- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and with me as always is Luna. Luna: Hi everyone! I'm so ready to learn some new Swahili today. Lucas: Glad to hear it. Today we're talking about directions — specifically, how to say left and right in Swahili. Luna: Oh, that's super useful! I always get lost, so this is perfect. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start simple. The word for 'left' is kushoto. Luna: Kushoto. Left. Lucas: Great. And 'right' is kulia. Luna: Kulia. Right. Lucas: You got it. Now let's put them in phrases. To say 'turn left', it's pinda kushoto. Luna: Pinda kushoto. Lucas: Perfect. And 'turn right' is pinda kulia. Luna: Pinda kulia. Lucas: And one more: 'go straight' is endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Endelea moja kwa moja. That's a mouthful! Endelea moja kwa moja. Lucas: You're doing great. Let's try a little scene. Imagine you're in a town and you ask for directions. I'll be the local, you be the lost traveler. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Samahani, nipashe njia ya sokoni? Lucas: Ah, good use of what we learned before! So I'd say: Pinda kushoto, kisha endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: So turn left, then go straight. Lucas: Exactly. And if you need to turn right, I'd say pinda kulia. Luna: Pinda kushoto, pinda kulia, endelea moja kwa moja. I think I've got it. Lucas: Let's practice a bit more. I'll say a direction in Swahili, and you tell me what it means. Pinda kushoto. Luna: Turn left. Lucas: Pinda kulia. Luna: Turn right. Lucas: Endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Go straight. Lucas: Perfect! Now you try to give me directions. Tell me to turn left. Luna: Pinda kushoto. Lucas: Excellent. Now tell me to turn right. Luna: Pinda kulia. Lucas: And now go straight. Luna: Endelea moja kwa moja. Lucas: That's it! You're a natural. Let's do one more quick scene. You're giving me directions to the market. Luna: Okay. Pinda kushoto, kisha pinda kulia. Lucas: So left, then right. I'd get there! Luna: See, I can do this. Lucas: Absolutely. So let's review the phrases one more time. Kushoto. Luna: Left. Lucas: Kulia. Luna: Right. Lucas: Pinda kushoto. Luna: Turn left. Lucas: Pinda kulia. Luna: Turn right. Lucas: Endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Go straight. Lucas: Wonderful. Now you can navigate like a pro in Swahili! Keep practicing these, and next time we'll build on them. Luna: Thanks Lucas! This was really helpful. I'll be using these all week. Lucas: Glad to hear it. Remember to keep learning with Fexingo, and we'll see you next time. Kwaheri! Luna: Kwaheri!
