- 0:04What's up, everyone?
- 0:05Welcome to Saturday, Saturday,
- 0:09Saturday Night CrossFit Talk,
- 0:11only WFP style.
- 0:16We are done with day two.
- 0:20It was a very different day than day
- 0:22one, I want to say.
- 0:25Yeah, kind of.
- 0:27I mean... But what I found...
- 0:31So it got up to, for me,
- 0:33it got up.
- 0:36Anytime you have a long run,
- 0:37it's going to be a slow start.
- 0:39It's hard to watch and I don't really
- 0:42care about running.
- 0:43Right.
- 0:45But you actually did the ten K. Yeah.
- 0:50The exact track that the athletes did.
- 0:53Yep.
- 0:53Right after the, literally right after,
- 0:55I think Dana was the last woman in.
- 0:58She crossed the finish line,
- 0:59and they were like, all right, and go.
- 1:01And they, like,
- 1:02pulled us up to the start line and
- 1:03we went.
- 1:03And what was the course like?
- 1:07It was fairly flat.
- 1:08There was, like,
- 1:09a couple little incline declines,
- 1:12but it was fairly flat.
- 1:14Kind of like a big loop out,
- 1:18and then you hit a turnaround and came
- 1:20back.
- 1:22Not the same way you went out,
- 1:23so you, like, cut in.
- 1:25And so then there was a five.
- 1:26You could stop at the five K.
- 1:28I don't know if the teams were going
- 1:30five K distance.
- 1:33Yeah.
- 1:33I don't know either.
- 1:34I didn't run.
- 1:35Yeah.
- 1:36So you could have five K or you
- 1:38stayed to the left and did another loop.
- 1:40So it was,
- 1:41and it was six point two one.
- 1:44So actually it actually long by point Oh
- 1:48one.
- 1:48I mean, it was basically perfect.
- 1:50Probably could have cut the tangents maybe
- 1:52a little more here and there and made
- 1:54it six point two.
- 1:54Exactly.
- 1:55So, yeah, you didn't have a,
- 1:58They wheeled it off correctly.
- 2:01The complex that this is at is a
- 2:04major sports complex.
- 2:05This is the indoor area with the main
- 2:08floor is where the Indianapolis Colts
- 2:11practice.
- 2:12Okay.
- 2:13They also have the Pacers headquarters and
- 2:16training facility on the grounds.
- 2:19And there's tons of softball, soccer,
- 2:22tennis.
- 2:24Yeah.
- 2:25Soccer was going on while we were running
- 2:26by.
- 2:27Like you could hear like someone like got
- 2:28a goal or something and there was some
- 2:31cheering going on.
- 2:32And I was like,
- 2:32that's definitely not for us.
- 2:33Cause it was just like four random
- 2:37spectators running.
- 2:38Yeah.
- 2:39Yeah.
- 2:41there's a ton of fields i know my
- 2:42nephew like comes out here for baseball
- 2:44there are so many baseball fields it's
- 2:46crazy yeah so the track or the route
- 2:50was all all through that yeah yep so
- 2:55um we're going to talk about the injuries
- 2:56in a second right now we're just kind
- 2:58of recapping the day so then we went
- 3:00from the run then we went into the
- 3:04bench press
- 3:06And my opinion of this isn't what I
- 3:09thought it would be.
- 3:09I thought I'd be really excited to watch
- 3:11bench press.
- 3:13There was so much interference on the
- 3:17field of play that it was really hard
- 3:21to see any of the lifts.
- 3:24Because each bench had two spotters,
- 3:28a judge...
- 3:30And then there was medical and extra
- 3:33spotters around everywhere.
- 3:36That doesn't even include the eighteen
- 3:39media all trying to get a picture of
- 3:41the exact same person.
- 3:45At eighteen different angles, apparently.
- 3:48It was a busy floor during the bench.
- 3:50That is exactly right, KDL.
- 3:52Yeah, it was.
- 3:54I stopped taking pictures.
- 3:56There was no way to get anything.
- 3:58Yeah, we went and sat down.
- 3:59Okay, we're just going to watch this one.
- 4:01Ishmael said he almost gave up just
- 4:03because you just couldn't get anything.
- 4:08And so it made it hard to watch
- 4:10in the arena for that because the floor
- 4:13was so busy.
- 4:14Most of the time I found myself watching
- 4:16the broadcast on the Jumbotron.
- 4:20But there were some really cool lifts.
- 4:22It was cool to see Pat Felner back
- 4:24out to finish his career,
- 4:26at least active on the floor.
- 4:31That was cool.
- 4:32But then we moved into what I thought
- 4:34was a pretty exciting event.
- 4:36I don't think people thought it was going
- 4:39to do the damage that it did.
- 4:42I did.
- 4:43When I saw this workout, I was like,
- 4:44this is nasty.
- 4:45But chest-to-bar paired with squats,
- 4:49especially a sandbag, is just, I mean,
- 4:55that's awful.
- 4:56That's an awful pairing.
- 4:59And that sled was not easy to push.
- 5:02I thought it was going to be a
- 5:03sandbag squat workout.
- 5:05And it was not.
- 5:06It was at all sled.
- 5:08If you could figure out the sled,
- 5:11if you had the right shoe attire on,
- 5:14you were going to do well.
- 5:15Yep.
- 5:16Shoes mattered for sure.
- 5:18And how low you were willing to get
- 5:19on the sled.
- 5:26People were so gassed.
- 5:29they just could not continue on.
- 5:32They would just stand there and look at
- 5:33the sled.
- 5:34Yeah.
- 5:37Yeah.
- 5:38We'll get into that in a second as
- 5:40we kind of look at the results and
- 5:41everything,
- 5:41but that's kind of the overview of the
- 5:43day.
- 5:44Again, it's a great feel there.
- 5:46Like I,
- 5:47I feel like it's much more enjoyable and
- 5:52it's different than the games.
- 5:54Like
- 5:55It still feels like a big event that
- 5:58I'm really excited and people are fighting
- 6:00for points.
- 6:02And once you understand that the points
- 6:05are for the season,
- 6:06they're not for this weekend.
- 6:08Like it's really about stacking good
- 6:10events.
- 6:12If you have a bad event,
- 6:13so be it.
- 6:14You just need to hit the next one
- 6:16to get some points on that overall
- 6:18leaderboard to get you to the finals.
- 6:22And so you have a shot at the
- 6:24finals.
- 6:24Right.
- 6:25Because only thirty athletes go to the
- 6:28finals.
- 6:31And really there,
- 6:32if you take all twenty signed pros,
- 6:35there's only ten spots available.
- 6:37Right.
- 6:40And I think that's one of the reasons
- 6:42you see the injuries.
- 6:43I do too.
- 6:44People are fighting to get a paid
- 6:47contract.
- 6:49And just a payment.
- 6:50I think they pay the pay in like
- 6:52forty deep.
- 6:52Aren't they even here?
- 6:54Yeah.
- 6:54So like, yeah, like places matter.
- 7:00There's money on the line here.
- 7:02I feel like at the games after like,
- 7:04after like tenth,
- 7:04you basically get no money.
- 7:05So if you're not top ten,
- 7:09it kind of is what it is.
- 7:12Yeah.
- 7:13Yeah.
- 7:13Honestly,
- 7:15this pays way further down in the games.
- 7:18Yeah.
- 7:20Like way further down.
- 7:21So even the people in the,
- 7:23in the back heats are really putting forth
- 7:26effort and they are messing up the
- 7:28leaderboard a lot.
- 7:35I'm reading the comments.
- 7:35So there's a lot going on here.
- 7:38I want to say a lot of heats.
- 7:40Yes.
- 7:40There's a lot of heat.
- 7:42I don't find that when I'm,
- 7:44when I'm here watching it,
- 7:45it doesn't feel like it.
- 7:48Because like I said,
- 7:49even the bottom heats are working their
- 7:52ass off to move up the leaderboard.
- 7:55And if they can put,
- 7:56if you get a top three finish,
- 7:59you jet up the season leaderboard.
- 8:04Right.
- 8:05Like it is crazy.
- 8:10Katie says the day went by quick.
- 8:12I felt it did.
- 8:13Three events and it went by really quick.
- 8:18He also says a lot of non-Americans in
- 8:21the challengers this year.
- 8:22I've noticed that a little bit.
- 8:24But it is called the World Fitness
- 8:27Project.
- 8:29And I think it's okay to be an
- 8:31international event and competition.
- 8:35Two of the three events are overseas.
- 8:38I think that's a big part of it.
- 8:41Once, once you had London,
- 8:42what it was supposed to be Mexico.
- 8:43Right.
- 8:43And then they moved to London,
- 8:44but like you already knew it was gonna
- 8:46be international.
- 8:47And so I feel like some Americans kind
- 8:50of were like, I'm,
- 8:51I'm not messing with that.
- 8:52It's too much travel.
- 8:55And so the Europeans jump right in.
- 8:58But it's not like these,
- 9:00these people are not good.
- 9:02Oh, they're incredible.
- 9:04Yeah.
- 9:04Like those Kriber girls are kicking ass.
- 9:08Yep.
- 9:10All of them.
- 9:14And, uh,
- 9:16they're just all killing it on dress over
- 9:20getting the do she deserves.
- 9:23She's one of the fittest women that's been
- 9:24around and her,
- 9:26her game just doesn't play in the game
- 9:29season because she has a whole here.
- 9:34She's in third place for the weekend.
- 9:36She's in the top five for the season.
- 9:39And when you have this many events for
- 9:42the season total,
- 9:44you are getting a more complete test than
- 9:47you are during the game season.
- 9:50I agree.
- 9:52Every time I watch Soul Bear take the
- 9:54floor, I'm in awe of her.
- 9:59She's so fit.
- 10:01I enjoy watching her.
- 10:03And she usually has, she always, I mean,
- 10:05she has those home runs.
- 10:06We know she's incredible on her hands,
- 10:08but...
- 10:10The sandbag workout crushed it.
- 10:12She crushed it.
- 10:15And if you're looking at international
- 10:18people that are underrated,
- 10:20Emma Tall is a savage.
- 10:24There were workouts that before they even
- 10:27started,
- 10:27you knew Emma Tall was going to go.
- 10:30Like that was her event.
- 10:31I don't know if I think Emma Tall
- 10:33is underrated.
- 10:35I think the problem is she's been injured
- 10:39for two or three years.
- 10:40Her shoulder's been,
- 10:42she's had issues that rolled the last two
- 10:44years.
- 10:46I don't think she's underrated.
- 10:47I just think she's been injured.
- 10:51Just because Bruce says it doesn't make it
- 10:52through.
- 10:54Thanks for agreeing.
- 10:57I do think she's underrated.
- 11:00She didn't say she's underrated.
- 11:02She said that she's had injuries.
- 11:04You guys didn't think that we were
- 11:06fighting enough last night.
- 11:08Today has been awful.
- 11:09Thank you, Vicki.
- 11:12Yeah.
- 11:12Scott's been in a mood.
- 11:14He didn't get enough food today.
- 11:18Jamie will not,
- 11:19will not relent on any argument.
- 11:24So let's point out, in the last event,
- 11:26Jamie swore lane five was a sticky lane.
- 11:30It was sticky.
- 11:31It was not.
- 11:33The women proved it wasn't.
- 11:34Well, the women, they dropped the weight.
- 11:36So it was less of a sled workout.
- 11:39Oh, my Lord.
- 11:40See,
- 11:40this is what I deal with all the
- 11:42time.
- 11:46No, you are not invited into this podcast,
- 11:48Miss Veronica.
- 11:49No.
- 11:51This is what, listen,
- 11:53I am tired of people making excuses as
- 11:56to why they didn't do well.
- 11:57It wasn't a sticky lane.
- 11:59People in that lane had completely poor
- 12:02mechanics.
- 12:03There was plenty of poor mechanics out
- 12:07there.
- 12:07I just think it took a little bit
- 12:09more out of the people in that lane.
- 12:13They all were holding the posts up high.
- 12:16None of them were putting their shoulders
- 12:18into it and pushing down on the sled
- 12:20like everybody.
- 12:21And it wasn't just lane five.
- 12:23People were destroyed in all the lanes at
- 12:25different times.
- 12:26Oh, good Lord.
- 12:28Let's make more excuses.
- 12:33Lanes will always be a problem.
- 12:36Hold on.
- 12:36I do think this was probably the most
- 12:38similar.
- 12:39This was probably the best sled ever.
- 12:43situation we've had this is the practice
- 12:46field for an nfl franchise you think
- 12:50they're going to have inconsistencies on
- 12:52their turf the turf they practice on the
- 12:55turf that their million dollar players
- 12:57could get injured on you think they're
- 12:59going to allow it to be inconsistent okay
- 13:06i don't even know how they have if
- 13:07that's their turf or how they set up
- 13:09this these rubber mats to turf
- 13:14But I agree that technique of sled was
- 13:19incredibly important because the men,
- 13:21a lot of the men were just driving
- 13:22it top down and sticking it right into
- 13:25the floor.
- 13:29I, I just,
- 13:30I'm in all my years of doing this
- 13:32and covering this sport.
- 13:33I'm just sick of everybody having an
- 13:36excuse and everybody coming up with a
- 13:38conspiracy theory.
- 13:40The test is in front of you go
- 13:42out and just complete the test.
- 13:44Other people in lane five,
- 13:45which one of them was Carolyn, I believe.
- 13:48Yeah.
- 13:48Carolyn was just,
- 13:49who had a great success in that lane.
- 13:54Laura Horvat was in that lane.
- 14:01He wasn't that way.
- 14:02Yeah, but he always dies.
- 14:07He always implodes.
- 14:12So there it is.
- 14:15I said that it has been this way
- 14:17all day.
- 14:19We saw Jared Rabiel at the restaurant.
- 14:22I did not.
- 14:22So wrong.
- 14:29Oh, my God.
- 14:29See, this is what I'm talking about.
- 14:32I did not.
- 14:33We argued for ten minutes before we
- 14:35realized she wasn't looking at the same
- 14:37person I was.
- 14:37I saw him.
- 14:44Holy shit.
- 14:48Anyway, yes, I did give a side eye.
- 14:51I've been giving several side eyes today.
- 14:57Carolyn had no issues in lane five.
- 15:00I know the men's seat,
- 15:01that lane looks so slow,
- 15:03but mine felt fine.
- 15:05There you go.
- 15:06They did lower the weight for the women.
- 15:10They lowered the weight.
- 15:11So that it would be less of a
- 15:12sled workout.
- 15:15It was definitely a sled workout for the
- 15:17men.
- 15:19It was a sled workout for the women.
- 15:26Same sled, KDL, same sled,
- 15:28different weight.
- 15:32Yeah, they just, like,
- 15:32they took a plate off from what was
- 15:34supposed to be on there.
- 15:35They decided to lower that.
- 15:39Vicky says she thinks we're an old,
- 15:40bitter, married couple from a past life.
- 15:45Ronica has the same problem,
- 15:47and she's here with us.
- 15:50Just saying.
- 15:56If it's the Colts turf,
- 15:57do they care about the sled push
- 15:59consistency on their turf?
- 16:00I'm sure the offensive lineman do.
- 16:12We all know who wears the pants in
- 16:13that dynamic, Vicky.
- 16:16I don't need this kind of abuse.
- 16:23Um, so the run happened today.
- 16:28It started off with Roman cramping after
- 16:31gaining a huge lead.
- 16:34And was it necessary to go that hard?
- 16:36Be that far out front.
- 16:39And then he.
- 16:41Withdrew from the competition saying that
- 16:43it was,
- 16:44he cramped and it was a sign that
- 16:46his body needed rest because he cramped
- 16:48yesterday on the other side,
- 16:50correct today on this side.
- 16:52And he said that, uh, that was it.
- 16:56His body was telling him he needs rest.
- 16:58Yeah.
- 16:59So he decided to call it a weekend.
- 17:03We then went in then on the women's
- 17:05side, um, Amanda jobs.
- 17:10Crushed it.
- 17:10Crushed the run.
- 17:13Finished sub-forty,
- 17:15which was faster than most of the men.
- 17:18And an incredible time.
- 17:24Who took second in that?
- 17:26I don't remember.
- 17:36I feel like Lydia was third and Ella
- 17:37was fourth.
- 17:38Who was second?
- 17:41And then Amy was fifth?
- 17:42Yeah.
- 17:43I don't know.
- 17:47Oh, well.
- 17:48CrossFit says, eat bananas,
- 17:50monkey never cramp.
- 17:51Remember that statement?
- 17:52Yes.
- 17:53Yeah.
- 17:58Who's the other good runner?
- 18:01I don't know.
- 18:02Yeah, who's that one?
- 18:04I'll pull it up here.
- 18:09So the run...
- 18:11Was this one four, right?
- 18:13No, three.
- 18:15Oh, was it Sydney?
- 18:17It was Sydney.
- 18:18Yeah, that's right.
- 18:19Inga Lofts took third.
- 18:24Then Lydia Fish, then Ella, then Amy.
- 18:30And then on the men's side,
- 18:33Sprague passed Roman,
- 18:36but he didn't even win.
- 18:37It was a yellow hosta.
- 18:40Chris Ibarra took second,
- 18:41which catapulted him way up in all
- 18:44standings.
- 18:45Luka Djokic took third,
- 18:47Colin Bosshard fourth,
- 18:48and then James Sprague fifth.
- 18:52Noah Wilson's having a pretty doggone good
- 18:54weekend.
- 18:55I think that sled one got him a
- 18:56little bit.
- 18:58But, yeah, he's doing great.
- 19:04Lydia is awesome, top ten.
- 19:07Yeah,
- 19:08I saw her dad on the way out
- 19:10of the venue tonight.
- 19:11They gave me a Lydia fish kazoo.
- 19:15So now I have the towel, the kazoo,
- 19:19and the clapper.
- 19:21Jealous.
- 19:22And I yelled, go Lydia and go bears.
- 19:25And they were very appreciative of that.
- 19:31Is the Amy versus Laura battle overhyped?
- 19:37I think it's going to play out,
- 19:39I think, when they get to the finals.
- 19:41Yeah.
- 19:42But I think Amital is going to be
- 19:44in that mix pretty strongly.
- 19:46Yeah.
- 19:47And Andrea Stolberg has a shot.
- 19:53She's right there with Laura.
- 19:54She's actually ahead of Laura.
- 19:56She is ahead of Laura for the weekend
- 19:58so far.
- 20:00Is Andrea a good swimmer?
- 20:04I don't find out in the morning.
- 20:08Yeah.
- 20:13I don't, yeah.
- 20:14I don't know.
- 20:14I mean, Laura will,
- 20:15she'll get her on the snake squad.
- 20:17Snatching Laurel will win that battle of
- 20:19the weekend come tomorrow.
- 20:23Uh, then we had the bench press.
- 20:27Colton is just a straight up strong,
- 20:30savage dude.
- 20:33And someone asked earlier if anybody beat
- 20:36Colton's opening weight.
- 20:37And I,
- 20:38if what was called the opening weight,
- 20:40three, six, three, six, five.
- 20:44Yeah.
- 20:44Somebody got three, six, seven,
- 20:45I think right around there.
- 20:48I think somebody hit,
- 20:49cuz I remember thinking it was like four,
- 20:51thirty or forty pounds.
- 20:53That was four.
- 20:58It was four.
- 20:59Yeah.
- 21:01Uh, three, seven, three, seven, six,
- 21:03and then three, six, five, four Miko,
- 21:06little York, little York.
- 21:09So yeah, three people,
- 21:11including Colton himself matched, uh,
- 21:14his opening weight.
- 21:17Um, so yeah,
- 21:22he Colton came out and killed it and
- 21:23he needed to,
- 21:25and he needed to kill the last one.
- 21:27Mm-hmm
- 21:29And he did.
- 21:31So back to back,
- 21:33back to back wins for him.
- 21:36On the women's side, it was Dana Peran,
- 21:42which the floor announcer kept saying Dana
- 21:44Peran.
- 21:47Akira Milligan.
- 21:51But she took first,
- 21:53Amanda Fisher took second, I believe.
- 21:56Kolstad may have stuck in there for a
- 21:58second.
- 21:58I can't remember.
- 22:01I'm sure you're right because you always
- 22:03are.
- 22:09Kolstad did.
- 22:10Amanda Fisher at .
- 22:16Hannah Black at two-thirty.
- 22:18And then Emma Tall tied with Kirstensen at
- 22:23two-twenty-seven and a half.
- 22:25And Ariel with two-twenty-five.
- 22:29She tried heavier and missed.
- 22:31Yeah,
- 22:31she tried two-twenty-seven and then went
- 22:32down to the two-twenty-five.
- 22:35Which the two-twenty-seven wouldn't matter
- 22:36because it's two-twenty-seven point five
- 22:37on that other one.
- 22:39Unless that's what those are out there.
- 22:40I don't know.
- 22:42Uh, Bruce says, uh,
- 22:43the broadcast commentators are horrible.
- 22:45You know how you fix that Bruce?
- 22:47You show up at the event and support
- 22:50the event.
- 22:51Although we can hear the names and yeah,
- 22:53that gets you're like, dude, get it right.
- 22:56Yeah.
- 22:57It, uh, it's great at the venue.
- 23:03Do the floor,
- 23:04the floor announcers flawless.
- 23:05No.
- 23:06But you get to be your own camera
- 23:10shot.
- 23:10You get to be your own angle.
- 23:12You get to figure out where you want
- 23:14to look at all times.
- 23:17And they do a great job highlighting the
- 23:19floor.
- 23:22Last year,
- 23:23I heard bitches about the lighting.
- 23:25It is awesome in person.
- 23:26Yeah, I like the lighting.
- 23:28I don't think that it could be done
- 23:31any better.
- 23:32It appears that Rogue is very similar.
- 23:35where they bring in their own lighting
- 23:37rig.
- 23:38But by bringing in your own lighting rig,
- 23:40you're bringing the lights closer to the
- 23:42floor and it's not like washed out and
- 23:47drab.
- 23:47It's actually like vibrant on the floor in
- 23:50person.
- 23:53It was definitely busier today.
- 23:56Um,
- 23:57With that Heart of America competition
- 23:59going on, that brings in people,
- 24:02letting the spectators run that run.
- 24:06I mean,
- 24:06the parking lot was way more packed.
- 24:08I felt like the stands had far more
- 24:10people in them.
- 24:12And just more people in general in that
- 24:14center, the second floor area.
- 24:17I think it was much more attended today.
- 24:21It's not as much as it needs to
- 24:22be because this is a great event.
- 24:27It really is a very enjoyable,
- 24:30awesome event to be at.
- 24:32I've been to so many different ones.
- 24:35I would rank it above water Palooza.
- 24:37I would rank it.
- 24:40Honestly,
- 24:41this has been more enjoyable than the
- 24:42games for me this year.
- 24:44I enjoyed the game and that, and that's,
- 24:47I'm not trying to dog on the games.
- 24:49I enjoyed the games.
- 24:51This has been just really enjoyable.
- 24:55Yeah, other than the seats at the games,
- 24:57because those are a little more comfy to
- 24:58sit in.
- 24:59Ah, yes.
- 25:00I will give you that.
- 25:01Yeah, these are bleachers.
- 25:02We need to bring, like,
- 25:03bleacher seats so that you have a little
- 25:07comfort.
- 25:07Or just stand up and stand a long
- 25:10thing.
- 25:10But I hate when the railings get packed
- 25:13with standing,
- 25:14so I would prefer to sit down and
- 25:17get out of the way.
- 25:19But, yeah,
- 25:19the seats can be more comfortable.
- 25:22Other than that.
- 25:24Yeah.
- 25:24But you know,
- 25:24what a Palooza's benches too.
- 25:26Yeah.
- 25:26And the last year I was at water
- 25:29Palooza,
- 25:30half the fans didn't even get in to
- 25:31see the elite events because you couldn't
- 25:35fit there just was, um, with that comment,
- 25:45Scott won't get.
- 25:48whatever for next year's games.
- 25:49I think credentials, creds.
- 25:51Oh, creds, yeah.
- 25:52That's totally what she, yeah.
- 26:00No, we're not bashing the games.
- 26:09I said that out loud.
- 26:10I'm not bashing the games.
- 26:11As a media member.
- 26:13Yes.
- 26:14For sure.
- 26:15Way less hoops to jump through.
- 26:18Nice accommodations to keep your stuff
- 26:21away from every... Like, so it's safe.
- 26:24Like,
- 26:24we had that stolen camera equipment at
- 26:28semifinals out in Carson the one year.
- 26:32Like, you don't have to worry about that.
- 26:35We're away from everybody where that
- 26:36can...
- 26:36And there's security not letting people up
- 26:39the stairs.
- 26:40Yep.
- 26:42So...
- 26:45It's really a nice event, nice facility,
- 26:47and they treat the athletes super well.
- 26:50We have snacks, free PT and massage too.
- 26:53Lots of space for warm-up, et cetera.
- 26:56They really are treating the athletes well
- 26:59from what I can see over there.
- 27:01I'm going to spend some time in the
- 27:02athlete lounge tomorrow just talking to
- 27:03people.
- 27:05We haven't done that as much because the
- 27:08actual floor has been so fun to watch.
- 27:12So then we finished up with
- 27:14the magical lane five and ten or nine
- 27:17or whatever it was that screwed everybody
- 27:20over.
- 27:22Fifty toes to bar,
- 27:24the twenty-five sandbag snatches.
- 27:28Squats.
- 27:29Squats, sorry.
- 27:31Into the sled push.
- 27:35What I found amazing was people doing
- 27:38sandbag squats in cleats.
- 27:40Yes.
- 27:43And I think it was BKG that said
- 27:46when he watched the first couple of heats,
- 27:48he realized for the men,
- 27:50this became a sled push workout instead of
- 27:52a sandbag squat.
- 27:56And so the cleats were to help him
- 27:59with the sled and just get through the
- 28:01other two.
- 28:05So it was wild seeing people squat in
- 28:10cleats.
- 28:11It was very strange.
- 28:13But then you have like Laura and runners
- 28:15and it was wild watching somebody
- 28:16squatting sandbags, squatting runners.
- 28:20When you saw people slipping,
- 28:22when they were pushing the amount of
- 28:24energy that they lost with that slip.
- 28:27And some of them were slipping so much.
- 28:29Yeah.
- 28:30I mean,
- 28:31tennis shoes were not meant to be dug
- 28:34in on turf.
- 28:35Right.
- 28:36They just weren't, um,
- 28:40But BKG started a trend,
- 28:43and then you saw cleats everywhere.
- 28:45Now,
- 28:45the big question is that Jamie and I
- 28:47argued about, again, something else,
- 28:49is are turf shoes cleats?
- 28:56She says no.
- 28:58I say yes.
- 28:59I mean,
- 29:01actual cleats with the actual nubs on them
- 29:05that people are standing on,
- 29:06those are cleats.
- 29:08Turf shoes are just turf shoes.
- 29:10Thanks, guys.
- 29:12Listen, if they're not nanos,
- 29:13they're cleats.
- 29:15See what I have to deal with?
- 29:16It just argues weird stuff.
- 29:18Thank you.
- 29:19Thank you.
- 29:20Whatever.
- 29:22They just want you to flex.
- 29:31If you are wearing turf shoes,
- 29:32then they have nubs on the bottom and
- 29:34they are not what you would normally work
- 29:37out in.
- 29:42Jay Burch, thank you.
- 29:49Thanks, Carolyn.
- 29:52I'm not saying they're identical.
- 29:53I'm saying it's the same thing in this
- 29:56environment.
- 30:00I could squat in turf shoes far easier
- 30:04than in pleats.
- 30:11Nobody had metal nubs.
- 30:12They were plastic nubs.
- 30:14Both the cleats and the turf were plastic
- 30:17nubs.
- 30:19I don't think they let metal cleats on
- 30:22this artificial turf.
- 30:23Yeah, I don't think so either.
- 30:28Nobody had golf shoes.
- 30:30They looked like soccer cleats for the
- 30:32most part.
- 30:33Yes.
- 30:34If they were going cleats.
- 30:37And a lot of them were Adidas athletes.
- 30:41that went to them initially.
- 30:42Yeah.
- 30:43And they,
- 30:44and Adidas is big in the soccer world,
- 30:45so.
- 30:47Yeah,
- 30:48that's what Sidney Wells was wearing,
- 30:50the Adidas cleats.
- 30:53And some of them looked really sharp.
- 30:55Yeah.
- 30:56Like the colorways on them were awesome.
- 30:59Uh-huh.
- 31:02Yeah.
- 31:02Nobody's arguing the grip Jay Birch.
- 31:05We all agree that either turf shoes or
- 31:07cleats.
- 31:08Oh yeah.
- 31:09Oh yeah.
- 31:09On that turf.
- 31:11Um, it,
- 31:12we just Jamie and I have to fight
- 31:14about something every event.
- 31:16And so we fought about lane five and
- 31:19lane nine,
- 31:20and we fought about turf shoes versus
- 31:22cleats.
- 31:25Um, so with that, the winner was Colton.
- 31:33on the men's side and,
- 31:36and then it got wild.
- 31:38It was so fun to watch because the
- 31:41one thing WFP does very,
- 31:42very well is they put the time to
- 31:44beat up on the jumbotron.
- 31:46And then you have the,
- 31:47the F one leaderboard down and the running
- 31:51clock.
- 31:52So you can like,
- 31:53are they going to beat the time?
- 31:54Are they not going to beat the time?
- 31:56And so many of the times to beat
- 31:58were from the early heats.
- 31:59Right.
- 32:00So you had this fun aspect of,
- 32:03on every heat like are they going to
- 32:06pull it off and yeah and the other
- 32:08events you're always like waiting for the
- 32:10announcer to say it because you're like
- 32:11shoot what was that time you're you're
- 32:14trying to remember but you're usually off
- 32:16by a few seconds so seeing it up
- 32:18there while the event's going on is great
- 32:23so on the women's side emmental crushed
- 32:25We didn't think anybody was going to be
- 32:27like Andrea's time.
- 32:28I know.
- 32:29And then Emma Tall just smoked it by
- 32:32a good ten seconds.
- 32:36Ota Lund, I can never say her name.
- 32:39Yeah, and then Olivia Kerstetter,
- 32:41Laura Horvath, Var Thurman-Mo,
- 32:44and Amy Kringle.
- 32:46On the men's side,
- 32:49I hate that it resets back to everything.
- 32:52Put her head up.
- 32:53Colton won.
- 32:56Close.
- 32:57We thought he was going to win handily,
- 32:59but James only two seconds off.
- 33:02Wow.
- 33:03Yonikoski was third.
- 33:06I'll tell you a funny story about that
- 33:07in a second.
- 33:08Yelahosta with a fourth after his win in
- 33:12the morning.
- 33:13He really needed that after day one.
- 33:15Enola Kai took sixth, fifth, fifth,
- 33:20and Chandler Smith with a bad hamstring.
- 33:24Well, and Yonikoski.
- 33:27And Yona.
- 33:28Yeah.
- 33:29Which they didn't like, they,
- 33:32they ran together in the run Chandler,
- 33:35Sam Cornway and Yona just sort of jogged
- 33:38the run together.
- 33:39So I don't know,
- 33:39maybe they had fresher legs than some of
- 33:41the other athletes.
- 33:44That it was a devastating workout.
- 33:46Like the carnage on the floor after this
- 33:49event was epic.
- 33:53And there was a point where I'd looked
- 33:55at Jamie and I said,
- 33:57if you ask the athletes that did the
- 33:59games and have done this weekend so far,
- 34:02which was harder,
- 34:04I am betting you that they say this
- 34:06weekend was harder.
- 34:07Yeah.
- 34:08I think,
- 34:09I think they're going to be sore and
- 34:13yeah, just more beat up from this weekend.
- 34:18Personally.
- 34:18I don't think that's a bad thing.
- 34:19I know there's been a ton to talk
- 34:20about the injuries.
- 34:22I think a lot,
- 34:23I think they knew what they were up
- 34:24for.
- 34:25The workouts were released early,
- 34:27especially the combine very early.
- 34:29Like people knew what to be training for.
- 34:32Um,
- 34:33and to be fair and like everyone's saying
- 34:34like these games, athletes are shit.
- 34:37Like it's too close to the games.
- 34:38Half of these ones that are hurt are
- 34:40not games athletes.
- 34:44Yeah.
- 34:45I mean, yes.
- 34:45Roman pulled out, Pat got hurt.
- 34:49But you have plenty that were not at
- 34:52the games.
- 34:55KDL, Colton wasn't in the bad lane.
- 34:58No, yeah.
- 34:59Colton was in six, I think.
- 35:04Will released the combine ten weeks before
- 35:07the event.
- 35:09He released all the workouts a month
- 35:11before the event,
- 35:12which is their normal mode of operation.
- 35:16Mm-hmm.
- 35:17Because he wants to give the athletes time
- 35:19to prepare.
- 35:24And this is what I'll say.
- 35:26It's sports.
- 35:28Injuries happen in every sport you watch.
- 35:31You watch a tennis match, people withdraw.
- 35:34You watch baseball on a weekend,
- 35:36you're going to have two, three,
- 35:38four injuries.
- 35:39You watch an NFL weekend and the injury
- 35:42lists are through the roof.
- 35:45It's sports.
- 35:46These athletes make the choice to go out
- 35:49there, put themselves on the line,
- 35:52four points to get to these finals.
- 35:56If they thought they were too banged up
- 35:58from the games to do it,
- 35:59they had the choice not to.
- 36:02I mean,
- 36:03you have the choice to hop off that
- 36:04box or not.
- 36:06You guys, as fans,
- 36:08it's all the same people who bitch about
- 36:10Dave programming the step down.
- 36:12Why don't they just let them choose what
- 36:13they want to do?
- 36:14If they want to jump down,
- 36:15they should be able to jump down.
- 36:16And they were given the choice to jump
- 36:19down yesterday.
- 36:23Uh, Vicki says, uh,
- 36:26Colton would have won by a minute if
- 36:27he didn't slip so much up with the
- 36:28sled that takes so much out of you,
- 36:31but Colton wasn't the only one that
- 36:32slipped.
- 36:32You can't just,
- 36:33you can't take him out of it in
- 36:37solitude and say only if he didn't slip,
- 36:40there were so many people slipping.
- 36:47Shannon says there seems to be a lot
- 36:49more than normal and severe ones.
- 36:51There's a hundred athletes here.
- 36:55A hundred.
- 36:55That's more than you see at the games.
- 36:58It is the densest group of athletes in
- 37:03a competition.
- 37:05It is brutal.
- 37:06I'm not going to lie.
- 37:07It's brutal,
- 37:08but all the athletes have the choice.
- 37:10Yep.
- 37:13There's more money available here.
- 37:14Like I just think more people are willing
- 37:16to risk it.
- 37:22This is what I'll say.
- 37:24Everybody bitched about the masters and
- 37:27the age group athletes not getting
- 37:29something that felt games like.
- 37:33And I heard people after the games say,
- 37:36yeah, there were twenty events,
- 37:37but my body didn't really feel like there
- 37:39were twenty events.
- 37:42Well, I'm betting you after today,
- 37:44people are saying it feels like a games
- 37:45weekend.
- 37:48And isn't that what we all want?
- 37:50Isn't this the thing we've been asking for
- 37:54the intensity, the, and it's fun to watch.
- 38:00It makes it so fun to watch.
- 38:08Yeah.
- 38:09You guys heard me say after the games,
- 38:12I just wanted more carnage.
- 38:13So I'm getting what I wanted.
- 38:16Like I am loving this.
- 38:19I it's not just a three minute,
- 38:21like who can go execute perfectly and not
- 38:25have a slip up.
- 38:26Like it's who's,
- 38:28who truly is willing to hurt the most
- 38:31and who's fitter to get through these
- 38:34longer workouts.
- 38:35Like you had twenty minutes yesterday and
- 38:37thirteen of them today.
- 38:38And most people used up every second of
- 38:40it.
- 38:41Shana says,
- 38:43I hope they're getting good medical
- 38:44support at the venue.
- 38:45Medical team is on the floor.
- 38:47Bam.
- 38:47Yeah.
- 38:49Um,
- 38:50the only thing I saw and that medical
- 38:53couldn't have been there any faster was
- 38:55Quinn's torn pack.
- 38:59When his pector,
- 39:00the judge on the one side was not
- 39:03capable of lifting her side of the way.
- 39:06Yeah.
- 39:06Because he like completely just laid
- 39:08there.
- 39:08Like he couldn't.
- 39:09So like she needed, and you're not,
- 39:11you're not thinking that that's going to
- 39:12happen.
- 39:12You're thinking they're going to fail and
- 39:14you need to help assist it up.
- 39:17But even in that case,
- 39:19there was a backup spotter there within
- 39:22five seconds.
- 39:23Yes.
- 39:24Within five seconds.
- 39:27And that's the only thing where I saw
- 39:30maybe a slight delay in medical attention.
- 39:38Yes, I agree, CrossFit.
- 39:40We used to see carnage at regionals,
- 39:42not just injury, but people in heaps.
- 39:44This has this.
- 39:45I completely agree.
- 39:47That's what I feel like this is bringing
- 39:49back.
- 39:50How many people have torn Paxil in the
- 39:52ring?
- 39:52Exactly.
- 39:54At regionals.
- 39:55And I don't know if people are just
- 39:56bitching because it's WFP and they want to
- 39:58bitch about it.
- 40:00Or if I, that's what I,
- 40:02that's what I can't figure out.
- 40:04I don't want to see people get hurt.
- 40:05Don't get me wrong.
- 40:06Like I'm, I'm gutted for Pat.
- 40:10I'm gutted for Quinn.
- 40:11I've been rooting for him.
- 40:13Um,
- 40:15But athletes make choices on those.
- 40:18Six inch box jumps.
- 40:20How many people rebounded?
- 40:21Exactly.
- 40:22They made that choice.
- 40:25You don't have to do that.
- 40:27Yup.
- 40:29When you people been asking for that,
- 40:30you are competing for the points.
- 40:32You want people to not compete for the
- 40:34points?
- 40:36Like it just is.
- 40:38Yeah.
- 40:40Um, but like, honestly.
- 40:45Pat went down,
- 40:45there were five medical people on him.
- 40:47I know.
- 40:49And they had to sled off of him
- 40:51within five to ten seconds.
- 40:55Yeah.
- 40:58I mean,
- 40:59Julie Fouché tore a Achilles tendon at
- 41:02regionals.
- 41:04Rogue had two people,
- 41:06or in the last two years,
- 41:08three people tear an Achilles.
- 41:10It's...
- 41:12I think people just look at WFP and
- 41:15they're looking for something to complain
- 41:16about.
- 41:18Yes.
- 41:19I mean, and it's anything.
- 41:21It's not just WFP, but yes,
- 41:22we're seeing it because that's what we're
- 41:23talking about right now.
- 41:24So we're just seeing more bitching.
- 41:25But yes, on stream, on the internet,
- 41:29really anywhere, people,
- 41:32it's always the complainers that are the
- 41:34loudest.
- 41:39Uh, I'm so old school.
- 41:40I was at the original where Talena
- 41:42Fortunato finished the hundreds workout
- 41:45first.
- 41:46I'm back there with you, buddy.
- 41:47Um,
- 41:51don't tell me how to compete Bill
- 41:52Grundler.
- 41:54Yeah.
- 41:58Yeah, everybody's going to,
- 41:59they're going to find something to bitch
- 42:01about.
- 42:01And I'll say this.
- 42:02Last year was,
- 42:03did I bitch about the WFP?
- 42:04Yeah, we did.
- 42:05Yes, we did.
- 42:06But they have taken a lot of constructive
- 42:08criticism and made changes for the good.
- 42:11Yep.
- 42:12Because I complained about the point
- 42:13system.
- 42:13I didn't like that the challengers weren't
- 42:15doing the same workout.
- 42:16I didn't like that it was like,
- 42:18I feel like they've listened to a lot
- 42:20of the critiquing.
- 42:21Yeah,
- 42:22you just like it because they went with
- 42:23the point system you suggested.
- 42:26And you're right, you're right.
- 42:31Bill Leahy was making me nervous with his
- 42:33bouncy rebound he went right back to the
- 42:36thing that I know and Jamie's rooting for
- 42:41Bill because he didn't do tour stop one
- 42:44and he is right on the cut line
- 42:46to go to the finals like right on
- 42:49the cut line I mean he's doing pretty
- 42:53much everything he needs to do here
- 42:57Yeah.
- 42:57We'll see how he swims.
- 42:58I don't know how he is as a
- 42:59swimmer either.
- 43:00I don't know.
- 43:02Uh,
- 43:05Forty-eight minutes in and Scott finally
- 43:07got one right.
- 43:08What?
- 43:13They definitely listened to feedback.
- 43:15I agree, Mickey.
- 43:16They did.
- 43:17I am telling you, if you want,
- 43:20if you want to go to a quality
- 43:22event that is very entertaining and
- 43:29Does the most for the spectators that are
- 43:31there, this is your event?
- 43:34Oh, yeah.
- 43:35That's what I was telling Scott.
- 43:38It's hard for me to go to the
- 43:41games or something and be gone for three,
- 43:45five days, whatever it is,
- 43:46and get thrown off my routine.
- 43:50And here, there's a –
- 43:53Like the pro,
- 43:54the way the day is set up,
- 43:56there's time for you to go do one
- 43:58of these activations, spectator workouts,
- 44:02which I think most people that are diehard
- 44:04fans that come to these type of events
- 44:07want to still get a workout in.
- 44:09And it's like this event is just made
- 44:12for you as a spectator.
- 44:14So yesterday you and Ronica did one of
- 44:16the workouts.
- 44:17Yep.
- 44:18HWPO or no?
- 44:19We did the Mayhem one.
- 44:20The Mayhem one.
- 44:21Bailey and Tyler Crispo.
- 44:23So yeah,
- 44:23they they're bringing in former CrossFit
- 44:26athletes to lead these, uh,
- 44:29Bailey rail and Chris Bailey, Christopher,
- 44:32uh, and Tyler Taylor, Tyler, Christopher.
- 44:35Yeah.
- 44:36It's late guys.
- 44:37Um, you guys did that yesterday,
- 44:39today you ran the ten K yep.
- 44:42And then tomorrow you are signed up for
- 44:43an event,
- 44:44but tomorrow they have one with FISA
- 44:46coffee.
- 44:47They have one with, um, supposedly page,
- 44:52but she's competing.
- 44:53So it's probably just going to be Bailey.
- 44:56I think it's broken fee.
- 44:58Brooke Wells, I think is doing it.
- 45:00Not like,
- 45:01I think they took page off there.
- 45:02I think it's broken, broken.
- 45:05And then the other one is Bailey again,
- 45:07the born, born to,
- 45:08or call to be is what she calls
- 45:11her brand.
- 45:13Okay.
- 45:13Yeah.
- 45:15So like,
- 45:16you're going to get a workout in every
- 45:17day while you're here.
- 45:19And in the, in the main area, they,
- 45:23like we said yesterday,
- 45:24they have cornhole,
- 45:24they have football tosses with nets to
- 45:27throw into.
- 45:28They have, um,
- 45:31The lawn pong, like a big beer pong.
- 45:36Yes.
- 45:38Um, so giant rental cup, trash,
- 45:41bad basket looking type things, but yeah.
- 45:45Yeah.
- 45:45Take my third seat.
- 45:47That's what I need to do.
- 45:48Here's the problem.
- 45:50Don't be like me.
- 45:52I forgot to pack.
- 45:53I brought, don't worry.
- 45:53I got you.
- 45:54I brought it.
- 45:55Okay.
- 45:56Uh,
- 45:57but I'll tell you what the bed in
- 45:58this Airbnb is better than my bed at
- 46:00home.
- 46:02Yeah, they have coffee beds.
- 46:04It's... To get to the media area,
- 46:07you have to walk the whole way around
- 46:09the venue.
- 46:10But that's fine.
- 46:12I don't mind the exercise.
- 46:15But it does...
- 46:16I'm getting in a lot of steps.
- 46:17Oh, yeah.
- 46:19Because I...
- 46:21I got a couple cups of coffee this
- 46:23morning.
- 46:25Because Jamie made shitty coffee this
- 46:27morning.
- 46:27But she says it is shitty.
- 46:31I should have just dumped it.
- 46:33And then we get back tonight and she
- 46:34goes,
- 46:34you didn't have any of the coffee this
- 46:35morning.
- 46:36Well, you told me it's shitty.
- 46:39Why would I drink the shitty coffee?
- 46:44Um, but yeah, we're, uh, it's, it's great.
- 46:47It's just, it's so easy to park.
- 46:50It's so easy to get in.
- 46:52Um,
- 46:52this complex has parking right outside the
- 46:55venue.
- 46:57We said yesterday it's twenty five bucks
- 46:59for the weekend to park.
- 47:00It's ninety nine dollars for a ticket to
- 47:02get in for the whole weekend.
- 47:04Way cheaper than the games.
- 47:06Hell, that's cheaper than some semifinals.
- 47:09Yep.
- 47:14There's actually a coffee place here that
- 47:15listens to the show.
- 47:17Yeah, it's excellent.
- 47:20It's called Uplift Coffee.
- 47:21If you're if you see them,
- 47:23it's really good coffee.
- 47:27When you're right, you're right.
- 47:28As rare as it is, Scott.
- 47:32I hate you all.
- 47:36It is cheaper than a day of the
- 47:37games.
- 47:37You are correct, KDL.
- 47:39It is.
- 47:41And honestly, I'm having a blast.
- 47:44And actually,
- 47:45the athletes are more accessible.
- 47:47For sure.
- 47:48Like, way more accessible.
- 47:50In fact,
- 47:51they WFP had trading cards made and they
- 47:54had special ones made like refractors.
- 47:57And if you didn't trade cards as a
- 47:59kid,
- 48:00that's what are like the holographic kind
- 48:04of thing.
- 48:05They hid them throughout the venue.
- 48:07And if you found one, it was autographed.
- 48:11Jamie found one.
- 48:12I saw it.
- 48:12I pointed it out to her.
- 48:13I pointed it.
- 48:17You didn't even know what it was.
- 48:19Like, what is this?
- 48:20And I didn't realize that they had hidden
- 48:21cards.
- 48:22Because I didn't want to touch it.
- 48:23Like, I didn't know what was going on.
- 48:24Yeah.
- 48:25They put on Instagram that they had hid
- 48:26them throughout the venue.
- 48:27Yeah.
- 48:29Then you told me.
- 48:29So she got a signed Sidney McAlishan card.
- 48:33Yep.
- 48:34And Sidney's looking good.
- 48:35She is looking good.
- 48:37She crushed that sled.
- 48:38Yeah.
- 48:39She made that sled her bitch.
- 48:40She was...
- 48:41The only one who, I mean,
- 48:44she was like able to run with it
- 48:45and she did like, yeah,
- 48:47she moved that sled so well.
- 48:48Arrow ran with it for a brief amount
- 48:50of time and then three seconds and two
- 48:53to run with it for two steps and
- 48:55then stopped.
- 48:56And I'm thinking, dude,
- 48:58it's harder to start over again than to
- 49:00just push through and keep.
- 49:02Yeah.
- 49:06Uh, like old was, uh,
- 49:07before it became huge,
- 49:09you could approach all the athletes and
- 49:11actually get into the venues.
- 49:12It's all that.
- 49:13Yeah.
- 49:14When I left today,
- 49:15Amy Kringle was right in front of me.
- 49:17She got swarmed by little girls and it
- 49:21was the cutest thing ever.
- 49:22And she was so nice to them and.
- 49:26Talked to them, gave them high fives,
- 49:29the whole bit.
- 49:31It's just a really cool venue,
- 49:33really cool atmosphere, great vibes.
- 49:37I know I sound like I'm being paid
- 49:40by them to say this stuff.
- 49:42But I told Patrick and I told Will
- 49:45that if I see something I don't like,
- 49:48I'm going to say something.
- 49:50So here are the couple of things that
- 49:51I don't like.
- 49:51Okay.
- 49:52The media pit they're allowing spectators
- 49:55in.
- 49:55Yeah.
- 49:57The people they're trying to get content
- 49:59that makes it extremely difficult.
- 50:01Yes.
- 50:03There are still way too many media members
- 50:05on the floor.
- 50:06Yes.
- 50:07Do we really need eight crotch shots of
- 50:10every bench press?
- 50:14Yes.
- 50:14When people are bench pressing,
- 50:16don't hold the camera low and get the
- 50:18upshot.
- 50:18It is so weird to me that I
- 50:21feel like you were.
- 50:22I know.
- 50:22I feel like I have to look away
- 50:23until they get it up,
- 50:25get the camera settled on the right spot.
- 50:27I'm like, what are we watching?
- 50:31And I like if you looked at all
- 50:34the videos I took,
- 50:35there's at least one or two media members
- 50:37walking through the shot.
- 50:38Yes.
- 50:39Everyone.
- 50:39Yes.
- 50:43Yeah, I agree.
- 50:43That is frustrating.
- 50:44And I do have an understanding that
- 50:49they're trying to put out content
- 50:51themselves and their people should have
- 50:54prime real estate for that.
- 50:57But camera technology is so good now and
- 51:00the lighting is so good in that place
- 51:03that if you have a good lens and
- 51:05a good camera,
- 51:06you are going to get good content.
- 51:09And you don't have to be
- 51:12he's crotch.
- 51:14I agree.
- 51:18That would be my complaint too.
- 51:20They need to have corded off media area,
- 51:23pit area or like a second barricade wall
- 51:28that we're in.
- 51:29I don't know.
- 51:31If they want spectators along the
- 51:33barricade wall,
- 51:34I don't know how they need to do
- 51:36that.
- 51:37Katie Elson,
- 51:38wasn't the guy who was spotting Colton
- 51:39like the CEO of WFP?
- 51:41I don't know if he's CEO.
- 51:45He's president of WFP.
- 51:48But it was him, probably.
- 51:51He was the backup spotter and would give
- 51:54liftoffs so people could stand in
- 51:59And he's a pretty strong dude.
- 52:01Um, here's a quick, a funny question.
- 52:05It just pops in my head.
- 52:06I hate when getting a lift off from
- 52:08a benching.
- 52:08I don't usually like liftoffs either.
- 52:11I want to control where I put it
- 52:13into my path and not have somebody else
- 52:16guiding me.
- 52:16Yeah.
- 52:18And I couldn't believe how many of the
- 52:19athletes got a lift off.
- 52:21Um,
- 52:23I wasn't sure if possibly that was
- 52:25because,
- 52:25because I don't think they were allowed to
- 52:28touch the J cups,
- 52:30the straps or the J cups.
- 52:32So I don't know if like it was
- 52:33maybe set low to accommodate, like,
- 52:36you know, I mean,
- 52:37you gotta have it set the same as
- 52:38it would be for Cole and ask for
- 52:39James Craig.
- 52:40So I can see why,
- 52:41if that's the case,
- 52:43James might want to lift off.
- 52:44Like if it's way down here for James,
- 52:46cause it's set one height.
- 52:47I can see why some people might want
- 52:49to lift off.
- 52:49I did see them change the straps a
- 52:50couple of times.
- 52:51I did.
- 52:51I did see some complaints about the
- 52:52straight straps and some movement,
- 52:54but I never saw the Jacobs get moved.
- 52:56I, and then I did see,
- 53:00and this is the other bad thing,
- 53:01but I think it's a more,
- 53:02a sign that we are tapped out on
- 53:05judges.
- 53:06Yeah.
- 53:07We are just running out of good judges
- 53:11with this much of a season.
- 53:13And you can say that about the NFL
- 53:16and everybody bitches about the referees.
- 53:18Everybody bitches about the umpires in
- 53:20baseball.
- 53:21Everybody bitches about the chair ump in
- 53:23tennis.
- 53:25Like it just,
- 53:26we're running out of good judges.
- 53:32There were some inconsistencies on the
- 53:34bench.
- 53:35In my world,
- 53:36you have to extend the bench completely to
- 53:38the top, then rack it.
- 53:41A good rep isn't throwing it into the
- 53:43Jacob.
- 53:46I like to throw it into the Jacob.
- 53:50Really?
- 53:50I don't know.
- 53:51Now you're arguing with me on that
- 53:53standard.
- 53:54No, I agree.
- 53:55It needs to be locked out before you
- 53:58put it backwards.
- 53:59Larry Young is a big fat liar.
- 54:02I don't bench heavy enough to lift off.
- 54:07I couldn't even lift off, Larry, your bar.
- 54:16If you asked for one,
- 54:17I'd have to say, sorry,
- 54:18you're on your own, dude.
- 54:24Jacob, I'm a B cup.
- 54:33Yeah, so that standard was weird.
- 54:35The sled standard at the turnaround seemed
- 54:37to be inconsistent.
- 54:40Some people were forced to push the sled
- 54:43completely over the line before turning.
- 54:45Others were allowed to turn it and let
- 54:48the turn be what got it over the
- 54:50line.
- 54:50Correct.
- 54:53Only a few, but yes.
- 54:54It seemed to be more to the second
- 54:56for the women and allowed.
- 54:59On the men, it was really inconsistent.
- 55:01Yes.
- 55:04Um, and squat depth.
- 55:11Yeah.
- 55:12On those sandbag squads.
- 55:13But I'll tell you this,
- 55:15Kristen Holta must force squat depth at
- 55:19CrossFit Oslo because all the Kriger girls
- 55:23were well below parallel.
- 55:28The Kriger girls move well in pretty much
- 55:31everything that I see them do.
- 55:33And that makes it like when they win
- 55:34events or when they do great in events,
- 55:36you're like, well,
- 55:38that's even more impressive because you
- 55:40know, they are meeting all the standards.
- 55:44Um, what is your CrossFit total, Larry?
- 55:49It's over nine thousand.
- 55:53He just picks up a Jeep,
- 55:56does all three moves.
- 56:01Um,
- 56:04What else do we want to say?
- 56:08I don't know.
- 56:12I'm excited to see some swimming tomorrow.
- 56:15That workout's going to be gnarly.
- 56:17And I think legs are going to be
- 56:18smoked.
- 56:19So I'm worried about,
- 56:20we talked about this,
- 56:21kicking in the water.
- 56:22But you're biking too, so you're like,
- 56:25ugh, gross.
- 56:26That workout's going to be devastating.
- 56:30And then standing up those heavy snatches
- 56:32later.
- 56:33Ooh.
- 56:34Ooh.
- 56:36Yeah, this is going to be...
- 56:37This is a painful weekend.
- 56:39It is painful.
- 56:40I'm excited to ask how people's lives are
- 56:42tomorrow.
- 56:45But I think it's odd.
- 56:45That's what makes it fun to watch.
- 56:50So, any Xenon talk at WFP?
- 56:54It is too busy.
- 56:55We are too busy.
- 56:57That's my other complaint.
- 56:58It is very loud.
- 57:00The music is...
- 57:01too loud it needs to come down at
- 57:04certain points and like when there's it's
- 57:08like a i get it during the event
- 57:12yeah but in between the yes they could
- 57:14just turn it down a little bit yeah
- 57:17so you so people can like turn and
- 57:19talk to each other about what they just
- 57:21saw yes the it's like a who wants
- 57:24to be a millionaire ddd like that intro
- 57:27that like they're playing
- 57:29That's when, like,
- 57:30that needs to come down just a tad
- 57:33in volume.
- 57:33It's too loud.
- 57:35I agree, Jabers.
- 57:36That's all comps.
- 57:37The DJ needs to be better about bringing
- 57:40it.
- 57:41Like,
- 57:41that's why I probably will never go to
- 57:43Waterpalooza again is my head can't take
- 57:47that many days of nonstop techno.
- 57:52Yeah,
- 57:53I just want to be able to talk
- 57:54about the event to people.
- 57:55And, like,
- 57:56you can't ever hear what I'm saying.
- 57:58And it's like...
- 58:00I just need, like,
- 58:00thirty seconds of just slightly down.
- 58:04I don't mind the dramatic music during the
- 58:06walkout.
- 58:07That, you know,
- 58:08old person Jamie here can't handle it,
- 58:10but I think that's okay.
- 58:11Because I'm not really talking about the
- 58:14walkout.
- 58:15No, it's not the walkout,
- 58:15because that's actually fine,
- 58:17because they're saying their names and
- 58:20stuff.
- 58:21It's the last thirty seconds before the
- 58:23timer goes off.
- 58:24There's, like, this little, like,
- 58:25I don't know.
- 58:28Derek Summers.
- 58:29Did I miss it, Scott?
- 58:30Earlier you said you had a funny story
- 58:31revealing.
- 58:32It's Yonikoski.
- 58:35So the floor announcers are from all over
- 58:39the world as well.
- 58:40They are representative of the entire
- 58:43world.
- 58:44And when Yonikoski was on the floor,
- 58:50whenever they wanted you to get hype,
- 58:52they would yell, let's get loud,
- 58:56Grant Park.
- 58:59Right.
- 58:59Yeah.
- 59:00Or come on,
- 59:00Grant Park or something like that.
- 59:03I swore to God they called Yonikoski
- 59:05Grandpa.
- 59:08I thought they were saying, come on,
- 59:09Grandpa.
- 59:11And I was like, that is so rude.
- 59:14I cannot believe they're calling Yonikoski
- 59:17Grandpa.
- 59:18He's not even the oldest person out here.
- 59:22And then I found out that it was
- 59:23just his accent and he was saying Grant
- 59:25Park.
- 59:30So, yeah.
- 59:32So if you see Yonikowski,
- 59:35call him Grandpa.
- 59:36That's going to be his new nickname.
- 59:43And that's probably another reason we're
- 59:44not getting the correct pronunciations of
- 59:46all the athletes.
- 59:48But if that's my job,
- 59:52if I'm Claire Bays for a day,
- 59:55What a glorious day that would be first
- 59:57and foremost.
- 59:58And second,
- 59:59I'm sure that I would do my research
- 1:00:02and find the phonetic spellings of these
- 1:00:05people.
- 1:00:05So I knew how to pronounce it because
- 1:00:08I would be mortified if I was
- 1:00:09mispronouncing.
- 1:00:12Because I do it all the time on
- 1:00:13here.
- 1:00:13I know.
- 1:00:16And you know,
- 1:00:25Mispronounce a name.
- 1:00:30Jamie, buy Scott a red curly wig.
- 1:00:33You're going to be Claire Bays for a
- 1:00:34day.
- 1:00:34Because I'd have to run a mile.
- 1:00:36Yeah.
- 1:00:42Katie Elf,
- 1:00:43if I was Claire Bays for a day,
- 1:00:44my mental health would skyrocket.
- 1:00:47There you go.
- 1:00:50Keep singing,
- 1:00:51maybe they will throw some fruit for
- 1:00:53dessert.
- 1:00:54American tale.
- 1:00:56Oh, that's going on in school.
- 1:00:57I do not know what that is.
- 1:01:01They are all recorded, aren't they?
- 1:01:03The intros are not recorded, Claire.
- 1:01:06No, it's not.
- 1:01:07So, yeah, last year, that's how it was.
- 1:01:09Or maybe even in London.
- 1:01:11I think they let the athletes like say
- 1:01:13their name and they're in the United
- 1:01:15States or Miami or whatever.
- 1:01:16They got to say they're like city or
- 1:01:17country.
- 1:01:19That's not how they're doing it this year.
- 1:01:21The there's a floor announcer saying their
- 1:01:22name as they walk out.
- 1:01:23The floor north floor announcer is
- 1:01:25bringing them all out one by one.
- 1:01:27Yep.
- 1:01:29And I,
- 1:01:29and Vicki texted me today and said that
- 1:01:31she,
- 1:01:32she's done with the smoke and the intro
- 1:01:35because it takes too long.
- 1:01:36I think it's one of the coolest things
- 1:01:39when you're here.
- 1:01:39Yeah.
- 1:01:48Um, uh, KDL start the mile.
- 1:01:54Yeah,
- 1:01:55Five-O was one of the rats who fled
- 1:01:57communism.
- 1:02:02Okay.
- 1:02:03Yeah, those were a different time.
- 1:02:07The Iron Curtain still existed.
- 1:02:10And we needed cartoon therapy.
- 1:02:13All right.
- 1:02:18Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:18I knew they weren't when announced.
- 1:02:21I just tonight the athlete said their name
- 1:02:25into a mic somewhere that the media had
- 1:02:27access to.
- 1:02:28I don't know if they did that.
- 1:02:29If they did, if they did that,
- 1:02:31which I've heard that is how they normally
- 1:02:32do it.
- 1:02:33Yeah.
- 1:02:34The four announcers here have not
- 1:02:36listened.
- 1:02:37Yeah,
- 1:02:37I know that I've seen them do that
- 1:02:38at camps.
- 1:02:39Like I've seen them do that at the
- 1:02:40games,
- 1:02:40have them say their name so that they
- 1:02:42can listen to the pronunciation.
- 1:02:43No clue if they did that here.
- 1:02:47That seems like the smart play.
- 1:02:49That's how you should do things so that
- 1:02:51you can hear it.
- 1:02:53Live, it might be cool.
- 1:02:54On the stream, it's just slow.
- 1:02:56Each one feels like sixty seconds.
- 1:02:58I know it's not,
- 1:02:59but it feels that way every single event.
- 1:03:01We have to remember how many hamstring
- 1:03:03injuries there are and some of the people
- 1:03:05it takes a while to get from that
- 1:03:07side of the floor to the other side
- 1:03:09of the floor.
- 1:03:09I was worried about
- 1:03:17I don't know who it was.
- 1:03:18Sammy.
- 1:03:18I don't know who I was worried about
- 1:03:19him even making it to the star man.
- 1:03:22I'm like, I don't think he's making it.
- 1:03:24Yeah.
- 1:03:24Yeah.
- 1:03:28It's bad,
- 1:03:28which it didn't matter because he didn't
- 1:03:29do it.
- 1:03:30But I'm telling you, Vicki, it's only.
- 1:03:32Ten seconds between each name called.
- 1:03:35Yeah.
- 1:03:36It's fairly quick.
- 1:03:39So Vicki was going to tell you to
- 1:03:45put my skivvies in the freezer.
- 1:03:50Well,
- 1:03:50as cold as this house is right now,
- 1:03:53this is the weirdest thing in this Airbnb.
- 1:03:56During the day, it is cold in here.
- 1:03:58Freezing.
- 1:03:59Then at night when you want it to
- 1:04:00be cold,
- 1:04:01all of a sudden the heat goes on.
- 1:04:03I don't know if the heat came on,
- 1:04:04but it definitely felt.
- 1:04:06It was definitely.
- 1:04:06I mean,
- 1:04:07we all woke up and we're like,
- 1:04:09I got hot last night, which was weird.
- 1:04:11And then we're sitting here this morning
- 1:04:13having our morning beverage,
- 1:04:15not the shitty coffee.
- 1:04:17And I look out the back door and
- 1:04:19there's a wolf.
- 1:04:21There was a real live wolf out the
- 1:04:26back door.
- 1:04:30It was, I was shocked.
- 1:04:33And he looked hungry.
- 1:04:34He did look hungry.
- 1:04:35He was scavenging back there.
- 1:04:38Yeah,
- 1:04:39I sleep at a unreasonably cold
- 1:04:41temperature.
- 1:04:43level.
- 1:04:45Ed,
- 1:04:45it was sixty-eight when we went to bed.
- 1:04:47It was seventy when we woke up.
- 1:04:48We don't know what happened.
- 1:04:52No, not a woof.
- 1:04:53A, like, woof.
- 1:04:58W-O-L-V-E.
- 1:05:01Oh, wolves?
- 1:05:01There was multiple?
- 1:05:03I didn't put an S at the end.
- 1:05:04Yeah, but it's O-L-F.
- 1:05:08If it's a wolf.
- 1:05:09Okay.
- 1:05:10Well, I guess now...
- 1:05:13I said a wolf.
- 1:05:14Yeah.
- 1:05:20Love that y'all are there having fun.
- 1:05:22It's been so cool to watch Carolyn smash
- 1:05:24it.
- 1:05:24She's crushing it.
- 1:05:25Oh my gosh.
- 1:05:26We were yelling so loud for her to
- 1:05:28finish that last workout.
- 1:05:30And she did it with one second to
- 1:05:31go.
- 1:05:36Need you on my back too, Vicky.
- 1:05:38Vicky.
- 1:05:42I realize now that I did not spell
- 1:05:43it correctly.
- 1:05:44It is a wolf.
- 1:05:46And if there are multiple, it is wolves.
- 1:05:48I get it.
- 1:05:49I'm not dumb.
- 1:05:50I'm just tired.
- 1:05:52I'm tired of fighting.
- 1:06:01This is Tessa.
- 1:06:03But it's the last thing I would say
- 1:06:04is I've run into so many listeners here.
- 1:06:08It has been so cool to get to
- 1:06:11chat with people.
- 1:06:14I'm still surprised by it when people
- 1:06:16recognize who I am,
- 1:06:18but it makes me feel warm inside every
- 1:06:20time someone does.
- 1:06:22And so if you ever see me out,
- 1:06:25please, please,
- 1:06:26please run over and say hi,
- 1:06:28because it really does make my day.
- 1:06:35Then just don't fight Jamie.
- 1:06:37She's always right.
- 1:06:39In her mind, she definitely is.
- 1:06:46Maybe putting WFP on my list of comps
- 1:06:49to Xena.
- 1:06:50It is...
- 1:06:52This is what it's like all the parts.
- 1:06:55It's not perfect.
- 1:06:56I'm not going to say it's perfect.
- 1:06:59They have a desk show that you can
- 1:07:01go watch.
- 1:07:01They have like beanbags and chairs where
- 1:07:05you can sit and watch the show.
- 1:07:08They have bleachers that make sense.
- 1:07:12They have the lighting to is right on
- 1:07:17the floor.
- 1:07:17There's no distractions there.
- 1:07:19It feels like a big comp.
- 1:07:21They make you feel special when the app
- 1:07:23that smoke stuff at the beginning makes
- 1:07:25every athlete feel like they are special.
- 1:07:31And when you feel like you're special,
- 1:07:32you're going to go out there and fight
- 1:07:33like hell.
- 1:07:36And maybe that's why we're seeing the
- 1:07:38injuries because they feel awesome and
- 1:07:41they want to go out and do the,
- 1:07:42do their best.
- 1:07:43Ariel's interview today was hilarious.
- 1:07:48When she talked about she went to the
- 1:07:51basketball game last night and she made
- 1:07:52the best.
- 1:07:53She said because she did the combine
- 1:07:55yesterday, she felt like an athlete.
- 1:07:58So that's why she made the shot.
- 1:07:59Like none of her other accomplishments
- 1:08:01have made her feel like an athlete over
- 1:08:02the years.
- 1:08:03Just doing the combine.
- 1:08:04Now she's an athlete.
- 1:08:05Yeah.
- 1:08:06She said she was an athlete.
- 1:08:07Now she knows how to walk in.
- 1:08:08Yeah.
- 1:08:10It was so good.
- 1:08:13I think Katrin is awesome as a
- 1:08:15commentator.
- 1:08:17I think she should be in the booth
- 1:08:19as much as possible.
- 1:08:21And I'll leave it at that.
- 1:08:27It sucks to get injured when you don't
- 1:08:28feel as awesome as an athlete.
- 1:08:31And I know two people that that happened
- 1:08:33to at the CrossFit Games who didn't feel
- 1:08:35special when they got hurt.
- 1:08:40Yeah.
- 1:08:41And they're both Masters athletes and one
- 1:08:43sitting beside me.
- 1:08:44Yep.
- 1:08:48When are they coming to the Pacific
- 1:08:49Northwest?
- 1:08:49I'll ask.
- 1:08:51Hopefully never.
- 1:08:52I love it here.
- 1:08:53Me too.
- 1:08:54It was an easy drive.
- 1:08:56Yeah.
- 1:08:57But I would travel to one of these.
- 1:09:00Just not California.
- 1:09:02Yeah.
- 1:09:04Or Miami.
- 1:09:05Those two are expensive.
- 1:09:07Yep.
- 1:09:09Other comps have those covered,
- 1:09:10so let's stay out of there.
- 1:09:12Seth and Annie Bicker.
- 1:09:13I think Seth is great to bring out
- 1:09:15that stuff.
- 1:09:15Uh-huh.
- 1:09:17Um, I really like Seth a lot.
- 1:09:21Jamie is too stubborn to get hurt until
- 1:09:23you run into a street sign.
- 1:09:24That's why I get hurt.
- 1:09:31Eugene here.
- 1:09:32Dolly loved us.
- 1:09:37Seth is very good.
- 1:09:38Seth is so knowledgeable and he's been
- 1:09:40around since the beginning of all this
- 1:09:42craziness.
- 1:09:44And so he brings a really,
- 1:09:45a wealth of, of.
- 1:09:48knowledge and experience.
- 1:09:50That's what the board I was looking for.
- 1:09:55So, all right, guys,
- 1:09:57we're going to hit the hay.
- 1:09:58I got to get up for a swimming
- 1:09:59event tomorrow morning.
- 1:10:02Yes.
- 1:10:02I love to watch swimming and we'll see
- 1:10:05who,
- 1:10:06who doesn't cramp kicking in that water.
- 1:10:09Wait, they're bananas tomorrow.
- 1:10:11That's what we're going to see.
- 1:10:11Yeah.
- 1:10:13It didn't help Roman.
- 1:10:14So I don't know.
- 1:10:14Yeah.
- 1:10:17All I had tonight was fish.
- 1:10:19I had all the fish.
- 1:10:20All the fish.
- 1:10:22I had fish too.
- 1:10:23Two nights in a row.
- 1:10:24Unlike me, I usually get steak or burgers.
- 1:10:26All right.
- 1:10:28And last thing, we still have shirts.
- 1:10:32Vicki's not here to show you the thing.
- 1:10:35We're probably not going to be on the
- 1:10:36air again until Tuesday.
- 1:10:38We'll do a wrap-up show on all this
- 1:10:40with Carolyn, hopefully.
- 1:10:43She'll be back home,
- 1:10:44and we can do that and all that.
- 1:10:47And, yeah, don't forget your thirdsy.
- 1:10:49Thirdsy.com backslash jazzy.
- 1:10:53And get fifteen percent off your order.
- 1:10:57Helps you sleep every night.
- 1:11:00We will tell Carolyn that.
- 1:11:01Carolyn is having a good comp.
- 1:11:04Tomorrow is just going to be the icing
- 1:11:05on the cake because we all know she's
- 1:11:07a great swimmer with floaties.
- 1:11:12And I do believe there'll be a Monday
- 1:11:13lunch show.
- 1:11:15As long as I'm not too tired.
- 1:11:19I do have to go back to work
- 1:11:20Monday, so I'll be up.
- 1:11:20I mean,
- 1:11:21might as well take a break for an
- 1:11:23hour and talk to people.
- 1:11:25And if you didn't see it,
- 1:11:26Tyson Bajan threw a ninety seven yard
- 1:11:28touchdown pass tonight for the Chicago
- 1:11:30Bears.
- 1:11:32Hopefully they don't trade him now
- 1:11:33tomorrow because people want to.
- 1:11:36With that, everybody have a great night.
- 1:11:38We will see you Tuesday night for this
- 1:11:42show and Monday afternoon for the lunch
- 1:11:45show.
- 1:11:49With that, bye guys.
