- 0:02Speaker 1: Second Book of Adam and Eve, Chapter one. When La
- 0:06Speaker 1: Luah heard Kaine's words, she wept and went to call
- 0:09Speaker 1: her father and mother and told them how Cain had
- 0:11Speaker 1: killed his brother Abel. Then they all cried aloud and
- 0:14Speaker 1: lifted up their voices, and slapped their faces, and threw
- 0:17Speaker 1: dust upon their heads, and ripped their garments apart, and
- 0:20Speaker 1: went out and came to the place where Abel was killed.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And they found him lying on the earth, killed, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: beasts were around him. They wept and cried because he
- 0:29Speaker 1: was a just person, because his body was pure. From
- 0:32Speaker 1: it went forth a smell of sweet spices, and Adam
- 0:35Speaker 1: carried him as Adam's tears streaming down his face, and
- 0:38Speaker 1: he went to the cave of Treasures, where he laid able,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and Adam wound him up with sweet spices and myrrh,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and Adam and Eve continued in great grief by the
- 0:45Speaker 1: burial site for one hundred and forty days. Abel was
- 0:48Speaker 1: fifteen and a half years old and Cain seventeen years
- 0:52Speaker 1: and a half. When the morning for his brother was ended,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Cain took his sister La Lua and married her without
- 0:58Speaker 1: permission from his father and mother because of their heavy hearts.
- 1:01Speaker 1: They could not keep him from her. He then went
- 1:04Speaker 1: down to the foot of the mountain, away from the garden,
- 1:07Speaker 1: near the place where he had killed his brother, And
- 1:09Speaker 1: in that place were many fruit trees and forest trees.
- 1:12Speaker 1: His sister gave birth to his children, who in their
- 1:15Speaker 1: turn began to multiply by degrees until they filled that place.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But Adam and Eve did not come together have intercourse
- 1:22Speaker 1: for seven years after Abel's funeral. After this, however, Eve conceived,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and while she was with child, Adam said to her, come,
- 1:31Speaker 1: let us take an offering and offer it up unto God,
- 1:34Speaker 1: and ask him to give us a beautiful child and
- 1:36Speaker 1: whom we may find comfort, and whom we may join
- 1:39Speaker 1: in marriage to Abe's sister. Then they prepared an offering
- 1:42Speaker 1: and brought it up to the altar and offered it
- 1:45Speaker 1: before the Lord, and began to ask him to accept
- 1:47Speaker 1: their offering and to give them a good offspring. And
- 1:50Speaker 1: God heard Adam and accepted his offering. Then Adam, Eve,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and their daughter worshiped and came down to the Cave
- 1:58Speaker 1: of Treasures and placed a lamp in it by the
- 2:00Speaker 1: body of Abel, to burn by the body night and day.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Then Adam and Eve continued fasting and praying until Eve's
- 2:06Speaker 1: time came that she should be delivered. When she said
- 2:09Speaker 1: to Adam, I wish to go to the cave in
- 2:11Speaker 1: the rock to give birth in it. And he said,
- 2:14Speaker 1: go and take your daughter with you to wait on you,
- 2:17Speaker 1: but I will remain in this cave of Treasures before
- 2:19Speaker 1: the body of my son Abel. Then Eve listened to Adam,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and she and her daughter left, but Adam remained by
- 2:26Speaker 1: himself in the Cave of Treasures Chapter two, and Eve
- 2:35Speaker 1: gave birth to a son, perfectly beautiful in foreman and demeanor.
- 2:38Speaker 1: His beauty was like that of his father, Adam, yet
- 2:41Speaker 1: more beautiful. Then Eve was comforted when she saw him,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and remained eight days in the cave. Then she sent
- 2:48Speaker 1: her daughter unto Adam to tell him to come and
- 2:50Speaker 1: see the child and name him. But the daughter stayed
- 2:52Speaker 1: in his place by the body of her brother until
- 2:55Speaker 1: Adam returned. But when Adam came and saw the child's
- 2:58Speaker 1: good looks, his beauty, and his perfect form, he rejoiced
- 3:02Speaker 1: over him and was comforted for Abel. Then he named
- 3:05Speaker 1: the child Seth, which means that God has heard my
- 3:08Speaker 1: prayer and has delivered me out of my affliction, but
- 3:11Speaker 1: it means also power and strength. Then, after Adam had
- 3:15Speaker 1: named the child, he returned to the Cave of Treasures,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and his daughter went back to her mother. But Eve
- 3:21Speaker 1: continued in her cave until forty days were fulfilled, when
- 3:25Speaker 1: she came to Adam and brought with her the child
- 3:27Speaker 1: and her daughter. And they came to a river of water,
- 3:30Speaker 1: where Adam and his daughter washed themselves because of their
- 3:33Speaker 1: sorrow for Abel. But Eve and the Babe washed for purification.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Then they returned and took an offering and went to
- 3:40Speaker 1: the mountain and offered it up for the Babe. And
- 3:43Speaker 1: God accepted their offering and sent his blessing upon them
- 3:46Speaker 1: and upon their son Seth, and they came back to
- 3:49Speaker 1: the Cave of Treasures. As for Adam, he did not
- 3:52Speaker 1: have intercourse again with his wife Eve all the days
- 3:55Speaker 1: of his life. Neither was any more offspring born of them,
- 3:59Speaker 1: but only those Cain, La, Lua, abel A, Clia, and
- 4:04Speaker 1: Seth alone. But Seth waxed in statureantine strength, and began
- 4:08Speaker 1: to fast and pray fervently. Author's note. Abel was fifteen
- 4:13Speaker 1: and a half years old and Cain seventeen years and
- 4:16Speaker 1: a half. When Abel was killed. Cain and Lua were twins.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Abel and a Cleio were twins. Caine married his twin sister.
- 4:24Speaker 1: A Cleia was fifteen and a half when Abel died.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Adam and Eve did not come together have intercourse for
- 4:30Speaker 1: seven years. After Abel's funeral, a Cleo would now be
- 4:34Speaker 1: twenty two and a half. Eve carried Seth for nine months.
- 4:38Speaker 1: At the time of Seth's birth, a Cleia would have
- 4:40Speaker 1: been twenty three years old. Chapter three. At the end
- 4:48Speaker 1: of seven years from the day Adam had been separated
- 4:50Speaker 1: from his wife, Eve, Satan envied him, and when he
- 4:53Speaker 1: saw Adam was separated from her, Satan strove to make
- 4:57Speaker 1: him live with her again. Then Adam arose and went
- 4:59Speaker 1: up a the Cave of Treasures, and continued to sleep
- 5:02Speaker 1: there night by night. But every day, as soon as
- 5:05Speaker 1: it was light, he came down to the cave to
- 5:07Speaker 1: pray there and to receive a blessing from it. But
- 5:10Speaker 1: when it was evening he went up on the top
- 5:12Speaker 1: of the cave, where he slept by himself, fearing that
- 5:15Speaker 1: Satan could overcome him. And he continued a part in
- 5:17Speaker 1: this way for thirty nine days. Then when Satan, the
- 5:21Speaker 1: hater of all that is good. Saw Adam alone, fasting
- 5:24Speaker 1: and praying. He appeared unto him in the form of
- 5:27Speaker 1: a beautiful woman, who came and stood in front of
- 5:29Speaker 1: him and the night of the fortieth day, and said
- 5:31Speaker 1: to him, Adam, from the time you have dwelt in
- 5:34Speaker 1: this cave, we have experienced great peace from you, and
- 5:37Speaker 1: we have been comforted because of you. But now, Adam,
- 5:39Speaker 1: that you have gone up over the roof of the
- 5:41Speaker 1: cave to sleep, we have had doubts about you, and
- 5:44Speaker 1: a great sorrow has come upon us because of your
- 5:46Speaker 1: separation from Eve. Then again, when you were on the
- 5:49Speaker 1: roof of this cave, your prayer is poured out and
- 5:52Speaker 1: your heart wanders from side to side. But when you
- 5:55Speaker 1: were in the cave, your prayer was like fire gathered together.
- 5:58Speaker 1: It came down to us and you found rest. Then
- 6:02Speaker 1: I also worried over your children, who are separated from you.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And my sorrow is great about the murder of your
- 6:07Speaker 1: son Abel, because he was righteous, and over a righteous
- 6:10Speaker 1: man every one will grieve. But I rejoiced over the
- 6:13Speaker 1: birth of your son Seth. But after a little while
- 6:16Speaker 1: I sorrowed greatly over Eve, because she is my sister.
- 6:20Speaker 1: For when God sent a deep sleep over you and
- 6:22Speaker 1: drew her out of your side. He brought me out
- 6:24Speaker 1: with her, but he raised her by placing her with
- 6:27Speaker 1: you while he lowered me. I've rejoiced over my sister
- 6:31Speaker 1: for her being with you. But God it made me
- 6:33Speaker 1: a promise before, and said, do not grieve. When Adam
- 6:37Speaker 1: has gone up on the roof of the Cave of
- 6:38Speaker 1: Treasures and to separated from Eve his wife. I will
- 6:42Speaker 1: send you to him, and you shall join yourself to
- 6:44Speaker 1: him in marriage and bear five children for him, as
- 6:47Speaker 1: Eve gave him five children. And now look, God's promise
- 6:51Speaker 1: to me is fulfilled, because it is he who has
- 6:53Speaker 1: sent me to you for the wedding. Because if you
- 6:55Speaker 1: wed me, I shall bear you finer and better children
- 6:59Speaker 1: than those of Eve. You are still young, Do not
- 7:02Speaker 1: injure youth in this world and sorrow. Spend the days
- 7:05Speaker 1: of your youth and happiness and pleasure. Your days are few,
- 7:09Speaker 1: and your trials have been great. Be strong and injure
- 7:12Speaker 1: days in this world and rejoicing. I shall take pleasure
- 7:15Speaker 1: in you, and you shall rejoice with me in this way,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and without fear, get up and fulfill the command of
- 7:20Speaker 1: your God. She then came near Adam and embraced him.
- 7:24Speaker 1: But when Adam saw that he was going to be
- 7:25Speaker 1: overcome by her, he prayed to God with a fervent
- 7:28Speaker 1: heart to deliver him from her. Then God sent his
- 7:31Speaker 1: word to Adam, saying, Adam, that apparition is the one
- 7:34Speaker 1: that promised you the Godhead and majesty. He does not
- 7:38Speaker 1: intend good for you, but shows himself to you at
- 7:40Speaker 1: one time in the form of a woman, and in
- 7:42Speaker 1: another moment in the likeness of an angel, and on
- 7:45Speaker 1: other occasions in the apparition of a serpent, and at
- 7:47Speaker 1: another time in the semblance of a god. But he
- 7:50Speaker 1: does all of this only to destroy your soul. Adam,
- 7:54Speaker 1: now that you understand this in your heart, you will
- 7:56Speaker 1: see that I have delivered you many a time from
- 7:58Speaker 1: his hands in order to show you that I I'm
- 8:00Speaker 1: a merciful God. I wish you good, and I do
- 8:03Speaker 1: not wish your Ruin chapter four, then God ordered Satan
- 8:11Speaker 1: to show himself to Adam in his own hideous form plainly.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But when Adam saw him, he feared and trembled at
- 8:17Speaker 1: the sight of him. And God said to Adam, look
- 8:20Speaker 1: at this devil, and at his hideous sight and know
- 8:23Speaker 1: that he it is who made you fall from brightness
- 8:25Speaker 1: into darkness, from peace and rest to toil and misery.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And look at him, Adam, He is the one who
- 8:31Speaker 1: said that he is God. Can God be black? Would
- 8:34Speaker 1: God take the form of a woman? Is there anyone
- 8:37Speaker 1: stronger than God? And can he be overpowered? See Adam,
- 8:42Speaker 1: look at him bound in your presence in the air,
- 8:45Speaker 1: unable to flee away. So I say to you, do
- 8:49Speaker 1: not be afraid of him. From now on, take care
- 8:52Speaker 1: and beware of him. He will try to do things
- 8:55Speaker 1: to you. Then God drove Satan away from Adam, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: God strengthened Adam's heart and comeforted him, saying, go down
- 9:02Speaker 1: to the cave of Treasures, and do not separate yourself
- 9:04Speaker 1: from Eve. I will quiet all of your animal lust.
- 9:08Speaker 1: From that hour, It left Adam and Eve, and they
- 9:11Speaker 1: enjoyed rest by the commandment of God. But God did
- 9:14Speaker 1: not do the same to any of Adam's seed relations.
- 9:17Speaker 1: God did this only to Adam and Eve. Then Adam
- 9:21Speaker 1: worshiped before the Lord for delivering him and for having
- 9:24Speaker 1: subdued his passions. And he came down from above the
- 9:27Speaker 1: cave and lived with Eve as had done before this
- 9:30Speaker 1: ended the forty days of his separation from Eve. Chapter five,
- 9:39Speaker 1: when Seth was seven years old, he knew good and
- 9:42Speaker 1: evil and was consistent in fasting and praying, and spent
- 9:45Speaker 1: all his knights in praying to God for mercy and forgiveness.
- 9:49Speaker 1: He also fasted when bringing up his offering every day.
- 9:52Speaker 1: He fasted more than his father did, because his demeanor
- 9:55Speaker 1: was beautiful, like that of an angel of God. He
- 9:58Speaker 1: also had a good heart, and his soul was precious,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and for this reason he brought up his offering every day,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and God was pleased with his offering, but he was
- 10:07Speaker 1: also pleased with his purity, and he continued doing the
- 10:11Speaker 1: will of God and of his father and mother until
- 10:13Speaker 1: he was seven years old. After that, as he was
- 10:17Speaker 1: coming down from the altar after giving his offering, Satan
- 10:20Speaker 1: appeared to him in the form of a beautiful angel,
- 10:22Speaker 1: brilliant with light, with the staff of light in his
- 10:25Speaker 1: hand and wrapped with a girdle of light. He greeted
- 10:28Speaker 1: Seth with a beautiful smile and began to beguile him
- 10:31Speaker 1: with beautiful words, saying to him, Seth, why do you
- 10:35Speaker 1: live in this mountain? It is rough full of stones
- 10:38Speaker 1: and sands and trees with no good fruit on them.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It is a wilderness without houses or towns, no good
- 10:44Speaker 1: place to live in. But everywhere there is heat, weariness,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and trouble. He said further, But we live in beautiful
- 10:52Speaker 1: places in a world other than this earth. Our world
- 10:56Speaker 1: is one of light, and we live in the best conditions.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Our women are more beautiful than any others. Seth, I
- 11:02Speaker 1: wish you to marry one of them, because I see
- 11:04Speaker 1: that you are handsome to look at. In this land,
- 11:07Speaker 1: there is not one woman good enough for you, and
- 11:09Speaker 1: there are only five souls in it. But in our
- 11:12Speaker 1: world there are many men and many young, unmarried women,
- 11:16Speaker 1: all more beautiful one than the other. So I wish
- 11:19Speaker 1: to remove you from here, so that you may see
- 11:22Speaker 1: my relations and be wedded to whichever you like. You
- 11:25Speaker 1: shall live by me and be at peace. You shall
- 11:27Speaker 1: be filled with glory and light, just as we are.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You shall remain in our world and rest from this
- 11:33Speaker 1: world and its misery. You shall never again feel weak
- 11:36Speaker 1: and weary. You shall never bring up an offering or
- 11:39Speaker 1: appeal for mercy. You shall commit no more sin, nor
- 11:43Speaker 1: be swayed by passions. And if you will listen to
- 11:46Speaker 1: what I say. You shall wed one of my daughters,
- 11:49Speaker 1: because to us it is not a sin, and it
- 11:51Speaker 1: is not considered animal lust. For in our world we
- 11:55Speaker 1: have no god, because we all are gods, and we
- 11:58Speaker 1: all are of the light and are heavenly powerful, strong,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and glorious. Chapter six. When Seth heard these words, he
- 12:11Speaker 1: was amazed and began to believe Satan's treacherous speech, and
- 12:14Speaker 1: said to him, you said, there is another world created
- 12:17Speaker 1: other than this one, and there are other creatures more
- 12:20Speaker 1: beautiful than the creatures that are in this world. And
- 12:23Speaker 1: Satan said, yes, you have heard me correctly, and I
- 12:26Speaker 1: will tell you more good things about them and their ways.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But Seth said to him, your words have amazed me,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and your beautiful description of it all. But I cannot
- 12:35Speaker 1: go with you today, at least not until I have
- 12:37Speaker 1: gone to my father Adam and to my mother Eve
- 12:40Speaker 1: and told them all you have said to me. Then
- 12:43Speaker 1: if they give me permission to go with you, I
- 12:45Speaker 1: will come. Seth said, I am afraid of doing anything
- 12:48Speaker 1: without my father's and mother's permission. I do not want
- 12:51Speaker 1: to perish like my brother Kan, and like my father Adam,
- 12:54Speaker 1: who transgressed the commandment of God. But you know your
- 12:57Speaker 1: way to this place, so come and meet me here
- 12:59Speaker 1: tomorrow orrow. When Satan heard this, he said to Seth,
- 13:03Speaker 1: if you tell your father Adam what I have told you,
- 13:06Speaker 1: he will not let you come with me. But listen
- 13:08Speaker 1: to me. Do not tell your father and mother what
- 13:10Speaker 1: I have said to you. Instead, come with me today.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Come now to our world, where you will see beautiful things,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and enjoy yourself there, and celebrate this day among my children,
- 13:21Speaker 1: watching them and taking your fill of happiness, and have
- 13:23Speaker 1: joy there. Then I shall bring you back to this
- 13:26Speaker 1: place tomorrow. However, if you would rather stay there with me,
- 13:30Speaker 1: so be it. Then Seth answered, the hope love spirit
- 13:36Speaker 1: of my father and of my mother hangs on me.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And if I hide from them one day, they will die,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and God will hold me guilty of sinning against them.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And if they know that I have come to this place,
- 13:47Speaker 1: they assume it is to bring up my offering, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: they would expect not to be separated from me one hour.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Neither should I go to any other place unless they
- 13:55Speaker 1: let me. But they treat me most kindly because I
- 13:58Speaker 1: always come back to them quickly. Then Satan said to him,
- 14:02Speaker 1: what will happen to you if he were to disappear
- 14:04Speaker 1: from them one night and return to them at break
- 14:06Speaker 1: of day. Author's note. The assumption here is that he
- 14:10Speaker 1: would sneak out after they fell asleep and not tell them.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But Seth, when he saw how he kept on talking,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and that he would not leave him alone, he ran
- 14:18Speaker 1: and went up to the altar and spread his hands
- 14:21Speaker 1: to God and sought deliverance from God. Then God sent
- 14:24Speaker 1: his word and cursed Satan, who fled from him. But
- 14:27Speaker 1: Seth had gone up to the altar, saying in his heart,
- 14:30Speaker 1: the altar is the place of offering, and God is there.
- 14:34Speaker 1: A divine fire shall consume what is on it, and
- 14:36Speaker 1: so Satan will be unable to hurt me and shall
- 14:39Speaker 1: not take me away from here. Then Seth came down
- 14:42Speaker 1: from the altar and went to his father and mother,
- 14:44Speaker 1: whom he found on his way, and who were longing
- 14:47Speaker 1: to hear his voice because he had been missing a while.
- 14:50Speaker 1: He then began to tell them what had befallen him
- 14:52Speaker 1: from Satan under the form of an angel. But when
- 14:54Speaker 1: Adam heard his account, he kissed his face and warned
- 14:57Speaker 1: him against that angel, telling him it was Satan who
- 15:00Speaker 1: appeared to him. Then Adam took Seth, and they went
- 15:03Speaker 1: to the Cave of Treasures and rejoiced there. But from
- 15:06Speaker 1: that day on, Adam and Eve were never separated from
- 15:09Speaker 1: him wherever he went, whether for his offering or for
- 15:13Speaker 1: anything else. This sign happened to Seth when he was
- 15:16Speaker 1: nine years old.
