couple. Interesting
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: because I'm sort of like, if you're also a gay couple,
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: then I'd be a little scared.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Because you think it's gay curse.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: If it's gay curse, then I'm sort of scared for you.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Only gay people can be murdered in this house.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Interesting. They should put that to the test.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they should.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: They should ask to spend a day in the basement.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Was and I also obviously need to know how bad
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: the murder was, Like, well, they know how it ended,
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: but I need to know, like, was it like really fucked.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Up like torture situation?
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Was it was just sort of like got drunk and
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: shot him in the.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Head, right, kind of an old fashion, Yeah, a little
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: lover's quarrel, like with a cute six shooter. Yeah, kind
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: of Western.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Drop the gun and handshaking, like what have I done?
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: If there's remorse, I think that changes it too. You
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: don't have to disclose if the murderer felt bad, Yeah
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I think that's a good point. If someone was like
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: pulled into different pieces in this basement and dissected, or
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: you know, run through a grinder, yeah, it's gonna be tough,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: you know, flattened by a giant stone. These are some
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: different ways you can murder people in a gross way.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: But if they just like drowned them, sure, you know,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: or gave them sleeping pills.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Sleeping pills, that should barely count.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: That's I mean, it doesn't count. Let's let's that's barely
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: a murder. Yeah, that's another category.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, people a self defense.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Maybe it was going on in the relationship exactly.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: So buy the.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: House and you're getting a great deal.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Google the murder, then buy the house.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: That's a great real estate slog.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: But you know, real estate is expensive.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: It is expensive. It's very hard to buy a house,
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: and when you get the chance to buy the Haunted one.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Go for it. What are they going to do? Burn
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: it down somebody there?
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: And again, can we just say back to choices, stories,
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: book deals, Sabrina, We've just given you a full career
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: that both of us are desperate to.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Not only do you get a house half off, you
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: also get a fucking book deal.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: You're being sold at airports.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: This is it's it just got options to become a movie.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Wow, Sabrina, never right back in.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: We answered it perfectly. And now I have CHROMATICA.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Yes, I enjoy it.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: So happy to have this object in my home. Yea.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Thank you so much. And I just encourage you to
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: continue finding places for the other CDs. Yeah, but always
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: keep it at least one extra for yourself. Of course,
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: he's gonna you're gonna wear it out of entry.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: I mean, I'm gonna need it. You're going to Yah, there's.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Gonna come a moment where you were going to say
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: thank you Bridger for making me keep this extra CD.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: There was a point where I was like, no, this
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: is actually an amazing thing to go away because it's like, yes,
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: of course there's countless CHROMATICA CDs out in the world.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: But I was like, but Bridger gets one of my three.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Wow, I'm honored. Yeah, I appreciate.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, I've.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Had a wonderful time with you, Sam. This has thank
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: you for being here and listener. The podcast is absolutely over.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: It's come to a close. Find something else to do.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I love you, goodbye. I said, No Gifts is an
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: exactly right production. It's produced by our dear friend Analise Nelson,
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: and it's beautifully mixed by Ben Holliday. And we couldn't
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: do it without our guest booker, Patrick Kottner. The theme song,
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: of course, could only come from miracle worker Amy Mann.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: You must follow the show on Instagram at I said
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: no gifts. I don't want to hear any excuses. That's
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: where you get to see pictures of all these gorgeous
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: gifts I'm getting. And don't you want to see pictures
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: of the gifts?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Hell in, why did you hear?
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Fun?
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: A man?
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Myself perfectly clear? But you're I guess Tom, you gotta
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: come to me empty And I said no, guests, your
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: own presence is presents enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: So how do you dare to surbey Me
