- 1:01Speaker 1: thing since winning. Yep. Pretty simple. This week, it was
- 1:07Speaker 1: great to say coffin nails and here lap say Bam
- 1:11Speaker 1: Bam bam for the first time in eight months. In
- 1:14Speaker 1: twenty two days now time for the radio replays. When
- 1:20Speaker 1: Marv Levy was the coach of the Buffalo Bills, reporter
- 1:23Speaker 1: asked him if an upcoming game was a must win.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Coach Levy said, no, World War Two was a must win,
- 1:32Speaker 1: so maybe must win isn't the proper phrase.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Today, we will.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Go with badly needed as the Bengals look for their
- 1:38Speaker 1: first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers. And
- 1:42Speaker 1: it is time for the pig skin to fly here
- 1:44Speaker 1: at Bank of.
- 1:46Speaker 2: America Stadium in Charlotte.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Chris Jenkins checks in is an extra defensive lineman at
- 1:51Speaker 1: his fourth and inches. It's a handoff to Hubber. He's
- 1:54Speaker 1: sworn down. The Bengals stop the Panthers on fourth and
- 1:59Speaker 1: goal in side the one Dalton in the gun, two
- 2:01Speaker 1: receivers to each side. The ball's on the right hash
- 2:04Speaker 1: On third down and eight from the thirty four yard line,
- 2:07Speaker 1: Dalton catches all out blitz coming Andy gets rid of it.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's fluttering up in the air and accepted by Von
- 2:14Speaker 1: Bell running back to the forty thirty five thirty hit
- 2:17Speaker 1: from behind and knock Doun the bounds inside the twenty.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The pass rush led to a wounded duck of a throw,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and Von Bell picked it off and ran it.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Back inside the red zone.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Chase Brown is the running back as Burrow waits for
- 2:33Speaker 1: a shotgun snap. It's a hand on Chase Brown flies
- 2:37Speaker 1: into the end zone and spikes in with the right hand.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Touchdown Bengals.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Dalton's in the shotgun are running back on either side,
- 2:45Speaker 1: gives it to Hubbard and Chuba. Hubbard down to the
- 2:49Speaker 1: goal line is in touchdown. Carolina Burrow in the gun.
- 2:53Speaker 1: On third down and three, the Bengals hit their own
- 2:55Speaker 1: thirty eight. Joe Looking has lots of time, has pass
- 2:59Speaker 1: caught at the fifty by Jamar. Chase breaks a tackle
- 3:02Speaker 1: streaking down the far sideline. He's got two teammates to
- 3:05Speaker 1: walk and he will take it to the house for
- 3:09Speaker 1: a sixty three yard Bengals touchdown.
- 3:13Speaker 2: To pistol formation.
- 3:14Speaker 1: On first and goal from the eighth, Dalton catches, extends
- 3:17Speaker 1: the ball, fakes, rolls left, throws caught by Lee gets
- 3:21Speaker 1: in the end zone for the Panthers touchdown third and
- 3:25Speaker 1: goal from the one six seconds left.
- 3:27Speaker 2: In the half.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Fourteen to fourteen is the score. Burrow waiting back at
- 3:31Speaker 1: the six for the snap from Ted Carris.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Joe catches throws a swing pass.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Moss slipped but dies for the end zone and gets
- 3:39Speaker 1: in touchdown Bengals with one second left in the half.
- 3:46Speaker 1: A risky call. They passed it into the flat short
- 3:50Speaker 1: of the end zone. Zach Moss actually slipped but got
- 3:54Speaker 1: back on his feet and scored first and goal from
- 3:57Speaker 1: the two, and the Bengals are going to go hurry up.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Burrow's under center, Chase Brown in at running back. They
- 4:03Speaker 1: give it to the second year running back and Chase
- 4:06Speaker 1: Brown lowers the shoulder pads and goes into the end
- 4:09Speaker 1: zone for the Bengals touchdown. Chuba Hubbard back in at
- 4:13Speaker 1: running back that he lines up as a slot receiver.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Dalton throwing down the middle of the field, touchdown in
- 4:18Speaker 1: the middle of the end zone too.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Deontay Johnson.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Burrow repositions Zack Moss, Joe clapping his hands. He catches
- 4:27Speaker 1: a chest high snap, looking in trouble, running left, spins around,
- 4:32Speaker 1: running backward, turns downfield, caught by Zack Moss runs to
- 4:36Speaker 1: the forty, stutters step at the forty five, and auto
- 4:39Speaker 1: bounds at the fifty A miraculous extension of the play.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Moneymack trying to deliver in the clutch from forty six
- 4:46Speaker 1: yards away.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Adam I is ready to snap it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: The snap, the placement, the right footed gick on its way.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It is good and that should be coffin nails.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Sam bam, bam. It's about time. Eight seconds to go.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Gets snapped back to Dalton.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Andy forced to scramble, gets away from Logan Wilson. Dalton
- 5:13Speaker 1: running down field, he gets out of bounds, but the clock.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Is at zero and that will do it.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yes, the sky is not falling as the Bengals get
- 5:25Speaker 1: a badly needed road victory, their first win of the year.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They beat the Carolina Panthers thirty four to twenty four.
- 5:34Speaker 1: All right, let's start with the offense. Joe Burrow through
- 5:36Speaker 1: his first interception of the year. But I think we
- 5:39Speaker 1: can all live with won every four games for the season.
- 5:43Speaker 1: He's completing seventy one percent of his passes, with seven touchdowns,
- 5:46Speaker 1: one pick, and a passer rating of one oh five
- 5:49Speaker 1: point nine. And no questions about lifting water bottles for
- 5:53Speaker 1: three straight weeks. And how about running back Chase Brown?
- 5:56Speaker 1: He carried fifteen times for eighty yards both career highs
- 6:00Speaker 1: and scored a pair of touchdowns. For the season, he's
- 6:03Speaker 1: averaging a robust six point three yards per attempt. I
- 6:08Speaker 1: talked to him after the game, Chase Brown, how's that
- 6:12Speaker 1: w feel amazing?
- 6:14Speaker 3: I mean, we needed to bring some energy to the
- 6:16Speaker 3: locker room the team.
- 6:18Speaker 4: You know, just.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Important to social role into our first divisional game next week.
- 6:22Speaker 5: In the Ravens.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I just want to carry this momentum in the next
- 6:25Speaker 3: week and the.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Rest of the season.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Is there a weight off your shoulders.
- 6:31Speaker 4: In a way?
- 6:32Speaker 3: Like we wanted that win really bad. We needed that
- 6:35Speaker 3: win really bad. But I mean we knew what we
- 6:37Speaker 3: were capable of. We know we need to do to
- 6:40Speaker 3: take this team where we want to go, and we're
- 6:42Speaker 3: just gonna keep on working hard on our heads down
- 6:44Speaker 3: and going out there and playing good, complimentary football.
- 6:46Speaker 6: And that's all we can do.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Eighty rushing yards for you, that's a new career high.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Two touchdown runs, your first two rushing touchdowns.
- 6:53Speaker 2: In the NFL. How about your personal performance?
- 6:56Speaker 6: How did that?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I mean, Hu Street, Who's are the whole line? They
- 6:59Speaker 2: were open? Know stuff like crazy?
- 7:01Speaker 7: Today?
- 7:02Speaker 3: We probably should have had another fifty.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I mean, there was a huge home run.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Uper to me there that I gotta caught trip up
- 7:08Speaker 3: on that. So, I mean, you know, personal staff one thing,
- 7:12Speaker 3: but this is a good team win.
- 7:14Speaker 5: It took all of us. So that's what we're focused
- 7:16Speaker 5: on right now. That's what I'm focused on.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You scored two on the ground and Zach Moss had
- 7:20Speaker 1: the huge touchdown with one second left in the second quarter. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: great job to maintain his balance when it looked like
- 7:26Speaker 1: he might slip. People were getting it.
- 7:28Speaker 4: No, no doubt.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I mean that that dude, that dude's different is builded.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The brave tackles is when.
- 7:33Speaker 3: You guys see it every single game.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I see it that.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Practice on time, So I would I would expect nothing less.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Final driving the game, no passes. They counted on the
- 7:42Speaker 1: O line, and you guys can drain the clock and
- 7:45Speaker 1: set up Moneymack.
- 7:46Speaker 2: For the game plinch raft.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That's a big deal when you can do that, when
- 7:49Speaker 1: the other team knows.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It's tone, no doubt, no doubt.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I mean they were, they were stacking up the box,
- 7:53Speaker 3: they were gapped out. But we know, you know, we
- 7:57Speaker 3: know what's coming. We've been praying for those moments. It's
- 8:00Speaker 3: a minute. We know we just want to put up
- 8:02Speaker 3: points up at the end. And the same thing is
- 8:05Speaker 3: just keep the rock on our side and you don't
- 8:07Speaker 3: check that that field going to really.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Push the dagger in congrandsender badly needed winning, thank you.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Then there's the other Chase Jamar, who finished with three
- 8:18Speaker 1: catches for eighty five yards, including that ridiculous sixty three
- 8:22Speaker 1: yard TD. You've probably seen the video of him searching
- 8:26Speaker 1: for his dad, Jimmy in the stands and then tossing
- 8:29Speaker 1: him the football. Well, as it turns out, his father
- 8:33Speaker 1: was actually the middleman.
- 8:36Speaker 8: I was just giving it to my dask, so'd to
- 8:38Speaker 8: give it to my grandparents. I haven't seen him in
- 8:41Speaker 8: a couple of years, and they stay out here in
- 8:43Speaker 8: North Carolina, so you know, I just want to give
- 8:46Speaker 8: him a game ball. And you know I'm finna go
- 8:48Speaker 8: see him after this, So I just want to give
- 8:49Speaker 8: him a game ball.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Why not?
- 8:50Speaker 5: Especially about score today?
- 8:51Speaker 1: So with your grandparents looking on and the first time
- 8:53Speaker 1: you've seen him in a couple of years, how big
- 8:56Speaker 1: was it to make a memorable play with them in attendance?
- 9:00Speaker 2: It was good man?
- 9:02Speaker 8: No, I told t before the game, you know, if
- 9:03Speaker 8: my grand if I get the score. I'm trying to
- 9:04Speaker 8: get my grandparents the ball, so I actually called it,
- 9:07Speaker 8: but it was just, you know, it's just a blessed
- 9:10Speaker 8: man to have opportunities still play in front of my grandparents,
- 9:14Speaker 8: who's still alive at the moment, So you know, it's
- 9:16Speaker 8: nothing but but a blessing at this moment.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say those are two very
- 9:21Speaker 1: proud grandparents. As for the defense, the Bengals gave up
- 9:25Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy five yards, including one fifty five rushing,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but they held the Panthers to twenty four points. That's
- 9:32Speaker 1: twelve fewer than they scored against the Raiders last week.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And the Bengals made that huge goal line stop on
- 9:39Speaker 1: Carolina's opening drive on fourth and goal inside the one
- 9:44Speaker 1: with defensive tackles bj Hill and Sheldon Rank and still
- 9:47Speaker 1: out with hamstring injuries. Sam Hubbard moved inside for quite
- 9:51Speaker 1: a few snaps and talked to Dave Lapham about it
- 9:54Speaker 1: after the game.
- 9:56Speaker 4: How many different positions did you play today?
- 10:00Speaker 2: A few?
- 10:00Speaker 9: I think we're down a bunch of guys and had
- 10:03Speaker 9: to fill in a nose tackle and three technique and
- 10:07Speaker 9: get some uh, some guys on the edge. Cedric stepped
- 10:10Speaker 9: in great joseph Osa, Trey obviously was Trey, and uh yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 9: whatever the team needs, I'm down for it. It's it's
- 10:18Speaker 9: about win and we got that win today and man
- 10:22Speaker 9: does it feel good after those rough three weeks and
- 10:24Speaker 9: now we we got to start stacking.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Them for four games into the NFL season, so many
- 10:29Speaker 4: injuries and guys having to step up. But that's the
- 10:32Speaker 4: nature of the Beasts in the National Football League. When
- 10:34Speaker 4: your name is called, time to step up, right, Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 9: That's the sport that we play, you know, and you
- 10:39Speaker 9: never know when your opportunity is gonna come, and uh
- 10:42Speaker 9: you make the most of it. And guys that come
- 10:44Speaker 9: in and you know, provide depth. You know that those
- 10:46Speaker 9: teams are the most successful. It's a long season, a
- 10:49Speaker 9: very long season, and we're gonna need everybody in this
- 10:51Speaker 9: locker room. And I really love this this team.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Sam talk about bending but not breaking. Twelve play drive,
- 10:57Speaker 4: they go to the one foot line. I mean, you
- 10:58Speaker 4: bend as much as you could, but you didn't break.
- 11:00Speaker 4: I mean that was unbelievably important in this football game.
- 11:03Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, especially with how we played last week defense,
- 11:06Speaker 9: we really wanted to step up and to start the
- 11:08Speaker 9: game like that and just you know, never vote on
- 11:11Speaker 9: each other, never, never give up. It really just set
- 11:14Speaker 9: the tempo for the day. And you know that was
- 11:17Speaker 9: that was very important to us.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Sam. It's a former offensive lineman. I hate to admit it,
- 11:21Speaker 4: but looking at the inside of your bicep, they're holding
- 11:24Speaker 4: you like the son of a gun man. You got
- 11:25Speaker 4: you got marks and digs all over you. They're grabbing
- 11:28Speaker 4: you like crazy out there, aren't they.
- 11:29Speaker 9: Yeah, it's real on the inside, no doubt. It's been
- 11:32Speaker 9: a couple of years since I played in there, but
- 11:34Speaker 9: it's a grind, no doubt.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Here's helping. Reinforcements are on the way. In addition to
- 11:39Speaker 1: the possible return of Hill and Rankins, Miles Murphy and
- 11:43Speaker 1: McKinley Jackson are eligible to start practicing and potentially playing
- 11:48Speaker 1: this week. The Bengals Booth Podcast is brought to you
- 11:51Speaker 1: by pay Corps, Proud to be the Bengals official HR
- 11:54Speaker 1: software provider, by Alta Fiber, future proof fiber Internet designed
- 11:58Speaker 1: to elevate your home business community to a new level,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and by Kettering Health the best care for the best fans.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Kettering Health is the official healthcare provider of the Bengals.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Let's hear what head coach Zach Taylor had to say
- 12:10Speaker 1: as he spent a few minutes with Lap after the game.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Coach gad to get one man that that first one
- 12:18Speaker 4: was getting a little loosive and got it.
- 12:21Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean that's sometimes it's gonna be ugly. And
- 12:23Speaker 6: we found a way to finish, you know, as pleased
- 12:25Speaker 6: the defense be able to get it at three and
- 12:26Speaker 6: out at the end of the game, get the offense
- 12:28Speaker 6: the ball back, were able to burn the clock getting
- 12:30Speaker 6: a field goal range, finish it off the right way.
- 12:32Speaker 6: It's not always gonna be pretty in this league. That's
- 12:34Speaker 6: a well coached football team. They're only going to continue
- 12:37Speaker 6: to improve as the season goes. And got a lot
- 12:40Speaker 6: of respect for him. But now it's put that one
- 12:41Speaker 6: to bed and show back up at home next week
- 12:43Speaker 6: for a big divisional game.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Coin toss win. Defer Man, did that work out? You
- 12:48Speaker 4: scored touchdown with a second to go in the first
- 12:49Speaker 4: half and then your score first possession in the third quarter.
- 12:52Speaker 4: I mean, you can't draw it up any better than that.
- 12:54Speaker 6: I mean, truthfully, that's what we talked about as a
- 12:56Speaker 6: team this week, is defern the coin toss offense defense
- 12:58Speaker 6: because that's a chance the tone and then offense finish
- 13:01Speaker 6: them off to start the third quarter. And maybe some
- 13:05Speaker 6: opportunities we missed there late in the third to finish
- 13:07Speaker 6: them off, But overall, was pleased with how the guys
- 13:09Speaker 6: executed the plan.
- 13:11Speaker 4: You rush for over one hundred and thirty yards out
- 13:13Speaker 4: of your tailback position, I think probably over one hundred
- 13:15Speaker 4: and fifty, you know, as a football team, and then
- 13:18Speaker 4: Joe Burrow is Joe Burrow thrown for two hundred and
- 13:20Speaker 4: twenty plus or whatever and a couple of touchdowns when
- 13:23Speaker 4: your offense is balanced like that. Scored thirty three points
- 13:26Speaker 4: last week, thirty four points this week. I mean, you
- 13:28Speaker 4: guys are in a nice role, and.
- 13:30Speaker 6: It feel still like we're leaving some on the field,
- 13:32Speaker 6: you know. So again it's I don't think we've reached
- 13:34Speaker 6: our potential yet, but we're certainly playing at a place
- 13:36Speaker 6: where there's a lot of confidence and so again still
- 13:39Speaker 6: room to grow, and we're excited about that.
- 13:41Speaker 4: What about red zone today? A red zone execution? You
- 13:44Speaker 4: think you up the andy there a little bit.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Yeah, we had a tough go there. You know, we're
- 13:48Speaker 6: when we lost fifteen yards on a completion somehow and
- 13:50Speaker 6: then got a penalty on a nice draw play. So
- 13:52Speaker 6: there's still some room to grow there, But I thought
- 13:55Speaker 6: the execution was good.
- 13:56Speaker 4: And I'll tell you what, Andy Dalton, man, I mean,
- 13:58Speaker 4: there were two or three I know he'd like to
- 14:00Speaker 4: have back, but almost every other throw there was a
- 14:04Speaker 4: chance to make a play on his teammates didn't necessarily
- 14:07Speaker 4: always come up with them. But man, that guy can
- 14:09Speaker 4: still put it in good spots, can't he.
- 14:10Speaker 6: I Mean, there were two guys last week to go
- 14:12Speaker 6: for over three hundred and three touchdowns as Joe Burrow
- 14:14Speaker 6: Andy Dalton, and so he's proven that he still plays
- 14:16Speaker 6: at a high level. We obviously think the world of
- 14:19Speaker 6: him and all that he's done for me in this organization,
- 14:21Speaker 6: and I'm not surprised that he's still effective out there,
- 14:23Speaker 6: and I'm just glad to get get that one away
- 14:26Speaker 6: from him.
- 14:26Speaker 4: How about Sam Hubbard, He's playing nose tackle out there
- 14:30Speaker 4: at the end of the football game. I Mean, here's
- 14:32Speaker 4: a guy that'll do anything for his football team, won't he.
- 14:35Speaker 6: That's right, I Mean, that's what a Bengle is. He's
- 14:36Speaker 6: willing to do anything he's got to do and put
- 14:39Speaker 6: ego aside and just go out there and play ball
- 14:41Speaker 6: and try to help us where we can with our
- 14:42Speaker 6: detackle situation. And you know, that's why the guy's a
- 14:46Speaker 6: captain and that's why he leads us.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Both of these football teams have been hit by injury
- 14:50Speaker 4: and only four games in. I mean, you never know
- 14:52Speaker 4: when they're gonna come, and when they come, sometimes unfortunately
- 14:55Speaker 4: come in bunches.
- 14:56Speaker 2: But I'll tell you what.
- 14:57Speaker 4: The guys that you know, next man up, the next
- 14:59Speaker 4: guys that had to play, played pretty well for you.
- 15:01Speaker 2: That's how it is.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Everyone goes through a lot of adversity, everyone goes through injuries,
- 15:04Speaker 6: and you got to rely on your depth.
- 15:06Speaker 4: So here we go. Next opponent, AFC North Baltimore Ravens,
- 15:11Speaker 4: and we all know what it's like playing in the
- 15:13Speaker 4: AFC North. Got to kind of get over this one,
- 15:17Speaker 4: lick some wounds with their orny and get ready to
- 15:19Speaker 4: roll right.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Yeah, awesome opportunity, get our first home win, get our
- 15:22Speaker 6: first divisional wins against a great opponent. What more could
- 15:25Speaker 6: you ask for?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Up next the home game against Ragning MVP Lamar Jackson
- 15:30Speaker 1: and the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar is eight and one in
- 15:35Speaker 1: nine career starts against the Bengals. I'm posting this podcast
- 15:39Speaker 1: before the end of the Sunday night game, so I
- 15:41Speaker 1: don't know if Baltimore beat Buffalo or vice versa, but
- 15:45Speaker 1: the other two teams in the AFC North lost. The
- 15:48Speaker 1: Steelers are three and one after losing an Indy and
- 15:51Speaker 1: the Browns are one in three after losing in Vegas.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Now time for the radio guys recap. Was a pretty
- 16:00Speaker 1: palpable sense of relief in that Bengals locker room after
- 16:04Speaker 1: getting that badly needed first win.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Absolutely, I mean, life in the NFL can be tough
- 16:11Speaker 4: when you're losing close football games. When you lose in
- 16:13Speaker 4: one score football games, I mean you're so close and
- 16:16Speaker 4: just you know, you needed to make another play, any
- 16:19Speaker 4: phase of it, and just didn't. In this football game,
- 16:23Speaker 4: you could tell, man, there's a big xhale in that
- 16:25Speaker 4: locker room. I mean, guys were happy to get that
- 16:29Speaker 4: first W. So sometimes that first win can be major
- 16:32Speaker 4: league elusive, and it was for these guys, but they
- 16:36Speaker 4: got one on the road, and life's not easy on
- 16:40Speaker 4: the road in the National Football League. To pull out
- 16:42Speaker 4: of w helps A.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Lot of big plays in the game, including a fourth
- 16:47Speaker 1: and less than a yard stop on Carolina's opening possession.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think Chris Jenkins was the guy that led the
- 16:53Speaker 1: charge in the interior portion of the defensive line. Obviously
- 16:57Speaker 1: that was huge, not only to keep Carolina off the scoreboard,
- 17:02Speaker 1: just but just that kind of endless sense that the
- 17:05Speaker 1: defense couldn't get a stop exactly.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Joe asked him about that very thing in his postgame
- 17:10Speaker 4: and he said his response was that set the tone
- 17:13Speaker 4: for the game. You know, that was that was something
- 17:16Speaker 4: that both sides of the ball fed off of and
- 17:19Speaker 4: it ended up being a huge, huge factor in a
- 17:23Speaker 4: one score football game like it ended up being. So,
- 17:27Speaker 4: I mean, you know, talk about bending, he've been as
- 17:29Speaker 4: far as you get Ben literally there the one foot
- 17:31Speaker 4: line can't bend any further. But they didn't break twelve
- 17:34Speaker 4: play drive till the one foot line. You come away
- 17:37Speaker 4: with nothing. That's that's tough to deal with. But I
- 17:40Speaker 4: got to give them credit. I mean, they stayed in
- 17:42Speaker 4: the football game. They bounced back and made it a
- 17:44Speaker 4: heck of a football game.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Offensively, the point total keeps going up. It has increased
- 17:49Speaker 1: in all four games this season. I mean, it wasn't perfect,
- 17:52Speaker 1: but anytime you score thirty plus, you got to fel
- 17:55Speaker 1: pretty good about the way they're playing on that side
- 17:56Speaker 1: of the ball.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I agree, I think you know the fact that you
- 17:59Speaker 4: get one hundred over a hundred thirty yards rushing from
- 18:01Speaker 4: your two tailbacks one hundred and forty one yards overall
- 18:04Speaker 4: with Borrow's ten yards scramble average four and a half
- 18:07Speaker 4: yards per. I mean, defensively, Carolina was able to run
- 18:10Speaker 4: the football as well against the Bengals defense one hundred
- 18:13Speaker 4: and fifty five yards five point three per Hubbard had
- 18:15Speaker 4: one hundred yard day, so you know, I mean, the
- 18:20Speaker 4: good news is Bengals ran the football. Bad news is
- 18:23Speaker 4: Bengals didn't stop the run. And Andy Dalton fed off
- 18:26Speaker 4: of that with a decent performance. But Joe Burrows was better.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Joe Burrow had a quarterback rating of over one hundred
- 18:31Speaker 4: andyes was just over eighty three, so two touchdown passes
- 18:35Speaker 4: and one interception each. And that's the thing I think
- 18:38Speaker 4: about this game as well, Dan, is you know it
- 18:41Speaker 4: was well played. Nobody put the ball on the ground
- 18:43Speaker 4: in terms of a fumble. Neither football team did that.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Both teams threw an interception. The penalty numbers weren't crazy
- 18:51Speaker 4: five penalties for thirty nine yards, six for thirty seven.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I mean, they didn't self destruct, so its a matter
- 18:57Speaker 4: of who was going to make the most plays. And
- 19:00Speaker 4: into the game we thought red zone was going to
- 19:01Speaker 4: be a big deal with the Panthers defense. They gave
- 19:03Speaker 4: up eight touchdowns and nine possessions, Bengals three for three.
- 19:06Speaker 4: So now it's eleven touchdowns and twelve red zone possessions.
- 19:10Speaker 4: That's that's scary. I mean, that's I don't know, I
- 19:12Speaker 4: don't know how you rectify that problem. That's a major
- 19:14Speaker 4: league problem for the Carolina Panthers. They scored two red
- 19:18Speaker 4: zone touchdowns and three opportunities themselves, and the Bengals scored
- 19:21Speaker 4: twenty one points with ten minutes of possession time in
- 19:25Speaker 4: the first half. That was crazy efficient. The Bengals tighten
- 19:29Speaker 4: that up. I mean it was only like almost a
- 19:31Speaker 4: little over two minute difference by the time the game
- 19:34Speaker 4: was over with. But in that first half, you know,
- 19:37Speaker 4: even scoring twenty one points, you know, all the guys
- 19:40Speaker 4: felt like, hey, we just didn't have the ball. We
- 19:42Speaker 4: didn't really establish any rhythm and timing of sorts. You know,
- 19:47Speaker 4: just we're efficient with a dough and got twenty one
- 19:49Speaker 4: on the board was big.
- 19:50Speaker 1: This is the second straight game the Chase Brown has
- 19:53Speaker 1: set up personal rushing high. He had eighty rushing yards
- 19:55Speaker 1: in the game, a couple of touchdown runs. And you
- 19:57Speaker 1: made an interesting point on the broadcast late in the
- 20:00Speaker 1: game when you said, every time he gets the ball,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you hold your breath a little bit thinking that he's
- 20:06Speaker 1: about to break a long.
- 20:07Speaker 4: One, telling you, man, that kid his acceleration is so
- 20:10Speaker 4: quick that when when he takes that first acceleration stuff,
- 20:14Speaker 4: it's like, well, is this going to be it? And
- 20:15Speaker 4: you wonder if the crease is big enough, because he
- 20:18Speaker 4: can he can work his way through some pretty tight
- 20:20Speaker 4: ones with that explosion that he has. He's a He's
- 20:24Speaker 4: a problem for defenses, there's no doubt. I mean, catching
- 20:27Speaker 4: the ball, you know, out of the backfield, screen passes,
- 20:30Speaker 4: running the football like he's able to. You know, he
- 20:33Speaker 4: still has to work on the blitz pickup stuff, make
- 20:35Speaker 4: sure that he's lined up the right Why they had
- 20:37Speaker 4: to burn a timeout on that with a blitz pickup
- 20:39Speaker 4: responsibility got to tighten tighten that kind of stuff up.
- 20:42Speaker 4: But man, physically and athletically, he's a gem.
- 20:46Speaker 1: A Marius Men has made his first started right tackle.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I know he spoke to him after the game. Andy
- 20:50Speaker 1: Dalton had a lot of time to throw most of
- 20:52Speaker 1: the time. What do you think of this line right now?
- 20:55Speaker 4: I think I think the Bengals offensive line is is
- 20:58Speaker 4: doing doing a heck of a job. I mean, Borrow
- 21:00Speaker 4: was effusive in his praise, you know, in the postgame
- 21:04Speaker 4: about how well the offensive line did. There were times
- 21:06Speaker 4: back there with Joe was really I mean, you know, bouncing,
- 21:09Speaker 4: bouncing a few times and it's like, man, they're locking
- 21:12Speaker 4: them up pretty good. You know. Marius BIMs was not
- 21:17Speaker 4: surprisingly extremely humble and he said, you know, I'm going
- 21:21Speaker 4: to learn a lot every single week. This was the
- 21:24Speaker 4: starting point. And uh he credited both Trent and Orlando
- 21:29Speaker 4: for making life easier for him. And that's the good
- 21:32Speaker 4: thing is he listens to those guys. Some rookies think
- 21:35Speaker 4: they know it all this, this young man understands it.
- 21:39Speaker 4: These guys have been in the league for as long
- 21:40Speaker 4: as they have for a reason, and they've been to
- 21:43Speaker 4: the Super Bowl and won a Super Bowl and been
- 21:45Speaker 4: to the Pro Bowl, and so he's going to listen
- 21:47Speaker 4: to guys. And that's that's the way, right way to
- 21:50Speaker 4: approach it. I think he's going to be around a
- 21:53Speaker 4: long time, playing at a very high level.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Man Joe had a lot of time to throw by
- 21:58Speaker 1: and large so did Andy Dalton. As rush remains very
- 22:01Speaker 1: much a working progress.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah it does. And I mean Sam Hubbard's taking snaps
- 22:07Speaker 4: of nose tackle today, taking snaps to three technique, and
- 22:10Speaker 4: he's doing anything the team needs him to do. I mean,
- 22:12Speaker 4: he's such an unselfish player. And then Trey, I mean
- 22:17Speaker 4: not exactly sure what the injury is to Tray, but
- 22:19Speaker 4: everybody's hopeful that's not significant and serious. I mean, you
- 22:23Speaker 4: take away that guy off the edge, that's that's your
- 22:27Speaker 4: that's your guy. When you're when you're missing a guy
- 22:29Speaker 4: who always is disruptive and they have to account for him.
- 22:34Speaker 4: And if that, if that is not available in the
- 22:38Speaker 4: football field, and that's almost irreplaceable.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So bring out in the Ravens next week at pay
- 22:43Speaker 1: Corse Stadium. As we do this interview, they're one and
- 22:45Speaker 1: two with a home game against the undefeated Buffalo Bills tonight.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Be interesting to see how that one goes. But the
- 22:51Speaker 1: Bengals at least put themselves into a position where if
- 22:54Speaker 1: they can be an excellent team at home next Sunday.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Then they are truly right back in the hunt.
- 22:59Speaker 4: And we know Dan that every time that they've done
- 23:03Speaker 4: well for an entire season and been a playoff team
- 23:07Speaker 4: and competitive in the playoffs, they've handled the division. They've
- 23:10Speaker 4: played well in the division. So here comes division matchup
- 23:13Speaker 4: number one, and we know what the AFC is all about.
- 23:16Speaker 4: It's physical, it's cathlic, it's fast. I mean, it's got
- 23:21Speaker 4: it all. And the fact is, with Pittsburgh going down today,
- 23:25Speaker 4: there are only two games out after four games played.
- 23:29Speaker 1: The sweet Nectar of Victory returned at last, nearly nine
- 23:32Speaker 1: months since the last time preseason included that the Bengals
- 23:36Speaker 1: won one.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Sweet Nectar of the victory Gods. I thought they had
- 23:38Speaker 4: deserted us. I'm like, where are the victory Gods? But
- 23:42Speaker 4: that first sip tasted so.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Good as well my first sip of a cold Sinsy light.
- 23:49Speaker 1: When I'm finished with this podcast, here's an invitation to
- 23:52Speaker 1: join us for the Bengals Game Plan Show on Wednesday night.
- 23:55Speaker 1: If you live in the Cincinnati area, We'll be at
- 23:57Speaker 1: Oakley Greens from six to eight and Orlando Brown JUNI
- 24:01Speaker 1: you're a scheduled to join us in the first hour.
- 24:04Speaker 1: If you can't make it, you can listen on ESPN
- 24:06Speaker 1: fifteen thirty or search for ESPN fifteen thirty on the
- 24:11Speaker 1: free iHeartMedia app. Finally, it's time for this week's fun
- 24:16Speaker 1: Fact segment, where you get to know the person under
- 24:20Speaker 1: the pads. Time for some fun facts with tight End
- 24:24Speaker 1: Mike Kasiki, a Jersey guy. Your hometown is listed as Stafford,
- 24:28Speaker 1: New Jersey, which is on the Jersey Shore north of
- 24:31Speaker 1: Atlantic City. Describe your hometown and some of the things
- 24:33Speaker 1: you love about it.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Yeah, So Stafford is the you know, the town whatever
- 24:38Speaker 7: I'm from, like Long Beach Island.
- 24:40Speaker 5: It's just a beach town down in New Jersey.
- 24:44Speaker 7: I grew up right there and from my parents grew up,
- 24:48Speaker 7: and it's where my whole family's grown up.
- 24:50Speaker 5: So I love it.
- 24:52Speaker 7: It's I love, you know, spending my summers back in
- 24:54Speaker 7: New Jersey. I now live about a half hour north
- 24:57Speaker 7: of there, and you know, know, it's it's what, It's
- 25:01Speaker 7: where I call home. So that's where you know. Now
- 25:04Speaker 7: I'm you know, with my wife and you know we
- 25:06Speaker 7: live in New Jersey and her family's there, I mean,
- 25:08Speaker 7: so that's that's definitely home base.
- 25:11Speaker 1: You were a star athlete in high school and football, basketball,
- 25:14Speaker 1: and volleyball. Did you basically jump from one thing to
- 25:17Speaker 1: the next, and do you think it was good for
- 25:19Speaker 1: your overall development?
- 25:20Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 25:21Speaker 5: I did. Uh.
- 25:22Speaker 7: I mean it was just you know, three seasons of
- 25:24Speaker 7: sports in high school and I was playing you know,
- 25:26Speaker 7: football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and then
- 25:28Speaker 7: volleyball in the spring. I think it was great for
- 25:31Speaker 7: my overall just athleticism, you know, not just focusing on
- 25:34Speaker 7: one sport. And you know, obviously, you know, when you
- 25:38Speaker 7: get to this level, you know, now now it's your job,
- 25:40Speaker 7: it's your profession, and there's so much more into it.
- 25:42Speaker 5: But when you're still developing as an athlete.
- 25:44Speaker 7: Uh, you know, back in back in high school, I
- 25:47Speaker 7: thought it was great for me.
- 25:48Speaker 9: Uh.
- 25:48Speaker 5: And it always kept me busy.
- 25:49Speaker 7: It always you know, kept me learning different things, and uh,
- 25:52Speaker 7: you know, I think it always made me a better athlete.
- 25:54Speaker 7: I felt like every year I came back for a
- 25:55Speaker 7: football season and I was, you know, a different athlete,
- 25:58Speaker 7: uh than I was the last season. So it's awesome.
- 26:00Speaker 7: It's you know, made me the player that I am today.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I'm visiting with Mike Asiki in basketball, you're the all
- 26:05Speaker 1: time leading score at your high school. So I did
- 26:07Speaker 1: a quick YouTube search. Good Lord, three sixty dunks alley
- 26:12Speaker 1: you finishes spinning drives to the hoop. It was really impressive.
- 26:15Speaker 1: You're six six. Did you have much interest from colleges
- 26:18Speaker 1: and playing college hoops?
- 26:19Speaker 9: Uh?
- 26:20Speaker 7: Yeah, you know I didn't. I didn't play like AAU basketball,
- 26:23Speaker 7: so I didn't travel. And that was really how you know,
- 26:26Speaker 7: you get recruited for basketball. So you know, a lot
- 26:29Speaker 7: of my recruitment for that kind of wasn't nearly as
- 26:33Speaker 7: large as the football stuff. But you know, I had
- 26:35Speaker 7: you know, offers play basketball from you know, Patriot League
- 26:38Speaker 7: schools like Colgate, Bucknell, schools like that. And then ultimately,
- 26:43Speaker 7: you know, my football recruitment kind of picked up my
- 26:48Speaker 7: like beginning of my junior year of college or beginning
- 26:51Speaker 7: of junior year of high school and started to kind
- 26:54Speaker 7: of see, you know, the vision of what I could
- 26:57Speaker 7: be as a football player, and that was that was the.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Route that I You could have gone just about anywhere.
- 27:02Speaker 1: You chose Penn State and committed to play for Bill O'Brien,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and then before you got there, he left for a
- 27:07Speaker 1: head coaching job in the NFL. How tough. Was that
- 27:10Speaker 1: for you at that age? And why did you decide
- 27:12Speaker 1: to stick with the Nitney Lions.
- 27:14Speaker 7: Yeah, it was, you know at that age obviously you know,
- 27:17Speaker 7: you make a commitment to Penn State and you know
- 27:19Speaker 7: Bill O'Brien, and that was you know a lot of
- 27:21Speaker 7: the main reasons why why I made that commitment.
- 27:24Speaker 5: But you know, ultimately, when when Obi left, coach.
- 27:27Speaker 7: Franklin came in and I had a previous relationship with him,
- 27:30Speaker 7: he had offered me when he was at Vanderbilt.
- 27:33Speaker 5: Then he got the job at Penn State.
- 27:34Speaker 7: So definitely was excited to still go to Penn State
- 27:39Speaker 7: for all the reasons you know, outside of just football
- 27:42Speaker 7: that I.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Was going there for.
- 27:43Speaker 7: And then when coach Franklin got the job, wasn't even
- 27:46Speaker 7: you know a second second, guest. You know, I was
- 27:49Speaker 7: excited to continue to you know, stay committed there and
- 27:52Speaker 7: all that kind of stuff, and ultimately, you know, it
- 27:54Speaker 7: all worked out the way the way that it should have.
- 27:56Speaker 1: You spent four years at Penn State. What was the
- 27:58Speaker 1: best part of your time and Happy Valley.
- 28:00Speaker 7: I think my my junior year, we won the Big
- 28:02Speaker 7: Ten championship game, and uh, you know, we kind of
- 28:05Speaker 7: shocked a lot of teams and a lot of people
- 28:08Speaker 7: around around the country at that time, and we ended up,
- 28:10Speaker 7: you know, putting together a really good season. Uh.
- 28:12Speaker 5: So that was that was a lot of fun for us.
- 28:14Speaker 5: We we you know, had a lot of success that year.
- 28:16Speaker 7: Uh, didn't start off great, but then you know, got
- 28:19Speaker 7: hot at the right time and you know, won the
- 28:21Speaker 7: Big Ten Championship game, went to the Rose Bowl. A
- 28:23Speaker 7: lot of a lot of fun memories were made that
- 28:25Speaker 7: year with you know, a lot of people that I'm
- 28:27Speaker 7: still really close with.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We're visiting with Mike Kasicki. After earning All American honors
- 28:32Speaker 1: your senior year, you were drafted in the second round
- 28:34Speaker 1: by Miami in twenty eighteen, the second tight end selected
- 28:37Speaker 1: that year. Describe your draft experience.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Uh, yeah, it was, I mean definitely an exciting process.
- 28:42Speaker 7: You know, something that you know, you look forward to
- 28:44Speaker 7: your you know, your whole entire life growing up, and
- 28:46Speaker 7: then you know, you go through it.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Uh obviously, you know, you go train for.
- 28:49Speaker 7: The Combine, then you go to the Combine in Indianapolis,
- 28:51Speaker 7: and then uh, you know, you take a couple of
- 28:53Speaker 7: visits you know, pre draft, and then ultimately, you know,
- 28:57Speaker 7: then it's a waiting game and just trying to you know,
- 28:59Speaker 7: figure you're out, uh where you're gonna go and how
- 29:02Speaker 7: you're gonna fit and all that kind of stuff. And
- 29:05Speaker 7: ended up getting drafted by the Dolphins beginning of the
- 29:08Speaker 7: second round and had a you know, great experience with
- 29:12Speaker 7: my friends, my family, uh, you know, everybody back home,
- 29:15Speaker 7: and you know, we we enjoyed that day that night.
- 29:17Speaker 5: And then after that then.
- 29:18Speaker 7: It was off to Miami and get to work and uh,
- 29:21Speaker 7: you know that was you know, the start of my
- 29:22Speaker 7: NFL journey.
- 29:24Speaker 1: In your second year with Miami, the Dolphins decided to
- 29:27Speaker 1: cut the roster essentially and build up a lot of
- 29:29Speaker 1: draft picks. They started on seven that year. Although you
- 29:32Speaker 1: did finish strong, How hard was that especially that early
- 29:36Speaker 1: in your career.
- 29:37Speaker 7: Yeah, it was definitely an interesting process. Uh, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 7: the coach that drafted me was no longer there, so
- 29:42Speaker 7: then trying to you know, earn trust and earn respect
- 29:45Speaker 7: from a new coaching staff.
- 29:47Speaker 5: So that was that was one thing.
- 29:49Speaker 7: And then once I was finally able to do that
- 29:52Speaker 7: and just go out there and make plays and you.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Know, make the most of your opportunities.
- 29:55Speaker 7: And uh, you know, that season like you said, oh
- 29:58Speaker 7: and seven, it wasn't It wasn't very fun to start off.
- 30:01Speaker 7: But we actually, you know, for the situation that we
- 30:05Speaker 7: were in, and like you said, you know, the roster
- 30:08Speaker 7: where there was where there was trades.
- 30:10Speaker 5: And there was guys that you know, probably.
- 30:12Speaker 7: Could have helped us win, but we ended up going
- 30:15Speaker 7: for draft picks in the future, and you know all
- 30:17Speaker 7: that kind of stuff, the business side of it that
- 30:19Speaker 7: the players have no control of. You know, we ended
- 30:23Speaker 7: up having having a fun, a fun season of the
- 30:25Speaker 7: second half of the year.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Ryan Fitzpatrick was our.
- 30:28Speaker 7: Quarterback and kind of got us rolling with his experience
- 30:31Speaker 7: and you know some of the things that he was
- 30:33Speaker 7: doing out there, and we made some plays and you know,
- 30:36Speaker 7: ultimately had had a had a good second half of
- 30:39Speaker 7: the season and something to build on for the future.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Bengals fans will remember the next to last game of
- 30:44Speaker 1: the year that year, you caught a couple of touchdown
- 30:46Speaker 1: passes against Cincinnati, but the Bengals scored sixteen points in
- 30:50Speaker 1: the last twenty nine seconds the for US overtime. The
- 30:54Speaker 1: Dolphins ultimately won the game. Described being on the opposite
- 30:57Speaker 1: sideline when that was going on.
- 30:59Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely, Uh it's funny to be on the other
- 31:02Speaker 7: side now, you know of what people called, you know,
- 31:06Speaker 7: the the Joe Burrow Bowl back.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Then, and uh it is it is funny.
- 31:11Speaker 7: So uh, you know that game, you know, like you said,
- 31:14Speaker 7: you know, I was able to make some plays to
- 31:15Speaker 7: score two touchdowns and uh we ended up winning the game,
- 31:19Speaker 7: and obviously you know, Cincinnati uh ended up with with
- 31:24Speaker 7: Joe Burrow after that, so uh definitely, uh, definitely a
- 31:28Speaker 7: win win and it was you know, it was it
- 31:32Speaker 7: was a fun game, exciting game.
- 31:33Speaker 9: Uh.
- 31:33Speaker 7: You know, when you're when you're playing and you know
- 31:36Speaker 7: you're the player in it, you're not thinking about the
- 31:38Speaker 7: draft picks or anything like that. You're just going out
- 31:40Speaker 7: trying to execute and do your job to the to
- 31:42Speaker 7: the highest of your abilities. And that's what I was
- 31:44Speaker 7: trying to do that day. But looking back now, it's
- 31:48Speaker 7: it's funny to you know, be a part of that
- 31:50Speaker 7: for Miami's organization and now now I'm part of it
- 31:54Speaker 7: for you know, the Bengals organization.
- 31:55Speaker 5: And uh, you know, playing with with.
- 31:57Speaker 7: The guy that you know everybody was was playing for
- 32:00Speaker 7: or at that at that day.
- 32:01Speaker 1: We're doing fun facts with Mike Kasicki. After five years
- 32:03Speaker 1: in Miami, you spent last year in New England where
- 32:06Speaker 1: you played for Bill Belichick. It wasn't a winning season,
- 32:09Speaker 1: But what will you tell your kids and grandkids someday
- 32:12Speaker 1: about playing for arguably the greatest coach of all time.
- 32:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I got a lot of respect for Bill.
- 32:16Speaker 7: Bill was an unbelievable coach, a great mentor, and a
- 32:21Speaker 7: guy that honestly, uh doesn't get a lot does does
- 32:24Speaker 7: not get enough credit for his personality. That's That's the
- 32:27Speaker 7: one thing I always tell people about about Bill is
- 32:29Speaker 7: you know, he he had a great personality with joke,
- 32:31Speaker 7: laughing around. Uh, joke, joke around, laugh with these guys
- 32:34Speaker 7: and have fun. Obviously when it was time to, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 7: get down to business, it was time to get down
- 32:39Speaker 7: to business. But learn a lot about football, learn a
- 32:42Speaker 7: lot about situational football, Uh, how to win games, and
- 32:45Speaker 7: you know how teams can lose games as well. And uh,
- 32:50Speaker 7: I think you know, like you said, it wasn't a
- 32:51Speaker 7: winning season. It wasn't something that you know, you look
- 32:53Speaker 7: back on with a ton of you know, success individually
- 32:56Speaker 7: or collectively as a team. But uh, there's some things
- 33:00Speaker 7: from that year that you know, I'll take with me
- 33:01Speaker 7: for the rest of my career.
- 33:03Speaker 1: You signed as a free agent with Cincinnati this year.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Describe something that's a little bit different about playing here
- 33:09Speaker 1: that you enjoy so far.
- 33:11Speaker 7: First and foremost, the fans are awesome. They're, uh, you know, from.
- 33:15Speaker 5: The day I got here. You know, they've been super supportive.
- 33:18Speaker 7: And I think, you know, just the the chemistry in
- 33:21Speaker 7: the locker room with the guys, everybody's everybody's been awesome,
- 33:23Speaker 7: you know, as a new guy, everybody has kind of
- 33:25Speaker 7: welcomed me with open arms, and it's been made the
- 33:28Speaker 7: transition very smooth. And now you know, here we are,
- 33:31Speaker 7: and you know, mid mid September, you know, I feel
- 33:33Speaker 7: like I've already been here for you know, quite some
- 33:35Speaker 7: time now, just because of how uh, you know, just
- 33:38Speaker 7: welcoming and how great the staff is and how great
- 33:41Speaker 7: the players are everybody in the building.
- 33:43Speaker 5: So it's been it's been a fun experience.
- 33:45Speaker 1: All right. A few wild card topics now to wrap
- 33:48Speaker 1: things up with Mike Kasicki. He told me during training
- 33:50Speaker 1: camp that you have a jugs machine at home and
- 33:53Speaker 1: catch two hundred balls a day during the off season.
- 33:55Speaker 1: What's a jugs machine cost? And who feeds the balls?
- 33:59Speaker 1: Into the machine.
- 34:00Speaker 7: Yeah, so judge machine probably run you about anywhere from
- 34:04Speaker 7: like twenty five hundred to thirty five hundred, depending on
- 34:08Speaker 7: which one you get. And it's been a great investment though.
- 34:11Speaker 7: I got at my rookie year, and you know, I
- 34:13Speaker 7: mean so now I've used it for seven years and
- 34:16Speaker 7: it's been great. I have it, you know, just set
- 34:18Speaker 7: up in my backyard and I'll just I'll catch and
- 34:22Speaker 7: throw it back.
- 34:23Speaker 5: My wife will shoot it back.
- 34:24Speaker 7: And so so we get out there and it probably
- 34:27Speaker 7: takes about twenty minutes for me and her to shoot
- 34:31Speaker 7: two hundred footballs and catch two hunred footballs. And I
- 34:33Speaker 7: give her a lot of credit because I mean, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 7: she doesn't have to be out there doing it, but
- 34:39Speaker 7: I do. I do appreciate, you know, her support and
- 34:41Speaker 7: her time because it helps me, you know, make these
- 34:44Speaker 7: plays on Sunday.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Thank you, missus Kasiki for helping out. Who is your
- 34:48Speaker 1: all time favorite athlete in any sport?
- 34:51Speaker 2: And why?
- 34:52Speaker 5: Favorite athlete of all time is Vince Carter.
- 34:54Speaker 7: I grew up in New Jersey, was grew up a
- 34:57Speaker 7: big Nets fan, and that's one, you know.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, and those guys were.
- 35:01Speaker 7: Playing for the Nets, and Vince was, you know.
- 35:05Speaker 5: My favorite player.
- 35:06Speaker 7: My dad got season tickets for him and I when
- 35:11Speaker 7: I was in sixth grade and we would go to
- 35:16Speaker 7: the Nets games, and I mean it was it was awesome,
- 35:19Speaker 7: a lot of fun that year, and you know, Vince
- 35:22Speaker 7: was the best player on the team and the guy
- 35:23Speaker 7: that I looked up to and still to this day.
- 35:25Speaker 7: I mean, I'll still catch myself on YouTube watching Vince
- 35:28Speaker 7: Carter highlights.
- 35:29Speaker 6: He was.
- 35:29Speaker 5: He was fun to watch.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I hope your NFL careers as long as his NBA
- 35:33Speaker 1: career was, because it was incredible. The TV show Jersey
- 35:36Speaker 1: Shore has been off the air for about ten years,
- 35:39Speaker 1: but we remember Snookie and Jaywow. As a person from
- 35:43Speaker 1: that area, How did you feel about it?
- 35:46Speaker 7: I watched it when I was younger. I don't I
- 35:48Speaker 7: think there's still like some stuff going on now. I
- 35:50Speaker 7: don't watch anymore, but I do remember watching a couple
- 35:52Speaker 7: of episodes when I was younger.
- 35:54Speaker 5: I don't claim that much of that.
- 35:57Speaker 7: When I think of New Jersey and I think of
- 35:58Speaker 7: my experiences in this New Jersey and all that kind
- 36:01Speaker 7: of stuff I have, I can understand some of it,
- 36:04Speaker 7: but I don't. That's not that's not me in New Jersey.
- 36:06Speaker 7: So when you're thinking about me when I talk about it,
- 36:09Speaker 7: that's not, that's not really me. But I do remember
- 36:11Speaker 7: watching it when I was younger.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Aside from sports, what are you good at?
- 36:16Speaker 5: I think just you know, just being personally.
- 36:19Speaker 7: I mean a good friend, a good you know, son,
- 36:22Speaker 7: a good husband, a good brother, just uh, somebody that
- 36:26Speaker 7: you know, I like to spend time with, you know,
- 36:27Speaker 7: people that I care about. So when when I'm not
- 36:29Speaker 7: playing football, you know, I like, whether it's in the
- 36:32Speaker 7: off season, or whether it's some downtime, uh like a
- 36:35Speaker 7: you know, a Monday night heading into an off day
- 36:37Speaker 7: on a Tuesday, Uh, just hanging out with my wife
- 36:39Speaker 7: and us doing you know something, whether it's you know,
- 36:41Speaker 7: something as small as going out to eat, going on
- 36:43Speaker 7: a date like that, or you know, hanging in and
- 36:45Speaker 7: watching you know, some shows on TV.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Whatever it is.
- 36:49Speaker 7: So I think just you know, when it's outside of football,
- 36:52Speaker 7: because so much of your time in this uh, in
- 36:55Speaker 7: this business is put into the game of football, and
- 36:58Speaker 7: so much times invested into it, and you got to
- 37:00Speaker 7: sacrifice so much time that when you're out of it
- 37:02Speaker 7: in the off seasons, or on those you know, down times,
- 37:04Speaker 7: you got to you know, spend time with the people
- 37:06Speaker 7: that help you get there, and then that's something I
- 37:08Speaker 7: probe myself phone.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Final question, This one's kind of deep. If you could
- 37:12Speaker 1: meet anybody in history, living or deceased, who would that
- 37:16Speaker 1: person be.
- 37:17Speaker 5: My my dad's dad.
- 37:19Speaker 7: He passed away when my dad was, you know, even
- 37:22Speaker 7: younger than I am right now. So I think I think,
- 37:25Speaker 7: I think it would have to be him just to
- 37:27Speaker 7: kind of get an understanding of, you know, where, you know,
- 37:30Speaker 7: how my dad grew up and then obviously how he
- 37:32Speaker 7: raised me. So that's that's gonna be my answer here
- 37:35Speaker 7: would be would be my uh my dad's dad, so
- 37:39Speaker 7: my my my grandfather.
- 37:41Speaker 5: On my dad's side.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yeah, A good answer and a great fun facts episode.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I appreciate your time, best of luck for the rest
- 37:48Speaker 1: of the year.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Awesome, Thank you so much.
