- 0:00Speaker 1: The views and opinions expressed on this program do not
- 0:02Speaker 1: necessarily reflect the views and opinions of five ADWCHS, it's employees,
- 0:07Speaker 1: or WVRC Media.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You are listening to the Voice of Charles and five
- 0:23Speaker 2: adw CHS. Thanks so much for tuning in on this
- 0:25Speaker 2: Thursday morning. Apologize once again for a bit of the
- 0:28Speaker 2: technical difficulty that we had with Tom Payton just before
- 0:31Speaker 2: this upgrading sometimes is a little weird. We've talked about
- 0:35Speaker 2: it around here before. We replaced all the physical wires
- 0:38Speaker 2: and buttons and things like that with like IP addresses
- 0:40Speaker 2: and ports and nodes, and sometimes those things get a
- 0:43Speaker 2: little confused, and we got it all sorted out, and
- 0:46Speaker 2: that's what matters in the long run. And once you
- 0:49Speaker 2: fix it once, it's usually fixed forever. So that's the
- 0:50Speaker 2: good news. Thanks for tuning in to five ADWCHS The
- 0:53Speaker 2: Voice of Charleston. I'm Del Cooper filling in for Dave
- 0:55Speaker 2: Allen for today. Dave will be back tomorrow for his
- 0:57Speaker 2: Friday show, but thanks so much for tuning in. They
- 1:00Speaker 2: have a good show for you today. We have several
- 1:01Speaker 2: things coming up for you. We're going to talk to
- 1:04Speaker 2: Bethiskoye here in just a moment from Daymark. She has
- 1:07Speaker 2: the Bingo Brunch and Bubbles event that's coming up to
- 1:10Speaker 2: benefit Daymark. We're going to talk about the corporation, or
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry, we're going to talk about Daymark. We're going
- 1:16Speaker 2: to talk about the event, exactly who it helps and
- 1:18Speaker 2: how I think you're going to find that it's a
- 1:21Speaker 2: very good mission. Musician John Ingram, a buddy of mine
- 1:24Speaker 2: on the radio, is going to come in a little
- 1:26Speaker 2: bit later on. He is with Fletcher's Grove the band,
- 1:29Speaker 2: of course, and he's been a musician around here forever
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know him. He was going to have the big
- 1:32Speaker 2: Billy Strings after party last night. Of course, Billy Strings
- 1:36Speaker 2: unfortunately couldn't make the gig after injuring himself on a
- 1:39Speaker 2: skateboarding accident. That concert's been rescheduled. John's after party concert's
- 1:42Speaker 2: been rescheduled, but John's still want to perform this weekend,
- 1:45Speaker 2: and I thought we could talk a little bit about that.
- 1:47Speaker 2: So John Ingram's going to join us right after Beth,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and then Jeff Jenkins will come back in the studio
- 1:53Speaker 2: and we'll finish the last twenty minutes of the show
- 1:55Speaker 2: or so of the show with him as we recap
- 1:58Speaker 2: all of the news coming out of the Kanal Valley
- 2:00Speaker 2: yesterday with the tragedy that happened in institute and what's
- 2:03Speaker 2: going to happen today. There's a lot of going on
- 2:06Speaker 2: as far as investigations, press conferences, different things like that.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So we're going to get a lay of the land
- 2:10Speaker 2: today on exactly what to expect in the follow up
- 2:13Speaker 2: as far as that goes. So thanks so much for
- 2:15Speaker 2: tuning in today. We have a lot of stuff to
- 2:17Speaker 2: get to as far as it goes. The show today
- 2:19Speaker 2: is brought to you in part by Jarrett Construction, the
- 2:22Speaker 2: Jared Construction Studios, Right on time, right on budget, visit
- 2:25Speaker 2: Jarrett dash Construction dot com. Now, I would like to
- 2:28Speaker 2: go ahead and introduce our first guest this morning. Beth
- 2:30Speaker 2: Scoe is with me this morning. She is the executive
- 2:32Speaker 2: director of Daymark and we're going to talk about a
- 2:34Speaker 2: great event that they have coming up. Beth, good morning,
- 2:36Speaker 2: How are you doing this morning?
- 2:37Speaker 3: Good morning, I'm good, Thank you Dale.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Thank you for coming in. Really interested in talking about
- 2:40Speaker 2: that and I love the mission statement of Daymark and
- 2:43Speaker 2: I think that I mentioned that to you just a
- 2:47Speaker 2: little bit, but in your fifty year mission, over fifty
- 2:50Speaker 2: thousand youths served. We're going to get into that in
- 2:52Speaker 2: just a moment. Explain a little bit about Damark to us.
- 2:54Speaker 2: What is Daymark.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Well, we kind of tie in with your guest last a. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 4: I know, he was talking about CPS cases and removing
- 3:03Speaker 4: kids from their home. And while that is all going on,
- 3:06Speaker 4: you know, and while the MDT as he talked about,
- 3:09Speaker 4: is meeting, the kids.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Are with us.
- 3:11Speaker 4: So we have three programs four teenagers between the ages
- 3:15Speaker 4: of twelve and twenty one who are having a rough time,
- 3:18Speaker 4: you know, honestly, they've been removed from their home, they
- 3:24Speaker 4: maybe are behind in school, they have medical problems, they
- 3:28Speaker 4: have mental health issues, and we just surround them with
- 3:32Speaker 4: whatever they need, you know, whether that's food, clothes, clothing, shelter, education.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:39Speaker 4: We have three programs that are operating twenty four to seven.
- 3:44Speaker 4: At any given time, we have as many as twenty
- 3:46Speaker 4: seven kids actually living with us.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 3:51Speaker 3: We do a ged.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Program for about thirty kids a year who have not
- 3:56Speaker 4: been successful in traditional school and so they're trying to
- 3:59Speaker 4: get their g now and we just we offer the
- 4:06Speaker 4: regular stuff, you know, because they're living with us. So
- 4:10Speaker 4: a lot of what we do is just what you
- 4:13Speaker 4: would do for a kid in your home. You know,
- 4:15Speaker 4: we're taking them to school, we're taking them to the doctor,
- 4:18Speaker 4: we're feeding them our food bills you can imagine is incredible.
- 4:24Speaker 4: But we're also doing the extra listening and the extra
- 4:27Speaker 4: counseling and the extra stuff that the courts need. So
- 4:32Speaker 4: it's a big job. You know, we've been doing it
- 4:34Speaker 4: for more than fifty years.
- 4:36Speaker 3: We are local. All of our.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Kids are from West Virginia, all our staff live in
- 4:40Speaker 4: West Virginia. All the money raised at our event will
- 4:44Speaker 4: be spent right here in West Virginia.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's really amazing and just so I can get for
- 4:49Speaker 2: myself's worth of the context of this. So these are
- 4:51Speaker 2: the children that aren't generally aren't placed in homes already, right,
- 4:54Speaker 2: so that these are kind of in between kids that
- 4:57Speaker 2: have a little bit of trouble there.
- 4:59Speaker 4: They're either in between right like you were saying, last night,
- 5:02Speaker 4: they were at home, something awful blew up.
- 5:05Speaker 2: There, I see, I see, okay.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And now they're with us in a shelter, or they've
- 5:10Speaker 4: been in a situation where they're not going to go home.
- 5:14Speaker 4: You know, those awful cases where things aren't going to
- 5:18Speaker 4: go things, those rights have been terminated, so they're going
- 5:22Speaker 4: to live with us until they're eighteen. And so those
- 5:26Speaker 4: kids were trying to teach them how to do their
- 5:28Speaker 4: own laundry, how to use public transportation, how to fill
- 5:31Speaker 4: out a FAFSA, how to get a job. You know,
- 5:34Speaker 4: we're doing those things too with our older kids.
- 5:37Speaker 2: There was a lady that I worked with forty third
- 5:41Speaker 2: or not forty years ago yet thirty I guess thirty
- 5:43Speaker 2: years ago that her name was Roxy. This was in Michigan,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and she was just a whirlwind of personality and she
- 5:52Speaker 2: was almost like an individual Daymark. She was. She was
- 5:54Speaker 2: a foster parent that would take in the highest risk,
- 5:59Speaker 2: the most difficult, to the people that have the most
- 6:02Speaker 2: probably because she just had a giant heart, had a
- 6:04Speaker 2: troubled upbringing herself. Her own child had had a troubled
- 6:08Speaker 2: time and passed unfortunately at a young age. So she
- 6:11Speaker 2: was just impassioned to help these kids, wanted a time
- 6:15Speaker 2: as much as she could. But in reading about Daymark,
- 6:17Speaker 2: it sort of reminds me, seems like you have a
- 6:20Speaker 2: team of people like that that that that really want
- 6:23Speaker 2: to get in there and help these these kids that
- 6:26Speaker 2: I mean, maybe they don't have anybody else advocating for them,
- 6:28Speaker 2: or or anybody on a on a human level. I mean,
- 6:31Speaker 2: they might have legal help or whatever might be. But
- 6:34Speaker 2: as far as somebody just to sit down in front
- 6:35Speaker 2: of them and you know, maybe listen for a minute
- 6:37Speaker 2: and and and talk to them, I mean that that
- 6:39Speaker 2: is needed when it comes to the kids that fall
- 6:43Speaker 2: between the cracks or whatever it might be, I mean,
- 6:45Speaker 2: is really needed.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the most important question that that we
- 6:49Speaker 4: usually ask our youth are how's your day been? You know,
- 6:55Speaker 4: what happened in school today? What are you thinking about?
- 6:59Speaker 4: What's on your mind mind right now? You know, do
- 7:01Speaker 4: you want to talk do you? Because I mean also,
- 7:05Speaker 4: of course we're doing the counseling and you know, does
- 7:08Speaker 4: your stomach cart?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Do you need to go the doctor? But a lot
- 7:11Speaker 3: of it is.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Just you know, we're here. We have people to listen,
- 7:15Speaker 4: people that are there to listen, and to cook a
- 7:17Speaker 4: meal and to sit down. You know, we try to
- 7:20Speaker 4: have meals where everybody sits down together at least once
- 7:24Speaker 4: a day, you know, and to just I don't want
- 7:28Speaker 4: to say it's a family, because it's not it's never
- 7:30Speaker 4: going to take that place. But the most important thing
- 7:35Speaker 4: in a kid's life is a at least one caring adult,
- 7:39Speaker 4: and we have several, you know, we have several carrying
- 7:43Speaker 4: adults that are in those kids' lives to lend a hand.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's really something else. And the mission is just
- 7:51Speaker 2: is incredible and I could talk about that for a
- 7:52Speaker 2: full hour, but that let's talk a little bit about
- 7:54Speaker 2: the event that's coming up as well, because this is
- 7:56Speaker 2: the first time that we're doing that. You're doing Bingo's
- 7:58Speaker 2: brunch and bubbles and and just looking at the information
- 8:02Speaker 2: and what you have there, this looks like it's going
- 8:03Speaker 2: to be a fantastic time. It's this Saturday, by the way,
- 8:05Speaker 2: it is.
- 8:06Speaker 4: This Saturday, and we're going to start the morning off.
- 8:09Speaker 4: It is a little creek golf course. We're going to
- 8:11Speaker 4: start at ten o'clock with a champagne brunch, so you know,
- 8:15Speaker 4: that's always a nice way to start a weekend, is
- 8:18Speaker 4: a nice brunch. And then at eleven we'll start bingo.
- 8:22Speaker 4: We have ten rounds of bingo, and each round of
- 8:25Speaker 4: Bingo someone will win a designer handbag, and we've got
- 8:31Speaker 4: Michael Core's, We've got Kate Spade, and we've got Mark
- 8:36Speaker 4: Jacob nice. And my mother always told me that it
- 8:40Speaker 4: was rude to give a purse without something in it.
- 8:43Speaker 4: So each handbag has something in it. For example, one
- 8:47Speaker 4: of them has Dancing with the Stars tickets, one of
- 8:51Speaker 4: them has some Dirty Birds tickets. Nice, you know, so
- 8:56Speaker 4: we've got local events are stuffed into each hand bag,
- 9:00Speaker 4: so it's not just a handbag.
- 9:02Speaker 3: You're winning. You're actually winning, you know, tickets to do something.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And then we also.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Have we're up to fourteen additional gifts for raffles, so
- 9:12Speaker 4: you'll be able to buy all morning. We'll be selling
- 9:15Speaker 4: raffle tickets, and we've got we've got some awesome raffle
- 9:20Speaker 4: ticket prices too, you know. We've got some skincare products,
- 9:25Speaker 4: we've got some trips. We've got like a whole picnic basket.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Our board of directors has made a very nice wine
- 9:34Speaker 4: basket with lots of bottles of wine. We've got a
- 9:37Speaker 4: coffee basket. One of our board of directors has done
- 9:39Speaker 4: a coffee basket. So we've got some nice raffle baskets too.
- 9:44Speaker 4: And then of course everybody loves a fifty to fifty drawing. Yes,
- 9:47Speaker 4: of course, and we will be taking credit cards for
- 9:51Speaker 4: everything except the fifty to fifty drawing close. You know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: that's got to be a cash game, you can do that,
- 9:55Speaker 4: but cards are welcome. We'll have people there, you know,
- 9:59Speaker 4: with the technology to take credit card.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Man, that sounds like a great event. And again we're
- 10:04Speaker 2: talking about be bingos brunching bubbles. That is to benefit
- 10:07Speaker 2: Daymark Co presented by Moses Auto Groups. So we want
- 10:09Speaker 2: to make sure we give them a shout out because
- 10:11Speaker 2: they do a great job and helping you guys out. Yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 2: they're doing a good job and helping out with that.
- 10:15Speaker 2: This is going to be Saturday, April twenty fifth. That's
- 10:17Speaker 2: this coming Saturday at Little Creek Park Clubhouse. Doors open
- 10:20Speaker 2: at ten, is that right? In ten? That's with the
- 10:23Speaker 2: champagne and then the bingo is going to start at
- 10:26Speaker 2: eleven fifty dollars to get the ball rolling on this thing.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And weirdly, when you think about it, you're playing bingo,
- 10:31Speaker 2: you're getting your champagne, and you're benefiting just a fantastic cause.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I mean, that's about the bargain of the weekend. I
- 10:37Speaker 2: think as far as it goes as far as making
- 10:39Speaker 2: you feel.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Good, right, right, absolutely, absolutely.
- 10:41Speaker 2: That's definitely the way that it seems like to me.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm talking this morning to bestco Issue is the executive
- 10:47Speaker 2: director of Deymark, and just wrapping up our conversation with her,
- 10:50Speaker 2: talking about this great program that helps the youth here
- 10:52Speaker 2: that's in our area, and the program is going to
- 10:56Speaker 2: take place. We'll get more information. It's going to be
- 10:58Speaker 2: Saturday at ten o'clock. In case folks can't make it,
- 11:01Speaker 2: or if they want to find information out, where can
- 11:03Speaker 2: they get tickets? Where can they give your organization some
- 11:06Speaker 2: money if their heart's pulled a little bit, Where can
- 11:08Speaker 2: they find all of.
- 11:09Speaker 3: This at Well? Our website is really easy.
- 11:12Speaker 4: It's www dot daymark d A Y M A r K,
- 11:16Speaker 4: just like it sounds dot org. And you can go
- 11:19Speaker 4: on there and you can get tickets.
- 11:22Speaker 3: You can. The sponsorships are pretty.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Much closely I mean for that a little whit yea.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but we are taking donations from now till well forever.
- 11:34Speaker 4: You know, it doesn't have to be you know, you
- 11:36Speaker 4: can give a donation next week or next month.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to be a sponsor. I mean,
- 11:40Speaker 2: unfortunately you maybe miss the deadline this time, but you
- 11:42Speaker 2: can still give the sponsor money absolutely, you know that's okay,
- 11:45Speaker 2: there's nothing wrong with that, So you can do that
- 11:46Speaker 2: by daymark dot org. That easy. Daymark dot org is
- 11:49Speaker 2: where you can find all that information. Again, it's going
- 11:52Speaker 2: to be Bingo Brunch and Bubbles that is coming up
- 11:54Speaker 2: at Little Creek Park Clubhouse in South Charleston. That's going
- 11:58Speaker 2: to be this Saturday. Doors open it ten with brunch
- 12:01Speaker 2: and some champagne and then Bingo's going to start at eleven.
- 12:03Speaker 2: It's fifty dollars for about the best darn cause that

- 16:09Speaker 2: environment because what you don't know can hurt you. Five
- 16:12Speaker 2: eighty Love whs the voice of Charleston welcoming into the studio.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Friend of the program, John Ingram Has, a musician, has
- 16:19Speaker 2: joined us this morning. John, how are you doing this morning?
- 16:20Speaker 12: Doing pretty good? You know I've been My schedule is
- 16:25Speaker 12: a little bit different this week than was expected, but hey,
- 16:29Speaker 12: we we we're making it with.
- 16:32Speaker 2: John of course, with Fletcher's Grove. Was going to have
- 16:33Speaker 2: the big after party Billy Strings show last last night,
- 16:36Speaker 2: right last night. Unfortunately, Billy a little bit of a
- 16:40Speaker 2: skateboarding accident. Things happen when you're when you're an active
- 16:43Speaker 2: when you're an active person, you.
- 16:45Speaker 12: Know, Yeah, I guess Saturday in Charlottesville, Billy Strings, who
- 16:48Speaker 12: had a sold out show planned for last night at
- 16:51Speaker 12: the Coliseum, decided to do a backside one eight in
- 16:55Speaker 12: between the final song of the second set and the
- 16:57Speaker 12: encore and took a little spill, took a little bump
- 17:01Speaker 12: on the head and a broken two broken bones in
- 17:04Speaker 12: his ankle. So you know, guess what, that show last
- 17:07Speaker 12: night got rescheduled.
- 17:09Speaker 2: So so that that is that is unfortunate. However, it
- 17:12Speaker 2: has been scheduled, and I'd like to thank them for
- 17:14Speaker 2: this for my birthday, which is all this for us. Yes,
- 17:16Speaker 2: so we did that on purpose, Yeah, I thought so,
- 17:18Speaker 2: I figured that was probably the case, which means that
- 17:20Speaker 2: you also get a new after party date.
- 17:21Speaker 1: That's correct.
- 17:22Speaker 12: Yeah, And we get a few more months of runway
- 17:24Speaker 12: to help sell some some advanced tickets, which is you know,
- 17:28Speaker 12: that's fine. Silver linings, right, yeah, right, right, yeah, you
- 17:31Speaker 12: know it's unfortunate, but hey, you've got to take yourself.
- 17:34Speaker 12: You got to take care of yourself. He's got to
- 17:36Speaker 12: get healed up and do the right thing. And hey,
- 17:38Speaker 12: we'll be here when he's ready to come back.
- 17:40Speaker 2: And of course you have your own band. You brought
- 17:41Speaker 2: me an album this morning as well, which which I'm
- 17:44Speaker 2: extraordinarily looking forward to. I appreciate that very much. And
- 17:47Speaker 2: I love your I love your artwork. Work.
- 17:48Speaker 12: Don't tell Allan and Weekly and you know they're gonna
- 17:51Speaker 12: expect it so mad. I can't tell I got them one, which.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Dave I mean, I mean Dave Weekly day a Weekly
- 17:58Speaker 2: will get so mad. He's such a vinyl head, he'll
- 18:00Speaker 2: get absolutely back. I got one for him too. Okay, Okay,
- 18:03Speaker 2: he'll be glad to hear that. But let's talk to you.
- 18:06Speaker 2: You were talking a little bit about your Sunday show.
- 18:07Speaker 2: So you do have a Sunday show coming up this
- 18:09Speaker 2: week at the Glass at the Empty Glass. And first
- 18:13Speaker 2: of all, I'm a fan. I really like the kind
- 18:15Speaker 2: of music that you choose to do. You kind of
- 18:18Speaker 2: the stuff you do both originally and the stuff that
- 18:19Speaker 2: you choose to cover walk me through a show on
- 18:22Speaker 2: a glass Sunday? What kind of show were we going
- 18:23Speaker 2: to expect?
- 18:23Speaker 12: So, yeah, this is a kind of an interesting thing.
- 18:25Speaker 12: It's gonna be on Sunday evening and I'm calling it
- 18:28Speaker 12: never miss a Sunday show, which is a popular turn
- 18:31Speaker 12: of phrase in the gym and rock community, you know,
- 18:34Speaker 12: because cool things happen on Sundays when people are like, oh,
- 18:36Speaker 12: you know, what am I going to do tonight? And
- 18:38Speaker 12: then you go and you're like, oh, man, I didn't
- 18:39Speaker 12: realize it was going to be this barn burner rock show.
- 18:41Speaker 12: So anyway, we're hoping to do these things the last
- 18:44Speaker 12: Sunday of the month periodically throughout the year and get
- 18:47Speaker 12: some friends in from other you know, parts of the
- 18:50Speaker 12: region that I like and just are into. So this
- 18:53Speaker 12: this Sunday, the band Bedford from Lexington's going to open
- 18:56Speaker 12: up the show and then John Ingram band wills it out.
- 19:00Speaker 12: You know, we we're fans of Little Feet, fans of
- 19:04Speaker 12: the band, fans of you know, the Grateful Debt of
- 19:07Speaker 12: the Almond Brothers. Are would be into what we do.
- 19:10Speaker 12: I think, you know, it's it's kind of progressive blues
- 19:14Speaker 12: based psychedelic rock, you know what I mean. So I'm
- 19:17Speaker 12: trying to still figure out that elevator pitch for us
- 19:20Speaker 12: because we're pretty eclectic stylistically, but that's basically what it is.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Who do you like to play with? Who do you
- 19:24Speaker 2: have that comes along with you?
- 19:25Speaker 12: So my guitarist is Bud Carroll and he also does
- 19:29Speaker 12: some singing. He's been in the on the scene for
- 19:31Speaker 12: a long time and produced a lot of great records
- 19:34Speaker 12: and has a studio and so you know, he's he's
- 19:38Speaker 12: a mainstay in the band. Michael Davis on drums and cymbals,
- 19:42Speaker 12: believe it or not, multi talented, multi instrumentalists. Yeah, so
- 19:47Speaker 12: he's an amazing drummer here in the Charleston area. He'll
- 19:50Speaker 12: be He'll be as David Mayfield, our friend over at
- 19:54Speaker 12: Mountain Stage, says the man with the seat keeping the beat.
- 19:57Speaker 12: So and then Jordan Dyer, h really really talented young
- 20:01Speaker 12: keyboardist here in the valley as well, he'll be with us.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I'm always curious to I don't think Dave's asked you
- 20:08Speaker 2: this question. You've been on hotline a few times with
- 20:10Speaker 2: with Weekly, but I'm curious on not so much like
- 20:15Speaker 2: who your inspiration was once you decided you want to
- 20:17Speaker 2: be a musician. But what's the first music you remember hearing?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Like the first thing You're like, whoa, what was that?
- 20:22Speaker 12: Well, my mom's side of the family were musicians, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 12: more like southern gospel and country and bluegrass, old time
- 20:31Speaker 12: that kind of stuff. So I was around My grandfather
- 20:33Speaker 12: played pedal steel and you know, my uncle played banjo,
- 20:37Speaker 12: and my grandmother was a really kind of prolific singer
- 20:40Speaker 12: in the in the church world in Campbell's Creek, West Virginia.
- 20:43Speaker 12: So you know, I was around that music so much,
- 20:47Speaker 12: and at the time when I was a really young guy,
- 20:50Speaker 12: was it would kind of get on my nerves, you know,
- 20:52Speaker 12: the pedal steels firing and from the back room and
- 20:55Speaker 12: then and people were all singing stuff. Can again I
- 20:57Speaker 12: just watch my cartoons in peace. But then my later
- 21:00Speaker 12: I realized, Wow, what a gift that was to be
- 21:02Speaker 12: exposed to all that great music at such an early age.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Then sure I got.
- 21:06Speaker 12: Into rock and roll and you know, all that good stuff.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So uh. And as as somebody who performs live so much,
- 21:13Speaker 2: is there anybody that that is either that you've seen
- 21:18Speaker 2: that you want to go see again or that you
- 21:19Speaker 2: have a bucket list of somebody that you would love
- 21:21Speaker 2: to go see. Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 12: Actually Little Feeds out on the road right now doing
- 21:23Speaker 12: their last farewell tour, so you know, we'll see I.
- 21:28Speaker 12: You know, i'd missed them in Roanoke a couple like
- 21:30Speaker 12: a week or so ago. I've never seen them live,
- 21:33Speaker 12: seen members, you know, but that would be that would
- 21:36Speaker 12: be really cool, of course.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Lol. George is no longer with us, so I won't
- 21:39Speaker 2: be seeing him.
- 21:39Speaker 12: But you know, I'm a huge Fish fan, and so
- 21:42Speaker 12: I go try to see those guys, you know, once
- 21:45Speaker 12: a year whenever they get relatively close. But yeah, man,
- 21:49Speaker 12: I mean there are so many great acts out there
- 21:51Speaker 12: right now touring. Of course, Billy Strings, I've seen Billy.
- 21:56Speaker 12: We've done some shows like festivals together stuff caught him.
- 21:59Speaker 12: But that's so really hot taket right now, man, I
- 22:01Speaker 12: mean in fact that Charleston, these these folks are coming
- 22:04Speaker 12: to Charleston. Man says a lot about the scene here.
- 22:06Speaker 12: And you know what the coliseum's doing over there, bring
- 22:09Speaker 12: in drad act.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That's a great point. I couldn't believe the chatter after
- 22:12Speaker 2: I heard the like people talk, I didn't know the
- 22:15Speaker 2: sort of the parasocial relationship the Billy Strings fans had
- 22:19Speaker 2: with him, like you mentioned, sort of like the dead
- 22:21Speaker 2: and things along those lines. I was amazed once I
- 22:23Speaker 2: went online and started looking at this stuff, like when
- 22:25Speaker 2: it came to people looking for hotels, Airbnb's, places to stay,
- 22:28Speaker 2: places to eat, stuff like that. Suddenly there was like
- 22:30Speaker 2: an influx of all kinds of out of staters on
- 22:32Speaker 2: different social media trying to find places in Charleston to come.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Pretty cool.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it is cool.
- 22:36Speaker 12: I mean, it's a whole ecosystem, you know, like you said,
- 22:38Speaker 12: we were talking about it during the break and you know,
- 22:41Speaker 12: the heads and beds and all the people that go
- 22:44Speaker 12: out to the bars and restaurants and to the shops
- 22:46Speaker 12: and you know, they come and stay and bring their
- 22:49Speaker 12: people and it's a really cool thing. And you know,
- 22:51Speaker 12: so the implications of a reschedule have are far reaching,
- 22:55Speaker 12: you know, but that's that's the way it goes.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Looking forward to that though, But the John Gamer band
- 23:00Speaker 2: is going to be over the Empty Glass that's going
- 23:01Speaker 2: to be on Sunday. They say never miss a Sunday show, right,
- 23:04Speaker 2: that's right. So the Empty Glass that's at fourten Elizabeth
- 23:06Speaker 2: Street here in Charles and of course that's one of
- 23:08Speaker 2: the great places for music, well known in the city
- 23:10Speaker 2: of Charleston, so you can check check out John Ingram's
- 23:12Speaker 2: band over there this weekend. You're gonna start at nine o'clock. Yes,
- 23:15Speaker 2: nine o'clock.
- 23:16Speaker 12: We'll start pretty much right on time.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You know, it's a Sunday, so we want to make
- 23:20Speaker 2: sure we get you back in bed at or reasonable.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I want to work the next morning. Yeah, you know
- 23:24Speaker 2: if you want to call it that, no show up,
- 23:26Speaker 2: No johnn Ingram hangovers right right like the Super Bowl, John,
- 23:29Speaker 2: I appreciate you coming in man, thank you so much.
- 23:31Speaker 2: We look forward to the follow up show as well.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That's John Ingram, The John Ingram Band is going to
- 23:35Speaker 2: be after the Empty Glass. That's this weekend, Sunday, Sunday,
- 23:38Speaker 2: Sunday at nine o'clock. Never miss a Sunday show, So
- 23:42Speaker 2: you want to check that out when you can, and
- 23:43Speaker 2: don't forget August fourth. Stay tuned for this information. That's
- 23:46Speaker 2: sometime down the road now. But there'll be a reschedule
- 23:49Speaker 2: of the Billy Strings after party show as well, and

- 26:49Speaker 2: Coming up in just a few minutes, We're going to
- 26:51Speaker 2: talk to Jeff Jenkins or somebody from the newsroom and
- 26:54Speaker 2: we're gonna get we'll get a little bit of a
- 26:56Speaker 2: recap of what happened yesterday, and there's a lot of
- 26:58Speaker 2: news that's going to break over the tragedy that happened
- 27:01Speaker 2: here in the Conall Valley yesterday. There's a lot that's
- 27:03Speaker 2: going to happen today as well. There's a potential of
- 27:06Speaker 2: investigations that's going to be launched, press conferences, There's there's
- 27:09Speaker 2: a lot that's going on to follow this story. So
- 27:10Speaker 2: Jeff Jenkins is going to join us here in a
- 27:12Speaker 2: few minutes and we'll go we'll do a little bit
- 27:14Speaker 2: of a recap and take a look at what we
- 27:16Speaker 2: have that's coming up today to follow that story as
- 27:19Speaker 2: things go along. T J. Meadows will join me right
- 27:21Speaker 2: at the end of the program as well to tell
- 27:23Speaker 2: us what's going on on talk line today too. So
- 27:25Speaker 2: full day of programming as always right here on five
- 27:28Speaker 2: ad W CHS. I want to take just a second
- 27:30Speaker 2: to I got a phone call the other day that
- 27:32Speaker 2: I appreciated and I wanted to use that just for
- 27:35Speaker 2: a moment to explain a couple of things for those
- 27:37Speaker 2: of you that listened to the to the station. I
- 27:39Speaker 2: got a phone call last I think it was this week,
- 27:43Speaker 2: this this Monday, I believe a few days ago, and
- 27:45Speaker 2: it was someone who was appreciative of our programming, not
- 27:50Speaker 2: to toot our own horn, but this person had recently
- 27:54Speaker 2: started listening to more sports on the radio, which is
- 27:56Speaker 2: something that we carry here on five ad w CHS.
- 27:57Speaker 2: The gist of the program was that they had reevaluated
- 28:00Speaker 2: their streaming situations disconnected some streaming services. Jonathan was the
- 28:05Speaker 2: gentleman that called and that he was really appreciative of
- 28:07Speaker 2: the fact that he could listen to sports on the
- 28:09Speaker 2: radio like when he was at work or whatever it
- 28:11Speaker 2: might be, and he had no idea how much was
- 28:13Speaker 2: actually available just from my network at stations, which anymore
- 28:17Speaker 2: is WCCHS and fourteen ninety WSWW. So if that sounds
- 28:22Speaker 2: like something you're interested in as far as just what
- 28:24Speaker 2: sports are carried on these stations, you can check that
- 28:27Speaker 2: schedule at anytime. We have it at wchsnetwork dot com
- 28:30Speaker 2: slash sports. It looks sort of like an old TV
- 28:32Speaker 2: guid grid where you can go there and check on
- 28:34Speaker 2: the program just as sports. It doesn't have all of
- 28:36Speaker 2: our daily programming on there. There is a section of
- 28:38Speaker 2: our website that has that, but for the sports section,
- 28:41Speaker 2: it just tells you what special programming will be on.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So this is the stuff that preempts the normal everyday
- 28:47Speaker 2: programming that we have, and you can go there at
- 28:49Speaker 2: any time to see what we have that's coming up.
- 28:50Speaker 2: And I just wanted to give an example. If you
- 28:51Speaker 2: go to WCHS network dot com slash Sports number one,
- 28:54Speaker 2: you can click on any of the programs that show
- 28:56Speaker 2: up on there and you can add it to your calendar.
- 29:00Speaker 2: If there's a game coming up that you want to hear,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you can hit it and add it right to your calendar.
- 29:03Speaker 2: And just coming up, starting for tonight, for example, you
- 29:06Speaker 2: can find out that we have NHL Playoffs. That's something
- 29:09Speaker 2: new that I've done this year, I think for the
- 29:10Speaker 2: first time ever on our network of radio stations. Here,
- 29:13Speaker 2: we're carrying a little bit of the NHL Playoffs. That's
- 29:17Speaker 2: going to be over on fourteen ninety WSWW tonight. It's
- 29:20Speaker 2: Buffalo at Boston. That's going to start at seven o'clock
- 29:22Speaker 2: at Carl Lee's show. Let's Talk with Carl Lee will
- 29:24Speaker 2: be at seven o'clock tonight right here on five ADWCHS
- 29:27Speaker 2: with special guest Major Harris. Major Harris will be one
- 29:30Speaker 2: with Carl Lee tonight at seven and that's going to
- 29:32Speaker 2: take us right into our draft coverage NFL Draft coverage
- 29:34Speaker 2: right here on five ADWCCHS tonight, that's going to be
- 29:37Speaker 2: at eight o'clock, so Carl Lee, former NFL All Pro,
- 29:40Speaker 2: with Major Harris leading into the NFL Draft coverage tonight
- 29:43Speaker 2: at eight. Cincinnati Reds are off today after losing the
- 29:47Speaker 2: first time in a while yesterday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 29:49Speaker 2: They're going to open up a homestand tomorrow against the
- 29:52Speaker 2: Detroit Tigers, and that's going to be at six forty
- 29:55Speaker 2: right here on five eighty WCHS. Tomorrow at six on
- 29:58Speaker 2: ESPN on fourteen ninety WS doo WW will be the
- 30:01Speaker 2: second day of the NFL Draft. And then on Saturday
- 30:04Speaker 2: we have more Cincinnati Reds baseball. We have NFL Draft
- 30:08Speaker 2: Day three, as well as NBA playoffs Denver Nuggets at
- 30:11Speaker 2: the Minnesota timber Wolves. So that's Saturday on the Suite
- 30:15Speaker 2: of stations, and then on Sunday even even more sports action.
- 30:19Speaker 2: We have Cincinnati Reds baseball yet again, NBA playoff San
- 30:21Speaker 2: Antonio Spurs at the Portland Trailblazers, and we have Sunday
- 30:24Speaker 2: Night baseball the Angels at the Royals, and a replay

- 35:17Speaker 2: What an absolutely just a busy day yesterday on the
- 35:22Speaker 2: tragedy day that we had here in the Canawll Valley. Jeff,
- 35:23Speaker 2: good morning, Yeah, good morning, Coop.
- 35:25Speaker 19: So the update is that the crews are back on
- 35:30Speaker 19: the scene, so they're back at at the plant there
- 35:34Speaker 19: and just give some people some context, and we did
- 35:36Speaker 19: we tried to do this yesterday. It's you know, people
- 35:40Speaker 19: might know where the Bear plant is what's commonly referred
- 35:44Speaker 19: to because that's the big one you see as you
- 35:46Speaker 19: come off the Institute exit and you kind of just
- 35:48Speaker 19: kind of look over there if you if you take
- 35:52Speaker 19: a right to your left before Gulf Mountain Road, but
- 35:55Speaker 19: beyond that there's still a lot of chemical property kind
- 35:59Speaker 19: of in that straight that way. I think of it
- 36:01Speaker 19: as that straight stretch on twenty five before you get
- 36:03Speaker 19: to Nitro, and it's in it's that plant is in
- 36:07Speaker 19: that property to your left if you're heading toward Nitro. Uh,
- 36:14Speaker 19: this plant that had the that was being decommissioned. That
- 36:17Speaker 19: where the chemical reaction happened yesterday. You know Route twenty
- 36:22Speaker 19: five is it's Nitros. You know they patrol that and
- 36:25Speaker 19: that's in the city of Nitro. But you know the
- 36:28Speaker 19: land I know the company lists their address as Nitro.
- 36:32Speaker 19: It's kind of in that Institute Nitro area. But anyway,
- 36:36Speaker 19: so they're back there today, the EPs there, CANNAW kind
- 36:40Speaker 19: of emergency management's there because they're still there securing the scene,
- 36:46Speaker 19: checking out air quality, those type of things. Of course,
- 36:50Speaker 19: the shelter and place were lifted yesterday afternoon. But and
- 36:54Speaker 19: because there's going to be some investigations, you've got OSHA
- 36:57Speaker 19: is investigating. I've been in contact today with the US
- 37:00Speaker 19: Chemical Safety Board and we'll be hearing formerly from US
- 37:05Speaker 19: Chemical Safety Board later today that they are starting an investigation,
- 37:09Speaker 19: which is not that unusual. We've had unfortunately chemical emergencies
- 37:15Speaker 19: here in the Kanal Valley before that involved death that
- 37:19Speaker 19: US ce Chemical Safety Board have investigation, so they'll be investigating.
- 37:24Speaker 19: They'll still send the team to the scene and start
- 37:26Speaker 19: an investigation. So we're looking for that. And we still
- 37:31Speaker 19: don't have the name. The names haven't been released of
- 37:34Speaker 19: the two workers who died and one who remains in
- 37:37Speaker 19: critical condition in connection with what happened.
- 37:41Speaker 2: You're aware of is there any is there any background
- 37:45Speaker 2: fact that we're still waiting for. As far as we
- 37:47Speaker 2: know the chemical, right, we know that basically the reaction.
- 37:50Speaker 2: We know the chemical, we know the symptoms or sort
- 37:53Speaker 2: of what happened to the victims of this. Is there
- 37:56Speaker 2: anything that we're kind of waiting for there to populate
- 37:58Speaker 2: or is it now we kind of have that information
- 38:00Speaker 2: and we're waiting for investigations to take place and the
- 38:03Speaker 2: rest of the information to come out.
- 38:04Speaker 19: I think it's that. I think it's that. I think
- 38:06Speaker 19: that it sounds like the d EP wants to be
- 38:08Speaker 19: very you know, extra careful about, you know, the scene
- 38:11Speaker 19: and what happened there, because that was a very toxic
- 38:15Speaker 19: honestly combination of chemicals and uh and it appears if
- 38:22Speaker 19: you take what c W. Sigmund said, the Canaw County
- 38:24Speaker 19: Emergency Management Director and others, that these workers who were closest,
- 38:30Speaker 19: closest to where they were decommissioning this tank were overcome
- 38:35Speaker 19: immediately and it basically like takes your breath away, you know,
- 38:40Speaker 19: in a in a chemical way, it attacks your lungs.
- 38:45Speaker 19: And so that's why the CPR you know, was you know,
- 38:49Speaker 19: because there were there were problems immediately, and so you
- 38:54Speaker 19: had workers who pulled them out. You had nitro firefighters
- 38:58Speaker 19: arriving on the scene very quickly, Institute for firefighters, and
- 39:00Speaker 19: they started those life saving measures. They started CPR, uh
- 39:05Speaker 19: and so and again there were there were two deaths
- 39:09Speaker 19: and the one person in critical condition. Then you had
- 39:12Speaker 19: the the seven ambulance crew members who were exposed and
- 39:16Speaker 19: had to be decontaminated.
- 39:17Speaker 11: And uh.
- 39:18Speaker 19: Overall there were there were I think twenty one uh
- 39:21Speaker 19: that was the number that was given by you know
- 39:24Speaker 19: they had that were hospitalized. And I'm not sure that's
- 39:26Speaker 19: a firm number, cause some you had some community members
- 39:29Speaker 19: that went to the hospital on their own just because
- 39:33Speaker 19: they were having I think itchy eyes and maybe some
- 39:35Speaker 19: respiratory issues and those type of things that lived nearby. So,
- 39:40Speaker 19: but it appeared, and I've reached out to the hospitals
- 39:42Speaker 19: again to see if anybody was kept overnight, if we
- 39:45Speaker 19: can get any of that information in what their conditions are.
- 39:50Speaker 2: I had had a couple of text messages coming in.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I don't know if we can get to the bottom
- 39:53Speaker 2: of these answers, but I'll try the best that we can.
- 39:54Speaker 2: So some folks do have answers. I heard the emergency
- 39:57Speaker 2: sirens yesterday, but couldn't find out why until I heard
- 40:00Speaker 2: about the chemical emergency on the radio. Thank you for
- 40:02Speaker 2: listening about ten minutes later. Why didn't we hear any
- 40:05Speaker 2: sirens or as it was.
- 40:08Speaker 19: Just they targeted the sirens just for from one understand
- 40:13Speaker 19: and and you know Knaw County has a lot of sirens,
- 40:18Speaker 19: and but they can also section them off just to
- 40:21Speaker 19: the places that are in the area of concern. Okay,
- 40:25Speaker 19: so you you may have they c W. Siegmund said
- 40:31Speaker 19: during yesterday's news conference that they he called it the
- 40:35Speaker 19: western area. The western area of the county is where
- 40:38Speaker 19: they set the sirens off for because it was again
- 40:40Speaker 19: it was a precautionary shelter in place. It was precautionary.
- 40:44Speaker 19: It was a one mile radius shelter in place. And
- 40:47Speaker 19: they said pretty quickly that the chemical was contained to
- 40:51Speaker 19: the plant area. Okay, so it wasn't. I don't think
- 40:55Speaker 19: they felt that. You know, again, it was precautionary. It
- 40:58Speaker 19: was a one mile radius and it was only kind
- 41:01Speaker 19: of those areas that got it. So I think that
- 41:03Speaker 19: the sirens would go off in Institute, Dumbar, South Charlo,
- 41:06Speaker 19: I know, Spring the spring Hill section of South Charleston
- 41:10Speaker 19: got you know, the Saint Albans, you know, those areas Nitro,
- 41:15Speaker 19: those areas had the had the sirens go off. You know,
- 41:18Speaker 19: we didn't hear it here in downtown Charleston at all, Right,
- 41:21Speaker 19: But those areas west heard the sirens, and I think
- 41:25Speaker 19: they can sec they can. They can section those off
- 41:28Speaker 19: the areas that really need to hear it, and that's
- 41:30Speaker 19: that's the decision they made. I know some people got
- 41:32Speaker 19: there were alerts on phones, there were phone calls. I
- 41:36Speaker 19: talked to a lady last night who got a phone call,
- 41:38Speaker 19: a physical phone call.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Uh.
- 41:40Speaker 19: But again they can target those too. So you may say, well,
- 41:43Speaker 19: I live, you know, on the hill in Saint Albans
- 41:46Speaker 19: up Core River Road or whatever, and I didn't get
- 41:48Speaker 19: a phone call. Well, I think that's outside the area
- 41:50Speaker 19: they were concerned about. This lady I talked to who
- 41:52Speaker 19: lived in Dunbar. She got a phone call.
- 41:54Speaker 2: So I guess I's similar to how the utility companies
- 41:56Speaker 2: can target you when you have like when you're in
- 41:58Speaker 2: the area of repair or something. They and they know
- 42:00Speaker 2: the area by zip or something, They know the people
- 42:03Speaker 2: that they need to get a hold of it and
- 42:04Speaker 2: how to do that. Yeah, now that that's pretty interesting stuff.
- 42:07Speaker 2: One last question. I'll get you out of here because
- 42:08Speaker 2: I know you need to get back to the news.
- 42:09Speaker 2: We have stuff going on. We had enough text message,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and this is something that that that's kind of memory
- 42:14Speaker 2: based for me. You'll you'll remember this a lot more
- 42:16Speaker 2: concern from the threes are a four four three seven
- 42:18Speaker 2: that we didn't know what chemicals that were, that we
- 42:20Speaker 2: didn't have confirmation of the chemicals until this morning. Is
- 42:23Speaker 2: that kind of a case by case thing. I think
- 42:24Speaker 2: that that that's not always the case.
- 42:26Speaker 19: C WE Sigma said what the chemicals were yesterday?
- 42:29Speaker 2: He did it. Okay, that was okay.
- 42:31Speaker 19: In the three o'clock media briefing. Okay, he said what
- 42:34Speaker 19: the chemicals were, and I don't have it right in front.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Right, But that's pretty quick turn around though, I
- 42:39Speaker 2: mean that that's like within hours.
- 42:40Speaker 19: Right, Yeah, he had he had, you know, and they
- 42:42Speaker 19: said really early. Chris Lawrence talked to CW at the
- 42:46Speaker 19: scene as he's arriving at the scene and he had
- 42:49Speaker 19: been at the scene that there's a very very brief
- 42:51Speaker 19: conversation yesterday about ten o'clock and CW, you said it
- 42:55Speaker 19: was acid. There was an acid base.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Right, that's right. I remember us talking about that. Yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 19: So and then then he did mention the two chemicals,
- 43:03Speaker 19: the two main chemicals. But again, all that's going to
- 43:06Speaker 19: all that will be all that will come out Chemical
- 43:10Speaker 19: Safety Board. They'll do an exhaustive investigation, and most of
- 43:13Speaker 19: the time they'll they'll have a hearing. They'll come they'll
- 43:16Speaker 19: come here and have a hearing, especially after their findings.
- 43:20Speaker 19: They'll have a hearing and explain exactly what happened, you know,
- 43:23Speaker 19: after they've done their investigation. So there'll be there'll be
- 43:27Speaker 19: a lot more to come on this down the road,
- 43:29Speaker 19: down the road, and we're hoping to hear again from
- 43:30Speaker 19: the company, and they've been you know, we had some
- 43:33Speaker 19: conversations with the company late yesterday and they were they
- 43:36Speaker 19: were they didn't want to do like an on air interview,
- 43:39Speaker 19: but they were pretty open about answering some questions that
- 43:41Speaker 19: they could, and so they did and they were able
- 43:44Speaker 19: to confirm a couple of things. And we've reached back
- 43:46Speaker 19: out to them today and hopefully we'll get more some
- 43:49Speaker 19: more information.
- 43:50Speaker 2: No no heart schedule of anything today as far as
- 43:52Speaker 2: press releases or anything like that goes though, or press conferences.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I mean, okay, very good. So I think that gets
- 43:57Speaker 2: you caught up to date on where we are in
- 43:58Speaker 2: the Kennaugh Valley as far as this goes. That it's
- 44:00Speaker 2: of course, it's an ongoing story now, so that's something
- 44:02Speaker 2: that we'll be following as some of these other details
- 44:05Speaker 2: come to light over the course over the next days
- 44:06Speaker 2: of weeks and probably months, as things start to unwind
- 44:09Speaker 2: on that. Jeff, I appreciate the time and all the reporting.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I know that it's what we do, but it's important
- 44:13Speaker 2: to get the information out there. Thanks a lot, Jeff,
- 44:15Speaker 2: Jeff Jenkins from the WCCHS and the Metro News newsroom.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Let's do this. Let's take one more break. We have
- 44:20Speaker 2: a Reds Hall of Fame feature. We'll play here real
- 44:22Speaker 2: quick and then we'll come back. I'll talk to TJ.

- 44:25Speaker 2: big show, and talk lin that's coming up next. You're

- 44:33Speaker 9: This Hall of Fame moment highlights the beginning of a
- 44:36Speaker 9: Hall of Fame career and a major milestone for a
- 44:40Speaker 9: Hall of Famer. Thursday, April fourth, nineteen seventy four, found
- 44:44Speaker 9: the city of Cincinnati in a celebratory mood. It was
- 44:48Speaker 9: opening day and the Big Red machine was primed and
- 44:52Speaker 9: ready for a new season.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But on this day, the.
- 44:54Speaker 9: Spotlight would shine on one of the greatest home run
- 44:58Speaker 9: hitters the game had ever known. And there to describe
- 45:01Speaker 9: the action was a young broadcaster starting a career that
- 45:05Speaker 9: would see him calling Reds games in five different decades.
- 45:09Speaker 20: Seal shaded around toward left of Aaron Stilling handled a pause.
- 45:13Speaker 17: The three to one.
- 45:13Speaker 20: Pitch swung on long shot at the deep left field.
- 45:17Speaker 6: Roses back and that ball is gone.
- 45:19Speaker 20: Hey, hold on, Henry Aaron has just tied bab Ruth
- 45:24Speaker 20: home run record of seven hundred and fourteen with a
- 45:28Speaker 20: club over a three seventy five marker in left field.
- 45:32Speaker 20: The Raids are piling out of the dugout. The crowd
- 45:34Speaker 20: is on its feet in mass here at Riverbrush Stadium.
- 45:38Speaker 9: Henry Aaron would break Ruth's record four days later in
- 45:41Speaker 9: Atlanta and finish his career with seven hundred and fifty five.
- 45:45Speaker 9: Marty Brenneman would be the voice of the Reds for
- 45:48Speaker 9: forty six seasons, becoming a Cincinnati icon. This Hall of
- 45:53Speaker 9: Fame moment is brought to you by Western and Southern

- 47:25Speaker 2: Metdows will join me here in probably in a couple
- 47:27Speaker 2: of minutes. I think he got busy there at the
- 47:28Speaker 2: last second, but we'll talk about what's going to take
- 47:31Speaker 2: place on talk Line today. Just to give you an
- 47:33Speaker 2: idea of across the programming we're going to have later
- 47:37Speaker 2: on today on Hotline, the program that I do in
- 47:40Speaker 2: the afternoons with Dave Weekly. Today on our Thursday program,
- 47:43Speaker 2: Jermaine Lucier will be back. He has been at some
- 47:46Speaker 2: cinema conventions the last couple of weeks. He's going to
- 47:49Speaker 2: have a lot of great stuff to talk about. When
- 47:51Speaker 2: Jermaine comes back. We're also going to have Larry Gross
- 47:53Speaker 2: will be in the studio today we'll talk about Mountain
- 47:56Speaker 2: Stage and Jim Workman from Wally and Wimpy's will be
- 47:58Speaker 2: with us as well. That will be the five o'clock
- 48:00Speaker 2: hour today, So that's going to be coming up this
- 48:02Speaker 2: afternoon at three or six on Metro News Hotline, and
- 48:05Speaker 2: we have DJ Meadows from hot from talk Line in
- 48:07Speaker 2: studio with me as well. Big Show coming up here
- 48:09Speaker 2: in about ten minutes on the network. How you doing today?
- 48:11Speaker 1: TJ.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Good Dale? How are you not bad? Man? Not bad?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Just filling in for Dave Allen. What's going on on
- 48:16Speaker 2: the Big Show today?
- 48:17Speaker 21: So coming up, we'll start with Kanah County Commissioned President
- 48:20Speaker 21: Ben Slingo, talk about yesterday, get the latest information, what
- 48:24Speaker 21: if anything new have we learned overnight, and continue to
- 48:27Speaker 21: follow that terrible and tragic accident that happened in the
- 48:30Speaker 21: Canau Valley yesterday. Jared Halprin of Fox News with the
- 48:33Speaker 21: latest from the White House, the Trump administration and Iran.
- 48:36Speaker 21: You know, the President saying now telling the navy, if
- 48:39Speaker 21: you see boats in the Strait trying to drop mines,
- 48:42Speaker 21: destroy them. So the antie seems to be uping there
- 48:45Speaker 21: even as we start and continue to try to talk
- 48:48Speaker 21: peace and figure out what we're going to do with Iran.
- 48:50Speaker 21: We'll have the latest from Washington. Amelia Nicely has just
- 48:53Speaker 21: a stunning piece today in West Virginia watch talking about CPS,
- 48:57Speaker 21: talking about this program that the state funded yet was
- 49:00Speaker 21: never implemented. She'll be here at ten thirty to talk
- 49:02Speaker 21: about that. I mean, it's truly astounding and quite frankly,
- 49:05Speaker 21: very troubled.
- 49:06Speaker 2: When I read that yesterday, literally my jaw dropped, like
- 49:09Speaker 2: I was like, are you kidding me? Yeah, it's just
- 49:14Speaker 2: and such a known problem too.
- 49:16Speaker 21: It's not like this isn't something that the state has
- 49:18Speaker 21: been struggling with for a long time. We continue to
- 49:21Speaker 21: struggle with it, and we continue to get worse at
- 49:23Speaker 21: it rather than getting better. And when you talk about
- 49:26Speaker 21: spending what was it just shy of three hundred thousand
- 49:28Speaker 21: dollars for this program and then never implementing it, huge
- 49:31Speaker 21: red flag.
- 49:32Speaker 2: That's yeah, that's pretty incredible. So Amelia will be on
- 49:34Speaker 2: the program as well.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 21: Hobby at eleven oh six up with his commentary. He's
- 49:38Speaker 21: got some thoughts on registration people moving to Republican, people
- 49:41Speaker 21: moving to independent, what does it mean for the upcoming
- 49:45Speaker 21: primary as well as.
- 49:46Speaker 2: The general election?
- 49:47Speaker 21: And then US Senate candidate Alex Gasserud at eleven thirty
- 49:51Speaker 21: three will join the show. One of the things we're
- 49:53Speaker 21: trying to do deal is interview all candidates for federal
- 49:57Speaker 21: office on both sides, so all the Dems, all the
- 50:00Speaker 21: Republicans that are running any independence, do that for Congress, Senate,
- 50:04Speaker 21: do that for all the state Supreme Court races as
- 50:07Speaker 21: well as the intermediate Court, and be able to have
- 50:09Speaker 21: a collection of those available at the website so people
- 50:12Speaker 21: can go back and be able to listen to those
- 50:14Speaker 21: interviews and hopefully inform them as we come up on
- 50:17Speaker 21: this primary and.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Be of value.
- 50:19Speaker 21: I guess to our listeners if they want to hear
- 50:20Speaker 21: more directly from the candidates as they make their decisions
- 50:23Speaker 21: coming up on the twelfth.
- 50:24Speaker 2: I always have to point out the important thing with that.
- 50:26Speaker 2: With the business that we do on talk Line and
- 50:29Speaker 2: that you and Dave do is talk Line and all
- 50:32Speaker 2: of Metro News. Really it's it's a West Virginia company
- 50:35Speaker 2: bringing West Virginia news about West Virginia candidates. Yes, so
- 50:38Speaker 2: this is a lot different than what you're going to
- 50:40Speaker 2: get in other places. It's the only twenty four it's
- 50:43Speaker 2: the only statewide West Virginia originated news network that there is,
- 50:47Speaker 2: and so we bring in the hometown news and that's
- 50:49Speaker 2: that's what you need to.
- 50:50Speaker 21: That's what you need and hopefully that's what you can
- 50:52Speaker 21: use when you go into a voting booth and get
- 50:54Speaker 21: beyond some of these mailers that we see, which are
- 50:56Speaker 21: frankly just ridiculous.
- 50:57Speaker 2: They're mail from DC. They're not mailed from your body
- 50:59Speaker 2: down the street. They're milt from DC.
- 51:02Speaker 21: They're just so off the wall and so unbelievable that
- 51:04Speaker 21: it's just did someone pay money for that?
- 51:07Speaker 2: Yes? They did, and it's pretty bad. TJ. Thanks for
- 51:09Speaker 2: what you're doing and we're looking for the show coming
- 51:10Speaker 2: up here. You mony appreciate you. Thanks a lot, man.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Thats TJ. Meadows coming up with Dave Wilson on talk
- 51:14Speaker 2: Line coming up here in just about seven minutes now
- 51:17Speaker 2: on the network at WV Metro News, w Metro News
- 51:20Speaker 2: dot com, on YouTube Metro News TV, and on Facebook.
- 51:23Speaker 2: You can see the thing everywhere now. It's taking over
- 51:25Speaker 2: the world. That's gonna do it for us. Dave Allen
- 51:27Speaker 2: will be back tomorrow and we'll usher you into the weekend.
- 51:30Speaker 2: I'll be back this afternoon at three oh six for Hotline.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Dave will also be back for midday this afternoon at
- 51:36Speaker 2: three or at twelve oh six. Have a gret Day.
