- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm going to let the listeners in on a little
- 0:02Speaker 1: secret before we go any further here. We've just had
- 0:04Speaker 1: a debate before we started recording as to whether we
- 0:06Speaker 1: actually enjoyed the last game week. And we don't say
- 0:09Speaker 1: that very often because regular listeners will know we love FPL.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We love this podcast. But oh my goodness, what a
- 0:16Speaker 1: low scoring game week. I have not been looking forward
- 0:19Speaker 1: to coming on and talking about it.
- 0:20Speaker 2: My lowest game week score ever.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Is that bad?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yes, but I think it was a disaster for most
- 0:26Speaker 1: of us, wasn't it, Sam? Offer me some kind of
- 0:28Speaker 1: comfort here.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and I also think that partly because the previous
- 0:32Speaker 4: game week was so good and the scores were so
- 0:35Speaker 4: high that when you go from one extreme to the other,
- 0:37Speaker 4: it feels like even worse.
- 0:39Speaker 2: But yeah, it was a really difficult week, wasn't it?
- 0:41Speaker 4: And it was kind of like, at one point I
- 0:43Speaker 4: was thinking, am I actually going to score any points
- 0:46Speaker 4: this whole weekend? Or are we just going to have
- 0:47Speaker 4: a whole team of just twos? But a couple of
- 0:50Speaker 4: them did decide that they wanted to return.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Congratulations on a couple. I only had one. Oh, Ed too.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So maybe I'm one.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, what a disaster.
- 1:00Speaker 2: At least you captured him.
- 1:01Speaker 3: But then we say that, but the average score is
- 1:05Speaker 3: actually quite high. It's 47 or 48 points considering Arsenal blanked,
- 1:10Speaker 3: Chelsea blanked. I know, but if you look at game
- 1:13Speaker 3: week three, for example, the average was 51, but you know,
- 1:17Speaker 3: We played that triple captain, so it's a bit different.
- 1:20Speaker 3: But at least more people kind of returned in that
- 1:24Speaker 3: game week. I really thought, before seeing the average for
- 1:28Speaker 3: all the players in the world for the last game week,
- 1:31Speaker 3: I thought this is going to be really low, like
- 1:33Speaker 3: in the 20s, because as we said, Chelsea blank, Bruno blank,
- 1:36Speaker 3: Arsenal blank. Obviously, Haaland only scored one goal. So even
- 1:40Speaker 3: if he was your captain, so unless you had one
- 1:43Speaker 3: of the high performers, which I didn't expect so many
- 1:46Speaker 3: people to have, I thought the average is going to
- 1:48Speaker 3: be quite low here. And actually, the average is really high,
- 1:51Speaker 3: I think, for such a difficult game week.
- 1:53Speaker 4: But I think there was players like Pascal Gross, who
- 1:55Speaker 4: was really highly transferred in last week, who returns again,
- 1:58Speaker 4: holds the game week up. Plus there was quite a
- 2:00Speaker 4: few free hits activated in the last sort of few
- 2:03Speaker 4: days of last week. So I do think that if
- 2:06Speaker 4: you got on the right players, like there was a
- 2:08Speaker 4: lot of people deciding to go for an Everton defender,
- 2:10Speaker 4: for example, on that free hit. And of course, then
- 2:13Speaker 4: if you've got Tarkovsky or Branthwaite or something like that, that's.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Holding you up as well.
- 2:17Speaker 4: And really only took having one of those players that
- 2:21Speaker 4: got double-digit return, and then you're at 40, 47. So
- 2:26Speaker 4: I think that's part of the reason for it, but
- 2:29Speaker 4: there's a lot of managers that have had really difficult weeks. Like, Kels,
- 2:32Speaker 4: you think yours is bad. Well, even worse than us two,
- 2:36Speaker 4: to be honest, Jules. There's a lot that are in
- 2:38Speaker 4: the teams, like, of the really good FPL managers. So
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's just sometimes those weeks happen.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Okay, so let's discuss exactly these awful scores that we're
- 2:46Speaker 1: talking about. Jules, as we said, didn't have a bad
- 2:48Speaker 1: game week at all, really, 47. I would have absolutely
- 2:50Speaker 1: bitten your hand off for that. And Sam got 33.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I got, actually, I thought I got 24.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I got 28.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So it's a little bit better than I thought. It's
- 2:59Speaker 1: got worse and worse. I thought about it in my head.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So yeah, 28. I think the main painful thing for
- 3:03Speaker 1: me was lack of returns. And then my bench got
- 3:06Speaker 1: 11 points. And my first sub, it was the most
- 3:10Speaker 1: FPL thing ever, wasn't it, Sam? To make your first sub,
- 3:13Speaker 1: Sangari at home, when Brentford win in the manner that
- 3:15Speaker 1: they do, When we play our Chelsea attackers, in the hope,
- 3:19Speaker 1: of course, that Pedro starts, he doesn't. And then Sangare
- 3:21Speaker 1: comes off the bench for zero. What is going on, man?
- 3:24Speaker 4: No, and that was the moment, I think. As soon
- 3:26Speaker 4: as I saw the Brentford team line up and he
- 3:29Speaker 4: wasn't in it, I thought.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Oh, this is going to be a hard week because
- 3:33Speaker 4: then I'm, and then I'm relying on, I had Konza
- 3:36Speaker 4: as my second sub. So then I'm thinking, well, maybe
- 3:38Speaker 4: it won't be so bad. Maybe Arsenal keep a clean
- 3:41Speaker 4: sheet against Brighton. Then Sangari comes off the bench. So
- 3:44Speaker 4: I was like, right, well, okay. We're just, we're hoping
- 3:46Speaker 4: for what it is. He gets a yellow card, ends
- 3:48Speaker 4: up with zero. So zero points coming off the bench
- 3:50Speaker 4: at a time where a lot of managers have Pascal
- 3:52Speaker 4: Gross coming off their bench.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That was really tough to handle. And then of course.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that was me.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Standard Jules jamming behavior.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Planning absolutely planning and vision his vision I knew he
- 4:04Speaker 3: was going to do something great I knew he was
- 4:06Speaker 3: going to do something great I knew Joel Pedro would
- 4:08Speaker 3: not play but you know it's like this is what
- 4:11Speaker 3: we do at my level.
- 4:14Speaker 4: At my level and then I had Bobby Thomas who
- 4:17Speaker 4: I wasn't expecting to do anything as my third sub
- 4:19Speaker 4: so who got nine points so it was just one
- 4:21Speaker 4: of those weeks but I must admit when Van Heck
- 4:24Speaker 4: headed in that consolation goal for Spurs I thought that
- 4:27Speaker 4: might be actually helpful to me because that was my
- 4:30Speaker 4: other return that I had this week. So Harlem with,
- 4:33Speaker 4: with a goal, Van Heck with a goal and everyone
- 4:36Speaker 4: else on twos and yeah, really, really difficult week, but.
- 4:43Speaker 2: We just move on from it.
- 4:44Speaker 4: And it's one of those, isn't it? Where at least
- 4:45Speaker 4: it happens early. It happens sometimes you just have a
- 4:48Speaker 4: week that doesn't go particularly well. So we can now
- 4:50Speaker 4: move on and, and get a better one in game
- 4:53Speaker 4: week six when we finally get back to it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Jules, explain where all your points came from, because people
- 4:56Speaker 1: have already listened. It's a bit confused. Pascal Gross being
- 4:58Speaker 1: a big one of them, of course.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, 14. Yeah, of course, of course. And I didn't
- 5:02Speaker 3: expect him to have, obviously, that kind of game. I
- 5:04Speaker 3: didn't expect Brighton to be so perfect, pretty much, against Arsenal.
- 5:08Speaker 3: But they were, and he was, again, excellent. I think
- 5:11Speaker 3: he's been the Premier League best player so far this season.
- 5:13Speaker 3: He is the best player in the game, too, to
- 5:15Speaker 3: be fair, the one with the highest points. So, credit
- 5:18Speaker 3: to him. Then I had Lamens with four, because he
- 5:20Speaker 3: had to make a lot of saves for United away
- 5:23Speaker 3: at Fulham. I had Vardol, with an assist, despite conceding
- 5:26Speaker 3: the three goals against Sunderland. But Valjean has been consistent
- 5:29Speaker 3: with that, you know, with those kind of assists. We
- 5:31Speaker 3: saw that in the derby. We saw that even previously.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's every week, isn't it? I think.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much, yeah. Iliman Ndiaye with five points with
- 5:39Speaker 3: an assist that is not an assist. And to be fair,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I've been quite vocal, as you know, on the show
- 5:43Speaker 3: about those. And even for me, that benefited me. But
- 5:47Speaker 3: I don't think Ndiaye should get an assist because he
- 5:49Speaker 3: gets a foul. that then Enzo scores a great free
- 5:52Speaker 3: kick to score that goal and then NDI gets the assist.
- 5:55Speaker 3: For me, it just doesn't add up. It could have
- 5:57Speaker 3: been slightly better because I have Wissar who missed the
- 6:00Speaker 3: penalty for Newcastle. But yeah, overall 47 with really one, two, three, four,
- 6:07Speaker 3: five players, if you can, Haaland as well, that returned.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Okay, let's move on because we've done that. But the
- 6:12Speaker 1: good thing is now, well, we've got a couple of
- 6:14Speaker 1: weeks to stew on it. Not so good. But the
- 6:16Speaker 1: good thing is we've got plenty of time to plan
- 6:19Speaker 1: and make it all better. We'll check in on the
- 6:20Speaker 1: FPL Pod Mini League very quickly. Let's see if you
- 6:22Speaker 1: guys had as tough a game week as us. Probably not.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Nils Arvind Nordberg, sorry if I'm not saying that correctly.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm hoping I am. They are still at the top,
- 6:31Speaker 1: got 61 points, which is incredible. And that's despite captaining
- 6:36Speaker 1: Bruno Fernandes, who of course blanked. He had both Gross
- 6:38Speaker 1: and Tarkovsky's 14-point returns and also had holes from Sharda
- 6:42Speaker 1: and Isak. He also benched Trafford's 10-point return. Alex Dawson
- 6:46Speaker 1: moved from 19th spot up into second. Alex played the
- 6:49Speaker 1: triple captain on Harland, registering 77 points. Like Nils, Alex
- 6:53Speaker 1: had Tarkovsky and Gross as well as Barnes. He did
- 6:57Speaker 1: also bench Dick Kuiper's six points. Philippe Patapa had a
- 7:01Speaker 1: great week going from 11th into third. He got 72
- 7:03Speaker 1: points without a chip. He had Hall, Sharda, Shirky, Gross, Gavardio,
- 7:08Speaker 1: Barry and Harland as his captain. Chris Todd in fourth
- 7:10Speaker 1: also had a massive climb up. from 51st up to 4th, wow,
- 7:14Speaker 1: in our league. It reminds us the code is Q0HV1Q
- 7:18Speaker 1: if you do want to join. Okay, then let's dive
- 7:20Speaker 1: into a little bit more behind that torrid, torrid game
- 7:23Speaker 1: week and kind of just work out where it all
- 7:27Speaker 1: went wrong, really. And I think the most obvious place
- 7:29Speaker 1: to start is the Arsenal result, Jules, against Brighton because,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I mean, there's been a lot of fallout since, hasn't there?
- 7:36Speaker 1: And I'm sure Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, will just want to
- 7:40Speaker 1: park it and hope it's a one-off. And I guess
- 7:42Speaker 1: as FPL managers, we kind of have to view it
- 7:43Speaker 1: in the same way, would you say?
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. Because, I mean, pretty much everybody would have
- 7:50Speaker 3: either two Arsenal players or three, like a lot of us,
- 7:52Speaker 3: whether that's two defenders, like Conce and Calafiori that I have,
- 7:55Speaker 3: for example, or some even coupled up defensively with Raya too.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Or if you have another guard, Saka, Havertz, you know, Solis,
- 8:03Speaker 3: whoever you want. It was just a bad day at
- 8:05Speaker 3: the office. They were beaten in the intensity, for sure.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Brighton were very, very clinical, super efficient, especially in the
- 8:12Speaker 3: first two goals that they scored outside of the box
- 8:15Speaker 3: from Gross and Kosulas. And it was just one of
- 8:17Speaker 3: those games where I think you try to move on
- 8:20Speaker 3: very quickly from an Arsenal point of view. And from
- 8:22Speaker 3: our point of view, that doesn't mean sell one or
- 8:25Speaker 3: two or all of your Arsenal sets at all, even
- 8:28Speaker 3: with quite a tough game, although at home against Leeds
- 8:30Speaker 3: when we come back after the international break. But it
- 8:32Speaker 3: was just one to forget, I think.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. So in terms of our Arsenal assets, don't
- 8:38Speaker 1: panic just yet. In terms of Brighton, Sam, I'm going
- 8:40Speaker 1: the opposite way. I'm going all in.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. Brighton is just.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I have a Bruggen who obviously I benched this week because,
- 8:50Speaker 4: you know, of course you did that.
- 8:54Speaker 2: But it doesn't feel like enough anymore.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Obviously, at the beginning of the season, I kind of
- 8:58Speaker 4: felt like it was a 50-50 choice between going for
- 9:00Speaker 4: Sangari or going for Pascal Gross. And of course, I
- 9:03Speaker 4: went with Sangari in game week one. That looked okay
- 9:05Speaker 4: ever since it's looked like the wrong decision. But now
- 9:09Speaker 4: they're increasingly looking good to Kalpa with attacking threat. You've
- 9:14Speaker 4: got Vuskovic who's playing incredibly well, picking up defensive contributions regularly.
- 9:19Speaker 4: It just feels like almost trebling up on Brighton is
- 9:21Speaker 4: the way to go because they're super cheap as well.
- 9:23Speaker 4: So it's not like you're going to have to spend
- 9:24Speaker 4: loads of money on them. So going for Verbruggen alongside
- 9:28Speaker 4: either a De Kalper, who of course has taken a
- 9:30Speaker 4: load of price rises, or Vuskovic, who I think is
- 9:33Speaker 4: actually where I'd go now, given we're getting some news
- 9:35Speaker 4: about Matoma coming back. I think if I was going
- 9:38Speaker 4: to invest now in a defender, I think it would
- 9:40Speaker 4: be him. And then Pascal Gross feels like, just a
- 9:44Speaker 4: bit of an essential pick now. And the move from
- 9:46Speaker 4: Sangari over to him just feels like a bit of
- 9:48Speaker 4: a no brainer because every week you don't expect it
- 9:51Speaker 4: to be a Brighton player that's kind of killing your
- 9:54Speaker 4: rank every week. They're not normally the ones that are
- 9:57Speaker 4: doing that. Normally it's like, oh, I haven't got Saka and,
- 9:59Speaker 4: you know, he scored a brace or I haven't got
- 10:01Speaker 4: Palmer and and he's he's done whatever he's done whereas
- 10:04Speaker 4: this time around it's always like okay well Brian have
- 10:06Speaker 4: scored again if it's Pascal Grace that's going to have
- 10:08Speaker 4: a really negative impact on me and at the price
- 10:10Speaker 4: point he is it just feels a bit silly to
- 10:13Speaker 4: just not go and get him and and deal with
- 10:15Speaker 4: that so that in the future we don't have that
- 10:18Speaker 4: as an issue.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the transfer. I did a rage transfer
- 10:22Speaker 1: on Friday night. I was like, before any prices change here,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I need to sort this out because it can't go on.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Sangarese had one real proper return of the season and
- 10:29Speaker 1: I benched that. So yeah, time to get rid very much.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I think the other big story was a lot of
- 10:35Speaker 1: people piled in on Nottingham Forest, didn't they, against Coventry
- 10:38Speaker 1: and what a result for Coventry. People went in big.
- 10:41Speaker 1: There was a lot of interest, wasn't there, in Morgan
- 10:42Speaker 1: Gibbs-White and also people went for a defender as well.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Do we still hold our Forest assets if you have
- 10:48Speaker 1: gone there, Jules?
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought they were a bit unlucky. They've got
- 10:52Speaker 3: this goal rule out for Igor Jesus towards the end.
- 10:55Speaker 3: They actually didn't concede that much. It's a great goal
- 10:58Speaker 3: by Silva in the way he took it, the pass
- 11:02Speaker 3: from Rushworth, which we don't have often goalkeepers with assists,
- 11:06Speaker 3: but they're beautiful to see when they happen. But I
- 11:10Speaker 3: still think that what Glasner is building there with the Munoz,
- 11:14Speaker 3: for example, if you like him like we do, even
- 11:18Speaker 3: with Gibbs White, probably with a centre-back too, I still
- 11:21Speaker 3: think he's quite positive going forward, certainly. So I think
- 11:26Speaker 3: I would keep. But I know a lot of people
- 11:30Speaker 3: on free hits, I think invested quite a lot on
- 11:32Speaker 3: Forrest because he was also Coventry, because he was at home.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And in the end, you get disappointed. But I still
- 11:38Speaker 3: think that there's a couple of players there that are
- 11:40Speaker 3: worth investing in.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Sam, do you agree?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I think obviously if you free hit it, they'll disappear
- 11:47Speaker 4: from your team, but I still think they look like
- 11:49Speaker 4: a team to invest in. The fixtures are nice as
- 11:51Speaker 4: well for Nottingham Forest. They've got a decent run coming up.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So I think, yeah, Munoz or Williams, even Sells, if
- 12:00Speaker 4: you're looking for a new goalkeeper, Gibbs-White, don't mind the
- 12:05Speaker 4: Igor-Jay-Z's pick either. I think those players all look like
- 12:08Speaker 4: decent options and For us, definitely, even with this result,
- 12:11Speaker 4: I feel like a team that I'm looking to invest
- 12:14Speaker 4: in over the coming weeks.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Okay, elsewhere, Liverpool. I feel like Sabozlai has been on
- 12:19Speaker 1: a lot of people's potential chopping block for a little while. Obviously,
- 12:22Speaker 1: Liverpool got that result against Bournemouth. Isak with the goal.
- 12:27Speaker 1: They weren't great again, were they? Maybe you could argue
- 12:29Speaker 1: their defence is the way to go. When you view Liverpool,
- 12:32Speaker 1: how are you looking at it, Jules?
- 12:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with you, Kate. I mean, you look
- 12:37Speaker 3: at Sabozlai, he had two... really long range shot against Bournemouth.
- 12:42Speaker 3: No touch in the box. He seems to be playing
- 12:45Speaker 3: sometimes deeper and deeper and deeper. Really, the passing is
- 12:48Speaker 3: still great. There's a lot of passes in the final third,
- 12:50Speaker 3: but those are usually the pass before the pass that
- 12:54Speaker 3: something will create, for example, that somebody will create. So
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think Soboslai, if I had him, I would sell him.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I know he's on pens and I know he's on
- 13:02Speaker 3: free kicks. And of course, there might be a return
- 13:05Speaker 3: at some point because of that. But I just don't know.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I thought that game was a lot of what Soboslai
- 13:11Speaker 3: is going to do for this team. And I don't
- 13:12Speaker 3: think that was enough. Isak didn't do much either. Biscoli
- 13:15Speaker 3: was in the right place at the right time again
- 13:17Speaker 3: for what is a tap-in. But for the rest, if
- 13:20Speaker 3: you look at the rest of his stats for a
- 13:23Speaker 3: game like that, he's got one shot on target. He's
- 13:26Speaker 3: got two passes in the final third. It's just he
- 13:28Speaker 3: doesn't give you much. So I know you take the
- 13:30Speaker 3: points and it's great. I think he scored eight points.
- 13:33Speaker 3: You take it. I'm just like we said, I think
- 13:35Speaker 3: last week, For me, it's a little bit too inconsistent.
- 13:37Speaker 3: You just don't know what you're going to get, not
- 13:39Speaker 3: even within the game and what could happen in the game.
- 13:42Speaker 3: It's just from his own performance. So I think it's
- 13:44Speaker 3: a bit difficult. So you're right. I think defensively, Jaquet
- 13:46Speaker 3: looked like an absolute Rolls Royce or Peugeot or Renault,
- 13:50Speaker 3: but the high standard of Peugeot and Renault, obviously, more
- 13:54Speaker 3: than Virgil. But yeah, I think Jaquet potentially defensively, although
- 13:59Speaker 3: Liverpool will play City on the back of the international break,
- 14:02Speaker 3: so they'll have tough games coming up. But potentially, Xhaka
- 14:06Speaker 3: is somebody that you need to keep an eye on.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Sam, where are you at with Liverpool? And Sabozlai, because
- 14:11Speaker 1: you're a Sabozlai owner like I am, slash was, I've sold.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Have you? You've sold him already?
- 14:16Speaker 1: Well, I haven't mentioned this yet.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Of course, you've got your chip active, haven't you?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I actually just thought we're over 10 minutes into
- 14:22Speaker 1: this pod and I haven't said. But yeah, I didn't
- 14:25Speaker 1: hit the wildcard button. We're going to talk about my
- 14:26Speaker 1: wildcard very shortly. But just to give a bit of context,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and it's a bit annoying now. On Friday night, I
- 14:31Speaker 1: did gross to Sangare and thought, I'm not pressing the
- 14:33Speaker 1: wildcard button because none of the price changes were going
- 14:35Speaker 1: to affect me in terms of players I wanted if
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was to wildcard. And Saturday happened, it was a
- 14:39Speaker 1: bit of a disaster, but I thought, do you know what?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Sunday is big in terms of if I'm going to
- 14:43Speaker 1: want Bruno, if I'm going to want Sabozlai. So I
- 14:45Speaker 1: didn't press the button on Saturday night, which actually cost
- 14:48Speaker 1: me a little bit in terms of prices changing. But
- 14:50Speaker 1: then I saw what happened on Sunday and I just
- 14:52Speaker 1: was like, okay, enough's enough. This has been the worst
- 14:55Speaker 1: game week ever. And Sabozlai was a large, he was
- 14:58Speaker 1: a large factor because I really, I feel like he's
- 15:01Speaker 1: on the cusp of, like as Jules said, he's on
- 15:03Speaker 1: set pieces, he's on penalties. I want, I want to
- 15:06Speaker 1: want him. I feel at his price, he should be
- 15:08Speaker 1: really good value, but the frustration just got too much.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So now he's got.
- 15:12Speaker 4: He's a dangerous price point, I think in FPL, because
- 15:14Speaker 4: on paper, 7 million is really attractive. It's a really nice,
- 15:20Speaker 4: easy gap. It invests you in a team that you
- 15:23Speaker 4: expect to do well and to score lots of goals.
- 15:25Speaker 4: So it feels like a bit of a gift, but the,
- 15:28Speaker 4: flip side of that is that he at seven he's
- 15:32Speaker 4: also quite a difficult sell because you go wow it
- 15:34Speaker 4: should be good value for money so I'll just give
- 15:36Speaker 4: him one more week and then that I'll just give
- 15:38Speaker 4: him one more week whereas if you had a nine
- 15:40Speaker 4: million if if Cole Palmer or Bakayo Saka was performing
- 15:44Speaker 4: in the same way that Sabozlai is in terms of
- 15:46Speaker 4: points returns you wouldn't hold them you would sell them
- 15:49Speaker 4: but because you've got two and a half million less
- 15:52Speaker 4: budget invested It feels like less of a priority selling.
- 15:56Speaker 4: It feels like you can give a bit more patience.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So he's difficult.
- 16:01Speaker 4: I tend to agree with Jules, I think, in what
- 16:03Speaker 4: he was saying about the fixtures that they have coming up.
- 16:06Speaker 4: I look at the fixtures that they have, Manchester City,
- 16:08Speaker 4: then it's Brentford, who have been really good. Then it's Brighton,
- 16:11Speaker 4: who we've just seen what they can do against Arsenal,
- 16:14Speaker 4: before Arsenal. And then there's a nice game against Crystal
- 16:17Speaker 4: Palace in game week 10, although I did think Crystal
- 16:20Speaker 4: Palace looked a lot better at the weekend. So the
- 16:22Speaker 4: next four for Liverpool are very, very difficult. And I
- 16:25Speaker 4: don't think I want to go there with a defender
- 16:27Speaker 4: because of that, because I'm not sure I see any
- 16:29Speaker 4: clean sheets. But equally, it feels hard. It kind of
- 16:35Speaker 4: still feels difficult to sell Sabozlai because I'm not going
- 16:37Speaker 4: to wildcard over the international break. So the transfers feel important.
- 16:43Speaker 4: And I think that's part of my issue with him
- 16:45Speaker 4: because the transfers feel important. He doesn't necessarily hit my
- 16:50Speaker 4: kind of priority sell list. Isak, I think, is slightly different,
- 16:54Speaker 4: by the way. If I had Isak, I'd hold because
- 16:56Speaker 4: he's finding form and Would you? The defences that they
- 16:59Speaker 4: have coming up.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I would.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd hold him because I just think that he's
- 17:03Speaker 4: found some form and I can see them scoring goals
- 17:07Speaker 4: against sides like Manchester City. I think that that will
- 17:10Speaker 4: be a really attacking game and I can see both
- 17:11Speaker 4: sides scoring. So I'd hold him for that. But suppose
- 17:15Speaker 4: I am probably, depends what happens over the break, I'll
- 17:18Speaker 4: keep my eyes on it. And if there's anything else
- 17:21Speaker 4: I particularly want to do, the Sangare to Gross move
- 17:23Speaker 4: is done.
- 17:23Speaker 2: That's one of my transfers. So I've got two left
- 17:26Speaker 2: to go.
- 17:27Speaker 4: So Bozlai is probably the next on my chopping board,
- 17:29Speaker 4: but I don't know whether I might just give him
- 17:32Speaker 4: the Man City game because defensively, maybe this game's quite
- 17:37Speaker 4: attacking and maybe he gets something.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Okay. In terms of Spurs, I mean, there's a goal.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Let's go to goal.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Well done, Sam.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Two goals.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Two.
- 17:49Speaker 3: At least one.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Still no points. But there has been points for Van Dijk.
- 17:53Speaker 2: We have got some points.
- 17:54Speaker 3: We've drawn games. Two points.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Two draws. Yeah, don't forget those.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Don't forget their mirror porn. Yeah, Van Hek with a
- 18:02Speaker 4: third return in a row. Like a couple of clean
- 18:05Speaker 4: sheets for eight pointers. And now we get a goal
- 18:07Speaker 4: out of him. I think at 4.9, because obviously I've
- 18:11Speaker 4: had a price drop on him. I do think that
- 18:13Speaker 4: he looks like quite good value for money. He's regularly
- 18:16Speaker 4: getting close, if not hitting the defensive contribution points. He
- 18:19Speaker 4: is very attacking from those set pieces.
- 18:22Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 18:25Speaker 4: I kind of look at him and think, There's an
- 18:28Speaker 4: opportunity there to go with them. I will say, though,
- 18:32Speaker 4: that in that first 20 minutes or so, Aston Villa
- 18:36Speaker 4: goalkeeper makes four incredible saves. So Spurs do seem to
- 18:40Speaker 4: be finding some.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Yeah, they're finding some form, I think we'll say. They're
- 18:48Speaker 4: getting better. Every week they are a bit better, which
- 18:50Speaker 4: is all right.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I mean, we didn't see the same game. It's hard.
- 18:55Speaker 2: The first 20 minutes, we were quite good. And then
- 18:57Speaker 2: after that, we were.
- 19:00Speaker 2: We were. We just were.
- 19:01Speaker 3: In the tunnel. You look good in the tunnel. Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 3: they do.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Let's bring this back to FPL rather than making this
- 19:07Speaker 1: an Arsenal versus Spurs fan debate. In terms of FPL,
- 19:10Speaker 1: is Van Dijk the only option at the moment? And
- 19:13Speaker 1: full disclosure, I am considering him on my wildcard because
- 19:15Speaker 1: as you mentioned, that price drop as well. I think
- 19:18Speaker 1: the fixtures, I think he feels at the moment, Jules,
- 19:22Speaker 1: even you with your anti-Spurs.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Can you see potential there?
- 19:26Speaker 3: I'm not anti-Spurs. It was just, Yeah, it was just
- 19:28Speaker 3: a tea slump. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the only one,
- 19:31Speaker 3: really the only one. No, no, no, no prospects, but
- 19:33Speaker 3: you know, no Kinski. I would just go, I tried
- 19:36Speaker 3: Robertson and I gave him a, you know, I gave
- 19:38Speaker 3: him a chance. I think, I think Van Hecke is
- 19:41Speaker 3: really the only one.
- 19:42Speaker 2: That right now... The other thing, Kels, is you can do.
- 19:46Speaker 4: If you have Van Hecke and Konza, obviously because of
- 19:51Speaker 4: the North London-ness, they rotate nicely together. And Spurs' two
- 19:55Speaker 4: home fixtures that they have coming up are Coventry and
- 19:58Speaker 4: Crystal Palace. So you can play the double Arsenal defence
- 20:03Speaker 4: in their three home fixtures and then... bench Konza and
- 20:06Speaker 4: play Van Hecke for those two nice Spurs home fixtures.
- 20:08Speaker 4: So I actually do think, all jokes aside about how
- 20:11Speaker 4: Spurs have started this season, I do think it makes
- 20:14Speaker 4: sense because you've got options with Van Hecke with the
- 20:18Speaker 4: defensive contribution points. We have seen a couple of clean
- 20:21Speaker 4: sheets for Spurs this season and now we've got that
- 20:24Speaker 4: attacking threat that we've seen with the goal on Saturday afternoon.
- 20:27Speaker 4: So all jokes aside about Spurs, I do think he's
- 20:30Speaker 4: a decent option.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Okay, in terms of Everton, I'm starting to feel I don't,
- 20:34Speaker 1: I haven't got an Everton defender on my wildcard at
- 20:36Speaker 1: the moment, but I'm wondering if we overlooked Everton's defence
- 20:38Speaker 1: and particularly Tarkovsky, Jules, given his price point, really.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, completely. Average is 10.2 Defcon per game per 90.
- 20:46Speaker 3: You know, that stays outstanding and will never change. It's
- 20:49Speaker 3: also a team that has lost some attacking power. And
- 20:53Speaker 3: I know Grealish is coming back to form slowly and
- 20:56Speaker 3: maybe we see a you know, Tyler Dibling or someone
- 20:59Speaker 3: like that. But still, they lost NDI. They only have
- 21:02Speaker 3: Tiano Barry. They lost Beto. So I think they will
- 21:05Speaker 3: certainly have a good season from a defensive solidity point
- 21:10Speaker 3: of view, in a way. And for that, whether you
- 21:12Speaker 3: want to go for Pickford in goal, if you're looking
- 21:14Speaker 3: for a goalkeeper, but Tarkovsky is the outstanding pick. More
- 21:17Speaker 3: than Brantwaite, more than one of the two full-backs, Maitland-Niles
- 21:21Speaker 3: or Mikolenko, or even one of the defensive midfielders. I
- 21:24Speaker 3: think Tarkovsky because also he started, you know, we knew
- 21:27Speaker 3: he had the odd goal in him, obviously on set
- 21:29Speaker 3: pieces and he's had one already this season. But there's
- 21:32Speaker 3: a couple of, there's assist and there's like creating chances
- 21:36Speaker 3: thing that you never thought you could see from a
- 21:38Speaker 3: player like Tarkovsky. So, you know, I think it's great
- 21:41Speaker 3: if you look at three clean sheets, one goal, one
- 21:43Speaker 3: assist in five games. It's pretty perfect for a start
- 21:47Speaker 3: of the season in terms of FPL from him. So
- 21:50Speaker 3: I think if I was Walt Carding, I would put
- 21:52Speaker 3: Tarkovsky in the team straight away.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Okay. In terms of Joao Pedro, we need to address that,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I think. What do we do, Sam? If he's not
- 22:01Speaker 1: available after the break, do we sell? He's already had
- 22:03Speaker 1: a price fall, but I mean, I think a lot
- 22:05Speaker 1: of people will have held him because it won't have
- 22:07Speaker 1: actually affected the price that you sell him at.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I know that.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Confuses some people. If you're new to FPL, for example,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think all of us had him from the beginning.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So he was 7.5. Then he went up to 7.8.
- 22:17Speaker 1: He's now gone to 7.7. But obviously when he was
- 22:20Speaker 1: at 7.8, you could still only sell him for 7.6
- 22:23Speaker 1: because it's like lower end of the midpoint for one
- 22:26Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a very good way of
- 22:27Speaker 1: describing it but yeah and so when he goes to 7.7
- 22:30Speaker 1: his sale point is still 7.6 isn't it Sam so
- 22:33Speaker 1: for example I've still kept my wild card for now
- 22:36Speaker 1: had he taken two price falls I would I would
- 22:38Speaker 1: sell but yeah I'm just wondering do we just still
- 22:42Speaker 1: hold and wait for more news that feels like the
- 22:43Speaker 1: most sensible thing because surely we're going to want him
- 22:45Speaker 1: back when he's available if he's available yeah I.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Think so I think so I I gelpedra has been
- 22:51Speaker 4: fantastic like we shouldn't forget that over the opening four
- 22:53Speaker 4: weeks of the season we've had really good returns from
- 22:56Speaker 4: gelpedra he has been great value for money he has
- 22:59Speaker 4: been captainable in games that we've had so and that's
- 23:03Speaker 4: really important now obviously we've got the break to kind
- 23:07Speaker 4: of just wait and see what happens with him if
- 23:09Speaker 4: he's not available after the break then there's a conversation
- 23:12Speaker 4: to be had because you've got players like barry who
- 23:14Speaker 4: we briefly just mentioned you've got brobby who i know
- 23:17Speaker 4: A lot of managers have sold over the last few weeks,
- 23:19Speaker 4: but suddenly decided that he was going to score a
- 23:21Speaker 4: hat-trick this weekend. But there are others as well in
- 23:23Speaker 4: that kind of forward line that you can replace him with.
- 23:26Speaker 4: But equally, if he is going to be available, then
- 23:28Speaker 4: I think you're going to want him. For me, it's
- 23:31Speaker 4: going to come down to how long is he out for.
- 23:33Speaker 2: If he's going to miss... If he's going to come
- 23:35Speaker 2: straight in after the break, then great. He's going to stay.
- 23:37Speaker 4: If he's going to miss one game after the break,
- 23:39Speaker 4: I'd still hold him. If it's going to be more
- 23:41Speaker 4: than one game, then I think you probably have to
- 23:44Speaker 4: look at, is there a better option elsewhere that you
- 23:46Speaker 4: can go with? Because ideally you don't want to be
- 23:49Speaker 4: carrying players through over the next few weeks, particularly in
- 23:52Speaker 4: positions where you could look to either get a march
- 23:56Speaker 4: on your mini league and get ahead by going for
- 23:58Speaker 4: somebody a bit different. Or if you haven't had a
- 24:01Speaker 4: particularly good start to the season going against him, while
- 24:04Speaker 4: he's out and other people are holding him could be
- 24:06Speaker 4: a good opportunity for you to get some points and
- 24:08Speaker 4: catch up in your mini league so for me it's
- 24:11Speaker 4: going to be a case of what do we hear
- 24:13Speaker 4: over the break about Jao Pedro and whether he's likely
- 24:16Speaker 4: to be available for game week six or not if
- 24:18Speaker 4: he's not maybe have a think about selling him just
- 24:21Speaker 4: so that you can get a differential in for a
- 24:23Speaker 4: couple of.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Weeks How do you think his absence affects the whole
- 24:27Speaker 1: Chelsea attack, Jules? Because it's not a case of us,
- 24:29Speaker 1: just a lot of us being just involved with Pedro.
- 24:31Speaker 1: A lot of us have got a Palmer or a
- 24:33Speaker 1: Rodgers as well.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I mean, we saw in that Brentford game how indispensable
- 24:40Speaker 3: he is, really. And I think you could look at
- 24:42Speaker 3: Palmer and say, OK, he's probably the most talented of
- 24:44Speaker 3: the three. Shaw, Rodgers, as we've said before. I think
- 24:48Speaker 3: maybe not, although he's done really well so far, but
- 24:50Speaker 3: maybe not on the same level as a Palmer and
- 24:52Speaker 3: Joel Pedro. And then Joel Pedro is not there and
- 24:53Speaker 3: it looks like they don't know how to play football anymore.
- 24:56Speaker 3: The link-up wasn't there. Danny Welbeck is obviously a very
- 24:58Speaker 3: different forward than Joel Pedro and at his age now,
- 25:03Speaker 3: probably not as talented and not as good. So you
- 25:05Speaker 3: saw that with Joel Pedro, the whole Chelsea attacking fluidity
- 25:10Speaker 3: was absent. And for the team that has been great
- 25:12Speaker 3: going forward since the start of the season, And in
- 25:16Speaker 3: a tough game, if he'd been maybe a weaker opponent,
- 25:19Speaker 3: João Pedro's absence might have not felt the same. But
- 25:23Speaker 3: certainly in this game, it was. And they had literally nothing.
- 25:28Speaker 3: They were so poor creatively. partly because he wasn't there.
- 25:32Speaker 3: So yeah, he's huge. This is the longest break ever.
- 25:35Speaker 3: We've never had such a long break through the season, right?
- 25:38Speaker 3: Apart from the 2022 World Cup. So let's hope that
- 25:41Speaker 3: this is long enough for him to be able to
- 25:43Speaker 3: recover because Chelsea, I think, need him badly at the
- 25:45Speaker 3: start of when the Premier League restarts.
- 25:48Speaker 1: What about Man City then? Because we were probably a
- 25:51Speaker 1: bit disappointed, although I was just hugely relieved that Haaland
- 25:54Speaker 1: got His goal, another return for Gvardio. And it's funny
- 25:58Speaker 1: because I obviously am looking at this from a slightly
- 26:00Speaker 1: different point of view because I'm wildcarding. And Gvardio, I
- 26:03Speaker 1: wanted straight in my team, but I'm seeing a lot
- 26:05Speaker 1: of other people wildcard and they're not interested. Maybe that, Sam,
- 26:08Speaker 1: is because there's so many other options that are a
- 26:10Speaker 1: little bit cheaper that have better fixtures. But for me,
- 26:13Speaker 1: Gvardio is currently in my draft because he is almost
- 26:17Speaker 1: not fixture-proof, but the fact that he's providing attacking returns
- 26:20Speaker 1: even when City are conceding makes him really enticing for me.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, the Man City fixtures are mixed, I
- 26:28Speaker 4: think we'd say. Obviously, we've mentioned they come back after
- 26:30Speaker 4: the break into that game against Liverpool. But then it's Ipswich, Villa, Brighton,
- 26:35Speaker 4: who suddenly feel like they should be red on all
- 26:37Speaker 4: fixture tickets because they're playing so well at the moment.
- 26:40Speaker 4: And then Forest. So it's definitely a mixed bag of
- 26:43Speaker 4: fixtures for them. But the thing with Gavardio, as Jules knows,
- 26:46Speaker 4: because he's had him since the beginning of the season,
- 26:48Speaker 4: is that the clean sheet doesn't stick. And okay, that
- 26:50Speaker 4: feels frustrating. But then he goes and gets an attacking
- 26:53Speaker 4: return instead. And I think those route to points that
- 26:56Speaker 4: Gavardio has suddenly got in his locker this season makes
- 26:59Speaker 4: him a player that if I was wildcarding, I think
- 27:01Speaker 4: he would have been one of the first defenders that
- 27:03Speaker 4: I'd have put in. I'd have had Van Hecke, who
- 27:04Speaker 4: we've already talked about. I would have had an Everton defender.
- 27:09Speaker 4: And I think what I like about them is that
- 27:11Speaker 4: you can go different price points. Obviously, Tarkov, is the
- 27:13Speaker 4: best and the most, he's the most points amongst the
- 27:17Speaker 4: defenders this season, but you've got Branthwaite or you go
- 27:19Speaker 4: down again to Mikalenko to afford them. Whereas you look
- 27:22Speaker 4: at that Manchester City defence, Gavardial feels like a bit
- 27:25Speaker 4: of a bargain, to be honest, at the price that
- 27:27Speaker 4: he is to have a Manchester City defender for that price,
- 27:31Speaker 4: despite some price rises and constant returns all the time.
- 27:35Speaker 4: So yeah, I'd have him if I was wildcarding. So
- 27:38Speaker 4: I'm not surprised to see him in your team.
- 27:40Speaker 1: What about the rest of City? I've got Semenu in
- 27:42Speaker 1: at the moment purely because he was taking a price
- 27:44Speaker 1: rise and I'm playing the price rise in the full game.
- 27:45Speaker 1: He's not going to be in there long term. I'm
- 27:47Speaker 1: just hoping he takes two price rises so that I
- 27:49Speaker 1: can gain a little bit of money out of him.
- 27:51Speaker 1: He's very much a placeholder at the moment. But is
- 27:55Speaker 1: Haaland and Guardiola, are they the only two? It just
- 27:59Speaker 1: feels like every week we don't quite know who to
- 28:01Speaker 1: go with in midfield, who's going to return and who's
- 28:03Speaker 1: going to ultimately start. I know we saw a return
- 28:05Speaker 1: for Enzo at the weekend.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's, you know, one for Enzo, one for Schalke,
- 28:09Speaker 3: one for Semenyo. Semenyo had a really good game, obviously,
- 28:12Speaker 3: against Sunderland. And that's why I think he's fourth as
- 28:15Speaker 3: the best midfielder in terms of points so far this season.
- 28:18Speaker 3: But before the Sunderland, that's mostly because of the Sunderland game.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Before that, it was a bit more difficult for him.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Don't forget, Doku will come back. At some point, you
- 28:26Speaker 3: can't play and Doku and Semenyo and NDI and Schalke
- 28:31Speaker 3: and Haaland. And even Enzo, I think at some point,
- 28:34Speaker 3: might play a bit higher up the pitch. It's for
- 28:36Speaker 3: them to come back from the suspension after the red
- 28:38Speaker 3: card in the derby. So you're right. It feels a
- 28:40Speaker 3: little bit in terms of attacking position outside of Highlands
- 28:43Speaker 3: is where do we go? And it might be a
- 28:45Speaker 3: bit hit and miss on you go for Semenyo, but
- 28:48Speaker 3: that game week is Schalke that returns. But then Schalke
- 28:51Speaker 3: doesn't return the following week. But Semenyo, I think we
- 28:53Speaker 3: maybe need to wait a bit to see who's the
- 28:55Speaker 3: most consistent outside of Highlands. Just to finish on Vardal,
- 28:59Speaker 3: I think he's great. I would probably put him in
- 29:01Speaker 3: my wildcard. I would rather... him having all those points
- 29:05Speaker 3: from a defensive point of view, so with defensive performances,
- 29:10Speaker 3: because I think attacking returns can't be sustainable for a
- 29:13Speaker 3: centre-back playing left-back. At some point, he will stop scoring
- 29:16Speaker 3: or assisting. He can't continue like that through the whole season.
- 29:19Speaker 3: So I would rather them being stronger defensively because against Sunderland,
- 29:23Speaker 3: it was literally the open day at school that you
- 29:28Speaker 3: go and visit because you want to join secondary school.
- 29:30Speaker 3: It was ridiculous how many I mean, the XG for
- 29:33Speaker 3: Sunderland in that game was, I think, one of the
- 29:36Speaker 3: highest that City have conceded in recent seasons. It was
- 29:38Speaker 3: embarrassing to a certain point. And they won, great, but
- 29:41Speaker 3: you can't concede three goals and an XG of four
- 29:44Speaker 3: every game. It's not possible. So they will have to
- 29:46Speaker 3: get stronger defensively. And for Varjo, that's why I worry
- 29:50Speaker 3: a little bit because the day the attacking return stops,
- 29:52Speaker 3: if there's no clean sheet behind, it will go back
- 29:54Speaker 3: to one or two points.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but you still have him.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'll keep him and I'm invested in him
- 30:00Speaker 3: and he's been good. But I would still put him
- 30:02Speaker 3: in your wildcard, Kels. I'm just saying this worries me
- 30:05Speaker 3: a little bit that all the points are coming from
- 30:07Speaker 3: attacking returns because for a defender, I think it's just
- 30:10Speaker 3: not sustainable.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Just finally, before we move on, how are you feeling
- 30:14Speaker 1: about Brobby, Jules?
- 30:16Speaker 3: I'm gutted. Don't even mention it. Sorry, but I'm normally
- 30:20Speaker 3: the butt of all this joke.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I'm getting him while I can.
- 30:24Speaker 3: But you know, the most FPL thing is that he
- 30:27Speaker 3: scores a hat-trick while Luisa, who we've just replaced him with,
- 30:30Speaker 3: missed a penalty where I'm like, you cannot, how would
- 30:33Speaker 3: you miss a penalty? How good you are at this level?
- 30:35Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. So yeah, it was, I love, but Broby
- 30:38Speaker 3: is great, but Broby won't have a hat-trick every weekend either.
- 30:40Speaker 3: We know that.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Kels, George, do you know that Broby's XG in this
- 30:45Speaker 4: game week was better, him personally, was better than 17
- 30:48Speaker 4: of the Premier League side's XGs this week?
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, there's a couple of, you know, it's,
- 30:52Speaker 3: Easy goals to score, really.
- 30:54Speaker 2: But still.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Outstanding. Outstanding work.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Okay, well, there was so much to talk about. We
- 30:59Speaker 1: could talk about that game week forever, but I think
- 31:01Speaker 1: part of us would like to forget it. So let's
- 31:03Speaker 1: move on and look ahead because, of course, we're in
- 31:05Speaker 1: now this elongated international break. Now, international breaks are often
- 31:09Speaker 1: popular times for managers to press the wildcard button because
- 31:12Speaker 1: you've got that little bit longer tinker. You can see
- 31:14Speaker 1: what happens over the break. And it's just a little
- 31:16Speaker 1: bit more fun, isn't it, to try and, as we
- 31:18Speaker 1: tried to educate Jules on last week, to play the
- 31:21Speaker 1: rises and falls. I'm in that stage at the moment, guys,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'll be honest, of checking the prices the last time
- 31:27Speaker 1: before I go to bed, which is very sad. Because,
- 31:30Speaker 1: of course, now we've got the function on the Premier
- 31:31Speaker 1: League website and the app where you can see if
- 31:33Speaker 1: prices are going to go up. It's not guaranteed, but
- 31:36Speaker 1: it gives you a really good indication as to how
- 31:37Speaker 1: many people are bringing them in and if a player
- 31:39Speaker 1: is going to go up at midnight. So that's really useful. Sam,
- 31:43Speaker 1: it feels like a lot of people are using this
- 31:45Speaker 1: opportunity like me to do it and it just makes
- 31:47Speaker 1: total sense, doesn't it? Don't at this point say it.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Doesn't because I've done it.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:52Speaker 2: No, it makes no sense.
- 31:53Speaker 1: No, it does.
- 31:54Speaker 2: It does make sense.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Like I think, um, yeah, I think so far we've
- 31:57Speaker 4: got about 260,000 managers on wild card. Um, and I
- 32:02Speaker 4: think it does, it does make sense. As Jules says,
- 32:04Speaker 4: the longest international break we've ever had. Um, and it
- 32:08Speaker 4: gives you that opportunity to kind of look, see what's happening.
- 32:11Speaker 4: There's some fixture swings that you can get on board with.
- 32:13Speaker 4: We've got five game weeks worth of knowledge and information
- 32:17Speaker 4: from the opening weeks of the season. Um, So yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 4: it absolutely does make sense. I think there are other
- 32:22Speaker 4: windows that you can do it in. And I think
- 32:24Speaker 4: a lot of managers will look at it. And this
- 32:26Speaker 4: kind of what I did with mine, I was kind
- 32:29Speaker 4: of thinking about it, but actually a lot of the
- 32:32Speaker 4: players that are in my team are the ones that
- 32:33Speaker 4: I would go with anyway on wildcard. And I was
- 32:36Speaker 4: looking at it thinking, how many actual changes would I make?
- 32:39Speaker 4: Probably not that many. And I think it's, there's a
- 32:43Speaker 4: kind of double-edged sword to this where don't just do
- 32:45Speaker 4: it because your friends are doing it, do it because
- 32:48Speaker 4: your team needs it because you think it's, it's worth it.
- 32:51Speaker 4: And because you're on the wrong players. Um, but also don't, um,
- 32:56Speaker 4: don't not do it just out of stubbornness, because I
- 32:58Speaker 4: also think that that can be a part of it.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Like sometimes you go, wow, I'm just going to hold
- 33:02Speaker 4: fire with these guys, even if they haven't been returning.
- 33:04Speaker 4: So it is definitely a, a conversation that you have
- 33:07Speaker 4: to have with yourself to decide whether it's the right
- 33:09Speaker 4: thing for your team personally or not.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:11Speaker 1: That was kind of what I did. And, Actually, I
- 33:14Speaker 1: don't know as many people as I thought wildcarding. For example,
- 33:16Speaker 1: you're not wildcarding, are you? And you plan to.
- 33:19Speaker 3: No.
- 33:20Speaker 1: What changed your mind?
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think I would have been tempted. But again,
- 33:25Speaker 3: I thought, like Sam just said, I look at my
- 33:28Speaker 3: team and, okay, I need to sort out the Bruno
- 33:29Speaker 3: Fernandes situation because I don't... I don't like him right now. Bruno,
- 33:34Speaker 3: I really don't like you right now. I think there's
- 33:36Speaker 3: a lot of Bruno owners who don't like you. You know,
- 33:38Speaker 3: it's not just me. And I don't know what to do,
- 33:40Speaker 3: to be honest. It feels like I want to let
- 33:43Speaker 3: him go and I can't keep keeping him and say, okay,
- 33:46Speaker 3: next week is going to be better, Bruno, don't worry.
- 33:48Speaker 3: But it got to this point where it's costing me
- 33:50Speaker 3: too much for the rubbish that he does on the
- 33:54Speaker 3: pitch and that he brings me, really. You know, there's
- 33:55Speaker 3: no point there. There's nothing. So, But I don't need
- 33:59Speaker 3: a wildcard for that. I've got two free transfers. I
- 34:01Speaker 3: think I could just manage and wait a little bit
- 34:04Speaker 3: more to see. The start of my season has been good.
- 34:07Speaker 3: This squad has been good. I've used a few transfers. Okay,
- 34:10Speaker 3: apart from Wissam and Broby, quite good. So it just
- 34:13Speaker 3: felt like it would be unnecessary, really. So I'm going
- 34:16Speaker 3: to wait a bit.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you're also heavily invested in Brighton. Both of you
- 34:20Speaker 1: have got Brighton investment, whereas I kind of looked at it.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Because Sam, our teams aren't that different. But our differences
- 34:25Speaker 1: have been the difference in our points this season in
- 34:27Speaker 1: terms of you've had returns from Van Hecke, you've had
- 34:30Speaker 1: Verbruggen as an alternative option to Kinski, whereas I've only
- 34:33Speaker 1: had Kinski on the weeks where Spurs haven't kept clean sheets.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And yeah, so for me, I was just like, I
- 34:39Speaker 1: am that little bit behind, only what, 20 points or something.
- 34:42Speaker 1: But for me, it just made sense that actually, if
- 34:44Speaker 1: I want to make the most of it and try
- 34:45Speaker 1: and catch up ground, I'm notoriously later using my chips.
- 34:49Speaker 1: But this made a lot of sense. So I've been
- 34:51Speaker 1: told I've got to run through the wildcard on this,
- 34:53Speaker 1: but I'm going to caveat this with it. It's not
- 34:56Speaker 1: a finished product at all, because as I said, I
- 34:57Speaker 1: am rising the price rise. I'm also on holiday at
- 34:59Speaker 1: the moment, although I'm very committed to FPL and checking
- 35:02Speaker 1: it every night. The price rises, as I said, there
- 35:05Speaker 1: is an element of, I'll get a little bit more
- 35:06Speaker 1: serious sometimes.
- 35:07Speaker 3: You've got plenty of time too, Kels, to be fair. Yeah, exactly.
- 35:10Speaker 3: You've got plenty of time to.
- 35:12Speaker 1: So at the moment I have kind of, the first
- 35:14Speaker 1: things I did were, like I said, I brought in
- 35:16Speaker 1: Pascal Gross on that Friday night, because regardless, I wanted him,
- 35:19Speaker 1: whether that was just one of my three free transfers
- 35:21Speaker 1: or not. Also, I think that's a really important point,
- 35:24Speaker 1: isn't it? That in the last few years, it was
- 35:25Speaker 1: about two, three years ago, Sam, where the rule changed,
- 35:28Speaker 1: where you could keep your transfers. And that made a
- 35:31Speaker 1: big thing for me because I kept three transfers going
- 35:33Speaker 1: into this international break. So I had that as an option.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I was like, I could just use my three transfers,
- 35:38Speaker 1: but I liked the idea of having my wild card
- 35:40Speaker 1: and then knowing I've got those transfers after. I just
- 35:42Speaker 1: decided to do it that way around. Whereas Sam, I
- 35:44Speaker 1: guess you're the opposite, aren't you? In terms of you
- 35:46Speaker 1: just decided to do it, keep your transfers, use your
- 35:49Speaker 1: transfers and keep your wild card. Yeah, exactly.
- 35:51Speaker 4: I'm playing it the other way because I had three
- 35:54Speaker 4: free transfers, same as you did. I was kind of like, well,
- 35:56Speaker 4: I could make three transfers now. It feels like a
- 35:58Speaker 4: bit of a mini wildcard anyway. And then I've still
- 36:01Speaker 4: got my wildcard for further down the line. Obviously, if
- 36:03Speaker 4: something major goes off over the international break and suddenly
- 36:05Speaker 4: I lose three players, then it's an easy hit on
- 36:07Speaker 4: the wildcard and I'll get my three transfers back. So yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 4: for me, I'm playing it that way right now.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, my three transfers that I wanted to
- 36:15Speaker 1: make were all in different positions. So actually I needed
- 36:17Speaker 1: more than three transfers to be able to do it.
- 36:20Speaker 1: so to speak so this is where I'm at at
- 36:21Speaker 1: the moment I've gone with Rea in goal purely because
- 36:24Speaker 1: he was going to have a price rise I'm not
- 36:26Speaker 1: going to keep Rea but I wanted when the price
- 36:29Speaker 1: rise happened I can't remember what day it was now
- 36:30Speaker 1: it was earlier this week I didn't I hadn't decided
- 36:33Speaker 1: on goalkeepers and I still haven't so I was like
- 36:35Speaker 1: I'll just bring in Rea and I'll also bring in
- 36:37Speaker 1: Salakis because he also as he has his price rise
- 36:40Speaker 1: he was due to yeah I don't know if he's
- 36:41Speaker 1: had it yet he was due.
- 36:43Speaker 3: To it's 4.6 now yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 1: So I brought those two in because I'm having price
- 36:46Speaker 1: rises and they're options in there if I want them
- 36:50Speaker 1: I'm probably not going to do that because I don't
- 36:51Speaker 1: want to treble up on the Arsenal defence and I've
- 36:53Speaker 1: kept Konza and Calafiori. I don't treble Arsenal defence, not
- 36:58Speaker 1: just because of what we saw against Brighton, but it's
- 36:59Speaker 1: just too much for me. Double sends me into a
- 37:02Speaker 1: cold sweat as it is. So I'm probably going to
- 37:05Speaker 1: move off Raya.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Who were you likely to go with, do you think?
- 37:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I need to look into a couple of rotating ones.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I'm not going to do what I did. I didn't
- 37:12Speaker 1: enjoy Kinskin to Bravko. I didn't enjoy it.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I could have told you that pre-season.
- 37:18Speaker 3: And what about keeping Raya but getting rid of one
- 37:21Speaker 3: of Calafiori and Konza? Who do I get rid of?
- 37:24Speaker 1: You can't get rid of Konza at his price point.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I just don't think you can.
- 37:27Speaker 3: So for the price point, Konza is better. For what
- 37:31Speaker 3: one of them can bring onto the pitch, certainly attacking-wise,
- 37:34Speaker 3: as we've been explaining with Calafiori since the start of
- 37:37Speaker 3: the season, Calafiori is better. So it's just, if you
- 37:40Speaker 3: need more on the budget side... then I think keep Konza.
- 37:44Speaker 3: And Konza and Raya would be really nice too and
- 37:46Speaker 3: let Calafiori go.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Raya is expensive, isn't he?
- 37:50Speaker 3: I know, but he's still also... I know the Brighton
- 37:53Speaker 3: game was obviously disappointing, but he's still by far better
- 37:58Speaker 3: than anybody else.
- 37:59Speaker 4: The thing with Raya is that his extra threat is
- 38:02Speaker 4: way less, isn't it? So he's likely to get six.
- 38:05Speaker 4: He doesn't make that many saves usually because Arsenal defence
- 38:08Speaker 4: is so good that he doesn't have to. Whereas Calafuri's
- 38:12Speaker 4: got all that upside that goes with it. So you
- 38:14Speaker 4: kind of feel like if anyone's going to overachieve, it
- 38:16Speaker 4: would be Calafuri over Raya. So yeah, for me, I
- 38:21Speaker 4: think I would go for a doubling. Like actually laugh
- 38:25Speaker 4: about it all you like, but the Kinski-Verbruggen double up
- 38:29Speaker 4: has worked quite well in the opening weeks of the season.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Like going for two cheap rotating pair goalkeepers actually isn't bad.
- 38:37Speaker 4: And I think I would still do that over having a...
- 38:39Speaker 4: A premium asset.
- 38:40Speaker 2: It might consider Pickford though.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Trafford as well. Trafford has been good.
- 38:45Speaker 1: It also, I think, just depends the way you play,
- 38:47Speaker 1: doesn't it? In terms of, I never really like having
- 38:51Speaker 1: a premium goalkeeper and my budget, because I haven't wildcarded
- 38:54Speaker 1: early enough and been on the right players, my team
- 38:56Speaker 1: value isn't as high as it could have been. And
- 38:59Speaker 1: that's why I maybe don't have that extra money to spend.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Whereas I think Calafiori and Konza are pretty cheap for
- 39:04Speaker 1: what they can offer you. That's the way I view it. But, Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 1: we'll see. If I am to let one of them go,
- 39:09Speaker 1: it would be Calafiori, but then you lose in terms
- 39:11Speaker 1: of the two defenders, though it would be Calafiori I'd
- 39:13Speaker 1: let go. But I'm leaning towards not having Brea. As
- 39:17Speaker 1: it stands, my other defenders are De Kooiper, but I'm 90%.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I know the Mitoma threat is coming back, but I
- 39:24Speaker 1: still really like everything that De Kuyper.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Has to offer.
- 39:28Speaker 1: And yeah, I just think at his price point, he's
- 39:30Speaker 1: really good value. But obviously Vuskovic, if I wasn't to go,
- 39:32Speaker 1: there would be the other one that I would go with.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I've also gone for Lewis Hall, just because I think
- 39:38Speaker 1: Newcastle's defence has been good. Though there's a few defences
- 39:42Speaker 1: that I still want to go with the Leeds defence.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I haven't got a Leeds defender at the moment because...
- 39:47Speaker 1: I just can't get one in because I've got Guardiola.
- 39:49Speaker 1: So my three starting at the moment and the two
- 39:51Speaker 1: Arsenal boys, Guardiola, Haaland and Kuiper. That is my defence.
- 39:54Speaker 3: So no Everton.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Benching them every week is going to be hard, Cal.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's not. I think Guardiola, Jules has actually
- 40:03Speaker 1: made a really good point about if his attacking returns
- 40:05Speaker 1: dry up, it's a problem. So Guardiola is probably the
- 40:08Speaker 1: one likely to go. And the defences that I'm looking at, Brighton,
- 40:12Speaker 1: Leeds and Spurs in terms of Van Hecke. I think
- 40:16Speaker 1: Van Hecht could find his way in there at 4.9.
- 40:18Speaker 1: And I hate myself for saying that.
- 40:22Speaker 3: I mean, that's what Sam does to you.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Spent too much time with me. Everton aren't
- 40:28Speaker 1: off the table at all. I've seen a few people
- 40:30Speaker 1: talking about the Bournemouth defence as well, but I just
- 40:32Speaker 1: struggle a little bit with that one. They haven't yet won.
- 40:34Speaker 1: That's just for me. And I think Europe.
- 40:36Speaker 2: The pictures are nice, though.
- 40:37Speaker 1: They are nice, but they've got Europe as well, Sam.
- 40:40Speaker 1: And they've never had that before. Yeah, Petrovic is a
- 40:43Speaker 1: good shout. Actually, I should have asked you, Sam. I
- 40:46Speaker 1: don't know why I'd ask you of all the people,
- 40:48Speaker 1: but if you were picking new goalkeepers now, who would
- 40:49Speaker 1: you go with?
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, asking me about goalkeepers is a challenge. Didn't say
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'd take your advice. That's probably wise.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Do you know, I think I probably would stick with
- 41:03Speaker 4: Verbruggen and Kinski because they continue to rotate quite nicely
- 41:06Speaker 4: with each other and they're both cheap.
- 41:09Speaker 3: I do.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Like the idea of Trafford, if that gives you a
- 41:13Speaker 4: route into... to the Leeds defence again you can rotate
- 41:17Speaker 4: him quite nicely with Verbruggen so you could go for
- 41:20Speaker 4: a Trafford Verbruggen double up that works quite nicely I
- 41:23Speaker 4: don't mind Pickford at all either I think he looks
- 41:26Speaker 4: like a decent option for the fixtures that they have
- 41:28Speaker 4: coming up again rotates quite nicely with Kinski so you
- 41:31Speaker 4: could do a Pickford Kinski double up but then you
- 41:34Speaker 4: have to question whether you want to join me on
- 41:36Speaker 4: the chaos that is double Spurs defence although I don't
- 41:38Speaker 4: often play them I don't often play them both to
- 41:40Speaker 4: be fair very rarely do they get both played together
- 41:44Speaker 4: But those two are decent rotating pairings if you want
- 41:48Speaker 4: to go for a slightly more expensive with a budget friendly.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Okay. So yeah, I've still got a few headaches in defence,
- 41:55Speaker 1: but there will be, across my defence and keeper, there'll
- 41:58Speaker 1: be two Arsenal represented. There probably won't be a Gavardio,
- 42:01Speaker 1: but I just like sitting in my team for a
- 42:03Speaker 1: little bit. I think Hall and a Brighton defender are
- 42:06Speaker 1: going to stay and probably will be to Kuiper at
- 42:08Speaker 1: the moment. So my midfield, so the ones that are set, Gross,
- 42:11Speaker 1: as I said, came in. Morgan Rodgers is going to
- 42:13Speaker 1: stay for now. I brought in Harvey Barnes because I
- 42:17Speaker 1: liked him before the last game week. And I think
- 42:19Speaker 1: there's some opportunity there with Newcastle. And I don't think
- 42:21Speaker 1: his price point at 6.1 is too bad at all.
- 42:25Speaker 1: And then I've gone with Semenya as a holding point.
- 42:27Speaker 1: But I would really like Bukayo Saka to be in there.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Whether I can get the budget to do that, I
- 42:30Speaker 1: don't know. And then I've gone with Sharda. I'm not
- 42:34Speaker 1: sure if I've missed the boat with Sharda. But I
- 42:36Speaker 1: just think Brentford are brilliant and fun to own. And
- 42:38Speaker 1: I think at his price point as well. He's brilliant.
- 42:40Speaker 1: He's 6.2 at the moment. So they are my midfield.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Go on, give me some feedback.
- 42:46Speaker 3: No, on Shad adjust, because I looked at the stats
- 42:49Speaker 3: yesterday preparing for the show and he's been great. Three
- 42:51Speaker 3: goals in five, as you said, Brentford, outstanding, especially at home.
- 42:55Speaker 3: His XG for the three goals is 1.5. He's got,
- 42:59Speaker 3: he took 13 shots in the league so far, six
- 43:01Speaker 3: of them on target. In terms of rate conversion and efficiency,
- 43:06Speaker 3: This is at the level of top, top, top, top
- 43:09Speaker 3: strikers now and again, not even consistently, not even Haaland
- 43:12Speaker 3: has those kind of numbers this season. And yet, that's
- 43:15Speaker 3: shattered for you. So I don't know what he ate
- 43:17Speaker 3: during the summer, what he did during the summer, what's
- 43:20Speaker 3: happening right now. And if you keep him, if you
- 43:23Speaker 3: get him in your team, I wish for you that
- 43:25Speaker 3: he stays like this. I don't know again how sustainable
- 43:27Speaker 3: this is for him to like basically score one every
- 43:31Speaker 3: two shots. It's pretty much that. One every two shots
- 43:34Speaker 3: on target and pretty much one you know the one
- 43:37Speaker 3: every two shots he's on target too so this would
- 43:40Speaker 3: be incredible and he's clearly very much improved in his
- 43:43Speaker 3: own being clinical and his own efficiency but he's been
- 43:45Speaker 3: outstanding so far this season so I you know I
- 43:48Speaker 3: would put him in my wildcard team too yeah so.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I think probably four of those five or three of
- 43:53Speaker 1: the five are definitely set four of them probably as
- 43:56Speaker 1: I said Semenya is just a hold I would really
- 43:58Speaker 1: like Semenya to become Saka Sam your thoughts It always
- 44:01Speaker 1: scares me. I feel, you know, when you feel like
- 44:02Speaker 1: you're at school and you're getting your homework marks.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. She's the head, the headmaster. You know, you
- 44:06Speaker 3: go to the headmaster office.
- 44:08Speaker 2: That was my old job though, wasn't it?
- 44:09Speaker 4: Before I did this, I get my, put my teacher
- 44:11Speaker 4: face back on. Um, no, I, I quite like it. I, I,
- 44:14Speaker 4: Sharda would be a conversation for me as well. Cause
- 44:17Speaker 4: I think I would be inclined on Foreman and what
- 44:19Speaker 4: we've seen so far to put him in. But then
- 44:22Speaker 4: I also think that wild cards are an opportunity to, um,
- 44:26Speaker 4: be a little bit different and to try and get
- 44:28Speaker 4: on players that have got decent underlying numbers before they
- 44:31Speaker 4: go big with them. So if I was wildcarding right now,
- 44:35Speaker 4: I would almost certainly put Tavernier in there.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, my boy.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I think he looks.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Like a really good option at the moment, playing incredibly
- 44:44Speaker 4: well in that Bournemouth side. And yeah, all right, we
- 44:46Speaker 4: haven't seen clean sheets and stuff from them, but we
- 44:48Speaker 4: are seeing attacking returns and he's kind of integral.
- 44:50Speaker 1: To everything they're doing. The Bournemouth attack is actually more
- 44:52Speaker 1: enticing than the Bournemouth defence by far.
- 44:54Speaker 3: And the numbers are much better than the points that
- 44:57Speaker 3: they've got. And I mean, you said they haven't won yet.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Which I think is important as well, Jules. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Either of them.
- 45:04Speaker 4: But for me, Tavernier, he just edges it. I just
- 45:07Speaker 4: think that when you're looking at that team and the
- 45:09Speaker 4: way that they're playing and their XG levels and what
- 45:12Speaker 4: they've returned already, they don't look like they're overachieving. They
- 45:15Speaker 4: look like actually they could be about to come into
- 45:18Speaker 4: a really good run and they've already kind of started
- 45:20Speaker 4: that already. And I think I'd also be inclined to
- 45:23Speaker 4: take a little bit of a punt on Josh King
- 45:25Speaker 4: at Fulham because the fixtures just look fantastic. So obviously
- 45:29Speaker 4: over the next couple of weeks, if you run the
- 45:31Speaker 4: fixture ticket through the next six, they sit second. So
- 45:34Speaker 4: it's Ipswich, Hull and Coventry in the next three before
- 45:37Speaker 4: Villa and Newcastle. And I think what we're seeing out
- 45:40Speaker 4: of that Fulham side, OK, defensively, I mean, you could
- 45:44Speaker 4: go for a Leno in goal if you want to,
- 45:45Speaker 4: but defensively, I'm not sure I would want to go there.
- 45:48Speaker 4: But in attack, it does feel like these fixtures that
- 45:51Speaker 4: they have coming up should be the moment. So defensively,
- 45:54Speaker 4: I think if I was wildcarding, I'd be tempted to
- 45:56Speaker 4: at least have one of those two differentials because if
- 45:59Speaker 4: you go for Bournemouth and for Fulham, they're all under
- 46:03Speaker 4: 10% owned. So going for a player from one of
- 46:05Speaker 4: those two sides or one each is a nice way
- 46:09Speaker 4: to differentiate your team without going really, really rogue because
- 46:13Speaker 4: for Bournemouth, we're seeing the form and for Fulham, we
- 46:15Speaker 4: have the fixtures as well.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Bournemouth have a little bit of bias towards them so
- 46:19Speaker 1: they could, well, there could be a spot in my team.
- 46:22Speaker 1: And to be honest, like, I've got two Newcastle players.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I'm not totally sold on Newcastle. And of course, there's
- 46:28Speaker 1: the international break. There's still, I mean, England has still
- 46:30Speaker 1: got to play how many more games? Like four games
- 46:33Speaker 1: or something ridiculous? A lot of teams have got to
- 46:35Speaker 1: play loads. So there's plenty of opportunities for, I don't know,
- 46:39Speaker 1: someone to get injured and all of that to change.
- 46:41Speaker 1: And then my front three hasn't changed at the moment,
- 46:43Speaker 1: but will. We've already addressed the Pedro elephant in the room.
- 46:47Speaker 1: We're just waiting on news of him. He could well
- 46:51Speaker 1: be a sold.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Where would you go if he's out?
- 46:54Speaker 3: Isak?
- 46:55Speaker 1: I would, I would, no, I wouldn't be able to.
- 46:57Speaker 2: She can't have the money for Isak.
- 46:59Speaker 1: I would go down. I think I would really, and
- 47:01Speaker 1: I'd put more money into my midfield.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Oh, burn the slot?
- 47:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 47:07Speaker 2: You haven't bench boosted though yet, have you?
- 47:09Speaker 1: No, that's the only thing. But then I've got three
- 47:10Speaker 1: transfers after. And I think there's some, I think even
- 47:13Speaker 1: like a Barry or someone like that, that's saving me
- 47:17Speaker 1: two million. Oh, just that low? Yeah. Yeah.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Okay.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Costulas actually took a price rise the other day
- 47:23Speaker 1: and I considered. bringing him in just to take that
- 47:26Speaker 1: slot for now but I didn't do it in the
- 47:27Speaker 1: end Calvert-Lewin's still in but I think there's a conversation
- 47:30Speaker 1: to be had there in terms of I think there's
- 47:33Speaker 1: there's some good options there and there is a world
- 47:34Speaker 1: where if Charles Pedro comes back fit and we know
- 47:37Speaker 1: he's gonna be available for for the next game week
- 47:40Speaker 1: then I could just sell I'd take Calvert-Lewin down a
- 47:42Speaker 1: little bit and just take a little bit more money
- 47:44Speaker 1: out of him I find him hard to sell because
- 47:46Speaker 1: he's been he has been so good but then they
- 47:48Speaker 1: didn't score last week and I'm it doesn't take much
- 47:51Speaker 1: for me to go and And they've got Arsenal away next.
- 47:54Speaker 1: But then Arsenal and Manchester United, although Manchester United is
- 47:58Speaker 1: another conversation. Bruno was a large part of the reason
- 48:01Speaker 1: I wildcarded as well. Sam, Jules has mentioned that he's
- 48:04Speaker 1: considering sorting his Bruno-sized headache. What I will say is
- 48:07Speaker 1: the moment I sold Bruno on this wildcard, it frees
- 48:10Speaker 1: up so many other possibilities in terms of my midfield
- 48:14Speaker 1: feels all a little bit more balanced. Like taking 12
- 48:17Speaker 1: million or whatever it is out of your team is scary,
- 48:20Speaker 1: but also good. Has he fallen yet? He was due
- 48:22Speaker 1: to fall. I don't know why I sold him early on.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I don't think he has. We'll check. I think he's
- 48:27Speaker 2: still at 12.
- 48:28Speaker 1: That's annoying for me.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I'm at a point where with him, I think,
- 48:35Speaker 4: oh no, he has fallen.
- 48:36Speaker 2: He's 11.9.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Also, that came into my thinking. I got reared and
- 48:40Speaker 1: I thought if I have real FOMO of Bruno or
- 48:43Speaker 1: something happens over the international break or want him back,
- 48:44Speaker 1: I can actually buy him back a bit cheaper.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 48:48Speaker 4: That's never a bad thing when they're sitting on a
- 48:50Speaker 4: price that's been their price the whole time, because you can,
- 48:53Speaker 4: if they do drop, you'll gain out of that.
- 48:57Speaker 2: See, Bruno is a reason why I.
- 48:58Speaker 4: Haven't wildcarded this week, because he faces Spurs next. And despite,
- 49:03Speaker 4: you know, us talking about Van Hek and my Spurs
- 49:07Speaker 4: biases that come out every now and then, I do
- 49:11Speaker 4: think that they could do quite well against us, particularly
- 49:13Speaker 4: in attack. So it's at Old Trafford as well. So
- 49:17Speaker 4: I'm going to just give him one more week, see
- 49:19Speaker 4: how he performs in that game against Spurs, and then
- 49:21Speaker 4: I'll make a decision from there. Because to be honest
- 49:23Speaker 4: with Bruno, every midfielder is viable from him. So it
- 49:27Speaker 4: gives me an opportunity to just go, okay, let's watch
- 49:30Speaker 4: one more week. Let's give him that Spurs.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Game where I think he actually could potentially do quite well.
- 49:36Speaker 4: And in the moments that follow, there's an opportunity then
- 49:39Speaker 4: to go anywhere else from him instead. And it might
- 49:43Speaker 4: be that that coincides with selling Spurs Solis to go
- 49:47Speaker 4: up to Saka or similar so we'll kind of cross
- 49:50Speaker 4: that bridge for game week seven I think Jules what
- 49:53Speaker 4: are you going to do with him?
- 49:54Speaker 3: Yeah I think I'll do the same I'll give him
- 49:56Speaker 3: one more chance and then see what happens but I
- 49:59Speaker 3: just think with the ball they've been struggling.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I can see it now it's bad.
- 50:04Speaker 3: It's okay because you know you'll have Tavernier instead.
- 50:10Speaker 1: And Sharda and all those other top... And at last
- 50:12Speaker 1: I'll have Pascal Gross if I get sent off or something.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:15Speaker 2: About 800 million in the bank.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. You'd be really rich in the bank.
- 50:18Speaker 4: I'm actually surprised you can't afford ESAC with that midfield.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I've got 0.5 in the bank. My team value isn't great.
- 50:26Speaker 1: That's why I also wanted to use this break. That
- 50:28Speaker 1: was a big part of the reason because I remember
- 50:30Speaker 1: one of my learnings from last year was saying I
- 50:32Speaker 1: wildcarded too late and it really affected my team value.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And so I went, I've got 0.5. I don't know
- 50:37Speaker 1: what my team value is overall. Right, I'm getting messages
- 50:39Speaker 1: saying we've got more over. Guys, we've got two more
- 50:42Speaker 1: pods before there's any more football. And I promise you
- 50:44Speaker 1: my wildcard will have changed a lot in that time.
- 50:46Speaker 1: So you can continue assessing it.
- 50:48Speaker 3: You can do the whole next week's show on your
- 50:50Speaker 3: wildcard if you want. Yeah, exactly.
- 50:51Speaker 4: No, no, it's stressing me out too much.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Right, okay. As I said, no FPL for absolutely ages,
- 50:56Speaker 1: which is a bit rubbish, especially if you've got a
- 50:57Speaker 1: wildcard active.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Because it means a lot of stressing.
- 51:01Speaker 1: But no, I'm actually quite enjoying it. It gave me
- 51:03Speaker 1: a little bit of fun after a really stressful game
- 51:04Speaker 1: week because... I could rage transfer out of all of
- 51:07Speaker 1: those players with blanks pretty much. Just remind though, if
- 51:11Speaker 1: you aren't playing your wild card, don't be too, don't
- 51:13Speaker 1: use all your transfers now. Keep an eye on the
- 51:15Speaker 1: price change, of course, but so much can happen because
- 51:17Speaker 1: there's so much football, not Premier League football, international football
- 51:21Speaker 1: to be played. But as we said, we'll be here
- 51:22Speaker 1: every single week during the break. So we'll be back
- 51:24Speaker 1: next Thursday and the following Thursday as well. So don't
- 51:27Speaker 1: go anywhere. And if you haven't subscribed to us yet, guys,
- 51:29Speaker 1: make sure you do. We are building up quite a
- 51:31Speaker 1: little community on here. And of course, Join our FPL
- 51:34Speaker 1: pod mini league and we'll be back next Thursday. Bye.
