Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: The mission for me is I want more businesses to be debt-free.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: I genuinely think that this can be a big catalyst to close the wealth gap if we simply had more access to capital than we had if dead.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of dreams died and a lot of people make excuses, a lot of people who kill their dreams by just working in a farm.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think the easiest way for someone to start to go for a grant opportunity is simply by having a mission that leads to money.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Grants are simply just debt-free money infused into a business to be able to support a particular mission.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_02]: If you can showcase a little bit of traction in your business, your mission, you already have something that's viable to get great money.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: With is your marketing, with that problem?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's what intrigued me the most.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Their genius, though.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: The change that happened to me is when I got silent and I was in my Brooklyn apartment with no furniture, letting God tell me what to do and that literally was the shift.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was the legacy of Stormy Bings.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Fifty years from now, it's talking about story banks, what are they saying about her?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: I hope they're not talking about me in 50 years.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: I hope the only thing that resides is that.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, wait, wait, wait, wait, I know you want to watch this next video, but listen.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you are an entrepreneur, business coach, business consultant, or a small business owner who has a story, and wants to learn how to create multiple strings of income from your story, I need you to text me right now, my book.

- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: That is my personal number.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have been an author for over 12 years, I've written 10 books, four of them have been best sellers, and I've sold over 100,000 books, but I've also helped a lot of my clients, take their expertise and put it into a story, then create multiple streams of income from that.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I wanna help you do the same thing.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: So text my book to six, four, six, six, eight, seven, four, one, five, two.

- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so welcome to another awesome episode of Inside The Vault with Ashcat.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: The greatest money money say show on a planet.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Today we are talking about the most over and with money plays in the game.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about free money you earned me correctly.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about millions of dollars that most entrepreneurs don't even know they qualify for.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: And our guest today has mastered the art of getting it.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Stormy Banks aka the Queen of Brance is the CEO a founder of the Pink Point phone.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: And she's helped small businesses to start up secure over $21 million in grants.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not loans, not investors, real money that never has to be paid back.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: She's the plug for entrepreneurs who want to fund their dreams without growing growth.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Her strategies have changed the game for minority-owned businesses and created its
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: they didn't have access from writing running proposals to helping company structure their business model for scale, storming and showing people how to position themselves to attract money instead of chasing it.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we are unlocking the secrets of government money, corporate money, and community money, and learning how to tap into the bag that's been sitting there the whole time.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Family, let's buckle up.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is about to be one of the most valuable conversations we've ever had or inside the world.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Let's welcome the great queen herself, Ms. Stormy.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for having me.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to get right to the money right I want to get right to the money, but I do want to give you give give you flowers first of foremost, but then also, you know, I want you to tell the world who you know who stormy banks is, but.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that, I want to say maybe three, three, four years ago.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe three years where I came across what you were doing, and I've just been fascinated by who you are, by your growth, by your, you know, how you make sure the people understand that this stuff is available to them, this money is available to them.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I appreciate how you make it your mission to get entrepreneurs access to capital, right, because I think that a lot of dreams die because they don't have enough money to, you know, to to make the, you know, to to make to fill their dream.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people make excuses, a lot of people kill their dreams by just working in nine to five not not not that there's not wrong with it, but they're like I'm just going to do this thing over here instead of just you know doing this dream that I was given, but you like a really intentional about that.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate that about you, but let's just start there like for those who don't know who's doing me best.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you for giving me those flowers.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea that you felt that way.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: So that's lovely to hear this morning or this afternoon.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: I get asked this question on every podcast and I have no way to answer that ash like it's like I'm everything and nothing you know I don't really have like these direct ways to explain to someone this is exactly who I am with all these different ways to give you you know I'm an entrepreneur and there's not a lot of labels that I'm going to put on myself anymore because I've done that in the past and it doesn't serve me.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: So right now, I'm just here.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm showing up and I'm going to give whatever I have to give that's on my heart Mind and that's who you're going to see me and that's why I am right now and that and that's a That's like a that's a profound answer honestly because it's funny I mean, this is just and I bet I told you I just told you this offline that I was like man You will mommy show much of myself right because
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I had this big personality on line people looking my stuff or whatever, but I'm really like I just do the work You know, and I just do was necessary and that's an answer that that's actually why before so I don't want to So mess, but a lot of people weren't putting the IMs before the name, right and when when I came up with my brand People would ask me like you're who are you and I'll be like I am asked guys.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I said like I didn't want I didn't like labels either
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: because I felt like, no, I'm everything, right?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm a financial educator, I'm a, you know, husband.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a father, I'm like, you know, I'm a son.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm all of these things or whatever.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a business consultant.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a, you know, recidivism activist.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I do all of these things.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: And so I don't want, don't put me in a bucket.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I am as cash, which is why my, my, my, my,
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: My name became I am as cash on all social media platforms.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: My website was I am as cash because I just wanted you, you know, I was like, y'all, my motivation to speak or two.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you know, so it's, it's an as cash is sort of answer, but I appreciate that because again,
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: you know, we are all multifaceted and you know at any moment, you know, we could be, you know, we could be, do a have, whatever we decide at that moment.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go, let's go to the money, right?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: So you've helped entrepreneurs secure over $21 million in grants.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: How does someone listening right now get a piece of that for?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: So that pie is way more vast than what I've even accomplished.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's billions of dollars in grant opportunities that go missed out on on federal corporate local levels all the time.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think the easiest way for someone to start to go for grant opportunities is simply by having a mission that leads to money.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: Having a mission that leads to money allows you the opportunity to sell the mission, right?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Because a lot of people think of grants like a pill grant or a school grant they've gotten through like school or or, you know, even, you know, the grants that they give out for like homes that you may need.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: But this isn't something that you're doing because you're in need.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people think of grants of like, oh, I'm in need and it's a desperation thing.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: No, this is an opportunity to grow into scale.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so you have to actually incentivize the other party to want to be a part of what you're doing.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: And the easiest way in American society to get people on board is by having money or showing that there's a viable product that can lead to having money.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: Easiest way to do that is with traction.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: you can show traction many ways right revenue of course if you're a small business owner a nonprofit have you made any dollars has it made any sense or have you created a weightless to showcase that there's people in the pipeline.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: that will pay money for what you're doing, or have you been able to generate any kind of presales for what you're doing.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: If you can showcase a little bit of traction in your business, your mission, you already have something that's viable to get grant money.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love that.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that distinction because it's true, right?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Is that I think a lot of people don't equate.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: entrepreneurship with grant because they feel like grant grants are for people who are in need, right?
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: The first time home buyer's grant or like you say like a proud grant, you know, I can't afford school, so I need to I need money to be able to do that.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: But no, there are grants available for people who are, you know, mission based who have a mission.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I mean, I guess that comes to my second question where a lot of people think that grants are just for nonprofits, can you break down that myth and explain how a full profit business can tap in?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: The understanding has to come from what our grants even, right?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: Grants are simply just debt-free money infused into a business to be able to support a particular mission, right?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: And even with nonprofits, nonprofits have to make money.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: People think that nonprofits are just like, donate, donate, no, you have to have services or render products or you have to have money coming in to be able to support the mission that you're doing.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: So even for a for-profit business, you're offering a service that will help the greater good or change your industry or interrupt your industry in a particular way that will be able to help masses amounts of people
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to help you be able to create that in the world, whether that's the research, whether that's the workforce development, whether that's through product innovation, whether that's due sustainability, whatever you can do to create and help masses amount of people, either masses or some on a small scale as well, because there's local and corporate grants too.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: You can get grant funding to serve that.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: But the real gem here is that you have to be able to affect a community or an industry period.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not doing that,
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, and I love, again, I love that distinction because I think that, you know, people have these ideas, but don't really fully flesh out how that idea is going to help people and ultimately, like I know a little bit about the grant game and ultimately, you know, you're going to get a grant if you're in alignment with the person who or your foundation or the organization that's given up that grant.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: they have a mission as well and they want to certain, you know, people serve and if you're business, a line with the people that they want to serve, then that's how you get the grant.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's sales, right?
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think of grants as sales.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same way that you're going to speak in a certain manner or try to attract a certain customer because they are the ideal person that you want to help.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: You're as a business owner and nonprofit.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: You're speaking and you're aligning your words and your mission to attract people who want to fund what you're doing.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's literally as simple as sales.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say to date?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: What what has been the biggest grant that you received or you've helped somebody receive then what you know, what was the mission and what would you have to do to get it?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: literally just before our last get ground ready summit.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: We got a 2.3 million dollar award, which is our largest two day, which was a telecommunications grant to offer broadband services to a rural population over a bunch of, you know, U.S. territories.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: that was insane because it was a I mean we were working on that for about nine months with that company particularly and the goal was just we're going to offer internet service at a certain speed to rule areas that don't have access to internet and what that could be able to do we can have more people working online working from home getting more money and and you know different things that was the mission of beyond just internet but.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: That was a grant that was on the federal level that was given out.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: But it's as simple as that.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was a guy who had an idea, I'm not saying, you know, they have a couple people that own the company, but they have an idea of like, we have the way to get this done.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: How do we fund it?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, let's find the people that are willing to fund it.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: And there are multiple different levels, but we need a level that will reach where we're trying to go.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so that was our largest grant today.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's awesome because again, I don't think people realize
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: like whatever your company does, if it's serving people, there are other people who have money that want to see that 100% as well.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, can you talk a little bit?
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Is it only, is the government the only one that gives out grants or the corporations that give out grants?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: What are the different levels of grant providers, if you will?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: The main three that I focus on are the federal grant state local grants and corporate grants.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: So that's probably the easiest way to digest the differences.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: They all give out different grant amounts and in different timelines, right?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're, I would say if you're looking to focus on a very large amount of people like the 2.3 million dollar grant, you know, you're not gonna be able to do that with $5,000.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: You're not gonna be able to give internet to 30 countries or 30 US states with, you know, $1,000 grant.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're like, hey, I'm at the point where I just need to get a website, then $1,000 grant, $5,000 grant will help you.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: So you can go for those corporate grant opportunities because they're just looking for a tax break into, you know, enhance their social responsibility.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're not looking for a lot of documentation when you're getting started there.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: But when you start getting to those local state, now they're like, okay, we need some tax returns.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: We need some profit and a lot of statements.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: We need to see a little bit more documentation that your business is going to do.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: You say you're going to do because that's taxpayer dollars.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: So understanding the different types of grants and when to go for what for what reasons is a huge part of the formula that we created at Pink Friend.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I love that.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: What's the difference between a business that gets denied for a grand versus, you know, one that wins every time?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: I would say the consistent thing that I see and people that win in losers, a endurance, a lot of people are really indoctrinated in the belief that funding is super fast or something that happens really quickly.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, in a lot of people's sales tactics, they use these, I can get you a grant in 30 days or 40 days.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: grants have a cycle, you know, and usually they're about 45 days in the whole cycle before you even see money in the bank.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: And so people lose endurance because they're so used to going for a credit card and getting to prove in 24 hours.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: So when it comes to the grant process, they're like,
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: Being in this same work for me, I need that money ASAP, the lack of a plan in the lack of endurance is typically honestly the biggest reason why I see people being the ones who are getting denied consistently and the ones that are winning.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, and also a lot of people go for grants from the I need money perspective instead of the, how can I serve what you're doing perspective, how can what I'm doing align with you to make you want to.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: support me and we work through this together because for me the goal is I don't want to consistently be applying to grant opportunities.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be building relationships with people who have grant money.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: So what I'm doing is I'm applying in a manner to showcase that this is the bigger opportunity here for us.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm going to win this grant, but also there's more opportunity for us to work together in the future that now opens up to
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: sponsorship, fiscal sponsorship, and you will sponsorship with this company that has already shown dedication to what I'm serving.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's funny because when you said that like a lot of people come with the energy of like I needed, I needed.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know, I am of the belief that money is energy and whether somebody's giving you the money or you work for the money or whatever the case may be.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: uh... is is is is not connected to desperate energy no you know and so a lot of times when you have like that desperate energy where you like i need this i need this um... you're gonna first of all you're gonna repel the money first of all most but secondly even the person that you're talking to they're not gonna they're not gonna give you that money if they feel like you need it because at the end of the day there is there is a mission that they want to fulfill right so let's just say for the
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: if I as a business owner have money and I want to provide a grant to somebody, I'm not giving the grant to somebody who has this energy of like, oh, I need this to get to this next level because at the end of the day for me, if it's my money,
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: I want, what have you done without my money?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: What have you done with your money?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Bingo, right?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm not going to trust you with my money.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you can't, if you ain't doing nothing with your money, so show me some results, show me that you've done something and show me that you, you know, that you have skin in the game, if you will.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so from an energetic perspective, there's that, that energy of, you know, and I can just tell you from, from facts like, from my experience, any time I'm desperate, I never get what I want.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: But anytime I'm in flow or in abundance, your opportunities just come like that like because of because the energy that I'm in and so What would you say to that around like how does somebody get themselves?
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: in energetic alignment with, like, with, like, money.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why I'm saying it in that way because I've noticed myself to some, it may not feel like it's a grant question, but it is.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: And from knowing you are seeing how you move, like, I know that you're in tune and tap into, like, energy.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: And, like, you know, again, I see when you're in flow, I see when, you don't say it, and so I know you understand that.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a little bit, like, how do you get in,
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: energetic alignment with like grant energy with money energy like how does that how does that work I live by this philosophy called peace prosperity loves peace and I got this from mark.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: The by the book in the Bible when the disciples were in the boat in the boat.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: there's a storm going on.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's going crazy.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: And all the disciples is like, what we're going to do, both going crazy and they're in the boat with Jesus, Jesus, like, year, little faith, like,
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: Peace be still in the storm relaxed.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: And he commanded that energy over what was happening in his life.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: And when I think about the energy to money, it's the energy of being able to command a peace in your life.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I do that in three simple steps, right?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: One is boundaries.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: I say notes were a lot of stuff, because I know that
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Me doing a lot, even if it may be producing fruit, the overproduction of fruit can also be something that's detrimental to the tree.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I know that for me to produce the best quality of who I am, I have to be still.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I can listen.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: and not be in time square amongst all the noise, but so that I can listen and hear and be in alignment, and then be so that I can do what I feel comfortable doing in those times as well, and produce what I feel is the most valuable in that's time of my life.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: When you're going for grants, you have to set boundaries of, what am I not going to accept, right?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: Because if you're going for debt free money, like I said before, this is a totally different process than going for loans and going for credit cards.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: You're no longer in the essence of, I need this quickly.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: You're in the essence of, I want the freedom that comes with having money that I never have to pay back.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: that I don't have to think about a credit score or a late payman or an interest fee in order to build what God put inside of me as a mission to serve the people in his world.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to consider that.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: So you have to operate in a lean back state.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be at complete peace and it takes for you to command that.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: So when you're thinking about going for grants, you have to be an alignment with your command and your IAM.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: Who are you?
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have the power to say peace be still over my anxiety, over my fear, my doubt, over my desperation, or are you going to operate in that essence and get whatever comes to you in the opportunity of being in alignment with those things?
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: that's good.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk to the person who started from scratch, right?
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: So some I started from scratch.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: They have no business credit, no funding.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: What are the first three things that they need to have in place before applying for any grant?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: If you have an LLC or a nonprofit registered through your local state entity, if you have a website and if you have
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: a social media presence.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying social media in terms of a bunch of followers about I'm saying consistent active posting.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: You can start going for your corporate grant opportunities, which you can find on like a helloskip.com or helloallus.com.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: Those are going to give you the least amount of, you know, entry to barrier, barrier to entry.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: And you can start with that today.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: If you have those three things, easy.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then once they go, and they start there, it's really, it was an application, like, is it, do you have to do a video?
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are the, like, what are the criteria?
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I know somebody like a plop for grants.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to be answering probably five to 10 questions with about 250 plus characters.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to need to have some wording.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: When you go on the application, what you'll see is that they're going to ask you the same things over and over again.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: What's your mission?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: Who do you serve?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: What makes you different?
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: What changes are you, you know, creating in the world?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: And how will you use the money?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Best thing for you to do is to
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: save your answers because what you want to do is use the same answers every application.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Now, we do this at Pink Prime because it's our one proposal formula.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: What this does is create a data-driven result strategy because if you're going on every application saying something new every time, you don't know what work and what didn't work.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: If you get denied for three applications, and you use the same answers, and you go back and say, hey, son, so great opportunity, can you tell me why I got denied?
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: What was it that did not align with you?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: And they give you even an ounce of feedback.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't like the way that you utilize the budget.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: you know that you can tweak that budget.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: And that tweak gets you once that closer to getting that yes.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: But if every time you're saying something different, using AI, kicking out back different verbage, you don't know what's working and not working.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: So now you can't have a strategic methodology on how to get the yes.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: The goal is to be able to create one streamlined proposal that gets you a yes, 80 to 90% of the time, because you've tweaked it over a period of time that allows you to literally know like, this is a no-brainer.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's good.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: You talk a lot about structure.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: Why is having your business paperwork right just as important as having a good product?
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, to opportunity.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: So many opportunities will come, especially when we're talking about grant funding on the state level, they, your paperwork has to be in order.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: You have to pay your annual reports.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be up on your taxes.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: You have to, you know, have all of your nonprofit nine 90 forms, whatever the case may be.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's important to have your paperwork because opportunity will come and you need to be able to show for it, right?
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Even when it comes for taxes or opportunities in terms, I mean, I've had like, we've just started franchising, right?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: We had to have so much paperwork for franchising, but those processes wouldn't be easy if we're not already structured paperwork wise.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: The paperwork is the business.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: The money is not the business.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: So you're franchising ping-print?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's so beautiful because, hello.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's so incredible because,
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: When you get to a point where you can take an idea that you had and allow other people to utilize it to not only make money, but to further the mission, it's really like discipleship, it's like having a mission that is so strong that other people can get behind and make a change in their communities and in their worlds.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, franchising pink print.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's been actually a super easy process.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: I work with black brox franchising and they've allowed me the opportunity to be able to just duplicate exactly what we've created through our SLPs and our methodology and our IP to where now, you know, working with other people and starting that franchise opportunity to like really keep the mission going as
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that because then that's why I just was like, way, hold on because I feel like that is the natural evolution of a mission, right?
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm a glad that you're using that word often because.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and it's there's nothing wrong with building a business to make money, right?
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Cause we all have to make money, um, and that, you know, life is easier when you have money.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: If you're making a living and you have money, a life becomes waste is so much easier, um, but I like that, I like when you, when you, that you mentioned, um, you know, having that mission because, um, when your mission is,
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: big enough or when you are, when you can do your mission yourself, it's not big enough, right?
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: And when you start thinking about ways to get the mission and and really fulfill on it, you're going to need other people and so how, so you know, I have this process that I call do document delegate, which is similar to what franchising is, right?
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: You do the thing first,
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: Once you do the thing and you get the kinks out, you figure out, you know, I say, don't, don't do it so you get it right, do it so you can't get it wrong, right?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have this process that you keep doing over and over and over again that you know you can't get wrong.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: So you document that process, you document it and say, right, this is how you do it with, you know, the actual piece.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then now you delegate now, you know, you, you find affiliates, right, you find franchise, you find.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: people to work on you like there's different ways that you can you can delegate people doing it and that frees you up to really just now become the mouthpiece or the visionary of this mission.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: But now the goal is to find other people to help you execute and I just think that's genius right because again at that day, you know, you've done all this work, you've you've built the systems you, you know, you tried it now, you know, you do it, you, you can't get it wrong now are here, I documented this thing so that let me franchise it.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: So other people could, again, you know, complete the mission, but then there's still a financial gain for you because now, you know, your goal is to now get more franchises and that just changes that business model.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love that a lot, I love that a lot.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: What are the most common types of grants available right now?
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: And which ones do you see like entrepreneurs like sleeping on the most?
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, quarter four and quarter one is the biggest times for grant opportunities.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like I always there's grants all year round, but Q4 Q1 is like the fiscal budget just came out.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: So state local grants are like floodgating and then also, you know, into the year corporate grants are floodgating because they're trying to save on taxes.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: So they're throwing money at the wall and it's just like a really, really lucrative time.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I think in this time, the biggest ones that people are probably gonna miss out on are the new state logo grants that are coming out and then the corporate grants that are getting thrown at the wall as well.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: In the reason why they're missing out is because they're probably using Google to find grants and you have to use real grant databases because grant databases are set up to be able to find actual grants.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: best one that I love is grantwatch.com, and we use that one every day in our company.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: You can also now, you know, with AI, you can do a lot of research with finding grant opportunities.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes AI don't give you ones that's actually open.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: So you have to be super careful with that.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: But using grant databases will help you find grant opportunities that you can actually go for.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then don't be afraid to go for the smaller grants, too.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: you can stack your grants up because there's no limit on how many can win, what time frame you can win them, how much you can win a certain period of time, as many as you can apply to it as many as you can get, right?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: If as long as you can manage them properly, but
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: go for all of them, 1,000, 5,000, they're easy and though they'll add up so quickly that you'll be able to like fund your whole operational cost, it's just from small corporate-grant opportunities.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, and it's funny because I can speak to the corporate like, and it's funny because you know these things, but you don't put the two and two together, but there was years in which
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: Q4, like corporate race, like randomly, you're like, I, for nothing though, they're like, they're like giving me money.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, I say I didn't fulfill it, but they just wanted to give me the money.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't understand it, but now that you said that, I'm like, oh, that makes sense.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like they had to get rid of this money regardless because of the tax obligation.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: And so they'll find ways to get rid of it.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like I remember,
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I got to say, we're big because I don't want you to come come for me.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: I have a bank gave me a lot of money.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: I was I would say, uh, it was a lot.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: I can say how much, but it was, I figured shut.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was a lot and, um, it was for nothing though.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: It was like five blogs or something like that.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, it was, it was, I was like, I asked my agent.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, you sure?
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's it.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's only what, and it was, and that didn't make sense.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: They
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: probably had this money allocated for, and it was just one of the, they just had to get rid of it.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: Literally.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing that people have to understand is like, you are probably already in their pipeline.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: You had done some work with them.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is why I say, there's no waste in pitching your business.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Even if you apply for a grant, you don't win.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: Get in their pipeline because there will be opportunities where they're like, oh, you didn't really work out for this grant opportunity But then later on down the line, they may see that you're hosting an event or that you're you know Doing something that Align's what they're doing right at that time, but if they wouldn't have known you because you never filled out the application You wouldn't have got the opportunity to get the five-figure check because they have money outside of just grants So I this is a little cute strategy that we use at pink print
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: Any grant that we go for, we have them on a newsletter, right?
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: We use clay, be able to do all of our like email stuff and communication.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: We put them on a newsletter to keep them up to date with what we're doing at pink brand.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: We're having an event or we're hosting this system and are we're doing this thing or whatever.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: So we just constantly are like sending out emails just to keep ourselves on top of mine.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: But then we started running ads directly to them.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: We started running ads directly to grant tours, grant funders on different things that we're like a newsletter, but different things that we were going on.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: So they're like, um, the people that are on their PR team or on their social media team are saying the stuff we're doing.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: So if they hear like, oh, we're doing, you know, we're doing an event.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: And we have some money that we need to pay to be able to access, you know, women entrepreneurs, oh, I keep seeing this company pink friend.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: They do did it.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: you've got to stay top of mind, but the way to stay top of mind is by being in their ecosystem.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're not applying and you're not showing up, who knows you?
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, that's a good strategy.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: I better be taking note.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: Let me ask you, right?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, I've been an author for over 15 years and published over 20 books.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: I used to write for a you know, publication, Don Diva magazine that their magazine was like in jails.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so a lot of my books are circulating behind the wall.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Wonderful.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: I would be at conferences, you know, people will run up to me that did time and be like, man, I read your book.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: Your book helped me with this.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is, and I'll get like letters from people in prison and things in that nature.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I decided that I wanted to be more intentional about doing work, becoming or creating less a personal development platform for formerly incarcerated men and women in those who are,
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: coming home, part of my brother Jay White, you know, who does, you know, federal, federal contracts, government contracts, because he has a similar, he has a similar program, so we started in the podcast, podcast is called Crop Hays, and we have like Crop Hays Academy, number one personal development, you know, platform for formerly cost-driven and women, right?
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now that I'm here, you talk in my mind, I'm like, we haven't tried to get any grants to do this work.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: And part of what we do, we have an academy, and an academy is for those who have about to come home.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: So you might be behind the wall, all you were just recently released, but we're teaching you all about business, about financial literacy, how to build your credit.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: If I want to hire your company, what would you advise me to do to get grants for formerly incarcerated men and women, to be able to run this program?
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm already hearing just a lot of different avenues because so the thing that will happen in people's minds is that you'll niche it down and you'll say, okay, this is a program for formerly incarcerated men and women and we want to be able to help them with business development or job placement or you know whatever it may be but.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_02]: What I would automatically do is I'm going in, I'm looking at how broad can we make this in the scheme of what can we produce through the vehicle of wanting to help right the mission is to help forming the incarcerated men and women.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: So what all can we do with the vehicle because initially what I'm hearing okay already there's a tech component of it because you have this app or this you know software or the program that you're creating so there's already this tech component that I'm thinking of creating operational wise then I'm also thinking of the curriculum part of it so I'm like okay.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: how can we create this curriculum in order to get into more prisons or behind the wall?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then also I'm looking at it because I'm like, okay, workforce development grant opportunities are there because now we want to create programs like maybe through trade schools that we can now get job placement opportunities where they can get this training.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm also looking at it too because I'm like, okay, we can do events like you were saying before you met people at events, I'm like we could do events, which can also be a catalyst as well.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: key and off on different grant opportunities that you can come up with in order to just fund that one opportunity, but it's broader than we think, yeah, it's it's a lot broader than we think and there's a lot of people that support, you know, previously incarcerated from different avenues, whether it may be, you know, just getting them home, getting them in an apartment, you know, there's tons of nonprofits, but I would probably actually go the foundational way, I would probably get grants foundationally.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: and go for the nonprofits who have gotten funding through their own resources that will support you for creating the services because they're you guys not profit or profit.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: So we have both.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I have my own nonprofit.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jayway has his own nonprofit and then we have a for profit.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: So we have both will have another.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: Initially I would probably go for profit to be the fulfillment for the non-profits.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: and get the foundational grants to support the for-profit services that you guys offer.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then from there, I would build out the non-profit sector that does the events and, you know, the more philanthropic, philanthropic, philanthropic, philanthropic.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: Are there grants that fund like production, you know what I'm saying?
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because, like my guys are expensive, not like.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: But like, when I think about,
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know, doing, you know, I have documentary ideas.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: I have all these ideas that are like production film base, are there grass that potentially like fund, you know, me, you know, getting, you know, getting stuff for do's.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but the ones that we have seen are very specific on what they would want you to produce.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: So the ones that I was working on for a lady who's also in podcast and that you'll probably know.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: hers was they wanted to give great opportunities for like humanitarian type of documentaries and supports are like historian type of documentaries and support.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: So they're very specific on what they want you to produce.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_00]: They're not just like loose.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: So give me the story banks, the stormy bank story, right?
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like wide grants, like wide grants, how to pink for it, come up like give me give me that story.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the mission for me is I want more businesses to be debt-free.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: I genuinely think that this can be a big catalyst to close the wealth gap if we simply had more access to capital than we had it did.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I genuinely believe that.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, it started with my own story to dead, right?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: As simply, I was like 18 19 years old didn't really have a lot of financial literacy and I got like a $500 credit card from capital one.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: And when I got that credit card, I was like, don't really go with it because my mom said, look, just use of the things that you're already spending money on and then pay it back with the money that you have.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: Just so you can build points in this.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: So I had a good system until capital 1 started race.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: My credit limit beyond what I knew how to manage.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: They gave me about $5,000 in like, maybe a year's time for me just managing that $500 will.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't have $5,000 worth of bills at that time.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: So now I'm thinking of the stuff I can buy.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, let me see about this in that in the third.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: And unfortunately, I missed managed that funding opportunity that I had in front of me.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: It ended up becoming interest payments, charge off, late on my credit report and ruined my literal credit.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_02]: And so for me, I was like, this, it wasn't worth it for me.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: And because of that charge off that I got 10 years ago, I wasn't able when I did start my business.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have access to, you know, getting credit because my credit was still jacked.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: And it just was a snowball effect.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_02]: And then when I found grants, I'm like, wow, this was such a more stress-free process for me.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it allowed me to stay in my freedom.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if you've ever been in any kind of debt.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: But when that monkey's on your back, the mental state of mind is not in a creation place.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: If you think about where God was when he created the heavens and the universe and the world, do you think he was in debt?
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: You have to really be in a space of freedom to create great things that last.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: So for me, when I saw the difference in the mental capacities that I had and how was able to create in those moments, I preferred to be debt-free.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: And utilizing that finding grant opportunities, I said, this is just the route that I want to take.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: When I started to become stormy banks as everyone knows today, I was looking online.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: Most people were teaching credit.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: They were like, hey, here's how you can get a credit card or $100,000 in credit or access to this capital.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, nobody's showing us how we can do this this other way.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: And so I just started teaching from a perspective of this what I did.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know nothing.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not certified grammar.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just just what I did.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then they were like, well, can you do it for us?
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: And that's when I said, let me go get my certification.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: Let me become legitimate.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: And let me start this business and really do this.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: It has shown itself to be fruitful without me even having to, you know, try to produce anything.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I knew it was needed.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you were going to a lot of minority owned businesses.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: What's the biggest barrier?
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, they face when it comes to getting access to capital.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and how you helped them all become it.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's changed a lot with this new presidency, because a lot of programs have gotten cut, which were connected to minorities.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I think right now, the biggest barrier is simply that there isn't a lot of DI program specifically.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_02]: So you can't just be minority to get funding anymore.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: you know, that used to be a really big thing, but that isn't anymore.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like at this point now, we actually have to have viable businesses in the marketplace, so we need to do a little bit more research and development on what businesses we're starting and why.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: So I think the biggest issue that I'm having when it comes to my clients is I would love to see us start businesses and industries that are a little bit more needed.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and to diversify which businesses we're starting not maybe just the hair salons or the makeup artistry or the creative sides of things, but like,
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: Internet access and broadband and technology and you know resources and you know, I would like I would love to see us in more diverse Industries because that's been a really hard one is that we're kind of all compiled into the same 10 areas and it's getting a little competitive Right, no, no, that's that's that's great.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's I
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: So, so now let's talk about like scaling and like multiplying and like, you know, you know, setting your business the right way.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: Once a business starts like winning grants, what should they do next to make sure that the money multiplies instead of just disappears?
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, always get feedback from the grant for it's one of the easiest ways to get them to build that relationship and then also like after you've won the money about three months later, you want to let them know like what you've done with the money, whether they asked for it or not send a report.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: build the relationship.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: Let them know what you have coming up.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: Keep them up to date with what you're doing.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: Also, keep very clean records.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: So we have a separate business bank account for grant funding.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: And we use quick books to do our, you know, PNLs and it keeps it really clean and up to date.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: So you just want to make sure that you're documenting everything properly as well.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then I would say number three, once you have the money, use it for what it's actual intent was to use it for.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: so that you can have proof of concept of what you're doing so you can utilize that to get other grant opportunities as well.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: No, I love that, love that.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: And so let's go to you as a business owner now.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_00]: As a business owner, you've built a multi-million dollar business.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say, and you're still relatively young?
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say is the biggest money lesson you learned on your journey to, to, you know, becoming the grant queen and the, you know, you know, pink print firm?
- 43:41[SPEAKER_02]: Biggest money lesson.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think what I'm learning right now, which is most relevant is don't don't waste money on bad talent.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that has been a super money sucker for me, just in my career as, you know, bad talent not just in your team, but just in investing in
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's a money sucker and it's a waste of time energy and it defeats the purpose.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's the biggest money lesson I've learned, money lesson that I've learned.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, have you, I don't put all your business out there, but you made a lot of money, you've made a lot of money.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: We have.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: Have you, you know, have, like, what's your, what's your biggest purchase?
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: Have you spent money?
- 44:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, have you invested money?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: So there's your biggest purchase right now so far.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: biggest purchase.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm actually a super frugal business owner.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think the most money I've spent at like one time maybe 50,000, 50,000 for sponsorship opportunity stuff that we wanted to do.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like marketing.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but but stop the on the business like you don't have a lot of me or money that I spend.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: Oh no, I don't spend like that.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_02]: I buy
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: I go on trips.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: I go on vacation.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: I go on vacation once a quarter.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: For my birthday, I do a month in Europe somewhere, whatever.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: But I love it, but I don't know, but I don't know, yeah, I'm not like just like going to the movie and like, it's not like that.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: To me it's like education because I'm like, okay, I have an opportunity to learn what other people are doing outside of where I'm at and where I'm from Learn new foods new cultures new languages and then that becomes conversational pieces that I can utilize in different arenas So it makes me a more viable business owner.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if I find that as like I'm spending money like you know
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: what's your what's your money story did you come from money oh no we was broke okay yeah we were super broke yeah i had a parent who was addicted to drugs so like it was super chaotic when it came to money um you had a like high money you know what i'm saying that was like it was i had a super bad relationship to money i read the book by jinsanario um your badass at making money
- 45:47[SPEAKER_02]: And she had this chapter where she made you write a letter to money on why you loved it and it will just open my mind because I was like I do love money I love having money.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love what money creates money is not evil is the people that get the money that do bad things But if I had money these are things that I would create and so I started like really just enjoying me with money and seeing that picture opened up
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: important to create that more, but we were super poor, you know, we we got a lot of grants for different programs that we wanted to do my siblings all with the college off of grants and stuff like that, but no, we didn't have.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm number four or five baby girl.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so let my siblings tell that I didn't have any responsibilities and my mom super lenient on us and stuff like that.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, um, for me, I always always want it to be a leader.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: I always knew like my mom would always tell me you're either gonna be like Fortune 500 CEO or you're gonna be like, uh, you know, motorcycle gang leader because I just had the energy of like everybody's gonna listen to me.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, right, right.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so I pretty much know I was gonna be entrepreneur.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_02]: My dad even though he was addicted drugs.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: He was an entrepreneur, you know, um, he had the super bad habits with money, but
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: he was very creative and he was very like, he was like a philosopher, like his words still stick with me one being, you know, if you could work 50 hours for somebody else you could work 50 hours for yourself.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he was really big on like ownership and freedom so that that was like what I think mixed together, creative who I am.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: What's the legacy of Stormy Banks when we look 50 years from now, 100 years from now, they're talking about Stormy Banks.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: What did they say in about her?
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: I hope they're not talking about me in 50 years.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: I genuinely do.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: I hope the only thing that resides is that businesses are creating debt-free opportunities for themselves.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: I hope that that's what sticks.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: I have no care about having any glory.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: I genuinely love to kill the character of Stormy Banks and be able to not be anybody to the public view.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: But unfortunately, it's a vehicle to help get the mission out there.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: But at 50 years from now, if they're still talking about me, I have not done much of that.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: Um, why is that though?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, where does that come from?
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: Where is that sense of like, um, you know, man, you know, this is, I'm mission driven.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's not about me.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: Where does that come from?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's because I really don't like responsibilities.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't like the responsibility of having to be someone in order to serve a purpose.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm only human.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna make mistakes.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: And when you're in this public eye, let's say you make one wrong mistake.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: Now everybody doesn't believe in everything you've said.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: Even if everything you've said has been amazing.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like I don't want to be a person.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: my human part of me to ruin the good that I've done or the good that I'm speaking on or the love that I've given.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I look at Jesus and you know, he had all these amazing miracles and he's teaching all of this.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_02]: He does run around things, put him on the cross and then the gates everything that he's built.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, I don't want me to get in the way because I would be me, you know.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: What's the, uh, so, so, all right, so not 50 years or how do you is, what was the, what's the next five two years look like we're like, we're like, we're like, we're like, we're like, we're acquisition.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, franchising, building that out, um, acquisition, and then creating something else that serves.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you, if you were to talk to, um,
- 49:05[SPEAKER_00]: 18 year old stormy and from all of what you've seen now and you and you were to like give her give her advice what what advice would you be given her.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I would probably genuinely just.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_02]: I probably would just tell her just like just do your thing because I mean you got on us here like your part of it let us hear.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: So you did you did good.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm happy what we're at.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I probably just big up, you know, you doing your thing.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: Just trust it, trust the process and fall in love with that more than the, you know, the result and just they locked in, but yeah, probably locking a little bit more because we couldn't do a little bit better in some areas, but yeah, what like have you made my state so far like every day?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: Even today, I mean, I'm making mistakes literally all the time.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, from simple things like forgetting to get on a call to, you know, also mistakes in terms of just like choosing the wrong partner or whatever the case may be because I was engaged and I feel like that engagement was a little rushed in order for me to make the right decision on like choosing a partner who could help me get to a new level and say, choosing a partner who was just supported me where I was at that moment.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like just simple things like that that I've done in my career.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: look back on and be like, I shouldn't have did that way, but from what I know right now I'm doing the best I can and that's all I can possibly do.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, how how does, um, how does being so focused affect that like as far as like finding a partner because I know.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, we're in a weird space now, it's like, um, you know, there's this, there's a lot of conversation around who should pay for what the boss check versus the guy who should lead and all this other crazy stuff, but as somebody who is.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_00]: a CEO, right, who has, you know, you're really, you like, focus, you know what you want, you know, I'm spoken to you offline, you're like, you know, see, see, focus, like, see, no, like, see, a lot of minutes, you're a place, you're like, all right, what we're going, we're good, yeah, I bet, that's somebody who's focused and like, you know what you want, like you said, like, you're, like, you're, you know, you're not easily swayed, how does that affect, like, you know, finding a partner?
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it has been a, I have like a, yeah, it has been hard.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna lie.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's like an area that I like really pray about a lot because, um,
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: After a year, if I'm with you, I don't see any significant growth and just like who you are, I'm just kind of over it, because every year, my desire is to either learn a new language, lose weight, or more healthy, or make one money, like something significant has to change about who I am.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: And if I don't see my partner in that same realm, it's like, I don't see this long term.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it is being super focused in discipline is actually,
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to find a partner that's in that same lane that can keep up with that intensity of life.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't have any answers on that.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: They had you always been that way like you've always been like focus.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, but I've seen the results of both.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen the results of laziness and I've seen the results of focusness.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: And so.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: my preference is the results that comes from the focus.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: I enjoy the life more over here.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and there will be times where I get lazy because it's like being focused.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: It is mentally draining as well.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: And so you have to kind of relax, but I prefer.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're not getting it.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: What advice you're given to and don't have to be a woman.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a young person, right?
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: Young person right now.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_00]: They have these dreams.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: They have these aspirations.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_00]: They don't know where to start.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: They probably made some mistakes.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: They don't come from money.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_00]: What advice are you giving them?
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get connected to your source, that's the best if I can give you the change that happened to me is when I got silent and I was in my Brooklyn apartment with no furniture and I was literally just like letting God tell me what to do instead of me trying to side where every motion was going to be.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_02]: That literally was the shift because that's what created like who I was gonna be my identity I had time to think and visualize and even now today people know this about me I don't get on calls like you can't schedule calls with me throughout the day like that And if you do is gonna be like two three minutes because I have so much I need so much time to like visualize and think to see it
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: and then make it plain in the world and I think that that was the change that happened was being able to see something before it was real, really allowed me to like create it because I create a faith in it because it felt so obtainable once I saw it so clearly.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're just starting out no matter where you're at like
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: there's no steps to take other than to be very clear visually first.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's like your first thing to do.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, not love it.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_00]: So you have you have, you know, challenges, summits, ways people could learn what you what you got coming up.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: We always got something in the pipeline, but I mean the the easiest way I think to get connected with pink print is of course Like following what we do on socials because like you said we're also always hosting like a summit or a event And then also like if you're in the space where you want to become a grant writer or learn how the process works And look at franchising with us later on.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_02]: We have our you know certified grant writer program where we'll train you to
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: just create a new lucrative stream and come for yourself wherever you're at and make change in the world without having to go through a full collegiate experience.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's like the easiest way to get connected and stay in tune.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_00]: Nah, I love that.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_00]: And this is just, I'm done.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done giving you a game.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is for this.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, but this is still going to be game.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: But this is for me and my, and my thought process.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um, where is your marketing right like, where does that come from like, because I'll be honest, like, that's what it intrigued me the most, it's like, like, your activations be like,
- 55:08[SPEAKER_00]: a big, bold, like their genius though, right?
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: Almost at a point where they almost look like a Fortune 500 kind of activation.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, I like, I don't know, dove is doing an activation on soap, but whatever they do these, you know, these activations where
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: You go to time square and you see these big big billboards and then there's soap on the floor and it's like this, you know, it's like super duper like creativeness, um, you've managed to do it in, um, like a social media way though, you know, I'm saying like, and, and so yeah, like, like do you have a, is it your, your idea, do you have a marketing team like with like, what does that, what does it come on?
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's me, but I read the Bible, and I'm telling you so we just did the grant games, right?
- 56:00[SPEAKER_02]: And the grant games was like, okay, 40 days of grant daily grants and templates and learning, and we didn't just like, you know, more fun, futuristic way, but the grant games came from the Bible because I was literally reading how transformational, how transformational, like Jesus was when he was in the mountain, he did his 40 days and 40 nights, like in the wilderness, and it's like, oh wow, what if I could create that same experience,
- 56:23[SPEAKER_02]: through grants and allow people to like have a little bit more fun because I know people are like when they come to like doing some five hard, they be like, oh, Lord, I committed that song like, how can I make this easier to digest, but still get the same transformation.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: So it really be like, and then we did my birthday campaign earlier, which was like a huge campaign moment, too, but I was like,
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm turning 30 on the third day God created the separation between the land and the sea.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: How can I be able to show people the freedom that God used when He created these things?
- 56:50[SPEAKER_02]: It really be from reading the Bible and I'd be like, dang like, God created this and this is so incredible.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be like this.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want to replicate this.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see this come through and so I'll tell God I'll say, you know, I want to do this and he'll, you know, just download different ways.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 57:06[UNKNOWN]: Wow.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's really it.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_02]: I promise you all right, y'all.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_00]: I swear.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean like yo I'll say you what what's the marketing ages and you see I'm like I think that no the Bible All right, y'all so any any any last words for audience any question I didn't ask you that you wish I would ask like you know let let let let let all you know give give our Insiders another gem if you if you want to
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, you did amazing.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_02]: I really appreciate, and thank you so much, just having this conversation just showed me the things that I'm doing that I might not even see that I'm doing.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_02]: And it's amazing to just hear you talk and give me my flowers and just allow me to be here on your ash cash in the vault.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a long time coming, so I appreciate you so much.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_02]: And if there's any last thing that I would give to anyone listening is stay tuned in with ash cash.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_02]: doing what you do and spreading good word and abundance and birthright and honestly genuinely trying to infuse into people that they can and that they should and that if they do this is what will come from it.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_02]: So stay tuned into everything ashes doing and I look forward to more partnerships in the future and you know our book.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that we got to create absolutely 1000% like it would go crazy like I'm I'm so excited.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited about that But yeah, I appreciate you like I said like I you know the one thing I will say And this has been consistent like I I mean, yeah, like I said with several of because I I really don't care about like the spotlight another like that
- 58:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I use it though to amplify voices.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what my God given talent or what God has called me to do.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's to just amplify voices.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, I'm fortunate enough, I've always been popular.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't care about popularity or whatever.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I think in my younger age, I was popular for the wrong reason.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_00]: I used to fight a lot.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_00]: I got kicked out of school of that.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I used to play basketball.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_00]: These are the things that, if you grow up in a hood, like, yeah, I'm saying it's gonna make you popular, right?
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: But when I got to a space where I was like, getting into corporate America and things in that nature, like, I've always, I don't know, I've always just been popular, I've always just been successful.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's not something that I want, it's something that comes to me.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I've also learned how to use that to amplify voices and, um, you know, I think my track record is really, really good so far, where I've helped a lot, you know, and I don't say names, um, only because I don't ever want to make it seem like, oh, if it wasn't for me, if I didn't put you on this platform or whatever, you wouldn't be who you are, but I mean, if you go back to, like, the people that I've interviewed or people who I've given platforms at the time I gave them a platform, right?
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a lot some people didn't even have a platform, but I'm again really good at spot and like, oh, not this person guy, like it's something in them, and so I, you know, I take pride in that and then I've been able to You know, like it's while it started out as just like I give somebody a platform on the podcast.
