- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hi, there's a Colin Machria of whose line is it?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Anyway you're listening to tech Talk Radio. I don't know
- 0:08Speaker 2: how it works.
- 0:09Speaker 1: It's all magical.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Stuff to me.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm Matt Jones, and I'm justin Let me. It's the
- 0:20Speaker 1: first show of the year twenty twenty five. You guys
- 0:22Speaker 1: had a great Christmas and a and a great New Year.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We did. Definitely. It was It was interesting.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I mean, honestly, I just felt like I was just
- 0:28Speaker 4: so discombobulated this entire holiday season forgetting to wrap gifts,
- 0:32Speaker 4: and then my mom would send gifts for Eric and
- 0:36Speaker 4: my wife, and then I would forget which ones were
- 0:39Speaker 4: from her versus you know, which ones were for me,
- 0:43Speaker 4: and then and then and then and then the whole
- 0:45Speaker 4: Santa thing, and.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's just like wow, I just yeah, it was a
- 0:49Speaker 2: it was. It was. It was good when it all
- 0:51Speaker 2: got done.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You even took a little trip. You went to some
- 0:54Speaker 1: ice thing. What what what was that all about? I
- 0:56Speaker 1: thought that looked cut of cool.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I was not just singing at the Gaylor No
- 1:00Speaker 4: Cripple Creek. Oh okay, that's where we went. We went
- 1:03Speaker 4: out up to Cripple Creek. So that's about two and
- 1:05Speaker 4: a half hours southwest of Denver, about an hour west
- 1:09Speaker 4: of Colorado Springs. It's right behind Pike's Peak, the tallest
- 1:13Speaker 4: mountain in Colorado. So yeah, we went out there. That's
- 1:16Speaker 4: where the ice castles were. That's initially what we, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 4: went out there for. But we decided, you know, since
- 1:22Speaker 4: it's two and a half hour drive, We're like, let's
- 1:23Speaker 4: just stay the night because I don't really want to
- 1:25Speaker 4: drive two and a half hours back.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So yeah, it was fun.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I mean, the ice castles in Cripple Creek weren't as
- 1:31Speaker 4: nice as they were in Dylan, Colorado, which is near Breckenridge,
- 1:35Speaker 4: but it was still interesting to go. And then you know,
- 1:38Speaker 4: we just kind of hung out as a family. Cripple
- 1:40Speaker 4: Creek is a big gambling town, so there's a lot
- 1:41Speaker 4: of caslos there really see. But I'll tell you the
- 1:44Speaker 4: most interesting thing about it was we took the Tesla.
- 1:47Speaker 4: So and I mentioned the previous show, I sold my
- 1:50Speaker 4: twenty seventeen Ford Explorer. We got the we got my
- 1:52Speaker 4: wife a new twenty twenty five Toyta Camri, but we
- 1:55Speaker 4: took the twenty twenty three Tesla Model Y, which is
- 1:59Speaker 4: now my primary vehicle.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We took that too.
- 2:01Speaker 4: There and we have another one of those full self
- 2:04Speaker 4: driving trials.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Okay, they just released.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Thirteen dot three dot two is the version that they
- 2:10Speaker 4: just released. And I tell you, I took it from
- 2:14Speaker 4: my garage all the way to Cripple Creek on full
- 2:18Speaker 4: self driving and it did not fail one bit. It
- 2:21Speaker 4: was absolutely perfect. I had charged it to one hundred
- 2:25Speaker 4: percent before I left. We got there, we had about
- 2:27Speaker 4: forty percent left, which was not enough to get us
- 2:31Speaker 4: home because obviously, you know, we need at least fifty percent.
- 2:34Speaker 4: So that forty percent got us back into Colorado Springs
- 2:37Speaker 4: the next day, and then we stopped at a supercharger
- 2:40Speaker 4: and just charged it a little bit. It took like
- 2:42Speaker 4: ten minutes to charge ith back up to like sixty
- 2:44Speaker 4: percent and then we just took off from there.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But no, it was great. I mean, the full self.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Driving on Tesla has gotten so much better over the years, right,
- 2:54Speaker 4: I love it. And as a matter of fact, we
- 2:57Speaker 4: had a friend of ours, as a coworker of my wife's,
- 3:00Speaker 4: that wanted to buy a Tesla. So we gave them
- 3:02Speaker 4: our referral code. And the referral code is like you
- 3:04Speaker 4: could earn up to one thousand dollars in Tesla credits
- 3:09Speaker 4: if they buy a Teslas. So like, if they buy
- 3:12Speaker 4: like the cheapest one, I think you get like two
- 3:14Speaker 4: hundred and fifty dollars. If they bought a Model s Plaid,
- 3:18Speaker 4: which is their top of the top of the line, right,
- 3:21Speaker 4: you would get a thousand. We got a thousand. Oh
- 3:23Speaker 4: they bought a Model s Plaid, And I'm like, oh
- 3:26Speaker 4: my god.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But I'm like, what do I do?
- 3:28Speaker 4: Like, there's one thousand dollars in Tesla credits, I can't
- 3:31Speaker 4: cash it out and take cash from it. I have
- 3:32Speaker 4: to buy Tesla stuff with it, so I don't and
- 3:35Speaker 4: there's not a lot to buy. So I basically I
- 3:38Speaker 4: bought all weather mats for the entire interior and the
- 3:43Speaker 4: rear trunk. I bought some illuminated door sills, like when
- 3:46Speaker 4: you open the door, it shows the word Tesla.
- 3:48Speaker 2: On the ground.
- 3:49Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And then I'm going to get probably six months of
- 3:51Speaker 4: full self driving. On the way back, we were driving
- 3:54Speaker 4: we were basically in Denver Tech Center, South Denver, and
- 3:58Speaker 4: driving on the freeway, lots of cars on the freeway,
- 4:01Speaker 4: and there was some complete idiot in a beat up
- 4:06Speaker 4: old truck towing a flatbed trailer with a bunch of
- 4:10Speaker 4: rocks that were left over from whatever they were, and
- 4:14Speaker 4: the rocks were bouncing off the trailer and it came
- 4:16Speaker 4: up and it and it took a tiny not a
- 4:20Speaker 4: whole crack, but just a little nick off of the windshield,
- 4:23Speaker 4: just a tiny, little, tiny little nick, and then it
- 4:27Speaker 4: also hit the hood and took off a little bit
- 4:29Speaker 4: of paint off the hood. And I'm just like, you
- 4:30Speaker 4: gotta be kidney. So I know, because I was driving
- 4:33Speaker 4: and I was in full self driving mode, and I
- 4:35Speaker 4: started hearing this, you know, just little tiny things, and
- 4:38Speaker 4: I'm like, what's that? And I look up ahead and
- 4:40Speaker 4: I see this guy, and I immediately took control and
- 4:43Speaker 4: the full self driving disengaged.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And it was like what happened?
- 4:46Speaker 4: Full self driving disengaged and I just floored it. But
- 4:50Speaker 4: I tell you right now, as soon as I passed
- 4:51Speaker 4: that truck, the people behind me, they were swerving left
- 4:54Speaker 4: and right because that guy's car was just where the
- 4:56Speaker 4: trailer was, just dropping rocks.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't even a load.
- 5:00Speaker 4: It was a flatbed trailer empty, but it had leftover
- 5:03Speaker 4: pebbles from whatever he was hauling, and when it would
- 5:06Speaker 4: hit a bump, those pebbles would shake off. That's why
- 5:08Speaker 4: they tell you when you're gonna haul something a trailer,
- 5:11Speaker 4: sweep your trailer before you hit the hallway.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that would get rid of this stuff. I mean,
- 5:15Speaker 2: this guy was an idiot.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I thought it was cool. I left work the other
- 5:18Speaker 1: day here at KGVUI and I and I remember looking
- 5:23Speaker 1: at my tire, thinking, man, that looks low. And then
- 5:26Speaker 1: I get in the car and I start to drive,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and as I turn on the lock Canyata, I get
- 5:31Speaker 1: the indicator. It says nine pounds of pressure in the
- 5:34Speaker 1: back left tire. So I pulled over. I just said, grab,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I grabbed. I've got a a one of those air pumps.
- 5:44Speaker 1: They have to plug it into the back twelve vault.
- 5:47Speaker 1: The great reacher reached that thing around and plug it
- 5:50Speaker 1: into the tire, and it took me about ten minutes,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but I got it back up to forty PSI and
- 5:57Speaker 1: I thought, okay, this is gonna be good. I could
- 5:59Speaker 1: now drive to Discount Tire because I got the warranty
- 6:01Speaker 1: on the tires, the whole bit, and I started driving
- 6:04Speaker 1: and I just did it really wasn't dropping that much.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I got all the way to my discount tire which
- 6:09Speaker 1: is on Aina northwest side of Tucson, and you know,
- 6:13Speaker 1: they ended up patching. It was just a nail that
- 6:16Speaker 1: was in that. But you got something that made me think,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I wish it would have had this because it's a
- 6:22Speaker 1: little less bulkier to carry and you don't plug anything in.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 4: So I picked up this little handheld portable air pump.
- 6:31Speaker 4: It's by air Moto, and I got on Amazon. I
- 6:34Speaker 4: want to say it was like sixty nine dollars off
- 6:37Speaker 4: the door, but it is. It fits in the palm
- 6:39Speaker 4: of your hand and it's a very nice and portable.
- 6:43Speaker 4: You can just pop out the little stem, you screw
- 6:46Speaker 4: it into the base and then you can you can
- 6:49Speaker 4: actually inflate any tires up to one hundred I think
- 6:53Speaker 4: it's one hundred.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And fifty psi. So you can just set your PSI,
- 6:58Speaker 2: hit the button.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh, I like, that's start pumping, so you can tell
- 7:03Speaker 1: it it's forty two psi. It will stop when it
- 7:06Speaker 1: hits the forty two. When it hits the forty two.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And this is great because I mean, like the Tesla
- 7:12Speaker 1: is so super heavy. I mean those cars are small,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but with the battery packs, that car is over a ton. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: and to be able to inflate the tires of a
- 7:21Speaker 1: Tesla with a little, tiny handheld device is amazing.
- 7:25Speaker 2: How much was I also have you.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Know Eric's Eric's little electric scooter, Our bikes, my electric
- 7:31Speaker 4: scooter that I got for Christmas. We'll talk about that later.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I mean, all these things. This thing for sixty nine
- 7:36Speaker 4: dollars was amazing.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's a great deal. I think I bought mine that
- 7:39Speaker 1: plugs in for forty five bucks, so for sixty's I
- 7:44Speaker 1: like the fact that you could set the PSI and
- 7:46Speaker 1: now I have to I had to keep like staring
- 7:48Speaker 1: at it waiting for it to get to that.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So it's by air Moto a AI r m O
- 7:53Speaker 4: t O air Moto. It's a tiny little handheld pump.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's really really cool.
- 7:57Speaker 1: We'll put the link up on our website. You know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you've been working on something as well in your TV room,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but so has Matt. Matt, You've kind of been doing
- 8:06Speaker 1: the same thing, and you did something that I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: looking at this week. But then I thought, is it
- 8:11Speaker 1: really kind of a yeah, maybe I shouldn't get it
- 8:14Speaker 1: soundbar technology, Ah yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 3: It's probably lovely listeners. I can make a good comparison
- 8:20Speaker 3: between sound bars and your traditional home theater setup in
- 8:25Speaker 3: my basement, in our home theater room, I've got six
- 8:28Speaker 3: speakers mounted in my ceiling. I have two tenants, so
- 8:32Speaker 3: offers to your traditional receiver. It it is the equivalent
- 8:38Speaker 3: of being in a movie theater.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I've had a couple of different soundbars, but we decided
- 8:44Speaker 3: to splurge for Christmas and replace the ones that we had.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I went to best Buy, I rated the tech Graveyard
- 8:52Speaker 3: and traded in a whole bunch of old equipment. Wait wait, wait,
- 8:54Speaker 3: hold on, hold on, what do you traded Yeah with
- 8:57Speaker 3: that Okay, so I discovered this best for the past
- 9:00Speaker 3: few years has had has had a trade in program
- 9:03Speaker 3: what where similar to other sites? You know, it needs
- 9:07Speaker 3: to be able to power on, run off battery charge,
- 9:10Speaker 3: you know, preferably not have a shattered screen. Your usual
- 9:15Speaker 3: like checklist of when you trade in a device. But
- 9:17Speaker 3: I was trading in tablets laptops. They limit you to
- 9:21Speaker 3: a maximum of three devices per calendar day, but I
- 9:25Speaker 3: was able to trade. You go in and when you
- 9:27Speaker 3: walk in, you're just like, hey, I'm here for trade in.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So they're like, oh, okay, go talk to this guy.
- 9:32Speaker 3: And the dude took me over to computing and it
- 9:34Speaker 3: was you know, okay, give me the model, get the specifics,
- 9:37Speaker 3: punch in the serial number, get your ID, they check it,
- 9:40Speaker 3: and you just trade it in.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I had no idea they did that.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't either until it was like, oh, you
- 9:46Speaker 3: can trade stuff in towards this.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I was like letting Eric just tear apart my old laptops.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I should have just traded them in.
- 9:52Speaker 5: So it and honestly, like the trade in process for
- 9:55Speaker 5: three devices took me ten minutes.
- 9:58Speaker 2: That is so cool.
- 9:59Speaker 5: The the only thing you have to it has.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It's supposed to come with a charger and cable, so
- 10:06Speaker 3: like laptops comes with a laptop charger. In my tablets
- 10:08Speaker 3: was a USB plug in, the USB cable. Anything that's Apple.
- 10:13Speaker 3: You have to de register it from find my device
- 10:17Speaker 3: and then go on a website and turn it off
- 10:19Speaker 3: there as well. And if you go to trade in
- 10:21Speaker 3: FAQs with best Buy, they walk you through how to
- 10:23Speaker 3: do that.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Laptops.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I was like, do I have to like do a
- 10:27Speaker 3: clean install, a factory reset. They're like, nah, as soon
- 10:29Speaker 3: as it gets to the processing, they nuke it from orbit,
- 10:33Speaker 3: do a clean you know, do overrites, do a clean install,
- 10:37Speaker 3: touch it up, and then they sell this used stuff amazing,
- 10:41Speaker 3: which I thought was awesome.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Did they sell it in store? Do they like do
- 10:44Speaker 2: it from the online or.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It's online as far as I know, Yeah, I don't
- 10:48Speaker 3: think it's done in the store. I think they actually
- 10:49Speaker 3: have like a Best Buy outlet site where they're selling
- 10:51Speaker 3: that store.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Or they would sell it as a referb probably. Oh
- 10:55Speaker 1: that's kind of cool.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I traded in a bunch of stuff and we got
- 10:58Speaker 3: the brand new Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar and the son
- 11:03Speaker 3: No sub four.
- 11:04Speaker 2: The son No sub four first.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Off is huge, right, like it's it and it's like
- 11:11Speaker 3: twenty five pounds. This setup was a it was a
- 11:14Speaker 3: little wonky. It wasn't quite as smooth as they say
- 11:16Speaker 3: it'll be because you have to do everything through the app, right,
- 11:20Speaker 3: But honestly, we we set up that soundbar for our
- 11:23Speaker 3: our upstairs are our main level TV, where like I
- 11:26Speaker 3: don't want to go downstairs for and everything on, Like,
- 11:28Speaker 3: that's just easy place to sit watch something. That combo
- 11:33Speaker 3: of the sons ARC and the sub four they wirelessly communicate.
- 11:39Speaker 3: You set up a room inside the SONOSAP so you
- 11:42Speaker 3: can control everything, and it's unreal. It's full Dolby at most.
- 11:49Speaker 3: This sound beautifully fills the room just with the soundbar,
- 11:52Speaker 3: no satellite speakers. I can hear sound coming at me
- 11:55Speaker 3: from the sides, sound coming from the rear. Because when
- 11:59Speaker 3: you finish ugging everything in and getting it together in
- 12:02Speaker 3: the app, it's like, okay, do true tone setup. So
- 12:04Speaker 3: you tap that, you allow it to use the microphone
- 12:07Speaker 3: on your phone, and it starts sending out these pulse
- 12:10Speaker 3: sounds from the soundbar and it uses that inside the
- 12:14Speaker 3: app to be like, okay, he's sitting here, here's how
- 12:16Speaker 3: the sound is hitting. Here's how we tune the speakers
- 12:19Speaker 3: for all the output. It was awesome. It was like
- 12:22Speaker 3: the old Odyssey setup for receivers. But I didn't need
- 12:25Speaker 3: a special little mic that plugged in choose the height.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I was just like, I sit here and I held
- 12:30Speaker 3: it like right where my left ear would be, and
- 12:33Speaker 3: it just went through.
- 12:34Speaker 5: The sound is beautiful.
- 12:36Speaker 3: The dialogue is chrisp you can differentiate all the different channels.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Like we put on an action movie to try it out.
- 12:44Speaker 3: We actually broke it in with a tropic thunder.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Yeah, because our.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Gen Z pseudo adoptee had never seen it. So we
- 12:55Speaker 3: were like, okay, we're watching tropic thunder like this. You
- 12:59Speaker 3: have to watch this masterpiece of Robert Downey Junior and
- 13:02Speaker 3: Ben Stiller.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh, don't forget the end scene with Tom Cruise.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Oh yes, oh man.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Not only is the sound beautiful coming out of the soundbar,
- 13:11Speaker 3: the sub wiffer rattles my couch.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Behind your couch or.
- 13:17Speaker 3: The sub wifer we have the subfer set behind the
- 13:19Speaker 3: couch in the back of the room. And then you
- 13:20Speaker 3: also have surround speakers to the tube satellite. No, no
- 13:24Speaker 3: satellite speakers with this thing anymore.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Okay, no, it's just the soundbar. Now.
- 13:29Speaker 3: The other cool thing about the SOS is all their
- 13:31Speaker 3: stuff works together. So eventually I do want satellite speakers,
- 13:35Speaker 3: and if I get I think they're the SOS Arrow
- 13:37Speaker 3: one hundreds. You just go into the app when you
- 13:40Speaker 3: plug him in everything and you do add satellite speakers
- 13:43Speaker 3: and it'll walk you through the setup and it automatically
- 13:45Speaker 3: pairs them to the whole system and it just all works.
- 13:49Speaker 3: The sub whiffer rattles the couch and that's without even
- 13:53Speaker 3: cranking it up.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I am afraid to increase.
- 13:56Speaker 2: The output on it.
- 13:57Speaker 3: It's that ridiculous that one soundbar matches my two home
- 14:02Speaker 3: two ten inch home theater soundbars in my basement.
- 14:05Speaker 1: You know, I'm wondering, Matt, with so many people stay
- 14:07Speaker 1: at home and watching movies like the Wait, because now
- 14:10Speaker 1: I used to be it would take two years for
- 14:12Speaker 1: a movie to hit cable, or you know, maybe a
- 14:15Speaker 1: year for it to be available on DVD or Blu Ray.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It's not the case anymore. And now we could turn
- 14:20Speaker 1: around in three four months have a movie like you
- 14:23Speaker 1: know that's been a great movie. Now suddenly it's available
- 14:26Speaker 1: for you to watch at home. Does that make the
- 14:27Speaker 1: experience better for people who are staying at home watching?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Does this sound really enhance that?
- 14:33Speaker 3: I think absolutely, without a doubt, it enhances it. Along
- 14:37Speaker 3: with the so Dolby Autmos and its competitor, DTS DTS's
- 14:43Speaker 3: version of Dolby Utmos is DTS X. Those two are
- 14:48Speaker 3: they're the new audio standards for movies coming out it's
- 14:52Speaker 3: what you're experiencing in theaters themselves. It's tuning the speakers
- 14:57Speaker 3: to truly acoustically fill the space.
- 15:00Speaker 5: So the soundbar.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Traditional sound bars, the ones you know we've had for years,
- 15:03Speaker 3: just had speakers that threw it out the front. Dolby
- 15:07Speaker 3: autmost soundbars throw sound out the front, They throw sound
- 15:10Speaker 3: out the sides, and they actually have speakers in the
- 15:14Speaker 3: top angled up towards the ceiling to throw sound up
- 15:18Speaker 3: and bounce it down. So it's actually using kind of
- 15:21Speaker 3: like the reverb effect to simulate that full surround sound
- 15:25Speaker 3: feel to it.
- 15:26Speaker 1: If you had the satellites, you could put them behind you.
- 15:29Speaker 1: They do satellites now that are wireless, right, does that
- 15:32Speaker 1: take anything away?
- 15:34Speaker 3: No, honestly, there's there's zero delay and if with some
- 15:38Speaker 3: of these TVs. So the way you connect it is
- 15:42Speaker 3: via HDMI to U. For older TVs it's called ARC.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Newer TVs it's called EARC.
- 15:49Speaker 2: ARC is the.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Audio Return channel. The E just stands for enhanced, which
- 15:53Speaker 3: is allowing it to utilize these new sound standards dolly
- 15:57Speaker 3: at moost DTSX, along with features for the TV itself
- 16:01Speaker 3: like variable refresh rates or the New Visual Standard which
- 16:06Speaker 3: is Dolby Vision, providing more robust, more bright and true
- 16:14Speaker 3: depth of color, truer blacks, brighter reds, cooler blues, things
- 16:18Speaker 3: like that. So if you're so, for example, my TV
- 16:22Speaker 3: upstairs is older, it uses ARC. If there is a
- 16:26Speaker 3: mismatch between what you're seeing and what you're hearing, you
- 16:28Speaker 3: can actually go into the app and do what's called
- 16:31Speaker 3: an audio delay setting, so you can either in you
- 16:34Speaker 3: can actually kind of increase it a bit so the
- 16:37Speaker 3: lip sync actually matches.
- 16:38Speaker 5: What you're hearing.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 16:40Speaker 3: And as for the satellites, like I said, with the
- 16:43Speaker 3: Sonos Ear one hundreds, they're wireless, so you just pair
- 16:47Speaker 3: it to that system, put them where you want, and boom,
- 16:50Speaker 3: now you've got true surround sound if that's what you're
- 16:52Speaker 3: looking for, which is going to be a little further.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Down the road.
- 16:57Speaker 3: It really, honestly, like when I was sitting there, I
- 16:59Speaker 3: was like this, this almost matches my basement entirely.
- 17:03Speaker 5: This is unreal. And it was for a fraction of
- 17:06Speaker 5: the cost.
- 17:07Speaker 4: When you say a fraction of the cost, I mean, yes,
- 17:08Speaker 4: I'm sure it probably was. But so Nos just you know,
- 17:11Speaker 4: don't get me wrong. Sonos is really really good quality
- 17:14Speaker 4: but top end are extremely expensive. They they are, and
- 17:18Speaker 4: there there was a reason I went this way. We
- 17:21Speaker 4: had a previous soundbar up on that TV when we
- 17:23Speaker 4: first kind of configured that room, and it was just
- 17:27Speaker 4: like a simple visio like two point one, a wireless subwhiffer,
- 17:31Speaker 4: your traditional soundbar that just threw it out the front
- 17:33Speaker 4: and it was.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Plugged in via the optical cable.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Well, at one point we were using that room more,
- 17:38Speaker 3: so I was like, well, if we're gonna use this more,
- 17:39Speaker 3: I want to enjoy it more.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Like, yes, we have the uber set.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Up downstairs, but sometimes it's like I just want to
- 17:45Speaker 3: sit on this couch and watch something and be done,
- 17:47Speaker 3: food's coming, whatever. So I bought a high Sense Dolby
- 17:53Speaker 3: at Most soundbar with two wireless satellite speakers and a
- 17:56Speaker 3: wireless subwarfer, and I got it on sale. It had
- 17:59Speaker 3: good recommendation, but a couple of days in I started
- 18:03Speaker 3: to notice an issue with it where we'd be watching
- 18:05Speaker 3: something and the display on the front of the soundbar
- 18:08Speaker 3: would display software cleared. And it turns out that that's
- 18:11Speaker 3: aknown issue and there's no fix right now. High Sense
- 18:15Speaker 3: isn't doing anything for it. There's no firmware update, there's
- 18:18Speaker 3: no way to fix it. And what happens when that
- 18:21Speaker 3: software is cleared is it deletes the pairing with those
- 18:25Speaker 3: rear satellite speakers and the sub wiffer. So you've got
- 18:29Speaker 3: this great sound and then all of a sudden it
- 18:31Speaker 3: gets really really tinny and you have to go back
- 18:34Speaker 3: and manually put all those speakers back into pairing, manually
- 18:38Speaker 3: put the subwiffer back into pairing mode. And sometimes it'd
- 18:40Speaker 3: be like, okay, I'm gonna pair.
- 18:41Speaker 2: With the subwiffer. The subwoffer is good.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I'm like, what about the satellite speakers now they said
- 18:46Speaker 3: some things. I don't want to talk to them right now,
- 18:48Speaker 3: so I'd have to go through the whole process again.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Oh wow, my record was doing it four times because
- 18:53Speaker 3: I paired it and it was like, all right, I
- 18:55Speaker 3: got the subwiffer and the left satellite speaker.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I'm like, we're not there yet.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Do it again, satellite speaker on the right and the
- 19:01Speaker 3: cub wuffer. I'm like, we're not there.
- 19:03Speaker 5: All right, how about both satellite speakers.
- 19:05Speaker 3: And not the subwarffer. I'm like, dude, this is not
- 19:08Speaker 3: a negotiation. I am going to yeet you into the
- 19:11Speaker 3: wall unless you.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Work this time.
- 19:13Speaker 3: So when I was talking to my wife about replacing it,
- 19:15Speaker 3: she was like, if you're going to replace it, replace
- 19:17Speaker 3: it with something that works that's not going to frustrate
- 19:20Speaker 3: you so we can actually enjoy it and that's going
- 19:22Speaker 3: to last for like five to ten years. Like, well,
- 19:25Speaker 3: I know what brand I'm going to. And yes, it
- 19:28Speaker 3: was expense to the Subwiffer plus the soundbar together is
- 19:32Speaker 3: to be honest, it's around sixteen hundred dollars. I was
- 19:35Speaker 3: able to do that right now because I traded in
- 19:38Speaker 3: enough stuff to basically.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Get the cell buffer for free.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 19:42Speaker 5: The thing is like anything else with tech, you get
- 19:45Speaker 5: what you pay for because.
- 19:46Speaker 3: The high sense I got it for two hundred and
- 19:48Speaker 3: twenty bucks and I was like, adobey Atmos soundbar for
- 19:50Speaker 3: two twenty sign me up.
- 19:52Speaker 1: No, No, it doesn't sound like it was a good deal.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I'm wondering. Okay, So quick question. You watch Tropic Thunder.
- 20:01Speaker 1: What is the best movie to watch with a great
- 20:04Speaker 1: sound system at home? Because I have one that's one
- 20:07Speaker 1: of my favorites.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Justin, says top Gun. I'm gonna say Dune Part one
- 20:11Speaker 3: or Dune Part two.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Okay, I have seen either of those. Oh, you're breaking
- 20:16Speaker 1: my heart, Andy, I saw the original. The original was sting.
- 20:20Speaker 2: You know you've not seen Top Gun.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Oh I've seen Top Gun. No, I haven't seen any
- 20:24Speaker 1: of the.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I was about to just be like, you know what,
- 20:26Speaker 2: I'm done. I'm out.
- 20:28Speaker 3: We would both quit right there, just be like, well, kids,
- 20:31Speaker 3: this show's rapping.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Early one.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I liked Raiders the last art. That's a classic. Oh
- 20:37Speaker 1: that's a great movie.
- 20:38Speaker 2: With John Williams soundtrack in the background.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So good.
- 20:41Speaker 3: The thing about Dune Dune two is Dune Part one
- 20:46Speaker 3: and Part two are both phenomenal movies there. I have
- 20:50Speaker 3: my issues with some deviation from the source material, but
- 20:53Speaker 3: I'm a purist. But the sound matches the visual scope
- 20:59Speaker 3: of that movie, which I think was really important. There's
- 21:01Speaker 3: this one great scene in the almost like really early
- 21:06Speaker 3: in Dune part one where you see the Guild Trade
- 21:09Speaker 3: starship way up in orbit around planet Kaladan, which is
- 21:14Speaker 3: home of our protagonist Paula Trds.
- 21:17Speaker 5: There's this big hollow tube and you see this EIGHTYBT
- 21:20Speaker 5: little white dot come out of it. And then the
- 21:23Speaker 5: next scene we are on Caladan and we see this
- 21:25Speaker 5: little white dot landing, and that white dot is bigger
- 21:29Speaker 5: than a house man.
- 21:31Speaker 3: And you see this thing landing and like the base
- 21:34Speaker 3: is shaking the room, the music is swelling, and it
- 21:39Speaker 3: just provides this amazing sense of scope.
- 21:43Speaker 5: You are meant.
- 21:43Speaker 3: The shot is meant to make you feel small. It
- 21:48Speaker 3: is made to make you realize that there is a
- 21:51Speaker 3: scope and magnitude in this universe that our brains cannot
- 21:55Speaker 3: comprehend yet. And the music and the sound matching that
- 21:59Speaker 3: is us a chef's kiss. If you really want to
- 22:04Speaker 3: kick in his sound system and be like, all right,
- 22:06Speaker 3: let's see what this has got. Put in Dune part one,
- 22:09Speaker 3: put in Dune part two, crank it up too. They're
- 22:11Speaker 3: summoning a soundworm with something called a thumper, and the
- 22:16Speaker 3: bass it like when you the thumper hits and you
- 22:18Speaker 3: feel the base, You feel that bass in your chest.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Do you think maybe you could enhance a Hallmark movie?
- 22:27Speaker 2: That I can get a little bit.
- 22:31Speaker 3: The only thing that could enhance a Hallmark movie is
- 22:34Speaker 3: a flamethrower to burn the Hallmark movie down. Yeah, oh, indeed,
- 22:40Speaker 3: you've been down this road before. Please don't make me
- 22:43Speaker 3: pull out the heavy flamer and take you apart.
- 22:46Speaker 1: All right listen, we're gonna take another quick break. We'll
- 22:49Speaker 1: come back coming up in just a bit. I want
- 22:51Speaker 1: to talk about Justin's setup. He's changed something. If you've
- 22:54Speaker 1: been watching the video, you've noticed it. We're gonna talk
- 22:56Speaker 1: about how we did that. You did the same thing
- 22:58Speaker 1: pretty much, Matt, and I think a lot more people
- 23:01Speaker 1: are going to be doing that. Make your home a theater.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Why not. We'll be back with more of tech talk Radio.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm Justin.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Let me find us on Facebook at facebook dot com
- 23:11Speaker 4: for slash tech Talkers.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Will be right back and now back to tech talk Radio.
- 23:17Speaker 4: So I also took on a project, you know, over
- 23:19Speaker 4: the holidays. I had a white elephant gift exchange and
- 23:22Speaker 4: I ended up winning a professional quality dart board. I
- 23:26Speaker 4: think I talked about that one of the shows. Yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 4: it's a bristle board dart board with you know, steel tips,
- 23:31Speaker 4: and I put it back in the corner over there.
- 23:33Speaker 4: But with that position where it's at, it was really
- 23:37Speaker 4: close to my old Kasa TPI Kasa led lights and
- 23:42Speaker 4: the Japanese lamp that we had. And Lisa was like,
- 23:44Speaker 4: I really don't like this, and I'm like, you know,
- 23:46Speaker 4: this gives me an idea.
- 23:48Speaker 2: So I.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Went out and I actually purchased the whole setup, the
- 23:53Speaker 4: go V TV LED lights. So there's LEDs all around
- 23:57Speaker 4: the back of the television and then what they call it,
- 24:00Speaker 4: I think it's called dream theater, right, and you can
- 24:04Speaker 4: connect other lights. So I bought these little LED lamps
- 24:08Speaker 4: sit off to the side of the television and they
- 24:10Speaker 4: also connect to the GOV LED lights on the back
- 24:13Speaker 4: of the TV. Now you're probably wondering, how does the TV.
- 24:16Speaker 4: How do the LEDs know what's on the television To
- 24:19Speaker 4: change the light on the top of the television.
- 24:21Speaker 2: There's a little camera that sits on top of the
- 24:24Speaker 2: television and looks down at the screen. Oh wow.
- 24:27Speaker 4: And then you calibrate it and you tell it where
- 24:29Speaker 4: the positions are of the screen, so then it knows
- 24:32Speaker 4: when and where to change the LEDs. Not only do
- 24:36Speaker 4: I have the behind the TV LEDs and the side lamps,
- 24:40Speaker 4: I've also got two new LED lamps that are going
- 24:44Speaker 4: to be coming in that I'm going to put on
- 24:46Speaker 4: the back walls that are also going to connect to
- 24:49Speaker 4: dream theaters.
- 24:49Speaker 2: So basically the.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Entire room will change color with what's based on the television.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So now you're watching and say you're watching a movie
- 24:58Speaker 1: and the scene is darkness and it's like, you know,
- 25:02Speaker 1: like Predator or something like that, Right, sure the colors
- 25:05Speaker 1: will kind of correspond.
- 25:06Speaker 2: But yeah, if it's.
- 25:08Speaker 4: A dark scene where it's like basically black on the television,
- 25:12Speaker 4: the lights will actually dim all the way down to
- 25:14Speaker 4: a very very fine white dim just kind of more
- 25:17Speaker 4: of like a background filler kind of thing. But it's
- 25:21Speaker 4: very it's very very small. And then it doesn't matter
- 25:26Speaker 4: if there's fast action on.
- 25:27Speaker 2: The screen or what.
- 25:28Speaker 4: This thing keeps up within I want to say, it's
- 25:30Speaker 4: it's probably it's probably within about twenty to thirty milliseconds.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So it doesn't detract from what you're seeing. I mean,
- 25:38Speaker 1: I would think, like you're watching a movie, maybe it
- 25:40Speaker 1: would be detracting, but it's not.
- 25:41Speaker 4: The first like five or ten minutes or so of
- 25:43Speaker 4: watching something, I was kind of like, wow, this is different,
- 25:46Speaker 4: like you know, but once you get once you get
- 25:48Speaker 4: into it, it is just absolutely perfect and it really
- 25:51Speaker 4: enhances the overall theater experience. I would say, you don't
- 25:57Speaker 4: get this in a in a regular movie theater. You know,
- 25:59Speaker 4: they they they just turn off the lights. You know,
- 26:02Speaker 4: you don't get all the extra I like to keep
- 26:04Speaker 4: our room dim for movies. But then Misa, she's like, hey,
- 26:08Speaker 4: it's too dark in here, so to have this extra
- 26:11Speaker 4: led behind it adds extra light to the room. And
- 26:15Speaker 4: now she's totally cool with having the lights off.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Say you're watching Ocean's eleven, which takes place in Las Vegas,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and I think they're working on a brand new one
- 26:24Speaker 1: as well. But when the Vegas lights come up, do
- 26:28Speaker 1: the lights kind of on your your gov kind of
- 26:30Speaker 1: correspond to that absolutely.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Like if if you're looking at like the Billaggio on
- 26:35Speaker 4: the left side of the screen, the left side of
- 26:37Speaker 4: the TV, and this left lamp will start flickering and
- 26:40Speaker 4: doing stuff and then versus the right whatever, it'll it'll
- 26:43Speaker 4: match exactly what's on the screen.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Oh that is so cool. Now, Matt, you did something similar,
- 26:49Speaker 1: and it was around about the same time that Justin
- 26:51Speaker 1: was doing his.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I I did so kind of What also led to
- 26:54Speaker 3: replacing the sound bar is I was visiting my parents
- 26:58Speaker 3: for the holiday for Christmas, and you know, my first
- 27:02Speaker 3: stay there, my dad was like, Hey, we're looking at
- 27:05Speaker 3: replacing the TV in the soundbar. Would you mind going
- 27:07Speaker 3: shopping with me and show me what I need to get?
- 27:09Speaker 3: It's like, sure, are you sticking about the same size?
- 27:11Speaker 3: And he was like, yeah, like a sixty five inch
- 27:14Speaker 3: TV because I have an old school, like big old
- 27:16Speaker 3: hutch style entertainment center, which limits the size of the
- 27:19Speaker 3: TV that can get well. In my experience and talking
- 27:23Speaker 3: to people who are much smarter in the av side
- 27:26Speaker 3: of things than I am, I've always been told if
- 27:29Speaker 3: you're going to go sixty five inch bigger, if you're
- 27:30Speaker 3: going to do a big panel, you go Sony. So
- 27:34Speaker 3: my dad and I went to Best Buy and we
- 27:36Speaker 3: got them a Sony Bravia eight OLED TV and we
- 27:42Speaker 3: got the whole thing set up. And before I had
- 27:44Speaker 3: just like a dumb set of led lights on the
- 27:47Speaker 3: back of the TV that I showed my parents back
- 27:49Speaker 3: when we lived in the same state, and I would
- 27:51Speaker 3: just like cycle through the rainbow colors. So we get
- 27:54Speaker 3: everything set up and my Mom's like, but but what
- 27:56Speaker 3: about my back lights? I liked my pretty lights. So
- 28:00Speaker 3: I went back to the store and I was talking
- 28:02Speaker 3: to the dude there and he recommended the Govi's as well,
- 28:06Speaker 3: because they go VI's and they had Nano leaf, and
- 28:08Speaker 3: there's also Phillips Hugh that has this as well. Go
- 28:11Speaker 3: V and Phillips both have a solution which is an
- 28:15Speaker 3: AI sink box, which is where I talked earlier about
- 28:18Speaker 3: the ARC the audio return. It carries audio and visual
- 28:22Speaker 3: data because it's an HDMI. You plug the cable into
- 28:26Speaker 3: this little box and then the box can go other
- 28:29Speaker 3: places and that reads the data from the video and
- 28:33Speaker 3: changes the lights that way. And he was like, honestly,
- 28:35Speaker 3: I've done the camera. I've done the sinkbox. I will
- 28:38Speaker 3: always do the camera. It never fails. Yeah, the camera
- 28:41Speaker 3: is so much better. So we picked that up onent
- 28:44Speaker 3: to my parents. I set the whole thing up and
- 28:46Speaker 3: we broke it in with the movie Red One.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Oh we watched that.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Whoa, we watched that and that movie. I'll be honest, like,
- 28:54Speaker 3: it's not going to win any awards, but man.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Is it a fun watch? Oh yeah, it's just fun.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And I'm watching this where, like you know, we're in
- 29:02Speaker 3: the North Pole, their lights twinkling everywhere, and I see
- 29:05Speaker 3: the TV doing the same thing, and I was like, ah, man,
- 29:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to buy that when I go home.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So I did you know, I loved how it looked,
- 29:13Speaker 3: and when we got home, I was like, I'm I'm
- 29:15Speaker 3: just gonna do it. I got a hundred dollars Amazon
- 29:16Speaker 3: gift card. I'm going to pick it up. And it's
- 29:19Speaker 3: the same thing Justin was saying we had to have
- 29:21Speaker 3: because my wife likes a little bit of light too,
- 29:24Speaker 3: and we would have a floor lamp on behind us
- 29:26Speaker 3: on low whenever watching a movie and there's always.
- 29:29Speaker 5: A bit of a reflection.
- 29:30Speaker 3: But these LEDs with the GOV are so bright that
- 29:33Speaker 3: it lit up part of the room to where she
- 29:35Speaker 3: was like, Oh, we can turn off the lamp. I
- 29:36Speaker 3: don't need it, which was great because the GOV camera
- 29:40Speaker 3: was picking up the reflection of the lamp and like
- 29:43Speaker 3: the bottom right hand of the screen was just always
- 29:46Speaker 3: orange LEDs.
- 29:47Speaker 5: She was like, is it broken? What's it doing?
- 29:49Speaker 3: And when I turned off the lamp and it started working,
- 29:51Speaker 3: we were both just like, oh, so the camera's like
- 29:54Speaker 3: really good.
- 29:56Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, got it.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Oh that is great.
- 29:59Speaker 3: But looping back for one second, the other cool thing
- 30:01Speaker 3: I discovered with the new Sony Bravia's so Sony. I
- 30:04Speaker 3: didn't know this until I was actually talking to the
- 30:06Speaker 3: home theater guy Sony because they provide a lot of
- 30:09Speaker 3: the film cameras that are used to record the movies.
- 30:13Speaker 3: They have patented three colors of They have patented Sony red,
- 30:19Speaker 3: Sony blue, and Sony Green, so those colors are used
- 30:25Speaker 3: exclusively in the Sony cameras and they're now also used
- 30:28Speaker 3: in the Sony Bravia pixels, so you get the truest
- 30:32Speaker 3: representation of what was recorded. And they've also partnered with
- 30:36Speaker 3: Netflix Prime Video and I don't remember who the third is,
- 30:41Speaker 3: but when it detects you launch that app on the TV,
- 30:45Speaker 3: it changes the color tuning to a pre set and
- 30:49Speaker 3: it'll be like Prime Video preset, Netflix Video pre set,
- 30:53Speaker 3: so the colors in the tuning and everything are as
- 30:56Speaker 3: intended by those streaming services, so.
- 31:00Speaker 5: It's perfectly calibrated.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Oh wow, I thought that.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Was just the coolest thing because I'm always sitting there
- 31:05Speaker 3: fuxing with it, like I got up the back light, now,
- 31:08Speaker 3: I got it down the brightness, Now I got to
- 31:09Speaker 3: mess with the contrast. And this is like, no, man,
- 31:12Speaker 3: you're watching Red One the way we intended.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gotta be what it is. Now, what kind
- 31:16Speaker 1: of investment like you'd mentioned, you know, you had one
- 31:19Speaker 1: hundred dollars gift card. What kind of investment like for
- 31:22Speaker 1: Justin for your setup and then for Matt for what
- 31:26Speaker 1: you did.
- 31:26Speaker 4: Well, Matt and I have the same backlight that just
- 31:29Speaker 4: the LED backlights behind the TV, but I've added, like
- 31:31Speaker 4: I said, the two side lamps and the two rear lamps.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I would say probably three p fifty total.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Oh no, and mine was I think like eighty nine
- 31:42Speaker 1: without the gift card.
- 31:43Speaker 5: No, no, that with the gift card. I didn't spend
- 31:46Speaker 5: a cent.
- 31:46Speaker 3: It was eighty nine bucks on Amazon, but it burned
- 31:49Speaker 3: my gift card.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Oh the way it works. You know, we're speaking about entertainment.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna mention this for this weekend only that this
- 31:58Speaker 1: this show is airing this weekend, the first week of
- 32:01Speaker 1: January twenty twenty five. Apple TV plus is doing a
- 32:04Speaker 1: free weekend and you could stream Apple TV's library of
- 32:09Speaker 1: their series films that are available on the Apple platform
- 32:13Speaker 1: for free. And they're doing this. They started yesterday and
- 32:15Speaker 1: this is running through the fifth to tomorrow free on
- 32:19Speaker 1: a device where Apple TV is available. All you need
- 32:22Speaker 1: is the is the app of course, and an Apple ID.
- 32:26Speaker 1: So if you guys want to try that, I don't
- 32:28Speaker 1: know how that platform I don't have Apple TV, how
- 32:32Speaker 1: that platform fares compared to Netflix or Hulu I mean
- 32:36Speaker 1: really well.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Or Paramount.
- 32:38Speaker 1: What would be the best platform out there?
- 32:41Speaker 5: Oh that's a hard question.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Yeah, because you've got Paramount holds all of their stuff,
- 32:48Speaker 3: Hulu holds when they got fully bought out by Disney
- 32:52Speaker 3: and integrated.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Hulu holds well, honestly.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Disney Plus now also has the Hulu Library, and they've
- 32:59Speaker 3: got all twentieth century Foxes stuff because they got bought
- 33:03Speaker 3: out there. Netflix has a whole bunch of stuff. Prime
- 33:08Speaker 3: Video has you know, all the Prime originals and their stuff.
- 33:13Speaker 3: And then you've got Apple TV, which has their proprietary
- 33:16Speaker 3: things and they're starting to buy the rights to more things.
- 33:19Speaker 3: But I mean Apple TV has they have Asimov's Foundation
- 33:24Speaker 3: series is going right now. They've got ted Lasso, which
- 33:28Speaker 3: is coming back for a new season. Ted Lao is
- 33:33Speaker 3: just like a warm blanket. Man.
- 33:34Speaker 5: It's just happy. There's no drama for drama's sake. It's
- 33:39Speaker 5: just good. The other two that.
- 33:42Speaker 3: My my wife really loves the show Severance, which is
- 33:44Speaker 3: a complete mind bender. That show is just wild. And
- 33:50Speaker 3: then the one I've started to get into is Silo,
- 33:53Speaker 3: which is some of the best sci fi I've.
- 33:56Speaker 5: Seen in a while.
- 33:57Speaker 3: And Asimov's Foundations is called Asmov's Foundation because it's based
- 34:00Speaker 3: on Isaac Asimov's Foundation's book series, which is like a
- 34:06Speaker 3: collapsing galactic empire.
- 34:09Speaker 5: And that show is just money.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It is so good. Now, I'm wondering with the lighting
- 34:15Speaker 1: setup that you have with the go vis for both
- 34:17Speaker 1: of you guys, do you do console gaming on your
- 34:20Speaker 1: big screen TVs like you know Xbotta yet Yeah, I'm
- 34:24Speaker 1: wondering how that would how that would affect it doesn't.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Same, It's the same thing I was playing.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Uh.
- 34:31Speaker 3: It actually won Game of the Year this year Astrobot
- 34:34Speaker 3: on PS five and I was playing that and it
- 34:38Speaker 3: was matching the same colors.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's cool.
- 34:41Speaker 4: The cameras camera doesn't care what you're playing or what
- 34:44Speaker 4: you have on the TV. It's looking at the television
- 34:46Speaker 4: and determining what colors to display, so it doesn't matter
- 34:49Speaker 4: what you're watching.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Does the same go with the sound and when you're
- 34:52Speaker 1: playing a game, like for the sound bar situation sound
- 34:55Speaker 1: bar setups like if you want to play you know,
- 34:57Speaker 1: a Final Fantasy or even all out mode, you can
- 35:01Speaker 1: put it in music mode, it'll be just as good.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yep.
- 35:04Speaker 3: For the soundbar, I don't have to change a thing
- 35:07Speaker 3: because the audio return channel, so the sound comes from
- 35:12Speaker 3: my PlayStation through the HDMI to the TV, and then
- 35:15Speaker 3: the TV pumps that audio signal through the audio return
- 35:18Speaker 3: channel to the soundbar.
- 35:19Speaker 5: I don't have to change anything. I was actually playing
- 35:24Speaker 5: Black Ops six partially to test it out.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And check that, and I heard the guy coming up
- 35:29Speaker 3: behind me right before he stabbed me.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Oh.
- 35:33Speaker 5: I was like, I hear footsteps.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Ah, that would be why I'm dead now. Congratulations, but
- 35:39Speaker 1: thank you for helping me test that feature.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well we know it works.
- 35:42Speaker 1: All right. We want to know what is the difference
- 35:44Speaker 1: as people look into twenty twenty five, for you know,
- 35:47Speaker 1: a whole year ahead between past key and a password,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and Matt, you kind of can give us a little
- 35:53Speaker 1: breakdown on that. Gladly, all right, we'll be back with
- 35:56Speaker 1: more of tech Talk Radio.
- 35:57Speaker 4: I'm Ady Taylor, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm just let
- 36:00Speaker 4: me send us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 36:03Speaker 2: We'll be right back now back to tech talk Radio. Hey,
- 36:06Speaker 2: what's up. This is Tom Arnold and you're listening to
- 36:09Speaker 2: tech Talk radio. They're really great and I love them. Hey,
- 36:13Speaker 2: how about a copy of Windows? Can I get a laptop?
- 36:17Speaker 3: Pass keys versus passwords? The question that it has been
- 36:21Speaker 3: plaguing many people. We'll start with what a password is.
- 36:24Speaker 3: A password has not changed since they were invented, since
- 36:28Speaker 3: it was knock on the door and give me the
- 36:29Speaker 3: secret password to come in.
- 36:31Speaker 5: The password is chosen by the user.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Typically it's numbers, letters, uppercase, slowercase symbols, and that's it.
- 36:40Speaker 3: That's how you're identified. Your password is stored somewhere in
- 36:45Speaker 3: relation to your user account. Passwords are not as secure.
- 36:49Speaker 3: They're vulnerable to things like dictionary attacks, phishing, credential stuffing,
- 36:56Speaker 3: brute force attacks. There are ways to get in there
- 37:01Speaker 3: and crack it, fishing being one of the easiest ones nowadays.
- 37:05Speaker 3: You know, somebody calls you, Hey, I'm for Microsoft Tech Support.
- 37:07Speaker 3: There's something wrong with your computer, give me your password,
- 37:09Speaker 3: let me help you. Key logging is another one, Rainbow tables.
- 37:13Speaker 3: These have been around so long we could spend an
- 37:16Speaker 3: entire show just rattling off ways to steal a password.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Past keys are something that are vastly different now. The
- 37:24Speaker 3: past keys the full literal definition is a cryptographic key
- 37:29Speaker 3: authentication method that eliminates the needs for passwords by using
- 37:33Speaker 3: what are called private public key pairs. Now, to explain
- 37:37Speaker 3: that last part is the really important part. A private
- 37:40Speaker 3: and public key pair are two things that work together.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Your public key is one that you can give out.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Your private key only stays with you. You never give out
- 37:49Speaker 3: your private key. So when you go to authenticate, somebody
- 37:53Speaker 3: comes in with your public key and says, okay, hey,
- 37:56Speaker 3: here's your public key. Does it match your private key?
- 37:59Speaker 2: Yes? It does.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Okay, Now you can come in pass keys. That's what
- 38:05Speaker 3: they are, and they're stored and tied to a specific device.
- 38:10Speaker 3: On computers, it's something called a TPM, a trusted platform module.
- 38:15Speaker 3: On mobile devices it's usually oh, what is.
- 38:20Speaker 5: It called a secure enclave.
- 38:23Speaker 3: So when you log into a site and it's like, hey,
- 38:25Speaker 3: would you like to store this with a pass key,
- 38:27Speaker 3: we'll use a mobile phone for example, Hey, instead of
- 38:30Speaker 3: a password, would you like to set up a pass key?
- 38:32Speaker 3: I had that when I logged into the Lows app
- 38:33Speaker 3: the other day to add my Low's gift card because
- 38:36Speaker 3: I want more power tools.
- 38:38Speaker 5: I'm not sure I should be allowed.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Them, but I want them, right, and it says, hey,
- 38:42Speaker 3: set up a passkey, and I'm like cool, It's like,
- 38:44Speaker 3: all right, put your thumb on the thumb print reader,
- 38:47Speaker 3: and I do, and that creates a pass key tied
- 38:52Speaker 3: to that device. I can't use it on my computer.
- 38:55Speaker 3: I can't use it on a Mac or somebody else's phone.
- 38:58Speaker 3: It is tied to that specific device. So when I
- 39:00Speaker 3: go to log in, it's like, hey, give me your
- 39:02Speaker 3: pass key, and I use my thumb print. It can
- 39:05Speaker 3: be your thumb print, it can be with Apple, it can.
- 39:08Speaker 5: Be your face ID.
- 39:10Speaker 4: What happens then if you're like, you've created a pass
- 39:12Speaker 4: key for a website and you've done the past key
- 39:16Speaker 4: on your phone. But let's say you're on your computer
- 39:19Speaker 4: and it's telling you to log in with your pass key,
- 39:22Speaker 4: and I'm like, well, I don't have a pass key
- 39:23Speaker 4: because I don't have a thumbprint reader on my desktop computer.
- 39:27Speaker 2: How does that work?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Then usually underneath that is I don't have that as
- 39:31Speaker 3: a link that says I don't have the passkey or
- 39:33Speaker 3: log in with password.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Maybe it'll coordinate with your smartphone then then you would
- 39:37Speaker 1: log in from there.
- 39:38Speaker 3: You're seeing that more with more devices, for example, like
- 39:42Speaker 3: say you're logging in your Apple ID somewhere else. It's like, okay,
- 39:45Speaker 3: pushing to your trusted device, right, and then you'll go
- 39:48Speaker 3: to your trusted device and approve the log in that's
- 39:50Speaker 3: using your passkey.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Kind of like the authenticator does with Microsoft.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Microsoft Authenticator Duo Octa RSA. That's that's really all it is,
- 40:00Speaker 3: is just moving and it's funny. I was talking to
- 40:03Speaker 3: somebody about this. God, it had to be like a
- 40:06Speaker 3: decade ago. I was like, I'm telling you, at some point,
- 40:10Speaker 3: passwords are going to go away, and you're gonna have
- 40:13Speaker 3: certificates tied to your account, and your certificates are going
- 40:16Speaker 3: to be how you log in and identify yourself. And
- 40:18Speaker 3: here we are ten years later. I'm a tech profit apparently,
- 40:24Speaker 3: because ten years later, that's what pass keys are. They
- 40:26Speaker 3: are just a pair of certificates which are much much
- 40:30Speaker 3: more secure. You can't brute force a pass key, you
- 40:33Speaker 3: can't key log a pass key, but there's no real
- 40:36Speaker 3: way to get that because inside of secure enclaves, inside
- 40:42Speaker 3: of TPM chips, that's all encrypted.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Now I have a product from Ubiki which is basically
- 40:47Speaker 1: a hardware key, and I love it because again, it
- 40:51Speaker 1: could work hardware. It's probably for the best type of connection.
- 40:56Speaker 1: I think we're going to see more of that as
- 40:59Speaker 1: a part of couters. We've seen it as part of
- 41:01Speaker 1: laptops where you have a biometric reader available on those,
- 41:05Speaker 1: So maybe we'll see that. Maybe the Norman twenty twenty five.
- 41:09Speaker 3: And ubkeys also fall on that list of something that's
- 41:12Speaker 3: for a trusted platform. It stores it in the memory
- 41:17Speaker 3: of that little ubike. I know ubi key is coming
- 41:20Speaker 3: in old school USBA. It's also coming in USBC now,
- 41:24Speaker 3: so if you do USBC, most laptops have USBC ports.
- 41:28Speaker 3: PCs are now coming with USB sports. You could just
- 41:31Speaker 3: do that. You can plug it in your phone, dink,
- 41:33Speaker 3: They're okay, take it to your computer, plug it in
- 41:35Speaker 3: because it's stored on that device.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Great stuff, great explanation of that. So I got to
- 41:41Speaker 1: tell you something bad that happened to me, and I
- 41:43Speaker 1: am guilty of preaching but not following the word did
- 41:49Speaker 1: you do well? So I have on my desktop, you know,
- 41:52Speaker 1: I have a two terabyte installed in my system, and
- 41:56Speaker 1: on the desktop I have a Western Digital my book
- 42:00Speaker 1: which was eight terabytes, and then I have a Seagate
- 42:05Speaker 1: desktop hub, also eight terabytes. And a project that I had.
- 42:10Speaker 1: It was around about August of this year or last year,
- 42:14Speaker 1: I should say now, was taking everything from the Western
- 42:17Speaker 1: Digital my book and organizing it and putting it onto
- 42:21Speaker 1: the desktop hub and I put it in nice order.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Got photos, I've got document I've got stuff from the
- 42:29Speaker 1: early days of my radio career, audio all the tech
- 42:33Speaker 1: talk radio shows from nineteen ninety five. And the other
- 42:40Speaker 1: day I'm at the computer and I hear and remember
- 42:43Speaker 1: I deleted everything off of my book once I moved
- 42:46Speaker 1: it over, and I'm hearing like a squirrely sound, no,
- 42:51Speaker 1: like squirrely, not clicking, but squirrely. And I remember looking
- 42:55Speaker 1: at the drive, going huh, I wonder what that is.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And the next day I go to use it and
- 43:01Speaker 1: I see the drive light up and then the drive
- 43:04Speaker 1: light goes away. I'm like, what the heck is that?
- 43:06Speaker 1: So I plug it to unplug it, plug it back
- 43:08Speaker 1: in same thing, and I realized, oh no, I think
- 43:13Speaker 1: my drive has just failed. So I went ahead and
- 43:15Speaker 1: I took it out of the enclosure. You know case
- 43:18Speaker 1: it's just the power supply that's in the enclosure, and
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know, got the archive drive, plugged it into a
- 43:25Speaker 1: couple of cases I have for testing it out, get
- 43:30Speaker 1: nothing out of it. Don't. The squirrely sound is gone,
- 43:34Speaker 1: nothing at all, So I think I may have I
- 43:38Speaker 1: may have lost. Now the good news is the drives
- 43:41Speaker 1: that I have. I had just recently bought myself a
- 43:45Speaker 1: sand Disc Extreme portable drive that came with their their
- 43:50Speaker 1: software for recovering, and I've been using that. But the
- 43:55Speaker 1: Western Digital my book would crash about sixty seven percent
- 43:58Speaker 1: in so my book is so I can't recover stuff
- 44:02Speaker 1: off there. I have drives everywhere, but it was all organized,
- 44:06Speaker 1: and I'm hoping I didn't lose everything. Make the backups
- 44:10Speaker 1: and be redundant. Don't just have one backup, have two.
- 44:14Speaker 1: If I would have had to, i'd be safe and
- 44:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't be admitting my failure of my hard drive failure.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But it can happen.
- 44:22Speaker 5: I'm sorry, buddy.
- 44:23Speaker 2: That sucks.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Now we do have a question for this week's show.
- 44:28Speaker 1: We got actually a couple of questions. I don't know
- 44:29Speaker 1: if we're gonna be able to get to all of them,
- 44:32Speaker 1: but here's one. I said. I'm looking for a printer
- 44:35Speaker 1: I could carry with my laptop bag. I just need
- 44:38Speaker 1: to be able to print out work orders. Everything is
- 44:41Speaker 1: so big though, any solutions And this is from Salwarita.
- 44:47Speaker 1: So boy, I don't know carrying a printer. I would
- 44:52Speaker 1: just do the work orders before you leave, wouldn't you.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't.
- 44:56Speaker 4: I don't even know of anything like that that you
- 44:59Speaker 4: can carry off a portable printer. I mean, yeah, are
- 45:04Speaker 4: big by design.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean I know that Canon Cannon has the Pisma
- 45:09Speaker 1: Prisma I think is what it's called her Pixma that's
- 45:12Speaker 1: supposed to be pretty good, but again it's not. You're
- 45:15Speaker 1: gonna not gonna put her in a laptop bag. Maybe
- 45:17Speaker 1: you put in a box you carry in your car,
- 45:20Speaker 1: but you don't want to leave stuff in your car
- 45:22Speaker 1: because the ink's gonna get all messed up. I just
- 45:25Speaker 1: I don't know what would be the best of this situation.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Looking at this first off, I'd like to say for
- 45:31Speaker 3: every it person that listens to this, printers are have
- 45:35Speaker 3: been and will continue to be the devil. PC mag
- 45:42Speaker 3: actually has an article that came out just last month,
- 45:46Speaker 3: the best portable printers for twenty twenty five, the one
- 45:49Speaker 3: you just mentioned. The Canon Pixma t R one fifty
- 45:53Speaker 3: is the best general use ink Jet portable printer.
- 45:55Speaker 5: It's a wireless portable in cool.
- 45:58Speaker 3: It's chunky. But then further down, this one's costly. This
- 46:04Speaker 3: is coming in at about five hundred and twenty bucks.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Is the brother pocket jet PJ eight eight three, and
- 46:12Speaker 3: it is a portable thermal printer. Now, thermal printers is
- 46:17Speaker 3: what that that's receipt paper basically, but it's it looks
- 46:21Speaker 3: like it's full sized paper.
- 46:25Speaker 5: But this thing is it is tiny. It is not
- 46:29Speaker 5: big at all.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Looks like it's about an inch and a half maybe
- 46:32Speaker 3: two inches high, three four inches deep and then maybe
- 46:38Speaker 3: a foot wide, like and it's this.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Thermal pretty decent laptop bag, but maybe.
- 46:45Speaker 3: And it says thermal paper eliminates any need for ink
- 46:48Speaker 3: prints via USB Wi Fi Wi Fi direct in Bluetooth,
- 46:51Speaker 3: surprisingly good output quality, smaller and lighter than mobile ink jets.
- 46:54Speaker 3: The downsides are it's pricey five hundred bucks no duh.
- 46:58Speaker 5: And uh monochrome p only.
- 47:00Speaker 3: But if you're just printing work orders and you don't
- 47:02Speaker 3: need color, like that could work.
- 47:04Speaker 1: All right. Here's another solution. So I was just thinking
- 47:07Speaker 1: about this. What if you had an iPad or you know,
- 47:11Speaker 1: Android tablet, right, you got a tablet or an iPad
- 47:15Speaker 1: and you have your forms like Adobe Acrobat. You could
- 47:19Speaker 1: then customize the forms right there on your tablet while
- 47:22Speaker 1: you're with the customer and then email them to him
- 47:26Speaker 1: or her as a PDF, and then they could print
- 47:29Speaker 1: it out. I couldn't that wouldn't that work as well?
- 47:32Speaker 1: I mean that's an that's an option.
- 47:34Speaker 3: I mean, if if we're set on, you know, having
- 47:38Speaker 3: the physical work order, that's that's definitely an option. I've
- 47:42Speaker 3: I've done stuff like I had a plumber out to
- 47:45Speaker 3: replace my garbage disposal and all the paperwork was I
- 47:48Speaker 3: signed everything on the iPad, Yeah, and then I got
- 47:51Speaker 3: an emailed finished copy of it, and if I wanted
- 47:54Speaker 3: to print it out, I could do that.
- 47:55Speaker 5: So I mean that's always an option.
- 47:57Speaker 1: All right. Well for Brett who sent us that email,
- 47:59Speaker 1: that's that's a good one. Here's one more, Steve, we
- 48:01Speaker 1: can get this before the break. Hey guys, I found
- 48:04Speaker 1: and listen to you online. So can you guys tell
- 48:08Speaker 1: me which browser should I really be using? There are options,
- 48:11Speaker 1: of course, of Google, Microsoft and the duck Something, which
- 48:15Speaker 1: is the best that's from Rick and Feedix.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I like the duck Something, uh, Firefox and the Duck
- 48:22Speaker 3: something is a search engine instead of Google.
- 48:25Speaker 5: It's called Duck Duck Go.
- 48:26Speaker 3: But I would definitely use Firefox, I mean, Edge, Chrome, Brave,
- 48:32Speaker 3: They're all based on Chromium. They're they're basically the same browser.
- 48:37Speaker 3: The one I would definitely stay away from actually is
- 48:39Speaker 3: the Brave browser. Yes, for security sake, it has a
- 48:43Speaker 3: built in peer to peer element. Uh, and you can't
- 48:47Speaker 3: control the security of that. We actually, in my previous job,
- 48:50Speaker 3: we banned Brave Browser across the entire organization.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Yep, oh wow. All right.
- 48:55Speaker 4: And the thing about Brave is they keep touting that
- 48:57Speaker 4: it's the most secure, the most private.
- 49:00Speaker 2: It's it's really not. It's it's actually really really bad.
- 49:03Speaker 1: All Right, We're gonna take another quick break. We'll be
- 49:04Speaker 1: back for more of tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 49:07Speaker 1: I'm Matt Jones, and I'm Justin. Let me find us
- 49:10Speaker 1: on the web at tech talk radio dot com. We'll
- 49:12Speaker 1: be right back and now fact to tech talk Radio.
- 49:16Speaker 4: So, as we approached the end of the year, a
- 49:18Speaker 4: lot of us have what are known as flexible spending
- 49:21Speaker 4: accounts or health savings accounts.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Basically, you put a portion of your paycheck throughout
- 49:28Speaker 4: the year into this special account and it can be
- 49:30Speaker 4: used for purchases medical related purchases, or sometimes flexible stuff
- 49:36Speaker 4: like childcare or other things. Anyway, I have an FSA
- 49:41Speaker 4: and we were getting to the point where we're getting
- 49:44Speaker 4: to the end of the year, and I had too
- 49:46Speaker 4: much money in the account and it's user or lose it,
- 49:49Speaker 4: like you can only carry over a couple one hundred
- 49:51Speaker 4: dollars into the new year. And so I was like, well,
- 49:56Speaker 4: I have already processed all of my you know, receipts
- 49:59Speaker 4: and every thing, and I still have all this extra money,
- 50:01Speaker 4: and I don't know what's to do with it. So
- 50:03Speaker 4: I went out and bought the Aura ring. Oh that's
- 50:05Speaker 4: what I'm wearing right here, and it's it's a it's
- 50:07Speaker 4: a smart ring. So it's kind of like you know
- 50:10Speaker 4: the Apple Watch or the you know, pixel Watch or
- 50:12Speaker 4: you know, Samsung Galaxy Watch whatever, but the Aura Ring
- 50:15Speaker 4: is a little bit better in terms of it literally
- 50:20Speaker 4: just does that one thing. It just monitors your health,
- 50:24Speaker 4: and it can monitor many many aspects of your health,
- 50:27Speaker 4: not only just your heart rate, but it can monitor
- 50:29Speaker 4: your your your your stress levels, your breathing, your blood oxygen.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Levels, about abnea, does it do that like sleep app Yeah,
- 50:40Speaker 1: I know that's something that Apple watch has.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it can do. It can do sleep apnea.
- 50:43Speaker 4: It monitors your sleep habits, It monitors it tells you,
- 50:46Speaker 4: you know, when to go to bed and you know,
- 50:48Speaker 4: and all that stuff too.
- 50:50Speaker 2: But it does a pretty good job about it.
- 50:51Speaker 4: And this was about I want to say, this was
- 50:54Speaker 4: like I think it was three ninety nine before tax, right,
- 50:57Speaker 4: So it's a little a little bit pricey, but basically
- 50:59Speaker 4: how I do but it is. You go to best Buy.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Best Buy is an authorized retailer. They have a bunch
- 51:05Speaker 4: of like ring sizes that you can try on right there.
- 51:08Speaker 4: They have like a ring sizing kit, so you basically
- 51:11Speaker 4: try it on and they what they tell you to
- 51:12Speaker 4: do is that you tell you to wear it on
- 51:14Speaker 4: your index finger.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Or your middle finger.
- 51:16Speaker 4: You don't want to wear it on your ring finger
- 51:17Speaker 4: or your pinky because there's not a lot of you know,
- 51:19Speaker 4: blood flow into those two fingers versus the first two.
- 51:22Speaker 4: So they say index finger or middle finger. So I
- 51:25Speaker 4: tried the middle finger and I found the size I like,
- 51:28Speaker 4: and then I went ahead and just bought it right
- 51:30Speaker 4: from best Buy. You you can buy it directly from
- 51:33Speaker 4: the website. But if you buy it from the website,
- 51:38Speaker 4: you can use your FSA credit card or debit card.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Excuse me, but since I bought it from best Buy,
- 51:44Speaker 4: I can't use the FSA debit card because they don't
- 51:47Speaker 4: they don't recognize Best Buy as an authorized FSA retailer.
- 51:52Speaker 4: So what I had to do is just submit a
- 51:54Speaker 4: documentation saying this is what I bought, and then they're like, oh, yeah, okay, whatever,
- 51:59Speaker 4: But how do you charge it?
- 52:00Speaker 2: Oh?
- 52:00Speaker 4: It comes with a little charging doc that has the
- 52:05Speaker 4: shape of the inside of the ring, and so you
- 52:07Speaker 4: just set the ring over it and it just it's
- 52:09Speaker 4: kind of like a NFC charging, you know, near middle
- 52:11Speaker 4: communication wireless charging on it. But interesting is I I
- 52:16Speaker 4: did ask the FSA company that I'm with, and I said,
- 52:20Speaker 4: you know, I notice here that you cover the cost
- 52:22Speaker 4: of the ring and you cover the monthly charge because
- 52:27Speaker 4: there is a monthly charge if you want access to
- 52:29Speaker 4: all the features. It's like five ninety nine a month
- 52:31Speaker 4: or something like that. I don't remember exactly, but they
- 52:34Speaker 4: don't cover the yearly. Now this is just my particular,
- 52:37Speaker 4: my particular FSA. But they're like, yeah, I don't make
- 52:40Speaker 4: the rules I don't understand. But if you pay for
- 52:43Speaker 4: the year, you actually get a discount obviously, then then
- 52:46Speaker 4: paying monthly. But it's so weird that my FSA company
- 52:50Speaker 4: will pay for the monthly subscription, but they won't pay
- 52:52Speaker 4: for the yearly subscription, which I you know, whatever, it's
- 52:55Speaker 4: It's just a minor thing. But the Ara ring is
- 52:59Speaker 4: really good. It is waterproof. You can wear it while
- 53:02Speaker 4: you're showering, you can wear it while you're washing your hands.
- 53:05Speaker 4: I do find that it gets a little bit annoying
- 53:08Speaker 4: after I wash my hands because water does get in
- 53:10Speaker 4: between the ring and the skin, and so then I
- 53:13Speaker 4: feel it kind of slips around a little bit, and
- 53:16Speaker 4: then the skin gets really water logged after having water
- 53:19Speaker 4: in it. So I'm always taking the ring off, drying
- 53:22Speaker 4: off my finger, and then putting the ring back on.
- 53:25Speaker 4: But the ring does last about eight days on one
- 53:28Speaker 4: single charge.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Eight days. That's great.
- 53:30Speaker 2: It is really good. Actually.
- 53:32Speaker 4: The only other downside I would say is I don't
- 53:34Speaker 4: necessarily like their app. It seems to be just a
- 53:39Speaker 4: little bit too cluttered. I mean, I came from Fitbit,
- 53:41Speaker 4: you know, I have the Google Pixel Watch. I use
- 53:44Speaker 4: the Fitbit Pro subscription. Fitbit was just easy. It's easy
- 53:49Speaker 4: to understand where you want to go, what you want
- 53:51Speaker 4: to see.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Aura.
- 53:54Speaker 4: It just seems to be filled with a bunch of
- 53:57Speaker 4: like learn more about your sleep habits or click here
- 54:01Speaker 4: to discover how your heart rate. I'm like, I don't
- 54:03Speaker 4: care about all your articles. I just want to see
- 54:06Speaker 4: the data. Yeah, you know, But but I tell you
- 54:08Speaker 4: one thing. Last night, sitting around watching TV, I get
- 54:12Speaker 4: a notification on my phone. It's from Aura and it
- 54:15Speaker 4: says it is time for you to go to bed
- 54:17Speaker 4: right now. And I'm like, well, what does this mean?
- 54:20Speaker 4: Because I normally it would tell me, hey, it's about
- 54:22Speaker 4: time to go to bed. You know, I start winding down.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Last night it said, based on your current heart rate
- 54:28Speaker 4: and your stress level, you need to go to bed
- 54:31Speaker 4: right now. All off the television and go to bed
- 54:34Speaker 4: right now.
- 54:34Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, where can our listeners get more
- 54:37Speaker 1: info on this?
- 54:38Speaker 2: You can, uh, the website. Oh, I don't even know
- 54:42Speaker 2: how to spell it is.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I think the AU is it au r A.
- 54:45Speaker 5: No, it's oh you are A.
- 54:47Speaker 3: So the website is Aura ring. Oh you are a
- 54:51Speaker 3: r I n G dot com All right, cool, all right, And.
- 54:54Speaker 2: You can also go visit a Best Buy and you
- 54:56Speaker 2: can see them there.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Did you go to bed like it told you to?
- 54:59Speaker 2: I did and I feel great.
- 55:01Speaker 4: All right.
