- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready to learn some more French body parts? Luna: Absolutely! We've done head, face, hands, arms, legs, feet... What's next? Lucas: Today we're focusing on the torso. The main part of the body between the neck and the legs. Luna: Good idea. So what's the word for 'torso' itself? Lucas: It's 'le torse'. Let's say it together: le torse. Luna: Le torse. Lucas: Perfect. Now, the stomach or belly is 'le ventre'. Le ventre. Luna: Le ventre. That one's kind of fun to say. Lucas: It is. Next, the back is 'le dos'. Le dos. Luna: Le dos. Like 'dos' in Spanish, but pronounced differently. Lucas: Exactly. And the chest is 'la poitrine'. La poitrine. Luna: La poitrine. That one's a bit longer. Lucas: You got it. Finally, the shoulders are 'les épaules'. Les épaules. Luna: Les épaules. So they're feminine plural? Lucas: Yes, exactly. 'Épaule' is feminine, so 'les épaules'. Let's review all five: le torse, le ventre, le dos, la poitrine, les épaules. Luna: Le torse, le ventre, le dos, la poitrine, les épaules. Got it. Lucas: Great. Now let's use them in a sentence. If you exercise, you might say 'Je travaille le torse et les épaules.' I work the chest and shoulders. Luna: Je travaille le torse et les épaules. That could be useful after a workout. Lucas: Or if you have a stomachache: 'J'ai mal au ventre.' I have a stomachache. Luna: J'ai mal au ventre. Hope I don't need that too often. Lucas: Right. Let's do a quick scene. I'll be at the doctor, and you tell me your symptoms. Luna: Okay. Docteur, j'ai mal au dos. That means 'Doctor, I have a backache'. Lucas: Excellent. And I'd say 'Montrez-moi où vous avez mal.' Show me where it hurts. Then you point to your back. Luna: Perfect. So le dos is the back. Lucas: Yep. Now let's practice the words again. Repeat after me: le torse. Luna: Le torse. Lucas: Le ventre. Luna: Le ventre. Lucas: Le dos. Luna: Le dos. Lucas: La poitrine. Luna: La poitrine. Lucas: Les épaules. Luna: Les épaules. Lucas: You know, if Fexingo has been helping you make real progress with these body parts, we have a small favor. Luna: Yeah, a handful of listeners actually support the show monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's what keeps it ad-free and going. Lucas: Exactly. No pressure at all, but if you find these episodes useful, that's a great way to help. Now, back to practice. Luna: Let's do one more round. I say the English, you say the French. Stomach. Lucas: Le ventre. Luna: Back. Lucas: Le dos. Luna: Chest. Lucas: La poitrine. Luna: Shoulders. Lucas: Les épaules. Luna: And torso. Lucas: Le torse. Perfect. Now try saying them all in one breath: le torse, le ventre, le dos, la poitrine, les épaules. Luna: Le torse, le ventre, le dos, la poitrine, les épaules. Wow, that's a mouthful. Lucas: You did it. Keep practicing, and next time we'll add more body parts. See you then! Luna: À bientôt!
