- 0:51with my ipad um but guys
- 0:53man amanda mark trent olive
- 0:57meredith lito jody denise
- 1:01Jake, Ken, Corey, Joseph.
- 1:05Holy cow.
- 1:07You guys, man,
- 1:08loading up the chat already.
- 1:09We just got started.
- 1:12Having a great day here.
- 1:14Last night, coming in loud and jazzy.
- 1:17Thank you so much, Trent Olive,
- 1:20for the feedback.
- 1:25Had a great night last night.
- 1:26My daughter took us to this
- 1:29restaurant where...
- 1:31it really was like straight
- 1:33out of the nineteen seventy two.
- 1:36It was an old hotel that had
- 1:38an attached restaurant and
- 1:40lounge and in the lounge it
- 1:43was called the sip and dip
- 1:45and in the sip and dip they
- 1:49had tanks where they had
- 1:51live mermaids swimming
- 1:54around in these tanks and
- 1:57entertaining everybody and they would
- 2:00they would do these things
- 2:01where they blow a bubble
- 2:02and put a heart on the top
- 2:03of it and it would float to
- 2:04the surface and pretty cool little show.
- 2:07And the decor in there,
- 2:08I don't think has been
- 2:09changed since the nineteen seventies,
- 2:13but really a fun time with
- 2:14her and her friends just
- 2:16kind of sitting back and
- 2:18having some good food and
- 2:21kind of going back in time.
- 2:23So it's been a pretty fun
- 2:24week here in Montana,
- 2:26getting to spend with my daughter
- 2:29It's so much fun.
- 2:30The night before, we went to Singo.
- 2:32I talked about that yesterday.
- 2:33But there was a food truck
- 2:34there that was Korean and
- 2:37Native American fusion.
- 2:40And literally,
- 2:41the two people in the food truck,
- 2:43one was Korean and one was
- 2:45Native American.
- 2:46And they made foods that
- 2:49were a fusion of the two
- 2:50different cultures.
- 2:53And it was amazing.
- 2:56It was amazing.
- 2:58the the care they put into
- 2:59that food was was so good
- 3:02and um yeah it was really
- 3:06cool really cool if you're
- 3:07ever in great falls you got
- 3:08you got to find it it's pretty cool
- 3:11I saw Bruce Wayne is heading
- 3:12to SoCal maybe for Waterpalooza.
- 3:17So jealous.
- 3:19That's got to be a fun time.
- 3:20I know they really build out
- 3:21that beach pretty fun.
- 3:23And hope you have safe
- 3:26travels across the country, Bruce,
- 3:28for that.
- 3:31So, yeah.
- 3:35Corey says,
- 3:35sounds like something Guy Fieri
- 3:37would find.
- 3:38Yeah, we just stumbled on it.
- 3:39My daughter didn't even know about it.
- 3:41It just happened to be at
- 3:42the place where we went to
- 3:43play that music bingo game.
- 4:10This is really rough.
- 4:11Uh,
- 4:40So I'm just going to give it
- 4:41a minute to calm down.
- 4:54But yeah,
- 4:54it's not even letting me share
- 4:57the... Hmm.
- 5:49okay we're gonna try it out
- 5:53here on the porch I have no
- 5:54notes now and nothing to go
- 5:57off of uh but I think I'm
- 6:01out here on the front porch
- 6:04so hopefully are we are we back guys
- 6:13um so yeah so I'll just have
- 6:16to hold the ipad in the air
- 6:18and I will do it from the
- 6:19front porch maybe I get
- 6:22better cell service out
- 6:23here so good I'm back I'm
- 6:26back nice uh denise
- 6:30I'll be lifting at SoCal
- 6:31Waterpalooza Saturday
- 6:32morning at eight a.m.
- 6:33USAW and Tier Waterpalooza
- 6:34SoCal are partnering on a
- 6:36weightlifting meeting structure.
- 6:38Isn't the normal three, three lifts.
- 6:41You just have thirty minutes to lift.
- 6:43Wow, that's interesting.
- 6:44That's really cool.
- 6:48So, yeah, not a green screen, Mark.
- 6:50It is literally me on the
- 6:52front porch of our little
- 6:53bungalow here in Montana.
- 6:56So.
- 6:58Yeah, hopefully it stays quiet.
- 6:59It's a real little neighborhood.
- 7:01So everything is cool here.
- 7:03So Denise, once that's done,
- 7:04you'll have to tell us what
- 7:06that's like to just have
- 7:07thirty minutes open to lift
- 7:09instead of a three by three stand.
- 7:15Jay Burch says,
- 7:16I also need to stand on one
- 7:18leg and put my tongue in my cheek.
- 7:20Yeah,
- 7:20I think just being outside is
- 7:21probably going to help a little bit.
- 7:23Just hope the noise stays low.
- 7:27The Wi-Fi here is terrible, Denise.
- 7:30We've been actually lodging
- 7:31complaints with the Airbnb people.
- 7:35So, Joseph, a wire hanger might help.
- 7:46Yeah, those were my college days.
- 7:47I would do the wire hanger
- 7:50on the back of a TV and out
- 7:53the window to get cell
- 7:54service or get TV service anyway.
- 7:59So, so anyway, yeah.
- 8:02So we got some news
- 8:03yesterday on the structure
- 8:04of the twenty twenty six
- 8:06CrossFit game season that is going to be
- 8:13That is going to be very
- 8:14similar to maybe the twenty
- 8:16twenty four CrossFit Games
- 8:17season with a little bit of
- 8:19twenty five mixed in.
- 8:21The big news from the
- 8:23announcement was the open
- 8:25is in February and March.
- 8:27Then they are going to bring
- 8:28back quarterfinals for the
- 8:30top twenty five percent.
- 8:32I know there was a pretty
- 8:33big demand for that.
- 8:35It gave some people in
- 8:37affiliates something to shoot for.
- 8:40And now they're going to
- 8:40have that again with the
- 8:46With the quarterfinals,
- 8:47then we're going to go to
- 8:50what they're calling in-person semifinals,
- 8:53not in whatever they called it last year,
- 8:56qualifying events.
- 8:58It is now going to be
- 8:59in-person semifinals.
- 9:01There's going to be a list
- 9:02made that has not been made
- 9:03available at this time.
- 9:05And then after that,
- 9:07once all those in-person are done,
- 9:09Then they'll have the online
- 9:11semifinal for qualifications,
- 9:13like a last chance qualifier,
- 9:15but it'll probably be a
- 9:15bigger number than one.
- 9:17It will be whatever's left
- 9:20that wasn't qualified
- 9:21through the in-person semifinals.
- 9:25So you'll have that online to finish.
- 9:28And then you go to the games,
- 9:31which are going to be in July this year.
- 9:33And by the looks of the timeline,
- 9:35it appears to be the end of July.
- 9:38Um,
- 9:40Also, for the age group athletes,
- 9:44they are going to add the
- 9:45option of some in-person
- 9:46qualifying events for their
- 9:48CrossFit Games.
- 9:52Now,
- 9:52it does appear there was some
- 9:54speculation that they would
- 9:55put the age group and the
- 9:57elites back together for
- 9:58the twentieth season.
- 10:00But by this timeline,
- 10:01it looks like the age
- 10:03groups are still going to
- 10:04be separate for this season.
- 10:08But they are going to do the...
- 10:11um,
- 10:11quarterfinals on the same weekend with
- 10:13the same workouts.
- 10:14So someone,
- 10:15and I think barbell spin even use this.
- 10:17So Carolyn who qualified for
- 10:19both last year still will
- 10:20have the opportunity to
- 10:21qualify for both on the same weekend,
- 10:24doing the same workouts this year, um,
- 10:27in the quarterfinals before
- 10:28she gets to semis.
- 10:30So, um,
- 10:36I like that they brought up quarters.
- 10:39I don't like that I now have
- 10:41to do said quarters.
- 10:44Very good point, Lito.
- 10:52Mark Moss,
- 10:53I'm assuming CrossFit would
- 10:54program the semis.
- 10:55I don't know.
- 10:56I don't think so.
- 10:56I think the in-person semis, probably not.
- 11:00The online semis, probably not.
- 11:07Biggest note for me is they
- 11:08are dropping the number of
- 11:09Masters athletes for the game.
- 11:11Yeah, I did.
- 11:13Again, I haven't done a big comparison.
- 11:16I'm very limited in what I can do here.
- 11:19So I'll probably,
- 11:21maybe Holly will take some looks at that,
- 11:23maybe put up a chart if she's listening.
- 11:26I think that would be cool
- 11:27to see a chart from last
- 11:29year's numbers to this year's numbers.
- 11:32But it doesn't surprise me
- 11:33that they're doing that.
- 11:35I think they need to
- 11:36right-size that because
- 11:37there are so many divisions
- 11:39to get through in a day.
- 11:40And the days are long at
- 11:42those age group games.
- 11:48But they need a better
- 11:49qualifying system to get
- 11:50the right people to the games.
- 11:51So it's this big conundrum
- 11:53that they have to figure out, Denise.
- 11:57Because I know when it was just online,
- 12:00you're not getting the
- 12:01right ten or the right
- 12:02fifteen or the right twenty there.
- 12:05They need to find a better
- 12:06way to get the right people there.
- 12:08Then I think you can
- 12:09right-size the numbers.
- 12:14um okay uh denise for my
- 12:32division only fifteen go versus twenty
- 12:40Yeah,
- 12:40I think some have changed and some
- 12:43have not.
- 12:48But again,
- 12:49I don't think we're getting the
- 12:50right people to the game.
- 12:52So I think they need to figure that out.
- 13:01Lito, question, Scott.
- 13:02Do you think it becomes like
- 13:03the elite indie where
- 13:05there's an African semi
- 13:06that qualifies masters?
- 13:08I don't think so.
- 13:10I think that it's going to
- 13:11be primarily North America
- 13:14and maybe Europe,
- 13:16maybe Australia that have
- 13:19an in-person qualifying event.
- 13:21And we have no details on any of that.
- 13:23So everything that I'm
- 13:24saying is complete speculation.
- 13:26So, yeah.
- 13:34So, yeah,
- 13:35Amanda says forty five to fifty
- 13:36four drop from thirty to twenty.
- 13:38That's a big drop.
- 13:40That's a big drop.
- 13:41And again, if you got the right twenty,
- 13:44I can see it.
- 13:45I just don't think they're
- 13:46getting the right twenty
- 13:48before they make that decision.
- 13:51So we'll see how this in-person thing goes,
- 13:53because like.
- 13:55And what I know the most is Jamie.
- 13:57I've been following her
- 13:58career for a while.
- 14:00I documented her season from
- 14:05beginning to end.
- 14:07And so...
- 14:09Like she wouldn't have qualified in, in,
- 14:12she didn't qualify in that
- 14:13year because they only took ten.
- 14:15She finished in the top twenty.
- 14:17But if you put her head to
- 14:18head with people in a live competition,
- 14:21she's going to finish top ten.
- 14:23She just is.
- 14:23That's who she is.
- 14:25She is that person that sees
- 14:26someone ahead of her and
- 14:27she's willing to go dark
- 14:28and get to a place that
- 14:29other people aren't willing to go to.
- 14:32And so when it's all online,
- 14:33you lose those people.
- 14:41Denise,
- 14:41there is a chart on CrossFit's website.
- 14:44Okay,
- 14:44so Holly doesn't have to do any work
- 14:45today.
- 14:47Thank you, Denise.
- 14:50So it's going to affect a
- 14:55lot of people with that,
- 14:58but I guess I like this
- 15:02season structure better
- 15:04than last year for sure.
- 15:07I'm not sure I'm a big fan
- 15:08of the Wild West semifinal piece.
- 15:11I don't know what we do there.
- 15:14If they're insistent on
- 15:15doing what we're doing now,
- 15:17I don't know how you fix that piece.
- 15:24Because if people are doing
- 15:25four and five and six
- 15:27semifinals as opportunities,
- 15:30I have to see what they're going to do.
- 15:31Are they going to allow
- 15:32unlimited opportunities
- 15:34turns at the in-person semis
- 15:36like they did this year um
- 15:43um mark moss I can confirm
- 15:47that my dark place is fully
- 15:48lit for most corey can
- 15:50confirm there you go um so
- 15:55yeah I think that's my biggest concern
- 15:58I actually like the games
- 15:59probably moving up to July.
- 16:00It gives a little bit longer off season,
- 16:04even though it's probably
- 16:04only a week or two ahead of time.
- 16:07I like that the quarterfinals are back.
- 16:09I think that's a good thing
- 16:11because it allows pretty
- 16:13much three open workouts
- 16:16and a four event or five
- 16:17event weekend to balance
- 16:19the test for people to
- 16:21going to semifinals.
- 16:24I do think that Carolyn has
- 16:25made this proposition in
- 16:26the past and should be done
- 16:28and you should carry over
- 16:30the scores from the open to
- 16:31quarterfinals.
- 16:33And then you have a big
- 16:35complete test to qualify
- 16:38people to the next level.
- 16:48Ken Walters.
- 16:49But that's sport, right?
- 16:50Every year in all the team sports,
- 16:53there are several teams
- 16:54that shouldn't be there,
- 16:54but they made it.
- 16:56That's one of the exciting
- 16:57things about professional sports.
- 17:04I see what you're saying, Ken,
- 17:07but I think in the age
- 17:08group division specifically,
- 17:11in the age group division specifically,
- 17:13you're missing out on some
- 17:14of the top athletes because
- 17:17there is no in-person event.
- 17:20I think that the programming
- 17:21is less balanced because
- 17:22they have less opportunity.
- 17:24Yeah.
- 17:28And so that's where I'm saying that for,
- 17:30I think in the elites,
- 17:31you still get the top athletes.
- 17:33It's really kind of the
- 17:34fringe that's getting
- 17:36messed with a little bit.
- 17:37And I'm a little bit better
- 17:39with that than I am in the
- 17:40age group division.
- 17:46Um, Um,
- 18:01Enrique online semi should
- 18:03be after the in-person so
- 18:05more elite athletes can be
- 18:06present at semifinal events.
- 18:09That is what they are doing this year.
- 18:11The online semifinal for
- 18:13elite athletes will happen
- 18:14after all the in-person events.
- 18:18So it should jack up the
- 18:20amount of people going to
- 18:22the in-person events.
- 18:27And so I think that is a
- 18:29great move that they have made.
- 18:37If you're a top athlete,
- 18:38shouldn't you still be able
- 18:39to qualify through an online semi?
- 18:41Lito,
- 18:41if everything was fair and everybody
- 18:43did everything by the book,
- 18:46I think that your statement is correct.
- 18:49But I think in the age group divisions,
- 18:50there's less checks and
- 18:52balances for all of that.
- 18:53And I don't think that
- 18:54people are ethical and
- 18:56honest in submitting their
- 18:59online workouts.
- 19:13Scott,
- 19:13is there a reason you don't do
- 19:14Wadapalooza events anymore?
- 19:19No.
- 19:20The biggest reason is that
- 19:22I've had personal life
- 19:24issues over the last year
- 19:26that have prevented me from travel.
- 19:29And it's prevented me from
- 19:30getting sponsorships for the show.
- 19:32And without the sponsorships,
- 19:34it's really hard to pay for
- 19:35travel out of my own pocket.
- 19:37Yeah.
- 19:39And so I have to limit,
- 19:40I have to limit my choices
- 19:42to what I can afford and
- 19:43where I get the most bang for my buck.
- 19:46And typically, um,
- 19:48what a Palooza doesn't
- 19:49afford me the opportunity
- 19:51to get a lot of bang for my
- 19:52buck while I'm there.
- 19:53Um,
- 19:55so it's just a lower priority with the
- 19:58limited budget that I have,
- 20:01but I do have a
- 20:02videographer photographer
- 20:04that goes to all the water
- 20:05Palooza events.
- 20:06Um,
- 20:11So yeah, he'll be there.
- 20:15Isma,
- 20:17he is on Instagram and he
- 20:19collaborates with me at
- 20:20every Wadapalooza event.
- 20:21So my IG is full of sights
- 20:25and sounds from the events
- 20:27and his shots are amazing.
- 20:30He's more artistic in this
- 20:31space than anybody else in
- 20:32the cameraman work that I think of.
- 20:35He does things a little off
- 20:37the cuff and things like that.
- 20:38So yeah,
- 20:41Enjoy that partnership
- 20:42immensely and he helps me
- 20:44out tremendously So and
- 20:46that has been going on for
- 20:47well over a year now and
- 20:49will continue in the future.
- 20:51He's just an incredible photographer.
- 20:53So Um
- 21:06Have they announced how the
- 21:08semis will be grouped, rankings,
- 21:10or location-based?
- 21:11They haven't done any of that yet.
- 21:15And, yeah, Eastma captures.
- 21:18Dude does great work.
- 21:19That is my man.
- 21:21That's my guy.
- 21:22Go support him on Instagram.
- 21:24He is tremendous and very, very artistic.
- 21:28It's just different than the
- 21:29typical CrossFit pictures.
- 21:32He does a little bit of,
- 21:34he does some fun stuff.
- 21:36If you've ever seen the big head,
- 21:38little body pictures from
- 21:40different events, that's him.
- 21:43He also does some very crazy
- 21:45things with lights and
- 21:48colors that other people don't do.
- 21:51And that's why I love him
- 21:52because he's just very
- 21:53different and off of the typical.
- 21:59So.
- 22:02So that's that.
- 22:02So that is the CrossFit game season.
- 22:05My big wonder now is what is
- 22:09the reaction from WFP?
- 22:13What do we know from their
- 22:14season schedule?
- 22:15How much is it going to interweave?
- 22:17I've already heard.
- 22:18I haven't been able to, again, research it,
- 22:21that there's already one
- 22:22conflict that's coming up
- 22:24for the next season.
- 22:26It's going to be interesting
- 22:26to see how this weaves together.
- 22:28Will it force exclusivity?
- 22:32Without it being contractual,
- 22:34that's going to be an
- 22:35interesting thing to
- 22:36discuss once we kind of see
- 22:39both seasons and kind of
- 22:40lay over top each one over
- 22:43the other and see how it
- 22:44affects one another.
- 22:47So that'll be interesting.
- 22:49And so with that,
- 22:50I do want to talk about
- 22:52some comments I got from
- 22:53yesterday's show.
- 22:54And I probably wasn't as
- 22:56clear as I should have been,
- 22:57but it was in my response
- 23:01to Will Morad saying on a
- 23:02podcast that saying I heard
- 23:06rumors at the H Group Games
- 23:09that there was going to be
- 23:10exclusivity was a smear campaign.
- 23:15and that the bashing of
- 23:16athletes is leading to
- 23:18mental health issues.
- 23:21And what I said yesterday
- 23:22was that if you are having
- 23:24mental health issues being
- 23:26discussed about in a professional sport,
- 23:28it may not be the career
- 23:30path you should go down.
- 23:32And what I want to clarify is this.
- 23:34I suffer from mental health issues.
- 23:36I have been on antipsychotics in the past,
- 23:41and I've worked very hard
- 23:42to get to where I am today.
- 23:45What I'm saying is that it's
- 23:48I'm not making light of
- 23:50mental health disorders or issues.
- 23:52I I tried to say that yesterday.
- 23:56I probably didn't do a good job of it.
- 23:58I felt like will was making
- 24:01light of what mental health
- 24:03issues are by his statement
- 24:05in that video.
- 24:07But what I'm saying about the athletes is
- 24:11that if by being out there
- 24:13and being judged is
- 24:14creating mental health issues for you,
- 24:17that may not be the best
- 24:19place for you to be.
- 24:20Why would you want to keep
- 24:23doing a sport that by nature,
- 24:26a professional athlete in
- 24:28any sport in this world,
- 24:30if you look at soccer,
- 24:32if you look at football,
- 24:34if you look at the NBA,
- 24:37you look at hockey, from basketball,
- 24:39high school on you are being
- 24:41judged by your performances
- 24:44by your by how you do your
- 24:47strategies all of those
- 24:49things you are going to be
- 24:50judged frequently and if
- 24:53you're going to play in
- 24:55this sport why would you
- 24:57want to do something that
- 24:58creates mental health
- 24:59issues for yourself that is
- 25:03what I was saying it just
- 25:05doesn't make sense I can't
- 25:07stand the sight of blood
- 25:09I would never be a nurse or
- 25:11a doctor or a veterinarian.
- 25:13I couldn't do it.
- 25:15Seeing blood does something
- 25:17to me that is very uncomfortable.
- 25:21And so I would,
- 25:23I would avoid those
- 25:24situations for myself.
- 25:27So that's what I was trying to say.
- 25:30Why would you put yourself
- 25:31in a situation that creates
- 25:33those things for you?
- 25:35I understand that there are
- 25:36people that do suffer
- 25:39mental health issues in that respect.
- 25:43And I was not trying to make
- 25:44light of that.
- 25:44I was trying to show the
- 25:46seriousness in that.
- 25:48Why would you put yourself
- 25:50in that situation?
- 25:54That's what I was trying to say.
- 25:57I would never make light of
- 25:59mental health issues or
- 26:02anything like that.
- 26:04That's truly what I was saying.
- 26:12And I probably didn't say it
- 26:13well yesterday.
- 26:14Probably didn't say it well yesterday.
- 26:17All right, so...
- 26:28Anyway,
- 26:32I think that's pretty much
- 26:33everything I have for today.
- 26:35It's probably going to be a
- 26:36little bit shorter show and
- 26:38less big news breaks overnight.
- 26:40I think I'm going to take tomorrow off.
- 26:43It's my last day,
- 26:44full day here in Montana to
- 26:47be with my daughter and
- 26:52And I want to spend as much
- 26:53time as I can with her and
- 26:57kind of soak up everything
- 26:58I can with her.
- 27:01So with that,
- 27:03I want to thank you guys for
- 27:04sticking with me through
- 27:05all the internet issues and
- 27:08all the stuff this week.
- 27:09Love you all.
- 27:11Don't forget to like and
- 27:12subscribe to the channel.
- 27:13We're trying to get to three
- 27:14K by the end of the year.
- 27:16We're like.
- 27:17Fifty away, fifty five away,
- 27:19something like that.
- 27:23And really trying to get
- 27:24there by the end of the year.
- 27:26So with that,
- 27:27there'll be tier water
- 27:27Palooza this weekend.
- 27:28We'll cover that on Sunday night,
- 27:29CrossFit talk.
- 27:31I'm excited for that event.
- 27:33Um,
- 27:33I think the teams are somewhat evenly
- 27:37matched up.
- 27:38If I were to make a
- 27:39prediction for this weekend,
- 27:40I really think that the
- 27:44world team has the edge, uh,
- 27:48I think that most of them
- 27:50are proven athletes and
- 27:52they work out together a lot.
- 27:54They probably communicate together a lot.
- 27:56I think that's going to be a
- 27:57big advantage.
- 27:59What worries me on the
- 28:01American side is that
- 28:06Alexis Raptus is coming off
- 28:09that injury that she talked
- 28:13about at the games with Drew from WFP.
- 28:16I don't know how that's
- 28:16going to affect her this weekend.
- 28:21I hope that...
- 28:24I hope that she's fine and I
- 28:25hope that she can perform,
- 28:27but that's my worry on the American side.
- 28:30And I think that, uh, the,
- 28:32the world's I'm sorry,
- 28:33on the American side and on
- 28:34the world side,
- 28:35I think that they have a
- 28:36lot of home run hitters with Tia and Guy.
- 28:40Um, and Emma tall,
- 28:41like they're going to do,
- 28:42they're going to do really well.
- 28:44So with that, I see that, uh,
- 28:47Jay Burch's son is hitting thirty today.
- 28:49Happy birthday to your son, Jay Burch.
- 28:53And with that, again,
- 28:55don't forget to like and
- 28:55subscribe to the channel.
- 28:57We will be back Sunday night
- 28:59for Sunday Night CrossFit Talk,
- 29:01unless something breaks overnight,
- 29:03and then I'll jump on
- 29:04tomorrow and do one last
- 29:05show from Montana.
- 29:06But with that,
- 29:08traveling out here on Saturday morning,
- 29:10and we'll see everybody
- 29:11Sunday night on Lunch with
- 29:13the Clydesdale.
- 29:14Bye, guys.
