- 2:35Speaker 2: Gi you director of communications for the Clay Center. How
- 2:37Speaker 2: you doing.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I'm doing wonderful this morning.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Thank you for joining this morning. We had a little
- 2:42Speaker 2: we had to schedule on Friday, little family situation you
- 2:45Speaker 2: had to take care of. Hope all is well there, Oh,
- 2:47Speaker 2: all is great.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Everyone knows well, the who has little ones, all the
- 2:51Speaker 5: bugs that are going around right now.
- 2:52Speaker 4: So you know we're fighting through.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be the little ones
- 2:56Speaker 2: because this place the last couple of weeks has been
- 2:58Speaker 2: like a mass unit here. You know, Luckily I have
- 3:01Speaker 2: been okay because it's all the clean living I do,
- 3:03Speaker 2: so any of what's going on to the Clay Center.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So what do you gotta tell us.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Is more so many things are going on at the
- 3:09Speaker 5: Clay Center. It is just a mad house in the
- 3:11Speaker 5: best way possible. Anyone who was at the Clay Center
- 3:14Speaker 5: this last weekend who got to experience the joy of
- 3:17Speaker 5: Disney's Frozen, the musical that the Charleston Light Opera gil
- 3:21Speaker 5: put On, really got to take in the joy. And
- 3:24Speaker 5: we joke that I took the marketing too far with
- 3:27Speaker 5: all this wonderfully cold and snowy weather we.
- 3:30Speaker 6: Have and did.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, did you have to go
- 3:31Speaker 2: that far? I mean, they don't really need to experience
- 3:34Speaker 2: it on the way there.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Well, I mean I really just like to set the
- 3:38Speaker 5: scene fair enough, fair but no, we got some warm
- 3:40Speaker 5: and wild they're coming and we've got another weekend going
- 3:43Speaker 5: into Valentine's Day weekend a Frozen, So if you haven't
- 3:45Speaker 5: seen that yet, absolutely come on down We've got quite
- 3:49Speaker 5: a few shows coming up over the next couple of months.
- 3:53Speaker 5: We have obviously a wonderful production of The Harmonies of Hope,
- 3:56Speaker 5: which is done by Recovery Point West Virginia. They've got
- 3:58Speaker 5: Tommy Prime, Philip Bowen, John Ingram that's here at the
- 4:02Speaker 5: end of this month.
- 4:03Speaker 4: That's going to be It's always wonderful.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Every year, without a doubt, going to be another fantastic production.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I do have a little something to tease. Okay, I can't.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Say exactly what it is, but I'll say if you
- 4:15Speaker 5: are a fan of the band Chicago, maybe keep your
- 4:20Speaker 5: eyes and ears open on Monday, February twenty third. There
- 4:23Speaker 5: may be a special announcement. Maybe maybe, I don't know.
- 4:28Speaker 2: If you're a fan of Chicago.
- 4:29Speaker 4: If you're a fan of the band Chicago, yeah, well.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Here's a little Chicago trivia. Because I got a head
- 4:33Speaker 2: full of nothing.
- 4:33Speaker 7: You know.
- 4:34Speaker 2: The original name of the band was Chicago Transit Authority.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I didn't know, and they got sued by the Chicago
- 4:38Speaker 2: Transit Authority and had to shorten their name. That's you
- 4:41Speaker 2: can you can you can use that. Feel free to again.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I got a head full of nothing, Okay, So but yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I think it's an excited announcement and we'll be looking
- 4:52Speaker 2: forward to that on the twenty third, twenty third, Is
- 4:54Speaker 2: that what you said? Okay? Follow I guess you're what
- 4:56Speaker 2: social media? Website media?
- 4:58Speaker 5: You can join our email list on our webs site,
- 5:00Speaker 5: the Claycenter dot org, or do you know, just maybe
- 5:04Speaker 5: hop in here and you here's something.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough? Fair enough? All right? What day? The
- 5:09Speaker 2: twenty third is on a Monday?
- 5:10Speaker 8: Right?
- 5:10Speaker 2: All right? So so you wanna come back and tell
- 5:12Speaker 2: us that? Can you do that?
- 5:13Speaker 8: All right?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, you're booked on the twenty on the on the
- 5:17Speaker 2: twenty third, uh the day violand show on five any
- 5:19Speaker 2: line brought to you aparted by Pinnacle Consultants. Help me

- 5:31Speaker 2: Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because what
- 5:34Speaker 2: you don't know can hurt you. How's the Clay Center
- 5:37Speaker 2: done overall with this winder that we've had. I was
- 5:40Speaker 2: talking to one of my coworkers earlier and I said,
- 5:43Speaker 2: it seems like this winter has gone on forever. However,
- 5:47Speaker 2: the meteorologist Brian Hughes will tell me that January was
- 5:51Speaker 2: actually underperforming as far as snow goes. It's just what
- 5:55Speaker 2: we had just stuck around forever. We're only two weeks.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It was only it seems like it was forever ago
- 5:59Speaker 2: when we had the ice storm follow us it. Actually
- 6:03Speaker 2: it was only like a little over two weeks ago,
- 6:04Speaker 2: it seems like. But how is the Clay Center done
- 6:07Speaker 2: getting through all this?
- 6:08Speaker 5: Well, we have a really dedicated team. We have a
- 6:12Speaker 5: handful of our building management professionals who are out there
- 6:15Speaker 5: every days salting the sidewalks, shoveling, making sure that people
- 6:19Speaker 5: can get into.
- 6:20Speaker 4: The building as easily as possible.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I mean, we do everything in our power to make
- 6:24Speaker 5: sure we don't close the doors because we went to
- 6:25Speaker 5: Clay Center to always be an option for those especially
- 6:28Speaker 5: when you know you have a week of snow days
- 6:30Speaker 5: and the kids are itching to get out of the house.
- 6:35Speaker 5: You know, we went to the Clay Center to always
- 6:36Speaker 5: be an option for people to come inside, have something
- 6:39Speaker 5: fun to do with the kids, or you know, maybe
- 6:41Speaker 5: the parents just need or adults needed a reprieve from.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Being the ouse.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I saw one of the parents on social media posted
- 6:48Speaker 2: this thing when they were going back and forth between
- 6:50Speaker 2: remote learning whatever, And this is one of the days
- 6:52Speaker 2: when they were going to do the remote learning thing
- 6:54Speaker 2: in Kanawak County and somebody post and said, I'm sending
- 6:56Speaker 2: mind to school No matter what I mean, They're going
- 6:59Speaker 2: to go out to Just wait. Eventually somebody will opened
- 7:00Speaker 2: the door. Now that's how CPS gets involved, wet. We
- 7:03Speaker 2: don't want that to happen. But it's interesting that you
- 7:06Speaker 2: bring that up because I have talked to parents who
- 7:09Speaker 2: said that, while you know, schools may have been closed
- 7:12Speaker 2: or whatever, if the clay center was open and they
- 7:14Speaker 2: could safely get there, they brought their kids to a
- 7:15Speaker 2: clay center.
- 7:16Speaker 9: Oh.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Absolutely, And you know it's always a safety first. You know,
- 7:20Speaker 5: if you can't get out of your house, we don't
- 7:22Speaker 5: want you risking your life to come. We want to
- 7:23Speaker 5: see you, absolutely, but we never want you to risk
- 7:26Speaker 5: your safety and the safety of your family to come
- 7:28Speaker 5: down and see us. So if you're not able to
- 7:30Speaker 5: make it down today or the next day, you know
- 7:32Speaker 5: we will be here always.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So what goes on on a regular basis at the
- 7:36Speaker 2: Clay Center, Okay, because we always talk about the special
- 7:38Speaker 2: shows and special events and so on and so forth.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But just on an average Wednesday in April, I'll just
- 7:44Speaker 2: throw it out there. When you don't have something quota,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I mean, you always have something going on, but just
- 7:48Speaker 2: on an average day, what can people see when they
- 7:50Speaker 2: come to Clay Center.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Well, I mean there's always the joy of our traveling exhibits,
- 7:53Speaker 5: which another little teaser. We may or may not be
- 7:57Speaker 5: working on a little construction project to bring even more
- 8:00Speaker 5: traveling exhibit space, which means bigger exhibits, the ones that
- 8:04Speaker 5: you know that go to COSI and things like that,
- 8:07Speaker 5: you know, the big, the big ones. So that's something
- 8:11Speaker 5: that we may or may not be working on right now.
- 8:13Speaker 5: But we always have a traveling exhibit in our main
- 8:15Speaker 5: art gallery, a traveling exhibit down our main floor. We
- 8:19Speaker 5: have day to day programming. It varies day to day,
- 8:21Speaker 5: so always check our website. But we do programs like
- 8:24Speaker 5: Science Unleashed, which is little drop in workshops where you
- 8:28Speaker 5: get to make Arctic slime or Arctic slime arctics.
- 8:33Speaker 2: If nothing else, that should be the name of a band.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I feel, oh, I like that Arctic slime. That's a
- 8:38Speaker 2: good one trademark that Ryan.
- 8:40Speaker 5: I'm feeling like a funky vibe to it. Yeah, okay,
- 8:42Speaker 5: I think there's something cool there. We have our book
- 8:45Speaker 5: Bud story Time, which is, you know, our education team
- 8:48Speaker 5: sits down reads a book with our youngsters and it
- 8:51Speaker 5: does an arts and craft project afterwards. We have Storytime
- 8:54Speaker 5: Theater where our team puts on a little production in
- 8:58Speaker 5: the Mytown Theater downstairs and the kids get to play
- 9:02Speaker 5: along with the sound effects and the lights and so
- 9:05Speaker 5: it's a really fun set of programs that you know,
- 9:10Speaker 5: our education team works really hard on to make every
- 9:12Speaker 5: day something fun, something interesting that you'll be able to experience.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And that's what we want people to take away from this. Again,
- 9:18Speaker 2: we're talking with Taylor gu who is the director of
- 9:20Speaker 2: communication for the Clay Center. There's always something going on there.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I know you just came off Carnival Carnival a couple
- 9:25Speaker 2: of weeks ago and that was a huge, huge fund
- 9:27Speaker 2: raising event there.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Oh it was.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Anyone who came was said it's the best carnival that
- 9:33Speaker 5: they've ever been to, and those who didn't come who
- 9:36Speaker 5: saw photos and videos online said, I can't believe I
- 9:39Speaker 5: missed it this year. It was one of the best.
- 9:41Speaker 5: I mean, we had food catered by ten ten. We
- 9:44Speaker 5: had some amazing artists that were performing. I mean, if
- 9:47Speaker 5: anyone that was on the main stage. I've never seen
- 9:50Speaker 5: quite so many people at carnival standing up and down, dancing,
- 9:54Speaker 5: singing along, banging their heads, I mean, of a variety
- 9:57Speaker 5: of ages. I mean it was it was truly fun evening.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Where's the best place for people to follow along? I
- 10:03Speaker 2: know you're all over social media, but you want to
- 10:05Speaker 2: hit up a website we want to talk about you know,
- 10:07Speaker 2: get a couple of minutes leftter we want to talk
- 10:08Speaker 2: about the Friends of Clay I mean, that's a big
- 10:11Speaker 2: thing that you can do to support the arts. Just
- 10:12Speaker 2: talk about a little bit.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Absolutely always.
- 10:14Speaker 5: You can go to our Facebook that's primary source of
- 10:17Speaker 5: information for us. Also our website, the Claycenter dot org.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Everything and anything is posted on there. But if you're
- 10:23Speaker 5: wanting to take that next step and get further engaged,
- 10:25Speaker 5: I highly recommend you check out Friends of Clay Center.
- 10:28Speaker 4: We have a Facebook page. You can learn more about
- 10:30Speaker 4: it on our website.
- 10:31Speaker 5: It is a group of people who want to take
- 10:34Speaker 5: a step further, who want to be more involved. They
- 10:37Speaker 5: are the ones who helped organize and put together Carnival.
- 10:40Speaker 5: We're working next on an event in April called Jazz
- 10:44Speaker 5: and Jambalaya.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It'll be April.
- 10:46Speaker 2: You had me right there, you had me with Jambalaya.
- 10:49Speaker 4: It's going to be out in our Sculpture Garden.
- 10:51Speaker 5: We have an all female jazz group coming that's going
- 10:55Speaker 5: to be doing this amazing show. It's on a Saturday
- 10:58Speaker 5: night from seven to ten o'clock. I believe limited tickets
- 11:02Speaker 5: for that one. So that's something you're interested in, and
- 11:04Speaker 5: it's not why the same price point as Carnivals. If
- 11:07Speaker 5: maybe Carnival was a little bit out of your reach,
- 11:10Speaker 5: this one is going to be a good step down
- 11:12Speaker 5: from that. So it's truly a wonderful experience. In our
- 11:16Speaker 5: Friends of Clay members, they go above and beyond to
- 11:19Speaker 5: make sure that people have access to the Clay Center
- 11:22Speaker 5: and that they enjoy their timeline.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Taylor, it's always a pleasure to have you on the show.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So you're making a return appearance, I understand now on
- 11:27Speaker 2: February the twenty third, right.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Like I just kind of forced your yeah, yeah, just
- 11:31Speaker 5: the way I'm.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Going to be coming back February twenty third, Dave, you
- 11:34Speaker 2: don't necessarily be here. I'll just take over the show,
- 11:36Speaker 2: so February twenty third, you'll have a big announced before
- 11:38Speaker 2: and you're gonna do it on this show, right, Absolutely,
- 11:40Speaker 2: all right, Taylor. Ge you the director of communications for

- 14:38Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. You uh making them through
- 14:40Speaker 2: the winter.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Okay, I'm trying to early this winter. I said, I
- 14:43Speaker 6: don't want it to be fifty degrees in raining the
- 14:44Speaker 6: whole winter, and I regret that now.
- 14:47Speaker 2: That's what I was just talking to Taylor about. It
- 14:49Speaker 2: seems like we've complained and complained about this winter being
- 14:52Speaker 2: so harsh. But if you will remember, we had that
- 14:54Speaker 2: snow in December and then it was kind of quiet
- 14:57Speaker 2: for a while, it was just cold, and then we
- 14:59Speaker 2: had it was it seems like it was like six
- 15:01Speaker 2: months ago, but it was only two weeks ago that
- 15:02Speaker 2: we had the snow and the ice. And it's just
- 15:05Speaker 2: because it's been so cold. It just won't go anywhere.
- 15:07Speaker 6: It's very pretty. I'll give it that. I like looking
- 15:10Speaker 6: at it. But I was driving to Ohio to Ohio
- 15:12Speaker 6: University to where my daughter goes to school.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I just couldn't get into Marshall.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Hunh, that's right.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I'm kidding, and I'm kidding, but.
- 15:19Speaker 6: I was driving all the way there in that snowstorm
- 15:22Speaker 6: about ten thirty in the morning on I guess it
- 15:24Speaker 6: was Friday, Friday, Yeah, yeah, and it was pretty it
- 15:26Speaker 6: was pretty hairy.
- 15:27Speaker 2: It actually got better as the day went on when
- 15:29Speaker 2: I left here and I got off the midday show
- 15:31Speaker 2: at three, and when I left here we had it
- 15:34Speaker 2: was like I mean, on the main roads. There was
- 15:35Speaker 2: no issue. It was a lot better than what it
- 15:37Speaker 2: would have been at you know, at twelve o'clock, like
- 15:39Speaker 2: like you experienced.
- 15:40Speaker 6: Yeah, that wasn't that was a mistake.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Done better there, Yeah, because thirty five it's in pretty
- 15:44Speaker 2: bad shape really.
- 15:45Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 2: All right, all right, So this Saturday is Valentine's Day
- 15:50Speaker 2: and you're going to be doing your King of Heart's weddings,
- 15:53Speaker 2: but you'll do it on Friday, of course. So tell
- 15:56Speaker 2: us about this for people that aren't familiar with it.
- 15:58Speaker 6: Well, every year around thing around Valentine's Day, which we
- 16:01Speaker 6: try to do it on the fourteenth, it just happens
- 16:03Speaker 6: beyond a Saturday, and the courthouse is not open, so
- 16:06Speaker 6: that would require a whole lot of extra spending we
- 16:08Speaker 6: don't need to do. We are going to have it
- 16:09Speaker 6: on Friday. With a little bit of a twist. It's Friday,
- 16:12Speaker 6: the thirteenth, so we'll make it a lucky day instead
- 16:15Speaker 6: of an unlucky day.
- 16:16Speaker 2: All right, So that'll the people that decide to get
- 16:18Speaker 2: all married up, that'll be their thing. And we get
- 16:20Speaker 2: married on Friday the thirteenth.
- 16:22Speaker 6: That's right.
- 16:22Speaker 2: It was good luck or is the worst thing we
- 16:24Speaker 2: ever did, that's right.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Hopefully it's good luck for everybody. We've already gotten a
- 16:28Speaker 6: ton of calls, and all it is is, if you
- 16:31Speaker 6: decide you want to get married on February thirteenth, you
- 16:34Speaker 6: just come on down to my office. You can call
- 16:36Speaker 6: my assistant Mindy three five seven zero three six seven
- 16:39Speaker 6: area code three or four if you want to make
- 16:41Speaker 6: an appointment, but we take walk ins. All you need
- 16:43Speaker 6: is a marriage license and we'll get you married up.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So give for people that aren't familiar with this. And
- 16:49Speaker 2: you've done it, how many years have you done this time?
- 16:50Speaker 6: This is my fifth year, your fifth year.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Okay, And of course it started before you though. Talk
- 16:54Speaker 2: about the history behind.
- 16:55Speaker 6: This, that's correct. So it was actually the brainchild of
- 16:58Speaker 6: Judge Charlie King, who I was assigned to a long
- 17:01Speaker 6: time ago, and he was a good mentor and a
- 17:04Speaker 6: good friend, and I thought he passed away obviously in
- 17:07Speaker 6: December of twenty twenty, and we all miss him very
- 17:10Speaker 6: much still, so this is a good way to remember
- 17:12Speaker 6: him and the ways that he was and to have
- 17:15Speaker 6: a good time.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's become quite the tradition. How many do
- 17:19Speaker 2: you remember off the top of your head, like how
- 17:21Speaker 2: many you did last year or what's the average that
- 17:23Speaker 2: you do?
- 17:24Speaker 6: I actually don't remember.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I wish I did.
- 17:25Speaker 6: I thought about that while I was sitting in your
- 17:27Speaker 6: green room. But we have done probably the most we've
- 17:29Speaker 6: ever done, I think is fifteen couples. Okay, which is
- 17:32Speaker 6: a substantially long day because everyone comes in and I
- 17:35Speaker 6: let everyone who wants to bring family in. If you
- 17:37Speaker 6: want to bring pictures, photography, of course, we'll have it
- 17:40Speaker 6: decorated balloons by Birdie comes every year and does the decoration.
- 17:44Speaker 6: She will do it again this year, so it'll be
- 17:46Speaker 6: a little bit more special than just a regular courthouse wedding.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Right again, we're talking with the judge of Mary Claire
- 17:50Speaker 2: Akers for Dave Allen showing five eighty live brought to
- 17:53Speaker 2: part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds,
- 17:55Speaker 2: because of Avalentine's Day. Head on over to Dirty Birds
- 17:58Speaker 2: baseball dot com. You can get yourself a dozen roses
- 18:01Speaker 2: from Young Floral Company for opening day tickets, a Dirty
- 18:04Speaker 2: Bird's blanket and a beanie Dirty Bird's mug, and an ornament,
- 18:08Speaker 2: all hand delivered by Dusty, the mascot for the Dirty Birds.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Can get all that for one hundred bucks. Now you
- 18:14Speaker 2: must live within twenty miles of Charleston to have it delivered.
- 18:17Speaker 2: If you need more more information, to visit dirty Birds
- 18:19Speaker 2: baseball dot com. And you said you don't have to,
- 18:22Speaker 2: You don't have to have an appointment, But do you
- 18:25Speaker 2: recommend appointments?
- 18:26Speaker 6: It is nice to have a sort of idea of
- 18:29Speaker 6: how many people we're gonna have, but I don't need to.
- 18:32Speaker 6: But if you want to make an appointment, if you're
- 18:33Speaker 6: a person who needs an appointment, that's fine too.
- 18:36Speaker 2: What's in the years that you've done this. We're going
- 18:38Speaker 2: back to Judge King. What's the most unique wedding? If
- 18:42Speaker 2: you had one that really kind of sticks out that
- 18:44Speaker 2: you thought, well, this is interesting.
- 18:47Speaker 6: There have been several, okay, but one in particular was
- 18:50Speaker 6: a Brian and groom that brought their dogs, Okay, ring bears?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Is that okay?
- 18:55Speaker 6: In the courthouse it is if they'll let you in, okay, sure,
- 19:00Speaker 6: if they still will.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Come all right, sore, Okay. So here's a good piece
- 19:02Speaker 2: of advice. If you are going to bring your dogs
- 19:04Speaker 2: as ring bearers, then probably call ahead of time. That
- 19:09Speaker 2: might be a good idea.
- 19:10Speaker 6: Yes, that is smart. But otherwise they're all really nice weddings.
- 19:15Speaker 6: It really is nice when people get married and they're
- 19:17Speaker 6: happy and they bring their families and everyone's having a
- 19:19Speaker 6: good day.
- 19:20Speaker 2: See, I would have thought, and maybe this has happened
- 19:22Speaker 2: over the years, you had a couple that was like,
- 19:24Speaker 2: had a little age on them that came back, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 2: the maybe's. And I'm not going to throw out a number.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Somebody will text me and go, well, that's not old
- 19:32Speaker 2: of fifty five plus, because I'm fifty five, So I'll
- 19:35Speaker 2: say fifty five plus.
- 19:36Speaker 6: I have had a lot of remarriages. I've had a
- 19:38Speaker 6: lot of people who have gotten divorced and have reconciled
- 19:41Speaker 6: and have gotten married again in that age group. Okay,
- 19:43Speaker 6: I've had probably four couples that have come in on
- 19:47Speaker 6: the Valentine's Day to do that.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Now, is there a limit you talked about family and
- 19:51Speaker 2: friends coming. Is there a limit that you say well this,
- 19:54Speaker 2: you know. I mean, and I would think that there
- 19:56Speaker 2: may be a limit on the number of people simply
- 19:58Speaker 2: because of the schedule, you know, because you try to
- 20:01Speaker 2: schedule them. I didn't, I mean, I mean not really.
- 20:03Speaker 6: Okay, if you want to bring a ton of people,
- 20:05Speaker 6: we'll work it out, okay.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And is there any sort of delay you talked about
- 20:09Speaker 2: people bringing video and bringing photographers. I mean you just
- 20:12Speaker 2: kind of work with them.
- 20:13Speaker 6: I kind of work with them and let them stay
- 20:15Speaker 6: as long as they would like, you know, within reason.
- 20:18Speaker 6: If I've got a bunch of people in the hallway waiting,
- 20:20Speaker 6: people are always good to accommodate. But I let everybody
- 20:23Speaker 6: take pictures before and after if they want to, Okay,
- 20:26Speaker 6: for however long they.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Need, all right. So just know that that if you're
- 20:29Speaker 2: planning on running over on your lunch hour, do you
- 20:33Speaker 2: take a break for lunch? By the way, you do not? Okay?
- 20:35Speaker 2: All right, So if you're planning on coming over in
- 20:36Speaker 2: your lunch hour, just know that if you are a
- 20:39Speaker 2: hard I have to be back by one o'clock. You
- 20:41Speaker 2: might want to be a little bit more flexible with that,
- 20:42Speaker 2: depending on the people that are in front of you.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Or just let me know, yeah, or make an appointment.
- 20:47Speaker 2: That's a good appointment. Yeah, that's a good way. All right, Well,
- 20:49Speaker 2: can I ask you a personal question? Okay? All right,
- 20:52Speaker 2: let's let's talk about your wedding. Any anything you want
- 20:55Speaker 2: to throw out about your wedding. I'll tell you mine
- 20:57Speaker 2: if you'll tell you Okay, you go first, Okay, Well, okay.
- 21:00Speaker 2: My wife and I got married in nineteen ninety two.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I remember September the nineteenth, nineteen ninety two, at a
- 21:06Speaker 2: family church in Logan County. Probably the simplest wedding ever.
- 21:11Speaker 2: We walked down the aisle together, funny story. And there's
- 21:16Speaker 2: a video floating around out there. Of course it's on VHS,
- 21:19Speaker 2: much like much like my Cowboys super Bowl. It's still
- 21:22Speaker 2: on VHS and I don't have anything to play it on.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But we got this idea we were going to walk
- 21:27Speaker 2: down the aisle together. All right. I got a little
- 21:32Speaker 2: ahead of her, and so I'm actually walking ahead of
- 21:36Speaker 2: her and like talking to the crowd and like high five,
- 21:39Speaker 2: like you know, I'm going back to my wrestling days.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I'm in a wrestling show and I'm like, hey man,
- 21:43Speaker 2: how's it?
- 21:43Speaker 10: You know?
- 21:44Speaker 2: High five and people, you know, right, and left and
- 21:45Speaker 2: I had had to stop kind of and we had
- 21:49Speaker 2: told the lady who was playing the music, it was
- 21:54Speaker 2: this is the church pianist, we said. She said, well,
- 21:57Speaker 2: what song do you want? And I and this was
- 22:00Speaker 2: the time, summer of ninety two was the big romantic
- 22:05Speaker 2: song at that time was the Brian Adams song Everything
- 22:07Speaker 2: I Do would Do It for You told her specifically,
- 22:11Speaker 2: don't play that song because I just thought it was
- 22:13Speaker 2: just a corny type song. She took it as play
- 22:16Speaker 2: that song, and so we did, you know, came out
- 22:20Speaker 2: to everything I Do I Do It for You, which
- 22:22Speaker 2: was the one song we said please don't.
- 22:24Speaker 6: Play and now it's ingrained in your memory, for it's
- 22:28Speaker 6: ingrained in my memory forever.
- 22:29Speaker 2: So all right, that was the story of my wedding.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I just remember the weather was like picture perfect. We
- 22:34Speaker 2: didn't have a honeymoon because I was working at a
- 22:37Speaker 2: radio station in Ohio and the radio station actually got
- 22:40Speaker 2: us a very nice hotel room at the Holiday Inn
- 22:46Speaker 2: in Canaga, Ohio. So we after the dinner, we packed
- 22:51Speaker 2: up drove my Ford escort to Canaga, Ohio, and that's
- 22:56Speaker 2: where we spent our honeymoon. And then I think I
- 22:59Speaker 2: had to work work the next day. I was working
- 23:01Speaker 2: a lot of weekends back in those days, so yeah,
- 23:03Speaker 2: that was mine, right, your turn now.
- 23:05Speaker 6: All right. Our wedding was in two thousand and one.
- 23:08Speaker 6: It was blazing hot that I do remember. It was
- 23:10Speaker 6: at Edgewood Country Club. We got married there. David du Boyce,
- 23:14Speaker 6: who was my childhood pastor at christ Church United Methodists,
- 23:17Speaker 6: flew in from retirement and Hilton had and married us,
- 23:20Speaker 6: which was very special to me and still is to
- 23:22Speaker 6: this day. His son, actually, Peter the Boyce is coming
- 23:25Speaker 6: to play the organ at christ Church United Methodists February
- 23:28Speaker 6: twenty second. Don't miss that cheap plug. Yeah it was,
- 23:32Speaker 6: But anyway, it was very, very hot. I was getting ready.
- 23:37Speaker 6: I was with all my bridesmaids and my friend who
- 23:40Speaker 6: was doing a reading in our wedding, Chris Larzo, came
- 23:42Speaker 6: in and he said, well, everything's going to be fine.
- 23:46Speaker 6: And I said, why is it not fine, Chris, And
- 23:48Speaker 6: he said, well, JB's hung up somewhere, but he's coming.
- 23:53Speaker 6: So it turned out that one of JB's groomsman's car
- 23:56Speaker 6: broke down and JB was literally on the side of
- 23:58Speaker 6: the interstate trying to fix the car before the wedding
- 24:01Speaker 6: got there right in time, just under the wire, like.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Little grease on his hands like that.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Yeah, but you know, you know, j B, he'll stop
- 24:07Speaker 6: and help it goes.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It goes back to that classic country song by Shennandella
- 24:11Speaker 2: Get Me Give Me to the Church on time. I
- 24:13Speaker 2: guess he made it.
- 24:14Speaker 10: He made it.
- 24:15Speaker 6: But it was blazing.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Hot, okay. And what time year was it?
- 24:17Speaker 6: It was August. I'm sorry, yeah, no, no, no, it
- 24:20Speaker 6: was juih here we.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Go, ye, it was June thirtieth.
- 24:23Speaker 6: I'm terrible.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It's the guy that has a hard time with.
- 24:26Speaker 6: August is when our first daughter was more and that's why.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you had a good excuse, yes, right,
- 24:30Speaker 2: it was all right. So let's just kind of recap here.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It's the King of Hearts Marathon wedding day. We want
- 24:35Speaker 2: to check, and it's going to be on Friday the thirteenth.
- 24:38Speaker 2: With this winter, you have to look ahead, and Brian
- 24:40Speaker 2: Hughes would tell me, you know, don't look that far
- 24:42Speaker 2: in advance. But on surface, it looks okay.
- 24:45Speaker 1: It does.
- 24:45Speaker 6: It looks like it's actually going to be clear.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, as of right now. So that's the way it
- 24:50Speaker 2: looks right now. Give us the phone number again, and
- 24:52Speaker 2: people want to call three zero four.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Three five seven zero three six seven. That is my assistant,
- 24:58Speaker 6: Mindy Martin. She will set you up with an appointment.
- 25:00Speaker 2: You want one, all right. And you said that you
- 25:01Speaker 2: have to have you have to have the pre marriage
- 25:04Speaker 2: stuff already set up. So you got to have your license,
- 25:06Speaker 2: So talking, you've got to go.
- 25:07Speaker 6: To the county clerk's office get your license from them.
- 25:10Speaker 6: You can get it same day, no problem. I can't
- 25:12Speaker 6: remember what their fee as might be. Fifteen dollars, I
- 25:16Speaker 6: hope I'm right on that. I really don't know. But
- 25:17Speaker 6: everything else after that is free, all right, all right?
- 25:20Speaker 2: Do you stop to have a blood test in West Virginia?
- 25:22Speaker 6: Do you not?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Okay? Well, I thought they did away with that.
- 25:25Speaker 6: It's been a long long time because I didn't have
- 25:26Speaker 6: to have a blood test.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Okay, way back then, Yeah, ninety two we had to
- 25:30Speaker 2: have a blood test.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think we are.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Coming up on our twenty fifth anniversary.
- 25:34Speaker 14: All that.
- 25:35Speaker 6: I just did the math in my head.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Well, happy anniversary to you and the UJB Judge Mary
- 25:40Speaker 2: clear Acres. Before I let you go, though, anything new
- 25:42Speaker 2: in the court system, I don't mean cases or anything
- 25:44Speaker 2: like that. But tell us was it guilty or absolutely
- 25:47Speaker 2: well no, no, I mean anything as far as the
- 25:50Speaker 2: court proceedings go with the you know, anything anything.
- 25:53Speaker 6: I can't think of anything actually, right off the top
- 25:55Speaker 6: of my head, I think it's all business as usual.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Most of what you're seeing coming out of the courthouse
- 25:59Speaker 6: is us having to cancel court and get done with early.
- 26:03Speaker 2: That's the bit that's been the biggest news. And because
- 26:05Speaker 2: you know, I mean, we get these announcements. You know
- 26:07Speaker 2: that you guys that Kenaw County sends out that says,
- 26:09Speaker 2: you know, the Judicial Annex will be closing early, or
- 26:12Speaker 2: the courthouse is going to be closing, and it's just
- 26:15Speaker 2: I mean, and obviously it's it's out of caution, it
- 26:18Speaker 2: has to be done, but it does, you know, impact
- 26:21Speaker 2: people that have business to do there and certainly the
- 26:23Speaker 2: people that work there. But you know, it's it's winter.
- 26:25Speaker 6: It is winter, and it's been a dangerous winter.
- 26:27Speaker 2: It has been dangerous.
- 26:28Speaker 6: Well, it's like our construction, I don't know if you've
- 26:29Speaker 6: seen that looks like it's going it's it's moving along
- 26:32Speaker 6: smoothly or thankful to the County Commission for that. We're
- 26:35Speaker 6: our new you had rich Lindsay in here, I think too.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Long a ya, he's a regular.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Yeah, he's up there doing his thing in his new,
- 26:42Speaker 6: brand new court room. I'm not jealous of it. It's
- 26:44Speaker 6: all fancy.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But all right, Lindsay give up the office there. And
- 26:49Speaker 2: I do want to tell the folks that you may
- 26:52Speaker 2: actually have more people show up this year because when
- 26:54Speaker 2: they invite you back on Wednesday a Metro News Midday,
- 26:58Speaker 2: which that means that you are going to be uh yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 2: we got your scheduled on Wednesday at two o'clock on
- 27:06Speaker 2: Metro News Midday on Wednesday, so you're going to be here.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And so we're going to be taking this message state
- 27:10Speaker 2: wide because you can get married anywhere. I mean, you know,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I mean you don't necessarily have to be in your
- 27:15Speaker 2: home county. So if somebody's listening to us in Greenbrier
- 27:17Speaker 2: County and they want to come and get married, they
- 27:19Speaker 2: can do it.
- 27:19Speaker 6: I should have said that. We actually have already had
- 27:21Speaker 6: a couple of people call and say they're coming from
- 27:23Speaker 6: about an hour hour and a half.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Okay, well we're about to add to that, just so
- 27:26Speaker 2: you know when we have you on Wednesday. And then
- 27:28Speaker 2: as your schedule allows on Friday, we'll do what we
- 27:31Speaker 2: normally have done, and we'll just kind of do a
- 27:33Speaker 2: little check and what time do you start again? I
- 27:35Speaker 2: start at nine at nine o'clock. Okay, So if I
- 27:39Speaker 2: know one year, I think what I had you on
- 27:41Speaker 2: the on the air live from there, I think we
- 27:43Speaker 2: were like your assistant was, if I remember correctly, your
- 27:46Speaker 2: assistant was texting me or whatever and say, okay, we'll
- 27:48Speaker 2: just stall a little bit. She's almost done.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Well, I won't take one if I'm getting one live
- 27:53Speaker 6: on the air. If I can get someone to an
- 27:55Speaker 6: agree to that, I will.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah. If it's just keep it short, of course, but.
- 27:59Speaker 6: It's a I think it's about a three minute okay.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Now, can people come in? And if they come in
- 28:04Speaker 2: and they say, well, i've written this, I want my
- 28:06Speaker 2: own vowels and that sort of thing, because couples do
- 28:08Speaker 2: that from time to time.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Absolutely that that's actually less work for me. So I'm
- 28:12Speaker 6: good with that as well.

- 33:30Speaker 2: I'll met your News midday. I do want to say, though,
- 33:33Speaker 2: before we get into anything else about the death of
- 33:36Speaker 2: Danny Boyd. Danny died sixty nine years old last week.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Of course he was a regular on the show here.
- 33:43Speaker 2: And what a life that Danny led. He was an
- 33:48Speaker 2: educator for well over thirty years at West Virginia State, filmmaker, author,
- 33:54Speaker 2: What a great life and a simply all around good dude.
- 33:59Speaker 2: And we're gonna have more reflections on Danny Boyd. Come
- 34:03Speaker 2: it up later today. On Metro News Midday, Larry Gross
- 34:06Speaker 2: from Mountain State just go to join us to talk
- 34:08Speaker 2: about his good friend Danny Boyd. I gotta I'll tell
- 34:12Speaker 2: you and I sort of talked about this a little
- 34:16Speaker 2: bit on Metro News Midday on Friday when we learned
- 34:19Speaker 2: about the death of Danny Boyd. One of my favorite
- 34:22Speaker 2: Danny Boyd's stories. Danny did a variety of things. Is
- 34:26Speaker 2: as I said, screenwriter, author, wrote kid's books, traveled. I mean,
- 34:32Speaker 2: he just just a very very unique guy. Uh. But
- 34:35Speaker 2: he had an interest in pro wrestling. And when I
- 34:39Speaker 2: say he had an interest in pro wrestling. I don't
- 34:42Speaker 2: mean he sat back like many of us did, you know,
- 34:45Speaker 2: back in the day, and watched it at six oh
- 34:47Speaker 2: five on Saturday night, which is where I became hooked
- 34:49Speaker 2: on pro wrestling. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking
- 34:52Speaker 2: about he got involved in it and had in a
- 34:56Speaker 2: couple of his movies. He had Dusty Rhoads, you know,
- 34:58Speaker 2: the legendary Dusty Roads in a movie of his. And
- 35:02Speaker 2: so Danny got involved in pro wrestling, and mainly because
- 35:08Speaker 2: he was doing some writing about it wanted to learn
- 35:10Speaker 2: more about it. When I say Danny got involved, I
- 35:12Speaker 2: mean he really got involved. And if you knew Danny
- 35:15Speaker 2: boyd Danny was not a big guy. Okay, I mean
- 35:18Speaker 2: not a big guy. I'm gonna guess five seven, five eight,
- 35:23Speaker 2: maybe one hundred and fifty five hundred and sixty pounds, Okay,
- 35:26Speaker 2: not a big guy at all. But he got involved
- 35:30Speaker 2: in it, and he became a manager, not a wrestler,
- 35:33Speaker 2: although he did as we used to stay in a
- 35:35Speaker 2: wrestling business. He did take a few bumps every now
- 35:37Speaker 2: and then, which means he got hit and thrown around
- 35:39Speaker 2: and stuff like that, because he believed in fully throwing
- 35:43Speaker 2: himself into the character, and I used to, as I've
- 35:50Speaker 2: told you before, I used to ring announce a lot
- 35:51Speaker 2: of wrestling events all over the country. And this particular night,
- 35:56Speaker 2: we were in the thriving metropolis of Jeffrey in Boone
- 36:00Speaker 2: County and we were doing a wrestling show was I
- 36:06Speaker 2: was serving as ring announcer. Danny came in with some
- 36:09Speaker 2: other guys, and Danny off Mike was like the most humble,
- 36:16Speaker 2: you know, just easy going guy, but much like a
- 36:19Speaker 2: lot of wrestlers do when they get involved in the
- 36:21Speaker 2: business or managers, became a totally different person. And he
- 36:28Speaker 2: got on the microphone. And this was supposed a time,
- 36:31Speaker 2: I don't know the exact year, two thousand and eight,
- 36:35Speaker 2: two thousand and nine, something like that. Ten maybe he
- 36:38Speaker 2: gets on the microphone and again you got to remember
- 36:41Speaker 2: where we are. We were in Jeffrey, in Boone County,
- 36:43Speaker 2: right in the heart of coal country. The coal industry
- 36:46Speaker 2: was really starting to struggle at that time. I'm gonna
- 36:49Speaker 2: leave the politics out of this, but you know what
- 36:51Speaker 2: was going on at that time, So the coal industry
- 36:53Speaker 2: was struggling a lot more than had there layoffs and
- 36:55Speaker 2: things of that nature, battles with the EPA, so on
- 36:58Speaker 2: and so forth. Danny gets on on the microphone, grabs
- 37:01Speaker 2: the microphone from me, which you know, spoiler alert, I
- 37:04Speaker 2: knew that was coming, grabs the microphone from me, tells
- 37:08Speaker 2: me to you know, sit down and shut up, and
- 37:10Speaker 2: then starts trashing the coal industry, talking about you dirty,
- 37:16Speaker 2: disgusting coal miners, going getting on your knees and rooting
- 37:21Speaker 2: around like groundhogs. And I'm so glad that the Obama
- 37:26Speaker 2: administration and the EPA is doing what they are doing
- 37:29Speaker 2: to shut down this industry. None of you people desert
- 37:32Speaker 2: And even even for me, as somebody who spent a
- 37:38Speaker 2: great deal of time in the wrestling business and at
- 37:40Speaker 2: that point had been in it for the Math Dave
- 37:44Speaker 2: well over twenty years. At that point, it was a
- 37:47Speaker 2: little much. Okay, We're in a small grade school gym,
- 37:51Speaker 2: Jeffrey Spencer Grade School in Boone County, and I thought
- 37:56Speaker 2: to myself, we are not going to get out of
- 37:58Speaker 2: here alive. And you know, a lot of coal miners
- 38:03Speaker 2: were there. They brought their kids, and you know, I
- 38:07Speaker 2: think that they thought it, okay, this is part of
- 38:11Speaker 2: the show until it's not. And literally, security, which is
- 38:18Speaker 2: usually you know what you'd expect at a small wrestling
- 38:21Speaker 2: show in Boone County, West Virginia, what security is. It
- 38:26Speaker 2: got ugly. It got ugly really really quickly. And I
- 38:30Speaker 2: had to talk to a good friend of mine who
- 38:34Speaker 2: was there with his family and say, look, I need
- 38:37Speaker 2: your help because we are not going to get out
- 38:40Speaker 2: of here live. And we had to cover Danny up,
- 38:44Speaker 2: escort him out of the building, put him in his car,
- 38:46Speaker 2: and said, look, you need to leave now, and well
- 38:50Speaker 2: we're only halfway through. No, no, no, Danny, you got
- 38:52Speaker 2: to leave now. And he left, and so we got
- 39:00Speaker 2: the crowd sort of calmed down a little bit at
- 39:03Speaker 2: that point. But I just wanted to throw I just
- 39:07Speaker 2: wanted to throw that out there about Danny boyd He
- 39:11Speaker 2: sixty nine years old, as I said, frequent guests to
- 39:13Speaker 2: the show, and every time Danny would come in, I
- 39:18Speaker 2: would say, hey, do you remember Jeffrey said Jeffrey, West Virginia,
- 39:23Speaker 2: where we damn near didn't make it out alive. I'm
- 39:25Speaker 2: just saying, but good times. And I was going back
- 39:28Speaker 2: through my text messages and the last text I got
- 39:31Speaker 2: from Danny was when he was on the show promoting
- 39:35Speaker 2: one of his children's books and I sent him a
- 39:38Speaker 2: picture I had taken a picture of him holding his
- 39:40Speaker 2: books and I texted to him. In his last text
- 39:43Speaker 2: to me, he said, Dave, you're a peach. And if
- 39:47Speaker 2: you knew Danny Boyd, that's a classic Danny. But You're
- 39:50Speaker 2: a peach rip to Professor Danger. Danny Boyd. But Dave

- 44:03Speaker 2: the cult wanted? A united Western Hemisphere? Texas. My TVO
- 44:09Speaker 2: had a software gledg dury at halftime. Second half was
- 44:12Speaker 2: broadcast in Spanish, says the Texter. Well, let's start it
- 44:15Speaker 2: with a halftime show against all this uproar about the
- 44:20Speaker 2: halftime show. Okay, and we talked about this a little
- 44:22Speaker 2: bit last week. I'll tell you I did not have
- 44:25Speaker 2: a rooting interest in the football game either way. I
- 44:27Speaker 2: was kind of pulling for Seattle because Dale Cooper is
- 44:30Speaker 2: a Seahawks fan. I got another fans or other friends
- 44:32Speaker 2: that are Patriots fan. I was kind of pulling for Seattle.
- 44:35Speaker 2: The single most boring first half in the history of
- 44:39Speaker 2: Super Bowls, in my opinion, to the point that I
- 44:42Speaker 2: handed the remote to my wife. I said, take it.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Just do whatever you want to do with him, and
- 44:46Speaker 2: we did watch the Bad Money halftime show. Not really
- 44:52Speaker 2: my thing, because number one, I like actual musicians who
- 44:57Speaker 2: actually play and don't lip sync and things like that.
- 45:00Speaker 2: And I understand, I've been in the business long enough.
- 45:02Speaker 2: I know it's almost impossible to do that. So it
- 45:04Speaker 2: had nothing to do with his particular style of music.
- 45:07Speaker 2: It wasn't that. I just prefer you want to you
- 45:09Speaker 2: want to entertain me, get me four guys up there
- 45:12Speaker 2: or gals sitting with a guitar and no dancing, no whatever,
- 45:16Speaker 2: and I'd like that. But that's just me. Okay, that's
- 45:18Speaker 2: just me. I prefer actual live musicians. Okay, I watched it.
- 45:21Speaker 2: It was visually appealing, I guess if you like that
- 45:25Speaker 2: sort of thing. But I just you know, your social
- 45:30Speaker 2: media feed. And I told my wife yesterday, I said, okay,
- 45:35Speaker 2: a bit of advice, just stay off social media, you know.
- 45:39Speaker 2: And I tried to adhere to the advice myself because
- 45:42Speaker 2: all it's going to be, and you saw it, all
- 45:46Speaker 2: it was going to be was that's the greatest halftime
- 45:49Speaker 2: show ever or that's the worst halftime show ever. And
- 45:55Speaker 2: if you don't like it, then you're a racist, which
- 45:59Speaker 2: I think is as salute BS because you can not
- 46:03Speaker 2: like something and doesn't make you erasist. Maybe you just
- 46:05Speaker 2: didn't like it, you know, and it's just it's just
- 46:11Speaker 2: where we are. There were people that are gonna comment,
- 46:13Speaker 2: and they have online. They didn't care what bad Bunny did.
- 46:17Speaker 2: They were going to comment and say it was terrible
- 46:22Speaker 2: no matter what. And there were gonna be those who
- 46:24Speaker 2: are gonna say it's the greatest thing ever, no matter what.
- 46:29Speaker 2: So I did this morning. I watched the turning Point,
- 46:37Speaker 2: the alternative, which, by the way, this is not new.
- 46:40Speaker 2: There have been alternative halftime shows in the past. The
- 46:43Speaker 2: show Living Color did it back in the nineties. Wwe
- 46:47Speaker 2: did something one time, so there have been other alternatives.
- 46:51Speaker 2: I thought, calling it the all Americans show when a newsflash,
- 46:56Speaker 2: bad Bunny is from Puerto Rico, which is an America
- 47:00Speaker 2: a territory, so he's American. I thought was a little childish,
- 47:05Speaker 2: but okay, whatever, I watched it this morning, I recorded it.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I watched it before I came to Worth this morning,
- 47:10Speaker 2: and it was good. The turning point us from a
- 47:12Speaker 2: musical standpoint, I thought it was good. I actually preferred
- 47:16Speaker 2: it from a musical standpoint. But that's just my what
- 47:19Speaker 2: I like in music. Okay, Kid Rock of course performed
- 47:28Speaker 2: as kid Rock Ball with the ball his big hit
- 47:30Speaker 2: which believe it or not, that's songs almost thirty years old.
- 47:33Speaker 2: And then he went away and Brantley Gilbert some other
- 47:35Speaker 2: people came out, and then he came back as Rob Ritchie,
- 47:38Speaker 2: which is a real name, and he did a country
- 47:41Speaker 2: song by Cody Johnson and he did a great job
- 47:47Speaker 2: on it. Okay, you know, so what I just I don't.
- 47:54Speaker 2: I just don't understand. But it's just where we are.
- 47:59Speaker 2: I mean, it's just where we are.
- 48:00Speaker 8: Are.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I mean, son comes out today. I could post on
- 48:04Speaker 2: my social media, hey it's Sonny, and somebody said, well,
- 48:07Speaker 2: how can you enjoy son when Trump's in office? Or
- 48:10Speaker 2: you know or vice versa, you know or you know.
- 48:13Speaker 2: It's just I don't know, It's just it's getting to
- 48:16Speaker 2: the point now it's just simply ridiculous. And Texas Dave
- 48:22Speaker 2: worst super Bowl I've seen for years, definitely the worst
- 48:25Speaker 2: halftime entertainment. Couldn't understand the word it was sung. Sad
- 48:28Speaker 2: to say the least, thanks as a texture.
- 48:31Speaker 17: Texas Dave. Kid Rock was a dude. Okay, I think
- 48:38Speaker 17: I said that. I don't really know what that means,
- 48:40Speaker 17: but he is it like saying TJ's laughing at me?
- 48:44Speaker 17: Is it like saying when you say someone's a dog
- 48:46Speaker 17: and it means that they're good. I mean, I don't
- 48:48Speaker 17: know what that text means.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Maybe they meant he was the dude or the dude,
- 48:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I look and I'll say this about
- 48:54Speaker 2: kid Rock. I have been a kid Rock fan since
- 48:56Speaker 2: he came out. I like it. The theme to this
- 48:59Speaker 2: show is a kid Rock song. So hot. Okay. I
- 49:02Speaker 2: like kid Rock. Okay. I think he's a very good musician,
- 49:06Speaker 2: and a lot of people will scoff at that, but
- 49:07Speaker 2: I will say man plays like ten different instruments, doesn't
- 49:10Speaker 2: read a note of music, and he's self taught and
- 49:12Speaker 2: he started playing when he was twenty five years old.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I respect that, Okay, I wish he wouldn't be as
- 49:18Speaker 2: involved in the political stuff as he is. I'm my
- 49:20Speaker 2: motto on all singers, regardless of the isle, has always
- 49:23Speaker 2: been shut up and sing, you know, just do your thing.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Or but that's just that's that's personal preference. I do
- 49:29Speaker 2: think though, that the people that are losing their minds
- 49:33Speaker 2: over a Spanish halftime show are people that probably for
- 49:40Speaker 2: the most part, need to master the English language themselves,
- 49:44Speaker 2: learn how to learn, learn the different kinds of theirs
- 49:48Speaker 2: t H E R E or t H I R.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Learn ideal from idea, and then then we'll talk. Okay,
- 49:56Speaker 2: but I guess I'm just old TJ. I just I don't.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I don't care anymore. Don't I don't care. I just
- 50:03Speaker 2: I just don't.
- 50:04Speaker 7: Let me tell you what was great about last night. Okay,
- 50:07Speaker 7: last night was America. Last night was the market. People
- 50:12Speaker 7: voted with their dollars by their remote control. They either
- 50:16Speaker 7: watched something or they didn't. They watched one halftime show
- 50:19Speaker 7: or the other, or if you like me, I found
- 50:21Speaker 7: that Roadhouse was on and I left that.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Well, the game itself wasn't entertaining, So I mean, I
- 50:26Speaker 2: guess it got bed. I heard Chris on the Morning
- 50:28Speaker 2: News say it got better after we went to bet
- 50:31Speaker 2: not together up.
- 50:32Speaker 7: And that's all that corporate America cares about. That's all
- 50:35Speaker 7: they should care about. The NFL made a strategic decision
- 50:38Speaker 7: last night. They thought that by having Big Bunny on
- 50:41Speaker 7: they could diversify their bad Bunny Okay, sorry, but whatever
- 50:45Speaker 7: his name is. They thought that they could diversify their
- 50:47Speaker 7: audience and bring in a younger audience who otherwise wasn't
- 50:50Speaker 7: watching the game. They made a calculated bet. The data
- 50:53Speaker 7: will tell whether or not that proved to be accurate
- 50:57Speaker 7: and whether or not they can profit often.
- 50:59Speaker 2: But here's what we are TJ. People won't believe the
- 51:01Speaker 2: data when the data don't have to the data data
- 51:04Speaker 2: is hard. It's dollars. No, it's dollars. It's fake. It's fake.
- 51:08Speaker 2: That's that's what we'll be saying. Whatever, Texas. Dave you
- 51:10Speaker 2: like to laugh all the way to the bank with
- 51:11Speaker 2: the fake dollars, then, Dave you like the lyrics of
- 51:13Speaker 2: him singing about underage girls. I think that's where the
- 51:15Speaker 2: kid rock hate mostly comes from. Toy I want to
- 51:19Speaker 2: push back on it and say that's not where all
- 51:20Speaker 2: the hate comes from. Yes, he does. He does. He
- 51:22Speaker 2: has done songs about about about young girls. So I
- 51:26Speaker 2: have a lot of people in the hip hop world too.
- 51:28Speaker 7: You know, this is America. I'll watch what I want
- 51:30Speaker 7: to watch, and I'm not a racist. If I don't
- 51:32Speaker 7: watch something, I'm not a racist if I do watch something.
- 51:35Speaker 7: Get off your high horse.
- 51:36Speaker 2: In his story, all right, text says write no Facebook
- 51:39Speaker 2: for me today, says the text. Well, I think most
- 51:41Speaker 2: of it was posted last night anyway. So you guys
- 51:44Speaker 2: have got the bright day that to bring me back
- 51:45Speaker 2: to talk about this at ten thirty.
- 51:47Speaker 7: Look, that's what everybody's talking about. So that's what we
- 51:50Speaker 7: do on this show. In my show and your show,
- 51:52Speaker 7: we talk about what people are talking about. And I'm
- 51:54Speaker 7: not shy about sharing my opinion about it. You're not shy.
- 51:56Speaker 7: So listeners can call up or text let us know
- 51:59Speaker 7: what they think. We'll talk some politics in there too,
- 52:01Speaker 7: And Brad Mcklehenny's going to lead you off the day.
- 52:03Speaker 7: Happy birthday, Brat, Happy birthday, Brat. Were are we supposed
- 52:06Speaker 7: to disclose that?
- 52:07Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't either, said, cats out the bag.
- 52:09Speaker 2: I did early. What people have birthdays? I mean, I'm sorry,
- 52:12Speaker 2: he not me. He wasn't you know, hatch, he actually
- 52:15Speaker 2: he actually what is your birthday? By the way, you
- 52:17Speaker 2: don't need to know, dude. Okay, I'll I'll just go
- 52:19Speaker 2: break into Ashley's office upstairs, and you know what I have.
- 52:22Speaker 7: For whatever reason, no one knows it here. I don't
- 52:24Speaker 7: know how I've pulled that off. But no one knows
- 52:26Speaker 7: what TJ stands for either.
- 52:27Speaker 2: They don't. I think it stands for Thelma June Hiberius Jones.
- 52:31Speaker 2: But that's just me Zee later till then, have fun.
- 52:33Speaker 2: I love somebody.
- 52:48Speaker 12: I mean you see it.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Sam ninty six point five. That then Charleston one oh
- 52:51Speaker 1: four point five Cross Langue w VRC Media Station. We're
- 52:57Speaker 1: proud to live here, to
