- 0:43Speaker 4: It's incredible, like a movie.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I've seen that, and then when they performed it, I
- 0:48Speaker 2: think on Jimmy fou say, actually, I don't think he's
- 0:53Speaker 2: been around that long. I don't know somebody, Oh, David
- 0:56Speaker 2: Letterman probably Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 3: And it was cool, great video. They play cops in there,
- 1:01Speaker 3: great mustaches.
- 1:03Speaker 5: All their videos are pretty cool.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Beastie Boys Alzheimer's this is where this is where you
- 1:12Speaker 3: confirm them.
- 1:12Speaker 4: So do we just switch from the Beastie Boys.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Beastie Boys is always Hour three. That's been the Hour
- 1:20Speaker 3: three open.
- 1:21Speaker 6: That's been like that for months, I know, for at least.
- 1:25Speaker 5: I don't know. It may have been like that when
- 1:27Speaker 5: I no, I changed it I'm saying, and I thought
- 1:30Speaker 5: it was like that when I got here.
- 1:31Speaker 3: If you want to get the juices flowing sabotage, that's
- 1:34Speaker 3: why we play it an hour number three.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, maybe maybe like.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Oh you good, I gonna work three hours.
- 1:39Speaker 4: We got the juice.
- 1:40Speaker 3: First two, we got over and I got to bring
- 1:42Speaker 3: it for another hour.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And that's what that does. I ain't got to worry
- 1:47Speaker 4: about us.
- 1:48Speaker 3: No, I'm saying others, other people, others. We'll put the
- 1:51Speaker 3: pontoon parlay out there. Yeah, we are trying. I'm trying
- 1:54Speaker 3: to get something around seven fifty two plus one thousand
- 1:59Speaker 3: if we can. So maybe if we have to add
- 2:01Speaker 3: a fourth team, maybe we whichever one.
- 2:04Speaker 4: We decide the final.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Well, Louisville, UTSA, and LSU were all three for sure
- 2:10Speaker 3: in it because we picked them and they're hydrated.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Is that okay? So like we pick them and they're hydrated,
- 2:17Speaker 2: that's what the parlay is going to be.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I think, so okay, I think so okay. But the
- 2:21Speaker 3: only problem is, like the other hydrated teams, Arizona we
- 2:24Speaker 3: picked you, and see Tennessee, we picked Arkansas Coastal. It's
- 2:28Speaker 3: not hydrated. But Auburn is Taylor.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Who is it in the chat that said the show's
- 2:32Speaker 6: lost all integrity because of my.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Oh I don't know, Ryan something.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Journalistic integrity is out the window, dream my hid I count.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Not sorry, but don't we always say that the picks
- 2:45Speaker 2: that you go off of vibes, like when girls they're
- 2:48Speaker 2: just like, oh, I'm gonna go like I do that
- 2:50Speaker 2: with the March madness, I went off total.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Vibes and better than My final four was.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Well, to be fair, I picked all the one seats
- 2:59Speaker 2: for the final four and they were all.
- 3:03Speaker 5: He had Clemson in the final four of his bracket.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, they do. They also in the first game, they
- 3:10Speaker 4: lost the first game.
- 3:12Speaker 6: It's not good my daughter's that she won our family
- 3:16Speaker 6: bracket challenge.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well that doesn't surprise me. You don't watch basketball.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I don't. It wasn't even close either, Yeah, also believe
- 3:24Speaker 4: college basketball. I also believe that it wasn't close. Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Basketball basketball was a little bit like that, though, well
- 3:32Speaker 3: not this year. This year was real, Chalky. Yeah, I
- 3:36Speaker 3: won the serious XM Channel eighty four.
- 3:40Speaker 6: This is not the year to win though, because like,
- 3:42Speaker 6: like you said that, you're just the lame guy picking
- 3:44Speaker 6: all the ones.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but a lot of times like you'll talk yourself
- 3:47Speaker 3: out of it because you're like, man, it can't be
- 3:48Speaker 3: this chalky, like I could have some upsets.
- 3:50Speaker 4: One not really no, no, not if you're super lame.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Not this year.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You know it's not super lame. Elite Training Academy.

- 5:01Speaker 3: Look, I mean, you know, we'll get some outside time
- 5:04Speaker 3: at ELIPE, but when you got an indoor facility in uh,
- 5:08Speaker 3: South Louisiana comes.
- 5:09Speaker 4: In handy, pretty handy.
- 5:13Speaker 6: I think that mofat used to tell us that to
- 5:14Speaker 6: bring your lunch it meant something different.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Meant something, bring your lunch, bring your lunch, Bring your lunch.
- 5:23Speaker 3: He also told us to get our piss hot. Still
- 5:25Speaker 3: don't really know what that means, but he told.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Us that's pretty often it's your chili hot. Uh, Like.
- 5:31Speaker 3: He's likely warm, you know.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Yeah, you won't.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Question like a lot of old coaches saying you don't
- 5:38Speaker 6: really question it. Yeah, it's just like you get the understanding.
- 5:41Speaker 6: But yeah, that's what we said too.
- 5:43Speaker 4: This is hot.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm like yeah, like, I mean, like you really know now,
- 5:47Speaker 3: being a hydration guy, you know all about your all
- 5:50Speaker 3: about it.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I mean, seriously, you think about it.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the worst thing you ever heard a coach say.
- 5:58Speaker 3: That you can tell because mine's easy. Jimbo, I wish
- 6:01Speaker 3: your parents never met, said it to face Jones. That's
- 6:07Speaker 3: David Jones. Lsu tied end. Yeah, we called it face
- 6:11Speaker 3: for we know the reason, but.
- 6:13Speaker 4: We're not telling.
- 6:15Speaker 6: So as a college kid, that is, you know, very
- 6:20Speaker 6: very mean, but as an adult objectively funny.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I mean I didn't like it wasn't a father yet,
- 6:28Speaker 3: so I mean I didn't fully understand the extent of what.
- 6:32Speaker 4: He was saying, was your parents never yet didn't have
- 6:35Speaker 4: the bird and beast talk yet.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean I knew that, you know, I
- 6:38Speaker 3: went to evangaelmin, I went to Christian What are you
- 6:40Speaker 3: talking about? But like just the full power behind that statement,
- 6:45Speaker 3: like I really didn't know, Like.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Yeah, it hit harder than you thought.
- 6:49Speaker 3: When I say I wish your parents never met, that
- 6:50Speaker 3: means I wish you weren't born. I wish you weren't here,
- 6:53Speaker 3: ye not here, like at Lsu, I wish you weren't on.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Earth Earth, your soul was never created.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And he said it's so nonchalot And you know, I wish.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Your parents never met. I can't say it on every
- 7:07Speaker 4: Jim say that one.
- 7:09Speaker 6: He really had a good nickname for Skuyler, I probably should.
- 7:15Speaker 6: If I can't say it there, I probably shouldn't say it.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I shouldn't tease it.
- 7:18Speaker 3: He also, I'm not gonna say this one either, but
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know he wanted to face Jones to go home
- 7:25Speaker 3: one time during a period of time that something was
- 7:28Speaker 3: going on back home.
- 7:31Speaker 4: This is only funny to us, Sorry, people, this is
- 7:34Speaker 4: good radio.
- 7:35Speaker 3: It's funny to us. A member of the two thousand
- 7:38Speaker 3: and four l s U football team or five. I
- 7:42Speaker 3: think David was back in five. I don't really know.
- 7:44Speaker 6: I remember I saw in high school my head coach
- 7:48Speaker 6: was Jimbo kind of brought it up. He's a hard
- 7:50Speaker 6: nosed guy. Yeah, I love the Man of Death. Great guy,
- 7:53Speaker 6: but like playing for him, it was a different world,
- 7:55Speaker 6: right they I was prepared for saving because of my
- 7:58Speaker 6: high school head coach.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Maybe maybe you know part of the reason. Yeah, I
- 8:00Speaker 4: went up.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I came to a Christian school that wouldn't play secular
- 8:03Speaker 3: music during the pregame, so I was not but yes, continue.
- 8:09Speaker 4: So I look over its my coach.
- 8:12Speaker 6: I didn't start until my third game of my junior year,
- 8:15Speaker 6: so we had me and another age. We split series
- 8:19Speaker 6: and I took over in the second game. Hey, I
- 8:23Speaker 6: don't appreciate the laughter over there trials and tribulations of
- 8:28Speaker 6: my life.
- 8:28Speaker 4: That's right. I mean basically, so.
- 8:31Speaker 6: My my coach didn't like by the end of the season,
- 8:34Speaker 6: I don't think you really liked the accolades. I'd started
- 8:37Speaker 6: getting in like the heads. I was like the recruiting.
- 8:39Speaker 6: He didn't want to go to my head, what whatever.
- 8:41Speaker 6: So he you know, we're we're only throwing on third down.
- 8:44Speaker 6: That's just that was our offense, especially my junior year.
- 8:47Speaker 6: But every time we throw it, we get it and
- 8:49Speaker 6: it's like I sprint out half, spread out to the left,
- 8:51Speaker 6: hal spron out to the right like a one or
- 8:53Speaker 6: two receiver rout blah blah blah. Anyway, they kind of
- 8:56Speaker 6: knew by the last game they see we were playing
- 8:58Speaker 6: John Tyler, and so John Tyler back in the day,
- 9:00Speaker 6: they had these jerseys called they were the John Tyler Lions,
- 9:02Speaker 6: but they had these jerseys called Kujo. They were known
- 9:04Speaker 6: as Kujo in the night, and so they only would
- 9:07Speaker 6: wear their Kujo jerseys in the playoffs. They wear their
- 9:10Speaker 6: Lions jerseys the rest of the year. But this was
- 9:11Speaker 6: the last game of the season. They had three commitments
- 9:14Speaker 6: on defense to go to the play at University of Texas,
- 9:16Speaker 6: and they had to win this game to get in
- 9:18Speaker 6: the playoffs. Their offense was not very good, so they
- 9:22Speaker 6: brought out their Cujo jerseys for the crossown. I mean
- 9:24Speaker 6: there was probably fifteen thousand people and Tyler rose Ball
- 9:27Speaker 6: watching this game. It's on a Saturday afternoon too. It
- 9:31Speaker 6: wasn't even Friday. So we're playing probably pretty cold, and
- 9:34Speaker 6: so we're not moving the ball great because we can't
- 9:35Speaker 6: run it. And then our one receiver, you know, ten
- 9:39Speaker 6: yard out we'route wasn't working on third down, and so
- 9:42Speaker 6: I like threw one away and I'll look over to
- 9:44Speaker 6: my coach and he's looking at me and he's going
- 9:47Speaker 6: like this.
- 9:48Speaker 4: He around his neck and it's like, you're Joke good,
- 9:53Speaker 4: You're Joe good.
- 9:55Speaker 6: And he was committed to it, and the offensive line
- 9:57Speaker 6: coach started to get in the action. It went up
- 10:00Speaker 6: high and started patting him on his back to the
- 10:03Speaker 6: back him and I'm like, all right, well that's.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Me right, you're getting too many added boys.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I guess yeah, an office like I was just hitting
- 10:13Speaker 4: him on the back.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Oh, that's actually really good. The bit by hitting himself
- 10:16Speaker 3: on the backs really.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Oh, it's good. It's like they planned it. That's really good.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Got to get after this gay today.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Oh to tell you what kind of high school I
- 10:22Speaker 3: went to, very very very religious. Right, And so we're
- 10:27Speaker 3: playing against West Monroe in the state championship game, and
- 10:30Speaker 3: I mean we're crushing them, just beating the.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Hell out of them.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Well, the only points that they had had four points
- 10:38Speaker 3: because our deep snapper snapped it over the punter's head
- 10:40Speaker 3: twice and went out of the back of the end zone.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Safety.
- 10:43Speaker 3: It's like, dude, it's thirty something to four, right, and
- 10:47Speaker 3: it's funny. The deep snapper ended up being a really
- 10:49Speaker 3: good football player, played at Alabama. But the second time
- 10:55Speaker 3: after he did it, the coach is yelling, you need
- 11:00Speaker 3: to repent your sins.
- 11:03Speaker 4: You're paying for something.
- 11:05Speaker 8: Repent And we're like, what you think, because this man
- 11:09Speaker 8: may spend the time or two he needs to repent
- 11:11Speaker 8: in God's punishing him for putting the football through the
- 11:14Speaker 8: back of the end zone.
- 11:19Speaker 4: What are we doing here?
- 11:23Speaker 3: I will never forget the way he said repent over
- 11:26Speaker 3: and over and over again.
- 11:30Speaker 4: That's basically what it felt like.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Before we get out of this segment, do we have
- 11:36Speaker 3: the rail route ready to go. Okay, let's play this
- 11:39Speaker 3: with sound and let's play that never was. Let's see. Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 3: this is a play. It does not count in the
- 11:45Speaker 3: stat book. It counts in our hearts. And if we
- 11:48Speaker 3: would have actually had this stand, I think we beat Arkansas.
- 11:51Speaker 3: But you know what, that doesn't matter, you know why,
- 11:53Speaker 3: because we still won. We still want and we got
- 11:57Speaker 3: a great story to tell. We were undefeated in regulation.
- 11:59Speaker 3: But here's is the play that doesn't count.
- 12:01Speaker 4: This is Hester coming left play fake.
- 12:04Speaker 7: They look for Hester, they go date for Hester.
- 12:08Speaker 9: To the ten textown m s U.
- 12:20Speaker 4: The crowd was look at you, Oh, look at you?
- 12:24Speaker 6: Look at I did still go back a little bit.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Oh my brother, Early, I love you. I'm sorry that
- 12:33Speaker 4: bad language.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I had no idea that that was in the fourth quarter.
- 12:39Speaker 4: The game's over. If that thy game?
- 12:43Speaker 6: Can you pull? I? Can you still that where I
- 12:45Speaker 6: was looking at early? Run there not bad early?
- 12:48Speaker 4: You know you have right there?
- 12:49Speaker 3: You have j Cutler level body language, bad body language.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Had Jimbo practice body.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Like, Oh my gosh, I mean but just one step.
- 13:00Speaker 6: That So the last game of the season, like those
- 13:03Speaker 6: happened early on. All right, it's the heart.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't think about that place still eighteen years later,
- 13:12Speaker 3: eighteen years ago, by the way.
- 13:13Speaker 10: Bob, I don't believe that. That's not It's how math works,
- 13:20Speaker 10: all right. Eighteen years Oh look at the body, the
- 13:23Speaker 10: hands on the hip. Is that Karen Flynn?
- 13:26Speaker 4: Look at that. It's like, Karen Flynn, I mean, you
- 13:31Speaker 4: weres so let me speak to your manager, Alredy, come
- 13:34Speaker 4: see me.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Matt.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Matt still thinks about this. Is here a break? When
- 13:38Speaker 5: I was looking like where the play is, he goes, no, no,
- 13:40Speaker 5: you gotta flip it. We were going to the other end,
- 13:41Speaker 5: and yeah, we're going.
- 13:42Speaker 4: All I knew too. I could have told you.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I didn't know the fourth quarter, but I knew that
- 13:46Speaker 3: we were going towards the north end. I didn't know that, man.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I mean, there is some fire behind those sides.
- 13:53Speaker 6: I mean you can't tell because the coverage, apparently eighteen
- 13:57Speaker 6: years ago, was so pixelated. It looks like it was
- 14:02Speaker 6: a year after the earthquake game.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Shout up, if you play in the Earth game, great game.
- 14:11Speaker 4: We're sorry.
- 14:12Speaker 3: That was not a straight that was just trying to
- 14:14Speaker 3: create a timeline one before that one exactly forties exactly.
- 14:17Speaker 3: But it's okay. Again we lost that game. Sure will
- 14:20Speaker 3: we ever get back losing our last game in Tiger Stadium? No,
- 14:24Speaker 3: but we didn't win a Nattie.
- 14:25Speaker 4: So senior night.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Yeah, is not the only game we lost, No, no, no, no,
- 14:30Speaker 3: no no. I lost two, lost two in Tiger Stadium,
- 14:33Speaker 3: Tennessee on a Monday night when we were up twenty
- 14:35Speaker 3: one to nothing, and then this game the only two
- 14:37Speaker 3: we lost at home.
- 14:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 14:39Speaker 6: It also took away from me was being able to
- 14:42Speaker 6: play against and beat the hell out of the school
- 14:47Speaker 6: that I wanted to go to and didn't recruit me
- 14:49Speaker 6: the next week Tennessee, you didn't.
- 14:54Speaker 4: M all right, I actually want to hit that.
- 14:56Speaker 3: And we got Scott Tolzen, Saints quarterback coach joining us
- 14:59Speaker 3: in about fifteen minutes from now, so we still got
- 15:01Speaker 3: a lot coming your way.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Stay locked in here with us.
- 15:04Speaker 3: It is OTB off the bench, Matt.
- 15:07Speaker 4: What's better than one? Do sequis dose exactly one? You know?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Tailgating this weekend for the l Shoe game. Great time
- 15:21Speaker 3: by the pool. Maybe it doesn't matter. You can be versatile,
- 15:25Speaker 3: not a one trick pony here, just like dosequis is
- 15:27Speaker 3: in either us. While we got both right here on
- 15:29Speaker 3: the desk. Oh my god, it really is, man, it is.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It's heating up.
- 15:33Speaker 4: We all know that.
- 15:34Speaker 3: And if you're look, if you're cutting grass, if you're
- 15:36Speaker 3: by the pool, if you're right now listening to us
- 15:38Speaker 3: on the beach, because you're already on vacation, I'd argue
- 15:42Speaker 3: there's not a better time for a beer than a
- 15:44Speaker 3: beach beer. But no matter where you're at, little do
- 15:48Speaker 3: Sekis is always going to be the right answer.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Yeah, do set. I'm like, ever since I've been like
- 15:53Speaker 6: an adult, a post college adult, DOSECIS has been my beer.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Like that's not lib service. Go get you some cold limes,
- 16:00Speaker 6: cut him, put them right in the top right there.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Go for dose this weekend, Super Regions, baby, go for dose.
- 16:22Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown l s
- 16:25Speaker 1: U football like only champions can.
- 16:30Speaker 4: The space to in this town.
- 16:33Speaker 3: You mentioned getting h knocked out of the Arkansas game.
- 16:38Speaker 4: What was the actual injury? Shoulders?
- 16:40Speaker 6: A joint, friend, A c joint. I still got a
- 16:42Speaker 6: big deal, see it all right? Yes, we call it
- 16:47Speaker 6: a gift from the football gods. That's actually like ugly,
- 16:49Speaker 6: I said, the high ankles friend, I got to I
- 16:51Speaker 6: still have like a little.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Swollen puffiness on that side. That's, buddy, that's not gonna
- 16:55Speaker 4: gift from We looked. We heard that.
- 16:57Speaker 3: You had fat ankles in high school already.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Okay, yeah I didn't even put that together, but yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 4: we already heard that.
- 17:04Speaker 3: So you saying, you guys, man, it's fine fat ankles,
- 17:08Speaker 3: but you weren't in the Tennessee game. And man o man,
- 17:11Speaker 3: and shout out to you. Like, look, Ryan came in
- 17:12Speaker 3: and he certainly did some big things, and we put
- 17:15Speaker 3: in a lot of plays for that game because the
- 17:18Speaker 3: offense had to change. There was things Ryan couldn't do
- 17:21Speaker 3: that you did, and so we you know, we put
- 17:23Speaker 3: in some ISO runs. We put in speed option out
- 17:25Speaker 3: of the gun, like even like I was back there,
- 17:29Speaker 3: Like one of the big hits I had in that
- 17:30Speaker 3: game was from a speed option. So we were doing
- 17:32Speaker 3: things that were not conventional to what we had done
- 17:34Speaker 3: in the past.
- 17:35Speaker 4: But oh boy, I'll never forget.
- 17:37Speaker 3: He came into the huddle and that man caught a
- 17:39Speaker 3: play from I guess his high school days and where
- 17:41Speaker 3: he played high school is the East Saint John. I
- 17:44Speaker 3: think it's East Saint John right parallel. He caught a
- 17:47Speaker 3: play and me and Sean are in as like regular personnel.
- 17:49Speaker 3: We're like, oh huh, that doesn't exist. It's not in
- 17:52Speaker 3: our playbook. No, what are you doing? Because everybody's like
- 17:53Speaker 3: looking like, well what Sean is pretty funny At the fullback,
- 17:58Speaker 3: Sean says no, no, no, know, what what do you And
- 18:01Speaker 3: he's like, and Ryan into the play clocks.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Click, you know, click click click clicking. Sean's like, what
- 18:06Speaker 4: are we trying to run here?
- 18:07Speaker 3: And like Ryan kind of explains that Sean actually calls
- 18:09Speaker 3: the play in the huddle.
- 18:11Speaker 4: The full back.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Now Sean brilliant, I mean biology major and was going
- 18:16Speaker 3: to go be a doctor before He's like, no, I
- 18:18Speaker 3: want to go hit people in the face for for
- 18:20Speaker 3: a living and be a UFC heavyweight. But he had
- 18:22Speaker 3: to finish the play call and I do think though
- 18:25Speaker 3: that like that moment, Ryan did kind of like snap back, Okay,
- 18:30Speaker 3: let me it's a big environment.
- 18:31Speaker 4: I can be.
- 18:32Speaker 3: It's SEC championship game. His first was second start because
- 18:36Speaker 3: he started against middle Tennessee.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Some would say it's as nerve wracking as doing your
- 18:40Speaker 6: first live read no love wor there you go.
- 18:50Speaker 4: He gets it.
- 18:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I got Jonathan zen On.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Let's go shout out to show that was a fun game. Man,
- 18:59Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. It was not fun at all.
- 19:01Speaker 4: I hated it.
- 19:02Speaker 3: It was fun for me. We've put in a lot
- 19:04Speaker 3: of plays that week that were different, and the boys
- 19:08Speaker 3: and we played full disclosure, we played incredibly loose because
- 19:14Speaker 3: we didn't think we had a chance to get back
- 19:15Speaker 3: in it. So it was all like, hey, let's just
- 19:19Speaker 3: go out here and win the damn SEC.
- 19:21Speaker 4: And we knew we should win the game like we were.
- 19:24Speaker 3: But we were like, you know, it is what it is.
- 19:27Speaker 3: We blew our chance was that the.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Was that the Michigan Miles rumors.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And you and I were sitting there watching the TV
- 19:36Speaker 3: together and we're like, this is before, this is way
- 19:40Speaker 3: before Twitter. My space was the only place in Facebook
- 19:45Speaker 3: where you had social media.
- 19:46Speaker 4: But you weren't breaking news there.
- 19:48Speaker 3: You were just trying to get these songs up on
- 19:50Speaker 3: my Space and get your top friends list, going.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Friends with Tom.
- 19:54Speaker 3: You weren't breaking news. We're sitting there watching TV together
- 19:58Speaker 3: and it's like breaking news. Here comes less Miles going
- 20:01Speaker 3: to be the Michigan hit coach.
- 20:02Speaker 6: We're like, and it wasn't just breaking it was Kirk
- 20:05Speaker 6: Kirk Street yeah, on game day, on game day talking
- 20:07Speaker 6: about it, so it's like, well, I mean he's not
- 20:09Speaker 6: just spins.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Bye bye bye.
- 20:12Speaker 3: But if you'll remember this, you and I had a
- 20:15Speaker 3: conversation and I'll never forget it. We said, I don't
- 20:20Speaker 3: think it's true, because if it was, I think if
- 20:24Speaker 3: any players knew, you and I would know he would
- 20:27Speaker 3: have told us before it got out.
- 20:30Speaker 4: And we believe that. I don't know if that's true.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I don't know if that's just us.
- 20:33Speaker 4: You know, let us live our lives in our coach.
- 20:36Speaker 3: But we're like, if he would have done this, I
- 20:39Speaker 3: feel like he would have given us two a heads
- 20:40Speaker 3: up because we're I mean, we were close with coach, right,
- 20:43Speaker 3: we had you know, the unity council.
- 20:45Speaker 6: May I mean sometimes as coaching moves eight, things happened.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Things do happen fast.
- 20:50Speaker 6: I mean, it could have been like a phone called
- 20:53Speaker 6: at midnight the night before where they were like made
- 20:57Speaker 6: it an agreement in principle or something. I mean, where
- 20:59Speaker 6: there's there's fire, so like something was happening, there was
- 21:03Speaker 6: some conversations, or he wouldn't have come out and like
- 21:07Speaker 6: debunked it so emphatically. Really, I mean, you believe there
- 21:12Speaker 6: was some conversation, there was.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Something there was just didn't pull it out of me. No, no, no,
- 21:17Speaker 4: I mean Hervey's you know like this like the standard
- 21:20Speaker 4: of he's not in the business. He's not in the
- 21:22Speaker 4: business like breaking this either. No.
- 21:25Speaker 3: No, he had somebody that had really good information, but
- 21:28Speaker 3: it you know, it didn't get to the finish line,
- 21:29Speaker 3: which happens.
- 21:30Speaker 4: All the time, which we might have to think.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, true, it might have been going like
- 21:37Speaker 3: Marcus Freeman was almost a defensive coordinator at l s U, right,
- 21:41Speaker 3: and I remember I went on there.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I was like, look, this is not in the end zone.
- 21:44Speaker 4: It's like on the goal line.
- 21:46Speaker 3: And I would not say even though like people that
- 21:48Speaker 3: I was talking with said, no, it's.
- 21:50Speaker 4: In the end zone, like nope, no, no, no, no, it's
- 21:52Speaker 4: on the goal line.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Until like like there was like it was far down
- 21:55Speaker 3: the road, like there was there was things that were
- 21:57Speaker 3: ready to be pushed out there to social medi with
- 22:00Speaker 3: his graphic and his logo, but it didn't finish.
- 22:03Speaker 4: That happens. It happens all the time. Yep.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Yeah, looking back on that, you know, obviously he wasn't
- 22:10Speaker 6: gonna take the job if he knew we were gonna
- 22:13Speaker 6: be in the national championship, like he wouldn't have entertained it. Yeah,
- 22:16Speaker 6: and he might not have entertained we're speculating here, uh,
- 22:19Speaker 6: because like you said, even the players thought going in
- 22:21Speaker 6: we got no shot. I mean, we're we lost our shot.
- 22:24Speaker 6: We were number one. We've been like number one like
- 22:26Speaker 6: nine times this year, which we still and to this day,
- 22:31Speaker 6: I still think that was the craziest, most unpredictable year
- 22:35Speaker 6: in college football history because of so many people that
- 22:40Speaker 6: I don't remember how you can look at the list,
- 22:42Speaker 6: it's like eight different number ones, like twelve different numbers.
- 22:45Speaker 6: It was like a huge number of that that list,
- 22:48Speaker 6: that top ten list, just fluctuating YEP day in or weekend.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Week out.
- 22:52Speaker 6: But do you think, like if Kirk didn't come out,
- 22:56Speaker 6: we don't talk about that, If Kirk didn't come out
- 22:57Speaker 6: of game day and say it, does Miles have like
- 23:00Speaker 6: the incentive?
- 23:01Speaker 4: Yeah? Or does he keep it like close to it,
- 23:04Speaker 4: you know, close to his chest there and kind of
- 23:06Speaker 4: hold that information If there was information.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Could have changed that game day for sure. And if
- 23:11Speaker 3: we don't win that game, we certainly don't win a
- 23:13Speaker 3: national championship. And well, those things last forever. You know
- 23:16Speaker 3: what you still benefit from. That's fun to, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 3: take a trip down and speculate. But it doesn't matter
- 23:21Speaker 3: because we beat.
- 23:22Speaker 4: That ass that we did.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Certainly like Ohio State, like we could have played the
- 23:26Speaker 3: seventy two Dolphins. Wouldn't have mattered that day because y'all
- 23:28Speaker 3: let us back in. We're gonna find a way.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Don't let us don't let us in. Don't let the
- 23:33Speaker 4: kids get hot, kind of like lgu baseball.
- 23:38Speaker 3: That's not the same way I wanted to use. As
- 23:40Speaker 3: we go into seed. I tried, Yeah, great, hey we do.
- 23:43Speaker 6: We got Scott Tolzan coming on the show, Saints quarterback coach.
- 23:47Speaker 4: My guy, my old teammate and the absolute man. Great dude.
- 23:51Speaker 6: So introduce Scott Tolzan, the guy we got a bona
- 23:55Speaker 6: fide like quarterback competition right now. Introduce him to South
- 23:57Speaker 6: Louisiana Baton rouge area. Ye, so you get to hear
- 24:00Speaker 6: from him, meet him. Uh, he's not gonna tell us
- 24:03Speaker 6: like who's the quarterback's gonna be.
- 24:04Speaker 3: So I don't like, all right, you're running it, send
- 24:06Speaker 3: it to break, Yeah, get a break.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 24:11Speaker 3: That was no, No, you didn't, you did not go
- 24:15Speaker 3: to break all right, go to trash trash rangers dot com.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Trash rangers dot com. Twoto five three six three nine
- 24:22Speaker 3: zero five three is the number. Give me call, tell
- 24:26Speaker 3: them what you're looking for. Certainly, if you're trying to
- 24:28Speaker 3: get a dumpster delivered to your home, to your business, Hey,
- 24:31Speaker 3: here's what I've got. Maybe it's a kitchen remodel. Maybe
- 24:34Speaker 3: it's a bathroom remodel. Maybe you're doing like a whole
- 24:38Speaker 3: home renovation, so you're gonna need something certainly bigger. Well,
- 24:41Speaker 3: they got three sizes to choose from you. Let them
- 24:43Speaker 3: know what your project is, and again they're gonna be

- 24:57Speaker 6: Good people, hassle free, let them help. It doesn't matter
- 24:59Speaker 6: what you're doing. If you're cleaning out the attic, it's
- 25:01Speaker 6: been ten years since you've cleaned it out, if your
- 25:03Speaker 6: kids are older, not playing that you're cleaning, calling for
- 25:06Speaker 6: a rolloff dumpster, that's trash rangers dot Com two two five,
- 25:09Speaker 6: three six three nine zero five.
- 25:11Speaker 9: To three.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 25:39Speaker 3: To Jimson.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Good you think that's pretty good.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Welcome back off the bench, nine thirty hour. Here we
- 25:48Speaker 6: got a great guest right now, the new brand new
- 25:53Speaker 6: New Orleans Saints quarterback coach, my former teammate, way heck
- 25:57Speaker 6: of we Go.
- 25:57Speaker 3: I told you our former, our former team.
- 26:00Speaker 4: You can't even remember.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Trying to steal twenty eleven San Diego Chargers. You keep
- 26:03Speaker 3: trying to steal valor from.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Me over here anyway, Scott Tolzane, thanks for joining, buddy.
- 26:09Speaker 7: Was a long tenure on the Chargers there, Jacob, wasn't it.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Hey, it doesn't matter.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Hey, I remember the quickest cup of coffee I've had
- 26:16Speaker 7: in my life.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I know, Hey, but you did though, like a couple
- 26:19Speaker 3: of tutters and like over three hundred yards in the preseason.
- 26:23Speaker 7: A long time ago, you know. Always disappointing guys was
- 26:26Speaker 7: the I was expecting Pearl Jam to be the lead
- 26:28Speaker 7: in music, but.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Well they actually want I can't get them on board.
- 26:33Speaker 6: But Scott, so I wanted. I thought it'd be great
- 26:35Speaker 6: for you to come on this morning, because like the
- 26:39Speaker 6: Louisiana crowd, batanscount South Louisiana, all over Louisiana. Like we
- 26:42Speaker 6: want to introduce you to them, because I know you.
- 26:45Speaker 6: We we go back, great dude, But before we get
- 26:47Speaker 6: into that, we got an amazing one of the best
- 26:50Speaker 6: greatest quarterback highlights in NFL history.
- 26:53Speaker 4: I wanted to play for our viewers right now. Queue
- 26:56Speaker 4: it up, o.
- 27:00Speaker 11: Z ooh sweet bee. Oh, let's go. It's got the
- 27:10Speaker 11: spin move master, dud.
- 27:12Speaker 7: You know what the best part about that was, you'll
- 27:15Speaker 7: appreciate this, Mats. I don't know if you remember. You
- 27:18Speaker 7: remember how they had, like you know, like that whole
- 27:21Speaker 7: talent like comes together on Lambo on game day, right,
- 27:23Speaker 7: and like like the security people that have the yellow
- 27:27Speaker 7: jackets on and it's like people that have been grandpothered
- 27:29Speaker 7: in for like fifty years lambeau Field. So it's like
- 27:32Speaker 7: it's like a bunch of senior citizens that run like
- 27:35Speaker 7: a field security there. Sure, so like real, so I
- 27:39Speaker 7: always remember it. So I scored the touch on whatever,
- 27:41Speaker 7: and you're kind of just in Lahah Land and then
- 27:43Speaker 7: like Coon's like you gotta go a jump man, you
- 27:44Speaker 7: gotta do the leap whatever. You're like, oh, hell yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 7: let's let's do it. You know, so you trod over
- 27:49Speaker 7: the wall and this wall is like huge. You're like, oh,
- 27:52Speaker 7: oh crap, like totally underestimated this. So like I'm jumping
- 27:56Speaker 7: up there like I think it, Like this security person
- 28:00Speaker 7: starts coming over here, and I've literally got like this
- 28:02Speaker 7: eight year old grandpa like boosting me on the freaking wall.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Pushing you all time.
- 28:08Speaker 7: Moment you're like, you're like, oh my god, this just
- 28:10Speaker 7: went from really sweet to really awkward.
- 28:12Speaker 6: And you knew at that point, like the following week,
- 28:14Speaker 6: Aaron was going to have it on the highlight film
- 28:16Speaker 6: for the team.
- 28:16Speaker 4: As well, like the bad lambo Leap. So yeah, I
- 28:19Speaker 4: always always got it, but you know, like you get
- 28:21Speaker 4: to this, you get to this wall and you see
- 28:23Speaker 4: people think a foot wall. Geordy makes it look easy,
- 28:26Speaker 4: just hops in there like casually lands.
- 28:27Speaker 6: But you get there and you're like, oh boy, I
- 28:31Speaker 6: don't got it. I got yeah, I gotta leap. I
- 28:34Speaker 6: gotta leap again against the Vikings. Same game, No, not
- 28:37Speaker 6: the same game.
- 28:38Speaker 7: A couple of weeks same year, though, like one couple
- 28:41Speaker 7: of weeks later.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I want to say it might've been eleven. I've been
- 28:43Speaker 6: before that. Yeah, yeah, okay, pretty well. Uh So Scott
- 28:47Speaker 6: talk to us New Orleans saying, so, tell us how
- 28:50Speaker 6: how all this came about? So you started coaching when
- 28:52Speaker 6: you got done plays, You played seven years in the NFL.
- 28:54Speaker 7: Right played seven right place at the right time for
- 29:00Speaker 7: seven years. Basically a lot of good people or whatever.
- 29:02Speaker 7: And then long story short is I was I did
- 29:07Speaker 7: a gig at Wisconsin as an analyst. So my offensive
- 29:11Speaker 7: ordinary quarterback coach was Paul Christ and then he ended
- 29:15Speaker 7: up me coming the head coach of Wisconsin. So I
- 29:17Speaker 7: was like, hey, thinking about this coaching thing, you got
- 29:20Speaker 7: any advice for me? And he's like, well, I could
- 29:22Speaker 7: ever interest you. Like there's I got an analyst job
- 29:26Speaker 7: where you kind of get your feet wet part time.
- 29:28Speaker 7: I was like, hell, yeah, that's perfect. So I did
- 29:31Speaker 7: that for a year. I'd always stayed in touch with
- 29:33Speaker 7: coach McCarthy from the playing days, stayed in touch with him,
- 29:37Speaker 7: and then when he got the Dallas job, he hit
- 29:39Speaker 7: me up and was like, hey, you know, like pretty
- 29:42Speaker 7: much all my spots are filled, but I do got
- 29:44Speaker 7: one like quality control slash like ops job. If you
- 29:49Speaker 7: want to get your foot in the door at this
- 29:51Speaker 7: if I was like, hell yeah, Like we had just
- 29:52Speaker 7: had our first daughter, so we were getting ready to
- 29:56Speaker 7: get a house, so the timing was perfect. So we
- 29:58Speaker 7: went down there in twenty twenty. And like the crazy
- 30:01Speaker 7: part about that is like I take this job and
- 30:04Speaker 7: you're doing like op stuff like helping out with practice
- 30:06Speaker 7: schedule stuff I'd never done, Like you're on Excel multiple
- 30:10Speaker 7: hours a day, and then this crazy thing called COVID
- 30:13Speaker 7: comes along and you're like, oh great, Like, not only
- 30:16Speaker 7: is it first year doing operations stuff, they have no
- 30:18Speaker 7: clue what I'm doing. Now you've got like memos coming
- 30:22Speaker 7: into the league on the hour, like tweaking rules. So
- 30:26Speaker 7: needless to say, that year was that. That year was hell,
- 30:30Speaker 7: but you also grow a lot from it. That was
- 30:31Speaker 7: back in twenty twenty and now I'm first year with
- 30:34Speaker 7: the Saints, so you're six of coaching.
- 30:36Speaker 4: And when you got to Dallas.
- 30:39Speaker 6: Well, first of all, when you took the job in
- 30:40Speaker 6: Dallas with Mike McCarthy, if I was shocked zero percent.
- 30:44Speaker 6: Always knew that you, like you had that work. I
- 30:46Speaker 6: think that mindset of like you love dice, you know,
- 30:49Speaker 6: breaking down the game, you love the film room, you
- 30:51Speaker 6: loved everything about it so like, it didn't surprise me
- 30:53Speaker 6: at all that year went into coaching. I was like, well,
- 30:56Speaker 6: this dude's going to be this guy's going to be
- 30:58Speaker 6: end up being a really, really great coach.
- 31:00Speaker 4: And then when you went.
- 31:01Speaker 6: Down to Dallas, I believe Kellen Moore was already there,
- 31:04Speaker 6: is that right, yep?
- 31:05Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly. So Kellen's a year younger than me. Obviously
- 31:09Speaker 7: we knew each other just from the college football circuit
- 31:12Speaker 7: or whatever, but was crossed over with Kellen for my
- 31:16Speaker 7: first three years and actually Doug nus Meyer as well.
- 31:19Speaker 7: So was with those three guys for three years in Dallas.
- 31:22Speaker 7: And then when Kellen got the job here, he offered
- 31:26Speaker 7: to me we'd obviously stayed in touch. We have a
- 31:29Speaker 7: lot in common just age where we are in life
- 31:32Speaker 7: with families and football and whatnot. So yeah, so we
- 31:36Speaker 7: reunited with him and nuts and it's been a really
- 31:40Speaker 7: good thing so far. I mean, it's the honeymoon phase.
- 31:42Speaker 7: That's how this thing works right now. So everything's sweet
- 31:44Speaker 7: right now. We haven't lost where we go, that's all right.
- 31:48Speaker 3: You know, Scott, in your playing days, you had a
- 31:50Speaker 3: chance to really be around some all time quarterbacks and
- 31:54Speaker 3: you start your career with Philip Rivers there in San Diego,
- 31:57Speaker 3: and then you go Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers and
- 32:00Speaker 3: you know, Flynn's obviously there with you in Green Bay,
- 32:03Speaker 3: and then you get to Indy and Andrew Lux there.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Like when you're around guys like that, is there things
- 32:08Speaker 3: that you picked up that when you became a quarterback coach,
- 32:11Speaker 3: when you became a leader of that room, like you
- 32:13Speaker 3: kind of implement some of those things that you learned
- 32:15Speaker 3: from being around some of the best quarterbacks.
- 32:18Speaker 7: Dude, you brought up a great but I think about
- 32:20Speaker 7: that all the time, and like that's one tangible thing
- 32:23Speaker 7: I try to share with my quarterbacks. Like, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 7: I was lucky to play seven years, but you know
- 32:29Speaker 7: it didn't play a whole lot. Did way more standing
- 32:31Speaker 7: on the sidelines than playing. So but like what I
- 32:34Speaker 7: do do is, like, man, one thing I am good
- 32:36Speaker 7: at is I'm really good at observing. So I got
- 32:38Speaker 7: to observe. Like you said, like two hall of famers.
- 32:42Speaker 7: You know, Luck was on the fast track potentially be
- 32:45Speaker 7: a Hall of Famer, Like I was gifted this opportunity
- 32:48Speaker 7: to be around a lot of really good football players
- 32:50Speaker 7: and Dak as well as the MVP runner up two
- 32:52Speaker 7: years ago. So like you get to see a lot
- 32:55Speaker 7: of these different styles and like you see what's similar
- 32:59Speaker 7: and what's diff between the guys, and that's super valuable
- 33:03Speaker 7: to draw and and like share those experience with the gause.
- 33:05Speaker 7: I think there's a natural draw when you're a young
- 33:09Speaker 7: quarterback to like, oh, how does how did the great
- 33:11Speaker 7: like how did Aaron Rodgers do things? And it's it's
- 33:14Speaker 7: fun to be able to share some of the things
- 33:16Speaker 7: that you observed about how they were and like, speaking
- 33:20Speaker 7: to that point, that was one thing when I saw
- 33:23Speaker 7: I had my first two years was in San Francisco.
- 33:27Speaker 7: My rookie year was the same rookie year as Colin Kaepernick.
- 33:29Speaker 7: They drafted him in the second round, so they were Dad,
- 33:32Speaker 7: Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick and then I was the
- 33:35Speaker 7: undrafted guy after I got cut in San Diego and
- 33:39Speaker 7: then uh so we go to the Super Bowl the
- 33:41Speaker 7: second year and then I get cut go to Green Bay,
- 33:45Speaker 7: and like, the one thing I learned from Matt and Aaron,
- 33:49Speaker 7: I was going to share this, like just because it
- 33:51Speaker 7: was it was huge for my careers, Like you can
- 33:54Speaker 7: still have fun and joke around playing the game and
- 33:57Speaker 7: still be productive. Sometimes there's a stigma when you're a quarterback.
- 34:01Speaker 7: You know, you got to be serious all the time
- 34:03Speaker 7: and like you're the captain of the ship, and you are,
- 34:06Speaker 7: but you can still have a great time doing it
- 34:08Speaker 7: and like feel like I played the best football in
- 34:11Speaker 7: my career there because I was loose and having fun
- 34:14Speaker 7: and enjoying it.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's.
- 34:16Speaker 6: One stigma that that gets put on the quarterback position.
- 34:19Speaker 6: You've got to be serious, first one in, first one out,
- 34:21Speaker 6: which which is all true. You have to be able
- 34:22Speaker 6: to like turn it on and off.
- 34:24Speaker 4: You got to be relatable, your team got to be.
- 34:26Speaker 6: I mean, I was around so many greats, just like
- 34:28Speaker 6: just like Scott's talking about, and there's no one way
- 34:30Speaker 6: to skin a cat. There's Graates that did it that way.
- 34:32Speaker 6: There's greats that greats that didn't. But Scott, you you
- 34:34Speaker 6: bring up like such a good valuable point from like
- 34:37Speaker 6: a backup perspective, because you have to be able to
- 34:40Speaker 6: observe because you don't get the reps.
- 34:42Speaker 4: So if you.
- 34:43Speaker 6: Can't observe and apply what you're seeing the great ones
- 34:46Speaker 6: do or the person in front of you do, you
- 34:48Speaker 6: don't have a chance to make it of course you
- 34:49Speaker 6: had a seven year NFL career, so you were really
- 34:52Speaker 6: good at doing that and being able to implement and
- 34:54Speaker 6: taking taking advantage of your spot. So from that, from
- 34:58Speaker 6: your observation, being able to observe, apply, I got to
- 35:01Speaker 6: think it helps you from the coaching level because you
- 35:03Speaker 6: get to observe and you're applying it in like a
- 35:07Speaker 6: teaching way now, So you're observing like what makes people good,
- 35:10Speaker 6: what works the footwork, the tone of voice, what we're doing,
- 35:13Speaker 6: like those are all things you had to do to
- 35:16Speaker 6: maintain a job in the NFL. But now you get
- 35:18Speaker 6: to do it and teach and be relatable to players.
- 35:20Speaker 6: So I guess what is your like if you had
- 35:24Speaker 6: to pick like one thing that you are when your quarterbacks,
- 35:28Speaker 6: you know, talk about Scott Tolzy, Like, what is one
- 35:31Speaker 6: thing that you like to implement with them or put
- 35:34Speaker 6: on them and give them something to teach every single day.
- 35:38Speaker 7: That's a great question, first of all. And I think
- 35:42Speaker 7: like one thing that there's a feel to this position, right,
- 35:46Speaker 7: it's the most interesting position in all of sports, all
- 35:48Speaker 7: the main for sports. Like I'm no different I do
- 35:52Speaker 7: draft eveils than guys too, and it's just a total
- 35:56Speaker 7: inexact science on which guys pan out and which guys
- 35:59Speaker 7: do do and don't. But so, like I think there
- 36:03Speaker 7: is an element of I think it helps having play
- 36:06Speaker 7: the position, just knowing okay, what's what's not enough coaching
- 36:11Speaker 7: and what's over coaching. Like there's totally a balance there,
- 36:14Speaker 7: as you can't be a robot playing the position, but
- 36:16Speaker 7: yet there is a discipline to the position that that
- 36:19Speaker 7: needs to be adhered to, and like I do believe
- 36:23Speaker 7: in like having discipline. Footwork, Like that's a big thing
- 36:27Speaker 7: for me, and some of it comes to because that's
- 36:29Speaker 7: how I had to play the game, So there's a
- 36:31Speaker 7: natural bias there, Like I didn't have the biggest arms,
- 36:33Speaker 7: so you had to be right with your feet so
- 36:35Speaker 7: that things syncd up on time. I think that's probably
- 36:41Speaker 7: one of the things I'm a little bit of a
- 36:43Speaker 7: stickler on is footwork. But yet you know there's a like,
- 36:47Speaker 7: as you know, Matt, like, there's feels to you know,
- 36:50Speaker 7: how how you throw a twenty yard dig versus how
- 36:53Speaker 7: I throw a twenty yard dig, Like, there's there is
- 36:55Speaker 7: variation in your feet and so you've got to be
- 36:57Speaker 7: able to work with your quarterbacks too and allow for
- 37:01Speaker 7: that variation. But you know, those are some of the
- 37:03Speaker 7: things like hey, you know, quarterback being it like you
- 37:07Speaker 7: can kind of weed out the bs in a meeting
- 37:09Speaker 7: room when they're like, hey, I didn't see this guy. Well,
- 37:12Speaker 7: sometimes that is real, Like the fans from the sky
- 37:14Speaker 7: or from the TV camera might see a shallow cross
- 37:17Speaker 7: running wide open, but they didn't realize that like the
- 37:20Speaker 7: three technique over set and was getting edged and the
- 37:23Speaker 7: quarterback really didn't have vision to him for that split
- 37:26Speaker 7: second that he was going through his regression. And I
- 37:28Speaker 7: think that's all relevant stuff, Scott.
- 37:31Speaker 3: One of the things that you know, we've talked about
- 37:33Speaker 3: with the quarterback room that you're going to be leading there,
- 37:36Speaker 3: you know, it's obviously a young quarterback room. You got
- 37:37Speaker 3: a rookie and you got a second year player, you
- 37:39Speaker 3: got a third year player. You know, you don't have
- 37:41Speaker 3: like a ten year player in there, which you know
- 37:44Speaker 3: most of us when we've been in these rooms with quarterbacks,
- 37:47Speaker 3: there's always like one, you know, one older guy.
- 37:49Speaker 4: So like when you have a younger room like that,
- 37:51Speaker 4: do you change.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Anything that you go about like in a day to
- 37:54Speaker 3: day like is there anything that's different? You know, you
- 37:56Speaker 3: just came where you were coaching Dak Prescott and dark.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Now you look up and he's certainly a veteran in
- 38:01Speaker 3: the NFL. Anything different when you got a young quarterback.
- 38:03Speaker 7: Room, I think you do teach the one oh one
- 38:08Speaker 7: level first, and that's not a bad thing, you know.
- 38:11Speaker 7: Like the worst thing in this game is when things
- 38:13Speaker 7: are assumed. You know the old adage assume makes an
- 38:16Speaker 7: ask out of you and me, And I do think
- 38:18Speaker 7: there's truth to that. So if anything, like you just
- 38:22Speaker 7: teaching stuff though one on one levels, just nothing's assumed.
- 38:25Speaker 7: And then it also it goes hand in hand with
- 38:27Speaker 7: the fact that we're first year operations, so like I'm
- 38:32Speaker 7: learning stuff too on the fly, right, So I tell
- 38:33Speaker 7: the quarterbacks all the time, like the best thing we
- 38:35Speaker 7: can do is all have dialogue. There's nothing worse than
- 38:37Speaker 7: a quiet room, because I really feel like there are
- 38:40Speaker 7: no dumb questions, Like the question that you might have
- 38:43Speaker 7: actually might be a question that I have as a coach,
- 38:45Speaker 7: you know, And the best questions always come through the quarterbacks. Anyways,
- 38:49Speaker 7: Like when you're in a staff meeting, there's stuff that
- 38:52Speaker 7: you don't think about until a quarterback mentions in. It's like,
- 38:55Speaker 7: oh yeah, Like you know, let's find an answer or
- 38:58Speaker 7: maybe there is a simple way to do this thing.
- 39:01Speaker 7: And so I'm just like one on one level, but
- 39:04Speaker 7: let's have dialogue and let's mold this thing how we
- 39:07Speaker 7: want to.
- 39:09Speaker 6: Ah, right, Scott, we actually have like a real bona
- 39:13Speaker 6: fide like QB competition happened. So I really just kind
- 39:17Speaker 6: of want you to break down like the player, how
- 39:19Speaker 6: they've responded to OTA is getting ready for any camp
- 39:22Speaker 6: next week? I uh, I don't want to ask you
- 39:24Speaker 6: about like the competition and where they're at on anything,
- 39:27Speaker 6: but like, just tell me about the you got the
- 39:29Speaker 6: young guys shut just got drafted. Rattler coming off of
- 39:32Speaker 6: you know, a year where he played a lot, had
- 39:34Speaker 6: some you know, unfair you know, disadvantages that he dealt
- 39:37Speaker 6: with during that, but showed some moments like how are
- 39:39Speaker 6: those guys responding to this competition and kind of like
- 39:42Speaker 6: what's their what's their rotation? Like any quarterback competitions could
- 39:45Speaker 6: be so different from team to team and the head
- 39:47Speaker 6: coach's philosophy, Like.
- 39:49Speaker 7: Sure, these guys, they've all been awesome to start, really
- 39:53Speaker 7: appreciated their approach and just who they are as teammates
- 39:56Speaker 7: has been really natural so and then and at the
- 40:00Speaker 7: same time, like, you know, we don't have the paths
- 40:02Speaker 7: on right now, so you know, we're like if you
- 40:06Speaker 7: just know everything, everything changes when that comes out. So
- 40:08Speaker 7: like you're quick to be like, hey, let's not overanalyze
- 40:13Speaker 7: things right now, you know, let's just let's truly develop guys.
- 40:18Speaker 7: You know, I think that's where we're at right now.
- 40:21Speaker 7: And and I love that part about it, Like let's
- 40:23Speaker 7: just develop guys, and let's not get caught up in,
- 40:25Speaker 7: you know, the competition of it. Let's let's just put
- 40:29Speaker 7: our best foot forward, coach into our best ability and
- 40:33Speaker 7: let things marinate, you know, rather than making abrupt, impulsive decisions.
- 40:38Speaker 7: But like they've all handled it like champs and been
- 40:41Speaker 7: a really fun group to be around, and I've appreciated
- 40:44Speaker 7: it from them.
- 40:44Speaker 6: Yeah, And the development part is it can be challenging.
- 40:47Speaker 6: It can be true. I mean, it's a numbers game
- 40:49Speaker 6: too when you're trying to develop and actually have some
- 40:51Speaker 6: sort of competition of young quarterbacks because I you know,
- 40:55Speaker 6: you only get so many reps in practice. So that
- 40:57Speaker 6: way a coaching staff can handle that from a development
- 41:00Speaker 6: standpoint is tricky. And there's not like one way to
- 41:03Speaker 6: skin that cat either.
- 41:05Speaker 7: You know, were you a part of uh, Like I know,
- 41:07Speaker 7: the coach Carty always just talk about quarterback school and
- 41:10Speaker 7: like like that was a foreign concept to us because
- 41:13Speaker 7: like I was been part of the new CBA and
- 41:16Speaker 7: it's like it's totally changed the development of the league.
- 41:19Speaker 7: But like I've heard stories.
- 41:20Speaker 4: About three QB schools.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Yeah, that's that's what. When was that back?
- 41:24Speaker 6: And like Mark, Yeah, so it was, Yeah, it was
- 41:27Speaker 6: off season right before i OTA started.
- 41:29Speaker 4: It was it was it was tough.
- 41:30Speaker 6: It was a tough workout like when I trained quarterbacks
- 41:33Speaker 6: every now and then, like I put him through what
- 41:35Speaker 6: that QB school used to be, which is which is awesome.
- 41:39Speaker 6: But yeah, hey Scott, we really do man, We really
- 41:42Speaker 6: appreciate your time. We know your busy, especially this time Louisiana.
- 41:46Speaker 6: We got a good one here, We got a good
- 41:47Speaker 6: coach of staff, a lot to be excited about.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Scott. Thank you for your time, buddy.
- 41:51Speaker 7: Appreciate you guys having me.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Yeah, appreciate it. Scott Tolzy and good enough to join
- 41:55Speaker 3: us here on OTV. That was a lot of fun, man,
- 41:57Speaker 3: And uh, you know I knew from a short period
- 42:00Speaker 3: time knowing him being his teammate. Man, he was going
- 42:01Speaker 3: to do big things. You're right, like one of those
- 42:03Speaker 3: guys like, yep, you're gonna be a coach. You're that
- 42:06Speaker 3: is what you were brought here for. Damn good, right,
- 42:09Speaker 3: and so man, Saints fans should be very excited. You
- 42:11Speaker 3: could tell like in his answers, you know how in
- 42:14Speaker 3: depth and what it's going to look like. And I
- 42:16Speaker 3: think the right guy is going to win the job,
- 42:18Speaker 3: whoever that might be. So, yeah, certainly appreciate his time. Yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 3: that was great, good job, Bud. But getting him on
- 42:27Speaker 3: the show, it was you. Yeah, I mean you got
- 42:32Speaker 3: him on the show. Look at you, I mean leading interviews.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Well done, sir. All right, let's take our last break
- 42:37Speaker 3: up the week. We'll ask the bench when we come

- 43:09Speaker 3: for just eight ninety nine. And let's be honest, bacon
- 43:13Speaker 3: makes everything better. And like I told you yesterday, King
- 43:16Speaker 3: Curtis would approve of that message.
- 43:18Speaker 6: King Curtis, Yep, Ralph's biking is good for me. Ralse's
- 43:23Speaker 6: Market everybody, we got one right next to us. Rowse's
- 43:27Speaker 6: are everywhere. They're great here in Louisiana. We love them.

- 43:34Speaker 6: Got my high. They're running specials all the time. Got

- 44:25Speaker 3: I knew you knew it was an easy one.

- 45:03Speaker 4: Baby smells like pooh, this is the playlist? Hey, oh
- 45:09Speaker 4: for sure ask the bench.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Who was that one teammate at LSU that you knew
- 45:15Speaker 3: had your back when things went down? Sean Jordan's Sean Jordan.
- 45:20Speaker 3: I could call Sean right now like, Hey, there's somebody
- 45:23Speaker 3: up at this studio that's acting crazy. I'm gonna need
- 45:25Speaker 3: you either. He would get here a s a p guy. Will,
- 45:30Speaker 3: Will's another one and those two together when they got
- 45:33Speaker 3: when Will and Sean like get together, don't be somebody.
- 45:37Speaker 4: That makes them mad.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Don't do something stupid, especially if we had a couple
- 45:40Speaker 3: of cold pops.
- 45:42Speaker 4: That's all he is.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Sean Jordan to pre UFC three eighteen next month.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Okay, oh yeah, I'll have se Sean.
