Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is 710WOR, where the Mark Simone Show starts now.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's right, it's three hours now, nine to noon, if
- 0:11Speaker 1: there's anybody who still doesn't know. Nine to noon every day,
- 0:14Speaker 1: three hours every day. A lot to get to. We'll
- 0:17Speaker 1: get to Lindsay Clancy and all the latest. We'll get
- 0:19Speaker 1: to President Trump in Ireland. We'll get to this big
- 0:24Speaker 1: AI scare. Who's really behind this? We'll get to the U.S. Open.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Thank God it's over. Yesterday was the last day, right?
- 0:33Speaker 1: We don't have to see this again? Good. Not a
- 0:37Speaker 1: big U.S. Open fan. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie
- 0:41Speaker 1: and AOC laughing at 9-11. We'll get to the governor's race.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We'll get to Celine Dion and more vicious, vicious rain yesterday.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It came down just so fast and so hard. Fairfield County,
- 0:59Speaker 1: Connecticut getting hit probably the hardest. Stanford, Connecticut, seven inches
- 1:03Speaker 1: of rain hit. Tremendous flooding in areas in Stanford, Darien, Westport.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I mean, you see the video on the news, people
- 1:11Speaker 1: in boats going. I mean, it was just awful. But
- 1:15Speaker 1: luckily it ended about noon and things getting back to normal.
- 1:18Speaker 1: They even closed the Bronx River Parkway for a time.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yesterday in Westchester, President Trump in Ireland with the Irish
- 1:27Speaker 1: Prime Minister, and they're talking about all sorts of stuff.
- 1:31Speaker 1: The one thing he, well, you know, whiskey's a big
- 1:35Speaker 1: thing over there. Whiskey's a big thing. Everybody's been bugging me.
- 1:39Speaker 1: They're saying, would you do me a favor? It's so
- 1:41Speaker 1: unfair what's going on. Could you possibly.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Take the tariffs off of Irish whiskey?
- 1:52Speaker 1: All right. Become a real politician, knows how to pander
- 1:56Speaker 1: when he needs to. So that'll be that for that text.
- 1:59Speaker 1: He talked about unification, which very controversial over there, but
- 2:04Speaker 1: that's just a logical thing to say. I mean, you
- 2:06Speaker 1: always want to see unification anywhere where any country is
- 2:10Speaker 1: divided in two. It's not a crazy thing to say.
- 2:14Speaker 1: You know, last week they had that midterm convention, that
- 2:19Speaker 1: Republican midterm convention. It was a good idea, a very
- 2:22Speaker 1: good idea, although I don't know who the hell saw it.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It was on Fox News, but you figure most of
- 2:28Speaker 1: those viewers already voting Republican. So I don't know who
- 2:32Speaker 1: saw it. And then he threw out this thing about
- 2:36Speaker 1: a $ 5, 000 check for everybody in America. If we win
- 2:41Speaker 1: a $ 5, 000 check now. apparently, from what I hear, that
- 2:46Speaker 1: was not in the speech, that was not in the script,
- 2:49Speaker 1: that was not in the teleprompter. He just threw it
- 2:52Speaker 1: out there out of nowhere, just out at the top
- 2:55Speaker 1: of his head, totally terrifying his staff and everybody because
- 3:00Speaker 1: they knew this was going to be controversial. So, of course,
- 3:04Speaker 1: on the Sunday shows, this is all they zero in on.
- 3:07Speaker 1: This is all they want to know about. Now, he
- 3:09Speaker 1: just threw it out there. It wasn't even planned. He's
- 3:12Speaker 1: just shooting his mouth off. But we've heard this before
- 3:15Speaker 1: from politicians with Obama phones, with Biden yelling and screaming,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I'll forgive your student loans. When had he actually seriously
- 3:23Speaker 1: looked into it, he would have found he can't do it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He has no power to do it. So they just
- 3:28Speaker 1: throw out these things to appease the crowd. But if
- 3:32Speaker 1: you're watching the Sunday shows, they never got to any
- 3:34Speaker 1: real topics. They just zeroed in on that $ 5, 000. It's
- 3:37Speaker 1: just something. Now, maybe sometimes when... Donald Trump shoots his
- 3:42Speaker 1: mouth off. You think he's just reckless, but then it
- 3:46Speaker 1: turns out there was an incredible strategy to it. So
- 3:49Speaker 1: this could be one of those cases. Maybe he wants
- 3:52Speaker 1: everybody talking about that $ 5, 000 check. Because as I say,
- 3:55Speaker 1: who saw this midterm convention? How many people saw that speech?
- 4:00Speaker 1: It was a little too long. It was an hour
- 4:01Speaker 1: and 47 minutes. A lot of people tuned out after
- 4:04Speaker 1: 45 minutes. You just can't get people to focus that long. Also,
- 4:08Speaker 1: it's on against a big NFL opening game. So by
- 4:12Speaker 1: throwing that out there and creating all this controversy, everywhere
- 4:15Speaker 1: you go, every left-wing fake news network show, they're all
- 4:19Speaker 1: talking about it. So maybe, you know, people just half
- 4:24Speaker 1: pay attention to the news in many cases. Maybe they
- 4:27Speaker 1: want to just keep hearing $ 5, 000 check. You're getting a
- 4:30Speaker 1: $ 5, 000 check. But here's Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House.
- 4:34Speaker 1: He's on the Sunday show to talk about serious matters.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And all she wants to ask about Or this might
- 4:41Speaker 1: be Meet the Press. They're all the same. The worst
- 4:43Speaker 1: is that Kristen Welker, she doesn't even try to sound
- 4:46Speaker 1: like a journalist. She just sounds like a prosecutor, like
- 4:49Speaker 1: for the Democrats, trying to tear apart Republicans. So whatever
- 4:53Speaker 1: Johnson wants to talk about, she keeps asking about this $ 5, 000. Again,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we've got to process it like every idea. We'll work
- 4:58Speaker 1: that through Congress. But you and I are wasting a
- 5:00Speaker 1: lot of time this morning when there's other important things
- 5:02Speaker 1: to talk about.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Well, you still haven't answered the question. Let me just
- 5:06Speaker 2: button it up.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We're going to move on to a number of other topics.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But do you commit that if Republicans hold on to
- 5:09Speaker 1: the House and Senate that Americans will get those $ 5, 000 checks?
- 5:13Speaker 2: I commit that Congress will work through it and find
- 5:16Speaker 2: consensus on that like I have to do everything else.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, that's a pretty good answer, but it's not what
- 5:21Speaker 1: she wants. You see, most of these people, they're not
- 5:22Speaker 1: looking for substance. These George Stephanopoulos, Kristen Welker, Martha Raddatz-type interviews,
- 5:29Speaker 1: they're not looking for substance in an answer. They're fishing
- 5:32Speaker 1: for a soundbite. They want a soundbite that they can
- 5:35Speaker 1: play over and over again. That's why, like in the debate,
- 5:37Speaker 1: they'll say, it's a yes or no question. I want
- 5:39Speaker 1: a yes or no answer. And every politician should say,
- 5:43Speaker 1: whenever that happens, I don't answer yes or no questions.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I can only give you a detailed answer with substance.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I don't do yes or no questions. So. But again,
- 5:53Speaker 1: it's just an idea he just tossed out. Because everybody
- 5:56Speaker 1: said that the great, big, beautiful bill.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Will never happen.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It happened.
- 6:01Speaker 2: They said that the $ 1, 776 for the military, $ 1, 776.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Would never happen.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And it happened.
- 6:09Speaker 1: They were paid.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And now they say, oh, the $ 5, 000. The $ 5, 000 is
- 6:12Speaker 2: going to happen 100%.
- 6:13Speaker 1: All right. You never know. You never know. If he
- 6:17Speaker 1: gets the Congress— control of the Congress— In the midterms, they
- 6:20Speaker 1: can pass another big, beautiful bill, which increases revenue into
- 6:25Speaker 1: the federal government, which just makes the economy soar. And
- 6:31Speaker 1: from that, he could actually give a dividend back, $ 5, 000.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It cost about a trillion bucks, but he could do it. Now,
- 6:37Speaker 1: people are yelling right now, Democrats, what do you mean
- 6:41Speaker 1: revenue is up? Deficit has nothing to do with revenue.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Revenue actually increased dramatically. Revenue is up, way up. That dividend,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I mean, that deficit, that's government spending. Out of control, crazy,
- 6:56Speaker 1: insane government spending. Republicans, just as bad as Democrats when
- 7:00Speaker 1: it comes to that. They're horrible at it. They're just
- 7:03Speaker 1: handing out contracts, letting everybody overcharge by 10,000% for the
- 7:07Speaker 1: work in exchange for donations, votes. So deficit, government spending.
- 7:14Speaker 1: It's a measure of government spending. That's all it is. Hey,
- 7:17Speaker 1: the Lindsay Clancy trial. This lawyer, he's like a real
- 7:23Speaker 1: showboating lawyer. He says everything is for the cameras. You know, even,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you remember he asked last week, he asked Donald Trump
- 7:29Speaker 1: to pardon Lindsay Clancy. There's no federal charges. It's a
- 7:35Speaker 1: local charge. Trump has no power to pardon a local case.
- 7:38Speaker 1: It has to be a federal case. He's a lawyer.
- 7:42Speaker 1: This guy would know that, wouldn't he? He knows Trump
- 7:45Speaker 1: has no power to pardon in a local criminal case.
- 7:49Speaker 1: That has to be the governor. It can't be the president.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So just playing for the cameras. Apparently, they want a
- 7:55Speaker 1: plea deal. Now, the problem is this particular prosecutor, this
- 8:01Speaker 1: particular DA's office does not plea deal. They have a
- 8:04Speaker 1: history of not making deals. Extremely rare for this office.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But he's all over television. He's trying to convince them
- 8:14Speaker 1: that they got no hope of conviction, that they'll get
- 8:16Speaker 1: embarrassed again with a hung jury. They shouldn't try. So Uh,
- 8:19Speaker 1: she just doesn't want to go to jail. She doesn't
- 8:21Speaker 1: want prison. She's going to be in a, she's already
- 8:23Speaker 1: in a mental facility, but she's going to be there
- 8:25Speaker 1: no matter what happens. She'll be there for years. It's
- 8:28Speaker 1: a question of a couple of years in the mental
- 8:31Speaker 1: institution or life in prison. So he wants a plea deal.
- 8:35Speaker 1: That's the mental institution. She also wants money. She's suing
- 8:40Speaker 1: the hospitals, the doctors, everything, all the medication they gave her,
- 8:44Speaker 1: the times they switched the medication. So she's suing for
- 8:47Speaker 1: millions and millions and millions of dollars. And the husband
- 8:51Speaker 1: is suing as well. And then they got this GoFundMe
- 8:54Speaker 1: where they're going to raise $ 3 million. The lawyer will
- 8:57Speaker 1: get a big chunk of that. I don't know who
- 8:59Speaker 1: else will get a big chunk of that. Hey, big
- 9:03Speaker 1: story starting last night is this AI threat. AI is
- 9:09Speaker 1: going to destroy us all. We have to get it
- 9:11Speaker 1: under control. AI is already getting out of control. We
- 9:14Speaker 1: have to slow down development of AI or it's going
- 9:18Speaker 1: to murder us all. Sounds pretty scary. You had the
- 9:23Speaker 1: CEO of Anthropic coming out and saying this. He even
- 9:26Speaker 1: wrote an editorial saying it. You've got some other AI people,
- 9:30Speaker 1: mostly employees, saying it's dangerous, it's out of control, it's
- 9:34Speaker 1: going to wipe us all out. Why all of a sudden?
- 9:38Speaker 1: Why One day, did this just get unleashed like crazy? Well,
- 9:44Speaker 1: this is— now, forget for a second whether there's a threat
- 9:48Speaker 1: from AI or not. What we do know is that
- 9:52Speaker 1: behind the scenes, stirring this all up, orchestrating this, getting
- 9:56Speaker 1: this whole thing going, this explosion of controversy, is one
- 10:01Speaker 1: Barack Obama. Apparently he's been meeting with Democrats behind the scenes.
- 10:07Speaker 1: He's been quietly orchestrating the midterm campaign for Democrats, strategizing.
- 10:13Speaker 1: He's been plotting all of this. The first plot was
- 10:17Speaker 1: the data center's the AI data centers, they would turn
- 10:20Speaker 1: them into like nuclear power plants, something so scary to
- 10:25Speaker 1: have in your backyard, to have in your state, in
- 10:27Speaker 1: your community. They wanted people terrified of these data centers.
- 10:34Speaker 1: The nuclear power plant, maybe it could scare people with that.
- 10:37Speaker 1: A data center is just a big, huge building with
- 10:39Speaker 1: a lot of computers in it. The worst problem is
- 10:42Speaker 1: it makes a lot of noise. You don't want it
- 10:44Speaker 1: too close to you. It makes a lot of noise
- 10:47Speaker 1: that can definitely be bad a half mile away and
- 10:49Speaker 1: can still be heard a mile away. So if you
- 10:52Speaker 1: just put it a mile away from everybody, it's no problem.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's not going to melt down. It's not going to explode.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It's just a bunch of computers in a big, huge building.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We already have data centers all over the place. We
- 11:03Speaker 1: have 19 data centers in New York City. They've been
- 11:06Speaker 1: there for quite a while. They're not the big, big ones,
- 11:09Speaker 1: but they're data centers. So apparently the data center scare
- 11:15Speaker 1: wasn't working as far as midterm election votes. So they've
- 11:19Speaker 1: decided to make AI the big issue. The other thing
- 11:23Speaker 1: is they've seen the whole climate change stuff didn't work.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It worked for a time, but right now nobody's worried
- 11:30Speaker 1: about climate change. It's now 20 years later. When was
- 11:34Speaker 1: Al Gore? In 1992. It's more than 20 years. 24
- 11:39Speaker 1: years later and nothing he said came true. We're not
- 11:42Speaker 1: underwater anymore. The glaciers didn't melt. In fact, they're bigger now.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Everything he predicted, the opposite happened. So nobody's quite buying
- 11:48Speaker 1: that climate scare anymore. The climate emergency. You can't use
- 11:54Speaker 1: that anymore. So they're trying to get a new version
- 11:56Speaker 1: of that, and it's going to be the AI emergency.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Just like climate change was going to wipe us all out,
- 12:03Speaker 1: this is going to be AI is going to wipe
- 12:05Speaker 1: us all out. So apparently Obama has been orchestrating this
- 12:09Speaker 1: behind the scenes. But you... You're saying, well, what about
- 12:13Speaker 1: the chairman of Anthropic, the CEO? He came out and
- 12:16Speaker 1: said it. Yeah, he's very, very close to Obama. He's
- 12:21Speaker 1: a very close Obama associate. The fact that he was
- 12:26Speaker 1: the one AI CEO that came out makes this even
- 12:29Speaker 1: more obvious as part of this Obama scheme. So he
- 12:32Speaker 1: wants this to be the big midterm issue that AI
- 12:36Speaker 1: is going to kill us all. We have to put
- 12:37Speaker 1: government control over it. And they figured the Republicans will
- 12:42Speaker 1: oppose it. They'll be the ones fighting for this kind
- 12:45Speaker 1: of control. And that will be the winning issue in
- 12:48Speaker 1: the midterms. I don't think this will work because, first
- 12:51Speaker 1: of all, most people aren't that stupid. I mean, AI
- 12:55Speaker 1: has tremendous benefits. They think within five years it could
- 12:59Speaker 1: cure all diseases, that kind of stuff. Obviously, it's something
- 13:03Speaker 1: to be worried about, but it has so much benefit
- 13:06Speaker 1: to it. And government control, how's that going to happen?
- 13:09Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer controlling AI? Do you think Chuck Schumer even
- 13:12Speaker 1: knows how to use his computer? He's one of those
- 13:15Speaker 1: old guys that has to call his kids to come
- 13:17Speaker 1: over and show him how to start his computer again.
- 13:21Speaker 1: He doesn't know anything about AI. President Trump is all
- 13:25Speaker 1: for keeping going. He thinks it's very important that we
- 13:28Speaker 1: lead the world in AI. Whoever wins this battle wins everything.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That's President Trump.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Let's talk about Anthropic. They did something that was very bad.
- 13:39Speaker 2: three months ago, and we shut them down. We shut
- 13:43Speaker 2: them down fast. We have guardrails. The biggest guardrails are
- 13:47Speaker 2: having people that are just as smart because nobody understands it.
- 13:50Speaker 2: We're making strides in every business right now that would take,
- 13:53Speaker 2: in many cases, 100 years to get to. The kind
- 13:56Speaker 2: of things that are coming out are incredible. Now, we
- 13:59Speaker 2: want guardrails, but at the same time, it's a very
- 14:01Speaker 2: fine line. You know, China doesn't have guardrails, by the way.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You know, the guardrail is President Xi.
- 14:06Speaker 1: That's the guardrail.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Well, that's the other thing to remember. If we slow
- 14:10Speaker 1: down AI, China will just increase it. Remember the same
- 14:14Speaker 1: thing with the climate and that stuff. I'm going to
- 14:16Speaker 1: get rid of all our coal plants. But then China
- 14:20Speaker 1: made 500 times as many coal plants as they had.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So you had more coal being produced than ever before.
- 14:25Speaker 1: The same thing with AI. Now, when these guys try
- 14:29Speaker 1: to scare you that AI could kill us all, how
- 14:32Speaker 1: exactly would it kill us? And no matter what it
- 14:36Speaker 1: was doing, I mean, it's terrifying. digital it's online I
- 14:39Speaker 1: mean the worst would happen you have to pull the
- 14:41Speaker 1: plug and turn it off but I mean the one
- 14:45Speaker 1: thing it could do if it got totally out of
- 14:47Speaker 1: control and tried to take over it could just jam
- 14:51Speaker 1: up the internet it can I mean right now AI
- 14:54Speaker 1: can create bots so fast if you have a website
- 14:59Speaker 1: and it's getting attacked by a bot which is like
- 15:01Speaker 1: a fake account you know most websites know how to
- 15:06Speaker 1: fight off those bots and As they come in, they
- 15:10Speaker 1: have software that will recognize it, block it, and stop it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: But if you used AI, it could send 5 million
- 15:17Speaker 1: blots in a microsecond more than your software could handle.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So that's the kind of stuff that could happen. Outside
- 15:23Speaker 1: of that, it's not going to kill you. There's certain
- 15:26Speaker 1: proposals like, well, we're going to have robots all over
- 15:29Speaker 1: the place. Don't put the AI in the robots because
- 15:31Speaker 1: the robot's a physical thing that actually could kill you,
- 15:34Speaker 1: could get nuts. So But again, it's Obama behind this.
- 15:39Speaker 1: They're using it as a midterm election issue. And if,
- 15:44Speaker 1: let's say, they lose the midterms, the Democrats, you won't
- 15:47Speaker 1: even hear about it the next day. Anyway, we've got
- 15:49Speaker 1: a lot more to get to. We'll get to Celine
- 15:52Speaker 1: Dion makes her return. We'll get to Mamdani and more.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Coming up, it's Mark Simone here every day. Now, three hours,
- 15:59Speaker 1: nine to noon, here on 710WOR.
