Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Kate Torver. I'm Amy Torver. And I'm Sophie Torver. And
- 0:13Speaker 1: coming up on today's show, Sam Wood's Supreme Court bid
- 0:17Speaker 1: for freedom, Rochelle and G Flip's shock split, and Saffron
- 0:21Speaker 1: Barker's rumoured new beau. But first, we are still riding
- 0:25Speaker 1: the high from Hilary Duff. I had probably the best
- 0:28Speaker 1: time I've had in a very long time. I know
- 0:30Speaker 1: there were a few big calls going on.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I think.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Halfway through the concert, I whispered to you, this is
- 0:35Speaker 1: better than Taylor Swift. That's a big call to make, Amy.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'd like to say that they were on par. I
- 0:40Speaker 1: think the reason why we enjoyed the Hilary Duff concert
- 0:42Speaker 1: so much was because it felt intimate in comparison to
- 0:46Speaker 1: Taylor Swift's huge show in front of 90,000 people. But also,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Hilary was our OG girl from back in the day.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We got paid out at school for liking Hilary Duff
- 0:54Speaker 1: so much. Yeah, when I was looking around, I was like,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I didn't know that this many people liked Hilary Duff
- 0:59Speaker 1: when I was at school. I think it was also
- 1:01Speaker 1: because it was 20 years in the making and I
- 1:03Speaker 1: truly thought I would never see her perform live again.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And she has just gone up a complete notch. Like
- 1:09Speaker 1: her voice sounded so good live. And I noticed that
- 1:13Speaker 1: on every single reel that goes up about Hillary, people
- 1:16Speaker 1: discuss whether they think the mic is on. The mic
- 1:19Speaker 1: is definitely on. Do you know what I've been wanting
- 1:20Speaker 1: to talk about for a while is how we've all
- 1:23Speaker 1: turned a blind eye to Sheen now. I keep seeing
- 1:25Speaker 1: all these TikToks of everyone saying, oh, my Sheen orders
- 1:27Speaker 1: just arrived for the Hilary Duff concert. Everyone's wearing the
- 1:30Speaker 1: green sparkles and the purple sparkles. When did it become
- 1:33Speaker 1: socially acceptable to shop from there? I think because of
- 1:35Speaker 1: cost of living pressures, honestly. Like I'm not throwing shade
- 1:38Speaker 1: at people because I've done, you know, the secret Sheen
- 1:41Speaker 1: purchase for, you know, kids' birthday parties, but you just
- 1:44Speaker 1: usually don't mention it. It was the fact that the
- 1:46Speaker 1: economy's turned to shit and everyone can only afford Sheen.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I mean, my top was from Sheen. It cost me $ 9. 00.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And it was quite funny because I had that moment
- 1:53Speaker 1: just before the concert when we were getting ready and
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm like, do I go comfy? And it's quite funny
- 1:58Speaker 1: because I think it's only since Taylor Swift's concert that
- 2:01Speaker 1: it's turned into a bit of a fashion parade before
- 2:03Speaker 1: you get there. Like there's a lot of pressure on
- 2:06Speaker 1: what you wear. I was the devil on your shoulder
- 2:07Speaker 1: because I just wanted to go comfy. After being slightly
- 2:10Speaker 1: uncomfortable at Taylor Swift, I was like, who are we
- 2:12Speaker 1: performing for? I just want to sit in the crowd.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I want to be comfortable. I want to stand up.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I want to enjoy this concert. Also, it was raining
- 2:19Speaker 1: a lot in Melbourne yesterday. on Sunday and Monday. The
- 2:21Speaker 1: concert was Monday night and we were standing inside luckily
- 2:25Speaker 1: and there was just this downpour of rain and people
- 2:27Speaker 1: were getting absolutely saturated. I felt so sorry for them
- 2:29Speaker 1: because there's nothing more uncomfortable than wet sparkles. I've got
- 2:31Speaker 1: another controversial call, you guys. I actually think that some
- 2:34Speaker 1: of the people at the concert shouldn't have been allowed
- 2:36Speaker 1: tickets because the amount of people who just sat in
- 2:39Speaker 1: their chairs, I've been seeing people comment on TikTok as well,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and they didn't know the words to her new music
- 2:45Speaker 1: and it's her new music is really good. Or some
- 2:46Speaker 1: of the old music. There were some who were only
- 2:49Speaker 1: getting around, this is what dreams are made of. And
- 2:51Speaker 1: so yesterday, I was disgusted. And for me, I am
- 2:55Speaker 1: not the dancing type. I'm not the person to scream
- 2:58Speaker 1: at concerts. But I felt it was my duty to
- 3:00Speaker 1: do so because I was looking at Hilary. She's fucking
- 3:03Speaker 1: taken 20 years to come here. I want her to
- 3:05Speaker 1: come here again. I was screaming that loudly that I've
- 3:07Speaker 1: ruined every single one of the videos I filmed. That
- 3:11Speaker 1: night we got back from the concert. I went to play.
- 3:13Speaker 1: out loud and I thought, yeah, I'll share them to TikTok.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'll share them to Outspoken. I have not been able
- 3:17Speaker 1: to share any of them because I first listened to
- 3:20Speaker 1: my video of Wake Up and I was like, oh
- 3:22Speaker 1: my God, I can hear Hilary's voice crack. What happened there?
- 3:25Speaker 1: She sounded pretty good live. I realized it was my
- 3:27Speaker 1: hideous voice over the top. We need to insert one.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Can we insert one, please? It's hilarious.
- 3:32Speaker 2: No.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I was actually so proud of you, Sophie, and I
- 3:34Speaker 1: was so proud of us. And there was a guy
- 3:36Speaker 1: standing in front of us And I felt like we
- 3:39Speaker 1: were on the same wavelength. We were the ones in
- 3:41Speaker 1: our section getting into it because we were in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: seated section. And my blood boiled because you had Wake
- 3:47Speaker 1: Up First, absolute banger. Everyone was into it. And I
- 3:50Speaker 1: was like, this is great because I'd heard some people
- 3:52Speaker 1: who went to the Brisbane show saying that the audience
- 3:55Speaker 1: were crap. They weren't getting into it. People were talking
- 3:58Speaker 1: in the crowd. I even saw a video that went
- 4:00Speaker 1: viral of a woman online shopping. And I'm like, that
- 4:04Speaker 1: person should have been kicked out of the venue because Anyway,
- 4:06Speaker 1: so I was like, oh, brilliant. People were getting into it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: People got into it. So yesterday, as soon as she
- 4:10Speaker 1: started playing weather for tennis, there was this shift where
- 4:13Speaker 1: people sort of sat down or literally exited the venue
- 4:17Speaker 1: to go to the toilet. There was a couple behind
- 4:19Speaker 1: us who I saw, I don't know if they were
- 4:21Speaker 1: pissed off at us for standing up, but they exited
- 4:24Speaker 1: to go get food and then they eventually came back.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And I'm thinking, we paid $ 400 a piece for these tickets.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Were you gifted them? Like, why are you not all
- 4:32Speaker 1: about it? And also, Weather for Tennis is an absolute banger.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm losing my voice now. I'm hoping it's because of,
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know, me screaming at the concert and not because
- 4:41Speaker 1: of the people who were sick in front of us
- 4:42Speaker 1: on the plane. Do you know what I noticed? It
- 4:45Speaker 1: was all the people wearing butterfly clips who were sitting down. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: there was this row of girls in front of us.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It was all the Lizzie McGuire stans who actually never
- 4:52Speaker 1: followed Hilary Duff for her music. This is reminding me
- 4:54Speaker 1: of a couple of months ago when Shane Warne's daughters
- 4:57Speaker 1: got flack for dancing and standing up in the seated
- 4:59Speaker 1: area at the Ed Sheeran concert. I think someone threatened
- 5:02Speaker 1: to pour water over them or did pour water over
- 5:05Speaker 1: them because they were sort of like, fuck off, we're dancing.
- 5:07Speaker 1: What blows my mind is who dedicates a couple of
- 5:10Speaker 1: days to sit in the Ticketek online waiting room to
- 5:13Speaker 1: get tickets to Hilary Duff? This was not an easy
- 5:16Speaker 1: concert to get tickets to. And then doesn't do their
- 5:18Speaker 1: due diligence and actually listen to the person's album. Like,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I just don't get it. This is why I was outraged.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It wasn't so much for myself. It was for those
- 5:27Speaker 1: genuine Hilary Duff fans who missed out on tickets because
- 5:29Speaker 1: I saw a lot of people sharing on socials that
- 5:31Speaker 1: they were devastated that Hilary was in town and they
- 5:34Speaker 1: couldn't see her. I also felt for Hilary because her album,
- 5:38Speaker 1: her new album is an absolute banger. I enjoyed the
- 5:40Speaker 1: new songs more than I did the old ones. Oh
- 5:43Speaker 1: my gosh, how good was Adult Size Medium? See, I
- 5:45Speaker 1: was joking on the Mums group that I hadn't got
- 5:47Speaker 1: around that one yet. It took me a couple of
- 5:50Speaker 1: weeks and it's my favourite song. So everyone go and
- 5:53Speaker 1: listen to her new music. Oh, and her Christmas music.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That's really good as well. That actually dropped this week.
- 5:58Speaker 1: It was like a gift from the gods. One thing
- 6:01Speaker 1: I'm so cut about is behind the scenes, we have
- 6:04Speaker 1: been working desperately to get Hilary Duff on Outspoken and
- 6:07Speaker 1: I thought we were in with a chance. And then
- 6:10Speaker 1: when we didn't hear anything coming closer to the date,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh, okay, she mustn't be doing any media. Well,
- 6:15Speaker 1: our network kindly were reaching out to Hilary Duff's people.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And when we didn't hear anything a few days out,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I had to use my journalistic skills. And I reached
- 6:23Speaker 1: out to Hilary's management at Warner and was like, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 1: can we please get an interview, blah, blah, blah. And
- 6:27Speaker 1: they're like, oh, I'm so sorry. Like we've just done
- 6:30Speaker 1: her press junket. And I was so angry at myself
- 6:34Speaker 1: because I pride myself in being, I used to get
- 6:37Speaker 1: called a weasel at work, being able to track people down.
- 6:39Speaker 1: make things happen, but I was a day late. I
- 6:42Speaker 1: was absolutely devastated. And then she did a Spotify event,
- 6:45Speaker 1: which media were allowed to attend, but we had no
- 6:47Speaker 1: idea anyway, just kicking ourselves. And that Instagram event, that
- 6:51Speaker 1: absolutely boiled my blood, seeing all of those creatives randomly invited.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Of course, this is coming from pure jealousy. Good for them,
- 7:00Speaker 1: but I was incredibly jealous. I saw Olivia White was there.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Good on her. Do you know what this is? Because
- 7:05Speaker 1: when Hilary came to Australia, we spent, I think it
- 7:07Speaker 1: was three days being the biggest losers on earth and
- 7:10Speaker 1: tracking her down. This is 20 years ago. In a
- 7:13Speaker 1: non-stalkerish way. We were at high school. And because we
- 7:15Speaker 1: met her last time she was here, I thought we
- 7:18Speaker 1: have to meet her again. But I was just so
- 7:20Speaker 1: desperate to update the photo because it is the worst
- 7:22Speaker 1: photo of, not to be rude, but it's not great,
- 7:25Speaker 1: of the three of us. We also had to cut
- 7:27Speaker 1: out our ex-best friend in the photo as well. Luckily,
- 7:29Speaker 1: she was on the end. So I've actually forgotten she
- 7:31Speaker 1: was in it. While we didn't get Hilary on the podcast,
- 7:33Speaker 1: our trip was made because we did get an interview
- 7:36Speaker 1: with Dr. Golley. And listeners of the Mums group will
- 7:38Speaker 1: know how exciting that is. That episode will be coming
- 7:42Speaker 1: out soon. I have to say... He lived up to
- 7:45Speaker 1: every expectation that I had. He was incredible. They say
- 7:48Speaker 1: that you should never meet your heroes, but in this instance,
- 7:51Speaker 1: he lived up to the hype. Well, it was also
- 7:53Speaker 1: exciting because we have recently signed to a new podcast network, Nova.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And whilst we were in Melbourne, we got to meet
- 8:00Speaker 1: the team and go in and record the interview with Dr. Golley.
- 8:03Speaker 1: We also ran into... friend of the podcast, Matt Zukowski.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And Amy, I've got to throw you under the bus here.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You presented him with a bottle of champagne, quite a
- 8:11Speaker 1: nice bottle of champagne. Well, I know he had that
- 8:13Speaker 1: court collection with Tammy, which was a bit of a failure.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So I thought we may as well give him a
- 8:16Speaker 1: bottle of champagne so he potentially could start a new
- 8:19Speaker 1: court collection. There's a bit of a backstory to it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So we will talk about it more in the subs
- 8:23Speaker 1: if you are interested in finding out more. We did
- 8:25Speaker 1: say we spoke so much smack about you on the show.
- 8:27Speaker 1: We think you deserve this. So he was absolutely lovely,
- 8:30Speaker 1: wasn't he? We also ran into Amber from Influencer updates
- 8:33Speaker 1: at the concert. I think a couple of people were like,
- 8:35Speaker 1: oh my God, this is the crossover we didn't know
- 8:37Speaker 1: we needed. But we will be chatting about that on
- 8:39Speaker 1: the subs episode. So tune in there.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I'm definitely never doing this again.
- 8:45Speaker 1: The internet is in shock after Chrishell Stouse announced her
- 8:48Speaker 1: split from G Flip. On Tuesday, the Selling Sunset star
- 8:52Speaker 1: revealed to her 4 million Instagram followers that their four-year
- 8:55Speaker 1: marriage was over.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I have a pretty humbling update to share with you guys.
- 9:03Speaker 3: G and I are no longer together and we have
- 9:08Speaker 3: agreed to treat this public separation with love and respect
- 9:14Speaker 3: for each other.
- 9:15Speaker 2: That's not hard for me because I am in love
- 9:19Speaker 2: with this person. Um, and I don't have all the
- 9:26Speaker 2: information or the reasons. And I, I just, I'm sure
- 9:29Speaker 2: just like always with time, you know, you get the
- 9:33Speaker 2: lessons you're meant to get. And I know that will
- 9:38Speaker 2: happen and I'm going to heal and everything's going to
- 9:41Speaker 2: be fine. I'm definitely never doing this again. But I
- 9:46Speaker 2: just felt like you guys deserved a little bit more
- 9:50Speaker 2: than a cold written statement because you have been so
- 9:52Speaker 2: supportive and so loving. And we really appreciate that. maybe,
- 9:59Speaker 2: you know, you can still do that but it would
- 10:02Speaker 2: have to be separately.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Wow, that already says so much. The fact that Chrishell
- 10:07Speaker 1: has said that she's still in love with G Flip
- 10:10Speaker 1: and she doesn't have all the information about or the
- 10:13Speaker 1: reason for the separation. So clearly she feels like she
- 10:17Speaker 1: has been blindsided by G Flip. Good on her for
- 10:19Speaker 1: actually releasing a video statement. Like I loved how she
- 10:22Speaker 1: was like, well, I didn't want to just do the
- 10:23Speaker 1: black and white tile. It's pretty awkward that G Flip
- 10:26Speaker 1: went on to post a written statement. Was anyone else
- 10:29Speaker 1: really shocked by this news? Because I was like, what?
- 10:32Speaker 1: I thought these two were legit, but everyone on the
- 10:35Speaker 1: comment section was like, oh no, picked this, like, oh,
- 10:38Speaker 1: knew this was going to happen. My jaw was on
- 10:40Speaker 1: the floor when this popped up. I thought they were
- 10:41Speaker 1: really cute together and seemed very much in love. What
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm confused about is why Chris Schell actually released this
- 10:47Speaker 1: statement if what she says is true, that she actually
- 10:50Speaker 1: doesn't know what's going on because she finished up by
- 10:52Speaker 1: saying that she'll always love G Flip and doesn't see
- 10:54Speaker 1: that changing. So clearly it sounds like she's the one
- 10:57Speaker 1: that got dumped and she's still very much in love
- 10:59Speaker 1: with G Flip and wants to make it work. It
- 11:01Speaker 1: sounds like she's trying to get G Flip's attention. Is
- 11:04Speaker 1: it kind of like when Molly May announced the split
- 11:06Speaker 1: from Tommy Fury, even though we all know she didn't
- 11:09Speaker 1: want that to happen? Possibly. Well, they were talking a
- 11:12Speaker 1: lot about potentially going through IVF treatments. So that's obviously
- 11:16Speaker 1: going to add a lot of pressure to a relationship. Well,
- 11:19Speaker 1: obviously there's been a lot of speculation about why they split.
- 11:22Speaker 1: A source told people that long distance has been a
- 11:24Speaker 1: major factor and apparently neither of them wanted to uproot
- 11:28Speaker 1: their lives for the other, which is obviously going to
- 11:30Speaker 1: be a big deal, particularly if you're talking about having kids.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Because I feel at that point, that's when you need
- 11:35Speaker 1: to set up a home base somewhere. This separation has
- 11:38Speaker 1: come at a really interesting time because G Flip's career
- 11:41Speaker 1: has absolutely exploded, particularly off the back of one of
- 11:45Speaker 1: their songs appearing on off-campus. So their career is soaring.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And I wonder if this has put extra pressure on
- 11:53Speaker 1: the couple's relationship and the amount of time that they've
- 11:55Speaker 1: got to spend with one another. I mean, we recently
- 11:58Speaker 1: saw G Flip perform alongside Kylie Minogue at the AFL
- 12:02Speaker 1: Grand Final. They've been incredibly busy. I saw a lot
- 12:04Speaker 1: of people were commenting that there was like this sexual
- 12:07Speaker 1: tension between Kylie Minogue and G Flip. I was like, no,
- 12:10Speaker 1: there wasn't. I mean, Kylie gave G Flip a kiss
- 12:13Speaker 1: on the cheek. I think that that was all just
- 12:15Speaker 1: purposely done for the performance. I don't think that there
- 12:18Speaker 1: was some genuine connection there between Kylie Minogue and G Flip.
- 12:22Speaker 1: One thing that surprised me that's popped up is the
- 12:25Speaker 1: age difference between Chrishell and G Flip. I didn't know
- 12:27Speaker 1: that there was 11 years between them. So Chrishell is 45.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And G Flip is 33. Did that surprise you? I
- 12:35Speaker 1: knew there was an age gap, but I think because
- 12:37Speaker 1: Chris Shell just looks incredible. You're just like, oh, whatever.
- 12:40Speaker 1: She's ageless, isn't she?
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 1: It always felt to me that G Flip was chasing
- 12:45Speaker 1: Chris Shell. So I think that that's what has surprised
- 12:48Speaker 1: me the most, that it seems like G Flip is
- 12:50Speaker 1: the one to have ended this relationship. Another thing that
- 12:54Speaker 1: has surprised a lot of people is the fact that
- 12:56Speaker 1: Chris Shell and G-Philip weren't actually legally married. And this
- 12:59Speaker 1: is despite them holding multiple wedding events. So just a
- 13:03Speaker 1: bit of backstory, they met in 2021 at a Halloween
- 13:07Speaker 1: party and they ended up getting married shortly after. So
- 13:10Speaker 1: they married in Vegas in May, 2022. 10 days after
- 13:14Speaker 1: the wedding though, TMZ reported that no marriage license was
- 13:17Speaker 1: filed or recorded. Now, at the time, Entertainment Tonight also
- 13:21Speaker 1: backed up the claims after doing their own investigation. People assumed, though,
- 13:25Speaker 1: that they had made things official because they ended up
- 13:27Speaker 1: holding annual vow renewals. They had a ceremony in Australia
- 13:31Speaker 1: on Chris Shell's 43rd birthday. They also had this medieval-themed
- 13:34Speaker 1: ceremony the following year in Los Angeles. So people are like, well,
- 13:38Speaker 1: the fact that they're doing vow renewals, they must have
- 13:40Speaker 1: gone and made things legal. But they haven't. Yeah, since
- 13:43Speaker 1: the breakup, TMZ have investigated further, and it turns out
- 13:46Speaker 1: that they never formalized their marriage. When you mentioned how
- 13:49Speaker 1: many times they'd renewed their vows, to me I was like, God,
- 13:53Speaker 1: maybe the signs were actually there because it's always the
- 13:55Speaker 1: people protesting that they love each other the most and
- 13:57Speaker 1: that they're sort of sickeningly in love that are the
- 14:01Speaker 1: ones that are hiding something. They're almost having to do
- 14:03Speaker 1: it because there's tension going on behind the scenes. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: just don't get it because they've obviously put a lot
- 14:08Speaker 1: of effort into having these vow renewals. But then they
- 14:11Speaker 1: never actually formalized the legal side of things. Was it
- 14:14Speaker 1: just that they couldn't be bothered? Like, you know, I mean,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I feel like you guys would relate to it. If
- 14:19Speaker 1: you want to change your name, but you don't do
- 14:20Speaker 1: it straight after the wedding, I feel like it's never
- 14:22Speaker 1: going to happen. You guys are examples of that. You've
- 14:24Speaker 1: never changed your last name despite saying you wanted to. Look,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I changed it on Facebook. I mean, these days, I
- 14:28Speaker 1: think that's as good as legally changing in it. One
- 14:31Speaker 1: comment that was left under Chris Shell's breakup post really
- 14:33Speaker 1: stood out to me. It was from her ex and
- 14:36Speaker 1: former co-star, Jason Oppenheim.
- 14:39Speaker 2: So.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Chrishell and Jason were together before Chrishell started dating G
- 14:44Speaker 1: Flip and they actually broke up because they wanted different
- 14:46Speaker 1: things in regards to having children. Anyway, he ended up
- 14:49Speaker 1: writing this quite gushy comment under Chrishell's announcement. So he wrote,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm thinking of you
- 14:55Speaker 1: and sending you my love. You're both beautiful people and
- 14:58Speaker 1: sometimes things just don't work out, but it certainly doesn't
- 15:00Speaker 1: mean anyone failed. There's probably nothing anyone can say to
- 15:04Speaker 1: make you feel better right now. It might just take
- 15:06Speaker 1: some time to process, but please know that you're very
- 15:08Speaker 1: loved and I'm always there for you no matter what.
- 15:11Speaker 1: It just made me think of that Seinfeld episode where
- 15:13Speaker 1: Jerry and Elaine are the shoulders to cry on for
- 15:16Speaker 1: this couple that split because they really want to get
- 15:18Speaker 1: with them. I'm there for you and then you're just there. Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: so I think that's what's happening here. I think Jason
- 15:24Speaker 1: is desperate to get back with Chrishell. I mean, it's
- 15:26Speaker 1: a good storyline for Selling Sunsets. How pissed would you
- 15:28Speaker 1: be if you were G Flip? You're like, oh my God,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I've been gone for like five seconds and this guy
- 15:32Speaker 1: is already trying it on with her.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Yeah, but.
- 15:35Speaker 1: It sounds like G Flip's the one who pulled the pin.
- 15:38Speaker 1: We don't know what happened. I noticed that Steph Gless-Smith
- 15:40Speaker 1: left a comment on Chris Shell's page as well, sending
- 15:42Speaker 1: her love. I'm like, hang on, aren't you Team G Flip?
- 15:45Speaker 1: You've been made infamous from her song.
- 15:47Speaker 4: He is trying to get out of jail where he's
- 15:51Speaker 4: currently being held on remand and he also doesn't want
- 15:54Speaker 4: anyone to talk about him.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Today, Sam Wood has taken his plea for bail to
- 15:59Speaker 1: the Supreme Court of Queensland. The former Bachelor star has
- 16:02Speaker 1: spent the last 27 days behind bars after being charged
- 16:06Speaker 1: with assaulting and strangling his wife, Naziana Wood. Now, this
- 16:10Speaker 1: is his second bid for bail, and it's expected that
- 16:12Speaker 1: he will appear at the hearing via a video link. Now,
- 16:16Speaker 1: his lawyers have been incredibly busy. Last Friday, they saw
- 16:20Speaker 1: a non-publication order in the Supreme Court, and that was
- 16:23Speaker 1: in a bid to block the media from accessing court
- 16:26Speaker 1: documents relating to his bail application. This included affidavits from
- 16:30Speaker 1: Sam's supporters and These documents are usually readily available for journalists.
- 16:36Speaker 1: That's very interesting, particularly the fact that these are affidavits
- 16:39Speaker 1: from people that have been coined his supporters. Obviously... They
- 16:43Speaker 1: don't want to publicly support him, do they? Or maybe
- 16:45Speaker 1: they've only agreed to provide an affidavit on the basis
- 16:49Speaker 1: that it will be kept away from the press. No
- 16:51Speaker 1: one wants to put their names to this. It's reputational damage. Well,
- 16:55Speaker 1: Sam's barristers said that Sam was concerned about his supporters' privacy.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So on these affidavits, it reveals their full names and
- 17:02Speaker 1: also addresses. So they were saying that he's concerned that
- 17:06Speaker 1: the media will rock up at these people's houses. Now,
- 17:09Speaker 1: the judge ended up only temporarily suppressing the names, addresses
- 17:13Speaker 1: and any other identifying details of the people named, not
- 17:16Speaker 1: the complete documents. The judge also chose to suppress where
- 17:20Speaker 1: Sam will live if he is granted bail. Look, it
- 17:23Speaker 1: makes sense to me suppressing those kind of details for
- 17:26Speaker 1: Sam's own safety if he is given bail. But what
- 17:29Speaker 1: has made my blood boil is the fact that during
- 17:31Speaker 1: today's bail hearing, Sam, lawyers are also seeking a further
- 17:35Speaker 1: suppression order, which would prevent the media from reporting on
- 17:38Speaker 1: the matter entirely. So this essentially is a gag order.
- 17:42Speaker 1: News outlets are fighting the suppression with many hiring legal
- 17:45Speaker 1: representatives to oppose the order. But this is absolutely insane.
- 17:51Speaker 1: It's infuriating because we have seen this play out time
- 17:54Speaker 1: and time again with high profile people with money. They
- 17:56Speaker 1: are able to call the shots in these court situations
- 17:59Speaker 1: purely because they are able to build legal teams who
- 18:02Speaker 1: can throw everything at securing them bail and avoiding them
- 18:06Speaker 1: jail time. There is a huge disparity of power here
- 18:09Speaker 1: purely because Sam has so much money. I couldn't agree more.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And I saw a video that Tarang Chawla did that
- 18:15Speaker 1: summarized this so well. So for those not familiar with him,
- 18:18Speaker 1: he is a writer and activist against men's violence. And
- 18:22Speaker 1: he entered the space after his sister Nikita was murdered
- 18:25Speaker 1: by her partner, Let's take a listen to what he
- 18:27Speaker 1: said about Sam Wood.
- 18:29Speaker 4: And this is a prime example of how men in
- 18:31Speaker 4: powerful positions will use the legal system. to continue to
- 18:35Speaker 4: terrorise women and girls and family members. They will try
- 18:39Speaker 4: to flex their wallet, their legal muscle, in order to
- 18:43Speaker 4: get whatever they can, in order to not face the
- 18:46Speaker 4: consequences of their own actions. And Sam Wood is a
- 18:49Speaker 4: prime example, in my view, of a person who is
- 18:51Speaker 4: doing exactly that. He is trying to do everything possible
- 18:55Speaker 4: and it is his legal right to do that. I've
- 18:56Speaker 4: said that in previous videos. But at the end of
- 18:58Speaker 4: the day, Sam Wood, man of little or no importance
- 19:02Speaker 4: or relevance ever, You are alleged to have strangled your wife. Now,
- 19:07Speaker 4: if those allegations are proven to be true, then that's very,
- 19:12Speaker 4: very serious, right? Even what we know so far and
- 19:14Speaker 4: what has been reported is very, very serious. And bro,
- 19:17Speaker 4: you've got to stop, man. Like, you've got to stop. Like,
- 19:20Speaker 4: you've got so much money that you won't go broke
- 19:22Speaker 4: doing this, right? I would love to be in a
- 19:24Speaker 4: position where I could say, keep spending the money because
- 19:26Speaker 4: you'll run out of it. But you are somehow going
- 19:30Speaker 4: to find a way to land on your two feet, right?
- 19:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Not that you'll probably ever watch this video. Not that
- 19:34Speaker 4: you probably ever understand half of what I'm talking about.
- 19:36Speaker 4: But the point of the matter is at the end
- 19:38Speaker 4: of the day, men in powerful positions continue to use
- 19:42Speaker 4: the legal system to terrorize women and girls. And in
- 19:45Speaker 4: my view, that is exactly what Sam Wood is doing.
- 19:47Speaker 4: And I think it is disgusting.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I love everything. that Tarang puts out he is so
- 19:51Speaker 1: articulate and intelligent I love the fact that he started
- 19:55Speaker 1: off by calling him a shit stain as well yeah
- 19:57Speaker 1: he has definitely not held back in his commentary around
- 20:00Speaker 1: Sam Wood Now, Sophie, I want to talk to you
- 20:03Speaker 1: about SNES because this week, the Herald Sun reported that
- 20:06Speaker 1: she actually reached out to friends last year for help
- 20:09Speaker 1: to leave her marriage. A close friend who remained anonymous
- 20:13Speaker 1: told the publication, everyone has known what has gone on.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It was an open secret in Brighton, but people were
- 20:18Speaker 1: too scared to get involved. SNES wanted to find a
- 20:21Speaker 1: way out. Another close friend alleged that SNES did not
- 20:25Speaker 1: have access to the couple's finances or bank accounts. She
- 20:29Speaker 1: has recently also been spotted publicly in Melbourne not wearing
- 20:33Speaker 1: her wedding rings. Now, one of Sam's ex-partners has also
- 20:36Speaker 1: come forward labeling his behavior during their relationship as erratic
- 20:40Speaker 1: and controlling. So she actually dated Sam before he was
- 20:43Speaker 1: on The Bachelor in 2015. And she alleges that after
- 20:47Speaker 1: one argument, he threw all her clothes on the front
- 20:50Speaker 1: lawn of her house. A friend of Sam's ex was
- 20:53Speaker 1: also quoted as saying, if things didn't go his way,
- 20:56Speaker 1: he became increasingly erratic and he was always tight with money,
- 21:00Speaker 1: looking for ways to save a buck. He even tried
- 21:02Speaker 1: to get Snezz's engagement ring for free. Was that through
- 21:06Speaker 1: The Bachelor? I thought The Bachelor always gave out engagement rings. No,
- 21:09Speaker 1: from memory, it was a promise ring that looked a
- 21:11Speaker 1: bit like a chisel. There was a lot of backlash
- 21:13Speaker 1: at the time that it was a very ugly ring.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It wasn't great. PR for the brand. Oh, that was
- 21:18Speaker 1: from Zammles or something, wasn't it? I think so. I
- 21:20Speaker 1: think Sam designed it. Now, on Wednesday, in a further
- 21:23Speaker 1: blow for Sam, DGB, who cut ties with Sam following
- 21:26Speaker 1: the charges, will now operate under the new name, Ever.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I mean, it was only a matter of time before
- 21:33Speaker 1: that had to happen. Yeah, it wasn't if, but when.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: The brand social media account has also wiped any posts
- 21:39Speaker 1: featuring Sam and they released a promotional reel unveiling the
- 21:42Speaker 1: program's new chapter. I would love to know how many
- 21:46Speaker 1: subscribers they've lost. I think it would be less than
- 21:49Speaker 1: you think because Sam hasn't actually lost that many followers
- 21:53Speaker 1: on Instagram. I think the way the algorithm works, a
- 21:56Speaker 1: lot of people probably have forgotten that they followed Sam
- 21:58Speaker 1: Wood 10 years ago when he was on The Bachelor.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So they probably haven't seen anything pop up for a while. Now,
- 22:03Speaker 1: in terms of this new rebrand, If you are someone
- 22:06Speaker 1: who has followed this program from day dot and you've
- 22:09Speaker 1: seen results from it, you're probably going to stick around
- 22:11Speaker 1: and continue to do it because the name's been removed now.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You probably love the other trainers on the app. That
- 22:17Speaker 1: being said, I don't think anyone is joining up to
- 22:20Speaker 1: it now, maybe in the future. Yeah, I don't think
- 22:22Speaker 1: there'd be an influx of new members, but I don't
- 22:25Speaker 1: think that the membership base would have been that dramatically reduced.
- 22:29Speaker 1: The view is insane. Home sweet home. Gossip Instagram account
- 22:37Speaker 1: Bravo Cocktails is reporting that Saffron Barker and reality TV
- 22:41Speaker 1: star Kyle Cook are a hot new item out on
- 22:44Speaker 1: the New York dating scene. The revelation comes just three
- 22:47Speaker 1: months after the British YouTuber split from Amy's Roman Empire
- 22:51Speaker 1: Scottish model Josh Milne. Amy, you've been copying a lot
- 22:54Speaker 1: of shit after Monday's episode. I actually wasn't aware that
- 22:57Speaker 1: I'd been copying shit, so that's news to me. Yeah, well,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I did a bit of a call out at the
- 23:02Speaker 1: time saying I'm sure OG listener Rodney will have a
- 23:04Speaker 1: bit to say about it. And he provided the goods.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He shared a meme that he created. So it was
- 23:10Speaker 1: of Josh, of course, six pack out. And he wrote
- 23:12Speaker 1: something along the lines of, Amy's husband, what are you doing? Amy, research.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Love that from you, Rodney. Thank you, Rodney, for sticking
- 23:20Speaker 1: up for me. Clearly, I have been doing a lot
- 23:22Speaker 1: of research for this show. I don't know if he
- 23:25Speaker 1: was sticking up for you. Well, I'm being sarcastic, obviously, Sophie.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I don't think this new guy has anything on Josh, really.
- 23:34Speaker 2: No.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And should we be feeling sorry for Josh now? Because
- 23:36Speaker 1: it seems like if that's the case and Saffron's moved on,
- 23:39Speaker 1: maybe she was the one that blindsided Josh. I don't know.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I don't think so, Amy. I think that Saffron is
- 23:45Speaker 1: moving on because she's been hurt by this fuckboy. I mean,
- 23:48Speaker 1: that is what I would define Josh Milne as. Now,
- 23:50Speaker 1: the rumour is that Saffron and Kyle met at an
- 23:53Speaker 1: event and have been dating for a couple of weeks now.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Saffron has been flying in and out of New York.
- 23:59Speaker 1: That is where Kyle is based. And the publication printed
- 24:02Speaker 1: a photo of the pair together. Now, Kyle Cook is
- 24:06Speaker 1: an American reality star, entrepreneur and DJ. Why already do
- 24:11Speaker 1: those three descriptions sound like walking red flags to me?
- 24:15Speaker 1: They do, don't they? She has a type. I'm guessing
- 24:18Speaker 1: that they met through her acting school when she was
- 24:20Speaker 1: in New York because that's where he lives and he's
- 24:22Speaker 1: best known for appearing on Bravo's reality show, Summer House.
- 24:26Speaker 1: So he's been on the show since it started in
- 24:29Speaker 1: 2017 and still appears in the series. He's also the
- 24:32Speaker 1: founder of a popular canned cocktail brand called Loverboy, which again,
- 24:36Speaker 1: another big red flag. There is also quite a big
- 24:39Speaker 1: age gap between Saffron and Kyle. So Saffron is only
- 24:42Speaker 1: 26 while Kyle is 44. So an 18 year age
- 24:47Speaker 1: difference there. Wendy will not be happy about that. That
- 24:49Speaker 1: is literally the first thing I thought about because both
- 24:52Speaker 1: of their parents appear a lot in her YouTube channel.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And they are only in their early 50s. You never know.
- 24:57Speaker 1: They might think that Saffron needs someone a bit more
- 24:59Speaker 1: mature after dealing with this fuck boy. No, but the
- 25:03Speaker 1: worst thing is this guy sounds like an even bigger
- 25:06Speaker 1: fuck boy. He's a fuck man. Yeah, a fuck man.
- 25:09Speaker 1: That's even worse. He only just separated from his wife
- 25:12Speaker 1: in January this year. So he was married to fellow
- 25:14Speaker 1: reality star Amanda Batula, who also appeared on Summer House.
- 25:18Speaker 1: In fact, their relationship was a huge storyline on the show.
- 25:22Speaker 1: In 2018, he proposed to her. In 2021, they got married.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And by January 2026, as I said, they announced that
- 25:28Speaker 1: they were separating. Are there any kids involved? No, thankfully.
- 25:32Speaker 1: A huge storyline on the show, though, was Kyle admitting
- 25:35Speaker 1: to cheating on Amanda early on in their relationship. What
- 25:39Speaker 1: makes things even messier is that Amanda actually left Kyle
- 25:42Speaker 1: for another cast member on the show.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Oh.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Oh, so surely Saffron is just doing this for her career.
- 25:47Speaker 1: She wants to get on Summer House. That would be
- 25:49Speaker 1: massive for her. Yeah, hopefully this is just a rebound.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I would love to see her appearing on this reality show. Now,
- 25:55Speaker 1: it's clear that she wants people to know about Kyle
- 25:57Speaker 1: because he even appeared on the thumbnail of her recent
- 25:59Speaker 1: YouTube video. In the video, she explained that she was
- 26:02Speaker 1: invited to a private event with a DJ called Alesso.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Is that a big name? I'm sure it is. People
- 26:08Speaker 1: are probably going to send in saying, how do you
- 26:09Speaker 1: not know about him? So he hosted this private event
- 26:13Speaker 1: at the Empire State Building and before the event she
- 26:16Speaker 1: attended a group dinner where Kyle sat next to her
- 26:19Speaker 1: and in it they had this really annoying debate over
- 26:23Speaker 1: how to pronounce shish kebab. I feel like you butchered
- 26:26Speaker 1: it there. It's shish kebab, isn't it? Sorry, he said
- 26:28Speaker 1: shish kebab. But she was like, I've never heard of
- 26:30Speaker 1: the term shish kebab before. Well, she couldn't pronounce Slovakia,
- 26:33Speaker 1: wasn't it? What was it that she couldn't pronounce? No,
- 26:35Speaker 1: she couldn't pronounce. What did you just say? Slovakia. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you pronounced that wrong too.
- 26:40Speaker 2: No, you, Ross.
- 26:41Speaker 1: She couldn't pronounce year or she called it a gyro.
- 26:43Speaker 1: So there's a lot for them to debate, but he
- 26:45Speaker 1: just sounded so annoying. Surely this is just a PR relationship.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I don't see it going anywhere. Well, he also attended
- 26:51Speaker 1: the DJ event with her and her three friends, and
- 26:53Speaker 1: he just came across as completely immature. I mean, you
- 26:55Speaker 1: reflect on the fact that this guy's 44 and he's
- 26:57Speaker 1: out drinking with these 20 year olds. He was doing
- 26:59Speaker 1: a Bunch of drinking games with them as well. I mean,
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's not a good look and I'm pretty disappointed. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: was hoping that Saffron might find someone nice after this
- 27:07Speaker 1: whole situation. Like that nice normal boyfriend she had like
- 27:09Speaker 1: two boyfriends ago. What was his name? He was like a– Oh,
- 27:12Speaker 1: he was a twin, wasn't he? Yeah, he was lovely.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I recently unfollowed him. What was his name?
- 27:16Speaker 2: Anyway. Tyler.
- 27:17Speaker 4: I mean, daughter.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It was Tyler. These are all rumours though. It just
- 27:20Speaker 1: all could be some PR spin, I'm hoping. But it's
- 27:23Speaker 1: bad PR spin, if anything. I think so many people
- 27:26Speaker 1: were feeling so sorry for Saffron. after all those videos
- 27:29Speaker 1: that Josh was posting. I think she's trying to get
- 27:31Speaker 1: at him because Josh was making it very clear that
- 27:34Speaker 1: he had moved on with this absolute goddess in Dubai.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So this is just her way of getting at him.
- 27:39Speaker 1: This guy's probably using her for a bit of publicity
- 27:41Speaker 1: as well. Well, that is where we're going to leave
- 27:43Speaker 1: things today. But if you want to hear more from us,
- 27:45Speaker 1: we drop a bonus episode of Outspoken Plus every Thursday
- 27:48Speaker 1: for Outspoken Plus subscribers. All the details to sign up
